Speaker 4 (00:33):
Welcome in to Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented by Invisi Line.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Here in the s WBC studio.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
I'm Nicole Hutchinson alongside Brianna Aldridge Aisham Morrison.
Speaker 5 (00:43):
Ladies, we met a minute.
Speaker 6 (00:45):
You bet we got he already caught on.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Yeah, funny, y'all know what is? What time?
Speaker 7 (00:53):
Is?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
It?
Speaker 5 (00:54):
Almost time for the regular season.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Let's talk about it.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
News of the Cowboys taken on the Eagles in week
one that'll kick off September fourth.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Oh, that's gonna be so much fun.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
I actually did a little cool die before we start
talking about it. Just some fans tweets, some players tweets Chris,
go ahead and throw them up on the monitors real fast.
Someone throw them up on the monitors, right, I know, right,
like a look at them?
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Yeah one second?
Speaker 4 (01:20):
No, maybe not k take second, it's actually kind of funny,
but no. This is the first time the Cowboys will
be meeting in Week one against the Philadelphia Eagles since
two thousand, the fourth time in rivalry history. And just
a fun note, I think Adam Schefter actually tweeted this yesterday.
Since two thousand and four, twenty defending Super Bowl champions
(01:42):
have played in the first game to open the season.
Those teams have gone fifteen to five in those games,
including the chiefs twenty seven to twenty win over the
Ravens and last season's opening.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
Let's just get y'all thoughts on this Week one matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I think it's gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Guys, think it's gonna yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Oh wait, we'll fast, We'll have Chris got us go
ahead and.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Throw out the tweets. Oh yeah, uh that was.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Nick's actually just saying locked in.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Love to see that's one of the biggest Cowboys fans out.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
Take a look at the next one.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Other Cowboys fan Cowboys and Eagles Twitter Week one.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
That's great, y'all.
Speaker 8 (02:15):
Twitter was in shamble yesterday and I love Twitter never
fails never.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
The fans were going at it.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Love to see it.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Let's go to the next one. I think this one's
a funny one too. Nope, not that one.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
It's all right, we just locked in.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
They're definitely locked in.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Michael Parsons on his Instagram stare story saying, yeah, yeah,
let's ball getting straight to the point.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
How about that one?
Speaker 5 (02:36):
All right? And this one the.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
NFL making sure the Cowboys are the team. Witnessing the
Eagles raising their new Super Bowl banner is the funniest
dang thing that has ever happened in this rivalry.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
That was actually an Eagles fan.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
Yeah, I love to see it. The second so petty,
everybody's so petty ruined it. So I think that's the intent.
Speaker 6 (02:59):
I think that's why these guys are competitors, right, And
I think the Cowboys obviously too, with this new training staff, well,
this new trend staff, this new coaching staff, this new feel,
all this stuff going on, they might want to try
to prove a point to start that game, to start
the year, and so it's gonna be a lot of feels.
Speaker 5 (03:16):
Yeah. I just, I just I was laughing, and I.
Speaker 8 (03:21):
Was not only are the Eagles fans petty, I feel
like the NFL is petty because, like you said, like
we just read the banner thing, that's got a hit, right.
We keep talking about how this team is coming in
with a chip on their shoulder. I remember when Ryan
Schottenheimer was introduced and the question had came up about
does it does it hit different to see the Eagles
(03:42):
figure it out and that banner come down. I remember
that question like being asked, and you know they try
to it hurts, it has to hurt.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
So I think this is this is.
Speaker 8 (03:50):
The first game of the season, it's going to I
don't want to get into it. It's still September football.
I have a certain belief about September football. I agree,
but I don't necessarily agree where this is going to
see how the season is going to be. I don't
think so, not at all, because the team we saw
in September was a totally different team than we got
to November December when it starts to count.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
So I'm not going to deep dive and overread to it.
Speaker 8 (04:15):
But I do think I'm not gonna say set the
tone for the season, but I think it's gonna set
the tone for the locker room, and it's going to
show you who are the leaders from the jump and
that's what I'm most excited to see.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
And it's in Philly that I mean. But that's the
thing about Banner Night sometimes.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
I mean, we've seen guys stay on the field after
losing a big game and that light a fire to them.
I just you know, some of these young guys that
don't know no better yet and stuff like that, seeing
what like a banner ceremony feels like that's true. It's
like you said it, it might set the tone for
the locker room. It might make them be more hungry
(04:53):
and being in that moment, so yeah, else.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Will also make them be more hungry is that they're
six and a half point underdogs. Necessarily, it doesn't mean
anything right now, just because obviously the season hasn't started.
But I know we were talking about it last week
and just how important it is to get off to
that fast start, establish your personnel, establish your identity earlier,
specifically in training camp. How much more does this emphasize
(05:17):
establishing everything earlier this offseason, something that we haven't necessarily
seen last year and the year before.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
So I'll start with you, how you shah?
