Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time to get inside the Giants.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
Let's giants out on the Giants bubbling, give me some
join part of the Giants podcast Network, Let's roll.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Welcome to another edition of the Giants Little Podcast, The
Baldies Breakdown Edition, brought to you by citizens Official Bank
of the Giants. I'm coming to you live from the
Hackensack and Marine Hill Podcast. Do you Keep Getting Better?
Joined by the one and only Brian Boldinger. This is
not NFL Films. You're at Baldy. Are you on the
West Coast? Where you're at?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (00:27):
I did the Rams game yesterday, Rams Colt, So I'm
here at the NFL Network.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
So I'm over here up on the third floor.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Got an office over here, so I was just breaking
everything down over here today. But yeah, I'm out here
on the West Coast. But I felt like, honestly, John
that I could feel the energy of MetLife Stadium all
the way here just watching that and seeing the opening
drive and the whole thing. I mean, it was what
fans have been craving for a long.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Time, all right, So let's not bury the bury the
lead here, and that's Jackson Dart and the way I
kind of referred to a match to the game yesterday. Baldy,
he was a playmaker, right whatever he needed to do,
whether it was running the ball, scrambling, stepping up in
the pocket and then completing a pass, this little rollout
where he kind of told Darius Layton come back to
the ball. He completes that pass. You know, there wasn't
(01:11):
a ton of exactly not a ton of you know,
drop back foot lands, ball out quickly, but that was
okay as a rookie.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
He's gonna get better at that.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
But he just made enough plays, especially on big spots
on third downs, for the Giants to score enough points
to win this game.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
He uh, he plays with a great deal of awareness.
He didn't turn the ball over John. You know, this
is a team that had been taking the ball away.
He didn't give him anything. And the opening drive was
just perfection. But it was a mix of Okay, he's
a very good runner. He's not a guy that's just
like maybe he's too aggressive. Maybe that has to sort
(01:48):
of change a little bit. But you know, the touchdown
run and the lead block by Scataboo, and you know,
to finishing that drive, I just thought, you know, when
he had to throw the ball over the middle, you know,
whether it was to Fiel or to neighbors. When he
was healthy, he stepped up and made those throws. And
he doesn't lack confidence for making those dangerous throws in
(02:09):
the middle of the field against a very talented defense.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
And look, we talked about on our pregame show with
Tiki Barber, who does our pregames with this over here, Baldy.
And look, we tried to be very clear with giant fans,
this quarterback is not going to come in here, especially
your rookie and be er savior. Right, You're gonna have
to support him. And you brought it up on that
first drive. On that first drive ball he went down and.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
They drove it. You know, I think it was seventy
five yards on nine plays.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Nine yards.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, and he had two completions for twenty one yards.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Do you know what, cam Scatta, who ran the hell
out of the football, Jackson Dart ran the hell out
of the football.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
They gave him the help he needed so he could succeed.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Not just that, but I felt like he energized not
just the crept, the whole team. I felt the whole
team was pulling for him. And you know, they hadn't
had a.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Lead like that.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
They got the lead, obviously, the defense fed off all
that all day long. That's a team that has come
back against Denver. They had come back against you know,
I mean they'd had comebacks to get to three and
zero and that never happened. But I felt like he
he did. You know, he just willed it, you know,
with his with his scrambling ability, the design and the
(03:16):
mix of designed runs, it's it. It becomes extremely difficult
to defend teams when your quarterback is.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
A good runner. You have to count for all of it.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
And the Chargers they've got a very good defense, but
they had trouble accounting for him in his scrambles and
even like even the shovel passed the theel for the touchdown,
Like the attention of detail on the fake just to
draw enough guys out and then to you don't just
do that.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
You've got to practice that.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
You've got to that's something you got to work at
to make it look so so like he's been doing
it a long time, and you know he's hasn't gotten
a lot of reps. But I thought the attention to
detail with some of his playfakes in the run game
were really good.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
And then Baldy the competitiveness and the toughness, right, you know,
he heard his hamstring in the middle of this game,
and you know he was holding on the sideline. They
did not run nearly as much, if any zone read
in the second half of this game, I think, because
of that injury. But he still scrammled when he had to,
He ran when he had to, even though you could
tell he was not as healthy as he was in
(04:19):
the first half of this game.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Well he had you know, he.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Had the long run that got called back because of
the penalty. Mean, he's going to get almost one hundred
yards rushing if that doesn't get called back. But yeah,
I mean we saw him grab the hamstring, We saw
Russell go in there, and you know he wasn't happy
with all of it, but he played through it.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
He played through it, and.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
You know, to to come out with the victory against
that team the way they were playing, they couldn't have
done it without his just his overall toughness and body.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
I told the people, and you were texting me last Friday,
I was in the middle of hosting people with Kickoff
and I told the people. What you told me over
text that this Chargers defensive front, specifically their tackles, had
been playing as well as any group in the lead league.
