Speaker 1 (00:00):
Obviously Tristan works out there with a bit of a
wrap on his right knee.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Is that something that's lingering from last year that happened
in the off season.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Uh, that's precautionary. It's the off season. He'll be fine
in training camp.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
For other guys they do we're working today once you
had to trade.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Hock free seem Uh, it's a little next up working out,
he'll be fine training camp.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Or Tratton how they got he wally see in Opa
or year?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
What what's he doing the same thing next up? Hopefully
training camp.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Thoughts on Jaco carriage today?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Uh, I saw him drop a pick. I can't say
I watched him completely. He's gotta come down with that,
so he'll probably hear about that.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
You can get a chance to watch.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Uh get in today now he came in in shape.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
He flew around everything we thought he would be flying around.
So happy with him.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Would you get a stack yet?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
M T shirt and shorts? Down? A T shirt and shorts?
Speaker 5 (00:55):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
George Edwards was calling the place today at the defense,
they give you the opportunity to to watch more the
offense today was at Kuh what your purview was today?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
No, it was similar last year. Just to call it period,
I gotta be neutral in that period, So I take
turns each day. Uh, which side we wanna be on?
Or I wanna be on sor to speak? So and
as well as developed the coordinators on both sides of
the ball A the coach, would.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
You make up the red zone and goal line competition there.
Speaker 6 (01:19):
At the end?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Penalty at the end on the defense obviously, Uh, they
made a player or two, but again shorts and t shirt.
The line can't block like they want to and the
defense can't tee off like they want to. So it'
it's it was a good spirited competition.
Speaker 7 (01:34):
H have Do you feel Pike is the advancing at all?
Speaker 3 (01:37):
If you kind of move him around a little bit year.
He's a very smart player, so he understands football, so
he fits in the spot well. When you get him pass,
you'll see a lot more of the physicality and things
that take place with the linemen. But right now I'm
very happy with him.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
You mentioned Parage could play outside of job. We're seeing
a lot of 'em dicular day. Is that it seem
like where he's gonna begin promily the trend.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
No, he plays outside and just the uh lack of
nickels we have with Izzy down right now. In order
for him to get all his reps in, we put
'em outside and inside, we'd be taxing him and he'd
be going twice as much as everybody else. So we
try to limit it. Uh, this camp or I did
it definitely today.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
You speak about JJ Robert, don't wanna be a drafted
free agents you brought in.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
He's very intriguing. Uh. We saw a lot of things
on tape. They saw a lot of things on tape.
The scouts as well when we got in here. Uh,
very fast. He's got the speed of a corner on
the athleticism of a corner. But he can definitely hit
you and play safety. So he's got versatility and the
more we look at him, he'll be interesting. Gotta watch
when the past come on.
Speaker 8 (02:37):
What have you seen from Jake Majors.
Speaker 9 (02:38):
It seems like he's jumped into that kind of center
to snapping taking those snaps there.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
What have you seen from him so far?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
He's been very smart. He's picked up the system pretty good.
He understands the blocking schemes. Again, when we getting paths
like what we see right now. But in paths the
line and usually show out a little more.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Tar of coach.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
What's the type of Chris Godwin moving forward?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Uh, he's rehabbing inside right now, doing everything inside, and
when the trainers tell me he's ready to go outside,
we'll take a look at him outside.
Speaker 7 (03:08):
Kind How do you feel like Rashaan has handled this role? Where?
Speaker 8 (03:12):
What fuck?
Speaker 7 (03:13):
He has emerged his as a leak back on the team,
and really even going back last year having.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
To split his time with him, I mean, he's been fine.
So I was a pro. He's gonna play football, He's
gonna do his job when he gets in there. He's
great around the guys, he's great for the team. He
we been through this last year. It's not anything that's
a surprise right now. I mean it's it was very
similar last year and nothing's changed. Part out of talking
(03:40):
or know of that. And sometimes when it's hot and
you get fatigue, you talk more to uh to hide
your play. So we'll see on the.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Tape Anthony Walker one of those guys chirping it.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
He's always chirping. But he's in shape, and I know,
I s I saw him play and I'm very happy
we go.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
So you had, uh something.
Speaker 9 (03:57):
Different with some monitors up there showing replace with the
previous playing practice.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
What was that all about?
