Speaker 2 (00:09):
Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (00:11):

Now your host, Nicole Hutchison, Wake.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Up, Cowboys Nation.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Welcome in a Girls Talk, Boys Talk Forsent and bne
Visiline in the SWBC studio. I'm Nicole Hutcheson alongside Aisha Morrison,
Christy Scales. Ladies, Good morning, what's the what's popping?

Speaker 5 (00:44):
Good morning?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
I can't believe we're forty eight.

Speaker 6 (00:47):
Wait, guy, it's kind of sickly.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yeah, this short week's I don't see how these players
do it. It was funny because even on Cowboys Hour yesterday
or last night, Reverend was like, man, I don't even
know the days of the week.

Speaker 7 (01:01):
Somehow, some way, we know we got a game to play.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
So Cowboys Detroit Lions Thursday night, a football, but we
got a practice report to go over real fast.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Aisha, who was in.

Speaker 7 (01:10):
Attendance, who was missing?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Who was full?

Speaker 7 (01:14):
You get the point.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
Yeah, So.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
Hakeem Adeniji was limited in practice with a knee. Duran
Bland was a full participant in practice with a foot
slash rist.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
We saw him get kind of banged up in the
game on.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
What day was that Thursday?

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Yeah, it came like a month ago.

Speaker 6 (01:38):
Kayln Carson was a full participant dealing with that hamstring
that kept him out of last week's game. I think
that's a big deal for this Dallas secondary. Jadeveon Clowney
is dealing with a hamstring. We've been seeing him work
with the rehab group for the last couple of days.
Trayvon Diggs was limited in practice. He makes his return
back to practice. Dante Fowler with the shoulder it was

(02:01):
limited in practice. Tyler Guiden with the ankle did not participate.
Malie Hooker with a back injury was limited in participation.
He had back spasms during the game, so I think
that's important to note. James Houston with the foot slash
ankle was limited. Also, Digezoo with the elbow was a
full participant. George Pickens with a caf at slash knee

(02:24):
was a limited participant. Covante Turpin with the shoulder was
full and Donovan Wilson with the neck injury was a
limited participant.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
I also have the Detroit Lions and they're going through.

Speaker 7 (02:37):
Some things over there.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:39):
Absolutely, we'll get to.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
We'll talk about them later, but they're going through some things.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Yeah, it's fine because you know, we don't at this
one of the season, we didn't dealt with our injuries
a fair share.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
So everybody that's fair, you know, nobody not at all.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Jadeveon Clowney, of course, I believe this is the same
thing that happened last week.

Speaker 7 (02:59):
He was on the practice report, of course.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Just I feel like he's more so just kind of
making sure his body's okay.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
And I hope so, I hope. So it's just because
hamstring is, you know, the soft tissue stuff on a
I know it's a week to week Thursday to Thursday,
but yeah, three games in twelve days, or if you
think about it this way, four in nineteen, it feels
like something ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Yeah, I definitely, it definitely feels like something if it's
soft tissue. Because from my understanding, he was kind of
doing the veteran rest day type thing. But this hamstring
injury sounds like it. This is something that that took
place during this game, and so I'm a little I'm worried.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
I'm a little worried about his status and when when
we're gonna know if he's going to be able to play,
because he has been essential to We talked about Quentin
Williams to build stabilizing this defensive line. I think that
Jadeveon Clowney has been a huge part of that as well,
being a sure edge defender. And you're going up against
a team that really likes to attack the edge, really

(03:58):
likes to attack the flats once to set up their
screen game.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I'm yeah, this would be the worst week for him
to mess.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
So to you, ladies, who if not him, who, Well.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
That's what I'm saying. I see Dante Fowler on this
dang injury report.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
He's he's been there with his shoulder for a while
because he got I seen him, he got clothes lines.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
I seen it with my own two eyes. It was wrong.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
But okay, So who, ladies.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
If not Fowler, not Sam Williams has been playing better.
He has been playing better football. But the responsibility of rush,
containing of containing in the edge just said, in the
edge is something that we have not seen. It's a
reason why Diamond and Zuraku and Jadevion Cloannie have become
your starters, because those are the more. It takes a

(04:44):
lot of responsibility, and so I'm I'm I'm terrified going
up against this Lions team and Jamier Gibbs and these guys,
and we don't know who our edge is gonna be,
if if Connie is gonna be ready, and you need
a guy that's not as I don't want to use
the word.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Ondisciplined, that's fair. It takes a lot of dis discipline
because I believe when I last looked last week, Sam
was one of the most penalized guys on the roster too.
So you do need somebody, especially in a game like this,
that can play with some discipline.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
We'll go with that work.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah, yeah, Jim Gibbs just makes me nervous, period.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
But these are times that I think about a player
like who's thriving in Seattle?

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Well, what was at the beginning?