And you know, the Giants, let's be honest, the interior
of the offensive line had struggled at points this year.
All across, all three guys have had their games, and
they did not play well. I thought they did a
(05:10):
heck of a job in this game, in both the
past game and the run game.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, I mean, look two with Ploto got you know,
he got, he got his share sacks, and you know,
he took probably more sacks than anybody and any quarterback
wants to take. But outside of that, I thought they
neutralized the guys Tierre Tart.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
And you know, Caldwell, you're called well.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I mean, there's a good group in there, and they
made some plays on short yardage and you know they
stuffed them one time, you know, on the fourth down.
But I thought, overall, I thought they they handled that
group pretty good.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Upfront.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Hey, look in Dart, you know he took five sacks, right,
But I think in five or six weeks, Bald these
he starts figuring this stuff out Of the two or
three of those sacks he's not gonna take.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
He's gonna know to get the ball out.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
You know, he had a couple of those naked boots
where instead of just dumping it off to Wan Dal,
he held the ball and he got sacked.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
That's the stuff a rookie quarterback. I think it's going
to figure out.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I do too.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
I think he's going to be a fast learner. And
I think he won this. You know, he wants this position.
I don't think it's too big. You know, you know, nobody,
nobody could have predicted this victory yesterday, but it was
a total team victory and he's a big part of it.
And going forward now that he's going to get the
reps and the attention and there he is Texan daybole,
(06:18):
you know late at night, you know about red.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Zone offense, Well maybe that worked.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
You know, like he's been tireless to begin with.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
He's done everything right.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Everybody that been in that buildings like you have Johnson's beginning,
he's he's you know, you got to put the work in,
and you know he's going to put the work in.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
And you know that it's going to transfer at some point.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, no question about it. I'm with you one hundred
percent on that. And you know I mentioned the run game, Baldi.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Yeah, it was only thirty two carries for one hundred
and seven yards for the running backs in this game.
But Dabe said it on Monday at his little you
know Zoom conference call, the volume of runs, yeah can
help a young quarterback, right.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Yeah, and motor too, like your Scatabooths. But but Motor
gave you a couple of good runs, and the number
of runs are important. You can't just let your quarterback
drop back against these defenses. The defenses are too talented.
They've got too many playmakers on the chargers side of
the ball. Like you've got to bounce it up. You
got to take some of the pressure off the quarterback.
(07:19):
And the way you do it is by handing off.
And we saw the toughness of Scataboo. We saw the
blocking of Scataboo, the pass protection, the overall toughness of
that position. You can't state it any more clearly than
what they provided and how they helped the quarterback out yesterday.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
All right, and I we'll get to neighbors at the
end of the podcast. I want to talk to you
about that. Anything else on dart or the offense you
want to hit before we shift over to the defense.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
I just think, look, I mean the fact that he
didn't turn the ball over and you know, he's running
through that defense and you know, and he's he's getting
hit and he's getting sacked, and he didn't put the
ball on the ground and lose anything. They didn't give
them any easy possessions, you know. I think that was,
you know, really important because obviously the defense did their job.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
How to get in here? If you're lined up here,
you gotta go over the middle with at the score.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Great, How do we make that happen?
Speaker 1 (08:15):
I don't know, but citizen does?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
It makes sense of your money with citizens Official Bank
of Eli Manning, No, I.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Think that's one hundred percent right.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Want to ask you about the red zone real quick,
Baldy two to five better, but not where you want
it to be. In terms of scoring touchdowns, they had
that tough fall start first and goal at the three
that put them back at the eight.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
They didn't score a touchdown on that drive. They kick
a field goal.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
What are some of the things you like to see
from either what they're doing schematically, play calling, execution. How
can they get better in the red zone, which you
know they're going to have to if they want to
keep winning games.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Well, I feel like when you get down to the three,
I think there's a lot of things schematically you can do.
