Speaker 1 (00:05):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Cowboys This is Cowboys
storyline presented by Gillette, the official shave of the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Here's Nick Eatman, Let's go, Let's do this Cowboys Storyline
presented by Gillette. Friday, October twenty fourth, Final Final Show.
What We're doing here, Final show of the week before
we go to Denver. Go to Denver tomorrow. It's been
(00:43):
a while since we've played a regular season game. There
have been a couple of preseason games don't count, but
regular season. But eight years, just like it's supposed to
be every eight years, you're going to show up there
two thousand and nine, twenty seventeen, twenty five, every eight years,
all right, we'll see if the Cowboys can snap a
(01:05):
thirty year drought of beating Denver. Thirty three year drought
of beating them in Denver. So we've been talking about
that all week. Does it matter? Does it really care?
These guys weren't even alive. Then just go out there
and be better than the Broncos. That's something that they
haven't been and they're good this year. They're five and two.
As I've said all week, I don't think this is
a six and two football team. I don't think they're
(01:26):
that good. I really don't. So that's what they'll be
if they beat you. That's why I think the Cowboys
are going to win. I think that they are the
better team, and I think their offense right now is rolling.
So I'll just get my prediction out of the way.
I think they're gonna win them and I'm going I'm stealing.
I forgot the guy who told it to me. I
think it's Casey Joe. No, no, no, no, it was
Casey in LA. Thirty three. Thirty three is the number.
(01:49):
It's the magic number. That's what I'm going with. All right,
let's go to the phone lines. Brian and Kansas City's
up first, Brian, what's up?
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Good morning, sir?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Are you I'm all right, man, I'm all right.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I think it's this is the lucky one.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
I gave my I gave him my score, but I
think this is it.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Just my question for today, though, is just any of
those people that are coming off of you know, that
had their window open, or anybody on the injury report,
any of them you think have a chance at playing,
and that includes Diggs and and what's his name, the
left tackle with the glute injury. Yeah, just any anything
(02:30):
he got on injury updates. Brother, I appreciate it. Good
to talk to you. Talk to you next week, Mane.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Thanks appreciate it all right, Brian. The one guy that
I would say is is definitely out. I don't know
anything's definite, but Diggs isn't playing. He's not playing this game.
Beyond that, who knows now. I thought that was interesting
today on one five to three, the fan getting to
(02:55):
listen to Jerry and he said he doesn't think he'll
play this week. Very questionable is what he said, but
a shot. Shottenheimer also said he thinks that he probably
won't play. But then after that, Jerry wouldn't get into
So there are some people around here that think Trayvon
Diggs has played his last game with the Cowboys. I
(03:16):
haven't gotten that far just yet. I think you're a
team that doesn't have great cornerbacks, and I think he can.
He can be great when he wants to be. So
I'm I'm kind of hard pressed to say let's get
rid of him. But Diggs, I don't think we'll play
this week. Let's just keep it at that. Of the
guys that were that were the window was open to
practice the bb overshown revel a group. Bbe would be
(03:39):
the one guy that I think could play this week.
I talked to him yesterday. He says he's gonna try
to be back for this game. He's got he got
some reps yesterday working, you know, some with the first team,
but seems more realistic to come back for Arizona the
next game. But either way, those those three guys there
and it and we'll see. He's limited. We'll see what
(04:02):
he can do today. All right, Gary in New Mexico's
next Hey Nick, Hey, Gary, how are you doing.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
Hey, I'm doing good man. I'm gonna give you a
trivia question. I'm going to piggyback off of one of
the questions on the website.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Okay, all right, how did you do? By the way,
with some of those questions, I.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
Did really, really well. You know, I was perfect until
you get to the end and it starts asking me
things about recent history.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
You know what's funny? Hold on, let me just tell
you about this. Let me just tell you how it goes.
Kurt Daniels, Kurt Daniels, who's on hanging with the boys.
He gives me the first fifteen. He does it. He's
already he's already into like Kansas City probably, that's how
far ahead he is. And I will always add the
last five. So the last five are always a little
bit more recent, because you know, did you get the
(04:52):
yesterday's answer? And by the way I said it on here,
but I didn't give the answer. The guy that cut
the two touchdown passes in the twenty twenty one game
was Malik Turner. And there's nobody that I know that
has gotten that without maybe multiple choice, but Malik.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Turned out No, No, I did.
Speaker 7 (05:06):
That's the one that I missed.
Speaker 8 (05:07):
I had no clue.
Speaker 7 (05:09):
I can tell you the third string cornerback from nineteen
seventy four, but I couldn't tell you who scored the
touchdown three years ago.
Speaker 8 (05:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's just the way I am.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
I'm with you, all right.
Speaker 7 (05:17):
So here's my piggyback question. So question number seven. Emmitt
Smith scored that game winning touchdown in nineteen ninety two
out at Denver. But when he scored that touchdown, he
broke a team record that had stood since nineteen sixty
six for most total touchdowns in a season by a
single player, whose record did.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
He break sixty six?
Speaker 7 (05:40):
Yes, touchdowns, total touchdowns in the season. I'm man, Now,
you gotta think Denver.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
We're playing Denver, Oh in nineteen sixty six. I mean,
I would have thought, are you talking about quarterbacks that
can pass.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
It or just talking talking about I'm talking about total
touchdowns in a single season for a Cowboy player. You know,
Emmett broke that record with that touchdown run that had
stood since nineteen sixty six. This guy had sixteen touchdowns
in nineteen.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Sixty six as a rookie.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Bob Hays, Dan Reeves, Dan Reid's okay.
