Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Tarik K and you are now listening to
Dolphin UK podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
On Jeep Speedways Take them away.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Oh very well, Hello, welcome to the Dolphin UK podcast.
Coming up on the show this week, we choose our
top ten plays of twenty twenty four and look forward
to the super Bowl this coming weekend. Talking of top ten,
(00:50):
someone who is in the top ten of Miami Dolphins
podcasters is Lee, who is here as always. How are
you doing, sir, I'm doing very well.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Not quite a Snazzy's Union new T shirt. Yeah, I
quite like it.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Actually, it's I managed to grab it off Vinted for
about fifteen quid. I mean, those of you who see
our clips on social media will know the top I'm
talking about when.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
We release it.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
But it's a long sleeve, aquacolored T shirt with the
Dolphins logo backslap bang in the middle of the chest.
So yeah, bargain from Vinted. There's quite a few things
on vinted actually, and I don't know whether you've ever
shocked on vintedly, but have a browse and there's quite
a few mindy Dolphins related items on there.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I have an amazing vinted story where I was going
through some stuff that no longer fitted me. So my wife,
in her effort to rid me of dolphins things because
I haven't way you too much and I just collect
and then Hoarde Memorabilia said can I put some of
(01:49):
the stuff and some feed you on there? And I
reluctantly said, yeah, here's a few things that you can
just enough to pacify, you know. So she'd let it
go and I could keep all the other stuff that
I wanted a couple of those. I get a phone
call from my brother. He says, you're not going to
believe this. I found a great top for you and
vinted and I bought it. So please don't tell me
you've bought a top fro that I owned from my
(02:11):
wife to give back to me. He was like, yeah,
I said, I sent you a picture of it.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I was like, like, you know that's my house that
you recognize the background. And then I went to my wife,
was it Are you seriously going to post that to
my brother? She was like, what do you mean to
your brother? I was like, look at the address, it's
going to my brother's house. But yeah, very maybe chuckle.
But they had no idea at the time.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
They just hadn't clopped that the users were each other,
and even though they talked fairly regularly, Yeah, just completely
missed the fact. When it turned up would have been
would have been very funny.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Now the question is did he actually give it to
you as a gift?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
No, But I think they actually lost money on it
because she never ended up sending it and it obviously
he didn't obviously want wanted to. But I think they
had to play a transaction fee because essentially they had
made the sale. Yeah, I don't know how they resulted in.
I'm sure neither of them should be allowed to use
the Internet. I think it's probably the bottom line of that.
(03:13):
But it was all done in good spirits. But my
brother is Tampa Bay fan, as I said before, and
to be fair, he was looking out for stuff for me,
so I appreciate that, even if it wasn't necessarily well executed.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Excellent Talking of things that are well executed, we're going
to go through our top ten plays of the season,
aren't we as chosen by ourselves. We're going to go
through five each for each play we've chosen for various reasons,
and we're going to go in reverse order. Aren't we.
(03:47):
So we're going to start with our tenth and ninth
chosen plays. We do five each, So shall we listen
to the first play of our choice? Who's in position
number two?
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Ten? Absolutely first and ten another pig run.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
There he goes, he's got wide open space.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Eight.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Ten for the eight parts of hit a touchdown by
Miami fifty yards.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
That was, of course, Devon a Chan scoring fifty yard
TV run against the forty nine Ers in weeks sixteen.
I believe there was one fifty four left on the clock,
and the reason I chose that one leave was because
it was essentially it put them up by twelve and
clinched the game. So I know it's only the forty nine,
as we say, who had didn't have the best of seasons.
(04:42):
But the forty nine Ers, one, whichever way you look
at it, are an elite franchise. They either do really
well and reach conference championships or Super Bowls or Super Bowls,
or they have down seasons. Now this seasons has been
one of their down seasons, but nevertheless, they are still
an elite franchise. And of course they're the team that
(05:03):
the Dolphins lost to in their last Super Bowl appearance.
Always liked to get one over the forty nine ers
ever since that particular game. So an important win in
the whole scheme of things, and a good win and
capped off by that long touchdown run by Devar.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
H Absolutely, like you say, they're a tough team to
beat any point. Well coached, and obviously that that coaching
match up between the Dolphins and the Raiders and the
history there, sorry for forty nine Ers, made for an
interesting matchup and it felt like a big win on
the night as well. And now that, like you say,
(05:36):
that just capped it off perfectly, right.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Number nine play the.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Turn of I lower twenty three and twenty six.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I'm steady the.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Time he looks close touchdown.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
So I picked this play and this was two of
the ways you heard in for a touchdown on the
road against the Bills, and I thought this. I enjoyed
this play, particularly because I thought it showed growth that
we hadn't necessarily seen and something that to us come
under criticism for in the past. Was always wanting to
go to that first read and we've said before when
(06:18):
it's open, obviously you will go to the first raad.