I saw the Eagles go three for three in the
red zone yesday. They're all different plays, all different style
of plays, shovel pass, you know, a quad look. I mean,
there's just things you could do from a formation standpoint
(09:11):
where you're trying to get a numbers advantage and not
just trying to move a brick wall in front of
you where everybody's just diving into the gaps and there
is no room right there. So I do think there's
things you can do with the quarterback, whether it's pitch options,
using him in the run game, using him as a
decoy in the run game. I just think there's things
(09:32):
that you have to really look around the league and
see how some teams are more successful than others than
just trying to okay, well we're gonna run behind you know,
John Runyon and you know Andrew Thomas, Like sometimes you
can have good players, but you've got to find different
ways to do it. And I think that's that that
appetite to try to be successful in that area the field,
(09:54):
especially when you get it.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
You know, after Dexter's interception return, you have to three.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
You've got to you've got to turn around and go
to it. And you know, I remember asking Kurt Warner
about red zone offense one time. He goes, you know,
he goes, Well, you can design all the red zone
offense you want sometimes, but you know, if you've got
Larry Fitzgerald in acorn bolt and sometimes it's good just
to throw it up and let them guys go get
it now, they might not be able to do that
right now. So you know, I think that there's a
(10:20):
lot of a lot of schematics that you can employ
here to be more successful than two for five.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
You mentioned Andrew Thomas. It's funny, since he never does
anything wrong, you tend not to mention him and you
forget how good he is until you get through the
tape and you're like, wow, I didn't see one miss
block on the run game. He didn't give him one
pressure of the whole game. He was spectacular, just absolutely shut.
But like Bud Dupree, you didn't even notice him in
the game because of the job that Andrew Thomas.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Did, well, that's what you hope that's what you hope for,
is that your name never gets called. And maybe it's
somebody like me, you know, just pointed out in some
breakdowns or something of just about consistent he is.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
That's what you want.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
You want your left tackle to be that consistent that
you know, no penalties, you know, consistent in pass protection,
protecting the backside of your.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Rookie quarterback in the run game, doing what you gotta do.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
And so that's one of those games where you could
give him a game ball and nobody's ever mentioned his.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Name, absolutely right. Johnson Too.

Slash Giants joined by Brian Baldinger and Baldi. Even though
Jackson dark's the top story to me, it was the
Giants defense that won this game.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
They had two takeaways. Giants finished plus two.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
We kind of referenced the plays already did Drew Phillips
interception and the Dexter Lawrence interception that gave the Giants
drive starting at the Chargers three yard line. So you
could take ten points and put them into the Giants
defense column in this game because they put the Giants
in position to score those points. And we talked after
the Dallas game about how we thought the pass rush
(12:01):
was good, but it failed to take over a game
when the Cowboys had to throw at the end of
that contest. Well, I felt like the Giants pass rush
took over this game when Justin Herbert had to throw
the ball with the Giants up two scores for a
decent part of this game.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
They did.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
And look, I mean they lost Joe All early in
the game. I mean that's that's a factor. So and
they lost the right guard and they lost. I mean,
it doesn't matter. Justin Herbert had brought that team back
with a lot of backups in the offensive line in
the first three weeks of the season and he couldn't
do it. And they had plenty of they had opportunities
in the fourth quarter to win that game. And Burnsey
(12:38):
and Cavon and Abdul and Dexter, they played so well together.
The twist stunts that they were running, they were getting home.
They hit they hit Herbert twelve times. He hadn't be
hit twelve times in a game, and I don't know
how long. And they affected him, you know, And it
wasn't about the number of sacks, but they moved them,
and they moved them, and they hit them, and they
forced a lot of incompletions and throwaways. And I thought
(13:00):
it was Dexter's best game, not just because the interception,
but I thought it was his best game.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
They got what they needed from him with a push
in the middle.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
The twist stunts have been fantastic, and Burnsey is just
you know, because Kavon and Abdulla giving them really good rushes.
