Howard Tuesday Newsday.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
I like that newsday of Week one of the NFL season.
We are two sleeps away from the opening kickoff of
the season. We are five sleeps away from Giants Cowboys
Sunday night Football.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
How are you feeling I'm feeling pretty good. Unreasonably well,
it makes me nervous. I feel so good about this.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Unreasonably well, why unreasonably.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Well, well, you know the way I look at things,
and I'll be quite honest, we seem to have a
pretty good offensive line and we've we've been, you know,
for years looking for that. The tackles are getting We
have one Pro Bowl tackle, one guy that is healthy,
so he'll be playing better. The center's got baptism by
Fire and Jay JMS.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
John Michael Schmidts and the two guards Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
The two guards will have a lot of help kind
of on both sides, so it kind of kind of
almost evens out. Saquon's back in the backfield, we got
we got the freaking nature Waller at tight end. Yeah,
and we got speed everywhere.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Does it? Does it matter to you? Because I try
to tell people this all the time that when you
look at the matchups, right, people are like, oh, you know,
the Cowboys have won the last four matchups. The Giants
haven't beat Dak Prescott since you know it's twenty sixteen.
I mean, it's laundry, right, Like I don't.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
I don't do year to year. I do, right, what
the team looks like at the present, you know, the
way it's constructed, and it looks really good. I realized
it's a tough schedule, realize a lot of good games
you know, per se are listed. But you know, Joe
Shane has done an incredible job building the team, and
I'm like really like impressed by by what they have.

(02:32):
I mean, what the what the scheduled, the way it is,
if everybody plays the way they should play, then Okay,
it wouldn't be a great season. They're gonna be a
lot of better. It's gonna be a bunch of better
games this year, and I'm excited to watch.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, I mean the better games. It's gonna be a
different team. But like, like we heard from Joe Shane
and Brian Able at their press conference the other day,
it's like, yes, we do think that they, you know,
have made some improvements. And you look at this team
on paper, it's a different team. There are a lot
of improvements on paper, but you're really not going to
know until we see them play again.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, but again, I'm just excited. Like the two young
corners coming in here, but both rookies are phenomenal, you know,
Banks and Hawkins or Hawkins and banks, whichever law farm
you want it to be. It's it's like it's it's
just it's exciting. And I'm watching all these guys and
I'm like, wow, so, like you know, you watched guys

(03:22):
from last year. I'm like, Okay, this is these guys
know what they're doing. So they're constructing a real team
that's going to be competitive. And it's not like I
don't expect them to quote unquote win the division every
year or anything, but they will be super competitive going forward.
And you can see how quickly the team's growing from
last year being stressed out about the salary cap to

(03:44):
this year having had competition in their position. Everybody looked
strong and I'm like, okay, well all right, well it
was great going I saw a lot more practices. It
was more interesting to see what was going on in
the entire time. It it was it's I'm expecting very
competitive football from the Giant. That's all your want.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
That's good because that's what you want, right. I mean
we've heard this. I mean you heard these guys yesterday
talking about it. Schmelks is it all the time? Closing
the talent gap, right, closing the talent gap? Something that,
you know, Joe Shane addressed immediately saying that that's what
they need to do in the division, but having competitive
games week in and week out as part of that
competitive games.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Yeah, But again, think about this, like when we talk about,
you know, the talent gap, it's it's getting closer. You
can literally see it now. It's it's exciting to be
around them. And every year you think they're gonna take
another step. Another step doesn't mean like again, doesn't mean
when a division or anything. It just means like you
can say, like, Okay, these guys, you know they are

(04:37):
they're very close to being the one of the best teams,
you know, not just in the division, but maybe in
the NFC at one point. So this is going to
be good. This is gonna be a great run.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah, and they're gonna be you know a lot of
shifts too. I mean, you talked about the rookie corners,
Tay and Trey if you haven't if you haven't heard yet,
Deontay Banks. He goes by Tay Tay Banks and Trey
Hawkins on the outside, and then you've got a Dory
Jackson in the slot, and you you know last season,
you know he was in the lot a little bit,
but not, you know, not in that nickel all the time.
And now you know, really expected to be going one

(05:07):
on one with Ceedee Lamb this week. Earlier this week,
he was talking about how he remembered an incredible touchdown
catch Lamb made on him last year, that one handed catch,
and I like the way that he addressed it. It was like, yeah,
you know what, it was a great catch. You know,
it was a it was a really impressive, nicely placed ball.
You can, you know, game recognize game, but you know what,
you got to get back out there, nod your head,

(05:28):
tip your hat, and just keep back lining it up.
And the fact that like a Dory remembers that play
so specifically tells me he's he's locked in on not
letting that happen again.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Well, I got like, I don't care what sport you
do or whatever it is. The things that go wrong
you seem to have him in great detail. Well you
do something really good, You're like, yes, you know this
part of it. I'm just trying to every day. And
then something goes wrong. You're like, man, I cannot believe
it just happened.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Whoops. Exactly. That's one of the matchups though, I think
that we are all eyeing though adri Jackson, Ceedee Lamb,
you know Cowboys offensive and Brandon Cooks. They've got a
lot of changes there at the other one too, though.
Sake one Barkley, we haven't seen him on the field
yet this season. He didn't get new snaps in the
preseason going against his teammate Mikeah Parsons. They were just
out at Happy Valley last weekend nice for the Penn

(06:13):
State game, and I'm sure you know it was all
smiles and handshakes then, but not so much Sunday night football.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Anybody could see, Hey, I'll see you soon.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Soon, I'll see you soon. I'll be running right bas
y'all wave.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Yeah, we haven't mentioned like Thibodeau. We have Sexy Dexi
McKinney in the back. It's just Leo. It's just it's just,
you know, it's got a lot of guys.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
We talked about this too this week on the Coach
Tables show previewing this game. But when you talk about
putting pressure on Dak Prescott, you know that offensive line
has been a point of pride for the Cowboys. Cave
on Thibodeau is e'so Jalai. You know, Caveon was talking
about this earlier this summer saying, you know what, Zeze
and I just want to meet at the quarterback, you know,
not run into each other, but meet you at the quarterback,
and Caveon saying, you know, I want to put less

(06:57):
pressure on myself to get to a and sack number.
I think last year he was kind of eyeing Aziz's
rookie sack record and saying I'm going to get that.
I'm going to get that and counting that. Now he's
looking more at execution. But in terms of pressure on
the quarterback, where do you feel like this team is
at defensively?

