Speaker 2 (00:10):
This is Girls Talk, Boys Talk, presented by Invisi Line,
trusted by over five hundred NFL players for their winning smiles,
and broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star.
Now your host, Nicole Hutchison.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
What's up, everybody? Welcome to Girls Talk, Boys Talk, presented
by Invisi Line. Aisha Morrison, Brie Aldred, Nicole Hutchison out
in Oxnard'm jessinvar.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
As your host for today. Ladies.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
I know our interest said, we're basically all smiles, but
unfortunately we're not because of some injury updates and some
injury news that came across throughout the last time that
we got to talk. Let's get right to it, because
a man, there's.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
A lot to talk about.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Let's start with cornerback Kaylen Carson Todd Archer reporting that
he got a hyper extended knee and he will be
out for four to six weeks. If you're doing the math,
the math is in fact mathing because that needs a
potential week one comeback, if not week two.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
So it's right on the cusp. Ladies.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Obviously, the downfall of this is, well, he needed the
practice reps in the cornerback room looking real thin.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
So the Cowboys said, well, time to go shopping.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Cornerback Christian Matthew your newest Dallas Cowboy this edition.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
There's not much really to see of him.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
He's only had three NFL starts. He reunites with Matt
Eberflus as he spent some time with him at the
Bears Over there, Ladies, let's start with this cornerback room.
What the four to six week loss of Kaylen Carson
does for this room where you.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Start with go ahead of cool?
Speaker 6 (02:01):
Okay, I'm sorry, I was all sorry, no, yeah, no,
it's kind of it sucks that, you know, Kaylan is
having to be.
Speaker 7 (02:11):
Out or sidelined for a little bit because you know,
obviously he battled that injury shoulder injury last year in
his rookie season. And I actually saw him when I
was taping inside Cowboys training camp and just asked him like, hey, like,
you know, are you okay mentally and he said, yeah,
like you just gotta do what you gotta do to,
you know, make sure he gets back on the field.
But in terms of what it does through this cornerback room.
(02:35):
They just took a hit because you had guys like
Kayln Carson, who were, you know, kind of playing first
and second team reps taking first and second team rep
excuse me, Andrew Booth as well, who probably had his
best day out here yesterday and the day before had
a PBu on Jalen Tolbert. Uh So that's also a
detrimental hit to you as well. You don't we don't
(02:56):
know the update just yet, but just be on the lookout.
They were kind of playing Israel Mikuamu at corner and
they also him taking snaps at safety as well. So like,
I mean, there's there's a little bit of depth there,
but not proven depth, and that's been the biggest thing
for this team and pretty much every position last year,
(03:16):
especially like there hasn't been a lot of proven guys,
and then they just brought in another unproven guy. So
I mean, but you just never really know what happened
to those guys who you have a guy like Kyrie
Elam who is playing his best right now that he
has probably in his entire career. So yeah, I mean,
it's obviously a detrimental hit to this cornerback room, but
(03:37):
it's something that they just got to figure out and
figure out fast.
Speaker 8 (03:41):
Yeah, basically how Nicole started this sucks. We talked about
it all summer about this being one of the groups
that was already coming in. Then that was really my
top two at the top of the list that I
was concerned about.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
You start camp with two guys already.
Speaker 8 (03:57):
On the publist, talking about Trayvon Diggs and Josh but
live course trying to work back. You have some you know,
optimism about what Revel can do in that group. Can't
forget about him, but he's also came into camp injured.
Nicole just mentioned Andrew Booth, right, that's going pretty deep
down on the depth chart, and that is also injured.
Kyer Elim I think is the most optimism I can
(04:18):
see in this group because I keep I haven't been
out there. I'm excited to get there Sunday, but I
keep hearing him making plays. We saw him lifting a
baby a couple.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Of days ago.
Speaker 8 (04:28):
Right, There's some exciting things happening, but like Nicole said,
there's no proven pieces there, and you attested to it.
When we mentioned Christian Matthew. I tried to kind of
look up. I reached out to some people that actually
coached along with him, but there was just not a
lot there because they haven't been able to see it right.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
He former seventh.
Speaker 8 (04:51):
Round pick twenty twenty two draft, did play his most
games in his rookie season with the Cardinals, which I thought,
I always take a look at that when I see
a kid or not kid.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
A grown man have twenty He played in.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Twenty games, didn't have a lot of starts.
Speaker 8 (05:06):
But when most of those games are played in the
rookie season, but the drop off comes in the second
season when he's not injured, that is something I you know,
what happened there? And then obviously to bring in a
guy another injured guy or coming off an injured guy,
I'm kind of looking.
Speaker 9 (05:18):
At the why.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
I feel like there's a lot of other pieces cornerbacks
that maybe could.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Be available that aren't being used.
Speaker 8 (05:26):
But we kind of like, why are we going after
somebody else who's unproven and injured. It just he fits
the mold, But that's not which to be the goal
right now. But what is your look on that?
Speaker 9 (05:35):
As I don't know if I have one. I don't
know if I have one. I mean specifically for Kayln Carson.
Speaker 10 (05:42):
I just feel like it's pivotal for him because because
of everything that you ladies have you know, laid out
in regard to the cornerback room, there's opportunity there. There's
opportunity to win a spot or to you know, take
advantage of the reps that you're getting in that moment.
