Speaker 1 (00:00):
The season is finally here and welcome to Giants' Hangouts.
It's Week one Hangouts presented by crest On. My name
is Madeline Burke, joined as always by Brandon London, Russ Salzburg,
and Matt Sietek. Guy's got a lot of excitement on
the dock at the Giants play an NFL game on
Sunday afternoon, heading to Washington to face the Commanders. But
before we get into the Week one specifics, let's look

(00:22):
at the season as a whole that lies in front
of us. The twenty twenty five season is a blank canvas,
so I want to start with some season predictions. Let's
get a little over under action going, starting with Maleik Neighbors. Brandon,
I'm gonna go to you first on this one. Malik
Neighbors over under thirteen hundred receiving yards and for contacts
last year he had one thy two hundred four.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'm gonna have to go under on this one. And
it's not because I think that this kid's not going
to be a dog and have a heck of a season.
I just feel as though that now that the Giants
have some consistency and quarterback play, the ball is going.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
To be distributed to other guy.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
So I feel like although Malik's numbers may go down,
you might see a rise in the numbers in the
Wandale Robinson's, Darius Slayton's, then THEO Johnson's as well.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Russ I concur with Brandon, I was gonna say the
exact same thing. While I think Malik is gonna have
himself a very good year, I do think the number
very well could be lower than it was last year,
simply because other guys are going to get involved, not
just the Wandol Robinson's, let's say, or the Darius Slayton's,
but THEO Johnson. I think we're going to see some action,

(01:34):
a lot of production out of our.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Out of the time.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Yeah, we'll be spreading. So I believe it's under for Malik.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
All right, Sietek, what do you think.

Speaker 7 (01:43):
I guess I'll be the contrarian here. I'm gonna go
over simply because you look at his numbers last year.
Malik at one hundred and seventy targets one seven year,
that was top five in the NFL. If some of
those passes this year are just more catchable balls, he's
going to clear third teen hundred with no issues whatsoever.
So I'm going over for Malik.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I think it's also interesting to remember that Malik only
played in fifteen games last season, So twelve hundred plus
yards in fifteen games.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
I'm gonna hit the over as well. I'm with you
on that, Matt. Plus, he had four different quarterbacks throwing
him the ball last season.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
This year, I think the consistency is going to be
great for his numbers. All right, next one, we're going
Abdul Carter, the rookie. We know he has come out
and said he doesn't want to cut his hair until
he gets his first sack. Over under seven and a
half sacks from Abdul Carter quickly, Russ.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
You know what, I'm going to go with the over.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
But I just think he's going to be a dom
If he's a he might very well be the defensive
rookie of the year. I just think he's going to
be a dominant player. He's going to be an impact
player from Game one, which is this week in Washington.
If he gets the over, fine, if not, he's still
going to have a stellar season.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
But I'm going to go over Matt.

Speaker 7 (02:55):
I'm going to go over as well. You know, I
think if he hits eight sacks, I think he would
tie the rookie Giants record for sacks in a season.
But just based on what we saw on training camp,
the guy is so explosive, I don't think it's gonna
be long before he's hitting double digit sacks on a
yearly basis. So seven point five over.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Brandon, I gotta go under on this one. You know,
when I was a kid, my dad used to always
tell me, I'm like Missouri to show me state and
until the Giants show that they can stop the run,
I think those sacked numbers are going to be down
for a.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Lot of those guys.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
So I'm gonna have to go under, but with an
if on the claus on it in that case.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
But I mean, from.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Everything we've seen from this kid, this kid's going to
be anything and more. I'm talking Miles Garrett TJ. Watt
type production in his career. But at the end of
the day, like Brian Burns used to say last year,
a lot of russ you got to earn the right
to rush, and if these guys want to get those sacks,
they got to stop the run on first and second
downs to get these offenses at some third.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
And longs gotta get a minute, and the show me
is the sack right there too. I think I'm gonna
go over because I feel like he has shown that
he is determined and he has focused and he's locked in.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
So I think over. I believe in him.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
But another guy, we're looking at sack numbers for Dexter Lawrence,
Sexy Dexi. Last season he had nine sacks but only
played twelve games, so over under nine and a half
from the nose tackle Sexy Dexi, Matt.

