Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
He is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
This He's Cowboys storyline with Nick Eatman. What is up?
Welcome back guys? It is Cowboys storyline. I am Nick Eatman.
It's Wednesday, March nineteenth. March nineteenth makes me sad. It's
my oldest daughter's birthday. She's eighteen years old. My god,
(00:35):
I can't can't do it. Sorry, I can't do that.
Can't believe she's eighteen today. She's the one that kind
of helped me come up with a name Cowboys storyline
when we were when we were bouncing around different names,
and so she helped me with that. I don't know
if she's ever listened, but she got our own stuff
going on. But she's on spring break, eighteen years old.
(00:55):
I can't believe I have an eighteen year old, all right,
I was speaking of eighteen nineteen. How many guys have
the Cowboys signed since it started? I think it's twenty one, actually,
eleven of their own players, ten new guys. Pretty active
so far. Not the big splash that I think everyone
(01:15):
was hoping for, or still you know, maybe there's it's
still out there. But they've definitely been active. They they've
made moves, They've made a couple of trades here, they've
signed some guys, put some band aids on some positions.
That's kind of what happens in free agency. And so
I think, you know, from that standpoint, in my opinion,
it's been somewhat positive. We can talk about it to
(01:37):
you guys. Eight eight eight five five two two nine seven.
I'll see how you guys think that. You know, it's
gone in your mind, but I think it's been pretty
good so far. We'll see how things go in the
next few days or so. All right, let's go to
the phone Lineslet's start us off here. Carolina. He's on
the road. He's in Marshall, Texas. Every what's going on, man,
(02:02):
how are you?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
I'm doing wonderful, man, I'm kind of kind of a
little excited. We got back Downthee Filling. I think that
was a pretty decent edition, so, you know, gave me
something smile about. We got a couple of questions for
you today, Bud. And happy birthday to your daughter, man,
Thank you so much, appreciate it. I have I have
an eighteen year old authors. She's nineteen now yeah, hey man,
(02:27):
it's they're different. Man, I had I don't care nobody
to say though. I like it when they're this age
between nineteen eighteen and twenty other than thirteen and fifteen. Hey,
that that stage right there is Ralph? So you made
may it do the hard part? Man? It's too hard part?
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:48):
We have more football. So what do you think about
the Sam Born signing versus.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
The Murray signing?
Speaker 3 (02:57):
What? What? What?
Speaker 5 (02:58):
What is?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
What do you get out of because I think, yeah,
one player has more feelings. I think that Murray is
going to be your floor guy. He coming, you know,
he do these tackles. He's I'm gonna say a machine.
But I mean he had the highest amount of tackles
for his team last year. So that's something that I
look forward to. But I think that with Sandboard he
(03:20):
has more rooms to develop.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
What do you think?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
I think that they are from what I've seen about
and heard about both of them, they're kind of like
almost opposite in that one guy, Murray is more of
a fly around the ball, make a lot of tackles,
but he's also a guy that that's a little bit undersize.
You can run at so you got to make sure
he doesn't get the you know, the tackles and guards
(03:46):
you know, engaged in him too much and locked down
on him because he can get kind of you know,
bullied out of the way, but just off his size.
But he is productive. Sanborn's a little bit more bigger
guy now flies around, doesn't fly around as much, but
also is a is a pretty good tackler as well. Bigger,
(04:06):
stronger guys. So I think that both of them will
complement each other pretty well.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Okay, so my next question, right with all the signers,
where do you think that that twelve spot is gonna be?
What position are you thinking now? Because they've added different
position groups and they've tried to you know, shure up.
I say linebacker because man got a couple, got wos aar,
(04:33):
got some running backs, and we got a corner. So
where where would your mindset be? Don't say received, because
I mean that would be the obvious game.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
That's not that that wouldn't be my my answer, my
answer when I look at the at the positions on
this team. Uh, well, for strong, I'll answer that. What's
your answer? Because I know if you ask the question,
that means you've got the answer. What is your opinion there, Carolina.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
I'm mean.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
People going to say I'm probably crazy, but I think
if if if Jess's there at twelf you take cify.
But if he's not there, I'm looking at a straight
back scenario and honestly, it's between corner or wow, I
receive it. I really can't decide. That's why I said,
what what would you? What would your best be?
Speaker 1 (05:23):
All right, well, I appreciate it. We're going to keep
the lines moving here and we might Thanks for the call, Carolina.
We might. I'm just gonna say, might have surprise today,
surprise visitor. But that's all I want to say, because
you never know, doesn't always pan out, but if so,
just be ready. But my answer to that would be,
(05:43):
you know, when I look at all the positions on
this team, we're we're what position has that Pro bowler
at least at some point in their career, and the
one position that I don't see that is offensive tackle,
defense of tackles another But you just signed Osa to
a twenty million a year contract. He hasn't made a
(06:05):
Pro Bowl yet, but you're expecting that he will, or
you're expecting that he's going to be that kind of player,
your safety's they haven't made a Pro Bowl, but I
think you know that they both got second contracts and
so or extensions. They should be fine there. You know,
linebacker I guess hasn't had one either, but again, you've
(06:28):
made moves there. Offensive tackle is one that I just
think that you know, where can you where can you
be great? And I'm fine with the running back if
it's gent, I'm fine with that. I've seen some other
running back I guess from North Carolina Hampton. Now we're
getting crazy in here throwing another back and there. I
don't know about that for that for that spot at twelve,
(06:48):
I like that tackle guard, combo player. I'd be fine
if it was a defensive tackle or even an edge rusher,
I'm fine with that. You can't have to make any
of those. So I just think free agency has helped
them kind of put some positions in place, and then
they can go and do what they always do and
(07:10):
you try to take the best player and not really
have to reach for need or whatever. I think last year,
you know, they they did have to get an offensive
tackle when Tyler geydon, and but I think I think
you know they're going to be in a spot where
they can really take the best player, and they do
have a lot of needs, so I like, I like
where they stand right now. All right, let's go to
Irene and Falls Church, Virginia.
Speaker 7 (07:32):
Hey, good morning morning.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
How are you do well?
Speaker 8 (07:35):
I just caught on when you said that's a surprise visit.
So I don't know what you're talking about, but whatever
it is, it sounds like something I want, so let's
get it. Anyway, I was going to ask you, so
I was born in nineteen eighty six. I know that
the nineteen eighty three season was important to you, but
I'm wondering if you were about to hit the anniversary
(07:58):
of the debut of Michael Jackson and Moonwalk. I don't
know if you saw that lot like either live or
around the time it came, but I have never seen
quite the homage to it, like to Marcus Lawrence backtracking
on his comment. Anyway, I'll leave that there.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
All right.
Speaker 8 (08:15):
So the actual point of my call I was wondering
was like, where are you going there?
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Okay, we're gonna we're doing the tank We're going to
do the tank stuff. You know what, I'm gonna ask
a question because you're kind of the you know, you're
you're the level headed, you know, uh, person of the group.
You know, you kind of get of this group caretaker,
(08:39):
you know, And uh, what is your thoughts on DeMarcus
Lawrence there? And what what? Because I really don't know
what all I've seen stuff on on social media, but
I don't know what everyone's opinion of what happened. And
and then then the backtrack and all that good stuff.
Speaker 8 (08:56):
Okay, Yeah, So for me honestly had me laughing. I
get it, like there're a lot of us fans also
feel like we're far away from a super Bowl, So
I know that. I feel like some of that was
people feeling like, okay, but I can talk about my family,
but you can't talk about it, right. But for me,
it just had me laughing because the implication of the
(09:19):
Seahawks being where he could chase the Super Bowl. I mean,
I'm sorry, but if somebody is further away than us,
it's probably them. But so I didn't take great offense
at it. But the back and forth between Micah and
him I liked. And I will say I know people
got on micro for you know, airing it out.
Speaker 9 (09:39):
I like it.
