Speaker 1 (00:00):
How's Cam going for yourself?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
How would you how would you summarize it?
Speaker 3 (00:03):
It's going great. I think guys are working their butts off.
Speaker 4 (00:05):
Man.
Speaker 5 (00:05):
We're battling every day, going to get some really good
defense every day too, so it's even even better. You know,
you always want to practice be harder than the games,
you know that mentality of that, and so it's been fun.
Speaker 6 (00:14):
Man.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I think we're getting better every day.
Speaker 7 (00:15):
Christ being such a you know, being veteran, do you
have more of say you think and how you're going
to be deployed and used in these preseason games and
what what? What do you want to do?
Speaker 5 (00:24):
I always want to be out there with my teammates, man,
So I'm excited to get going. If coach lets us
play or whatever it is, I'm ready to go.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'm ready to play.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Russ was talking about to Believe yesterday about how much
you'd kind of encourage them to be a little bit
more of a voice in the second year, and can
you talk a little bit about that with the motivation
there and just how he's generally looked as you've gotten
to know him.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
Yeah, I think Malik's done a great job, just his leadership,
his his voice in the in the in the film
room too. You know, he's done a great job of that,
been telling him that. You know, the more he you know,
more he communicates what he sees and feels, not just
to us, you know, quarterbacks, but really to the group
as a receiver. And I want to be on the
same page. I think he's doing a great job of that.
You know, he's really just stepped into that role, the
leadership role. Obviously, he's got guys like Slay to watch
(01:07):
and listen to and to be in the room with
one DL. All those guys are so tremendously smart and
experience in a lot of ways. And so I think
also too, you know, I think he's really done a
great job of just his practice, habits and and and
when he's out there going as hard as he can,
every every repay with him. Yeah, you know you see
(01:28):
it on film. Yeah, for sure, you see it on film.
I mean that was the first thing I told you guys.
When I watch him on film, watching all the cutups
of him and all the cutups of the guys and
all the plays, all the games, it was just his explosives.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
And once he catches the football and.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
There's only so many people in the world that can
do it like he can, and I think that he's
one of the best in the world to do it.
And he's you know, he's he's going into a second
year of it all and it's it's all fresh and
all new. But he's, uh, he's definitely experienced in terms
of how he sees the game, his mentality, you know,
attacking the football in the air as you know, you
guys have seen all the explosive plays he's made down
the field also even underneath and all the things he's
(02:02):
done too as well, and you know it's going to
be a special thing.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I'm excited to play with him opposite somebody like you.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I've gotten very known for the other on the ball
and all that and then well you like to go deep.
How exciting is that to have him as.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
One of those weapons.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Yeah, I mean, I think we got you know, multiplicity
of guys that can do it. Obviously, Malik, you know,
his world class of what he can do. There's nothing really.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
He can't do, and I think he does a great
job of that.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
So you know, I think it all starts the office line.
The line's given me enough time to throw the ball
down the field and make plays also too, you know,
for guys to you know, you try to spread the
ball around as many guys as you can, try to
take shots with certain guys and see what these guys
are capable of. And we've got a lot of guys
that are really talented and capable of making plays all
across the field.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
People's known for a coach that takes a lot of
input from players. Is that something you to going back
and forth to considering your experience and all that. As
far as you having a lot of inprot with him
and him going back and forth and all that.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Yeah, I mean, I think first of all, day Ball's
got a beautiful mind. How he sees the game. He's
coached tremendous football players. He's you know, won Super Bowl,
He's been around, been around winning National Championship, all that stuff.
So he's he he's been in the game for such
a period of time. And I think the thing about
Daves is he sees it on the field so well.
I think that's the unique piece about what he sees it,
(03:17):
you know, and how he communicates to us quarterbacks. I
think that the best part too is in terms of
the knowledge and what we get to share back and
forth is pretty cool, you know, just over the years,
all my experience, his experience, how we see the game
the same way.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
You know.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
When I came here, you know, I was able to
spend a lot of time. You know, he watched all
my cutups. I got to watch a lot of things
that you know, we've done.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Here in the past. And and also to just.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Be able to share ideas and be able to share
thoughts and as we've been going to and uh, that's
been really fun. I think him and Calf and and
and also Shay too, you know, and Shae I've known
since I've been eighteen years old, so a lot of
that is a lot of familiarity, not just with each other,
but also too with ball in the game.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Just mentioned that Brian Davill has a beautiful mind for football.
What kind of mind does Mike Coska has because he's
the guy you gotta you know, he's gonna be calling
a lot of play for plays in and how how
much of a sink you need to be with him?
