Speaker 1 (00:00):
In a couple of weeks since we last saw you.
I don't know, if you just wanna catch us up
on what's been going on.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
In your world.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
I'm sure a lot of a lot of things moving
really fast.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:08):
I was back home in Washington after my visit down
here and seeing everything for the first time. Got spent
some additional time with my family, my siblings, everything like that,
you know, and kind of just been training preparing for
this moment.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
And then we got practiced in like an hour. So
I'm excited.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
It's a real good that number nine on its as
well as fucking your help.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
It's it's amazing. It's been a lifelong dream of mine
to be in the NFL. Uh, you know, whether I
was wearing you know, the number of.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
One hundred and seven up, but I'll be just as happy. So,
you know, this is the league.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
There's a lot of savage guys here, so I'm just
trying to get them where I fit in with cheer.
Speaker 6 (00:38):
Foss pressions already in the building, you know, getting in here,
the meeting room, stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Us you could just tell, you know, talking to the
guys and the coaches and uh, how much people take
pride in the work that they do here, how genuine.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
The culture is and the people around here.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
So it's definitely a good place to be, especially in
my first few days, just me and everybody putting names
of face and things like that.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
So it's been a good learning experience for it's.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
A late to have another rookie and because Johnson, uh
in these meetings with you, so your you know, your
rck olchers. It's it's it's a it's the only yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, lest No, it's awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:14):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
I spend a little bit of time of test throughout
college and stuff like that and watch his journey.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
I've always thought he's a really talented player, So I'm excited.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I'm excited to see what he does and what we
can do together, uh, side by side on the field,
but you know, just uh having that that actual guy
to be able to you know, bounce play calls off
of and uh, you know, studying the hotel and stuff
like that. You're not just on your own. So it
definitely feels nice.
Speaker 8 (01:34):
What was that like for you to have Baker and
member City offensive line to by you and and your family.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
To to brunch and me?
Speaker 8 (01:42):
What was it your second day in Tampa, just to
have them reach out to you like that and trying
to make you feel so welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yeah, I mean it meant a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
You know, you kind of hear stories about how the
NFL goes, and you know, horror stories about just guys
who are a big time or have all these huge egos,
and for bigger to kind of reach out like that
and and uh you know, extend the advantation to in
invitation to me and my family. It just it just
meant a lot to me, to us and uh, you
know we we had a great brush disabled me all alignment.
Uh see the guys who are gonna have to run
(02:11):
eighty yards downfield after our scored, so you know it,
it was just a really good experience for me.
Speaker 8 (02:17):
So there's no bad blood that the no Ohio state.
Uh uh uh you bad blood that with a whole
years ago flag.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
I don't know, not at all. This is you know,
we're we're grown now, we're past all that, and you
know we're we're one heartbeat.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Now what are your voters honestly to to do everything
that's asked me? To do my job as little mistakes
as possible, to play fast. You know, there's no really talent.
What could happen in rookie minnie camp as far as
you know how many pass you're gonna get, how many
reps you're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
So just doing every opportunity. I have to make the
most of every rip that I do.
Speaker 9 (02:48):
Yet, you know, stretcher to the leadership throwing, do you
feel uh ale the leader among the rookie class and
how does.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
That translate over into with the beat sk year as money?
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Yeah, I feel like that was a kind of a
character trait of mind that you know, through sc the
discounting department, something that uh you know, Jason and coach
Poles have have looked at UH wind recruit me from
Ohio State. So I think that that's that's something that
they expect to me and something that I'm very comfortable
in doing. So, you know, someone's gotta kind of lead
in and take uh charge, and I feel very capable
and confident.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
In doing that. That's a big change, that's kid.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
You know, there's there's a whole a whole class of
young guys that still need to be lead and whole
class of young guys.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Are still rookies.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
So I definitely the defer to vets in in kind
of all areas, but you know, they don't wanna deal
with all the the mess that comes with a rookie
class sometimes. So just making sure that you know, we're
all online and we're able to help them out in
any way that they need and just be under their
winging and listen and learn to everything that they have
to teach us.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Speaking of the that's have you have you heard from
Lang or Chris, Jalen, Jeff any of those guys yet.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I haven't met them in person, though we've been communicating
through social media and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
They're not really any hold us any world me So,
but if he have this sign to the first dally
build that dream, what was that.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Like, Yeah, I'm putting bend to paper. It was like a,
you know, such a monumental moment in my life. So
I'm not been chasing ever since I could, you know,
uh play football some you know kind of just that
uh you know those financial applications that come with it
and uh being able to bless my family and give
back to them in any way that I can. So
(04:18):
just having that that confidence in the contract and everything
like that, just it's a it's a crazy feeling.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
There gonna be a lot of pressure the first round pigs.