They can do a lot of things with them. They
can drop them into coverage, you know, they can play
met linebacker, they can spy with them. And so I thought,
you know, he's been their best defensive player all year.
He had a tremendous month of September. But now you're
(13:28):
seeing the contributions of everybody else and Abdul's ability to
win one on ones, whether it is off twist stunts
or just one on one.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Right now, you see.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
The talent that he has and how quickly whether it's
a spin or rip like he's got the movement that
you need to flush your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, I thought they use more of those games and
twist and stunts than we seen him use it in any
game this year. And that was the game, the play
that closed the game, Baldy And you know, Jamari Salier
is a right guard for the Chargers. He understand that
we saw is concerned with Dexter Lawrence who's lined up
in front of him, you know, and they run a
te twist and he's following Dexter Lawrence. Brian Burns is
(14:07):
it's a no hitter. No one even puts a hand
on him as he runs into the back. And the
thing about Burns Tubaldi, when he gets near a quarterback,
he's so long and athletic. You see quarterbacks sometimes avoid pressure.
Very rarely does Brian Burns fail to finish one of
those sacks.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah, No, he closes.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
He closes so well, and he truly is spider man like,
he's just arms and legs and he's just out there.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
But when he gets when there's a position.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Where the quarterback okay is getting ready to throw, and
he gets a chance to close that gap to get
that hit to effect the throw like he doesn't miss,
and it's the best football that he has played in
his career right now. I mean this is better than
any point in Carolina. He's been a Pro Bowl player,
but he's playing at a different level right now. And
it's the other guys around him too, But he's just
(14:52):
playing like he is really locked in in all phases
of the game right now.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
He also had the hit right after her had to
throw that ball that got picked off by Phillips.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
He was pressuring the quarterback on that too.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
And you know, it shows why sacks is not It's
an important stat because it does dictate, you know, success
and wins and losses, but it doesn't necessarily indicate how
effective a player was. You mentioned the quarterback pressures and
quarterback hits. Am Duel Carter zero sacks, but that dude
was all over the place. You know, that poor backup
left tackle on the left side, Declas had to try
to block him that one speed rush he had Bald
(15:25):
he just gets around him dips. I'm not even sure
Decla's got a hand on him on the play. And
then those other twists and stunts you saw, and look
they to use him as an off ball linebacker a
lot last week. They weren't happy about it, but they
had to because of Darius Mussau's injury. They got him
back on the edge and around the line of scrimmage
this week on the line and you saw it.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
You just can't block that guy.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Well, you know I always say that. You know, if
you want to win the hundred meter dash, you got
to have a great takeoff. You gotta have a great start.
And when he gets a great start, I don't care
if it's Joe Walt, I don't care who it is
out there right now, Like he's going to have a
chance to win out the play that you're talking about
against Dulous, I mean he didn't. He got him turned
right away. He didn't get a hand on him, and
he turned. You know, he turned that corner. And that's
(16:09):
those type of guys are rare. That's why you have
to get him at the top of the draft.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
If you want to know how to manage two minutes
of crunch time football, I'm your man.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
But if you're wondering about a long term financial plan,
you should talk to citizens.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Hey, I can also talk long care. I'd like to
learn about a million routine. Yes, I knew I could
help make sense of your money with citizens.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
No question about it, and go back to the secondary
play for a second. On that same Burns play we
talked about to help close the game. That's why you
have a good pass Rushbaldi, because when you look at
the whole twenty two, you see Lad McConkie run into
Deontay Banks and Quentin Johnson has no one within twenty
five yards of him running a deep over route that
(16:50):
if that's not a touchdown, he's going to get tackled
by Howland inside.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
The ten yard line.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
And that was literally a game saving sack because if
Herbert has maybe what a second more, that ball's out
half a second more and that could be a touchdown
for Quentin Johnson.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Well, the offense had completely changed this year because of
Quinton Johnston's ability to finish those plays. He had a
sixty yard touchdown the second game of the season against
the Raiders that they couldn't stop. He's been the difference banker.