Speaker 6 (05:26):
Yeah, absolutely, I mean this is one thing that Mike
McCarthy talked about at his time here is that how
important that first quarter of the season or their first
four games is, because the reality is this, guys aren't
in football shape. Teams are still trying to figure things out,
especially with how teams are.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
Handling the preseason now. Now there are some.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Who do let their guys play, and I'm saying that
we know we ain't gonna go down that revenol, but
having everything in place for the Cowboys I think will
be a plus.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
We've seen this last couple.
Speaker 6 (05:56):
Of years them kind of be behind the eight ball,
and it's affected you being able to get some key
wins at the beginning of the season when maybe teams
other teams you're playing against maybe haven't got their footing,
maybe don't have their roster set up.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Be ahead of the curve. Be ahead of the curve.
Speaker 6 (06:10):
If you can, so you can establish those games so
when you get to that hard part of your season,
you can maybe risk dropping a game because you've already
done what you need to do at the beginning of
the season.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
So it's very important.
Speaker 6 (06:22):
And again especially with this division, I think Washington's gonna
get better. I think obviously Philly drafted well and they
already have their established pieces. You're gonna have to come
to play. So this is, like you said, breathe, this
is your own setting my bag, bir Look see where
I'm sitting. But yeah, it's important, and yeah, I think
(06:45):
it's it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting. I can't
wait to get more information training camp, all that stuff
so we can see what we're kind of getting into
what you got.
Speaker 8 (06:52):
Yeah, it's definitely important, especially how they they ended their season.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Kay they ended their season quite early than their used to. Right.
Speaker 8 (07:02):
I think Philly is going to be again setting the
tone of the locker room, not necessarily season. And I
say that because again you brought up McCarthy and I
know eventually we're gonna stop talk about McCarthy, But now
I do the same thing because I feel like I
did learn a lot even though he was on from
him him being here only one season. And one of
the things that the Ox snared that he talked about
(07:25):
was Game one. That is the game that you have
the most time to prepare for, because when that schedule hits, right,
you have all from now until whenever, like that's who
you're preparing for. That's the advantage and that kind of
was like, okay, so knowing that it's the Philadelphia Eagles
makes it that much more.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Got to be sitting on their heads right a little bit.
But you said it too. Starting they started from behind.
Speaker 8 (07:51):
For multiple reasons, talking about contracts, personnel, wanting the competition
for certain rookies that we knew were going to be
star but they weren't with the ones. It was just
it was just kind of like a hot mess. And
you want, like you said too, what he had mentioned
multiple times, you want to get as many wins and
stack them early when other teams are still figuring you out,
(08:13):
because you have to play the same team twice, and
that is something that is hard to do, is beat
the same team twice. So how about we stack those
wins the first time we see them when we're talking
about in the actual division and.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
Figure it out early. I would love to see this
team figured out early.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
It's also something different this year, even though the doubt
that the Cowboys were zero and two against Philly in
twenty twenty four.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Guess who they get back?
Speaker 6 (08:41):
Oh the Cowboys, Yeah, Dak, they get their they get
their quarterback back.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yet it's be big new additions obviously with George Piggins,
We'll talk about him in the next segment. But how
do you what challenges do you feel like the Cowboys
could face in adapting to Schodenheimer's coaching style and also
trying to strategize for a team like the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 8 (09:04):
So far, but I'll start with you, I think, and
I think I kind of touched on this when we
talked about it in the very beginning.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
I think.
Speaker 8 (09:13):
What I'm looking at that could be a potential weakness
is all these unknowns could actually also be their biggest strength.
They didn't clean. It's so weird because they promoted within
right and at first I was like, I'm not gonna lie.
I was like, no disrespect to shnheim Er at all,
but I was just like, how is this going to help?
Speaker 5 (09:34):
And then I started to see the pieces started.
Speaker 8 (09:36):
To come and even recently going to the draft, we
were joking about I think I told I used to
tease it. I said, I bet you they go to alignment,
but I'll see you next week, and I'm mad. But
then once I started to see the plan, and like
you said, we'll talk about pickings and all, you know,
picking up those two running backs. I started to kind
(09:56):
of I'm seeing the plan and I'm I'm excited, and
I'm the most excited I've been about this team since
I've gotten here, which was last July, so it hasn't.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
Been that long. But when I got in July, I
was just it was just.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Like a little bit of chaos, and the CD thing
was the headliner and all these different storylines, and I think,
right now, how I'm looking at this team and I
like one of the tweetsweets that I shared in my
sports cast was CD's tweet about Pickens, and I liked
it because it feels like there is already this maturity
(10:31):
happening in this locker room before the season even starts,
and I think a lot of that comes from Brian Schottenheimer.