Speaker 8 (06:16):
Yeah, yeah, Dan Reeves.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
Yeah. Dan Reeves had eight rushing touchdowns and eight receiving
touchdowns as a rookie in nineteen sixty six. And I
think he may have even thrown a couple of touchdown back.
Speaker 9 (06:27):
But Dan Emmitt.
Speaker 7 (06:29):
Broke that record by beating Dan Reeves Denver in nineteen
ninety two. Yes, that was a cool thing. All right,
Enough with the glory days, Let's get onto this year's team.
I would be pleasantly surprised if they're able to beat
Denver this Sunday. And I'm a glass half full type
of guy. I'm just and that's kind of what I
want to touch on. Then I'll hang up and listen.
(06:49):
There's just there's a lot of talk out there about
we need to be trading the way God, we need
to be trading trying to get a player to get
us over the top and make a run at this thing.
And I don't think we're at a position yet where
we need to be talking about that because they haven't
even won consecutive games yet, you know, until you can
at least win back to back games, I'm not interested
(07:09):
in trading away draft capital because I don't think at
this point, I don't think this defense is one player away.
Speaker 10 (07:15):
Now.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
If you can tell me that you can get a
player that's going to have an Amari Cooper type impact
and make it a legitimate Super Bowl contender, I would
be willing to listen. But I don't think they're that
close on defense. As great as the offense is, and man,
I love watching this offense. It is so fun to
watch the defense. I think it's just too far away.
But we'll see what happens, and i'd like to hear your.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Thoughts on that, all right, thanks for the call. You know, Gary,
I actually disagree a little bit with you there because
when you know, what you're talking about is we haven't
won consecutive games. Haven't seen that yet, and you're right,
and if you don't do that, then we're seeing a three,
three and one record right now. We all know where
that leads to, right especially we didn't I think we
(08:00):
would get back there in the seventeen game season, but
because of the tie, they are headed towards a and
one ville. That's what it looks like. And so you know,
you don't have to win consecutive games necessarily to do that.
What you're asking for is consistency. We haven't seen them
to be a consistent team yet. My argument to that
(08:20):
would be, if you had more help on defense, if
you had a playmaker that you could count on, somebody
that could get you off the field every now and again,
that could just give you a little bit of help
on offense that can get you another win. Two or three,
then eight and one is kind of what they're looking at.
That's the course that they're on. They get a few
(08:41):
more wins. Now you're looking at what ten six and one,
maybe perhaps eleven to five and one. That's certainly in
the playoffs there. So I think that getting a player
could get you off of that off of that track,
and maybe that's all that you need now. I guess
the question that people would have to figure out is
(09:04):
are you okay trading in number one pick for a
player that'll be here, you know, this year and then
next couple of years just to kind of get into
the playoffs, just to kind of get in the dance
as a wild card and all that, or do you
think this has to be a move that makes you
a super Bowl contender? Now? I would say that if
you're in the playoffs, you're a contender. I mean, you
just are. We've seen it. We've seen lower seeds get
(09:27):
in there, get hot when on the road, that kind
of stuff. So I'm just kind of in the nine set.
Let's get in the dance. Let's just see what happens there.
But good good conversation, good good talk. You know, some
people just want to see a little bit more consistency
before they say, hey, let's do that. If not, then
you're not interested and just and just barely sneaking in here.
(09:47):
And then losing a first round pick for it, So
both arguments I could I could see that Pete in
Connecticut's next, Pete, what's up.
Speaker 11 (09:56):
You?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
How many times are you calling today? Pete?
Speaker 8 (09:59):
Thirty seven?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
But how many times after this are you gonna come back?
As you know you are? Repeat in three, Pete Colin,
that's right on this show.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
You No, this is the only time I'll give it
a try, all right, So I just want to tell
quick Dak Prescott's story. So ten years ago, I lost
my mom and my buddy let me bought me a
plane ticket to come and see the Cowboys play the
Eagles Dack's rookie year. And I got to actually meet
Ack for a quick second before on Saturday, the day
(10:32):
before the game, and he was just very nice to
me and gave me a quick handshake and said, keep
your head.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Up and we'll get.
Speaker 8 (10:39):
This one for our moms. And they won and with
Jason Winton, yes, and I just I feel like it's
been ten years to the day and my birthdays on Sunday,
so I think that's gonna pull off another miracle win nice,
And that's all I really got.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Okay, all right, that home game, right obviously, home game overtime,
that's what you're talking about.
Speaker 8 (10:58):
Yeah, yep, I think Yeah, Dak throw Jason went and
drove down the field. Sean Lee made that strip tackle.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
You're all right. Sean Lee's tackle won that game and
might have changed Cowboys history because if they don't win
that game, Romo's probably playing pretty soon.
Speaker 8 (11:16):
Yeah, and that game I just couldn't believe this first
time I ever left the state and I got to
go see the Cowboys playing that beautiful stadium. Just seeing
Dak make that throw away, it was just like everything
to me. So I hope you can pull off the
magic again this weekend.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
And Cowboys awesome. Thanks Pete. I mean you could think
me as well for that. I don't know if you
want to, I don't know. I've seen the picture. I've
posted it several times. That was the game. We're in
the back of the end zone. Cowboys are driving in overtime.
We're in the back of the in zone, and uh,
it's funny because like I just see Witt and come across.
(11:55):
I mean you just see him. He's right there and
Dak spinning on this way and I'm just pointing him
like there's there's Wittin right there there, he is right
there and so and then of course Witten I mean
Dak throws it to him. Of course he didn't see me.