Speaker 6 (05:25):
He's ava checked the Tyros reed Tyris Tyros.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
We I think about like some of those edges that
you had to let go.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I thought you're gonna say, DeMarcus Lawrence well, well, well.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
But I think that Jadeveon Clowney has filled that role
very nicely, which is oh lord, I'm trying to think
of what edge I would be comfortable with.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Do you kick Solomon Thomas out to the edge.

Speaker 6 (05:48):
Because he is playing in the interior, but he could be.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
You're more stacked on the inside, just taking one of
them and moving him out. But I don't know that
you wouldn't would see that as a full time not
a full time but well for part of the gate,
part of the Sam and Dante all just working in.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Maybe our rotation there, but maybe Solomon Thomas.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
I think you're gonna get a bit of a rotation anyway,
just you know, or five men front. And that's the
great thing about the versatility of so many of these
guys that you can move them around. So but the
Solomon Thomas one is an interesting thing. I'll see if
I can find out about that.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
Gale big scoop, not the little one.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
And then I was just you know, on the other
side of the ball. I think, you know, Nate Thomas
was getting the snaps for Tyler Guyton who uh, you know,
unless something miraculous happens and he's able to participate fully
today that you know, we might see Nate timeont Nate
Thomas starting again in place of Tyler Guidon at left tackle.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Yeah, well, anybody else that stands out to you guys
that concerns you guys heading into this matchup.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
No, I think the likes of like the Pickens and
some of the guys who were limited are going to
you know, come through because yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
They need this game and then an actual actual time off.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah, it'll be almost a little many by actually how
many days weekday? Well, yeah, well you'll have they'll probably
come in Friday and review the game for Thursday night
and then hopefully have Friday Saturday off and then maybe
even uh, you don't know if you'll give them Monday
off or have them come in Monday and then give
them their regular Tuesday off get back on their regular

(07:30):
sort of a Sunday to Sunday schedule.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
All right, let's go ahead and get into this match
up because we unfortunately our last day of the week
wait until Friday. Cowboys of course in a much needed
win situation heading into Thursday.

Speaker 7 (07:44):
Of course, so are the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Because the Lions are right above them in the NFC
playoff picture right now. They lost to, of course, the
Green Bay Packers last week. But when you look pretty
much on paper right now, what's the matchup that stands
out to you, ladies the most.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
Cowboys?

Speaker 4 (08:01):
Well, let's stit with offense first, Cowboys offense Lions defense.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
The matchup best sis out the most.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
Yeah, it's gonna be that Lion's secondary versus this Dallas
wide receiver corps. They have experienced quite a few injuries
on the back end. I mean, Brian Branch, he looked
better last week even though he's dealing with like a
toe and stuff. If I'm not mistaken, they just had
to put their corner terrier on Arnold on ir with
a shoulder injury. It's also to Kirby Joseph Is it

(08:33):
sounds like he's kind of on the up and up,
but this week might be too early for him to
come back. So that you know, this Lion's secondary has
really taken a hit with injuries as well as their offense.
And so to me, I'm looking at Dallas and I'm like, well,
Dallas I think has the ability to win the picking Ceedee, lamb,

(08:53):
those gentlemen have the ability to you know, take advantage
of them being weaken some of those spots. So that's
the matchup that stands out the most to me.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
What about you, Yeah, I think the other thing is
for the Lions, they haven't been good at taking the
ball away, and they have not been a good red
zone defense, particularly this year, which is surprising a little bit.
You know, they're they're kind of the upper half on
things like third down and things like that. They are
they haven't taken the ball away in terms of the interceptions,

(09:24):
but they are good with the force fumbles, and I
know that. When Schottenheimer, when we asked them about their
new defensive coordinator, Calvin Shepherd, who took over for Aaron Glenn, who,
of course is now the head coach of the New
York Jets, you talked about just the it's still an
aggressive style, hard hitting, but the mentality of taking away

(09:46):
the ball and so ball security is going to be,
you know, one of the number one issues for the
Cowboys this week. But I agree with Ayisha and that
it's going to be over the top. This is a
sure tackling team. They have the fewest miss tackles in
the league Pro Football Focus, So I don't know that
it's going to be a lot of like yards after contact,

(10:06):
which Avonte Williams. I think that these three and five
yard runs are going to stay three and five yards
and not become like eight nine yard games. I think
it's going to be harder to stay ahead of the
chains this week. But because of the injury situation, as
I should touched on in the secondary that I think
this is going to be a game of big plays

(10:27):
downfield through the air.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
They have the third most forced fumbles to Christy's point,
and also I'm sorry, yeah, force fumbles and then fumble recoveries,
they rank near the bottom.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
I lied.

Speaker 7 (10:40):
I lied.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
It's eighteenth in the NFL with four So definitely a.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
Good point there, Christy.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
But when you talk about, you know, attacking the secondary
yard after catch, hello, CD, George Pickens one of the
best in that area. Where do you feel like it
will be the most advantage I'd say to speak when
you talk about this, would it be a George Pickens
on who or maybe a CEEDI Lee one who?

Speaker 7 (11:03):
What matchup do you feel like the count?