Speaker 7 (04:23):
I'm gonna have to go under here. And it's nothing
against Dexter Lawrence. He's obviously phenomenal, but he's already shown
the NFL that he is one of the best players
in the entire league. I think he's going to get
double teamed even more than he did last year, which
he was double teamed last year at a historic rate.
I think he's going to see even more double teams
this year. His sack numbers might go down, but I
think that's just going to lead to more sacks for

(04:45):
the edge rushers.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
Russ I agree.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
I think his numbers are going to go down, and
again that's by no means a knock at dexter. I
just think, listen with Carter and tipodou Burns, someone's gonna
be getting the sacks and I think I think Dex
has to stop them up front in the middle on
the run.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
So I like that number to be under. I don't
like it to be under, but I think it will
be under.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
A lot of mouths to feed Brandon, does Dex go
over under nine and a half sacks?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I mean, there's a lot of mouths to feed, but
he is the mouth to feed at three hundred and
forty pounds plus. I think it's gonna go over on
this one because of the guys that we're talking about
that can be coming off of the edge.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
Matt.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
I know he was a double team at such an
historic rate, but how are you going to be able
to double team him when you're gonna leave those tackles
on an island all by themselves.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
You're gonna see teams try.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
And chip a lot.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
But when you try and chip, that means you're keeping
one to two guys in and as opposed to trying
to get guys out in the in the past concepts.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
When it comes to the routes.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Teams are gonna try and do that early, but they're
gonna realize they're losing guys and not being able to
push the ball down the field. So I think he
doesn't get double teamed as much as he was last year.
And for that, I think he's gonna have these centers
and these guards on skates pushed him in the backfield,
and then you know what he does after that?

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Do that dance, big boy, do that dance.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
But again, last year he had nine sacks and missed
several games. So nine and a half if he's healthy,
not outside of the question. I'm taking the over. Now,
let's talk offensive side of the ball. Russell Wilson over
under twenty touchdown passes.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Last year he had sixteen.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Touchdown passes again with the Steelers, and again only played
eleven games. Russ over under twenty for Russ.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Well, if he plays the full season, you know, as
you say, because we don't know the number of games.
But if he's healthy and plays the full season, I'm
going over twenty, all right, Matt.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
I just think I'm a believer in Russell Wilson. We've
been there.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
We've spoken about it, Madeline, We've spoken about Obrandon. I
just think that this team is a different team than
it's been in past years. There's a chemistry and a belief,
and I really believe Wilson. He's a leader that I've
never got to know in person. I think he's gonna
have a big impact on that offense.

Speaker 7 (07:07):
Yeah, I'm gonna go over as well. I mean, Madeline,
you mentioned he had sixteen touchdown passes in just eleven
games for the Steers last year. The Steelers were one
of the most run heavy teams in the NFL. They
had an offensive play caller who all he wanted to
do was run the ball. Russell Wilson wasn't even really
given the freedom to, you know, be fully unleashed. I
think Brian Dabeles is gonna give him a little bit

(07:27):
more of that freedom. Even if he doesn't, you know,
start seventeen games, I still think he's gonna top that
twenty touchdown Mark Brandon, I'm with you, guys.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
I'm gonna go on the over on this one because
I'm not gonna put a limit on a guy that's
nicknamed mister unlimited Unlimited, especially when he talks about wanting
to feed elite neighbors So although I think elite neighbors
receiving yards will go down, I think the touchdowns will
go up because he's going to find a way to

(07:56):
be efficient in the red zone and get those targets
to the Theo Johnson and those guys. But I feel
as though he is going to push eleak numbers that
get him the football in the red zone, and those
numbers are going to go up. I'm pushing like twenty
twenty five to thirty range for us.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I'm with you on the over for Russell Wilson because
again last year, sixteen touchdowns in eleven games for a
Steelers offense, it's really reliant on the run. Yes, and
we know how much Brian d Able and Mike Kafka
like to air it out. I don't think they're going
to hesitate to let him send it down the field.
So it's a matter of, you know, do they get
in the end zone, do they have those opportunities, and