Now Lad mccackay have some you know, he had a
couple drops that are a little unconventional for him, but
it doesn't matter. You know, they made the drop and
(17:29):
you could see that you know, Herbert had been showing
tremendous toughness and he'd been really good at extending plays
this year and running. He'd become a much better runner,
and they took that away from him yesterday.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yeah, he had that one twenty four yard rush. I
think it was on a third and nineteen early in
the game. Something like that went by the way, tip
your captain, Marion Hampton. He took out two guys on
the block on that play. Great play and to see
a running back like him in the same game, Baldy
basically if a pulse of a debo who was not
a small man on his back carry him ten yards
(18:03):
and then a few plays later he's running away from
defensive backs for a fifty yard touchdown. That dude has
some traits. I don't know why the Chargers didn't run
him more. To be totally honest with you, he's going
to be a heck of a player.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Well, that was his best game, but he'd been coming
on and in the receiving game, he catches everything.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
He catches everything.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
He's got great hands and he's unbelievable you know after contact,
and so you know, the touchdown run, you know, got
him back in the game. But that was you know,
that's just a great individual play. I mean, you want
to get that guy to the ground, buddy. You could
tell like he's a difficult guy to get to the ground.
I mean, that's that's why it was a first round pick.
And guys don't want to spend first round picks some
running backs, but some guys are just difference makers, and
(18:43):
that's who he is.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
I'm going to go to the play at the end
of the half, Baldy, because I think this is some
of the Giants will have to clean up. They still
have allowed too many big plays when you can't afford
to allow big plays. Deontay Banks gets beat on a
double move Dame Belton. It looks like cover one to me,
but it's almost like a split safety look. So I
think Belton just has deep responsibility on that side, which
again I don't know the play call, but if that's
(19:05):
the case, you tell me what you think. Belton's got
to get over the top on that and he can't
let that pass get in there. But at the same time,
in that situation, I don't think Banks can bite on
that stutter go either, because you know, the Chargers need
a deep ball and.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
You want to keep everything in front of you at
that point exactly.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Well, I mean, you're not gonna the chance of biting
on that and intercepting it or break, like just keep
it in front of you, like make the tackle the catch.
That's what you want to do. You just want to
tackle the catch at that point. For both of those
guys to not be able to make that play, that's
that's unfortunate, but that's you got to I mean, you
got to put that play up there today and you
(19:41):
got to show it to him. You got to make
sure they understand situational football and where.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
They're at in the game.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah, absolutely right, I'm with you. Anything else in the
defense you want to hit before we touch on neighbors?
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
I just thought that, you know, I thought, Shane really,
you know, really called a good game though, you know,
against this team that has because the offense had changed
with the Chargers, they really bounced things up.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
They were bo Schambleucker's offense all year. Last year.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
They wanted to just control the line of scrimmage, but
they had opened it up, especially with getting Keenan Allen
back and the year that Ladd has and now you know,
Quinton coming on like that is a dangerous offense. And
they didn't give up a lot of big pass plays
in that game.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
And that's that's a.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Credit because that guy, that quarterback can throw it deep
as well as anybody in this business.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Yeah, absolutely, nice, nice job by the defense, all right. Now,
of course, Baldy, even when good things happened for the Giants,
that should be a joyous day Jackson Dart the new
era begins, first win for him. The Giants lose the
guy you could argue as their best player, certainly their
best offensive player in the league, Neighbors. It was confirmed
today he tore his ACL. He's gonna miss the remainder
of the season. I don't think you can overstate the
(20:52):
impact of a loss like this on an offense. What
are the Giants do now moving forward? You can't replace them?
How do you survive without them?
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Well, I mean, you know, just to play itself.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
I mean I just think, you know, Uh, Jackson saw
a free play, you know, it's off sides. I think
he saw it and he just you know, I'll take
the deep shot, you know, and it just came down wrong.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
It's only Baldy can the Giants on a free play,
a free play, have something bad happened to them, It's amazing.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
But what you don't want, though, honestly, John is like,
here we go, Here we go again, where the giant.
You can't like, we saw Saquon go down, you know,
you know, early in the year, a couple of years ago,
and you can't just we've seen Andrew Thomas, you know
on an opening kickoff block kick Terra's hamstring, you know,
like you just can't say, here we go, Like there's
(21:38):
opportunities now for Wandale for you know, I think there
was questions why Slaton is even here. We haven't seen
anything from Jalen Hyatt. Like it's going to give an
opportunity for other players to step up. Maybe the tight
ends become a bigger role. We don't really know, but
somebody's got to fill help fill that void. Nobody's going
to be elite neighbors. There is no elite neighbors on
(21:59):
the roster. But it's gonna have to be cobbled together
by the whole group and the quarterback play and maybe
the running game gets picked up a little bit, and
so there's gonna have to do it a different way.