Speaker 8 (09:40):
I want somebody if they feel offended, like the brotherhood
the team was attacked. I'm fine with that. Go like
be a leader, be that leader. Yeah, yeah, that part
I really liked. But anyway, it's it is what it is.
I do wish him the best. I don't really big
grudge him for what he said. It's fine, just funny.
But my call was going to be about, uh, if
(10:03):
you think that we're going to make a move at
wide receiver, if there's any talk in the building about that. Yeah,
I know there's some decent ones in the draft that
we might be in position to get, but just wondering
if we'll fill that hole. Like you get the sense
they're waiting a little longer to see if Keenan Allen
or somebody price gets lower.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, that's all right, thanks, Irene. You know, I do
think that there were some interest on the Cooper Cup front. Now,
you know, it was always going to be it's always
about the money, And yes, I think that they had interest,
but they knew that he was going to probably you know,
(10:45):
command a lot more money than that, and it was
going to be out of there their price range. Was
it a fit? Yeah? I think I think it was
to them. So when you say all that, it's just
kind of like the dra greenlaw stuff. Okay, there was
there was interest there, they almost had them, they thought
they did, didn't work out, now what I mean, obviously
they're trying to get a linebacker. So that's where we
(11:07):
saw what happened after that and them signing Samborn and
trading for Murray and all that. But but you know,
it's same with with you know, running backs or you know,
any any of these other positions that they look like
they almost had. There's obviously a need there for that
type of players. So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if
there's another move there. I don't know of one right now.
(11:29):
I'm not sandbagging here, and I don't have anything for you,
but I do believe that that that is something that
there was some interest, and I think they would try
to to bring back I mean, or to bring a
veteran receiver in here. I say bring back. I was
thinking of Brandon Cooks. They've already given his number away
actually but number three, but it could still come back.
(11:51):
He's played, you know before, but I on many different numbers,
many different teams. I just don't think though, that that's
that's where where they're headed there. But that doesn't mean
that they're not going to try to get a veteran receiver.
All right, let's go to Davion in Illinois.
Speaker 7 (12:09):
What it do?
Speaker 1 (12:10):
What it do?
Speaker 10 (12:11):
Man?
Speaker 6 (12:11):
What's going on? I'm doing well, well, you know, just
getting our work. But hey, I got in this week. Man,
it was it was a struggle last week, but happy
to get on this week.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Uh you got it.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
Yeah. So I guess the Twitter streets was up blaze
with Michael Parter's brother yesterday kind of dropping tea leaves
that we might be having a deal pretty soon with
with Michael. So I don't know. I mean, I'm just
I'm hoping that my prediction is coming true. We'll see,
(12:49):
uh what time will tell. But I predicted. I told
Dylan and all of them that, uh, we're gonna sign,
We're gonna sign Michael early, that we're not gonna play
around with this and we're gonna go and get them
done because two years of dragons about it didn't make
any sense.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah. I do think I don't know what's going on.
I don't know what he was doing and how much
he's in the know. I really don't know him, Michael's brother.
I don't know that. I know that it seems like
he's trying to have some fun on social media and
this is maybe his moment as well. I don't know.
I do know this, It's it's not close. I do
(13:30):
think that there's some movement. I'll say that I think
there's movement. But in the deal like this, it's gonna
take a lot more of the heavy negotiating. And I
don't know if they're even there yet, but I do
think the ball is rolling. I don't know how fast
it is rolling, but I think that there's some some
discussion charity. It could be a sooner than later thing.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Okay, well, come up. Question, I'm gonna get off. What
of the free to sign of the outsid guy? If
you are more excited about the kind of see how
they feel with the team, And do you think we're
probably going to get signed a wide receiver, a nose
tackle before draft?
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Yeah, I just think numbers wise with or an offensive
defensive tackle. Yes, I think you have to. I mean
you don't have a lot of depth there at all.
Now I don't know exactly how they're going to play.
Was it Solomon Thomas. I mean he's been an end
and tackle. He's probably going to be a tackle. I
(14:33):
think that they do need a nose tackle, somebody with
some one technique type. I could see that. And also,
like I said in the previous call, I do think
a wide receiver is going to be added to the
group here, probably a veteran, but nobody that would stop
them from drafting a receiver at twelve if that's where
they want to go, And that really might be the
(14:54):
play here. It might be a twelve a wide receiver
because you know, you don't know, but you've got it
with your number two receiver. And I'm thinking of like
the next year and moving on, moving forward. Even if
you sign a guy, that doesn't mean he's going to
be here next year. Jalen Tolbert might not be here
next year. And you know, don't look now, but ceedee
(15:15):
Lamb's one year.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
Meet Ted McMillan. I'm I'm I'm on the tech train now.
Either give him genty at twelve for me, but we'll
see how I play out.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
All right. But I haven't seen him play a lot,
have you, McMillan, I haven't. I really can't say i've
watched him.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Watching I've been watching tape since we kind of he's back.
He's kind of falling to use. At first, I didn't
think he was gonna make it to him because he
was you know, six five. You just can't teach that,
so they usually don't last long in the draft. But
since he's kind of falling back to us, he ran
a four or five the other day, I'm thinking maybe
we might he might we might have a chance at it,
because now they talking about genty might be gone, but
(15:54):
we'll see.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Okay, well, I mean that would be that would be
a definitely a big time playmaker. And and you know,
and I think any quarterback that's you know, jumping into
the mix or any other you know, players that that
that's what happens. These guys are moving up and down
the board. And you know that's been talked about so
much on on you know which guys are going to
(16:14):
get drafted and who's going to fall and who's going
to move up. And and you know, a guy like
mc millan, who, again I haven't seen him play a lot,
but I know that the guys that have and you
are one of them, really like his game. And and
just he's got those characteristics that, like you said, can't
can't be taught. So I'd be fine with that. At receiver,
(16:36):
I've kind of I've changed my tune a little bit
because of free agency. Just looking at needs and how
much you know where things can really help you. I'd
be I'd be fine if if if that was to
play there at twelve? All right, got anything else? Davian
oh Man?
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Just nothing much excited about getting up bit of ox
in the summer. All right, next week, give me.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
All right, that's gonna be fun for sure. All right,
let's go to Dylan Northport, Florida. Dylan, what's up?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
And Nicko's gone?
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Good? How are you?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
I'm good man. Just a quick and easy question for
who do you think would have been more difficult to replace?
Would you have tried to sign Jordan Lewis over Osa
if you had to choose between the two of them?
Or do you think the Cowboys kind of got got
it right here with Osa over Jordan Lewis? And I
know they made offers to Jordan try to keep them,
(17:31):
but it just wasn't enough. Who would you rather have
kept in that scenario?
Speaker 1 (17:36):
I would have rather kept Osa honestly, And I say
that not because that's the move they made. It's because
when you think about the position that they play, and
also just where they are in their career. I mean,
like you're getting a guy in in OSA for what
four or five more years? For sure, he's I mean
it's a four year deal, but he's gonna be here
(17:58):
now for the for the majority of his career. As
for Jordan, you know, he was signing one year deals
and now I got a basically got like a two
year deal with Jacksonville. But you know, there's not a
lot of future there, and there's nobody else on the
roster that can kind of do what OSA does. They
do believe that Duron Bland can play some slot if
(18:19):
they if they need to, and you know that that'll
be a position that they They're going to keep looking
at slot corner, who can slide inside If it's not
Duron Bland, who can play on the outside, So there's
still a need there. It's a good question, Dylan, It's
a really good question because it's closer than I think
people would think. But my answer would be OSA, what's
your answer?