Speaker 4 (07:15):
I think it is. It's greatly increased, and I don't
think people will realize that when you got a carrike
in the middle, that's going to like shrew up a
lot of things and free some more guys up to
come come after the quarterback. You got Simmons coming off
the edge that people. You know, we don't talk about
him enough, don't. We don't know who he is as fans,
but as a player, you know, as a person who's

(07:36):
been watching him and understanding where he came from. This
guy's a pretty pretty efficient, not even efficient scary pass
rusher because he's.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Got some the top ten pick out of Clemson.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
But think about this play corner playing safety, playing linebacker, Okay,
put your hand in dirt and come off the edge.
If he's that fast to cover guys, imagine what it
would look like coming after the quarterback. That's going to be.
That's going to be interesting. And I don't think people realize.
I mean, I think teams are kind of looking at
it and trying, like, you know, we'll figure it out. It's
the Giants. They play a muddy game. They like to

(08:08):
keep it close. It's not gonna be the same kind
of football this year.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
No, it's not gonna be. And I mean that depth
in the defensive room in general. I mean I talked
to some guys that I said, I've never seen this
much depth on the defensive line in this group.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Think about it last year when when when Leo and
Deck went out, you could see a big difference, like
they'd run the ball right up the middle intentionally. Okay,
they're out, we can start running right at them. And
now you got like you got I think you got
two or three groups that are going to go in there,
that are big bodies that aren't going.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
To be giving up the run, right absolutely, And you
know you're just acquiring Boogie Basham as well edge and
getting that pressure in there as well. Something we'll want
to see. I know the phone lines are filling up
right now. Two oh one nine three nine four five
one three oh Bold predictions. Oh yeah, we got to
get our bold predictions in here too, though. Do you
want to get those first?

Speaker 4 (08:55):
No?

Register now at giants dot com slash five k. Yeah,
before we get to the calls hour, I need to
know your bold prediction for the twenty twenty three Giants
season prediction. Let's get bold, not italic, not underlined, not helvetica.
We want bold, times new Roman, bold.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Both predictions. I will say that the Giants will have
forty sacks this year.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Okay, is that bowl? Well, I mean Eagles had seventy
last year.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Okay, how many do we have? Like twenty five thirty?

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I'm gonna pull it up right now, hoop. And of course,
let's see Giants sacks piercing, you know, off the top
of your head, Producer, he's looking, he's looking forty one.
So they had forty one last year. So forty would
be less than last year. Was Howard's bold prediction. They're
going to be one sack less than last year.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
They're gonna have fifty nine sacks. Okay, I would say sixty,
but that's twenty more.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Yeah, I mean that's actually nineteen more than last year.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Because can I go sixty one? Is that better? Sixty
one sacks? We're gonna have sixty.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Four one sacks.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
That's a lot, man, I never I should never say
that alloud.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I mean, it has to be bold. It can't be italic.
It had to be a bold prediction.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Ok.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
Okay, how about this, forget that. I don't like that one.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Control delete. We're undoing that one.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Barkley, Okay, we'll have total offense twenty nine, one hundred.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yards Saquon Barkley, total offense twenty nine over that one.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Oh yeah, it's a twelve hundred running.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Because last season, last season, Saquon had thirteen hundred rushing
yards one thousand, three hundred twelve yards. He had three
hundred thirty eight receiving yards.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
That's a lot.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
So he had about like fifty How does the math work?
Thirteen sixteen seventeen fifty that's too much too. That's so
twenty nine hundred is all whole, twelve hundred more than
I remember.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Two thousand yards. You have two thousand, two thousand.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Howard Cross, well, well, Howard Cross carried the two. That's
the math over here. Forty sacks to three thousand yards
from Saqua I mean, these are some bold predictions.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Was the final one two thousand? What twenty fifty rushing total?

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Totally?

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Okay, two fifty, it's going to have more than that,
but that's just something.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
You have more than that, he really will. I mean
to pull out the calculator because I can't do math
in my mind right now.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
That's like, but it's like three hundred more yards.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, last year he had sixteen fifty, so you're giving
him two thousand, So four hundred yards.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
More total offense.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Total offense for Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
That's reasonable.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Last year was a career year for him, and you're
giving him four hundred more yards than a career year.
I mean, I'm here for it. I am. I am
supporting this wholeheartedly.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
I'll explain to you why. Okay, it's very simple. Receivers
run routes, they take off. Everybody's got to cover. It's
not gonna be like it used to be where you
can just like rush your quarterback and one is stepping
out on the edge, they throw the ball to him.
There's not gonna be anybody there. There you go. If
he fixed the block and just leaks out and they
dump into him wid open space, it's going to be

(13:10):
some poor defensive It's going to be looking at him
attack on. Yeah, it's it's gonna be interesting. He's gonna
get a lot more yards.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Yeah, And the rushing yard is gonna be greater because
you can't stack the box with ten or twelve guys.
He should have an extra three hundred yards, four hundre yards.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Yes, I'm here for it. Well, my bold prediction it's
not nearly as bold or all over the board as
your options have been.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
I had to get some numbers down.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I forty seventy three thousand yards. I mean, hey, listen, I.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Of course I went. I fanned out for a minute for.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
And appreciate the confidence. My bold prediction is that Caveon,
Thibodeau and Disease O Jealai will combine for twenty or
more sacks.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
That is a very bold prediction.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Come for twenty or more sacks. So it could be
ten and ten, could be twelve and eight. You know,
cave On last year had four a z's. He was
injured and missed some time as well. Last season, and
he had five and a half sacks last year. So
last year they combined for nine and a half as

(14:20):
Ease played, but as he's played just seven games because
of injury. Kveon played fourteen games because of injury. So
I think they're going to be healthy, and I think
they're going to meet at the quarterback and combine for
twenty sacks. Sure, Caveon and Azase. That's my bold prediction.
We want your bold predictions too, so we're heading to
the callers right now. Two one nine, three nine four

(14:42):
or five one three. Hit us with your bold predictions,
your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, all of it. Madeline
Burke and Howard Cross here on Big Blue Kickoff Live,
and we start, of course with Tom from Stratford, who's
been holding the longest. Hello Tom, how's it going?

