Speaker 1 (00:05):
The following.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
He is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
This is Cowboys Storyline presented by Gellette, the Official Shave
of the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Here's Nick Eatman, Welcome to the Cowboys Storyline presented by Gellette,
the official Shave of the Dollars Cowboys. I love that,
love that new open, the official Shave of the Dallas Cowboys.
I can't just say it normal. I have to say
it like that. All right, let's do this Wednesday, September
(00:43):
the tenth. Let's just get right to it. There's a
lot of news going on. The Genevian Clownies is expected
to visit see if the Cowboys like what they see.
If he likes what he sees, if they sign him,
this would be his seventh NFL team. If that happens.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Cool.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Looks like he can still play. I mean, he's productive
everywhere he's been. I don't think you know this. You're
not replacing Micah Parsons by one guy, but a guy
like that that that has averaged We did the math.
When he plays like a full season or at least
double digit games, he's averaging about six and a half
sacks for his entire career. A couple of times he
(01:22):
hasn't played the whole season and hasn't been that production.
But when he's out there and he's playing, he gets
about five to six sometimes seven sacks. So you'll take
that on the team like that. If he can still
play at that level, that's what the Cowboys are going
to try to find out. All right, Let's go to
the to the phone lines. Brian in Kansas City's first Brian,
what's up man.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Well, good morning, sir, morning man. I'll tell you when
I saw that this morning, I didn't have any time
to look up stats on Clowney, but I was so
I'm glad you kind of said you put that out there.
You know, I kind of wonder, like, you know, is
he still productive. He's been around for so long, He's
been so many places. But you know this is when
(02:02):
you hear Will McClay say, were always looking, Yeah, we're
always churning. You know, I wouldn't have even said that
that even after losing Micah. What I saw last week,
I thought they were serviceable. You know, it's hard to
tell against Hurts because he can escape, right, But I
thought our dns were serviceable. I didn't think they were terrible. Yeah,
(02:26):
you know, but you know, you're always looking, you're always
looking to improve. And the thing that I wanted to
talk about today and get your opinion on, so I
went and watched last night. I watched the I almost
said Redskins Command Commanders and Giants game, and man, their
offensive line still sucks.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Nick.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
It's been a bugaboo for them forever, right, I mean
it's no secret they put you know, they put draft
picks into it, and they're just not hitting on them.
And I really think they had no running game. However,
the one problem we had last week Russ was still
has enough legs to get the job done if nobody's
(03:10):
if nobody's yeah, if people aren't in their lanes. So
I just wanted to see what you thought about that matchup,
and I'll hang up and learn until the end.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Thank you, Brian, appreciate it. Yeah, obviously different matchup when
you're talking about hurts and and really there's only about
handful of quarterbacks that are kind of at that level now.
Now Russ can still get out there and he did.
He had like forty yards rushing, he had he had
half of their rushing yards. I think so. And also
(03:42):
a little different when you're in terms of getting him
to the ground as opposed to hurt to a you know,
like a running back back there. So, but that is
something that they have to, you know, figure out staying
in their lanes and and and pressure is one thing,
and pressure does matter. Never been one that that says,
oh it, you know, that's that's not a big deal.
(04:04):
It is. I've even I've even coined the phrase if
you will that you know, close only counts. It was
it horseshoes, hand grenades, and pass rush because pass rush,
getting close does matter when it when when you're talking
about getting to the quarterback, because you can leave to
big plays. But if you're if you're pressuring Hurts and
(04:24):
he's just running out and getting a first down or
fifteen yards or even a touchdown, then you really it's
not doing anything. You know, you want to pressure him
to throw it incomplete path or throw a turn make
a turnover or or whatever a bad play and not
so much pressuring him out for a first down. So, uh,
that that is something coy is going to have to
figure out this week, and I think it will be
(04:46):
easier with with Russell Russell Wilson, but still you know,
he could still move and so that's something to uh,
to definitely consider. But going back to Clowney, uh just
he had five and a half sacks last year with
the Panthers, and that's about normal. I mean, he's he's
been at six different teams start. I mean, I can't
only think I can name them all, but like Texans, Cleveland, Seattle,
(05:10):
the Titans, and then last year was was uh uh Carolina.
I know I'm missing somebody in there, but he you know,
when he's healthy and he's he's playing and he's productive,
he's he's getting five or six sacks. I mean, it's
it's to me, it's like having another Dante Fowler type
type of guy. Uh maybe even a little bit better.
(05:32):
But you're talking about a guy that was picked very high.
He was number one overall several years ago, and he's
bounced around, he's played in different systems, but he can
still be productive in those in those systems. All right,
let's go to a champ in Nebraska. It's been a
little bit champ.
Speaker 6 (05:46):
What's up, hey, Nick?
Speaker 7 (05:48):
How you doing?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
How are you?
Speaker 7 (05:50):
I can't complain, brother, it has been a while I've
tried to get him, and boy is it hard these days.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I guess that's a good thing.
Speaker 7 (05:59):
Yeah, that that's a great thing.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
It really is.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
Hey, So I just got a couple of things that
I've been wanting to ask since pretty much training camp
that I couldn't get in. One of the things that
people kept talking about running backs, who's on the hot
seat before cut day with MafA and Deuce and all that.
