It's victory Freaking Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Cowboys Click and win against the Raiders thirty three to
sixteen the final in Las Vegas. Ladies, we gotta win,
how y'all feeling? Cowboys moved to four five and one
in the Sea in gotta feel good, especially after the
week that they had, you know, losing a brother, a friend,
best friend, and Marshaun Neelan And you know, I loved
(01:08):
hearing Shady say that he would be so proud of
you guys for the way that you guys performed last
night speaking about the win, but just talking about, you know,
considering everything that they went through for them to go
out there. Great.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
It didn't look great to start. Let's keep it a stack, but.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
You know, they settled in, figured things out offensively and
got the way.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
And Christy, I'll start with you.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Yeah, I think the story is the defense. And you
can say, hey, it was the Raiders and their offensive
line has struggled all year the Raiders and so has
their run game and one of the lowest scoring teams
in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
But the main thing was not only did.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
The Cowboys take care of business, but the way that
they apportioned the playing time and integrated the new players
in not just Quinn Williams and Logan Wilson the veterans
acquired via trade, but Revel getting a number of snaps,
Kaylin Carson getting the start and playing well overall and overshown.
(02:12):
Let's see, I've got the number of snaps here. Demo
ended up with unofficially thirty one snaps, Logan Wilson and
Kenneth Murray sharing time at middle linebacker respectively, thirty four
and twenty six snaps Wilson and Murray, and then Revel
with nineteen. So that was the most encouraging to me.
(02:33):
So you know, it's still an NFL team that you're
taking on with the Raiders. But I just like the
way they handled the line and did better on the
back end.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
So that's what I'm taking out of this game. I A.
Speaker 7 (02:46):
Yeah, just I think just stepping onto the plane and
seeing what they were able to do emotionally was impressive.
And I don't think that anyone could have knocked the
Cowboys however the game would have got it.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
It was not just a saying.
Speaker 7 (03:01):
It was really much more than football, and you saw
that with everything that they did and how they carry
themselves in the game, and then just to see that
they were able to, you know, hold that composure, play
complimentary football play, arguably one of their best sound games
with all these additional pieces. Yes, talent wise, we all
(03:22):
kind of predicted that this can only really go up,
but it's still when you're bringing some the star player
and some veterans in, it's still a lot to learn
in that short amount of time. And there's gonna be
we saw some stuff last night and we'll talk about
a little bit. You know, it wasn't just like that
for some of the guys coming back, and I think
we kind of knew that. I think this was a
(03:43):
good team to go up against before you face the
Eagles in a short week, mind you that coming up.
But six possessions in the first half, squad on four
of them, offense looked like the offense we've seen prior
to those two bumpy weeks. And then, like Christy just said,
the defense, they had you smiling because offense put them
in a predicament there early in the game. They had
(04:04):
to play some red zone defense there and did it,
and they gave their offense opportunity to kind of wake up,
and as soon as that second quarter hit, it was
just turned into an offensive clinic. It was fun to watch,
It was fun to be be ad and then just
to know everything that this team had to do to
prepare to get there, I think just made it that
much more special.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (04:23):
Holy impact of Quint Williams. I mean it's hard to
you know, not notice. You know, going into this game,
we talked about the offensive line for the Raiders and
I thought that, you know, Dallas would have opportunity to
take advantage of their take advantage there. But with Quinn
Williams coming in and having the day that he had,
you know, and on his debut, I just feel like
(04:43):
you know, he has stabilized that defensive line.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
And one thing that we'll talk about is the we
expected for them to be at first.
Speaker 8 (04:50):
Coming out this game, I thought that they rushed for
more than what they actually did. There were a lot
of five man combos in this game. That's something that
we saw on Trust training camp. But that's something that
we saw in T camp that I think ebra Flus
wanted to implement this season. I think he has the
proper guys now and or he feels like he has
the proper guys to implement some of the things he
(05:10):
wants to do this season. And to your point, Bread
and to your point, Christy, I thought they did a
fantastic job integrating guys into the defense to slowly, you know,
kind of slow play them in certain places.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
And even you know, as we.
Speaker 8 (05:23):
Talk about the secondary, some conversations is gonna be had because,
I mean, rewatching the game this morning, I was really
impressed with Kayln Carson in savon Ravel's debut game. So
I mean, well, I know we're talking about the offense.
I think I agree with Christy that the focus should
be the defense, even though the offense is you know,
the offense and the improvements that they're making and hopefully
(05:46):
they can continue this as the season goes on.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
It's funny because we've been talking about the difference a
true defensive tackle what he makes to a defense, and
we're finally seeing that with Quinn Williams. But when you
talk about, you know, bing a good point with the offense,
put them in a tough predicament. Yeah, you go three
and out, then you get a turnover, and then of
course the defense having a defend from the Dallas fifteen.
(06:10):
Of course, Quinn Williams, Kenny Clark, they scheme up a sack,
they get home, third and twelve, Logan Wilson and coverage.
