Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time to get inside the Giants huts. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Let's Giants bubbling, give me some job.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Part of the Giants podcast Network.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Let's roll. Welcome to another edition of the Giants Suttle Podcast,
presented by Citizens, the Official Bank of the Giants. I
am John Schmelk. We're joined by one of the men
that run and report for Giants Insider, Chris Busy. Not
Oh Chris, how are you man?
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good John? How you doing?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Thanks for joining us in the Hackensack and Britney Health podcast.
You'll keep getting better. Uh, Chris. We're kind of at
the end of OTAs here, just a level set for everybody.
We're recording this on Thursday afternoon, so there's one more
OTA on Friday that's not open to the media. This
is gonna Aaron Monday. So I figured this would be
a good time to kind of wrap up OTAs, and
I think I'll start here. I think what people kind
(00:44):
of missed about Mini Camp over the years. It's no
different than OTA, except that as mandatory. So it's not
like the pads go on next week and we're gonna
see some like different type of football. So there's basically
like two and a half practices left of like passing camp.
So what has jumped out to you so far from
what you've seen? I think you guys have been here
(01:05):
three times, correct, Yeah, so far during spring practices.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I get to be honest with you, Joinning. What was
really jumping out at me so far is the intensity
of OTAs. We saw the fight last week, John, that
was a rarity for the OHTA. You never really see
guys go at it at OTAs. I love it. But
you know, you see slate, you see some guys stay
talking about about Hey, yes, you know, and David was
(01:30):
talking about the intensity level for OTAs like everybody's buying
in this organization.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Attendance has been good, Attendance.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Has been great. It's a different feel around here, John,
this spring from the last few years. But that's the
one thing that really seems to jump out of me.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Why do you think the energy is different?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I just think, you know, there's a new quarterback there. Look,
there's a future Hall of Fame quarterback in the building. Okay,
the franchise goes out dress Jackson thought, Okay, a new quarterback,
a so called franchise quarterback, which obviously they feel he is.
It always provides a bull through the building. Okay, I
think you have Russell Wilson. It's just a change. I
(02:12):
think maybe this organization needed a little bit of a change.
They got it, okay, And I think it's just rejuven
I think it's given everybody a little extra step. That's
the biggest thing that jumps out of me, the intensity
level for OTAs.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
You mentioned a new quarterback, and to a man, everyone
we've talked to when they've had press conferences and such
over the past three weeks have raved about Russell Wilson's
energy and his leadership.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Why do you think that has really struck guys in
such a dramatic way?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah, because you know what, this is a guy that's
probably going the whole fame John, and he comes in,
he talks the third guys third in a depth shot.
And you heard Tyrone Tracy talk about it today.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
He even talked to Pearson, who's running the show today, and
no one talks to Pearson.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Right, I don't know who he is. I'm yeah, so yeah,
but you know what, this is a.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Guy that comes in.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
He's such an accomplished player, super Bowl champion, right, and
he's coming in and he's talking everybody. He's making sure
everybody's on the same page. And that includes guys that
a third in a depth shot. But he's making sure
the good You know when you see that from this
guy like Russell Wilson, where a lot of these young
guys grew up watching, right John, and then he's in
there talking to you, Hey, listen, we gotta do this
(03:24):
this week. We'll make sure are you good with this?
All that stuff. He takes the team, the offense out
last week to dinner. Tyroln Tracy talked about that with
us today, just like that's just like when you see that,
it's like, man, I gotta go to the extra step
because this future Hall of Famer is the first one
in the building. He's the last one in the building.