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Hi Malian, It's always nice to see you on TV
and hear your boys.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Thank you by Howard, Howard, it's fine.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
My bold prediction. I think I gave it to you
last week. Danny Jones going to the Pro Bowl. I
think he's going to have a combined thirty touchdowns between
throwing and running, and I don't see him throwing more
than eight interceptions. And I just also wanted to remind

(15:32):
everyone before people start calling up from all over the
country bashing Evan Neil. He's twenty two years old. Okay,
I just remember he's twenty two years old, and I'm
confident and his work ethic and that I think he'll
take a tremendous leap forward this year. I'm very confident

(15:54):
of that. And that's all I got. I know you
got a lot of callers online, so thank you for
taking my call.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
I appreciate it, Tom, Appreciate the call, Appreciate the bold prediction,
and appreciate the vote of confidence for Evan Neil. You know,
I mean, sometimes it's nice to have somebody call in
and just say, hey, listen, i've been hearing this guy
catching a lot of flak. I just want to be
the one person to give him a little vote of confidence.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
So thirty touchdowns combined.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Thirty touchdowns combine. All right, So last season, Daniel Jones
had fifteen touchdowns, five interceptions. He said, no more than
eight interceptions, which I appreciate that touchdowns. Thirty touchdowns combined.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
If Waller had three, no.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Waller, get you're giving Waller three touchdowns, trying.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
To think I'm trying to think of trying to give
her because it's going to be a lot of people
scoring catching the ball.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Okay, right, but in the seventeen game season.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
He has eight, let's give him eight. Okay, Okay, Hyde
has four.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Okay, long passes, we're at twelve.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Now Paris has He's gonna have a lot too. I
don't know. That's why. That's why I said Waller like
four maybe five.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
But then also you got Saquon does he run it in?
Does Daniel Jones run the ball in?

Speaker 1 (17:11):
No?

Speaker 2 (17:11):
We talked, that's what he said combined.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
Yeah, so he had twenty two total last.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Year, had twenty two total last year he was going
for thirty okay total, he had fifteen passing touchdowns last year.
You're over here with PEPSI going.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
On PSS wearing out over there.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
For the people that are listening and were watching on video,
what is going on over here? But yeah, all right,
well that's a.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
That's a good prediction.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
That's a good prediction. I'm here.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
It's totally it's kind of like my prediction.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
He no, Well, which one of your predictions.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
What he did was he actually looked at the numbers
before he said something.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
He was like, oh, this is okay. I got how
here's the starting point, and here's how we build off
of it. All right, Well, I like that he did good.
We appreciate the call.

Speaker 6 (17:59):
Tom.

Speaker 2 (17:59):

(18:42):
one three holding now online two week. So here we go.
I just moved a little move a little thing. Now
I can't find there we go line to Mike and
Manhattan is holding what's.

Speaker 7 (18:52):
Happening Mike, Hi, guys, this is my second time ever
calling in, and both times of collar before we talked
about exactly what I want to talk. Oh no, but
I guess a little more to that. I mean, is
there anything that you've seen in person with Evan Neil,
whether preseason or in practice, that gives you hope or
makes you think that he has improved other than you know,

(19:13):
being right next right next to Andrew Thomas all day
every day.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Yeah, you know it. The biggest thing is his health.
But you know, last year he got hurt, like I
think a six or seven games into the season. Then
he set out and then he tried to come back
and play on one leg, and it is what it is, like,
you know, That's what happened to Andrew Thomas's first couple
of years. He's playing on a bad ankle. Till he
had that ankle fixed, he looks like a totally different person. So, like,
I'm just hoping that that he's healthy enough. I don't

(19:38):
know if he had surgery or not. I don't know
ask any questions about what guys are doing to their
bodies and whatever now season, but if he's healthy, he's
going to grow tremendously from the first year to the
second year. If he's not healthy and he tweaks it,
then you'll see it early on. So it's just it's
just part of the part of the deal with with
big guys in their lower lower bodies.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Yeah, I mean, and you know, talking to Evan Neil
coming out of knowledge, I mean that durability was the
biggest thing for him. He said last year was the
first year he had really played through a significant injury
like that, and so shocking.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
The first time you hurt something and you pull trying
to work your way through it, You're like, I can
do it, and they're like, well, maybe you should take
a little bit of a rest. I think I'm okay.
Then they watch you like now he goes, okay, I'm
not okay? Right, Well, when am I okay?

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Because that's that's the thing too, like learning learning the NFL,
not just the game, not just the routine, but also
what it takes and what your body is going to
feel like week in and week out, and knowing where
where the limit is. I mean, I remember when I
go through physical therapy, they're like, okay, you have to
push right up against the paint, but don't go to
the pain and finding that point of like coming back
from an injury, it's like, Okay, I think I think
this is right up against it. I think I'm okay here.

(20:45):
I don't know. And that's you know, that's a big
thing too, especially when you're a rookie coming into this
league trying to earn your spot not only you know
in this league and earn that respect of your teammates.
But you're like, I can do this, I can do
this tough it out. Now that Evan Neil is feeling healthy,
feeling ready to go, I think that we're going to
see a little bit different version.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Yeah. It's kind of like watching Thibadau from the first
part of the season right until because he was coming
off that injury in pre season and then four or
five games in he was trying to protect himself from
injury again and then all of a sudden he's like, Manute,
maybe I can I can try this, And then he
saw a blow off the corner. He goes like, I
can't try this. Let's see if I can do this,
and it just looked different. When you when you start

(21:23):
to feel healthier, you do a lot more you can
do it. He's lower in his stance, he's moving well
with his feet, so you know, I'm feeling very confident
in But again, the way they practice these days, and
then this is not the Giants, it's the league. They
do everything they can to protect the players, to make
sure they can be on the field at all times,
and it just it hopefully it works. I think that,

(21:45):
like regular games are taxing on the body.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Right right, Mike, thanks so much for the call. Yeah,
I know it's so true. Regular games taxing on the
body and the consistency and that, you know, especially with
the schedule too. You look at it first, you got
what three the first eleven days of the season, Kevin
in West Palm Beach holding online through Kevin. What's happening?

Speaker 5 (22:07):
Welcome to BBK, Hi Madeline, Hi Howard. Yeah, so somebody
already kind of stole my full prediction about Danny taking
the Pro Bowl here. But one other full prediction I
would give is I think Jalen Hiat's actually going to
make a run at Rookie of the Year. I really,
I really have been seeing not just maturity and his

(22:27):
you know, interviews that he's been getting conducted, and you know,
his his practice on the field, and his couple of
performances and exhibition, but like, just in general, I'm just
getting these OBJ maybe OBJ light vibes, but still OBJ
vibes from just everything he's bringing to the team. And
I think, is it because he had.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Changed his number to thirteen?