But this time he worked his way through traffic, extended
the play and then found a wide open Jayven Waddle
in the end zone for a touchdown. Then, so it
just felt like growth to me from some of the
years past.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
That was in the last minute or two, wasn't it
that tied the game? And obviously we know what happened
shortly after that with the Bill's kicker booming one from
seventy odd yards or something ridiculous, which was a franchise
or a career high for him, so that the outcome
of the game didn't go the way we wanted, but
that put us on an even keel heading towards the
(06:57):
end of the fourth in it which is like you say,
it's where two I had to put on his big
boy pants, wasn't it and get the Dolphins on even terms?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah? Absolutely, I think as one of those places that
can go on any highlight reel because it's against a
good opponent on the road, an opponent you struggled against,
and you put up a big touchdown in an important
juncture at the game.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
And of course it was another Kevin Harlan one. So
with two for two on Kevin Harland's commentary clips, so
are we going to hear any more, I wonder, why
don't we listen to number eight, Lee.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Carlson the kickoff Miami Way, have no timeouts. This will
be taken in my league.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Washington, we.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
The one's under cross and runs in the good tract
on that.
Speaker 6 (07:45):
Then finally.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Another Kevin Kevin Harland three for three. Didn't even know
Lee when we were picking these. Quite coincidence, I think,
But yeah, that was Malie Washington's forty five yard kickoff
return against the Jets in Week fourteen with fifty six
seconds left on the clock, and the importance of that
two things stood out for me. Lee was one, it
obviously put the Dolphins in a really good position to
(08:12):
tie the game as we headed and send it to overtime.
But also, if you recall on the durey on during
that run, he absolutely flattered the Jets, kickered in the
and bulldozed over him, which was a great moment for
everyone in the stadium because you could hear that all
from the crowd as he went through that kicker. So
those two moments in particular, which is why essentially I
(08:35):
chose this one as one of my favorites of the season.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
To think about it is then when you listen to
the audio back and you don't have the visual where
you can hear the crowd, suddenly just peek and you
know whatever's about it happens about to come across. In
the commentary as well, Yeah, it's exciting to watch it
as I'm to watch these clips back as well and
see some of the highlights of the season.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
All right, should we go for number seven and see
if we can make it four at four for Kevin Harlan.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
Lily third and goal from the nine pressures coming from
the outside talking about Lola, drops back the pass, he's
in trouble, breaks away, runs to the far side of
the field, throws on.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
The run, got Tyreek Hill in and out.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
Of the end zone, touchdown Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
So that on was Tour to Tyreek against the Raiders,
and again this was almost visually felt like the inverse
of the Waddle play. It was to the other side
of the field is obviously in a home game, but
Tour worked through a lot of traffic, kept the play alive,
moved a lot to his left to make the space,
(09:45):
and waited for Tyreek to come free across the front
of the end zone and then hit him for the touchdown. Again,
this felt like another one of those plays where if
I wanted to point at growth over the last couple
of years, this would be another one of those plays.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah. Was that the one where Tyreek Kill ran literally
from one end zone all the way to the other?
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Yeah? He started off on the right, the right of
the formation and kind of kind of hit a shallow
crossing route across a right at the front of the
end zone where he was only maybe a yard or
two into the end zone, kind of navigated his way
all the way through traffic at full speeders tends to do,
(10:27):
and then just made himself callback friendly as tour of
scrapes and pressure. So yeah, again, it just felt like
a again, another one of those steps forwards where it's
your game has expanded.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yeah, excellent, Okay, let's go on to number six.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Touchdown and you do all the dirty work, you get
the football for the touchdown.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
That was of course, alec Ingolds scoring a three yard
touchdown run to clinch the win at New England in
Week five. And a couple of reasons I chose this
one League was primarily because we were at the watch
party in London, weren't we hosting that event, and it
was packed full of Dolphins fans on the back of
we were watching the game on the back of three
(11:20):
consecutive defeats, so morale was quite low. The team weren't
performing very well. We had a room full of Dolphins
watching the game, and that particular play effectively clinched the
win for us near the end of the game, didn't it.