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Okay, Yeah, I have the opposite, and I get what
you're saying. I think the age plays a huge factor
in it. When you throw that in, then I could
one hundred percent see the OSA angle personally in the
way I would want to run my defense, and knowing
that we just got our asses kicks and against the run,
just a year after year after year, I'm looking to
really beef up and kind of rebuild the middle of
that defensive line. And I feel like having a really,
(19:01):
really really good pass rushing free technique is more of
a luxury. Given you have Micah Parsons and some other guys,
you're thinking you can take a step in that department
off the edge. I think signing OSA is more of
a luxury. Even though they got a deal, it was
a good deal and all that, I feel like you
would have created a hole there. You don't have a
lot of bodies, and that's fine, I understand that. I
(19:23):
feel like you did the same thing at corner though
You've created a knee there and sure Blant can slide inside,
but now who's going to play outside? Because you're gonna
be without digs for a while, at least for twenty
twenty five. Don't have to draft a guy or sign
a guy know Sante Sanuel is still out there, so
I mean, either way, you're creating a hole. And I
just I feel like Jordan Lewis brought an attitude that
(19:46):
a lot of US fans kind of have been asking for,
Like I don't f with me attitude, and I don't
think there's a lot of guys on the team. I
know it's an intangible it's tough to say, but I
feel like Jordan was the leader of that kind of
ball club of the don't mess with me alongside like
Jake Ferguson and then and I appreciate that intangible quality.
But yeah, I would have tried to have kept Jordan
because he you could say, he's probably a top five
(20:08):
nickel cornerback in the league and Osa is what maybe
a top top ten to top fifteen three technique in
the league, pronomenantly because of his past rushing assets. So
I would have kept Jordan personally, all right, I.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Mean that's fair. You know, Durability is another factor. Obviously,
Jordan Lewis has been banged up some. He's tough as nails.
I mean, he's one of my favorite players now of
all time of covering the Cowboys. Jordan Lewis, I say that,
and so I want to make sure that that's clear
before you know, it sounds like I have a different
(20:40):
agenda there. I actually really enjoy enjoyed covering him because
he's he's just a straight shooter, There's no doubt about it.
I mean, he's just you know, it is what it
is with him, and I think this team needs that
now Osa from a leadership standpoint, I think OSA has
got that as well. I mean, I don't know if
(21:03):
they're exactly the same from a personality standpoint, but they are.
You know, he's he's a pretty good guy in that
locker room. That that that the young guys can look
up to. And I don't think he's missed a game
in four years. I could be wrong with that, back,
I don't think so. I don't think he's missed a game.
So the position that he plays right there in the trenches,
(21:25):
that's a good that you know, that's obviously a good
sign you want that. And I think just over the
next four or five years, I mean, Ebra Flues came
in and you know, he he talked about what he
wanted from his defense and and he loved Osa from
the from the good go. So I think that was
always gonna kind of be the case there if it
came down to one or the other. But you know,
(21:47):
I'm sure they wanted to keep both. It just didn't
It shouldn't work.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
You know.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I kind of respect the fact that the Cowboys have
a number in mind for these players. There's a lot
of guys that that they like. I mean, they like
green Law, they liked Cooper Cup, they liked you know,
Rico O'Donnell, they like Jordan Lewis, all that stuff. But
here's the number, and if it goes higher than that,
then then they're going to say, you know, it doesn't
work out. And so that's that's kind of where where
(22:13):
things stood and with Jordan Lewis, and you know, it
just they weren't willing to go up from that. They
have they have a plan, obviously, and that's they have
to get a lot of things done, and they have.
They've signed a lot of players. But I think if
you keep going over what your budget is, then you know,
obviously it kind of wrecks the plan a little bit.
All right, let's go to Lester and Minnesota. How you doing, Lester?
Speaker 7 (22:39):
I'm doing good man, Hey, I'm just to comment on
what Dylan was talking about. I played corner in high school,
so but you know I'm the offensive line and defensive
line guys. Yeah, tough for me. I was trying to
decide which one too. But we have to stop the
run man, or you know, we.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Just have to.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
I like Lewis a lot as well. I like his
attitude and all that, but we got to stop Devin.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I mean, you got yeah.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
So and as far as us the twelfth pick, now
that we've gotten a shoe free agents in there, I
still say go with the Boise State guy running back
if he's there, but if not, trade back and get
some more picks. One more thing, I go to church
(23:35):
on Wednesday night, so I'm not able to get on
the Twitter thing. But I don't even know how to
get on Twitter. I don't have any social media or anything.
So how do I get on that? If because I
heard someone say that they were on real late one time,
so I can get on a little later. But I
don't even know how to get on that because I
don't have any social media. I'm a dinosaur man. But
(23:57):
do you know how to get on that or whatever
it is?
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yeah, that's it. I mean, you have to get on
the Twitter or whatever it is. It's the it's the
it's called X now, and so you'd have to sign
up that. That's that's at least my understanding. If to
sign up for for that, get an account. I think
Rob from Vegas was the same way as far as
you know, he hadn't got gotten on it, but then
he got an account. You know, you have, just like
(24:24):
maybe Facebook or whatever, you sign up for for X
and UH and then from there that's where they'll they'll
they'll find you for sure, but but uh, you know
you would then you just join the community it's called
Cowboys Storyliners, and then they'll they'll tell you what time
it is and when you get on there, it'll say
(24:45):
your group is going live. And it's really not that hard.
I've I've kind of figured it out as well. But
the number one thing would be signing up for for
uh X. I hate calling it that. It's Twitter. It's
still Twitter, so just call it Twitter. But but sign
up for that and then from there they I bet you,
(25:07):
the Irenes and Dylan's of the world will find you
and and make sure that you're in the right spot.
Speaker 7 (25:13):
All right, all right, Well, that's all I have, Nick Man,
you have a great day, all right, and until offensive
defensive line. This is what we got.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
All right, sounds good, Thank you. I don't know why
I just pictured Lester to be an offensive line or
defensive line type guy.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
I mean, if that's that's where your passion is, of course,
but I actually appreciate that even more. He's a cornerback,
play cornerback in high school. Still knows the value of
the guys up front. I dropped his Twitter name there
for you. Needs to be what's Lester Lester the line guy? Okay,
(25:53):
all all read together there. I wasn't sure what I
was reading there. Leicester the line, Lester the line guy.
Yeah yeah, Lester Line about line, Lester lined Leicester line.
All right, let's keep it going here. We've got Dallas
Dan he's calling from Missouri. What's that may?
Speaker 10 (26:11):
Hey? Har are you good?
Speaker 1 (26:13):
How are you doing?
Speaker 10 (26:15):
I'm doing well. I'm a longtime fan of you, Nick.
I followed you around and all the shows. You're the best.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Well, thank you so much. Hey, first time caller, you
know what that means?
Speaker 10 (26:25):
I get the bell? All right, all right, what do
you got for us? I've got two questions. One wide receiver,
second player? What about Gallup? What's the latest with him?
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Okay?
Speaker 10 (26:42):
And number two if they move the center to guard?
What centers are available in the draft?
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Okay, that's a good those are good questions? Are anything
else or I'll answer off the air.
Speaker 10 (26:58):
Okay, all right, I appreciate it, thank thank you, all.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Right, I appreciate you joining the show there, Dallas, Dan
and uh first time collared in and out quick. That's
good stuff. All right. Gallup with the first question, I
think that you know he's he's thrown it out there.
He would like to get back in the game, and
they've I know, he had to work out. I believe
(27:26):
in Washington he's looked at some other teams. The Cowboys
have had some interest. I think they have an offer
on the table. It's not going to be for a
lot of money. It's just like a prove it deal.
I think the balls in his court now to see
if this is really what he's trying to do. You know,
there's always a thought when you retire you don't for
whatever the reason, you don't, you don't have it in
(27:47):
you anymore. And then when you come back, it's all right,
Why did you retire? Is whatever? Those thoughts are they
gone or they is it back?
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Is?
Speaker 1 (27:55):
It is the hunger there and we've seen it happen.
We've seen guys come back and and you know, and
and still you know, still have have some left in
the tank. But I think this is more about does
Michael Gallup want to play football? And if so, you know,
is he is he going to be good enough to
play football? So I think the Cowboys, you know, being
(28:16):
a team that drafted him and had him here for
six years, I think that there was certainly some interest
if that's what he's trying to do. But I mean,
he's going to have to kind of prove it and
show that what he could do. I know he met
with some people in Washington that just that hasn't happened
yet or is probably not going to happen. So don't
know exactly where things stand with him. He's he's if
(28:37):
he wants to play football, he's gonna probably get the
opportunity to do that. He's just gonna, you know, like
I said, the ball is going to be uh in
his court. And then your next question about guard and
center and moving bebe potentially to center. I mean to guard.
