Speaker 1 (00:02):
If noon, how can you can you see be an
Anthony Walker in terms of his on field presence that
you've got a chance to look at him in a
couple of practices.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Very intelligent, uh from a communication standpoint, which we thought
it was when we got him. Uh really fit right
in once he came here, feel like he's been here
the whole time. He got a good grasp of the
scheme and understanding of what to do. And Uh, him
and boss are really hitting it off.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
These are voluntary workouts, but you had a good number
of veterans here today.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
What did he say about the guys that came out?
And there were some guys that we didn't see as.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Well, So there's a lot. So you know, some guys
are nicked up when we understand that, so probably is
about seven of 'em missing. Probably five of 'em are
probably nicked up a little bit, but we understand where
they are in their training and we keep in contact
and everything else. So they turned out we had to
day was great and they give the guys a chance
to get more reps and get the system down.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Would you expect to see Hassan Reddick and during the.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Otastough, I'm sure one of these days will see him.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
What do you want the.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
Players who get out of these workouts and what do
you want your coaches to get.
Speaker 7 (01:06):
Out of them.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
From a coaching standpoint, we're trying to make sure they're
fundamentally sound, that where they're supposed to be, they're communicating
and their right from a technique standpoint, From a player
wise standpoint, understanding the scheme and being able to do
your job and have all the answers to the best
of your ability, the best of your knowledge and get
out of that. So when everybody gets to camp, you
know there's clean competition.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
But when you're saying nicked up, is that lingering injuries
from the end of the season last year or is
it just like some dings from training out here?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Mm? Some are, some aren't. It's a little both go.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
She had positive news on Chris Godlin, just a general recovery.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
He not really he's working hard. You know, he's coming around.
We'll see more when we get to training camp. We're
hopeful of week one and you know, nothing's really changed,
but if anybody can come back and play, it's gonna
be Chris.
Speaker 8 (01:57):
It was like defense won the day today.
Speaker 9 (01:59):
Ourus so you know, it is what it is.
Speaker 8 (02:01):
But were you guys doing live collar periods for.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
The end there, No, we didn't. We had everything scripted
the first week. We haven't gotten into that yet. We
still have some fundamentals and something that we need to
work out before we get to that.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Not that's but uh, Travasier shows up, you know, getting
his hands on footballs and interceptions.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Is that just kind of what he's done since he's
been here.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
He's been like that the last couple of years. Just
got to keep him healthy. We feel like he's a
lot healthier going into this season than he has has
ever been, so, you know, knock on wood if he's healthy.
You know, we think we got a heck of a player.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Talked about having kind of a eureka moment down there
at the NFL annual meeting. Was that maybe getting the
secondary together. Is that that's something that's a bit new.
You're having your safeties and cornerbacks in the same room
and watching film together and all that.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
No, that's not a eureka moment. That's been They've been
in the same room quite a few times. The eureka
moment is figuring out what you wanna domatically for the
next year, and trying to put all the pieces in
place with the coaches and understand what we wanna do
going forward. That was kind of the Eureka moment. It
wasn't anything flashy to uh, say we're doing this or
(03:13):
we're doing that, but kind of how we wanna attack
the season differently and what we wanted our guys to
look like when they play.
Speaker 10 (03:19):
Speaking the secondary, if they got their hands on a
couple of balls today, z I McCollum, Jamaldine, how would
you wanna see the more pass break ups, more interceptions?
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Just continue to hone that crap.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
I like to see more interceptions. We've been breaking up
the passes, so we gotta come down with 'em. But
you know it's Day one and shorts and T shirt.
I'm not gonna give the offensive credits, so I'm not
gonna give the defensive credit.
Speaker 7 (03:39):
How would you say, Josh Brizzard is coming along? I
know you said everything was scripted today and during these
off season workouts, the OTA's are you gonna do anything
just live?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
You mean live from a call it period. That would
probably be next week. It won't be anything this week.
It'll probably be next week. We have some fundamental and
technical things to get out the way before we start
getting into those type of things. But he's come along fine.
He's very calm. Uh. The coaches have been together for
a little bit, so that helps too. So he he's
doing great.
Speaker 10 (04:10):
Will you pleased with everybody at their conditioning tone?
Speaker 11 (04:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:13):
So far. I'll go back and look at the tape
and see.
Speaker 12 (04:16):
How I think you had six offensive linemen that were
going to have for one reason or another, or are
there any of those that are concerns that they wouldn't
be ready physically through the start training camp?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Not at this time though.
Speaker 13 (04:27):
Milton really came on second half of last year obviously,
But now that the wide receiver room is even more crowded,
what can he do?
Speaker 14 (04:33):
What can he work on the continue to show his work.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Just keep mastering the offense and obviously it's always a
route thing, getting all the routes down. That's for all
the receivers right there. But he has a good grasp
of the knowledge of the offense and that'll help him
play faster.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Coach Bucket emerged as the starter running back at the
end of the season, and its production is what it is.
You needed all three of 'em, right, and we shot
has a big role. He tweeted out or or instagram
said this one was last ride. Do you know what
that means?
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Are you?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Are you concerned whether or not he'll accept the role
as a non starter or.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I don't know what that means for I don't have Twitter,
first of all. But the last ride for me is
kind of like the Magnificent Seven, and you know, going
into those type of deals. But I don't know what
different things mean. I think Russia's been here, He's been great.