But how much does it help? Have it like in
Chris in whiteor shape here ins fee down, Yeah, it
helps a lot.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I'm here to learn, I'm here to grow, and you know,
I kind of wanna just do anything I can to
to maximize my opportunity.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So obviously, I know I was picked very high in
the NFL draft, and.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Uh, you know, there's a lot of expectations that come
with that. But I think, uh, those expectations pa pale
in comparison to the expectations I have for myself.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
So I don't know, stranger the expectations.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I put a lot of pressure on myself, and you know,
sometimes it could be good, cause sometimes it could be bad.
But I have, you know, big dreams, and I'm very ambitious.
So just doing my diligent work every day to be
able to rest those.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
What's that like for you? Going into like you know,
you're gonna be do a lot in a locker room
where you're gonna be wanna meet I guess, and you're
gonna be a rookie.
Speaker 8 (05:10):
But right now out here you're expected to kind of
lead this munch, Like you said, make sure that everybody
falls in line.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
You're the leader of this rookie class. What kind of responsibility,
uh is that for you?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
I mean, you know, you gotta set the tone and
come out fast and come out confident and be able
to use this momentum to propel you kind of into
the rest of the season and then to training camp
and OTI is when all the guys are here.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
So it's a it's a chance for me and.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
All the other rookies to be able to build confidence,
you know, realize that we're not too uh small for this,
for this big moment, we're meant to be here and
kind of just getting our feet wet and get all
those you know, first day jitters.
Speaker 7 (05:44):
Out the way.
Speaker 10 (05:45):
Have you had a chance to see the Tampa Bay
area at all, because it any places?
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Not much, honestly, Yeah, I haven't been around too much yet,
so it's coming to Tampa Bay.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
What if your interaction has been lang with Josh Rezert.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Yeah, he's he's been great, you know, kind of just
he's a he's a great offensive mind.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
You can tell just by talking to him. And uh,
you know, I haven't had too much like individual meetings
with him or s anything like that. It's mostly been
with uh, you know, coach mcglennon, and but you know,
it's been good. I'm excited to see, uh you know,
how's mind comes to fruition on.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
The field and everything like that, and how we get
to uh you know, scheme of our defense things.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Didn't get get a copy of the playbook?
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yeah, we everyone everyone gets to play, so we're able
to study and and stuff like that when we go
to the hotel at nights.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
So we're not you know, chickens with our head off
when they're coming out to practice.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Do you hope it to get out of today?
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Honestly, it just get my feet underneath me. It's been
a while since I played football, so I'm really looking
forward to it. Obviously something I'm very passionate about. So
just a chance to be able to compete, you know,
I'm just really excited.
Speaker 11 (06:43):
For what about the application process of of the weather
and something everybody has to deal with when they come
down here.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
And you've played football on a lot of different places,
but but to do with day in and day out
and this he can be quite an adjustment for for
some players.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah, just taking all the little bits and pieces of
advice that I can get. You know, I kind of
ask everyone to about it, uh, to kind of clean
any information I can to just as.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Quickly as possible. But you know, just staying hydrated, you.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Know, doing a lot of work before I got here
in Washington to make sure I'm in shape and everything
like that.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
So I'm hoping it pulled.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
Uh I it worked out, you're gonna stick with nine
or you're gonna see how things play out.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
You know, it's early, so early. You know, I'm just
excited to be able to get on the field to day. Honestly,
I wasn't even too concern about uh my number at
the end of the day.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
It's just a number.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Uh It's not gonna affect how a player or anything
like that. So you know, that's kind of one of
the furthest things from.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
My mind right now.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Alright, guys, that's all for Mecca Avenge.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
But more so you dont set what should rehabing knowing.
Speaker 12 (07:35):
It's been going good, just trusting what the trainers having, uh,
just for the plan for myself going through this uh
rookie Minnie camp and then going to Ota.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
So I'm getting well and getting healthy and it feels
good to be back out there.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
What's the plane for you for things?
Speaker 7 (07:48):
Two days?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, just figure out where I'm at. I mean, new system,
new people.
Speaker 12 (07:53):
Although you go through all like the combine uh medical process,
I mean, it's different when they have their hands on
you and things like that.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
So just having them figured it out, what's still going
through it. So we'll see as the week goes on.
Speaker 7 (08:05):
So that's coming to Tampa Bay. I think you have
the chance to cal him down a little bit, a
little a little bit.
Speaker 12 (08:09):
I think it's just a relief of knowing where you're
gonna be living there for the next couple of years,
hopefully your whole career. So I mean obviously exciting, awesome
place to play at. I mean I couldn't land out
any better place than.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
This, So it's a blessing.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
Have you been able to get in touch with any
of your teammage, any the veterans or in Virginia.
Speaker 12 (08:26):
Yeah, I mean me and Dig of a roommate, so
I assume that we're gonna be really close eventually.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
And then obviously the the wind fields of the world.
