Speaker 1 (00:04):
The following is a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
This is Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented by invisi Line,
trusted by over five hundred NFL players for their winning smiles,
and broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star.
Now your host, Nicole Hutchison.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Huh, April Folds, Welcome two Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented
by Invisiline. We're live here at the SWBC podcast studio,
joined here by Brie and Aisha. Sorry for the late start, y'all.
We had some technical difficulties to get.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
To this point. But we're here. We're a little we're
a little winded. Walk in a fresh air. We're good. Yeah,
all is well? All as well?
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Now.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
We tried to do a little prank on Asha.
Speaker 6 (01:02):
Worked out.
Speaker 7 (01:03):
I was like, what I say?
Speaker 8 (01:03):
What I say?
Speaker 9 (01:04):
What I say?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
No one told you were a hosting today.
Speaker 7 (01:07):
They ain't in my ministry.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
All right, well, free, thank you for being here today.
We missed you last week. Our girl's been covering uh some.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Pretty important stuff you may or may not have heard about.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You got back from Birmingham, Alabama. Uh literally this morning.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
So how was that?
Speaker 6 (01:24):
It was great? It was fantastic.
Speaker 10 (01:26):
I caught it early flight, changed in an early flight
because I didn't want to miss two weeks because I've
been seeing Cowboys station.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
Going crazy on there.
Speaker 10 (01:32):
But March Madness, I was covering the women's bracket in Birmingham.
Speaker 6 (01:35):
Region three.
Speaker 10 (01:37):
South Carolina of course, is headed to the Final four
once again. It was so cool to see them in
their element. But obviously I was there to cover Texas
first TCU.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
It was so big for the state.
Speaker 10 (01:47):
You guys see all these women athletes, most of those
starters on both sides are going to be declaring for
the draft, and.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
It's just amazing. And it just women empowerment.
Speaker 10 (01:56):
I mean, it speaks to what we're doing here right
were for women to every week talking football.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
I love it. I loved where I was at.
Speaker 10 (02:03):
Congratulations to the Longhorns as the first time going to
the Final four since two thousand and three.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
Big Schaeffer did that. It was emotional, he was crying.
It was great. You love the tears, you love the passion.
Speaker 10 (02:13):
But like I said, I'm glad to be here with
you and covering the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Well, girl, we love having you back.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
We missed you. Next week, we did our own version
of March Madness. Girls Talkboys Talk style last week not.
Speaker 9 (02:24):
A little bit of that real fun, brack, real fun.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
But this week, as you guys know, it is April
Fool's Day, so you have to be a little wary
of the information that you're getting today.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
But what was not a joke was Jerry.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Jones talking to the media at the owner's meeting today
and he had a.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Lot to say, ladies.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
As we know, our group chat was blown up today
of new updates pretty frequently this morning, so let's get
right to it. One of the main, if not the
main topic that was brought up, was obviously the status
of Michael Parsons contract and the new deal.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
How that's going play, sat.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Let's listen to a SoundBite of what Jerry said, then
we'll get into it a little bit more.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Well, I know that I've spent five six hours with
him myself and had a lot of discussions. Most of
the issues we are in agreement on and I've discussed
it all and so, but we obviously don't have an
(03:28):
agreement relative to a new contract. Michael was under contract
and so we'll see how that goes It's not uncommon
for me to visit directly with players, and in this
particular case, that's the way I'm doing it.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Well, shout out to our friend John Machoda for these
videos that he was posting on Twitter. Now, ladies, that
sounds interesting enough, right, like he's kind of alluding to
direct conversations.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
But then Jerry kind of continued to go on and
said this.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
And I really, are you kidding me? That's just not
something that you should worry about. You should be worrying
about your ability to make it work, and you should
be worried about what the player does. Does he have
good enough health, does he have enough skill to do
(04:22):
what you're paying him? The money for the agent is
not a factory here or something to worry about. And
I don't know his name. And so my point is
that I'm not trying to demean you in any way,
but this isn't about an agent. The agent doesn't have
(04:42):
one thing to do with what we're doing when we
get on a football field against the team Mica does.
To the degree I'm involved, I do the people that
have something to do with what we do going forward
relative to our fans in football or me and the player,
(05:03):
not the agent. And I'm not demeaning the agent. I'm
just saying, but anybody can do this, and let's hold
directly to a player. And frankly, frankly, most people that
negotiate me will tell you that it was so it
was better off than negotiating with them, anybody saving or
(05:29):
anybody involved. So this is not uncommon vision directly with
as far back as them it Dion Uh and we,
by the way, maintained relationship that lasted well after their
playing days, and.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
To put contacts to that, he was pretty much asked
if he's been in contact with Micah's agent, to which
about let's see.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Two minutes ago.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Three minutes ago, Michael Parsons tweeted out about this quote,
tweeting Clarence Hill's tweet, he said, facts, David is the best.
