Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
He is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
This is Cowboys Storyline presented by Gillette, the official shave
of the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Here's Nick Eatman, go next.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Hello and welcome to Cowboys Storyline presented by Gellette. I'm
Nick Eatman. It is Wednesday, October twenty second. Try to
get everything situated here. Got a good show for you today.
No Darren Woodson, but we will have a good time regardless.
We'll hear from you guys. Eight eight eight eight five
five two two nine seven is the number to call Cowboys.

(00:54):
Broncos haven't won there and what thirty three years. It's
been a while since we've seen the Cowboys get to
win at all against Denver thirty years. Had a surprising
loss last time. I remember the last time they played
in twenty twenty one. That kind of came out of nowhere.
That was the game at home where Vic Fangeo was

(01:14):
the defensive coordinator and Cowboys were rolling and they just
kind of ran into a bus saw there in Denver.
But yeah, just we've been one thing or another. Denver's
always had the Cowboys number haven't been able to kind
of get over that hump. But I'll say this, when
they do, when they do beat Denver, it leads to
good things. The last four wins against Denver had all

(01:38):
been Super Bowl winning seasons. So you know, let's see
what happens if you can get a win here this week.
All right, let's get to the phone lines. Let's start
us off. Robbie, Cocoa Beach, Florida. Robbie, what's up?

Speaker 4 (01:52):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (01:53):
Nick?

Speaker 6 (01:53):
How's your day going good?

Speaker 1 (01:54):
How are you?

Speaker 6 (01:56):
I am awesome?

Speaker 7 (01:57):
Man, Hey, I'm I'll try to keep it quick, but
I got a couple of questions for you. I know
it's hard to talk with what he there? I Man,
I sure hope things work out with Trayvon. Man, he
just seems like such a good young kid, and he's
got a young kid, and I really hope things work out.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
But man, it's starting to seem like.

Speaker 7 (02:14):
The writing is getting on the wall.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:17):
Whatever you can talk about with that, you can. But
just it's kind of sad, you know, because I guess
that you seemed like a good kid, but obviously I
don't see behind the scenes.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Obviously, so well I don't either honestly. I mean, we
don't either, and uh, I don't know what all is
going on. And what I like about him is is,
you know, he's You're right, he is.

Speaker 8 (02:39):
He is.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
He's soft spoken, he's quiet, he's kind of you know,
he's he's just his own, his own guy. You know,
he's kind of a different, different cat. But I've always
liked him. And I'm a little biased because we went
to Maryland, did a whole documentary with him and his family,
his mom and sister. So I saw that.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
I like him.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I like Trayvon and uh and personally. And I said
this before. I might have said this on this show.
I might have been on the radio show. I don't remember,
but this guy grew up chasing his brother around, who's
an all pro receiver, you know, Stefan dis He knows
how to cover guys. Just let him cover, Just let
him go one on one and cover. I think Trayvon

(03:22):
is in his zone when he's not in his zone,
if you know what I mean. And I don't know,
I just don't think they're letting him do what he does.
That's that's my thing. All right.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
Well, next, let's hope that Javonte Williams has a homecoming and.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
Whoops there at.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yeah, well you did coming.

Speaker 7 (03:43):
Man, all right, beat out.

Speaker 9 (03:46):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Let me let me know what you think about.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Wow, all right, I appreciate it. Thanks for the call.
Good start, Dravante. You know he's he was not happy
with how things went, and uh, Carolina, they really got
after them up front. And I think you saw the
difference there. I mean, I like TJ. Bass. I thought
Bass has done a nice job, but Booker gives them more,

(04:11):
gives them more strength, and they ran the ball better.
And and you know the offensive line is blocking well
for him. But this isn't just these wide open holes.
I mean, the biggest play of the game in my opinion.
We talked about it the other day, of the run
right before halftime. You know that that should have been

(04:32):
a seven eight yard run. It's a good run. I
mean it's good. It was a good hold and all that.
But he did that he broke off, you know, broke
some tackles and then stiff arm and kind of carried
the guy down for another fifteen yards. I mean that
that was all him, second, third, fourth effort. That's that's
what the Cowboys liked when they saw Javonte and and

(04:52):
again this is Javonte Williams is just another example. And
you guys, we all will forget it when we get
to the draft, when we get to free agency, when
you look at these guys and you're like, oh, great,
you know, oh the Cowboys signed Javonte Williams. Oh super Bowl,
Hey boy, what a great pickup. You know, how about

(05:14):
this guy or this guy? Well, you got to remember
they have a vision for the player. Clayton Adams was like,
I know what kind of offense I want to run.
I know what kind of line we have, and with
play action and the receivers we have, we need a
guy like this. Yeah, it didn't work so well in Denver.
We know he got hurt as well. But if you
give me him, I think we can do something. And

(05:37):
so you got to remember that coaches, scouts, teams have
different vision for players more than maybe what we can
see or what they have done in the past. I
think Javonte is a great example of that. All right,
casey Joe, he's in Kansas City's how.

Speaker 10 (05:51):
You doing today, sir?

Speaker 6 (05:52):
Good?

Speaker 9 (05:53):
Are you hey?

Speaker 11 (05:54):
I'm good, I'm good.

Speaker 9 (05:55):
Hey.