Speaker 12 (08:33):
I mean, he's just one of one. I mean what
he's done on the field is truly special. So just
obviously having that guy to look up to and have
questions for has been huge. So I'm excited to learn
from them and go and get.
Speaker 13 (08:45):
Better relatively for like like the typoles who is full
received you, So yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
You know he's he's getting the secondary flood.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 12 (08:54):
I mean, coming from coach Freeman that deep with the mindset,
having that head coaches who's during UH and here he's
looking over at the Saints and corners there's another another
extra eye.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
So coming to this this UH team, it's it's nothing
gonna change.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
So, I mean, I I love it.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
That's what I'm used to.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
I'm playing for a defensive coach, So that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
You like players zone, man, if you prefer what what where?
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Do you think you're better than?
Speaker 12 (09:18):
Yeah, I think I excel both. I think for me,
it just depends on the situation. Whatever they ask for
me to do, I'm gonna do it. And UH and
I planned to exceed at a high level at it.
Speaker 7 (09:26):
Siche What did your dad tell you about bulls?
Speaker 9 (09:29):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (09:29):
I mean he just told me straight to the point.
He was like, honestly straight to the point.
Speaker 12 (09:32):
He's a matter of fact and He's just like, that's
you would like what you got on the phone with
what you're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
He's just like he's a good dude, great man, cares
about your his players and things of that.
Speaker 7 (09:41):
So yeah, how what you're with a lead on.
Speaker 8 (09:42):
Your dive, Like not just from a former player standpoint,
but also from a spiritual standpoint going through this process
all the uncertainties that come.
Speaker 12 (09:50):
With that, Yeah, it's been huge. I mean my face
was really capable with me through all this. I mean
it was really tested. I Mean, you can say you're Christian,
you can say you're all that until your face is
fake playing to the ground and all the people once
cheering for you are criticizing you, giving you names that
I mean in the day's football, you know what I'm saying.
My dad always says like injuries are are part of
(10:11):
the game, but they're never playing. So he's been he's
been always that kind of rock in my of my
of my foundation growing up. So I mean he's everything
to me. He's not just I mean he's played football
that but for at the end the days, my dad first,
so it just happened him.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
My corner means a world.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Your draft phone call was like so emotional, like vulnerable.
Speaker 8 (10:32):
It was raw, and so many people really just felt that.
Can you just kind of talk about the reaction to that?
Did you expect so many people to react just as
positively as they did?
Speaker 1 (10:43):
I mean it was a very touching moment.
Speaker 12 (10:44):
Yeah, I think for me, I did. I was doing
it for anyone else. I think for me, it was
just like just the year that I had last year.
I mean, going into the year, understand that was one
of the top corners, and then you get injured and
then you feel like you're forgotten about, and then there's
so many things behind closed doors that uh many people
don't know that to go through last year with just
uncertainty of of my hip, the the combine process, all
(11:07):
that stuff, so it it honestly felt like a lot
of people gave up on me.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
And you know, I'm still a kid in the day.
I'm I'm growing up, so I mean I still have
to have the growing pain. So it was tough by
the end of the day. I mean, God isn't make mistakes.
Speaker 12 (11:19):
Land at the right spot and it kind of validated it,
and I walked through doors that just the place I'm
supposed to be at My mom was like, you're on
a mission.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
God see you here for a reason, and and go
attack it.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
You explain the issue kind of your terms, how it
affects you, what exactly is.
Speaker 12 (11:36):
It's kind of in Yeah, I think the injury itself,
I mean it's I was bilateral. I found out when
I was young. Cat need to get it done. We
waited for my road place to close. But I mean, honestly,
it wasn't the injury that was the hardest manly, just
the mental stuff. I mean, the rehab is rehabs. It's
the attack every single day. I mean, you're gonna get
a hundred percent.
Speaker 7 (11:54):
It is what it is.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
So the biggest thing is just the the mental aspect
of it. The physical is what we do every single day.
After they were warriors, we can go through stuff like that,
but just a mental aspect.
Speaker 13 (12:04):
Eventually, when when you look at this, uh, this hip injuries,
you kind of you had your previous urasion done in
high school.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
You you geld a noted name as a freshman, you
get six interceptions, you know a starter. Does does that
help your confidence? Then when you've done it once before
and got back to a really high level really quickly,
does that helped.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
You in the spronship? Yeah, it does.
Speaker 12 (12:23):
I mean honestly, like for me, it's just like when
you said, I mean I have the same hit that
uh you know, people were concerned the Valois, but they
were walking on film for the past five years. So
the players that they they wow, the vals On is
on a repaired hip and the other ones give me
the same way.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
I mean, I'm I'm older, I I I heal faster
things of that.
Speaker 12 (12:39):
So I mean it's not gonna be the exact same
just because I'm a different phase of my life, but
the overall same people helped me out.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
So I mean I I planned have the same success
that didn't want to have the first one, but.