If you did that, you have to have an option
at center. I mean like you have to have. It's
(28:57):
because you're trying to get your five best players. So
I think they have a better shot at finding guards
than they would finding another center. And looking at what
they've done, obviously, Tyler Smith's your left guard. That's a
Pro Bowl, All Pro type player. He's there. He's not moving,
I don't believe. And then they signed Robert Jones, Rob
(29:21):
Jones from Miami free agency. He started every game last year,
played pretty well, and so I think he's your option
there at guard. And so I know that Schottenheimer said
he didn't want to necessarily move Bbe just because it
would have to be because there's a better center. So
(29:41):
I mean, yeah, they might draft a center, or they
may draft a guy who can play center, and before
you know it, you get to training camp and these
are your best options. But I just kind of think
Bbe's gonna stay at center. I don't think that they're
going to move him. I don't think. Now brock Hoffmin
is probably more center, but I think he's I think
(30:03):
brock Hoffman's going to be your backup at guards. Center.
Just a really good guy to have in the locker
room there as a backup that can play three positions
in the interior. That's probably your best move there. So
I think it's a great question, and I think it's
something that they're thinking about. But because you know his
offensive line coach at our offensive coordinator at Kansas State,
(30:26):
Connor Riley. He coached Cooper BB obviously there, and you
know he was a guard mostly that they moved him
to center in the NFL. But I don't think they're
going to move him back unless they just have a
better option, And right now, I don't that guy's not
on the roster right now. All right, let's go to
break real quick here on Cowboys storyline. We'll be right
back after this.

(33:02):
that I was like hoping for a special guest. Obviously
hasn't happened yet, it may not happen, but just throwing
it out there don't be surprised. All right, John in
Delaware is our next caller. John? What's up?
Speaker 14 (33:17):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (33:17):
How you doing?
Speaker 7 (33:18):
Nick?
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Good? How are you?
Speaker 15 (33:19):
I'm good. I tried to get to elast Wednesday on
the Model Gallup. I think it would be nice for
him to come back, but I think we need to
get younger and receiver and try to put the league
on notice. The other thing I had to say was,
I know we will happened last week, but to hold
the bucket floors say, I wanted your opinion on it,
(33:41):
because what I look at it is, even if we
got hot last year and we actually won the Super Bowl,
would he be happy with just getting a ring for
Meal on the team because he's barely availed.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, I don't know what. No, I'll say this, he
would have come back. So that's that's that's the thing,
and that's why I have a little bit of a
problem with it. He would have been back for all
of that stuff. So if you're saying winning the Super
Bowl and coming back and playing in the playoffs, you
would have seen DeMarcus Lawrence on the field. That's that's
(34:15):
a fact, and so you can kind of take that
however you want. But he would have been back for
all that, So it wouldn't have been a question of
does he get a ring and all that? No, No,
he would have been he would have been a participant
for that.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (34:29):
I don't know if he was a much bige, a
progress stopper, a fine artist.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Well, I don't know who he who he would have
been stopping. I mean, they they they tried to work
out every defensive end known demand just to try to
get some help in here. So you know that was
part of the problem. You know, him and Mike could
both go down in that Giants game, and they really
didn't have anybody that could fill in and and and
be a difference maker. But you know, I think he
(34:56):
could have come back at the end of the season,
and he probably would have if if the team was playing,
you know, for in the playoffs and and all that.
I think you would have come back.
Speaker 15 (35:07):
Yeah, I agree. I just always liked de Barbi Lords
and I just feel like, you know, be home mood,
be happy that you guys do a shot with another franchise.
And I don't know if you kind of rub me
the wrong way.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Yeah, all right, all right, John, appreciate that.
Speaker 15 (35:22):
Hey, thank you call.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
My thoughts on on the tank. I was disappointed to
see that. I've never had any issue really with him.
I've you know, I like a tank, But I was
disappointed that that he went there and it it doesn't
matter about you know, when when you talk about just
(35:49):
just just how you live your life, you walk by somebody,
you might see something, you might have a perception of them.
You don't necessarily say everything that that you think just
because it's true. I mean, that doesn't mean that, oh,
that's true. He didn't have to say that. If you
saw the interview. He wanted to do that. He wanted
to go there and said, you know, I know I'm
not going to win a super Bowl there, And you
(36:12):
know what, the way I take that, he's right. He's right.
He is not going to win a super Bowl here,
and that's probably the same with he's not going to
win one in Seattle. But you know, I think he
was a veteran that's been there for a long time,
and I think he has showed a lot of leadership skills.
(36:35):
Sometimes leaders aren't aren't the best. Sometimes you lead people
the wrong way, sometimes lead them the right way. I'm
not saying I think that that his time here is
very interesting if you go back and look at all
the things, all the things that made Tank Lawrence in
the headlines, you know, it was it was an interesting
run for him. He had four Pro Bowls. He was
(36:57):
a really good player. It's not a ring of honor
player anything like that. He's just a really good, solid
cowboy for a long time. But I know this, him
and Micah never really got along. And obviously that's evident now,
but I think there was some there were some problems
with him being the leader and captain of the defense
(37:19):
and then here comes Micah Parsons doing it in a
different way. And I think it always was a little
bit of an issue of you know, whose defense is
this and all that kind of stuff, and you know,
I think they're just two different players for sure. But
but you know, it's funny when when that happened, the
truth came out rather quickly. Again, I don't have a
(37:40):
major problem with with Tank at all. I just I
don't think what he said was was was a good idea.
I don't think he needed to say that. That was
unnecessary and it didn't really make a lot of sense
as he's standing in Seattle. You know what I mean,
I mean that's there are teams in the NFL on
the doorstep of the Super Bowl knocking on the door
the doorbell. Seattle's not one of them. But anyways, all right,
(38:03):
all right, let's go to Ali in Florida. Good morning, sir,
Good morning. How are you?
Speaker 5 (38:08):
But you're good to miss you, buddy?
Speaker 1 (38:10):
All right, well I'm here, I'm here, and you're here too.
What's up?
Speaker 5 (38:13):
Okay, So a couple of things. I want to give
you A shout out to Derek because the storylineers once
to big. I get a chance to listen to some
of the podcasts and he truly everybody is such a
nice people, but my favorite it is yours. Anyways, I
don't call anybody but Draft Show, and you're my number
(38:39):
number one. So having said that, I was thinking the
way some of the NFL top ten teams that are
being signing a free agent.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
I think.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
Raiders and Chicago they are our pubbly chances are get tenty.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
But I was.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
Hoping really, really really be able to do that for ourselves.
But do you have any opinion if a draft betrayed
up to get somebody, maybe the hunter so he can
cover up two positions if not, I think on the twelfth,
(39:31):
what do you think about Matthew Golden and a hangover?
Speaker 1 (39:34):
And listen, all right, that's good questions there. You know,
Tommy Yarrish is on our staff, and he's on the
Draft show, and he's in Texas Grad and he he
would probably not be able to control himself if we
drafted Matthew Golden twelfth three. I think he's a big
(39:55):
fan of his game. That seems high to me, is
him at that spot at twelve. That seems more like
a let's trade back to seventeen and then see, let's
just get a great player there. And again that seems
a little high. But I'd be lying to you guys
(40:15):
if I tell you I studied all this stuff. I
mean I watched college football and I see the guys
making plays and and that's and he's one of them,
you know, because I you know, Texas was played probably
more football games than anybody last year. I played a
lot of games. But but no, I think that, you know,
he's he's one that would be would be up there
now trading up. I'm not a fan of for the
(40:37):
most part, because they've already lost their fourth round pick,
you know, they traded for Mingo, so they they lost
their fourth round pick. Now they have gotten some other picks.
