We are now under a month until the start of
the twenty twenty five NFL. I'm John Schmelt, joined by
Tony Pauline from Sports Kida. As usual, Draft Season is

circuit is coming fast and furious coming up. Earlier this

week on Monday was Cam Ward and his cohorts at
the University of Miami Pro Day and look, I think
Ward did a nice job. He showed off his arm
strength different angles, got the ball out through on the move,
was pretty accurate with the ball. He didn't I don't
know how I really helped himself, but I think he
showed me what he can do. He certainly didn't hurt himself,
which is all really you're looking for for one of

People can see it come out of your hand in person,
and I think he pushed all those goals.

Completely agree with you. A guy like Cam Woder pro
day workout, he's not going to help himself. All he's
going to do is hurt him. I mean, gods forbid,
he's all over the place. We've seen that before with
highly rated quarterbacks who are inaccurate. They're making receivers work hard.
I get the big story from yesterdays was rapestra of
the receiver running in the high four to sevens, low
four to eights, people saying it's not him out of

day two. I never had him as a Day two pick.
I always had him as a mid to late Day
three selection. He was never a speed guy. He was
always a quick, explosive route runner with a terrific head
for the position. And you know, if you had him.
I had him on that board as a fifth rounder.
He's probably not going to be a seventh rounder because
you were never drafting him for his vertical speed. You

were never drafting him because you know he was a
deep threat. You're drafting him as an underneath possession receiver
who separates through his routes. He's still very good at that,
but he's just slow.

Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
People have made the Lad McCaughey comparisons, which I never
saw or understood. I mean, I understand why people did it.
It's done why they did it, But so you can
now throw those away with Bakaki's.

Four to four to four speed or four four. I
think it was some four four speed that he had
last year.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
One of the pro DA notes, Tony, have you had
over the last week or so that have stuck out
to you before we get to draft?

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah, you mentioned yesterday's workout. Marshall and Boston College also
worked out yesterday, and neither Donovan as a ROKU or
Mike Green ran the forty for scouts, which means they're
not going to run the forty before the draft.

And it's interesting. I know that Green did run shuttles.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I'm getting different times on that as a rocker who
did run the shuttles at the combine and he was incredible.
So I mean, I guess those guys are just going
to point to their GPS speed that we saw at
the Senior Bowl. It is interesting as that Kyle Kannard,
who was projected as a four to eight guy, did

run the forty through the process, ran faster and expected
as Iraq, who is expected was projected as a four
to seven five guy.

So maybe that's why he's not running. I don't know.

Still a good player, I don't have him as a
first rounder, as a lot of people do. We got
to talk about the Arkansas Day three receivers Andrew Armstrong
and Isaac Tesla. Obviously, Tesla tested through the roof at
the combine three and the forty four point five in
the short shuttle six point eighty five and the three
come thirty nine and a half inches in the vertical

and just caught the ball extremely well during the Pro
Day workout of Arkansas, which was on Saint Patti's Day.
Andrew Armstrong, who was a guy that I've spoken about
really throughout the season on the show. If if you
watched US seventy eight receptions for eleven hundred and forty
yards last year, timed in the mid to low four fours,
which is pretty significant. Some teams had him at four

three seven, and that's significant because it beats expectations. He
was a guy who was expected to be a mid
four to five guy, all of a sudden doesn't at
the combine. He runs in a low four to four
some four to threes at PRODA, So now you also
know that he's got that speed to go with the
lengthy six foot four great past catching skills, was called six'

eighty four in the three, cone another great. Mark and
it's an interesting dynamic Because tesla is this incredible athlete
who didn't have great production the past two years At,
arkansas and here Is Andrew, armstrong who was viewed upon
as a.

Tremendous pass catcher but didn't have the.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Athleticism and now we're seeing both of them mesh it
together and bring it, together and it will end up
in both of these receivers being, selected probably somewhere in
the middle Of day. Three and then, finally what's coming
to question are the arm measurements at The. Combine AND
i spoke with a lot of people about this. Yesterday
if you look at players who are at The combine

and you compare it to their arm measurements At Pro
day or The Shrine bowl or even The Senior, Bowl
combine arm measurements have been consistently anywhere from an eighth
of an inch to almost three quarters of an inch
shorter than those other, events which are also measured BY nfl.
Scouts Drew, kendall for, EXAMPLE i think he was thirty

one and seven eight inch at The. Combine yesterday he
measured at almost thirty two and a half inches Armand
membo measured thirty three inches thirty three and a half
inches at the. Combine his arm measurement at the seneuble
was thirty four, inches.

On ted, McMillan i believe his arm measurement at the
combine was thirty one and five aceh.

INCHES i was told that to talk to his team.

Yesterday he was not remeasured at that private pro day
workout where he ran in the low four, fives WHICH
i guess in the in the end is probably gonna
be a mistake because he may have measured his arms
over thirty two. Inches john AND i are taping this On.
Tuesday tomorrow is LSU's Pro. Day we all Remember Will
campbell thirty two and five eighths inches at the. Combine

everybody was like, whoa, WHOA. Woa my prediction is Tomorrow
Will campbell's arm will be measured anywhere from thirty three
to thirty three and a quarter. Inches not a huge,
deal more, perception but it gets over that thirty three
inch arm more thirty three inch mark that you want
in an offensive tackles.

a chance to talk to many people about that, Either
but those combined numbers were strange up and down the.

Opinion ted McMillan is that dominant number one receiver that
an offense Like Gino smith. Needs it's not a vertical,
guy but he's, tall he's. Consistent he was a guy

Tape as far as natural pass catching, skills he's also incredibly.