He's making sure everybody's on the same page. And when
you see that, John, you better make sure you're doing
(03:48):
your work.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
The other part of the communication part that both Tyron
Tracy and Darius Lane talked about today Thursday when we
did the media availabilities, and I think Wanda Robinson said
this too, and we talked to him last week. He
tells you exactly what he wants, how he wants it,
and he does it clearly, so you understand, and I
think for receivers and running backs to a lesser extent,
(04:08):
I guess to understand how the quarterback wants you to
run the route, what kind of angle he wants you
to create, what kind of leverage he wants you to
do on a certain play. Dario, was he the trace
your Slaton pointed out that he's able to anticipate, well,
what the defense is going to show us before the play,
is able to say, all right, well on this particular play,
with this look, I want you to do this. That
seems to have really struck a chord with a lot
of the skill position guys on offense.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Oh. Absolutely, He's even had a little bit of an
influence on Dable. Look. Dave's talked to thing. We're asking
him about sevens a little bit more seven drills and
he's O tas and Table says, yeah, well that basically
came from Russell. He was talking about, you know, getting
more seven drills in so seven on seven know what
you mean. Yeah, I'm sorry about that seven on sevens
and Russell was talking about that with this is he
(04:50):
wanted more seven on seven drills, And Devil said Yeah, okay,
you know, so that that's the kind of influence this
guy has and the leadership. You know what, John, everybody
we have spoke two this spring, they all mentioned the
same thing with Russell Wilson. Guess that is what an
incredible leader he is, you know. And hey, listen, like
(05:11):
I just said, this is a guy that's going to
Canton one day and to have him in this building
and show his leadership, especially because this is a young team, right,
this is and they see that. I think it's been
a great thing so far.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah, I think it has been too. Of course, none
of this is gonna matter, and the busiest to play
well when he gets on the field, right, So it's
really easy to be hippy and enthusiastic now because this
is all you can do. They haven't had a chance
to go out in the field improve it yet. But
we were talking about this between the press conferences today
and I have brought this up on Big Bull Kickoff
many times. Even when you go back to his bad
years or his quote unquote bad years in Denver, right
(05:44):
when Sean Payton gets there, he clearly he doesn't didn't
want him there anymore, and he couldn't get him out
the door fast enough, He's still like twenty four touchdowns
and eight interceptions. Yeah, so this is like a three
to one touchdown the interception ratio with more than twenty touchdowns.
The Giants haven't had that since Eli Manning was here exactly.
And look, Johnny, he played well for the Steels last year.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I know it didn't end well for him.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
And it wasn't perfect, but they got him.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
They got him.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
And if you look at and if you look and
I always say this, sorry for interrupting, if you look
at the Steelers and their offensive production from the games
that Justin Field's play and you compare them to the
games that Russell Wilson's played, they're far superior in the
games that Russell Wilson played, just in terms of points
per game.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
And for everybody should be excited about who really came
to life with Russell to go over last year George Pickens. Correct,
Russell gets the ball down the field.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
That's the other thing Slatin talked about today.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Russell gets the ball and that obviously he's going to
be very big for guys like Darius Slayton, Elik Neighbors,
and even guys like Wandel Robinson.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Guys with the many legs that move really fast. According
to Darius Slayton, that wasn't me, Wandell, your teammates said that,
and many legs that move really fast.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
And I know what's impressing me too, John, Yeah, No,
I like that.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Guys like that. You know what's impressing me to ja high.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
By the way, I was just gonna get into jam.
So I like the way Russell has taken jailing under
his wing. Okay, he sees a lot of potential with
this young man. This is year three for jailing now,
and you see the connection going on on the field,
and he's OTAs one of his little crosses, you know,
and Russell's talked about him, Hey, this kid's got a
ton of potential. We gotta get this kid going, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
So, and he's had a bunch of deep balls too.
When you guys aren't here watching that scene, he's hit
him like he hit a deep post just in the
practice on Tuesday, like a fifty yard bombed out of
the right right.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
So you know he he loves what Jalen brings it
a table Russell, you know, and I love that too,
because and then you saw Dable talking today about Hey,
Jalalen's like basically at the hip of Russell Wilson. He's
taking all his information in from him. So, look, this
is a big year. Like I just sit for jail
in the year three. I know a lot of people
give it up on John be and you have it.