But there is a there is an end zone shot
from the broadcast that if you just pause it, you
see like there's Dak, there's Wittin, and then you see
(12:16):
us in the background, Me Derek just like right there,
like there he is, like there is So I always
feel like I kind of contributed to that. Wink we
awesome though. Honestly, though, Pete, thanks for the call and
and not to make light of of of the story.
It's a great story and obviously a connection that that
(12:36):
you had. I'm so glad that Dak was able to
to talk to you about that and and you know
two people that can relate to that, and I'm glad
that that he made it such a great memory for you.
That's awesome, all right, Chris and Saratoga Springs, New York. Chris,
what's up?
Speaker 10 (12:52):
Nick?
Speaker 2 (12:53):
All right? Thank you, Happy Friday to you.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
I am so excited having Demo back after that injury.
Speaker 12 (13:01):
There's no player.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
I don't think that I have rooted for more since
he's been in the league than him. He's just the attitudes,
the perseverance, the dedication, always having a smiling on his face.
Just unbelievable to have him back on the field. And
I'm so happy for that kid. Yeah, I'm just very
very excited him back on the field.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, I don't I mean as far as playing, I
know you're talking about practice field. I don't think he's
just some people that are listening. I don't think he's
gonna be playing this game. I wouldn't be I'd be
surprised if he doesn't come back until the Raiders after
the bye, but on the field practice him. Yes, you're right.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
I do have one question for you real quick. With
Mingo coming back, what do you think it means for
that fourth and sith receiver? With Cobert and Ryan, do
you think do you think gone one of them will
be an active if Mingo's on, If Mingo's active this week?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, No, that's a that's a great question. I I
don't have that answer. I don't know. I need watch
practice today and you can kind of watch the scout
team and special teams and see who's who's that, who's
up and who's not. You can kind of get a
good gauge on that if you're playing special teams, you're in.
That's a great question because that that comes down to
(14:16):
who does play your best special teams. I Flinoy is
pretty good at that, I would say better than than
Mingo because he hasn't played it a lot. And but
Tolbert's not bad there either, so that that really is
a good question. I wish I had a better answer.
I don't. I don't know. I mean, who who would
you sit? Who would you who would you keep out?
Speaker 6 (14:39):
I'd have Tolbert out, I'd have Ryan in there, I'd
have Mingo in there. ILLINOI is just a better specialties
player in my opinion. And Mingo, I mean, you look
really good in pre season. Yeah, I thought you had
a good camp. If he's healthy, I would definitely have
a Mingo in and Flora Illinoy and then I'd have
(15:00):
Pulbert out.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I got you, all right, Thanks for the call. Here
here's where I would This is where I have to
defer to the coaches. Number one, who is your better
special teams guy? For sure? So you got to figure
that that part out. The factor that in also who
plays the most positions at receiver, who can do all
of the things if any of the guys are out,
(15:22):
if any if you suffer an injury in the middle
of the game, to knock on Wood to Pickens or
CD or Turpin, who can come in and fill in
the most spots for that, And if Tolbert is in
that group to do that, then then I think, you know,
I think we're we're forgetting just just how valuable that
(15:42):
that can be. Uh, I get it. He's not he
doesn't do anything that's just that wows you. You know,
he's not the biggest guy. Flinoy is one of the
biggest guys, and he's and he's fast too, And then
obviously Pickens does his thing, CD, CD Turprets is the
fastest guy maybe in the league. And you know, everything,
even Mingo has some size to him. Everyone does a
(16:03):
little something. That told Bertie he's easy to kind of
put over here. But I'm telling you, if he's got
the most versatility at receiver and he does the most
things on special teams because he knows a fourth year guys,
he's not a rookie by many, you know, stretch of
the magic. He's been here, so don't discount that. Again.
I wish I had an answer. I don't, but it's
(16:24):
gonna come down to some of these other factors that
we don't always see. All Right, Alex in South Bay, California, Alex.
Speaker 13 (16:32):
Nick, what's going on?
Speaker 14 (16:33):
Man?
Speaker 13 (16:33):
For a long time, no talk. I'm good man. Everything's
great over here. Gain one of the World Series, got
my Dodger blue on. Hopefully, hopefully that pans out.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Okay, trying to go back to your bag.
Speaker 13 (16:43):
Yeah, but it's been a long time.
Speaker 15 (16:45):
Hope.
Speaker 14 (16:45):
Everything's good with you, guys.
Speaker 13 (16:46):
I listen every days. It's just very hard to get through.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, yeah, well, great show every day. Awesome. I appreciate it.
Thank you, thank you for being good. Luck to your
to your team. I didn't even realize they want it
last last year. I didn't know that. Come on, hey,
I can tell you they won it in eighty one.
They beat the Yankees in eighty one. I can just
like Gary in New Mexico, I can take it way
back in the eighties. I can tell you everyone the eighties.
(17:11):
But last year, I don't remember. I don't know who
won it. I know the Rangers just wanted two years ago.
I know that.
Speaker 13 (17:19):
Right there we go. But yeah, so as far as
this week, goes Nick, I don't want to be the
wet blanket. I just think I don't I'm not sure
if they're gonna pull it off. They're on the road.
I just think the Broncos defense might be might make
that one stop that our defense.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, hey, hoping for the best.
Speaker 13 (17:37):
But but uh, I got I got the Broncos winning
at something about maybe around thirty one, twenty six, something
like that. And then my only question for you, Nick,
is so because this defense is what needs health essentially, right,
there's two former players that, had they had their head
on straight, I think could have had very good careers.
(17:58):
One is David Irving and the other is the linebacker
from Alabama that we had for a year.
Speaker 12 (18:04):
I forgot his name.