Speaker 5 (22:46):
Yeah, I mean definitely, uh, it definitely helps matters. But
on top of that, I did have a question for
you both, because I've been doing a lot of debating
and thinking with friends and family about what this season means,
and every right now is really just kind of souring
on the Giants. Like I've been watching NFL Network, everybody's
saying seven wins seems like a stretch for them. The

(23:07):
schedule is so difficult, And namely, I've been really looking
at these first six games. I know we're playing Dallas,
but then there's the short week between the Cardinals and
the forty nine ers, and then after that, obviously we've
got Seahawks, Bills, and Dolphins. What do you think, realistically
in those first six games, do we have to come
out with record wise to really stay in contention for

(23:28):
the division? You know, moving forward? Do you think it's
four and two, three and three. I've even heard some
people say, as long as we're two and four, I
think we'll still be on a good pass given the
rest of the season. Just curious. I'll take the call
of the one.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Thanks so much for how many games you have to win?
Like that's six games you play one division team, right, Yeah,
and then you played you basically played AFC East this one.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
But again, you know, I mean Joshane talked about this too.
It's like, yes, division wins are more important mathematically, you
want to win the division, you want to win divisional opponents.
But last season the Giants won one game within the
division and they went into the playoffs. So yes they matter,
Yes they're important, Yes they hold more weight, But is
it possible. You know, it's not like it's not like

(24:09):
you want to just go follow these other games, you know.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
The way I look at if they if they could,
if they could figure out a way to to okay Arizona,
they should win because I think Arizona had a yard
sale and I don't think they have anybody there playing anymore.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah, they got the tune squad at cornerback.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Yeah, so then you then I don't Seattle might be
great and they might be average. You know, it's the
second year coming off Seattle.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Well Seattle too, you got I mean Gino comeback Player
of the Year last year. And that's another that's another
Monday night football game.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Uh. Then you have San Francisco. I'm swimming rock parties
all ready to go, so that that'll be an interesting game.
And it depends if they get Bosa in camp or not. Right, well,
I think he should be there. But if he's there,
is he the Bosa that he's supposed to be or
because game shape is different than being in shape, so

(25:03):
he can he get in shape in the next three weeks,
Let's say no, and they have to take a little break.
So those are your opportunities. The Miami and Buffalo game,
that's too far ahead. I just I just think if
they come out of it three and three, I think
they're way ahead. Yeah, they come out of it, you
know four and two, they're legendarily ahead. But you know,

(25:25):
it's a tough schedule. It's a very yeah, and it's
not just tough. It's like Sunday night. Then you go
out to the Cardinals in Monday night. Then it's like okay, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
For the first six games, in primetime. You open up
on Sunday night with Cowboys. Then you go to the
West Coast. You're at the Cardinals, which, as you mentioned Howard,
you know, they had a bit of a fire sale.
They even you know, we've Colt McCoy, they got a
rookie starting at quarterback. They got you know, Kyler Murray
and his crop top probably on pop all season. I mean,
you know the picture. You know the picture. Everyone on
the internet knows picture. But if they come out of

(25:54):
those first three games, two and one, you know, if
they win, you know, if they against the Cardinals and
one of those games between the Niners and Cowboys, I
feel like you feel good about that. It's tough coming
off of that Cardinals game, though, because you're going to
stay on the West Coast on a short week and
then go to San Francisco. So as an athlete who's
used to rhythm and routine and consistency, you're not in

(26:16):
your normal training room, You're not in your normal habit.
You're not eating at home, you're eating you know, on
the road. All these little things that are throwing you out.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Having really weird practice schedules. We're not going to do
anything routine because we won't have a routine to after
the third or fourth game. Yeah, that's pretty crazy.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
And this is the kind of Jedi mind tricks that
these coaches think about, which is what makes them good coaches, right,
because it's like we you hope, right, you want to
be prepared for the lack of consistency, the lack of
schedule regularity, because they're going to have a lot of it.
And so then you know, you got Thursday night in
week three, and then you come back and you've got
a Monday night at home, and then you're back on

(26:53):
the road in Miami, and then you're back on a
Sunday night at the Bills and so again. I mean,
I think Kevin made a great point, just the fact
that the whole schedule is so disjointed, and then you
know you got for the first sex some primetime seven
to the first ten on the road on the move like.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
The la crazy. But we'll see, we'll see. I still
think they're going to go and do well. I just
don't know what the prediction should be. And I can't
predict schedules because.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
It's too tough, I know, and especially too I mean,
we look at the schedule now at this point in
the year, and you think, Okay, we are judging what
this weight of this matchup is mostly based on what
we saw from that team last year.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
You know.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I mean there are some teams, like the Cardinals, for example,
we're judging it based on recent news out of Arizona.
But you know, the forty nine Ers were judging that
forty nine Ers team based on what the forty nine
ers looked like last year. We're judging this Seahawks game
based on what the Seahawks looked like last year. And
last year we saw how wrong that can be sometimes
with that Titans game. You know, Titans were coming in
the number one seed in the AFC. They were not

(27:55):
that same team last year. So not all of these
teams as we perceive them now are going to be
how they are when we match up against them, if
that makes sense.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
That makes sense.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Okay, Sometimes I say words and I'm like that did
that translate from you know here to that?

Speaker 4 (28:09):
It made it? It made it all.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Right, We made it. We did it. Two oh one
nine three, nine four five one three. Heading back to
the phone lines and thrilled and honored to welcome into
the show on Big Blue Kickoff Live, joining Howard Cross
and Madeline Burkeet's Charlie from Maine. Hey Madeline, Hey Charlie,
how you doing.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
I've got Madeline. You amaze me. You are so talented.
Now you can even sing.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
You know, I just got to keep them guessing.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Right, yeah, exactly, exactly. Look, the best teams adapt and adopt.
If you can't adapt and adopt, then you're not going
to win in the NFL. You can't be so you
can't be so rigid that you have to eat your
lunch at exactly twelve oh one, even if you're not hungry,

(29:00):
and you've got to practice at exactly one thirty one,
or it destroys your whole rhythm. That's ridiculous. You have
to adapt and adopt. Talk about it.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
I don't have much to tell you that. I mean,
I just think that, you know, you can say the
best teams could have to adapt and adopt. But what
happens is is that, like every sport, guys get into
rhythms and schedules, and guys are quote unquote creatures of
habit and they're superstitious and everything else. So you can
say what you want to trying to break their habits

(29:34):
up as much as possible. It's all you can do,
like uh, and it doesn't happen. Everybody can't do it
like a great great examples beg. Kirk Cousins during the day,
if the sun, if the sun's up, he's the most
dangerous person in the world. At ninety he's a reverse vampire.
He goes back. But it's like, it's just certain players

(29:55):
can do it. Certain players can't.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Yeah, yeah, but the best teams able to do that,
you know. But anyway, I'm gonna I'm gonna give my prediction.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
All right, let's hear it.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
And you're probably not gonna like them. But I you know,
all these guys we brought in, they've all been injured.
I don't think Walla is gonna last seventeen games. He'll
be lucky if he plays ten. Paris Hilton will be
lucky if he plays eight. Daniel Jones has been injured
three out of the last four years. He's due to

(30:27):
miss some games this year. He might miss three or
four or five games this year. So I thought he
wouldn't like an hour. But it's reality. That is the example.