Of course, you're seeing that true linebacker position as well
with Kenneth Murray played well. Demarvin overshown in his snaps
as well. But overall, let's just talk about the twenty
(06:30):
seven rushing yards that they allowed for the Raiders. I
think that's actually insane.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
That's one drive. Yeah, the first ten games on twelve carries.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Yeah, you know they'd allow that in one drive the
Cowboys defense, but they were getting penetration obviously. But that's
something I think we talked about last week that Ashton
Jenny is as awesome as he is. Twenty eight percent
of his carries were either tackles for loss or.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
Zero yards gained. So that.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Raiders offensive line has been allowing some penetration there. But
you still have to you still have to go out
and do it. I think what was cool about Williams
is it was about, okay, we're upgrading the run.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
Well.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
He had five quarterback hits in the first half alone,
and so I think that it was the contributions across
the board, and even with the sacks, the way they
were spread out amongst the players was showing that it
was more than one or two guys that were getting home,
you know, getting that, you know, sacking the quarterback. So
(07:42):
that that's to me is another thing that really stood out.
Speaker 7 (07:45):
Yeah, my boy, Genti had seven total rushing yards yesterday
and we talked about what they had and really that's
what they have on in the run game. And I
can say this because I grew up in a at
that time Oakland Raiders household.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
That's a bad football team. It's just a bad football team.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
Bad offense, the defense.
Speaker 7 (08:06):
Stevens play as well as I thought they would, but
they're struggling like as a whole, there's a reason why
they came into that game two and seven. But that
again not taking away anything the Cowboys were able to do.
They did exactly what they're supposed to do against the
team like that, and you hope that's something that can
carry over. But when it comes to they were able
(08:26):
to do in the run game and completely force them
to do what they haven't been able to do all
season and get something going in the past game. Of course,
Bowers there were some chunk plays where I was like, ugh,
you know, it gave me like the ick because I'm.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Like, he's gonna make some play.
Speaker 6 (08:41):
Oh yeah, he's just that guy he is.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
And I was like, we talked about that. Oh, we
talked about that.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
And they did give some chunk plays to a couple
other people twenty yards fifteen yard catch, twenty six to
Tucker eighteen.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
I mean, that can't be really ignored.
Speaker 7 (08:56):
And I think when you're gonna go up against some
offenses who do get to the red zone and can
score touchdounds another thing. The Raiders were giving you field
goals and also giving you chances there as well. So again,
not not a perfectly clean football game, and I think
when you face a team who has their stuff together
just a tiny.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Bit more and who can do a run game.
Speaker 7 (09:16):
But to your point, Christy, that old line on the Raiders,
I'm like in the center, poor boy.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Yeah, we talked about it.
Speaker 8 (09:25):
This one, poor boy, we talked about it.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
It was rough for him.
Speaker 8 (09:30):
I think, you know, some of the improvements you saw
in the run game go back to some of the
five man fronts that we were just talking about, even
Flu who really mixed up a lot of guys in
the way that he kind of deployed guys we saw.
Also saw James Houston get more snaps than he has
seen all season. One thing that I thought that the
Cowboys did well prior to the bias to sade A Clowney,
(09:50):
it is y y'all are starting, because these are two
gentlemen that take containing in the run seriously. These are
two guys that know how to read the run well.
I thought that this was an underrated part of Donovan
is Roku's game coming into the NFL, and I thought
that was a smart decision by Dallas to go ahead
and make them the starter.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
So I think you see improvement there. But again with
a guy like Quinn Williams, he frees up your three
texts to be three texts.
Speaker 8 (10:16):
I know that we were looking at Kenny Clark as
a kind of as a more one tech guy, but
he really is kind of a hybrid guy. He's a
little bit more lighter in the butt. And so for me,
I think I enjoyed seeing, you know, the other guy's
benefit from and Donavan is Roku played inside a few
times as well, benefit from you know, him being that
centerpiece and Evil Flu's feeling like he can deploy those
(10:38):
guys and with those five man fronts, you know, somebody
gotta b lock somebody. Yeah, and so we saw some
guys getting free because of the fact that they have
to account for Quinn Williams.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
For Kenny Clark, you.
Speaker 8 (10:49):
Saw some more guys obviously slipping through tackles and stuff
like that.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
I thought the safeties.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
Malie Cooker and Donovan Wilson, I think that them coming
back and helping in the run in the alley, I
thought that helped as well.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
So it was all has to the ball. There was
an energy.
Speaker 8 (11:04):
I don't know if you ladies can tell us, like
it felt like there was an energy on that side
of the ball. Specifically that really you could feel it
through the TV screen.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
I'll say, my ladies talk about it a little bit.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
Well, there was a whole energy in the building because
it was over fifty percent Cowboys fans and my extensive
research along the Las Vegas Strip. Yeah, I did go
out early, come on and went ahead of the team
arrived on Friday, but let me tell you, it was
Cowboys fans everywhere. But that was the biggest takeover I've
seen in a long time of a stadium. So yeah,
(11:38):
you felt the energy and the building because it was
mostly Cowboys. Well little felt like over half were Cowboys fans.
