Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
This is Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented by invisilone, trusted
by over five hundred NFL players for their winning smiles,
and broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star.
Now your host, Nicole Hutchison.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Good Morning, Cowboys Nation. Welcome into Girls Talkboys Talk, presented
by a visit Line here in the SWBC studio. I'm
Nicole Hutcheson alongside Breonna Aldridge, Christie Scales, Aisha Morrison.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Ladies, we finally got.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
NFL football back and the Cowboys back. Unfortunately, the Cowboys
falling to the Eagles in Week one.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
A close ballgame pretty much all night.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
But I mean there were some mistakes, a lot of
opportunities left on the field, and you talk about Dak Prescott,
first game back since November, a lot of storylines, deepensive line.
Of course, some struggles there. But Christy, I'm just gonna
start with you. You're on the sidelines. The team, obviously
they felt coming in they had a lot of confidence.

Speaker 6 (01:16):
Right, but they did. Yeah, yeah, great atmosphere and a
lot of swagger from the offensive line, especially the young
guys at the offensive line, absolutely love that atmosphere was charged.
It's exactly what the league wanted for this season opener,
and I know that with the loss. Brian Schottenheimer said
after the game that there are no moral victories that

(01:37):
were in to win and win championships. But even though
there may be no moral victories, this one kind of
felt a little bit like one, I think for a
lot of fans, and I think this team surprised a
lot of doubters. But Nicole, I think you're right in
regards to the missed opportunities, because it was the self

(01:58):
inflicted wounds in the so and half and the defense
they got a couple of key stops there in the
fourth quarter. They set the offense up and it was
there for the taking, if not for the unfortunate drops
from CD, if not for the fumble uh there just
before the lightning delay, and then you know, just some penalty,

(02:20):
some boneheaded once. I think Pickings had one before the
Miles Sanders fumble. So so yeah, I think there was
so much encouragement, but that game was there for the
taking and they they didn't grasp it.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
I should agree.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
Thoughts this game was really fun to watch in the
first half for sure, that's where all the points came
for the Cowboys twenty one twenty. At halftime, I was like, Okay,
we got ourselves a ball game. And then it's like,
when's the last time the Cowboys scored on their opening drive?
And then when's the last time the Cowboys scored a
running touchdown on their opening drive?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Two running touchdowns in.

Speaker 7 (02:57):
The first half stuck out because the Cowboys had six
total rushing touchdowns last season in seventeen games, and they
did it in the first half. I said, Okay, this
is a totally different offense. Brian Schottenheimer stuck to what
he said he was going to make this team. I
think a lot of people, kind of including myself, not
gonna lie after what I've seen in training camp. I

(03:18):
was like, yeah, okay, I guess they're just gonna, you know,
make this passing offense kind of team. You're gonna see
a lot of downfield plays. But no, they kept it balanced.
Dak looked so in control. I did a little hit
with Philly. They're asking, you know, what, does Dak look
like They're just gonna throw.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Him out there? He hasn't played in ten months.

Speaker 7 (03:39):
Said we're gonna wait to see what you see because honestly,
we haven't seen him in live action. He went out
there looked like he's been playing, you know, since last November. Honestly,
I think that's was one of the biggest upsides. Like
the things I was worried about, actually, like the Javontay
Williams we talked about not seeing him. He had a
great night, Dak had a great night, were like two

(04:00):
of the things I was kind of worried about what
it would look like, and it actually looked one and
more of the positive things. But like Christy said, his opportunities.
I think Brian Schottenheimer had a great game plan going
into this. I think he gave his team every opportunity
they could. It didn't take full advantage, especially towards the end.
I know there's a lot of things some guys want back,
especially when you're talking about a seed Lamb. I know

(04:23):
we'll get further into that. We heard f him after
the game. He took a lot of accountability. Miles Sanders.
We didn't hear from him, but I'm sure he wants
a certain playback. I think that was a pivotal point
of the game as well, So some upside for sure,
but obviously when you go home with the l it
could have been a very different momentum center setter for
the season. I think if they came out of Philly

(04:44):
with the win after that nice banner ceremony we got
to sit through as well.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
That we endured.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yes, yes, d.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
Voiced men was good. That was a good anthem.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
So that was.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
The on wasn't loud enough. I don't know about Boys.

Speaker 8 (05:03):
I felt like.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
It was on the corner Baptist Church trying to sound
man not there listen because I was.

Speaker 8 (05:11):
I was that. That was a big part of it
for me too.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
But I wanted to, uh, well, first of all, I
agree with you ladies. Second of all, I wanted to
stay on the delay because I think like that's something
that is we sat through the delay. I know y'all
sat through the delay in real life, and and and obviously, but.