Speaker 10 (12:49):
We saw you have, uh the white board, manifesteds and
a lot of things that you've accomplished.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Well that continue.
Speaker 7 (12:55):
You have some goals.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
That does it you put there when they.
Speaker 12 (12:59):
Reason, Yeah, I think for me, I I do that
just because like at the end of the day, like
you can set those planes that a God has his own.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
For you and for me, I I that really shaped
this year just because I.
Speaker 12 (13:09):
Had the plans, I had goals I aspired to achieve,
but I didn't get those. That doesn't mean I'm a failure.
Does it mean that I I I can't still achieve those?
So for me, it's just like, look like you just achieve,
you try to go for it all and if not,
then you settled. But next, next, next one ahead. And
so that's how I look at it.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
I talked to coachmapm So she said that you prepare
like a pro already you know, in college, and then
you know, you go out there and you practice, you
get everything.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
The country like a game that when does that come
from your dad?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
And and uh your uncle peril?
Speaker 7 (13:38):
Then you know where does that something? What does that
come from? And how does that carry over?
Speaker 12 (13:42):
I think for me it's just seeing where my parents work,
I mean, seeing the way they attack their respect areas
of work I mean and the day this is a job,
and even the college of school and all that stuff.
I I knew where I wanted uh to be ultimately
that's here, So why not start a young age. So
for me, it's just seemed like my mom and dad worked,
how hard they work to provide.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
A better life for me and my siblings. To who
am I not to work hard of my respected area?
And if you shouldn't get my family that life one day.
Speaker 7 (14:09):
What is a play for a program that favorite game?
How does that prepare you for right vice?
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Pressure of you?
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I mean it's a national stage every single week.
Speaker 12 (14:17):
I mean I opened up my first ever game at
eighteen years old playing Ohio State, ended up playing that game.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
So for me, it just prepares me to go into that. Yeah,
look at the guys who I've gone against in.
Speaker 12 (14:26):
College, different buyer, different body types, who who are excelled
in the NFL at a high level.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
So for me, it's just it gave me.
Speaker 12 (14:34):
That wide variety of different receivers and then also just
the the the man that notre Dame like kind of
like molded me to be. I went there, boy, came
out of man. Just through my coaching staff, the people
around me, even my players. I mean, having guys like
cam Heart and even Coyle Hamilton coming back to school,
just see the way they operate.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Uh, it's inspiring for a young.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
Kid like me.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
And I was like, I wanna be like that one
that what.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Receiver matchups do you think like really helped.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Preparing you for this next level? Yeah? I think all honestly,
I I think the ones that it's unspoken is are as.
Speaker 12 (15:04):
As a scout team, I think a lot of guys
get uh big, like caught up on the big name.
But the guys you really go against some practice of
scout team and those are like the unsung heroes, cause
they give you the looks of what you're gonna face
on Saturday. So for me, it was my scout team guy,
So shout out them. A lot of the WAPU nations
undo the name, so I mean it's it's them.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
It's not every year you come in with uh a
lot of receiver. If it was gonna take in the
first round, if you're obvious your.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
Second round, first round town, how excited are you looking
forward to that matchup.
Speaker 7 (15:31):
To go and prove yourself up against the back.
Speaker 12 (15:34):
Yeah, it's awesome. And he's a he's a great player.
I mean, he got drafted for a reason. He he
had an amazing career at Ohio State. So just be
coming in here being able to compete. That's that's one
thing I like about this. You're able to compete every
single day against the best, regardless it's him or undrafted
uh free age. I mean, you're gonna compete a high level.
But back to your question. I mean it's it's gonna
be exciting. I mean, happing a guy got.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
To push me and h and I push him is
gonna be It's gonna be fun for years to come.
Speaker 7 (15:59):
Kay.
Speaker 13 (16:00):
Think if you're coming to a gem that's got Son
Reddick and multiply your pro board and the up and
coming start like.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Yeah, yah, yam.
Speaker 13 (16:08):
You just how excited you need part of that room,
you guys, Chris braswell, anything else in the center.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Yeahh uh, it's it's exciting. It just like you said,
you got all pros in the room.
Speaker 10 (16:17):
You got upcoming superstars and it's good to just uh
be in a room to sword and learn, uh and
just uh get under those guys' wings and just uh
just learn from.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
And if you see things coming out in the media,
you know, Jason lack Pocket, it's most excited to see
you this weekend. Uh, other people are calling you, you know,
one of the biggest steals in the draft. And what
does that mean to have like Mattress the bus or
message with so many people will get you to come
from a small school where you're not getting all that
plist and whatever being the talk of the draft and.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Talk to Tampa.
Speaker 10 (16:47):
Yeah, it's it's it was definitely un comfort It's most
of uh just saying like guys like that just really
invested in really uh trusting my my work and what
I do, and uh, I'm just ready to get after it.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Speaking to come, that's what it was.
