Speaker 1 (00:04):
The following.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
He is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
This He's Cowboys Storyline with Nick Eatman.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good morning, Welcome to Cowboys Storyline. I am Nick Eatman.
It is Wednesday, May the seventh Man. We have some
news already breaking. Happened late late last night early this morning,
and it all got solidified here. The Cowboys have traded
for George Pickens, wide receiver from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Give

(00:43):
up a third round pick next year, and it's what
third year in a row they've given up a future pick.
This will probably be the player that makes the biggest
impact of that group, Let's hope. So at least the
bar is kind of low there with Trey Lanceon and Mingo.
But third pick next year. Cowboys also swap picks in
twenty twenty seven, some late round picks fifth and a six.

(01:05):
Cowboys will get a six and twenty twenty seven. Uh
swap for the fifth round pick for Pittsburgh. But the
big part of it is a third round pick next
year for George Pickens, who's got one year left on
his deal. Still though he's a highly productive player. Stretches
the field, a big time deep ball threat, and uh,
you know he's got some he's got some other I wouldn't.

(01:27):
I don't know if baggage is the right word, but
I you know, because I don't know much of the player,
but I do know that he's he's been in the
headlines a lot, He's clashed some with his teammates and coaches.
Sounds like a wide receiver honestly to me, uh, and
a really good one. So we'll see how he fits
with the Cowboys here and see what you guys think

(01:47):
about it. Eight A eight eight five five to two
ninety seven. Let'sn't waste any more time. Let's go to
the calls Anthony and Miami's first. What's up, Anthony?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Nick to quick? What's up, my guy?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
How you doing?

Speaker 4 (01:58):
I'm doing pretty good man?

Speaker 5 (02:00):
All night.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
I just did it. I just saw the Pickings thing.
I had did a little security detail real quick for
so long watching it, so I decided to talk about
that and the draft since I didn't do it last time.
I was doing storyliners, and I'm doing it in the poem.
Mack do it in the poem.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
That just about? Are we talking George Pickens here?

Speaker 4 (02:23):
We're talking pickings and a little bit of a and
a little bit of a draft at least three of them.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
All right, right, yeah, yeah, we're ready, man, We're ready.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
All right, let's do it. Change the place, baby, hurry. Well, well,
we traded for pickings a possible great number two receiver.
Only time would tell if he's a coaching votcher or
make such a true believer. Yes, we drafted another first
round offensive lineman, and Tyler is his name. He's smart, positive, energetic,

(02:54):
and wants to take the tackles, love for the game
with as a rock who on one side, Michael on
the other opposing QB's better beware and take cover if
he makes a full recovery three from his injured knee.
Chavon revealed may be our future starting dB. Jaden Blue
is an exposed to fast RB and it's a past

(03:17):
catching threat. If he breaks one to the outside, he's
going bye bye at this. You can bet long shots
Toyo and Holden. They might make a little noise. And
that's how I feel about our off season Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
All right, Anthony, all right.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Uh shout out exact say we the chance to play
his guys.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
I thought that was from the movie mister Deeds got
off beat? All right, thanks Anthony, uh, first caller of
the of the show. Let's talk about the trade. So
let's thanks for the for that. Let's keep it going.
Michael Calton, California. Michael, what's up for?

Speaker 6 (03:57):
What's going on to the whole Cowboys?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Cross him off the list of people that we need
to worry about. Man, it's been a little bit, but
that's man.

Speaker 6 (04:08):
Yes, sir, I'm good man, Thank you very much, and
I appreciate the concern. Even shout out to Irene. She
messaged me the other day and she asked me the
same thing if I was okay, but I just been
working a lot, a whole lot.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
That's all right.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
Well you want to say, that's what I call all
in and I like what Jerry Jones is doing and
I got to make it quick.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
But thank you for.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
Taking my call. And God bless the whole Cowboys pation man,
and you guys are great. I'm listening all the time. Man,
have a good one.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Thank you, Michael. And he made the all All storyline team. Uh,
maybe that was it. Maybe call in. He's like, I
got to get I gotta get my mug which I
forgot to bring here the Yettie mug for the all
storyline team members. Michael made it. He was on, he
was destined for first team. But then you know, like
you said, he had work, work duty and he couldn't

(04:54):
call in as much or or for a while. It
took it took a while to hear from him. But
that's okay. Still made the team. Still a listening, which
is the most important thing. We really appreciate that for sure.
All right, let's keep it going here. Let's see if
somebody wants to talk about the trade. Sebastian and Savannah Georgia. Sebastian,
what's up man?

Speaker 7 (05:14):
What's going on there? Mister even how you doing good?

Speaker 1 (05:16):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (05:18):
So, first off, hell to the Yes, I love it. Second,
thank you Antonio Brown for being such a headache to
the Pittsburgh that they're not willing to deal with another one.
I like what they did here. First off, because you know,
we were all up in arms. I wanted the corner.
We got the corner. I wanted the receiver. We went
and got the receiver, but a known commodity, the Reggie

(05:39):
Wayne to our Marvin Harrison on our team. Because I
do feel like CD's a better guy because a legit
receiving threats. That's beautiful. Miss Yeah, I'm sitting here. I'm
sitting here like, hey, Katy Perry and Gail King must
have brought back some aliens from out of space, because
I don't recognize my front office right now.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
What's going on.

Speaker 7 (05:57):
We're making off seven move. I'm having a great day.
I was having an okay day, and I'm having a
great day.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
I love that pickup.

Speaker 7 (06:06):
Jerry Jones said, soft, rebuild my behind. We're trying to
win now, and I like it giving Brian everything has
But like I was saying online, I hope this is
the start of a Hall of fame coaching career for
Brian Schottenheimer. I like that guy.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah, when he speaks, you sit up and you lean forward.

Speaker 7 (06:24):
You're like, I believe in this guy, and I can
see what they saw in him to hire him. I
just hope it translates to the field. But I'm gonna
let you go. Then a lot of people want to
get through. You have a great day.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Thanks, Sebastian. You're right. Everything you said is right, And
then I hope we all hope it translates to the
field because I mean, let's be honest. Whatever you think
about Jason Garrett, now remember what the feelings were about
him in twenty eleven. This is everyone's favorite backup quarterback.
What a great story. Nineteen ninety four Thanksgiving game. You know,

(06:56):
everyone loves Garrett's he won some games. Come in as
an interim coach, that one in seventeen, they go five
and three down the stretch, win some games. You know,
he's the head coach, all the excitement, and then whatever
you think about him now just remember him. He went
eight and eight three years in a row. So he
has to win and everyone knows that. Nobody knows that
more than than Brian Schottenheimer, who's been around for a

(07:18):
long time. Is that he dealt with it when he
was a young kid with his dad, so he understands
the process. He's doing what he can to do that. Yes,
culture is a big deal, There's no doubt about it.
We heard it several times through the draft. But you know,
and I was talking upstairs with Derek Kiltson just now
about the same thing. This is why you bring in
culture so you can and we're not saying that he's

(07:40):
a bad guy. Whatever it is. We'll find out. You know,
there's been players that have come here with needing a
fresh start, needing a second chance. Charles Haley that you
know that that have come in and we're great players
and then got even better with the culture around it.
That's why you build the culture that you have. I
think he's excited to be here, get a fresh start.

(08:01):
I think CD is excited, and I'm sure Dak Prescott
is excited about it as well. We'll talk a little
bit more about what he brings to the to the offense,
you know, later in the show. All right, Brian in
Kansas City?

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Is next?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Brian? What's up? Brian? Are you there?

Speaker 8 (08:19):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Ali? Is that next? Ali? Sorry? Is not that in there?
Ali in Florida? What's up?

Speaker 9 (08:24):
Good morning, Sarah?

Speaker 1 (08:25):
How are you pretty good?

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Buddy?

Speaker 9 (08:27):
Miss you miss the storyliners? Thank you very much for
putting my name to them. Storyline team. I'm like ugly
duckling of the program.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
But I get there.

Speaker 9 (08:42):
First, I want to shout out I just got home Sunday,
and shout out to Randy. I didn't know. I hope
he's doing better.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Second, I want.