So the rumorerupted. Everybody was really happy and it made
the trip down to London to host that watch party
all the more worthwhile, didn't it.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, that's a special that's a special game for us. Obviously,
hosting the watch party in London was a really unique
opportunity and something I think we were blessed to be
a part of. And like you say, even though morole
may have been low at the start of the game,
I think you can see through the social media clips
(12:11):
that were posted afterwards how it brought everyone together and
how everyone was hanging on the edge of their seats
there late in the game, say the touchdown, and then
even later in the game when the Dolphins eventually went
on to win it.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Right, that was number six. Who've we got at number five.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
Personnel that they have, Boy Ramsey again untouched, and that
one is Pitt turn Well duncing.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
So this was Tyrel Dodson picking off drink may in
the game against Patriots, but a hard rock stadium. I
was at the game, and it's been a really weird
kind of game. The Dolphins started off not fast, but
then kind of scored a lot of points in really
(13:04):
quick succession at the start the second quarter. And I
told this story earlier the year about how some of
the Patriots beat writers sitting in the press box, we're
already checking out. They were trying to go home. But
this occurred with about five minutes to play, and things
that kind of turned on ahead a little bit here
because the Dolphins were up by sixteen, but the Patriots
(13:27):
had the ball kind of close to midfield with five
minutes to play and kind of had all the momentum.
It was a bit of a weird swing where it
was like, we're not gonna you're not gonna throw us away,
and then Tyro Dodson comes up with a great pick
after some pressure off the edge from Jaden Ramsey, as
you heard in the clip. But so it felt like
an important play in a game where you kind of
(13:48):
lost a bit of momentum after kind of scoring and
being on easy Street a little bit, maybe with a
long time to play.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
I remember feeling at the time that game was very
felt very like Ten's esque, didn't it From the season
before where the Dolphins lost the game later on having
been up to scores and like you say, with the
Patriots having a bit of momentum, It kind of had
that feel to it, didn't it. So it was certainly
a timely pick from that perspective.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Yeah, I say it. I don't think it's going to
make many people's top ten ten lists, but it felt
important in the grand scheme of things at the time. Again,
might not be the game at the top of people's
list to go back and watch the season, but when
I was going through some of the games, it just
felt like a pivotal moment that deserves a bit of
a bit of a shout out.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Talking of pivotal moments, that leads nicely into pick number four.
Play the clip.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Lee ETMB there first in.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Yeah, another Kevin Harland clip for you there, And that
was of course Jovon Holland punching the board out from
Travis ETN against the Jaguars in week one, when ETN
was just about to score and the game. It certainly
changed the momentum of the game because the Jags were
ahead in that one and not knocking on the door again,
And that turnover from Jevon Holland certainly swung momentum in
(15:25):
that particular game. And had that play not happened, you'd
have said the Dolphins probably would have lost that game
to the Jags and ultimately would have gone zero to
four heading into that aforementioned New England game. So I think,
given the fact that it was a heads up played
by Javon Holland in changing the momentum, it is why
(15:50):
I ranked it as certainly my second favorite player of
the year because and we were there, of course, weren't
we there watching that, And that happened right in front
of me down in that that ends, and you could
see ETN easily reaching the end zone, and all of
a sudden and there's and all of a sudden, you
could see Jevon Holland come out of nowhere and literally
(16:13):
punch the ball out just moments before he was due
to cross that line. So great play from Jovon Holland,
and that's our overall ranked number four, isn't it?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
It is? And that felt like just a pure effort
play because he could have given that up as a touchdown.
Like you say, Etn was going into the end zone.
I mean that that was a play that you see
people give up on a lot and just kind of
reside themselves to the fact that that is going in
and instead, you know, Javon's punching the ball out the
(16:46):
one yard line.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
And apologies there if you happen to hear the Dolphins
fight song in the background. Somebody just happened to be
ringing on my mobile as I was talking about that clip.
So apologies, Bob. I'll have to bring you back later, right, Sorry, Godley.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
I can say that takes us on to clip number three.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
I did smikee the tight ended motion. Talk about Lowell
looking to the far side. He throws off his back
like men on the field and who split wide open.