(07:48):
I think I speak for you here. This kid, you know,
this is like huge for him. In my opinion, I
think this kid could be a big factor in this
offensive year with Russell.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
And look, we don't have the exact number on it,
but Slayton was talking about Hyatt today too and said,
look he came back. Look like he added fifteen zero
pounds of muscle. I think they had fifteen pounds of
muscle over three months. I think is borderline impossible, but
I'll take Darius's word for it. But you could definitely
see the upper bodies much thicker with Hyatt just with
him walking around. And I'll be interested to see if
(08:20):
the style that Russell Wilson plays at quarterback, and you
talked about it with his enthusiasm, not just willingness, but
his enthusiasm for throwing the ball down the field, that
matches with the way Jalen Hyatt was used at Tennessee
when he was such an explosive player. So I hope
that DA can mix. You could figure out a way
to balance the snaps between Slaton, Robinson, Hyatts. All three
(08:43):
guys can you know, get a feel for it and
kind of have their role in the offense on different series.
So I do think there's a window here if he
can carry over what's going on in spring. Look, I
think the real test here, Bus and you talked about
it in terms of there not being any contact yet
a pad. How does he do once corners start getting
physical with him? Right, because that was always something coming
(09:04):
out of Tennessee one hundred and seventy five pounds, He
was never pressed at Tennessee. How does he handle this?
Does this success continue when they're able to put the
pads on, run press coverage and stuff like that in
camp and then get in the preseason game when you
obviously you're going to be very fit, guys are gonna
get very physical with you. How does it translate that? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Well, see, I think he obviously Jalen realizes that too,
because he bulked up some moll yep, so he realizes, Hey,
I gotta get off this line of.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Scrimmage, and it doesn't all he lost any speed. By
the way, with the no.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
No, he doesn't look, which can't happen. That does happen
to the players sometimes it does, but watching him and
he's Ota, it doesn't seem like it's happened to Jalen.
So look, he gets it. Okay, he understands what he
has to work out in his game. He bulked up
a little bit. He understands he has to get off
the line of scrimmage better. Howdle up get in here?
If you're lined up here, you gotta go over the
middle with at the score?
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Great? How do we make that happen? I don't know?
But citizens does? It makes sense of your money with
citizens Official Bank of Eli.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Okay, so I'm really looking for He's one of the
guys I'm going into training camp next month on it.
It has to be to keep an eye on. I
have a few guys always. Okay, I'm gonna focus on
this guy. I'm gonna focus on it. He's obviously one
of those guys are gonna focus on.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
And I wonder and by the way, this does not
mean that you wish he wasn't on the field and
doing everything. I wonder if this, the fact that Neighbors
hasn't done anything yet and he's on the side with
the trainers, if that's been a bit of a blessing
in disguise, because you know, if Neighbors is healthy, you
know whose pocket Russell Wilson would be in all the time. Neighbors.
Obviously he's gonna be his number one wide receiver. Yes,
and I'll give Neighbors credit. And I've said this in
(10:34):
my written reports. Even though Neighbors isn't practicing with the team.
When he's done doing his rehab stuff, he stands behind
the line of scrimmage with the quarterbacks, puts his helmet on,
puts his helmet in the huddle to get the play called.
Then he retreats, talks to the coaches, talks to the quarterbacks.
He also seems very very engaged and into this. And look,
I'm not gonna name names, but we've all seen other
(10:55):
wide receivers when they're hurt and they're or they're not
doing anything and they're in Springer even summer practices. Yes,
they're not on the field doing that stuff. They're not.
So I think it's really good to see a sign
of maturity from neighbors in the second year being that
engaged even though he's not physically doing these things in practices.
But I do wonder if the fact, to go back
to my original point, that him not being out there
(11:17):
has given the window for Jayalen Hyatt to thrive because
he's been able to really take all the snaps at
Russell Wilson with the ones yeah, really make that type
of connection.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
John, There's no question about him. He's taking advantage of
the reps he's getting because of Milik is out. And
you know what, John, I just backtracking back to Milik
for a second. What you just said. I put that
on social media. I remember the first Otia I was
at and I saw Malik do that. I said, oh, man,
look at Malika. But he came in, like you said,
he's hamming the kid. He's hamming. I thought that was great. Man.
You know, year two for this guy and here he is.
(11:48):
You know, he's not practicing, but there he is engaged
right there putting his head listening to the play from Russell,
you know, and that is a big sign of maturity. Man.