He plays hard, he practices hard. We're gonna need all
three of them. And I'm not really in the tweets.
Speaker 10 (05:26):
So you go, the rookies in the building for a
couple of weeks. Now, what what's stood out to you
about them? Who's kind of stood out compared to other
drought plots about us?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I don't know if anybody stood out, cause they're all
learning right now. You know, they're learning their conditioning. They're
getting it, uh mixed in with the vets from a
sprinting and lifting standpoint. They're in the same room, so
they get to see how things go from a smooth standpoint.
The biggest thing for the rookies right now. We're trying
to get 'em all up to speed on the same
page so when they get to training camp, they're on
(05:56):
the same ground and they can compete.
Speaker 15 (06:00):
Tyke smith position right now is he sort of all
in in.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Safety for now? He's a safety, but he's always a nickel.
So depending on the game, he gives us a variety
to do different things. And you know, we'll see as
it goes. But he's playing safety right now, but he's
taking reps at nickel as well.
Speaker 14 (06:19):
So I who will be competing for that nickel job?
What were the players there? That?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
That's you all of them? You got ty Kee, you
got Parrish, you got jj you got his ion. Depending
on how the team shakes out and what kind of
mix we have, they're all they're different type of players.
You got easy, We got a bunch of nickels right now.
You know we need safeties and corners. We got about
four or five guys that can fill that nickel roll.
Speaker 8 (06:46):
Is that a position where you look at and you know,
use this time to go to look at the guys
and and if you feel like you need a veteran,
that's a position that you would you could address there.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
It's something you look at. You know, it's got to
be the right fit and everything. But we like the
group we have right now and and we gonna go
with those guys.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Tell uh Levantine had to sit down with uh Gruden
Unbarstoo Sports. He confessed that when you and Bruce came in,
he was fed up with the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
He was gonna leave. He was tired of losing, tired
of coaching changes.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
He credited Bruce with tugging him up the ledge and
say hey, we're gonna win and want you to stick around.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Were you part of that sales pitch at all?
Speaker 2 (07:22):
I remember us having a conversation cause he hadn't played
in the three four before and so he was very
skeptical of playing the mode linebacker position. And I told
him it was pretty much just like the four to three.
It was just a difference of it. And with Bruce
talking to him, then he having to sit down with
me as well, and we talked scheme wise. He came
in and brought in and he kind of took off
(07:42):
from there. So you know, it's a credit to him
being able to play in various schemes, the different types
of schemes and change his game, whether he's a dropper
and the cover two scheme, whether he's a blitzer in
our scheme, or whether he's a covered guy. Uh, that's
the credit to him being a good football player.
Speaker 10 (07:59):
He also said that whole you off. Sometimes when he's
got the green dots, I'll just be like.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
He waves me off. I give him the finger. I
kind of work well together and stuff. But that's never happened.
I was joking. In case anybody wants to put that
in there, it's just it was a joke. Okay, it
was a joke.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Competition at quarterback. Can you feel that in the building on.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Well, you can feel it. After draft day, you know,
he come back in here. You draft two players at
your position, you better be on your job. So I
was expecting to be heavy competition in camp.
Speaker 14 (08:38):
On Rice was gut into.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Into the Bucks Ring of honor will be in the
Cardinals game. What do you remember about him as as
a a buccaneer and as an Arizona Cardinal when you
were in the league, you know, coaching watching.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I remember more as a buccaneer as a hell of
a pass rusher. I mean they had guys that can
really get after it back then, and he was a
big part of it. He had some hell of five
stats for years to comb and you know, he's exactly
what you want. He's tall, he's long, he's lengthy, he
could run and he could turn the corner.
Speaker 16 (09:08):
Thanks, it's going.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
As a veteran coming in here now. Sorry I said,
kind of a veteran coming in here now. A little
different situation than say a year ago. But what does
this work? It's voluntary. What does it mean?
Speaker 17 (09:27):
Yeah, specifically definitely, wouldn't say veteran, but definitely. You know,
I told some last night. I went and like watched
OTA one practice the last year, just buzz through a
few clips and just to see, like, how, you know,
much improvement there's.
Speaker 11 (09:41):
Been for me?
Speaker 17 (09:43):
Was you know, it was a good feeling just coming
out here, much more comfortable in this system. You know, uh,
got a few more tricks of the trade. Just but
you know, like you said this, you know it's optional,
but this time is so important, you know, learning and
getting settled in. So when July hits, you know you're
ready to roll. And there's so much you can learn.
There's so much football to learn and OTAs is, uh,
(10:06):
you know, a great time to to you know, think
outside the box a little, try different things, you know,
maybe tweak things from the prior season and you know,
see what you like which you don't like, whether it's
stance or et cetera. So just trying to take this
time to you know, just just get better, fine tune
some things and continue to learn.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
How comforting is.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
It to have both Cody and Ben back, yeah.
Speaker 14 (10:29):
And on on that side in terms of continuity with.
Speaker 17 (10:32):
You Yeah, no, it's great just having you know, five guys,
you know, throw Tristan Luke in there too, Just having
five guys who are back together.
Speaker 11 (10:41):
You know, the chemistry is already there.
Speaker 17 (10:43):
The you know, understanding of strength and weaknesses is there,
understanding how we communicate, like, that's all already there. So
now it's really just hey, here's where we can build. So,
you know, OTAs for for a lot of teams right now,
are how is are Alyn in a gel? How is
you know, who fits in where?