Speaker 9 (08:52):
To beat every mother's a happy, happy mother's day and
just tell them that for every charge they give birth,
God give him fifty cleared the sin for So it's
just like it's a good record to have, thank you
for with his frame. It was an awesome presentation and

(09:13):
I'm so happy to see him smile. And as part
as the pick in his concern, I think it's worth
the shot. And if Cowboys finished in a maybe first
round of playoff, at least they get a very very
low draft pick to Pittsburgh or maybe third round. It
could be the fourth round, but I think it's a

(09:34):
great pick. Hopefully Cowboys have enough start to makes you
keep them in line. And that's all I have. Love you, brother,
miss you, Thanks and thank you for everything.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
All right, thanks, I appreciate that a lot packed into
that call. It hadn't heard from you in a while. Yes,
we we thank you for providing that photo we could
give to Darren Woodson. He loved it by the way,
took it with him and uh, you know, great stuff.
I'd like to think we'll have And we're hoping for

(10:06):
an update today from uh from Randy himself. Hopefully he
can call in. Uh, we'd love to hear from him.
We've heard a little bit. My mom has actually talked
to Randy. My mom lives in Texarcana as well. My
mom actually talked to Randy on the phone and and
gave a report that he's doing really well. So yeah,

(10:27):
I got that from my mom who called in, you know,
to x Or. Cannon is still kind of small town.
You can get people's numbers, so she was able to
do that talk to him. Every everything is I'm not
saying everything is great, but I think that he's in
recovery and doing well, and he's he's excited about uh,
where things are going to go from here. But but

(10:47):
still I'd like to hear from him to tell that
hopefully we can do that soon. All right, guys, they
did trade for a wide receiver today, George Pickens, So
that's I know, some people have sort of talked about it.
There's a lot, a lot to be packed into this show.
It's been it's been an early morning for for a

(11:09):
lot of us, just trying to get this thing done
and read up on this guy and figure out what
what kind of player in person that the Cowboys are getting.
But still, overall, I think it's exciting, uh at least
said it worth the shot Yeah, it's worth the shot.
I mean, that's what you want to You want to win.
You want to win games. So I'm not gonna say
all in or whatever, but you want to go out

(11:29):
there and and win. I think this was of all
the receivers that were being mentioned of guys possibly they
could trade for, this was by far the best of
the group. But it's just that do you want to
deal with it? Is he good enough to deal with
that kind of stuff?

Speaker 10 (11:42):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
And we'll see, and we'll see what kind of stuff
that really is. I don't want I don't want to
paint the picture of a guy. You know. It sounds
like he's the guy that when he doesn't get the football,
he gets frustrated. Oh yeah, those guys. Yeah, Like I
said before, that's called wide receiver and and and how
you can does Bryant was the same way Antonio Briant
was the same way Michael Livers CD is the same way.

(12:05):
My god, CD walks up and down to the sideline.
You know, when he gets upset frustrated about things. He
wants the ball. Great players want the football. Figure out
a way to get him the football. And you know,
I think I think it's a It's a great move
because now you've got two receivers. You see other teams
in the league that have two receivers, Philadelphia being one
of them. I mean, aj Aj Brown DeVante Smith are

(12:27):
really really good players, and that opens up a running game.
Barkley's amazing. But but I mean two thousand yards. I
think it's it's been opened up by great wide receivers.
I'm not saying the Cowboys will have a two thousand
yard rusher, but I am saying that it's going to
be hard to cover a lot of great weapons, especially
one like Pickings, who constructs the field. All right, let's
go to Brian in Kansas City. Good morning, sir, Hey Brian,

(12:48):
how are you doing.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
Man?

Speaker 11 (12:50):
I'm doing great. Glad to hear a good news about Randy.
And just thinking as you were saying that what a
family show we have. Your mom called one of our
sick listeners. I mean, what more of a family show
could there possibly be true?

Speaker 1 (13:06):
I mean, yeah, I was proud of that. She said,
guess what I talked to today? And I was like,
Kenny Gant, I mean, I don't know, you know what
at Randy. So that's pretty awesome.

Speaker 11 (13:17):
Yeah, man, Well, I'm excited about the trade.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
Man.

Speaker 11 (13:20):
That's the first thing I saw when I got up
today and this was a little post by Kavanaugh talking
about the trade, and I was just so excited. This
is the last thing out of all the things that
I had hoped for in this off season is you know,

(13:42):
and everybody, not just me, you know, everybody knew when
we were going into the draft, like, wow, did we
really just go through the draft and not get a
wide receiver? But you know, everybody knew we needed a
running back, we needed a one tech, we needed a
wide receiver. You know, everybody knows a corner, you know,
And this was the last one. This is the last
position where I thought, boy, we we can't go forward

(14:05):
without some help. And this that that just seeing that
made was exciting. And you know, the thing that tells
it tells you what they think about Mingo though, because
you know they they made that move last year. You know,
you take your shot, right, it is what it is.
You took your shot. Doesn't sound like they think it's
a promising shot. And this, this hopefully will make the

(14:29):
big make a big difference. Is I'm now hoping if
we get twenty three Ferguson instead of twenty four. Ferguson,
I think we've got a really legitimate shot at being
back in the top ten offense. Yeah, you know, firing
on all cylinders. Anyway, That's all I.

Speaker 12 (14:49):
Got to say.

Speaker 11 (14:49):
And I'm sure everybody else wants to call it in
talk about it.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Yeah, well we'll see. Thanks for the call, Brian. Yeah,
it's been an interesting morning for sure. Love And you know,
this is this what happens when we do a show
once a week. I mean, that's I would like to
do more shows.

Speaker 10 (15:05):
Now.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
You try to do a show once a week, you
feel like you got to go in and if you're
writing a poem, you got to throw that in there.
You got to do shout out to Randy, which I
one hundred percent support that. But I mean it's one
of those things. There's a lot, there's a lot going on,
a lot of people have things to say. I understand them.
This is just so happens. This is a big happened
on a big day. Got to balance all that. So

(15:25):
as for you said, you said talked about Jake Ferguson
twenty twenty twenty three Ferguson, Well, you know that year
Brandon Cooks really was was kind of coming into his
own there as the season went on with CD. Both
of them and were two dynamic players. And then and

(15:45):
then I think the guy that was benefiting the most
was Ferguson. So that's that's the type I'm not saying Cooks.
I mean, he could stretch the field. They didn't always
utilize him the best way. But this guy, you know,
he needs that's the biggest thing. Like you see all
of these these stats for pickings. He led the NFL
in yards per per catch over eighteen yards in twenty

(16:07):
twenty three. He was the only player in the NFL
in twenty twenty three with two touchdowns in a game
of sixty six yards or more. I mean, and he
had the longest of it with an eighty three and
then he also had sixty six same game. So that's
and I know they didn't have CD on the other side.
So the Cowboys have got a guy that can stretch

(16:28):
the field. That's one thing they got to make sure
and do is utilize him the right way. I'm sure
they will, but that's you know, he's he's a playmaker,
and it's not just deep ball down the field. I mean,
it's it's a run after catch guy as well. So
to your answer your question about Ferguson, I mean, there's
there's no more excuses on that. I mean, you've got

(16:50):
two dynamic type players on the outside, and you know
he's got to stay healthy. But if they can get
a good running game, two dynamic players, I mean, that's
where you're tied. End really should should be great. That's
what it was back in the nineties. Alvin Harper was
that type of guy. To Michael Irvan. Of course, they
had Emmett and then j Novichik sat there and and
and and ate up the defenses all day long. So

(17:10):
you'd like to have something like that if if possible.
All right, let's go to Robbie Koco Beach, Florida. Robbie,
what's up?

Speaker 5 (17:18):
What's up?

Speaker 13 (17:18):
Nick?

Speaker 4 (17:18):
What do you think of the pick?

Speaker 1 (17:19):
I like it? I like it a lot.

Speaker 10 (17:21):
I like it.

Speaker 14 (17:22):
I like it a lot. I My only concern's concern
first and bad. Okay, So the kid kind of a
dumb ass, right.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
You said that. I'm not saying I don't know. I
don't know. I never met him, and I don't think
you have either.

Speaker 14 (17:35):
So no, we're going off in the way the media
and that's the way the team's.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Definitely not going to say that about the guy. I
don't know. I think he's a badass. That's what I
think as well. So that's that's what I think we
need to focus on. You know, it sounds like when
he when he doesn't get the football, he gets frustrated.

Speaker 8 (17:55):
You know.

Speaker 14 (17:55):
He's also isn't that all wide receivers?

Speaker 1 (17:57):
It is?

Speaker 14 (17:58):
It is any good wide receiver ways at least?

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Yes, And it's also old. Let me say this, twenty one,
two and twenty three years old. That's that's how he's
been in those three years. Uh, we have go ahead,
go ahead, rob, go ahead.

Speaker 14 (18:13):
And he's twenty four years old, man, and he's young
still in his first contract with three and a half million.
Oh my god. If things work out and we can
get him on the straight and narrow him and see
he could be together for next five six years.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah, we've got to resign him, obviously, have to re
of course. Yeah, but yeah, I mean I I like it.
If it, if it, if it works out, and and
you know, don't sit here and tell us that Dak
Prescott is this great leader and all these other guys
around him are great leaders and all this culture if
you can't bring a guy like and that's what it's for,

(18:45):
it's for, you know, I agree, a great leader lead
and that's that's I think that you know, we'll be
able to do that. And also what I was trying
to say is is that it's not just wide receivers,
it's young people in general that they want what they
want that now, you know, no one has a lot
of patience. I get that. And it's not just for
wide receivers. For people that that we work in the

(19:07):
office twenty one three years old, they want everything. There's
a level of maturity that all players need, all people
need to figure out. So hopefully that that will happen
with him. I'm not going to sit here and label
him as a as anything other than what I see
on stats, and the stats that I see is that
he's a really great player that can produce. Yes, he's

(19:27):
got a channel some things, but don't we all you know.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, we all do.

