in Barree, Ohio. This is Cleveland Browns Daily, presented by
Bally Bett, an official sports betting partner of your Cleveland Browns,
on eight p fifty ESPN Cleveland. He are your hosts,
Bo Bishop and Nathan Zegura.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Hey, we welcome you into the cross Country Mortgage Campus
in Berea. I'm Jason Gibbs Zigura. Not here yet. It's
all right. He's efforting. He's been in a million different places.
He's been hanging out with big al luminaries. He will
join us momentarily and we will get his reaction to
the Browns News of the Day. It is the Topics
(01:00):
of the Day, presented by University Hospitals, the official healthcare
partner of your Cleveland Browns, and the News of the Day.
The Browns have terminated the contract of defensive end Obo
Okoronquo and signed kicker Andre Schmidt. I'm gonna go with that, Schmitt. Schmidt,
say it confidently, Schmidt. Yeah, there we go. Okoronquo joined
(01:25):
the Browns as an unrestricted free agent in twenty twenty three.
He played in thirty games the past two seasons. Recording
fifty two tackles, seven and a half sacks, one forced fumble,
one fumble recovery. He's probably one of the most fun
people that I've met on this beat and covering this
football team over the last three or four years. Just
(01:48):
a great spirit, happy, go lucky. He will definitely be missed,
especially in that defensive line room. But obo Okoronquo his
contract terminated by the Browns and kicker Andre Schmidt will
join the team here as we get ready for training camp.
(02:08):
Might read something into that as well. Nathan Siggar will
break it all down for you coming up in just
a few minutes. The nb A draft last night night
one brock your biggest takeaway, buddy, because you watched it.
I watched from like ten o'clock on.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
I think the first two picks where you knew what
they were gonna be. You knew Cooper Flag obviously was
number one, Harper at number two, and then after that
got shooken up a little bit. Con Kinnupple went number four.
Your your boy from Duke. Maybe a little high for him,
I thought so.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I don't know, maybe the NBA draft didn't offer a
whole lot where am I looking. What do you doing?
Don't switch cameras, Geez Jordan, what are you doing? I
didn't think Canipple was the fourth best player in the
coming out, but I think he's going to be a really,
really good NBA player. But I don't know.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, but three Blue Devils in the top ten. You
got to be happy about that.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
I'm happy about it. I wish one or two of
them would have come back, but it's his life in
the NBA. So, uh, it's now a two night event. Uh, Brock,
will you be watching tonight?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I'm just gonna watch the Cavs picks, see what we
do with our two picks in the second round.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
We do have two picks, pick number forty nine and
pick number fifty eight. So best wishes to our friends
over at at the Cavaliers. We'll see what happens. Maybe
they make a trade, maybe they spice things up a
little bit. We'll see. It is a mail bag Thursday
edition of the program, as it is every Thursday. We'll
(03:43):
get to your questions sometime after two thirty today. Coming
up on the program today you will hear from running
back coach Deuce Staley, Nathan and I also going to
break down that running back room. I've got some big,
hard hitting questions for Zee huge some people are saying,
and we'll talk to We'll actually go through PFF's best
(04:04):
thirty two running backs. We'll see if Zigura can guess those.
And there's a Cleveland Brown in the top thirty two
running backs. Not too shabby around the sports world comes
your way. In segment three to kick off the two
o'clock hour, our good friend Lance Riesland, Brown's filmanalyst for
Cleveland dot com current football analyst for Spectrum, joins the
(04:25):
show via the Twisted Tea Hard Iced Tea Hotline. He's
put out a lot of good film breakdowns on our
rookie class. He's also been out at mini camp. He's
been here for the OTAs, has watched this football team.
We've had him on before. Great guest, former high school
coach at the Garfield Heights on the offensive side. His
(04:47):
father a legendary coach at Garfield Heights and appeared on
my high school football shows on Saturday mornings. Was kind
enough to do that. Excited to have him on to
break down the Browns offseason and to promote some of
his video breakdowns of the Browns rookie class. That'll be
at two o'clock today. Then we talk linebackers. We went
(05:09):
running backs in hour one, we go to the defensive
side in our two linebacker JS linebacker coach Jason Tarvar.
You will hear from him, always good. When we get
to hear from Tarvs, we'll break down the linebacker room,
some big questions, hard hitting questions for z on that
linebacker room, and of course the PFF Top thirty two linebackers,
(05:32):
and of course to round out the show today the
mail bag. Tweet us your questions at Brown's Underscore Daily
and also send us your questions on our YouTube channel
YouTube dot com slash Browns. You can check that out
all day long on the stream, ESPN Cleveland, the Brownsmobile app,
(05:53):
Cleveland Browns dot Com. Plenty of ways to listen and
to watch today's program. We're gonna take a quick time.
When we come back, we'll get into the running back
room and the news of the day. Nathan will break
it down. He will be here to join us momentarily.

(07:33):
the new players in the building to the rookie class,
to complete breakdowns of our draft, our returning players that

and a little fun as well from on the final day,
(07:55):
which is July eleventh. So we're excited to bring all
that to you, excited to get some time as well.
We have to celebrate Segar his birthday. He'll join us
here momentarily. He's running all over the place. So we
got a lot going on here today at the Cross
Country Mortgage Campus. Again the news of the day, and
we will get to more of this with Nathan as
(08:15):
we go. The Browns have terminated the contract of defensive
end Oba Ocoronquo and sign kicker Andre Schmidt. Ocaronquo joins
join the Browns in twenty twenty three thirty games, fifty
two tackles, seven and a half sacks, one forced fumble,
and one fumble recovery. We'll get to more on that
news with Nathan coming up here in just a few minutes.
(08:35):
Right now, time to hear from our running back coach,
always entertaining his room will be the must see room
when they go to position drills during training camp. My
biggest recommendation, find Duce Staley, find his running backs and
enjoy Here's Duce Staley at the podium presented by Vivid Seats.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
So what are your impressions of Quinn Shawn here? Early?
Been doing good job?
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Uh, been putting in the time, been asking all the
good questions, staying after meetings, going over film, been doing
a good job.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
How would you compare just out to play on the
running backs.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
And like go over one day.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Well, we're out here in pajamas right now. When we
put on some armor, I'll let you know.
Speaker 7 (09:19):
How about dealing old when his PRIs to val great?
Speaker 6 (09:22):
Geting to see Scott.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Yeah, another young player who's been doing an awesome job.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Uh. It all starts in the building first, having good
meetings with him and being able to show him as
a running back and a receiver. Also meeting with CEO,
going in there and going over some of the receiver
splits and routes, and just being able to just take
his game and expand it.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
He's been awesome, Dizah obviously.
Speaker 8 (09:44):
Nick Chubb, Yeah, officially leaving going to Houston.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
Just uh, I mean, what are your thoughts on Nick
and in the time that you got to spend with him.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Yeah, I'm just gonna echo what everybody else has said.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
I love Nick, you know, and Uh, of course I'm
upset because I didn't get a chance.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
To spend a lot of time with him, having one year.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
But every day, you know, was a great day with
NICKI and he's gonna bring a lot of excitement to
that organization, a lot of leadership. And we all know
who Nick is, so I wish him the best and
I love him.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Why why do you think? Why do you think guys.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Loved him so much?
Speaker 10 (10:13):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (10:13):
It's easy. He worked his ass off. For one, he
left everything on the field, and when he went out
there on Sunday, he just transformed into a a different guy.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Do you see?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (10:22):
The cutting ability of Quinn Sean is obviously you can
see it on film at Ohio State and just watching
some of the drills, you have him, you know, going
through here right now even though there, as you said,
in pajamas. But just how as his position coach, how
excited do you get with maybe his potential?
Speaker 4 (10:41):
I'm very excited. I mean every day. Uh.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
As a skill group, we work on quick feed, so
that's one of our things, and no matter what the
drill is, we're gonna work on bending bursts and being
able to get out of breaks and being able to
plant that foot and go north. So and that's what
you'll see out of my drills. And he's able to
come in and straight from college and he you know,
some of the drills already and he's been able to
do well.
Speaker 8 (11:03):
So just when you look at Q and Dylan at
how similar or different are they when you talk about
skill sets and you know, I think you people want
to go like thunder lightning around, but do they?
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Are they more similar than different? Now? They're different? Yeah,
two different guys.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
I mean Dylan is able to go play in the
slot and also he's able to go and play on
third down and maybe sprinkling their little second down. I'm
not saying Q can't play on third down, but I'm
just looking at what we can do with Dylan as
far as a receiver uh and we'll be able to
do a little something with uh Q receiver too, but
totally different.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
So don't think about it.
Speaker 11 (11:35):
Like that for you as what does it look like
for you as a coach trying to figure out where
they fit best and how they vibe together as you're
looking to create some kind of pandemic.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
That's a great problem to have, a great problem to have.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
You know when you got guys like that, and let's
not forget about your own and Pierre, those guys bring
a lot of value too. So being able to take
those guys, all four of those guys and kind of
moving around like chess pieces, it's been fun.
Speaker 7 (12:00):
I get a regular, you can wind the under and
you know, pushing Dylon's buns a little bit with them
and want s friends you on.
Speaker 9 (12:06):
The kind of trying to get them to sort of
prison from the hunter.
Speaker 10 (12:08):
It just what's that been like seeing them sort.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Of form like a relationship. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
One of the things that, uh, I'm make sure they
understand is every time they step on the grass, its own.
Every time you bucket it up its own, every time
you lay your shoes up, its own, no matter.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Who it is.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
And we take pride in being the best group on
this field. But to be the best group, you must
win within the group in order for you.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
To be the best in the league.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
So we got a lot of goals there, of course,
and it starts with our group and how we look
at each other and challenge each other.
Speaker 8 (12:37):
Yeah, he said, don't forget about Jerome's here. Where do
you think particular Jerome fits with he's you.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
He's fitting in great without a doubt. I mean, Jerome
has definitely a great skill set. Of course, you know
about the speed he's able to pick up the blitz
and catch the ball. So I'm excited to see Perp
has been working his ass off, came back in great shape.
So I'm excited to see all four of 'em go
at it.