David's his agent, and I will not be doing any
deal without tagging David involved, like anyone with good sense.
I hired experts for a reason. There's no one I
trust more when it comes to negotiating contracts than David.
There will be no back doors in this contract negotiation.
(06:20):
Preach ladies' thoughts on this whole song this morning because
it was a little bit of a rollercoaster, if you will.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
It's a lot to unpack.
Speaker 10 (06:29):
I'm glad Micah said something about it because the first
thing I wrote before we even got here was Clarence's
tweet about record contract without his agent involved, And I'm like, Okay,
I'm in a business where I signed contracts that have
nothing anything close to what Micah Parson's is about to make.
But I still don't go into that room without my
agent and write. I'm not, like I said, nothing is
(06:53):
touching what Mike is about to make, right. So it
was just kind of like, I think I've only been
covering the Cowboys going on my second season. Jerry's Jerry, Okay,
everything is going to do what it does, so the
Cowboys stay where they're at, and that is at pretty
much to national headlines. Right We're talking about a team
who's coming off a losing season, and guess who the
(07:13):
national media is talking about every single time. When I
saw Micah Parsons it was quoted contract has no urgency,
I was like, I'm not biting, not doing it. Did
it with you guys last off season with the seeding lamb?
He doesn't mean it for that part. We know this
is urgent, we know this is a priority. We know
they want him to be a cowboy. They will know
(07:34):
who want to retire him as a cowboy. But they
also know that his price is going up. They know
they're going to have to meet at least what Miles
Garrett has got paid. Okay, there's a new market, and
as much as Cowboys fans and a lot of us
in this building want it to feel like there's a deadline,
there really isn't.
Speaker 6 (07:51):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (07:51):
He's contracted to still have a full year with this
team regardless, and Mica is just sitting back be kicked
up and letting the price go up. That's how I like,
I'm not biting too much into it. Yes, this would
be great if it was done already, but I don't
think this is getting done before the draft. I don't
even think it's getting done before camp starts, to be honest,
I think they're going to kind of press and see
(08:13):
is he going to do all the things he said
he was going to do at the end of the season,
And that's showing up to stuff that he normally doesn't
because he says that's it's nothing against anything, but he
doesn't really typically go to the voluntary OTAs and all
those such, but he said he would, So I think
they're gonna sit back also and see if he does that.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
What do you think? Huh huh, I.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Know it's the lots of the back Ye's associated.
Speaker 11 (08:35):
I mean what I think initially hearing the commentary, insert
the Nick Young meme, huh, this ain't.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Got nothing to do with the agent.
Speaker 7 (08:47):
The agent is not important. Since when?
Speaker 11 (08:50):
Since when our agent's not intricate to these contract talks
and the things that go on.
Speaker 7 (08:54):
So that whole thing was odd. It is.
Speaker 11 (08:58):
Here's the thing about contracts and this how it's always
been explained to me, is that players are playing when
they get paid, they get paid for what they've done,
not for what they are going to do. He has
done more than enough. It is frustrating. It really is
frustrating me because to me, I understand, you know, the
give and take, the conversations, the negotiations, I understand all
(09:20):
those things. But when I earn something, I earned it
like it shouldn't be this back and forth and all
this stuff that's going on, and I just I don't.
I don't particularly like the commentary regarding the agent personally,
I don't because to act like they're not important to
what's happening right now and things like that, that to
(09:41):
me is not realistic about what this is, how this goes,
and how this works.
Speaker 7 (09:47):
In regard to.
Speaker 11 (09:48):
Micah coming to the voluntary workouts and all that stuff,
all right, whatever, I mean, so he who's who's a
left tackle? Are we gonna get plays off?
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Like?
Speaker 11 (09:59):
I'm not trying to be funny, but it's like, yeah,
he goes fish, you have bigger fish to fry. And
the thing is is that when Michael goes and he
isn't at voluntary workouts, it's not that he's not working,
it's not that he's not training, it's not that he's
not doing anything. But we already know also too he
is a level of athlete that is continuing. I enjoy
the fact that he's trying to continue to get better.
Speaker 7 (10:21):
Is there something be said about him.
Speaker 11 (10:22):
Being connected to the team and and players other players
feeling like he needs to be present, Fine, sure, whatever,
But what he has to prove himself in that regard
is that is that what we're saying is that what
we're saying, we're gonna wait and see if he comes
to voluntary workouts to see if he's really engaged and stuff.
Speaker 7 (10:41):
This is I mean we see on trial. What is this?
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yeah, it's it's interesting because Breed to your point, he's
never done that, and that's not anything shocking, but yet
it continues to make headlines.