Speaker 13 (18:07):
There you go, Rolondo McClain. Yes, if you had to
pick one of those two players to be on this team,
who would it be? And then just overall, out of
those two players, who do you think would have just
the overall better career? Have you know again, have they
had like their head on straight and and really focused
on on the profession. But that's all I got, Nick.
It was good talking to you, and I'll try to
get back back on soon.
Speaker 10 (18:27):
Hopefully.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Thank you. That's easy for me. That's a fantastic question.
That's a that's a really good one. Who's the better
who's the better player of those two?
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
And also just sa if they would have had their
head on straight and who would have been the better player.
I don't know's it's probably Rolando McClain because you know
it was the first round pick. I think it was
eighth overall. He was supposed to be. David Irving was
a freak man. I don't know, man, David Irving that
(19:03):
he he this is what I remember. And Beam did
you did you have I don't know if you when
you say that, I don't know if you're in my
ear or your what? What? What? What do you think? It's?
That guy was a he was he was on this team.
He said on this team, like he would be a
piece on this Yeah, yeah, no, he would, he would,
(19:27):
And I mean they need linebacker help. I think it's
a great question because you're talking about him and over
shown together. Yeah, but okay, David Irving was suspended like
five games one year and he was coming back. I forget.
I guess it was against the Patriots and Tyrone Crawford
was getting asked about it, and he was like, you know,
(19:49):
do you think that David Irving's a guy that could
come in and you know, and and and have an
impact right away even though he's been out and I
remember the tyrone going David Camp. Yeah, most most other guys,
most of us not, probably not, but Dave David can
he he can't. He could come right in and just
and just be a freak, and he he could have.
(20:09):
I mean, like, that's why that's a really good question.
And here's what I here's what I wonder. I'm not
gonna wonder that out loud. I'm thinking of other players
that you could put in that category as it stands
right now. Though, that's a good question. David Irving had
a chance. He was really close, was really, really really
(20:30):
close to getting a massive contract, and it just the
bottom fell out before he could really get there. But
I think that's a that's a good question because both
those guys talent wise, talent wise, could have been could
have been great. And those are those are sad stories.
They really are when you when you think of it
(20:51):
that way of light, because it's not it's not just
it's not talent, it's other things and you can't get
over some of the other things. And so that's why
sometimes I think you gotta you gotta give some credit
to the to the guys that do figure out a way,
you know, to to get to get over some of
those some of those situations that that that are tough.
(21:14):
I mean, think about it. I mean, when you think
about from that standpoint, Dez Bryant, there was probably four
or five ten times in his life where he could
have gone a different way and not gotten to that point.
I mean, you know, Dez Dez could have had some
things that happened to him that that would have derailed
his development, his progress. And so while while it's easy
(21:37):
to look at those guys and go, man, what could
have been, you know, you got to give some credit
to some other players that that were like, hey, you
know he made it through and uh and it wasn't easy.
So uh but again great question probably RELANDA McClain because
I think talent wise, you know, David Irving was undrafted,
but that they missed NFL missed on that. I mean,
like he he you know, but he had off the
(22:01):
field issues that IOWA stayed and that's what kind of
let it off the field issues. That's that's what it
what it was. But good stuff, good really good question.
Let's got a break real quick on Cowboys story and
I'll be right back.

Labs official ballas Cowboys license a razor. It's truly the
best Cowboy fan can get. Gets yours Gellette dot com
slash NFL. All right back here on storyline, Let's go
to sergeant's do in Fort Worth. He's been waiting. Sorry, dude,
(24:31):
what's up?
Speaker 7 (24:32):
You're good?
Speaker 9 (24:32):
Brother Edie's everybody.
Speaker 10 (24:34):
Hey.
Speaker 9 (24:35):
I loved that last call and h the answer David Irving.
In my opinion, man, when you got you got a
guy like that on the defensive line, man, and he's
gonna take up to two, maybe three blockers, that's going
to help out these young guys, get some pass rush,
help out with your defense. But I also liked his
call because he was talking about being like a wet blanket,
and you know, he just thought that that Denver defense
(24:56):
was pretty good. I called in because I don't think
that Denver defense is very battle test. I think Dallas
Cowboys offense is far more battle tested this season, going
against you know, Eagles, Packers, Jets, still putting up thirty
forty points multiple times. Denver's defense looks elite on paper,
but when you look at it, you know they've played
against cam Ward and the Titans, Jake Browning filling up
(25:17):
for Joe Burrow. I mean, you know, New York is
New York, and these rookies are on fire, but they're
still rookies, you know what I mean. So I don't know, man,
as far as battle tested, as far as you know
what they actually are bringing to the table, they haven't
faced anybody like Dallas. And not to mention, not to mention,
Dallas has had a bunch of injuries on the offense.
Turpns down, no problem, see these down, no problem. Offensive
(25:39):
line shuffling around, no problem. That DK is making things happen.
The offense is making things happen. This offense is far
more battle tested than Denver's defense. And you're gonna see
it on Sunday. Dallas is gonna win thirty eight twenty seven.
All right, appreciate taking my car.
Speaker 13 (25:53):
Brothers.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
All right, good call, thank you, And you're right. I mean,
that just is what it is. I mean, it's we've played,
you know, a few games now, everyone's played six seven games.