Speaker 7 (30:39):
Charlie.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
I'm over here touching wood, just listening to you, like,
knock on wood. Let's hope this doesn't happen. You're like
manifesting this team into the infirmary right now.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
It knows Jesus never been able to stay on the field.
So I mean, we have all these if if if
if if it's it's ridiculous. There's too many ifs. But anyway,
I say our record is going to be either six
and eleven or seven and ten. And the reason I
say possibly seven and ten the last game of the

(31:09):
year is against Philadelphia and Philadelphia's got nothing to play for.
We might win that game and that would give us
seven wins. So that's my prediction on the win.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Okay, wow, all right, six or seven, but only based
on that Philly game. We got to put that asterisk
in their pierce and make sure so you know, you.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Know why I don't make predictions.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Because you don't know how to do math. And what's
the difference between forty one and six?

Speaker 4 (31:39):
Because Green Bay was supposed to be great last year, yep,
and they barely got through the year. Tennessee was supposed
to be great last year and they had a horrible year.
You never know what teams are going to be from
year to year, what players are going to be from
year to year. So you're just trying to, like, you know,
if you're making guests and assumptions on what they were
the year before. Now you see, I just watched college
games this weekend where the team that was in the

(32:00):
national championship game lost to a team that had one
win over.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Two Seasonsson last night, number nine Clemson.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Charlie, Charlie, see how you spent it, and they might
beat themselves, but Duke gets the w. Yeah, So like
you can't.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
When you try to go on predictions of the year before,
what's happening from the year before, it's impossible. You don't know.
Like Kansas City, then I could, I mean on Thursday night,
could lose to Detroit if they don't have their big, massive,
all everything defensive tackle in whateverever position they put him
in in the middle of the field. Their defense is

(32:51):
below average.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Anything is possible. If you were to come into this
season like college football you just mentioned, and you were
to say, okay, by the way Week one, Colorado, I
was going to knock off TCU their entire of their
entire team. Yes, TCU doesn't have Max dug In and
several players as well, But okay, fine, Florida State is
gonna beat LSU. Duke is going to get their first
win against an AP Top ten team in thirty four years.

(33:15):
Clemson's first lost to Duke since two thousand and four.
That was like twenty years ago. I was absolutely born.
It was I was out of okay, thank you. Yes,
I am so youthful to the viewers out there. Y'all
have no idea to.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Tell us what you was doing. We don't want to know.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
I don't know young lady over here not that young.
But no, that's so true. I mean, so that's why
week one especially, it'll tell us some things. Was not
going to tell us everything a lot.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
I just think that. Man.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting, Manna Howard Cross's bold prediction. Man, well,
we'll see, We'll see about it. We'll know about it
soon enough. The Giants official connected TV streaming app, Giants
TV brings original video content and game highlights on demand
and direct big loop fans. Giants TV is free on
Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV, and also on

(34:14):
the Giants mobile app What Are You Looking for Oh no,
I just felt like you look around while I'm doing
the read. I'm like, it's like Howard checking out every
corner of the remote.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
Look, there's a ceiling, there's I'm like, okay, I said,
there's something on my phone, there's written here, and I'm like,
oh interesting, I wonder what else is around?

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Look a bird? All right, let's get back to the collars,
shall we. Lenn and Maryland online too. Lenn, thanks for
calling BBK. You got Howard and madelin.

Speaker 6 (34:40):
Yeah, yeah, good to talk to both of you. Good
to talk to both of you. And always a tough
act to follow. Why do I always have to follow Charlie?

Speaker 4 (34:47):
I think.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Must plan this, you guys must yeah.

Speaker 6 (34:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, come on, Madeline, next time you
got to flip me with with Charlie. Charlie from Portland. Hey,
our quick question was that Roman oben Son who got
that class.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
Were the same year in school. I think roman Son
went to Saint Peter's, uh like Saint Peter's Prep, and
Howard went to uh Saint Jose And yeah, you have
to play against each other often.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Yeah yeah, oh yeah, a couple of weeks, aren't they. Yeah,
a couple of Yeah, yeah, cool, and that is that
that's in Uh, that's Endurham.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Yes, I will actually go down to that game.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
Yeah, okay, Hey on to the Giants. I'm going to
differ with Charlie a little bit. I will I will
not be shocked if the Giants win ten games. I
think the roster, I think the roster is that good.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
See, this is why this is why we have you
after Charlie, so you can like bring the pendulum back,
bring it back to the middle.

Speaker 6 (35:50):
Right, that's cool, that's cool. He's he's right a lot
of the time, though, he's right a lot of the time.
If if sake one hour, if Saquon goes for more
than two thousand total yards, I think we could win
the division. Wow, if he has that kind of year,

(36:13):
and I wouldn't be so, I wouldn't be shocked. I
wouldn't be shocked. I mean I think he's uh you
know it's signed for that kind of performance at a Saquon.
But that would really be nice boy, that would this
team would explode, would give us that kind of yard.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
I think he has an opportunity because I think he
can do it with less touches than he had in
the year before, because there's there's so many more weapons
and there'll be you know, you can't cover everybody, you
can't be all of them. You can't be nine to
ten guys in the box like we saw. Sometimes they're
going to have to like spread out and actually play football. Now.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Yeah, yeah, one of the previous callers, you were, you know,
you were talking about the schedule, breaking down the schedule.
You could make a case. I don't necessarily want to
fall into this camp, but you could make a case
for the season actually starting on a tour over twenty
second at home against the Commanders. Ten games to go,

(37:05):
five of them in the division, and it could be that,
you know, the closer we get to October twenty second date, boy,
that's really when this season starts with five division games left,
starting with that one at home. I'm kind of thinking
and that there. I haven't really fallen into that camp yet,
but I could see I could see how you could

(37:26):
make a case for that, could make a case. Hey man, well, yeah,
go ahead. I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
If you go down that path, that probably means that
you're thinking of losses, which means it's probably gonna be
some injured bodies and that's probably why that's coming about. Yeah, yeah,
we don't want any injured bodies. We won't.

Speaker 6 (37:43):
I agree.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
If everybody's healthy and everybody's playing, you know, pretty well
or at their best, it could be a lot different.
I don't want to make any predictions because, yeah.