Speaker 7 (10:51):
At and a lot of players don't.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
And and to be fair, he's doing other things to
train in that time that he's gone. And we know
that based on things he says, based on things other
people have said, he's getting into offensive line genius's minds
to see how they think how he can be better.
What was he doing sumo wrestling last offseason? I mean,
this man's doing different things to better his art and
(11:16):
better his skill here. So it's not like he's just
sitting around on the couch hanging out not doing anything right,
So I think this is such an interesting wave to
to say out loud that you know, they're kind of
going through negotiations with each other. And and Jerry did
(11:37):
mention that Micah is one of the only people he
gave his cell phone number two. He said, quote, one
of the three individuals that has my cell number. He
asked for it about a month ago. I want to
be able to talk to you at any time. I said, Micah,
you're one of the few. But well, but we'll talk anytime.
Call me there, just to call you.
Speaker 9 (11:55):
Can we talk?
Speaker 11 (11:56):
Like I personally think it's it right now, I'm bothered.
I'm starting I'm by I'm starting to think there's more
to what's going on because we looked at this contract.
This conversation is very cut and dry. He's one of
the best. You pay the best, but with this this
some of this conversation and the phone numbers and the
(12:18):
bringing up the agent and the I'm not demeaning, but
I kindam the agent. What is there something else going
on that we don't know as far as like what
they are looking for from Micah?
Speaker 7 (12:32):
Because I feel just about his play, I don't understand.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
I will say this.
Speaker 9 (12:36):
You know why I'm not getting worked up and I'm not.
Speaker 10 (12:38):
Frustrated is because this is what the cowboys. Oh, don't
say that, and this isn't a bad thing. The two
things that listen Zach Martin's retirement. What did Jerry go
off there say? He said, I've never never spoken to
Zach Martin's agent to get a deal done.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
I've always gone through Zach Martin.
Speaker 7 (12:58):
Oh arnacles.
Speaker 10 (13:00):
He also said at the end of the season, yes,
I like my coaching staff, I like Mike McCarthy, all
this kind of stuff, right, But he also said he
has the option to talk to these teams. I want
to see if he's loyal. Basically, remember that, this is
why I'm not.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
Getting worked up. This is what Jerry Jones does.
Speaker 10 (13:18):
And then I don't even think it's like to people
on the outside and to the other thirty one organizations,
it's weird. But working here and being alongside Jerry and
seeing how it works, I'm almost accustomed to it because
I don't see it as disrespect or what have you.
This is how he does business and he is not
(13:39):
going to shy away and he's not going to do
things differently. This is Jerry Jones's team and this is
how they're going to do it. He's going to do
things that are out of the box.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Here's the thing. Yeah, but does that make it right
because here's my thay, Zach.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Baron, no disrespect to Zach Martin, go we miss you already.
That's different generation of football and this is the new
millennial generation coming in here that is not going to
sit around and have to take pay cuts and have
to you know, take side roads to get what they deserve.
Listen to what Jordan Lewis just said when he left
that he didn't want to have to take a pay
(14:17):
cut to stay here. And I don't think that that
should be the case every year, that you just rely
on the fact that you are the Dallas Cowboys and
guys want to be here, because yeah, they do. And
and Micah is a player who has talked about he
just wants to play football, but it doesn't mean he
deserves to have to take less because that's how it
is here.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Like that's the whole issue, and that's I think it.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Just goes deeper than That's just how Jerry Jones is
because as a millennial myself, that mindset and that shift
of you know, the older generation doing that, that's a
big conversation, especially now, Like I know for me when
it comes to my paycheck, look, I want to take
what I deserve and I'm not putting my body on
the line like Micah par since his season in season now,
(15:02):
like y'all have to think of it as a perspective
of he is a human with a job with a
family with children, right, He's he's not just here.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
It's not I.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Think that's why it's so upsetting to hear because it
just should be done already. Like this even goes back
for me as far as you knew this was coming.
Why is it just not like, why do you wait
until the last minute to get it done?
Speaker 4 (15:26):
That's it's an itching point.
Speaker 11 (15:28):
But you must have a good therapist because your emotional regulation.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah, you know you said you pass that along over here.
Speaker 7 (15:34):
You know, I'm not gonna let it stress me out yet.
Speaker 11 (15:38):
Like I said, I I think we can sit in
and and say, like, have your feelings because I think
in the back of my mind I feel like that.
Speaker 7 (15:44):
I'm like, yeah, this had I do things so but
it also is just like but to what end?
Speaker 11 (15:49):
Yeah, when you have a player like Michael Parson's, like, what.
Speaker 7 (15:53):
Precedent are you setting?
Speaker 6 (15:55):
They're gonna make him. They're gonna they're gonna pay a
new market.