Speaker 11 (05:55):
Your mom she has a really young voice, so I'm like,
my goodness.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Well, she has a she has a young soul, and
she uh, she's I tell you, she's she's funny now.
She I mean, she's a she's a cowboy fan, she's
an Arkansas fan, and and she she's like she's just
like me, like she's passionate, and she she'll she'll send
me some text, you know, like you know, why do
we go for two here? You know what I mean,

(06:21):
she's she's in it now.

Speaker 9 (06:22):
She's good.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah. And then there then there's times when I'm like, oh, man,
can you believe that she's like I stopped watching. I'm
cleaning the house. I don't even know. I don't want
to hear about it. I don't know. So and I'm
and I've been there too.

Speaker 11 (06:33):
So I I do I do?

Speaker 6 (06:36):
Hey? Uh?

Speaker 11 (06:37):
You think Clowney finally maybe knocked the rust off. You know,
he hadn't practiced, she didn't go through training camp. That
looked like he was a lot better this last game.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
It did.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It did look that way. And you know, he looks
a lot better. And most players look better when they
don't block you. Uh, And so that that happened a
couple of times. They didn't just block him. But there
were some other times where you can see I think
that's the right way to say it. I do think
Russ is getting knocked off for him. And you know what,
yes he said he could go in and play immediately,

(07:07):
but everybody needs, you know, two or three games. And
hopefully that that is the case, because I remember I
remember seeing von Miller on the sideline and I was like,
I kind of forgot he was with Washington, you know,
And and I was like, all right, you know, he's
a veteran guy still doing some things. I like, that's
what they need out of Clowny to kind of be

(07:27):
like that. And Clownie ends up having his best game
with the with the Cowboys.

Speaker 12 (07:31):
That's true.

Speaker 11 (07:32):
Hey, And and I guarantee Jaden Daniels is not gonna
forget James anytime soon. He'll be thinking about his leg
and he'll think about James every for the next couple
of weeks.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah. Yeah, I think I think Schamar James is is
is what they need for this for this defense. He
you know, he's gonna miss some you know, and he's
he's he's gonna go one hundred miles an hour. And
sometimes when that happens, they'll run right by you. He
will do that, and it's it's all already happened at times.
And he will give up some big plays. But when

(08:04):
when he hits you know, I mean, it'll it'll it'll
be like it happened with Jayden and Daniels, you know
what I mean. He's going to continue to see it
and be there and react. And I don't think he's
going to slow down. I think he's only going to
get better. So he's a fun player to watch. And
now that turns out to be a pretty good draft pick.

Speaker 13 (08:22):
I think I think so too.

Speaker 14 (08:24):
Well, you have a great day.

Speaker 11 (08:25):
I'll let others in. We'll talk to you later.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
All right, thanks for the call. Let's go from Kansas
City to Knoxville, Tennessee. Gabe is there, Gabe? How you doing?

Speaker 6 (08:36):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
I'm good, Nick.

Speaker 9 (08:37):
How are you doing great?

Speaker 1 (08:39):
What you got great?

Speaker 10 (08:40):
I got a question for you. I'll I'll answer the
question myself. I'll take your answer off the air. So,
who's the best player on the offense this season? The
best player best player? And my candidates are, of course
Dak Prescott, Jay Williams, George Pickens, Cede Lamb would probably

(09:04):
be up there if he hadn't missed his games, maybe
Jake Ferguson. And then I'm gonna put the offensive line
as a unit, and my answer is the offensive line.
I mean, I would almost say it's a three way tie.
I feel like between Dak, offensive line, Jay Williams. But
I just think the offensive line is they're moving people,

(09:27):
especially in the running game. They're protecting Dak. Yeah, I mean,
I think Dak's been doing this for years. How he's playing,
He's just been considerably better this year because of how
the offensive line is playing. So so yeah, I got
the offensive line being the MVP of the offense so
far this year in my opinion. But yeah, let me

(09:48):
know what you think, Brian.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Thanks for the call. I love opinions because everyone's got theirs.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
I don't agree with that, i'd I don't. I mean,
and I know it's easy to say, well, he starts
with the quarterback, but I think it has been the
quarterback because the offensive line has been in and out.
I mean it's been and give them credit because and
they're coaching staff credit and all that, because it's been
the four or five different combinations. But Dak, to me

(10:23):
is playing at a at the highest level that that
we've seen. You know, they he's still played well. I
think in Carolina when the offensive line didn't offensive line
kind of got got beat up in that game. I
still think he did a nice job with with with Pickings.
You know, he's he's seeing it. He's the play action
has been good. He's checking down. Another thing too, is

(10:45):
you know they're scoring at the end of the half
a lot they're they're doing a good job with that.
A lot of that is him, you know that, and
running running the offense. So to me, I think it's Dak.
I think he's he's been just you know, out of
this world. It's a great question though, you know, because
Pickens is right up there. Ferguson I think is a
product of what Dak is doing. And you know, Javonte

(11:06):
is like I said before, he's running really well. And
a lot of it's not just the open holes. So
it's it's just a kind of a perfect storm right now.
Everybody gets credited, and that's the thing, like they don't
give out awards like this, you know what I mean
for that reason, because it is a team, it's eleven guys.
Dak doing his job helps that offensive line? Offensive line?

