Speaker 1 (00:03):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
This is Girls Talk, Boys Talk, presented by Invisilne, trusted
by over five hundred NFL players for their winning smiles,
and broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star.
Now your host, Nicole Hutchison, Wake.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Up, Cowboys Nation, Welcome in a Girls Talk Boys Talk
presented by invisil Line in the SWBC studio. I'm Nicole
Hutchinson alongside Brianna Aldrich, Christy Scales, aishamborson.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Ladies.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Well, yeah, let's talk about it. Me ain't go waste
some time. Cowboys fall to Detroit out in Detroit forty
four to thirty the final. They are now six six
and one in the season, and I think we can
all agree that we didn't expect that type of performance
for Dallas in terms of this offense. Not able to
get things going consistently, UH playmakers, aside from Seedy.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
Lamb and aside from royf Linoyd, UH.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Not stepping up the way that they needed to defensively.
I think that you know, early on, they gave this
offense chance. Unfortunately got a little gassed from Detroit. But
just talk about this matchup as a whole. Yeah, what
stood out to you ladies the most about this loss?
And I'll start with you, Christy because.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
You're on the sidelines, regression.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
I felt like we were back in October an early
part of November, you know, like like the Eminem song back.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
To Reality please.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
Just Yeah, a lot of Eminem in Detroit, and I
like Eminem, but it was a little too much last night.
Speaker 7 (01:50):
But the.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
You know, everything that they had done correctly in the
three game win streak, they absolutely did not do last night.
They lost the turnover battle, self inflicted wounds against some
of the star players, and you know, all these offensive
pass interference and it couldn't protect Dak. They couldn't get
a stop in the second half. Defensively, only forced two punts,
(02:16):
both in the first half. But Detroit had twelve drives
and let's throw out the last one because that was
kneel down at the end of the game. But eleven
drives and you surrendered eight scorers scoring drives there eight
out of the eleven. So in special teams, your kicker
(02:37):
kicks five field goals, you get a blocked field goal
and then it's like special teams. I'm sorry that was
It's not acceptable.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
It was horrible.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
It was not acceptable. You yielded two hundred and sixty
one return yards on kickoffs, and the Lions had a
short field all night long, not just on your turnovers,
but they're starting field position. The average was the forty
one yard line. They were basically one and a half
first down to way from being in field goal range.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
So absolutely not acceptable. Whose idea was it to keep
kicking it to the retirer? Please? Well? And they didn't
even have their main returner, Khaliff.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Freeman was an active injured so you had two of
the backups and one of them Kennedy. He was on
the podium last night after the game because he had
such a good game.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
It was for the media. It was insane on returns.
So I just wanted to come in. It's like, was there,
I want to definitely?
Speaker 7 (03:37):
Yeah, Well, Christy, everything you said about what went wrong,
it was crazy because all those things happened in the
first half. And I kind of like looked around because
this team has done this consistently with the slow starts,
the bad first halfs, and they come out firing, and
I was like, let's just see what happens in the
(03:57):
second half and that first drive, and it was like
a to me, it wasn't really like all Dak on
that interception, but the way it just bounced off of
Pickens into somebody else's barns his hands, I was like, okay,
it just felt like it went from bad to worse
and like you said, a lot of self inflicted wounds.
One of the hits that I did for CBS, I
(04:20):
literally used the SoundBite of Schottenheimer saying, if whoever wins
the game on Thursday is going to take care of
the football, and they did not take care of the football.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Everybody in the locker room.
Speaker 7 (04:32):
We spoke to offense defense, They're like, We're like, what
was the message after the game? Well, the recipe to
win the game isn't giving the.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Ball up three times.
Speaker 7 (04:42):
Yeah, Dak I took like I saw him coming out
of the tunnel.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
He looked like he got sacked five times last year.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
He took a beating.
Speaker 7 (04:51):
He had like a like a little limp happened. That
wasn't promising. Tyler Smith came off looking a little limped
out on badness.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
He has not been right all year. I'm not saying
that he's played poorly, but the guy he's been playing, yeah,
playing heard all year.
Speaker 7 (05:09):
Yeah. How they walked off is how everybody felt. They
looked defeated. And I think the thing that bothered me
the most just looking and I don't I mean, you're
you're on the sideline, Christy, but from the press box,
it looked like when the lines got a little bit
momentum there, the bench looked dead compared to what I've
seen in the past, where they're kind of like somebody
(05:31):
was always on the sidelines getting in somebody's face, pumping
them up, you know, all the jump in and screaming,
even when they were down. And I think that was
the difference that I saw last night. I kind of
like peeked over to the bench from the press box
and I'm just like, it looks like we're losing.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
By a lot.
Speaker 7 (05:46):
And then when I think in the second half, when
it became like a one score game, and then I
like I remember tweeting and I was like, it's only
a three point difference right now.