But Hunter Lepke, you know, I know we've extended him
at this point, but he played the least amount of
(06:23):
snaps this last game that he's ever played before. What
do they see that we don't see? I don't see?
That makes that a good a good extension. Also, I'm
going to be a little.
Speaker 8 (06:38):
Bit of a.
Speaker 7 (06:39):
Bad guy with Pickens here.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
I love George.
Speaker 7 (06:42):
I want to see him do well here. But I
saw a couple of things in the game that the
fifteen yard penalty he got was unnecessary. Reminded me of
the Jordan Lewis deal, you know, kind of seemed like
an anger emotional type deal. And also there was a
throw to the end zone where it's incomplete and the
(07:03):
defensive back gets up to walk away and it looked
like he wanted to grab the defensive back's leg and
kind of yank it. They maybe trip him, but he
caught himself. And I thought, those things are little things
that you know, even though he's been doing well with
teammates and stuff, doing and saying all the right things,
but in the heat of the moment, do the emotions
get too much of him where he does things that
(07:27):
are going to cost a team. So I just wanted
to see if.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
You touch on that.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
With that, I'll hang up and I will try to
get in whenever I can.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
All Right, Champ, appreciate it, very all right, take care
of Nick. All right, you too. Various stute points there.
I saw that. I saw that as well, And it
makes me wonder how many more things are there like that,
the stuff that you don't necessarily see there. That was
a pass intended to him. This was another player away
from the ball. I still don't know if I had
(07:57):
got a great look at the penalty. I don't know
if I've gone back to actually see that. It must
have been. No one's complaining about it. I just didn't
I didn't really see it. I was kind of surprised
that that would happen where it would be fifteen yards
like that would kill her well, could have been a
killer penalty and then and then they ended up getting
another penalty back. I still think it was a big
(08:19):
play though. It was a big moment, that whole sequence there,
because if you don't get that, you're probably continuing to
run it. Maybe you get a field goal, maybe you don't.
Maybe Miles Sanders he fumbles, then I don't know if
he was if he was destined to fumble. But going
back to Pickens, I mean, yeah, it's you get what
(08:39):
you get. I mean, like like that's that's part of
the whole thing. Jason Garrett's line, it comes with the
dinner to be that type of player, to be that
kind of dog, if you will, bulldog from Georgia. If
to be that type of guy that can go out
and make plays the way he makes. It comes with
with the price, It comes with with the emotion. It
(09:00):
comes with a lot of things. And he's got to
learn to check that. And that's that's him growing up
and maturing as a player. That's the kind of stuff
I think Pittsburgh said we could live without. And that's
that's always a tough balance. You know, you you what
can you tolerate? And so we knew this time was coming.
(09:21):
And I'm not saying it's bad or anything yet, but
we you know, there's a reason why, there's a reason
why everybody gets traded. Pickens got traded, Micah got traded.
And right now Green Bay fans are thinking, wow, we
get this guy. Okay, we don't have a first round pick.
We've got this guy. And and they're right, there will
(09:42):
be a time when they're like, Okay, why did he
do that? Why did he say that? You know, whatever
it is? And and let me also say, there will
be a time when everything kind of comes out. And
if you're wherever you are, this Micah Parsons trader, you're
going to look back and go hmm, okay, makes a
(10:03):
lot of sense. It'll all come out at some point,
all right, Chris and Saratoga Springs, what's up?
Speaker 6 (10:09):
Hey? Nick?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
How are you good? How are you? You're starting to
call a lot man? You got the secret sauce you're
getting in here?
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Well, that's what you get from working from home.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
You're gonna you're getting on that all storyline team. There's
no doubt about it.
Speaker 6 (10:22):
Right, I'm hoping. I was just talking the Beam about that.
I'm like, I want to get on that list. I
want to get on that list.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah, we had to go back to T shirts. I mean,
I like the Yetties. You know this this seventh isn't
officially sponsored by Yetti. Maybe the next one. I love
the Yetties, but I've got to go back. I mean,
you can't beat a good T shirt. So that that's
the plan, especially when we got Gillette as the sponsor.
See if we can, we can cut a deal with them.
All right, it's my bad joke of the day. What
(10:51):
do you got, Chris?
Speaker 6 (10:52):
Uh, Well, you already talked a little bit about Clowney.
I'm really kind of hoping they sign him. He could
be like a commander of how they signed the defense
of him. He's pulled for Bunver. I'm having a brain
fart with the name. He played for Buffalo last year.
Why am I.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Having a von Miller?
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Yeah, he could be like a von Miller type of
situational pass rusher. I think he's just as good, if
not better, than Dante Fowler, So I would I would
definitely like to see them sign him, as well as
keep giving Houston a little bit more opportunities. I think
he's just a he shows up. Every time he's out there,
he's making a play. Kind of reminds me on the
offensive side of the ball, like Rock Hoffman, like you
(11:32):
wouldn't expect anything out of the guy. But every time
he's in there, he's he's producing, he's playing well. So
I think they should also give Houston some more opportunities.
And the only other thing I would like to see
a little bit more Dallas do is Florine get him
into the game. I'm not a big fan of Tolbert, don't.
I don't know. It's his fourth year. He hasn't done
a lot for me personally on the offensive side of
(11:54):
the ball. I love Flornae and his.