But you know the other thing about the fronts. They
didn't have Solomon Thomas who missed the game with a
caf injury. That's not a toya, it's not, but it's
just less experienced and yeah, that's explosive, heavier in the
(12:03):
But to use Ayusha's term there, but yeah, just wait
till they get Solomon back.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
You know that.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Of course, these short weeks make it a little bit
tougher for a guy dealing with a calf injury anything
soft tissue. But to answer there, do you agree breathe
that there was just a great energy.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
I mean we have to get there super early, right
for before basically the team steps out and Dak and
will Grew was first people that I saw like taking
labs and yeah we saw Dak do the prayer. But
to your point, Nicole defensively, Aaron Whycott walking in with
the Kneeland jersey on spoke volumes and I believe it
(12:45):
was I want to say it was Quinn Williams. They
asked about if it.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Was different it was Quinn. Yeah, if it was different
seeing just how you know.
Speaker 7 (12:55):
This is all these coaches are affected, but this this
was the guy in his room every single day that
they lost, and you just have to kind of like
think about what that is for him again, seeing that
empty seat in there every single you know that that's
a lot.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
So I do think there was a lot of passion and.
Speaker 7 (13:13):
That was something I'm like, I don't know if I'm
just like paying extra attention to it because I know what,
you know, what this game and emotions are, but it
really did feel like that, like from warm ups into
what you saw out on the field and even talking
to the guys in the locker room, like it kind
of just felt like a little weight lifted off because
they got the first There's gonna be a lot of
first when they have to go through, yeah, without him
(13:35):
having even got through the like the first home game.
With that, you know, like there's just like getting on
the flight, going just coming back to the facility, getting
into the locker room, having the first part, Like, there's
still like going to be a lot of first And
I just felt like you could feel a little bit
of a weightlifted off when.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
You were talking to them.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
And you made a good point about Quinn Williams because
when you came in last week, he was asked about,
you know, how are you kind of handling the whole
mart Shawn Dale.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Thing because you you didn't play here.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
You know, you didn't necessarily know him, And he said
it taught me a lot because you know, I was
so focused on just coming.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Here and winning and doing my job.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
But like now I'm having to, you know, get to
know who my brothers are going to be. You know,
you can't go to war with anybody that you don't know,
and so that that resonated with me and hearing him
talk about it, you know post game, you know, the
relentlessness that they knew they had to go out with
U and play. You saw it on the field, and
I usually made a good point about, you know, everybody
(14:30):
benefiting from a guy like Quinn Williams. Let's talk about
the linebacker play because we've been criticizing.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Them all season long. Yeah, yeah, rightfully so, But no, I.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Mean those guys tackling well, playing with good instincts, filling
their gaps correctly. Talk about you know, the difference that
you know, the second level did you see impressed you
the most.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
I mean, honestly, it was.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
We talk about instincts, we talk about I will say,
you know, I feel like coming back from the bye,
from getting again, talk about getting some of those veteran
players back, getting some of those guys back on the
back end. It felt like you didn't see when I
rewatched the game today, you didn't see a lot of
guys late into the play clock, like get over there,
pushing guys out the way, pushing guys out the way.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
You know.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
So I'm hoping that this is a point to where
you know, first of all, Jimmies and Joe's, are X's
and os, you got some guys out there that could play,
but also too, I think that you're seeing them maybe
start to I truly believe that this is what Flus
had in mind.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
I do.
Speaker 8 (15:27):
I think this system, the way that they're kind of
doing things is what he had in mind.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
And then being able to implement that.
Speaker 8 (15:33):
It felt like they trusted what they were seeing a
little bit more yesterday going up against the Raiders offense
that we know has been struggling, that we know is
not flashy and all those things. And I'm sure that
helps you know the lack of motions and all that stuff,
But from a linebacker standpoint, I want to get I know, Christy,
maybe you can break down a little bit more of
the actual rotations of how it was.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
But I do agree with you, Nicole.
Speaker 8 (15:57):
They definitely benefited from the interior of this defensive line
play and better the ends, the defensive ends being more
sound and also too, they just trusted what they saw
more and just played their assignments. And I think you
saw that yesterday specifically in the run.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Yeah, I was watching, We were watching the game here
in the studio and Nate Noton goes. It's crazy how
they all of a sudden figure out how to play
their gaps and everybody know their assignmentsh it's crazy what
personnel does.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
So we were in there, give me lao.
Speaker 7 (16:25):
Hello.