Speaker 6 (05:54):
You hit the nail on the head right, and then
it just right. They never because they yielded the long
kick off return they were doing the thing before the
game and coming out the half, raise the roof right,
and they get thirty to twenty seven. They're what nine
and a half minutes or whatever in the nine to
fifty two and the fourth quarter and they're on the sideline.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
No I mean.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
Literally yeah, literally, Osa is down there high five and
all of the offensive players because that was the Flinoy
forty two yard touchdown catch and then the Ferguson two
yard excuse me, two point conversion. So they're trailing by
three with nine to fifty two to go and long
kickoff return and the Lions have the ball at their
(06:37):
own forty one and five plays later it's thirty seven.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
To twenty seven. I mean that's something.
Speaker 8 (06:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
The score just like if I was just reporting on
this game, like kind of just looking at the stats,
the score does not reflect what it felt like in
ford Field.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
Stadium last night.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
They just didn't.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
This looks like Cowboys went out here and played their
butts off the offense with amazing note Brandon Aubrey kicked
his butt off last night with what five field goals
and they got two touchdowns. That's what happened to a
team and everybody I think you were tweeting it too.
You're like, you're not gonna win this game if you
just keep kicking field goals, And that's what kept happening,
and you knew what the lines were going to do.
(07:16):
Dan Campbell got on his back early. You saw him
trying to throw some tricks. Some of them weren't working,
but he just kept throwing stuff and it worked. And
you guys talked about all the week who was gonna
be who had to be stopped. Those people weren't stopped.
The one on ones in the second level were just
some scary stuff happening. I think our linebackers continues to
be Wow. Another question mark after the little one. Proven's
like you said, regression, but a lot of what you
(07:39):
saw I saw Christy, But I mean there's a lot
of there's too much bad coming out of this where
you're too far in the season.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
You knew it was on the line.
Speaker 7 (07:47):
Now you're looking at a nine percent chance going to
the playoffs. It was a dead locker room, it really was.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah, That's pretty much what we said yesterday on the
postgame show, was that like you saw one team wanted
more like both of these teams came in of course
with the same what's the word I'm looking for, same
thing on the line, desperation and you saw the lines
just absolutely wanted more. This offensive line, Like I think
(08:13):
Tyler Guiden needs an apology.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
He deserves an apology.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Granted, Nate Thomas still has hasn't had the experience that
Tyler Guidan has had, but he.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Was absolutely getting whooped by.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Aiden Hutchinson, and of course not an easy matchup. But
when you get your quarterback hit that much, it's unacceptable. Acceptable.
Dak Prescott would I think he was pressured twenty times
on fifty four dropbacks?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah, the offensive line, like that's that's that's what comes
to mind when I first started watching the game, was
I mean to to reas point, was the the intensity level.
You could tell at the very beginning of that game
that the intensity level that the Lions came out with
the Cowboys hadn't matched, and it took them a while
to match it, probably until about that third quarter to
(08:58):
kind of come up to the level. I think when
you look at this Cowboys team, they played a lot
of games in a short amount of time, and at
some point time it catches you and I think, you know,
when you go on runs and stuff, you know it's awesome.
But the reality is is that these guys got out
physical last night. They lost the line of scrimmage in
a major way. Your tackles, to your point Nicole could
(09:20):
not hold up, and that played a huge reason and
Dak's clock being sped up all day. I mean, we
talk about some of the things that maybe they wanted
to attack downfield, maybe they didn't have time, and then
not being able to really establish the run there. You know,
Detroit decided we're just gonna drop back in this shell
and there's nothing. You guys aren't doing anything to make
(09:40):
us get out of it. You're not attacking downfield, which
is what I thought would be there for Dallas with
their secondary banged up, and you're not running the ball
effectively enough for them to say, well, maybe we need
to bring a safety down there in that box. They're
just dropping guys in coverage. I will say that the Lions, well,
we gotta wait for the numbers. But the Lions didn't
run more man well zone then we're accustomed to seeing
(10:02):
them doing. I think that that threw off the Cowboys early.
We heard George Pickens kind of come out, they were
doubling him. As soon as CD went out, they shaded
coverage and it was good night. And I really just
felt like when you talk about pass protection, Dallas was
not able to take advantage of this offensive line didn
play well and they weren't able to take advantage of
their weaknesses on the back end. And from a defensive standpoint,
(10:26):
it don't matter what you do. I think the offense
put them in some bad situations, but I really feel
like you cannot, Like Christy said, I've been talking about
it for the last like I don't know how many weeks,
because it's been concerning to me for multiple weeks. Starting
field position for the Cowboys and where the opponent is
starting on the field. It has not been good for
(10:47):
weeks now, and so it just this week is when
it came back to bite you in the butt. Dallas
has been able to line up, go the length of
the field and get touchdowns and all that stuff. You
were backed up in your own end zone and your
tackles was getting war and so you just do they
have to figure out the special teams element of it.