That is the strength of this team, which in my wow,
I don't even know what the word, my mistake, I
guess is actually their biggest strength is the leadership.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
And I like it.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Yeah right now? Is are you meaning like how connected
he seems who.
Speaker 8 (10:54):
He's bringing in, Oh yeah, yeah, he's bringing in and
what he's emphasizing and he's sticking to his guns.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
Yeah, And even when they started bringing in the hires
for the coaching staff. I was like, okay, I see you,
hey see, but yeah, I as far as like the
competitive advantage and things like that, so what you're talking about, Nicole,
So Philadelphia, they did lose Kellen Moore, who did you know,
(11:20):
facilitate as an OC getting them back to the Super Bowl.
Now they did an in house higher as well, bringing
in Kevin Patullo. He was their passing game coordinator in
twenty twenty one, And so they're gonna have some differences
on that end as well, and how they maybe how
they run their office. Now we know they're gonna run
the ball, you know they're gonna utilize their receivers. But again,
(11:42):
on both sides, there's some ambiguity on like what this
is gonna look like moving forward. I think on a
base level, you got two old dogs on the defensive
side that.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Give you a lot of information.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
When you talk about a Vic Fangio and how he
likes to play defense and an eber Flus.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
I want to see.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
How those guys counteract and things. But as far as
like advantages, I think the Cowboys offensive line should be
better and you're gonna need that against these folks. You.
You're gonna need that against these folks. You're gonna need
explosive players. They've taken care of that with the pickings thing.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
We we'll see if that comes to.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
Fruitioning Jade on Blue him being able to run the
ball and have explosive plays. That's how you break up
what Philly does defensively, which I don't think will change
a lot. So that's mightbe the upside nicole is that
you know what they are defensively, you know what they
kind of are offensively.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
Besides some of the pieces say or whatever.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
It is, it is sick, but there is some familiarity
despite there being differences on both sides. So I think
that kind of works in your favorite too. And you
can knock off a division win early if you can't.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
If you can't, if you can't and you're healthy too,
knock on game one. Oh yeah, let me all the
wood we got in this thing.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
I would like to get it out the way in
a way for sure, because seeing them twice a year,
seeing Washington twice a year, it's.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
About to be let's get it ready to let's hold that.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Everybody saying that about this Cowboys team, they don't want
to see us twice a year.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
They don't want to see us. Okay, you know what
I'm saying. Let's hold that, you know, think about week
one then talking stuff talking like you know what you're either.
Speaker 8 (13:23):
Yeah, they did everything that they said they can look
like it's not gonna be it's gonna be it. I
think it's gonna be a different this offense. Like I'm
very excited. Oh there's a lot to be excited about
off Yeah. Like I said, the way they've been building it,
it's like slowly.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
I was like, Hey, that makes sense. That's what was
that was me. I was like, oh, hey, that hats.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
You'll know what makes sense.
Speaker 4 (13:48):

Speaker 3 (16:43):
George Pickens, we got.
Speaker 7 (16:46):
Come on, Chris.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
George Pickens is a Dallas Cowboy, the Cowboys making the trade.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
For a wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
I don't even say receiver two because he does not
believe he is a wide receiver too. He believes that
there should be two good receivers as there should be.
That's what makes an amazing offense a wide receiver duo.
But just talking about this trade, let's get y'all's first reactions,
since we didn't get a chance to obviously talking about
it last week because it happened after the fact.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
Oh it did, Yeah, but you got what was you
feeling like?
Speaker 8 (17:18):
I said, there are there for real, and I'm excited.
There's so much to like about it. And first, before
I say anything. All the things I saw on social
media and all the people who are coming to me
and telling me about this man's.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Character, I don't care. I don't want to hear it.
I really don't.
Speaker 8 (17:42):
And I say that because I cover a team that
is more nationally known than any other NFL team or
coverage I should say gets coverage, and the storylines that
come here are different than the ones I see in
the national media.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
I remember there was a point last.
Speaker 8 (17:59):
Year there was talking about uh CD and being a
certain type of player, a selfish player. That is untrue,
and that is something you learn when you're in the
locker room, when you're traveling with the team and you're
you're not just on the outside. So I'm not saying
that Pickens is great personality that with no improvements needed.
(18:20):
I'm not saying Mike Tomlin's comments about him.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
Naming mature is untrue. But I don't feel.
Speaker 8 (18:27):
Like adding him is going to be a detriment to
the locker room. I like that type of player for
this team. When you're talking about passion, someone who's not
afraid to say.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
I want the ball, that's what you want.
Speaker 8 (18:44):
Nicole mentioned it he doesn't see himself as a number
two wide receiver, but it also sounds like he understands
that he has to come in here and prove himself.
He knows this is CD Lamb's team, and I think,
if anything, the competitive competitiveness of both.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
Those guys can elevate it.