You know, Milik names wants to win, John.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
He could ease be standing with the other wide receivers sideline,
and that's what ninety percent of the guys that are
hurt to.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Look John, Like you just said, we're not gonna get
into it, but we've seen some guys over the years
maybe won't as engagement, it would not practice.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Didn't even show up in the spring for practicing. Right,
I'm not gonna get into that.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
But he's a positive. This kid is a star. We
know that, and here he is making sure he's involved. Okay,
and that's great for the Giants in their fans, man,
because I love to see that. John love to see it,
and he's been doing it all springing and yeah, Jalen's
taking advantage of the reps, right, He's getting a lot
of reps because of the leak, and that's great for him.
All Right.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
A couple of things on obviously, I think that's where
you have more of the kind of questions that you
ever figure out, how do you think they're gonna work
this running back room? Is it all three guys gonna
get regular playing time? Is it gonna take a little
while for Cam to kind of get in the mix.
And it's gonna be a lot of tracing Singletary at first.
Cam hasn't been out there much. So your thoughts on
how they're gonna kind of figure out how to use
these guys in that running back.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, Look, I think it's gonna be Tyrone Devin Singletary
you know, in camp, and and then Cam's gonna be
worked in slowly, you know, and then they'll start working
in I believe as we process bazonging those third down
type situations and then other situations, you know, short yardage,
goal line, low red all that type of stuff. Sure,
but yeah, I think they'll move him along slowly. I do.
I think time on, Tracy and Singletary will be the guys,
(13:18):
and they move came along because obviously you have to
get him on the field because he is a short
yardage guy. He's a guy has very you know what, John,
he has very good hands for running back. Oh yeah,
he runs routs. You watch him in college and he's
running routes.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
That's the funny thing about him and Tracy. They're both
so different stylistically, Yes, but both guys can't actually do everything.
They can run, they can catch, they can block absolutely.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Man, you know the way Kim runs routes and how
about some of it over the show, all the catches
he was making in college. Kids got very good hands, man,
very good hands. So they got two backs that they
could you know, they could scheme up receival a route
wise out of the backfield, which is always use which
Davill likes to do. So yeah, it'll come along slowly
for camp, but it'll be time on. It'll be Devin
Singletary in the beginning, and then they'll get Cam going.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
So the same question for the tight ends, Like, I
don't know if this is gonna be a group where
you're gonna like draft one of these guys on your
fantasy football team because I feel like Theo's gonna get
the most snaps. Yeah, but I do feel like they're
gonna try to mix in all of these guys depending
on the situation of the game.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Oh, I agree, I agree. Look, THEO was really starting
to come on before the injury last year, so he's
gonna be the guy. We know that, right, But the
Giants also gonna be in twelve and thirteen personnel. You're
gonna see Bellinger. Look, Babe was a big fan of
Chris Manno man, he loves Chris big in line blocker.
He loves what he brings him the table. So you're
gonna see those type you know, twelve thirteen type packages
(14:40):
and they'll be on the field. But no, Theo's gonna
be the number one guy. I don't think there's any
question about that. But it's a it's a pretty interesting
group because Daniel could block Bellinger, Manhurst is a good
in line blocker. Theo could run those seams. So they
will make it work. You know it's gonna be. And
I tell you what, I'm pretty high on the rookie
John fin don't.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
I can't wait to see him in Fidoni com the
one that has to pronounce it with the Italian accent.
Come and and I think by the way that I
think they're pretty excited about him too, given that he
played for a pro system in college and all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
I think they pretty John. I've spoken to a few
people in the last month and they feel it kind
of got of a steal here in the seventh round
with John Thomas FANDONI. You know, over here in Jersey,
everybody else talking about Hey John listen man. You know, I,
(15:37):
like I said, they feel they got to steal in
a seventh round pick with this kid. Look, this is
this young man was one of the most highly recruited
guys coming out of high school.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
He was the second second tight end in that recruiting class.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
And then we know what happened to Nebraska. He has
some injuries, okay, but we get him out. He having
the seventh round. I love the way he's a big boy, man.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
I tell you I saw him U close to the
first He's a big He's had long arms, you got
more drawn.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
He could run, very athletic. I'm looking He's one of
the guys I'm looking forward to.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Scene is Sommato, I agree, I'm with your Finally, the
offensive line on the offensive side of the ball, how
did you see the shaken out? Like how I think
we all expect that the same five that started last
year will start the season. I think that's our expectation. Yes,
could you put like a percentage chance if everyone's healthy,
that that's not the case, Like, is there a chance
that a Kubas or an Evan Neil could break into
the starting lineup or do you think something is going
(16:26):
to have to happen for that to be the case.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I would say Neil's gonna compete, but I would think
something probably going to have to happen. I think it's
Van Roden's job to lose. Neil will be competing, and
so I expect the same five. Okay, John, I do,
but we'll see. Look, Neil's moving over to God. He
played God in college, nothing new to him. But you
know he's going to compete over there, and we'll see
(16:51):
what he brings in the table. You know. Look, his
forte is what run blocking right.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
And I think he's a chance to be a good guard.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
I really don't, John, Look I've been reporting that for
last month. I agree with you one hundred percent. Brother.