Speaker 3 (11:05):
That's that's what's really interesting is which poison are they
gonna pick? What shepherd gonna go with their And I
also think it's gonna depend on how tightly this game
is called as well, because it was called pretty tight
on Thanksgiving Day. And so the way that Pickens and
Lamb were able to draw those pass interference penalties, I

(11:25):
think that can be a big thing.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
There.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
There was an interesting note about you know, we think
about Pickens drawing all these pass interference penalties and actually
see the Lamb is drawn more this season, so of
which I found kind of interesting. And it's like, well, yeah,
if you stop and think about it, but I'll be yeah,
I'm I don't know. I just think it's gonna be
I think for the Lions, I know we'll talk about

(11:48):
their offense in just a little bit, but with their
ground game, Jamior Gibbs is who scares me. I'm more
scared about their backs, and I think that the Lion
should be more scared about the past receivers.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
For the Cowboys, I.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
Mean, I think out of their secondary are the guys
that are out there. Brian Brinch is a hell of
a player. He always has been. This is a gentleman
that is very rangy. He can come from depth that
you will see him come down and tackle He's a
part of the reason why they're a good tackling team
because he's very physical. He'll come up with the line
of scrimmage and he doesn't I guess if you want
to have a comparison, he does. Him and Donovan Wilson

(12:26):
do similar things, but he is to me a little
he's more explosive. I think that I coun we could
definitely see Dallas not I don't think they're gonna be
afraid to attack DJ Reid, but out of the corners
that are gonna be out there, I believe that he
is the better corner that they have. I fully expect
for Dallas to go ahead and Meek Robertson like very heavily.

(12:47):
They play a lot of bass. You won't see them
in nickel as much, but those linebackers that they play with,
and Sealoney and Jack Campbell. Jack Campbell coming out of
college was one of the better linebackers in coverage. He
is a little bit more a tradition when you talk
about the linebacker position is where he's kind of that big,
you know, kind of bulky linebacker, but it's very efficient

(13:07):
in the run. Azeloni is less efficient in the past,
but both of these guys come downhill. There Again, a
part of the reason why they tackle well that that
linebacker core for them is pretty strong. And they also
will use Azeloni on some blitz situations too. But one
thing I will say is when you're talking about their defense,
is one of the reasons why their secondary I think

(13:27):
that their secondary might struggle is because this defensive line
is getting pressure. But if you can keep Aiden hutcheson
at bay, the rest of the guys are really not
affecting the passer enough.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
And I could be even Muhammad It actually was on
the Cowboys roster last year.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
Yeah, release and he was Yeah, and he was And
I remember seeing him and being actually, I distinctly remember
watching him in practice in the fore center and being like, well,
who's that popping off the line of commage?

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Who's that?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (13:57):
And he really was just a guy that they I
thought they had to let go because there were so
many guys, but he was interesting. But you know, this
this Lion's defensive line. And we heard yesterday we got
to hear from Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Lions,
and he's he was talking about the pressures. He's being
asked about their inability to get sacks right now, and

(14:19):
he was saying, you know, we just got to keep
at it. You know, we're waiting for them to come, hopefully.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Not this week.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Brother louis praying on your downfall.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
Like I think, I think that you know, this Dallas
offensive line, y'all is really coming along. And you know
you talked about Nate Thomas filling in ter Steele has
been sounding you know this, This offensive line last.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Week played very well. Still only had one pressure.

Speaker 6 (14:42):
Thomas had one pressure, bb had two pressures, Booker one pressure.
I mean, these guys are playing pretty good football. So
that's the matchup till Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
The other thing is Detroit plays so much more base
defense than any than anybody. Base defense means the four
down linemen and keeping three linebackers in the game. So yeah,
that that is a strength. And I think Campbell is
one of the more underrated linebackers in the league. And
also when you talk about the pressure or lack thereof not,

(15:13):
you know, they're really not landing. They're affecting some, but
they're they're not getting as many sacks as they had
in the past. But mohammed former cowboy for a cup
of coffee is second on the team with six six sacks,
but they have ten and a half sacks from their
linebacker corps. Yes and so, and that's that's yeah. So
that's kind of unusual in today's NFL where you're mostly

(15:37):
in nickel or you play a three four and you have,
you know, the linebackers the outside edge. You know, think
of the traditional Von Miller DeMarcus where when the Cowboys
played in the three four. But but but they get
it not just from Angeloni but from Campbell as well,
coming from the middle.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
Because they're they're they're they're blitzing because they're they're not
getting it from the front.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
Yeah, and I remember those days right, familiar.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
And the other thing is they play and Shoty talked
about this on I think it was Sunday, they play
a lot of press Manda Man, which.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
Is funny to me.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Yes, they both. Yeah, I think it's just I think
it's just that aggressive style, just the mentality of Detroit,
that of Dan Campbell and then Aaron Glenn and now Shepherd. Yes,
and that is you know, they just think, head up,
Manda Man, We're gonna impose our will on you. Whether
it's a guard or if it's a cornerback, and so

(16:35):
if they're going to play a lot of press manda man,
which the stats tell you, and that's what they've done
all year, give me Cowboys wide receivers all day.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
That's what I mean.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
You know what, Ceedee Lamb talked about that yesterday when
we got a chance to hear from him in locker room,
and somebody asked him about him, like, what's the physicality
like against this cornerback room that likes to play a
lot of press man And he was like, well, I
mean they're physical, Like that's one of the most physical groups.