But okay, I did it. Everyone has played six or
seven games, six seven. Man, there's nothing that there's nothing
that annoys me more than that. And honestly, that was
(26:15):
that was an actual slip there. But I can't. I
couldn't sneak that past my five year old. She would
she would definitely do that, she would that. That's why
I learned that this was even a thing but most
people have played uh, some of them have played six
some of them have played seven games, and uh, but
it's still relatively early to think what teams are. And
(26:38):
so I think you're right, Sergeant Sue that that that's
that's a really good point. Denver. You know, they they
they've played some some good teams, they've played some bad
teams and some bad quarterbacks. This will be a challenge
for them, just like it'll be a challenge for for
the Cowboys as well. So you know, they could probably
go to Denver, play home game, be looking at maybe
(26:58):
Cowboys coming up and gonna beat the Giant. They got
to play the Cowboys, and then all of a sudden,
these rookies came in there and and and it took
them a while to get going. And they got lucky
to win that game. There's no doubt about it. They
got lucky to win that game. But they did give
them credit for that sneaking past the Cowboys and looking, no,
that's not happening. We know that. So they're gonna get
the Cowboys will get their best, but I think Denver
(27:19):
will get you know, Dallas's best too. So it should
be a lot of fun, all right, Chris and San
Angelo is next.
Speaker 14 (27:26):
Hey, mister Nick, hope you're doing well today?
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Sure, how are you?
Speaker 14 (27:29):
I'm doing well? Thank you.
Speaker 7 (27:30):
Man.
Speaker 14 (27:31):
I like the the story you gave about the Jason
Witten thing because I get I get caught up in that.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (27:40):
I can do things that will change the outcome type
modes every once in a while.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Yeah, you know, it's kind of silly. Yeah, yeah, right.
Speaker 14 (27:49):
Quick quick story. The Saturday before the Carolina game, my
boss gave me his old TV and it was a
sixty inch you know, real nice.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
So he's on different pay skill than me, so usually
usually are whatever he got must have been something special
because this was nice. Anyway, we didn't put it up,
uh before the Carolina game, and.
Speaker 14 (28:18):
Yeah, exactly, okay, And we didn't put it up, and
so that game, you know, the defense you know, that
made me ill and I kept walking away and so
I'm like, okay, we got to change the scenery. So
me and my son put it up there. Well, my
son and I helped him put it up during the week, uh,
and then got on there and got it all the
(28:42):
wispects I've got to put together and boom. We watched
it in there against Washington. We all know what happened there.
So since I'm gonna watch it in there again, I'm
gonna say the Cowboys. I'm gonna trap for one more.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Week and then I'll change it doesn't.
Speaker 14 (28:57):
Work, but uh like I changed shirts three times in
the game sometimes. But I'm going to say thirty four
to thirty. And on that note, since I mentioned it,
do you know what's a good little player superstition or
any you know fan sucsten that you know about that?
Speaker 4 (29:17):
All right, I want to go on get into there.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Okay, let me just say this though, I would, I
would get that out of your head about the game
and whether it's whether because of the the TV or not.
You got a sixty inch TV that you got basically
for free. Put that up and watch it from there.
If they win, if they lose, and then it's not
because of that, keep that sixty inch TV and what
(29:42):
and watch it from there. Superstitions, the one that I
always think of for some reason is Patrick Craighton because
Patrick Creighton had to eat gummy worms or gummy fish
or whatever. And I remember being this sounds so bougie,
(30:03):
but we were in a limo in Oakland in o
five going to some some event. They used to send
the players and then we would go and do this
interview and then they would take us in a limo,
and so it's for I think it was the first
time I've ever been in a limo with Patrick Creighton,
and he was kind of freaking out because he didn't
have the gummy worms for this game, and I get
(30:26):
he figured it out, He got him and he scored
a touchdown in that game. I remember him scored long
touchdown in that game. So gummy worms, gummy fish, gummy whatever,
that was his deal. I don't know a lot others,
but that's that's one for sure that I always that
I always remember about, you know, superstitious stuff like that.
All right, let's go to Zach in Atlanta.
Speaker 20 (30:48):
Still, what's up, buddy, how you doing? I'm good man.
I was traveling last couple of weeks, so I hadn't
been able to call in. I was at a nine
hour time difference and still found a way to watch
the Cowboys whoop up on the Commanders. It felt great.
It was worth waking up at two am to do it.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
So nice.
Speaker 20 (31:07):
But before that I called before Carolina and said, I
don't think we're out of the woodworks yet. And obviously
we lost that game. And so I'm looking at this
game against the Broncos and the Cardinals next week. These
are two teams that I feel like they just are
a booger you can't flick. I don't know what it
is in my lifetime, but we just have not been
able to beat these guys, and so we got to
(31:31):
lock in. We gotta beat the Broncos, we got to
beat the Cardinals, and I'll be feeling a lot more
confident about this team. So I think this week, I
think we do beat the Broncos. It's time, man, We're
going to beat them thirty one to twenty seven. And
then my double agent for the week, who played for
(31:53):
the Star Near and Far. Shout out to Brian and
Kansas City for adopting the phrase, I respect your knowledge
of ball Brothers. You're awesome, all right. So double agent
for the Week, our buddy DeMarcus Ware. He's one of
my favorite Cowboys of all time. Obviously we think about
the Saints game where he just became a superhero, but
(32:13):
do you have any other stories on to Marcus Square?
And with that, I'll hang up. Go Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
All right, cool. Yeah, one of the one of the
best ever Cowboys and and Broncos, especially because you know,
I saw a picture I hadn't even seen before where
at the Hall of Fame where he's wearing his jacket
and Jerry he is like tugging him on this arm,
and then the Broncos owner forgot his name, but tugging
him on this arm, like you know, he's our guy.