(11:26):
Does that? I mean you can do the same thing
for the nineties Cowboys. You know, you can do the
same thing. You could say, oh it was in it,
it was Troy what it was that offensive line? What
about Irvin? Yeah, well the answer is yes, Yes, that's
the answer. All right, Ali and Florida morning her.

Speaker 14 (11:44):
Are you pretty good?

Speaker 15 (11:46):
Apologize for hanging up last time?

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I Chris, I don't remember this morning much less that
I don't even know. I don't remember that.

Speaker 15 (11:57):
Yeah, because what happens I ask you about Randy White?
Uh the linebacker turned into defensive line.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
And I didn't wait for your answer.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
I hang up.

Speaker 15 (12:07):
But you answer it correctly. Randy White was a correct way.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah answer, Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 6 (12:12):
YEA, so apologized.

Speaker 15 (12:14):
Just didn't want to disrespect Chrystal. You just hang out
and you know.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Just the time you go back and got in again.

Speaker 16 (12:21):
Yes, I told him to let you know because you
know the way I consider you as a goat.

Speaker 15 (12:28):
It's just like encyclopedia.

Speaker 16 (12:30):
And you know, I know for sure tomorrow sun Bill
Rice and I don't have to stay up to see
it because I know it's gonna come.

Speaker 15 (12:39):
So when I asked you the question.

Speaker 16 (12:42):
I know in my heart you're going to get it right,
so I don't have to hang out and caught up.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
The time for everybody else.

Speaker 16 (12:49):
So having said that, it was so nice to see
with you yesterday, and.

Speaker 15 (12:55):
I know today is the league meeting and normally Jones
family they usually do a lot of working behind the scene.

Speaker 16 (13:05):
So my question to you is this, between Mozzie and
dig and Tolbert, if they want to move one, what
would I don't know you can answer no, who they
prefer to move to. Maybe pick up an extra pick,
or maybe get that player, or hang up and listen.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
I love your brother, thank you, thank you for the call. Mozzie, Tolbert,
it's the other one. You know, these guys, I mean,
I don't know what kind of value that those guys bring.
I mean, cowboys could could use something, you know, and

(13:50):
O Tolbert. I understand why Tolbert's not playing as much.
Tolbert might give you a little bit more for somebody
who's been around, but you're not going to get a
lot for him because he's you know, he's gonna be
a free agent at the end of the season, so
you're not going to get a ton for anybody really,
and you know the Mazi situation. I just I don't know.
I don't he's not playing right now. They could use that.

(14:13):
They're not They're they're one of the worst teams in
the league against the run, so you would you would
use all the defensive tackles and and run stoppers that
you could get. So if he's not out there, then
you know, teams know that too. I just don't know
what which you might get for for anybody at this point.
Uh So you know, yeah, it could be late round

(14:34):
picks things like that, if if they wanted to to
move that I could see that maybe happening for a
wide receiver. All right, let's go to UH Jr. And
Avondale Arizona Jr.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
What's up, mornings? Everything in Dallas?

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Good?

Speaker 3 (14:49):
How are you good?

Speaker 6 (14:51):
I'd streak into yesterday. I tried to get in, but
I couldn't get in.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
But what you did have? The number you had the batphone.

Speaker 6 (14:58):
Number now apparently two hundred and fifty five tries and
couldn't make it. But someone really close to me works
at Marridell High That's where Woody went to school here
in high school. And he's still definitely a legend here
and I shout out, but next time maybe Hey, I
just visioned that Jonathan Mingo is just George Pickens, who

(15:21):
we haven't seen how good he is because he hasn't
been on a good team. So what if he's just
as good as Pickings? So now we got three of them.
So that's kind of my vision. I think he's going
to be better than people think. I'm a big sec guy.
Watched him play a lot when he was at Old Myths. Yeah,
I root for the team Villians with an A, but

(15:42):
it's not the racer, but acis hold that against me Anyway.
I had a trivia I'm not a big trivia person
like Gary in the Mexico or anything, but I have
a trivia question for you about the fifty year anniversary
of the Ail. Mary, what happened just before? What awesome
play that's forgotten? Happened just before the Hill? Mary?

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that you're right about that, not only
what happened with the play, but what happened after the play.
So I think you're referring to it. It was I
believe it was fourth down past to Pierson at midfield
and he caught it on the sidelines and well right.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Fourth it was fourth and seventeen. Yes, Fitzgerald had darted
a snap to Roger and he fell down anyway he
can got out of bounds, but they used the force
out rule and said it was a catch. Then the
next play was an incomplete pass, and then there was

(16:43):
the hill Mary.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
And also if you've seen that play, the catch you're
talking about Pierson on the sideline. I don't know, is
it a cop a policeman, security guard comes over and kicks.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Him, Yeah, kissing to bring that up.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
He just kicks them. Yeah, that that's cool, like that,
that's okay, I guess, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (17:07):
When he catches the hail Mary, an orange comes flying by,
almost hit with an orange stands And then of course
afterwards the field judge get hit in the head with
the bottle yea, and they changed it, actually they changed
the right after I think that year. The following year
they stopped letting people bring things into the game. But

(17:30):
what was what what did the this is win? What
did the official get hit with?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
It was the half full bottle of Cory whiskey.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Okay, all right, thanks thanks for the call. J R'll
start a new streak. There you go, you have a
great day. Thank you. You know at our office here
at the start. I mean, if you ever have a
chance to do a tour, one of the one of
the highlights I think of it. And for us, you know,
it's right by my office where we go downstairs five