Speaker 9 (04:01):
When did you adopt that and and what what does
that provide you on the field.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
It's a test right now, you know, we're we're running
some tests right now. It it's another option other than
the tablet's on the sideline right now for practice, so
they can see their plays after it happens, all the
way up until the next play goes. So it's something
we're trying out, taking a look at and evaluating this
commni camp and we'll make a decision on it going
forward after that.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Uh. This is second year in the system for all trash.
He seems to be really in command of it. Do
you speak to where he is? And you're five of
this time with the Buccaneers, but your two.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
In in this system. He's been picking it up pretty good. Again,
Colin needs a chance to play, obviously with Baker and
then Tom before that. It's hard to play when he
got two great quarterbacks in front of him. But he's
picking up the system very well. He understands where to
go with the football and he's a confident gun.
Speaker 9 (04:49):
Do you sense a a change with this team at all.
As far as attitude demeanor come into this maybe a
mini camp compared to last year.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Uh, I think it's more chemistry coming in cause the
guys have been together for a year and it's been
a lot of the same guys and they welcome the
new guys as well. So going forward, we'll continue to
develop the chemistry and the confidence will come as they
make each other better.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
What should have been that chemistry was starting to build
them throughout the season last year.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I thought it built early on, but you know, a
lot of pieces, a lot of new guys had to
play here and there. Hopefully we can stay healthy and
it continues to build even more.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
What are you looking to get out of the more
constitute is.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
The mental aspect of understanding the game. We gotta be
a smart football team, so uh right now, when you
don't have paths on, you really gotta be smart players
and understand the game and the situation as well. So
if we can get that out of the next two days,
I'll be happy.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
You almost expect more out of them just because they
are in like you said, T shirt and shorts.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Expect more at 'em. Whether they're in T shirt and shorts,
ordering paths. You gotta get better every day. You can't
just live in yesterday.
Speaker 9 (05:52):
A couple of practices in how do you feel those
college careers are are going for Josh And how do
you think it's helping them?
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I mean, I think it helps them a great deal.
It's worked and progress. Obviously, again without pad you can't
really see it, but understanding situations for him, uh, and
seeing it rapid fire and not having it on a sheet,
it can only help him.
Speaker 10 (06:10):
But sure, okay, you're us.
Speaker 8 (06:23):
LA.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Carl was one of my favorite players when he was here. Uh,
always joking but yet serious at the same time.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
He played very hard on the field. He's a very
good pass rush for us, and for him to have
that done, I think that's outstanding.
Speaker 10 (06:39):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
He's a very intelligent guy. He's gonna do great things
and you know, I don't expect anything less from him.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
How's the h I'll get into you.
Speaker 8 (06:53):
Uh, it's been really good, I think just Uh.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Obviously the transition from Liam to to grizz has been uh,
really really smooth. Guys just taking ownership of it. Obviously
it helps when you have the same pieces back. But
then obviously the new additions the new guys we have,
just making sure that when we're teaching it and installing it,
it doesn't the little details don't slip under the rug.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
You don't take anything for granted. But it's it's been
a really good offseason.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
Now's the time to, you know, get some chemistry down,
really get an understanding of the offense.
Speaker 8 (07:20):
And I think we're in a in a good place
right now.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Obviously there's always room for improvement, but good to have
Mike back out there today and just to see how
it's all coming together.
Speaker 10 (07:27):
He texted Jason, where you excited about drafting and Mecca
just wanted to be seen from him.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
So far as the Tommy work together, Yeah, obviously the
physical tools. At this level, you gotta have talent. Obviously
he has that being a first round draft pick. The
thing that sticks out is how cerebral he is. He's
so smart right now. I think we could plug and
play in any receiver spot. He understands the offense that well.
And that's that's just him being a pro already. And
(07:54):
he's not a rookie. He doesn't knack like it at least,
so it's been really good to see him take that ownership.
He takes it extremely serious, but he's in constant communication.
He always wants to be in the right spot at
the right time, and he's he's much like j Mack
of the understanding and zone coverage and Chris as well
of understanding when to be open the voids in the
zone defense and how to be friendly to the quarterback.
Speaker 8 (08:15):
So it's it's a it's a nice luxury to have
to have a.