Speaker 5 (04:08):
I think both guys, you know, obviously CAF's played the game,
played the position, He's sees it like the quarterback does
and he's got a great viewpoint of the game. You know,
we get to spend a lot of time together in
the quarterback room as well. And you know, I think
Calf is really brilliant mind too. I think the the
ability to share ideas. I think the collaboration is what's
really special here. And I think that you know, how
(04:29):
they do it and how we do it together, it's
been a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
You know, it's been a lot of fun of Vianna
attack the.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Defense, see things and share share a lot of successful
plays and loss sessful ideas.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
And I think that's been a lot of fun too.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
What is your impression of.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Yeah, I think Tracey has had a great you know
training camp O t As. There's nothing that he can't do,
catching the ball out of the backfield, his ability to
run the ball. Yes, you all saw some of the
big runs he had today. You know, I think Motor
too as well. Both of those running backs have been
really spectacular for us. And once again, it all starts
the offensive line. How they've been doing a great job
of you know, creating you know, big run lanes for
those guys when they can. And you know, we're going
(05:05):
against a really good defense. So you know, when when
you get to go against those guys, it just makes
us all better offensively and defensively. And I think that
level of competition daily back and forth is making our football.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Team better every day. Second end, what do you see
from the time.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
I think THEO has been really showing up, you know,
the past several days in particular. You know, I think
he's done a tremendous job of you know, he's vertically
of his ability to get down the field, you know,
vertically has been really good.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I think he's done that a few times.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
Obviously he saw the big touchdown across or he ran
today just speed down the field. You know, he's he's
made some really big plays with the past four or
five practices and being really intentional with him in particular
has been cool to see over the past couple of days.
I think also Belly's done a great job. You know,
he's so consistent, and he's like mister consistent. He's guess
what you wanted, a tight end. You know where he's
(05:54):
gonna be. You know, you know he can make plays
for you. I think Doults just made some big plays
throughout the camp two and then obviously Chris Manherts, you know,
big hand man's he's just like his ability to block,
his ability to make plays.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
You know.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
And uh, you know, I've been around I've been around
Chris for a while. Man, he's just he's a pro
in every way, you know, how he goes about it.
It's it's it's fun to be around up. So we've
got a really good tight end. I'm excited about Fadoni too.
I think, you know, he's a young, talented guy, you know,
and I'm excited to see him, you know, ball out
in the preseason and see what he can do throughout
the old.
Speaker 7 (06:25):
Camp or really, since you've been here, a lot of
your teammates have been really commentary about your approach and
the atmosphere this year at camp.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
When you hear all of that, what does that make
you feel?
Speaker 4 (06:34):
And what what does it feel like to be in
an atmosphere like this it's building right now?
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Well, I think it's it's it's the best honor in
the world to be able to lead a group of
men like this, you know, and just young, driven, smart,
you know, tough, you know, talented guys.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
Man.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
It's just it doesn't it doesn't get any better than that. Man.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
That's like the greatest gift, uh in the world to
be able to lead an organization like this and to
be a part of that, and just you know, I
just want to be able to bring that championship mentality
every daychampionship approach, the competitive edge every day, how we
want to go about practice, how we want to push
each other, how we want to challenge it. And I
think ultimately, you know, to be able to you know,
have a tough mentality. You know, I think that it's
(07:12):
never easy. You know, It's one of those things that
you want to where we want to go and what
we want to accomplish. We got to be we got
to be able to stay in the moments and stay
looking forward to every the next play. And I think
we do a really good job of that right now.
We're battling and every day and.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
It's just been cool.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
I love this locker room, the guys man, just the
fellowship that we have together all the way from the
lunch room to the to the film room after practice.
You know, we go watch film every day together and
spend a lot of time just as players and that's fun,
you know, just to spend that quality time to be
able to go through the film, run the film and
just talk about what guys see, what I see, and
share that and share that knowledge.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
And so it's it's been great. Man. I am truly
grateful to be a New York Giant.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
More, you have a first ever preseason game memory or
recollection or something, you know, obviously a lot of these
guys going to be the first time ever. What about
your first time ever?