(18:04):
or ten times a day, and I passed by it
and don't even really look at it as much. But
there's about I don't know, twenty now maybe not fifteen
photos of that play from like the third floor down
to the bottom floor. And so if you there's a
photo of there's strawback and he's got taking the snap
and he's throwing it and as you walk down or

(18:26):
up that you can see it's a pretty awesome tribute
to the Hail Mary play. And part of the tour
that I hear a lot is I hear that part
of the tour and how they explain it and why
there was an orange and you know, the Super Bowl
was going to be played at the Orange Bowl, and
the Minnesota fans were you know, had oranges because they
thought they were going to the Orange Bowl and all
that stuff. That's why when they got mad they threw

(18:48):
it a lot of little history nuggets about that play,
and it's cool and I'm sure we'll revisit that as
we get closer to December and the fiftieth anniversary of it.
All right, let's go go to Cowboy Nico. He's in
Colorado Springs up.

Speaker 17 (19:04):
Hey, what's up? Nick?

Speaker 14 (19:06):
I today good, not bad.

Speaker 17 (19:09):
So this game here is a fun game for me
and my family. My old lady and my son are
Denver Bronco fans. My in law is are Bronco fans.
So I stand alone proudly rocking the Star. But every
time I rock the Star in Broncoville, I get disappointed.
So one of your callers just a little while ago
was talking about the offensive line, and that's kind of

(19:30):
what I wanted to touch base on today. Real quick, guys,
if you pay attention to the film, if you're like
me who break down game films after because you think
you're cool and you think you know football, I don't know.
I just watch football just to watch football. But I'm
telling you, as a person that has to watch every
Denver Bronco game because of my family, this defensive line

(19:54):
is going to give our offensive line major headaches. And
what I I really want to know, Nick, is what
do you think about starting out fast? Let's drop out
a quick deep ball, let them know, hey, back off
a bit, and then start screening. And by screening, I'm
not talking just Cavante. Let's get blue out there. And
that's what I really wanted to talk about. See your

(20:16):
thoughts on that. Let's get routy. Let's go cowboys. Hey,
wait hey, and Sergeant Suit is correct on something. He
does this all the time and I think it's really
cool and it needs to be mentioned. Our YouTube comment
section are amazing, you guys in the comment sections. You're
part of the family too.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
I just wanted to.

Speaker 17 (20:35):
Give a shout out to the you comic sections. Let's
go boys.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Awesome, all right, thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, we
don't mention that as much as as we should. Love
that though. Need to get those YouTube numbers up man
for sure, so hopefully the comments will kind of help
with that, you know, I hear you. I mean that
defense is it seems like it's been pretty good. I mean,

(21:01):
what I want to know is how the giants roll
that many points up there on them? You know, I
believe you. I mean, they're gonna It's just like the
Carolina game. You know, that defensive line gave the Cowboys
offense fits. They still scored twenty seven on the road
and had a chance to score more. Got down in
the red zone. That's gonna be the key. Red zone.
Get it down in there, because I think this offense

(21:22):
is gonna move it. The Cowboys did a nice job,
but getting down in the red zone and then scoring
in there, and that's that's the difference. I think that's
the difference they do that. Those two times that they
set are for field goals against Carolina, and I think
they beat the Panthers. So that's gonna be the key.
A lot of times when the team has a really
good defensive line, that's where you see it the most,
is that, yeah, they'll bend a little bit, they'll give

(21:44):
up a big play here and there, but it's first
in goal at that eight nine yard line. What happens then,
so that that'll be that'll be the key. Screens are great.
I love it. You got to remember, though you're gonna
put Jaden Blue out there for a screen, there's gonna
be two or three four plays where he has to
be in there and block and I think he's been okay,
I mean he he hasn't been a liability there. But
that's that's the key. You're not gonna screen every time.

(22:06):
There's gonna be times we have to stay in there
and block. There's gonna be times where you do it
two or three times and then you let them go
and go over their head and then you have a
chance to do something. So it's always a cat and
mouse game when you're talking about D line O line
and figuring out who's doing what. But you have to
have an aggressive defense and you're gonna have to take
advantage of that. When they are aggressive, it's gonna break
real quick on Cowboys storyline and be right back.

Speaker 9 (24:39):
Hey, how you doing, Nick good?

Speaker 14 (24:41):
How are you not too bad?

Speaker 19 (24:43):
Boss?