We don't talk about it. We do, we do talk
about it, but special teams was a huge reason, like
(11:11):
Christy said, why the offense wasn't able to get going
as well.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
Yeah, and we're criticizing the coverage, let's talk about the returns.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah, and the penalties.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
Palties, the penalties because Cavante that's two times in three
games and illegal you know, fair catch signal. But oh boy,
that Shamar James penalty. And I saw, I saw, I
saw him coming back. Cavante was cutting it up and
oh my god, we finally got a big return.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
You could see.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
I could.
Speaker 6 (11:41):
It was just the angle of where I was on
the sideline. I saw him coming back and tried to
but oh man, it's like.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
Oh and uh man, uh they just the self inflicted
wounds were across the board, but particularly on special teams
in the return game, and it cost field position and
those hidden yards were just awful. And then the one
time where it's backed up and I can't believe it
was not a safety from field level. I thought that, well,
(12:11):
I thought that, yeah, And.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
A lot of stuff that went their way and there
was a lot of stuff that went our way.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
I'll say it was a thing. It's an old NFL
deal over a fishes. I won't say what, but let
me just say that the first half and Brie, you
know how that crowd was reacting. I felt like in
the first half all the calls were going against the
Lions and the crowd was reacting, and then in the
(12:39):
second half it's flipped the switch.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
But let's just say that.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
That there were a lot, a lot, a lot of
calls last night, and even more than what ends up
in the final stat sheet because of the ones that
were offsetting. But godly just shooting themselves in the foot
in all three phases where the Cowboys last night?
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yeah stop.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
And it's crazy because you pointed that out, Like, how
is this team going to respond on when you've gotten
all these calls your way? You know, of course at home,
on the road, whatever, the last three games, but now
you go into a hostile environment. These referees are kind
of trying, I guess, make some good close calls.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
I don't know, big.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Differ and plays were merited, they didn't really work.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
You grab a guy's face mask when you're coming out
on the pass route.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
That just can't that Ferguson penalty.
Speaker 6 (13:31):
Yeah, well Ferguson was trying to block.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Tyler Smith was right a fellary he was trying to
block and then Pickens had the p I downfield but
not Yeah, I agree. You can't be operating like that.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Seven penalties for seventy six yards for Dallas.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Which sounds normal.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
It was normal lest it worked all Harst time, key
moments and key my god.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
So for somebody, can somebody, can somebody point to the
neutral zone? You know what, do we need somebody to
come out there and points Stay on the side, Stay
on the side.

Welcome Back in a Girls, Star Boys Talk Prison, Mine Vizilline,
Nicole Hudgison, Brianna Aldrich, Christy scales, Aisha Morrison, do you
want to talk about this deft because this has I'd
say this unit has been kind of the heartbeat of
this turnaround so far. Unfortunately they faced a better team
Thursday night. I want to talk about the explosive plays
(17:12):
because they had five of twenty five plus yards, one
of those coming from, of course Jamior Gibbs, who had
three touchdowns against the Cowboys. And you know, we were
talking about it off cam ra Ayisha, you know, obviously
him attacking them in the receiving aspect, and I want
to ask you what do you remember from of course
(17:34):
him being drafted and that showing up against the Cowboys
because we were just talking about how much they attacked
him in the receiving game. How much of a stress
did that put that on Dallas?
Speaker 4 (17:44):
I mean, it's it's the reason why he was a
running back that was taken in the first round. And
it was a lot of conversation about number one. That
class of running backs was fantastic, him to me being
one of the best, but what made him unique? And
I don't know if you ladies remember, it was during
that time as well where the running back position started
getting to my opinion devalued. Guys were getting paid pennies
(18:07):
on a dime. It was hard for them to get
second contract. So there was a lot of controversy on
what type of running back do you take in the
first round. Jimi or Gibbs is one of them. The explosion,
but the matchups that you are able to find with
him as a receiver is to me what sets him apart.
Not only is he a runner that's explosive, has sent
(18:28):
fantastic breakaway speed and vision, he is also someone that
you can put out their own routes. And when I
tell you, that was something I was definitely concerned with
the Cowboys. The Cowboys have struggled, The linebackers have struggled,
and coverage all year. This team stresses your corners to
come up and tackle. And when he got them in space,
(18:49):
it was good night. You know, these guys were not
able to wrap him up. So to answer your question,
it puts an immense amount of stress on your secondary
and even so they got them. They got guys lined
up on safeties, they got guys lined up on linebackers.
I mean, I thought that Dan Campbell, even in his inexperience,
did a really good job finding some favorable matchups with
(19:09):
Jamier Gibbs and the Dallas linebackers who have struggled and
covered who have struggled to do these things. They could
not hang last night. So it's very stressing, and I mean,
there's not a lot of answers to it unless you're
able to put I thought that Fluce would maybe go
a little bit more dime, maybe put a dB on
him at that point. I just didn't think we saw
(19:30):
enough adjustments there to what they were doing offensively.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Seven catches for seventy seven yards.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Also on the ground, twelve carries forty three yards, three touchdowns.
But Christy, what kind of damage did Jimier do?
