Speaker 1 (00:00):
Afternoon.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's all looked like your defense had three interceptions today.
Speaker 3 (00:05):
Can you speak to uh? That's some of the ball hawks.
After they getting their hands on some balls.
Speaker 4 (00:10):
Which is a good thing. Still got a lot of
ways to go. I think gave up some plays as well.
But they getting their hands on balls and they flying around.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
You meld, you got one got you were too happy
with you know?
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Uh, he rested in the end zone. It was the
first play. You need to get his get his behind
back and get lined up to play.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I mean you see ticking practice.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Do you see the the good side of the side
or the band side of the offensive?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I see both. I have mixed emotions.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
How happy were getting our hands on balls on that's
the point that we turned the ball over, So I'll
never be happy.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
But just a level of competition last two days. Does
it feel different than past years?
Speaker 5 (00:48):
Does it feel like the defensive you should confer?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
I mean they always it's a lot of back and
forth all the time. It's not like they soft on
them ever, and the offensive is off on the defense either.
It's a lot of back and forth. Oh, the offense
made some good plays and the defense made some good
plays as well. So right now it's a lot of
good give and take.
Speaker 6 (01:05):
Ty, can you talk about the day that Jalen McMillan
had looked like he was heavily involved.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
He caught a lot of balls today and had told
him for his two drops for yesterday. Like the heat
mighta got on his back a little bit and I
probably got on him a little bit as well. But
he came back strong, just like I thought he would,
and he had a very good day.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Buka had a lot of different physically. Chris la Now.
He talked about the art season getting stronger. I remember
the ball guys, you got your down, he sung, share.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
I think he's stronger. You won't see it, but he
is stronger from a playing standpoint, understanding how to play
and understanding the weight program and the conditioning program.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I think he's used to that a lot more now,
so he's more comfortable.
Speaker 7 (01:45):
Toddy Buker got a lot of reps today too, which
the Baker's already got a lot of confidence in him.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
No, we getting caught up fast.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
He's him in Parish are getting an awful lot of
reps right now with people down in injuries, so he's
getting accustomed to the system.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Really good. He's a really smart player.
Speaker 8 (02:00):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
He's a heady player and he understands all the positions.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
So he's getting a lot of time at all over
cause have you seen that a Roman parody so far
came down with another big player.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Seems like he's made a couple.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Of episode football.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
He's got a big six.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
He's still learning the system. He's still learning the system some,
but he's competitive and he's learning every day.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
And uh, I look forward to see him in training
camp once he has the whole system down.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Coach thoughts on College Rash A couple of beautiful de balls.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
He got the same yesterday as well.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
He did.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
He had some de balls, especially on the outside. He
shows some good touch on balls and just gotta cut
down on the turnovers.
Speaker 7 (02:32):
Speaking of eat balls, the the one that was said
or anything as Johnson there and that's in cover.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
He's just you your thoughts on on Johnson's ability to
to bumping.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
And drop the ball and he did the last week.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Kid, Oh, we know he can get down the field.
He has a lot of speed, but he's just not
a speed guy. He's a very good receiver. He's a
route runner. Uh, he's more than a punt returner, he
actually has a chance to be a vital part of
our offense if he keeps trending in the way he's trending.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So I speaking of a return game, can you talk
about how the competition's going to kick return and punt
return in terms of of raising that level of competition.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
With some of your newcomers putting rookies, we catching the ball,
we gotta block it better, obviously, we gotta block it better.
But we have guys that have punt returning kick return,
So be interested in seeing the preseason who actually stands
out under the lights.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
But there's some competition there, so's Plenny talk a little
bit about some of the players in the depth positions
that safety were.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Saying, Yeah, I think you getting a lot of depth
from that standpoint with uh Wisdom Uh coming into his
second year making some plays.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
But then you got JJ and you got.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Shiloh also coming along and learning the system and starting
to get more comfortable and make some plays back there
as well. And that's even with Izzy there, and you
got Winfield obviously, and you got Tykee sitting there, and
you got Merried with her sitting there.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
So we got a lot of guys.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
That's gonna be one of the more heavily competitive spots
once training camp starts.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
So Ty's you got everybody out here pretty much who's
kind of surprised.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
You as far as the young guys, So maybe you
know or some of the you or the last one days.
I don't think any of 'em surprise me.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
They all have a very good work ethic, they're all
pretty bright players, and and they're in very good shape.
So if that that part hasn't surprised me yet, I'll
be waiting for the pads to see who can really show.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Me who can do what we know where it's gonna
have an impact on your place for year. What what
kind of things can be a part of our guy
you like ya yai? How kind of is he going
to be? Is something that I understand.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
It's a good record.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Well, he's been great the last two days talking to
guys on the sideline about hand placement, uh length, what
foot to use, when to go under, when not to
go under, and so he has a lot of leadership
qualities as well, and he he's been outstanding in the
last two days helping the younger guys. So it can
only help y'all. Yah, as far as his hand placement.