Speaker 8 (05:30):
I went the Cowboys players. I didn't get.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
A chance to listen to any of their interviews, particularly
after the game. I know that's shoddy because he is
a head coach. Was like, we're not using it as
an excuse, and I liked his energy, but I wouldn't
listen to that Philly and Philly players in the locker
room and they was like, yeah, man, we couldn't get
in the rhythm anymore. It just felt like, I think
that it's kind of being understated what it's like for

(05:54):
those guys to go out there and to not play
for an hour, and what the place the mental place
they have to stay in. And we saw it was
only three points scored on offense from either team after that,
so I do think.

Speaker 8 (06:05):
That it played a role.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
It also gave each team a little bit more time
to make some extra adjustments that maybe they wouldn't be
able to make before. So I think that played a
role in the second half being kind of a slow
start to for both sides.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
But I will say that I do think that Philly.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Just knows how to finish, and that is a skill.

Speaker 8 (06:24):
That's a skill, I think, learning.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
How to finish games, being poised in those moments, making
those plays when they're there. The Dallas defense did everything
that they needed to do, made some key adjustments in
the second half. I'm sure we'll get into those a
little bit more, and they gave that offense a chance
and they could not finish and that's the end of it. Now,
I will say with what Christy said, there's a whole

(06:46):
bunch I'm encouraged by. There's a whole bunch of things
that as someone that is still learning, I feel like
I was able this offseason, was looking at and was like,
I think this interior should be able to move people
off the ball.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
I believe this.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
I believe this is but we got to see this
is it.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I think I.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Want to remind everybody this is the first time that
we saw this offensive line all together. It's the first
time we seen this offense operate all together.

Speaker 8 (07:11):
This is the first time this defense is.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Actually tacking tackling humans because there was a lot of
mistackles that you could tell this is also conditioning because
people was huffing and puffins and hands on your knees.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
Yeah it was it was human. It was human.

Speaker 5 (07:25):
It's so there are so many factors that play into
game to game one week one things like that. But
there's so many positives to take from this game, things
you can really build off of. And I do think
Cowboys Nation should be encouraged by the changes that you
see within this team. So that's that's my opening monologue
for you guys.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
May I share? May I share a funny from during
the please.

Speaker 8 (07:51):
Go there?

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Everybody gets to hear the sideline reports during the radio broadcast.
So during the hour long delay, I think it was
an hour and five minutes, and there's no food in
the locker room. So I'm told that there are a
couple of Eagles players that have left the locker room
and are going to the club areas, but the fans

(08:15):
and the VIP guests asking if there's any food.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Because people are hungry, And.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
Shortly thereafter to both locker rooms were delivered. Would you
all like to take a guess as to what was delivered?

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Sandwiches, uncrustables and crustables.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
Yeah, so the uncrustables were delivered and both peanut well
they're peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They're individually packaged, they're round,
and they have the crust taken off of them. But
I can also confirm that both the grape and strawberry
flavors were available.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Okay, but yeah, so that was and then I.

Speaker 6 (08:54):
Think as many staff tried to snag as well. But yeah,
that that was the nutrition. But I will say that
one thing for incrustables. It obviously worked very well for
the defense. I think it is the exact right thing
for a defensive player, but the offenses were terrible. After
that break. There were zero There were zero punts through

(09:20):
four forty four remaining in the third quarter when that
break happened. Afterwards five punts after that, a turnover on
downs by the Cowboys, and then the final series Philly
just ran out the clock.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Yeah, it made a difference, a difference. No, I just
think that that is an important element to make sure
we like talk talk about because I think just going
through that game, it was so much excitement, It was
so much stuff going on, and then that break happens,
you come back, it felt like after the break, everything
will really fast.

Speaker 8 (09:52):
I don't know about y'all. Did y'all feel like that
at the game.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Ladies, after the the layouts, everybody's like.

Speaker 7 (09:59):
But I will say, and it wasn't there for Brian
Schoenheimer's the locker room at that point, but when Dak
was in there, he was asked about how that plays
plays a role and downplayed it one hundred and ten percent.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
They all downplayed it, like Philly.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
That's how I went absolutely not like literally, So that's
why it's like interesting, But I get to your point.