Speaker 4 (19:43):
It was bad?
Speaker 5 (19:44):
Y'all?
Speaker 6 (19:44):
Well, we talked about it on Tuesday, right that he's
just a touchdown machine and has more touchdowns through his
first three seasons than Emmett had for the Cowboys through
his first three years, and with his three touchdowns yesterday,
he tied Barry Sanders for all time most touchdowns in
the first three years of an NFL career with forty seven.
(20:06):
And oh, by the way, Gibbs has four more games
to go, so he has scored more touchdown than his
first three years than Hall of famers EMMITTT. Smith and
Earl Campbell and Gail Sayers and Eric Dickerson. So just
to put it in perspective, I love the word you used, Ayisha,
which is stress. The way that the Cowboys defense was
(20:29):
stressed and beyond Jamiir Gibbs, going back to what we
were saying about special teams, I just felt like the
defense was stressed all night by being put in bad
positions with the turnovers by the Cowboys offense and the
bad field position because of the long kickoff returns. And
by the way, the one punt that Brian Anger just
(20:53):
absolutely name sailed it sailed it. You know, the ball
was at the half yard line. It's not even a
ten yard snap to to Brian Anger. His heels are
right at the back of the end zone, and yet
he nails at sixty two yards and they get a
twenty one yard return. So again, the the Lions started
(21:15):
at midfielder this one actually in Cowboys territory. So I
just felt like the even before the first snap of
an Lions offensive series, that the Cowboys were already in
bad position and stressed.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
I know what else kind of stressed me A little bit,
the way that they were using Gibbs to kind of
like chip guys across the defensive line, like Quinn Williams
getting out on a route, but also chipping Quinn Williams
chipping Donovanezeraku. The way that he came out, They got
him out in space and he absolutely laid out the
ron Bland.
Speaker 7 (21:48):
Oh yeah, that ankles broke. Please, I think I'll just watch. No,
I think the angle was worse. His ability to stop
and go is sick.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
But to your point about the chipping, I mean, yeah,
say that's how Sakwan got Quinn in. That's something that
you have your guys do. And and you know Jamior
Gibbs again, he's not a guy you asked about his
college tape. He wasn't a guy that was fantastic in
past protection. But when you do things like that to
affect the pass rusher to help out your quarterback, I
was disappointed in Dallas's inability. Now, the rams, the rams,
(22:20):
the the lines did go quick game a lot, which
was frustrating, which is like, you know they're getting the
ball out quick. Why are you playing this soft coverage?
Why are you giving up so much leverage? So much
cushion off the line of scrimmage. And it was weird
because I think, yeah, I think a guy like Amar Ran,
obviously Jamison Williams, they are due to be respected. But
at the same time, you don't give them free releases.
(22:42):
Stop doing that over no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Realm A mon Rol Satan bro was also a Game
Time decision, Game Day Decisions.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
First of all, they played that fantastically.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
They did his look. Did y'all talk about him possibly
not playing last week?
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Yes, last week, Yeah, we did, and they definitely, they
definitely did a number on he.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Was warming up, I said, he looks just fine, like
compared to the our guys who are who were possibly inactive,
and they were on the cords and trying to see if.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
They were you know, I said, that man looks just fine.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
All those guys were banged up. But they to y'all's
point earlier, they they played through it.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
They played hey and and the Lions were playing. You know,
they're starting left guard was a surprise inactive at the end.
And oh, by the way, yeah, they their starting cornerback
was placed on I R. Thursday more or Wednesday afternoon,
and they lost both of their starting safeties to injury
during the game. Yeah, one of them early in the
first quarter.
Speaker 13 (23:36):
Yeah, there was no, it didn't matter who had the
most Yeah, who had the most concerning performance against Detroit defensively,
Cowboys just once.
Speaker 5 (23:47):
Just yeah, we're going one.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Don't name the whole roster.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Boy, that's I hate to pick on.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
We pick a group.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
No, I think that I love Savone revel and he
always going to have a great career. But I think
they got to him a few times.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Am I wrong?
Speaker 10 (24:04):
No?
Speaker 4 (24:04):
No, No, I think you're right. But I'm I'm really,
I'm I know a lot of people are upset with him.
I'm just I'm not upset. No, no, no, I know
he's not upset with them. But I don't believe you
have to get some pass rush too. Yeah, this was
the game. No, this was a game where him, being
a rookie, showed some of his inexperience showed. I've never
seen him panic with the ball in the air. He
(24:25):
had that happened a couple of times where he got
a little bit grabby and stuff like that, which is
not like or he's not looking for the ball. He
is a gentleman that thrives in the press. So learning
zone is gonna take him time, the awareness to feel
forward all that stuff. So again we talk about I
was disappointed. I was disappointed in some of the we
(24:45):
last week. We got to see Dallas run a little
bit more man, a little bit more zone. I thought
that that could have helped you in this game, and
I thought that you needed it in spots in this game.
