The Cowboys come in looking for a better start, aiming to avoid a rusty opening versus the Broncos last Sunday. The Cardinals, on the other hand, are focused on finishing games better, tightening up late-game and making sure opponents don’t pull away. This game will hinge heavily on whether Dallas can get its run game going—especially with star back Javonte Williams—against a stiff Arizona front, then use that ground foundation to open up the down-field passing game. If Dallas succeeds in both phases, they’ll win. If Arizona’s defensive front holds them and stops chunk plays, the Cardinals have a chance to grind out the finish.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
This is Girls Talk, Boys Talk, presented by Invisi Line,
trusted by over five hundred NFL players for their winning smiles,
and broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star.
Now your host, Nicole Hutchison.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Wake Up, Cowboys Nation, Welcome in a Girls Talk Boys
Talk presented by visil Line in the SWEC studio. I'm
Nicole Hutchinson alongside Christie Scales Aisha Morrison.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
We are missing our girl Bree. She will be back
with us next week. But ladies, how y'a doing this morning?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
We got.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Come on Chris, Oh yeah, he knows.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
Good job Chrish. Yeah, he's he's been converted. She's influenced too.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
I feel like I've influenced y'all too. You know. It's
it's great, it's fine. Well, you know what else is great?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
The fact that Perry On Winfrey his twenty one day
practice window has been opened as of yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Thoughts on that.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I mean, I actually did get a quick second with him.
He was rushing to get in the shower, but he
said that he was expecting to be back a little sooner,
but he told me that he's just happy to be back.
He's been kind of putting in some extra work with
that back, some extra core work, running a lot more.
So he fills one hundred percent right now. So glad
to have him back, ladies, which y'all.

Speaker 6 (01:33):
Think, Oh, I thought he was one of the pleasant
stories of training camp. Absolutely, and to have him go
on ir at the beginning of the regular season, you know,
you look back and you say it was a blow,
and you look at the depth at defensive.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Tackle, and week to week it's.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Been a coach's decision as to whether or not it's
going to be Mozzie Smith or j Toya, right, And
so I think you put Winfrey in the mix there,
you know, and have him play there behind Osa and
Kenny Clark and along with Solomon Thomas, and it can
only help, that's for sure. I mean, just look at
the run defense what's been happening, and also the way

(02:13):
that he was creating some pressure in preseason and the limit.
Now I know, you're going against the backups along the
defensive line and you're not showing everything, certainly in regards
to pass rush in preseason but I say it can
only help.

Speaker 7 (02:26):
Yeah, he's incredibly just naturally gifted. His length and his
size is something that stood out, like you said, Christy
during preseason, during training camp, and I mean there were
times like his length really to me gave some of
your interior you're better in tierior players issues and practices
and stuff. So definitely want to, you know, get to

(02:48):
see him get involved on the inside. And what is
interesting about Parryon is like, despite the fact that he's
not like this huge guy. He is a big guy,
but he's not a traditional nose to but because of
the length and all that stuff, he is able to
kind of beat guys off those their spots. His foot
quickness is a little bit faster than a lot of

(03:09):
interior players. So it'd be cool to see if he
can translate that into games, you know, into like you know,
in game and from what we saw in Frankman camp.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
Yeah, and that's one of the things that you see
over the years is as the game evolves is you know,
you used to be your your two defensive tackles if
you played a four to three. I mean, those guys
were the human speed bumps, right, just big and and
the athleticism of these guys now and as you say,
just the length and so it could be interesting, but

(03:42):
it also just a reminder, Winfrey is the heartwarming story
from at the roster cuts right at the end of
camp and he was brought into coaches office and he
thinks he's going to get cut. This is a guy
who came from USFL and UFL excuse me, and it's like, oh,
you made the team and he started, you know, he

(04:03):
broke down a little bit and make coach break down.

Speaker 8 (04:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
So so it's.

Speaker 6 (04:06):
Really a great story, are they Why do they do
him like that?

Speaker 7 (04:12):
I would just stressed out, like because he thought he
he was so anxious and he started taking his people
and mean he's a hut.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Yeah, that would tress me out too.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
Yeah, you think it's going to be on the hard knocks.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I don't know something.