Speaker 3 (16:26):

Speaker 6 (19:06):
Sorry, I just had to do that.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
It was only right thirty three sixteen the.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Final in Las Vegas, and of course the biggest stories
coming in was Demarvin overshown so on Rebel, how would
the snap count look like for those guys realistically? And
Chris you got a little insight on what that was.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
The plan was for both of those guys.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
Yeah, they were with Demo around thirty snaps or so,
and the main thing was, yeah, getting to start, he
was out there, you know, on some first downs, but
he was going to be used situationally on third downs.
So as if you go back and watch the game,
you may see some series in which he wasn't out
(19:46):
there at the beginning of the series, but then they
would send him out there in third down packages.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
Same thing with Revel.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
He was going to be used as situationally at times
that would include third down. And then the the way
that they were working it between Murray and Wilson at
middle linebacker is that was literally series by series, So
Murray was going to get the start, and then the
second series was going to go to Logan Wilson, and
then you know, third series. You know, basically you know,
(20:17):
the odd number of series would be Murray and then second, four, sixth,
eighth series Wilson. The way that the drives worked out,
again this is unofficially Wilson ended up with more snaps
than Murray thirty four to twenty six. But one thing
I think that the thing with Logan Wilson that he
(20:41):
worked on the most, coming in during the bye week
following the trade, where he benefited with that time was
working with Dave Borgonzi. The linebackers coach on terminology because
you hear about players and most of the time we
hear about quarterback changing systems and having to learn a
(21:03):
new language. Well, it's the same way for a defensive player.
The system wasn't that different. The scheme coming from Cincinnati
to the Cowboys was not that different, but the terminology
very very different. And that's so important for Wilson. When
(21:23):
he's on the field, he's the green dot and he's
having to relay the play calls. And when you have
the green dot the radio helmet on, the coordinators can
speak to you, whether it's the offensive coordinator speaking to
the quarterback or the defensive coordinator talking to the green
dot on defense until fifteen seconds are left on the
(21:45):
play clock. Once it hits fifteen seconds, there's literally a
person that works for the NFL UP in the booth
and they press a button that kills the communication system
once the play clock reached fifteen seconds. But in that interim,
Ibraflus could give like reminders to Wilson or kind of
(22:08):
helped translate some of that terminology. But I find that
very interesting when you talk about learning a new language.
But then again, if the green back green dot or
the middle linebacker is like the quarterback of the defense,
then it makes sense. I'll also say that I think
it also helped to have Malie Cooker back in the
game as well, helping with alignments and communication as well.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
Yeah. Absolutely.
Speaker 8 (22:34):
I mean, he's a guy that's played in Ebraflusis system
before and I think him and Donovan Wilson being back
on the field was something that did help with communication.
But when you talk about the linebacker room and things,
I do have a question to you ladies that were
there with Overshown having to come out and.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Have his brace readjusted. How was that? Can they just
give us any details.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
That was mainly first quarter, and there was when I
noticed it first time. It was when the Cowboys offense
was on the field and Britt Brown, who's the director
of rehabilitation for the Cowboys, one of the athletic trainers,
was he was Demo was sitting on the bench, you know,
his regular spot amongst the linebackers, but they were really
(23:17):
working on that brace, trying to get it adjusted. And
then there was at one point, I believe it was
early second quarter, when Demo took himself out of the game.
He was kind of pointing at his brace, you know,
not pointing at his knee like oh it's I'm in pain,
but just pointed like my brace, my brace. And so
he came off the field but really only missed a
(23:38):
couple of plays on that particular series.
Speaker 8 (23:40):
Yeah, to be so different from him because it's it
probably has a lot of like doesn't give, have a
lot of give, you know what I mean, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Yeah, what do you think it's? I would think so.
Speaker 7 (23:50):
I mean, I know when I after myth that thing
clearly from my angle to my knee playing volleyball.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
But you work up so much with it, it kind
of you kind of get used to it.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
And I think we've just been seeing Demo going harder
practice with it.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
I think it was.
Speaker 7 (24:04):
And from the broadcast, what will I have a different
angle obviously from someone I'm listening to the broadcast. They
were the first thing when I was like, they were
like Demo took himself out of the game. I was
like what, And then to Christy's point, they were Cliffy.
It was just a male literally a malfunction with his
brains trying to figure it out. So it is different
because I'm sure the guys are coming a lot harder
than the guys here at practice, Like he's you know,
(24:25):
been going for the last few weeks and ramping up
and things like that.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
But just from what we've.
Speaker 7 (24:29):
Been hearing from him prior to the game, it seemed
like he used to or ready to be look like
what he's gonna look like in Philis Freeze.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
He is with that thing. But I was one of
the guys.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
I actually didn't get to talk to you after the
game because it was so like Hex Dick getting a
lot going on, and I saw him getting dressed while
I was heading out, and I was like, dang, I
didn't get.
Speaker 9 (24:48):
To go over.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Yeah he was.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
He was great and here what he said, but most
of the questions were more towards talking about Marshawn. And
then he was asked about you know what message with
the nine eight eight National Suicide Hotline.