Speaker 9 (13:00):
Jerome is kind of the older States boarders group now,
so I would you kind of taking on maybe.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
Being like a leader in some special abilities and you yeah,
Jerome is, Uh, he has a little nick in until
he goes out there and he leaves by example. Uh,
he'll say a little bit here, say a little bit there,
but not a lot. He let his action.
Speaker 11 (13:16):
Shows here and be wrong. They been here two new rookies.
Is there any part of this process that is pretty
recreating the identity or or finding a new identity.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
With the city assets of just motivation? You know, as
a older player, I've been in those shoes. Of course,
as a older player, you see the young players come
in and you see how their skill set and how
they would help us, But you also wanna challenge them
and let them know. Okay, man, I have the same
skill set and I'm able to go out there and
help our team.
Speaker 10 (13:45):
To J just k.
Speaker 9 (13:47):
Kevin has talked about a more physical camp, maybe a
more competitive training camp.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
When when you hear that, does they get you excited?
He ain't, no doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
I mean we got blessed pick up every day hopefully
thing scross.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
What do you as a try.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
And re established it? I guess what excites you?
Speaker 7 (14:03):
Just help this for what he wanted to do in
that and he needs to.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
Yeah, and Kevin has done a good job, man. He
all off season we talked about, of course what you
just said, just rebuilding the run game, going back to
day one when Kevin got here, going back.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
To when he was in Minnesota running wisez on.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
You know, that's one of our staples and that's what
we're going to stick to and we have the backs
for that.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
All right, We're back, Hi and sore So Mike give
me still here. I'm back. Was down actually at the
at Huntington bank Field. Yeah, you've been all over the
university hospitals. They had it's called sports Land. It's about
sports innovation and sports science and all the Luminarias were there.
The great doctor vouss my pt extraordinaire Brent Pacarski or
(14:50):
a wonderful Lisa Piazza talking from the Haslin Sports Innovation Center.
So we did like a little panel, and then it
was really cool. They kind of had like a shark
tank and they had the three companies like startup companies.
One was around uh hydration and it was like it
was very cool wearable technology that could tell you like
if you're hydrated, dehydrated and anticipate that and tell you like, okay,
(15:13):
you need to drink this much water now and interesting
keep you hydrated, which obviously has lots of I think
sports benefits and overall health benefits. Another one was something
that it's an insole in your foot that gives all
this information about your gate and that tells you a
lot about your health and how you're moving and for
athletes like if you're training too hard, your gate changes.
(15:35):
If you're on the verge of injury, apparently your gate changes.
So that was pretty cool. And then the last one
was a company that has made these unbelievable kind of
materials that make like the best shoelaces ever that never
come untied and provide more stability depending on that and
they have this technology goes so it was like, really cool.
I'm curious to find out three twenty five dollar an
ounce who like won. So they did pitches and they
(15:56):
were like these esteemed panel of people who were big,
big luminaries that were asking you know, questions afterwards to
see if they you know, wanted to I guess be
investors or you know what would win. But I'm actually curious.
They were all pretty it was pretty cool, pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Wow yeah all right, all right, so maybe something we'll
see on the field maybe, Yeah, this fall.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
I know, the Shoelace company and the and the Insol company,
they were already partnered with various like pro and college
sports teams with some of their stuff. So yeah, maybe
it's something that you'll see on the Cleveland Browns before
before long. So yeah, that's where I was sorry for
being late. I apologize us all good.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
I said, you had you had obligations, big luminaries, the
biggest of the luminary.
Speaker 6 (16:43):
You know, there were some There were some heavy hitters there,
no doubt, but it was yeah, so it was very cool,
cool thing to be there. At least Piazza is great
and it was just a very cool event. Apparently like
the events grown by four hundred percent from year one
to year two, or a ton of people there. It
was pretty cool. I saw Bernie but didn't get to
say hi to him.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Nice.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
He was constantly surrounded by a lot of people. I
was gonna say, he's a popular human, Yeah, the great Bernard.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
He is popular. He is.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Hopefully we'll see more.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
I think that there's a possibility maybe maybe.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
All Right, so what's going on?
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Give so we're talking, we're talking running back room. You
just heard from Deuce Staley. Yeah, always entertaining. Yeah. In
the Browns current running back room Jerome Ford, Quinshawn Judkins,
Dylan Sampson, Pierre Strung, Junior Amani Marshall and a fullback
Troy Hairston your takeaways, your thoughts on the Browns twenty
(17:37):
twenty five running back room. I love it's different than
the past year.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
Yeah, but I love this room. I think this rule.
It's a it's a remade room. And I think, you know,
quin Shawn Judkins is and has an opportunity to be
you know, kind of what or they hope, you know,
can be some high percentage of you know. Unfortunately, the
guy that I'm looking at right now, who is no
air Cleland Brown, Nick Chubb. I mean, I think that's
(18:01):
why Quinjohn Judkins was drafted to be to be kind
of that one, a bell cow back guy who is
incredibly productive in college, not only at Ole Miss, but
at Ohio State. We're talking bell cow type of a guy.
Took over to Urn in seventy carries his first two
years there. He's a touchdown machine. He's averaged fifteen rushing
(18:22):
touchdowns per year in the whether it's sixteen and fifteen
Old Miss, fourteen last year with the Buckeyes. He can
catch it a little bit as well. He's somebody that
I think is going to be like, you know, he
can do that. You know, he can be kind of
that guy for you. And so they get him thrilled
with that, and then the Browns were stunned, floored that
(18:44):
the SEC Offensive Player of the Year Dylan Samson was
still there in the fourth round. Only been a one
year star. So in terms of like tread on the tires,
like Judkins has been a bell cow kind of three years.
Although you know last year he split the touches with
Trevion in with the Ohio State. But this was the
first year, is like a real started. This is a
guy who averaged five point nine yards per carry for
his career in the SEC. That's over four hundred and
(19:05):
twenty two carries, So it's not like a one season fluke.
He averaged almost six yards of carry two hundred and
fifty eight carries fourteen hundred and ninety one yards, both
led the SEC five point eight yards of carry, twenty
two touchdowns, added another twenty catches for one hundred and
forty three yards. But he's electric home run hitter. And
so I think the Browns have you know that kind
of one two combo that you're looking for in that
(19:28):
running back room. And you've heard it from Deuce just there.
We've heard it from Kevin Stefanski. I got to I
was very lucky right after Luca was born. I didn't
say I think he was three days old when I
did the Keepers Foundation outing for a coach out there
and we did a panel that was at one point
it was me, coach quin Seawan and Dylan, and you
(19:51):
know he's already he was saying, look, we're gonna run
the wall. These guys are gonna run the wall. We're
gonna run it. We're gonna run it. We're gonna run it.
And right he asked if they had a nickname yet
for the two of them, and I liked what Dylan
Sam say. He said, no, we got to earn that.
That's got to be like bestowed upon us, because we've
earned it. He's like, we got ideas, don't get it wrong,
but we've got to earn it. And so I'm very
excited about the Browns backfield and running back game. And
(20:15):
I would be remiss, obviously if I don't mention Jerome Ford,
because Jerome Ford is coming off of Maybe not from
an overall numbers perspective because two years ago he had
eleven and three two yards and nine touchdowns, but you
want to talk from an efficiency perspective, Jerme Ford's coming
off the best season of his career forty seven percent
success rate, five point four yards per carry, gave you
(20:37):
some of her ninety yards three touchdowns. He had one
of the biggest breakaway rates in the National Football League.
He's got four runs over sixty yards in the last
two years alone. He's got that big playability. And I
think this is a guy who's caught, you know, eighty
one passes the last two seasons. I think he's your
third down back day one. Now, I think he's gonna
(20:58):
be a part of your running attack as well. But
I think you're looking at this is gonna be three
running backs in there, Ford, Judkins, and Samson, Pierre Strong.
You know, I've been a big Pierre Strong guy. But
you know at this point he's going to have to
really wow, I think to get opportunities, a lot of speed.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
He's a five.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
Yards for his career, five yards prepared for his career
in the NFL. I mean that's nothing to sneeze at.
But I really like this room. I like the coach,
I like the room, I like all of it. I
think quin Shawn is going to be special. I think
Samson is going to be special. And he got Jerome
Ford there is very good. And then the other part
of it, it's in that room, is Troy Harston. You know,
(21:36):
back at the beginning when Kevin Stefanski came in, he
brought in and the Browns actually paid a pretty decent,
I think, a pretty decent contract for Andy Janovich who
came in for those two years and was you know,
in twenty and twenty one was the fullback for the
Cleveland Browns. From a stat standpoint, not a whole lot, right.
I think he had seven touches, four touches actually in
(21:59):
twenty twenty and five touches in twenty twenty one, so
it's not like they were giving him the ball. Though
he did score a touchdown in twenty one on a
receiving I'm pretty sure he was in the game against Denver.
May'd been from case Keenum if I'm not mistakeing.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I believe you have that.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
But getting Troy Harston in here, that's a fullback, that
is a real full back, and that tells you again
a little bit about what we're gonna do. And so
I think you're gonna see more two running back sets
from the Cleveland Browns. And sometimes it's gonna be Harson,
who's five eleven, two forty five and just an absolute tank.
And sometimes it's gonna be you know, Judkins and Samson
(22:33):
or Ford. I think altogether, Yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Yeah, I mean going back to Ford, here's a guy
that has rushed for close to fourteen hundred yards and
seven touchdowns in his career. You mentioned eighty one catchers,
five hundred and forty five yards five touchdowns in his career.
Also been a weapon on kickoffs. Yeah, I mean over
a thousand yards in a kickoff yard. I mean he
he's done a nice job.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
He's a very solid player.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Yeahr Software, it's a perfect compliment to the two young guys.
Speaker 6 (23:03):
I really think if if going into this draft, I
think the Browns probably thought they were gonna come out
of there with once they made the trade. You know,
Judkins or Travion will call it at that point, right,
I think you're gonna you thought you were gonna get them,
and maybe it was gonna be you know, perhaps Nick
would have been back in that scenario. But I think
(23:24):
once you drafted too, then you knew all of a sudden,
hey we're in a pretty good spot here. We're pretty
We've got now Dylan Samson and Judkins. I just don't
think they thought that Samson would be there, just like
they don't. I don't think they thought, you know, Shador
is gonna be there. And that's why Joe Flacco was
signed right before. Sure, I really like where, like I said,
(23:45):
where this team is at what I think that they
are certainly capable of doing running the football. I think
we're gonna run it. And I don't think you know
you're looking at the let's look, let me look at
what the Browns rushing totals have been the last few years.