Speaker 7 (04:44):
Thought, almost the old starters on this team are gonna
be players that were drafted by this organization.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Uh how rare is that? And uh how much of
an advantage is it for this franchise.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
I'm not sure how rare it is. Haven't checked, and
I haven't even thought of that way. I just we
try to play good players. I'm glad we draft good
players and we gotta keep them there, and you know,
hopefully they're all not up at the same time. So
but they're they're good players. We like our guys that
we draft, and we train them and we trust them,
and we have a good communication system between the scouting
(05:17):
staff and the coaching staff and me and Jason get together.
But I don't think it has any baring on who plays.
They just they're very good players and they fit our
systems well. An advantage in terms of you you've trained
these guys yourself in terms of the system and if
they're familiar with it.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I don't know if it's an advantage it.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
It's good to have homegrown guys that've been here, but
you know, you still have guys like Reddick come in
here and Sterling Shepard that come in here that can
play ball that we're free agents, So those guys help too.
But when you have guys that's ruined the system that
you kind of get from ground one, you probably spend
a little more time with them because they have been
here and the other guys know how to play. But
(05:55):
I don't think it matters or give us an advantage.
It just helps us know we're picking good players that
we can play with.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Tom.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Can you speak to the Logan Hall how much does
it improved the last couple years and maybe.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
What you see of him before this year?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Uh, Logan quietly before I mentioned Voss last week and
probably had the most productive off season that I've seen. Uh,
he's quicker, he's t he keeps his head down and works,
and he's kind of unsung with Chancy and beat.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
It down there. But he he had five sacks last
year and didn't play third downs. But he's very athletic.
He played the run well.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
He has some pass rush movies that we're unlocking still,
and he still has another level that he.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Can get to.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
But from a movement standpoint, very pleased with everything I
saw with Logan this spring.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Uh, Sean said that he was starving.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
This team is starving.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Have you noticed that they're hungry?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Maybe in the past season.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Said that ship is a little bit bigger at that
taste in their mouth is.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
A little bit worse. We're hungrier and we are we
expect more. I mean, we have a standard head.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
We try to hit every year and we try to
keep and the more guys see it, the more guys
that are here, the hunger everyone gets. So we're all
trying to put She tell her to be better from
a coaching standpoint and from a player standpoint, they hold
each other accountable on the field, you know, with be
a better team.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
You mentioned what did you see from him just to day?
Speaker 9 (07:13):
Who that.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Like? Uh? Other than the leadership. He has a quick
first step, and.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
He's he's very strong off the ball, and he knows
how to play football and he knows how to find
creases and get after it.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
So he's he's a very savvy football player. Where's the
most scross you've seen him, Luke over the last few years.
His work ethic has always been there.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Just settling down in his pass pro Uh, he was
always a great rum blocker, settling down to his passport
and understanding different types of bodies that he has to
go against, whether it's speed, whether it's power. Uh. I,
he kind of selled in and understand that he works
at it constantly. He he's one of them guys and
we try to have a walk through period. He's pissed
(07:53):
off because the guy that going cool speed and he
needs to get to work in.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
So but he's seen a lot of growth from a
past set that way.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
So I'm sure you and your coaches have taken a
look at maybe the Falcons, the the Texans.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Some of those early games.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
When do you start introducing that to the players?
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Is that in training camp? Is that interested in?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Like when the season starts, when do they start getting
into some of the film study of those early season opponents.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Oh, we'll start concentrating on 'em somewhere in the middle
of training camp. But who's gonna say they're not doing
those things right now?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Some of the installs, knowingly or unknowingly, are things that
we need to take a look at against certain guys.
So we always sprinkle some things in so when we
have to put it in, they've already been doing it.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
God, when you were a player, this time to hear
you were in a contract year. Did you aidation because
of that? What was that or anythink for edge and contract.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
My rookie year was seventy thousand dollars and my second year,
when we won the Super Bowl started at safety, I
was eighty five thousand dollars and I made more an
incentives than I did in my salary, so we didn't
really have con track years. If you get hurt, somebody's
taking your spot, you better get out and go home.
You don't have that kind of thing today. It's a
completely different game. Uh, you should play the same all
(09:09):
the time. You should practice the same all the time.
And that's what we try to stress and preach. Whether
you're getting paid or not getting paid. I mean, you
didn't get paid in college. They do now, but they
didn't before. But you didn't get paid in high school.
So it's your love of the game that's gonna fuel
you whether the contract comes out or not. So you
will play for the team you're on or you'll play
for somebody else. But either way you better play.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
But you've work eut be of this team multiple times.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
How refreshing is it to have a guy of the
room of guys who just want to work.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
And how's it compared to some of the other stops
that you've been at before with guys And it seems
like all these guys are just doing their job if
you don't have to really monitor, you know, please them
or anything like that.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
The work ethic is similar to other places I've been to,
is just being vocal on the field with each other.