Speaker 9 (11:57):
In his.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
I don't know, he's he has the talent in athleticism.
I think we should give him more of a shot
at that four until Mingo gets back. I'm just not
a huge fan of Tobert. He's got to show me
more than what he showed me in the past three
to four years, to be honest.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Okay, all right, well thanks for the call. I appreciate it.
Chris uh Flinoy the one to get it in my
head differently. He's kind of a weird name to pronounce.
I think it's Ryan Flinoy to keep it there because
because what happens is is that I'll say it the
wrong way, like on the radio or something like that.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
So but.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
I'm not down on Tolbarth the way a lot of
people are. I just uh, he got you know, he
got passed over like he was the number well it
was number two mainly because Cooks was hurt. But you know,
he was number two and he scored some touchdowns and
he was productive last year. Wouldn't eye opening. I mean
to the point where they were like, we got to
go trade for Pickens or whatever. So they did that,
(12:56):
and then I think that you know that they feel
like Turpin's gonna gonna just do more for the offense
as well. But you know, get an injury knock on Wood,
but one of those top two guys, I think you
might be okay having uh, a guy like Jalen Tolbert
out there, so I see his I see his role.
I'm I'm just not I'm not down on him like
(13:18):
the way some of the others are. So but well,
we'll see. I'd be surprised if he was inactive uh
for this game, and you know they they got to
get fillinoy up down the roster too. All right, let's
go to Michael Bowling, Green, Kentucky.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
What's up?
Speaker 10 (13:36):
Yeah, man, yes, hey, Uh, I think uh Sunday we're
gonna win. I think I'm going uh thirty one to
ten Dowllas. But I think it's a no win situation
because explain when we win, when we beat the.
Speaker 11 (13:57):
Giants, you know it's gonna be that well, you.
Speaker 12 (14:01):
Know, the Giants aren't any good.
Speaker 11 (14:03):
You know, you you lose to the to a good team,
then you just beat up on a bad team, same
old Cowboys. Yeah, I think that's what people say. But
if they lose by chance, they won't. But if they did, oh,
you know, they can't even be the winning team.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (14:20):
I think it's a no win situation. But I think
we're gonna take care of business. I think you know,
Dallas can go in there. Dak's gonna you know, they're
going to generate four touchdowns, probably run in pass and
then you know, get a field goal and the defense
is gonna gonna come up. You're going to see the
(14:40):
defense of the second half of this Eagles game, the
whole game. I believe that's my teas.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
All right, Well, well you got anything else.
Speaker 11 (14:52):
That I gave a score, gave my still try and
get off and let somebody else get off.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Appreciate it, all right, Michael, don't necessarily I mean I
don't agree with that no win. I mean, you get
a win that that's a win, So that would not
be a no win. It would just be a yes
win because you know, they got to get to one
and one, and they've played the New York Giants every
year that they they've had a football team, So for
(15:18):
sixty five years they've played the Giants. They played them mostly,
they play them twice. So who cares what people say?
You play the Giants, You play your team. You mean,
you play your schedule. It is what it is. I mean,
trust me, look at this schedule. There's plenty of games
out there that are that are going to be challenging,
and this one could be as well. I mean it
it might be. It's gonna be. It's gonna be tough
(15:40):
for a little while. I think the colleges are gonna
have to make sure that they they handle their business
or you know, don't mess around or, as Patrick Walker
would say, don't quit playing with your food. He says
that a lot about Georgia Bulldogs get off to a
slow start, you know, but you know, don't don't do that.
But but I you know, if you if you, if
you get a win, you get a win. I think
I think it. I mean that I wouldn't worry about
(16:02):
what anyone says. You got to play the schedule that's
in front of you, and this is a division game,
and you got to go out and get it. And
so I mean, I don't I don't know who would
be saying that. I think they would be like, hey,
good bounce back win for the Cowboys. Tough loss in
Week one. What they did what they're supposed to do,
and that's what you're supposed to supposed to beat teams
like this. Now they haven't done anything yet. I mean this,
let's not just chalk this up. I mean, this is
(16:22):
going to be a I think it's going to be
a challenge. We'll find out. We'll find out. I mean
for all the stuff. You know, Jason Garrett got blamed
all the time for being vanilla, being the clapper, being
eight and eight whatever, But they win games like this
like his teams would go out and win games. McCarthy,
same thing. They win this game. So that that's let's
(16:43):
see if shot shot he's got got that. I would
love to see a video, you know, after the game
at three three fifteen, you know, and and at at
and T Stadium where Dak is handing football to Shoddy
and saying, you know, congrats on your first win and
all that stuff. And that's that's what needs to happen.
(17:05):
And I think, you know it too bad it didn't happen
last week, but could happen this week. Let's go to
Dylan north Port, Flora. Dylan, what's up, hey, Nick? How
you doing good? How are you hey?
Speaker 6 (17:14):
Man? I'm good.
Speaker 10 (17:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (17:15):
It's a it's a win situation if they win, so
I don't Yeah, who cares what people say. Only people
saying that kind of stuff are stupid and they look
at you know, the the rerecords and the schedules and stuff.
At end of the year, if it's a loss, then
you know you're out of the playoffs. It's it's a win, Okay,
it's a win. Move on, it's great.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Got to move on.