Speaker 9 (05:58):
And so we're really hoping that.
Speaker 10 (05:59):
Kaylyn Carson will be able to take a step forward
and be able to be a consistent on the field.
You mentioned Kayr Elim and we got to get eyes
on him while he was physically here. Definitely saw his
confidence and stuff and him coming along has been big.
I know, Nicole, those guys are taking the ball away
at a high clip and playing with some ferocity out there,
especially now that they're in pads. The playing field is
(06:21):
a little even a little more even because as we see,
like you know, with the secondary, we've seen that the
receivers are having you know, some spots where they're having.
Speaker 9 (06:29):
A little bit of trouble.
Speaker 10 (06:30):
So that's encouraging but disappointing all the way around. And
my biggest thing is is like even with Carson, you know,
working to get back from injury. What happens if one
of those other guys that are you know, on pub
or or whatever the case may be, is available, how
is that gonna fold? I think this room is gonna
change regardless when you know when and if a Savann
(06:52):
Ravel is ready to go or Trayvon Diggs is ready
to go. I think this was an opportunity for Kayln
Carson to keep his name in the mix when those
this decisions are made about who's gonna have to sit
down and who's gonna play, And it's just a bummer
for him, So Israemacuamu Keemon Hall. Those gentlemen will have
to step up in his absence.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Another thing kind of about Kayln Carson is he had
a disappointing year last year, given he was dealing with
the shoulder injury that seemed to just be nagging week
after week after week, and I think longer than even
he anticipated for it to be just a nagging, hurting shoulder.
The problem is is that that essentially did not showcase
(07:31):
what he came in here speaking about, which was I'm
the human seatbelt. I'm gonna lock people up, You're gonna
you're not gonna see people move past me. I'm gonna
sure tackle. I mean, he had a lot to say
and he was very high coming out of the draft,
and because of that injury, yeah, people were kind of like, ugh,
I don't know. And so this was the training camp
to me that year two jump pivotal for the rest
(07:53):
of what you're defined as for your career. And not
to say it can't come back from this injury. I
really hope for his sake that he does. He has
a lot of people to prove wrong. But Nicole, I
am glad that you asked how he was mentally because
something about Kaylen Carson is he's kind of quiet when
you first get to talk to.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Him and know him.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
But I feel like just that confidence boost from playing
well again, you're gonna kind of see him spark. So
I'm bummed that that could come, you know, later than
we anticipated. And that again means a delayed development because
now that training camp period that you have, that development time,
you're not going to see it essentially until week five,
week six of the regular season, when you already need
(08:34):
people to start forming their peak of potential. Right. So
bummed for Kaylin, Bummed for that cornerback room that cannot
catch a break from that injury bug. But on the
other side of the ball, ladies, some news that came
out yesterday which had us all on a little emotional
rollercoaster to say, at the very least, our heart rates.
(08:57):
I know my watch told me I need to relax
little bit. When I saw that, definitely, I was on
the pod.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
I was like, Dad, no oh, no, hate to break
your heart like this, Dad.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
But offensive tackle Tyler Geiton bone fracture on his knee
expected to miss four to six weeks. The next two
days will determine a sure recovery time, according to Nick Harris,
he put out a tweet saying, you know, just trying
to make sure exactly what that recovery time is going
to be for his knee. The good thing is is
(09:29):
that Nick also tweeted he's not expected to start the
season on IR So that's more positive than the initial
report of what we all thought it would be. Ladies,
another another year, another year of shuffling that O line.
How how does this impact the offensive line and Nicole
especially from who was getting those first team reps after losing.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Rob Jones for the season as well.
Speaker 10 (09:55):
Can't get can't one of you ladies, clarify how to
say how keen.
Speaker 7 (10:02):
I dentergy identity.
Speaker 8 (10:05):
The energy that's gonna throw the energy I gotta learn it.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Hey, clues, don't get me started. I'll write another poem.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
Sounds good, Okay, so.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
Identity, Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
And the call give us the full No, you're good?
Speaker 7 (10:22):
Oh no, No. I was just gonna say, like, when
it happened, you could like it was quiet, like it
felt like if it was an enclosed space, like someone
just took the air out of it. When Tyler Giden
went down, obviously you saw him in a couple of videos.
Hey got the c video of him walking off the field,
(10:44):
and you know, Michael Parsons helped alongside of him, helping
him off the field shouts and Michael, by the way,
he's been showing a lot of leadership out here, So
I just want to make sure that we point that
out as well. But uh no, yeah, when that happened,
it was unfortunate. But especially for someone who I mean
we've been talking about every single week, is the fact
that he put in so much work this offseason, so
(11:05):
much he changed his body, started eating better, taking care
of his body, worked on his footwork and you can
see even in his in his reps like he's not
over setting too much, you know, and especially with faster
pass rushers who have quicker hands like Donovan Azarakho. He's
won quite a few of those battles. So it's been
good to see him improved so much. But I mean,
(11:27):
you expected him to come out, you know, and have
a great year. Obviously that's delayed. But you have guys
like Nate Thomas, who Brian Schottenheimer's very high on Awesome
Richards as well, who has kind of taken right tackle
reps behind a cheme identity when he replaced Terrence Steel.
So there's a lot of movement around pieces that I
(11:48):
feel like they have to do and they'll continue to do.