I think this is a team that's gonna be close
to eighteen hundred, maybe even more yards rushing when it's
all said and done this season. I think it's I
(24:07):
think they're going to I think the only theme that
would limit this team from being, you know, way high
on the upside in terms of rushing. So last year,
the Browns rushed for sixteen hundred yards. In twenty twenty three,
they ran for two thousand and seventeen yards, and that
was without that was without Nick Chubb for the majority
(24:30):
of that season. Right twenty twenty two, they ran for
twenty four hundred and ninety yards. Twenty twenty one, the
Cleveland Browns ran for twenty four hundred and seventy one yards.
Now this is gonna be a two thousand yard rushing team.
I'm gonna even go back to two thousand, right, twenty three,
seventy four.
Speaker 10 (24:49):
I don't think it is that.
Speaker 6 (24:50):
I really, as long as we can be competitive in games,
I think that you're going to rush for Yeah, we
rushed for sixteen hundred last year. Our average when we
were going and good Understan Fancy is about twenty four hundred.
But that's with Nick Chubb. So I think, like I
think we're gonna be some more twenty to twenty two hundred.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Have an offensive line that loves loves it. Yes, most
offensive lines do, but this one excels when you're running.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
I really think we're gonna be between twenty twenty two
hundred the yards rushing this year that we are gonna be.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
All right, I'm in, I'm all on board.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
Yeah, we're gonna be running that football. We're gonna be
We're gonna be ready to go.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Three big questions hard hitting media journalism here. I like
it regarding the Brons running back room. Number one, The
biggest question you have about this room just.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
What it's gonna look like like, And not in terms
of the personnel, but what are the what are the
splits gonna look like? What is the splits gonna look like?
Is is it gonna be Judkins?
Speaker 4 (25:43):
You know?
Speaker 6 (25:43):
Is he sixty percent? Is Samson twenty percent? Then four
to twenty percent? Is it Judkins fifty and Ford thirty
and Samson twenty this year, what's that workload split gonna
look like?
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Gotcha?
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (25:55):
You just answered question number two because that was about.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
Beause I don't know the answer.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
Yeah. Uh number three. Can Pierre Strong have a role
in this room.
Speaker 6 (26:06):
If everybody's healthy? I think that would be very difficult.
I'd think it would be very difficult if everybody's healthy. Yeah,
we just don't have you. We're not carrying four tailbacks.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
No, There's just not enough room on the roster to
do it. So I think that'd be very difficult. I
think obviously with an injury. Sure, and I like Pier.
I like Pierre a lot. I've always liked them. But
I think it could be tough. So Pro Football focus
back to them. Top thirty two running backs ahead of
the twenty twenty five season. There's a Cleveland Brown that
makes the list. His name Quinn Sean Judkins.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Like Judkins just a rookie, which always makes it tricky
to place the player appropriately ahead of a season. He
will likely be RB one in Cleveland after earning PFF
rushing grades of eighty eight point two, eighty three point four,
and eighty eight point eight in his three seasons of
college football. All Right, I know you just sat down.
(26:59):
I got it.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Anything going on? How you feeling? Can we do the
top ten?
Speaker 6 (27:04):
Yeah? Good, I'm already working on all right, all right.
Saquon Barkley comes in at number two. Number two, Okay,
number two.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Barkley a big reason why Philly are the reigning super
I don't really know the answer that most runs of
ten yards or more fifty five also led the NFL
with twenty five hundred rushing yards. I don't know what
else you'd like him to do, but he's not number
one on their list.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
B Jeon Robinson.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
He is number three on the list from the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 6 (27:39):
Jamiir Gibbs.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
He's number four on the list from the Detroit Football Lions. Okay,
Christian McCaffrey number seven on the list, Number seven, Christian McCaffrey.
Derrick Henry, Ladies and Gentlemen, number number one running back. Wow,
(28:02):
even at thirty one years old. King Henry, deserving of
this list's number one spot, led the NFL in PFF
rushing grades in twenty twenty four. Ninety three point five
also boasts the highest PFF rushing grade in a three
year sample size going back to twenty twenty two. Last season,
he forced the most mistackles and ripped the second most
runs of ten yards or more fifty three to say,
(28:24):
quant's fifty five. Okay, maybe this year will be the
year that he finally slows down, because we've been saying
it for four years, five years something like that.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
All right, if he's not on the list, it's a
mistake because he is that good. Chase Brown.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
He's twenty five. What that's right, He's twenty five. Brown
earned a seventy three point eight PFF rushing grade and
a seventy six point six PFF receiving grade last year
to give him three down value for the Bengals, helped
him produce the sixteenth highest PFF war mark among running
(29:08):
backs in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
Chase Brown last year English people nine hundred ninety yards rushing,
seven touchdowns, rushing, three hundred and sixty yards four touchdowns receiving,
and at the end of the year he was like
one hundred plus total yards every week. Okay, all right,
so i'll cruss him off. First one you missed though,
Kyrone Williams.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
He is number ten only missed one so far?
Speaker 6 (29:32):
Okay. Josh Jacobs.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Josh Jacobs is definitely on this list. Where is he
at number five on this list?
Speaker 4 (29:39):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Seven of your first eight? Correct? James Cook number twelve?
What outside? James Cook recorded twenty six runs of ten
ten yards or more, good for fourteenth most in the NFL.
More than twelve hundred yards rushing on the season.
Speaker 6 (30:03):
Yeah, did he have?
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Like?
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Pretty good? Pretty good?
Speaker 6 (30:06):
He had a lot of touchdowns too, Yeah, James Cook
last year had one thousand yards and led the NFL
with sixteen rushing touchdowns, and he averaged five yards of carry.
What are we talking about?
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Not in the top ten according to pff A, right,
number twelve.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
Aaron Jones.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Let see nineteen nineteen. Not on the list. You're missing
number one, five, number six, number eight, number nine, You're
missing four? Wait now you're missing three.
Speaker 6 (30:43):
Jonathan Taylor? Uh not not fourteen?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Wow?
Speaker 6 (30:53):
Okay, so he's fourteenth. I must be I'm trying to
think I must be missing somebody. Pretty obvious. I would
bet they have Joe Mixon alfter did last year on there.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
No, not, he's seventeen. You're missing three. I don't know
how to count number six, number eight, number nine, Devin
h Chan number nine on the list from the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Pacheco, No, no, this is a weird list there. I
think they're they're going way down in my mind in
terms of guys that they're gonna give.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Both number six and number eight are NFC running backs.
Speaker 6 (31:38):
Kamara no, Chuba Hubbard no. James Connor.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
James Connor of the Arizona Cardinals is.
Speaker 6 (31:49):
Number eight, and then Bucky Irving.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Number six from Tampa Bay.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
That is crazy. This list is nuts.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Kenneth Walker is number eleven, Cook is twelve, Ashton Genty
is thirteen.
Speaker 6 (32:02):
Ashton genty he hasn't even played yet. Hold on a second.
Kyn Williams is Kyraen Williams is the most I thought
they would love it. His most efficient like goal line
back in the league.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
His rushing grade wasn't all that impressive, but he rushed
for more than fourteen hundred yards.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
Kyon Williams went for thirteen hundred yards and fourteen touchdowns
last year.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yeah, and he earned a PFF pass blocking rate above eighty.
Speaker 6 (32:29):
He hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on one second.
This is amazing. What remind me again, what rink was
Kyen Williams overall number ten. Okay, Kyron Williams finished last
year eleventh in the AP Offensive Player of the Year voting.
That's also quarterbacks, receivers, all of it. Yeah, every position.
That's craziness. There you go so interesting. Yeah, I'm surprised.
(32:54):
I thought Aaron Jones had a pretty solid season last year.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Aaron Jones is nineteenth. He did have a good year.
Speaker 6 (33:01):
Aaron Jones had eleven hundred and thirty eight yards, five
touchdowns and four hundred and eight yards. He had fifteen
hundred and forty six yards from scrimmage in some touchdowns.
That's not that's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Yeah. Camarrow was number twenty.
Speaker 6 (33:14):
Kamar had had a he had it down here, but
Mixing didn't mixin have a good year. I was trying
to go through him my head. I figured they would
love eighty seven point six rushing grade for mixing. Yeah, hey,
one thousand, sixteen yards, eleven touchdowns. Part of it had
gets skewed by fantasy I think we're like thinking, you know,
who were like the most productive fantasy backs. Bucky Irving
(33:34):
obviously was an interesting case study because he had a
really productive year, but they also had Rashad White there.
They had a few guys there. He ran for eleven
twenty two and eight touchdowns, So we had fifteen hundred
and fourteen yards and eight touchdowns and he's six. And
we had said Aaron Jones was like basically at the
same level. James Cook one is the one that really
surprises me. That one really surprises me.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
The final two in their top thirty two Brian Robinson
from the Common Yeah, and Travis at ten from Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
At ten was it looked like he was on a
more of a trajectory before last year and then they
got Bigsby. It's interesting, gent I think I think by
this time next year, when we redo this next year,
Genti'll be in the top five for sure.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
That's what part guy is as well. Yeah, quinch On,
that'd be great, that'd be fantastic. That would be great.
That's a look at the running backroom for Cleveland Brown.
Speaker 6 (34:27):
Yeah. Those two sailors presented by Vivid Seats. Purchase your
official fan Experience peaks today for the Ultimate Game Day.
And did we do hot topics as well?
Speaker 2 (34:35):
We'll do that next I will do our.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
Hot topics of the day coming up next, We're often
rolling here. Cleveand Brown's Daily presented by bally Bet, official
sports betting partner of your Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Cleveland Browns Daily presented by bally Bet, an official sports
betting partner of your Cleveland Browns. On eight fifty ESP
and Cleveland.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
Welcome Back to Cleveland Browns Daily, presented by bally Bett,
an official sports betting partner of your Cleveland Browns. And
It's girly great, give me all right, Gibbe. Hot Topics
of the Day presented by University Hospitals, the official healthcare
partner of your Cleveland Browns. I know you touched on
this earlier, but the Browns made had a transaction today.