(08:35):
also how many games does Russ play, whether it's health
already other factor. But I think, all all things considered,
I'm going to hit the over on Russell Wilson twenty
touchdown passes.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
That seems like a good number. Finally, defense right takeaways.
Takeaways has been a point of emphasis.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
We've seen the turnover chest out there at practice, so
sidetach over or under nineteen takeaways for this Giant's defense,
and as.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
A barometer here last season they had fifteen.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
Yeah, I'm gonna definitely go with the over there. You know,
Shane Bowen brought out the takeaway chess. You know, all
offseason we've been hearing guys when the defense talk about
how you know, be a damn pirate, and I think
we're gonna see a lot of those guys be pirates
this season. I mean Javon Holland and paulse and a Deebo.
They're known for takeaways. So I think those who are
gonna be big additions to the secondary and help significantly

(09:31):
with that takeaway number.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
Russ, Yeah, I have to go with the over.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Listen, we've made you got Abdul Carter, Okay, that's gonna
We're gonna have. I think a lot of fumble recoveries,
much more than we've had in the pass, and I
think the secondary's improved with Holland with a Debo, it
has the number has to be if we were fifteen
last year. I mean, it's got to be what'd you
say the number for us over nineteen. I'm taking over

(09:59):
on I believe it's got to be over.

Speaker 6 (10:01):
It has to be over.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Brandon, Yeah, I'm definitely. I'm with Rust on this one.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
It has to be on the over if this team
is going to be successful and if they're going to
be competitive.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
I love the turnover chests.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
It's just but I think of it, it's still it's
still a show me type business. I love the Mets,
which I love when Grimace was out in the OMG song,
but those were just gimmicks. They had to get it
done at the at bats and that's what this defense
is going to have to do again. Stop the run,
get them in third and long situations, and that back
end that's been upgraded with Javon Holland and Paulsing the deebo.

(10:37):
I feel as though they'll have a lot more interceptions
in the secondary than what they had last year. So
it's over, but it's because it has to be over.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
It has to be over.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
But as we mentioned too last year, when the Giants
were among the bottom tier of the league in terms
of takeaways, and if you don't have the ball, you
can't score with the ball, and the possession is what
nine tenths of the law out here. I do like
that Shane Bowen has said, hey, you get what you
focus on. And with that turnover chest and that pirate mentality,
are you ready to see some more turnovers?

Speaker 5 (11:07):
I think so I'm going to take the over.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
We got a lot of excitement around this season, so
I want to talk about overall season predictions, starting with
a breakout player for the season, who, in your mind,
is going to make the biggest jump from twenty twenty
four to twenty twenty five on this New York Giants roster.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Brandon, I'll start with you.

Speaker 7 (11:30):
I'm gonna go with Theo Johnson.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I just feel as though last year he started to
come on at the right time and then he got injured.
He's been healthy all throughout training camp. He've seen the
chemistry that he and Russ has been able to develop,
and just talking to him, you can see that he's
excited about the plays or the opportunities that Brian Dable

(11:52):
was going to have for him this year. So I'm
excited and I think that THEO is really going to
push and really have a big year this year.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Russ Brandon keeps taking words out of my mouth. I mean,
I'm really excited about THEO. One of my comments early
was what the production we're going to get out of
the tight end group? THEO Johnson, he leads that group.
I'm just gonna throw in one other name, and I
don't even know how much he's going to play, but

(12:20):
I do believe the rookie out of the fourth round,
Cam Scatibo, is going to have a big, big impact
on this team.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
Big am Scataboo, the sun Devil, Let's go.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
I really do. I think he's that kind of guy.

Speaker 7 (12:34):
Yeah, So originally I was gonna go with THEO as well,
but we can't all go with the same guy. So
I'm gonna throw another name out there, and you know,
it might be an interesting name as a breakout player,
but I'm going with Brian Burns. And obviously he's already
proven that he is a fantastic edg rusher, but I
think he's gonna take his game to another level this year.
I think he's going to be an all Pro outside linebacker,

(12:58):
something he has not done at least last year with
the Giants. But he had eight and a half sacks
last year, playing through injuries the entire season, Dexter Lawrence
miss time, cave On Thibodeau miss time. Now all those guys,
at least right now are healthy. I think Brian Burns
is going to show that he is that all pro
ed rusher that the Giants trade to four last year.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
I like it. I like it.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
My player that I'm watching is Tyrone Tracy. And some
people might say, what are you talking about. He had
over a thousand yards from scrimmage in his rookie season
last year. How could he get much better? Yes, he did,
but also he struggled a little bit with the holding
onto the ball.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
You had a little case of the fumbles every once
in a while.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
So I think he's going to clean his game up
and it's only going to get better for Tyrone Tracy.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
And if he want something action on the field, you
better call Tyrone. Put up that. Eric Abadu sing it
all right.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Next topic, here is the most underrated position group going
into the season. Listen, we've hurt a lot of conversation,
especially on the national level and in the micro level
here about certain position groups. A lot of people talking
about that quarterback room. A lot of people talking about
the defense, but I want to know what position group
do you think is being slept on? Side Tek, I'm

(14:07):
going to start with you in this one.