Speaker 11 (15:59):
Yeah, they're gonna pay him. And that's what Jared was saying, like, yeah,
we intend to pay him. We know we're gonna there's
gonna be a deal. Like let's just really know that
it's just gonna come at a weird time, were gonna
be have other things going on, it's gonna.
Speaker 7 (16:13):
Be breaking news.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
It's just to me if you if you want to
just be about football and winning, you get rid of
the distractions and the outside noise and you.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Just do that.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
The directions sell you just well, you just get the
deal done. Working in the media, they do girl bye.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
But the point you just get it done. Like for
for media, great, for the guys in the locker room
that have to be the story, not great, you know,
for Micah Parsons that still has to come in and
do his job and have this lingering Like, yeah, Mike
has said time in and time out conversations on camera,
conversations I've even had with him, you know, just in
(16:50):
the locker room. In general, it's not about money for him.
But it doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve to get
paid what his worth is. So AnyWho, we're going to
take our first break when we come back. We're gonna
hear what Brian Schottenheimer, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys,
still get used to that I had to say about this,
as well as some other lingering questions, such as that
(17:12):
wide wide receiver two spot stay with us is scirrels,
talk boys, tack will beer back.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
Welcome Back to Girls Talgboys Talk, presented by visit line
Jess Bree Aisha here, Yeah, how are we in April?
Speaker 6 (19:58):
It's gone by real quick.
Speaker 7 (19:59):
I don't want to talk about it draft time.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
So oh you know what, I'm so glad you brought
that up.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
Boom boom boom, so.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Glad you brought that up.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Here's why Brian Schottenheimer excited to talk on a few
key things. We do have a SoundBite not to drag
this whole Micah conversation out, but he did speak on
Micah's contract and kind of like what they expect from
him going forward.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
So, Chris, if you don't mind playing that, we would
love you forever even though we already will.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
Mhm, it's playing.
Speaker 9 (20:29):
It's not playing.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Oh no, okay, that's okay. Let's let's go over the
bullet points of it. Thank you, Chris, we still love you.
But it does say that he said, at the end
of the day, this is business. Things like this take time,
and Micah said he will still be around. So I
(20:52):
don't think y'all can expect any holdout situation. Doesn't sound
like it, y'all if y'all were wanting that, that's not
the direction things were sounding like they're going in.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
So there's that. As far as.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Draft Shoty did talk about that, he said he talked
about you'll love this. Ah's talking about taking the best
player available, that that always feels like the best way
to go. That they feel like they're not done yet
with what they've done, you know, during free agency going
into draft. Oh okay, let's reverse back, pretend I didn't
say any of that, talking about Yeah, you.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Guys know me.
Speaker 15 (21:24):
He looks at the end of the day, this business
and when you're dealing with, you know, the money that's
being tossed around, not just to Mike it but with
with the big name players, negotiations sometimes take care of
I feel very comfortable Mike.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
You said he's going to be around.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
I think that's what he wants to be.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I think we're all very comfortable with that.
Speaker 15 (21:40):
And at the end of the day, he's a great player,
and uh, you know, we think he's just getting started,
to be honest with you, so I have no no,
no question in my mind, you.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Gonna be around. That's the ladies.
Speaker 11 (21:53):
There needs to be a study done on how at
the end of the day gets input into everyone's vocabulary
that works here.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
At the end of the day, you're gonna start saying
it too, like you're gonna not understand and realize that
you're just setting at the end of the day.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
When you start walking in this building, you just start
saying it.
Speaker 7 (22:12):
It's gonna get you.
Speaker 11 (22:13):
I mean, obviously, Brian Scheinheimer is driving the ship at
this point, so if he and Mike have had conversations
and he believes Mike is going to be here like
they said before, he is technically still under contract, so yeah,
I guess just do what you gotta do.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
And thoughts on his uh talk about taking Bpa in
the draft.
Speaker 10 (22:35):
That's my favorite. That's my favorite.
Speaker 7 (22:38):
I mean, I mean the Cowboys a obviously in a
unique spot.
Speaker 11 (22:41):
I think somebody asked me last week, like, who do
you think they're gonna pick? I'm like, listen, I think
it could be a wide receiver, a corner, a defensive end.
I think it could be any number of things. They
have so many positions they.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
Need to fill. So for me, but they did say
that I think I did.
Speaker 11 (22:56):
Hear one of them mentioned explosive, looking for an explosive
player for their wide receiver two spot. And it's we've
talked about it for years now that Ceedee Lamb needs
a number two that people are gonna respect as well,
so they can take some pressure off of him. If
that is their intent moving forward. I actually tweet it
like it sounds like they're gonna develop the guys they
have here. They're still talking about Mingo, still talking about
(23:19):
Jalen Tobert Flornoy, all those gentlemen, but they still want
to continue to try to get someone in the draft.