Speaker 7 (16:58):
That we're going to go up against. But you know,
they ain't seen us yet.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
And then it goes to my point about how close
are they going to call this? Well, how how mature
is the officiating crew gonna let this hand fighting and
all the you know coming off the line.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
You know, yeah, shout out to.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
My dou met owen uh for this point that he
brought up. Are y'all concerned at all with?

Speaker 2 (17:23):
So?

Speaker 6 (17:23):
I do think the reason why these the reason why
these calls are closed. You know, it depends on the
officiating crew, but I do think that this wide receiver
cord and the pickens and the CD lamb and how
they adjust to the ball in the air is very
stressful for DBS.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
So I think it's a little bit of both.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
I think it's the officiating crew and these guys you know,
are extremely talented.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
They stress DB's.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
Are y'all concerned at all for the fact that, you know,
a lot of this yardage even in the game yes
on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
Came from penalties.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
What happens when that whistle is not What if this
game the whistle is not going that way? You know
Dallas is going to have to convert exactly so, And
I don't think that Dallas doesn't have the receivers to
make the plays like I think that, you know, I
don't feel like they're just looking for the flags, but there.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Some of them are obvious.

Speaker 6 (18:09):
But I don't want I don't want the guys to
get so accustomed to it happening either. I want them
to make sure that they're still, you know, fighting through
that contact and stuff, because as you get later into
the season, these games get closer, and if you start
getting to the playoffs, man.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
We've seen it every year. Them refs be.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Like yeah, what hold yeah, because they're gonna let them play.
They're gonna let them play.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
So that is something that even though this is it
is awesome to see some calls going your way when
it comes to pass interference and stuff. I hope that
that does not become an expectation and that guys continue
to play through contact because very well this week, Christie,
as your point, we can see them not call it,
or the refs might go up to the you know,

(18:52):
Detroit corners and be like, hey, we know your little
hands tighten up a little bit, so we'll see that's
gonna be important element of this game.

Speaker 5 (18:58):
I agree, Christie.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Yeah, and not just in terms of past interference or
not calling it, but just you know, Pickens has forced
nineteen miss tackles after catch, so according to Pro Football Focus,
that's the most in the league and three hundred and
eighty three of his receiving yards. Oh yeah, you're yack.
And so it's that physicality as well, not just you know,

(19:21):
coming off the line when the press coverage, the physicality
you know, contested catches, but what you can do, and
we talked about how great they are at tackling, you know,
the least amount of mistackles in the league for Detroit.
So you know, if that goes to form, you would
think that it might limit some of the yards after catch.
But when we were talking about the past interference penalties,

(19:42):
CD leading the league with ten pickens has five, it
seems like so they more. It seems like twenty five. Yeah,
but that's tied for fourth in the league.

Speaker 7 (19:51):
Yeah, all right, We're gonna take our first break here
on Girls.

back in the girls.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Start boys talk for anybody visit line Nicole Hutcheson, Ayisha
Moors and Christie Scales.

Speaker 7 (23:23):
Ladies, it's tied to talk. Lions offense, cowboys defense. Y'all
know what they got over there? A lot of injuries. Hello,
that part, I'm not.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Y'a.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
I was dancing, but I had to stop.

Speaker 7 (23:35):
It's fine.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
Yeah, let's get misconstrued.

Speaker 7 (23:37):
Let's say some of these injuries real quick. Let's talk
about it.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Let's go.

Speaker 7 (23:40):
You want me to do it, you got to do
you can do it. Okay, let's do it.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Time in Okay, cool arry On Arnold cornerback shoulder did
not participate.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
Let me make this a little bit bigger.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Sorry, uh Khalif Raymond or wide receiver ankle did not participate.
A mon said, wow, a mon Ros Saint Brown, come on,
you know this ankle did not participate. Brock Right their
tight end neck not participate. A couple of guys limited
as well. Kirby Joseph one of the guys to highlight
on that limited list.