But who are you to move up? Got to you
got to move your second probably, so I don't I'm
not interested in that or your third or next years.
I just don't see the player available to move up
(40:59):
like that. Now, Travis Hunter, like you said, he would
be the guy that you would want to move up for,
but from twelve, I mean, where's he gonna fight? I
just can't see what kind of idiots would let him
go past one, honestly, one Like I, there's no way.
(41:22):
I mean, if I had the number one pick in
the draft, I would take him. I would take him
because I see these other quarters. Okay, cam Ward from
Miami or whoever, whoever it is offensive lineman or defensive
pass rusher, but it's the guy from Penn State. There's
these guys every year, but that corner slash wide receiver player. Yeah,
(41:43):
the last time we saw him he was in eight,
nineteen eighty nine, and that was Deon Sanders and they
didn't even know he could be that guy yet. So
I generational player. I just can't. I can't imagine him
falling too far if he does for some reason, if
he gets pass forward he's at five, get on the
phone and see what it would take, because I do
(42:05):
think that would be a player to move up for.
I just don't see that that happening. I don't see
the NFL. I don't see that that around the league.
Him getting past two or three. Really, I mean I
would go get him right now. All right, let's go
to Chris Saratoga Springs, New York. Chris. What's up, hey, Nick?
Speaker 16 (42:23):
Just want to wish your daughter happy birthday.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
To start off, thank you appreciate that.
Speaker 16 (42:29):
Also want to say I completely agree with being disappointed
in d law. You know, you got to come out
of their classy and I don't I mean, Jason Witten
went to the Raiders. You don't hear him say anything
like he would never say anything like that. I just
think he's a little bitter. But there's a better way
to handle that. I was definitely disappointed in him. I mean,
what did he have thirteen sacks in his last four years? Yeah,
(42:51):
so take a little responsibility for that, like you know what,
I mean, that's it, And you're.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Right, I think that that's well said. I didn't even
mention that that part two. You know that the whole
part of the jab at Mike about well less tweeting
and we could have won more. It's like, what have
you been doing?
Speaker 3 (43:08):
You know?
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Yeah, and and and there's there's some players and staff
and whatever that didn't love the fact that that he's
sitting there in a suite in the front row of
AT and T Stadium while his teammates are they're fighting
in even though you're not playing, you could be down
there as opposed to being at a suite sitting in
front row like a fan. So I think that there
were some also some issues with that, but hey, it
(43:32):
is what it is. He wanted to say that, he
wanted to make that jab and then Micah, I give
Mike a credit for it. You know, Michael's not gonna
let it, let it slip, and so he's going to
say what he wants. And hey, it's it's fine. You know.
Micah sounds like a guy that's that's standing up for
this team in organization. Sounds like a guy that's probably
gonna sign here but before too long.
Speaker 16 (43:52):
May I agree with that? My My other thing is
I don't know why we're everybody throws so much shade
on brock Hoffman. I mean, this guy, he's rated his power,
football focus and the like bottom like the third of
the best linemen. What do you give up one sack
last year? I don't think we have a guard problem,
to be honest with you. I mean, I think we
(44:12):
got him is a good guard. I think Tyler Batts
is solid as a guard. I think we more have
a tackle problem, to be honest with him, more than
a guard. We're focusing more on the guard. I think
Hoffman is solid. I don't know where all the shades
coming from on his play, because he's nasty on the field,
he's a great teammate, and he can also play center.
(44:33):
I just think everybody's throwing too much shade on brockoffin
not giving him enough credit. In my opinion, I've watched
a lot of football in my life, and he he's solid.
I mean, he's really solid.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
Yeah, No, I I agree. I agree when you just
just look at the at the at the stats. I
mean like he's got a he's got enough of a
sample size that when he's gotten in the game, they
they have success, whether it be center, whether it be guard.
Some of their best performances of offensive production have been
when he's been in the game. And I'm not saying anything.
(45:06):
I mean, Zach Martin is the goat. He's the best.
Zach went down and obviously Hoffman replaced him. They got better.
It's not necessarily because of that. I'm not saying he
was that was the weak link and all that. I'm
just telling you like he he gets the job done
every time he's been in. So I think it's more
(45:26):
of a look at his you know, look at his
his his stats as far as how tall he is,
how big he is, all that stuff. He doesn't look
like he would be a player that would help you
that much, but he does. And I think he's a
great backup type guard center, and he could play. I mean,
if you have to start him, he could play. But
I still would probably draft another guy. But but I
(45:49):
like having him on the team. And I agree with you.
I think you got more issues at tackle than you
do in the in the middle of the line with TJ. Bass,
Hoffman and and obviously bebe.
Speaker 6 (45:59):
Yeah, all right, appreciate it, have a good rest.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Of the week, thanks, Chris. Appreciate that. Where are we
on time? Looking good? All right? I say that because
I have a feeling like this next caller is gonna
take a little bit of time. Robin Vegas, what's.
Speaker 9 (46:17):
Up, hey, Nick? What's going on?
Speaker 1 (46:19):
How are we doing?
Speaker 9 (46:20):
Rob doing better than last week?
Speaker 1 (46:23):
All right?
Speaker 9 (46:25):
I gotta give you know credit where credit is due.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
I I I can't remember what what what? What happened
in the last week that's changed your mind a little bit?
Speaker 9 (46:37):
So on on the defensive side of the ball. You know,
the Solomon Thomas moved to me, good move. It's let's
call that a push with him in Golston.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Yeah, that's fair.
Speaker 9 (46:49):
But the two linebackers, especially the kids from Chicago, I
think that's a steal.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
Before you go there, I want to I think this
is interesting to point out because you called last Wednesday, Uh,
weren't excited about the moves I got on the storyliners.
Uh that that night, I think, yeah, y'all did one
and and I take it, wow, And that was that
was intense. Uh, you were going to I don't even
know you were going at it with, but it was like, wow,
yeah it was. It was. It was interesting, for sure.
(47:21):
But in that meantime between the show and when y'all
did that, I think you did a little homework on
some of those players, because I think your your view
on the linebackers sandboard included. So I'm just interested interested
to see it, like what happened with that and what
you saw that you liked?
Speaker 9 (47:37):
Well, I you know, I wanted Drake green Law. Yeah,
me too, Jesus, And they could have they could have
got him if they, you know, really wanted. So I
didn't even know about the kids from Chicago until when
they signed them. I remember watching a couple of Chicago
games and I remember this kid, you know, because he
(47:58):
was just flying all over the field right so he
he So I said, that's a good pick. That's a
guy that comes right in. He's just starting middle linebacker
right now. I think the guy that got from Tennessee physically,
he looks he looks great. I don't know as much
about him. I go buy with you know, Brian, Brian
(48:21):
Rodis was talking about he likes him. To me, what
really was the best move they've made is Dante Fowler. Right,
Dante Fowler. We could say, well, he's not great up
against the he gets to the quarterback, he's he's a
consistent pass rusher and now you just took him away
from a team you need to be better than so
I think I think that was the best pick up
(48:43):
they've made so far. I agree with the last caller
about Hoffman. I like Hoffman. I mean he's not maybe
as big as you would wish or you know this
or that, but he fights. Do I think they should
still get a guard short?
Speaker 4 (49:01):
Why not?
Speaker 9 (49:02):
And I agree that My concern is the left tackle
because we've seen Dak. If he doesn't trust his left tackle,
he don't play good. I mean, so, uh, draft wise,
living here in Vegas, the Raid isn't gonna draft genty.
I mean it's it's all over the place, especially now
they got Gino Casino. Uh that No, that's what I'm
(49:28):
calling him. That that's what.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
They could call him in Vegas.
Speaker 9 (49:34):
And let me tell you, they're talking about him in
Vegas like he's Troy Aikman. And I'm like, you know
who this is?
Speaker 5 (49:40):
Right?