Speaker 8 (25:04):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (25:04):
He was talking about yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
And encouraging people to reach out.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Yeah. It's interesting though with knee braces. I'm uh, I
hate to go back so far, but there are different
philosophies when it comes to that with coaching staffs. So
for example, Bill Parcells when he was here, it was
mandatory all of his offensive linemen were required to wear
knee braces period. Yeah, but you know a lot of
(25:33):
players don't like to wear him, but Bill made him
that that was not optional.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Right.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Personal the Savanna revel, he didn't have one.
Speaker 8 (25:42):
I know we're going to talk about him, but Christy,
you mentioned him only playing nineteen snaps. I mean I
got excited at watching him. Oh yeah, yeah, I got
excited watching him this morning. Him and obviously Kaitlyn Carson
kind of working in tandem. They played a revel on
the left side of the line and on the right side,
right cornerback.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
He had the defensive holding where it was kind of whatever.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
But the way that he read the receiver yesterday I thought.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Was amazing that that was something that.
Speaker 8 (26:10):
He did well in college, is that he could mirror.
He could pick up on tendency's endgame. There was some
opportunities for him. I mean they moved him into the slot,
they moved Carson into the slot, and there were times
where like his quick the quickness is still there, the
change of direction is still there. So this was for
to not see a guy for a year a year plus.
(26:32):
I think this is one of the like, this is
all you could ask for for a Savonnravel, who we
have not seen much of, to come out to look confident,
to still have some of that quick twitch to him
to be able to mirror and recognize what's going on.
I'm excited about this player. And we got to see
a shout out to Joe Hooyd from the Dallas Winning News.
(26:53):
He tweeted a really cute photo of Britt Brown and
Savonna Revel walking off the field into the tunnel, and
that's something that you know, we don't talk. He spent
a lot of time with him, and I thought it
was dope for Joe to break some awareness to that.
But just how Howard He's had to work to get
back to this point as well, So I thought it
was as good of an outing you could ask for.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
And pass rush helps your corner.
Speaker 8 (27:16):
Yeah, when's the last time we seen PBUs and plays
on the ball and tit balls. That is also guys
know when they're supposed to be reading the offense and
pass rush getting there and these guys not having a
cover for twenty days and twenty nights.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Yeah, Kayln Carson with two passes defended, both on third downs.
By the way, talk about Kayln Carson and the jump
that he has made, because we know last year he
had his fair share of struggles. Then he battled injuries
of course, and even this year having to wait his time,
his opportunity and finally getting it of course against Arizona.
(27:54):
Believe you only allowed he didn't allow any targets or
any completions, but just talk about him and the jump
he's made just in a year.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Yeah, just looks like a confident player.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
It was so disheartening last year to watch him because
when I watched him in college, I was I was like, oh,
this is a that's my ball. I'm taking this ball
from you type guy. This is a press guy. This
is in your face guy. And then unfortunately, like he
went through some of the ebbs and flows of being
a rookie and dealing with his injuries. And to your
point of God, yes you've you've spoken to him multiple
(28:26):
times offline and things like, he's just been patient, waiting
for his opportunity. I saw, you know, Christy obviously was
reporting on the inactives and activism, and when I saw
Traquest Bridges not as an as an active player, I
knew what was up.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
I said, Oh, okay, k are you about today, because
I we mitched. I talked about it last week.
Speaker 8 (28:43):
It's like he wasn't targeted a lot, but you saw
that he just looked comfortable and shadowing the receivers last week,
and so for him to carry that performance where he
didn't get targeted that much unto this end, don't get
it twisted.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
They started going at him at the end of this game.
Speaker 8 (28:58):
They was like, oh, let's see see what you can do,
and he held his own. You know, obviously, like his
tackling ability is something that I want to see come
back into the forefront.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
That's something he did really well in college.
Speaker 8 (29:12):
But the coverage last night, I thought was one of
his best performances we've seen from him, and it's something
to definitely build upon moving forward.
Speaker 7 (29:20):
I like the group of what we're seeing with the
corners because I mean, basically with Kaitlin in there and
Revel now and then you got Drown Bland, who also
had a heck of a game, it's kind of fading
some other people to the back well as as as
it should. And I think it has not only has
a lot to do with what's going on upfront, because
(29:41):
I will say, yes, excited to see what Rebel.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Can do going forward.
Speaker 7 (29:45):
But he, in my opinion, did look like a guy
who hasn't played in a very long time, and you
saw that. But when you have what you have up front,
it buys everybody just a little bit more time. And
I think that's going to make him not look better,
but it's gonna give him time to get where he
needs to be. And it's been a long time since
(30:05):
he's played football, and this is him catching up to
the NFL speed of things. I think the same for
Overshown as well. Like a lot of people, I didn't
see a lot of tweets about Overshown last night.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Right, it wasn't enough. Right, they were barely on the
I mean, that's what I'm saying honestly.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
Too defensively, it's hard to even evaluate because they were
barely on the field.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Like the Racers offense could not sustain drive.