Speaker 10 (19:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (19:32):
I mean look at guys Bryant when he first came
to the Cowboys, when he when he left the Cowboys,
I mean when he left the Cowboys, but when he
was on the field. When he was on the field,
he was as we succorded to what we saw. He
didn't seem like he was a locker room destruction because
he was like Michael ever won the ball, was loud
about it one day.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
One day he did disrupt the locker room pretty good.
But you you've seen it, fix this rich you've seen it. Yeah, yeah,
But the thing about it is, oh yeah, is he
worth it? Is this player or all the headaches and
if they're squeeze Yeah, I didn't know we had to drop.

(20:14):
That's awesome. Yeah, yeah, he can be disruptive. But I mean,
but here, here's another thing. You have another I'll have
another dead story about that. But do you have anything else, Robbie.

Speaker 14 (20:26):
No, Man, I just wanted to say that I'm man set.
He's got me wanting to drink the kool aid again
this year. Man. The whole culture and all this stuff
and putting piece into places. I'm getting hopeful again they
could scared men. All right, Well, that's good and I
hope it works out.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
It's called being a fan.

Speaker 14 (20:43):
We'll see like every day.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
All right, love you guys, Thanks sir, all right bye?
All right, I lost my train of thought there. Oh,
Dad Bryant story. Well, the thing, well, the thing about that,
it's not really a story, it's just the way the
way that is his attitude, the what he brought to
the team, the feistiness. I mean, he would he would

(21:07):
always raise the level of intensity of the entire practice
just because he was so competitive. And I don't I
don't know if if Pickens is that type of guy.
I don't know anything about him. I just know that
that I if you're you know, highly competitive, and you
want the ball, you want to make plays. It doesn't
matter if it's Sunday night with the lights coming on.
It can be on a Wednesday morning practice in Oxnar

(21:30):
or out here at the Star and whatever that does
to to raise the intensity of the defensive backs. Now
they're tired of hearing it so now that they want
to stop him. Next thing, you know, you know, you've
got to make sure you don't get fights in practice,
But the next thing, you know, you're having a really
spirited practice. That is what Dez Bryant brought to the table.
And if a guy like like Pickens can do that
as well, and he brings emotion to the field, and

(21:52):
that that makes you have really good practices, then then
your your team is getting better for sure. All right,
let's go to Dylan Northport, Florida.

Speaker 15 (21:59):
Dylan, Hey, Nick, you know, last year I called in
and I talked about the team being like a rudderless ship,
like I just couldn't see like a direction where this
thing was going. There was no identity on the team.
But now with Shady made an effort to obviously get
better in the run game, and they want to be
physical and shot. He said that over and over and over,

(22:19):
and they showed that in the draft by drafting the
guy in the first round, Booker, and then the running
back later. And you know what happens when you run
the ball neck, All of a sudden, safety start shooting
up a little bit, you start playing more stack boxes. Now,
all of a sudden, you've got one of the league's
best deep threats, you know, playing across from a top
three receiver in the league. And you don't forget about
Fergus and either and some of the other guys they have.
But Dickens was first last year. Sar As catches beyond

(22:43):
twenty yards some more yards anybody else on deep ball, so.

Speaker 16 (22:46):
He is a legit deep threat. He obviously has.

Speaker 15 (22:49):
Some yak ability as well. But all of a sudden,
this team is starting to form an identity and this
offense is becoming a little bit scarier.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
You know.

Speaker 15 (22:56):
Defensively, I still want to see them take a grab
a a veteran one technique, maybe after the post June
first cuts happen and there's some guys out there. Actually,
I'm still really nervous about being able to stop the runs.
But offensively, this thing is starting to look good, and
I'm still worried about Guidon, that's a big question. Smart
freen Bother than him, I'm pretty good with where this
offense is head.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, and why wouldn't you be? Yeah, because you're You're right.
All of these things will open up and help the
the others. That helps the tight end, helps the running back.
Just like you said, this is probably one of the
best deep threat players that we've seen the Cowboys have
in a while now. Brandon Cooks was supposed to be that.
He just they just didn't use him that way. So

(23:37):
that's that's one that's the only concern would be, like,
you know, is Dak going to to get him the
ball that type of way? But you know, Russell Wilson
did and fields and you know, maybe not to the
level of his of his you know, desires, but I
do think that he can he can get the ball
down the field to him. And you know, he hasn't

(23:57):
played the other side of CD either, and see he
really hasn't played with a guy like this either. So
that's what's exciting.

Speaker 15 (24:05):
Do you think they're going to be working on an
extension for him right away? Or they think they're gonna
play out this last year and then see kind of
where it goes?

Speaker 1 (24:11):
You know, I think that's a great question, and that's
one that obviously has been discussed. You know, do what
what kind of game do you want to play there?
Do you do you want to say, let's wait and see,
because if he does blow up, then you've got a
quote problem. And do you think you can get it
done now?

Speaker 5 (24:30):
You know?

Speaker 1 (24:32):
If so, I mean I would be fine with an extension,
but I think with him, he's probably not wanting to
do that. You know, I think he would want to wait.
I would imagine, you know, wait and see how this
year goes and then and then see what what what
the market looks like for him. So it's probably like
a lot of players, the Cowboys would like to get
it done, you know now, but but the agent and

(24:52):
then the player might not be in the same kind
of uh A rush.

Speaker 15 (24:56):
Yeah, And I'm seeing the market right now for him,
just some stuff. I've got it on twenty to twenty
five million year average right now. If he signs, you know,
you can push that closer to thirty fifty balls out.
So you're absolutely right. Got to have interest in both sides.
I think it would be who the Cowboys to really
stress it and try to extend him now, but you
know who knows that he's going to be interested or not.

Speaker 5 (25:13):
So we'll see.

Speaker 15 (25:14):
Man, he's got to take the field that Chris Dene
said on one of the holdout talking to him. He's
got to take the field first and we'll see what
he can do. But I think this is a step
in the right direction, a huge move for this team.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Yeah, I agree, all right, Dylan, appreciate that good stuff here.
Let's go to one more collar before we go to break.
Nico and Colorado springs his next Nico, what's up?

Speaker 4 (25:33):
What's going on?

Speaker 17 (25:34):
Nick?

Speaker 4 (25:34):
How are you serving? I'm no chat?

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Yeah, how you doing?

Speaker 4 (25:38):
I'm here I'm doing good first prayers and thoughts outs
of Randy as we all have. We all do that
as and as it should be. And how cool is
that your mom did that. That's ridiculously I know.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
It really was. It's and also I love the fact that,
you know, as big as things are with the Internet
and technology, that's still somewhat of a small town where
you can find people's number. Maybe that might be scary
to some, but in a small town like that with
Texar Canada, like you know, is this your number? Yeah?
And he calls back and then that they chat and
it's like you know, and they had mutual friends that

(26:11):
they know through church and stuff like that, so that
they chatted for a while. I think. So that's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
That's really cool talk about talk about family, as you said,
you know, like Allie and the rest of the gang.
But I do have a fun little thing for you.
As you know, I told you my story Super Bowl
thirty ended for a great way for half side of
my family. The other half it ended up with my
uncle in jel and my mom in jail thanks to

(26:36):
that's how we do football. AnyWho, I mean, you're also
talking to a guy who wears Barry Church's pants on
game day. Okay, so let's just be real here. My
cousin woke me up with the message finally got rid
of the cancer to a headache, and I said, well,
hold on, what's a headache? Well, Dallas is always in
the news. To them, that's a headache, thanks Steer fans.

(26:57):
And then the cancer if he really can because he
wants the ball. I mean, that's not a bad thing.
I mean you've said it, multiple people who said it.
Every wide receiver is this way. But I do have
a question for you, Nick, and I'm wondering if you
could help me. Okay, has anybody checked in on Jerry freakin'

(27:18):
Jones because I've never seen him move and do things
like this?

Speaker 7 (27:22):
Who is Jerry Jones doing?

Speaker 4 (27:23):
I love it? Who is this guy? Give me thirty
years back and do it again? What is this? What
have you been hearing? Is he actually trying to do something?
Is this an apology letter to the Dallas Cowboys fans
for the last crap year that we got last year?
Are you like, really, Nick?

Speaker 5 (27:42):
Who is he?

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Who is this? Your draft? Good? You're trading You're actually
doing something instead of just going well, well, well, well
you're doing it all right?