I think he's got a very good chance to.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Be a He's a little tall, but he's so big
and long and powerful.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Like I don't know, I think absolutely. I think he'll
be fine, and we'll see how he competes this summer.
But I expect the starting five that we sold last
year to be out there against Washington in the first
game of a season.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
If you want to know how to manage two minutes
of crunch time football, I'm your man. But if you're
wondering about a long term financial plan, you should talk
to Citizens. Hey, I can also talk long care.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I'd like to learn about Annliar routine.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Yes, I knew I could help make sense of your
money with Citizens Giants on the podcast brought to you
by Citizens Official Bank of the Giants from Game Day celebrations.
Your everyday financial needs big move fans and get the
most out of everyone with Citizens. Learnmore at Citizens bank
dot com slash Giants. All right, let's go to defense
real quick. Boy, Let's go secondary first, because we talked
to Paulson Adbo today. Yes, and he's just such a
(17:53):
solid guy, just physically and mentally. I think, like cornerback
play can be very up and down, but I don't
think he's going to be up and down because of
what's going on up here. You know, sometimes you might
not just not play a good game. And look, I
think the stability that him and Holland are going to
bring to that group last year that was so young
(18:13):
and had some bad moments of the course of the year,
giving up some big plays. I think that was their
number one thing they wanted to fix this offseason. And
that's not a surprise. That's where most of their money
was spent.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah, Look, let's not forget what mister Maras said right
at the end of the season. He you know, at
the end of the day when he said, look, I'm
sick and tired of seeing offenses go up and down
the field on our defense, you know. And they had
addressed the secondary, you know, and Joe did, Joe Shane did.
He went out. They spend the money. I love a debo,
I love them New Orleans. Okay, And look, but one
of the keys to his secondary is going to be
(18:46):
a watch on Tate Banks in year three. Okay, for sure,
to rebound, get back to that second half Tate Banks
his rookie year. I know a lot of people kill
me on social media. I haven't given up on the kid.
I got to be honest.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
I haven't give up on anyone that's given up, but
him is silly. I think he's dedicated now. Now. Not
giving up doesn't mean that we think he's gonna be
like a pro bowler this year. That's not what we're saying.
But you have to give the chance, get a chance
in the years. Come on.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Absolutely, he's had a great, for my understand off season
for himself getting into shape up here.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Big thing that's that's it. That's it.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Okay, So Tay, Look, Tay needs to figure it out
a lot up here. I think he will. He's a
young man. Sometimes in this league, it takes a couple
of years to say, hey, wait a minute, the light
goes on, Hey I got it shut. You know, I
think he will this year. I think he's gonna be
a much better Tay Banks John in year three and
he look, they need him to be a much better
Tea Banks.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
You need to do.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
This is a number one Jeff pick Man, you know.
And then sometimes you know, John, You've been around a
long time. It takes guys in this league sometimes a
few years to figure it out.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
I remember he had two defensive two different defensive coordinators too,
from year one of the year.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Absolutely. Look, there was some other issues with Tay last year.