You know, you can take corrections from coaches all day long.
When you see players correcting themselves, which a lot of
'em are doing now, that's when you know you feel
like you're getting better as a team because they're starting
to get on the same page and they starting to
understand where they need to be and notice things.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
God, you're the longest tenured coach in the NFC South.
I don wanna put the jinks on you, but uh,
you put a drinks on uh and and a lot
of people like the trash the division.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Uh when you look around at the other three teams
or what do you see in terms of the challenge.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
It's always a challenge every year in our division. I
don't care what division you in.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
The division games are the toughest ones you play against
because they know you better. Than anybody else, and you
know them better than anybody else, So no matter, you
can add a few wrinkles, but it's gonna come down
the execution. It's gonna come down the uh who makes
less turnovers and understanding. So the Saints, the Falcons, the Panthers,
they're all they're all gonna be tough games every year.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah, the vision.
Speaker 10 (10:53):
You look uh pretty fit and uh you're down here
in this heat down but just uh, how hard have
you been working you?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
I haven't seen you every day of your tears. Extremely hard.
You know, I know how important it is to stay
in shape during this time.
Speaker 8 (11:06):
You know I'll address it because before y'all do nobody
everybody was concerned about me not showing up the oots,
but uh, for me, I J I definitely made sure
to stay in shape.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I think I showed that to everybody out here.
Speaker 8 (11:17):
I don't think it should have been a question, but
just had some things to button up on as I
get ready to make this transition down here, so that way,
once I get here, I ain't gotta worry about nothing.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Back up here.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Ever, You've been ritting this group now for a couple
of days and even during the the phase one. What
is your impression of this young outside energy?
Speaker 8 (11:35):
The energy is lovely out here, man, Like you see
young guys working hard, uh, you know, the atmosphere as
far as just laughing, everybody have a good time, you know,
getting your working. Even seeing the young guys working out
at the practice. I went in and got a left yesterday.
I see a bunch of young guys in my uh
you know, in my position, grouping the and they're getting
to work out in as well. So just to see that,
(11:57):
you know, guys working on their craft but working to
be better.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I like that.
Speaker 7 (12:02):
Talented teams evaluate the talent love and at this team especially.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Up for a bitch. Before I even got here, I knew,
you know, just a couple of pieces away, you know.
Speaker 8 (12:12):
I think last year, I think they lost some playoffs
well on like a Missfield Goode or something like that.
So it just shows you, like how close you know
you you are to getting uh you know, or showing
them how close they are to getting where they want.
Big coming down here, you know, looking at the roster,
knowing the pieces that was gonna be here. I knew
we had a solid offense and and knew that, you know,
if I got down here. Uh early enough had a
(12:35):
full training camp that I could get down here and
hope the defenses uh for uh as as much as needed.
Speaker 9 (12:40):
Everybody has different reasons for why they go about their
off seasons the way that they do.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
For you, training on your own kind of what went.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Into that decision?
Speaker 3 (12:47):
And is that something you've done every year? Is that
all for you? Yeah, I've been doing this for about
I have a trainer.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
I've been doing this for about the last six seven
years now, and it's just been working.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
You know.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I've been in last year off of the little situation.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
Every year prior to that. I mean, it's just been
working for me. So I have no problem with that.
I'm a vet, been in many defenses now. Play book
is easy to understand for me. It's just about making
sure I'm in shape. That way when I get back
doesn't look like.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
A fell off anymoy Well, what do you like about
working on your own?
Speaker 8 (13:18):
Is there anything in particular that you like about that?
Speaker 11 (13:20):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
More so th this year wasn't even really about working
out on my own.
Speaker 8 (13:24):
This year was more so, like I said, you know,
butting up on things, tryna transition, get down here, find
a place to live all that type of stuff. So
it wasn't really about me wanting to work on my own.
I came down here to introduce myself to the guys,
get around the young guys.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
Uh m.
Speaker 8 (13:40):
When I came earlier in the OTAs and when I
got back, it was just about, like I said, trying
to get everything buttoned up. I don't want no distraction
right when I come down here, I wanna be able
to play good football, right. I don't want nobody worried about,
oh he got this going on. I wanna come down here.
I wanna focus on football. I wanna focus on the
Temple Bay back in theirs. You feel what I'm saying.
I wanna play great football in front of the crow,
That's all I wanna do.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
You say, anybody part of print some pretty good post
rush kandems. Yeah, what specifically about the AIDAB.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
I think of the things that you guys can become
one of those next.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
New those in the league.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
Right, he's he's getting into that, you know, I think
it's his third year now, he's transitioning into that uh uh,
that stage where you can see he's becoming a vet.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Right.