But that was just something that eber Flu's opted to
not do, is not play as much Man.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
I don't know why he did that.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
I think it's because they do a lot of Jamison
will when you know, when they get burned along, everybody
will be why were you?
Speaker 4 (25:04):
And yeah, I think it's because they had They do
a lot of picks and things like that. And then furthermore,
with playing man, that means your corners are going to
have their back turned to you, and with a guy
like Gibbs that can catch the ball out of the
backfield and put you on a weird spot to where
you you you're like, yeah, we want to go downfield
with these receivers, but the spacing that can be created
from you playing man, I get it, but I also
(25:25):
feel like the guys that you have mm hm, that's
their that's their calling card. We got to see them
play last week, and a lot of it was because
they mixed. They had a really good mix. I think
it was sixty to forty a man in the zone.
But they got cooked there too.
Speaker 7 (25:37):
I feel like that's what everybody was like, kind of
looking at it.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
That's your boy too.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Yeah, he got Marky's Jammes and Williams.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
But their speed, their speed gave dout big kills speed
they were attacking, and I think for my person would
have to be Kenneth Murray because I'm just I'm just
scratching my head every week. We talked about when when
Logan Wilson came in and how he was gonna kind
of take over as the green dot and kind of,
(26:05):
you know, the veteran guy in that group, and he
was an automatic upgrade once he got comfortable and they
were splitting the reps when he first came in. And
then if you look at the snap count, fifty eight
percent goes to Kenneth Murray over shown seventy six.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
So those are your guys. Logan Wilson got forty two percent.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
What was going on?
Speaker 5 (26:26):
Snaps?
Speaker 4 (26:27):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Why?
Speaker 5 (26:29):
That's what I would like to know.
Speaker 7 (26:30):
But I mean right out of the gate, they they
picked on him and they're they're making it a one
on one with the speed with the speedy guys, and
he's losing every single time. So that to me was
kind of a frustrating a little bit because it didn't
take long for the lines to figure out where the
weak spot was on that second level there. And then
(26:51):
there was one point it was also in the game
that caught my attention quinnin Williams came and helped in
the second level and got a tackle and stopped to it.
I don't remember who it was was running, but he
was going and somehow, like I just love the way
Quinn Williams plays, like he literally came and helped, turned
around and helped that second level because baby, it was
(27:13):
going past the linebackers. I promise you that there was
nobody there. And then there was other like you know,
there was some tape out there floating around, and there
was just like a lot of plays where Kenneth Murray
just continues to look lost on what's happening.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
And again this is week fourteen and it's like the
same regression.
Speaker 7 (27:32):
So I still have and it wasn't just him, but
if I had to pick someone, he definitely stood out,
and he stood out early.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
So yeah, for me, it would have been it's to me,
it's the linebacker corps in general. If it's really weird
that Logan Wilson kn't hasn't been able to find his
way to consistently get on the field, especially from and
again I said this with respect, but I've watched Murrays tape.
I've seen what I've seen. It's not it's the instincts,
the awareness, all of those things that you're looking for
(27:59):
from linebacker. It just isn't there consistently enough to where
when you mentioned when Shoddy mentions competition, Okay, well, like
you're thinking, so, I'm concerned about where Logan Wilson is
that he can't beat out Murray to get on the field,
especially at this point in the season. But yeah, man, Dallas,
(28:20):
if they want to be a good defense moving forward,
has to figure out how to cover the flats, how
to come up and tackle. Their teams have attacked you
there all season. They have not thought you could stop
it all season. And Detroit, being smart, did the same thing.
They attacked the middle of the field on your linebackers
(28:41):
and coverage, and they did a lot of stuff at
the line line of scrimmage to try to get yakyardists
from their guys. We talked about the Cowboys needing to tackle, well,
they struggle with that. They struggle with tackling. So for me,
it's gonna be the linebacker corps in general. I had
start overshow and makes some good plays in the run,
but even with him, there's only like so much they
(29:03):
can do that they're not playing together well as a unit.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Yeah, mine would be probably between Deron Bland and Ready Stewart.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
I felt like they were ready.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Yeah, there were just so many mistackles. I feel like
they were constantly getting I'm sick of y'all constantly getting caught,
like their eyes were caught in the backfield, no type
of awareness of guys around them at all. I felt
like Demarvin Overshown really was like a saving grace in
terms of helping them clean up tackles. So I would
go with a Ready Stewart Deron Bland, of course he's
(29:33):
had an up and down year, but yeah, them corners
man attacking savone rebel, and I do want to make
sure we give him grace because coming back from an
aco injury definitely not easy. But like you had already mentioned, uh,
he played predominantly you know, man coverage all throughout college
and so you.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Know he's still learning. He's still learning, but his normal
awareness wasn't there, because I've seen him on tape even
when they're plan zone and stuff like that, look confident,
look like he knows what he's doing. He's always looking
for the ball. He's typically in pretty good position. He
uses that length really well. But these were some very fast,
shifty receivers. And again I'm saying it, shout out to
(30:14):
Dan Campbell because he called a really good game, like
even in his inexperience. They had a plan and they
executed it better than Dallas could execute their plan. Yeah,
they exploited the matchups, and that's what you were looking
for Dallas to do, is exploit matchups. We've seen them
do that in the past. We've seen them do that
several times over the course of the last couple weeks.