Speaker 7 (04:26):
Yeah, well, yeah, he gotta do something.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
You gotta do something.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
And Chrispy may be able to help us on that.
Were they rolling as early as that at the end
of August. I don't know, but if he does do something,
they can certainly at least have the story told. If
they don't have the exact footage of him being in there.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Okay, they weren't rolling. They were not rolling it.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
They don't show up until right around Thanksgiving.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Yeah, so it's going to be towards the end of
the season. Then, well that sucks. I know, it's kind
of the end of the season hard knocks.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Kind how it works, well, we talked about it a
little bit yesterday, but I know we're supposed to be
sticking with Cowboys offense Arizona defense. But while we're on
the topic of defensive tackles, I know we mentioned it
yesterday of just kind of that interior defensive line has
kind of well with OSA specifically hasn't really lived up
to the standard this season. But Chrissy, I do want

(05:21):
to know your thoughts, like what's what's kind of your
thoughts on the way that this interior defensive line has
played well.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
I think that Solomon Thomas has been a great addition,
and I would argue that he's been the most consistent.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
I don't know if y'all were in agreement on that,
I mean week to week, and.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
That's what do you think absolutely, I mean, even with
the addition of Kenny Clark, I mean, you saw the
presence that he now brings to that interior, but I
mean you've had some ups and downs a little bit.
He actually spoke yesterday in locker room and kind of
at he was asked, how do you execute? Because coaches,
you know, in the co ordinators have talked about you know,

(06:02):
it starts with.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Practice, right, and he was like, I mean, speaking for.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Myself, I feel like I've been prepared, but it just comes.
It goes down to the way that everybody's preparing, of
course to the weekend. So I don't know if that
was maybe an underlying message I was kind of grasping
from that.

Speaker 6 (06:17):
But yeah, well I also think Nicole, when someone like
Osa when they hit their big payday, yeah, rightly or wrongly,
mainly rightly, the expectations go up from the fan base
and the media, and I would say internally as well,
because they I think it's added pressure for most of them,
the ones who play the right way and care and

(06:40):
aren't just doing it for a paycheck, right, but doing
it for their teammates and everything. But just look at
the numbers and the way that they have not been
able to consistently stop the run, if at all, And
that's going to be a priority this week.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
It is every week. That's such a truism.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Sorry to be so tried, but yeah, but you could
go across the whole line. I would say the ends
aren't playing up.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
You know this.

Speaker 6 (07:10):
I thought Sam Williams would really cash in this year.
I really did, and I think we talked about it
earlier in the week. That's not to say it's not
going to happen in the second half of the season,
beginning with Monday Night in week nine, but we hadn't
seen it yet and they know it. That's you're to
your point. They were all talking about that yesterday.

Speaker 7 (07:30):
No oh no, Christy, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
But not But but I do appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
You know, they're answering the questions.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I think honestly and thoughtfully.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
Absolutely, Yeah, there's a lot of I guess I wouldn't
say disappointment. Maybe it is disappointment is across this defensive line,
Like Christy said, like I personally expected a little bit
more from Dante Fowler absolutely turning back to Dallas after
having a big year with the Washington Commanders, Like it
just hasn't. Marshaw Kneelan is a gentleman that I was

(08:04):
looking to take a step this year. He's obviously dealt
with injuries, but I mean, we haven't even gotten to
see him on the field consistently to get a grasp
of like his growth and development. It just to your point, Christy,
definitely the defensive tackles. Not playing well as a collective
has hurt you, but also too your ends. And that

(08:25):
rotation is something you know when Shoddy mentioned the other day,
like there will be changes and stuff like that. I
wonder if we start seeing there's more certain gentlemen are
playing longer snaps, or that rotation starts to become less
of that heavy rotation, and you just if you're playing
out there, then you really are the best guys that

(08:46):
we feel like right now.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
And I just like to add one more point to
some of the names that we mentioned with Sam and
Mauzie and Marshaw Neelan. The reason why I mentioned those
three guys in particular is if this is a draft
and developed team and you're committing high picks at that position,
you have to have them pay off because ad nauseum

(09:10):
we have heard about the investment financially in the offensive
side of the ball, that's where the money goes, and
rightfully so, when you've got those star players, right, and
you want to be able to resign to George Pickens.
All of you are saying, trade them now so you
can get something. Have you lost your mind? Watch the games?
Look at what a difference he has made. But when

(09:32):
you have that kind of investment, or potentially going to
invest even more by bringing by hopefully resigning someone like
a George Pickens, or continuing, you know, like Tyler Booker
this year, investing in the offensive line, you have to
have those draft and developed players on the defensive side
of the ball pay off. And frankly it hasn't happened

(09:54):
over the last few years, and it is killing this team.