Speaker 8 (14:16):
You can see he's starting to understand the game, you know.
Like to be honest, he's been helping me out on
a little bit of things. As far as little he's
got this on this play, We got that on on
at least, you know, as far as the north stalls. Uh,
but you can see that he's try. At as young
as he is, he's transitioning and being a vet. He's
one of those guys that I was talking about getting
a work out in, uh what with a couple other
(14:37):
young guys yesterday. So Uh, he's doing everything the right way.
As long as he continue to do that, he'll continue
to progress and go in the direction that he wants
to do.
Speaker 10 (14:44):
Both said that you already could tell in two days
and the interaction you've had and the impact with the
younger guys. You're a vote and splay a lot of
football where his hand placement. You enjoy that aspect of
the Yeah, th that's I do man. I wanna see
everybody went, right. I I wanna see everybody do great.
I've been able to be in this league for for
a long time. I've been able to have great success
here and I just want that for the young guys
(15:04):
as well. Right, I want everybody to get a chance
to get their shine. Everybody get a chance to you know,
become that guy, become him for their team. So you
know he that that's him right now? Uh uh you
know that, and that could be some other young guys
uh as well. So I'm doing everything that I can
if I see anything being for me, just doing the
best we can to try to teach these.
Speaker 8 (15:22):
Guys and like I said, continue to try to propel
their career for it in the direction they wanted to.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I'm motivated all you hassan to regain your reputation as
like gain my reputation as a premier fer game. I've
w rep man, I'm.
Speaker 8 (15:35):
Not I I let's say I am motivated, but not
for that type of stuff, right, Like, I don't care
what people think about me, to be honest, and you know,
people can say whatever they want is your opinion, and
you're entitled to it. The only thing that I'm worried
about is me, right, I'm not not worried.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Not the only thing.
Speaker 8 (15:52):
But when you talk about things like that, as long
as I'm in a great place to say space and
my my my mentor strong, That's the only thing that
I'm worried about.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
I feel like this scheme that I say, you're dropping
a couple of cos that's something you like it. Yeah,
I like this scheme. You know.
Speaker 8 (16:07):
It was something that we talked about before I came
down here, so I knew it was expected. But not
only that, you know, I've been in uh the shortest
scheme before when I was in Arizona. Some of the
coaches was actually out there as well, So we had Foot,
we had Rock, you know, we had a couple of
guys that was here out there with us.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Sorry, has it been working with Larry Foot again and
him helping you get this group?
Speaker 8 (16:27):
I feel like, you know, like I said, it's been
with four years now since the last time I've seen
him Foot, they don't even feel like we dropped.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (16:35):
Honestly, he's the same, great guy. He's always been just
just just foot man. Anybody you know Foot, you know
he's one of a kind, right, got great great character,
great charisma, and always somebody that when.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
You see gonna put a smile on.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
He says, he gets he gets permission to be even
harder on you because you guys so far you guys
go so far back.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Yes, indeed, yes, indeed.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
That's had that permission, but you know it ain't like that,
like you know, he hate hate's and he messing around,
but he, like I said, he's always been a great
mentor whether there's been things on the field or off
the field. Uh even you know, I don't know if anybody,
but even on fake the you know, like getting what
foot the in Arizona, that was something that helped me
out a lot as well being out there and he
(17:18):
was always somebody that was a safe place that you
could come and talk to. And like I said earlier
when I came out er earlier in No Tars when
I first came down, that was one of the reasons
that y I I wanted to come here because I
knew he was here, and I knew what he did
for me on the next and the family at the
end of the day.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
And a war a warrior, you know, uh uh uh,
a hard fought god.
Speaker 8 (17:41):
I respect bigger a lot because he's another person in
this league that has had ups and downs and and
continues to strive to be the gri as great as
he wants to be or uh cr continues to strive
for greatness.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
So I have tremendous respect for him. I love his game.
Speaker 8 (17:54):
I think when he has a war a lawyer's mentality,
and I think he's one of the few means in
this league that's one of the more official And.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Just as they would have it, the Cardinals, the Jets,
the Eagles, the Panthers are all in the Bucks schedule.
That you what are your thoughts on that you're playing
every team you've played for?
Speaker 8 (18:15):
Yeah, hey, I I w I would be lying if
I said that Wasn't you know that that didn't have
a uh uh a part of my decision making. But
at the end of the day, I'm just happy to
be down here, back in the in a in a
great space to play good football. And you know, like
I see, like you said, I've been in other team,
had great times, had bad times. Not really worried about that, uh,
(18:35):
just worried about coming down here. Those things is behind
me being the best.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
For the Bucks and having a play being been productive
seven years. But at this state in your career or
are you working on.
Speaker 11 (18:46):
The offense and to try and better your game or
maybe when do you continue to work on every uh?