He's trying to sprint his way toward the goal when
he's in touchdown Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
So that was Johnny Smith scoring a touchdown after being
wide open on obviously a blown coverage by the Raiders
late in the game. Now I put this high not
because it is important in the game. But it was
a great memory because I sat in the in the
(17:49):
stands and watched this with my dad, and we were
obviously talking back and forth during the game, and he
doesn't really watch football understand the game the way that
we might watch it. And I remember him saying as
that play developed, why is no one going with that guy?
And then all of a sudden, you see two I
let it go and John who's standing all on his own,
(18:12):
and then was the Paul's asked to the end zone,
which I believe is one of the fastest plays of
the years. I wasn't it. He was measured at a
high speed that day. But yeah, great play. It was
a good memory of watching the game of my dad.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Yeah, exactly. And did your dad talk about that particular
play often afterwards on when he was reminiscing about his
day out.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Oh yeah, I mean he's saying, why was no one
with him? I can't explain to you. I'm guessing. I
guess think someone on the Raiders coaching starf was asking
the exact same question, and who cares exactly. I'm glad
it was okay.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
So that leads us nicely to number two on the list.
Of my personal favorite for this past season, and that
is a play that directly resulted from the aforementioned to
Von Holland punching the ball out of Trevis Atn's hands
on the next play might have been the very next play,
because I think it was from the twenty to a
(19:12):
hit Tyreek for an eighty yard touchdown to essentially get
the Dolphins back in the game at Week one matchup
and longest play from scrimmage this season. Obviously longest touchdown
this season. We were there, of course again had a
really great view of that from the back end zone,
and I've watched I managed to get a video clip
of the touchdown. Charlie from Go Time Dolphins, who sat
(19:34):
with me for that game, happened to be videoing that
particular play at the time it happened, and it was
a great clip that you could simply keep looking back
on time and time again, and I've done that numerous times.
Each time you look at something different, So you look
at the time to a had, you look at the
route Tyreek Hill took on the field, you look at
(19:55):
the roots of the other wide receivers. It's a really
good view of an all twenty two kind of camera
angle if you like, and so much to see even
though we were quite far away, even as far as
when Tyreek scores a touchdown on the left hand side
of the end zone and runs all the way across
the right to the right hand side of the end zone.
(20:15):
You can see him do his handcuff celebration as well,
right at the end of the clip.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
So that was my.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Personal moment of the season being there for that atyard touchdown.
It's not often you get to see a play go
for eighty yards, especially a touchdown. So that's why it
ranked my number one. And given that everything that happened
prior to the gamely around Tyreek's incident with the law
enforcement guys, for him to bounce back and demonstrate that
(20:47):
kind of performance and resilience and not let it bother
him was credit to him at the time in terms
of how he handled that, and so lots of reasons
there why I like that particular play.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Yeah, and I think he showed the the fact that
talent is is always there. The Dolphins has struggled throughout
the game, but it just took that one play. That
one play changed everything changed. The feel in the stadium, changed,
the way you think that game may have turned out
so well, I think we should hear the clip.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
John twenty. It goes back first and ten tun b,
I'm s canase go and deep He's come here?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Six is a ghost.
Speaker 6 (21:36):
Anywhere touchdown.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
And of course it's got the iconic He's got hell
commentary as well, which we all know and love. So Lee,
who is ranked? Which play is ranked our number one
of the twenty twenty four season. Who's which play have
you gone for?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
So? I picked the number one one play and we
do It's probably worth giving some context here we do
this is a bit of a draft system, so we
don't both pick the we can't both pick the same play.
We take it in turns and we work from one downwards.
So this year I picked first. I think you picked
first last year, which is why we did it this
way around last year. And this is this is my
(22:16):
pick for the best player of the year, because again,
it felt like a huge moment, not necessarily against the
best team in the NFL, but it felt like a
huge moment where the tour needed to be the guy
and he was in a tough moment. So let's hear
the clip and then we can we can talk a
(22:37):
little bit more about this good time to do so. Yeah,
that was too. It's Johnny Smith in overtime against Jets.
It just felt like that whole overtime period felt dominated.
(23:00):
I'd love to put the whole overtime period in here
at number one, to be honest and play the whole
you know, every completion and every run because the Dolphins,
I don't know, it's the first time that I've seen
them play in an overtime period where they just look
like they were never going to lose. They played like
the superior team, which was you know, which was a
(23:23):
contrast to the way some of the game had got.