But yes, ready, Stewart, whereas I there were times where
(30:39):
number one, he was struggling on whether to take the
inbreaking rounte on to the inside or to still help
out on the outside, and then also too when they
were bringing him on blitz situations, there was hesitancy there,
and I'm like, guy, you gotta go. I mean, this
is Jared Goff. And that's the thing that frustrated me
the most last night as well, is that I get
what you got going on in your back and you're
(31:00):
worried about guys maybe not being able to get there,
But you gotta affect this quarterback. You cannot let this
quarterback just set up. The numbers are stifling, like fifty percent.
His completion percentage drops when he's when he's pressured, and
Dallas just could not Like I thought that Eba Flush
would be a little bit more creative, and how he
found ways to get pressure and also too in the
ways that he tried to get pressured, guys did not execute.
(31:23):
So it was just a bad, bad, bad, b bad bad.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Yeah, guys getting out coached, out played, out executed on
the defensive side of the ball, but also on the
offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
I do want to make sure that we touch on
that as well.
Speaker 3 (31:35):

Nicole Hutcheson, Breonna Aldridge, Christie Scales, Aisha Morrison, and of
course you can look at the postgame notes. Of course,
you know bron does a great job with that, and
you see, you know, Javonte Williams had.
Speaker 5 (34:23):
A thousand yard career, Mark Ryan.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Ryan Flinoy with a career highs in receptions as well
receiving your art excuse me, with also a touchdown in
that game. But mm hmm, none of that really matters,
because it does matter, shout out to them, but it
does get under overlooked just because the Cowboys did not
perform at a very high level like they have been
(34:48):
for most of the year.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
I know we talked about it a little bit, but
this offensive line.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Ayisha, huh, yep, I'm starting with you why, I mean,
I'm starting with you.
Speaker 5 (34:59):
I'm sorry with you.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
I just think that, I mean, when you looked at
the Lions pass frush coming to this game, they weren't
playing like that. They weren't like they they weren't getting
consistent pressure enough. Obviously, Aiden Hutchinson is a guy that
you know, requires for you to give him attention and stuff.
But I was surprised at how many times were you
surprised at how many times that Dallas just was like
Nate Thomas figured out. I think that that was based
(35:22):
off of the fact that they had to have Ferg
as a receiving threat because or the tight ends as
a receiving threat because CD went out, but Beebe Nate
Thomas had his work cut out for him. He struggled
mightily with the quickness of Aiden Hutchinson off the line
of scrimmage. And then the other gentleman, Mohammed. I remember
sitting here in cowboy Land and watching him when he
(35:45):
had on the Cowboys jersey and the things he was doing.
He was doing the Terrence Steels what he was doing
in camp. So just these tackles, I mean, the interior
did their job pretty well. Besides, you know, the run,
I felt like I thought they would get more push
off the line of scrimmage. The interior of that uh,
(36:05):
the interior of that line's defensive line. I think got
more penetration than I expected. But those tackles just really
made it difficult for and that typically can navigate when
the tackles aren't playing well. It was that bad to
where his clock was so sped up, and if you
decided that you wanted to get anything downfield, good night,
because it just wasn't there. Even if it was there,
(36:27):
it wasn't there because the quarterback could not go through
his reads. And then also too, he was getting lit
up like a Christmas tree. Yeah, so what.
Speaker 14 (36:37):
He was.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
It was something we need to go write a letter.
But now the run game, the run game is an efficiency,
and then the passing game, you know, not being able
to hold up man, that's just that's it. I mean
their secondary had weaknesses there. Their linebackers could be had
and coverage and you could not block it up long
enough to take advantage. And that was it, girl, Yeah,
that was it. Injury depleted secondary and you couldn't do
(37:02):
it nothing. Yeah yeah, and just you.
Speaker 6 (37:05):
Know, having to to stall and settle for the field goals.
You cannot do that against Lions offense that has so
many weapons. You knew this was going to be a
high scoring game, and.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Yeah, yeah it was.
Speaker 7 (37:19):
See he didn't have his first target till that second
quarter too, And I thought with the injury right away,
like Christy had mentioned that they would kind of you know,
go crazy, but they didn't target him to the second
quarter and then as great as Flanoy had last night,
he is someone you target in that situation to me
(37:40):
as much as you did when CD goes out or
Pickings goes out.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
But they were targeting him early. It was like huh, okay.
Speaker 7 (37:48):
Again not to take anything away, but no, yeah, I
was just like, okay, but thirteen targets for Flinoy, regardless
if someone goes out or no, that's a lot.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
I was saying that to myself. Is like, you know,
they had a shot of the end zone to Flinoy
when they were down there, and I thought to myself, like, well,
you would rather that be a CD or a Pickens.