Speaker 13 (17:00):
Just talked about your performance at the Senior Bowl and
beg your practice in the game and so just what
that was it?
Speaker 7 (17:05):
What to do for you?
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah? Yeah going into it, man, I was I was
excited just to compete.
Speaker 10 (17:09):
Like you said, like I'm from the FCS. Uh there's
really there's really some good talent there. But uh other
people say it's not talent. But just going to the
uh Senior Bowl and competing against the top guys that
got drafted.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
High, it was good.
Speaker 10 (17:20):
Each stay I built, I built on East Day and
in the game, it was just it was just like
practice and just go out there and do what I
always done.
Speaker 7 (17:26):
What year, But I don't know you saw the video,
Uh one of the bucks takes your name. Uh I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Sell then Uh how your position coach ran up and
hoped the general manager.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
So this is how you went to the Super Bowl
and and ever smiles all over the room. What was
you we actually seeing that?
Speaker 7 (17:40):
How how Babe reacted?
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Yeah? It was exciting. Like I said, man, just just
being in the NFL is is a dream come true.
Speaker 10 (17:46):
And just seeing coaches really invested in being really invested
in the class that they drafted, and uh, it's it's
exciting when.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
When when your position coaches that's.
Speaker 7 (17:54):
How you went to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Ah, that's right, that's that's doing heavy heavy expectations, isn't it. Yes,
there it is, But uh, I don't take it like that.
Uh though the room is stacked.
Speaker 10 (18:02):
Uh, i'm'a go in and learn from these guys and
hopefully I can contribute the best way I can.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
What do you hope to get accomplished these next two
days here?
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Uh? Just get used to the heat. Uh, get used
to that and just just learning from the coaches, learning
what uh what they.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Want me to do and what they expected of me.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
What are your thoughts on just coming to this NFL
facility and everything you got here?
Speaker 2 (18:21):
A little what?
Speaker 13 (18:22):
What?
Speaker 7 (18:22):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Yeah? Yeah? Uh man, it really ain't hit me until
I walked in the building. When I walked in the building,
I like, dang, this is real.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
I get to wear this blug's uniform and just get
to compete with all the guys just here. I'm I'm excited.
What you about, you rot man?
Speaker 10 (18:37):
I'll say the coaches just how the how they talk
to people, how they interact with people, and it's just
how they invested in us.
Speaker 14 (18:44):
Do you have the same reaction walking into the building
that you did and here where you're like, oh yeah,
yeah that was an emoji pay Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Driving by the stadium, I was like, dang, Like I
never been in one of those stadiums.
Speaker 10 (18:53):
Uh So, Like where I'm coming from is a small school,
so just sitting something that big, what's kind of cool?
Speaker 3 (18:59):
They in the uh age of the portal and everything.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
I know there was reasons why you stayed at CenTra Lark.
So did you told us a little bit about that?
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Yeah? It was about legacy for me.
Speaker 10 (19:07):
I was still sacks away, ten tag of alost, way
away from the all time record, and I just wanted
to be submitted somewhere. I could easily went somewhere else
and got eight nine sacks and be forgotten, but there
I'll forever be remembered in UCA, and I'll be inducted
in Hull of that one day and like that'll that'll
live on.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
But that's why I stay.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Then you open to Georgie Centers.
Speaker 10 (19:25):
Yes, ma'am thought to be a coach one day there.
You never know, So it was just it was just
a good thing for me and from my family close spot.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
To Is coaching something you're interested in in your post
plant career.
Speaker 10 (19:35):
Yeah, something I thought about doing. But I wanna get
into ministry. Uh, I wanna, I wanna get out of
that field.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Can you talk a little bit about that? Cause like
you posted on uh on acs slash Twitter uh and
you you went on ah a mission trip though.
Speaker 10 (19:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah, every summer I would try to go to go
somewhere with my uh my church back home.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
I've been to.
Speaker 10 (19:52):
Vietnam, Costa Rica, uh, Guatemala, places like that. I It's
just something I'm passionate about. I'm passionate about going to
different places and just uh tell.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
People, got tees what is that like for you?
Speaker 11 (20:02):
Because obviously football is such a big part of your life,
but clearly your faith is an even bigger part.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
I mean, does that help quit some of the day
you know, day to day.
Speaker 14 (20:11):
Struggles that that seems so big in the moment here.
Does that kind of put it in into proper perspective?
Speaker 7 (20:16):
Yes, yes, when you've seen.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
So much of the world, Yes, ma'am. Uh it it
uh it does a lot. I feel like I'm grounded.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
My faith comes first, and like football, He's blessed me
with the ability to play this game. So I'm gonna
give him all. And i'm'a try not to have worries.