I think there's gonna be quite a few guys there
that are going to help this team. So if it's
a wide receiver, y'all, I'm a fight. Want it on
draft night? Oh, I'm a fight.
Speaker 7 (23:38):
I'm gonna be ecstatic if it's a wide receive.
Speaker 11 (23:40):
If it's a wide receiver, I just don't think we
can state how much that's gonna open up your offense.
If a young guy comes here and you need immediate impact, correct.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
Like the media impact.
Speaker 6 (23:50):
So I'm happy with it.
Speaker 7 (23:52):
You do the BPA. Whatever the guess may be.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Are you heart set on a specific position or.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
Yeah, I think we need more than others.
Speaker 10 (24:00):
When I'm sitting down, I'm looking at the draft. The
Cowboys are in a unique position because there's not maybe
one position, one position group.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
I'd be like, what are we doing? But there's so many.
Speaker 10 (24:11):
Needs, right, So yeah, I think I agree, you know,
best player available, that's what you want.
Speaker 6 (24:17):
And I like that they're thinking that way.
Speaker 10 (24:19):
They're not going in set like, Okay, we have to
have this because you guys really could spread around. But
I want to see what the Cowboys identity is as
a team, because when I look at the team like
the Bengals, it's pretty clear what their identity is and
why they can be that right. They are this offensive
minded team that they know they paid who they need
to pay, and they're going to be slinging that ball
(24:39):
downfield and their defense if it does not match their offense,
going to pick them up. So I'm trying to look
at this team now that there is an offensive minded
head coach that came in who has this all this
coaching staff that are pretty adamant that they're going to
run the ball and that is going to be part
of their identity, which was not last year. I'm really
(25:01):
interested to see how invested they are making that work.
I'm a little scared when I say that, because when
you have an offensive lineman type of vibe of a
coach and you just retired Zach Martin and you have the.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
Number twelve pick, I'm knocking. I'm looking at Ash's face.
Speaker 10 (25:24):
I'm not gonna be surprised if they addressed that early on,
only because I feel like that position group, if you
do let it go further, you're not going You're taking
a chance. I know I'm saying it, but I just
I wouldn't be surprised. I might throw up because I
don't want to see that. I would love for them
to get that explosive number two wide receiver.
Speaker 9 (25:45):
But yes, you think they're gonna go off as a line.
Speaker 7 (25:50):
That is what you're saying to me.
Speaker 10 (25:51):
I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised
because they right now, that group it's young and exciting
for the coaches they just brought, and I just think
that's their emphasis.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
I want them to do it. I don't want them
to do it.
Speaker 11 (26:05):
I want them to find value in the later rounds.
Speaker 7 (26:09):
I want them to develop.
Speaker 11 (26:10):
I've seen Clayton Adams work with not first round picks.
They had one on their freaking offensive line and the Cardinals,
yet they were still efficient.
Speaker 7 (26:19):
Like, you need to use that for skill positions.
Speaker 11 (26:23):
I'm sorry, your top three picks need to be skill positions.
Speaker 7 (26:27):
I can't take it no much.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
I want a new shiny toy, That's what I want.
I want a star wide receiver or a star running back.
I beg, here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
As much as I feel like, yeah, the offensive line
needs depth, yeah, I just feel I would feel more
comfortable with the offensive game plan. You know, shoddy or
not whoever was the coach. I always just wanted somebody
at that two spot in the world receiver room solidified.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
Done.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
You don't have to worry about it because it's a
constant conversation and it's been for two years of Jalen Tolbert,
Jalen Brooks, Avante Trippin. I just think at this point
you kind of know where they are in that lineup.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
And that's okay.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
They can still have value, Like, don't get it twisted.
I think each of these guys in that wide receiver
room can have value in their own way and their
own skill set. However, I just think you need a
solidified number two and a free agency obviously works at
the time to everyone.
Speaker 11 (27:33):
Oh, I'm for a wide receiver running back with receiving capabilities.
Speaker 9 (27:37):
Unicorn, but the wide receiver too.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
You mentioned the Bengals, T Higgins, JAMR. Chase. You mentioned
Philly Davante Adams and what is that man's name? What
is that man's name?
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Are you still in Philly?
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (27:55):
Why his name slipped me?
Speaker 5 (27:56):
Like that?
Speaker 9 (27:56):
Who's the wide receiver one Brown?
Speaker 4 (28:00):
I didn't know where you were going with House.
Speaker 11 (28:02):
I was like, hopefullanners have Terry McLaurin. And then who
didn't they just sign someone do a free agency?
Speaker 7 (28:07):
They signed a lot of people, girl hater Todts.
Speaker 9 (28:09):
Anyway, your point one, we get to get everybody.
Speaker 6 (28:12):
Everybody got a one two.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
The one in the two, so you need the two.