Speaker 8 (19:04):
I do remember CD fighting for his life with that
shoulder at the end of the season. I'm sure he
would like some help. I was watching some Pickens highlights
from last year, and I got more excited because it
didn't matter if it was Wilson or Justin fields. He
was making plays and those one on ones y'all about
(19:25):
ninety something percent. I would say, if it's a one
on one, Pickins is going to grab that ball and
the catches. He's able to make our fun and exciting.
His awareness of where he's out on the sideline, his
ability like at first I'll see him run a rout,
he looks like there's nothing and he just jicks and
he's open. So I'm excited to see that because I
(19:47):
feel like this team's so desperately needed.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
I said it.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
I keep I've being a little disrepectful from last season.
I keep saying it was boring. I don't think it's
gonna be boring. And I think this is a team
that is showing they are going to run the ball.
So if you want to put two guys on Cdland,
please do because picking is gonna make you pay on
the other sides.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
I'm very excited. Yeah, I was ecstatic. I mean because
y'all already know I was.
Speaker 6 (20:10):
It was killing me during the draft and even through
the draft process looking at the wide receivers.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Is obviously a very.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Deep wide receiver class and to see them not, you know,
really take one after the first round because of what
happened with Ted, I just was like, all right, well,
what you're gonna do. And for them to have this
in the works and to pull this off, it was
something that was exciting to me, but also lets me
know that they understand it was football smart. It was
(20:36):
a football smart decision. Your team has struggled. We saw
an uptick in shell coverage last year. Too high, shell,
super heavy, and if you don't have a guy that
can take the top off, or if you can't threaten
for people to have to load the box, it's gonna
be a long day for you. And we had a
lot of long days last year, and so for them
to go in and invest in what it was. Football
(20:57):
conscious is the word I would want to talk about.
It's like, Okay, you see the trends. How many times
we talk about that here?
Speaker 5 (21:04):
Do you see the trends of the NFL?
Speaker 6 (21:05):
See the motions, we see the running backs as wide receivers,
We see the two to a wide receiver tandems and
those things they are.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Getting with the program. And I'm for that.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
And as far as Pickens character, I did sweak to
a scout for the Steelers all in all, just said like,
this is a good kid.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
He just needs another chot, he just needs another yes,
And that happens. We see that in our work. Let's
just keep it a thousand.
Speaker 6 (21:28):
I think sometimes we have these conversations we don't look
at this as employment and that these guys are doing
their job, and that it's okay sometimes to need to
change the scenery, to need to move somewhere to do
something different. So everything we've heard so far has been
positive about the kid. I thought he as his interviews
so far and some of the things we've heard about
him from the conference call, and also too, you get
(21:50):
a guy that can help you in the red zone
have mercy. Cowboys have been one of the worst teams
in the red zone for the last couple of years.
They get a guy that can come in here and
really retin on the other side, and hopefully with with
this Clayton Adam system, a lot of it is your
wide receiver's gonna have to block. They're not gonna be
able to just sit there and look pretty as much
(22:11):
as pretty as they may think they are. They have
to get out there and block on the outside. And
I think he has decides to do that, So a
lot of positives. It was funny seeing all the discourse
on Twitter the night before because there were whispers that
this was happening and it wasn't confirmed yet, and to
see it come to Fruition early and they was shout
out to the Cowboys that was out working in the morning.
(22:31):
We woke I said, good mornings, this is a Cowboy right,
let's know. We woke up to it, and and and
and that's and that's before I finished, Nicole.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
That's another thing.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
They moved in silence with this trade because I could
be wrong, but it seemed like a lot of people
even in.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
This Marena didn't know that this was going.
Speaker 6 (22:50):
On hearing it, and that is not something that the
we always know a little song, We always hear a
little song song, you know what I'm saying, And so
for us to not hear anything, if that is how
this coaching staff is married to this front office, and
if they're gonna do things more under the radar and
it doesn't have to be announced and it doesn't have
(23:10):
to be this big publicity thing. I like that energy
and I think your locker room will thank you for it.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
To touch on that, there were some talks about in
the off season of just the possible receivers that they
could get it.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
There were two in particular.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Of course the names weren't mentioned, but there were some conversations.
Per Nick Harris on Twitter, I know he mentioned it.
Jamachoda had also said something on Twitter as well. And
it's good to see that they're actually considering this coaching.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
Staff and their plan.
Speaker 8 (23:44):
Right.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
I don't think I really again, and I could be wrong.