Speaker 20 (24:43):
I just had a question about the whole Max Crosby News.
Have you heard anything with your sources if anything like
that would happen? And do you think that overall? Do
you like a trade that we need to make? And
I think personally he would like boost the morale of
the team. I think it would make everybody else on

(25:05):
that defensive line better. It'd make our cornerbacks play better,
having a pass rush back into the lineup. And everybody
always keep saying, right now, is well, why didn't we
just keep Micah? But if we're able to get Kenny
Clark out of it a first round pick and more
cap space, then I think that's kind of a good
move in the long run. Just wanted your thoughts about that.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Okay, thanks for the call. You know, we have we
don't talk a lot about players on other teams. It's
really it's against the rules here. We work for a
Cowboy I mean, we work for the Cowboys, work for
an NFL team, you don't talk about players on other teams. Obviously,
the rumor has been out there about trades and then

(25:45):
his name keeps coming up. I do know that that
I've you know, we've seen reports that I guess the
Raiders have said that they're not trading him, and they've
talked to him about not trading him. And so if
that's the case, then you know, probably that's not not
gonna happen. And if it, if it does, if that changes,

(26:05):
then that means it's probably going to be you know,
they're asking for for a lot. So I again, the
question that I can answer that that you asked, was
is it a move that they need to make a
move like that? Yeah, yeah, they do need to make
a move like that if they want to, you know,
if they want to be a team that's gonna win

(26:27):
and lose and win and lose and maybe maybe have
a shot to be there in the hunt all the time.
Your name, your logo will be there every time they
show the playoff picture, and maybe if you win two
or three four games down the stretch, you can get in.
They could be that team right now. If they want
to be a team that is going to compete with
everybody and and get some of these big wins, their

(26:51):
defense needs to be better. They need to get off
the field. They need to figure out how to how
to make more plays on defense. And I think they're
going to need some help doing that. And so if
they want to take it to another level and maybe,
you know, maybe be a team that that that everybody's
kind of worried about, especially on defense, then I think

(27:11):
they're gonna have to go get a player and that
that's not going to be cheap, just like it wasn't
to get Micah Parsons. So we'll see. I mean, I
I I would if the right situation, I would be
looking for the right situation. That's that's the way I
think I'll say it. I would be looking for the
right situation. Uh, Lester in Minnesota is next, Hey Lester.

Speaker 9 (27:37):
Hey, I want to give flowers to coach coach Shottenheimer
because I heard that he went into the defensive room
and and and I don't know what he did, but
he said whatever, and they got together and all of
a sudden, the defense was a little bit different. You know,

(27:58):
a set of eighty or ninety percent zone. We played
about forty eight percent man and fifty two percent zone.
So I want to give my kudos to him. I mean,
that's coaching right there, even though I know that's just
not his fill, but he does have the number one offense,
number two offense, number three offense, whatever it is, so

(28:20):
that means a man knows football. So I also wanted
to mention that, Wow, I really did love the defense
playing that. And I had a question for you Nick
as far as BB and now is he going to
play this week or is he gonna play next week?
Or what's his status? Okay, and that's all I have today.

(28:44):
Like I said, Uh, Dak run the ball, DAC play
action pass, go to the ball, Dak go Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
All right, thanks for the call. Let's start with the
shoddy part. You know, he he's the head coach. He's
the head coach of the team, so he's got to
make sure his football team on both sides of the
ball is up to speed. And you know, obviously he's
he calls the plays and he's offensive coordinator. I'm starting

(29:14):
an offense coordinator. He calls the plays, and you know,
offense is his side of the ball. But he's the
head coach. So if he you know, he knows what
has to happen on defense as well. And so yeah,
I mean I credit him for I mean, it's got
to be him to go and say, we got to
make changes. Let's figure this out. Let's talk to the
defensive coordinator, Let's talk to the coaches and the players

(29:34):
and see what we can do to make make this better.
And uh, you know, it's been one game. Let's see,
let's see what what happens if it continues to be
a trim. As for Bebe, I believe today he hit
the window. The twenty one day window will be open
today with Bebe overshown in Revel those three guys. Twenty

(29:55):
one day windows starts today. Bbe would be the one
guy that I could see if he's ready playing sooner.
I don't. I don't think he will though. They got
a game against Denver, then they got the Monday night
game against Arizona, and then there's a bye week. I
would imagine that a lot of these guys are coming

(30:17):
back for the Raiders game after that Monday night game.
After that, especially Revel and Overshown. Those guys need to practice.
They haven't practiced all off season. And Revel hasn't played
football in more than a year, so he has to
practice in more than a year. So yeah, he certainly
needs to be acclimated back to football again. Bbe. You know,

(30:38):
his training camp played a couple of games, so but still,
I you know, I would imagine that. To answer your question,
I don't think he plays this week. No, I don't
think any of those three will play this week. I'd
be surprised if that does happen. All right, Irene in
Falls Church, Virginia, It's next.

Speaker 21 (30:56):
Hey, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 14 (30:58):
Has it going good?

Speaker 1 (30:59):
How are you good?

Speaker 16 (31:00):
Good?

Speaker 21 (31:01):
Darren was lucky to be in the presence of such
a legend like you man yesterday.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Okay, Hey, yeah, that.

Speaker 21 (31:08):
Was cool man, that was really cool. He was there
for the whole shine and expect that.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
I know, Well, here's a funny I'll give you a
funny exchange on text message. I go, hey, what what
time can you make it tomorrow? And he goes, I'm
available from ten to ten forty five. And I was like, well,
that's that's the whole show. And I'm like, is that
your window or is that how long you're going to
be here? He goes, you tell me, and I'm like,
all right, I'm gonna be greedy. I'm gonna take you

(31:32):
for the whole time. Then yeah, So yeah, it was awesome.
What a great treat for you guys to be able
to ask questions. I know we didn't get as many,
but you know, I tried. I tried to lay out
let him talk as much. But it's as fun he
could be on end time. He wants to.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
Man, he's the best exactly. That was awesome.