But at the same token, it sounds like listening to
Pickens last night. Like again, again watching the game, they
did some stuff on the back end that they hadn't
showed on film as consistently as far as doubling them having,
(38:20):
you know, bringing an extra safe, like the safeties were
really lurking. Brian Branch going out was huge in that game.
I thought that was would be a take advantage. But
to your point, early in that game, there were times
where I was like, why are you going to f
illinoy right here? Love Illinois?
Speaker 5 (38:32):
What are you going to flind right here?
Speaker 4 (38:34):
And I think it was based off of the matchups
and and also to what they were doing to take
away Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens, which they were really
more committed to taking away Pickens this game.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Yeah, and that didn't feel like it was just not Pickings.
Speaker 7 (38:50):
I feel like what he said after in the locker
room kind of stood out because I didn't like the
way Cowboys Nation will turn on them so quick?
Speaker 5 (38:58):
How many ago was everybody talking about last week? And
CD he got it.
Speaker 7 (39:04):
He's like like, what, Like, that's that's what's That's what's
actually funny about the situation, because they hate you one week,
they love you for the next, and that's just how
the game goes.
Speaker 5 (39:13):
The guys know the business.
Speaker 7 (39:14):
But I didn't like the way people were tearing him
down like, you know, he just doesn't care about the
game or whatever.
Speaker 5 (39:22):
But to what he said in the locker room was like.
Speaker 7 (39:26):
Look how you have to look at how they were
playing it compared to the past as well, because you know,
I think everyone here has grown to love Pickens for
who he is and his personality, and he's he's been
a menace.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Right, he was off game.
Speaker 7 (39:43):
But I feel like this was the same type of
you know, feels when CD had his bad game a
couple of weeks ago, Right, So I didn't I didn't
love that.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
I think I only think that's fair to Pickings how
they was tearing him up.
Speaker 6 (39:55):
Yeah, and look at how CD responded, Yeah, I'm off
that with his sponster game. So look out Minnesota, because
I think Pickens is gonna be.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
Yeah, he might, he might feast a little bit.
Speaker 7 (40:06):
But I think it was just all the people that
you needed to do to be great weren't great.
Speaker 5 (40:12):
And that's what happened.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (40:14):
We talked about it earlier in the segment where Dallas
has been able to come back and they have had
self inflicted wounds early and they had had very slow
starts and been able to make kind of miracles. But
you had those chunk plays from CD and Pickens to
set you up. You had Jake Ferguson lining you up
right in the red zone where you needed where you
(40:36):
could just have Javonte Williams running in and do what
he does. But Jake Ferguson is also someone we got
to talk about because that ball security say, that quote
was for you. You've been struggling with that consistently. That's
a problem. You're you're a leader of this team. You're
the number one tight end of this team. That can't
that can't happen in those moments. And then what made
it worse is when they're able to go score not
(40:57):
a field goal, but a touchdown from what you just did.
And it wasn't like some of the other turnovers where
it's bouncing around and like that was that was you.
Speaker 5 (41:07):
And he's one of the guys that you need to
be great and he wasn't.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
I think for George Pickens, what was more so disappointing
was the fact that he thrives in those one on
one matches or even contested catches getting doubled and you
didn't see that, I don't want to say urgency, but
you didn't see that like fire that he typically would
give you when he when you are matching him up
in double coverage. Like granted he was doubled a lot,
(41:31):
but I didn't see that same type of like pristiness.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
He wasn't strong enough at the catchpoint. Yeah, I'm sorry.
I mean, I'm not gonna sit up here and tear
of George Pickens. Absolutely a waste of time, but I
will say he was. I didn't. I thought he I
thought he could have been. I've seen him be stronger
at the catchpoint I have. I have seen him be
a little bit more physical at the top of routes.
I've seen him, you know, so again it could have been.
There's a lot of reasons why this could be. Again,
(41:57):
maybe he was thrown off by some of the looks
they were showing him and Stuf, but he's gonna look back,
even though you know they did some things different. He's
gonna look back as well, and I'm pretty sure he's
gonna feel like he needs to come on with it
a little bit. But another thing about George Pickens is
that that's a part of his tactics. He's a very
smart player, like and one thing that he does often
is has this lax of days a call body language,
(42:21):
but it's tactical in the sense that it really throws
off dbs. They don't know what to spect like sometimes
he just turns it on, turns it off, and I think,
you know, I think that was a part of Like
so this isn't too different than what we've seen from him,
But I do think he he's I've seen him play
through contact and things a little bit more physical than
(42:42):
I saw him last night, and that just is what
it is. I mean, guys are allowed to have a
bad game.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Absolutely, matchups, what matchups do you feel like the Cowboys
should have exploited.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
A little bit more.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
And has aloney and coverage Jake Ferguson, Yeah, I think
not even Jake Ferguson. I mean, they could have used
terped they could have like, what do you thing you think?