Speaker 10 (20:28):
Why I'll do it because he said, don't don't worry,
you know, I mean, don't be anxious or anything.
Speaker 11 (20:32):
So have you a chance to connect with any of
your fellow new teammates because it's interesting.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
You know, the two guys that.
Speaker 8 (20:37):
Came in before you at uh Mecca and Benjamin have
both spoken a lot about their faith too.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (20:44):
Yeah, So I trained with a Mecca at uh at
Arizona and down in Xos. So, uh we we went
to church together. We we spent we spent a little
time again.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
So it's cool. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
And what did you describe yourself as a pass prompture?
What is your mentality when you're chasing the quarterback?
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah, just relentless effort.
Speaker 10 (21:00):
I'm tryna get to the ball by any means and
I'm tryna do anything to win, to help the team.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
Talk a little bit about uh the strategy and pass rushing.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Do you do you study?
Speaker 7 (21:09):
Uh? Live? Man? Do you have different different techniques?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
It's okay, it can be a chess game.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
How do you see it in your blood? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah, man?
Speaker 10 (21:15):
When I first get up there, I'm trying to get
a feel for help. I've been watching it on film
to see it getting a feel. Uh how how you
say it's how y if you see a little end
high end guy? Uh so, really just tryna look at
the ends of the house. If I speed up, is
he gonna jump me? Just stuff like that, and and
in the game it just actually happened.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
But watching you about film, like your athleticism and power
jump up. But what would you say is your best
pass rushingly?
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Yeah, I love the double swipe. I'll try to get
up on you and trying to swipe you.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
Ye, but I'm not uh I r I re a
lot of power excitedly and some singles for once law
school years.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
Oh man, I'm I'm excited. Uh They they said, uh man,
everybody's good in the NFL, So hopefully I'll.
Speaker 11 (21:53):
Get a lot of movies what's it like going from
college and having you know, or a lot of what
you're able to do is based on just physical ability.
But at the NFL, everybody's really physically gifted, and now
you have to have such a detailed plan of attack
for every guy that you will go up against every
tackle when you call up against street guys.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Inside, Just what what is that like making that transition?
How much more complicated is.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
That, you know when you kind of kind of playing
with time?
Speaker 10 (22:14):
Yeah, I feel like it really ain't uh really ain't
all that complicated. I feel like, uh, I know what
I do, I know what I'm good at, and I
also know the things that I need to work on.
And so man, being in here and hopefully the coaches
point me in the right direction. I know they will,
and just uh help me get better at film study,
help me get better at the little things that uh
that you need help with an NFL Cause talent only
gonna take you so far, so.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Anything else. Alright, thank you for.
Speaker 8 (22:42):
That.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
You set the bar really high for us all.
Speaker 7 (22:44):
Just sit you down.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Okay, So that was one of the most entertaining that path.
Oh the job, Oh yeah, r So he brought life.
Speaker 7 (22:52):
To I was really to get here. I was ready
to leave after the car. I was talking about to life.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
I'm ready to pack by bucking house.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
So you chumps the lake, hang, I ain't jumping that
lake alive, y'all. I ain't jumping the lake.
Speaker 7 (23:04):
I was making a lot. I was turned though.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
I was.
Speaker 7 (23:07):
I was celebrating my family, my little brother jumping the
lake for me though, gonna be jo.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
I got the video.
Speaker 7 (23:11):
I'll put it out. I tell I'll put it out
probably today.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Him jumping in the league.
Speaker 7 (23:15):
What was it like getting here?
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Getting here?
Speaker 7 (23:17):
Yea come building like home, Like I feel like I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Leave her for the rest of my life.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
So, I mean I enjoyed. I seen buckets first day
and still short, but uh, I'm excited. I can't shoot
place he missed you.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Fuck he get't interview.
Speaker 10 (23:35):
You got shame or I mean surf his third game
with the box they you spoke after the game like
I gotta get dr I gotta play for the box.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
They gotta drive.
Speaker 15 (23:44):
Yeah for sure, cause I mean his mom, well all mom,
cause I call her mom too, so uh, she always
like spoke it into his sistance like same when you
come to Tampa Bay next year, like we.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Gotta cook foe and Bucket was always just.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
Like Mom's not saying that, like and she was just
like it's gonna happen.
Speaker 9 (24:03):
And then when it happened, she was the second person
to call me, sad, I told you like he was.
I don't know, it's it just feels so real, like
who's faster?
Speaker 7 (24:15):
Who's faster?
Speaker 8 (24:16):
Me?
Speaker 16 (24:16):
Che check the forty times? Yeah, have you ever raced? Yeah, Buckie,
we raced a couple times. But he's still gonna say
like you hurdered him, just like, Okay, I don't let her,
but you still he faster.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Don't get me wrong.
Speaker 7 (24:28):
He fast.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
He's still gonna get caught on the back.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
And I'm you gotta get that up.