Speaker 11 (08:18):
Consistency with this offense second year in a row, and
orders you're gonna get more responsibility from the line of scrimage.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
How does that help you and and the team just
developed take this.
Speaker 6 (08:27):
To the next level.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
Yeah, I mean you look at the foundation that we
tried to you know, instill last year, and we obviously
evolved throughout the year in the season.
Speaker 8 (08:35):
So it's it's nice to be able to for guys
to not have to learn it from scratch.
Speaker 11 (08:38):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
There's obviously a few tweaks and things, motions and different
things that Grizz wants to get done, which is which
is great to always if you're not trying to get better,
you're not gonna survive. So we're doing that right now.
And so for for me, it's continuing to communicate over
communicate at the line of scrimmage. That was that was
a big step last year was a responsible a line
of scrimage like you mentioned, but take it to the
next level, really really take ownership over communicate to where
(09:01):
when we get a certain pressure or coverage, guys know
what I'm gonna check to And that's that's the part
that I have to continue to try and elevate everybody
else around me and then take that ownership.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Is there a little bit more of a vertical element
of the passing game this year?
Speaker 4 (09:15):
You sense that?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Yeah, I mean we're we're we're trying to get some
more explosive Obviously when you look at the stats. Not
a big stat guy, but we weren't as much down
the field explosives. We were creating a lot of open
in the middle and guys getting some yak. But yeah,
working on that, being able to connect on to the
chemistry we're trying to build right now, and just the
timing of some of these routes where the landmarks are
understanding if it's too high, one high where we're trying
(09:38):
to throw the ball. So, yeah, this is the time
of you were working on it. Obviously you would love
to have more down the field shots, but any completion
is a good one.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
And actually take about you running a little bit less
of the year, even though you were already effective at it.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Coaches like the talk of this time of the year.
They just they sit around and watch tape. They are
trying to win games. Like like I tell you, guys,
it's football. There's a time and place on third Down's
got to have it situations where I'm gonna try and
do everything I can to get the first down or
whatever it is that we need. But there's also a
time and place to throw the ball away. I think
(10:13):
when it comes to protecting myself, I think the biggest
thing is the sack number, and a lot of that
was holding on the ball.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
And there's there's give and take.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
There's the scramble element of trying to create explosive plays,
but there's also situations.
Speaker 8 (10:24):
In the game where are we at, are we leading,
are we down? Do we need something? Don't force it,
just throwing the ball away and trusting our defense to.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Get it back to us.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
A couple of months ago about.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
You know, a lot of times when we would start fast,
there's always that lull and I think in the past
two years of just me being here overall, you stand
back and look at the beginning of the season to
the middle of the season, it's not getting satisfied, always
hitting the reset button, whether it's the next week.
Speaker 8 (10:53):
Or the next series, next play. So, uh, that killer
instinct is it doesn't matter what we're doing, we gotta
we gotta put teams away when we're ahead.
Speaker 10 (11:00):
When you're talking about law or talking about in games
who are also like a season because the last three
roupiece have also been to fight your way out of
a little bit of a.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Hooling season for dis Yeah, obviously there there's been different
circumstances and things that have contributed the the mid season lowls,
But I don't I wouldn't say it's anything with the
preparation or week to week.
Speaker 8 (11:19):
It's just guys just executing doing their job.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
And that's what you really try and hone in on
the back end of the season is once you know
a team, your scheme, you're not installing a whole lot
of new plays, so you really got to do the
little details well. And so that's that's really the interestis
right now, is is guys just trusting each other to
do the job and continuing to do it.
Speaker 9 (11:34):
A couple of young guys, Has Johnson rookie and Jake Majors,
who's obviously taking snaps some center, and then Devin Culp.
The three pose three guys looking to take a jump
in to the next level for a year or two
and over the year, what have you seen from them?
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Yeah, I think Jake's done a really good job this.
This offense commands a lot of the center. It really
does mentally obviously physically blocking those big boys up front,
but uh, he's done a really good job handling the
mental aspect of it.
Speaker 8 (12:01):
Devin's continuing to make strides for us.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
He was obviously had a little bit of a showcase
last year, but continuing to grow and understand what we're
trying to get done. He's got so much physical talent,
so it's about putting that all together and uh, Tes
Johnson's a guy that obviously a later draft pick, but
a lot of talent, A little guy, but really explosive,
understands how to win on leverage. One of those guys
you really can't touch in a phone booth, so it's
(12:23):
fun to watch him release off press coverage, So we're
just trying to get as many people involved. Obviously last
year we understood that you're gonna need a lot more
than just your your starting eleven, So trying to get
everybody to elevate their standard and be ready.