I think they could have attacked Azelonian covers. I think
they could have attacked the secondary more with big plays
trying to get them to at least to take one
of these guys out the dang box.
Speaker 6 (43:10):
Yeah, but but again it goes back to your point
of the past protection.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
It wasn't good enough. Yeah, it's who had a good
catch over anseloan, so I would like to see.
Speaker 12 (43:21):
Every week.
Speaker 5 (43:22):
Every week.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
I was like, oh, by star, let me just say
he got one with it. He got away with one
on special teams. He made the tackle I think it
was kickoff return right, and he shoves the guy. He
gets up, he shoves the guys.
Speaker 4 (43:35):
In the ground and it's like, how is that not?
Speaker 5 (43:38):
I was like, he's not a flag.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
And that's when Breed was you. That's when the crowd
and then they show it on the screen.
Speaker 7 (43:47):
That actually felt like a home game I have. I
feel like all these road trips have kind of felt
more for the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
Oh that in head.
Speaker 6 (43:56):
Yeah, And let me just say that the the it's
it's only seat sixty five thousand, and it's a smaller stadium.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
They're right on top of you.
Speaker 6 (44:04):
But the standing room only tickets were going for one
hundred and eighty five and up and the upper level
corners of the end zone way at the end were
two twenty and up. So that was it was an
outstanding crowd. It was a wide out. The Lions wore
their all white uniforms with the blue numerals and letters
(44:25):
and stripes, and they asked for a white out for
the crowd, and they had the white towels and Lions
Nation really really showed Temptations go ahead.
Speaker 4 (44:35):
We were singing of a little She was telling me.
Speaker 5 (44:37):
That she knows how to do this well.
Speaker 6 (44:39):
I went to Motown yesterday morning for the tour and
you go in the studio and the last thing that
they do is they teach you how to do the
Temptations walk, and then and then and then you have
to sing. And then you have to sing my Girl
while you're doing the Temptations walk, which by the way,
is two snowshovels to the left and two to the
right and to the left to the right, and while
(45:02):
you sing my Girl before they let you leaves.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
See, so you gotta find was the food good that part?
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (45:09):
No, Detroit?
Speaker 5 (45:11):
Listen all right?
Speaker 12 (45:13):
All right?
Speaker 2 (45:14):
I went.
Speaker 6 (45:15):
I went to Pentatonics Wednesday night, so I didn't get
dinner the pre game normal.
Speaker 7 (45:19):
At this I was like, I'll just eat a little
bit because you know, they feed us at halftime.
Speaker 5 (45:23):
I've been to so many stadiums.
Speaker 7 (45:25):
Okay, they put out checks mix and chips, y'all in
ice cream at halftime. There was no meal at halftime
do you know how hungry myself and this child I'm
caring were at halftime.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
I was so know you were hot. Everybody's like.
Speaker 7 (45:41):
I was looking at Joe from Channel I said, so
if we're losing it, alf do we just don't see?
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Like this was crazy.
Speaker 5 (45:49):
I was like I was looking like, I was like,
I know there's some snacks around here.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
Somewhere, and the Cowboys was starving for wine. I'm sorry
she had the transitions on spire.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
Someone can say something.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
I hated it.
Speaker 4 (46:03):
I hated the lost last night. This looks like a
team that's still just not there yet. They got some
pieces that they need to shure up. I think the
head coach is going to look at some of his
stuff as well, because say what you want to say,
you have been talking about it for a while, is
that these slow starts were going to dig yourself up
out of the whole. Because not only are you digging
(46:23):
yourself out of the whole of you lost games early
in the season and now you're trying to get to
the playoffs and you have to emotionally think this is
an elimination game every game. Then you also digging your
fit and you're really digging your hole out of these
games going down early. Brie has been saying that that's
going to be a problem all year, and this game,
when you're going up against an opponent that can score too,
(46:45):
you were not able to do it. I think that
this offense, as great as we think they are, they
have to find some consistency in the red zone, and
they also have to get off to better starts and
that's something that they need to work on as the
season goes on to the end.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
They have a short many bye week, got Friday, Saurday Sunday,
then a full week to get back right, get some
rest and recuperate for Minnesota Vikings team. So Cowboys, of course,
their future is out of their control. They just gotta
win out take each week game by game, and of
course I hope for the best from across the league.
Speaker 4 (47:20):
Chances, but you're telling me there's a chance. I'm gonna hope.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
So wow, Cowboys fall to the Detroit Lions in Week fourteen.
Speaker 5 (47:30):
Uh, that's a wrap for the show.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
The ladies.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
Cowboys six six and one in the season, looking for
a seventh win of the year.
Speaker 5 (47:36):
We're gonna be back next week.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
Today is Friday.
Speaker 5 (47:39):
Wee going Yeah, we'll be back next week.
Speaker 3 (47:43):

a great weekend. Thanks for watching for Breonna Aldrich, Christy Scales,
