Speaker 1 (00:04):
The following.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
He is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
This is Cowboys Storyline, brought you by Gillette, the official
razor of the Dallas Cowboys. Here's Nick Eatman.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
What's up? Welcome to Cowboys Storyline. It is Monday, September
the eighth. We are officially now moving into week two.
I guess the Cowboys are moving into Week two. NFL
still in week one, there's a game tonight, but Cowboys
and Giants coming up. We'll talk still Cowboys Eagles. If
you didn't get a chance to call in on Friday.

(00:47):
If you want to talk about the Lions in the
Packer game, go ahead. We'll do this for a little bit.
I understand. This is this when I'm not in the
move on. He's not on the team phase just yet
what we're getting there. But but yeah, if you want
to talk about any of that former Cowboys, current Cowboys,
let's do it A A A eight five five to

(01:08):
two nine seven. We'll start in Coco Beach, Florida. We
got Robbie.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
What's up man?

Speaker 6 (01:13):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (01:14):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Nick? Hash your game? Many?

Speaker 8 (01:16):
Good?

Speaker 9 (01:16):
Oh good?

Speaker 8 (01:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (01:19):
I agree. I didn't call it Friday because I was
kind of pissed off about the game. I thought we
had it good then. I kind of thought about it
over the weekend and I was like, you know, you know,
we we just went up with the chance then. And
know Michael Parsons and are defensive slopped in the beginning,
But Dan, we we played a hell of a game.

Speaker 11 (01:36):
So you know that.

Speaker 10 (01:38):
Homer in me comes out again because we did play
really well. And man, we missed a couple of baths,
a couple of drops, missed Ferguson in the cornered end zone. Yeah,
miss CD a couple of times is.

Speaker 7 (01:50):
What it is, though.

Speaker 10 (01:51):
But man, I thought we looked solid. Our O line
looked better than I expected. I mean, think about what
we were saying three months ago about Tyler guy. We
were like, oh, well, we don't know what you gonna do.
What are we gonna do with left backhol what's going
on with steel? What are we what's gonna be? What
book are gonna be? They all looked yeah, yep, I mean,

(02:15):
so change my mind. My glasses half full again?

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Well it should be. I mean, I think I think
there are some positive things to look at obviously, and
the fact that the most positive thing that I heard
you say was nothing about that rant in the last
ten seconds. It was when you said you were pissed
off on Friday because you had them. That to me,
and that's what I wrote in my column. You know what,

(02:39):
this one hurts, and it's that's a good thing. It's
a good thing because you know, you could have won
this game, and you should have won this game. That
to me is higher expectations than I think a lot
of people had going into Philly Week one.

Speaker 10 (02:51):
So I had fifteen points with my friend of mine
and for twenty dollars, just a little gentleman stupid bet
that we do every time, and I thought I was
gonna lose the truth man.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah wow.

Speaker 10 (03:04):
So when it was at the end and it was
down by four, I was like, oh, we should have
won this game.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah all right, all right, thank you. You know, when
you look at the schedule and just just week one,
just look at everything that you've seen, you know, you
don't know a whole lot about week one, because things
can change. Hell, things can change in the middle of
a game as I'm watching Baltimore and Hills highlights. But

(03:31):
looking at the schedule, being really honest about it, is
there anything tougher on paper than what the Cowboys have
already faced? I mean they faced at Philly on the road,
first game of the season. Ceremony dropped, you know, raised
the banner, all that stuff. First game of the year
at Philly. After that, does any other game? I mean,

(03:54):
Packers at home. Packers look pretty damn good. You know
that was not gonna lie about that. But we haven't
seen them on the road just yet. Of course, not
that they lose at at and T Stadium, but so
that anyways, that's debatable there on Sunday Night Football. But
all these other games that you were, like, all these
tough games at the Lions, I mean, okay, Chiefs on Thanksgiving,

(04:19):
both those teams lost. I think they're gonna be fine.
But you know, at Denver, at the Jets, at the Bears,
Chargers at home, I mean, at Washington, I mean, nothing
looks tougher than what you just faced. Not to say
that you won't, you know, see the Cowboys lose at
home to somebody that they shouldn't, then that happens every year.

(04:40):
But I'm just going off of one game, and it's
only one week into the season and all that, but
you're looking at the schedule, you know, I don't think
you think as badly about anything, knowing how they played
that game and all that, but none of that matters
if you don't go out and beat the Giants. So
let's just kind of squash that right there. All right,
Chuck the Bridge City, Texas. What's up, man, Nick?

Speaker 12 (05:02):
What's up man?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
How are you good?

Speaker 12 (05:06):
I didn't get the call last week. I tried to
on the day after the game, But I think they
played great. I was excited to see fire in them.
I feel like they were pumped up. I would like
to see I know, you got to target your best
player sht. But I would have liked to see some
targets kind of spread out.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (05:30):
Granted, if you would have made those catches, they'd be
saying something else.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
But yeah, yeah, wow.