(32:38):
He's our guy, you know, and and you know, well
it sounds kind of silly, like, you know, he's played
so many times here and he did. He did finish
his career officially with the Cowboys, but he goes up
to Denver a lot and they you know, they helped
him win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 21 (32:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Story wise, Oh man, there's so there's so many I
just remember with him his rookie year with the I
don't know what it's called. It's a big ring. It's
it's like the biggest hula hoop you've ever seen. And
they put it on the ground and it's a pass
rush drill and basically you're supposed to stay low and
(33:17):
touch the ground and run around this circle. And you know,
it's not the easiest thing to do because you got
to run fast, but you also got to get low.
But you know, and these other defensive ends are doing it,
and you know and Greg Ellis, oh yeah, it's pretty good.
And then d Ware does it and he just sprints
by it and it's like you knew right then, like okay,
this is this is different like that, And it took
(33:41):
them a little bit to get going. You know. That's
why I think, you know't don't close the door on
as a rock who just yet, because d Warre went
to Christmas Eve in his rookie year, hit four sacks
going into that game against Carolina. He got three in
that one game, all Fords fumbles, they all all in
Jake Diloman. They won the game. And then the next
week he got of the sack and tied Greg Elis
(34:01):
for the team lead with eight, and then of course
from there he just took off. But for a long time,
I mean, four sacks going into the second last game
of the year, I mean, you're not You're expecting more,
you know, So the light bulb kind of came on
with him. But man, from the start, he saw just
how quick he was and explosive. All right, Tony and
Waco what's up, Tony?
Speaker 13 (34:22):
Oh, how are we doing?
Speaker 8 (34:23):
Nick?
Speaker 10 (34:23):
Are we doing?
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Gentlemen?
Speaker 10 (34:26):
I'm okay, thank you, Rapkin? Uh more more just I
guess kind of a comment more than an actual question,
So I hope you'll indulge me for a couple of minutes.
I know, the talk of the town, you know, through
all of the cavilization has been how good the offense is,
and how we're not quite sold on the defense of
the Broncos, and how the quarter the one call not
battle tested, which I do think has some relevance here.
(34:48):
But kamya wet blanket. That's fine. I mean, i'd be
I bleed blue and silver. But I just cannot shake
a certain feeling of a certain I don't know, twenty
four team Super Bowl when.
Speaker 13 (35:01):
Peyton Manning had like ten thousand.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
Yards and eighty touchdowns and they.
Speaker 10 (35:07):
Were absolutely demolished by the Legion of Boom. And I
am not referring to Denver as the Legion of Boom.
I don't think anybody will review that again. But that's
my biggest fear, and that's all I really got. So
I guess still fret're talking about this legendick, But that's
that's that's my that's my fear. I mean, Denver is
(35:28):
a hard place to play. You know, we haven't won
there since ninety two. Granted we've only been there three
times because every eight year cycle, but I mean it.
I mean, if if we win, it'll it'll be twenty seven,
twenty four, twenty something, twenty one. I do not see us. Yeah,
you know from march up and down the field. And
(35:48):
that's this and I'll let you go.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
All right, all right, thank you today, Thanks for you
know what. It took me a second to kind of
figure out where you were going with that. I didn't
understand the Legion of boot reference. I get it now,
Peyton Manning that year when their offense was clicking, going nuts,
that they go and they met a defense that that
that really stifled. Okay, I get it. And and yeah,
I mean this could be that. But I don't know.
(36:14):
Did the Lesion of Boom give up thirty thirty one
points the week before to a couple of rookies, I
don't know. I mean, all I'm saying is is that
I don't think they're unbeatable. I mean, they they they
gave up some plays and their offense is you know,
they're they're a little bit flipped. They're kind of like
the Cowboys. I think their defense is good, their offense
(36:35):
is not as good as their defense. Same same here, U.
It's the the gap is probably wider here for the
Cowboys as far as how good their offense is compared
to their defense, and how good vers defenses compared to
their offense. Still, games take on a life for their own.
We'll see what happens when when the bullets start flying.
(36:56):
You know, I get that this is going to be
a tough game. Cowboys are not fa to win. This
isn't a place that we've ever, you know, seen them win.
A lot of people haven't ever seen them win here,
and so yeah, it's a different it's a different thing.
But you know, it all comes down to can can
the Cowboys move the ball up and down the field,
score points, get touchdowns and not field goals. That's gonna
(37:17):
be the key. They're gonna get inside the red zone, Dude,
they score if they score some touchdowns and don't have
to settle for field goals. And I think that they
they're gonna be really hard to beat. Let's go to
one more breakcare on Cowboys thoring on be right back.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
All right, welcome back to Cowboys storyline. I got a
few more minutes before we wrap this show up. Wrap
up the week four Cowboys take on Denver. This has
got Dylan in Northport, Florida. Dylan's up.
Speaker 8 (38:52):
How's it going?
Speaker 23 (38:53):
Man?
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Good? How are you?
Speaker 10 (38:55):
I'm good?
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Hey?
Speaker 15 (38:55):
Do you think this was a week where we get
some geomb runs from Javonte?
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Yeah? I need to do that. There's been a couple.
There's been a couple. Yeah. Uh, I mean he's had
one and I have tweeted that out a couple of times.
But uh yeah, I mean it's got to be. This
has got to be one where he's gonna be He's
gonna be running violently. He's got to hang on to
the football too. I know he's fumbled once, but this
is one of those when you're running and you're getting
extra yards and fighting for yards and all that, they're
(39:21):
gonna be poking at the ball. So yeah, this is
gonna be. This gonna be one where he's got to
be hanging on to the football too. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (39:27):
Maybe if he explodes this week will start calling him Gambhi,
Get off me.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
Buddy all day.