It's just time. So all right, these games, well.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
We're gonna take our next break. When we come back,
we're going to talk a little bit more about what
Shoddy said about the offensive line updates who could be
at center. Not only that, I want to get into

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Okay, let's get back to it a ya. All right, ladies,
we kind of left him now. I'm hungry, uh with
what Sety was talking about earlier today and yesterday.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
I believe about the offensive line.
Speaker 9 (32:20):
Brie.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
You had sent this out in the group chat, and
it was an interesting little nugget kind of about the future.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Pretend I have like a little ball of.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
Future right here, pulling it up now.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm killing time and so I'm looking
into the future of what Bran Shatnenheimer says the offensive
line will look like, specifically at center, and he said.
Speaker 10 (32:44):
Cooper bebe at center is the plan right now. He
had this to say about brock Hoffin can be a
seventeen game starter at right guard. I would never bet
against brock Kaffman.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
Brockh Hoffman Man.
Speaker 10 (32:56):
If I was a back room of a bar, I
had to get out the way he's wired, he would
be one of the first guys I'd want with me.
Speaker 6 (33:03):
What do you think?
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Wow, yee huh, yeehaw, that's my first one.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
Yeah, I love it?
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Are you sure?
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (33:12):
What do I think about it? I'm okay with it.
Speaker 11 (33:15):
I understand that a lot of people I watched Cooper
Beb's tape, Beamer, you know how much we liked Cooper
by coming out in the draft as a guard. However,
he has taken on the challenge of learning center and
for how much they took him through last year with
perfecting that, perfecting his snaps and getting better, I understand
that interchangeability is something that has become valuable in the NFL,
(33:38):
but we also have to also value development and what
changing positions does to development and that it can stifle
and things like that.
Speaker 7 (33:46):
So for me, and as in regard to brock.
Speaker 11 (33:48):
Hoffman, yeah, I think brock Hoffman is an adequate starter.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
I do. I think he's an adequate starter. His temperament fits.
Speaker 11 (33:55):
I think he is going to help you out in
the run game, especially getting to the second level on
some of those things. So I'm okay with it. And
I think one thing, and this goes back to our
conversation earlier about the offensive lineman possibly being drafted, is
that you have to develop. You cannot depend on guys
coming in and being early round picks and that being
your bread and butter. This is a man that has
(34:16):
worked his way up and so it keeps the competition fresh.
It's fine to me. The sooner that they have a
solidified offensive line, the better is gonna be.
Speaker 7 (34:24):
For the rest of the season.
Speaker 11 (34:25):
Right, So for me, cool, if that's what they're gonna
run with, that's what they're gonna run with, and I
think that's enough. I think Clayton Adams is the coast,
has shown he can do enough with three high level
starters and then some other guys whatever the case gonna be.
So I'm cool with it for now. What does this
mean for TJ. Bass returning from a quad? Is he
(34:45):
gonna be your swing guard now? Because Hoffman kind of
filled in as your it does take a piece away. Yeah,
and maybe that's something you address. But Hoffman as the
starter is and something that scares me. What about you, ladies?
Speaker 10 (34:57):
Yeah, I mean I'm looking at the line and if
you're talking about the starting who would start today, like
who's the oldest alignment? Like, that's a young group, right
and to your point, developing and who they brought in
that's the exciting part. And then I'm just like, I'm
interested in Cooper BB Like, I know he came in
and he had to, you know, went through those rough
patches of learning a new position that he wasn't familiar
(35:20):
with in college. However, I would just like to know
what is he more comfortable with? Like I think that's
important too, especially when you're talking about developing in depth.
I think it matters like if you keep forcing someone
who isn't you know comfortabout that? So maybe at what
point could you try him somewhere else?
Speaker 4 (35:39):
If that makes sense.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
I think it speaks to how much they have they
trust the development he has made within a year, and
you know, in speaking to Cooper bby All last year
and you know those around him, he's really honed in
on what it is to be a center in the NFL.
And to be honest, I'm okay with him not moving
(36:02):
from that because you also have to remember the amount
of chemistry and just work going into being a center
and having a good rapport with your quarterback.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
That to me is so important. And Cooper and Dak
well not as much as we would have liked to
see them last season.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
But they were building really really hard on that, and
so I think giving him another year to continue to
get better at that is the best route because I
do think in terms of kind of some of the
guys we've seen in recent times and moving positions and
then putting them back, it kind of it kind of
takes you back a year. Yeah, you know, not that
(36:43):
it's not valuable in a way, but I'm good with it.
Speaker 7 (36:46):
Yeah, I'm fine with it for now.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Especially.