Speaker 12 (05:36):
But you know, this year, it kind of reminds me
of I remember in twenty fourteen, they've just gotten off
going eight and eight, I think, three years in a row.
All of a sudden, they just surprised us all and
had that awesome year. And I think we could see
something like that happen this year. What do you think
about that.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's it's easy to say that,
you know, like that that could happen. You see that
in twenty fourteen Sawden was it twenty one, I guess
when they lost to the to the Bucks and then
won five or six in a row. But you know,
you have to you have to win the games. It's
easier to say that now, you know, let let's let's

(06:13):
let a couple of these games pile up, you know,
I mean at at the Giants, you know, to the
division game. We'll see what happens at the Bears and
then the Packers. So Stackinson wins together is not going
to be easy. It's just that, you know, we'll we'll
see how they how they perform here. But I think
all what you're saying is is that it looks promising

(06:35):
even in defeat. It looked promising, uh, based off our expectations,
which maybe our expectations need to be raised a little bit.

Speaker 12 (06:43):
Yeah, I fot I'm saying pretty.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Much right, Well, thanks for the call. I'll talk about
see Pickens as well. Yeah. That let's that's how it.
That's how it goes. What one game this, what what
about Pickens? And then Pickens will get some more targets next.
I mean, that's that's how this thing goes. And then
he'll have a big game and then maybe Turpin will

(07:06):
have one touch and you know what about Turpin. I mean,
there'll be a time where Ferguson hasn't got a you know,
a target and and it didn't get many you know,
ballst on his way in the game, and then we'll
be on here. So that's that's probably a good thing
as well. If you're winning. Uh, if you're not winning,
then then you could make the case that you know, yes,

(07:27):
it wasn't enough for Pickens, it wasn't enough for whoever.
But you know that, I think we all know what
happened in the game. I mean they didn't over target
CD and the ball was in his hands four times
and he didn't catch it. And he had I think
seven catches on thirteen targets. I'm not sure about some
of the others, but I know there were four for

(07:48):
sure that that were there. One of those was the
last long deep ball you can say that was you know,
he I don't call it a drop, but I but
it was a catchuple pass a guy diving forward and
you know, on fourth down with the game on the line.
That's catchable. You know, I thought Dak put it there,
and he put it there on some other plays as well.
And I think we've all seen the some of the

(08:11):
footage on CD here in the jugs machine. We saw
him on Friday out here. There wasn't anyone here, no
players on the on the field. He was out here
on the jukes machine. That's that's what you want, right,
I mean that, that's it. It's all you can ask for
a guy that's not his you know, mo o, we

(08:31):
know that, you know, one thing that's not getting put
mentioned here. And again I'm not trying to throw out excuses,
but it was funny how this never gets brought up.
But those drops were mostly in the second half, or
all of them actually were in the second half. Maybe
there was one early on in the game in the

(08:52):
second quarter, but for the most part, those drops in
the second half and after the delay, and the delay,
of course is a weather delay. And so you know,
I didn't see a lot of other people dropping passes,
but I didn't see a lot of other people catching
the ball either, you know, I mean, like who else
was catching the football out there? So that that might

(09:12):
be something to do with it. You know, it's not
like the Eagles guys were catching every everything in the
second half. I mean every The whole offense kind of
shut down. Hasn't really been talked about. Obviously, the field
was well, I mean if the ball's wet, but it
would be one thing if if you know, other people
were making plays. But really the whole offense kind of
went down. So with that, and knowing what CD is

(09:35):
and and then the type of player and that he's been,
I don't think this is something to be really worried
about moving forward. All right, let's go to Jeremy.

Speaker 7 (09:42):
He's in d C.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Jeremy, what's up.

Speaker 9 (09:46):
How I'm good? You been saying, out of trouble.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Man, working on that?

Speaker 8 (09:52):
Yeah, how about you?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
You heard anybody?

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (10:00):
No, man, no, man, I've been busy, man, been busy.
So like most of the time when when you on,
I'll be at work, so I'll be trying to call
in between while I'm doing like my jobs or whatever.
But most of the time.

Speaker 11 (10:13):
When I get off off day, yeah, I'm off on Monday.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
All right, what'd you think, man? What do you think
of the game? What's you think moving forward.

Speaker 9 (10:24):
So I think, man, the CD Lamborghini, we're gonna bounce back.
We don't have to worry about that. You know, that's
gonna be a one off, you know, So everybody just
calmed down. CD Lamborghini is gonna be okay. Change Yeah, Nea,
it all change, you know what I'm saying. Got gotta
check the break caliber and stuff. You know, I was

(10:48):
watching the game again and I was noticing, like when
the defensive tackles is doing those twist stunts, A lot
of the times when they was doing them, they were
either knocking theirselfs out of play or knocking the defense
knocking the defensive ends out of the plate. Is there, like,
is the something like with the person that's twisting is

(11:09):
doing something wrong or is it the defensive end that's
doing something wrong? Because I was noticing that a.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Lot like in that game, look like it was their
first game together. And you know that and that that
is one of those things where where I can see
an advantage to playing. Let these guys play something preseason.
That part right there. I don't know if it's worth
you know, the risk of an injury, but it is

(11:36):
going out there and playing where it's not practice and actually,
you know, okay, when I go here and rush here
and and yeah, the guys running you know, into each
other in the same lanes and all that. But it
felt like it got better in the second half. The
defense kind of both sides of you know, defense played
way better in the second half. So you know, I

(11:57):
don't again, that's one of those things, just like the
dry I mean, one of those things I don't believe
will be a big problem moving forward. I thought the
defense started to play better, that they they had to
trick it up. You know, it wasn't working in the
first half, and we started to see some different things,
some different Bloetz packages because they were not getting home.