Speaker 8 (09:56):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
I'm sacking tired of this trade talks with George Pickens.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
It's because it's weird.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
It's weird, Like well, I mean I don't like it.
Granted love everybody who's who was on the beat.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
They're great, great guys, but I do not like the talk.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
You just went from trying to figure out your offense
last last year. I mean hell, even the year before.
Technically you figured out later in the year, but you
had pieces like you had Brandon Cooks, you had CD Lamb,
you had all these guys. Jake Ferguson playing his best
year of his career. I mean, but then last year,
of course, you were kind of handed basically bare bones,

(10:32):
and said, hey, figure it out. But now you've got
all these weapons, and you finally figured it out.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
So don't don't what's they say? What it's they say, like,
don't If it ain't broke.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
Don't fix it.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
That's what I'm looking for. If it ain't broke, don't
freaking fix it.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
So yeah, I would say, bird in the hand, right,
Pickens is a bird in the hand if you can shoot.
It may cost thirty million dollars on average per year
to resign him, but oh my gosh, what a been
and what a difference he's made with all the big plays.
And we'll talk more about that tomorrow. We're gonna focus
more on defense today. But come on, but again, you

(11:09):
have to have those young guys that you've been invested
that draft capital and payoff, and they just to this
point haven't performed to the expected level, at least not yet.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Yeah, we're gonna talk about Cowboys offense.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
We're gonna stick with that today and later, and we'll
actually next in the second we've got a He's just insights,
the one and only the best part of the show
coming up after the break. We're gonna take our first

Welcome back in the Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented by
in visit Line Nicole Hutchison, Christy Scales, a Isha Morson.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
It's trying to break down.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
This Cowboys offense, taking down Arizona defense and uh.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
Aisha, what you got? What's yeah? What you got? I'll
save my questions for after.

Speaker 8 (14:25):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yeah, no, you're good. You get Uh.

Speaker 7 (14:29):
This is an interesting unit when you start looking into
the unit, because if you just looked at the stats
and stuff, you would be like, oh, okay, they do
some they do some things, well they stop the run,
well there are To me, they're a pretty sound defense.
But they are not a flashy defense. They're not going
to do a whole bunch of You're not gonna have

(14:49):
a lot of big plays or splash plays, but they're
gonna play you pretty straight up and and yeah, and
they have some guys on each level. They got a
couple of guys that play really well on each level,
which kind of helps things work. They are under defensive
coordinator Nick Rawlis. He was the linebackers coach with Philly
before coming over to Arizona. He's been with Arizona since

(15:11):
twenty twenty three. The way that their system is, it's
like it's kind of an aggressive system. Both of their
defensive line is a defensive line that's really looking to
stop the run. And you see that in the pass
rush numbers, and you see that in the lack of
pass rush numbers. Is that they are really dead set
on stopping the run. So when you start getting into

(15:33):
the statistics, this is their Russian defense is yards per
game is twelfth with one hundred point nine yards per game.
Passing yards per game they are twenty fifth. They will
give up about two hundred and thirty five yards in
the past. But I will say in the red zone,
when you start looking at in the red zone, they're fifteenth.

(15:54):
They tighten up a little bit when they get down
there again, just the kind of bend, don't break type defense.
When you look at how they how they decide to
do things. We talk about their defensive line, they're at
twenty second in pressure rate. They're not getting to the
quarterback that much like do we over here with fuzz
and inviting about Dallas and honestly, Dallas is getting more

(16:14):
pressure on the offense than they are. They are eleventh
and Russian efficiency. All that means is that you know,
when teams try to run the ball on them, they're
not seeing a crap ton of success. That's the thing
again that stands out the most is how their linebackers
and their defensive line will come and stand up in
the run. They are also sixth on third down. Dallas

(16:35):
has been one of the better teams on third down,
but we have seen them struggle in this last couple
of weeks. To continue to sustain drives and stay ahead
of the change. That's gonna be important in this game,
because again, this isn't an Arizona defense is gonna do
a whole bunch of flashy stuff, but they are gonna
make you have to work for most plays. Like they're
not gonna give up a crap ton of explosive plays

(16:57):
and they're gonna make you have to work really hard
to matre late downfield.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
You have anything, Christy that you.

Speaker 6 (17:02):
Yeah, I would just say, you know, with their their
they are good on third down.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
And that's something that Shotty talked about yesterday, is you know,
having to win on first down, not be in the
long down and distance. We talk about it ad nauseum
on this show. But and and uh, they do commit
to the run, and we talk about play action and
making sure that you have the defense respect that.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
But I thought that Shoty made.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
A point yesterday when he was talking about his own offense,
saying that you have to win on first down so
that it's not second in forever that you give up
the play action because they know you have to pass
the ball. But I do have one one question for
you in regards to when you watched Arizona, because Tucker

(17:51):
Craft of Green Bay just absolutely killed them, particularly in
the second half of that narrow loss by the Cardinals
two weeks ago.