Speaker 21 (31:51):
So two things I guess for of course, yesterday was
filled with rumors and all that, so I just want
to get on records signing off on trade. I think
there's maybe not that guy's gonna happen. That's fine, would
have been cool, but I do think there's even better
combinations where you could do more keep Chickens have a

(32:11):
linebacker and a d end. Maybe the dn's a little
older and cheaper, or maybe he's just young and not
as established, but an upgrade. We'll see, there's a combination.
I want two moves, though, but I don't want to
lose Chickens. I absolutely don't want to lose him, and
I don't think you have to. So no anyway for

(32:31):
this game though, coming up. So my original prediction, I
had this as a loss because I think Denver is
really obviously a really scrappy team, but a really good defense,
and then their offense they know how to perform. Not
the greatest in the world, but it has firepower for sure.
I am a little worried about how our offense will

(32:53):
perform against them. I still think we'll score points, but
I'm just worried with our defense. Can we score enough
on them? So yeah, I don't know if that a
little bit. If you have a match up you're worried
about six.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
All right, I appreciate it. Yeah, I mean they're they're
I think I think you said it best. I like that.
I mean they are scrappy, they seem that way, and
also the team seems to be scrappy. I mean, if
you look at the games that they've that they've played,
you know, they they've won a lot of these close games.

(33:26):
One of them that they did not win was a
one or two point loss at the Colts, but the
kicker missed the field goal and they got called for
leveraging and then so that fifteen yards and then the
Colts made the second one and they won the game. So,
I mean, you know, Denver has a you know, they
have a chance to you know, they had a chance

(33:48):
to win even another game. I'm gonna tell you right now,
it's Wednesday. I'm picking the Cowboys to win this game,
and I'm picking them to win by two scorers. I
believe that like thirty five, twenty one to three, something
like that. That's gonna be my pick. I think the
Cowboys will will score on them Denver. Yeah, they are
good defense, but I think the Cowboys offense is gonna

(34:11):
put pressure on them that they haven't seen so far.
And and I just don't believe Denver's gonna win the
game and be six and two. I don't think that
football team is a six and two football team. So
I you know, I think the Cowboys will will go
win it. And usually when you play a game the
way they just played it, we've seen the Cowboys do it.

(34:31):
It's hard to come back the next week and and
carry that emotion again. They should have lost, you know,
you should have lost. You got so fortunate to win.
I don't believe that wins like that carry you. I
think I think that they end up. Usually what comes
up usually comes down. I think Dallas is gonna win

(34:52):
the game. So I'm just gonna throw my pick out
there right now. I'm probably the first pick of the week.
Usually you guys are throwing that in there, But I
just really believe that. I think the Cowboys are are
going to put up some points on them, and that
put pressure on that offense to score and and you
know they they might they might have you know, coming
out Party two. We've seen it. We've seen a lot

(35:14):
of quarterbacks have their best game against the against the Cowboys.
But uh, I'll take I'll take my chances here with
with Dallas going on the road, a lot of Cowboy
fans will be there. I think that though, I think
this is a chance that they can they get over
the hump and win for the first time in what
thirty three years in Denver. Let's go to break real
quick on storyline, be right back.

minutes or so, maybe a little bit more. Got another
caller from La. This is Casey in La.

Speaker 14 (37:14):
Hey, Nick, how's it going good?

Speaker 1 (37:15):
How are you?

Speaker 14 (37:17):
I'm feeling hopeful and optimistic. I agree with what you
said about Denver last week.

Speaker 19 (37:23):
Man.

Speaker 14 (37:23):
They expended a lot of emotion and physicalness to come
back and win that thing. I think they'll be a
little bit depleted right there. You said it's been thirty
three years since the Cowboys one in Denver thirty three,
Tony dor said Javonte Williams Cowboys three and three. Like

(37:44):
that is this thing has been more in second place?

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Yeah, I like it. I like where you think.

Speaker 9 (37:50):
You're the magic number?

Speaker 17 (37:51):
My brother?

Speaker 1 (37:52):
Yes, sir, you know what. In my prediction, I'm gonna
steal this, Casey. I'm stealing this, all right, I do it.
I have something like thirty five, twenty one, thirty fourth, no, no, no,
thirty three, twenty one, thirty three, twenty one. I like
what you're saying, all the threes love it. I'm stealing
that like I'm from Pittsburgh, Like Chris Bean does to

(38:16):
me at Fortnite, I'm doing that. Let's go all right, right,
have you got anything else other than that great magic number?

Speaker 14 (38:25):
You know, it's just a process. We've seen teams come
out the gate looking great and tumble, and we've seen
teams start slow and then pick it up at the end.
This is a maritime This team is continuing to get better,
and it's got an offense that's got people worried about
playing us. He's giving this defense a little bit better.

Speaker 6 (38:43):
Man.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
I'm just I'm stoke.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
Yeah yeah. I think that they have a chance to
continue to kind of build on this defense a little bit,
and I think that they will. You know, we didn't
thanks for the call, Casey, We didn't really talk about
the fact that Shoddy took the ball coming out of
the of the game. You know, they won the toss,
they took the football and they didn't defer, and it
worked and went down there and score touched them. You know,

(39:08):
I personally, I think it's just got to be hit,
hit and miss. I don't think I don't think it's
just one rule all the time. If if I if
I was shoddy and I got the football, if I mean,
if I won the toss in this game, I'm I'm
I'm deferring. You know, you're playing on their on on
the road.