But I think for the left tackle side you have
Awesome Richards who has been known for being that swing tackle,
or Nate Thomas. I think they're gonna try to cooquem
identergy on the right side.
Speaker 10 (12:02):
Okay, yeah, that's something that I know I heard Brian
brought us mention is that it seems like they're gonna
allow guys to play the sides that they are, you know,
known to be playing, and identity is a guy that
does have some swing flex but if they are more
comfortable with him at right. We saw him step in
when Terren Steele was out, and honestly, seeing Terren Steell
(12:23):
get out there yesterday, seeing some of the stuff he
was able to do from the clips, you know, and
hearing some of the reports getting out in space showing
off that athleticism.
Speaker 9 (12:31):
I mean, good on.
Speaker 10 (12:32):
Him again for being able to battle back after we
thought I was scared too. For him too, I was
scared too, So having him back out there is a
big deal as well. But in regard to Tyler Guiden,
just I'm bummed because of the trajectory he was on. Obviously,
momentum is a thing, confidence is a thing. But he
seems very focused in a sense that I'm not worried
(12:53):
about him being able to come back and be able
to kind of fit back into what he was already doing.
These coaches have expressed that they want him to do
what he is good at, and I think they allowed
him to do that, and that's kind of why he's thriving.
Speaker 9 (13:04):
And then Austin Richard's.
Speaker 10 (13:05):
Kind of being in the mix and they're using him
in a tight end capacity and having him move across,
like moving him in line so he can help with
the blocking and separate and get into the second level too.
Speaker 9 (13:16):
So I see the vision, we just gotta wait.
Speaker 10 (13:20):
Yeah, it feels like I see the vision, but it's
kind of like, we gotta wait.
Speaker 8 (13:24):
To me, this is like one of the guys. It's
the two guys. We're talking Aboutkayln Clarson. Like you said,
all the injuries, we didn't really get see him in
his rookie season. And then you got Tyler guy In,
who's on this mission. Like Nicole just said, he was,
you know, very adamant, like it wasn't good enough. I'm
not going to be the reason why this this team
can't run the ball.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
I'm not gonna be the weak link on the O line.
Speaker 8 (13:42):
That's not And it was just like this is a
this is a different type of Tyler guy In, and
so this is these.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Are the two people you wanted to see take that leap.
Speaker 8 (13:50):
And they're both going to be out for at least
the next month, which is kind of tough, but again,
they're not out for the season. It's just okay, we
just they just have to figure out they're going to do
for camp and who's gonna get in there, and then
most likely with Goe, you're not gonna.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
See I highly doubt that Tyler guy.
Speaker 8 (14:06):
And even though he'll be available in best case scenario
week one, I highly doubt that they're gonna throw him
in there. Why would you rush your left tackle, your
starting left tackle.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Against an Eagle's I just don't.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
See that happening personally.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
I think this is something where Okay, now, like Nicole said,
Austin Richards has been going back and forth.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
They throw them in there.
Speaker 8 (14:28):
And you you go in as Brian Schottenheimer, and Okay,
we know where the weakness is. How do we make
this not the biggest liability and how do we not
get exposed?
Speaker 3 (14:41):
How do we how do.
Speaker 8 (14:42):
We make our offense not lean so hard on that position?
Speaker 7 (14:47):
See that?
Speaker 10 (14:47):
See That's my thing though, It's like, that's the thing
that I'm stressed out about, is the fact that this
interior offensive line is going to move people off the ball.
Like the way that they are running the ball and
the way that they're trying to orchestraate and push in
the middle doing combo blocks and stuff. Your tackles are
being to be more there acts to be athletic and
not powerful, and that's fine.
Speaker 9 (15:07):
I like that. I, however, don't want.
Speaker 10 (15:11):
The tight ends to be designated blockers. So I'm hoping
that one of these veterans that steps in, or a
Nate Thomas whomever, is a guy that can hold his own.
Maybe they chip every now and then, maybe whatever, but
it can't be you gotta go max protect every single
time because this tackle cannot hold up. You need your
tight ends to be interchangeable. We've been seeing how much
(15:33):
he use this hundred lifties getting being able to do
stuff Jake Ferguson. Obviously, brevenstamp span Ford is gonna be
out with the ankle, but Schoonmaker, your tight ends need
to be a part of your passing game, and they
literally cannot if you always gotta help hide your tackles.
Speaker 9 (15:48):
So, for the love of muffins, hopefully.
Speaker 10 (15:50):
This gives somebody time to gain some confidence, get comfortable
so you can go run your offense like.
Speaker 9 (15:55):
You want to.
Speaker 10 (15:56):
I don't want it to be too much of a
drop off because I'm yeah, I don't want to.
Speaker 9 (16:01):
I don't want to have to be limited because of that.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I doubt yeah well, and I also.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
I get so frustrated for this offensive line because you know,
it's they have not had an opportunity to just have
their line set and get rep after rep after rep.