Speaker 8 (10:16):
That's why I went to listen.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
That's literally why I went to listen, because I was like,
why they keep saying that it didn't why they keep
saying that it didn't matter like that, because I'm like,
it clearly did, because these two offenses have been moving
down the field. And again, if only for the fact
that these defensive coordinators got a little bit more time
and were able to make some adjustments, it still made
a difference in that game. And you could tell that

(10:39):
both teams were and Philly just did what good teams do,
is that they just made those right plays at the
right moment. They did just enough, and that is that's
how they were able to get out of this game
with a win. But I personally think that Dallas for
a lot of the portion of this game when total
tod with them, didn't look scared, didn't look intimidated. I
looked like the better team in a lot of But

(11:00):
you to be that team, you gotta finish those you
gotta finish those games.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
And you talk about, you know, the first play the game,
Jalen Carter, their star defensive tackle, obviously getting ejected for
uh literally spitting on that so disrespectful and they completely
changed the game plan for him.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
So will you get copyright if if Chris played knock
if you but.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
They played last night? Christy know what can you bucket?
I was insane, like, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
It happened so fast, Like the people that were sitting
I know you're on the sideline, but I'm in the
press box.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
So everyone's like, you know, we we saw their their
and we're.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Like wait, he's ejected, like like it happened.

Speaker 6 (11:42):
So the players standing next to Dak didn't know that.
Javonte Yea Davonte Williams said he didn't know he was
in the offensive huddle and he said he didn't know
about the spitting why he got ejected from the game
until yeah, to the sideline spen.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
It happened so fast, and it even I think it
might have been Dak after the game who was talking
about you know, as soon as he's like obviously you know,
the ref saw it, and he was like I thought
when he's like, yay, fifteen yards for us to start,
but he's like, I had no idea he was going
to be ejected. That's not my you know, because people

(12:21):
were asking me, like GF He's like, I have nothing
to do with what to decide after that, But all
his teammates were like, you know, that's our quarterback. You
know they were they all felt Sam Williams, were you
standing there when he made that?

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Didn't hear?

Speaker 5 (12:31):
Sama ended the he was the last one talking to
locker room, and he basically said, you know, if that
was me, we would have both been in the locker room.
So I don't know how he handled that the way
he did, and I feel the same.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
We would have had to win to commercial break. There's
no and.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
Sam said it, Javonte said it. Another player, I can't
remember their person where it all said, you know it
does there's nothing lower than.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
You could do to another human being.

Speaker 7 (12:57):
But it was just Dak also said, you know, the
game plan changed as soon as Jalen Carter because the
game plan was on Jalen Cardinals. So now that we
have to change our blocking scheme and literally what we
were going to do. So I'm glad that, you know, well,
I'm not wonder. I'm glad that the cowboy your team lost.

Speaker 8 (13:18):
Is best defensive player, arguably his best player.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
A week ago, even get away from me.

Speaker 8 (13:23):
I don't know, I'm about to hear all of that.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Mean and again, he made that decision, he did that,
he did what he did, unfortunately apologize. He apologized. Fantastic
for apologizing.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
But yeah, babe, Yeah, for those by the way, who
think that that was too much to kick him out
of the game, I just want to point out that
that is a point of emphasis this year by the league.
These things like CD with the nosewipe and things like that,
those are penalties this year, and the league makes a
point to send the officiating crews to every single training camp,

(13:57):
and every single player on every NFL team got the
same message. So again, it's one of those heat of
the moment kind of things. He regrets it, obviously, he apologized.
But that's why the league came down so hard on it,
because they they ain't messing with that this ship.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Yeah what no heat.

Speaker 8 (14:18):
It sounded like it sounded like they were Jalen.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
The way that Dak described it was you remember what
what game? What team was that that was kind of
walking through San Francisco would walk through the field goal
attempts in pregame. It kind of sounded like he Jalen
sounded for how Dak described it sounded. Jalen was kind
of trying to intimidate Booker a little bit, just kind

(14:41):
of trying to get and Dak was like.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
What did you mess with this nugget?

Speaker 9 (14:47):
For?

Speaker 8 (14:47):
Like? And and I do think.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
I do think that if more players realized what happened,
it might have been an earlier squabble.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Oh yeah, I think I do.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
I believe that if more players realized what happened earlier,
they I have been out there.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
That was a very chippy game.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
Yeah really, okay, they don't They don't like each other.

Speaker 8 (15:09):
I don't like them either. Listens, definitely, we don't like
you either.

Whoah, Welcome to Girls Boys Talk, presented by and Biziline
here in the SWBC studio.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
I do want to make sure we do touch on
this run game.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
You know Christy was talking about the uncrustables, Well they're
even better when they're warmed up. You know, it was
god better as he warmed up the Lord.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Williams.

Speaker 8 (18:05):
That's good. That's good.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
Little Oh okay, okay, I heard it.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Balanced offense is you know what Shoddy had a goal
or vision of. If you look at the rushing yards
one hundred and nineteen on the ground one hundred and
eighty eight, I mean you couldn't have asked for something
better than that. But I mean unfortunately the Cowboys still
not able to get the job done. But we we
should take a chance or take a moment talk about
Javonte Williams, this offensive line and how they were able

(18:33):
to get to the second level and create some opportunities, like.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
You should what you got?