Speaker 7 (14:09):
Yes, So for me, I'm going to go with the
Giants linebackers. You know, we've heard so much for months
now about the defense, but all the talk has been
about the guys up front, the pass rush, and then
the secondary with the new additions, and I feel like
Bobby ocarake and Mikel mcfatten have been just completely slept on.
Bobby o'caak was fantastic in his first season with the

(14:30):
Giants back in twenty twenty three. Last year, you know,
took a little bit of a step back. But I
think now going into year two of Shane Bowen's defense,
both those guys are going to develop into just the
absolute anchors of the middle of the defense. I think
those two are being completely overlooked.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
Russ, this is a tough one.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
I agree with Matt on that I might have said
the linebacker is right away, but I'll do something else.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
I'm going to say the old line we've heard, We
hear all the talk. If Andrew Thomas can't make it
or if it takes time. The old line is in trouble.
It's a domino effect, you know, one falls after the other.
Are they going to stay healthy?

Speaker 4 (15:11):
I believe from what I've seen thus far in camp
and preseason, the old line has looked pretty good. They
haven't looked flawed as they've looked in the past. I
do believe they're taken for granted. I think they're going
to be much better. I'm not gonna say they're a
Pro Bowl line, but I do believe they're going to
be much better than people think they'll be.

Speaker 6 (15:32):
So I'm gonna say the offensive line, all.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
Right, Brandon, from your new location, who's your group.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
That's slept on three different locations on the day.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Would you got on the move like the lea up
over there?

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Hey, you gotta be on the road. You know, Giant's
going the road. I had to go on the road
for this one. But you know, I think it's going
to be I've met.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I loved the pick with the linebackers, but I think
it's going to be the safeties.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
The safety position group.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Now I understand they add to Javon Holland, and you
know what type of quality play that you have there,
But I think people not enough people are talking about
the anticipated second year jump.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
I feel like Tyler Nuben is going to have this year.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Had I known you guys are gonna pick Theo Johnson
as your breakout player, then I would have went to Nuby.
But remember the Giants drafted him in the second round
out of Minnesota because he was a ball hawk. He
went and took the ball, the football away, he didn't
he didn't have any turnovers last year when it came
to like interceptions, but fit you talk to a Javon
Holland and the rest of the secondary, everyone continues to

(16:32):
talk about Nube gets it. Nube has got it, and
Nube all he has to do is apply what he's
learned in the confidence that he has going into his
second season. I think Tyler Nuben is going to have
a breakout season for sure. So this Giants secondary group
is going to be a great group for this team
this season coming up.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
I agree with you, they're not just the safeties, but
the corners as well, because you've got Javon holl in
the addition there at safety, and I know Nuben talked
about how the two of them have a relationship like
brothers already in such a short period of time, plus
the competition that we saw all off season at that
second cornerback spot has really helped elevate the play of
both Cordeil Flat and Deontay Banks. I think there's a

(17:14):
lot of elevated play. Also, just honorable mention throwing the
running backs. You know, you got to get that run
game to be a consistent success, and I think that
they have just added talent with that sun level of cam'
skataboo in there. Of course, I got a shout out
as you every opportunity I get, but I think it's
going to be an exciting group to watch this season
going forward.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
All right, quickly, now bold prediction for the twenty twenty
five New York Football Giants. Give me one sentence of
what your bold prediction is.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Brandon bold prediction is they shocked the world. You know
they have they have consistency at the quarterback position, So
that's going to upgrade this team tremendously when it comes
to not being a three and thirteen team. So I
think that this team is out for and they're going
to shock the world.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Brandon's prediction that is bold is that the Giants are
not three and thirteen.

Speaker 5 (18:05):
All right, Russ, what is your prediction that's bold?