Speaker 7 (12:35):
To go, and stepping out into more of a leadership role,
being a little bit more vocal. He said, he meaned
on you and and Haines seeing other guys last year,
he knows that he has to take a.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
Step in that direction.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
He's still a rookie till Game three. But Graham's done
a great job.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
And that's that that old line room last year, and
hats off to Hainesy how he handled it. But also Graham,
you know, leaning on his veterans, not trying to do
it all himself, and so he's definitely taken a huge
step in the leadership role. I mean, we're gonna continue
to ask him to do that, and that's that's much
like you know, Tristan's not exactly a vocal guy, but
he's gonna continue to be asked to be a leader.
And so Graham's done a great job. Obviously, having a
(13:13):
year under your belt, the game slows down a lot,
so him. Just being able to control those guys and
get them all on the same page is huge for us.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Here in Tampa.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
A lot of change your death.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
It's a cord here coon there.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
But personally and professionally, how subtle are you in this
franchise with this this talent.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Yeah, I mean I've said it since the beginning, this
this feels like home that it has and it continues
to feel better and better. Just like I said many times,
they allow me to be myself in the best version
of that and so that that's the best part, and
so understanding that I'm around a lot of the same personnel,
allowed to and able to get a lot more out
of the guys. And so obviously I'm happy to be here,
(13:52):
happy to have a home. But we have a lot
of unfinished business and things that we need to do
to take the next step. We're not just you know,
it's not just about a division title. It's about making
a run for the super Bowl and a deeper playoff front.
And that's that's the attention to detail, the focus and.
Speaker 8 (14:05):
Strain that it's gonna take for us to take it
to the next level. And I think we have the
pieces to do it.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
Any memories playing against.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Yeah, he's pretty damn fast off the edge. He's a
great player. I know everybody wants to make a big
deal about when he's gonna be here when he's not,
but uh, he's a good guy and there's a reason
he signed here. He wants to help us win and
we're happy to have him today.
Speaker 8 (14:27):
A lot of chirp and the red zone there Anthony
Walker talking. Do you like that?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
And then what does it do for the team?
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Ay, Walk and I go back to our Cleveland days. Uh,
so we've had a great relationship since then. But it's uh,
it's always great to we Coach Bull said it last
week he can't talk trash until you know your job,
and Anthony Walker is a great veteran that understands his
job and what he needs to get done. So elevating
the center in practice the competition level is good for everybody.
And so yeah, you you want to see that as
long as guys are doing their job.
Speaker 8 (14:56):
Yeah, agree to be able to put something on like
that from the Yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Yeah, obviously hoping it's not too hot for the guys,
but uh, uh no, it's it's great to be able
to give back in the community and be able to celebrate, Uh,
the sport that I get to play, that I that
I love and adore so much, and so being able
to give it back and have fun with kids is awesome.
And obviously the Bucks and the Glacier family allowing us
to do it here means a lot. So these guys
(15:22):
get to see where we're at every day, and that's
that's a special moment.
Speaker 8 (15:25):
So I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
So I talked a little bit about the spirit of
practice today.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
It was a lot of sure thinking on on out.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
But did it make it a little bit more fun
for you?
Speaker 8 (15:35):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (15:35):
Yeah? Makes it a lot of guys out there competing
giving it. They all went out there, everybody trying to
get better and push one another.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
Yeah, and you can't complining about that at all. It
comes with the game.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Wish i'd you're really good shape this the song season.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
What what have you been doing to kind of lean down,
muscle up and maybe you get even a tick faster.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 12 (15:56):
I think it was my mom set. Uh yeah, just
trying to sure I slimmed back down, uh kind of
you know. Obviously, I uh last year I played out
I wanna uh go back and look at uh some
of the things I did, like back of Arizona State,
or like uh coming in the league, like my body
wise and what it looked like, and uh just wanted
to shave it up right and be able to move
around more better than I was these the last two years.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
So or were you weight wise? And where are you now?