Speaker 8 (30:26):
So we only see them, you know, every now and then,
or when Dallas made a mistake and things like that.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
So I agree, it.
Speaker 8 (30:32):
Wasn't a lot to talk about in regard to Mario Overshawn,
But ravel I agree with you, this is gonna give
him some time to kind of adjust. But I did
see burst quickness. He didn't look like he was laboring.
It didn't seem like he was unsure. Does he need conditioning, Absolutely,
I definitely agree with that. But like, he didn't look scared.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
That's what I'm saying, and that's what I care about.
He don't look scared. He seems confident in his need.
Speaker 7 (30:53):
We still have a digs who's eventually going to be
able to come back. But you say so, that's a
different conversation.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
So who el who.
Speaker 6 (31:04):
Today?
Speaker 4 (31:05):
We got people taking I wish we compare this pink slip.
Speaker 7 (31:08):
I wish we could compare this tape from the beginning
when he was flashing at again, Jay, you say about camp, don't.
Speaker 8 (31:15):
Trust it, never Trustraight ever Again Jail dropped the mic.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
Hey, isn't that something about Carson though? The way they
matched him against Bowers that it was impressive. Yeah, I
mean it shows you the respects they have for for
Bowers and you know, tight end. That's a big dude,
a lot of physicality, right expected of a cornerback if
you're going to match him up against a big guy
and a talented tight end like Bowers. So yeah, I thought, uh,
(31:48):
ebra flues, Uh and uh uh, you just showed a
lot of trust right over Street and.
Speaker 8 (31:55):
The find waste to get Bland on him too. They
found nice game.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
For Bland displays them. Yeah, he didn't. It was the
best game the previous game. So it was a great
bounce back.
Speaker 8 (32:05):
That was good point, Christy. Yeah, it was a good
bounce back game for him. But I just think again,
like also to the corners trust their safeties to be
what they want to be, and that trust, like bre
you mentioned earlier, allows them to take some risk to
you know, make some plays directly on the ball and
things like that.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
So yeah, it's.
Speaker 7 (32:23):
Not on the other side that I'm like, I'm like,
I'm good, too excited.
Speaker 8 (32:28):
But the cornerback play, despite the fact that the Raiders
receivers are not guys that you were just gonna be like,
oh my god about, it just looks more sound and
I think that's what we've been looking for.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
Who's your standout guy from defense? I never gonna get
into offense in the last segment, but I want to
make sure we shine a lot on this defense because
we've been, you know, rightfully so of course criticizing them
all season long, because it has been you know, one
of the biggest struggles this year for this team. Who
was the guy that you know stood out to you
the most and impressed you that you didn't really necess
(33:00):
really expect to come out there and play easy.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
Quinn Williams, Well, I mean I expected, I expected it
because that's part a bit different, but as a ROKU
getting a safe playing playing so well. But wow, Quinn Williams,
as advertised and some.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
It feels amazing to be Dallas has been building their
defensive line from the outside in for a long time.
They've relied on past rush for a long time, and
for them to, you know, this interior defensive line is
something to be excited about. And these guys' ability to
move guys off the ball is going to make it
(33:37):
easier for everyone. So I'm excited to just experience that
as someone that's been studying the team for a while,
like they've.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Never done it this way. Maybe they flipping the scrip
a little bit, but who's your person all around? I
mean it's Quinn Williams.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
Was a period he was asked about it, like straight up,
like how does it feel to be that guy who
comes in and changed the outlook?
Speaker 4 (33:57):
And he said you know very mids he's supposed to do.
Speaker 7 (34:00):
It's not just one person, but hey, we don't want
to hear it, because Lion.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
We saw it.
Speaker 7 (34:05):
One person can make a very much big difference for
everyone around him, and all those guys in there will
tell you what that man does to that front that
brings to the rest of the defense. And then to
think about people the audacity to talk about him having
an off year in New York with the Jets. Honey,
they wasn't win any games. He's been there for how long.
(34:28):
I would feel that way too. I mean, he wanted
he wanted out, and I feel like he has been
what is the word.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
Re what rejuvenated?
Speaker 7 (34:38):
That's good, Okay, I'll take it rejuvenated in doubt. He
just looks like this is a fresh start for him.
And I know this might not be the year the
Cowboys make a deep playoff run, and that's fine, but
this has a lot of upside to it at this
point season. I think the only part that hurts is
that I wish this team could have had one or
(34:59):
two more wins where they got made this trade and
we could be having a totally different conversation. But just
to get see him get his first sack last night,
I was like, oh, yeah, this is.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Gonna be fun.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Oh he was wrecking wreckon that interior. Him and Kenny Clark. Yeah,
Kenny Clark's like hate that's right, Yeah, I have there's
someone else here that helped me.
Speaker 11 (35:24):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
But my person is going to be I'm really I'm
a little torn. I think the no, no, no, they both.
Speaker 10 (35:37):
For me.