Speaker 4 (18:09):
My prediction is this something that hasn't been the case
for a while. The Giants are going to be playing
meaningful games right until the last game of the season,
right until the last game of the season. So if
I got to give you a number, I'm gonna say
nine to eight. I just think they're going to be

(18:29):
playing meaningful games right till the end of the season.
And like when Brandon says, shock the world, I won''t
be surprised if that happens. I think this is a
good football team. The only reason I'm holding my breath
because we've learned about it too many times these past
few seasons. You keep your fingers crossed regarding the injuries
because there's no you can't do anything about that. That's

(18:52):
just something that we have to deal with. But I
think we've got some depth now, we're safe at the
quarterback position. So nine and eight and I all agree
with Brandon Shock in the world.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Nine and eight. Hey, the vibes are strong. Sidetek, what's
your bold prediction for the twenty twenty five Giants?

Speaker 7 (19:07):
Yeah, I don't know exactly how bold this is, but
I'm going to go with Elik Neighbors wins Offensive Player
of the Year. I think he was phenomenal as a
rookie last year, as we all know, and he did
that with let's just call it, not the most consistent
quarterback play. Now with Russell Wilson under center, that they're
just going to get such elevated play from the quarterback position.

(19:29):
I think the sky is the limit for Molik Neighbors.
Russ has been raving about him since the second he
stepped inside this building. I think we're going to see
a year two breakout, which is really saying something considering
he broke out as a rookie last year.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
I'm here for it. My bold prediction. The New York
Football Giants are going to the playoffs. That is my
bold prediction for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
And why you may ask, that's kind of out of
a hat.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Well, the preseason, which a lot of people say doesn't
really mean a whole lot, the Giants had a plus
sixty point differential and seven of the or six of
the last seven teams. There's the eighth team to do
that since two thousand and nine. Six of the last
seven teams to have a point differential that large in
the preseason have gone on to go to the playoffs.
Two of those teams went to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (20:14):
So anything is possible. Anything is possible.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Things are working, the machine is going. If everyone can
stay healthy, I think the course is set to great
things shock the world. I think is the consistent theme
for all of us here though.

Speaker 5 (20:28):
For the Bold Prediction.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Now it starts with Week one and the Giants are
headed to the Nation's capital to play the Commanders. Giants
Commanders has always been a very closely contested battle. Last season,
I think we remember the most memorable game was when
Graham Gono goes down the first play of the game.
The Giants don't have a kicker. The Commanders beat the
Giants solely on field goals, just showing off that they

(20:50):
do have a kicker. But when we're looking at Week
one and we're looking at this game overall, Sidetech, what
storyline and what narrative are you focused on for Week
one one?

Speaker 7 (21:00):
For me, the biggest thing I'm going to be focusing
on is the Giants pass rush versus the Commander's offensive line,
because obviously you know, we've spoken so much and heard
so much about the ed Rushers and the defensive line
with Decks Burns, Cavon Abdul Carter Well. The Commanders went
out and upgraded both offensive tackle positions. They traded for
Laramie Tunsel, who's one of the best tackles in the league.

(21:22):
They drafted Josh Connerley in the first round. Those are
their two starting tackles. So the Giants ed Rushers, They're
gonna have a very tough matchup in this Week one game.
And obviously Jaden Daniels provides his own, you know, tough
matchup with the ability to run. So I'm interested to
see how this defensive front matches up against this Commander's
O line and the dual threat ability of Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
Well and Russ.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
When you look at this matchup, this is, you know,
Russell Wilson's first start as a Giants quarterback. What are
you expecting from him in this one?

Speaker 4 (21:54):
I think Russell Wilson is going to get out there
with the enthusiasm of a rookie, and I mean that
as a guy who can't wait to play. This is
a new team for him, this is the new season
and I'll tell you what I believe. I'm gonna go
in line kind of like what Matt said before. He's
calling for Malik to be the offensive player of the year. Well,

(22:16):
I think he starts to show that in Week one,
and I think he's going to be on the receiving
end of the guy we're just talking about, Russell Wilson.
I just think that this Giant team is ready to
rock and roll. You know what we hear all off season,
Oh my goodness, gracious, this is a killer, killer schedule.
They'll be lucky if they can win one of the