Speaker 8 (18:49):
At this point, just my health, you know what I'm saying,
Just making sure my body is in good condition, making
sure my.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Body feels good.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (18:56):
You know as you you know you you these years
stack on, Yuh, you gonna recover all the way the
same as you used to. So for me, it's just
about making sure, uh, the the the the thing that
allows me to get out here and do what I do.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Keep it in good shit, that's something you don't have
pads on.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Yeah, but you went against get a key last two
days and you'll face worse and training camp out like
you're looking forward.
Speaker 8 (19:17):
To that extremely you know, this is where iron sharpens
iron camp, right, so you know we're on the same team.
It's just won't be friendly competition, but it's won't be
competition at the day. I look forward to them making
me better the same way I look forward to making
them better. To to both to Uh there's great tackles,
you know, I know, get to keep maybe on a
a little bit of the younger side, but still he
has tremendous talent, even playing against him in the prior years.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
So I'm really really extremely looking forward just even being
back out on the field. Man, it's just been it's
been a great two c uh, a great two days.
Extremely excited and I can't wait, but can't get here
so we can get to the season.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
The louvesdraft the guy with a summer of profiles you
and David Locker obviously has been out the last two days.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
But did you go back looking at his tape?
Speaker 6 (19:59):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (19:59):
What have you heard of?
Speaker 8 (20:01):
This was my first time getting around him. I know
he's going through whatever he's going through healthwise right now.
W with that, we have had conversations. Uh, I've just
been mainly, but like you said, it's certain guys that's
practicing right now. I've been kind of like brass well,
those guys are asking me, Hey, I'm about to go in,
can you watch me and let me know if you
see anything. So I just been focusing on that part
(20:22):
of it because you know, like I said, they're actually
out here practicing, and I'm just trying to help them.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
You're probably slashing that trip with the a sch a
strong personality in this reputation.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Here you're helping these guys. M. This is a team.
It's very selfless and how do you balance self in
team and shit like that?
Speaker 8 (20:41):
Sometimes people get it, so people get getting misconfused. Man,
Sometimes your own goals can align with team goals right right,
So that I think that's their I think that's the
thing that's most important, making sure that your own goals
align with the same goals with the team, And as
long as that happen, I think everything should be good.
So you know, I don't really have any individual goals
(21:02):
other than the you know people, Oh, I'm me, sass.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
You didn't even wanna get to share.
Speaker 6 (21:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
I just know that I come in here trying to
play great football and dominate the man that they put
in front of me.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Don't you have a number of mine? Though, in terms
of the sacks, you gotta have a number.
Speaker 8 (21:14):
Nah, I don't n any year, especially the years I
had success, I've never had a number. I just go
out there and play ball, you feel me every day.
I just take each day, day by day. I take
each game week by week.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Uh. I try to dominate that game.
Speaker 8 (21:27):
And after the season, you know, you play well enough,
you do things r uh uh right, no, long enough,
you'll be exactly where you wanna be. I would say,
I will say this, maybe double digits that I don't
care if it's ten. Maybe double digits and my goal maybe.
But other than that, I don't got no outragt. You know,
I just wanna play good football.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
You've been part of some lot of organizations.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
Just where do you think the culture here stacks up
compared to other places you've been.
Speaker 8 (21:52):
Uh, I've been. Eh, It's it's like it's different in
a lot of places. I do think the culture here it.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Is good. I do think, you know, we'd be bad.
I think, matter of fact, probably started really changing. I
probably started.
Speaker 8 (22:06):
Seeing Bucks' culture really changed after they won a Super
Bowl that year with Tom when time came down here,
I think that's when things started really you know, Bucks
started really giving the same that I even.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Started paying attention, like, oh Bucks is all right.
Speaker 8 (22:19):
So now that I got the chance to be down here, man,
I'm just looking to add add to the culture, add
to the team.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
You know, add to the family, add to the area here.
Everybody have a great day.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Yeah I took the hair extensions out. Yeah yeah, absolutely, yeah,
I watched out great.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Actually, how is the beginning of manageering that the camp
in for you?
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Spent great? I mean to get back out here.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
With completely all the guys and stuff.
Speaker 11 (22:48):
Spent a lot of fun just kind of piecing the
offense together and kind of growing on last year and
everything like that. I mean it's spent great time. Yeah,
as you guys can tell, it's it's hot, but that's Florida.
But uh yeah, really him a.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Lot, a good time and everything.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
First impressions of the guy that just walked past you,
what's that?
Speaker 3 (23:04):
First impressions of the guy that just walked past you?
Speaker 11 (23:07):
I mean he's he's a good pass rusher. I mean
he's quick, he presents power as well. I mean he
has good hand usage. He's he's definitely he's he's a
great pass rusher. I mean he's shown that in the NFL.