I don't think I saw that with McCarthy specifically in
last year's team. I don't feel like they had he
had much of a say and the personnel that he
really wanted. So I like that Brian Schottenheimer has the
respect with this front office in order to get the
kind of players that he wants. But I love hearing
(24:06):
in his press in his conference call excuse me, George
Pickens when't asked about anything with whether it was about
Ceedee Lamb, whether it was about you know, the titles
of wide receivers and whether or not he thinks that
that's like a thing.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Or more so an outside perspective.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
He always brought it back to I'm just glad to
be a Dallas cowboy and be a part of a
culture that's trying to be a winning culture here in Dallas.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
So that was something that was unique.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
But what do you feel like he brings that aside
from Seed Lamb, no one else on this roster brings.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
Honestly, you want to be like, honest.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
His I'm talking about from a receiving standpoint, the temperament.
Like people can say what you want to say about
his attitude and everything, but the dude wants the ball.
He understands what he's he understands what he is capable of.
And honestly, when I seen it and people were talking about, oh,
he's a bad guy and all this about time, about time.
I mean you went up against San Fran all those
(25:05):
years and they would come out there with boomboxes and
and freaking dancing a little loose, like let's mass some
energy here.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
I mean, Philly has their stuff.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
They do too, like let's it's it's okay everybody. Football
is not no good, it's not no good happy sport.
So if people have a little bit of like to them,
I want that. And that is what I think he
brings is that I want the ball.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
I'm gonna run through your face.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
You're not better than me, and that you see that,
and how he plays, the concentration, the sideline awareness, the
strong hands, he brings so much versatility. From that standpoint,
he's not a super affluent route runner. I think that's
something that can go in his game. Shout out to
Junior Adams. That's why you get a good coaching staff.
But he's a guy that brings red zone stuff, he brings,
(25:53):
yack stuff. He brings I just think he's gonna open
up your offense so more.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
But he's more than anything. He's a threat. Yes, he's
a threat.
Speaker 6 (26:02):
So you when you prepare when offenses are when what
defenses are prepared for the Cowboys. Now they gonna have
to change their tune. It's not gonna be easy to
just get in the shell, play underneath and not give
up nothing.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
No, you need it. You gonna need a two corner
that can play.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
And I think that's the biggest thing for me is
that last year we saw nobody was threatened by you.
They wouldn't even loading the box for you. They were
just dropping six and covers. They had no respect for
whoever was next to ceedy lamb. And now you got
somebody that three is the defense and made people have
to pause and think a couple of seconds and figure
out what you're gonna do that day?
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Who was what you're going to jail? I rode my
We're not sisty. I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (26:46):
If I could pull it off, I'm gonna wear. If
it's not given, I can they.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
Gonna think a twelve year old guy on the shisty
I put on the sides. I'll be like the little kids.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
What you got?
Speaker 9 (26:57):
Wait?
Speaker 8 (26:58):
Help me remember who was the who was the person
who did an interview on Twitter? Because it went viral
and they said that all they had to do the
game plan with CD.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
That's not the first time. We've heard that though, So
you saw that last year?
Speaker 6 (27:12):
Yeah, oh baby, players we've heard players say that in
locker rooms after games. Sure, literally for the opposing team, like,
oh yeah, we you know they don't do nothing fancy,
you know we we kind of knew what they was
going insulting.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Yeah, it is somebody do something like somebody fight that
d stand up. Oh my goodness. I think I didn't
mention it at.
Speaker 8 (27:35):
The top, but my one of my favorite things about it,
because I know we said we I said, I don't.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
I'm not concerned about the character thing. I think it's needed.
Speaker 8 (27:44):
However, if this goes which I don't believe at all,
if this goes completely bust, what the Cowboys gave up
made me comfortable what they did because when Ted was gone,
when they had their pick, there's a lot of talk
about Golden and he was available, and I really much
respect the fact that the Cowboys stuck to their guns
(28:04):
because in their mind it wasn't there was something there
above best player available that they liked. More So, the
fact that they gave up a third round pick lets me.
I'm fully confident that the third round pick, whoever they
would have got, or fourth round because they give them too,
but it's not going to be what Pickens is going
(28:27):
to come in here and.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
Do for you immediately.
Speaker 8 (28:29):
And we kept stressing the fact that you need someone
to come here a playmaker that can make an impact
day one, and that is Pickens. And that's what it's
the most exciting about him. That's the difference between anybody
you could have picked up in the draft. I think
it's also exciting when I think about it, because we
keep talking about mister Turpin, how is he going to
get more involved? I think this actually helps that as well.
(28:50):
It's not much pressure, yes.
Speaker 5 (28:52):
On what he can do.
Speaker 8 (28:54):
I'm very excited about when we're talking about all three
of those guys, what they're going to be able to
bring together.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
It's a proven year for Pickens.
Speaker 8 (29:02):
Again, going back to what he's coming and we already
I usually talked about the personality that we've seen, but
imagine that you're a rookie, you're giving it, you're all
somewhere and your team brings in Metcalf, Well, how are
you feeling? You knew it was coming, right, but also
the chip on the shoulder, like I'm so much excited
(29:22):
to see what he's gonna come in here to do.