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Oh man, Well, first of all, it started up front
for me, started up front for me. The as advertised,
the motions and some of the stuff that they did
with Covante Turpet earlier in that game really ope, y'all.
These rush lanes was some big, some big rush lanes
they were pulling, pulling tern Steel and Booker around the

(18:59):
formation and those guys, And I think I think that's why,
that's why I was excited about the run game, is
that I felt like Clayton Adams and those guys you know,
would really put together some put together a plan that
made sense for what that offensive line could do. But
with Javonte Williams, I Clayton Adams talked about him when

(19:19):
they talked to the coordinators earlier this week, and there
was an excitement to him. I felt like his body
lane was changed talking and talking about him and coming
into this game, y'all if you kept your ears low.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
To the ground.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
So many people were just like, I don't think that
was gonna be able to run the ball. I said,
where do y'all get that from? Who?

Speaker 4 (19:37):
To me?

Speaker 8 (19:37):
I kept in my mind thinking.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
Like, where are y'all coming up with this? We haven't
seen any we haven't seen enough to know. And I
know there's nothing wrong with being skeptical, skeptical.

Speaker 8 (19:47):
About the running back room.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
I think they still got a lot to prove, But
I was more confident in Javonte Williams based off of
the way the coaches was. They was like, this is
our guy. We're gonna bubble wrap him. He's gonna be fine.
He put his footge the ground yesterday, dipped his shoulder,
showed some physicality, and was fantastic in past protection. I
think that this is something to really build off of

(20:09):
for him, and this is what two years removed from
the ACL this is the time in which that you
would think that he would start getting his legs under him.
I was impressed by his explosiveness as well when he
needed to use it. So for me, I do think
that him coming out yesterday should instill a little bit
more confidence in people from the running back room and
running back perspective. But it really started upfront with that

(20:32):
offensive line and those tight ends blocking on the outside.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
Yeah, I agree. In addition to the O line overall
it was good, good block and you know, as an
entire unit. But the word that I most agree with
you with when it comes to Javonte himself is the
physicality because just from field level, what you can see,
what did y'all feel is the yards after contact. He

(20:57):
was constantly moving forward. A three yard run became a
six yard run. A four yard run was a nine
yard run. That one that was eleven yards. I guess
all the way down to the one yard line, he
was moving that pile. He was moving the pile and
then he got some help. So very very impressive. But
there were so there have been so many games in

(21:20):
recent Cowboys history where you're not getting the yards after
contact where you're going the other way. It's the other
team that's the yards after contact in the running game,
not not yards after catching the passing game. But that's
what impressed me the most with Yavonte.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (21:37):
I mean a lot of what you got one hundred percent.
It all starts up front. I like, what the wall
of Tyler's are gonna look?

Speaker 8 (21:47):
That's catchy, come on.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Very happy Tyler got.

Speaker 7 (21:50):
Yeah, it was it was like, okay, when I saw
guy and going there, I was keep an eye on him,
and I don't know if you saw the viral play
He's please y'all.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Oh my god. I was like, oh my god, it
was so funny.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
Now I have to share because I was in there
laughing by myself during the delay because they you remember
when the off season when Guyton was punching in the rain.
Somebody put that. I know, I know, you know what
play I'm talking about. We had a little mini left
hook in there, but Guyton was locked in. And then
I saw before I went to sleep last night. This morning,
I saw Tyler Booker and his NFL debut. Gave up

(22:27):
no pressures shout out to shout out to the rookie.
The night before the game, Tyler Guyden's family was all
in the lobby and it was probably like ten of them.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
They were in a.

Speaker 7 (22:39):
Big circle and they all were praying, and I was like,
oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
I was like, how do you not read for this kid?

Speaker 7 (22:45):
So when I heard Jalen Carter was taunting him, I
hate that for him, like leave him alone, leave him alone.
But even Dak last night when he went up there,
he said, you know, I when we when the delay happened,
I gave a shout out to the guys because I'm like,
I've been protected all night. I only I was only
down one one time. They didn't not Yeah, they didn't.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
Philly didn't register a sack last night.

Speaker 7 (23:07):
Yeah, so and Dak was scrambling. That's another positive out
of that. But no, Dak had time too. That's why
he looked to me as calm as he did in
a lot of those situations, able to get out of
the pocket.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
Scramble gets some yards as well.

Speaker 7 (23:20):
Javonte Williams, like I said, from the beginning, he was
a I think A. I don't want to say it's surprise,
you just you just didn't know, Like I know, we
didn't know, like we were hoping and the hope. It's
looking promising because in the press box every time Javonte
Williams to Christie's point.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
They're like, he's still going. He's still going, y'all.

Speaker 7 (23:39):
So that's positive in that way. I was a little
surprised that Jaden Blue wasn't you know, active for this one,
but Miles Sanders getting it.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
They went with the veterans obviously.