Speaker 7 (24:06):
Their safety of course.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Knee injury listed as limited questions concerns.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Well for them, it's Aman Ross Saint Brown. He had
the low ankle sprain Thanksgiving and their loss to Green Bay.
He hasn't missed a game since twenty twenty three, so
he was actually hurt blocking on a run play and
had a couple of his teammates lineman came in and
he kind of fell into the blackass legs and yes,
we got rolled up from behind. But you know, they're

(24:35):
hopeful that he'll be able to come through. But didn't
practice on Monday. And the big thing for them is,
as you mentioned, brock Right at tight end and that
may name may not be familiar, but he's the backup
to Sam Laporta, and Laporta has been on injured reserve,
and boy has his absence really affected this offense for

(24:56):
Detroit Lions. So they're not only without Laporta who's on IR,
but you know, likely be without their second team or
brock Right again. He missed the game on Thanksgiving Day,
so without their top two tight ends again really affected
that offense. And then they have issues along their offensive line.
So Graham Glasgow, who's a really good center for them,

(25:19):
missed the Thanksgiving Day game. He was limited yesterday, so
they're hopeful that he'll be back. But it's been so
bad at center that they were trying to bring Frank
Ragnow out of retirement. They had he had retired back
in July, and it's like, oh, well, we'll get Frank
to come in. So he comes in for a workout
last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and has a hamstring injury,

(25:42):
and so they didn't sign him so because they knew
he'd have to rehab and all that kind of stuff.
So there are some issues along the offensive line, but
it'll be a big deal if Aman Ross Saint Brown
is able to play at wide receiver because you put
him with James and Williams, and you know that's you know,
one of the duos that you can put up at

(26:04):
the top of the NFL, along with Lamb and Pickens.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
Yeah, it's looking like he is.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
They're saying he still has a chance, but it's a
low ankle spring for Almaran Saint Brown, I'm one of
the most underrated wide receivers in this game, just so surehanded,
a fantastic route runner. I mean, I doubt if he
can't go, and even if he's not full full go,
that's huge for Dallas because he's such a focal point
of what they like to do in the middle of

(26:30):
the field, especially with Jack Campbell being a gentleman that's
not playing any not playing right now. You mentioned their
offensive line. It's a lot going on because I mean,
even some of the guys that are starting and are
going to play are still, you know, a little banged up,
even like Penney Sewel's dealing with the ankle. Ratledge is

(26:54):
dealing with the knee and and a neck injury that
he's still dealing with. And when you mentioned right they're
back up to tight end, he's dealing with a trachia injury,
So I don't from creeping on them because I was
creeping on them. It doesn't sound like they are expecting
for him to go with this trachia injury.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
That would be a blow as well.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
It would be huge because it's not even I know
we're gonna get to the duo.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
That's why you're not seeing.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
The efficiency in their run game the same way a
lot of those big screen plays and explosive plays. This
is a team that likes to do, just like Kansas City,
a lot of work at the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
They can't do well.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
A lot of their receiving stuff at the line of scrimmage,
throwing to the running backs out the backfield. This offensive
line is not playing the way that they had played
in the past with the injuries and the tight ends
not being able to hold up and hold up or
it's also causing a lot of issues with the efficiency
of their run game, well, the consistent efficiency in their

(27:52):
run game this year.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
So where do you feel like the Cowboys have that advantage,
Because now you look at the defensive line where you
may be without a Jadeveon Clowney. So where do you
feel like this could or do you feel like this
could be a game where Okay, maybe the Cowboys could
sit this one out of Jadeveon Clowney or.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
No, oh no, you can play, you go, you need him,
You need him on this one. Because with that one
two punch that they have with Montgomery and Gibbs.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Yeah, that's why this game scares me is they can
just do it on the ground and with the running
backs with Gibbs so great catching the ball too, and
screen game like you said. But something that was really
interesting about Jamiir Gibbs to put it in perspective, this
is only his third season. You still have five games

(28:43):
to play in your third season, and your Jamiir Gibbs.
This guy has forty four career touchdowns. Just to talk
about how prolific this Lion's offense is and what a
key part of it is. And by the way, he
shares carries with David Montgomery. Okay, so it's not like
he's Emmitt Smith out there in the nineties getting every

(29:06):
you know, every carry and every opportunity. And yet he's
been more productive in terms of scoring early in his
career than Emmitt Smith. So Cowboys fans, hear me, hear me,
he scored more touchdowns early in his career than Emmett Smith. Okay,
so Jamiir Gibbs has forty four, Emmett had forty three

(29:31):
thirty six of gibbs thirty six of his forty four
touchdowns are on the ground. The only players in NFL
history with more touchdowns in their first three seasons all
Hall of famers Barry Sanders, detroit Lyon Great, Eric Dickerson,
Gail Sayers, and Earl Campbell. So when Gibbs scores his

(29:53):
he needs two more touchdowns to tie Dickerson, Sayers, and
Earl Campbell with forty six and Barry Anders forty seven.
So you know, by mid December, by Christmas, this dude
is gonna likely have an NFL record. So that's just
how prolific they are. But yeah, that he scares me
as much, just the little short passes and yards after catch.

(30:16):
Then think of it as like extended handoffs. Oh yeah,
that's the way that they get the ball to him
in space. And he's so electric and so fast and
shifty that he can make guys. Miss Montgomery, who madd
Eberflus knows very well from Eberflus's time in Chicago, you know,
is more of the you know, kind of a more physical,

(30:38):
stronger kind of things, kind of a thunder and lightning.
Although they call him Sonic and Knuckles, so it's like
Sonic the Hedgehog. Yeah, so gives a Sonic the Hedgehog.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
Jamir gives rings third with one thousand, nineteen rushing yards
in the NFL. David Montgomery ads five hundred and forty three.
So obviously, as Christy said.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Yeah, thirteen touchdowns in twelve games. Pretty good, and they've
been not as prolific the past few weeks for some
of the things that you mentioned with some of their
missing Laporta, their tight end, and then some of the
injury issues along the offensive line.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
What's the number one key to slowing down a guy
like Jamior Gibbs.