Speaker 1 (27:55):
All right, there we go, all right, pretty excited over there.
I mean, like I'm laughing because I'm like, it's is
this is this? I mean they this is a better
move than than you know, getting Brandon Cooks and Stefan
Gilmour within one week that was just a couple of
years ago. That has been pretty pretty good stuff. Uh,

(28:16):
the Mingo trade obviously was was not on this level.
This is this is the biggest thing that we've that
we've seen them do trade wise in a long time.
Because I do put this higher than than the other guys,
because those guys were good players that had been really
good and then kind of at the at the tail
end of their career. This, this guy, you know, can

(28:37):
be you know, he still has a lot of football
left in front of him. I don't know what what
you know, what Pittsburgh you know would be like, well
I just get rid of the guy whatever, whatever the reasons,
because we don't know all all the stories there. But uh,
like I said before and I'll say it again, you
know this is a fresh start for him. Different quarterback,

(28:58):
different culture, different locker, a different situation. You know, Tomlin
been there for a long time, and I think he's
a great coach. There's no doubt about it.

Speaker 17 (29:06):
I think.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
I mean, I don't even think that's an opinion, that's
a fact. He is a great coach, and you know,
he just I'm sure he got to a time where
it was time to move on. But but I do
think that it could be a good fit here. You know,
he's probably not gonna be asked to do the same
things when when you have a star receivers on the
other side. But but the big question for him is

(29:27):
can he handle that? You know, if he doesn't want
the football, and he was pretty much their their best
option down the field, then then if he wanted, if
he wasn't getting it enough, is he gonna be okay
with a guy here that you know, ceedee Lamb gets
about one hundred catches a season as well. So we'll
we'll see, We'll see how how it goes. You know,
as we're all saying, let's let's get him on the field,

(29:49):
let's see what happens, Let's see what his attitude looks
like and how he messures with with everybody. But you know,
if he from the highlights that I'm seeing here, he
just seems like a guy that can not only strets
the field vertically, but also across the field. And that
when you have a player that can take it from
you know, stride from one side to the other man,

(30:09):
it sure does open up a lot of things. So
I'm I'm excited about it. And you know, if Pittsburgh's excited, great,
maybe maybe we'll we'll see what they were, you know,
what what what the situation is. But you know, I
think everybody gets a gets a fresh start. Everybody, you know,
start to add zero again and we'll see, We'll see
what happens. Let's go up a break here real quick

To Cowboys storyline.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
All right, welcome back to Cowboys storyline. Here in case
if you just joined us and haven't really heard what
was going on, get that rock off of you. But
George Pickens, the Cowboys are traded for the Steelers wide receiver.
They've sent a third round pick next year. They're swapping
picks in twenty twenty seven as well, in a fifth
and sixth swap there. But the big part of it,

(32:31):
third round pick next year for George Pickens, that is
the trade. This is his fourth season. I believe he's
twenty four years old, sixty three, two hundred pounds out
of the Georgia Dynamic Player. It's got some of the
best highlight catches that you've seen in a while. I
had some really good He had a catch I believe
it was his rookie year that and you know it's hard.

(32:55):
It's hard for anyone to say, well, this is as
good as the Odell catch, but it was in the conversation.
It was in the conversation. Is this catch as good
as the one that Odell had against the Cowboys back
in twenty fourteen? Whether it is or isn't, it's pretty good.
It's kind of like I always say about is Lebron
better than Michael Jordan. Well, it doesn't. If he is

(33:16):
or if he's not, whatever, that's an argument for another time.
But let's talk about the fact that he's in the conversation.
That's good enough. Don't hate the guy because he's not.
Same thing. If it's not as good as that catch,
well maybe it was or it wasn't, but it just goes.
It just shows what type of player that you're getting.
I do have a question in on the text line.
This is from Joe in Stanford, Texas. Joe says, Hey,

(33:40):
I think this is an ideal situation to get the
most out of pickings contract year on a low cap hit.
Worst case we get a fourth or fifth comp pick.
Great move, And he's what he's talking about is, let's
say they don't reassign him, and he's a free agent
at the end of the year, then you're gonna get
some kind of compensatory pick for him in twenty twenty,

(34:01):
I believe. So, you know, we're getting way ahead of
the game for a guy that probably hasn't even picked
out his jersey number yet. So but that's okay, I mean,
that's kind of what we do here. But but I think,
what he what's what you have to do though from
the cowboy you have to look at it and go
all right, you know, or do we sign him?

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Do we not?

Speaker 1 (34:19):
What happens here? And and I do think it'll be
you know, it'll be a situation that that we'll see
how it goes as the year develops. And I'd have
a hard time thinking that they signed him to an
extension right now, but maybe so, you know, it's all
about does he want to bet on himself? Does he
want to go and try to get that twenty five

(34:41):
million a year contract or does he settle for something
a little bit less right now? So, but yeah, this
is the last year of his deal. He was a
second round pick out of Georgia and this would be
I guess his his fourth season with the team, So
final year of that contract. All right, let's go to
christ and Saratoga Springs, New York. Chris, what's up?

Speaker 16 (35:03):
Not much, Nick, I'm absolutely in love with the deal
we just made for mister Pickens. All right, he's I mean,
look at a quarterback that he's had throughout his career
and the numbers he's put up with those quarterbacks. I mean,
he's getting Dak Prescott. Now on the opposite side, you
have Ceedee Lamb. It's just going to be unbelievable offensively.

(35:24):
Like you said earlier, it's going to open up everything.
You can't double both of them, so that's going to
open up the run game. Then once the run gate
opens up, that's going to open up the play action.
It's going to open up absolutely everything. And I'm just
I couldn't even believe waking up to this news, and
I honestly was disappointed we didn't get a wide receiver
in the draft. But in hindsight, I think Jerry just
made an incredible, incredible genius move by taking that cornerback

(35:49):
in the third round this year. Now we have him
and George Pickens. That cornerback wasn't going to be there
next year in the third round. So what we got
now was that cornerback in the third round and George Pickens.
I think it was genius by Jared Jones. And it's
about time. It's a long time waiting for me to
be honest.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Yeah, yeah, no, I think that you're right. I mean,
they knew what they were doing. I mean, they they
knew they had some some moves on the table and
and they you know, I think Mary Cooper's name was
was mentioned. Uh you know that that that was an
option for them. They had, They had plenty of options.
They they they did and now I'm seeing some of

(36:27):
these highlights. I forgot. I totally forgot about him and
Jordan Lewis having that beef in the game last year
when they when they played up in Pittsburgh. But any anyways,
it started to get sidetracked there. But but I think
the Cowboys had a plan on on fallback plans of
like I mean, because if if Ted McMillan was there

(36:47):
at number, you know, twelve overall, I bet the Cowboys
take him and they probably don't make this move, you know,
maybe they make a trade for a guard. So maybe
that that was that was part of the plan. So
you know, the dominoes will always kind of fall the
way they they fall. But I'm sure a move like
this was was always there. And and you know, I

(37:08):
think when when you look at what the Cowboys did
in some of the picks that they made and then
and then to throw you know, pickings in on the deal.
I mean, he's he's twenty four years old. He's not
that much older, you know than some of the picks
that that are coming in. So, uh, he's still a
young player. I'm not saying Adam to the draft class,
but I am saying that that it's another young talent
that you bring in like you do with draft picks.

(37:29):
And and we'll see, we'll see how it all messes
in together, all right. Gavin, Gavin in Oklahoma City is
next me.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
What's up to feel? How you feel?

Speaker 1 (37:39):
I like it? I mean, like I've said, you know,
I just I think this is a good, you know,
good move for this team because, uh, can he play. Yeah,
we'll worry about all the other stuff later. But if
you've got your culture, you got your locker room the
way you want it, you should be able to handle
this kind of stuff. It's not about you know, the
greatest teachers in the world, not just teaching, you know

(38:00):
the kids at the top of the class, that they're
the ones that can teach all of the kids and
teach it and figure out the right way to do it.
So let's see how Schottenheimer handles this thing. We'll see
how Dak handles it, and we'll see how George Pickens
handles a new environment.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Nick storyliners were back in the mix, right back in
the mix, y'all.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Uh oh oh, high expectations.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Now were back in the mick. No hold on, Nick,
I need you to do me a favor. So I
need you to walk next door, knock on the door. Hey,
Jerry stepping the job's not done. If we if we
going in, let's go in. Let's uh, let's make a
call to Jacksonville. Y'all heard y'all not feeling that etn
character too much. We got some compensary picks coming up.

(38:45):
You take this little fifth round and we'll take my
friends Buddha Baker, Arizona. I heard y'all not getting along
too well. Sante Samuel, Why you're still a free agent?
Something must be wrong. You want this minimum? JK. Dobbins,
You want this minimum. Let's keep building this for the
Job's not done, man.

Speaker 5 (39:02):
But we're close.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
We're close, y'all, We're close. I'm excited. Yeah, I'm very excited.
Let me call down and ask these questions and get
off here. My first question is, I don't really make
this move for pickings if I don't at least consider
signing them. Do you think that's a consideration. If someone

(39:23):
already asked that, I'm sorry, I haven't been listening. Yeah, yeah,
is that a consideration.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
It has to be a consideration. You don't want to
give up a third round pick for somebody just to
rent the player. I don't think the Cowboys are that
good of a team where they're they're one player away
from going out and just this is the guy they
need to go over the top. So hopefully this is
a move for long, long term as well, at least
to see how things are and give you the opportunity.