Speaker 11 (11:00):
What should we do? How are we going to communicate
this and that?
Speaker 17 (11:03):
And it's like we've got a lot of that stuff down,
you know, and so now it's just improving, you know,
chemistry wise and improving football and and you can you
can focus on different things since we've got that like
groundwork down.
Speaker 11 (11:15):
But it's awesome.
Speaker 17 (11:16):
Obviously we love those guys and and you know we
all have great time, so happy to happy to be
around him.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
Is the offense pretty much the same as last year,
even though Brizard is new, but he's in the building
and he knows you guys.
Speaker 17 (11:30):
Yeah, I'd say the uh, you know, put it this way,
the ground rules are the same, the same, you know,
fundamentals and what the offense is sort of built on
with you know, you know, pre snap motion and you
know how we attack defenses. I'd say it's similar. But
you know, every year there's, uh, there's change, and I
think we've got we We've obviously tweaked certain things and
(11:53):
we're gonna continue to tweak things.
Speaker 11 (11:54):
And you know, I think you'll see uh, you know.
Speaker 17 (11:57):
Grizz's style and how it differs from from Liam style,
but you know the understanding of the system is relatively
the same.
Speaker 6 (12:05):
Talking about your relationship with Baker and how it developed
and evolved from him.
Speaker 17 (12:08):
In yeah, you know, coming in last year being a
wide eyed rookie, Baker was just always great and stilling
confidence in me and helping me out there.
Speaker 11 (12:19):
You know, it's really awesome when.
Speaker 17 (12:21):
When the guy right behind you you know, uh, you
just feel a lot of trust and love from and
I definitely felt that from him from day one. And
so just having that and watching that, you know, relationship
grow throughout the year. Now just you know, taking the
next step in that relationship and making sure we're on
the same page with what we're seeing on the field,
you know, front structures, how you know on certain plays
(12:42):
he's going to react, if he's going to change anything,
if he wants me to change anything, and and just
what kind of you know, making sure we're looking through
the same set of eyes. And so I think that's
the next step and something to work on this offseason.
Speaker 18 (12:54):
I believe you're part of the group of players that
met with a Mecca and his family and how to
kneel together when you for Scott here. What have been
your early impressions of him because you were in his
shoes last year.
Speaker 17 (13:05):
Yeah, well I didn't get a meal last year, So no,
A Mecca is a great guy. He's really awesome. You
can like you can just tell, you know, he's got
the intangibles, you know from the men and I met him.
Just great guy, you know, hard worker. You can tell
he's just all about ball. Great teammate. You know, he's
(13:26):
already you know, started to come in and jail and
and I just think that was you know, Baker took
some leadership there and you know, wanted to take him
out to lunch, and you know, whoever was around, you know,
whoever went, you know, went to go meet him and
and you know, free breakfast. So no, I'm kid, but
it was good to meet him. He's a great dude.
He's definitely got all the intangibles. And excited to see him,
you know, prosper on the field.
Speaker 18 (13:47):
Send her bill to then you're going to send it
to Bay considering you didn't you didn't get it last year.
Speaker 17 (13:52):
I guess I'll send an invoice. See how you respond
to that, you know, being.
Speaker 6 (13:57):
A wide eyed rugby last year, and when you're going
to the Fells a rookie, you have a lot of
interviews and season workouts. That's a very you know, hectic process.
And how confident are you now that you get to
just have an off season to prepare for your second
NFL season and what advice would you give to rookies
that are coming in that kind of have gone through
that hectic time and you need.
Speaker 11 (14:14):
To focus on Yeah.
Speaker 17 (14:15):
Yeah, it's definitely a crazy time, you know, through the
pre draft process and then right onto a team. Having
some downtime was nice. But I think the biggest thing
is you just got it. You can't get uh, still
got to use that time wisely, you know, obviously relaxed,
get away from football, but you know, continue to learn,
continue to improve. Just find little things in the off
season you can do, for you know, an hour or
(14:37):
two hours a week that you know will make you
a better football player. And and so that's kind of
how I approach my off season, just you know, find
little things outside of your regimented off season lifting and stuff.
And and i'd, you know, i'd say to a young guy,
just take it. And I've said to some of you know,
the rookie offensive linemen or whatever, just take it one
day at a time like this is a lot. You know,
they're here till four or five o'clock every day. You
(15:00):
you know, nothing you can do about it, just you know,
continue to learn. You'll make mistakes, correct them, move on,
but just wake up every day, you know, ready to
learn something and improve from the day before.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
When you look back at your rookie season, what was that.
What was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome.
Speaker 14 (15:17):
On game days?
Speaker 17 (15:18):
Yeah, I think you know, this year just I think
I understand I I would say my understanding of football
is a lot better now and it will continue. It
will be a lot better by the season than it
was a year ago. You know, you're just still sort
of learning. I remember Ben Bredeson told me, like OTA's
last year. He's like, it's gonna take about a year
for you to really like grasp this, And I think,
(15:41):
you know, he's right on.
Speaker 11 (15:43):
It just takes some time. You know, you see so much.
Speaker 17 (15:45):
Different fronts and looks that you don't see in college,
and and you know how things affect the play you're
in and stuff like that. So, you know, I think
that's the biggest thing when I think back to game
days last year, is just making sure, you know, I
was prepared. I think I've got a much better routine
now and from the mental aspect of getting ready for games,
and it'll be easier for me to prepare mentally than
(16:08):
it was last year. And yeah, I'm just looking forward to,
you know, continuing to develop that process for me and
how I can prepare better.