Speaker 7 (24:31):
You got it working the numb. But uh, that's one
boy though. He he you know I'm a faster thin'
y'alla really speak on it. He gonna say something when
you see this, he gonna say something. Now we now,
y'all got us arguing out. Now we got argued.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
What are you gonna doult to say? Morning routine?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Cause he is white?
Speaker 9 (24:45):
The early rise? I've fably what like I was up
this morning five of him. I was already on the
bus before everybody.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
So the only thing about it is I couldn't get
your life to be in the hot tell.
Speaker 9 (24:56):
That's the only thing now I'm missing right now. So
whenever that time come would probably been at the same time.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Have you back in, Chris Gottlin like that you make
here with not Yeah, Mike Ivers followed me on Insta,
gul I kind of like got starstruck.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
You know.
Speaker 7 (25:08):
I'm like, oh, Mike Ivens, like you know what I'm saying,
But uh, I can't wait til you get in here.
Just learn from those guys, especially life, you know, cause.
Speaker 9 (25:15):
Donald had been the lead for a minute, so uh,
it's always a great opportunity to learn from those guys.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
You know.
Speaker 13 (25:20):
I can't wait cause you were talking about being lighter.
The Bucks signed Mantis's heaviest player in the NFL. You
guys are the lightest and the heaviest in the NFL.
You see team what do you when you've been I've
been seeing that everywhere trending. It's still trending. I'm still
getting in tacted in it. But I seen him out here,
I see what's up to him.
Speaker 9 (25:39):
He quiet, but you can tell you from ber Dog
you gonna take a lot to move him name, he
gonna take a lot to move him.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
But he can't wait to go out here and see
what he does for sure, cause I think he gonna
be really good. Are you taking a bigture together yet? Nah,
I ain't take It's enough of it out there already
and we take with you. Now he gonna make me
look probably even the smallert.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
What do you guys? Backing out of yourself this speaking.
Speaker 9 (26:02):
Uh confidence being poise making it's supposed to plays as
my normal self being a leader early to the uh
rookie guys, creating.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
A good bum with the guys that I know I'll
be out here uh.
Speaker 9 (26:16):
At a mini mini camp and just helping guys, not
just being selfish to myself and one another place for myself,
just helping others like today.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
Back at Buka.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
I could just tell.
Speaker 7 (26:26):
Already I kind of like tight, like we talk through
the plays.
Speaker 9 (26:29):
Thought the turn in the huddle, like running out of
the huddle, alright, I'm leaving you, alright, i'm'a stay here
like that connection is already a big bill.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
So by something to feel together, it's.
Speaker 7 (26:39):
Gonna be ap me for sure. He gets a room
together house that.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Uh, I'm actually not rooming with him.
Speaker 9 (26:44):
I got the LSU guy John Shoot, yeah yeah, Josh,
I'm I'm I'm rooming with him right now.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
He can't even sleep with the TV off.
Speaker 9 (26:51):
Bro, I'm sitting there like bruh, I gotta put the
pillow over my head and now I can't breathe.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
But now he's he's gonna he's cool. Yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Good coaches is not Jason talk and say that.
Speaker 7 (27:05):
You're you're so much faster on the field with than
you thought it, right, I think, how how does that work?
If you have when we're on the field over the catches, Like,
how does that work? I just feel like, uh, the
game's not of forty mm and plus it's a lot
of adrenaline for me become small. I'm the small idea,
so I'm kind of run.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Away from these big guys. I don't wanna get touched.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
So, uh, it's that And it's just a lot like
football's The game is changing.
Speaker 9 (27:30):
I mean now today we look out there and see
a regulars we happy back in the day, it's not
like that.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
The game is.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
Definitely involving with uh, receivers and skied.
Speaker 9 (27:37):
And different formations, and I think that's what uh give
me the most confidence now that I can just go out.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
There and do it.
Speaker 9 (27:44):
I'm gonna be the fastest on the field. You gotta
know you more minute all the time. So like I said,
I'm ready for I can't win the showcase. It's I
can say it, but I just gotta puttee down on.
Speaker 13 (27:54):
The field cause you were aunt be very excited and
probably relieved just to get the call from a Buccan
years to be drafted sivith round rights.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
But if you had a chance to kind of steal
on that is is waiting until the seventh round and
second is right for you.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Give you some extra go to age.
Speaker 9 (28:07):
Definitely, they definitely put some more like just fire and
another chip one shoulder. Thankful for this opportunity because.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
You only get it once.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
And I just think one thing that my brother said.
He just told me like it never been easy.
Speaker 9 (28:23):
For you and your retire like watch it it be
easy out during the drive and it kind of put
me in a state of mind like Okay, you're right.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
But when I got a car, I was just like alright,
I was happy, Believe I didn't cry.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
I was just like, uh, thank you the call came in.