Speaker 15 (39:33):
But with that said, you know, if if the run
game is not working on early downs, I don't want
to see us just stick with it just to try
to establish it. I don't want to get into these
third and lungs over and over. So I'm not gonna
be afraid to go out. And also, you know, throw
this thing downfield. Even with with Patrick out there playing corner. Yeah,
I don't care if he's covering CD chickens out it.
I really don't care. This could be a game where
(39:54):
Turpin does something really nice for you. There's too many
weapons offensively, I know they've got to good defense, but yeah,
I see the Cowboys winning this game. Bol prediction in
honor of the six seven. Aubrey's gonna nail a sixty
seven yard field goal at the end of the first half.
And I think this is going to be one of
those weird, like weird score game, maybe even a score
of go say thirty two to twenty six Cowboys all right?
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Like it? I like it a lot.
Speaker 21 (40:18):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Along those lines I think that I would, you know,
you get the ball whenever the first drive is, if
you get the ball first or whatever, I bet they
do I bet they get the ball first. I bet
that they don't win the toss, Broncos will get it
and defer, and I think the Cowboys will probably stay.
That's the way I see it. First play of the game,
I would, you know, probably play action or whatever, and
(40:43):
I would whether it's pickings or CD whatever, I'm throwing
it deep at certain certain I'm throwing it deep, going
right down the right, down the field with him, whatever
the coverage, you know, if if it as long as
the safety is not just sitting there camping out, which
you know, I doubt it. I mean, if the safety's
back there camp out where Certain is, then then not
they're not doing it right as far as I'm concerned.
(41:05):
But I'm a throw to right at him first play
of the game. I just and if it's incomplete, it's incomplete.
If it's picked off, well it's picked off, it should
be down the field a little bit. But I think
that's that. That's you know, you always want to send
a message. That would be the message I would send,
and like, hey you're a great player. We got great
players too. Let's go and see, you know, see what happens,
(41:26):
you know, and then if if you catch it and
you make a play on it, and you have to
be careful too, just because you just because you throw.
I mean, we saw that right with Deron Bland. We
saw with Trayvon Diggs a couple of years before that
that some teams would would make plays on them and
then they keep throwing and guess what goes the other way?
So you gotta be careful. Great corners are great corners.
But I think from a message standpoint, they're not afraid
(41:48):
of you guys. They're not afraid of this guy. We're
not afraid of anybody. Yeah, we wanted to, we wanted
to draft them, you know, but didn't. It didn't work out.
But that meaning that you're gonna be afraid of them,
I think they need to go right at them, all right.
Rick in Massachuset, Trick, what's up? Hey?
Speaker 12 (42:02):
Nick?
Speaker 2 (42:02):
Good? How are you?
Speaker 21 (42:04):
And basically gonna I would go with Irving myself, but
great calls, but I started, but soon a few other people.
Why is going off with Casey? But score is gonna
be thirty three to twenty eight? All right, got a
few of those, have a good weekend and go come.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
Boys, all right, thank you? All right, good stuff, Shelby
and Virginia had that same score thirty three to twenty eight.
Going with thirty three, I think I went thirty three
to twenty one. That could be wrong with that, It
could be closer than this. I just I don't know.
I just kind of feel like this is gonna be
the week the Cowboys kind of really put it on them.
(42:43):
And if that happens, if the Cowboys win this game,
I think, you know, there's gonna be a lot of
flowers going go in this direction. If they win by
two scores. You know, all those guys that talk a
lot and you know who they are, it's gonna be hard.
It's gonna be hard to just to talk, you know,
down about this team. You know, if they go up
to Denver and win a game. This is a big game.
(43:04):
This is the This is the kind of game where
it's like, all right, what kind of team do you
want to be? Do you want to beat these teams
you're supposed to beat, or do you want to go
on the road and win a game you know that
that you're not, you're not favored to win. Got to
go up there and win this game. So I'm looking
forward to it. I think It's going to be fun,
all right. Greg in Sacramento.
Speaker 12 (43:23):
Hey, good morning, Nick.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
How you doing good? How are you?
Speaker 12 (43:26):
I'm doing well.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
You know.
Speaker 12 (43:28):
It's funny. My first and only game I've ever got
to go to at Cowboy Stadium was in November twenty
twenty one and we were playing the Denver Broncos. And
in that game, if yeah, it was a rough day.
We lost like thirty to sixteen. I think it was
a final score. Yeah, And what was crazy was Javonte
(43:50):
Gravantai Williams was just running all over us that game.
He was and yeah, and I mean I was excited
to be there, you know, because it was my first
time at the stadium and stuff. And my brothers were
giving me kind of grief, telling me that loves stuff
because I went and they lost so bad. But I'm
kind so I'm kind of looking forward to hopefully this
would be a good revenge game for me anyway as
(44:12):
a fan. Hopefully the Cowboys can get some little revenge
for me on these Broncos.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
You know.
Speaker 12 (44:16):
Also my boss is the Broncos sy so it'd be
great to be able to have some brag reights on Monday.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
So yeah, be careful when you do it, you know
what I mean, because you might get an assignment or
of three that you don't like, you know, so just
say it is act like you act like you've been there,
even though you haven't. You haven't seen them right before. Yeah,
all right, right, uh, And I just.
Speaker 12 (44:43):
Want to give a quicks Core production thirty I think
it's gonna be thirty four to twenty one Cowboys. And
then if I could just a really quick question about
the defense, do you think we'll see more of what
we saw against the Commanders? Because I thought, I thought
you had a great, great plan. He played a lot
more man and stuff like that, and I just want
to see if you think he'll do more the same.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
Well, all right, thanks for the call. You know, I
think you know, and Ebra Flu said it yesterday. You know,
it's it's always matchup driven. I mean, everything's matchup. So
percentage wise, you know, it was it was a little
bit fifty to fifty. As far as zoning and Man,
you might see more or less of that. You know,
different type of quarterback obviously, but they both can run.