We know, I'm not gonna get into it again, but
I think you're not gonna see that anymore as far
as maybe some of that, you know, the men stuff,
mental stuff. Okay, I'm not getting into the hall. You know,
everybody knows what happened last year. I think he's gonna
figure out. I think Tay's gonna rebound well. And I think,
you know, He's gonna be a nice competent opposite of
(20:11):
a Deebo on the other side, you know, and I
looking for that. You know, God, Shane could play a
lot more that man defense. Bowen could play a lot
more that man defense with these two guys.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Excellent transition. How much do you think Shane Bowen is
going to adjust the way he runs this defense because
the personnel is different. You mentioned the man's own splits.
I'll throw in the fact that I think with two safeties.
You know, Nuban is a second year guy, but he's
very smart and Jamon Holland, you know, being who he is,
you know, being able to disguise a lot more doing
a lot of post more posts that movement and stuff
(20:41):
like that. How much do you think his playbook get
gets opened up a little bit because of those editions
in the on the prepare Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
No, I think Bone will adjust to his talent, John,
I really do. He's got you know, Look, he's a
lot of zone last year with Bowen, right, I think
he looks at this person, looks at the personnel now
and says, hey, we could do a lot more different
things than man covered. You know, a lot of man
press and all that stuff, because now you have a
debo who played a lot of man press New Orleans.
(21:07):
That's that's his thing. He likes to play that man press.
You you know, even saday the press, I asked him
about it today.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
How many times he used the word aggressive?
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Aggressive?
Speaker 2 (21:16):
And like six times? I tell you what.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
I even joked about him after after the press. He's
a big boy.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
He's built like a safety.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
He's built a safety.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
And if you put him next to Tyler Newman, they
probably don't look that much different.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
He walked in front of me after the pressent.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Said Holland for that matter, and I said, well, you
at this weight New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
He goes, yeah, yeah, sure. I was like, he goes, well,
I'm a big boy, but yeah, and he is. He's
a big he's a big solid corners.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Yeah, they actually are very built. So you guys, so.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Hey, so this is what you want in this league?
Two big solid corners. They could play man press. And
I think that's what he wants to do, right John.
He loves underwing. A couple of years ago he played
a lot more man press. I think take that's what
he wants to do. A Deebo loves to do that.
I think Bone will adjust to what he has this year.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
And the front's awesome. I mean, the talent is there,
and he saw even without the addition of Abdul Carter
and Chauncey Golston. Oh, I think not enough people are
talking about it. I think Chauncy Goldten has kind of
got lost in the Abdul Carter, you know, fractice, which
I understand. Abdul Quarter's terrific, He's awesome, but I do
think he's kind of been lost in that a little bit.
I mean, you have all the talent in the world.
(22:22):
If you can just get them some leads, and if
they can stop to run on first and second down,
there's no reason that this front should not be a
very disruptive force.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Oh, John, absolutely. You know, John, we're reading each other's mind. Say,
I'll tell you why I was talking about.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
That makes me very worried about my own mental acute.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
No, that's a very good that's a very positive I'm
alldern't worry.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
That's very positive.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
So I'm talking to a guy today and so I
will watch it. Praises and it's exactly what I said.
I said, you know, it's amazing nobody really talks about
Chauncey Golson. This guy could play football, bros.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
A good player.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
I mean, you watch him Dallas. Of course you always
seen to have one of his better games against the Giants.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Sadly that's been the case for a lot of Cowboys players.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
R This is a guy could put a three tech
to five tech you know, and all that. He's a
good player.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Man.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
So that's a great addish by Shane in my opinion.
But it all comes down to what again, something the
Giants haven't done the last few years, and that stopped
the run. Okay, they're gonna have to stop the run
because I'll tell you what. With these guys up front,
they get offenses in third and six is third and five,
third and sevens. With these guys up front, this could
be a very effective defense man because obviously guys like
(23:21):
TIBs Decks, Brian Burns and Abdual Cards of the World
and even choice he goes he gets his sex. You know,
they can get to the quarterback a couple more.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
I know some fans are worried about getting all three
pass rushers on the field. We can't talk about player
positioning and where they're lined up. That's the rules. But
I'll just say this with some confidence, I have zero
concerns about that with the way I've seen them move
certain players around. With those guys on the field at
the same.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Time, I have zero concerns. Abdulla will be out there,
He'll be moved around. Bone will figure it out. These
three guys are gonna be on the field. Now. I'm
not saying that dual card is gonna get six he snaps,
you know, but they'll figure it out. These three guys
are gonna be on the field, you know. And there's
gonna be a couple of one on ones. John, Yeah,
They're gonna be someone and it's gonna be fun to
(24:11):
watch guys in one on ones on his defense because
you got to count for decks. Brian, you know, TIBs
and now just kick Carta and guys like TIBs caughta Brian.