(39:48):
You know, I think third round is a perfect range
of if it doesn't work out, or it didn't work
out and like you know, you get some.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Condole where I'm at. I'm with you on that right now.

Speaker 11 (39:57):
Me.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
I'm sure the rest of Cowboys Nation the front officers
gave us a cookie. I don't give a hoover, you
know what if they do sign them or not right
the second but that's a consideration. And number number two,
what do you think this h What do you think
the team needs to possibly get over the hump after
this move? And all I'll say is, man, I don't
think you'll ever heard me excited before, but I believe blue.

Speaker 12 (40:20):
Man.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
I got my wisdom too taking out the other day,
and after I woke up, they said, why was your
blood blue?

Speaker 11 (40:25):
You know?

Speaker 3 (40:26):
But me and Carolina got snugged from that first team.
I'm coming for it this year. Carolina shout out to
you two, let's go get this. You're sorry, but appreciate
you man.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Thank you all right, Gavin, I thought you'd be appreciative
of you know, second team. We had to draw the
line somewhere, and it really went down to two calls,
if I remember correctly on my list, I do think
you were kind of right there on the edge, but
I had to had to draw it. And actually, to
be honest, I made a switch right at the very

(40:59):
end and added people on the first team, like on
the fly before the you know, like after the show
had already started. I think I just took the four
captains and took them off the team and said they're
off the team, and I moved everybody up. So I'm
scrambling doing some math there. Anyways, it's all the same,
you know, you get the same mug. But it's funny

(41:20):
that you mentioned Carolina, becuz Carolina is actually the next
one on the call. Carolina, what's up?

Speaker 4 (41:28):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (41:29):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Where are you at right now?

Speaker 8 (41:32):
I mean your hometown today, but Streetport, Yes.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
Sir, spent my first three hundred and sixty five days
of my life there. It was fun, I'll tell you
what it was. It was a good time for sure.

Speaker 8 (41:45):
You got a lot of memory.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Milk probably all right, before this thing gets crazy, let's
go Carolina. What you got?

Speaker 8 (41:55):
Oh? Man? Actually, man, you broke the new Swim music. Man,
I just just got it up, cracked up with some
red bulls and I cut on the show and said
we got George Picketts. I said, oh wow, it's been
in the news, but I ain't know if they're really
gonna do it, so that that just I don't know. Man,
that just gave me a Joe energy. You know, they
say people say, oh, I'm starting drinking the kool Aid again.

(42:17):
I'm always drinking the kool Aid. That just got me
extra cup I got to refill after I heard that news.
So now you know, people say, you know, they got
character issues. But I mean, at the end of the day, man,
this is football. No one's perfect and guess so we
need we need a dog, need multiple dogs, we need
a dog pound. We're gonna become a top nch team.

(42:40):
So we're getting the dog. So I look at it
as a win win, and I'm just sitting back and
looking like dang man, this free agency has actually been
pretty decent. They actually they should have said all in
this year, this and this should be slop. It's like
they're all in, like they're giving Shoty basically everything he
needs to be successful. If it was up to you,

(43:01):
what would you guess on the win record for this year?
Who would you I'm going I'm going to I'm going
to man at least here.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
Yeah, I think that's a good that's a good start,
you know. I mean there were seven and ten last
year with a lot of injuries and backup quarterback.

Speaker 5 (43:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:19):
One of the biggest ones was was at dak so
are they three wins better than they were last year?
I think so, yeah, I think I would. I think
that's fair. I mean you could argue, you know, into
the eleven range. I mean, things have to go right
for those kind of seasons. You really have to have
to stay healthy and things have to go right, and
somebody that we're not counting on has to emerge, you

(43:42):
know that. That's what I think has to happen. A
couple of years ago it was it was Ferguson in Bland.
Those guys took it to another level. Who's ready to
do that? Who's going to say?

Speaker 8 (43:51):
You know, I think it should be three players who
I think it should be Lingo and being at that
very good backup option outside of Pickings because we know
Turp is gonna get his tests, I mean him from that.
That's something that you say. And I also would say
one of the running backs and you got it just

(44:14):
how you said it before it tight End has to
get involved. Well know, it's gonna be Ferguson's school maker.
I've seen the interview and Ferguson seems like he's.

Speaker 11 (44:22):
All balled in.

Speaker 8 (44:22):
So let's hope that Ferguson takes this this jump and
moves forward. I mean, this is his contract yet, right, Yes, yeah,
so he's gonna have to He's gonna have to you know,
raise the bar or contract won't be there.

Speaker 1 (44:35):
Yeah. Well, I you know the guy that I would
pick there that I would want to really take that
step up would be Tyler Guyton. I mean, I mean this,
this would be a perfect opportunity for him at left
tackle to kind of take control there. But any of
those defensive ends opposite of Micah would be great too,

(44:55):
you know. I mean, if is it gonna be Fouler again?
Is it kneeling as a roku? Sam Williams coming back
from injury?

Speaker 11 (45:03):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (45:04):
You know, I saw Sam the other day. He looks
really good and and he's ready to roll. Remember that
injury was early and I mean that was training camp.

Speaker 8 (45:11):
So like the second week.

Speaker 11 (45:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Now it was a significant injury. I mean, if I
remember correctly, I think it was a c L and
m c L maybe. So it's a tough it's a
tough injury for him. But he looks good and and
you know his contract year for Sam Williams, so I
think we're gonna be hearing that term a lot contract
year uh. And they have a few guys to to

(45:34):
to resign and they just added one there with George Pickens.

Speaker 8 (45:37):
All right, my last thing before I go, man, didn't
it still didn't feel like a new team injuries is
still different, doesn't it.

Speaker 17 (45:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (45:47):
I feel like it is straggling a lot. It feels
like like how Nate said it, just like this, just hope,
just hope again. And when you got that, man, you
got players willing to go anything is possible. And I'm
gonna leave it at that. Go cowboy, all right, man.

Speaker 1 (46:04):
Well, I'll say this. Last year when they went to
training camp, they had ninety players and they had thirty coaches,
give or take you know the coaches. This year they
got about twenty twenty five new coaches and at least
sixty one I'm sorry, thirty one new players. So of

(46:30):
the one hundred and twenty players and coaches that are
here right now, I think you would say almost half,
about fifty six out of one hundred and twenty are
we're not here last year. So now, Shotenheimer was, that's
a little different. I mean, because it doesn't sound like
you're getting the same shoddy as you as you had before.

Speaker 15 (46:51):
So you know.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
Yes, it's a new team. It is a new team.
It's not about does it feel like a new team.
It is. There's thirty one new players on this team.
And this is that what I'm not even talking about
training camp. When I counted the final roster of the
football team last year, there's thirty new guys here and
that's that's uh. Now, they are not all going to
be here. Some of them are signed in the off

(47:13):
season and probably you know, could could be released at
some point before training camp, who knows. But it is
a different team, it's a different staff. The only thing
that's really the same are you guys the fans, I mean,
and which is great, but but yeah, it's definitely a
new team. Let's go to one more caller before we
go to break. Rick in Massachusetts. What's up?

Speaker 8 (47:32):
Rick?

Speaker 5 (47:33):
Hey?

Speaker 8 (47:34):
Nick?

Speaker 12 (47:34):
How you doing good?

Speaker 1 (47:35):
How are you?

Speaker 12 (47:36):
It's been to get in the last few weeks. But
I just want to thank you for a storyliners first team.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
There you go.

Speaker 12 (47:47):
Chris has my information, so we're good to go with that.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Good good, that's awesome. Did you pick blue or black?

Speaker 22 (47:56):
I picked blue?

Speaker 1 (47:57):
All right? Cool. Fortunately we've had some pretty good mix there.
Some people want the blue ones. Some people want the
black ones. Some people don't care. It's gonna work out.
We're really good, So I like that.

Speaker 12 (48:08):
Yeah. They was at work this morning and I was like, yeah,
I saw I posed or something, going oh no, maybe
it's a rumor. Let me go to Twitter and let
me check it. As the Adam Schefter and I and
rapport and are okay, yeah, I'm in.

Speaker 10 (48:23):
I'm in.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
Yep.

Speaker 12 (48:26):
After hearing all what we got for him and saying okay, yeah,
and then looking at the highlights of them and going okay, yeah,
we got our deep threat and makes you see the
available more as he doesn't get double.

Speaker 1 (48:41):
Teams exactly, That's exactly it. And and you know, and
I would imagine Pickings gets his share of double teams
there with Pittsburgh, so they didn't have a lot of
great options at receiver. He was their best player to
get the ball down the field, so he probably saw
his share of double teams that He's not gonna see
that as much here, so something has to give. You

(49:03):
can't cover them all. It's a kind of a pick
your poison type offense now, and that's exactly what you want,
you know, when you're trying to build this thing.