Speaker 11 (36:49):
I think it was smart of them, of course to
get the coaching staff in here early, so the philosophies
and stuff can mesh Also too, we heard a shoddy
talk about working with the scouts, making sure he's communicating
with them. I'm sure they appreciate that. I'm sure they're
excited about being able to be a part of the
planning in that type of way. But as far as
what the Cowboys want to do, if they do want
(37:10):
to run the ball more, yeah, I think that Brockkaffman
has some improvement to make in the passing pass pro department.
But do you just find someone to replace that swing
guard situation or just an extra death piece maybe at
center or whatever the case may be, and go about
your business. Sure, But also too, we have to also
think like most teams don't have a whole starting offensive
(37:32):
line to back up they don't like I think we
have become accustomed to the fact that we have guys
that can plug and play, and that is a beautiful thing.
Speaker 9 (37:42):
However, that's a luxury.
Speaker 7 (37:44):
It's not a necessity. It's not so for me, cool
with it. Do what you gotta do.
Speaker 11 (37:49):
With brock Hoffman, I think he's earned it, and I
think he's gonna continue to battle in camp as well.
Speaker 7 (37:54):
Now, the tackle position is what we do need to
be talking.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
About Yes, it's the attitude for me.
Speaker 7 (37:59):
Boom boom boom. It's uh, it's not that scary, y'all,
don't freak out. Not that's scary.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
No, it's it's not that it's scary, but it does
need to be better like that.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
It's quickly, real quick.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
I want to get into We have about five minutes
left of the show, so sad, I know you guys
are gonna miss us for a whole week. But there
were some rule changes that'll be going into effect this
uh season. I kind of wanted to get into them
and see how that's going to impact the Cowboys and
the current roster that we know that they have.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
Something interesting is this?
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Uh, I guess converses with the NFC East the NFL,
according to Jory Epstein love Jory so so much. She said,
the NFL has tabled its vote on whether to ban.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
The tush push. You know that you knew this was
going to be a topic of conversation.
Speaker 6 (38:48):
I think it's funny.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
I don't know how do you feel about that, though, Like.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
How do you feel how do you feel I hate
the toush push?
Speaker 3 (38:55):
You know that?
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Okay, well you stand it.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
I just I just coming from Buffalo.
Speaker 7 (39:01):
I mean that is.
Speaker 10 (39:03):
If you look at who runs it the most of
the second team in the NFL, who runs it the
most outside of Philly.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
So I guess I'm a little bit biased because I've.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
Seen it work.
Speaker 10 (39:10):
I seen it, Yeah, push when it needed to to
get them where they But I don't know, like I
think I think it was Mike Tomlin who said it.
I kind of agree with what his sentiment on it.
You know, this game is evolving. You talked about earlier,
just about the players, like the contract situation, right, it's
not the same generation. It's the same with the game
(39:32):
and the players as well. The coach is mine. Remember
how excited we were in the offseason about getting some
of these college coaches right, they see the game differently
and this organization needed that. And I think that is
with the push push whatever, right, Like that is kind
of how some of.
Speaker 6 (39:48):
The coaches got outside the box.
Speaker 10 (39:50):
They made it their thing and some some teams are
better at it than others.
Speaker 6 (39:54):
Some utilize it more than others.
Speaker 10 (39:55):
So of course the ones who aren't, who are getting
on the other side, they don't like it, what have you.
I'm not I'm not totally you know, against it.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
I do.
Speaker 10 (40:03):
I forgot what game was that. I think the commanders
were involved, was it? Commanders and Phillies were like it
was just going back and forth and it was getting
out of out of hands. So like, I don't know
how you. I don't know how you regulate it. Thank goodness,
I don't make the rules. But I'm like, I'm not
totally like against it, but I I do think when
it's getting like excessive like that, like it's too much.
Speaker 7 (40:21):
Yeah, yes, yeah.
Speaker 11 (40:23):
For me, I'm very on the fence about it because
I do believe in football, if you find a competitive edge,
oh well, so be it. I feel I'm sorry to
this man.
Speaker 7 (40:33):
I don't care.
Speaker 9 (40:33):
Like, if that's how you do it, that's how you
do it.
Speaker 11 (40:36):
I think coaches using creative ways to figure out how
to find.
Speaker 7 (40:40):
A competitive advantage is something.
Speaker 11 (40:42):
That we look for in this game. So it's not
something that I just hate. The part that makes it
difficult for me is the fact that it it's not
something you can practice, like you defensively, have no real
ways without harming yourselves because of the NFL and things
like that. During practices and things like that, there's no
(41:03):
way for a defensive side of the ball to perfect
how to defend this because in most situations they can't
practice it. And again that it may just be an
O weal thing like oh well you can't practice it
or whatever. But if it is it a competitive edge
if the perse if the teams you're competing against can't
(41:25):
practice it, can't perfect it, can't figure out how to
counter it.
Speaker 7 (41:28):
Really, I don't know. I don't know, and I guess
it is kind.