I mean for the past what three years, every time
and it's.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
It's frustrating, it is.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
And you know, we know the nature of injuries for
offensive linemen in this league. We understand that, but especially
for this type of player like you were going, like
you said, Brie, Tyler Goyton second year player really need
to make that jump.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
I think the biggest.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
Difference when you're comparing like Kaylan Carson and Tyler got
into needing to make those year two jumps is the
confidence level that you see in Tyler Guyton is noticeable. Yeah,
And with Kaylan Carson it's not as noticeable. He's kind
of one of those guys that gets lost in the
shuffle as compared to Tyler Gotton. Like you know, no,
not saying Kayln Carson didn't put in the work and
do what he needed to do this offseason, but Tyler
(17:04):
Guy and you can tell mentally, came in here ready
to work, ready to shut up everybody up that had
anything negative to say and prove that what you saw
last year wasn't his best, and he admits that. So
when you see a guy that comes in put the
work in with veteran players, put the time in to
gain that muscle mass, work on his feet, work on
(17:24):
his hands, do everything he needed to do, this just
it's a confidence blowing and it sucks.
Speaker 7 (17:29):
So yeah, all that time question, but I got a
questional faith.
Speaker 9 (17:35):
Yeah all mine?
Speaker 6 (17:36):
Okay, do y'all feel sorry?
Speaker 7 (17:38):
Do y'all feel more comfortable? I mean, obviously, I think
that's obviously answers yet, but I don't know. Why do
you all feel more comfortable with the dip they had
on the offensive mine this year rather than last year?
Speaker 6 (17:52):
Obviously?
Speaker 9 (17:53):
Yes, why I would say? I would say, I would
say I.
Speaker 10 (17:59):
Feel a little more comfortable in what we've seen from
Nate Thomas. And I'm not sure about awesome because they're
moving him around a little bit more and.
Speaker 9 (18:10):
Also his feet look a little slower than what I remember,
and I know liked that.
Speaker 10 (18:14):
But I do feel a little bit more comfortable because
of the interior and because of the scheme and the
way that we go back to a Clayton Adams coming
from Arizona.
Speaker 9 (18:26):
We've talked about it at nauseum.
Speaker 10 (18:28):
Is that that offensive line was not full of stars.
That offensive line had one first rounder on it, and
they were very efficient running the ball. So it's also
to the clipboard warriors, like, I think you got I
think you got people with clipboards in their hands that
can orchestrate how to run this ball efficiently and it
(18:48):
not looks so clunky and Mike crazy. So to me,
I think you can get away with it, especially given
kind of how they're running the ball. Maybe, but I
do feel more confident this year than last year because
of the skiing personally and the interior personally.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
What about you me?
Speaker 5 (19:04):
The interior one hundred and ten percent?
Speaker 8 (19:07):
Like yeah, Like when you look at especially, I think
and I think more is.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Obviously the rookies.
Speaker 8 (19:14):
Were the question marks, right, we just haven't seen what
they can do, and bbe is a reason why I'm confident.
We're looking at that interior part and the anchor of
the old line. Now, I don't the day we're going
comparing with Kaylin and guy in Guyan had our heart
stop because Guyon is a known starter. I know Sewanheimer's like,
we're gonna have the best five, yes, but we know
(19:36):
that is including Tyler Guyant. So that's what hers smo's
And I think what I learned from the injury feared
to be a torn acl that initial Ian Rappaport, what
he was reporting at the time, I think that taught
me how important Tyler Geyden is to this everybody because
they was like, oh no, Tyler Smith is gonna go
(19:57):
here and everybody's freaking out and he's the only person
and who can keep it. I think Austome Richards can
handle it temporarily. That's not who you want to see, you.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Know, throughout the season.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
So I have faith at Austin Richards and Ryan Schachtenheimer's
scheme has played. Look, he's not gonna he sees what
we see. He knows what he's missing. He knows the
Eagles are gonna try to cook a little bit, right.
We know what they bring defensively, So it's gonna be
a challenge one hundred and ten percent. But I think,
like I should just said what they are planning to be.
(20:30):
This is going to be a run first team. In
my mind, what I'm seeing, I think they can disguise
it now. It's gonna be a fight week one. It
changes how I look at Week one.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Do I feel better about it than I did last year.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Uh, I feel indifferent, Like I don't feel any different
about it because it still stresses me out that you're
starting five can't.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Just get reps together. Like either way, if.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
You're comparing last year to this year, it's just the
it's frustrating for everybody.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
It's frustrating for these guys. And then I think breed
to your point.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Hearing about Tyler Guitton going down, I was like, Op,
Tyler Smith doesn't get to just stay where he needs
to stay like that also is one of those things
where it's like keep guys where they need to be stars.
And I understand, yes, you want your best five, but
you need to find a way to do that without
shifting people around and depending on the fact that you
have that.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
It's a good thing.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
When you need it, but the immediate oh, Tyler, Tyler
Smith needs to shift over. No, I don't want to
see him shift. Let him be he is your cornerstone.
Like I think, to me, what is the most.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Frustrating from last year to this year is.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
It's just continuously trying to figure out how you get
all these guys to stay healthy.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
And that's the nature of the business.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
So when anybody comes up with a secret formula to
keep these guys, all these guys healthy all year like,
let us know.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
But it's just these injury bugs.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
And I guess it was better to happen now than
happen later in camp and then dip into the season.
But just rather it not happen at all. But with that, ladies,
we're gonna take our first break.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
When we come back.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
There's plenty more injuries to talk about. Unfortunately, we're gonna
dive deep into that. And then it's QB one's birthday.
We're gonna talk a little bit DAK when we come
back as well. This is Girls Talk, Boys Talk, presented
by Invis Line.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
We'll be back.