Speaker 7 (23:51):
And saw some good saw slow start for Miles Sanders
from my perspective, picked it up later in the game
and I was like, I'm still trying to figure ot
I didn't make it to a touchdown when he got
that forty nine yard run when he I think it
was a linebacker that took him down.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
I'm like, unhooked the trailer lord.

Speaker 7 (24:09):
But he had the longest run for both teams at
that point, and then in that same offensive drive he
fumbles it and it kind of negates everything. And then
the man had to go think about it for an
hour and five minutes because there was a delay. So
some good and some bad obviously comes from that. Wondering
how they're looking at that going forward. You know, if

(24:30):
the rookie, when the rookie gets his opportunity, and it
could have just been for this game plan.

Speaker 6 (24:34):
For many regards to Blue, yes, so if I'm going
to share the thinking on that, So it all has
to do with special teams. Yeah, there were two players
rookies that people were excited about that were inactive coaches decisions.
In addition to Jade and Blue, it was rookie linebacker
Shamar James in their place on the active roster. Where

(24:58):
the two guys elevated from the practice squad, Ryan Flornoy
and Buddy Johnson the linebacker veteran linebacker, And it's because
they can be more productive on special teams. At this
point of the season and in this point of the
career of the rookies, Flournoy is your gunner opposite C. J. Goodwin.

(25:18):
He is very and he's playing all the teams, but
Gunner's a very important position. He also by elevating him,
you had five available wide receivers, Buddy Johnson for Schamar James. Again,
that's just a thing where Buddy has more experience doing it,
and so they went with the experience and it purely

(25:39):
had to do with special teams.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
That makes sense. Yeah, I was just like.

Speaker 6 (25:44):
Ah, but so many people were disappointed. Yeah, because you know,
we've been hearing so many great things. There are a
lot of Texas Longhorns fans. Oh yeah out there that
saw what Jayden could do. Would he have scored on
that long?

Speaker 5 (25:58):
A couple of there is most of them like watching
it back this morning. If you have, I think you
say to yourself, if Jaden Blue is out there, then
he's able to really separate himself from the pack. And
I agree. I was a little surprised about the Jaden
Blue thing. I also thought like, in addition to special teams,

(26:19):
past protection was.

Speaker 8 (26:20):
Important as well. Philly does some things.

Speaker 5 (26:22):
They don't do a lot of blitzing, they don't do
a lot of fancy stuff, but when they do, it's effective,
and you do want your This is a hostile environment
first game of the season. I think it would put
it is. It puts a lot on a rookie to
go out there and have to have that responsibility as well.
So I think that played a role in that decision too.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Do y'all think that Obviously we hadn't seen this offensive
line play together through the preseason, right, first time them
playing together, it's a collective. Did y'all expect them to
go out there and play so well, you know.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
That the way that they did? Goodness? Sorry guys, yes, no,
maybe so.

Speaker 8 (26:59):
I did not.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
I was pleasantly surprised. And how much of it was
Carter getting ejected before the first play from Scrimmish. I
don't know, you can't really wantify that and who cares
art that doesn't spit on one and get themselves infected?

Speaker 4 (27:14):
Yeah he did? I mean the game.

Speaker 6 (27:16):
Yeah, the game is the game. You can only play
the person who's in front of you and when you're
one on one battles. But I was not expecting over
five yards to carry, you know, and no sacks, not
against that Vic Fangio defense with a really stout offensive
line excuse me, defensive line. So yeah, I I thumbs,

(27:39):
But what would Jerry say, Jerry would say the the
arrows pointing up.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
Yeah, I'm not gonna say that I expected anything, but
I'm gonna follow the track record of their coaches, and
they have some fantastic coaches when it comes to run
game coordinating and things like that. And I did what
stood out to me. And maybe this doesn't make sense
to y'all, but it made sense to me watching in preseason.

(28:05):
And it wasn't always pretty, but there were spots in
preseason where the twos, like the backup offensive linemen looked
very together on their double teams and getting upfield and
just communication and stuff. And for some reason that made
me feel confident, like it did watching the preseason games,
because I'm thinking that's how it worked in the military,

(28:25):
is that whatever your last soldier was is what you were.
And so if the second team is playing efficiently and
their communication looks good, their double teams are clean, their
exchanges are clean, then to me it made me feel like, Okay, well,
I would expect the off the first team to be
like that, but I would I feel like the strength

(28:45):
of this team, this offensive line, is this interior and
adding at Tyler Booker to me felt like a tone
setting decision from this from you know, this front office
to bring him in, and again looking at the tr
record of the coaches that are here now in handling
that side of things, the way in which they like
to run the ball, the efficiency in which they are

(29:08):
able to run the ball, I thought that this offensive
line was gonna be able to move people off the ball.
Maybe that was just me guessing, and so it was
cool to actually see it come to fruition. I do
think there are still things they have to build upon.
You mentioned Tyler Booker. He had some rookie uglies in there.
As the game got a little got a little later
in the game, he had some trouble with some of
those that quickness on the inside, he gave up the

(29:29):
inside and there were some hurries that did affect Dak
later in that game, and stuff like that.