They're gonna have one on one matchups, man, and they
could have a very very interesting, very interesting year on
the defensive side of the ball, no question about it.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
We have talked about a lot of the positives, right, oh, oh,
what are your concerns and the things that you're thinking
about that you still haven't checked the box on but
you want to check the box on heading into training camp, well,
or not heading, but what you want to see in
training camp in the preseason, ye make you more confident
about the season.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Well, it's tough to see training camp against not not
against competition. But one of my concerns on the defense
is still gonna be John is gonna be stopping to
run as as the process was alone we go into
the season, because that's been a concern the last few years. Okay,
I mean, let's face it, that's been a concern. So look
what I want to see. I want to see t Banks.
(25:09):
I want to see the progression. That's a concern for
me still because he's coming off a year. Well, if
you're not concerned, then you won't watch. And yeah, he
asked football, giants football.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
And we did. We did X factor players last week
and he was my number than we were.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Thinking, So me and you were thinking along the same
lines again he was sadly, So, yeah, Tate Banks is
a guy you know I'm concerned about. I think, like
I just said a few minutes ago, I think it
will be bound. I really don't. I have faith in that.
But he's obviously right now where we're sitting right now today,
John and June. He's a concern of mine, you know.
And look and the offensive line still a little bit
(25:44):
of a concern for me. What if Andrew goes down
go forbid again? Yeah, let's last year, Let's face it,
when Andrew went down, it all came apart, right, That
can't happen again. I know Shane has addressed that he's
bringing He's brought in some tackles Hudson for sights, but
that's still gonna be a certain the mind, a little
bit offensive line, no question about it. I think all
five are healthy. It'll be pretty effective like they were
(26:05):
last season before Andrew got hurt. And uh, but those
two right there, I'll be watching as we move along
in the process.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I'm with you. I want to make sure you're doing okay. Tyrone.
Tracy today mentioned he had Tellamari for the first time
last week and as one of the goals of the
Manja Cast with.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
With domin Wait, why do I speak to paper about this?
Speaker 2 (26:24):
I know you took that very personally.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Oh that was incredible. I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
I think you have a chance to talk to me
about it. Yet, if you pulled them aside like you do,
you have to like take them the car mines in
the city or something. Well, I might have to take him.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
I might have to take him a little lily. I
gotta I gotta confirm a popper about this, and like
we have a guy.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
On a small Now, I feel like Arthur Avenue is
is kind of where you have to take him.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Yeah, yeah, I think Arthur was bigger than Mulberry Street now, yes, yeah,
I mean it's changed over the years. Man. From what
I used to go do literally is one block. Now
it's literally one yeah, I mean from when I was
when I was a kid, it's much smaller. But yeah, listen,
you know, I got to the tyrone, gotta explain something.
I gotta take him out and then he'll will work
his way up to the manjic cast for me.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
And Popper and all that stuff. So I do feel
them on the clams though, and the muscles. I'll eat them,
but they're if you especially the raw. I'm not a
big fan of the texture from Brooklyn. You don't like
cla They're fine. I'll eat them, but I'm not going
to go out of my way to a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
But you'll call him a guy, call him Mai excuse me,
you're a Brooklyn guy. I know you gotta.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
I know that after a late night little dipping sauce
and a little.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Cal and you're getting me hungry right now.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
That'shing wrong with that. Anything that you want to let
people know about, Chris, No, just.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Do you cook?
Speaker 1 (27:56):
I cook very little.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
I think maybe cast, maybe maybe you need to pay.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Yeah, pap was like, you gotta step up your game.
Christ But you know what, I think we've learned something
from the Voice of the Giants that people don't know.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Bob, Like, the dude is a serious cook. Bob, even
though I'm man, no bab wild, even though I'm looking