Speaker 8 (35:37):
I think it has to be Kayln Carson. I think
it has to be Kayln Carson. You know, just him
boundling back from me had a pretty serious injury last year.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
He kind of was pushed to the wayside.
Speaker 8 (35:48):
This is a new coaching staff that is very important
to think about as well.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
He's drafted in the fifth round.
Speaker 8 (35:54):
I just feel like seeing him come out yesterday in
battle and seem confident, and I just feel like that's
gonna matter moving forward, but also to for him as
an individual, as an individual player, So it has to
be him for me, because I was looking for him
to kind of take what he did last week and
bring it into this week, and he did that, and
(36:14):
consistency shows you know what you know what you're doing
out there, and that matters.
Speaker 3 (36:19):

Speaker 3 (39:18):
Cowboys offense back on track, even though you know, of
course ceedee lamb. George Pickens benched on the opening series
per Brian, not per Shody.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
It was a coach's decision. Of course.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
They'll have to answer to that, possibly or possibly not.
But when you talk about this offense, you know, of
course getting the run game going, but it was really
a George Pickens game, because you know, first two drives,
three and now turnover you finally get George Pickens in.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Uh you saw him on the sideline. I don't know
what he said.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
I don't know what happened, but by the broadcast it
looked like he said, give me the ball.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
I don't know, could be making this up.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
But no.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
George beakins a couple of first downs, moving the chains
for the Cowboys. They settle for a field goal, but
then of course next drive they score a first touchdown.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
It was off to the races from there.
Speaker 6 (40:11):
From there.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Wow, Sorry, got choked up talk about this offense, the
way that they finally bounced back christy.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
Yards after contact, Pickens especially, but Javonte Williams as well.
So one hundred and forty four yards nine of eleven
receptions on the targets for Pickens.
Speaker 6 (40:30):
But I call it.
Speaker 5 (40:31):
I like to watch on from the sideline, the reaction
of teammates and when the defensive guys are sitting there
trying to pay attention to defensive stuff while Pickens and
the offense.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Are out there.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
I call it the meerkat effect because something spectacular will
happen and they're all.
Speaker 12 (40:50):
Like what.
Speaker 6 (40:52):
You know, up and looking and then watching the replays.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
And there was a lot of meerkat last night because
there was there were so many spectacular runs after catch
or Javonte Williams just taking a three yard gain and
turning it into an eight yard gain, and just the
offensive line really getting the better of a Raiders defense
that really has been an above average.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
Solid distance this year.
Speaker 5 (41:20):
They did not look like it last night. And Dak
was spectacular again for touchdown passes because the previous couple
of games had really struggled and was under a lot
of duress. Even though the sack totals weren't that high,
he was, you know, being moved off the spot and
having to hurry throws and that wasn't the case last night.
(41:40):
Just an all around terrific effort by the offense, with
the exception of that opening three and out with Pickens
and CD watching from the sideline.
Speaker 7 (41:50):
Hickens is freaking amazing and his price had y'all goes
every single we got to talk about it because.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
I was like, h can he be a little less good?
Can he be better? I give him his contract here,
but he is.
Speaker 7 (42:04):
He's so fun to watch. He literally looks like when
I'm playing Madden. He looks like one of my video
game figures who can do amazing stuff where he looks
like he's about to go down, but psych he's still
gonna go like he was making the Raiders defense was
like a fool on the other side, and the first
three touchdowns from the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
They were wide open in the end zone.
Speaker 8 (42:23):
I was some really good play design bus to cover
just with some very good play designs down there on
the red zone.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
I know that Raiders defense was tired.
Speaker 7 (42:30):
But the Pickens in CD LAMB Show everyone keeps talking about.
I feel so bad because people there was like all
the questions were about CD and Dak.
Speaker 4 (42:41):
I mean CD and Pickens, And then you forget how.
Speaker 7 (42:43):
Phenomenal Dak is playing because it's almost like we expect
it because he's doing it consistently over and over again.
Like Dak's numbers are insane as well. He mistaken there's
a record he just broke for three pass once he
got his three passing touchdowns.
Speaker 6 (42:58):
To be able to do.
Speaker 5 (42:59):
That, Romo for the most games with three or more
TD passes.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
I feel like every.
Speaker 7 (43:05):
Week we're talking about another record that this man has broken.
And this is what's gonna hurt if this team finishes
a little bit short of the goal line. This year
is going to be Dak had a freaking amazing season.
This is an elite offense, and we hope to see
the duo again next season. But you just don't know.
(43:26):
You don't know, and you don't know if Dvonte Williams
is going to be here next season. And I hate
that the defense looks like it does.
Speaker 4 (43:35):
What Week eleven? Cool, I know it took so long.
Cool was crazy it took so long.
Speaker 8 (43:42):
But the quarterback played, you know, obviously played a really
good game. I thought he made some really tight window
of catches, just putting the ball exactly where it needed
to be. Some layer throws, you know, those deep over routes.