Speaker 11 (22:24):
How do you tell the world about all the great
gifts in the Yetti store? Letter Rip Troy.

Girls Talkboys Talk, presented by in visit Line bri Aldrich,
Aishi Morrison, Nicole Hutchinson out in SNAr Jessnovar as your
host Ford the Day. Unfortunately, Uh, we spent our whole
first segment talking about injuries, and we're gonna continue to
do so because there's more. So let's just go down
this list and then we'll decide which way we want
to go from there. All right, tight end Brevin span
(25:14):
Ford an ankle injury, expected to miss a few days. Uh,
Terrence Still an ankle injury. Slowly working his way back
in so that's positive. That's good news. Running Back Duce
Vaughan has a hamstring injury. He's supposed to return some
point this week. Wide receiver Paris Campbell has a lower
leg injury.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Expected to miss a few days.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
Safety one Yate Thomas has a lower lower leg lower
body injury.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
It's TVD on what his timeline will be. And that
is the end of my list. Nicole, did I miss anybody? There?
Speaker 4 (25:45):
We go, ladies, goodness out of this laundry list of
names going into this next week of training camp, which
one stands out to you the most as far as
you know, taking a hit to their room individual and why, oh.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
Yeah, I was on a stay corner. But I mean
that's obviously the biggest one, obviously offensive line with guy
In and Kayln Carson. But I think the other one
Brebn Svan Forward, even though it's not long, it's just
missing those crucial opportunities and crucial reps him because he
was having a great start to his camp. But I
(26:26):
mean it opened up the door for guys like John Stevens,
who you know, obviously had his first two seasons derailed
because of you know, his injuries. So yeah, I mean
I think all those injuries are very crucial. But if
I have to choose one outside of guy In and
Kayln Carson, I'd go with the tight Ends.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
Yeah, I would honestly piggyback off that because I mean,
it's camp. You can't qubble wrap these guys as much
as we want to. There's gonna be some guys that
get banged up. Obviously, when we're talking about months, then
that's something to talk about. But I look at the
tight End room, they Cowboys has made it very clear
who they're going to be building around, right, shout out
to Jake Ferguson getting his bag.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
What is he the seventh highest paid.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
To run?
Speaker 5 (27:14):
Okay, so I was I have to say that was something.
Speaker 8 (27:19):
The way that Jerry speaks about his contract situations, it
seems like he wants his players to go.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Out there and prove it if you will.
Speaker 8 (27:29):
Now, I'm starting to feel like those are for the
players who want to be the highest paid players. Now,
I think the deal with Jake Ferguson is fair because
as much as I am a fan of Jake Ferguson,
especially twenty twenty three, Jake Ferguson, he is not coming off.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
He's coming off his worst year. I mean, that's just
playing what it was, right.
Speaker 8 (27:50):
But I think it shows a lot from the Cowboys
to get this deal done. I think it makes sense
for both ends. And then now, okay, who else is?
Who else is going to be in that room to
help out Ferguson. I think Ayisha always talks about how
he was the designated blocker right last year, so that's
another reason why.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
He no touchdowns?
Speaker 9 (28:10):
Correct?
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (28:11):
So, I mean the boy couldn't do what he was
what he's now paid to do, right, so so yeah,
I mean that's when I look at injuries, that's probably
the room that I'm like, Okay, who's gonna we know
what Jake's about to do. Jakes about to play like
he just got paid, So what is what are the
other guys gonna do in that room? Schoomaker. I remember
him stepping up moments last year and things like that.
So I'm excited to see what that group does. But yeah,
(28:33):
when we're talking about injuries, I expect that list, unfortunately,
to keep growing.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
That's just the name of the game. When we're in pats.
Speaker 7 (28:39):
Yeah, I know who I knew who you I have.
I was young, gonna guess who you was gonna say,
but go ahead, no girl, no, no.
Speaker 9 (28:47):
No no. So the Breven thing, obviously, I'm gonna it's.
Speaker 10 (28:51):
It's super important because of his husage so far, it
has been very clear that he and Dak have obviously
been working together off the field, and that's something they've
talked about. But he is such a big body. The
work he has also done. I mean, we talk about
Tyler Guidon, also talk about Burban span for one of
the highest, higher paid, highest paid undrafted free agents in
(29:11):
the NFL.
Speaker 9 (29:12):
In general.
Speaker 10 (29:12):
Last year, there were expectations for him coming in he
had a down year last year to his standards, even himself,
to come in here and show the ability as a receiver,
even just they haven't really started doing red zone work,
but he is a guy that I think would be
huge when you want to work the red zone. So
for him to kind of get out of his groove
a little bit was a little you know, saddening, and
Dak is looking for him as he's scrambling. But douce
(29:35):
Vaughan is the one that stands out to me because
of the fact that you know, you started seeing duce
Vaughan use some of his vision, bounce to the outside.
You know, this this offensive line is going to I
think this run game is going to attack the interior
and kind of inside, but they're also going to attack
the edges. And you got some guys. Those speedy guys
are the guys that can attack that. Jaydon Blue is
(29:57):
showing a little bit of an uptick, you know, the
running backs kind of getting a fair shake with the
pads on and I feel like skill set wise, there's
some similarities in him that are toduce Von. There's some
similarities in Miles Sanders, who is you know, had some
standout days and is that steady veteran.