You can't say, Okay, third down, go to Melitue. I
don't care what they bracket man, best corner, whatever, like,
They're gonna have to find other ways to move the football.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Then just to rely on elite neighbors.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
And it may take all of the roster to do it,
but that's the coaches got to be better. The opportunities
that are gonna present themselves to other players, they got
to take advantage of it. You know, that's the catch
by Slayton on third down yesterday. It was a big play,
you know, coming back, and so those guys have to
step up.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
And look, you mentioned Hyde and Slayton.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
I'll throw a Bull Collins in there, and Undet the
rookie free agent they kept on the roster. Maybe a
little Jordan Humphrey gets called up from the practice squad.
He's been a guy that's had success in this league.
So you're right, it's gonna be a team effort. How now, Baldy,
does his loss impact how you're I mean, maybe how
you're coaching up Jackson Dart is maybe the wrong way
to put it, but how he has to operate with that?
That true number one? And does it impact your ability
(23:08):
now to evaluate him over the next thirteen games.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
I hope not. I hope not.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
I mean yes, Like I'm I'm out here watching the
Rams yesterday and Stafford and Nikua is what you hope
a quarterback, a great quarterback and receiver, the relationship you
have where it's third down, I know he's gonna win.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
I'm gonna get it to him.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
And you could do that with Believe, and so the
evaluation is going to be different, but maybe it's in
some ways it's going to speed up the process because
he's not going to have the reliable thing. He's gonna
have to go through progressions. He's gonna have to find
the open guy. Knowing that this guy who wins just
on the jump balls alone, where you have that ability
(23:47):
just to throw it up and let him go get
it the way that he's done for the first twenty
games of his career, Like you hope that it's going
to take him and make him go through progressions even
fatter and be able to find the open guy. And
he's gonna have to his eyes and feet and his
(24:07):
mechanics are gonna have to be better.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Even better, all right, Baldy, I must admit they have
not played a national game yet, and they've been on
i think at the same time as the Giants a
lot of the games this year, except when the Giants
played on Sunday night. I have not watched a second
of New Orleans Saints football this year. So give me
a little thumbnail on what the Giants are running into
when they play the Saints next week.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Well, I'll tell you.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
I mean, they took Buffalo into the fourth quarter yesterday
like they were tow for toe with Buffalo. All right,
if you watch him against Arizona, They've got the ball
to Juwan Johnson the tight end in the end zone
to tie the game up, and Baker a Buddha Baker
makes a play to.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Get the ball out.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
They have been right except for one game where they
got blown out. The three other games have been highly competitive.
Alvin Kamara looks like the Camara that were used to
seeing like he's back to looking really good. They've got
a a talented offensive line. They got two number one
picks at the tackle position. They're pretty healthy upfront. Kellimore
is a great play caller. Yesterday, they played really good
(25:11):
defense yesterday for the most part. Now, Josh Allen made
some plays late in the game to kind of open
it up. But that was a two point game into
the fourth quarter yesterday. Like they I saw him in
training camp, John and I thought I saw one hundred
and twenty six play scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
I didn't see anybody bitch or complain. One hundred and
twenty six played full, full scale scrimmage, two games of
one hundred and twenty six plays. They wanted conditioning, they
wanted tempo and Spencer Rattler who won the job. He's been,
he's been.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
He's just been a fighter out there, you know, and
and fight for everything, like they don't give you.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Anything, all right.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
So it'll be a tough game for the Giants in
that building where I know the Saints have not won
a lot of games over the past couple of years,
but it's a very difficult place to play. And who knows,
maybe you know, if they're gonna go Tyler shuk at
some point here or maybe not. We'll see, but if
they try to get a spark the way with the
Giants did this week, but it'll be Giants and Saints
coming up next week. Baldy, anything you're doing, you're up
to that you want the folks to check out. By
(26:11):
the way, I've been enjoying your spots on the Move
the Sticks podcast every Monday with DJ and Bucky.
Speaker 4 (26:17):

We'll finish up tomorrow.