Speaker 6 (37:52):
You know, I get you. I gets you. I guess you.
But if we could be three and three going into
that that game against the Commanders, that.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
Would be very successful. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (38:02):
Man, we'd be on our we'd be on our way. Hey,
a couple of things I'm going to be looking for.
I like your comments on on Sunday night, and I'm
looking forward to the game. It's going to be great.
But when I picked those binoculars up and put him
to my eyes the first sequence when the Giants are
on defense, guys, I'm really going to be looking. I mean,

(38:22):
is it really going to be Tray Hawkins with a
Dorr at slot. I don't know if I'm ready for that, guys. Yeah,
oh man, what do you think?

Speaker 4 (38:32):
I think that. I'm not sure how they're going to
run it. I don't know what personnel they'll have in
the game, meaning Dallas.

Speaker 6 (38:38):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
If it's a standard standard defense, I don't know who's
going to be starting on the opposite side. It'll be
Banks and in neither of Hawkins or Banks and and
Dori Jackson. I don't think. I don't think a Dory
cares if he's inside or outside. I think I think
a Dory will probably follow around lamb because that's there,
you know, they're okay everything player. If the Lamb goes

(39:01):
to the outside, I think that the Dori follows him
to the outside. I think that they'll just keep moving
them around, trying to trying to make sure he's going.
But that's that's what I would do.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
Now, I'm not true.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
I'm not but I don't know. I don't know what
Wink's going to do. But that's what I would. I would.
I would put my my my guy that I could trust,
you know that, Not that I don't trust the two
young guys. It'd be the guy that I that wants
to be on him, which they all raise their hand
to get on him. Probably, But I'm gonna take the veteran.

Speaker 6 (39:30):
Yeah, is said, okay to say Howard. Howard Is said,
okay for me to say that I don't trust the
two young guys.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
You cannot trust him but they look me.

Speaker 6 (39:39):
I guess that's where I'm coming from. You know, they
look I'm just I'm just not ready to put tray
on the field starting Sunday Night that that first series
against the Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (39:50):
But I get it.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
You know, change is scary, the youth is a little
bit scary. But you know what, when they get out there,
they earn your trust on Sunday Night maybe best exactly.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
There's no bet Garden was a rookie last year.

Speaker 6 (40:03):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
That's true.

Speaker 6 (40:05):
Yeah, Yeah, that's a that's a very good point. And Hawky,
you know Howard an interesting thing during the draft and
you know, so, yeah, when I'm watching, I'm watching the draft,
they get to the seventh round and uh, you know
the network I'm watching, and all of a sudden, Trey
Hawkins comes up. And the only player they didn't have

(40:26):
any film on the two and fifty six people, the
two hundred and fifty six people drafted, the only person
they didn't have film on was Stray Hawkins. And I'm thinking,
oh my god, what yeah, sixth round thick. Yeah, but
he was the only one they didn't show even a
couple of plays on. Hey let me, let me ask
you one more quick one. I'm more comfortable with Ojulari

(40:52):
and Fibideaux standing up in the defense when when I
see them both with their and in the ground in
a four to three defense tower, it makes me very nervous.
I don't think they play the run as strongly with
their hands in the ground than they do from the
stand up position. Can you come in on that, police.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
Planning to run is thanks for I think planning to
run is at four to three. So just serve one
those four to three is four four defensive defensive lineman.
You have two tackles defensive tackles inside, and you have
three and one or one and a zero technique, and
you have the two guys on the outside to play
close to the tackles, either just inside if the if

(41:38):
the linebackers standing on the outside, or he's playing outside
of them.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
So four down linemen and three linebackers as opposed to
three four, which is the inverse of that.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
Three three four is three big guys.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Three big guys, four guys.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
Yeah, So what happens in the in the four in
the four three is that there's a middle backer who
plays is what they always call them, Mike and there's
a week back of the kind of plays well that
plays off the ball, the strong side back or if
he stands up and comes up on the line of scrimmage,
the guy who's playing defense puts his hand the dirt.
The backside defensive end always has his hand in the dirt.

(42:14):
So what he's saying, he'd rather see them with their
hand in the dirt. The problem is that in Winks defense,
they're not always They might look like they're in a
four to three, they might be in a three to
four depending on who's in the game, and that guy
is on the end of the line will drop in
the coverage, so you just don't know. And they'll rush
from that position too. So it's just I would love

(42:37):
to tell you that if you look at it on film,
you'd see it over and over, you'd know what they
were doing, but you don't know exactly what they're doing.
No matter you know how they're standing up. And as
far as playing to run, it's gonna be based on
not so much if he's standing up or if he's down.
It's gonna be based on like how how the rest
of the guys are playing right, and all he has
to do now is just set the edge. If he

(42:59):
stands on the edge, we got a great middle black ground.
Now that makes a lot of tackles.

Speaker 2 (43:05):
I don't have any notes on that one.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
Yes, they probably don't have notes on him either, But.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
I do get that point though line because from a
generic defensive standpoint, you know, there's a difference with you know,
a guy standing up versus hand in the dirt, and
and his aggressiveness is pressure. But you're right, howard does
he points out in winks defense because of the way
Wink disguises things in the Wink, the way that he
wants to keep guessing that's not really a defining faction

(43:29):
of what kind of pressure they're sending and what kind of.

Speaker 4 (43:32):
And and for people who don't know, and from a
person who blocked a lot of people, I could direct
you when your hand was in the dirt because that
means you're going forward, and I can direct you inside outside.
Stands you up, throw you, throw you down. If you're
standing up, then I got to catch you and catch
up to you. You're not usually doing And what he's
referring to he wants them to be coming upfield all

(43:54):
the time. As a defensive minded person sounds like he
wants them to be penetrated and going forward all the time.
But you know, going forward me as you get directed.
And when you get directed, you know you make big
bubbles and gaps.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Big bubbles and not good. Uh, Nick Bosa holding out, Yeah,
just like button over there. Uh just a lottio looking
around the room saying, look, okay, where can we hand
this anyway to a one nine four five one three.
We've got dazz in La calling in online three das
that's happening.

Speaker 8 (44:26):
Hey, yeah, you guys doing pretty good, pretty good.

Speaker 5 (44:31):
I got my predictions.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Yes, can't wait.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
I would.

Speaker 8 (44:36):
I got us at winning ten games with the possibility
of eleven and coming in second in the division games. Yeah,
this is uh, but this is solely based on us
having good health. The health is the most important. If
to put it in perspective, if we go back to

(44:56):
last season, I would feel confident enough to say that
we would we could. We could have at least won
one more game with McKinney not missing any games.