But it felt like after the last drive, like you said,
the leak Washington return that you picked earlier on that
set up the play at the end to tie the game,
everything just felt so big. But it felt like a
huge moment again to a bought time. Everyone ran ran
(23:43):
terrific where else, and it felt fitting that Johnny Smith
was able to catch it after the not catching a
ball during regulation, but basically being the focus of the overtime.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
I remember seeing Tour on the sidelines after they tied
it up with a field goal. He seemed really up
for it, if I recall, and he was almost pumping
up the rest of his teammates, wasn't he. And they
seemed energized, didn't they on the back of And it
all started with that return by Washington And then it
kind of that momentum carried on, didn't it, because they
easily got to the field goal to send it to overtime,
(24:16):
And like you say, there was they were very dominant
in that overtime period as well, So it all stemmed
from that return. But I just liked the way two
stood up and got that offense really motivated and energized,
didn't he.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, a really big moment, and then he was other
than the I think it was the first play of
overtime where he ends up throwing the ball away, which
is a huge play. We mentioned this earlier in one
of the earlier shows. After that, I mean, he was
just money on every stow. Everyone was doing their job correctly.
The offensive line, wide receivers a running greater. You know,
(24:50):
Tyrek made himself free and made a great catch on
the sideline. They Johnny made a bunch of catches so
included I think running the same play basically twice, one
after the other the big games, which must the most
infuriating thing as an opposing coach when that happens.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Soon was that the game where John neu Smith threw
the ball into the end zone crowd and it was
his son that caught it? It was it was that game?
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Yeah, it was yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Yeah, of all the of all the people to throw
the ball to, he had to throw it to his son.
Or or was it the Raiders game.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
On the might have been that might have been that
one against the Raiders actually, but yeah, So that was
my play of the of the season.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
So many to choose from there. And if you're listening
to the pod and we haven't featured your favorite player
of the year, do let us know because it's certainly
worth a mention. We can't accommodate every single play, can
we leave? These were just our top ten personal favorites,
weren't they?
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Yeah, And I'm using if you caught us at a
different time, we'd maybe pick a different pay or a
different five of each. But that's part of the one
of it. And maybe we'll do it again later in
the year. Maybe we'll do during the OS, we'll do
your top ten defensive Players of the Year. Just so fun.
I was just looking that up. And the Johnny Smith
bable that was caught by someone against the Raiders. I
think it was actually after that touchdown that we played
(26:06):
earlier in the Yeah, in our clips. But yeah, so
that rounds up our top ten, right.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
So we've got a big game this weekend, haven't we, Lee?
In terms of the Super Bowl between the Eagles and
the Chiefs, We're going to take a quick look at
that game and before the weekend. So what are your
early thoughts, Lee in terms of are you going to
be able to predict a winner and how is the
game going to go?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
I don't know if I can predict a winner. I'll
give my selection later on. For sure. I must say
I was not as disappointed as many on social media
with the Chiefs get into the Super Bowl. That didn't
really bother me as much as I think I really
would have been more bothered by the Bills being there
as a division rival than being completely honest, but I thought,
(26:54):
you know, the Eagles played incredibly well to secure their
place in the Super Bowl, and to be first I
did the Chiefs. They kept that game close, even though
they made a lot of mistakes in that game as well.
You know, I wouldn't say they put their best foot forward.
I do wonder slightly if the Eagles have peaked a week,
you know, a game too soon and where they put
that you know, all encompassing performance together. You know they're
(27:19):
going to need to try and replicate that next week.
Where I think, you know, Kansasity will be looking at
the Bills game saying we made plenty of mistakes and
there's plenty to clear up heading into the big game.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
I think the key matchup for me is that Chiefs
defense against Sekwon Barkley, because he's been arguably one of
the best players in the league this season. I mean
he might not Yeah, you might not win MVP because
that could go and we'll probably go to either Josh
Allen Orlamar Jackson. You would have thought. But he's had
an outstanding season and obviously fell just shy of the
(27:53):
season rushing record in terms of yards, and if he's
going to be the key to the Eagles winning the game,
I think if he can run the ball as he
has been doing throughout the season, then the Eagles have
got a really good chance of winning. However, the chief
So yeah, the Eagles got a chance of winning. If
the Chiefs stop him, and their defense has been playing
(28:13):
well enough this season to actually do that, then I
think the Chiefs have got a chance themselves of threepeating
because on offense, I know they have my homes and
they've got a decent wide receiver corps. They've not actually
played brilliantly over the course of the season. All of
their games have been relatively close, including the one against
(28:33):
the Bills, so I'm not sure that there is any
clear favorite. Both teams have got a valid argument for winning,
and both teams have got a very valid argument for
not being good enough. The one telling factor for me, though,
that's going to swing it is that the Chiefs haven't
scored more than thirty one points this season, I believe,
whereas the Eagles offense have they not racked up fifty
(28:58):
five in the conference championship game. Again, it's the second
best team in the NFC, and I think that's where personally,
I think we're going to see the difference, albeit close,
and that's going to be reflected in my game prediction
lye which will deliver shortly. But you see the argument
I'm trying to make here in terms of the key matchups.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Absolutely, it's funny, isn't it, Because I completely agree with you.