Speaker 18 (16:15):
For games, Like for you last year coming in with
Bucky or Ving, a Day three draft pick who wound
up becoming essentially a star on this team, you guys
came to depend on him heavily.
Speaker 14 (16:26):
What was it like seeing.
Speaker 18 (16:27):
Him go from where he was drafted to just yeah,
I think just an incredible season.
Speaker 17 (16:33):
Yeah, No, Bucky's a great player. We love Bucky. He's
so much fun to be around. He's great to have
in the facility, similar to like, you know how like
meeting a mecca, like you get that same I got
that same sort of feeling from Bucky. You know, like
he's about his business. He's gonna be here every day
ready to work, work hard. But you know he's gonna
smile while he's doing It makes everyone, you know, it
(16:53):
makes more fun for everyone around him. But yeah, he's
he's shifty, he's dynamic. You know, you never know when
he's gonna break when lou and so you know that's
nice for us to have, especially up front, you know, and.
Speaker 11 (17:05):
Not everything's gonna always be blocked perfect.
Speaker 17 (17:07):
So when you've got a guy who can make people
miss and and you know, Squirt squored free.
Speaker 11 (17:11):
It's uh, it's pretty nice and you're.
Speaker 18 (17:13):
Doing all the dirty work when all that stuff's happening.
Is there a favorite play that you have from last
season that that he.
Speaker 11 (17:18):
Was part of.
Speaker 17 (17:21):
Yeah, we had a I mean a lot probably you
know one that just off the top of my head
because we watched it today. There was like a we
ran wide zone to the right and you know, we
were all out running too the pylon and and Bucky
like you know, cuts it through Fred Warner and a
couple of blocks and and scores and it was like
a key moment in the game, right in front of
(17:43):
the fans. It was just a cool, cool play that
one came to mind just seeing you know, he, like
I said, he can make people miss, he can stop
on a dime and redirect, and so we're hoping to
have him.
Speaker 11 (17:53):
Around here for a while. Yeah.
Speaker 17 (17:59):
Absolutely, I think think, uh, you know, this league is
a it's a man's league, and you know, stuff's gonna happen,
Mistakes are going to be made. Obviously it's one that
keeps you up at night for a while. But you
know how I you know, obviously you got to move forward.
You got to continue to get better. It's a new season,
you know, put everything in the past behind you. But
you know, I think what you got to tell yourself too,
(18:21):
is like it's team game, man, Like everyone makes mistakes.
Speaker 11 (18:25):
Things happen. You know.
Speaker 17 (18:26):
Obviously I take full ownership of you know, uh uh
snapping the ball early down there at the end of
the game. But you know, it's as a team. I
don't think we, you know, did enough to win that game,
and and I definitely should have. And you know, I
think that's something we talked about. You know, for as
good as we were on offense last year, we you know,
still got beat at home and the wild card round
(18:47):
of the playoffs.
Speaker 11 (18:48):
So it just shows you.
Speaker 17 (18:49):
I think it's another lesson too of what you can
do in the regular season doesn't really matter as soon
as playoffs hit, because you know, it's a new season
from there, and you know, learn that lesson the hard
way in year one. But uh, you know, just like
I said, happy to have some some of that experience
under my belt, continue to improve, you know, and be
in better shape to make a run this year.
Speaker 8 (19:08):
Last year and he you hadb Hainsey, You're to kind
of show you the ropes and lean on. Obviously he left,
but there's a couple of rookies this year at the
same position as Utique Major, as Ben Scott, and even
Elijah has been working too. Now that that's your position,
it's your ownership of that position in the room. What
have you kind of been doing to help these.
Speaker 9 (19:30):
Young guys get that?
Speaker 11 (19:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 17 (19:32):
Yeah, I've said it a hundred times, but I learned
so much from from Robert Hainsey and and just him
having him as an example of uh, you know, leadership
and and you know how he handled the whole situation
of you know, us competing and me being drafted and whatnot,
like it's just you know, world class, uh, And so
being able to learn from him, and like how he
sort of you know, was a mentor to me and
(19:54):
led our room, you know, even from behind. He was
just you know, it really helped me as a person
as football player. And so I've tried to you know,
like I like he did, you know, I try to
help the rookies and and when I see, you know,
an opportunity for something I've learned or picked up on,
that's kind of you know, I you know, won't hesitate
to share that with them, just anything off the field,
(20:16):
anything on the field, just being that helping hand, noticing
how helpful was to me. You know, you want to
you want to do so to others and help them out.
So obviously big part of my career. And uh, you know,
we miss them, but I know he's gonna, you know,
do really well in Jacksonville or the.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Weight room, but the off season training is different for
a nd season where it's more maintenance. Yeah, what was
it like to go through an off season program with
Luke and Tristan?
Speaker 17 (20:40):
And yeah, yeah, we have a lot of fun. We
we have a lot of fun. We work our butts off. Uh,
definitely got a lot stronger. You know, it's just competitive
when you've got guys who who you know, want to
do so well at their jobs and are so hungry
to you know, continue to improve.
Speaker 11 (20:59):
Like it's is constant competition in there.