Speaker 4 (45:07):
I'm confident enough.

Speaker 8 (45:08):
To say that we could have at least won one
more game with Badori not injured. I'm confident enough to
say that we could have at least won one more
game with a these not in and out of the lineup,
And the same thing for Wandell, The same thing goes
for Stirling Shepherd, the same goes for Bellinger Neil Thibodeau.
So it's really the most important factor, and it's really

(45:30):
going to determine what the season is going to look like. Yeah,
and like I was just saying, if you really go
back and you look at those games and you plug
in one or two of those players that were missing
in the lineup last year, then the season last year
it has a different has even look to it.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
You know what I'm saying, Well, you know that's the
one thing you can't predict is the health of a player.
It just I wish it was something we could go
through and we could all, this guy's going to play
at least fourteen and fifteen games and we know when
he's gonna get injured or whatever. But it just never
happens that way. Some guys are like I played through
injuries through my career, and sometimes I play with something

(46:10):
that was a little probably more hurt than I should
be playing. And sometimes I didn't like something well that
the old expression was are you injured or are you hurt?

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Right right, that's that's different. That is different, and.

Speaker 4 (46:21):
Then that's the old days the new The new day
is we protect the players at all costs, and if
they say they have something, whether they believe it or not,
even if they don't say it, they have red hats
out there to take you off the field. Guys pop
up really quick trying to pretend like they didn't get hit,
like I'm okay, I'm okay, Like, yeah, come over here,
how you doing getting a tent? Let me look at you.

(46:42):
So it's it's a different world, totally different.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
Well it's also too because sometimes you got to protect you,
protect you from yourself.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Yeah, you kind of do.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
You can't. You've got to be able to be mindful
of the fact that these guys want to be on
the field. You want to be protecting your spot on
the roster, your spot in the rotation. And sometimes it's like, Okay,
I get that, I get that you want to play,
but we got to take care of you long term.

Speaker 4 (47:03):
You're not looking long term here? Yeah, absolutely, dah, Yeah,
thanks a lot for.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
All right, Bill in Denver. He's got a bold prediction
as well. Online one Bill what's happening.

Speaker 9 (47:17):
Hey, how's it going good?

Speaker 2 (47:19):
How are you.

Speaker 6 (47:21):
Doing well?

Speaker 9 (47:22):
Hanging out with my two months old today and figured
i'd call.

Speaker 8 (47:24):
It congratulations young, thank you, Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 9 (47:31):
So I have a couple of predictions that i'd like
to share, are well, whether they're bold or not, I'll
tell you and then you tell me if they're bold
or not. I feel like a lot has been made
of Daniel Jones only throwing fifteen touchdowns last season. I
think that this upcoming season he will throw at least

(47:53):
sixteen to backs and tight ends before you even account
to the touchdowns to why reivers.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
So at least sixteen. So we're just going tight ends
and running backs. So that means we'll have six yet
receiving touchdowns. That's not including the rushing touchdowns. That's not
including the handoff.

Speaker 4 (48:14):
And then they say in the wide outs.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
Wow, that's not including the white outs. Wow, that is
a bold prediction. I did give that bold and underline.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
Actually, that's pretty sixteen touchdowns to bags and tight ends
tight ends only.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
I mean, so is there like, are you thinking like, Okay,
Waller's going to have like ten of those or I think.

Speaker 9 (48:36):
He'll account for half of them. I think he'll I
think he'll get eight. I think Belengers get a few. Yeah,
and maybe maybe Sprinkling a gray or a breeder.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
That's true, you know what, never, that's a great prediction.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
That's a really strong that's a strong, bold prediction about that.

Speaker 4 (48:52):
I like that one.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
All right, added to the sheet. What else you got?
You said you had a couple.

Speaker 9 (48:58):
Yeah, well, I'll follow up with you know, I'll preface
this and say that I realized that Pro Bowl is
one part popularity contest, one part performance on the field.
But the Yeah, it's been a while since we've had
several giants though, and I think that this season we

(49:18):
could get five in the pants.

Speaker 2 (49:23):
Because last year it was just SA and Deck. Correct.

Speaker 5 (49:26):
Yeah, I think you're right.

Speaker 9 (49:28):
Yeah, So who Thomas makes the leap for sure.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
Year?

Speaker 9 (49:35):
And then it's going to be you know, it depends
on who steps up here, but I think Darren Waller
is perfectly capable of it. And then it's going to
be some combination of Daniel Jones with that great season.
I'm predicting for him, Bob, Bobby o'carake or Xavier McKinney, one.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
Of those guys.

Speaker 2 (49:58):
Wow, that's impressive, and so you don't, all right, I
like that one Bill saying five Giants to the Pro
Bowl this year. Well, and the Giants fans get in
your Pro Bowl votes to make sure you help about
Bill with his bold prediction. I'm here for it.

Speaker 8 (50:14):
I'm here for it.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
I'm thinking I like that five guys. Okay, I like
that five guys.

Speaker 9 (50:24):
One last thing just for.

Speaker 4 (50:25):
This week, okay, okay.

Speaker 9 (50:26):
And so Week one I think is a lot all
about well not all. I mean, obviously the player's got
to play, but I think that the week on one
matchups coaching is really really important. And so my bold
prediction for this week is that at the end of
the week, the Giants and the Commanders to the top
the NFC East that want to oh, and the Eagles

(50:48):
and Cowboys both lose. I think the Eagles lose to Belichick.

Speaker 4 (50:53):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Wow, that's another bold prediction prediction. Bill's getting bold with it.
I respect that Tuesday morning he's coming out swinging.

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Yeah, let's see Eagles blues to the Patriots first game. Well,
it's Belichick. You never know.

Speaker 2 (51:08):
Belichick's been playing mind game. There was a period of
time where Mac Jones was the only quarterback on that
roster after cut day. So yeah, he's been just doing
he's making his own rules over there, and I respect.

Speaker 4 (51:18):
It could be interesting. We'll see interesting that.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
This is why we're gonna be locked in on week
one of the NFL seasons.

Speaker 4 (51:25):
It's gonna be a big game. It's gonna be some
a lot of big games.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
It'll be fun, great stuff. Bill, thanks so much for
the bold predictions.

Speaker 9 (51:31):
Yeah, thanks for taking my call. Of course.