I mean he's approved himself already, and we're grateful to
have him here.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Have some battles and training camp.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Yeah yeah absolutely, I mean we already have battles in minim.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
How is that making you better?
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Because he just talked about it iron sharp and he's
iron Yeah, he's get to go up against.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
Each other every day.
Speaker 11 (23:32):
No, yeah, absolutely, I mean yeah, the peeback off he says, yeah,
you couldn't have said it, couldn't have said it better.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I mean yeah, that only helps uh us out as tackles.
I mean being able to go up again.
Speaker 11 (23:40):
It's a great competition like that just only makes us better.
And even I mean, you're gonna not gonna win every rep,
but it helps when you when.
Speaker 9 (23:50):
You lose a rep out here and you can analyze
what you did wrong versus losing in a game and
it's broadcast everywhere and potentially lead to uh winner was
a game.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
So it's great to have in practice have a whole
starting line back from last year. He was showing you
something that the new guys coming in year.
Speaker 11 (24:09):
I would say one rookie who's kind of stuck out
is a choke. He's kind of he's athletic and everything.
He's kinda he has some stuff to pick up. He's
kind of a little he's a little raw, but I
mean he's he's a rookie coming in here and everything.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
But yeah, he's I mean he's locked down some two three.
Speaker 11 (24:27):
Year players here and everything like that tackle, so he's
kind of popped a little bit. Just he's quick and everything.
He's powerfully strong. And then uh, Jake majors.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
As well Charlie Heck, I mean both solid players as well.
Speaker 11 (24:41):
I mean Charlie, he moves very fluent, it's very fundamentally
sound as well.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Luke, how much better can you guys get as you
get the same coach in the same system and had
so much success in a run game last year, how
much better can he get.
Speaker 11 (24:54):
With the new Yeah, I mean I feel like the
sky's the limit for our O line and are offen
as a whole. I mean, I'd like to see our
offense just as best a line and best offense in.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
National Football League. I feel like that's the goal among
every team.
Speaker 11 (25:09):
But I would say we're definitely a team who's uh,
definitely that's achievable.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
I mean, everyone strives for that and that's great and everything.
Speaker 11 (25:17):
But I think the Bucks here as we stand to that,
I think they're they're in a good spot to achieve
that this year.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
That you already have some battles here in mini camp
and trains come on eventually.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
As a lineman, more contact is so important to your game.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
What are you kind of working on in these intermedia hears?
Speaker 3 (25:33):
In the open?
Speaker 11 (25:34):
You're not able to have pads, Yeah, it's I mean
it's it's tough, like right now we're just basically in
underwear trying to block someone. I mean, I would say
definitely defense is at a huge advantage right now because
when we get the pads on a linemen have much
more to grab and everything like that. So and our
jerseys are so loose, they can just push pull the
(25:55):
daylights out of us. But uh, really working on like
just eyes and hands and everything. I mean, just trying
to work on fundamentals and build our craft. And I
mean me specifically, just really working on my hand usage
and uh just landing my punches better and being consistent
kicking through the punch and everything in which does a
great opportunity to do that.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
Luked like the loudness of the guy's chirp and and everything.
Anthony Walker has been very vocal, ask you guys so far,
that's something that.
Speaker 11 (26:23):
Feed off of a little bit, like yeah, I mean, yeah,
definitely feed off. I mean when uh, I mean it,
he'll come right around, so.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
He'll see real quick. I mean, like I said, we're
in we're justs in underwear right now.
Speaker 11 (26:37):
I mean we'll only continue to ramp up. I mean
we're not even doing many run plays right now. So yeah,
it'll get it'll be interesting.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
A contractor this year, when he looked at when he
looked back to when he first came to the league
where you are now answering his top offensive tackle in
the league. What are some of your your memories from
when you first started, and then what's the communication like
as far as you know, getting a new contract.
Speaker 11 (27:05):
Yeah, I mean Jason and my agent in front office,
they're they're all taking care of that. I like, I'm
I'm just focused on football at this point and try
and get better and help the team win and come
out here and win. But back to the first part
of your question. Yeah, my rookie year, I mean, I
it was abbs and flows, ups and downs. I Mean,
one thing that I would really learned from that year
is you can't let the highs get too high and
(27:25):
the lowers get too low.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
And I'd say that's that can be applicable to anything
in life. I mean, no matter what you do for
a living or how you go about your life. I mean,
just gotta stay level headed, especially where.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Where I mean, execution is key at this level.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Winning guys are in and out of the league day
in and day out.
Speaker 11 (27:45):
So that's that's kind of one of my big takeaways
and everything, and it's more mental atman the physical look up.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Mostly you know, like Monders because it's just not intensive.
Speaker 11 (27:55):
Yeah yeah, yeah, usually walk through is usually I'm like
going full speed, another goes or like just walking.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
I'm like I because I like to practice that full
game speed like all the time.