Speaker 17 (21:01):
Which you know at times you just want to hite
each other in the face, but you know, it really
is good for you. And we have fun and uh,
you know, I'm sure Luke will say something totally different,
but uh no, we have a great time and it
was really fun this offseason, getting to grind with them,
and I feel like we all got a lot better,
So I can excited to continue to do that this summer.
Speaker 18 (21:21):
Or we're not doing anything.
Speaker 11 (21:23):
I think we're all past that point in our lives.
Speaker 17 (21:25):
You know, we're we're all still young, but it's uh,
you know, you got to.
Speaker 11 (21:30):
Preserve your career. So don't get me wrong. We're working hard,
but not a lot of one.
Speaker 17 (21:34):
Rep maxes, you know, still trying to more build strength
instead of ego.
Speaker 11 (21:38):
So, yeah, what are your.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Goals the off season?
Speaker 8 (21:43):
I'm sure a lot of season goals. Maybe that New
Offensive Lineman Award? What are your thoughts on that too?
And what are your off season goals that you want to.
Speaker 11 (21:50):
Come Yeah, I think I've touched on a little bit.
Speaker 17 (21:54):
Is just you know, getting the mental side of football right,
you know, really understanding defense and tendencies and different coordinators
and you know what families they come from. And so
when you get into you get into season, you know
you're like, okay, this is a team. You know they
like to jet up the field as opposed to you know,
more like playing gaps. You know, this is how they
(22:14):
like to roll their safeties.
Speaker 11 (22:15):
But blah, blah.
Speaker 17 (22:16):
Blah and stuff like that. I think is a big
part of it. Obviously, the physical aspect, which I think
is is going well, just you know, lifting and running
and trying to get you know, stronger, get.
Speaker 11 (22:28):
Build a bit of build a bit of a better base.
Speaker 17 (22:32):
And then you know, just from a leadership standpoint, you know,
that's something that I've got to step up and and
you know, do more now that I'm not a rookie
and you know, playing center and stuff. I need guys
to be able to trust me on the field, you know,
so when I've got to you know, when there's chaos,
I can you know, direct and and you know, guys
trust me that I've got the answers. So like you know,
(22:54):
that's the mental part, the leadership part, just you know,
trying to step up in there and and you know,
getting a little more you know, respect as a leader
and grow in that way. I think it's important for
me going into your two Okay, thanks, guys, have a
good one.
Speaker 16 (23:12):
Sound pretty good? Pretty good?
Speaker 8 (23:15):
That's how god were you that you didn't throw them
into interceptions today?
Speaker 19 (23:20):
I am p ode and both let me know. First,
of course, I knew he would as soon as I
got up, he'd be like, you'd be a fantastic player
if you just catch those balls. Yeah, yeah, Dean, Dean,
he doesn't even have to mess up for him to
hear with both, you.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Got some young players, talented guys in your room. Now.
It's the NFL, right, so that's always gonna be the case.
But what does that do.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
For you guys as a group as first, you know,
both helping them out obviously his rookies, but.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Then making you better.
Speaker 16 (23:53):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 19 (23:54):
I mean off the bat's new energy and in the
room you can just kind of feel that the intensity
is just starting to rise up. And it's good, I
mean to embrace it as a room and to come together.
I mean, everybody's fighting to be that next level, get
to that next level, and you know, we're trying to
catch these young guys up as quickly as possible, you know,
going in the training camp. We want to be able
to go into the season at our best, and when
(24:15):
they're playing at their best, it allows us to rise
our game to an even higher level. And so they've
just been getting in shape, getting under the playbook. But
it's good to have new energy in that room, for sure.
Speaker 14 (24:25):
You thought specifically in Morrison.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
I know he hasn't been out there full time because
he's still covering, but also Perish the drafted corner.
Speaker 19 (24:32):
Yeah, Morrison's definitely detail oriented. He's a smart guy. He's sharp,
he's always asking questions. He's a little bit quiet. I
mean all rookies are a little quiet, but he's definitely
in the meeting rooms paying attention. He's pulling us aside
on the sideline, asking us what we see in certain sets.
Speaker 16 (24:46):
And Jacob, I mean I can tell he's just a dog.
You know, he's gonna work.
Speaker 19 (24:49):
He's not going to complain about anything. You know, the coaches,
whatever they ask of him, he's gonna do it with
no questions, and he's going to do it at a
high level.
Speaker 16 (24:59):
And he's catching up pretty fast.
Speaker 15 (25:03):
Coach Poles call you after the draft and as far
as saying, hey, we drafted a couple of corners that
getting ready to.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Compete or something like that.
Speaker 19 (25:11):
No, you told me during exit mietens that we're gonna
bring some guys into that room and that he you know,
we want to bring that room and put more competition
in there to raise our games up and take those
guys into our wing and teach them everything we know.
But he told me it was expected, and that's it's
the NFL. You know, everybody gets older and you gotta replenish.
Speaker 18 (25:31):
Did you when you heard about Jacob Parrish's interceptions.
Speaker 14 (25:35):
At rookie Camp?
Speaker 19 (25:36):
I saw them, So I watched the film and I
saw them, and I was impressed by a lot of
the players that he made in his ball skills, just
his composure. It stands out a lot to me, you know,
seeing him. I know it was rookie mini camp, but
I mean he got together during phase two and you
kind of see that same composure.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Speaking of interceptions, Boss had another interception out there and
no surprise, but surprise.