He's a playmaker, a lot of similar traits of CD
we're talking about size.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
I'm just those one on ones y'all that I was watching.
Speaker 6 (29:32):
I think I was just I was just my gosh,
it's crazy, as you say that, because similar when you
talk about Tet.
Speaker 5 (29:40):
Nicole.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
Okay, yeah, so when you talk about Tet and I
saw Mina talk about this the other day and I
wanted to add on to it is the fact that, yes.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
There are similarities in what they saw in T Mac.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I'm a call and t MAG and also saw and
what Pickens is able to do.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
You got a.
Speaker 6 (29:58):
Big, physical guy body also to like Again, I think
he just gives you more speed.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
I think he gives you a little bit more power
to his game.
Speaker 6 (30:07):
And that's that's so. I think they saw some similarities there.
They were set on like this is the type of
player we want and they went and got it. But
also too with the pickings thing, because he is a
third round they gave up a third rounder. I'm not sure, Chris,
could you give us the information with the Cowboys. If
he performs well, will the Cowboys get a compensary pick
for him? And if it is in the fourth. We
(30:27):
know how this draft works. We know how draft works.
A lot of guys that are projected to go.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
In the third, they're going the fourth. It is a
very rich part of the draft.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
So to your point is that with the compensation, is
that you might be able to get something back. Even so,
even if he just performs well for this one year
and you can fact check me on that, Chris, if
you have time.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
And I think he obviously wants to perform well, it
goes back to what Breed mentioned.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
I mean, this is the last year of his rookie deal.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
He's looking for a big pay day in the NFL,
or his first official big payday.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
So could get some good thing out of Pickens.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
But let's have some fun, ladies. Who stands where on
your depth chart on this wide receiver? Because we got
about twelve we.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
Got let me go, look, I need I need to
look at you.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Got CD, you got Pickens, Jayalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, Jalen Cropper.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
The Jalen is like a sorry, it's apocalypse, got Cot Turpin.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
I'm just naming them this not in order.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
I'm just naming them.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
By the way, who am I missing whos Gracious, who'd
I say?
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Turpin? I said Brook, Ryan Flinoy Mingo, Jonathan Mingo.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
That's ten? Maybe my math bad, that's ten.
Speaker 8 (31:40):
If I had ten apples, that's ten, right, And I
don't have two extra apples?
Speaker 3 (31:45):
You got eight?
Speaker 5 (31:48):
All right? Stands where on your depth chart? Who wants
to go first?
Speaker 11 (31:53):
That? Oh?
Speaker 4 (31:54):
And then you got wow, I'm crazy. I still got
tree Shon Holden.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
Oh yeah, we have to agent.
Speaker 6 (32:01):
And I think that's all I got, all right, Paris Campbell,
I'm gonna be straight up as it stands right now
to me, ms, it's looking like Ceedee Lamb, George Pickens, Cavante, Turbin,
Jonathan Bingo and and and who's the last person that
(32:21):
I was thinking about in tober.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
So they're gonna keep five.
Speaker 6 (32:26):
I mean, I think Trashaun Holden is obviously someone we're
taking a look at.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Man, listen, and there.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
Might be a gentleman on this, on this, you know
some of these other guys like a Flinois or whatever.
But I think they're gonna give Bingo a chance to
show what he's capable of with with with Dak, Turpin
is always gonna be in the mix. And they have
to list him as a wide receiver, so he takes
a roster spot regardless of his usage. And and Tobert,
(32:52):
I do believe has he's been solid enough to work
if he's your three kind of swimming in it low key.
I think he could really thrive us as a three and.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
And be that guy.
Speaker 6 (33:02):
So That's where I'm at right now, unless somebody dethrowns him,
which I think there's with with with uh Tobert. So
I think Tobert has done enough to this staff that they,
especially with Shoddy, I think they probably.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
This pressure off him too, really to not have to
be the two. I guess yeah, because there.
Speaker 8 (33:22):
Was there was some big time moments I was like, ah,
but I was never not confident that Tobert could make
the big play. I just didn't feel like he could
give you multiple in a sequence, if that makes sense.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
But that was King of the North in the Steelers game.
Speaker 8 (33:38):
I remember that clear as that he was the man
in Pittsburgh on that rainy, horrific experience I had out there.
But I would when listening to your list, Asha, the
only thing I would have I would switch is the
order if it was order mingo in Tolbert, I put
Tobert in front of Mingo. You said Mingo first did
(34:00):
I said, I didn't know if it was ordered, but
I would no, it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (34:03):
But I think I think Tobrad is established. But I
think they are going to give Mingo a chance. They
have to.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
They have to because of the compensation. Yeah, they and
then the other guys. I hate to say it.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
Let's get ready to rumble like it is.