Speaker 13 (17:31):
To stack them up, yeah, stack them up. And these
are the ones you got to stack up up until
Green Bay here for sure.
Speaker 9 (17:37):
Right.
Speaker 13 (17:39):
Yeah, last night I couldn't sleep, so, just being the
degenerate that I am football wise, I came in my
office and I turned on the ALL twenty two and
I was really curious. I was thinking about this all
day and I didn't look into it, but last night
was a good time. I was curious about the orbit
motion and how they how many times they ran that,
and how successful it was against the Eagles.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
And just for.
Speaker 13 (18:00):
Anybody who's listening, that's just when the receiver goes the
motion behind the running back and the quarterback, and you know,
it can help bump the linebackers out, bring the safeties down,
or back the safeties up, depending on what the defense
is doing. It is basically used to create mismatches and opportunities
and stuff. So in doing that, I actually looked at
all the motion. I charted all the motion plays, all
(18:20):
the no motion plays up until the weather delay, and
they ran thirty plays with motion, fifteen plays without motion,
and their success rate was sixty seven percent on you know,
when they use motion, versus fifty three percent when they didn't.
And that's plays you know, four plus yurds, touchdown, positive penalty,
third and short conversion. All those things are included in
positive plays. But was interesting to me is specifically.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
That orbit motion.
Speaker 13 (18:46):
One of the handoffs to Turpin there, CD came around
in an orbit motion and it you know, it carried
the linebacker out of the box and it looked like
it was an option play for Dak Tather handed off
depending on what that linebacker did pre snap, Tither handed
off to Turpin, or it was a wide receiver screen
on the other side to CD, who was you know,
the motion guy. And then the big run by Miles Standers.
Another one in orbit motion. That was when Turpin came
(19:07):
across the field, took Bond out of the box and
they ran it too the left. Of course, Bond tracked
him down because he's a freaking it. This great play
by him. But I mean that play was, I mean,
it was amazing, the design, the execution. Terrence Steel knocked
the guy off of his feet, you know, just stuff
like that with Shody. I love seeing all the use
(19:27):
of the motion and not just sending guys just to
send guys around, but like with a purpose like motion
with a purpose, right, So the very exciting to see.
I want to see more of that and then just
super quick one thing. These wide receivers, man, they got it.
They gotta do a better job at run blocking. I
was watching that as well last night. None of them
are really good at it. Ect until he gets to
flor and oif you didn't even play he don't think
he took a snap of wide receiver. But all the
(19:48):
other guys, whether willing or not, none of them are
any good at run blocking. So they got to see
a better better involvement and better effort and better execution
on that part there.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
All right, all right, Dylan, appreciate it. Maybe there's a
spot for you on the analytics team. I mean they
got like eight guys over there or eight people over there,
Maybe there's a spot for you. You certainly have it
broken down and obviously have a passion for it. I
like what you said about the motion with a purpose,
(20:16):
but sometimes you do it without a purpose. I mean
the purpose is that it's a disguise. So and I'm
sure we saw some of that as well, But yeah,
what I like about it is it's just we know
that the field's one hundred yards long, but it's also
fifty three yards wide, and that's a lot of room
to do things and move people around, especially when you
(20:38):
have some speed and weapons and things like that. So
I'm a fan of that, and I think sometimes with
McCarthy's offense, I think it gets too bunched up. And
that's fine. If you've got these overpowering linebacker i mean,
tight ends and offensive tackles that could just you know,
maul people, then fine, just play it inside the box
(21:00):
and do that. But when you don't have that, when
your tight ends aren't like incredibly great run blockers, and
your your offensive line isn't going to just push people around,
then you have to utilize it that way. And so
I kind of like what I'm seeing so far and
sounds like you you, you know, did a really nice
job of breaking it down. Let's, uh, let's get one
(21:21):
more call before we go to break Josh and Princeton.
What's up, Josh? Hey, Nick, how are you doing?
Speaker 6 (21:27):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 14 (21:28):
Fun fact, So, I live in Princeton, Texas, which is
in Common County, but I my office is right up
here about a star. I'm probably about five minutes away.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
I work all right, Parkwood.
Speaker 12 (21:42):
I just want to throw that out there.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Okay, maybe maybe I'll see you. Yeah, I know where
that is.
Speaker 12 (21:48):
Yep, I'll come up there, you know quite often.
Speaker 14 (21:51):
Yeah, I just want to do that.
Speaker 12 (21:53):
But I want to make a comment on the guy
they called I think it was Monday Allen. I'm gonna
take the aggressive and decisive deck every time. No, like
the one that holds on to the ball in this
conservative I don't.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
Want that deck.
Speaker 12 (22:12):
I want the one that played in that Eagles game.
I'm gonna take him every time.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
And and he'll throw some interceptions. No, no, No. What
I'm saying is is that like, and you're fine he
throws an interception or two something, maybe at the worst
moment of before a half or something. I'm just saying,
you have to take it all like, like, if you
want I like that aggressive aggressive that guy you know
those aggressive home run hitters strike out. So yeah, I'm saying,
(22:40):
if you're if you're good with all of it, That's
what I'm asking, If you're good with all of it
that and I think I am. I think I am.