Speaker 1 (49:41):
So yeah, well, I mean it's all relative, right, I
mean when they had Gardner Minshew and I can't remember
the other guy's name, which is my point, but yeah,
I mean from what they've had, uh yes, yeah, And
he's inciting player. You know, he can put up four
hundred yards for you. He can put up.
Speaker 9 (50:01):
He has a good arm.
Speaker 4 (50:02):
He does.
Speaker 9 (50:03):
He has a good arm and and I you are
right from what they've had. He hears Troyikman in their
eyes and listen, I got not against the Raiders. I
hope the Raiders do good living here. Uh talking about
DeMarcus Lawrence. DeMarcus Lawrence just got dumped by the hot chick.
He got dumped by the hot girl.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
And he's he's he's upset because he.
Speaker 9 (50:25):
Was dating at ten. And I'm not talking about just
the Dallas couns. I'm just talking the city of Dallas. Still,
he got dumped by the hot girl. He's upsets and
now he went and now he's dating a five or
six because they paid him a lot of money, nothing
that we were going to pay him. Yeah, and you
think you would just say, like everybody says, list that
(50:48):
I appreciate everything. Jon samp diy blah blah blah. You know,
you know what everybody says, and don't take your money
and go play. But he's just disgruntled because, like I said, well,
as soon as I see him, I said, oh man,
he got done by the hot chick. And I'm and
I'm and I'm happy that Mike has said so.
Speaker 4 (51:05):
Mike is the.
Speaker 9 (51:05):
Leader of the team. He may not want it, he
may not even be built for it, but I'm glad
he's showing it because he he understands that. That's why
that's what they're gonna pay me to do. When he
gets his I think it's gonna be thirty seven, thirty
eight million dollars. I think that's his. I thought it
was gonna be thirty seven, But now that everybody got
(51:26):
forty four, I think he's gonna do a thirty eight
number right. And uh, and he's the guy. Now he's
the he's the guy.
Speaker 7 (51:33):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (51:34):
You know they say dak is. I don't think so anymore.
I think I think micaeh is And we'll see what happens.
But wide receiver, Uh, if you're going to I would
like them to play Turpid in the slot. I think
he could do it. And if you're going to put
Turpid in the slot, I would like for them to
go get Keenan Allen and why I receive it number
(51:57):
two And now I think he got a really good combination.
You're not planning on putting Turpin in the slot. They
go get locked out of Seattle. He'll give you some
more speed because they need speed. So yeah, that's just
my feeling. And hopefully to make what he's moved and
we'll see what happened.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
All right, sounds good. Appreciate that good stuff that you know.
Turpin in the slot, I mean that's I think he
he can do it at times. I don't know if
he's just that guy. I mean, I think he's he's
so unique in what he can do with his skill
set that he's I wouldn't play him just anywhere. I mean,
I you know, he averaged six yards a run last year.
(52:38):
I mean running the ball. And when I'm talking about
just reverses here, Hey ran him right up the middle.
Could he live you know, too long doing that? No? No,
But I'm just saying he has got his own skill
set that I hope this this year, with all the
offensive coaches that they've got, that they can look at
him and say what kind of things do we want
(53:00):
to do with him? You know, look at what Kansas
City's doing with Worthy. He's all over the place. Turpens
the same type of guy, and so I don't know
if he's just a slot guy. I think he's just
a weapon that's unique. You don't know where he's gonna
line up, but but you better be, you know, watching
out for him. Now, as far as those veterans go,
those receivers, I'd be okay with that. I'd be okay
(53:22):
with Keenan Allen or Tyler Lockett maybe, you know, I
know he's probably got some familiarity with with Schottenheimer there.
But but I you know, I like I like Keenan Allen.
But but you know, the term progress stopper is going
to be thrown in there, especially if they draft a
receiver in the top couple of rounds that's probably gonna
be a guy that's gonna be your number two if
(53:43):
if that happens, and then don't forget Tolbert in a
contract year, you know, let the team in touchdowns as well.
All right, let's go to break here real quick, one
more time on Cowboys storyline. We'll be right back after.

We rally together, we cry together, and we always rally
(54:45):
cry together because there's definitely no eye in Cowboys. Fans
smear enough we do game days. Please drink responsibly.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
To Cowboys story hin. All right, welcome back to Cowboys storyline. Here.
We've got a few more minutes to go on the show.
If you're watching live, you can see that we've changed
the camera angle, which means our surprise guests that we
were hoping would join the show did not pan out.
(55:20):
I'll just tell you it was Brian Schottenheimer he's making
the rounds here today talking to a lot of the
just staff here and introduce it himself and bring in
some breakfast over and it's been it's been a really
cool time for a lot of the people that don't
get a chance to see and meet the head coach.
(55:41):
And he's he's doing that this morning. And that's something
that we haven't seen around here before. Really a cool
thing is he's swinging by here. I thought maybe we
had a shot he could jump in with you guys,
But his priority today is to to you know, shake
some hands and meet some people here that do a
lot of behind the scene where which I think is
really cool for him to do that. So that's what's
(56:04):
happening today. Didn't pan out. We tried maybe though, one
time we will get him in maybe in a different
mindset for him when when he's here, that would be
cool and get a chance for you guys, some of
you guys to talk with him. All right, let's go
to the phone line. Zach in Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (56:20):
Hey, what's up, Nick, how are you doing?
Speaker 1 (56:21):
Thanks for waiting?
Speaker 17 (56:23):
Yeah, no problem, shout out to coach Schottenheimer. Would have
been cool to have him on. That'd be fun in
the future and shake your hands, hit your babies and
some games.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Man, I thought it was gonna be you. I really did.
I thought I was like, Zach, this might be his
lucky day, just the way that it worked out when
you called, and I was like, this is gonna happen.
It's gonna be Zach in Atlanta. But it didn't. That's okay.
Speaker 17 (56:46):
Yeah, I've missed Woody on the past couple of times too,
So one day, one day, one day. Yeah, man, well, hey,
also shout out to Rob. I've seen his advancer about
uh thank you know, getting dumped by the hot stick
saying that on Twitter. Man, that is great. And also
(57:07):
I mean I should do it myself. But I'm gonna
give Rob this trademark idea Gino casino, throw a slot
machine with some sevens on it on a Raiders journey.
That's money in the bank, dude. Thing. Yeah you know
what I'm saying. There's a market there that's a honey hole.
Speaker 9 (57:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 17 (57:28):
But this is counta the storyline and here we go.
I man, I think we have to bolster these weapons.
I'm not interested in bringing Michael Gallop back. God bless him.
You know, he was great when he was here, but
you know, I had to make consistencies and then the injuries.
I think the first three rounds of the draft, preferably
(57:50):
wide receiver. I'm loving Ted if he's there, Set McMillan
at twelve, and then we pick up the running back
you know, stretches a little bit better. They for around
two or three. But yeah, we've gotta we've got to
stack this offense. I mean, we have so many needs
that you really just take the best player available. But
(58:13):
with Schottenheimer coming in, you know, hopefully doing some new
fresh ideas with the offense. You know, I think Turpin
has a role, but I'm not really interested in seeing
maybe yeah, I just think we've seen what we had Osbert,
Ryan Fllinoy, the Struthers rise up. Maybe he's got something
(58:33):
to give, but I think you I mean, we haven't
taken a first round talent. You know, CD was our
last you know, twenty twenty draft, and then we've kind
of just sat on receiver. We let Coop walk or
a traded him rather and then he signed Gallup. I mean,
we really haven't invested a ton that, like, like truly invested,
(58:56):
not just you know, getting some guys somewhere in the draft.
But that's my thought. Curious to think secure secerior thoughts. Yeah,
and I'll hang up, have a good one.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Thanks, I appreciate it. Thanks for the call. You know,
the running back situations kind of different now just because
they've they've added a couple of veterans that that doesn't
mean you don't draft gent or whatever you were going
to do. You can still do it. I think that
I'd be surprised if they drafted one in the first
couple of rounds and they kept both of the backs,
(59:31):
Devonte Williams and Miles Sanders here. But you know, I
mean you look at other teams and they've got two
to three backs that they're using, and and the way
Williams runs the ball, you know, I mean, he's he
stays healthy, but you know, he's a he's a battering ram.