Speaker 11 (28:09):
Like I know how to a rep should feel, and
it doesn't feel around I'm like, well that was that
was kind of a way.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
So that's just kind of how I've always been.
Speaker 11 (28:19):
Like if I take a rep wout, even on the
practice field, if I have someone's giving me a look
or whatever, and I can feel if it feels authentic,
I'm like, yeah, that that feel felt nothing.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Like a d end would do to me.
Speaker 11 (28:31):
So yeah, which, but yeah, you be working anything with
your body felt like any changes or everyone working on anything,
I mean just kind of getting bigger, stronger, faster, I
mean more athletic.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
I mean trying to always build on twitchiness and everything
like that.
Speaker 11 (28:49):
But as far as like muscle wise and everything, lean
body mass and everything, I feel like I'm right where
I want to be. I mean, move fluent and stuff
right now, feel athletic, feel powerful and everything. But with
that being said, there's always there's always different body goals.
I mean, I would love to be three to twenty
with ten percent body fat. But I don't think that's
achievable unless you go on something.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
So they like blocking for somebody like Bucky Irving Luke,
a guy who can break the thirty forty yarder at
any time.
Speaker 11 (29:19):
Yeah, blocking for Bucky, I mean and Rashaw all the
running backs for that matter.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
I mean, it's it's phenomenal.
Speaker 11 (29:24):
I mean, just knowing that upfront, I mean, we trust
the heck of those guys back there, try and do
our job upfront, and they make us look good in
at the end of the day and everything.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
And uh, I mean they just they hit the whole herd.
Speaker 11 (29:37):
They run hard, they have good, great vision for the
field and everything, and it's it's really exciting to watch
them breakoff runs and everything.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
How rough was it tough finish in the last two
years in a row in rushing and then making the
break to it last year?
Speaker 11 (29:48):
Yeah, I mean that's obviously not I mean that falls
a lot on the old line. So yeah, it's very
it's very disappointing. I mean, outside of like what we
can control, I mean, we we were working our tails off.
It just wasn't going our way, I guess. I mean
we were trying to execute. But yeah, I mean, obviously
the numbers showed we finished. We finished last two years
in a row. I mean, I I think there's other
(30:10):
factors as well, but uh, I mean yeah, at the
end of the day, it falls into a lot.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
You were able to come back so successfully from the
concussion last year, you believe with the Guardian cap. Is
it something that you're going to continue to do into
this year.
Speaker 11 (30:23):
Yeah? Yeah, I mean, I mean I noticed no difference,
Like it's not like it's a weight difference or anything like,
there's literally no difference in me wearing it.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
And if it helps, uh.
Speaker 11 (30:35):
Even a tiny percentage, I mean, mizzleware, I mean, we
only only had one brain.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
It's sound like a knee or something you replaced.
Speaker 10 (30:43):
You just training here in the weight rooms.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
And Todd have said that they're expecting a lot of
things from you in he or two to make that jump.
When you're talking to some of the guys on the
team and they can tell that those little details, those
little things were starting to clear, cause you what, what's
been that process of of things just kind of coming
together in your tail?
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Yeah, you know, it was uh, it was great to
you know learn uh assess the film last year, and you.
Speaker 12 (31:09):
Know, I wanted to figure out what could I do
to get better? And uh, you know I felt like, uh,
this off season my focus was like working more on
my hands and uh mixing up my past especially instead
of going like power all the time. So uh, I
think the biggest thing for me was honestly, like I
just said, like, you know, just working on my hands.
And you know I had yeah yeah helped me in
that uh coach foot and everything.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
So he was just working on your body any this
off season, adding on any side of anything.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Yeah, Uh, I'm just trying to uh just cut down
like a little bit on weight. Uh.
Speaker 12 (31:36):
Last year, I was like, uh two sixty between like
two sixty uh two fifty nine.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
I wanna try to play at two fifty five this year.
Speaker 5 (31:41):
Your thoughts of soon Reddick.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
He said that he came at the very beginning OTAs
and then he went and trained on his own.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
But he's he's back here with you guys. Seems to
be very.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Involved with with helping some of the EMIL players out.
Just kind of your thoughts. Oh yeah, uh I saw him.
You know, he's great. Uh.
Speaker 12 (31:56):
Actually we just had a conversation yesterday in the filming room.
You know, he was just saying, like on a on
your rush, you know, you wanna act like you were
in a phone booth, you know, fighting you know you
don't you don't wanna separate too much from the God,
want to remain close. So that was one of the
biggest tips that he gave everybody in the room incident.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
How much can that help you guys, this group of a.
Speaker 12 (32:10):
Young guy, Yeah, I can help a lot, you know,
learning from a guy that had I think he had
like over sixty plus sacks in his career, I think
seventy plus or whatever. But you know, just hearing a
guy like that, you know, be able to tell you
those little details. Can you know, take your long win.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
You're obviously around livery foot last year, but he was
coaching a different position. Now he's your position coach. What
what have you noticed about his coaching style and and
what do you like about him?