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (16:21):
Now I'm to twelve the past two years. For my
second year, I was about like two twenty three. Last year,
I was about like two twenty one, two twenty.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
I was a been feeling getting out there with that weight.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
So far got yeah how living Uh just been feeling smooth. Uh,
I'm able to uh go longer. Uh, I'm able to
be quicker in and out of cuts.
Speaker 12 (16:39):
Uh, just able to put my body in certain positions
that Uh the past two year, I don't think I
was able to do as much as as well as
I was my rookie year.
Speaker 10 (16:46):
Were y'all with the weight loss about you know how
your body holds up in past parlor side?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
No?
Speaker 6 (16:51):
Yeah, yeah, it's just a mindset thing. You just gotta
have a lot of heart.
Speaker 12 (16:54):
I mean, uh, you know, uh, everybody, every player, everybody
out there, you know, sticking they face and something uh
for you know, the guy next to 'em.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
So that's the same thing, shout, I get a really
talented during the bat us. Just your bold change is
just of all those scenes.
Speaker 13 (17:06):
What what did you feel?
Speaker 7 (17:08):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (17:08):
I don't know. I'm just going, uh going with the flow. Uh,
I'm blessed. I'm going to my year flour. I'm healthy.
Speaker 12 (17:14):
I'll you know, just off season being able to you know,
just take a uh a step back and uh be grateful,
be appreciative for everything you know that's been uh going
on that's transpired, and uh, I'm just blessed.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
So I don't know.
Speaker 12 (17:26):
We, like you said, we're very talented and uh when
we all touch the field up, we all just try
to make the most and push each other.
Speaker 9 (17:31):
For sure, you mention it was your form shot right
kind of your free agent or the next year, but
most of something on social media last ride?
Speaker 4 (17:38):
What did that tea? Really?
Speaker 12 (17:39):
I would just bob into some country music. Uh yeah,
just I was in the country mode. Uh, I mean
I had a cowboy hat on. I mean some people
saw my polls for my camp. Okay, I had a
cowboy hat on.
Speaker 6 (17:48):
I would just bob into some country music great the country. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
for sure.
Speaker 12 (17:52):
You know what I mean, I like music in general
all genres, uh, besides a lot like heavy metal rock
and all that.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
I can't get into all that.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Shot.
Speaker 8 (17:59):
What are your thoughts learn Josh's Arty's offense.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Uh thout the off season.
Speaker 12 (18:03):
Uh, it's been smooth. Uh it's been some different transitions. Uh,
different verbage, different wrinkles that he added in. Obviously, we
we all think highly of coach Gris, how smart he is, uh,
everything that he stands for. Uh he got some slack toing,
uh poise, calm, cool, collected, so uh we love that
about him. He also just pushes us. But it's been small,
but it's been a great transition for everybody.
Speaker 8 (18:24):
You're one of the best, you know running back route
runners in the league.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Just what can you do to kind of televiate your being.
Speaker 13 (18:31):
More into system with plas?
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (18:33):
I think, uh, you know, I mean just co coach
Gris talking about just uh you know, maybe just attacking
every play, you know, making a lot of my routes,
just going just trusting what I I got going on
my ability and uh just going up and making play
with the ball come.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
So it does it seem like this offense to pass
me it wants to get a little more vertical.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
You know, you had to touchdown against Green Bay a
couple years ago and had some of the duel routes
down the sidelines, wheel routes all that you feel like
there's a.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Little bit more of a passing beats.
Speaker 6 (19:01):
Yeah, I mean I think it's uh. Uh, I think
coach Gris has yet then a lot of like adding
a lot of different.
Speaker 12 (19:05):
Wrinkles uh uh with the backs uh meet Bucky and
things like that, being bib be able to both uh
be split out and uh when we don't field at
the same time and be able to run different routes
and uh give different looks and uh give different concepts
and you know, being over for us to be interchangeable
things like that. And uh, I mean we didn't did
a great job as off see and say, yeah, I
pretty sure were gonnaush the bard ut out in the field.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
We got a lot of weapons, So yeah.
Speaker 7 (19:26):
I try, how do you handle this this uh camp
knowing that Bucky's gonna get more of the the lead
role and during the season and and how can you
still be supportive and and continue to add to what
this offense is and everything that's returning.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
Yeah, yeah, I mean our relations just speak for yourself.