Speaker 8 (29:34):
So it wasn't.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Always pretty the whole time. But when you talk about
the tone of the run game about to get like
they want to run some folks over. They want to
They really want to let you feel their presence. And
I think that that as they grow with that, as
this running back room kind of starts to make a
little bit more sense, to maybe they'll be able to

(29:55):
lean on people how we see Philly lean on people,
how we see the Ravens people. Maybe that this is
a fantastic starting place for this young offensive line as
they just continue to grow because it's one of the
youngest in the NFL. I'm not mistaken, correct, correct, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
So that's that's how I feel about it.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Goodness gracious today.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Sorry, offensive line, okay, here for you, good morning.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
Offensive line obviously still room for improvement, but a lot
of good from the young gins. But defensive line, there
was quite some struggles in terms of pass rush. Of course,
you know you.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Have to mention it.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
No Michael Parsons, so no guaranteed pass rush there. But
you know, you have to talk about the fact that
in terms of stopping the run, sa Quon Barkley a
two thousand yard rusher last year, they held them the
sixty yards. So some positives there. But what'd y'all like
from that defensive line?

Speaker 8 (30:47):
Christ y'all start with you.

Speaker 6 (30:50):
The difference in the game was Jalen Hurts legs and
when he would break contain and I don't just mean
the tush push and converting third downs and and things
like that. But he nearly broke Sanborn's ankles late in
that game, didn't he with I mean just you know,
just juking people, and you know there'd be great coverage

(31:13):
right and that the there was some pressure, but they
just couldn't finish it, right and only one sack in
the game, right Sam. So yeah, obviously room for improvement,
but I don't think it's the disaster that people that
some critics were predicting after the trade of Micah.

Speaker 5 (31:34):
Absolutely not well. Well, as far as the defensive line
after I like earlier in that game, they were losing
contained and that was something that Eva Flus talked about,
talked about earlier in the earlier in the week, is
you know, staying in the cup and making sure that
these guys rush contain and uh, we saw a lot
of runs break into the outside. I think the edges

(31:57):
struggled early in that game.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Just the boy as a Rocker got manned. Yeah. Yeah,
And we'll welcome to the NFL. Welcome to the NFL.
It's not a criticism, it's just.

Speaker 5 (32:11):
And I just want to and I just want to
remind this is one of the best offensive lines, maybe
the best offensive line in football. Secondary to that this
is the tackle group is by far top three in
the NFL if that's if it's even close. So they
Philly also too. I want to say, in reference to
the pressures, Philly did go quick game early in that
game as well, and I think that played a role. Christie,

(32:34):
you mentioned that the coverage was fantastic on the back end. Yeah,
I know we're gonna get to that, but that is
a big reason why Jalen was having a run that
he didn't have going downfield. Now, one of the questions
that I posted earlier this week we were talking about
it ladies, was I wondered if Daly Dallas was going
to allocate a spy. We did see that a little

(32:55):
later in the game from the safety position.

Speaker 8 (32:58):
However, I do think that.

Speaker 5 (33:01):
Diggs being on the pitch count elon. You know, they're
still trying to see get a feel for what he is,
stuff like that. There has to be confidence in that.
And because once you have a spy, just like the
same way when you have a one corner follow someone,
it changes the picture for everyone else. And so I
think that's something that maybe the next time they play
we might see a little bit more even Flus also

(33:22):
has to adjust to Jalen Hurts. He has to adjust to,
you know, how he plays the game. So for me,
I thought that the defensive line as they needed to,
especially late in that game.

Speaker 8 (33:33):
Man Kenny Clark, the.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
Difference that he makes in the interior of that defensive line.
O soo DIGGI Zuage was drawing double teams, and that
a law that allowed Kenny Clark to operate freely and
let some of those linebackers do some things filling in
the run the safeties as well. So I want I
do think as the game, when all the defensive line
was able to settle down, they found some they really

(33:56):
were trying to avoid Philly being able to double team them.
So you saw them in a lot of five man fronts,
and what that means is is that they're lying their
edges out wide, so you can't get to them as
much for and get up on them for double teams.
I thought the defensive line settled in Marshaw Kneeland had
a really good night to me, and I believe that
he is on an upward track, really really stepping in

(34:16):
where he left off last year before that knee injury.
He's going to be essential moving forward for what you
want to do. But from the past rush perspective, it
is something that I'm going to keep an eye out on.