Speaker 14 (25:56):
What do you expect from him?
Speaker 1 (25:58):
You know, I know that the key is is to
remain healthy, but he has the chance now to possibly
run the show absolutely.
Speaker 16 (26:04):
I mean, staying healthy, of course is number one for
not only him but all of us.
Speaker 19 (26:08):
But we have a lot of trust in Boss and
as corners, we have a lot of trust in him.
And you know, he reminds me of like Fred Warner,
you know, a linebacker who can speak, get everybody lined up,
but really really good against the past.
Speaker 16 (26:20):
And he's a real.
Speaker 19 (26:21):
Smart, excuse me, savvy guy, and I love playing with
him because he just brings a new energy. He's always
in the uddle, hyping people love, He's always smiling, and you.
Speaker 16 (26:29):
Know he's gonna be where you're expecting to be.
Speaker 8 (26:31):
The books obviously drafted a couple of cornerbacks, but you're
also on a contract here. How could you need more
any fuels to the fire or how.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
Does that add to it?
Speaker 11 (26:39):
Oh?
Speaker 16 (26:39):
It adds so much to it, you know.
Speaker 19 (26:41):
I mean, I love the Bucks, and I want to
make plays for the Bucks and myself and my family.
And knowing the opportunity that I have in front of me,
you know, it's really really exciting.
Speaker 16 (26:48):
It puts a new chip on my shoulder.
Speaker 17 (26:50):
You know.
Speaker 19 (26:51):
I feel kind of like I was a rookie coming
in here. I got to prove it all over again
and continue to rise my game to the next level.
Speaker 11 (26:57):
Being in a contract year, how much does it feel
like it's it's flown by?
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Al righty, that you're in.
Speaker 11 (27:01):
Your year four.
Speaker 19 (27:03):
That's crazy, It's crazy. I mean, I still feel like
this is my first interview, I mean, my rookie year.
But it's flown by in all the best ways. You know,
I think that it's flown by if I just look back.
But you know, I've been through so much. I just
have so much experience and so much different plays and
playing against a lot of players and seeing a lot
(27:24):
of game that at this point the game is slowed
down and at this point, I'm all about trying to
become that highlight player.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
Is also on the schedule.
Speaker 19 (27:33):
When you saw it, I love it. Shit, I thought
we dealt a really good hand. You know, a late
bye week is really really nice. Four primetime games is
always fun starting off going into the division is pretty crazy.
And it's gonna get this season snowballing the right way.
Speaker 16 (27:50):
Get revenge for last year exactly.
Speaker 19 (27:52):
I mean, I feel like we always have revenge games
on our list, and they always bless us with with rematches.
Speaker 16 (27:57):
Going into these next seasons.
Speaker 19 (27:59):
You got a chipping our shoulder with an early game
last year in Detroit, and now we have one this
year versus Atlanta.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
Mentioned that chip on your shoulder, like, you know you defense,
but overall with the veterans, you've seen how the offense
scores a lot of points. I know there was injuries
last year on defense. Do you guys do you feel
it as a team on the defense with a chip
on your shoulder. theF you guys can get back the
way you used to be able to play, you can.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Really go far.
Speaker 16 (28:25):
Absolutely.
Speaker 19 (28:26):
I mean, we know the offense's top tier offense and
they put up a lot of points, and us as
a defense being really really harder than ourselves, we're like,
if we can stop the offense from scoring seven to
fourteen more points, you know, we win the Super Bowl.
And that's just the attitude that we have that we
have to come together and step up to really make
this team one solid unit that could really be a
(28:46):
force for years to come.
Speaker 16 (28:47):
Not just this year, thoughts.
Speaker 6 (28:49):
Meeting, but what was it like watching your brother win
the Super Bowl? And how does that fuel your fire
being like, hey, I need to kind of match that
and get one for my own.
Speaker 16 (29:00):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 19 (29:01):
I was there, uh for a little bit of that week,
and just being able to walk around with them and
experience and see all of his teammates getting ready and
preparing for the game. And then the fact that it
was in New Orleans and a familiar place and just
being in the stands, it just felt so weird, a
little awkward. It was amazing, you know, cheering him on,
But when they ended up winning the way that they did,
(29:22):
I was like, Man, if we could just get there
and then we could have that opportunity. And but it's
an experience that our family is gonna have with us
for the rest.
Speaker 16 (29:31):
Of our lives.
Speaker 14 (29:32):
Root for the Eagles, I.
Speaker 16 (29:35):
Can't say.
Speaker 19 (29:37):
I was rooting for Tristan response.
Speaker 18 (29:43):
What have been your thoughts about the the corners and
in the safeties, like the whole secondary Nichols as well,
all meeting uh together, that seemed to be a little
something different Eagas are doing this year.
Speaker 19 (29:52):
I think that's gonna be a really really big thing
that allows us to come together that not a lot
of fans and media can see, you know, because it's in.
Speaker 16 (30:00):
The meeting rooms.
Speaker 19 (30:01):
But I mean, whereas it used to be us separate
and the first time we're talking to each other in
the mornings is when we get out to the field.
Now we're there for an hour, hour and a half,
already talking, already communicating.
Speaker 16 (30:13):
Antoine's right next to me.
Speaker 19 (30:14):
I can communicate with him what we're gonna get at
practice or what we expect to see in the game,
and he can tell me his thoughts and we can
just go back and forth. We put game film on
and we act like we're on the field, and so
it's just gonna build camaraderie.