I don't think the Chiefs have played their best. It
doesn't feel like they've played as good as football as
they've played over the last few years. Most of the season.
They had a fifteen and two team in the Super
Bowl playing the fourteen and three team. It almost doesn't
make sense. Perhaps would you want to be against the
(29:42):
Chiefs putting not thirty one points in the Super Bowl
just to buck that trend. I mean, it's a fascinating matchup.
I just hope we don't get that thing that we
saw in Super Bowl. Oh, I can't remember which Super
Bowl it was. It was the It's Denver against Seattle,
which on paper was going to be a great matchup,
(30:03):
and Denver just never showed up and it was a
complete steamroll by the by the Seahawks. It is the
one at MetLife Stadium, And I think as a neutral
in this instance, I just want to see a great
game of football. I think we saw it last week
in the championship games. For me, that's my favorite weekend
of football is Championship weekend. I think those games are
(30:25):
the best games because they've got a lot on the line,
but they feel more like regular games and having all
the extra stuff that the Super Bowl has, and I
think that can cause that kind of cup mentality that
sometimes you see even football, where teams are almost afraid
of losing, whereas I think in the championship games you
see them go out to win.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Talking of the Eagles winning the championship game, did you
see that clip on social media that went viral of
the Philadelphia there's initiating an Eagles chance, you know how
they do as eg l e s And then she
only went and spelled the word Eagles completely wrong and
didn't spell it anywhere near how it was spelled properly
and tried to get the crowd going, and the clip
(31:07):
went viral because you couldn't sun it right.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
I haven't seen that. I've been ill, and I am
going to go and look that up as soon as
we finished recording this, because that is a sort of
thing that I would do as a terrible speller. And
it's also very funny.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
It was very funny from the mayor of Philadelphia. But
enough said, right, what give us a score prediction?
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Then?
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Lee, how do you think the game is going to finish.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
I mean, Travis said it on our show at the
start of the season, and it feels like the right
way to end it at this point for me is
until somebody beats the Chiefs. Are going to have to
pick the Chiefs. And you said they haven't scored thirty
one points all season, so give me thirty one twenty
eight Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
Now, I'm going to go slightly the other way, actually,
and I'm going to think their inability to hit thirty
one point going to continue. I think they're going to
fall just short of that again, but I think the
Eagles are going to be too strong. I'm going to
go for a narrow wind like you. But the other way,
I'm going to go thirty to twenty eight to Philadelphia.
(32:13):
And one factor that I haven't mentioned that perhaps we
should have done, is how quiet Travis Kelsey has been lately.
He was almost a non factor in that championship game.
And whilst there's no substitute for experience, you take him
out of the offense like the Bills pretty much did,
and does make that cheese offense a little bit more predictable,
shall we say so. I wonder how much of a
(32:35):
role Travis Kelsey is going to have in the game.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
It absolutely does. Still in the game mode.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Yeah, I've got a vested interest with a couple of
work colleagues who are based in Philadelphia, and they are
mad Eagles fans, and one of them has promised to
send me some Eagles Super Bowl winning merch if the
Eagles were to actually come out victorious. So like they
did last time the Eagles won the Super Bowl, they
(33:03):
sent me a T shirt with Super Bowl champs all
over it. And I won't tell her, but the T
shirt was given away on eBay, not vinted eBay. So yeah, right,
that brings the show too closely. Anything do you want
to add before we draw to close?
Speaker 2 (33:22):
No, everyone enjoyed the Super Bowl and after that, let's
get into some draft content and look forward to the
combine and some of the prospects that will be headed
into the NFL Draft in April.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Absolutely, so, we got that coming up to you in
a couple of weeks time, and plus then shortly after
that we can start to turn our attention to free agency.
Don't forget to continue to check out all the other
Dolphins content on social media. Travis continues to generate his
daily podcast. In the meantime, cheerio from us, thanks once
again for listening, and we shall speak to you soon.