It's the Cleveland Browns waived obo okoronquo, which was I
(35:38):
think a little bit of a surprise, But at the
same time, when you looked at some of the moves
that were made this offseason and you knew the contract status,
probably not as much of a surprise. Signed a big
three year, nineteen million dollar deal headed into the twenty
three season. Uh He started five games for the Browns
over the last two years, seven and a half sacks,
seventeen tackles, for loss. He had career high twelve tackles
(36:00):
for US that first season twenty twenty three. Last year
just three sacks, five tackles for US. If you look
at the roster and you look at what the Browns
have done in that room this offseason and the way
that Isaiah McGuire performed last year, you could see that
(36:22):
perhaps we said there were too many guys for that room.
You knew it was gonna be Miles Garrett, you knew
Alex Wright was going to be there. You knew that
Isaiah McGuire was going to be there.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Troy and Tchoyanne, you.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Bring in a former first rounder, and Joe Tryon, Tryenka,
Julian Aquara, they signed as well, they liked and then
Cam Thomas number ninet nine, played really well for the
Cleveland Browns last year. So that's six guys and you
had Obo and there there was seven. And I think
for Obo, who again great guy. Loved interviewing him, YE
(36:58):
liked being around him. I think he was very well
liked and respecting locker room. And I'll go back to
the twenty twenty three season. He suffered a pretty significant
peck injury at the end of the year and played
through it and he will certainly have my respect for that.
And he was just always great talk to, very good guy,
(37:20):
and certainly he will be missed. And I think this
just comes down to for the Cleveland Browns, it came
down to dollars and cents and that it is. That's
kind of the lead at some league at some point.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Right.
Speaker 6 (37:31):
It's a little bit of a business, is that with
Obo Kuranquo cutting him as the Browns did not with
a post June first designation, but legitimately post June first,
they're gonna save, you know, a bunch of money against
the salary cap. And so that's why I think that
they that's why they did it. Obo at this point
didn't have guaranteed money left and so they were able
(37:53):
to cut him as a late cut candidate who's had
a bonus that was going to be due i think
at the end of August. So they're going to save
three point three more million dollars against the cap. And unfortunately,
I think it's literally just that it was that simple
with him.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Yeah, it sucks, great guy, great locker room guy. Yeah,
and I think you need well liked, As you mentioned,
dollars and cents. You're paying a lot, You're paying a
certain percentage of the guys on this football team a
lot of money. Yeah, and so you've got to make
some tough decisions with the rest of the roster to
make sure that you're you know that you have set
(38:31):
yourself up to make sure that you have salary cap
space for the entire season.
Speaker 6 (38:37):
So the way that his contract was structured, it's actually
gonna save the Browns three point three million on the
salary cap this year and five point four million on
the salary cap next year. So because they have those
void years at the end of their contract to space
things out. So it's actually going to save the Browns
ultimately over the course of the next two seasons about
eight point eight million dollars. So that's that's why it happened.
(39:00):
That's it. That's why. That's why.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
What do you make of Andre Schmidt coming back?
Speaker 6 (39:05):
Uh, I'm a little surprised, to be honest, when the
Browns let him go the first time, because he was
let go I want to say, not that long ago.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Right at the beginning of Mini camp.
Speaker 6 (39:21):
I think, so he was one of the two they
the Browns waived him on June fourth right before Mini
camp and then re signed him back. So that surprises me.
I think it would be natural. There are two ways
to look at it. Number One, they just wanted to
have another camp leg for you know, so the Dustin
(39:44):
Hopkins hasn't taken every single rep and I think that's
why he was here. And then the other way you
could look at it is coming off of, you know,
last year in which Dustin Hopkins struggled for the first
time in a long time. I mean, he was ninety
one point seven percent the year before that, ninety percent
the year before that, eighty eight point two. You know,
he had a three year run where he was a
ninety percent kicker in this league. Last year he was
just sixty six point seven, the lowest figure of his career,
(40:06):
never been below seventy nine point four percent and had
been in the eighties for the majority of his career.
He had a rough season last year, and so I
think that, you know, you could look at it as
is this insurance did something happened in Mini camp Again,
I wasn't here. I don't know how much kicking there
would be, But my guess is it's more the former.
You're just getting a camp lag in here having somebody
(40:26):
that can share some of those duties with the hop.
But still it's one that at least makes you go hmmm.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Yeah, because you I mean, you've got ninety spots right,
and this is the time of year where you're kind
of going through everything with a fine tooth comb post
mini camp, yep, is there what other positions might I
need to address? Where else can I improve this team
prior to training camp starting in.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
A few weeks.
Speaker 6 (40:53):
Yeah, and then you bring a kicker in so I
don't know, just a little bit a little interesting there.
We are doing mailbag Thursday. I'm excited about this, So
get your questions in to Brown's Daily on Accent on
the YouTube stream. We'll pull questions from there as well.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Absolutely from Adam Schefter and I had this in our
around the sports world. There was a vote today down
in Hamilton County. I call it Northern Kentucky, they call
it Cincinnati. They've agreed to a new deal to modernize
pay Corpse Stadium and keep the Bengals in downtown Cincinnati
through June of twenty thirty six.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (41:32):
So, and that my guess is at that point they
will be looking for a new stadium. And speaking of
everything approved modell language changed by the state government and
the Browns, it looks like we are full speed ahead
to brook Park, which is fantastic.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Yeah. I think we're just waiting on the governor to
sign off on the budget YEF. I'm correct, Yeah, so
you know, and he's got to do that by midnight
on Monday the thirtieth, so you know, at some point
that will hopefully get done and sooner rather than later
and we can move on with our summer vacation.
Speaker 6 (42:08):
Yeah, and we can, you know, hopefully get if you
think about the timeline, like you're probably gonna break ground
this year rather than later later this year and really
start really rolling early twenty.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Six because when did they break ground in Buffalo? I
drove by it, by the way. How's it look? It's
pretty impressive.
Speaker 6 (42:31):
How long did it takes start to finish? And they're
not no camera, no, they and they have that cool
camera and they're building a stadium in Tennessee I think so. Yeah,
when I was in Nashville, they were building it.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
So they broke round in June fifth of twenty twenty three.
So it's been two years and a month or give
or take two and a half two years and half
a month, and it's not slided open until next year.
So so I mean that's that's three years.
Speaker 6 (43:04):
No, that's about three year. So the Tennessee Titans broke
ground on their new Nissan Stadium February twenty ninth, twenty
twenty four. Next it's right next to the existing stadium.
It's actually pretty cool, and that is expected to be
a go for the twenty twenty seven season. So that's
that's kind.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
Of the Uh yeah, you you need three and a
half years. Yeah, so if the Brown's in twenty twenty nine.
Speaker 6 (43:28):
The twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
You'll be right now then, yeah, exactly. So, uh, something
that obviously bears watching. By the way, I never had
a problem with Nashville Stadium. I always thought it was
a good stadium.
Speaker 6 (43:43):
I think it was fine. Not My guess is it
was missing a lot of the amenities that they need
for you know, modern stadiums in terms of all the
different suites and.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
Well Inshville's become like Vegas. Yeah, so from attracting conventions
and you know, those kind of major events and not
having a dome, I mean, giving having a dome now
helps that.
Speaker 6 (44:14):
It helps everything. It helps everything, and I think that
I'm really excited about where this is going to go.
I think it's great that the state came together, they
were able to do it, and that now you have
an opportunity to really, you know, turn this into a
world class facility for world class fans. And I think
(44:36):
that's really the bottom line. That's what it's to me,
that's what it's all about. And this is going to
be a transformative thing for this region. It's going to
be transformative for Cuyahoga County, which Brook Park happens to
be still. Last I looked, Yeah, so it's going to
be I think it's it's very exciting. This is a
very exciting if you are a Cleveland Browns fan, if
you're a fan of northeast Ohio, if you want to
(44:58):
see this region you know have something special.
Speaker 4 (45:02):
You know.
Speaker 6 (45:03):
One thing I was thinking about the other day is,
you know, I don't know how you are when you're
on planes, but I'm always looking for two things when
I come into a city when I'm on a plane.
Golf courses, especially if I kind of like know the
area and I know like which courses are where? Sure,
and then stadiums, and I think it's very cool. When
you find to Dallas, you typically go right over.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
At and T. It's the it's the one city. My
buddies were asking me last night, they go, where haven't
you been? I said, Dallas, we've met. We were supposed
to go during COVID. COVID, Yeah, and I think there.
Speaker 6 (45:33):
Was one twenty twelve the year before you than twenty twenty,
and it'll be twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
Yeah, see, only one. I mean I've been to cities
that no longer even have teams. Yeah, Oakland, Saint Louis, Yeah,
the old Atlanta. Uh what was that dome that was
a dump, the Georgia Dome, Yeah dump. I was just
alls old, the Georgia dumb dump.
Speaker 6 (45:57):
Okay, all right, yeah you got one. Well, well the
new ones very nice.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (46:02):
But like when you fly into Vegas now you fly right,
or when you fly into la you go right. You
see so FI and I think that'll be very cool.
It'll be with with Huntingdon bank Field, the domed Huntingdon Bankfield.
You're going to see it every time you fly into Cleveland,
which will be awesome.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
It's it's just really.
Speaker 6 (46:21):
It's exciting, and I know that there's a lot of
people have feelings one way or the other. But I
think that once this thing gets moving and everybody kind
of gets pinded, it's going to be Yeah, it's going
to be awesome, exactly. I can't wait. I can't wait.
By the way, NBA draft happened last night.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
I asked Brock what happened because I joined it at
about ten o'clock last night, and I was like, I
don't know any of these people.
Speaker 6 (46:41):
Oh, okay, so I know very little. I think that
Ace Bailey trying to determine where he got to go
and wanted to do whatever he was going to do.