And then you've got Miles Sanders, who's you know, he
hasn't hasn't necessarily been the same there and since his
(59:52):
thousand yard season Pro Bowl season in Philadelphia, but you know,
he's still capable. And and Williams had the ACL injury
two years ago and now this is his second year back,
so their Cowboys are kind of hopeful that in this
second year back from the from the injury, he'll be
back to form again, and so I'm fine with whatever
(01:00:14):
they do it running back. I think, like with any case,
you draft one at twelve, it means he's going to
be special, and so I'm fine with that. But I
also think you can probably with what they have at
running back, you can also add one. But don't wait
too long, you know. I mean history shows the backs
that are that are really good and special or drafted
(01:00:35):
in the first couple of rounds. Maybe the third round
would probably be the lowest I would want to go there.
But I do think they need a young running back.
So I hope that they're not just signing those two
and said we're good at back. I don't think they are.
I think that they will and you know, but but
this team needs more playmakers, I mean dynamic playmakers. And
so if it's their receiver, go for it, you know,
(01:00:57):
or or running back for sure. Tight end You're probably
okay at tight end, but they need they need to improve.
I mean, Jake Ferguson needs to take that step that
they thought he would take this year. He didn't. He
didn't take it last year? All right, Rick in Massachusetts?
Speaker 18 (01:01:13):
Next, Hey, they tell you do him good?
Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
How are you all right?
Speaker 18 (01:01:18):
How was your weekend?
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Good? Not bad at all? How about you? What's on
your mind?
Speaker 18 (01:01:24):
That's good? Happy birthday to your daughter.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
Thank you?
Speaker 18 (01:01:28):
Yeah, my, with my the previous callers listening to the
Draft show and Brian bos and everybody else. There's not
a lot of good sonners out in the draft, so
we better just stick with bebe.
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:01:41):
So I don't think they from what I hear, I
don't think they're moving anybody, so they're probably just looking
somebody to play. They take the Zach Martin.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
Roll right, And I think I think it's gonna be
Rob Jones for for now, you know, and then and
then we'll see, you know, if somebody else, you know,
if they draft someone or what happens. But you know,
I would think for the most part is if you know,
Rob Jones is going to get a good chance to start.
Speaker 17 (01:02:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:02:08):
As far as the thing I would my thing was
that I think they should get a wide receiver at
the twelve position, or if there's you know, or maybe
trade back to the spots and get them there. But
probably in the first three rounds would be like a
wide receiver, running back and you know, either at cornerback
or defensive pack or something like that at one tech.
Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Yeah, all those options are good. That's what's good about
this team. That's why so EI they're drafting twelve. It's
because they do have a lot of needs. But but
you're right, I mean, it's gonna be hard to go
wrong here, you know, and they're probably gonna take somebody
that that you know, fans may not love. But you know,
(01:02:52):
as I say, if you if you love the Tyler
Smith pick, then raise your hand. And there's not gonna
be a lot of people doing that. So you know,
they they'll they'll get a guy that they really like.
And I think for the most part it's it's been
it's worked out for them. But they they this is
a big draft and we all know this. They have
to hit with some of these high picks.
Speaker 18 (01:03:13):
Definitely have to hit in their first pick. Is they
really haven't hit the first pick the last.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
Two years, no doubt, no doubt. But but you know
you're picking twelfth, you should, you know, you should be
able to do that. You should get a really good player.
Last time they picked twelfth. That was Micah Parsons, you know,
and started at ten, they went to twelve. It might
go from twelve to fifteen, but or whatever and pick
up more picks. But I think the I think they
(01:03:38):
got a pretty good chance to hit on a player
that could come in and help right away. That's that's
the key. You got to get someone ready to play
and contribute, not a project player. I got ready to
contribute right now.
Speaker 18 (01:03:50):
Yeah, thank you, and I have a good day.
Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
All right, thanks, Rick, appreciate that. Let's go to Sebastian.
He's in Savannah, Georgia. Sebastian. What's up?
Speaker 19 (01:03:58):
Are we doing a streaming? I'm doing just fine playing.
I been watching all the draft shows and all the shows,
and I hear people are you know, asking gent ask
genty over and over and over again, and I am
a I'm not actually going on the asking GENC train. Now,
if you get them, I have no problem with that,
you know, because it's just like a ze situation. But
if you remember Cee coming out and Derek Henry coming out,
(01:04:20):
you can argue that Derek Henry's had a slightly better
career than the cast. But there's always a back in
the second round that's going to do very well. So
I believe that you don't have to go first round
to get the back. And then the other question that
I have then I find myself asking you all the
time is are we a draft and developed team or
are we a draft and draft and draft, because at
some point in time, I feel like we're getting diminishing
(01:04:41):
returns on getting a linement every single drafts towards the
first round or second round and stuff that we're gonna
have to get somebody in here to actually develop the
lineman we have. We have awesome Richards just sitting on
a bench.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
We have all these bell just sitting on.
Speaker 19 (01:04:53):
A bench at this point, which they'll they'll get a
chance to play this year now that Zach is retired.
But I don't feel like we have to have that
running back. What I want one in the first round
is a player that's gonna come in here and make
a difference, hopefully day one. You know, I don't care
if it's a wide receiver. I don't care it on
the defense, but I actually think that help on the
defense would actually help the team overall a little bit
more than an offensive weapon in the first round.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
But all right. You know, sometimes when you draft the
receiver that they're not always ready to come in and
contribute as a as a starter. So you know running
backs typically hit the ground running. Uh, if you will
a little bit a little bit better than that. But
(01:05:36):
you know, I think I think I don't have a
great answer right now because I don't know if they
can really mess this up. I mean, they they they
need players they're gonna need. If it's a if they
draft of the kid from Missouri, was he a tackle?
I mean that nobody can pronounce. Probably fine, you know
(01:05:59):
Alabama guard or what LSU tackle, whoever it is, like,
if they if they go that route, I'm fine with that.
You know now that what does that say for Terrence Steele?
What does that say for Tyler Geydon? I don't know.
I don't really care. Like, you know, you can't just
say well, this is who we draft a graph to
go with. No, you can if you can say, let's
(01:06:21):
get let's be better there. So if they're if they're
willing to, I don't know, admit that they made a mistake.
I don't think they have to admit that. But if
they're drafting a tackle, go for it. I mean, he's
going to be ready to play, ready to plug in
and should be your your left tackle, or maybe he's
a guard. I don't know if you draft a guard
at that spot, but they you know, they did draft
(01:06:42):
a Zach Martin at sixteen, and look look what happened
with him. But either way, I mean, I'm I I
could see a cornerback if one fits. I could see
a pass rusher always, and again that might be a
little rich based off of who's there. I don't know
if there is a guy that's gonna be right there
at twelve. But then again, we still got a month
(01:07:05):
and a half. I feel maybe not a month and
a half, but we've got about five weeks at least
to the drive. A lot of things are gonna happen
Pro Day's things are gonna change, you know, for the
better for some, for the you know, for the worse
for others. So let's just let's see how it goes.
But I mean, the Cowboys are in a good spot,
and I think they they've covered up some of the
holes that they've had in free agency to get them
(01:07:28):
in that spot that you always want to draft the
best one available. All right, let's go, uh Lester's back, Lester,
what's up?
Speaker 6 (01:07:37):
Hey, Nick?
Speaker 20 (01:07:38):
H Yeah, I forgot to say a couple of things
all right on earlier. I also wanted to get Hoffman
his flowers too. I heard the other guy say that,
and I just I noticed, like I said, I don't
have a twelve the twenty four, twenty two or whatever
it is camera. But when I watched my Cowboys play
(01:07:59):
running back out there, always, well not always a lot
of time, he ran behind Hoffmon, So let's give him
his flowers. Also, as we stand right now, this is
the line I would have offensive line left tackle Smith,
(01:08:19):
left guard, steel, BB Hoffman, awesome riches, slash guide.