(22:38):
out of the first four games. Well, I don't buy
that at all. I think they're going to be very
solid coming out of the gate. And I think it
starts on the road and it gets followed on the
road next week in the week after in Dallas.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Any game is winnable. That's why you play the game,
right Brandon.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
When you're looking at this one Giants commanders, obviously he's
the division games, it's an important one to start the season.
But you know, the Commander's a lot of topics or
storyline about this team in the offseason, about getting Terry
McLaurin short up all that they did clean that up,
but their offense does look different this year than it
did last year.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
What are your expectations.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
My expectation is that Kavon Thibeau is gonna come out firing.
You know, you look at the success that he's had
against the Commanders. You look at the offseason he's had
his social media. He was wrestling and not even WWE
type wrestling. I'm talking Kurt Angle Olympic gold medal type
wrestling in order to improve his game. So when we
talk about when you talk about that pass rush up

(23:36):
against Jade and Daniels, I'm gonna just take it back
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
And as a wide receiver, I can't.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Believe I'm saying is I am going to watch how
these pass rushers, edge rushers and defensive line try and
stop the run. Jayden Daniels is so great with this
arm and being a dual threat. But when you talked
about last year Week two medaling that you did that game,
you mentioned Brian Robinson who's now with the forty nine
ers have five runs of over ten plus yards. You're

(24:03):
not going to be able to pass rush. You're not
gonna put yourself in position where we can really see
what this shiny new toy that we got for Christmas
looks like in these edge rushers as a whole, that
NASCAR package is going to be in the garage if
they can't stop the run. So I am really excited
to see if the Giants defense, they're very sexy when

(24:25):
it comes to the pass rush and the edge rushers,
if they're gonna get real nasty, take that nasty pill
and stop the run and make Jayden Dames throw the football.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
All right, I'm here for it.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Hey, listen, Giants Commanders Week one must watch. Why because
is the first game of the season. It's the most
important game because it's the next game. But it's also
a game with a lot of history, a lot of narrative,
a lot of storylines around it, and maybe a little
bit of trivia.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Russ, I know you got some trivia for us on
this one. What's going on?

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (24:53):
This is for all of you guys.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
All right, let's see, and no, put your phones down.
We don't want anybody cheating. Now, Okay, I got five players.
I want me to you to name five players that
made Pro Bowls playing for the Giants that later went
on to play for Washington. Five players made Pro Bowls
as Giants later went on to play for Washington.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
Carl Banks.

Speaker 6 (25:19):
That's one, Jesse Armstead, that's two.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Antonio Pierce. Nope, oh, man.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Did we get a position?

Speaker 7 (25:32):
Hit?

Speaker 6 (25:36):
All defense?

Speaker 4 (25:37):
All?

Speaker 5 (25:37):
All five are defensive players.

Speaker 6 (25:39):
All five defensive players. You know what? Somebody just mentioned
Antonio Pearis. But Antonio came.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
After he's with Washington first. All right, that's an honorable
mention on the list. But yeah, I cannot.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Okay, so are you've named two Banks and Jesse? If
you need any more time, I'll go take my car
for a car wash and come back while you guys
think about it.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
So you know we don't have all days.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
More hints here, rus all right?

Speaker 4 (26:14):
One one is an all time great who played in
the greatest game.

Speaker 6 (26:21):
Ever played in the fifties, a defensive player, and.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
There was there was a story. There was a show
about him in nineteen sixty called The Violent World of.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Man. I'm disappointed at us that God is watching this show.
I can just see it. Oh yeah, you guys need
to watch more chronicles.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
He's screaming. That guy is Sam Huff.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Oh, okay, Sam Huff.

Speaker 6 (26:51):
That guy is Sam Huff. Certainly.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
So far we've got Carl Banks, Jesse Armstead, Sam huff Okay.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
The other guy, I'll give you another hint. He played
on the first and second Super Bowl with call Banks,
a defensive player.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeh man, eighties nineties.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
Goodness, I mean who the corners, don lt not.

Speaker 6 (27:24):
He's in the Giants Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
It's in the Giants Fame.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Oh man, My Giants card has been declined right now?

Speaker 6 (27:36):
All right, all right?

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Leonard Marshall, Okay, okay, Leonard Marshall. And last, but not least.
And actually when I was given this, we went over
with Pearson. It was initially four players, and honest to god,
I'm laying in bed at five point thirty in the
morning thinking about this.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
I says, wait a minute, we forgot this guy. So
he verified it. Okay, other guy at defensive back.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Landon Collins, Ingo, y, yeah, right, you're right.