I like the aggressive deck.
Speaker 12 (22:48):
Well, I've never I've never killed Dak for all of
the interceptions, even when he let the lead it was
just a out of nuance to those to those picks.
Speaker 8 (22:58):
I mean, I'm a I'm a Romo guy.
Speaker 12 (23:00):
You know, I never killed room up for the pick,
So yeah, I think I'm good with all of it too.
The main thing I was calling for is I was
listening at one of the other shows and they were
nit picking wide receiver blocking, and I was kind of thinking, like, like,
(23:20):
what are we talking about here? You know, I don't
want CD and pickings and turfings. I don't want them
to be so heavily focused on blocking. Like I just
think that that's a reach. I may be over overthinking it,
but I didn't have a problem with I mean, I
guess they were trying to say that it was a
(23:41):
lack of engagement on wide receiver blocking, but yeah, that's
just not a concern for me. And I would like
to know, like you know, from some of the other
callers in Europeans as well. You know, I don't think
that's a that's a big deal. I mean, sure it
can you know, make a good running game great, you know,
(24:02):
if you if your wide receivers they engage. But that's
just I don't think I want my top receivers overly
concerned with blocking.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
All right, all right, I love it, all right, Josh,
we're gonna move it on. Thanks for thanks for that point.
So I love this show because what two calls in
a row, one of them the one of them. Dylan
just said, now that the blocking from the receivers is terrible,
It's got to get better. Josh is like, ah, I
don't know if I care about that kind of stuff.
I don't know. Sometimes when you're on hold, I don't
(24:32):
think you can necessarily hear the call that's that's happening
right there. So that that was interesting that they both
brought that up. Me personally, I think I'm I'm kind
of in between. I think you're not here because of
your blocking, but you're out there so you could help,
and the more you can do and so be a
(24:54):
willing blocker. You don't have to be the best. I'm not.
I'm not. This isn't eye hoop. I don't need you
to have pancakes. But what I what I do need
is for you to get in the way and hold
it up and maybe, you know, let the guy get
behind you. You know, Terrence Williams is a guy I
remember is a really good downfield blocker and so you
can be good at it. I don't know if you
have to be great at it, but you definitely need
(25:15):
to be good. Let's go to break real quick on
Cowboys storyline. Be right back after.

All right, the search is on for the twenty twenty
five Fan of the Year, presented by Captain Morgan. You
can nominate someone win a trip to Super Bowl sixty
in or to win at NFL dot com Flash Fan
of the Year. All right, Captain, time, let's go to
Rob in Vegas. Hey, Nick, how are you doing?
Speaker 8 (27:22):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 10 (27:23):
How are you good?
Speaker 9 (27:24):
Good?
Speaker 1 (27:25):
You got.
Speaker 8 (27:27):
The last call that I've said. He's not worry about
the receivers blocking, that's not the point. If you have
players think this is beneath them, you're going to have
a bad team. When you're on the field, you do
whatever it takes to win. So yeah, if Ceedee Lamb says, listen,
they're not paying me to block, we have a problem
(27:50):
bringing in a clowney. I think it's good for a
couple of reasons. One, he's productive. He's like a part
time player, but he gets results. He also looks the part,
and he has the name. So the offense just has
to look at him and say, hey, that's a clown.
You know, let's pay a little attention. If they pay
(28:12):
a little more attention to him, maybe it freeze up
somebody else. At Least he's he's and he's good against
the run. He's not a two hundred and forty pounds
you know guy. So I'd like bringing anybody that can
help this team. I don't care who they're from. You know,
as a fan, we got to hope that the Cowboys
(28:33):
stay in it till at least the trade deadline. And
then with these picks, like I'll give you a scenario,
I'll see what you think we're talking about. Pickens pickets
is good, is going to command let's say thirty million dollars.
That's what I think the guy in Cincinnati got Higgins.
(28:55):
So let's just say that's the going rate. And let's
say Pickens has a good year in Dallas and he
gets I don't know, eight nine hundred yards, you know,
but now you got to trade that line. The Cowboys
are in it were in first place or right there
with you know, Philadelphia, Washington. Would you be willing to
trade for Trey Hendrickson out of since let's say Cincinnati
(29:19):
is not doing good, and I think that's a very
good possibility. Here's a thirty year old defensive vent who's
led the league where like seventeen facts each year. He's
really good. He's getting paid thirty million dollars right now,
which it sounds crazy, but it's a bargain now, right right,
So would you be willing to trade for him. Let's
(29:43):
say you got to give up at number two. I
don't think you'd have to give up at number one,
but you know, if you sign him, you're gonna have
he's got one ideas, You're gonna have to re up him.
Would you rather re up him or pickings because you
know Jerry ain't doing both.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, all right, I mean what else? What else you got, Rob?
We're gonna keep it moving that that's good. I'm gonna talk.
Speaker 6 (30:07):
I'm gonna talk about it.
Speaker 8 (30:10):
I think, listen, this is a must win game. You
hope Thursday night Philadelphia loses to the Chiefs and then
we usually kicked the Giants. Ask Dak. I think he's
only lost one since he's a rookie. If they lose
this game somehow or look poor, then we got a problem.