Speaker 9 (12:18):
A play that something else that I noticed on the
offensive side before the before man Beghini started dropping them
like it was the run play with I'm not sure
if it was the defensive end or the defensive tackle.
He split like right between Steel and Booker. It looked
like they didn't know like who was supposed to pick

(12:39):
him up, you know what I'm saying. So I think
that was like a little communication problem too. And I
feel like if that play right there, would it held
up something they probably would have got like a good
five maybe six yards out of that run play right there,
and it would have been a different situation on third down.
But yeah, I ain't really had much nick Man, I
just wanted to, which you know has been a while.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Man, all right, cool, nobody, all right, I won't I
can't hurt anybody, all right, thanks man, Thanks for the call.

Speaker 9 (13:10):
I feel too, man, look cast the shot.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
I appreciate it. Thank you. Yeah, Jacket almost got me
in a fight though, on the elevator on the way back,
but that's a that's for another story. You know, I
don't I don't remember that play he was talking about
with the run and those those two guys not you know,

(13:35):
not picking it up. It feels like Thursday night. I mean,
it feels like that was several days ago. So I
haven't really I didn't even go back and watch it
like I normally do. It's been kind of a crazy weekend.
I just said, I just kind of left it at that.
I probably will check some of the plays as well,
but you know, and and and probably fine moments like
that and go man. You know, I mean at the time,

(13:57):
I remember thinking they should have this game. But I'll
probably go back and watch it and it'll be really
clear that hey, you know, they was there for the taking.

Speaker 12 (14:06):
And so.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Part part of that is good because it's like, you know,
you face a good football team and you had a
chance to win on the road. But the other part
is that you didn't win. You didn't do those things,
and we've seen that before then finding ways to lose games.
So if that's a trend, then obviously that's not going
to be fine. You know, if you're going to play
to the level of your competition too, that you'll be

(14:29):
sitting there at eight and eight, eight nine, whatever that is.
So we've seen them play play up there and play
the Eagles on the road. Let's let's not be the
team that that also struggles with the Giants at home
and struggles with you know, the Panthers and jetsmen and
stuff like that. So you know what we'll see. It's
still early. We're still trying to figure out what this
team is. James in New Jersey, do it hey man?

Speaker 3 (14:55):
A couple of states A question. The lineback could look
a little slow, especially going downhill of the fifty nine.
He kind of waiting for something to happen, like you're
waiting before he went downhill and get into those gaps
against the running fus. Also on the flat, there's always
somebody missing in the flat. I know what that's about.

(15:18):
And uh, as far as the linebacks, I mean the
defensive enditu concern, it's seem like they were all trying
to play hero ball, trying to make it for Mica
going inside instead of outside, trying to keep that kid
in the of the pocket, you know, cheat him in there,
and so he wouldn't you know, run over the prison.
He's playing yard your yard ball. But my main question

(15:39):
is I was looking at Cleveland to lose, because I'm
hoping they lose about maybe your first six games. And
since the trade divide is on November fourth, whether we
were considered trading for Miles Garrett for a couple of
those picks and maybe uh discussive you know, where him
can be negotiating his contract to at least keep that

(16:03):
as cap fairly as possible, you know. So I was wondering,
you know, whether that would be a possibility, and you've
been looking to get them all Garrett for a couple
of picks.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Okay, all right, James, we appreciate the call. You guys
kind of know. I mean when it comes to players
on other teams, not something that I can get can
really discuss here. Now I can talk about trades and
and just what they could use those picks for and
what they would need. You know, I still think a

(16:33):
lot of times what the trade deadline is is it's
not just to see who's out there, but it's also
for people to realize kind of what they've got, what
they have, what they need, what their season is going
to look like. Are they going to be buyers, are
they going to be sellers? Are they going to just
be uh, do nothing at all? So it's still early
a little bit to kind of see that. You know,

(16:56):
I'm not calling Donovan Azaraku the next Dwaar now, would
never do that. My point is is that Deware Hall
of Fame pass rusher midway through his rookie year was
it was not working out. It was not what they thought,
They weren't getting exactly what they thought. It wasn't until

(17:17):
late in the season he had three sacks in Carolina,
took over that game, they won that one. He finished
with eight. I think he had four like for most
of the season until that last two games of the season,
and then his career kind of took off. So my
point is is that it's gonna take a little bit
to see some of these pass rushers, especially as a ROKU,

(17:40):
to say, hey, you know he's got something here, because
he does. Look, it looks a little light. He's playing light.
He's going to have to use that to his advantage
and he'll he'll figure it out. As for the linebackers
looking slow, yeah, I mean, again, I hate to keep
saying this one game, but it's one game against a

(18:02):
dynamic offense that is very tough to prepare for because
you can't They just have so many weapons and you
you're always looking slow. You know, Michael looked slow. He
didn't look mikel never played well really against the Eagles.
I mean, he might have had a sack or two,
but he didn't play his best football. He didn't ever
wreck games against the Eagles. They they make it very,