Speaker 5 (17:59):
Of course they had there by week this past week,
but it's you know, how do you think that that.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
Is in regards to matchups with Jake Ferguson getting back
on track this week after going without a catch last week.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
Well, yeah, I really it's gonna be important for this
offensive line to play better because going into last week's game,
even so, you're looking at the Denver linebackers and you're like, oh, yeah,
these guys play the run well, but there are some
areas you can attack him in the past. And that's
something that you're that you see when you talk about
this Cardinals defense, is that their second level. Whereas you

(18:35):
know Wilson is fantastic against the run. He will come
up and tackle and Phil they struggle and coverage as
a unit, and so I think that's where you saw
took a Craft be able to get after it a
little bit.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
Also too, when they go into their nickel package.

Speaker 7 (18:51):
It is not I wouldn't say that this gentleman is
just like a liability. With their slot corner Thompson, he
can sometimes get a little twisted in the side. He's
a little I think his size is decent, but going
up against a guy like a Jake Ferguson, I do
think he could beat him off the spot. Dallas obviously
obviously Denver committed to stopping Jake Ferguson last week. They

(19:14):
were really I was surprised at how many times you
saw them kind of shade a guy over to him.
They were not gonna let him beat you in the
middle of the field. And attack in the middle of
the field opens up everything. I need Dallas and dak
to be able to hit that this week because they
weren't able to get it last week. Yeah, no, I
agree with you. That was something I wanted to talk about.
It's like they weren't able to take advantage of some

(19:36):
of the linebacker coverage issues against Denver last week. Is
that something that they're gonna be able to do at home?
Are they going to focus on it this game?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
My question is more so the Cowboys offensive line, just
because they have a guy named Josh Sweat over there.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
He can play. I think he can play a little bit.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Yeah, I'm just saying, but no talking about him and
the challenge that he brings to a guy like Terrence Steele,
who's had some ups and down this year. But I mean,
like I said, he's had some moments. But does it
give you a little confidence that you know last.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
Week, Uh, they were able to obviously hold this.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Denver Broncos defensive lines are just two sacks one of
the best pass rushing teams in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Granted, two sacks is still not a good number, but
does it give you a little bit more confidence? You
know that they did do that heading into this.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Let me just say that.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
Let me just say that this that was a case
last week where stats lied. Yeah, because the pass rush
was very effective and affecting, affecting a dack.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
He was harassed all day. It's true. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Let me let me also say.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
You asked was are you encouraged?

Speaker 7 (20:43):
I'm encouraged that this defensive line a Denver's defense.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
Yeah, hello you hear me?

Speaker 7 (20:49):
Yeah, Like, don't get and don't get it twisted like no.
Josh Sweat is a guy we're familiar with.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
We'll play with Philly for a little bit.

Speaker 7 (20:56):
He has seven tackles for lost on the year, five
sacks on the year. But Kalaeis Campbell was another gentleman
who is still kicking you. Hear me. He got that
old man street and what they'll do, I mean obviously
stopping the run. He's just he's a handful on how
he can get up on your guards and your tackles.
They will move him across that defensive line and when
they move him in the inside, kind of some of that.

(21:18):
We're kind of just talking about Perreon. Like Obvioicely, Perion
is not a Colaus Campbell, but body type length, powerful,
but also has some speed, can move on the inside,
do some things. He can play the game like that.
He has five tackles for lost on the season and
three three sacks. I feel like he isn't Also a
matchup that I worry about when you talk about this

(21:39):
Dallas offensive line. I think him and Tyler Booker, that's
gonna be a heck of a matchup to watch. The
rookie's gonna have his hands full.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
I'd like to I just want to put something in perspective.
Well on Kalaiis Campbell. Now, now Kalais Campbell, I mean,
the dude's thirty seven years old. He's this is, excuse me,
thirty nine years old, and this is his eighteenth season.

Speaker 5 (22:04):
So just to put it, just to put in perspective.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
When he was drafted, the Cowboys had two first round
picks that year.

Speaker 5 (22:13):
This how long ago?

Speaker 6 (22:14):
This was when kalay Is Campbell entered the league. Felix
Jones and Mike Jenkins.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Does that feel like a long time ago?