Speaker 9 (30:11):
So forduce Vaughn.
Speaker 10 (30:13):
I think it is pivotal that he finds his way
back on the field as soon as he can, although
we really aren't going to be able to see this
competition at running back until preseason for real.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Yeah, I kind of want to bounce back to that
tight end conversation obviously, but Rerevin span Ford is a
guy that when he first came in as that undrafted
free agent, his size was just noticeable compared to the
other guys around him.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
And the impression that he's made since he has been
here in such a short amount of time has been
so positive. He's very well respected by his teammates. I
know Lounda Well's the tight ends coach really loves what
Brevin can do. To your point, I usha about using
him in the red zone short yardage situation. I think
Brevin would be perfect for that, But more so, you
(31:03):
saw awesome Richards getting that work at tight end. To
me had me questioning a little bit. And kyleie Oemens
mentioned this on the broadcast, like kind of looks like
a Brevin span fourth thing that Brevin could be doing,
or Luke scoon Maker could be doing, but it is
frustrating for this tight end room. And Nicole, I've just
been needing to ask you because we haven't heard anything
(31:25):
about John Stevens Junior, and now that he has this
chance to kind of get more of those reps be
seen a little bit more, what kind of camp is
he having so far?
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Because he has been notorious for having.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Phenomenal camps standing out quickly, how is he doing during
this training camp especially, you know.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
We won't see until this week.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Obviously he's going to get more of that attention. But
what have you seen so far?
Speaker 7 (31:49):
Yeah, I put on my little jest and asked about
John Stevens's fire. Shottie had just said that, you know,
of course, he acknowledged the fact that, you know, he
hadn't played an NFL season just yet in terms of
you know, regular season games, and he was just saying
(32:11):
how he's attacked his rehab so well, and he, like
Sam Williams, had missed the day and his rehab this
off season, so the work is there. He had a
couple of key drop flash yesterday sorry yesterday's practice which
in one of them was wide open, and I think
both of them were actually he was wide open, and
(32:32):
so that I feel like there's just that confidence level
that you see him have from good days have some
kind of rough moments, but I mean that's just to
expect it to be expected when you've been injured seasons
in a row, with the type of injuries that you
had that he had. But I mean you can see
the moments of confidence flash, but you can see, you know,
(32:55):
the moments where he's kind of like dang, like down
on himself. He came off the field after finally you know,
catching a pass yesterday and Jake Berguson actually kind of
like patted him on the back, So that was good
to see. But he's getting more opportunities because Reven Stanford
is out for a little bit, so expect to see
a lot more John and first and second team rep
(33:16):
But I mean that'll the confidence will continue to build
over time, for sure.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
And another guy on this list that I wanted to
make sure we mentioned was one Yer Thomas because this
was the guy that all of us had agreed that
would fit very well in an eber flu system and
you know, didn't necessarily know where he fit in the
Zimmer system, but now you're in the Eberflus era, ladies,
what kind of opportunity does one ye Thomas have in
(33:42):
this defense? And especially now that we've kind of seen
what this defense is about, punching out you know, balls,
getting fumbles, being ballhawks, how does one Yer Thomas fit
into this? And you know he has to show it
this trend camp, how does he fit in?
Speaker 9 (33:59):
Can I? Well, I will go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 10 (34:02):
The coach, because you've been out well, I've seen post
stop y'all. No, obviously, it sounds like coach eva Fluss
is actually talking right now, so you know, maybe we'll
get some answers after about some of his comments.
Speaker 9 (34:20):
But in regard to like the usage of the.
Speaker 10 (34:22):
Safeties, we've been seeing Donovan Wilson do some stuff past
the line of scrimmage and that's something he's gonna get
back to doing obviously to help out this run defense.
But we have seen and we saw this in mini
camp in OTAs where I thought it was because Donovan
was still working out on the side sometime and stuff.
Maybe they're trying to ramp him up. But you would
see Malik Hooker next to one day Thomas, both of
(34:44):
them being probably the obviously the mower rangeye, and by
rangey I mean guys that can get from one side
of the field to the other real quick in a
hurry safeties and being able to obviously this defense wants
to take the ball away. I really think that Ebraflus
may look at some of these guys as interchangeable and
also too when you start looking at this past us,
(35:06):
this edge room that you've seen Nicole really get after it.
If your defense can really get home before, that means you.
Speaker 9 (35:12):
Can drop more guys into coverage. That means you can
be a little bit more.
Speaker 10 (35:14):
Multiple, and I think that will give guys like Jyya
Thomas an opportunity to be on the field. So seeing
him go down also bumm me out because we got
to see a little wrinkle of him being out there
next to Malie Cooker and how much ground he and Hooker,
who had a good day yesterday playing the run and
coming from depth and and tackling. I thought that that
(35:35):
they're gonna be able to cover a lot of grass together,
and I think that's what you want. And where Donovan
Wilson struggles sometimes in coverage, I think Wye Thomas is
a little bit more efficient. So depending on the matchup,
could you throw him out there? I think it's gonna
be a big year for him. Hopefully he can get
healthy and get back out there because I want to
see Ebraflus mix it up a bit.
Speaker 9 (35:53):
What you got, ladies, what you got?
Speaker 5 (35:54):
I'm gonna answer the question with a question for you.