Speaker 2 (51:33):
Of course, enjoyed the time with the two month old,
some quality time with the fam to a one nine
three nine four five one three. Speaking of coaching, that
one of the storylines I think people are gonna be
monitoring as well this weekend. Jalen Hyatt, Giants rookie wide receiver, speedster,
fast guy. A lot of fuss was made about that
video of Cowboys wide receivers coach Robert Prince, you know,

(51:57):
kind of having notes on Okay, well, what kind of
kind of route run are you? Yeah? A little bit,
a little bit, And I think I'm wondering if you know,
if you're Jalen Hyatt, does that matter to you. I mean,
we talked about the Colorado game, the college game earlier
in the show today and how Shador Sanders was saying, Hey,

(52:17):
I remember when the TCU offensive coordinator wouldn't give me
the time of day. So I want to go out
on the field and show them, show them what I'm
working with here. I mean, if do you think Jalen
Hyatt's following this away and being like, all right, let
me show you what kind of route tree I can do.

Speaker 4 (52:29):
I don't know. I mean, like it depends on like
how mad the person made you, if you take it
personal or not, or if here's a great one. When
I when I was like coming out and doing all
the test for the coaches and the teams, one particular team,
like you know, they were there to see my roommate.
They were there to see Derek Thomas. I'm like, all right,

(52:50):
that's cool, go see Derek. That's great. Yeah, how I
need you to work out, you know, show us some
stuff and blah blah. Like Jimmy Johnson says to me,
he goes like he goes, well, you know, I don't
know how fast you are. I don't know, you know,
maybe just want to draft you, you know, hopefully you'll
you know, have a have a chance in the league
and like hopefully, like that's kind of funny, that's cute, coach,
and then Derek tells him like, yeah, you probably don't

(53:12):
want to make it mad. He goes like yeah, okay.
And then the first time we played Dallas, I crushed
their linebackers and I walked by and said, hey, coach,
good to see you. The next time we played him,
I would just continuously talk to him on the sideline
every time we'd run a sweep in his direction or
if they threw me the ball, just to make sure
he remembered that he was talking to me. But that
was because it was personal.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
Yea, it's like and I took that personally.

Speaker 4 (53:36):
Yeah, But Hya has a different kind of like spot
like he wants to be He wants to catch the
ball right. He can run some hot routes if he
get If he gets his hands on the ball, then
he shows out. But if he runs a streak and
blows by and catches the touchdown, that's great, but it
doesn't prove his point. If he goes up and runs
a nice route and loses a guy and then catches
the ball, like the route he had to touchdown in

(53:58):
the preseason where he right made one move the guy
look back when he looked back, when he looked up,
how I was standing in the end zone. Right. That's
going to impress coaches, But again they're gonna be like, well,
it's just a deep ball. So that that's why if
he's going to go run routes and he can perfect
this route, so we got to catch it when he
comes out of the break and get going. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (54:16):
Yeah, but I don't know. I think like I think
that's kind of one of those mindsets you've got as
a professional athlete, is that somebody who's playing at this
level is like, Okay, let me continually week in and
week out.

Speaker 4 (54:26):
You always want to, as we say, you always put
put your audition tape together because you never know what
next week brings.

Speaker 2 (54:32):
You never know what next week brings. I can't believe
we are so close to game day. I feel like
we've been talking about what we're going to see this
season forever and now we are just five sleeps away
from Sunday night football or wait four, wait because it's
Tuesday Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (54:47):
I just get I just caught. I just caught onto
the sleep sting. I'm like, what is she talking about? Sleep?

Speaker 2 (54:52):
You got you go to sleep five times, and after
five sleeps it's game day.

Speaker 4 (54:56):
I don't know. I take naps, so like, I'm not
really sure all those sleep things like.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Okay, then that's I don't know how to do math,
my math on how many sleeps you are away from it.
It's going to be like your math and figure out
how many sacks.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
Actually going to bed or on my couch or like
what was happening with you.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
I'm just dozing off a little bit with a cigar
in your hands.

Speaker 4 (55:15):
Oh no, no, no, no, don't set myself on fire.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
Oh yeah, no, don't do that, do that fire hazard?
All right. Sunday night football. One player you've got.

Speaker 4 (55:24):
Your eye on for the entire night, one place, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
One player you are most looking forward to seeing on
this field Sunday night.

Speaker 4 (55:32):
Hmmm. One player Simmons.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Simmons, Oh, that'll be a good one. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
I think that he's going to be an element to
the game for wink Week's defense. That's going to ratchet
it up a little bit. He's going to be, like
I said, he is gonna luckily shot out of a cannon.
He's gonna be moving so fast. It's going to be
interesting to see how what Dallas has to do to like,
you know, come front and get in front of him

(55:59):
and slow him down when he starts to do and
all that. Then they're gonna pull got away from Mojilari
and Thibodeau. Yeah, so it's gonna that's going to be,
you know, and the balls are going to be coming
out quick. The ball's gonna be it's not gonna be deep.
Rouse is gonna be short inside rouse and quick slants
and everything. And that brings into those young corners and
the safety and which means McKinnon could have a stellar

(56:20):
day because that leads to tip balls. And you know,
you're throwing over Dexter Lawrence and and Big and the
big cat in there, and they're both like six ' eight.
I'm just joking there, like sixty six. But you're throwing
over two giant guys and if you get, they get,
they get their hands up and tips of balls. It
could be an interesting night.

Speaker 2 (56:38):
It could be an interesting night. Indeed. Uh, I've also
got my own sterling Shepherd. Yeah, sterling shepherd. Because you
know number one, this is the longest tenured giant on
this roster. Number two. I mean you remember that Dallas
game is when he went out with that ACL injury
last year. So he's getting back on the field kind
of picking up where he left off after that incredible recovery.

(56:58):
And you know, he was having a strong start of
the season. He had a really good game against Tennessee
in one, and so I'm just looking forward to seeing
him get back out there because he's just one of
those feel good guys too. You know, he's a guy
that is easy to root for. Chip's going to be
a great one. But yes, in Paris, I want Paris. Yeah,
I mean all these wide receivers.

Speaker 4 (57:19):
I mean, I know some of the obvious names, but
Paris is a good is a name to that. Okay,
let's see what this kid does. Like, let's see how
really he's fast. Like we see him making quick moves
and running and running all these precise ralse with rhythm
and stuff. I see him go deep a couple of
times and see what happens. That's why I'm saying. It's like,
it's like we got three guys that can burn it

(57:40):
down the field at the same time. So it's gonna
be interesting.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
Yeah, I mean, we really only saw a very limited.

Speaker 4 (57:45):
Amount of except for every day in practice.

Speaker 2 (57:48):
Well yes, but I mean that's different like of what
this offense looks like against another team in that one series.
So we'll see, uh, we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 4 (57:58):
I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