Speaker 8 (34:27):
But I think that they're gonna get better.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
And you got to remember, this is one of the
best offensive lines in football and it's not gonna be easy.

Speaker 6 (34:33):
And you mentioned Nielan. I just want to correct myself
and say it was Kneeling too had the sack and
not Williams.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
Oh okay, track, yeah.

Speaker 8 (34:41):
They need that.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
Clark was also in that sad on the Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
But I also love the fact that you know, during
that rain delay, we talk about the adjustments that you
know they were able to make get.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
That extra hour and some change.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
But let's talk about Matt Ebraflus. I think it was
back to back corner blitzes with Treyvon Diggs, but he
missed the sack.

Speaker 8 (35:00):
And then and then.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
The opposite side, Wayne came from the left and the
next one came from the right.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
That's what happened when you ain't tackled though. That's what
happens when your body is not used to going game speed.

Speaker 8 (35:12):
And that's why I was like, dang, like.

Speaker 6 (35:15):
Well, we were debating in the radio booth. Had we
ever seen Trayvon sit on a blitz and no answer?

Speaker 11 (35:21):
No?

Speaker 8 (35:22):
And he got there quickly too.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
He got there too.

Speaker 8 (35:25):
I've never seen it too.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
I was like, is that is that?

Speaker 8 (35:27):
A second?

Speaker 6 (35:28):
It's like I was thinking, is that number seven? I
thought I was fix my eyes.

Speaker 8 (35:32):
I was tripping, yeah.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
About you said it seven to the quarterback?

Speaker 8 (35:36):
That was why.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
But but I like it because it's the unexpected very
much for everyone us.

Speaker 7 (35:42):
Yes, I thought that was the point about your no.
I mean a lot what you guys said. I mean,
there was some good into some bad.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
Obviously, they were changing up the four upfront every couple
of plays, at least what I saw in the bet
in the beginning.

Speaker 7 (35:57):
And the first half, it was like it felt like
a game of Madden. Like I just felt like really
it was like Philly was just all right. The score touchdown,
and then the defense was I was just like there
was they just couldn't get a stop, like they just
weren't making a difference. And thank goodness, the offense showed
up early because the defense just didn't. And then I

(36:18):
think Jack said too, and then it felt like it
switched the second half. So if you guys just both
decide to come together at the same time.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I work out better, but.

Speaker 6 (36:26):
It's freaky Friday.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
I was like, then they again, I love them, Then
they go again.

Speaker 7 (36:35):
I just watched that. By the way, it was I
love like a seven out of ten. That's only because
I've seen the I mean, sometimes set that bar.

Speaker 5 (36:43):
Sometimes you just gotta leave it alone. Sometimes you just
gotta leave it alone. The first one is good enough.

Speaker 7 (36:49):
But my my kind of notes from what I saw,
like Dante Fowler, Osa Kenny, Sam Williams.

Speaker 5 (36:55):
That group the stronger group to me that I saw
in there. I saw Dante Fowler.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
Struggling a little bit, just deadly a bit.

Speaker 7 (37:03):
I was like, I felt like, when you're talking about
I hate talking. Sam Williams, by the way, told us
to stop asking about Michael Parsons.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
He was an entertaining him. I am me and he
is him. He is him, and I am me.

Speaker 7 (37:21):
I got his number if y'all want it, And then
it's somebody at the end he's like, can we get
that number?

Speaker 4 (37:26):
You promised?

Speaker 5 (37:27):
I was like, childish somebody said that, I promise you.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
I promise you. But that is one of the stronger groups.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
Marshaw Dela j Toyas, Solomon Thomas, the Donovan Azraku. I
felt like don as Iraku was getting a little rocked
out there a little bit.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
But what you expect from a rookie.

Speaker 7 (37:45):
I will say Sam Williams, I just felt like every
single play might have been perfect from him, but the energy.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
That he sang, Yeah, that ma, that's what God, that's
what it was in college.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
It's the motor very much so so not perfect.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
I mean, the past Russus are there, and we know
why the past Rushings are there, and we knew that
was gonna be something they got to figure out, and
they just did not figure it out early. Well, I
can't wait to get the numbers because there were hurries,
there were pressures, yeah there were. It's just but it's
just that that it's just that dang quarterback that me.
How did they say on Scooby that boy, if it

(38:19):
wasn't for that dirt, my bad. But anyway, So but
I will say Solomon Thomas also too, some of the
stuff he was able to do in the run, and
I do think he's a good kind of change of
pace when you when you when if you take out
a Clark or if you take out an osa like
his speed and what he in the violence in which
he plays with that, there are some things to be

(38:42):
positive about when it comes to this defensive line. Obviously,
James Houston, I think, came in there and started doing
the stuff he was doing doing in practice. Is where
you're seeing him hop off the like really pop off
the line. Gave my lot of some issue with this
quickness off the line.