(18:23):
very challenging for those linebackers because you got to keep
your eyes on the quarterback, you got to keep your
eye on the tight end. He caught seven passes in
the game, and you know, just just over the middle.
Of course, Barkley's Barkley, So there's a lot there, and
and I don't think playing the Eagles is what it's
going to put any linebacker in the Pro Bowl. I

(18:46):
just think it's it's it's always a challenge. I'm not
trying to get people pass. I'm just saying it's one game.
Let's let's see what happens. I think the linebackers. Typically
linebackers played well in Eberflus's scheme, and I think the
linebackers will be fine. Uh, let's go to Allen a,
clear Water, Florida.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
Hey, good morning, Nick. I'd be feeling a lot better
if they won the game last ye. So I was
trying to get through last week, and you know, I
listened every day. It's very hard for me. I'm going
to try to run through a bunch of points that
I'd love to hear your input on, whichever you choose

(19:22):
to respond to. This is the only place I can
talk about it. But you know, all the positives, YadA, YadA, yeah, great, Yeah,
I agree, great stuff, especially the secondary, a lot of
good stuff. But I left that game so disgusted. I
haven't felt that disgusted about a cowboy loss in ages.
And I just want to tell you why I feel

(19:43):
that way. And see if you understand these points, and
I'm going to make the first one is well, it
was a huge game. It was the first game of
the season. It's one game we had a chance to
take it from Philly and start the season right. And
once again we found a way to lose a game
in a big game. In big moments, our guys didn't

(20:03):
come through. It's always somebody different. It's a penalty here,
it's a drop ball. At the end of the day,
we have become one of those teams that just doesn't
get it done in big moments. Change coaching, change, personnel,
change scheme has the same thing. So that's the number
one takeaway is we didn't find a way to We find.

Speaker 12 (20:24):
Ways to lose games.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
And that is just you know, it's a whole bunch
of combination of things. But point by point, what I
was really disappointed in was number one, when Jalen Hurts
was running on us in the first quarter, second quarter, Like,
did you not prepare for Jalen Hurts running the ball?
You did a great job here and there, How were

(20:46):
you not prepared to take that out of the game.
So that was the first problem. But on the offensive
side of the ball. I was so disappointed in two
major things. One, I was waiting for this dynamic offense.
And if what they were hiding during preseason by playing
Vanilla was all our formation changes, I would have rather

(21:08):
they play our starters because we still only got the
ball to Turpin three times. We ran the ball great,
Yes there was to me watching as a fan, I
was waiting for something more dynamic, more innovative, creative, and
maybe that'll happen moving on in the season. But in
that game, kept waiting for Urpin, especially to get more touches.

(21:30):
Didn't happen. But my real problem is I love Dak
Prescott as a person. As a player, heart skill, He's
got enough, but he continues, in my opinion, to make
more decisions in key moments. And what nobody is talking
about is on the fourth I think it was two.

(21:51):
I think it was fourth and two, where there was
a minute and a half left on the clock. You
got to tell me there's somebody underneath. You have to
have a couple of options underneath to go at the
ball to keep a first down. It's a high percentage throw,
a low percentage throw when you throw it, even though
it's the CD you got to make a different choice.

(22:11):
And the second thing that I think he did do
out that game is on the tight end when he
was trying to hit Ferguson or the other guy the
way I remember it, they were double covered like every time.
So again, in my mind, he's forcing the ball to
a receiver. If there's two guys on Ferguson, because he

(22:32):
got popped a number of times, there's got to be
somebody else that's open. And that is still a key
problem that I have if we look at his history
with the Cowboys, He's won some games on the last drive,
but I think there's a lot more where he could
have won the games where he just didn't get the
ball out fast enough, he took a sack, he didn't

(22:54):
hit the right guy something. So my key's my keys,
and i'd love to if you, you know, if you'd
like to respond to any of them, i'd appreciate your thoughts.
That's that's that's where I'm coming from today.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Thanks Alan, thanks for the call. I mean there's a
lot there they do, you know, finding ways to lose games.
I mean that that is something that that happens when
you lose games. I mean they lost ten last year,
so and some of them were close. And when they
when you lose a close game, that's what you say.

(23:27):
They find a way to lose a close game. And
this team over the last three or four years has
has won a lot more games, so they find ways
to win games. So that that's why I'm like, what
what do you what are you saying on this team?
Is it the last is it this this year? Is
it last two years? Is it the last four years?

Speaker 12 (23:49):
You know?

Speaker 1 (23:50):
I mean, because they've won a lot more games then
they've lost. So I don't know if I'm just going
to say that. I just think, when you when there's
a close game and you didn't win, you could and
then there's a close game and you won, you you
could have lost and you you didn't. So that's that's
the way I just take that. It's very basic. But
I mean, so I wouldn't I wouldn't call anything a

(24:11):
trend just yet. Offensively, it did, it did look good
in the first half, There's no doubt. But then in
the second half they kind of shut down the Eagles,
you know, shut down. I mean, both teams played a
lot better on defense. But I did like, I like
the play calling style from Shody on being aggressive throwing

(24:34):
the ball down the field when when we've looked at
that they played for field goals, I thought that they
were a lot more aggressive there. So I'm I'm anxious
to see more of that. And and congratulations Allen. I
mean you're the first person that I've heard that really
criticized Dak after that game. I thought Dak played a
great game. Now Dak isn't you know, He's had moments, good, moments, bad, whatever.