Speaker 12 (49:11):
Yeah, the only addition there, you know, maybe pick up
you know, maybe a couple, but it's like, if they're interested,
it would be a Nick Chubb or you know, like
a veteran cornerback or something like that.

Speaker 1 (49:24):
Yeah. Yeah, it's been a while since. I mean they
would they pick up your ear Elam. I mean that
feels like about six months ago, you know, and that
was the first part of that was one of the
first trades this team's made. How many trades is that?
Like at least three that I can think of. I
think I'm missing one because I know they traded for

(49:46):
Murray in Elam and now the receiver pickings, but I
feel like there's been another one in there too. So yeah,
there's been some trades.

Speaker 12 (49:57):
Yeah, this year has been very active, you know with
trades and free and see and signing on players and
the draft and more of more of uh actually had
in the past three years.

Speaker 1 (50:10):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 12 (50:11):
So Yeah, the other person would say finding a defensive tackle,
but that's hopeful.

Speaker 1 (50:18):
Yeah, yeah, I mean that that's still that's still a need. Uh.

Speaker 18 (50:23):
Now.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
They did draft a couple of guys late in the
in the draft that they they're excited about, but I
don't know if those would be the guys that that
could really carry the load air field, Like there needs
to be a little bit more of a veteran experienced guy.

Speaker 4 (50:37):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (50:37):
You know, you've got Mazi and Osa and then maybe
somebody else in there. There's kind of a drop off
there to to a bunch of young players. So yeah,
I could I could see that being a move, you know,
if there's a guy out there that you could acquire.

Speaker 12 (50:52):
Okay, all right, thank you, thank you having to day.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
You too, good call. Good hearing from you, Rick in Massachusetts.
Le's got a real quick on storyline. Be right back
after this.

How about them Cowboys? Smeerenov knows there's no eye in football.

(51:56):
cry together because there's definitely no eye in Cowboys. Fans

Speaker 1 (52:10):
The Cowboys storyline. All right, welcome back to Cowboys storyline
here Wednesday, May seventh. It's been a good, good show
so far, been going for about an hour, a lot
of a lot of good calls, a lot of us
talk about George Pickens, a lot of excitement about about
getting this guy into this offense. And and and you know,

(52:33):
we'll see, we'll see what he brings off the field,
We'll see what he brings into the locker room. But
you know, I think this team can handle just about anything.
What they need is a really good dynamic wide receiver.
And that's what he is. And that's a guy that
I think CD is happy about and I'm sure he's
probably happy to join up with a guy like CD

(52:54):
and you know, Dak Prescott has to be. So everyone
seems to be really on board with this, and even
sounds like people in Pittsburgh are on board with it
as well. Maybe they're kind of tired of the act
there and you know what, we've seen that too. We've
seen that where we've had players were good players, but
you know, probably time to just move on. And that's

(53:15):
kind of what what you know, It sounds like it
is in Pittsburgh and again a new situation for him,
and we'll see, we'll see how he messages. But I think,
you know, the Cowboys should be in the fans should
be really excited about getting This is the type of
move that you've been asking for. You want to bring
in a really good player, good young player, and that's
exactly what they're what they're getting. All right, Erwin in

(53:38):
Colorado's next?

Speaker 4 (53:39):
Erwin?

Speaker 1 (53:39):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (53:40):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (53:41):
What's going on?

Speaker 18 (53:41):
Nick?

Speaker 10 (53:41):
How you doing good?

Speaker 2 (53:42):
How are you doing great? So I think it's an
excellent trade by Jerry Jones, And I think all the
fans have been kind of wondering when he was going
to start making some moves. That appears that he's kind
of really doing that. Now. First thing I did this
morning when I saw the news, I text my son
because he was pretty pissed off about the draft. He
really wanted the Cowboys to draft a wide receiver to

(54:05):
help CD. And you know he's coming along now with
the whole Booker draft. I think that was a great choice,
getting a really good offensive line, a lineman like that,
and now they got Pickens to help CD. So I mean, really,
you talk about the fans, they should be really happy.
I know my son's extremely happy because, like I said,

(54:28):
you know, he really wanted a receiver in that draft,
but he got one.

Speaker 1 (54:31):
Now, yeah, yeah, he got and he got one. I
mean after McMillan, and you can argue that the you know,
they're about the same, but after McMillan, you can't get
a receiver the second round on, you cannot get a
receiver that's a playmaker like him.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
So no, and on top of that, I mean, you
draft a young receiver like that, it's going to take
a year or two for them to really come around.
System and stuff and pickings. You don't really have to
worry about that.

Speaker 1 (54:58):
You don't have to worry about that. You may have
to worry about some other stuff, but but yeah, you
don't have to worry about that. But you're right, I mean,
and they're all the they're all like that, you know.
I mean with McMillan, that talk was does he like football?
Does he like to study? Does he you know of
that video that came out when again it's young people
do young people things that happens. There's a level of

(55:18):
maturity that we're asking MIKEA to have. You know, they're right.
They're not all Larry Fitzgerald, you know. I mean that
that's just that there's not a lot of receivers like
that that were really really good and you didn't see
to have a lot of problems, the Marvin Harrison types
and all that. I mean, most of them want the
football and they don't like it when they don't get it,
that's not the worst thing. That's how you shut Michael

(55:39):
Irving up. You give him the freaking football. Same with that,
you know, and and both Pickens and CD you know,
you can't. They make it work in Philly, you know
what I mean, They made it work in Indianapolis. Two
of those guys are in the Hall of Fame. So
there's a way to get the two guys to football.

Speaker 2 (55:56):
Hey, if I can make one more point before I
let you go to get some more callers quickly. You
had an earlier caller. What we need next? I really
think the Cowboys need to try to swing some kind
of build somewhere somehow to get them a big, nasty uh,
defensive tackle for the run and possibly a cornerback, because
what's going on with right now? So and thanks for

(56:18):
taking my call, Irwin.

Speaker 1 (56:20):
Do you want you're third team All Storyline? You want
the blue or the black? Yetti?

Speaker 22 (56:26):
I want the black, all right, And I appreciate that, Nick.

Speaker 1 (56:29):
No problem, No problem. Appreciate you two time All Storyline
Team member. Uh calling from from the very first days
that we did the show. Appreciate you as well, and
shout out to your son. It sounds like he's really
excited about it, just like a lot of fans are.
All right, And we just said that about defensive tackle

(56:50):
and corner but those those are two positions I could
see them still adding, uh if the right move came along.
All right, I'm really excited, excited about all calls, excited
about this one more than anyone else. Hope you guys
will understand. I know you will. Randy in Texas, cana
is on the line. Randy, what's up?

Speaker 22 (57:09):
The quickest of the Nicks?

Speaker 10 (57:12):
How are you doing?

Speaker 1 (57:13):
Who cares? How I'm doing?

Speaker 17 (57:14):
Man?

Speaker 1 (57:15):
How are you doing? How are you doing?

Speaker 10 (57:17):
Man?

Speaker 22 (57:18):
I am? I am at the house. All the prayers
and all the nice things that the storyline and everybody
else has passed.

Speaker 10 (57:27):
Along to me came true.

Speaker 22 (57:30):
They we got our test results back a few days back,
and all signs are they got it all. So I
am as of right now, I am cancer clear.

Speaker 1 (57:40):
Chris, we have anything for that? How about all of it?

Speaker 10 (57:48):
That's what I'm talking about?

Speaker 22 (57:50):
Absolutely yes. And and on top of that, I find
out I made it to being a captain. That that's
pretty cool. I got a few people i'd like to
think for the that.

Speaker 10 (58:00):
Uh.

Speaker 22 (58:00):
First of all, I'd like to think Beyonce, because you
know you I hear bad things happen if you don't
thank her. First, I'd like to thank mister Nick, mister
Chris obviously for being the what are y'all? Are y'all
the coaches?

Speaker 10 (58:14):
Are you the owners or how do we?

Speaker 3 (58:16):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (58:17):
Uh? I think maybe the the head coach.

Speaker 22 (58:21):
Hey, coach, there you go.

Speaker 1 (58:23):
Good question for him. I don't know, man, that's awesome,
you know, Chris, he's he gets it done back there too,
Like I don't know if general manager all that kind
of stuff, but yeah, he definitely like we're not doing
the show without him.

Speaker 22 (58:42):
So absolutely. I'd like to thank both of y'all for
making this show possible for us fans because during.

Speaker 10 (58:50):
All this, uh, I had a.

Speaker 22 (58:52):
Lot of the storyline, UH, ladies and gentlemen touch get
in touch with me and and help me out, and
it meant the world.

Speaker 10 (59:01):
And I just hope all of them hear this and
know that.

Speaker 22 (59:03):
I can never think any of y'all enough.

Speaker 10 (59:06):
And last, i'd like to thank my wife Belinda, for
being by my side to the whole thing. And man,
we're out the other side of it and it's just
time to heal and get back to football.