His placement was fantastic. There was a couple times that
they caught the Raiders when they were going to hurry up,
so he was able to utilize tempo and kind of stuff.
Just again just using this cadence being a quarterback being awesome.
(44:04):
The Cowboys were committed to not letting Max Crosby beat
them after he had those times where he was whipping
on your tackles. The tackles did get whooped on a
few dombs. The interior had some issues there a few times,
but really it was the tackles that had some issues.
Dallas was committed to not allowing that to happen. They
decided to chip. It was a lot of guys that
were helping out.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
Hello, Hunter Lipke, what's up?
Speaker 12 (44:27):
Man?
Speaker 6 (44:28):
Game?
Speaker 4 (44:28):
County game captain?
Speaker 5 (44:29):
Last night, we missed you.
Speaker 8 (44:32):
Seeing howter Lipke get involved in some of those short
yarded situations on third down. I thought he ran well
between the tackles. Also to he as a receiver, you know,
doing some things on third down as well. So it
was nice to kind of see him get integrated into
this offense as well a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
Maybe that's a wrinkle that we see.
Speaker 8 (44:50):
Shoddy ad now as he gains more confidence in this
offensive line as well, because that's what he's That's what
Lipke's been doing.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
Yeah, a lot of the dirty work.
Speaker 8 (44:58):
Thought that the team un blocked better than they passed blocked.
But the pass blocking pass pro Javonte Williams came in
there and picked up some sick blitzes yesterday. And I
don't know if y'all gonna say it, but I'm gonn
go ahead and say it. Dash Yeah, Yeah, Malik Davis
got out there. He got some explosiveness to him too.
Maybe they can continue to get him involved as well.
Because Yvonte Williams had a season high twenty two carries yesterday.
(45:22):
How sustainable is that if you do want to go
on a push, if you can get into the mcdance.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
But I will say Ryan Flinoy.
Speaker 8 (45:30):
Yeah, has quietly, to me, quietly, really taken that wide
receiver three ish position Cavante Turpin. I feel like after
he got injured. I don't know what has happened there,
but he has not been involved in the offense as
much and also hasn't been as consistent as much. Jalen
(45:51):
Tobert snaps are way down as well. Ryan Flinoy seems
like the guy that they trust in the red zone
in some of these tight situations to get it done.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
And I just think that.
Speaker 8 (46:01):
That receiver corps for Dallas as a whole has a
lot of explosiveness, some versatility, and they're going to be
I think hopefully they can keep them together.
Speaker 5 (46:11):
There Yeah, I just wanted to say because I don't
know what was shown on the post game last night
on Monday Night Football, but I'll tell you what happened
on the sideline as the game ended, and of course
players are going to midfield to shake hands, and the
ninety four Marshawn kneel and jersey that had been hanging
in the locker room pregame, they brought out to the
(46:34):
bench area and as the game ended, Ryan took that jersey.
Of course he was very close with Marshwan Ryan and
his wife with double date with Marshawn and his girlfriend,
and so Ryan took that jersey and held it. He
climbed up on the bench and was holding that jersey
up in front of the Cowboys fans that were behind
(46:54):
the bench, and then he carried it onto the field.
And what was really cool was not just Cowboys players,
but Raiders players standing next to Cowboys players holding up
the jersey and taking pictures. And as Osa was posing
with a Raider player with the jersey, Donovan Wilson came
over and snatched it because they were forming the prayer circle,
(47:18):
which is always at midfield right around the logo. That's
a very common thing. It happens after every game. It's
players from both sides and coaches coming together. And Donovan
made sure that they took that jersey and laid it
right there in the middle of the prayer circle. And
after they finished the prayer, then they obviously took the
jersey back into the locker room and it was in
(47:40):
the locker right next to OSI's there in the visiting
locker room. So multiple ways that they were able to
honor Marshawn last night.
Speaker 8 (47:49):
Yeah, Shaddy said they gonna keep honoring them to not
just gonna be one game, a one and done thing.
Speaker 4 (47:54):
End of the season.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
Dak said, probably, you know, years to come as well,
just because he is forever a Dallas Cowboy.
Speaker 4 (48:02):
So what a way for the Cowboys to bounce back
after the week that they had.
Speaker 3 (48:07):
Get the win for them, get the win from our
Shawn Kneelan, and hopefully it continues. They got Philly up next,
then they got the Chiefs and I don't want to.
Speaker 6 (48:15):
Hear it, and then they'll look at it.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
I don't want to look at the rest.
Speaker 8 (48:19):
It's just the good thing about all of those teams
you named is that nobody looks like yep a just
the best film.
Speaker 4 (48:29):
It's one of those years, one of those years.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
Yeah, all right, well that's a right for today's show,
Cowboys four or five and one and the season back
in the win column, get the dub over the Raiders,
and we got more shows to break down the film
against Philly this week.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
So make sure to chant with us at eight a m.
Every day this week because we'll be here. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