(24:56):
But I don't fault really him for anything that I
saw in that game. It wasn't like there was a
ton of time. He didn't get sacked though, you know,
he got the ball out quick. You know this whole
like there could have been someone else. Well well maybe,
but you know they're looking for man to man coverage
and you know, for his best player and he still

(25:17):
has confidence of Ceedee Lamb and it's fourth down and
he threw it. You know, I mean, no one. I
mean I've heard the same thing. You know, Dez Des
caught it play in Green Bay. Well, I mean that
was fourth down too, and he went up one on
one with Des. I mean, he had Beasley over the middle.
Maybe he should have done that. But you know these
guys are that's that's the way they they're wired to

(25:37):
find the ball, you know, their best guy, and he
put it exactly where it needs to be. So I
don't have a fault really with Dak for that game.
I thought Dak played played a really good football game.
And you know they they came up short. But but
you know the one thing that Dak doesn't have, He's
not like Hurts and and that running, that running element there,

(25:58):
and and you know, I wouldn't say the Cowboys weren't
prepared for it. I would say that that you could
put a spy on him. There are guys that were
there to watch him. Doesn't mean you're gonna make the tackle,
you know what I mean That teams keat on Barry
Sanders for a long time. They keet on him at
Smith for a long time. He's still made plays, you know,
I mean they sometimes you can just get out athleted.

(26:20):
And that's the thing that's what makes Jalen Hurts are
really really good players because he is built like Saquon Barkley,
and he's throwing the ball a lot better than him,
and so it's just a it's a tough matchup, especially
when you have Barkley also next to you. It's gonna
break here on Cowboys storyline. I'll be right back after this.

You can win a chance to go to Super Bowl
sixty in order to win at NFL dot com Slash
Fan of the Year. All right, back to the Cowboys
storyline here. Last caller kind of took up some time there,
So let's try to try to make this as quick
as possible. And I understand people have points to make
and all that. Let's try to go pretty quickly if

(28:52):
we can Davian and Illinois iss next he's been holding.
So Davian, what's up, man.

Speaker 7 (28:57):
What's going on?

Speaker 15 (28:58):
Big doll? You doing happening? I'm doing well, man.

Speaker 7 (29:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (29:04):
I heard the tell end of that call and got lucky.
This ain't the Twitter space, so we will have some
Pico going back and forth pretty good, because I don't
know how anybody can criticize that after after that game.
That's that's crazy.

Speaker 7 (29:17):
I kind of you.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
I feel like A needs to needs to go to
the Twitter spaces because he said, you know, I don't
have anybody to talk to you like that. That's where
you need to go. You need to get on the
community at Twitter and get in there and talk. You
guys do at least once a week.

Speaker 15 (29:31):
Right, Yeah, we do it Thursdays at eight o'clock Central,
ten o'clock Central Central. But uh yeah, man, I'm excited.
I think, uh, I think this week is gonna be
a good week for us. I think I saw that
that we were we were the top five of pressure rate,
and I saw the Giants old line looking pretty pretty suspect.

(29:54):
So I think it's about that time for us to
eat to get some sacks this week, just in case
I don't get a call in later on the week.
I think my score prediction between the seventeen Cowboys, I
think we're gonna gon do pretty well. I know Dak
gonna come out ready to go. See he's gonna be CD.
He gonna probably get another hundred. I think picklets probably

(30:15):
get a hundred too.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Much different game. Just to make sure I heard you right,
twenty seven to ten or twenty to seventeen.

Speaker 15 (30:23):
Twenty seven to ten.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
Got it? Got it? Okay, I'll take that.

Speaker 15 (30:28):
We I think we take either one right now, anyone.
I just want to dub either way. But I think
I think we own the Giants pretty much, so I
think we should be to do pretty well against them.
It should be pretty I mean it's gonna be Any
game is tough, but we do pretty well against the
Shi no matter what we do.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
You know, usually you see Dak play well there and
you know it's it's a big game. I'll talk about
that when you're off the area. Got any other questions now?

Speaker 15 (30:56):
I know you want to be quick because the last guy,
But like I said, if the guy want to come
on on the Twitter spaces and get with us, you
know we got the captain and all the captains bey on.
So yeah, you want to bring that DAC take over there?

Speaker 1 (31:07):
All right, all right, cool, all right, David, thanks thanks
for the call. And again, let me let me clarify here.
I love people call in and then and throwing their opinions.
They got nothing, they got no issues really with anything
that that that any of the callers said, especially you know,
I'm keep going back to Allen. There was a little
little wordy uh, and I just didn't agree with the

(31:30):
da part. But that, like I say all the time,
your your opinion is undefeated. So you know that's fine.
And and I think that what a lot of people
do is they take this game and kind of say, well,
you know, and just put it in with the big picture.
I like to take this game for what it is.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
You know.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
There there's been other moments where we haven't seen the
Cowboys win, and and sometimes it's been dacted and make
the throw and all that. This particular game, I thought
he played well. I thought he played well enough to
win the game. He had the ball in the final
three minutes to go, and you know, all he can
do is put it where he put it, and you know,
maybe his decision, and I have to go back and

(32:10):
watch that play. I don't only know what was there,
but but but my point is is I don't want
to discourage anybody for Colin and given their opinions, all right,
Chris and Saratoga Springs, New York is next.