Speaker 1 (59:16):
That's so awesome. I appreciate you calling in with such
a great, uh, you know, positive attitude all the time.
That's what made That's what made you. And I'll just
say this and I hope I hope you believe it.
I hope other people believe it. Chris knows he saw
the list. You were a captain before we even knew
anything of this was going on. This is not a

(59:37):
sentimental thing like oh we gotta make him. Not absolutely right,
this this was done a couple like a couple of
months ago. It just took us a while to figure
out what we're doing. Shirts are we doing yet, he's
what are we doing? But this, this was absolutely in
the works long long before we heard any of that
kind of stuff. I hope you know that and believe
that because that I.

Speaker 22 (59:58):
Believe that's all some guys, and uh, the pressure's on,
that's for sure. And also I want to let you
know that you come from good people.

Speaker 10 (01:00:07):
So uh, I know what you mean by that.

Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
And uh, well that I already mentioned that on the show.
I already mentioned Okay, Okay, I did mention it on
the show, so you can go ahead. Uh yeah. My mom,
uh she lives in Texas, Canada. Now, the plan Randy was,
she was like, well, there's only one hospital in town.
I'm gonna go up there. And I'm like, really like,
maybe if there's anyone that could make it work, it

(01:00:31):
would be my mom. She you know, she she would
turn any awkward situation into a great situation. So I
think when she called, you'd already you'd already left the hospital.
So she got your number and y'all chatted for a
little bit the way.

Speaker 22 (01:00:46):
Okay, yeah, she's doing great.

Speaker 10 (01:00:48):
Uh.

Speaker 22 (01:00:49):
And she offered to cook me supper and bring it out.
And it turns out, uh, we actually have a circle
of friends that we all know each other, and so
the small world, you know, it's crazy. She she goes
to church with my brother in law's parents. Are well,
she did, they passed recently, but yeah, but no, that's yeah,

(01:01:10):
that's fine. But yeah, so that that was really awesome
with her reaching out like that, I thought the world
over and uh and and that was you know, this
is too good to be true. Guy, this is I
think you need to win you one of those little
any things for putting on a show like that, because
this is this is unique.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
You know, well, I appreciate you saying that. We have
a lot of fun doing that's the most important thing.
We have a lot of fun and and and you're right,
the element of family. I think a couple of people
have already said it. You know, it's a family. That's
what the storyline has been. And it's so awesome to
be a part of it. And Randy, I'll ask you,
we're excited about that, but everybody's excited about this move

(01:01:49):
with with George Pickens. What's your take on it.

Speaker 22 (01:01:51):
I'm actually excited about it too, because I hadn't been
hearing what everybody else's reactions are. I heard did this
guy has a tendency to be a little bit of
a knucklehead. So but the top of man that Shottenheimer
is I think just his overall vibe that he brings

(01:02:13):
to the team.

Speaker 10 (01:02:15):
I kind of think he can.

Speaker 22 (01:02:16):
Calm down guys like that. I just have a feeling
that he may actually be able to get something out
of this guy. And and if if we can, then
here's another one in Jerry's second round, blown out meat
picks that he takes a chance on him that hopefully
it'll hit, you know. And that's that's kind of where
I think that falls in line is because he didn't
really give up that much for what this guy's talent

(01:02:39):
is exactly not.

Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
I don't think that's a fair point. And Randy, I
have to ask you this, when when what age in
your life did you stop being a knucklehead?

Speaker 22 (01:02:47):
Oh boy, last Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
I think I was gonna I.

Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
Was gonna say next year for me, that's that's the
year I planed on stop but nice Tuesday. That's cool.

Speaker 22 (01:03:00):
Yeah, yeah, last Tuesday when I had my surgery, and
that's when that's when life got super real for me.
And and uh yeah, so but hey, it don't mean
that I can't pull it back out when I need to.

Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
You know, that's awesome, Randy. We could talk to you
all day long.

Speaker 22 (01:03:18):
We are going to keep it going.

Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
Uh. I'm really excited you know that you were able
to call when when you did, and and it's been
perfect you because you hopefully you can go back and
listen to the to the show, because I think just
about everybody has has mentioned uh, A lot of people
have have given some some prayers and support to you.
So please when you chance to go back and listen
to the show.

Speaker 22 (01:03:39):
Guys, and I love everyone of y'all for that means
the world. It's awesome. Hey, I did actually try to
call in Wednesday after my surgery. We did, I'm not kidding.
We just couldn't get through. You probably wouldn't have wanted
to speak to me that day though, because I was
I was my wife told me that they were asking

(01:03:59):
me who my favorite mother in law was, my favorite sis,
and then they got to the wives and they said, so,
who's your favorite wife? And I said, here is Belinda,
but I've got two more living in shoot Tall or
Idaho or something like that. And I don't know where
they came from. I guess we were watching one of
those commercials of those sharing wives.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:04:22):
Yeah, and so it.

Speaker 22 (01:04:22):
Got into my into my mind there and so yeah,
I was saying crazy stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
Them for asking questions.

Speaker 22 (01:04:30):
I mean, come on, oh it was It was all
in funny.

Speaker 10 (01:04:33):
Yes, yeah.

Speaker 22 (01:04:34):
They were setting me up pretty good to get myself
in trouble, but luckily I came out of it.

Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
Okay, all right, all right, sounds good. All right, all right, Randy,
great to hear from you. So glad you're doing well
and hopefully everything just continues to go on the right path.
All right. That's Randy and text are can of one
of our favorites. For sure. Let's keep it going though. Man,
I've never been to for the d Beach, Florida shore

(01:05:01):
does sound fun. I mean that sounds like a cool
place to be. Keith is there, Keith, what's up?

Speaker 10 (01:05:06):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
Keith is here, So it's Furndoned Dina Beach, it is.
It is actually on Amelia Island, which is a barrier
island right off the coast of Florida. Right it's north Florida,
kind of close to Jacksonville. So that's kind of where
I'm at. But all right, thank you, thank you for
taking my call, Nick, And I'm going to just echo
what we're hearing is that I'm excited about this trade.

(01:05:31):
The way I look at it, we could have had
a thirty one year old, you know, Mariy Cooper on
a one year deal. We could have a thirty three
year old Keenan Allen on a one year deal. Or
we could have had a twenty four year old George
Pickens who has something to prove and it's basically a
one year deal because he's on his rookie contract. So
kudos to the Joneses and this is this is great.

(01:05:53):
That being said, I still feel like that we need
some help at cornerback, maybe just for the first half
of the year until we can get some of these
guys back. But I would like to see one more move,
and I'd like to see them bring in a veteran cornerback,
what are your thoughts and I'll love hang up and listen.

Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
I I thank you for the call, Keith appreciate that.
And I've said it a couple of times already. Defensive
tackle seems like one where you could get a little
help there, some experienced help. Now if these two guys
and the I mean they're not all Jay Rattlff that
you drafted the seventh round, and even Jay Ratloff took

(01:06:32):
a year or two before he really developed. So to
think that you're going to get seventh round defensive tackles
that are come right in and be ready to go,
you know, that's that's kind of that's kind of far
fetched in my opinion. Now, we'll see, you know, we'll
see you know, Jaytoya and Tommy a Keen Besote which

(01:06:57):
he needs a nickname for sure. But those two those guys, uh,
that they're excited about. But I could see a little
bit more veteran help if if there is some out there.

Speaker 16 (01:07:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
And then cornerback, you know you've got Bland and Elam
obviously revel you know is he will probably be ready
to go at some point in training camp. I think
the big question with with Savone revel is can he
play in a preseason game? You know, can he can
you get him some snaps in the third preseason game.

(01:07:28):
Now you're not rushing it. That's not the most important thing,
but it would be it would be really good to
get him somewhere if he's ready. To get him some
some reps there in a in a preseason game, and
then a couple of weeks later, you know you're ready
to go for the season. I mean, because he's probably
gonna start off on pup, which gives him the option
to miss the first four games of of you know,

(01:07:51):
of the season. But I don't know if it'll it'll
get to that point. I mean, he he was doing
some workout here and they were throwing the ball around
to him, and uh, he couldn't do everything, but he
was doing some stuff and they were kind of holding
him back a little bit. But uh, I think by
training camp he said it, and of course players he
could probably go to borrow if you ask a player,
but uh, he thinks he will be able to do

(01:08:13):
some stuff at training camp, and so I think I
think that you know, when you ask one of the trainers,
their focus is always the first game you know, but
if you know he's never played before, it's one thing
if you're a three or four year veteran, you've played
football in the NFL, and and you're going out there
and you know your but your very first game. I

(01:08:35):
would love for him to get a preseason game in there.
I think that would be beneficial for him. But we'll see.
But cornerback though, that's another position. I think they could
add a little bit there, all right. Next caller is
Rafael in Louisville, Kentucky. I know I've never said that before.
Raphael and Louisville.