Speaker 8 (38:57):
There's stuff to be like.

Speaker 5 (38:59):
Okay, I see the vision, I see what y'all trying
to do, and then and then and then I'm ecstatic
about when you possibly get a zero back because.

Speaker 7 (39:09):
That a exactly changes that changes the whole you too,
So yes, agreed, but I dot nugget.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
I'm sorry, just put this out there. Jalen Hurts scrambled
on thirty nine point four percent of dropbacks against the
Cowboys Week one. That's his highest rate again since twenty
twenty three.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
It's not about right from what I saw, I'm so tired.
He also looked like a Madden player out there.

Speaker 5 (39:30):
Be so tired to him and his legs said run like,
oh nobody's open with it perfectly clanking Jordan's field.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
All right, we're gonna take our second right here, I'm
gonna wrap things up up next on Girls, Dog Warstock.

Anybody I'll go first with.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
I'm going with the easy one. I'll start on something.
I'm going with Bonte Williams.

Speaker 7 (42:41):
I feel like he was that guy in this in
that game, he set the tone for the run game.
But also, to go unnoticed, he was blocking his butt
off as well, that physicality that Christy was talking about
obviously two rushing touchdowns, Like how do you get a
better start than that?

Speaker 4 (42:59):
So I'm going with mister Williams.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
Does it have to be a single player? Can we
go with a whole unit? Like that's not a cop
out is it.

Speaker 5 (43:08):
No, No, we like, I mean, we've already did about
him a lot.

Speaker 6 (43:11):
But I because they exceeded my expectations just because we
hadn't we hadn't seen them like we were talking about earlier.
I made a great point, we just hadn't seen them
all work together. And I just with the arrow pointing up,
it has me really excited about the potential for the
offense this year. Your dog, who's your farmer's dog dog?

Speaker 4 (43:34):
You say, oh, Nicole.

Speaker 8 (43:37):
That yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:38):
You know his poys in the pocket, them able to
mix in some play action. You saw them convert on
third and two, third and five situations.

Speaker 4 (43:46):
Uh, he has the weapons.

Speaker 3 (43:47):
Now, we've talked about it, and I mean he took
advantage now that of course there was a little rush
that did show up as the game went on. But
I mean for Dak to you know, go down with
a hamstring injury, missed the rest of the season in
twenty twenty four, fast for it come back and he's
playing healthy, I.

Speaker 8 (44:03):
Gotta give it to Dak.

Speaker 5 (44:04):
Yeah. And to add on to that really quickly, I
do think what Fangio decided to do, he was like,
this man got too much time back there Fangiel.

Speaker 8 (44:14):
Is not a blitzer, y'all, and he was like, he
got too much.

Speaker 5 (44:17):
Nineteen percent last year is how much they blitzed. That's
how much they felt like they needed to. They felt
like they need to. And then you know, Jami Card
ain't out there because he's been no people.

Speaker 6 (44:24):
But uh, nineteen percent is very low, very low, very low.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (44:29):
And so for the fact that they started to blitz
and Dak was eating up that blitz, his receivers.

Speaker 8 (44:36):
Got to come through for him. I listen.

Speaker 5 (44:37):
I know we ain't talked about that that much, but
that was a key portion of this game.

Speaker 8 (44:40):
Those drops not only from not only.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
From CD lamb one of them, I'll say one of them,
because a couple of them seam balls was him really
threatening that needle. You better put on your chin strap
and tighten that thing up if you are running that
scene route for four because he's gonna put it on
the money. He put it on the money a couple
times for ferg and he couldn't come down with it again.

Speaker 8 (45:03):
They decided to blitz. He beat that blitz with the
way he delivered that ball.

Speaker 5 (45:08):
These receivers got to help him out because that's also
gonna that's gonna put their defense in a place to
where they're gonna have to figure something else out too.

Speaker 4 (45:16):
You can't just keep blitzing.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
Yes, those small things matter for respect and how and
to dictate defense. So I wanted to say that, and
I thought that was awesome. That was my guy as well.
I'm going to say that the dog of the game
for me, Barnacles, who's a mgdog. He maybe don't count
and hopefully we can see him come out the cage
a little bit bored next week. But mayor sleafeu, he

(45:39):
wasn't a consistent dog, but on special teams he was
setting the tone. He didn't he may not have seen
the field a lot on the defensive side.

Speaker 8 (45:48):
On the defensive side.

Speaker 5 (45:49):
And we'll see what's happening there with the linebacker position
a little bit because I got some question. But uh yeah,
what a tone setting guy early in that game, just
coming down on teams and cram and people cram and