Speaker 7 (32:24):
Hey Nick, how are you good?

Speaker 1 (32:26):
What's up with you?

Speaker 7 (32:27):
Not too much. I don't know what game Allen was watching,
but that's not the game that I was watching. I
think Doc played outstanding. That's one of the better games
I thought he played. I agree with you one hundred percent.
I mean, if ceed catches one of those balls, different stories,
Miles Sanders doesn't put the ball on the ground, another

(32:49):
another different scenario, like what Dak miss Maybe overthrew or
underthrew Ferguson one time, he had what one or two
off throws maybe in the whole game. But I think
Dak played had one of his better games. It's just
one of those games. It comes down to one or
two things. And you know, like look at that Buffalo
game last night. If if the running back for Baltimore

(33:10):
doesn't fumble the ball, Buffalo loses. That game comes down
to one or two plays in a game that changed
the outcome of these games, and wasn't on Dak Again,
I thought that I'm very critical on Dak, but that
game he played, that's one of the better games I've
seen him play. So Alan, good opinion, but I think

(33:31):
you're wrong. Alan. The one question I have rewatching the
game one throwd to CD when he dropped that one
pass the other wide receivers literally right next to him.
I don't know if that was the wrong pattern, or
who ran the wrong pattern, or if they were both
running goes it was tober. It looked like it was

(33:53):
going to Tober. Then CD comes and tries to make
the play. I don't know if that was a miscommunication
or it was the wrong pattern run. Don't like having
multiple corners, you know, around the ball at the same time.
What were your thoughts on that album exactly?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
It looked like it looked like the earliest Hail Mary
I've ever seen. Just because you're right, I mean, two
receivers running in the same spot means usually means three
defensive backs in the same spot, and that that's kind
of what it was. So I don't know exactly who
was running the wrong route there or how it got
to that point, but I feel like I've seen that

(34:29):
more often than we should. I think last year we
saw it a little bit too, So I don't i'd
be wrong, but to say that you know, somebody ran
the wrong route or you know, cut it back that way,
I'm not really sure. But you're right because there was
a guy guarding CD, and I think the guy he
was really looking at was the safety coming over the middle,

(34:53):
because I think on that particular play he was already
thinking cuts the ball and then what kind of move
across the middle of the field. I mean, that could
have been a really big play, not just catching it,
but if he can make one guy miss in the open.
I think he's trying to cut it across the field
and then who knows what happens after that. So obviously

(35:14):
didn't happen, but you're right that there's something off about
the way that play looked.

Speaker 7 (35:21):
Right as far as the upcoming game, I got Dallas
winning twenty eighth to ten.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Okay, all right, that's all I got. Thanks N I
appreciate it a theme here. Thanks Chris for the call.
Let's go to Lester in Minnesota. Lester, what's up man?

Speaker 3 (35:38):
Hey?

Speaker 11 (35:38):
How you doing out there?

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Man?

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Good?

Speaker 11 (35:41):
You, I'm doing good. To the guy I think his
name was Alan that called in, all I've got to
say to him it was a primetime game, and you
gotta just follow the money. So who's ever getting the
good money? They gonna be featured on the primetime game.
For the most part, They're going to force the ball.

(36:03):
So just Alan calmed down, Just follow the money. He
threw it to ferguson off and then he threw it
to CD A lot and I know pickings had to
be opened a little bit. So Alan calmed down. Follow
the money. But that's not the point I wanted to make.
I think overall, they played a good game.

Speaker 12 (36:24):
I was.

Speaker 11 (36:24):
I wasn't pretty much impressed. I liked it. As far
as the spying the quarterback, I don't know who they
it looked like they were using Clark. And if they
weren't Clark, he's not. He doesn't have enough agility to
do it. He got enough speed, but he doesn't have
enough agility in future. Just just my opinion. I think

(36:46):
until Overshrowon gets back, if they want to spy, I
think they should use number thirty five or Murray. Okay,
and then I got a message for Jesse Holly. He
was on the other day talking about CD is the man.
He came up to the mic say he's the man.
I'm not saying he's not the man, but for that game,
he dropped too many passes to be that man for

(37:08):
that game, So give me right. I'm not saying he now.
I'm just saying that game he dropped too many passes. Jesse,
that's all I got, man.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
All right, thanks, thanks for the call. And the thing
about it is when when a guy comes out and says,
I have to catch the football. I'm the reason. You
know we didn't win that game. Put it on me.
What else can he say? I mean, what else can
you say other than all right? Goes out the very

(37:39):
next day. I mean, you know, he's we all got
we all got in about five o'clock in the morning.
So he's out here catching passes at the drugs machine
with no one else there. So and he didn't put
that on social media, got put on social media. He's
not doing that for cameras. He's doing that because he's
trying to get better, and he understands that he's that

(38:01):
he's got, he's got to catch the football. So I
mean everybody knows that. Everybody knows that he's got to
catch it. And starting with CD Jesse Hawley, whatever you're
trying to say, like, yeah, everybody knows he's the man,
but he's got to he's got to make those plays.
I don't think his quarterback has lost any faith in
him as well. Let's go to break here on Cowboys storyline.