Decline teams, thought he was going to be superstar, wanted
to go to the Wizards, Pelicans or Nets. I guess
went to the Jazz and was clearly upset, and there
(47:02):
was also other people good that were upset. I heard
the coverage was ridiculously bad. They announced one pick, the
guy that got drafted. They called him Colin Coward. They
had wrong names. I did wrong teams.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
I'm gonna say this. I'm gonna say this. Then you
know you've already been traded. Your rights have been traded.
Why am I taking a picture with the hat on
of the team that just traded me.
Speaker 6 (47:32):
Well, they did a lot of that wrong.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
Pelt went off last night on ESPN, and rightfully so.
It was stupidity at its finest. I'm like, what are
we doing?
Speaker 6 (47:43):
I don't know, there is some just.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Take a picture with the new hat. Nope, we can't.
It's not in effect till July first. Okay, then move
the draft to after July first.
Speaker 6 (47:55):
Cedric Coward. Yeah, they call that guy Colin Coward.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
Perfect.
Speaker 6 (48:01):
By the way, I like the U. The Magic got
another three point shooter from Michigan State Jace Richardson. Who
can shoot the ball. Let's go, Paulo your boy. He's
a Duke guy.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
He is a due.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
I'm not gonna.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
I don't know if I say this or not. The
big from Duke. They came out early after his freshman
year here this year. Yeah, Flag, not Knipple, the other
the other big. For whatever reason, I'm sitting extra Brock
and I'm going I'm reading the name out loud. I
totally butchered the name. Okay. And he looks at me,
(48:42):
he goes, and you call yourself a Duke fan. Wow?
And I go, I'll be honest with fair enough reading
reading the spelling, I don't know what. I watch him,
I watch him play. He's got the upside.
Speaker 6 (48:57):
Just give me the spelling common malu wak k h oh,
you give me the pronunciation. I let's see what I
would say, k h A m A n common. Yeah,
I could see that. Looks like shaman common m A
l u a c h. I had the common right
malawak malawak. Yet I might have been closer with any.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
What did you have? Not any?
Speaker 4 (49:22):
And he was not.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
He goes, you're a Duke fan, and I'm like, yeah,
I just I watch him.
Speaker 10 (49:28):
I know.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
It's a it's a long name. That's it's not even
a long name. I can't even make that excuse that.
Don't worry about it. Give it. Don't be hard on yourself.
I think I think he's I think he's super talented.
He should have come back to do for another year,
but he went number seven, so what the hell? Pretty well, yeah,
all right, he went ten. Sorry.

Keep it twisted, Cleveland, Lance, How are you today?
Speaker 10 (51:08):
Nathan I'm doing well. How are you, my friend?
Speaker 6 (51:10):
Good? Thanks for being with us here day. I know
you've done a lot of great video breakdowns of our
rookie class Browns Mini camp all of that, let's talk
about Let's just start with the news of the day.
Obo Okoronquo released going into his third year. Obviously gonna
say the Brown's about eight eight and a half million
over the next two seasons in cap money. Were you
surprised by that?
Speaker 10 (51:30):
I was not, And here's why.
Speaker 7 (51:32):
You know, it kind of tells me what the Browns
are trying to move to completely on the defensive line.
If you look at Obo, for me, I thought he
was great. I thought he practices really hard. I thought
he did a lot of things really well. But he
is kind of a one trick pony, right. He's not
a real heavy guy. He struggles against the ron, he struggles.
Speaker 10 (51:46):
Set in the edge.
Speaker 7 (51:47):
And if you look at you know, the addition of
Troy and Shanko, who I think is going to be outstanding.
He just did too much with Tampa. He was all
over the place. He played up, he played down. But
more importantly, I think they're really high on both Alex
right and right two guys who kind of fit that mold,
long arms, long body, can move down to that three
technique if they need them to. Guys who can set
the edge and kind of fits that, you know, that
(52:09):
mentality that Jim Schwartz wants with that defense, right, Guys
who are positioning, flexible, guys who can play both run
and pass. Guys who can get on the edge and
go get in the b gaps gap. So it wasn't
surprising to me just because he's light and he doesn't
kind of fit that body mold that they want, not
right now with that defensive line.
Speaker 6 (52:26):
Yeah, that's a room that still I think has some
good competition on the back ends. I know they like
Aquara and then cam Thomas I thought played very well
for the Browns last year as well. As you're trying
to whittle that down maybe to five guys behind Garrett
you know McGuire, Alex right and then Joe Tryon Shoyinka.
Speaker 7 (52:43):
Yeah, you know, all those guys fit the mold. Watch
him out of the practice. The thing that sticks out
to me is, first of all, the attention to detail
with Jacques here in terms of getting.
Speaker 10 (52:51):
Off the football.
Speaker 7 (52:51):
They every day they're working on getting off the football.
Those guys are coached really hard. I think they really
have good feet, they have great balance, and some of
the guys they have on the interior, guys that are
gonna get better because they're gonna get better with the
pads on. Some guys go up, you know that some
guys go down. Those guys play with great balance inside.
You got Shelby Harris, you got Graham. I think Malie
Collins is a super underrated kind of pick up for them,
(53:14):
but that kind of again the guys who matched that
kind of mold they have for that defensive line, guys
who are one gap, guys who get upfield, and if
they can do that, that kind of protects those linebackers
a little bit, especially with the loss of Joka, and
they and then those guys can clean up. And those
guys were very impressive me in terms of their lengths
and their ability to cover ground this camp as well.
Speaker 6 (53:33):
You mentioned the interior, and I think obviously that was
something that the Browns attacked pretty hard this offseason. Dalvin Thompson,
so I thought, played well for the Browns, but they
want to get more upfield, so they bring him MALIEK.
Collins as a professional, you know, quarter pass rusher from
the interior. You draft Mason Graham fifth overall in this draft,
and then on the guy who I thought was very
(53:54):
good once you had him on the field last year,
and we'll be excited to get a back drink camp
Mike Hall Junior that this has the makings I think
of a of a very good room. Not to mention
Briggs and Shelby Harris there. What have you seen from
Mason Graham that gets you excited about what he can
do in this defense?
Speaker 7 (54:11):
Well, you know, I had him number one on my
board going into the draft just because I think he's
the safest guy. And people are like, well, we don't
need safe. Well, safe is important to me because what
Theron I thought, Dalvin Thomason. I'm with you on that, Nathan.
I think Dalvin Thomains is a really good pro.
Speaker 10 (54:24):
He's more of a scheme fit right.
Speaker 7 (54:26):
He doesn't fit what you know, Coach Schwartz like to
do in terms of getting up field in that one gap.
Speaker 10 (54:31):
He's a great two gapper. He's a thick body.
Speaker 7 (54:33):
Mason Graham's a guy when you watch on film, he
is a guy who anchors in there. But he can
also jump and be a one gapper, and I think
that's important, especially on those early downs. You know, even
if it's him and Shelby Harris on early downs, if
they're struggling with teams trying to gap them a little
bit or get those big double teams. But I think
Mason Graham he's a guy who's going to excel once
the pads go on. He plays with great balance and
violent hands, and when you do those two things, it
(54:55):
really doesn't show up until you start hitting right. It
doesn't show up until you start taking on those double.
Speaker 10 (54:59):
Teams and things like that.
Speaker 7 (55:00):
So when the pads go on, Browns are going to
see why, you know, Browns fans, I think we'll.
Speaker 10 (55:04):
See why they took him so high. He's a guy
who just.
Speaker 7 (55:06):
When you watch him on film over and over in
the Big ten and the teams they played, he's an
immovable object. And then he gets in that you know,
you get the third down, it's almost like a switch
for him. He turns you know, he turns up. He's
able to turn that gap, you know, turn that edge
in that B gap.
Speaker 10 (55:19):
And he's also going to.
Speaker 7 (55:20):
Be he's a little better athlete than people think. You
know in Michigan he had the two gap all the
time and he had to use his hands and kind
of stay on the los. He's not going to do
that here with Cleveland. So I think he's only I
think he's just kind of reached, you know, the tip
of the iceberg of how good he's going to be,
because this game I think even fits him more.
Speaker 6 (55:37):
So you are of the belief like the Cleveland Browns are,
because to me, when you take a defensive tackle fifth overall,
you're expecting him not just to be a decent pass rusher.
I think you're expecting to be a plus pass rusher
because that's the name of the game, right. Yes, of
course you've got to stop the run, but when you're
taking somebody at that position that early, you think that
they are going to be in the backfield disruptor. And
(56:00):
the Browns felt like, as you pointed out there, what
he was asked to do at Michigan limited, maybe some
of those opportunities. You think this is the case of
somebody who's going to be, from a statistical standpoint or
an impact standpoint, more of a dominant pass rusher, more
of a forces pass rusher. At the NFL level than
he was at, you know, in college.
Speaker 7 (56:19):
Well, you know, I think the big thing that won't
always show up on stats, say, is the fact that
he's going to be in the backfield so much, right,
so you're going to have to account for him in
a game plan, and anytime you're accounting for anybody else
besides Miles Garrett on the defensive line, that's going to
help Garrett in terms of getting more one on ones.
Graham is a guy who's gonna be He plays with
great balance.
Speaker 10 (56:38):
You can tell that. I'm a big believer in offense
and defensive lineman.
Speaker 7 (56:41):
When they wrestle, even at the high school level, it
just gives them such an advantage with their hands and
with their hand fighting and their balance. Right, So he
plays with great balance. And yes, at Michigan now it's easier.
I don't think it's easier, But it's the transition from
going from what he had to do at Michigan to
what he's going to do with the Browns. It's going
to kind of unleash him. It's hard to be a
two gapper, hard to get your hands on and read
those blocks and where the doubles are coming from.
Speaker 10 (57:03):
When you get to turn it loose a little bit.
Speaker 7 (57:05):
But I think the reason you take a guy like
him so so high is because he can he can
win on first down. And what that means is the
Browns to be successful, they have to win on first down.
For me, because of the fact, once you get if
you can get the second third long, now you can
turn it loose a little bit.
Speaker 10 (57:20):
You can do the things you want to do if
you get. If you if you lose.