Speaker 12 (19:42):
Uh Uh Bucket has done a great job, you know,
and uh, our relationship, it don't it don't go based
off of like, uh who gets the more reps things
like that. We both try to help each other all out,
and uh that's what it's about. We both try to
push each other. So uh, how I go in the
mindset is just uh keep competing, keep making him better
as well as he keep making me better and uh
mongs us both uh great and being better. I mean
it's gonna make our team better. So yeah, it don't
(20:03):
matter me.
Speaker 9 (20:04):
Try if you've been the uh you've been the young
guy in the room, now you're the vet in the rooms,
chases in here, letting it's not here.
Speaker 8 (20:10):
This is your running back room.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
You got you gotta go rookie in there too.
Speaker 9 (20:14):
What's it been like to be actually be like the
veteran voice in the room and what is uh what's
Josh's rookie duties.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
In tailing right now? Uh?
Speaker 6 (20:22):
Oh man, you just implied I'm getting old, bro.
Speaker 12 (20:27):
Nah, but uh it's been crazy, like I said, it's
just been Uh you see the transition over the years.
Speaker 5 (20:32):
Man.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
Uh, I'm blessed to be a VET in the room.
Speaker 12 (20:35):
I'm blessed to have the young guys kind of look
up to me and uh, you know, and hear me out,
ask me questions things like that, and uh, you know,
I just ate that's room being neat, pure, genuine and
true to the form. And uh, Josh, we we really
haven't figured that out yet, cause it was just men.
Uh you know, mini camping. It's been ota so we
really have n't do much yet. But coming to the
training camp, yeah, you you good. You know, same old
have some snacks in there, Uh, the good amount of
(20:56):
snacks and doing everybody like and uh.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Some drinks and things like that.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Like you speaking of John, what have you seen from
him on the field in terms of the skills that
he brings.
Speaker 12 (21:05):
Man, Uh, it's crazy to me. Buckie talk about him
all the time. W w w w we uh we
we we be loving what we see from him.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (21:11):
He got a great instinct to the game. Uh we
like him. He got good vision. Uh he good. He
just you know, play ball, and uh that's what we
like about him.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Man.
Speaker 12 (21:18):
We we talk about him all the time and Uh
he uh talked to us and ask us questions and
things like that. You know, he got an act for learning.
And that's what I love about our room. Like we
all got an act for learning. We all are smart
and uh we all wanna uh be better New.
Speaker 8 (21:30):
Orleans for uh super Bowl week and all that doing
some media.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
How much being around that?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
How much does that drive you and and make you
kind of think about what would you.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Like to be to be there? Uh in super Bowl? Uh?
Speaker 6 (21:40):
Yeah, man, it's crazy.
Speaker 12 (21:42):
Uh it's crazy, like yeah, like you said, being around that,
but in general, just in general, I mean, I just
like I said, been look looking back. I've been blessed
to micing him tell me all the time since I
came in to be able to make the playoffs every
year of my career so far, and he tell me
about the dark times they had, and you know, how
to cherish the moment.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
So that's all I try to do. I mean, I
try to we all try to look.
Speaker 12 (22:03):
Back and just see how close we was in certain
games these past few years in the playoffs, and and
what we got to do to get over that hump,
and how we gotta come together. So not just being
on media road, just looking at how we lost games
in the playoffs, like a one score game or you
know what I'm saying, and things.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Like that, and how we can get over that hump.
How hungry is this team to?
Speaker 7 (22:20):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (22:21):
I mean I say we starving? You know, Uh I
believe we you know, look at us right now. We
hungry right now, like we're coming out of practice.
Speaker 6 (22:27):
But nah, uh we very yeah, we very Uh we're
very hungry. We're starving.
Speaker 8 (22:33):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
We want it. We wanted for each other.
Speaker 12 (22:35):
We wanted for our bets of course our older guys
and you know, looking at where they at in they
career and how they wanna uh walk off and things
like that. So yeah, the young guys, we wanted for them,
and uh as a collective for Yeah, we're hungry.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Good, thank you, appreciate you.
Speaker 13 (22:48):
Sure you show you made a pretty big splo uh
in the restive work for the back of the end
zone the past break up, cause you think it was
pretty competitive out there to days in the outfits and defense,
how that feel and mini very many kings and what
do you good try for.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
These two days?