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (08:03):
I remember my my rookie year, we put the Tennessee
Titans in Seattle, and I just remember checking into the
game in the second half or whatever it was, and man,
I just I was like, I just remember my telling
myself and I still do the same thing to this day,
telling myself, man, it's just one hundred yards, just one
hundred yards fifty three and the third and just telling
myself that over and over again. I think that that
(08:24):
positive self talk, that that ability to visualize success.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
I remember I hit Braylen Edwards on a go ball
down the left side line, you know, which was a
sick go ball.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
He caught it.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
You know, it was my first go ball and you
know in an NFL game obviously, you know, moonball for
a touchdown, and then and then the game was on
the line was supposed to run eighteen fours and I
looked at my he's actually now my president.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
His name's Charlie Martin, and he was the ex receiver.
He was trying to make the team and everything.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
I'm remember, I'm third street and quarterback trying to make
it here and it's four minute drill and it's the
games late, and it's a close game. I remember telling
we had this play called eighteen force runners the right
and he's supposed to go. It's called cutwalls, go get
the safety right from the left side as the X.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
And I look at it. I break the huddle.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
I say, hey, block your guy, block the corner, just
go straight. He goes what to block your guy? And
I ended up faking it and pulling it because the
defense end just kept coming down and I end up
running for like a forty nine yard touchdown. Go over
in the end, Z he pancaked this guy. So I
remember those memories, man, I remember those memories just and
you get that same thrill every time you steff on
the white lines. But I still do the love of
the game, the passion for your teammates, you know, it's
(09:27):
the best game of the world and we get to
do it and I'm grateful for it every day and
those memories never leave you.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
You made the team, right, Yeah? How important preseason games
to you? Now?
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Like, obviously you're new to this team at the same time,
you're approven player in just six So how important are
they to you in order to sort of get ready
for the season? To view that, it's it's mandatory you
get some time on the field, especially since with the
new team.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
How do you view that?
Speaker 5 (09:49):
Yeah, I think I think preseason is great and it's
it's a great opportunity to prepare. I mean, everything's about preparation, right,
everything's about mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, how you get ready,
how you do you what do you eat before or
the game, and all the way to what you're listening
to to you know, uh, just putting your cleat song
for the first time again and you know, and the
fans being there and putting you shoulder pads on that
part of it. The joy of that, you know, it's
(10:10):
you never lose that joy, and I think that that's
the part that you embrace. I think also the camaraderie
of being in the huddle, you know, it started and
seven we got to get this one in. And that's
just that that experience, that feeling being on the road
and going to Buffalo. We're going to a great environment,
you know, and played there, played there, you know a
couple of years ago.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
You know, a great environment.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
You know, played on Monday night football means just doesn't
get any better playing in Buffalo in a crazy, noisy,
loud place. And and I just remember, you know, just
those things you you you embrace, And I think that
as a veteran going my fourteenth year, for me, it's
about me being prepared physically, mentally, emotional spirits, but also
to making sure what can I do to help somebody else?
Speaker 3 (10:48):
How can I serve?
Speaker 5 (10:49):
And how can I make sure that our teammates are
ready to go and the best way possible. And part
of that is is really speaking life in the guys,
making sure they're not too nervous, you know, make reminded
them what they've already done, reminding them the preparation has
already prepared them for.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
And uh, just being in the moment, and it's being
right where your feet are.
Speaker 7 (11:07):
You've been around long enough to see the elevation, the evolution,
excuse me, the preseason from you know, four preseason games
to now. These joint practices take on a lot of
a lot of weight and you get a lot of
work out of them. What do you like about the
joint practices and what are you looking to get out of.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
Them next week?
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (11:24):
I think the joint practice are great just because you
get to go against another team. You know, you get
to see matchup and just play play football. And once again,
everything's about preparation getting ready for the season. So you know,
I think obviously our opportunity to go against the Bills
in this game coming up here, it's gonna be a great
one obviously. I think the next week, I think it's
the Jets, right, I think, Uh, And those practices are
really really great. You know, they've got great talented players
(11:44):
on that side, and we get to play some football
and strap up the pads and the reality is you
get seventeen regular season games and hopefully three to four more,
and you know, so every opportunity gets great.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
See your better half watches a lot of practices. Yeah,
I'm just curious that she like have it a night
time pract.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
No, I think that you know, it's always supportive. I
think see is uh is always great, you know, just
like kids being out here. It's fun too, you know.
I think you know young, you know your future. He
loves coming to practice, He loves uh. He's really good
at football too, he could play. So it's cool, you know,
throwing with them, seeing when and and seeing an amora
and see it just uh, you know, this is it's
a we have a great culture here and a great
(12:23):
organization and that family aspect of it makes it really special.
So I'm super grateful. Yeah, yeah, she loves it. Yeah,
we we all love it and uh and we can't
wait to play