Speaker 6 (22:21):
It was, and this guy is still doing it and
at a high level as the starter, and you know,
not just a rotation piece coming in and working in
and just like in past rush situations, I mean the guy.
This will be his two hundred and fiftieth career start
in the NFL at that position where your body gets

(22:44):
beat to heck every week. And those two hundred and
fifty career starts are the most of all the active players.
And you say, oh, it hasn't been Aaron Rogers older
and hasn't he been in the league longer? Well, he
has one more start and he has been in the
league longer. But remember he sat for a few years
behind Brett Farr. So kalaiis Campbell. He is also seven

(23:08):
years older than his defensive coordinator. And I'm so glad
Aisha mentioned Nick Rawlss because this is a wonder kid
when it comes to NFL coaching. He was only twenty
seven years old as a position coach when he was
on Sirianni's staff and working under John at the Gannon
who was the defensive coordinator. So yeah, this is it's

(23:33):
Schottenheimer mentioned Rawless yesterday, and he was only twenty nine
when he was named defensive coordinator, as Ayisha said in
twenty twenty three. So yeah, I mean literally, Kalaias Campbell
is seven years older than his coordinator.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
That's amazing, That's wow, that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
Well, I remember, that's crazy.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
Two extremes. A really old player and a really young coach.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
That yeah, I think is in he's he's kind of
an anomalate. It's a testament to how he takes care
of his body. He takes care of himself. I would
not be just intent on trying to run the ball
over there at him. However, I would attack the other end.
And I think Dante Stills is a fine player, but

(24:20):
as far as getting stealed on the outside, that's something
that he struggled with and being able to set the
edge on that side. Also to I would hope that
Dallas forces their cornerbacks to come up and tackle. We
haven't talked about the secondary much, but this is a
pretty this is a pretty young secondary. There's some inexperience

(24:41):
in there too. Will Johnson, you know, the rookie, he's
playing really good football. I know a lot of people
get worried about taking a corner early like that. But
he's he's came out in his rookie season and really
translated a lot of what we saw on the college
tape to the NFL. Obviously, Buddha Baker's out there. These

(25:02):
two the two safeties for them, I think play some
pretty good football now. Buddha, because he is aggressive, he
will get caught peeking in the backfield. I think Dallas
will be able to take advantage of getting him to bite.
Sometimes that's just who he is. I don't think he's
gonna change. He's been this way for a while. He's
he's gonna he's a missile in the run game when
he comes down and helps and feels. But when you
play like that, sometimes from that position, guys can get

(25:25):
caught looking in the backfield every now and then.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
What you got?

Speaker 3 (25:28):
I was gonna ask, what do you Obviously we've talked
about the opportunities in the secondary. You mentioned that the
Cowboys can attack. But I have the opening drive for
the Dallas Cowboys against Denver last week.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Obviously they get the ball at the Dallas forty eight.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
They mix in a little bit of Brevin span Ford.
He gets a nine yard pickup, Davonte Williams gets a
first down, tay back and forth, they get clamb of
course involved. They get down to the goal line and
of course only settle for a field goal. Of course
that was because of a penalty on Rock Kaufman. False
star pa there. But when you look at the opening

(26:02):
series for Dallas, how do you want them to I'd
say we can say.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
Scripted, I would say, oh, best way, no, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
I I don't know.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
I mean they were effective moving it as long as
you don't have the self inflicted wounds right.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
And by the way, I know.

Speaker 6 (26:19):
It was called on Hoffman, but unfair to Hoffman because
it was Geton who flinched.

Speaker 7 (26:25):
She had to fix that. Also. As a matter of fact,
while we were talking about penalties, I had to correct
myself from yesterday. The Airsona Cardinals are eighteenth and penalties
with fifty four.

Speaker 6 (26:35):
Yeah, and you mentioned Will Johnson. He had three of
them against the Packers, and one of them was a
you know, when you're in press covery, like right up
on the line, like press coverage and hands to the face,
So that I think that could be really interesting pickings.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
No, I'm against him glad, but I'm sorry against him. Noah,
I didn't mean to get a track there.

Speaker 7 (26:56):
No, no, no, that's that's that's on track. That was
something that I wanted to mention is that he is
a rookie. Yeah, he's still a nugget and there and
that's one of the again, that was one of the
elements of his game come out of college. This is
a press corner. He is not afraid to get up
in your face and try to redirect you and jam
at the line of scrimmish. But sometimes if you are
going up against another savvy veteran, then they can make

(27:18):
you pay. And I think that's something Pickings can do
against him. But what was we talking about?

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Oh oh no, I just asked open.

Speaker 7 (27:28):
Yeah, Dalla's gotta run the ball better. Yeah, that's gotta
run the ball better. I understand, you know kind of
some of the things that that happened you talked about,
you know, the false starts and stuff like that. But
Dallas has to win the line of skirmish better in
this upcoming game. That's really one of the biggest differences
in the in their losses and their wins, or their
bad losses and their wins is their ability to run

(27:49):
the ball. It's just something that balance and them not
being one dimensional is gonna be pivotal in this game
for them to get better, for them to establish the
ground game early or try to at the released.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Do y'all see Brevin span Ford getting a lot of
action in this game.