Speaker 7 (28:12):
One for us.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Landon Collins was our like our colleague Brandon and I
worked with him. Yeah, I thought before side Ted got here,
what was our colleague Russ?

Speaker 5 (28:23):
We were all right, that's good, all right.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
So Carl Banks, Jesse Armstead, Sam Huff, Landon Collins, Elizabeth
Anna Marshall. All right, the five players that were Pro
bowlers with the New York Giants that later went on
to play with the Commanders.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
Love that for us.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
A lot of history, a lot of Venn Diagram between
these two teams. And all right, well we got the
football history out of the way. Now let's have a
little fun with it, because we're gonna do some blind
rankings of buildings and monuments in.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
The nation's capital.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Because I know the first thing that comes to mind
when you think of Washing ten is all the statues
and all the buildings. All right, So what we're gonna
do blind rankings. For those of you that don't know
how it works. I'm gonna say a place, a statue
of building. You're gonna give me a number one through five.
Where does it rank? Is it number one? The best,
number five? The worst of this list? Not knowing what

(29:18):
other monuments or buildings are coming ready, all right, starting with.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
The capital, one or five?

Speaker 3 (29:30):
It's four?

Speaker 5 (29:33):
Who said four?

Speaker 2 (29:34):
I said four? I go four for me, brand I
have a feeling what's coming up.

Speaker 7 (29:39):
I was gonna say four as well?

Speaker 6 (29:40):
Me do I'm going four? Also?

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Okay, the board, so everyone has four across the board.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
All right, the Albert Einstein Memorial.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
Five five you're talking about that's ranked the one would
be the top.

Speaker 6 (30:02):
Right, correct, Yeah, yeah, Albert.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
I don't hear too many people talking about the Albert
Einstein Memorial.

Speaker 7 (30:09):
I gotta go five as well.

Speaker 5 (30:12):
Washington Monument.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
Number one, side, got it, one, it's gotta be number one.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
I'm gonna say two.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
I'll go five on this one, like.

Speaker 6 (30:27):
Two, two, yeah, okay, five.

Speaker 7 (30:30):
I feel like it's one of the most significant monuments
in our country.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
Washington Monument as five.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Yeah, why would you not want to go see Albert
the Albert Einstein Nobody is.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Nobody's contesting your desire to see Albert Einstein. But like
doesn't mean Washington Monument is five.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
But you can do more at the Albert Einstein Museum.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
Oh so, now we're getting it the interactive stuff for crime. See,
that's what happens when you have a young child, see
starts thinking differently.

Speaker 6 (31:02):
That's what the problem.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Is and price right, okay, uh, the Smithsonian go.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Three, three, three, three, all.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
Right, threes across the board, and now by default, the
Lincoln Memorial one.

Speaker 6 (31:23):
That's what I was waiting for.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
Two for me because that's all I have left, and
I'll get to be fine with that.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
I have one, but I wish I could swap my
two in one.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
This is why it is blind rankings branded.

Speaker 7 (31:36):
It's too late.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
It's too late. All of these are going to be
great things to see.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
So if you're headed out to the game, cruise around
the Capitol, go see the National Mall, see all of
the buildings and monuments at Washington d C has to offer.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
That's a wrap for our hangout. As much fun as
this has been, we're gonna do it again next week.
We'll clean it up, we'll figure it out. Listen. We're
not in mid season form yet. This is week one.
We're still getting the kinks out.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
We're running the show a little bit differently this time,
but it's a lot of fun and Giants commanders leave
us with the score prediction anyone.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
Yeah, I will. I'm gonna say thirty one twenty Giants.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
Keeping the thirty point streak alive.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
The Giants had over thirty points in each of their
three preseason games.

Speaker 5 (32:25):
RUSS has a rolling on thirty one twenty New York Giants.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
Will see how it goes one pm Sunday at Washington.
Giants commanders, make sure to check out postgame show. Make
sure to check out radio content. We've got all sorts
of stuff going on on giants dot Com. But that's
a wrap for Week one. Giants Hangouts presented by Crestroant
for Brandon London, Russ Salzburg and Matt Sytek and Madeleine
Burgle'll see next time.