Speaker 8 (34:19):
Guys possibly come up. Yeah, I'm pretty much that like
no one. It's just watching these guys last year, it's
hard to be like I think, you know, I personally,
I'm a big fan of Tobert and I would want
I really want this for him this year, just like
when we're talking about running backs, I really want this
(34:39):
reduced this year. Like those are just guys you root
for because they have those flashes, whether it's priest was
a preseason or early games or those clutch his game winner.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Like you see it.
Speaker 8 (34:53):
It's just didn't trickle up, but a lot of things
in trickle up for this offense. So I don't know
if it's going if it's just because of the dud
last year, Like last year was a dud.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Like I'm watching teams come in here and put up
thirty plus forty.
Speaker 8 (35:09):
His making history on the Cowboys on their home turf,
So you know, like that. I don't even know if
it's fair to some of the other wide receivers, but
my list is gonna stick with Ayisha's list until I
get to Oxnard and I see something different. But I
will say, even when I was an Oxnard, I was
fooled because there was a couple of Jalens in the
mix that was getting me hyped up. Who was the
(35:32):
other was another person that I'm trying to think Marino Cropper.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
He was a very tall, lanky guy. I think this
was tall. He didn't he didn't make the You must
have been talking about a guy they brought in. Yeah,
my name is Ardi. Fine, It's fine t Billy Does
that make sense? Billy john Oh, Billy Johnson. He was
already Yeah, he was a he was an Oxnard kind
of favorite out there, and I.
Speaker 6 (35:55):
Just think, yeah, I think they just wanted to move on.
Speaker 8 (35:58):
So you never know, you never know, but yeah, definitely,
I'm I'm all eyes on Miingo because I don't want
to see this team suffocate another fourth round pick. Just
I mean, and if he can play yes, and if
he can play, which I don't.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
Think the guy cannot play.
Speaker 6 (36:15):
I don't think he cannot play. Like I don't believe
that about the kid. I feel the same way that
we kind of are talking about pickings and the fresh start.
The fresh start for him, he's gonna get to play
with Dak and also to you have a wide receiver
coach that develops.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
I don't even I should have looked at it.
Speaker 8 (36:30):
I don't even know how many attempts he had or
how many Yeah it was the violin, Wow it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
But we're gonna take.

No, thank you line for sponsoring Girls Talk, Boys Talk podcast.
All right, last segment, the best segment. Who's an undrafted
free agent that you feel could potentially be a starter?
Speaker 5 (40:02):
You can very much say none of them. I'm just here, barnacles.
I don't know if I got a starter. I don't
know if I got that in me. That's that's kind
of a stretch. You need a minute. I'm looking at
the list and I'm like, starter or could give someone
(40:22):
a run for their money?
Speaker 6 (40:23):
Oh no, I'm trying to find my vegue off.
Speaker 8 (40:28):
I wouldn't I mean to me when I'm looking, I'm
not gonna say starter, but we already talked about him
a little bit. Holding I'm not gonna say starter, but
I think he's going to breathe a competitive edge definitely
to this wide receiver room.
Speaker 5 (40:46):
And we've listed the guys we think who are going
to make the roster spot.
Speaker 8 (40:51):
Like I said, I can definitely see him at practice, squad, squad, practice,
squad guys, injuries happen, he comes up someone they developed.
I that's my favorite word. I'm definitely gonna have all
eyes on him. But yeah, I'm looking at.
Speaker 5 (41:07):
C B and dB. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah,
you have a starter in there.
Speaker 6 (41:13):
I don't know if I have. As it's really hard.
This tight end room is something that I'm really trying
to keep.
Speaker 9 (41:20):
An eye on on.
Speaker 6 (41:21):
This this this doing ots O t as and things
like that. I think with how they want to run
the ball, you are gonna have to be not only
smarter peer, but you're also gonna have to be a
very willing blocker. And I just I just want to
keep an eye on the tight end room. But I
will say I have heard some good things about Zion Childress,
(41:42):
a cornerback out of Kentucky. Cowboys have fallen into several
instances like we don't know if they're gonna add another
corner before the season starts. But as of right now,
your depth chart is still kind of like because even
with a revel, right yeah, yeah, even with Rebel, you
don't know, I don't want to Even with Rebel, you
(42:05):
don't know when he is going to be ready. And
so I have a couple questions. How do you view
Israel Miccuamo? Is he a corner?
Speaker 5 (42:11):
Is he a safety? What is your vision for him?
Speaker 6 (42:14):
Uh, Trey Von, We don't know when he's gonna be back. Like,
I think that they may go heavy at cornerback as
insurance because they might need to because we've run into
the last couple of years not having enough guys in
that department. You got Josh Butler coming back from ACL
I mean, it just kind of goes on and on
and on. So a guy like Zion Childress out of
(42:35):
Kentucky might have a chance. And then I think that
there's a oh, Justin Barron linebacker had a Syracuse What.