Speaker 5 (31:15):
When you tackle him?

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's it's sure tackling in this game,
because we've seen through twelve games with the Cowboys offense
has done with yards aft to contact right with Avonte
Williams and with the receiving corps, and Detroit's even better
at it, or at least it feels like it. I mean,
just with how shifty some of those guys are so yeah,

(31:38):
it has to be sure tackling this week.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
Yeah, I mean this is a guy that has a
second gear, maybe a third.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
I mean when he puts his foot in the ground,
he plans and he sees what he sees. You know,
they like the breakaway speed is just impeccable. And you know,
with them doing so much, you know, out of the
backfield and stuff, his vision is fantastic as well.

Speaker 5 (32:00):
So when you talk about.

Speaker 6 (32:01):
Dallas, who hasn't played the screen game, you know entirely
well and things like that, I do worry. And these corners,
these corners are gonna have to also come you know,
the linebackers are being able to play a little a
lot cleaner because of the defensive line now, but these
corners are going to have to come up and tackle
on some of these spots too. As this team attacks

(32:22):
the flats. You know, this is an offense that will
go jumbo. They'll bring in some extra offensive line and
a lot of that is because of the point that
Christy brought up earlier is that the tight ends are
kind of banged up, so they they are intent on
still trying to run the ball. So I expect for
them to still do it even though Dallas puts pressure
on you two pass I expect for them to try

(32:44):
to get these guys going in the run game. One
thing that stands out to me is how much they
run to the right. It's their their third highest run
rate to the right, which is fifty six point three
percent of the time they're running the ball to the right,
and they are averaging six point six yards up her
carry to the right side of that offense, on that
offensive line.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
The power side.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
So when earlier when you mentioned Jadeveon Clowney, that's his
matchup and that's why I get Christie's stress. Stress now again,
so what I don't I think these guys are smart
enough to look within matchups. What I mean by that
is the lines are good enough to look within matchups.
But again, you know, the other good era edge defender

(33:29):
that you have is don Vaneziraku. We don't see him
really switch sides that much. Is that something that Dallas
maybe looks at as well? If that's the strong if
that's the strong side of this offensive line, do you
put him on that side and then put another gentleman
on the weaker side of that offensive line?

Speaker 5 (33:44):
To kind of balance things out.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
If Clowney can't go, I think that's something to take
a look at as well. But yeah, this run game
for them can really be damaging. One thing I will
say when it comes to turnovers, David Montgomery has had
not a fumble issue in his career, but it comes up.

Speaker 5 (33:59):
He has two fun lost this year.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
I'm hoping that Dallas, you know, maybe punch the ball out,
you know, get this team to turn the ball over,
because unless they're passing, they're not really turning the ball
over a whole bunch.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, And just I say one one more thing real
quickly about the defense, and that is Shoddy said something
really interesting on Sunday, and it was in answer to
the question about Detroit going for it so much on
fourth down articles and basically, if it's fourth and three,
fourth and four, fourth and five, they're going for it basically,

(34:35):
And so you he was saying that as a defensive coordinator,
defensive staff, you have to come in with more third
down plays on your call sheet, on your defensive call sheet,
because they're basically approaching it and this is part their
run game. Two, they don't play three downs and then
concede that it's going to be a punt. You're basically

(34:57):
playing two thirty downs because they're going to go for
it likely on fourth down. So isn't that interesting You
have to bring more third down play calls on your
sheet as a coordinate defensive coordinator because they go for
it so often on fourth down.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
And but the Cowboys have faced teams that have gone
for it at least at least you play a team
like that in your division that has kind of done.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
But there's but Phillies is a toush push.

Speaker 6 (35:23):
Yeah, it's not as yes, and it's not as explosive
in that sense, but it's just for short yardage. So
this is a little bit more unpredictable.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Yeah, So I that's one thing, just just little football
nerd in me. That's that's what I want to talk
to some of the defensive coaches about in the pre
game and say, tell me about that, like, how many
if you have this many on a sheet and it's
normally this many calls, how many do you have for
this game?

Speaker 4 (35:47):
So even the players, though, how does that even stress
you as a player when you're having to play basically
two third downs?

Speaker 6 (35:54):
Well, the defense is just going to have to that
what they have to be very good early on early down.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yes, keep keep them behind the sticks on first and
second down to make the third and fourth, you know,
because I mean more. If it's third and sick, they're not,
you know, if it's third and five, third and six,
depending on where it is on the field. But basically
forty plus. The more they go, they're going for it.

Speaker 6 (36:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
The more you Dan Campbell, ain't changing the stripes.