Speaker 13 (39:27):
And.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
You know Jason Garrett had this point one time, and
I he didn't always go by it. But it is
very it's very smart when you think of it this way.
If you go to the it's gonna be what you know,
three o'clock, it'll be a one o'clock kickoff there or
two o'clock, whatever time it is. But afternoon kickoff, it'll
be rowdy. Everyone will be in their seats. It'll be
going you get the ball to start the game, their

(39:52):
fans are going to be raucous. You get the ball
to start the third quarter. Half the fans are not
even back in their seats. No one still remembers that halftimes
only thirteen minutes in the NFL, So the atmosphere before
the game on that first drive versus the atmosphere in
the third quarter is not the same at all. So

(40:14):
for me, on the road. If I win the toss,
I'm deferring. I need to see that defense go out
there and get a stop. Because on the offense, if
you're up by ten, if you're down by ten, if
the game is tied, it doesn't matter. Third quarter, the
offense needs to go score. We know that, so I wouldn't.
I wouldn't do it every single week. I would change
it up, and if I was shotty this week, I
would say I would still defer if I had that opportunity.

(40:37):
All right, Chris and Saratoga Springs, New York.

Speaker 13 (40:41):
Hey, Nick, how's it going good?

Speaker 1 (40:43):
What's up with you?

Speaker 13 (40:43):
I just want to say, fantastic show with the future
Hall of Famer yesterday. Whish he was on more unbelievable
show yesterday, congratulating guys on that.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
Thank you. You know, I just I just rolled the
ball out, let him go. I mean, he's awesome, and
I wish we could do it for two hours, three hours.
It was great.

Speaker 13 (41:03):
Yeah, I got I got a couple of things, a
couple of questions. You said the other day. You know,
that's all we need from our defense in order for
us to be successful. I don't know if I one
hundred agree with that. I think we played better than
we have in the in the past few weeks, but
they missed a bunch of plays that were wide open drops,
quarterback throwing it in the dirt, or you know, behind

(41:24):
the receivers. They were opened a lot of times. So
they missed a lot of plays on that game. So
I do think we need to play better than we
did defensively move moving forward, Well.

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Well, we're right, You're right, they need to play better.
But what I'm saying is is that right there, that's
all they need. That's all they need to do to
play like that. Yes, they could play better than that,
but they did win by twenty two points. So you know,
if Washington cleans it up a little bit and does
does a better job in scores a little bit, that's
still enough to win the game. You know what I mean.
I mean because the cow because they gave you so.

(41:57):
So I'm not saying that it was absolutely perfect. I'm
just saying, play that way. Give me eight stops, give
me four sacks, get two turnovers, and score. That's that's
what I need from you. If that's not enough, then
it's probably on the offense too. You know that but
I'm not saying I'm not saying that it was absolutely

(42:18):
perfect and you know that's the ceiling. I'm not saying that.
So anyways, go ahead, go ahead, Chris.

Speaker 6 (42:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (42:24):
My other question is Carson came back. I didn't see
him on the field and much I saw him on
special teams a lot. Is he not one hundred percent
or do they just you know, not love him enough
to be out there, you know, starting or while other
people are out.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
Yeah, I mean it's that he's not he's one hundred percent.
I mean, he's not gonna play if he's not. But yeah,
I think that he's not. He hadn't played football in
a while either, so you know, and and he was
on starting his rookie year out of necessity anyway, So
you know, with Bland hurt and all that, he's not
one of their their top guys. I'm not sure he

(42:59):
would have played. Dig's been active for the game. So
he just needs to keep working his way back in there,
and and he will. But you know, I think from
the other guys that they have el and Bridges and
and Reddy Stewart and those guys, I think that they
just give him a little bit more obviously and Bland.

(43:20):
So all right.

Speaker 13 (43:21):
I last thing. My two favorite players of all time
are both safeties, obviously Woodie and the other ones Bill Bates.
Do you have any stories on Bill at all?

Speaker 9 (43:32):
Do you like to share?

Speaker 1 (43:32):
Yeah, I'll think it all, okay, all right man, Bill Bates. Well,
I mean I've said this before, guys, and I apologize.
I mean it's hard for me to say, do you
have any stories? I mean, like, yeah, he was a
fan favorite of my dad. And this is a nineteen
eighty three when his rookie year and we lived in Oklahoma,

(43:56):
and I mean it wasn't the Internet and all that stuff,
but I mean, he he he somehow as an undrafted
player that that was playing, I mean, he he. He
was my dad's favorite player. And I remember when we
went to the game against the Rams in the playoffs,
they made a shirt for me that says here comes
the next Bill Bates and which was covered up because

(44:17):
we had like four jackets because it was so cold
that day. It was so cold that the pipes froze
at Texas Stadium. But we also had one of those signs.
Was back when you could put signs out there, and
my dad wrote this big signs on this sheet, you know,
white like bed sheet or something that said Bill Bates
went swimming this morning. You know, just how tough he
was and all that. So it was really cool. I

(44:37):
got to tell him that when I when I met
him and when I covered the team he was. He
moved into coaching, so I got to meet him and
talk to him. A super super great guy. So I
got other Bill Bates stories. He's hilarious, you know some
of the things that he said. But I mean, he
he's a he was a good teacher too, like he
would like teach us certain things. You know, this guy

(44:58):
he did he got cut, like when he I remember
him breaking down why this one player got cut because
he wasn't doing this and this and well, and so
I just always had great conversations with him. I was
kind of full circle too, to be like as a
kid to remember him and then be working and passing
in the hallway with them and stuff like that. Sometimes
you forget that those things, and so you do need

(45:18):
to stop and you know, smell the roses a little bit,
all right, h Irwin in Colorado? Irwin, what's up, hey, Nick?