Speaker 16 (30:25):
It's gonna build, you know.
Speaker 19 (30:26):
Team chemistry, which I think has been a little bit
lacking between.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
Us and Twine, and certainly had an injury filled year.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
I don't think he was himself from early in the season,
battle through some things. What's it like to get him
back on the grass. Now, how does he sound, how
does he feel? And what will you be? How different
are you when thirty ones out there?
Speaker 19 (30:46):
Yeah, Antoine's Antoine. I mean he's always going to be
an All Pro player in my eyes. And that's just
the way that he carries himself, is the way that
he plays. I mean, coach allows him to get up
in meetings sometimes and talk to everybody and coach us
up almost like he know how to do some certain
things and how it goes through his mind.
Speaker 16 (31:03):
Having him on the field.
Speaker 19 (31:04):
Next to me, that most confidence in my game. I'm
able to talk and communicate and he's on the exact
same page, and it just allows us to play fast.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Injuries are a part of the game.
Speaker 8 (31:14):
Everyone knows that whatever. But I think you played one
game together and not even a full game because you
went out in that first week, So like, how much
does that really affect not just your play, but when
you're looking over and you've got a new nickelback, you've
got a new safety up there allows a couple of
weeks to there, how does that affect the way you
play your game or that communication to maybe not sustain
(31:38):
the level of your you expected the playoffs.
Speaker 16 (31:41):
Yeah, it's definitely a big deal.
Speaker 19 (31:44):
You don't want it to be a big deal, but
going through a training camp and playing alongside certain guys
and then all that changes up for the entire season.
Of course, there's gonna be bumped in the road. I
think now that we're all meeting together, and also just
in terms of today, I mean, we're able to go
and mix and match different groups.
Speaker 16 (32:00):
You know, I'm not just playing with the ones on
my side.
Speaker 19 (32:02):
I'm playing with the twos, the threes, the four's, and
vice versa. Everybody's mixed matching and playing together and communicating together,
and so we're just all getting on the same page.
And to that point, it's next man up. It doesn't
it doesn't matter, you know, it didn't matter last year.
It's no excuse last year, and it's definitely not gonna
be on this year.
Speaker 8 (32:19):
So is that a big point of emphasis is that
you know, we've heard communication too. Is preaching that and
really practicing at that this year so that everybody doesn't
matter if we on our pit safety, I know what
he's doing, he knows what I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Et cetera.
Speaker 19 (32:33):
Absolutely, that's exactly what we're doing in the meeting room.
That's exactly what the team chemistry is gonna add to cause.
Speaker 15 (32:40):
Just more viewing list of names of guys competing for
nickel job, uh or in the next one. Is that
something that you're maybe focusing more on this year whereas
last year you were you know, you were at.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
The other side of down hundred percent.
Speaker 19 (32:53):
I'm focused on playing corner, but m I'm focused on
playing defensive back. Also, you know, I can play any
position back there, corners, aft, linebacker, it doesn't really matter.
You know, I'm preparing to play anything, and we don't
know what's gonna go on, and during the season, anybody
can go down at any point, and we just want
the best of loving on the field.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Okay, Well know, look good, You're.
Speaker 12 (33:22):
Just starting to grant bark to ask you when you
look back a.
Speaker 13 (33:25):
Year from now, uh, where you see the biggest growth
of the biggest difference from where you were sitting here
a year ago.
Speaker 20 (33:32):
Honestly just perfecting the scheme, how I approach practice and
walk throughs, and just coming in with the right attitude.
Speaker 13 (33:38):
What do you wanna see you from your rookie class?
Because obviously a lot of what's made about it last
year and how much you guys contributed, but what do
you wanna see not just from yourself, but this entire
sophomore class.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Now this year?
Speaker 9 (33:50):
I mean, I just wanna see us be pros.
Speaker 20 (33:53):
I wanna see us lead the younger guys, but just
also be a beacon of light towards the older guys
and just staying in our lane and just make what's.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Your impression so far? I'm in Mecca, been coming in
here as a rookie. Yeah, and you obviously got Mike
and Chris still around, right, but at some.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
Point it'll be your shows as well. So what uh,
what is your impression in so far?
Speaker 20 (34:12):
He's a pro, really serious about practice and just already
knows damn you have to playbook.
Speaker 9 (34:19):
So I'm really excited for his growth in his future.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Here.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
How much did he know Mecca growing up?
Speaker 4 (34:25):
Cause I know you were kind of in the the
same circuit there.
Speaker 20 (34:28):
Yeah, I heard about him through high school seven on
seven like FSP and I was trying to get him
to commit to you there. But that's a whole nother story.
Speaker 9 (34:38):
But yeah, let me look at year one.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
It's so crazy.
Speaker 8 (34:42):
You're coming off the whole pre drop process. You're doing
all these interviews, You're not really in football shape, you're
in pro day and combline shape. Coming into the year
two having nothing but football and being in the strength
and development and the nutritionists and all that stuff. How
much has it allowed you to kind of settle in
compared to your first year where it's all this stuff.
Speaker 18 (35:02):
It's crazy.
Speaker 20 (35:03):
Yeah, it allowed me to settle down and just crrate
my routine. You know, I kind of like waking up
at like nine point thirty and just get my day going.