Speaker 7 (28:05):
In the run obviously, yeah, heck yeah girl, But in
you know, as a receiver. I just don't know. How
do you feel I want them to. I feel like
he's capable, But what is it that is keeping them
from from well?

Speaker 6 (28:19):
Okay, C d Lamb, George Pickens, by Jake Ferguson, Cavante
Turpin and Javonte Williams running the ballas No, I'm no really,
although one thing that I just he he's so tall,
He's such a physical mismatch.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
How long have we been saying, ooh in the red zone,
I beg of thee.

Speaker 6 (28:41):
Yeah, but at the same time, you're not gonna throw
it to Pickens or CD down there, No, I mean
really or Jake Ferguson, who by the way, leads NFL
tight ends and touchdowns catch people off.

Speaker 7 (28:54):
Surprise, because if you're trying to do some trickery though,
you know, yeah, he yeah, but.

Speaker 6 (29:01):
But any any incompletion to brevn Span four down there,
and everybody will be why no, I no, I really
I really want It's kind of funny because Princeton fant,
who's practice squad tight end, We kind of have a
little pregame joke now down on the sideline before warm ups,
and it's like it's like, who's gonna get the touchdowns today.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
You know, at at tight end?

Speaker 6 (29:25):
And and I always keep saying it's gonna be Brevin's day,
It's gonna be Brevin's stay. And then Jake takes all
of them, you know, so, but maybe could be Monday
night have his have his breakout game on Monday night
football on a national stage.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
That's really cool?

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Is that a bull?

Speaker 5 (29:41):
Takers?

Speaker 10 (29:42):
What?

Speaker 8 (29:42):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Let me think about it when.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
We do tomorrow, think about it. Yeah, yeah, Well we'll
have our farmer's dog dog at the game.

Speaker 7 (29:52):

Girls so Boys Talk presented by visitl Line, Nicole Hutcherson,
Christy Scales, Aiha Morrison and I need biggest key of
the game for.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
The Dallas Cowboys. What you got, Aysha?

Speaker 7 (33:14):
Well, there's a couple of things that I was being
ely because I was looking and there's a couple of
things that stand out about this Cardinals defense. Amazing stuff
came out the other week from uh, the Phoenix Cardinals. Yeah,
there's that people. I'm there's that people. And this just

(33:38):
talks about the the Arizona Cardinals and defensively and how
poorly they've played in the fourth quarter. First three quarters
of play there their fourth in the NFL up until
last week, their fourth in the NFL with seventy eight
points scored, and then you get into the fourth quarter,
their last in the NFL with seventy six points scored
in the fourth quarter. Got to hear little bit from

(34:01):
defensive coordinator Nick Rollis yesterday about this, and he just said, like,
that's something we're really looking at, trying to close games better.
So you when we were talking about you know, Dallas
starting better and making sure that they're cashing in in
these red zone trips, you got a Arizona team that
is looking to try to figure out how to finish games.

(34:21):
And that's and that's something that's really cool, Christy, because
I feel like in my time as being an analyst,
and I know we've talked about is that's a skill.
Finishing games is a skill like closing out games is
something that teams have to sometimes learn. And when you
look at the Cardinals, they have literally lost so many
games close because they can't close out games. And so

(34:43):
is that going to show its head in this game,
we'll see you know.

Speaker 6 (34:45):
I think part of that is you need in the
fourth quarter your stud pass rusher to step up and
look at what Mica did in that fourth quarter, and
when you know Arizona's most recent life boss, you know,
the stud players step up and make the plays.

Speaker 5 (35:05):
And as good and as solid as Arizona is, they're kind.

Speaker 6 (35:09):
Of meat and potatoes. I agree with what Ayisha said earlier.
You know, they're very solid, but they're not flashy, and
they don't they haven't really made the big plays. And
they also have just been middle of the pack when
it comes to takeaways. You know, they only have seven
takeaways for the entire season, so a catalytic player or

(35:30):
a catalytic play hasn't really happened for them in the
fourth quarter, and it's really hurt them.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Sometimes that can be beneficial though, like when you're so simple,
you know, but like I usually I made a good
point earlier.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Still sets them up for success. Or Christy, when we're.

Speaker 6 (35:46):
Talking sure offline, Yeah, that's not an insult to say
meat and potatoes.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
Believe me, I will take meat and I will be
salad right now.

Speaker 7 (35:55):
Okay, come on, Christy is tire y'all hurt my Christie,
he is sick.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
And she said, I would take them salad salad with
like some chicken on like Asian bat dressing.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
But no, it's fact. And granted we can't, you know,
blame the offense for you know, of course their struggles.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
But you know, I just think that I take the
lack of big plays and the highlight real worthy plays
in a win.