Speaker 4 (45:27):
How's it going?

Speaker 1 (45:28):
Are you going to the game.

Speaker 4 (45:30):
Well, I knew you were going to ask that, And
here's the deal. There, here's the deal. I've been the
last couple of years, last couple of times the Cowboys
came to Denver to play the Bunk and I was
definitely there. Didn't have the greatest experience. Uh, the Bronco
fans is really turn tabbed. They kind of remind me
of Philadelphia fans, you know, on the lefser level. Of course,

(45:52):
that's why I just can't go there. Because of that.
I just can't stand it. But I do want to
talk about it. Couple of things about the Bronco defense,
and I hope that Shoddy, you know, gets prepared, gets
the team prepared to keep Dak upright because those linebackers
that never has, those three linebackers, they're real active. I mean,

(46:14):
their defense is really good. But I will say this,
there's one player that I think that the Cowways can
definitely attack on the defense. It's that cornerback Moss. I
really think that they can kind of exploit him a
little bit. But and the other thing is Javonte Williams.
I know that Broncos let him go because its primary
because you know, he kept getting hurt, but I really

(46:37):
think hopefully that they come out with a great game plan.
Javonte Williams has a big game against the Broncos. It's
kind of a personal thing with me. I got a
lot of family members that they live here and they're
all Bronco fans, and I've caught hell from some of
my friends and they haven't beat the Broncos in what,
what's like thirty years? Yeah, I mean it's terrible. I

(46:59):
just want Dak Prescott to come out and have the
best game ever and just kind of like destroy these guys.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
Yeah, you know right.

Speaker 4 (47:08):
I just want yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
No, no, go ahead, we got to keep it rolling.
You have anything else? We have one more colored? Yeah too?

Speaker 6 (47:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (47:15):
Yeah, I just want to ask you, Uh, is it
off the table for Crosby? I know you can't mention names.

Speaker 1 (47:22):
Nothing's off the time, nothing's off the table. No, No,
I'm erin. Thanks for the call. I know this is
personal for you. You can tell uh, and I get it.
You want this one in the worst way. Uh, being
there and being I can't imagine being living in another
place where you know you got to cover another team,
and then when that happens and you face them. You

(47:42):
know it's it's a big deal and you want nothing
more than the Cowboys to win. I get it, and
I'm pulling for you, and hopefully you can call on
Monday after they do win. All Right, aiming in Memphis,
his first time caller, aiming, what's up? How you doing good?
How are you? I'm sorry, we got to make it
kind of It's great to hear from you. What do
you got for us? Man? All Right?

Speaker 19 (48:04):
Went to the Cowboys game on the nineteenth. It was
my birthday, best birthday president I could have ever wished for.
I was kind of down after the Rico game, but
they got me back. You say it so many times, Nick,
you say you're out of it, you say you don't
care anymore, but then they pull you back.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
In this last thing I got yeah, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 13 (48:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (48:23):
I had almost giving up on Dak and I'm down
here in Memphis, Tennessee. So I was exposed to Dak
a lot. Never seen him fail in any situation. Always
been a stand up guy. But just when I thought,
hey he's okay, he's pretty good. Maybe it doesn't translate.
This is the first time I get to hear everybody
give Dak Presk got the credit that he deserves, so
I just wanted to give him some of his flowers too.

(48:45):
He's making it look like we spent the sixty million
or whatnot on the right guy. So with that being said,
I'll literally talk about it Offairprecax. You guys go Cowboys Nations, all.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
Right, appreciate that aiming I love in and out. First
time caller, love that, and make sure and call us
back glad that you're part of our storyline community here.
You're right, I mean Dak, you know, and he might
have a game that they might lose. He could have
played better. I mean, that's that happens. That's the nature

(49:15):
of the quarterback business. I'm sure Kansas City fans get
frustrated every now and again with Mahomes. I mean not often,
but I'm just saying it happens. But you're right, Dak
is playing at a consistent level right now that we
just haven't seen in a while. He's got the weapons.
He's making the tight end look look great. He's making
these wide receivers they are great. They're making him look good.

(49:36):
The running game, it's all clicking right now. Now. The
defense has to to you know, pick things up as well.
But Dak is just playing at the highest level. That's
why when the question was asked about who's the MVP
of the offense, I can't look further than that. He's
been the guy. He's the consistent guy. Seed, He's been
in and out of the offense. The lineup, the offensive
line has changed, but I know this, I don't want

(49:57):
to see that. I don't want to see the backup
come in at all. I mean, they've been able to
manage with other positions at backup. I don't think anybody
wants to see it right now at the quarterback position
because Doc is just playing so great. All right, awesome show, guys.
We'll do it again tomorrow for Chris Bean. I'm Nick
keat Mianty Tomorrow. Storyline.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