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Definitely definitely was a uh a game change to play
uh s So that's the biggest thing.
Speaker 11 (23:05):
We've uh we we uh been basically like uh hampering
on this competing and then finishing every play that we
wasn't lined up, got lined up kind of slow to
just tryna make a play.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
That was the biggest thing.
Speaker 8 (23:15):
What's the transition that like for.
Speaker 10 (23:16):
You going from from I know that the game obviously
plays you know so many snaps, but it's being.
Speaker 12 (23:21):
On the field mouth for uh forever.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
Single down there seven life for you.
Speaker 11 (23:24):
Uh, I've been going real well, uh store rotating in
that niggas, So I've been doing both, uh just trying
to help the team best ways possible.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
But it been going real smooth.
Speaker 7 (23:31):
Take you when you take a step back, how would
you evaluate your your year one in the league and.
Speaker 11 (23:35):
How you did?
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Yeah, just uh this all season.
Speaker 11 (23:38):
I spent time looking back at uh game filming that
I think I I played good halfway through the season
and had some bad games. So this year just looking
to build all that and then be consistent, uh try
try finished this year healthy.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
That would be the biggest thing.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
The techy coach Bulls has made no goones about wanting
more ball hawks. That's something that you were drafted to
be last year. But when you look at seven in
or seventions as a team six months secondary, that's that's
kind of that time acceptable number. What are you guys
doing from a mentality standpoint to improve that number and
to get your hands on more we're takeaway.
Speaker 11 (24:10):
Uh basically just taking more risk being in a position
to make plays and then uh when we get them
opportunities to make the place uh, capitalizing on it.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
That's the biggest thing.
Speaker 9 (24:17):
Like you, what's come the most difficult part of the
transition to safety as you moved there to more of
in every down roll?
Speaker 11 (24:23):
Uh? The biggest thname be more uh communication uh me
happen to get everybody to call and translit everybody to
call and and make sure everybody in the same page.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
That have been the biggest p's a company.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
That is that something that's notapual for you to be
more vocal outre Uh yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
No doubt.
Speaker 11 (24:35):
Uh definitely looking to grow into that that more of
a vocal role. So I've been coming on real smooth.
Speaker 10 (24:39):
What about those meetings now wout you guys have as
an entire secondary as opposed to individual position groups.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
How could that help you to be more commun communicated.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
Out on the field.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Uh, I think that been going real well. Also. Uh,
I think that's a big difference from last year.
Speaker 11 (24:51):
It's us being able to meet together, being able to
see go through the meet and go through the film
and see how everybody will see it. Cause uh, I
think meeting in different rooms, one might see it one
way while other might see it another way.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
So be bands that we all together able to talk
it through.
Speaker 10 (25:03):
Does it also helped it back to that like you've
you're playing al you played multiple positions in this defense.
You're playing multiple positions in this defense as far as
kind of helping everybody, uh like I guess create that synergy.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
In the secondary.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Uh yeah, that definitely helped.
Speaker 11 (25:16):
Uh with me playing Nickel uh then now moving in safety,
kind of knowing more than one position, just trying to
be versatile. So if any scenarios come up, Uh, we
just got versatility on the backing.
Speaker 9 (25:25):
You've got a influx of talent, rookie talent in that
room as far as safety's and cornerbacks. Who's kind of
jumped out to in either room stood out the most
as is someone that you thinks can making an immediate
impact theirself.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
See I think I think Beniness stand out.
Speaker 11 (25:39):
I think JP still I also uh just younger guys
that we gonna need to rely on and see this.
Uh just need them to keep coming along and keep
second days.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Take here and making the move from nickel to safety.
How much have you leaned on Antoine Winfield Junior or
somebody that.
Speaker 6 (25:50):
Did that so, uh leaned on Home a lot.
Speaker 11 (25:53):
Uh just being on her band out there with him
give me more confidence with the communication part and uh
knowing my job and uh just playing off Home that
that been that've been real bit Like.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
He what have you seen from Servasi Adenna stepping into
that mic role and and kind of leaving the huddle
and the making the falls.
Speaker 11 (26:08):
Out there for seeing a lot from him, just him
being able to be a game changer to play in
the middle.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
Uh kind of saw that in the beginning of the
season last year.