Speaker 7 (35:59):
Okay, let me go, Okay, okay, okay, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (36:02):
Okay, ah you want here, I'll ask Nicoll? Nicole, what's
to what's two traits? Just two traits that you would
describe Jordan Lewis as.
Speaker 7 (36:11):
To trades, to just to two dog mentality? Uh, ground
he can do just to just to near everything. Yeah,
like you can't find that out here. I'm sorry, but
like no one on this team has that.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Now?
Speaker 7 (36:30):
Could you find two people that make up what Jordan
Lewis is? Absolutely why you do got the number two ones?
And what makes one you're so special is because he
can be interchangeable. Like you know, I should just mention
he can play the nickel, but he can also kind
of be in some safety taxes as well. He can cover,
(36:50):
he can play the run, but he he elus wants
these guys to be able to do it all and
know just being okay playing up close to the line
of scrimmager, playing in the box, and you're gonna help
in the run game. No, you need to be able
to cover. We saw, you know, even Donald have a
good play in the passing game as well. So all
these guys got to be able to do everything. And
I think Wanye does have a great opportunity, but he
(37:13):
has to get back healthy for sure.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Absolutely. All right, ladies, we're going to go to our
last break.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
When we come back, we would just be reminisced to
not talk about Dak Prescott on his birthday.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
Out, Ladies.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
A guy may or may not know turns thirty two
years old today, I should say thirty two years young.
Thirty two years young today. He goes by the name
of rain Dakota Prescott. I don't know if you guys
know him or not, but today's birthday. So I just
want to say happy birthday to dak And in order
to do that, I'm gonna ask you guys two questions.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
Okay, start with the first one.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Okay, first one is what expectations do you have for
dak Prescott going into your ten post injury everything ahead?
What is your highest expectation that he has for you
that you're looking for this season?
Speaker 7 (40:56):
What you got, which I was keeping the simple win
football games?
Speaker 3 (41:03):
But sorry, how can he contribute in your opinion.
Speaker 7 (41:13):
I'm maintaining what he's already been doing. Like, I mean,
we've seen him throw the for big yards. You know,
we've seen the passing touchdown leader. What was that twenty
twenty three, We've seen like, just use what you've got.
You've got the pieces, they've given you, the pieces. Just
just be Dack from twenty twenty three. I mean, it's
that simple. Like and not the baby games like Chicago.
(41:38):
I want to see that when Kansas City comes to town,
or you know, you play the Detroit Lions. Like to
keep that same energy and stay healthy and yeah, I
mean everything else will come, ladies.
Speaker 8 (41:51):
I think my expectations is similar to what he gave
his own.
Speaker 9 (41:55):
I'm not.
Speaker 8 (41:56):
I mean, of course, I need everybody in the locker
room to say they want the Super Bowl, right, yes,
but Dak Prescott is two and five in the postseason.
I need Dak Prescott to be regular season Dak Prescott
in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
That's just facts.
Speaker 8 (42:10):
He's never going to get that respect, I think, and
be in those conversations of a Josh Allen, of a
Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson. He's just never gonna be in
those conversations. I don't care about his mobility. I don't
care if he carries his team on his back when
the game is over in the postseason, like Nicole says,
just when games that's just something he hasn't been able
(42:33):
to do in his career.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
And you just said he's got the pieces. There's really
no excuses.
Speaker 8 (42:39):
You have the pieces, and you have a young minded
coach who brought a young minded team with a little
bit of veteran sauce. Right, we are seeing this old
defense come back Ballhawks. They're saying we're gonna get this
many takeaways. Great, there's really if they're doing everything they said,
if they're gonna be a run first team, they brought
you the pieces they can healthy Dak Prescott needs to
(43:02):
be a quarterback that can win, find a way to
win in the posts.
Speaker 10 (43:07):
Yeah, put it all together like like you guys, like
you guys are talking about. I mean, one thing that
stands out is how much he's running. And I think
he's conditioned himself. I think he's conditioning himself to where
where he's gonna be.
Speaker 9 (43:20):
Him running is second nature to.
Speaker 10 (43:21):
Him again, and I think that's a part of putting
it together for this offense. Like this might be you know,
some of the better clipboard warriors he's been with and
all that stuff.
Speaker 9 (43:31):
You know, obviously the offensive line is trying to come together.
Speaker 10 (43:32):
So for me, I agree with you ladies like it's
time to put up. I expect for him to play
his best football. There shouldn't be anything that he's seeing
defensively that he hasn't already seen more times over he
if he's the big bad veteran, I expect for him
to take advantage in some of these games where he is,
you know, the better quarterback.
Speaker 9 (43:52):
So like you lady said, like just go.
Speaker 10 (43:54):
Win games, finish out these tough games, these close games
and things like that, and hopefully you can carry.
Speaker 9 (44:00):
That into the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (44:01):
So I know Dak is the seven oldest starting quarterback.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Isn't that crazy? Seventh oldest oldest?
Speaker 7 (44:10):
That's crazy?
Speaker 4 (44:11):
Last question, what is your favorite memory with Dak? It
can be on the field, it can be conversations you've
had with him. Favorite memory with Dak real quick, before we.
Speaker 7 (44:21):
Go, You got one.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
Mine's easy because are you going first?
Speaker 4 (44:31):
First?
Speaker 9 (44:32):
Go ahead?