Speaker 7 (57:23):
On it, if it's second five for an offense, the
offense now dictates, right, you have to play more base
defense because they can run and pass. So I think
what he does is that he allows them to win
on first down because he's so big, he can anchor
in there on those doubles, let those linebackers run around.
But then he's able to you know, win on third
down or second long too. So I think he's a
guy again he doesn't you know, he you know, people
(57:44):
are disappointed at times because he doesn't fit that mold.
He's not Miles Garrett in terms of muscle build and
things like that. But once those pads go on, he's
a guy that you watch, you know, he's he just
is immovable object. And then his athletic ability and his
ability to move. Now, obviously there's no pads on, but
I thought it movement skills are really good during you know,
the entire summer.
Speaker 6 (58:02):
Process, which is good because I think that you talk
about him and Mike Hall and Malie Collins on a
kind of a rotation. I thought Briggs played very well.
Certainly is kind of more of a run stopper last year,
and he still have veteran Shelby Erris. That could be
a fun room. The defensive line is gonna have to
be a strength of this football team. Let's take a
step back from that and just go kind of big picture.
What were what was your big takeaway about this football team?
(58:24):
Maybe the direction is going to be going offensively the quarterbacks.
Obviously there's a lot to get to in there. But
what was kind of your takeaway about this football team
overall after kind of the OTAs in mini camp.
Speaker 7 (58:34):
Well, you know, going out we just talked about, I
think the defensive line is, without question their deepest position group, right,
lots of guys, lots of guys. You know, I didn't
even think about some of those guys you're talking about.
There's lots of depth there.
Speaker 4 (58:44):
Right.
Speaker 7 (58:44):
I thought, led by Dwan Jones, I thought the offensive
line booked physically fit right.
Speaker 10 (58:50):
And I think going back to what Bloomeringham wants to do.
Speaker 7 (58:52):
Obviously Bloomgrin being a Callahan kind of disciple, it kind
of showed me. And then you look at what they
did in the draft, right, they went and got Junkins,
and they got Sampson and they got fan In, which
tells me Kevin uh Sefanski is gonna get the keys
back to the car, right, because so they're gonna you know,
I love twelve personnel if you have athletic tight ends
because it puts such a strain on that defense.
Speaker 10 (59:10):
Are you gonna play Nickel? Are you gonna play bass?
Speaker 2 (59:13):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (59:13):
Then you can find those matchups you want. The backs
catch the ball while the backfield. I was very impressed
with Junkins and Sampson and those guys catching the ball,
which allows you to get into empty and do some
of the things he likes to do in.
Speaker 10 (59:24):
Finding those matchups.
Speaker 7 (59:25):
But going back to you know, going back to what
Stefanski and the reason you know he was hired by
the Browns. They're gonna run that weak side zone. They're
gonna run they're gonna run counter, they're gonna run power.
Speaker 10 (59:34):
They're gonna kind of create an identity.
Speaker 7 (59:36):
And it doesn't mean the identity is automatically gonna create
wins for you. But you can fix your identity. You
can't fix something you don't do. And it kind of
feels like they went away from what made him successful.
It kind of feels like they're going back to that
weak side zone. They're gonna go back to pulling those guards,
getting those guards out in front. And it's I always
said this, it's not really what you put in, it's
what you can fix.
Speaker 10 (59:54):
And these are things he can fix.
Speaker 7 (59:56):
He's brought in guys that I think kind of fit
that mold if you think at Tommy Reese was a
Brian Kelly kind of disciple, notre Dame, multiple tight ends.
So I think they're kind of going back to what
they do well in creating that identity. And I think
an identity, whether it's good or bad, it's something you
can fix and it's what you can hang your hat on.
Speaker 6 (01:00:13):
Yeah, and I think that identity is going to be
all about running the ball. And you mentioned the twelve personnel,
so that'll kind of help me jump in over to
Harold Fannin. I like what I saw from him. I
thought he was very impressive. I think he's somebody that they
can bring out. He can almost play like a big
slot wide receiver for you, depending on the way a
defense matches that twelve personnel. What do you see from
fan and do you think that he is going to
be a big part of what we do from a
(01:00:34):
package standpoint being on the field with David Njoku.
Speaker 7 (01:00:37):
Yeah, you know, if you think about first down, right,
you get it first down and you go twelve personnel.
If that defense goes regular, now you're going to find
those matchups. You put them on the outside. Now if
you know they want to put a corner on him,
because I think he kind of creates a real matchup
problem for a linebacker to safety, then you can kind
of open up those receivers, even if it's not Judy,
because now you can kind of get them on some safeties, right,
so you can improve your He can help improve those
(01:00:59):
matchups for those receivers who might not have the skill
set to beat an NFL corner all the time. Then
if they want to go Nickel, you know, you got
to be able to run the ball a little bit
in there, and that kind of plays into what Savans
he wants to do with.
Speaker 10 (01:01:10):
That power run game.
Speaker 7 (01:01:12):
Like you said, it's one of the you know, you've
been doing this a long time as well. Some guys
just they just get open, and he's a guy that
just really gets open. He understands leverage, he understands he
does a really good job when he's facing a smaller
guy of using kind of creating that box out.
Speaker 10 (01:01:26):
He does a really good job of using angles.
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
I love the fact that he hit texts blind spots
of corners.
Speaker 10 (01:01:32):
He does. He has a pretty high IQ.
Speaker 7 (01:01:34):
In terms of how to get off the ball with
his releases against Press. Those things will only get better.
But you can tell he kind of has a former
receiver background. And when you go back and look at
his best games, his best games were against Texas A
and M and Penn State, he shows great He shows
great ability to get open. And once again, I think
he's going to be huge because he's the guy that's
going to create matchups not only for himself but for
(01:01:56):
his teammates because of his skill set. He's kind of
you know, he's only two thirty to forty, right, so
who do.
Speaker 10 (01:02:00):
You put on them right?
Speaker 7 (01:02:01):
And that's going to be a that's going to be
a difficult thing for a defensive coordinator to try to
figure that out.
Speaker 10 (01:02:05):
So I'm with you.
Speaker 7 (01:02:06):
I think he's going to be a really important part
of what the Browns try to do, especially on early downs.
Speaker 6 (01:02:12):
The big question with this football team is who's going
to be throwing the football. You've got a chance, obviously
to see all four quarterbacks. We've seen Joe Flacco play
quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. We have not obviously seen
the rookies Dylan Gabriel or Shore Sanders, and then Kenny
Pickett we've seen with Pittsburgh and then most recently Philadelphia.
What did you kind of make of the way reps
were distributed? What did you see and what kind of
direction do you think things may be going for the
(01:02:33):
Browns of that position?
Speaker 7 (01:02:35):
Well, it was interesting. You're obviously you're out there all
the time too. They had the you know, both of
those fields going right, and for me, that tells and
my dad always taught me this to give if you
have a bunch of guys at a certain position that
are kind of equal or kind of trying to prove themselves.
You've got to get them off the speed first before
they have any chance to compete. So I think they're
doing a really good job of let's get you knowing
the offense, Let's get you understanding the speed of the game,
(01:02:58):
understanding where landmarks are, where people are supposed to be,
you know, getting underneath center, things like that. So I
think they're doing a good job of that. Trying to
get everybody work, I think that's it. You know, everybody
has their different opinions. But I think that's why Flacco wasn't,
you know, used a ton because he kind of understands that,
and he's been around a long time. He's been with
the Browns, so he doesn't necessarily have to get up
the speed. With the verbiage and the footwork and things
(01:03:19):
like that. I think Joe Flacco will be the start
week one if I was, if somebody was to ask
me why, because not only is he a veteran, but
he allows those guys around him to play at full speed.
And if you look at the Browns, sometimes they get
off the slow starts and they're not a super physical
team at practice. And when you're not a few a
super physical team, that's that acclamation that can cause you
(01:03:40):
to you know, everybody says the Browns are unisciplined with
all the penalties. I don't think it's necessarily undisciplined because
you know it's undisciplined. I think it's because they're just
not used to playing at that you know, thouthand mile
proor speed with all those big bodies running around, and
I think so I think Flacco gives them that opportunity. Now,
if you ask me, with the rookies, I think Sanders
has done some really really good things. I think Dylan
Gaber ahead of him just because he played a long
(01:04:01):
time in college. He's one hundred and fifty five touchdown
pass he had sixty four starts. He played three big
time programs, so you know that too. So he's seen
different coverages, He's been coached differently. He understands fronts and
coverages and roles and you know where hot receivers are.
He's been underneath center, so that footwork's a little bit different.
You know, Sanders, I think for me has the Sanders.
(01:04:22):
What he'll need to work on is that I think
he got so much pressure at Colorado. He got in
a bad habit of drifting and when you get that
A and B gap pressure, it kind of causes you
to go backwards and if you don't even know you're
doing it sometimes, and he doesn't have it like a
rocket arm. He's got a plenty of arm strength. But
and when you don't transfer your weight, that hurts you.
And you saw that sometimes during camp where he's just
(01:04:44):
gonna learn, and those are all things that are gonna
happen with reps, right. But I think he was the
offense at Colorado. He didn't go, they didn't go. And
that also, you know, that means he's seeing different.
Speaker 10 (01:04:53):
Blitzes and different coverages.
Speaker 7 (01:04:55):
He doesn't He never saw a lot of base base
things at Colorado because teams had to really prepare for
the They had four really.
Speaker 10 (01:05:01):
Good receivers, yeah, and then zero run game.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
Right.
Speaker 7 (01:05:04):
So I just think some of his habits that he's
learned now. And I also think with a guy like
that when you watch them, he's a gamer, right, so
he's gonna he looked good in even like seven on
sevens and team and stuff because he's a gamer. But
Gabriel I think is ahead just because he's polished. He's
a little bit older. Yeah, he's got a really compact
throwing motion. He delivers the ball, he's got really good
he can spin it now he can. He's got a
(01:05:25):
lot more arm strength than I thought he did, but
that would.
Speaker 10 (01:05:28):
Be the case.
Speaker 7 (01:05:28):
But I think both of those guys will get a look.
But as a as a coach, I just hope that
the number one thing is always to win and wherever
that is, however they develop those guys, you still got
to win football games, and I think Joe Flacco gives
him the best opportunity to do that going into Week one.