Speaker 17 (01:08:56):
Well, I gotta get you. I gotta get yours, Louisville.
If you're from here, it's love Well, not Louisville.

Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
Louisville, Louisville.

Speaker 17 (01:09:03):
They say Louisville here if you're actually from here.

Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
So and I'm not. I'm sorry, Louisville.

Speaker 17 (01:09:08):
That's all good. That's all good.

Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
Lewisville, Texas, Okay, so we will say that.

Speaker 22 (01:09:13):
I know, yeah, I know.

Speaker 17 (01:09:15):
Got louis I was in Austin for a minute when
I watched Austin Girl from twenty fourteen to nineteen. But
me and Chris had had a really good conversation. My
main thing is, I'm really excited about what we did
in the wide receiver position. I was a little concerned
about Amari Cooper coming in there. Nick, I've been following
you since she's on the break with with With with
Derek man Broy So I know that my first time

(01:09:38):
because I told Nick, I said, don't give me to
here we go is I'm gonna give it to you anyway,
here we go.

Speaker 4 (01:09:42):
I'm like, no, don't worry about that.

Speaker 10 (01:09:44):
We got we gotta do it anyways.

Speaker 1 (01:09:45):
You know, we got to do it anyways.

Speaker 17 (01:09:47):
But I've been I've been listening to every every every
every so all of your all of your all your
calls and all your shows and stuff like that. For
the most part, been a diehard fans in seventy six.

Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
Bro Okay.

Speaker 17 (01:09:59):
So my main thing is I'm excited about this this
receiver position. I thought was gonna try to bring a
Maori back, right, Yeah, but to bring this guy it's awesome.
I just I just know, without a shadow of doubt,
Brian's won't get him right. Coach shott Is don't get
him right. I think you're number two, not a number one,
plain and simple. What are your thoughts.

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
Yeah, I think you now. Now, I have a lot
of respect for Tomlin, and I think Tomlin tried to
get it right as well. But but I I think
at some point you got to be humbled a little bit.
Like you said, you know you're number two, especially here,
but the pressure is off, you know, you don't you don't, well,
I will say pressure is off. There's pressure is never off.
He needs to you know, he needs to make get

(01:10:38):
a big contract, but he's not going to see the
double teams that that he was seeing in Pittsburgh. He's
just not. And it's right, the correct Then CD's gonna
have two hundred catches.

Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
Correct, correct. That's an awesome point.

Speaker 17 (01:10:50):
And I hope, I hope the goodness that that calls
him too, the you know, to the d to the
dock yard, you.

Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
Know, yeah, yeah, exactly. I'd love to see him out
there too. Mingo Tober. You know, we're not even talking
about the guy that led the team in touchdowns last year, and.

Speaker 17 (01:11:04):
That part, that part nobody they did ad miss that
because everybody keep saying no number two, number, no number.

Speaker 5 (01:11:08):
Two, right.

Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
Yeah, nobody's been disrespected this offseason more than Jaylen Tolbert.
I mean, that's just the way it is, and and
but but but let's the Cowboys are doing it too.
The Cowboys wanted the draft McMillan, they wanted to trade
for pickings. They see what what we all see? Uh, yes,
he's caught some touchdowns. But who is afraid of Jalen Teper?

(01:11:30):
I just don't think anyone is.

Speaker 11 (01:11:31):
But nobody.

Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
They should be afraid of George Figgins. And you know
what if Tolbert has something to say about that, What
a great year, another contract year, What a great year
to prove all of us wrong. So go out there
and do that.

Speaker 17 (01:11:44):
Yeah, ye put the line for everybody.

Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
Say where you're from. Say where you're from, because I'm
not saying it right.

Speaker 11 (01:11:51):
Louisville, Yeah, Louisville.

Speaker 17 (01:11:53):
But I'm really from Richmond, Virginia.

Speaker 11 (01:11:54):
But I grew up in Louisville.

Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
How did I say it? Louisville?

Speaker 17 (01:11:58):
He said Louisville. But this is Louisville, Georgia.

Speaker 11 (01:12:01):
Is Louisville, Texas.

Speaker 17 (01:12:03):
Yeah, I was in Austin's all right, but we slayed Louisville.
As you've been here, I went to high school in
college here, I went to high school right across from
the University of Louisville. But he there's a lot of
talent comes out of there too as well.

Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
Definitely, all right, sounds good. Raphael, good to hear from you.
Joined the show. But as a first time caller. We
have another first time caller that's calling in now. I
know he's not a first time listener because you listen
to her all the time. Brian in Texas, Cana. Brian,
what's up?

Speaker 17 (01:12:32):
Nick? What's up? Man?

Speaker 23 (01:12:34):
Gad to hear from you again, right, who's your dad?
My dad is Randy from Texas, Cana.

Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
Well, we yes, we are so happy that that of
the news that we got, Yes, sir, And I appreciate you.
You know, somebody has to be strong for the family.
And I met and I met you right, and we
met at the game.

Speaker 23 (01:13:00):
There, the game that we got pumbled at.

Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
Yes, sir, don't worry about that. That's fine.

Speaker 7 (01:13:04):
Game, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
And I met you there, and I appreciate you for
being strong for the family and doing things to send
some messages out and try to honor your dad and
and all that. I applaud you for that.

Speaker 23 (01:13:18):
Of course, Yes, sir, thank you so much. And you
know the reason why I was calling is because I
wanted to thank every one of you as well. Yeah,
y'all have been a blessing to us and specifically to
my dad.

Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
Yeah, well, i'll tell you what. You know, he has
a passion for the Cowboys, like like all these callers do.
And you know, and how if you don't want me
asking how.

Speaker 5 (01:13:39):
Old are you?

Speaker 23 (01:13:40):
Twenty six? I didn't see the lower years unfortunately.

Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
Yeah, yeah you haven't. You haven't seen that. It's been
well documented and that that was kind of my points.
And I say it all the time and I'll say
it again. You know, being a Dallas Cowboy fan, a
diehard fan, you don't really choose it, you know, it
chooses you. In this case, you had no choice. You
had no choice, yes, sir, And I appreciate the young
fans for saying, hey, it's not just about who's my

(01:14:05):
favorite team. Oh, these teams, you know, these guys win,
that's my favorite team. It's about family.

Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
I didn't choose to be an Arkansas razorback fan. It
was my family.

Speaker 23 (01:14:14):
You know, us we don't.

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Win all the time, but but that's what it is.
You know, this passion stems from family, and so I
really I appreciate all the stuff that you've done, and
I know you're carrying the torch as a big fan
as well.

Speaker 23 (01:14:27):
Yes, sir, I am and that, and you know we
will will never give them up. Unfortunately we're in a
rough patch, but you know we're gonna get there. And
I'm excited for the George pickup. I think it's gonna
it's gonna relieve a lot of pressure off the deck
and CD as well. But I just wanted to call
and introduce myself and I state thanking to Irene and

(01:14:49):
Dealing and you course and and Chris and everyone that's
been so supportive of him and us, and it's just
meant too much.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
So wow, And I know it's been a a stressful
a few months and I'm I'm so happy that of
the news that we got and so happy you guys
have have been able to be strong and fight through it.

Speaker 23 (01:15:09):
Of course, yeaes sir, I won't hold you too much longer.
I will say that I'm excited to try your mother's cooking.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Okay, all right, it's pretty good. I can promise you
that pretty good. So yeah, take her up on that offer.
She's not one that just says it and she means
it for sure. So yeah, definitely we'll do that. All right. Well,
appreciate that, and and that's a great Thanks for the call,
Brian or a son of Randy. Uh but you know what, Brian,

(01:15:36):
you can call anytime if you want, or if Randy
just want to pass the phone over to him next
time you call. We'll take two calls at once. But
that segue talking about my mom who called and and
and chatted with with Randy, it's a great it's a
great segue to talk about, you know, Mother's Day coming up,
and just a happy Mother's Day to all of the
mothers out there. Mine included, uh, my wife Julie, you know,

(01:15:59):
great mother as well. And and you know they are
always the rock of the family. And I say most
of the time, at least that's my experience of it
as well. So what a great show, guys. This has
been a lot of fun. We did a lot of
stuff here. We talked about a lot of things, most
notably the trade for George Pickens Cowboys pick up a

(01:16:19):
wide receiver for the Steelers should come right in and
be the number two guy, dynamic playmaker. We'll see how
he fits with the team. But he can play, and
that's the most important thing that Cowboys need to figure out.
How to get him the football and how to make
it work with everyone. I'm sure that they will. I
know everyone's excited about it. Seems like we got seventeen calls.
I think there were seventeen people on here really excited

(01:16:41):
about to pick up for George Pickens. All right, stay
with us here on Dallas Cowboys dot Com because the
Cowboys break will be coming up here. I think they've
made a few changes in their lineup as well, so
you'll be able to check that out here coming up
here in a few minutes. So but for Chrispy, I'm
nick even. We will see you next week on Cowboys Storyline.

Speaker 12 (01:17:02):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