(45:25):
And then and you know Nicks he's got a little
bit more playmakers at receiver as well. So I think
I think you'll see, you know, and we'll see how
the game kind of flows too. Remember the Cowboys took
a two score lead right before halftime. They are led
by three scores, you know, in most of the second half.
So that kind of changes your your plan a little bit.
(45:46):
But whatever it is, it's got to be mixing it
up and it's got to keep you know, bo Nicks
on his toes a little bit. All right, let's go
Blair in Virginia. Last call, Blair, what's up.
Speaker 7 (45:54):
Hey, Nick?
Speaker 23 (45:55):
Great to be on the show. Look, I'm going to
implement my thirty second offense with this call and try
to hit a bunch of stuff. So the comment I
have is I love Shoddy as a coach. I love
the job he's doing. But a lot of people have
praised him for talking to Eberflus before last week. We
saw this coming a long time ago. It's like to me,
(46:16):
it was he needed to do that earlier. So just
keep moving in that direction. But I'm not praising the
timing on that quick memory on Denver. The last time
we won in Denver, I was with my wife picking
out Christmas trees. I had a radio listening to the
game and trying to act like I was in the
Christmas spirit while I was on the edge of my seat.
(46:39):
I'm glad she's still stuck with me after all that.
My prediction is Denver Dallas over Denver thirty three point thirty.
With a question. I'm picturing a broad An Aubrey field
goal at the end to win it. So my question
or thought provoking question is when Brandon breaks the record.
(47:00):
I'm not sure he will this week. I hope he does.
But when he breaks that record, would you rather be
at home or would you rather be on the road?
And I'll let it go at that and a word
a shout out to Shelby for his question yesterday. Drive
safely on the way home today. But I would have
Sean Lee for intelligence as my defensive player, charged Charles
Haley for pure entertainment and for offense. I agree with
(47:22):
you herschel Walker's your best chance.
Speaker 10 (47:24):
That's all.
Speaker 23 (47:24):
I got to have a great weekend, go cowboy. You
and Chris are the greatest.
Speaker 5 (47:28):
Take care all.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Right, thank you, thank you for the call. I whatever
I mean, if he's going to break the record, I
mean it doesn't really matter. I to be honest, I
would rather it not be Denver because then it would
always be kind of aske wise, like, well, of course
he did it in Denver, you know, sixty seven of it.
You know, I'd do it over here and there. So
it doesn't matter. I mean, if it happens, it's not
(47:50):
like they don't. I mean they play there every other week,
you know, for years, and so it's not like everyone's
doing it, you know. I mean, I think there is
a couple in the sixties, but it's not like it
happens all the time. You gotta be accurate too, can't
just be kicking it. You gotta be accurate. So it
really won't matter. I think it'll be cool if it
was a meaningful kick. I think the sixty six yard
(48:10):
or that that uh that Tucker has for for the Ravens.
I think it was meaningful, right, it won the game.
It also bounced over to indoors, So yeah, how about
an outdoor kick that goes right through and to win
the game. All right, let's go, Uh, one more caller,
I said last caller, but we do have one More's
go Sheriff Lonnie. Sheriff Lonnie in Kansas.
Speaker 5 (48:35):
Yes, how are you doing? It's been a while.
Speaker 21 (48:37):
Since I got in.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Yeah, how are you doing.
Speaker 5 (48:40):
I'm doing well, just just enjoying. Listen to all you
guys and listen to your show. And and I continued
listening to it all all year. And Cowboys, you know,
I've been through the I've been through the one to fifteen,
(49:00):
you know, and this team is is. It can be frustrating,
but we knew this is how it could possibly go
this year. But I think I think they showed a
little fire last week, and hopefully they show more this week.
And I think they're gonna be fine. I think they're
(49:25):
gonna win this week. I think they're gonna lay if
the Giants and two rookies can lay that many points
on them. Token our offense, it's the best offense out there.
And Shot he's doing an awesome job. I used to
watch his dad coach the Chiefs and I liked him.
Then he just struggled when it came to the big game.
But other than that, Shot he's good. I liked him.
(49:49):
I like to pick from the very beginning. I wasn't
mad about it like a lot of other people. And
they're getting on the bandwagon now. I was there before
it started, but they're gonna they're gonna win this one
thirty seven twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
All right, I like it, all right, Sheriff.
Speaker 5 (50:09):
I'm right, I'm with you. Go at certain right away,
go right at it. Continue not you got cdee lamb
more pickings whoever's on him? Yeah, yeah, you know you
got two of the best.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
So all right, Well we'll see if that's all, if
that happens, all right, sheriff, appreciate that. Thanks for the call.
I can't I can't rush the sheriff off the line, right,
I mean, we are kind of pressed against it. It's
good to hear from him. It's been a while. Sheriff
Lonee in Kansas. Uh, he says, he agrees with me.
Go right at cirtain boy, that could be famous last words.
But one night, you can't be scared. You gotta go
(50:41):
up there and play. They're gonna bring it. Cowboys need
to bring it as well. It should be a lot
of fun. Can't wait to talk about it on Monday.
See if the cowboys see if all these thirty three
predictions are correct. I know that that's gonna be mine.
Let's see if the Cowboys can go and win for
the first time. Up in Denver in thirty three years.
Sure will be a lot of fun to talk about
it on Monday for Chris Beam, Nick Eatman, See it
(51:03):
on Monday Cowboy storyline.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