(38:21):
I'll come back and we'll get finish the show.

Are you doing?

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Not too bad?

Speaker 6 (39:55):
I hope everything's over there.

Speaker 10 (39:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
Good.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
It's been a while. I haven't been ab going to
get through. I've been dying to call, but no, I
just wanted to say I think it was a good game.
I was actually pleasantly surprised they they played pretty well.
Everybody was expecting the defense uh to suck after Mike

(40:19):
cut left, but I don't know. I guess they thought
he was like I never saw him as that world beater.
I liked him. He could couldn't stop the run. So
I think we got we got a good deal. I
wish we got a guy in a second or third
round pick, but this.

Speaker 11 (40:35):
Is what it is.

Speaker 6 (40:36):
Everything's done.

Speaker 12 (40:37):
He moved on.

Speaker 6 (40:38):
We moved on, and I think this team is going
to be pretty good after watching that game if they
continue to get better. Now, yeah, that's what I wanted
to say, and I wanted to say one more thing, Nick,
thank you for my daddy. I use it every day.
It actually works. It keeps my beverage cold throughout the
entire day.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
So thank you.

Speaker 6 (40:58):
I appreciate it very much.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Well, you're welcome, and you know this. This segment is
sponsored by Yettie, so I appreciate you calling and doing that.
It keeps it cold or it keeps it hot, depending
on what you want to put in there.

Speaker 12 (41:09):
Good stuff, all right, perfect, perfect, Thank you, Nick.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Ronnie a member of the All Storyline teen two years
in a row. So he's got a T shirt and
a Yettie. So I understand that it's harder and harder
for guys to call in. So we take everything into
consideration when we're making that those those selections. I say,
we it's really me, but I like Chris kind of

(41:34):
chime in and help on what he thinks. All right,
let's uh, let's keep it going here. We got Lewis Langston, Oklahoma.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (41:45):
How you doing?

Speaker 6 (41:46):
I bet I bet you know, like you said, I've
been trying to get in, so I'll say my little piece.

Speaker 11 (41:50):
Man.

Speaker 17 (41:51):
I was impressed with shoddy system the other day. I
was a little a little hesitant about the dfense, but
I feel like I don't know if it was the
halftime or the ring de lay, but I feel like
it helped evil flu defense out. And I'm not gonna
harp on the Michael Parsons things because I feel like

(42:12):
defense did their job as far as pressures. Now, I
would like to see a couple more sacks here in her,
so hopefully we can generate that in the next couple.

Speaker 6 (42:22):
Of games and see how that goes.

Speaker 17 (42:24):
And I was reading some stats on her. They said
Dallas had I think the second most pressure rate, So
that mean I mean the back end was holding up
as much. And I don't know if that was because
they were playing a lot of zone and not man
to try to help with the stop. The Eagles and whatnot.
But we'll see how they continue. I was reading some
stuff that Evil Fool's likes to play a lot of zone,

(42:45):
so hopefully that that helps and we can get us
some cover sacks. So we'll see how that goes. And
I'm a little I'm a little more optimistic than I
was when the season started. I wasn't horrible, but I'm
a lot more optimistic now after actually getting to see
them play.

Speaker 11 (43:01):
But I ain't gonna hold you too much.

Speaker 17 (43:03):
I get him when I can, and and keep keep.

Speaker 11 (43:06):
Listening to you.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
Thank you, Lewis appreciate that. Yeah, the you know, the
the pressure was there. I think they they had to.
They had to dial it up there in the second half.
I mean, I haven't seen I could be wrong. I
haven't seen Trayvon Diggs on the blitz before that I
can remember, and I certainly haven't seen two cornerback blitzes,

(43:28):
you know, on the same on back to back plays
with Doron Bland also coming in. So you could tell
that Eberflus had to, you know, dig into the bag
a little bit more than than you would want. What
you would would love to see is just the guys
you have out there as a Roku, Sam Williams, Kneeling
Fowler just get there, you know. But it doesn't always

(43:51):
work that way on the back end though. I think
when you look at the corners, you know, everybody has
three corners that they're going to play because you play
a lot of nickels, so you know you really have
to have three and then you know your two safeties.
I think when you look at those five players from
one to five, Digs and Bland and Elam at corner

(44:13):
with Hooker and Donovan Wilson, I mean that's probably as
good of a of a one to five combination of
secondary players that you're gonna have that. I mean, most
teams would probably like to have that. I mean really,
so I think it's going to be key to get
the pass rush where you want it because if they

(44:33):
can do that, they can start figuring that out and
not have to take pass rush from the secondary like
they did with Digs and Bland, but you can generate
some pass rush to their with that those five guys
that they can stay healthy, that I think that's a
pretty talented secondary. So you know, something something to look at.
I we'll see what happens this week. Then they're going

(44:55):
to face an offensive line and a quarterback not in
the same level is what we had with you know,
what we saw was Philadelphia. All right, let's go to
Jeremy in Salt Lake. Jeremy, you with us?