Speaker 11 (26:15):
Uh then just to see him pick up where he
left off at during OTA's and now Minik have been
a a real blessing to have 'em.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Is it fair to say coach Bowls tweaking the coverages
a little bit, maybe giving you guys more aggressive?
Speaker 6 (26:26):
Is the philosophicals that teams a little bit?
Speaker 4 (26:30):
I don't.
Speaker 11 (26:31):
I wanted to say, say tweaking the coverage, but he
just uh emphasizing on agetting takeaway, So that that been
the biggest thing.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
Like you, I know, I'm won a super Bowl though
you were on some pretty prolific college teams.
Speaker 8 (26:41):
Just in this offseason to build up about.
Speaker 7 (26:44):
This team, does this have the vibe of some of
a group that has the championship, had a recif to
make that sort of run.
Speaker 11 (26:50):
No, yeah, no doubt definitely got the pedigree to make
that run. So now just being able to go out
there and execute give goals to.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
When the when the division, when the conference on the
super Bowl? What are some of your first off goals?
Speaker 11 (27:02):
Uh, my personal goal just being a better version of myself,
having a better season than I did last year.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
And then being there to be a game changer player.
Speaker 10 (27:08):
What's your off season version you've been like, because you know,
it's really hard when you go for being a college player,
especially if you're playing in you know, postseason games, your
whole games, championship games, and you don't really get your
body a chance to rest us.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
So, like how important was that for.
Speaker 13 (27:23):
You going into this offseason?
Speaker 8 (27:24):
What what was your schedule like with that.
Speaker 11 (27:27):
Uh, I think I think, uh just meet this would
be my first off season cause uh the last couple
year that Georgia would be playing like national championship, So
like the national championship woul be on the first day
you start class, so we never really had a break.
Then you'll go right into all season chains. So this's
been like the first off season I really got to pass.
I think I needed that all season to kind of
get my body back. Was still dealing with like the
little knee injury last year, So think I need that
time off like that fully ill and then just aking
(27:49):
the vets.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
How they handled the off season, like how long they
took off Tiday before they got right back to work.
So that was the biggest thing.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
How very ard to get the.
Speaker 11 (27:56):
I mean once I got back, I mean I was healthy,
but still was still a litt linger and so uh
still was rehabing it.
Speaker 9 (28:02):
How much do you feel like just having to focus
on football and off the combine and the draft and
all that stuff coming into this offseason, having that time
to a lock has helped prepare you to to take
your players that next level.
Speaker 11 (28:14):
Just me not having the me being here to control
control more to controls, and I had to worry about day,
am I gonna get drated? Worre I'm gonna get drafted
to not really stressing that. So now knowing where I'm
meant and being my feet are, then just me beingna
take my game.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
To the next local for me coming in and you're
two more.
Speaker 9 (28:27):
Confident and going into season two again you're not dealing
with new coaches, new city and do everything you're right, You're.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Grounded, knowing the playbook. What do you expect out of
yourself this year?
Speaker 11 (28:36):
Uh, just to play way more fans, to be more comfortable,
and then like I said, kind of growing to that
more of a vocal leader on the becking.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Have you noticed any other players on the defensive side
that have kind of stepped up in terms of being
a vocal leader.
Speaker 11 (28:48):
U va stepped up? Uh cool, being stepping up a lot.
So yeah, I would say I'm too. Definitely been stepping
over ya ya yah the ibaby. Also, what would it.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Like to see UH sign out there today?
Speaker 4 (29:01):
And and what did she bring to this defense? Uh?
Speaker 11 (29:03):
It was real good to see I signed out there,
saw him in the beginning of UH training camp. Uh,
I got to talk to him about that catching up
tip of bands that we from up the same the
same way basically, Uh, but definitely a blessing.
Speaker 8 (29:13):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Looking for him to be a game training player. Do
you have similarities in your s in your story as
far as.
Speaker 7 (29:18):
As like growing up, I mean kind of not to
the same reason.
Speaker 11 (29:20):
Yeah, probably so, Ben though he fre you right there
from Camus it's about ten minutes away from Philly. Then
heime going to Temple, so it definitely probably got the
same similarities in the story. Yup, thank you.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
You can't take biggers take any tax, teach,