Speaker 6 (01:05:44):
What do you think about PICKT? I mean, fifteen and
ten is a starter, right, which, believe it or not,
in my time here with this organization, which is now
going on season thirteen, is that's the best record winning
percentage of any quarterback we've had. Seven gave winning drives.
And he's young enough that if he does put it together,
and I think a lot of people would say, you know,
be giving him bene of the doubt. That was probably
the worst coordinated offense in the NFL that he played
(01:06:05):
in there in Pittsburgh, and it's ironic that he probably
is a better fit for what Arthur Smith wanted to do,
which is somewhat similar to what Kevin Stefanski will do
here and never play there in Pittsburgh with him, What
do you think the fact that he is still a
former first round pick, still young like Joe Flacco, and
I love Joe Flack. I see him kind of more
(01:06:25):
as and I could be totally wrong about this. These
are not scores, you know, it's kind of the break
glass in case of emergency type guy that the ideally
you want Pickett to start, and then you want to
see these rookies at some point. If Picket, you know,
doesn't do well, or I Pickett does do well, then
that's even a bonus for you because you may have
you found somebody or the very worst, that's somebody that
can turn into a third round compick for you next
year if he were to sign somewhere else. So I
(01:06:47):
just I think it would be Flacco was great with us,
but really hasn't been a winning quarterback other anywhere else
since twenty seventeen other than that season with us we
got picking.
Speaker 7 (01:07:00):
You said, you kind of took the words right out
of my mouth, right. You don't really know what he
had at Pittsburgh because that was they didn't do a
lot of He didn't do a lot of things that
he would be successful at right, and it shows it.
One thing that I think he struggles with is he struggled.
He's got great feet and he could do the things
he can throw from different launch points when I watch
him on someone, because I was doing the same thing
you're doing, right, trying to figure out what this guy is.
He's a first rounder. I think he struggles within the
(01:07:22):
pocket with footwork within the pocket right that I always
say the old Dan Marino uh moving left or right
or up, up and down one to three yards to
kind of create those windows. You see some miss that
he has because he doesn't move very well.
Speaker 10 (01:07:33):
In the pocket for some reason.
Speaker 7 (01:07:34):
Once again, I think a guy like Kevin's fancy says
I can fix that, right, you know, you know, going
back to Flackle, I think you're exactly right.
Speaker 10 (01:07:40):
I don't know, you know what the answer is.
Speaker 7 (01:07:43):
I will say this, you want. One of the most
overused words in football for me is the word culture.
Culture is not what you say, it's what you do.
And the Browns are in an interesting thing. They're they're
in a they're in a place now where they have
these veterans, right, and the rosters. The roster's got some
high end guys that can really play. And if you
say that, you know we're going to develop these guys
in winnings not most important thing. I think you can
(01:08:04):
lose these I think you can lose the locker room quickly.
I don't care what level of football you're at. Winning's
got to be the primary thing that you're telling everybody.
We're gonna do whatever we got to do to win.
And if you think it's Picket, if you think it's Flaco,
if you think it's one of the younger guys, you know.
Speaker 10 (01:08:19):
It's got to be the older guys.
Speaker 7 (01:08:20):
Got to know that that guy is the best guy.
Whoever that is, that guy gives us the best chance
to win, because winning should be you know, obviously, we're
all in positions. If if our bosses tell us that
they want to see something, then absolutely, But as a
football coach, I'm putting the guys out there that are
ready to play and help me win, and the Browns
should think they're gonna win every game. Obviously it'll be
really tough to do that, but that's your mentality. That's culture, right,
(01:08:43):
that's we're practicing. You got to prove yourself.
Speaker 10 (01:08:46):
So I'm with you.
Speaker 7 (01:08:47):
If I was to say, you know, oh, it can't
be Picket or it can't be.
Speaker 10 (01:08:50):
Flacco, you know, I really don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:08:52):
I'm like you, I'm looking forward to seeing this in
camp and how they divvy up the reps and how
they you know, are they going to go live a
little bit more so these guys can actually see some
live and things like that. It'll be very interesting, you know,
come then in July.
Speaker 6 (01:09:04):
I agree with you, and I think that's gonna be
fascinating because we saw, you know, Flaco. You know what
you've got in Joe Flacco in many ways, right, so
he got the least amount of reps. I think what's
gonna be fascinating is what do these look like when
we get into training camp? What do these look like
when we get into joint practices, which I think are
going to tell you a lot more about who they
think is going to be playing, you know, early in
the season, and that's you know, that's six weeks away.
(01:09:24):
We're gonna be in Carolina, I think in six weeks,
so you're gonna, I think, have a lot more information
about that. There one other question. I wanted to get
to you, and we appreciate time. We'll let you run
after this one. But do you think that the Browns
have enough in the wide receiver room or is that
a room that you still would be looking at maybe
to see more additions.
Speaker 7 (01:09:43):
Well, you know, I here's the thing. I you know
him better than not. I was pretty impressed with Seth
Tillman last year before he got hurt, and I said.
Speaker 10 (01:09:49):
Him physically, he's more.
Speaker 7 (01:09:51):
He's more of those guys before he got You know,
when you go watching my practice, there's certain guys that go.
Speaker 10 (01:09:54):
Man. That guy is a good looking athlete. Sat Tillman
is just a really good.
Speaker 7 (01:09:57):
Looking athlete and he does a lot of really good things.
So for me, I think it, you know, my thought
is all right, they're going twelve personnel fans.
Speaker 10 (01:10:04):
I think they think a fan in as.
Speaker 7 (01:10:05):
A receiver as well, even though he's a tight end.
I think they know what they got in a joke,
especially run after catch.
Speaker 10 (01:10:10):
You know his ability to get the ball and go
with it.
Speaker 7 (01:10:13):
So I do think they need you know, I you know,
who is going to be that second guy. If it's Tillman, great,
then who's gonna be the third guy. And if it's
not gonna be the third guy, do you expect Fannin
to be that guy? Obviously, it's a room that has
some question marks with Thrash and Woods and some you
know Bell, some guys that you know haven't really produced.
You know, I've I've seen Thrash through some things that
practice that kind of gets you excited.
Speaker 10 (01:10:33):
His ability to get open, his ability to get.
Speaker 7 (01:10:35):
Off press, catch it at the catch point, run after catch.
So you know, do these guys just need more work
or do they need to go out and get a guy.
I think it'll tell you a lot in terms of
what personnel are they coming out with, So you know,
after week one or two, what's the person that are
they coming out in twelve.
Speaker 10 (01:10:48):
If they're coming out in twelve.
Speaker 7 (01:10:49):
Then they're they're pretty comfortable with, said Tillman, and they
believe Fannin can be a guy that can really be
a difference maker in their past game because if they're
going twelve, it'll be a lot more play action, right,
it will be a lot more of that boot where
they're going levels concept and then they're gonna get you know,
third down and medium because you can win our first down,
then you can split those guys out and maybe find
a match up for Tilman and Judy if you've moved
(01:11:10):
the tight ends outside at one.
Speaker 10 (01:11:11):
So it'll be interesting. I'm with you, you know.
Speaker 7 (01:11:14):
I think talent wise, they probably do need to improve
a little bit there, but I think it has to
do with what scheme and what are they Are they
going back to what they do well or what Stefanski.
Speaker 10 (01:11:23):
Did well when he got here.
Speaker 7 (01:11:24):
That'll be I'll be watching just like you for sure.
Speaker 6 (01:11:27):
Yeah, we got a fullback in the mix too, so
there could be a lot of times where we have
two running backs on the field that maybe, you know,
we can get away with five receivers this year and
not necessarily go into six like in years past. It's
gonna be certainly fun. It is going to be fascinating.
Lance does a great job at Cleveland dot Com and
on Spectrum as well. But I like the way you
break down the film all of that. I think it's
(01:11:47):
it's awesome and I think people get smarter when they
check it out. So Lance, thanks so much for the time,
and we'll look forward to see what this thing looks
like when everybody gets back in the mix here and
gets rolling for training camp.
Speaker 10 (01:11:57):
Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (01:11:57):
I think for having me, Nath.
Speaker 10 (01:11:58):
I'll talk to you soon, buddy, you got it.

have eight open dates to the public, and they're quick.
It's over by August fourth, that's right. Friday July twenty fifth,
(01:13:30):

twenty ninth, Wednesday July thirtieth, Friday August the first, Saturday
August the second, and Monday August The first times for
those are on Friday July twenty fifth, two pm, Saturday
July twenty sixth nine thirty am.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
That's right, nine to thirty in the morning, a couple
morning practices.
Speaker 6 (01:13:53):
Monday July twenty eighth two pm, Tuesday July twenty ninth
two pm, Wednesday July thirtieth, nine am, Friday August first,
two pm, Saturday August second, nine thirty pm, Monday August nine,
a thank you, and Monday, August fourth, two pm, and
then we hit the road to Carolina.
Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
That's right. Yeah, Tuesday the fifth will be a travel
day to Carolina joint practice on Wednesday Thursday, kind of
that day in between walk through day and we'll be
live from Carolina somewhere, probably my hotel room. And then
Friday's game day.
Speaker 6 (01:14:28):
Ye's gonna call it vacation.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
Hey, he is going to call it vacation.
Speaker 6 (01:14:33):
Yeah, he's there. So those are true. Those are the dates.
That's when you got to get it in for Brown's
training camp. It's going to be kind of right out
of the gate and you'll really, I think, get to
see this team, you know, take shape twenty fifth, twenty six,
twenty eighth, twenty ninth, thirtieth, first, second, and fourth.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
So here's the deal. Tickets will be available to the
public Thursday, July third, one week from today, at ten
am Eastern Time. Brown's season ticket members will have an
advanced twenty four window to reserve their tickets on Wednesday,
July second. Each account is limited to four tickets to
(01:15:11):
one individual session and cannot claim for multiple sessions. Similar
to home games at Huntington bank Field, printed tickets will
not be available. There are multiple theme days for all
these practices, highlighting local groups, organizations, and providing fans fun
and specialized activities. Dog Pound Excel on Friday, July twenty fifth.