Speaker 8 (45:11):
I am here.

Speaker 12 (45:12):
How you do?

Speaker 8 (45:13):
I'm good? How are you doing?

Speaker 1 (45:14):
Man?

Speaker 8 (45:17):
So yeah, I'm kind of cooled down after Thursday. You know,
I was running pretty hot after the game because I
thought we had it, but especially if that rained away.
But one of the things I want to point out
that not a lot of people are talking out is, man,
I saw some holds that were pretty There's one. I
think it was on the second Eagles touchdown drive and

(45:41):
it was third and long and we had hurts and
he leaked out to the left and Ezra Ka got
held horribly by and and if we if he doesn't
get held there, they're off the field, right.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (45:56):
And I think you I think you pointed out on
your five plays to keep playing the next play, Yeah,
the next key play where he ran for that twenty
yard game something like that, But that should have never happened,
and that those are the kinds of things I know.
You know a lot of people don't like to playing
about the rest but I do. And that just really

(46:18):
got me going because I felt like, you know, our
pass rush did get there at times, but I saw,
I saw, I saw three blatant holds that they just
don't get called, you know, And I thought that's frustrating
as a fan to watch. But you know, knowing that
even with the CD drops and all that, this team
played good enough to win. And you know, look at

(46:41):
twenty fourteen, twenty sixteen, you know, losing that first game
sometimes it is good. Like you said, it hurts, but
it's a good hurt because they know, you know, we
knew it was capable of. But I'll get off. But yeah,
thanks a lot for all you guys do.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
Man, thank you for the call. I think you make
some really good points. And I've said this so many
times and I know it's a broken record to you
guys that have heard me over the years, but I
really believe it, so I'll throw it out there again
when the schedule comes out. I always look at week two.
I think Week two is the most important game of

(47:18):
the especially of the first half of the season, and
especially when you look at Philadelphia on the road, it's
like it's gonna be hard to get that win. I
think we knew that from the very very start when
the schedule comes out. So all right, if you don't
get that win, you want to you want to show out,
you want to play well. If you don't get that win, okay,
but you better come back in week two and win,

(47:41):
regardless of where it is. So Giants, when that came out,
I scheduled that. I mean, we put gut feelings, we
did a video all that. What game are you looking
to week two, Giants, Because even if you lose the Philly,
you better come back and win. Now, if you beat Philly,
you better win. You don't want to be one in one, one,
two and two and all that stuff. You want to
start stack and win. So regardless, you want to show

(48:04):
that Week one is not necessarily going to set the
tone of the season, and you come back here and
get this win. So I think it's very very important
that the Cowboys can can bounce back get a win.
You certainly don't want to be oh and two and
two in the division. So it looks like a very
winnable game, but still it's a division game, and they

(48:24):
got good pass rushers and a good defensive line, so
they're going to have to figure it out, and if
CD and Pickings are are on point and making plays,
I think it could be a good fun game for
the Cowboys there. But another point, and I've heard this,
I've heard this for years. I think we're going to
see as Araku a lot of times where people are

(48:46):
going to say he looks like he's getting held, and
then one of the reasons is that, and I've heard
I've heard different coaches and scouts say, when you're undersized,
they get your hands on you, it's not necessarily going
to be holding. They're not going to call all that
it looks like that. You know, he's got you pretty
good because you don't have enough of that upper body
strength to kind of get away from it. That's a

(49:07):
problem that he's gonna have to figure out. I think
it was questionable. When I first saw it, I thought, oh,
he's getting held, But then when I saw it again closer,
I was like, I don't know, you know, you could
probably call that every play and they don't. So that's
something he's gonna have to really figure out. Is that
he's gonna have a mismatch. If the guy gets his

(49:28):
hands on him, he's not gonna win a lot. He's
gonna have to make sure that he uses his quickness
to get around, bend all that stuff to get around
these guys and and and then get get to the quarterback.
He'll figure it out. I mean, I think he's a
he's a good young player, and I think he'll be fine.
But that's something he's gonna have to work on. He
doesn't just have that that brute strength right now. They

(49:50):
might get there, but just that brute stree now just
push people back, get away from some of that. So
he's gonna have to be crafty, uh and and figure
it out. But I think you will. And I'm I
did you know to see what the cowboys have?

Speaker 16 (50:02):
Great?

Speaker 1 (50:02):
Great show guys. I appreciate that. Uh And and you
know I love I love the call. My favorite call,
Alan and Clearwater, Florida. That's absolutely my favorite call. And
I say that because when you make calls that other
people are talking about, that's what this show is all about.
Robin from Vegas didn't call today or didn't get in.
He might have called, but he's been doing that for years.

(50:22):
And that's what makes a good show is that you
don't we don't have to agree with opinions, just do
something to stir up some debate, and I appreciate that.
So hope you guys can call back tomorrow. We'll do
this thing again tomorrow on the Cowboys story line for
Chris Beam. I'm Nick Eaven. We'll see then.

Speaker 15 (50:37):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