Speaker 4 (01:08:27):
Who is your left tackle right now?
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
Who is your left tackle?
Speaker 4 (01:08:34):
Yes? I'm moving them over?
Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
Oh Tyler Smith. Okay, sorry I can't hear you that. Well,
you're moving Tyler Smith to left tackle?
Speaker 7 (01:08:44):
Yes, sir, as we stand right now, as we're saying, now,
I know we got.
Speaker 20 (01:08:48):
The draft and were still not finished with free agents,
et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, But that would be
my offensive line right.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
Now, all right. Well, I don't agree with that. I
I I keep Tyler Smith that guard. And the reason
why is I think he's I think he would be
a good good left tackle, and I think he's an
all pro guard. So I I like to play the
guy where I think he's going to be the best.
Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
That would be my thought there is I would. I
would because you're losing a little bit from him playing
guard to playing tackle, and then you're losing a lot
at your left guard whoever you're going to replace him with.
Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
So I.
Speaker 7 (01:09:29):
Steal still big and strong, and he's good with the run.
He's not so good with the path. Sometimes sometimes he's good,
sometimes he's not.
Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
He's good with the run.
Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
He's strong guard left guard.
Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Okay, all right, all right, thanks for the for the callback.
Let's I wouldn't. I'm not moving now. You're just moving
guys around just because just because he's he's not as
good as you want him to be at tackle doesn't
mean he's a guard. I mean, it's not like if
a corner loses a step, put move him in safety.
(01:10:05):
It's a different position, really, and so you got to
have and I agree with you, but he's he's a
good run blocker. I still think he's a tackle though.
I think he's a tackle.
Speaker 16 (01:10:20):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
And I think he's gonna be He's gonna be fine.
I mean Terrence Steele. You know, we've seen offensive linemen
around here before. They just kind of need different, different voices,
different guys, and you know, different techniques. I think Terrence
is going to be a really good player, and I
wouldn't move him. I think he's still his best years
are ahead of him. There a tackle. All right, let's go.
(01:10:41):
This will be our last call. I would think for
the day. Anthony and Miami is next. Anthony, what's up.
Speaker 16 (01:10:48):
To?
Speaker 19 (01:10:50):
What?
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
God?
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
How you doing?
Speaker 4 (01:10:54):
What's up? I like to shout out old day and
Nick what it do?
Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
All right?
Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
All right, last call of the day. I was just
thinking one quick cowboy comment, but one comment on what
I thought about this show. I was watching some nostalgic
shows and it was a show that I used to
love and it was called Cheers, and it reminded me
of this show. And I was like, what reminds me
of the show? And your line went like, sometimes you
want to go everybody knows the name, you know.
Speaker 14 (01:11:25):
And that's this, that's this.
Speaker 4 (01:11:26):
Everybody wants to give their opinions to. This is the
basic total calling show. Everybody has the other shows that
they participated in before the show the exception of the show,
and it's become a great show. People got the vibes.
You know, you have to story a lot cruel you know,
people emerging, calling each other and listening to become a friends. Yeah,
that's a great thing. Now for the Cowboy, what.
Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
A great compliment to say. This show is like cheers.
And if you're and if you're too young to know
that that show, sorry, you know because it was it was.
It was a class So I appreciate that. I don't
know whose characters who and all that. I don't know
all that. Sometimes I feel like the old coach, you
(01:12:08):
know what I mean? Who it was not all there
but uh or Woody but but no. I yeah, yeah,
we got a lot of norms. We got a lot
of norms that just sit there when you know there,
you know where they're gonna be something.
Speaker 4 (01:12:22):
Right, Anthony the Cowboys frontlet'st it ain't real quick. You know,
if you think you know me, I'm good baby. Like
I said, the bottom line is gonna be get me
fifty three players out there. Fill me fifty three. Once
you get through it all this stuff, get me fifty
three guys that won't quit. And that's why I was
so proud of them last season when they finished strong
and we talked about taking and I was number one
(01:12:43):
with that non painting. And when I heard my guy
Michael said we ain't taking, I knew we was gonna
have something specialist hit. We may not get the superstar
Fridges and all that, but we're fill in spots. Well,
stop gapping right now. You're gonna tell me my Sam
just can't do nothing help the team. Murray can't do nothing.
You know what I'm saying. They Solomon can't do nothing.
He could do something. So let's just get this draft
(01:13:04):
there and got the way, man, and let's keep the
positivity going. Man, we won't do a little something. Man,
it's up to the playoffs. At that point. We can't
blame Jerry no more stuff like that. So that's all
I have to say. I'm just I'm happy. I'm ready,
all right, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
All right, Anthony appreciate that stuff. Thanks got bad news
for Anthony. He's not last. I know he wanted to
be the book end of the show. He's not. We
did it. One more caller. It is Josh in Chicago. Josh,
what's up.
Speaker 21 (01:13:29):
Hey, Nick glad I can make it on today.
Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
You made it? What's up?
Speaker 21 (01:13:32):
Just barely? Hey, so real quick. I was looking back
at some of eber Fluis's track record when he was
a linebackers coach with the Cowboys, and I think he
got some of the best out of Hitchens Smith at
the time, you know, later on before you know Jaylen,
right after the injury for Jaylen, before he left, iber
Fluce left, and then even with Rowando McClain. So I'm
(01:13:53):
wondering kind of what it was like covering him as
a coach for you all in the media, and what
you kind of expect out of him, and whether you
think that he can get more out of Damond Clark
this season. I'll take it off the air.
Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
That's a that's a great question, Josh, and I said it.
I think last week that that Damon Clark is going
to get an opportunity to, you know, to to do
some things. I mean, I really, I really think that
this is last year of his deal, and uh, he's
definitely had some up and down moments and uh, probably
not where they thought he would be entering his fourth year.
(01:14:24):
But but if there's anybody that needs a fresh start,
it would be it would be Damone Clark. And I
think there's anybody that could use a coach in here
that that really understands this position and understands how to
get the best out of linebackers, it would be it
would be Ebraflus. Now your question about how it was
to cover him, you kind of remember like when you're
(01:14:45):
when you're a coordinator, I mean, I'm sorry, a position coach.
There's not a lot of you know, discussions with the
media there. There's some. You do get some some, but
not not a whole lot. So you know, always good coach,
good good person, you know, nice cordial guy to talk to,
but you don't really get a lot of interactions there.
(01:15:08):
I think he's gonna be He's gonna be good. You know,
Ibraflus might just be one of those guys and this
isn't a bad thing, but might just be one of
those guys that that is a better teacher, better coach
and teacher. Then maybe as a head coach or maybe
he gets a second shot. You know, there's some really
really good coaches in the NFL, some of the best
(01:15:29):
of all time that didn't have such a great start
and actually got another chance and and have made the
most of that. You can just look those those guys up.
Some of the best that that's ever coached, you know,
Saban Belichick, Pete Carroll didn't always have the best starts
the first time around. So I'm not closing the door
on that. I think Ibraflus is a really good teacher.
(01:15:50):
Like I said, he can understand, he understands how to
get the best out of it of players, especially a linebacker.
And he's got some guys to work with there and
Demon Clark include all right, guys, great show. Appreciate that.
Sixteen callers a lot of fun today, you know you guys,
or we'll be back. We'll be back next week. We'll
see what's going on with this all storyline team. I
(01:16:13):
need to see about getting a second show. We'll see
if we can do that. It might just be in
a longer extended show, or maybe a second one altogether,
if that's allowed. So we can announce this all storyline team.
But we're putting up finishing touches on that. It should
be coming out here in the next next week or so,
for sure. We'll so stay tuned to that. And if
we do have another show, we'll definitely put that on
(01:16:35):
the schedule and let you guys know of that, all right,
for everyone, for Chris Bean, Nick Eatman, see you next
time on Cowboys storyline.
Speaker 11 (01:16:43):