Speaker 5 (36:29):
Absolutely, and I think we saw it.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
It's basically Shotty said that.

Speaker 7 (36:34):
He said he said it in a very animated way,
but he said, I don't care about none of them
stats if we're not winning games. Pickens has said that
as well. Sure they teams players want to win games.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
Well, but here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
Arizona's defense has set the up. They've had the ball
on off Jacobi Prissette has had opportunities on the final
passes of the game the past.

Speaker 5 (36:56):
Two games for them to win.

Speaker 6 (36:58):
So the defense for Arizona, it did do enough to
set up their offense to have a chance and you
know passes incomplete in the in the end zone.

Speaker 7 (37:08):
Yeah, so they got some key. I mean, I know
we're gonna get more information on, but they do have
some key like pass rusher guys and stuff like Darius
Robin Robinson comes to mind that you know, is dealing
with a pectorial when you talk about the catalytic player,
that's what they drafted him to be. So they some
of those guys that I think that they were looking
at to come in and be those guys like you know,

(37:30):
Joshua misses his roadie. Yeah, it happens like that.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
I feel it. Well, what's something that has to happen
for Dallas offense to have success?

Speaker 7 (37:39):
It is going for me, ladies, It's gonna be them
being able to run the ball against some of these
stacked boxes. When you look at the Carolina game, when
you look at the Bears game, you look at some
of these games where Dallas has struggled to stop the
run this past I mean to run the ball last week. Also,

(38:00):
you're talking about there being five or more defensive linemen
at the line of scrimmage, and I think that that's
partially because of the you got guys kind of being inserted,
you know, through the season as guys getting healthier or
you know, guys being taken away, but also too that's
just something Dallas has struggled against and we talk about
the Arizona Cardinals. They are fifth and having fifth in

(38:21):
the NFL and having five or more defensive linemen at
the line of scrimmage in the rang game, and so
for Dallas and with them a lot of the time
that could be a linebacker. You'll see Browning come from depth,
You'll see him knife through and be able to do
somethings stopping to run. Also too, we talked about Wilson
as well. Like Mac Wilson, he is someone that can

(38:43):
get to the other hash like these guys have some
sidelines to sideline speed when it comes to stopping the run.
So for me, it's gonna be Dallas picking up Arizona's
rum blitzes and also dak navigating when they do bring
five or more linemen, you know who's dropped being who's
actually blitzing the offensive lines. Communication is going to have

(39:04):
to be better. They struggled this past week. Are they
going to be better at home? But this is a
hump that this Dallas run game needs to get over,
because this is a little bit of a trend. Is
when they see teams that load the.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
Box a little bit more that they're struggling to move
the ball.

Speaker 6 (39:17):
Yeah, yeah, Shoddy said, you know, they do play a
lot of multiple fronts, and sometimes they'll even bring in
three safeties.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (39:24):
If they load the box, boy, you can pop some
big plays. You get your blockers to this second level.
So this is actually a potential game where you get
the long runs as your big plays. If you can
just handle that those guys up front and get to
the second level, then.

Speaker 5 (39:40):
Boom your crew.

Speaker 6 (39:41):
And I would just add one more thing, Nicole, and
that is you know, traditionally in football you say, oh,
the run sets up the pass.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
But I love Ayosha's point on this.

Speaker 6 (39:52):
This could be a game where the pass, you know,
going over, you know, making them you know, Ben sets
up the run because okay, we can't stat the box.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
Yeah right, I like it.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Yeah, oh sorry, no, girl.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Well, I was looking at.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Javonte Williams's numbers with defenders in the box, and he
has a with six or few guys fewer guys in
the box, he has a success rate of twenty three
percent one touchdown. When there's seven defenders in the box,
he has a nineteen percent success rate one touchdown, but
also two hundred yards and then a stack box eight plus.

(40:28):
In the box he has a fifteen percent, six touchdowns
and seventy five yards, which is.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Kind of nuts.

Speaker 7 (40:36):
So yeah, to your point, No, no, that's a fantastic
thank you for that. Thank you for the additional stats
to kind of verify that it does make it tougher
to run. But oh, if you if he can time, yeah.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
Just get the second level and get passed.

Speaker 7 (40:52):
Yeah, it's jacks. If Dak had some time last week,
there were some opportunities to attack down the field and
also to at that second level too. But I love
your point that you may Christie about some of the
big runs that you think will be there. We got
to see Jaydon Blue get after it a little bit
last week. I feel like his explosiveness could be helpful

(41:13):
in this game. Again, we know the fumble and all
this stuff, you know, you know, but I think that
his speed could be helpful in attacking again the perimeter
of this Cardinals defense and having those corners. Making those corners. Now,
Will Johnson will come.