Speaker 7 (28:39):
But now that just put another chip on my shoulder
showing these guys like I'm steal you said, and watched
a lot of us highlights last year in those games.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
What relates to that to you when you watching those games?
Speaker 9 (28:51):
Uh? His ability to make guys miss, We talk about
it all the time, like what can you do on
this play to make this guy miss the next time?
Cause some DB's you got to sit on different moves
you'll make on him. Now it's like, alright, you really
a different level y'all.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
See how this guy's tackled him? Is he really scared
to come tack with you?
Speaker 7 (29:08):
Or he really can tackle me?
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Was he his and his ability?
Speaker 9 (29:12):
He's slippery, you don't go down, and I kind of
I'm kind of different ways I'm slippery, but I.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Go down to home like he's here.
Speaker 7 (29:21):
He don't let nobody gan him down. And it's kind
of like similar to me.
Speaker 9 (29:24):
And I just know that the his size and how
shifty he is at his size, and I'm saying kind
of way in my size, it's he just a lead together.
Speaker 7 (29:34):
So that's why I watch him the most. And then
plus he's at a higher up people level.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Than me when I was in college.
Speaker 7 (29:38):
For sure. I probably still watch him a little bit, probably.
Speaker 9 (29:41):
Go back and watch his working on again and then
Washington One versus the Panthers when he got hopped down
and he can try to see what he.
Speaker 6 (29:47):
Did stream of l It's your size and your ability
of just flippering this and make people miss and and
you know, lead to watch cause there's not many guys
in the league with that, without size and that ability, I.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Mean Tank Tankdale.
Speaker 9 (30:03):
I mean I'm pretty sure you see Tank Dale, you
look at him. He he'll make together crazy out here.
So I definitely watch Tank. I always say tired of
lockey because he go down on his own. Guess he
don't get here, So I kind of put those two
tied into my head. I watched Cooper Cup because he
was with me training the offseason past when I was
(30:23):
at Orion, so uh.
Speaker 7 (30:25):
Watching him old sorry about that note, but just watching
him when I.
Speaker 9 (30:29):
Was at Oregon and him just training me, it was
it was so real, especially cause he's a Super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (30:35):
He away like, why would you not listen to that? Guys?
Speaker 3 (30:38):
What aally like when he's your quarterback?
Speaker 7 (30:40):
Your quarterbacks kind of love Chip on the shoulder on
your size guy too.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Have you had a the chance to talk to Bake.
Speaker 7 (30:46):
And share a little bit with him? No, I haven't
talked to Bigger yet. Ready for that call, but I'm
pretty sure he'll reach out to me or and I
reach out to him.
Speaker 9 (30:54):
But whenever he gets in here, he just wanna let
him do his thing. I knew he has a little girl,
he has a feeling too attend to, so you know,
define necessarily.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
Want to mess with a merrit being his kids right now.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Especially when I'm at Rocky Mini Camp. But that time
will come.
Speaker 7 (31:07):
I'm not rushing anything.
Speaker 9 (31:10):
Just you life about this game, the fire and past
he played with, We kind of got that same thing. Uh,
you can just tell like like the Buccaneers like us
as a team, everyone play with that fire, that that
chip on his shoulder, even Hevin still.
Speaker 7 (31:25):
To this day playing with a chip on his shoulder
eleven consecutive seasons with a thousand yards Like you don't
get that too often.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
Baker Mayfield caring joy of jep uh Ulsa on his
shoulder throwing the ball still like that's the fire.
Speaker 7 (31:38):
He got a buckie coming in as a rookie rusher
for a thousand and showing people.
Speaker 9 (31:41):
That's why I like, this is what your missed out
'em like, It's it's so many guys that on this
team that plays with a.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
Chip, and I think quarterbacks just up there, especially when
you're friendly with 'em and know what they talking about.
You know, you don't wanna make his job more stressful
than what it is, cause he got the allest.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Job on the field.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
So you know, what do you think about his downfield
block for your buddy Bucky.
Speaker 9 (32:03):
I I see that multiple times, and when I see that,
I'm like, first of all, either he really fast and
Bucket really slow.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Or he just like that's just what he does.
Speaker 7 (32:13):
And I think it's just what he does. He probably
probably fixed you up both.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Bucky probably just a little slough than.
Speaker 7 (32:18):
Say Baker probably got some wheels. They've got them wheels
a little bit, and he just fired up. I love Baker.
Speaker 8 (32:23):
He asks pretty modest about his speed, but he's he's
known to head butt, uh some teammates.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
I don't know if that's something you wanted to participate at.
He's definitely done, but.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Uh some of that with with some bluntlment.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Yeah, yeah, but play crazy he's aggressive with it.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah, yeah, appreciate he is.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
He blocking like that.
Speaker 7 (32:38):
I see him take the smell sauce and stuff before
the game. Yeah you yeah, you wiring?