But I don't see that.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
All right, all right, Rob, appreciate that. Got a couple
more days to call in we can get picked then,
thanks for the call. He has not lost since his
rookie year to the Giants. They've only lost once and
Andy Dalton was the quarterback there. It was twenty twenty.
They have not lost since twenty sixteen. Dak lost his
first two games that he lost were to the Giant
(30:50):
like Week one and Week eleven or something like that.
But yeah, I mean the trade part that that's interesting.
I mean, you know, we can't talk about maybe a
guy from another team. I can't at least, but but
I think you know, knowing that that they were willing
to pay a pass pressure in Micah Parsons, you know,
very good money, like outstanding money just wasn't enough. It
(31:14):
wasn't anywhere close to what he got. But you know
it's in the budget, right and you know, that's something
that they were kind of looking for. Now, maybe not
the same age, so that that's kind of what's hurting
Hendrickson and why he's not signing or maybe why he
hadn't signed the same type of deal. But something to
to consider and monitor the whole George Pickens thing and
(31:36):
where what's gonna happen with him contract wise and how
he does, how he performs, how he handles himself, all
those those things, his agent. You know, I think the
Cowboys are somewhat familiar with him, same one as Micah.
So all that's going to be interesting to see how
it plays out. All right, let's go to our next caller.
It's first time caller. Joe's in is Equipment Texas. Maybe Joe, what's.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Up making make the comments that our defensive line deaf integrity. Okay,
that's what cost us the game first half. They didn't
maintain that death integrity and that quarterback you know hertsfield. Uh,
(32:22):
second half, they maintained the deaf integery linebackers improved and
they should have won the game with what they scored
if they'd have kept their death integrity throughout the game.
All right, that was that was the only observation.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Joe, Were you a coach? No, sound like you sound
like you know. I like the terminology there. It sounds
like you've you've been and you've been a coach at
some point.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Nine sixty eight year old fan been fans for a
Alas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Well, you know you're a first time caller, so you
know what that means. Here we go, here, here we go. Joe,
appreciate the call. Thank you for that. And and and
I'll and I'll talk about it here when off the air,
all right.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
And hopefully the coach will just push run to do
that all games.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
For sure, all right, Thank you so gap integrity, staying
staying in your lanes. And and it's so it's the
Eagles are are just they're a challenge. I mean, that's
why they win the Super Bowl. Like they they make
it tough. They make you look silly. Hurts does that
what are you are you going with? Hurts? Are you
(33:46):
going to go with Barkley. It looks like it's going
to be Barkley.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
Now.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
It's hurts, and I mean just the second of your
eyes going here and there, it's it's tough, and they
I don't like giving them a pass. Okay, because that's
that team in your division. Figure out a way to
beat them. Okay, This is not me saying maths the Eagles.
We'll see how they are. I know I've said that,
but you got to go beat them. So and you
(34:10):
got to have, like Joe says, you gotta have gap integrity.
You gotta have that. Just remember my point is is
that they're really good and so if you're not, I mean,
the Cowboys weren't eating anywhere close to that neighborhood. As
far as how good the Eagles were, now they look
like they're they're they're right down the street, if not
right there, So we'll we'll we'll see how good they are.
(34:31):
But as far as that defensive line, yes, young players
trying to make a play. They they they're it's a
little different than than that they used to have, you know,
with with Mike over here. Now that they're going to
have to be a lot more discipline in what they're
doing on the defensive line. So all right, Joe, good stuff.
All right. Our next caller is from Kansas City. Casey Joe,
(34:54):
Good morning, Nick. What's up? How are you all right?
Speaker 10 (34:56):
Sir?
Speaker 18 (34:57):
How are you doing today?
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Seems like you always call when Brian and Kansas City calls.
I don't know. I know, yeah, I know, it's a
big place. But hey, everyone's pulling for the Chiefs this week.
Chiefs to beat the Eagles and get back on the
winning track. So what's that.
Speaker 12 (35:12):
It's hard.
Speaker 18 (35:13):
It's hard for me to root for them because you
know they have this red Friday. I tell everybody it's
Blue Friday because you know, it's our day. But anyway,
so that's on Fridays. It's Blue Friday here, you know.
But they don't agree with me. But anyway, so hey,
the break was talking about the linebackers. They were really
worried about the linebackers. They were saying how they didn't
(35:34):
think we could have a spy, you know, when we
have a mobile quarterback. Isn't James pretty fast? Couldn't he
cover something like that?
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Samar James? Yeah, yeah he is. But I mean, but
then you're giving something I mean he's not good enough
in other areas too. That's why he wasn't active, you know.
I mean if they thought he had he could do everything,
then yeah, that put him out there. Same with Jaydon Blue,
you know. I mean that's that's the reason why these
guys aren't active. They're they're not as good as all
(36:01):
of the things that are asking them to do. So, yeah,
just go out there and be a spy. You would think,
you know, he could necessarily do that, but I think
the Eagles want that. I mean they would love that. Yeah,
have a linebacker there just to spy me cool, Dallas Guarter,
God is gonna run right past him ten times and
they're gonna throw it to him or Barkley over here.
(36:21):
So it's more than that. It's more than just being
a spy. And you can't have a spy every time.
It's got to be different. Guys. Sometimes you're spying, sometimes
you're not. So it's a chess match and the you know,
the Eagles won it for sure in the first half.