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (32:30):
You know, uh coach coach foot Man is a great
foot Uh, great coach.
Speaker 9 (32:34):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (32:35):
But you know he brings uh humor. Uh, he's a
he's a he's a tough guy. He's going to mamand
everything out of you. And I just like his swaggering
you know in the field, like he's very like savvy,
very swaggerish. Uh, always making small funny comments to you know,
keep you going.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
You know, I think be going. Uh definitely shine in
that area on a UH field this year.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
You can talk about the overall talent and competition at
the r in that room, adding a son Reddy get veteran,
drafting a David Walker Pas you know yourself now and
you're two to Arequise Watts, So is it yours?
Speaker 12 (33:02):
You know, Uh, we guys that still have a lot
of Yeah, you know, it's definitely definitely a lot of
competition in that room. You know, like you said, all
of those guys that you need. Everybody is fighting. You
know only you know to ours all line Mets can
player on the field. But at the end of the day,
we all brothers and be gonna compete and we.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
All tryna have one goal. We're trying to get dirty
plus sacks this season as a UH run. So you know,
we're just gonna continue to compete and vote each other in.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
Counterbat Christmas Earl's after faint role or anything like that.
When you look at our way and set up, you know,
Yaya and Hassan and then and then you have a
similar bodies type too for ya Ya while David has
a similar body type to Walker. Having that that rotation
of you guys both being able to come in there,
how do you think that's gonna keep you guys fresh
all season long? How do you think that's gonna keep
(33:42):
you hungry and motivated?
Speaker 12 (33:43):
Also, Yeah, you know it's gonna you know, any type
of rotation, you know, it's gonna keep you fresh.
Speaker 11 (33:47):
You know.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (33:48):
One of the thing that the office of line hate is,
you know, having other guys that can come in and
keep that same pace. You know, officer line, they don't rotate,
you know, d line we do. So you know you
have guys at their at at a high level that
can go in there and get a job. I've done
because it had for the whole line.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Your last half dousand or so games? Or was it
definitely movement?
Speaker 10 (34:06):
What was it for you that you be able to
do to get more hits on the quarterback and sacks
or people?
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (34:11):
I would say, uh, stop overthinking a little bit. I
just went out there. I just played you know, my game,
and you know, just then what got got me here?
Ultimately has it slowed down of it? I'm sorry? Has
everything slowed down for you now coming into the Yeah yeah, definitely,
uh definitely uh slowed down.
Speaker 9 (34:25):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
I've been in the playbook a lot.
Speaker 12 (34:27):
Uh, so you know, knowing the players and everything like
that is definitely slowed down. You know, going to this
uh elutricity and you know the hour old line, we
have a great old line. Definitely helped me, uh figure
out the game and you know, slow the game completely down.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
Are you knowing like what everyone else is the job
responsibilities in your general area?
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Artisan?
Speaker 8 (34:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (34:43):
Yeah that helps you play? Yeah you know y yah
yeah la just you know, learning learning, you know what
everybody doing on the D line and learning the games,
knowing the levers that they gonna have. So I can
you know, see if I could turn it into a
natural you know, come up on a natural game or
whatever it gives may be.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
What's what overthinking things for you to turn that?
Speaker 5 (35:00):
Cause that's very calm in a moment.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
You know really smart.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
People really like a lot of really good athletes.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
Is that just learning to trust yourself or yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Is it just you know having confidence with them to skip?
Speaker 12 (35:12):
Like what what is that specifically for you. Oh, it
was just uh, like you said, trusting myself and you know,
not trying to be perfect. I felt like last year
I was just trying to be you know too much,
Uh try to be perfect, and you know you can't
be perfect all the time.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
So uh, just trying to just relax and just go
out there and play with play my game. You know
that definitely uh helped me, uh to menicinse.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
How do you feel like you just focused You're gonna
put the wall instead of the draft? And the calm
line and the pro day has helped you coming into
this a this season of these workouts, this training camp.
Speaker 12 (35:41):
Yeah, I mean it's great, you know, to be able
to take a little you know, break from football, get
off my feet, Uh, relax a little bit, you know,
get back to the training. You know, have a whole
full off season instead of you know, going from the
the end of the playoffs to college to the All
Star games and training for the draft, and you got
all this anxiety and stuff like that. So it definitely
good to have that aside and not have to worry
(36:02):
about that.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
And he took a nice vacation this year. You went
over to the movies, and where was that? Yeah, that
was great. You know, I went to Saudi performed Woomer
and when I went to Morocco, I have a trainer
out there, so you know, I trained out out there
with him for a month. Okay, thank you, appreciate that