Speaker 5 (41:29):
Up and tap.

Speaker 7 (41:29):
I ain't talking about him. I'm talking about talking about
the other guys, having them come up and have it
to help out in the run.

Speaker 4 (41:36):
Who on this offensive line has the biggest task.

Speaker 5 (41:40):
You know, Cooper BB gonna be back this week. I
I mean that's very well, could happen.

Speaker 7 (41:48):
Happy that will be a boost for this Dallas, this
Dallas offensive line. I think Hoffman has played some fantastic football,
but I think you get a little bit more power,
a little bit more anchor from that center position with
a Cooper BB. He is gonna have to acclimate like
he has to have. He has to trust that that ankle,
he has to you know. But I would say, to

(42:09):
answer your question, Nicole, to me, it's gonna be I
really think, well, everybody gonna get some with na Ground.
But if he is predominantly lined up against Booker, that
is a heck of a matchup for your rookie to see.
Because Kalais Campbell got a tool bag and so this
is this, This is gonna be a matchup that's gonna

(42:30):
test Tyler.

Speaker 5 (42:31):
Booker a lot.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
Tyler Booker's played some of his best ball this season.
Of course, fresh off one of his better games against
Denver allowed to I think I believe to pressures on
forty six pass blocking snaps. So uh, certainly loving what
we're seeing from t book But Christy what you got.

Speaker 6 (42:48):
I mean, now, if I were along the offensive line, yeah,
I mean if BB comes back, that that's huge. Yeah,
I agree, that is going to be a fun matchup
the old school new school Campbell and Booker.

Speaker 5 (43:08):
But I'd like to like to see Terrence Steele rebound
this week.

Speaker 9 (43:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:12):
The tackles.

Speaker 7 (43:13):
I think the tackles with how you brought up the
safeties and how they like to blitz the safeties and
some of the stuff they like to do. The tackles
and the running backs and whoeverre gonna have their hands full,
because like.

Speaker 6 (43:26):
Yeah, yeah, this is one and this is one where
when we talk about this is including the backs. You know,
Javonte Williams or of Jade and Blue is out there.
Identification is super important. When Buddha bakers, you know which
gap he's coming in, if and when they send him. So,
so let's talk about this collectively and not just the

(43:48):
five guys up front.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
Well about in the passing game, probably nobody, but.

Speaker 6 (43:52):
Yeah, yeah, I just uh the way that Craft and
Uh exposed him in the fourth quarter. I just I
also was with Jake Ferguson in an event on Tuesday.
By the way, Uh, congratulations to Jake for being nominated
for leaguewide for Salute to Service, and we're outed Medal

(44:13):
of Honor Museum on Tuesday and great to see him
interact with all those junior high kids in our Medal
of Honor winner on Tuesday. So maybe I'm being a
little sentimental, but I'm gonna go with Jake.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
Okay, Okay, in.

Speaker 7 (44:27):
The passing, I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say Sea Lamb
and Pickens, I'm gonna say, you get one.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
And I'm just kidding, Okay, Well, I'm just.

Speaker 5 (44:41):
Well, she can take one, and I have a feeling
you're gonna take the other. Well really, and if you don't,
I will along with Jake.

Speaker 7 (44:49):
Dallas has been better as an offense. I think the
communication is better. I think all those things, like guys
just settle in better, and I think Dak will be
able to see things better this game and diagnose with
a line of scrimmage and take advantage when they decide
to blitz when they decide to, because if they're not
getting pressure the way they want to, they're going to.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
Yeah, I mean, I'm gonna go George Pickens. I'm tired,
that's fine.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
Yeah, seventeen of his third down or fourth down conversions catches,
I'm sorry have been for first downs.

Speaker 4 (45:19):
He leads the NFL in that, so yeah, keep targeting GP.
Let him eat. You see what I do say?

Speaker 5 (45:25):
I love that?

Speaker 4 (45:26):
Yeah, he let him eat.

Speaker 7 (45:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
Great, hope of the Cowboys offense can eat against Arizona
because we need a win. We need to win heading
into the bye I need to have them to have
all the momentum they can get coming back out of
the buy.

Speaker 5 (45:39):
And I'm tired of salad, that too, Christy sick.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
It's all good, all right, that's a wrapper they show.
We'll be back here tomorrow at eight am for.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
Chrissy Scales, Icehan Wars and I'm the caud just said
we'll see y'all.

Speaker 4 (45:50):
Back here tomorrow.