Cowboys battled back in the second. It just wasn't enough.
Speaker 10 (36:39):
True.
Speaker 18 (36:39):
Hey, I just want you to know my wife has
became an avid listener in the afternoon. She turns it
on just for you, so anyway she'll laugh at you know, Teresa,
or we call her TLC.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
That's tersa okay, ALC, all right, what's up anyway? All right,
have a good day you too.
Speaker 6 (37:01):
All right.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
I couldn't think of a song for TLC. I don't know,
like waterfall or some creep. Anyways, let's go Savannah, Georgia Sebastians. Next.
Speaker 19 (37:15):
Good morning, mister eat Manheim doing well?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
How do you do?
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Okay, let's go. Let's keep a girl and I love it.
I love it.
Speaker 19 (37:20):
Yeah, Yeah. I am gonna give my season prediction right now.
We're gonna have a six thousand yard team that's gonna
throw for four thirty eight yards, forty touchdowns and eleven interceptions,
only eight of which will be his thoughts. He's gonna
run for six of those touchdowns. Wow, outside of the
six yard line. We're gonna go on him. And what
I believe is that he and Schottenheimer are a match
(37:42):
made in heaven, and I think that they're gonna have
a very great season. He's gonna go on to win
the MVP this year. He's gonna miss out on Schottenheimer
getting the Coach of the Year because they'll never give
us both awards. And we're going to face off against
Minnesota and Molly wap them in the first round. We're
gonna go ahead and beat whoever's in the second round,
and then we're gonna face off for the third round
of the playoffs against the Eagles, and whoever wins that
(38:03):
game will go on to face whoever wins the Buffalo
Bills and Ravens game. With that being said, you have
a great day.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Okay, all right? Four thousand yards passing. I like it.
I was trying to think, like, man, what's what's the record?
Almost five thousand. It's the record for Cowboys, very specific.
I like it. The one that got six rushing touchdowns.
(38:31):
That for dat. I hear that right, six Lamar Jackson.
If he if he does that six and one one season,
that's pretty good. I mean maybe some of that's front
down on the one, but I like it. I like
the optimism. You know, he's gonna have to you know,
they they're gonna have to keep him healthy, keep him healthy,
(38:51):
and get it get it blocked up front. But I
think you know what we saw in that first half
of the Eagles game, and obviously second half is different.
But I think the some of the stuff that you
saw gives me some some you know, some hope that
this could be a really really fun offense to watch with,
you know, one of those video game types where a
lot of people are making plays. All right, we'll take
(39:13):
another break real quick on storyline. Be right back after this.
All right, Cowboys fans, this one's for you.
Speaker 20 (39:21):
Jill Let's Best Shave has a new look this season,
and they've got one that sticked out in Cowboys colors

Speaker 1 (39:27):

Speaker 2 (40:21):
It's the Cowboys storyline.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
It all right back here on Cowboys storyline. Remember this
segments presented by YETI Officially licensed. YETI Cowboys gear is
available at Stadium pro shops, concession and on Yetti dot com.
All right, I just looked it up. In the break
on Dak's rushing touchdowns, he did have six the first
three years of his career, six six, six, eighteen total.
(40:44):
His first three years he had six right on the dot,
and then the next six years he's he's had a
total of eleven. So it's gone down a lot three, three, one,
one two in last year one. So getting back to
six means turning back the clock for him when he was,
you know, twenty twenty four, twenty five, twenty six years old.
(41:07):
Usually doesn't happen, but who knows. Maybe. All right, let's
go to Rosa Is in Virginia. Rosa's next what's up?
Speaker 6 (41:14):
Hey? How you doing?
Speaker 14 (41:15):
Nick?
Speaker 6 (41:15):
Good?
Speaker 11 (41:15):
How are you good?
Speaker 6 (41:17):
Good? Good?
Speaker 21 (41:17):
I'm gonna keep it a little short today. I want
to call back in during MICA a week and really
talk about that trade then, but today I just want
to get my prediction and say we beat the Giants.
I think twenty eight seventeen or maybe thirty points thirty
two seventeen actually, And then my question is, what are
the chances do you think we signed to Davi Economy?
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Thank you, thanks, I think there is it's a good chance.
Thanks for call Rosa. You know, at this point, you know,
being here, like, I can't think that that this is
the first time anyone's called his agent this whole offseason.
I mean, he there's a reason for it that he's
probably looking now. There's probably a reason that that he
(42:01):
waited so long, wanted to join the right team, wanted
to see what's up to I think at this point,
I told someone earlier, I think maybe seventy five percent.
You know, it's not a done deal. Just because just
because you're here doesn't mean that you necessarily sign. This
could be the start of three or four teams. You know,
we saw this with was it Shack Leonard. You know,
(42:22):
he was gonna sign here and then he signed with
the Eagles and that was a big deal and I
don't think he ever heard of him again. I mean,
he played against the cow as it was, it was
a non factor. So hopefully it's not something like that.
But I don't know this. I mean, this could be
a situation that he's he's gonna gonna visit a couple
of teams and this is the start of it. But
(42:44):
I just have a sense that that this is going
to be a good spot for him, you know what,
what whatever he's looking for. I mean, I think that
he has a chance to come here and contribute and
they would need him, and so I think this would
be a a good spot for him. So I would
say probably about thirty five percent chance that that happens.