Speaker 5 (44:33):
Because it's funny and I was like, so I.
Speaker 8 (44:37):
Was behind Dak when we were going on the bus
back home. I forgot what away game it was, but
it's he was injured obviously, so he's kind of got
his uh, his limp or whatever, and he has this
probably Christian Diors at least a thirty five hundred dollars backpack, right,
so he's got his backpack on.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
And it's so.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
Funny because normally.
Speaker 8 (44:58):
They don't really ask Dak Prescott for his ID to
get through TSA to get on us.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
And this lady was like, can I see her? I
d and He's just like okay. It like he wasn't
rude at all.
Speaker 8 (45:09):
He was he but because he had his wallet was
in his backpack. He I was behind him and he
looked at me and he said, can you get my wallet?
And I could see it rabbit.
Speaker 9 (45:19):
And I said, he trusts me to go.
Speaker 14 (45:23):
Like this, Dak Prescott.
Speaker 8 (45:24):
I was like okay, And then he looked at me
like can you even back hand? Was like I got
and that was like I was like, okay, Dak Prescott
is just like us besides the thirty five trust there
all right, So that it always sticks out to me
because he really had to like kind of prove who
he was and I'm just like he just no, he
didn't play, but it's him the game.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
But that's fine.
Speaker 10 (45:44):
I think my best memory with Dak Prescott was I
would say our first maybe that was our first time
in the locker room. I want to say, Jess, I,
why did I like a little puppy, don't know nothing
about nothing? Caught him on the walk off because this
is when he had started. He started this cadence quite
(46:05):
some time ago. It didn't become a thing really till
like last year. But this is not something he's been
doing it in a while. And I went up to
him because that's my quarterback. I know Romo and other people.
People say that's my quarterback. That's the one I grew
up watching. So I was like, oh, that's different immediately
the first time I heard it, and so I went
up to him and I was like, hey, ok, I
(46:25):
was scary y'all, Like hey, so you change your cadence
and he was like he was like, yeah, you noticed that,
and I was like yeah I did, and he was like, well,
good bleep, and then he gave me a little fist
bump and I was like it made me feel good
as someone that was new to the business, but also
too that you know, just noticing the little details in
the game mattered to me as an analyst, So it
(46:48):
was very reassuring and it made me after that he
would talk to me in the locker room, so because
he understands that I'm paying attention to the details of him.
So that was awesome and it was very rewarding, you know,
just knowing that he had some level of respect from
my vision.
Speaker 9 (47:02):
So there it is.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
So that was it for me.
Speaker 9 (47:04):
What about you?
Speaker 7 (47:04):
And I'm good? Why I guess I'll go with the
one from last year. Just funny because like when I
first got the job, my mom's always told me this,
but like my dad playing in the NFL, so like
I really don't be caring about, you know, status or whatever.
So my mom was like, you know, Deck's your cousin, right.
(47:27):
I was like, girl quite playing go right, and so
la la la la la. Fast forward, I go to
a family event and they're like, you know, Dex's like
your cousin. I'm like, okay, that's cute. Whatever. So then
I keep going by business a whole years going past.
I go to my first training camp, cool da da
da da, and my cousin called me, take me. She's
(47:48):
my second cousin and girl my grandpa. Hey a lot
of kids. Okay, we're not gonna talk about it. And yeah,
so that's that Louisiana stuff, okay, And so basically, monstory short,
it all came out that our grandparents are siblings and uh, yeah,
he's my cousin. Great, that's the story. We found out
(48:13):
because his grandma called him and was like, Hey, your
cousin's there, and he was like, who was my cousin?
And so we finally liked it and like Coleena got
the picture and everything was it was kind of funny.
Speaker 14 (48:23):
Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
I'm gonna do mine quickly.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
So I was dying to two years ago get like
a fine line tattoo, and Dak actually had booked with
the same artist I did the same week, and so
the tattoo he got that week was for his mom.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
On her birthday.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
Him and his brother went to this tattoo artist to
get a tattoo on his hand for his mom. And
so that week I went in the locker room and
I was like, hey, you just went to this artist,
Like what do I need to know? I'm nervous, like
this is my first like arm tattoo. Meanwhile, he's like
covered in tattoos. He's like, how big is it? Like
the way I'm being dramatic, He's like, well, how big
of a tattoo is it? And I'm like, I was
(49:06):
like this big.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
He's like confused, right, He's like, oh no, like you're
gonna be okay, it doesn't hurt. You're good. And then
he told me more about the artist that I.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
Was gonna go see and what a great studio it
was and anyway, so then I go get the tattoo
and come back the next week.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
I show him and he was like the first thing
he says like did you do it? Or did you
chicken out? Like did you follow through? Did you do it?
Speaker 4 (49:29):
And I was like no, it's right here, and you know,
so every time I see him now, the conversation is
do you get a new tattoo? And he tells me like,
be careful because once you get one, you're gonna want
to keep getting more. So every time I see him,
I know at Tyrone Smith's presser retirement presser, I was like,
do you get another tattoo yet? Because the news broke
of SJ being pregnant with now Aurora and he was like, yeah,
(49:52):
I have two planned, and so he told me what
those two were gonna be for her, So I kind
of guessed her name before.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
It was announced.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
Anyway, all that to say, Dak Prescott, Happy birthday. We