Speaker 6 (36:18):
Your playbook opens up and yours yours to me clothes.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Close, I guess, but it expands because you have to
have more third down calls. So yeah, it's that way.

Speaker 5 (36:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
So all right, we're gonna take our second break here
on Girls Talk, Boys talk, and we've got more bulls

Dang it?

Speaker 7 (40:12):

Here we go. Okay, you're already for number one?

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Yeah, hit us with your best shot on straight out

Speaker 7 (40:21):
Heck, yeah, that's what I'm here for.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
Lions failed to convert a fourth down one one, just one. Yeah,
they failed to convert a fourth down, so they go
zero and whatever on fourth.

Speaker 5 (40:35):
Now I'm going bullseye.

Speaker 6 (40:36):
Heck yeah wait wait oh wait, no, I thought you
were just saying like one singular one.

Speaker 5 (40:41):
You're saying in general, you're saying like.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
The at least.

Speaker 5 (40:47):
That's confident varnacles.

Speaker 7 (40:50):
You're just talking about it. That's what I was like, Bust,
I'm gonna go bulls eye.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
You're feeling they have actually been poor on that's part
of their downfall recently. Hang on, where's that?

Speaker 5 (41:03):
Because then just be like go for it.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
Here's here's the thing. The last two last two losses
for Detroit, oh for seven on fourth down. Green Bay
stopped them all three times that they tried on Thanksgiving
Day on fourth down, so that one of them was
to drop past by Gibbs. So kind of some self
inflicted things there. But oh for seven on fourth down

(41:26):
and their last two losses, so it's possible. It's possible. Bullseye.

Speaker 5 (41:31):
Yeah, you know what I feel you on that.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
Oh you're switching? No no, no, okay, that bus all right?

Speaker 6 (41:39):
Now that they they plan for day life, Yeah, they
playing for day life that has better come prepared.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
Yeah, they planning for day life.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
It was Dallas, that's fact, it's true.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
All right, return you haven't been here, Okay, Bullseye or bus,
that's fine. More time.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
I got to put more base in there, a.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Little bit, Bullsye or bus.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
That was good.

Speaker 7 (42:00):
I felt that one.

Speaker 5 (42:01):
Yeah, seriousness in my face.

Speaker 7 (42:05):
It was great. Jamiir Gibbs.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
Is held without an explosive run of fifteen plus yards.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
Mmm.

Speaker 7 (42:16):
I'm feeling obviously I'm just gonna be.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
A dang it which you can go bull Oh yeah,
I'm feeling like, okay.

Speaker 7 (42:27):
Like this Deepen is gonna be swarming to the football.

Speaker 5 (42:29):
I believe that they are too.

Speaker 6 (42:30):
I think those five man friends are gonna give give
them some issues in Jered Goff is a you know,
the statue of Liberty.

Speaker 8 (42:37):
So yeah, what.

Speaker 7 (42:41):
Are you already?

Speaker 3 (42:42):
Christy? It's your turn, Bullseye or bust.

Speaker 5 (42:47):
Sound like a video game. It's so good.

Speaker 7 (42:51):
Jake Ferguson scores a red zone touchdown.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Let's yeah, let's go Bullseye.

Speaker 5 (43:00):
Yeah look yeah, it's ferg ain't getting enough love. But
he's looking spry.

Speaker 3 (43:03):
Absolutely, he's he is.

Speaker 6 (43:05):
He definitely looks like, you know, Dallas has gotten him
the ball in space, you know, the huge grab you
know last week.

Speaker 5 (43:12):
I just feel like, you know, against Philly even so,
he looks they're trying to get him the ball on
the move more.

Speaker 6 (43:18):
Dallas has been taking advantage of how deep safeties and
corners are playing and really attacking the flats for He's
been a bit part of that.

Speaker 5 (43:24):
But they have intently been trying to get him the
ball downfield.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
And he looks himself.

Speaker 12 (43:28):
I did.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
Yeah. And by the way, you remember his Pro Bowl
season a couple of years ago. Hey, he's only two
catches away from matching excuse me, surpassing that and setting
a career high. He's got seventy receptions coming into this game.
But yes, I like that. Let's go bullseye on red
zone touchdown. Here we go, all right, bullseye or bust.

Speaker 7 (43:49):
Dallas rushes for over one hundred and twenty five yards.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Oh, one hundred and twenty five. You know, I think
I'm gonna go bust just because I think it's going
to be more through the air in this game.

Speaker 6 (44:00):
Mm hmm, what are you thinking I'm gonna go? I'm
gonna go a bust as well.

Speaker 5 (44:07):
I think it is.

Speaker 6 (44:08):
Even if they do run the ball, I think it's
gonna look like passes and stuff.

Speaker 5 (44:14):
These Honestly, these games a little bit more similar than
what people give it.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
Great, Oh for sure, go ahead, Sure we gotta coe,
we gotta go.

Speaker 7 (44:22):
It's fine.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
Here we go Bullseye or bust. George Pickens leads both
teams and receiving yards.