(43:06):
That's just all I'm again. I'm only known about Todayvin
Clowney visiting here for the last maybe hour and a half,
so two hours, so it's kind of new. I haven't
talked to a lot of people, but that would just
be my guess. All right, Next caller, Jay is in Laredo, Texas.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
Hey, nig windows Die cowboysation, how you doing. Just wanted
to see your insights. The recluse is not known as
somebody who brings pressure. He rushes too drops seven. But
before the weather delay, he didn't do anything. After the
weather delay, then all of a sudden he started bringing pressure.
Even diggs on one. You know, as far as what
made him change his mind, well, it's just, hey, we're
(43:44):
getting gassed. We need to go ahead and get your
hurts or what's thought about that that decision, if you
know anything. And also about Clowney. Look, this is where
we're going to find out. Jerry says the trade breed
them money to sign on the players after Clowney four million,
one point five minutes scent it. Let's see if now
Cherry lives up to what he is saying. Thanks you
(44:05):
very much, all go ahead and hang up and listen, Cowboys,
it's gonna be a double digit win against the uh
Little Blue. It's gonna be a double digit win. We're
gonna give back on track. So I have a great one, Conboysnation,
thanks a lot, and if you have a great one, right.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
All right, thanks for the call. That sounded like that
sounded like one of those radio promo hits where you're
just like all right, let's go to Jay out in
the field. Jay, what do you got for us? And
he just like does this quick, like sixty second hit
and then throws it back out like here we go.
He didn't. We didn't have time for any of that. Nice.
(44:41):
I'm sorry. I was just like, what's just happened here?
Speaker 5 (44:44):
Jay?
Speaker 1 (44:44):
I thought we were gonna chat for a second. I
like it, though, I'm not not complaining, all right, he's
talking about I guess eber flu is changing things up
in the second half. They didn't have any pressure. They
couldn't stop the Eagles. Eagles score a touchdown every single
time they got the ball in the first half, scored
at the field goal the first time they got the
ball in the second half, So he had to mix
(45:06):
it up. I mean, we're just going to keep doing this,
so figure it out because these guys are not getting
home and when they are, they're not making the tackle.
So you know, give him something he hasn't seen yet
and that hurts. And that's what what I think happened,
and it started to work. I mean, that's not ideal.
It's not ideal. That's not what you want. You don't
want them to continue to have to bring that kind
(45:29):
of pressure from the corners off the edge. But that's
that's what happened, all right. And then the other part
was clowney. And you know, it could be it could
be that it could be an incentive type deal, and
I could see that that definitely happening. And he seems
like the type of guy that that would get it.
He gets he gets sacks, all right, Derek, and Springfield,
Missouri is our last call. Derek.
Speaker 22 (45:49):
Hey, Nick, how are you good?
Speaker 1 (45:51):
How are you?
Speaker 6 (45:52):
Oh?
Speaker 22 (45:52):
I'm doing okay.
Speaker 10 (45:53):
Man.
Speaker 22 (45:55):
Hey, I've been slacking this week. I haven't heard any
of the shows. I'm getting ready to sack get on
those starting on Monday. But I just wanted to have
one question in a couple of comments real quick. So
my question for you is, how do you think Tyler
Goyden and the offensive line played against Philly? And my
comments are, even though we lost, you know, I felt
(46:18):
really good if you can feel good about losing. I
took a lot of positives from that game, and uh
Man Dak looked like MVP Dak a couple of years ago.
So clean up some things. I think we're going to
be a good football team. But yeah, I just wanted
to hear your thoughts mainly on guiton the offensive line
(46:39):
as a whole.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
So okay, all right, thank thank you for the call. Yeah,
I thought I thought Gydon was was a little bit
of everything. I thought he was good. I thought there
was some time it wasn't so good. Thought he looked
mean in a good way, played with aggression. It's got
a clean up some things. He knows that. I actually
(47:01):
talked to him in the locker room on Monday and
he said it wasn't it wasn't good enough. It was
good to get out there again. Remember he had missed
most of the training camp with an injury, so he
had just gotten back into practice, into the flow. But
I saw a difference in terms of kind of being
a dog, you know, and that was something seeing in
(47:22):
his eyes a little bit. He'll figure some of that
stuff out. But I think he's He's had all off
season with a chip on his shoulder. He's heard a
lot of stuff about him maybe having a bad rookie year,
that B word starts coming out, or is he going
to be a bust? All that stuff, and I think
he's been motivated. I think he wants to be a
(47:43):
great player, and he's going to be sitting right next
to Tyler Smith, who he didn't have. He had a
much better rookie year, but it wasn't outstanding, it was
it was good, and then he kept getting better and
better down you know, he's an all pro and he's
going to be paid like one. So I think that Guidon.
I'm not saying he's gonna be on that same track,
but I thought it was a good start. Not the
(48:04):
easiest matchup, but hey, it gets it's gonna get just
as tough this week for him, maybe not for the team,
but for him because whoever they line up next today
are all across from him, is gonna be a really
good player. So that offensive line's got his work cutof
for him. Let's see if he keeps stacking together some
some really good moments. So all right, guys, have been