Speaker 11 (41:32):
Of like a rhetorical thing where it's like, yeah, maybe
it is it. I don't know how helpful it is
for the game as a whole, because it's not something
that other teams can carry or do or whatever the
case they be. You mentioned the Billsbury how successful were
there because Philly is like.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
You know that, you know reason it's such a conversation
and I.
Speaker 11 (41:57):
Think it's awesome that they took something rugged, you know, oriented,
and brought it into this league. It just shows how
we're kind of married and stuff. But at the same time,
if defensive players have no way to figure out how
to defend it, it's kind of just bad TV beat football.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
I think that's why I have such a problem with
it is because there's no way to practice it, so
you're at higher risk of a defensive player getting injured trying.
Speaker 6 (42:21):
To do it injuries as yet.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
And that's what bothers me the most about it is,
you know, when you're talking in terms.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
Of player safety, oh the no fun legal boo.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
Look, guys, these are livelihoods of people that have to
come out and do this every day. And if you're
risking injury just for a touch push, like, to me,
that's not a good enough reason to keep it legal.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
And to an extent, I think once in a game.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
Sure, I maybe there's like a limit that they could
put on to how many touch pushes you can go
in a game.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
But yeah, that's too many touch pushes. But I think, yeah,
there's there's things above all.
Speaker 10 (43:00):
I guess, yeah, these are men, These have families, and
I think that's my biggest thing. Hasn't done a better
job each year? You know, even with the new kickoffer, right,
that was the whole point. It was a safety thing.
So I'm more interested helmets when I speak about you know,
come from Buffalo and seeing it be successful and what
have you. I also would like to see the stats
just like they did last year with the kickoff returns,
(43:21):
and like, are how many people have actually had indianes?
Because at the end of the day, this is this
is football, right, You're going to have injuries, but if
it's a substantial amount and it's just coming from this,
then I agree, Like.
Speaker 6 (43:31):
Above all, it's it's safety first. These are these are
human beings right.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
So and one more thing, because you mentioned the new
kickoff role and that kind of stems from spring football,
which now has a little place in my heart. Stay
tuned for a fun announcement soon.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
But I wanted to get into the NFL announcing.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
The Sony Hawkeyes technology will be used next season to
electronically measure first downs officially now meaning that the chain
crew will remain on the sidelines for just in case purposes.
But when you have a fourth and inches, a third
and inches situation, we're going to continue to see that
technology come to life. And that's something that spring football does.
(44:11):
The UFL implements that. You know, it's fun to watch.
But what do you guys think of that? Did you
like the games that you saw? I mean, I can't
recall of a specific situation where we had to depend
on it, but how do you feel about the technology
aspect coming into this game now, I'm you know, I think.
Speaker 10 (44:26):
Kind of a lot of what people have been saying
on social media lea is what I've saw.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
I think a lot of it's.
Speaker 10 (44:31):
About time to say the game is evolving. We have technology,
yes that I've you know, even I covered the Triple
A team that was implementing it last year about calls
like there's just technology can do things that humans can't catch,
you know, like even last night March Madness.
Speaker 7 (44:48):
I'm just like, how do.
Speaker 6 (44:49):
You not see that?
Speaker 9 (44:50):
Right?
Speaker 10 (44:50):
Like it's those kind of calls, And it's also if
you can double down and get it right, why not?
Like I'm not against it at all. And then I
kind of look on it side at the end of
the day, it's technology, Like, yeah, technology as we know
can feel it's not, you know, but sulking human errors.
So I think if it's I think there has to
be some like, okay, when do we use it type
(45:12):
of you know, is it going like how do you know?
With everything there comes stipulations, what have you. But I'm
not against it. I think if you use it correctly.
Speaker 11 (45:23):
Yeah, the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys with like a word,
how many times did he break the plane in the
in the red zone and the end zone.
Speaker 7 (45:31):
And it was like just kidding, No, you didn't get
a touchdown.
Speaker 11 (45:36):
I want to say, yeah, that's something that he's encounter
but also too, I'm tired of being like, what is
that spot?
Speaker 7 (45:43):
How many times we do that last year? What is that?
How many times do we be.
Speaker 9 (45:46):
Like that's a spot an NFL, not even just every game.
Speaker 11 (45:51):
And if that's if this is going to mediate to
some extent, I'm all for it. If you put the
humans with the electronics.
Speaker 6 (45:59):
Stuff double down.
Speaker 11 (46:00):
Yeah, the more resources to me, the better for that
type of stuff because in these close games, every inch batteries.
We've learned that with Christy explaining every inch matter. So
it's like, however they gotta do it is fine with me.
I think it's a good rule.
Speaker 9 (46:15):
And the return rule too, Yeah, I like it all right.
Speaker 4 (46:19):