Speaker 6 (44:30):
I'm wow, I'm going bullseye. Had they secondary they want
to press though they want to.

Speaker 5 (44:39):
Okay, I'm going Bullseye.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
Okay, sure, let's go bulls.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
I think is gonna have a great Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (44:44):
Do too, Bullseye or.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
Bus.

Speaker 7 (44:49):
Quinn Williams records one and a half sacks and three
tackles for loss.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
One and a half sacks. I wouldn't because i USh
is right golf his statue of liberty. He's a pocket
and not gonna you know, it's not like the last
couple of weeks where you have to worry about hurts
and Mahomes escaping and hurting you with his legs. I'm
going I don't know about the TfL, so I don't
know about the tackles for losses. I'll go bust, just

(45:15):
because that is an amazing stuff defensive tackle. I would
take one, not the other.

Speaker 6 (45:22):
Okay, on that, I'm gonna go bust. But I do
think what's happening at that center position. Keep an eye
this week on Glasgow and if he ends up playing,
because I don't know, I think it's colin a Cologne colon.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
It looks like colon, but I believe it's pronounced cologne.

Speaker 5 (45:39):
Got it, Cologne babying, got it.

Speaker 6 (45:43):
And you know, interior pressure really gives Jared Goff a
hard time. You see almost a fifty percent dropping his
efficiency when he's pressured. If he's clean, he'll dice you up.
If he has too much pressure in the front, he
will definitely get jittery. So I'm gonna go bust. But
I do think that the interior defensive line osah, it's
gonna come home.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
Yeah, I think they're gonna They're gonna eat in terms
of past pressure, our.

Speaker 4 (46:05):
Last one, last one guys, sorry, bulls Eye or Bust
Tomorrovin Overshown leads the Cowboys in tackle.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
I'll go with that because he's gonna be my farmer's
dog of the game. Yeah, go ahead, Yeah, I'm going
with him. Just because I think again, tackling is so important,
and I think there's gonna be a lot of stuff
open space. Don't let these guys, you know, break free
out of open space. I think the most is gonna
have a lot of opportunity.

Speaker 7 (46:36):
I'm gonna go.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
Do good one. I don't think they're gonna move him
to the right side, but on that left side, like
we've already talked about, there's some opportunities for.

Speaker 7 (46:45):
Him to possibly get home. So I'm gonna go Donovan.

Speaker 8 (46:50):
I like that.

Speaker 10 (46:51):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (46:52):
Uh for me, it's gonna be whoever is definded. I
guess it could be Drawn Bland or savone Ravel, whichever
one is defending Jamison Williams, He's gonna if Amara can't go,
he automatically steps in as their number one. Basically, he's
their middle of the field tech attack threat. This big body.

(47:15):
He's dealt with some drops this year. You know, if
he has some drops, is there gonna be opportunity for
past breakups things like that. I'm gonna go with whatever
whoever the slot corner is gonna be, which we don't
know yet at this point.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
Yeah, because they if Diggs plays and they let him
work some outside. Then Bland may play more than Stewart inside,
but James Watt I don't.

Speaker 5 (47:36):
Know they move Jamison inside out.

Speaker 6 (47:38):
But I will also note that most of most of
Jared Goff's interceptions have come from the middle of the
field when he is attacking Jamison Williams because he is not.

Speaker 5 (47:48):
A super separation guy.

Speaker 6 (47:50):
So maybe Dallas Waps' opportunity to take the ball away
in the middle of the field. Six touchdowns on the year,
seven hundred and six yards for jameson Woods.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
And an interesting we all went defense on our farmer's dog.

Speaker 2 (48:01):
That.

Speaker 5 (48:01):
Yeah, because I just think of it.

Speaker 6 (48:02):
I really feel like we should have confidence in this offense.
We should have more confidence in this offense. So, I
mean their linebacker cork and you really get after it.
They got some guys missing on the back end. I
think Dallas really takes advantage of the guys being out
on the back.

Speaker 3 (48:14):
Yeah, I do see this as a shootouts.

Speaker 7 (48:16):
I think this you wow, copyright It's fine.

Speaker 5 (48:21):
No, I didn't see all of it.

Speaker 7 (48:23):
We have a lot of confidence in this Cowboys team,
so I don't know. Christy didn't sound distressed. It's fine.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
I'm stressed.

Speaker 4 (48:29):
We should be stressed, but it's all right because they're
gonna pull it out. We're gonna come back on Friday.
They're gonna be talking about a win.

Speaker 7 (48:34):
How about that. We're gonna claim it.

Speaker 3 (48:35):
Your lips to God's ears?

Speaker 7 (48:37):
Hello, that part, that's all right.

Speaker 4 (48:38):
We're wrapping these up here on Cowboys Girls, star Boys Talk.
Persent in my visit line, Hyshan Morrison, Christy Scales, I'm
Nicole Hutchison.

Speaker 7 (48:46):
We'll be back here on Friday morning at eight am.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