(01:15:35):
Back together weekends Saturday, July twenty sixth. That's where every
team's got practice at the same time for the most part,
and everybody NFL networks all over the place. Lavelle great,
it's on vacation. Good for ends. When I was the
last day for the cafe, I know, be tough next week.
Speaker 6 (01:15:52):
By the way, the Browns open the season on September seventh,
so that means they will not be in front of
the fans other than the home preseason on the twenty third,
on the twenty third of August. From August fourth until
that opener against Ceciliano's Rams. Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
University Hospitals Rainbow Day is Monday, the twenty eight. Tuesday
of the twenty ninth is Military Appreciation. Wednesday the thirtieth
is Stay in the Game Attendance Network Youth Football Day Friday,
August first. That'll be a big day. There'll be a
lot of kids here. Saturday, August second, brownsbackers and Monday,
August fourth, Orange and Brown some of the other big
(01:16:32):
big things going on. Let's see. By the way, I
don't mind that. I don't mind that that dog logo.
Speaker 6 (01:16:40):
I liked it. That's a dog Pound XCEL logo.
Speaker 2 (01:16:42):

(01:17:09):
know people want more practices out here. Here's the problem.
We're on the road for basically two weeks and there's
a lot of construction that's going to be kicking off.
I've noticed they are moving a lot of things into
position here to start, and I'm assuming they will start
next week when things really thin out in this building,
and then we're off completely. As I was telling the
(01:17:31):
audience earlier, the week after the fifth, so I would
think there'll be a lot of construction. The one side
of the one side of the practice field will not
be usable at all. We're moving radio row, no pressure,
and where are we going to be. We're working through that.
If anybody can figure it out, it is the fabulous
(01:17:53):
Mackenzie Fairfield. Thank god she's on our side. Yeah, well
we got listen. I mean, we have a lot of
those practices at two pm.
Speaker 6 (01:18:01):
I'm aware while we're there, right during the show, right
during the show. So we'll be We'll give you coverage.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
That I like. I like a couple of mornings. I
like a couple of mornings. Might even be able to
make a golf league. Then still, I.
Speaker 6 (01:18:12):
Ain't thirty am on a Saturday a bit early.
Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
That's a bit early.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
Gibe with all. I've got a new boy. One o'clock
practice on Saturday for him was early.
Speaker 6 (01:18:24):
I'm a totally different guy.
Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
What are you talking about, jod.
Speaker 6 (01:18:27):
I'll play golf at nine in the morning. Now, I'm
not afraid.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
I know, I'm kind of torn because I do love
the golf late day.
Speaker 6 (01:18:35):
Oh it's the best one o'clock.
Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
Yeah, but then it takes Yeah, I become the golf guy,
and I am no big fan.
Speaker 6 (01:18:43):
My scores are better if I t off between like
eleven and two.
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
Yeah, that's right. Novel concept, Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:18:54):
That's my best. That's definitely my best time toff. All right,
when we come back, let's get in the mail bag.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Again.
Speaker 6 (01:20:11):
We got questions on YouTube, questions on X at Browns
Underscore Daily. I got one right here that I think
I'll start with this one cause I think this is
actually an interesting one and an interesting topic. And I
talked about from Jared Lougan Bill. He says, how cool
can you see AI playing in the Browns operation both
on and off the field or is it already? So
my guess this is a guest and this is a
(01:20:32):
question that I will ask when we get everybody back here,
that I'll ask the people at the top of the organization.
But my guess is Browns have always been kind of
analytically driven and at least analytically minded, and I think
that there will be a lot of ways that it
will be integrated in terms of I think it's probably
a quick way to find tendencies. It's a quick way
(01:20:54):
to do some scouting. We saw, you know, our our
Man of the People content Browns do AI scouting reports
of all the quarterbacks, and it was really impressive how
quickly is able to do it. And I think that
you will have I think every team will have some
fort of it.
Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:21:09):
I think what people are forgetting is that these are
not games played in simulations, and that it still comes
down to human execution. You can have all the right information,
but if you do not execute it properly, it doesn't matter.
That's not say that it's not important. I think what
it can do is significantly trim some areas of staffs
and create efficiencies where perhaps because of it, just the
(01:21:33):
fact that AI is able to do things so quickly
and so wide and rapidly and drill down that you know,
maybe you'll see scouting if they can train AI, for example,
to shove hours of film in and spit out actionable things. Now,
it'll take a while for there to be verification that
what it's saying to you is correct, that it's directionally
(01:21:55):
correct at least, but I think you could see it
replace some of maybe the monstrous you know, scouting departments
and film watching departments in NFL operations. You still need
area of scouts. You're still going to need to go
and talk to people and get that human reaction. But
I think from that, and then from game plan standpoints.
You know, there's AI models in that article I was reading,
and we can talk about that maybe tomorrow. You know,
(01:22:16):
where it can it'll not only it'll analyze everything about
an opponent's defense and their tendencies and personnel groupings and
blah blah blah what they do in certain situations and
not only prevent produce a game plan, but produce a
call sheet for the for the coach. So it's like,
all right, in these situations, here are the plays you
still have to execute. But I do think it's a
pretty fascinating things. I think that you still have to
(01:22:38):
be able to execute. The game is so fast, but
I think in terms of preparation, I think really in
scouting and even for coaches, I think you could get
like AI could maybe give you here's what they've done
in every situation so far this game. You know, and
have that at your head. Okay, so what what have
they done when we're in third and seven or more
so far this game? If you're in like the third
quarter and it's been like, all right, they've done from
(01:22:59):
this down a distance on this hash, They've done this
four times, So then you have that in your mind.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:23:05):
The thing is if everybody has it, then it becomes
back to sure the cat and mouse game of you
know that I know that, you know that, I know
so I know that you know that I know that
you know that I know. So I have to act
a different way or maybe act the same way because
you know that I know that. You know that I know,
and I know that you know. So I don't know,
but I do think it is I definitely think it
will be something that will be looked at. And as
I said, you know, Content browns to me right now,
(01:23:28):
he's somebody honestly like I would even I would talk
to I would say, hey, you did this, Zigura thought
it was cool and I did. What else? Do you
think this is all right? We'll find out.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Travis Vanderhurst tweets at the show. Okay, congratulations on your
new baby boy. Thank you. My question is what, in
your opinion is the two first round picks next year
used on go Brown's baby?
Speaker 6 (01:23:54):
What will what positions will the two first round picks
be used on next year?
Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:23:59):
Yes, I'm just going to give you, like some groups
like receiver, look quarterback obviously has to be in the discussion.
But let's hope that it isn't right. Let's hope that
that's not what it has to be on. I would
love Caleb Downs and then either a receiver, a defensive
(01:24:21):
end or an offensive tackle. I feel like that's probably
where you could be looking right there now. A corner
is a possibility if because's got Denzel, you got MJ.
And that's what we talked about yesterday, that you want
to see when these young guys step up and show
that you know they can be the guys to carry
that position forward when it's unlikely that you'll be able
to bring all three back of your starters again next year.
(01:24:42):
So that could be in the mix as well. But
that's kind of that's that's where I would be looking
at it if I was the Cleveland Browns right now.
Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
Dog Pound Cleveland brown Do you guys know if there
is anywhere downtown that sells Joe Thomas's seventy three Cole
Spear Great Lakes Brewing Company, yep, is this place.
Speaker 6 (01:24:58):
That's the place they make it. I'm sure he'll be
here at some point for an event.
Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
He was here like last year, yeah for like some
yeah with mister Alrich shout out na yeah an.
Speaker 6 (01:25:10):
Akron for like the Akron High School.
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
I was like, oh, okay, yeah, fine, repairing fences, going
to Akron to do high school, but not coming here
to say Hi. Well, I'm that's right angry.
Speaker 6 (01:25:24):
I'm locked in, locked in on turkeys, just totally locked.
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
Okay, Victor, run what up?
Speaker 6 (01:25:29):
Boys?
Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
If you were giving a free day to do anything,
what are you spending your day on?
Speaker 6 (01:25:35):
A combination of the family, friends, golf, food that is good, wine,
maybe at margarita, maybe just playing tequila. Maybe some Mitchell's
since I've had to go away. Mitchell's banana cream pieh
ice cream is actually very good.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
There you go, little golf in the morning, little pool
afternoon with the fan, nice dinner at night. There you go,
usually my Florida trips. H that's great. Yeah. On the
YouTube channel Cleveland Browns dot com slash msryutube dot com,
slash Browns Yep, it's where we're streaming this and every day. Yes,
(01:26:17):
Chris h Nate has twelve had any first team reps.
I know you're tracking all the practices. We aren't privy to.
Uh actually, I don't think we are.
Speaker 6 (01:26:29):
Well, I am, but right now for what's open to
the media. But I think that those will be coming.
I think those will be coming. If he's gonna have
first team reps, I think they are in the future.
Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
All right, Another person reaches out, if you were to
make a movie out of a video game, what would
it be and who is the star?
Speaker 6 (01:26:51):
So well, boy, this is a good one. I would
love to make a movie out of Fortnite, which in
some ways is kind of like it would really be
a movie that's very similar to why my blanking on
those ones with Jennifer Lawrence is the star to kill
a mockingbird? Hunger Games. It's kind of Hunger Games in essence.
(01:27:14):
One hundred people get dropped onto an island and only
one gets to survive, and there's a poisonous storm or whatever.
I just think I think that could That would be
an easy, fun movie to try to figure out who won, how, what, why?
All of it? I think it would be. I think
four I would be a it be just a banger
action movie.
Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
The complainer asked, what is the worst uniform we've ever had?
Speaker 6 (01:27:40):
I mean, come on, it's the uniforms that we had
and we don't have anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
Yeah, that's right, that's it. Yeah, those are tough. Yeah
that you couldn't read the numbers. Tough, tough, oh man.
Speaker 6 (01:27:55):
And when we had for a while, I want to say,
at some point during that we had Andrew Hawkins in sixteen,
and Taylor Gabriel in eighteen.
Speaker 2 (01:28:05):
Corey Coleman in nineteen and Jim it was a drive
gym nuts. Yeah, that's an understate nuts. Yeah. And we've
cleaned that up quite nicely. Yes, it's done. Well, that's it.
That's today's mailbag.