Speaker 5 (42:44):
Is this staff? Like we talked about it the other week.
Speaker 6 (42:47):
What is the monk Clark gonna fit in this?
Speaker 5 (42:51):
Where is he gonna fit. I want him to fit.
Speaker 6 (42:54):
I want him to have a fresh start as well
with just like I think linebacker is something we can
keep an eye on you.
Speaker 5 (42:59):
But yeah, those are the two gentlemen.
Speaker 6 (43:01):
I'm kind of like, I know I've heard something about
Elijah Clark as well, have you, ladies the safety out
of Syracuse.
Speaker 4 (43:08):
I haven't heard much about him, but I wanted to
piggyback off of your point, Ayesha's you can't forget also
about kyr Elom, who they picked up in the off
season as well.
Speaker 5 (43:17):
Forget about It's fine, It's fine. I mean, we're not.
It just happens. But yeah, so forgot about it. I'm mad.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
Yeah, it's also how this coaching staff views him as well,
him opposite.
Speaker 5 (43:30):
Side of of course Deron Bland. But now Zion Childrens,
I do believe has uh the best.
Speaker 4 (43:37):
Chance at potentially starting, just because the depth at that
of the lack.
Speaker 6 (43:42):
Of death thereof starting at some point, did.
Speaker 5 (43:45):
You cover him in Kentucky to tell us about him?
Speaker 4 (43:48):
Played all five positions he went to Texas State all
five positions in the secondary, so he has some versatility
to him, which is something that obviously uh the Cowboys love.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
He's he's a physical guy, but the only thing about
him that his downfall is tackling. I think I read
his tackling efficiency as at twenty twenty four was twenty
one point five percent, so something that obviously got to
improve on. But he's also a guy that wants to
come down and tackle. We talk about the willingness to
help in the run game.
Speaker 7 (44:17):
I e.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
Shaw all the time. He's a guy that wants to
do that.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
So you got a.
Speaker 5 (44:21):
Guy that's physical, He's not.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
That his size.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
His size isn't like kind of threatening at all, but
I think that he brings like a demeanor to him
and that could bring a demeanor to him in this
locker room, specifically in that secondary, because that's what he
did for UK's secondary for sure.
Speaker 8 (44:40):
The DV room is definitely the most when we're just
talking in general, is the unknown just because with the
injuries on what's happening and what they picked up. But
my second a lot of unknowns is the running back room.
I just feel like there's a lot of unproven.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
Talent brewing in there. Definitely stuff to be excited about.
Speaker 8 (45:00):
Definitely speed, even going back to the wide receivers and
what you see that the Cowboys that baby, they added speed.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
This is a fast group.
Speaker 5 (45:09):
I'm very much excited.
Speaker 8 (45:10):
But Miles Sanders, Davonte Williams's fon Jaden Blue Hunter Lipkey
still in my little group here, Phil Maha.
Speaker 5 (45:19):
Yeah, yeah, that was that was your mic drop m
got it all those names. Yeah, no, that's this the
running back room guys better they nothing but opportunity. Absolutely
favorite word of twenty twenty four seasons.
Speaker 6 (45:34):
And I think that like again, when you have coaches
that come in here, I'm sure the guys when they're
talking in the meetings and stuff, they're probably excited to
get into this very fluid run game, very expanded run game.
So it's that also incentivizes them to want to get
on the field. And you know, so I'm I'm I
(45:56):
don't know. I was looking at uh, I was looking
at Zion and children's just information. I'm trying to because
you described to me, like you said, he played everywhere.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
M hmmm, what about play safety? He played boundary corner
as well. He also played.
Speaker 6 (46:09):
Nickel, okay, because I think the size gave nickel to.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
Me, that's what teams were looking at him as during
the draft process.
Speaker 6 (46:17):
Yeah, because he was moving around a whole bunch and
I was just like, baby, what are you?
Speaker 5 (46:20):
Yeah. He also played quarterback in high school, by the way. Yeah,
he's played so many different positions.
Speaker 6 (46:25):
But again with the trend of two time former team
captain Cowboys, they're.
Speaker 5 (46:31):
Trying to it's a trend.
Speaker 8 (46:33):
They it's a healthy trend. Flipped that thing, a healthy trend.
What you got, who you think you got?
Speaker 6 (46:37):
Anybody that you're looking for already says Now that's why
I just backed off of you.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
Fine, we're here, all right, all right, you're hopefully the
Cowboys steal in the week one.
Speaker 5 (46:50):
Well, talk about it all off season.
Speaker 8 (46:54):
Best transition she did, she killed it today, killed it
all right.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
That's the rap yard Girls star Boys stop for the
viv is a line for Nicle Agason. Wow, for Brianna Aldridge,
boy Isha Morrison, for myself, niccle Adgason.
Speaker 5 (47:06):
We'll see all back here next week. You point us up.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