So being able to do that and surround myself with
good people and just good energies been playing a good
part in my off season.
Speaker 9 (35:16):
Jilen.
Speaker 12 (35:16):
Even to touch a big growth within your rookie year
in terms of what you're able to do in the
first nine ten games versus the last second half of
the year.
Speaker 14 (35:23):
Where where do you go to springboard from that?
Speaker 12 (35:26):
What were the things you wanted to do this offseason
to improve from there?
Speaker 18 (35:29):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (35:29):
Just be with my feet are be be? Uh just
intent with all my accents.
Speaker 20 (35:33):
I felt like last year I was more focused on
like how am I gonna look in the future instead
of worrying about what I wanted to accomplish in the moment.
And as you can see, I mean, as I focused
on the moment, I did good things.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
So Gill, you look at Chris gets back, you and Mecca, Mike, Chris.
You know there's a chance you all four could be
out there.
Speaker 14 (35:52):
And field at the same time. I gotta think that
the matchups for you are gonna be very favorable.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
Just talk about how that could be a nightmare for
defenses to defend all of that talent at the wide
receiver position, much less Bucky in the backfield too.
Speaker 9 (36:08):
Yeah, we got a lot of talent.
Speaker 20 (36:10):
I mean it's really just us us against us really,
so just being there for one another and just honing
in on the talent that we possess and just staying focused.
Speaker 12 (36:19):
Really like working with Josh Bizzard now that he's the
offensive coordinator and what he expects.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
From the group.
Speaker 20 (36:26):
Yes, it's a lot last year, but we're just harping
on being perfect with our schemes and just finding new
ways to get open.
Speaker 9 (36:32):
So it's really fun.
Speaker 18 (36:33):
What about for you would have been some of your
goals that you want to try to address this offseason.
Speaker 20 (36:39):
Definitely get stronger, get faster, get smarter, just keep my
circle tight. And I mean last year I was on
I think I was on a great run last year,
So just continuing that and not falling off of it.
Speaker 18 (36:54):
What did that do for you last year, that that
end of the season run right, like hitting the league
in touchdowns there towards the end. What did that do
for you from a mental standpoint?
Speaker 20 (37:02):
Oh, gave me a lot of confidence. I think it
also gave me a lot of Yeah, just confidence with
them myself. So just going out on the field and
feeling belonging.
Speaker 18 (37:11):
And and to what you had said about the future, Well,
why do you think that was that you were kind
of focused on that versus being present but in the moment, cause.
Speaker 9 (37:19):
When you first get out there, I mean, every it's
it's different for everybody.
Speaker 20 (37:21):
But for me, it was just like going out there
and seeing Bobby Wagner and linebacker and you just like, damn,
he about to tackle me, Like that's pretty crazy. But
I mean now it's you know, it's easy to see
where I am and be where my feet are.
Speaker 8 (37:36):
Came in with Devin Koff last year and as you
were kind of going up for the season, he was
getting his.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Opportunity of making the most stuff.
Speaker 8 (37:42):
Like how cool was it to have that moment together
where you're both getting playing time, you're both kind of
showing out.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
Oh, it was dope.
Speaker 20 (37:48):
It kind of brought me back to U Dub and
just seeing each other nick play, so we kind of
just build off our own energy and kind of compute
each other.
Speaker 9 (37:55):
So it's fun going back to.
Speaker 4 (37:56):
That coming into the year two. What do you expect
to see out of him?
Speaker 9 (38:00):
Oh? Big things.
Speaker 20 (38:03):
I mean I expect him to be everything he wants
to be, which is the best side in the league.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
So you mentioned getting stronger, Like what does that entail?
Like you're trying to gain weight just muscle strength, Like,
how are you going about that?
Speaker 9 (38:15):
I just muscle?
Speaker 20 (38:16):
You know, I want to look the part too. I
feel like last year I was kind of skinny, but
I mean I've been getting on my Yeah, a little
protein powder, work in the kitchen, Yeah, private chef and stuff.
Speaker 12 (38:31):
With all the UV guys, and then Tess and Bucky
from Oregon and.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Best presence. What'll be like to go up there this year?
Speaker 20 (38:40):
Said that one time I thought, what would it be
like to play? It'll be fun, but for the record,
we'd be getting on Oregon dusts.
Speaker 18 (38:49):
But you know, just just so you know, that's a
big kind of relationship with you previously as well. You're
kind of like the glue with these with these rookie receivers.
Speaker 9 (38:58):
Yeah, I mean, Tess, here's me lot. So I mean
I've been getting his head about that whole record.
Speaker 8 (39:05):
Where are you that weight?
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Wait, like you said you wanted to get bigger, you
do look bigger if you gained some weight in terms.
Speaker 14 (39:10):
Of putting on some size.
Speaker 20 (39:12):
Uh, I'm not too served but how much I've gained,
But I mean I've just I've gotten stronger. I've had
like a two and a half myth off season, so
I mean I feel confident with my strength and just
going out there out there on the field and just
not being able to get push to the sideline everything else.
Speaker 8 (39:26):
Looking forward to competing with a with I'm back out
for that, for that number three slot.
Speaker 20 (39:30):
Yeah, I mean, I'm just looking forward to make the
most of opportunities. I'm not really worried about any three, four, five,
six spots. I'm just worried about when the ball come
out way and make the play.
Speaker 16 (39:40):
Alright, thank you, Thanks you,
