Speaker 4 (01:43):
Is Zach Martin's officially retiring as a Dallas Cowboy?

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
He announced it, well, it was reported a couple of
days ago. Zach Martin.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
You just talk about the season that he has has
had here, Eleven seasons, Uh, the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
twenty ten All Decade Team, seven time All Pro, nine
time Pro Bowler, only seven career holding penalties, that's insane.
But just talking about and reflecting on the career that
you know, Zach Martin has had here, just kind of thoughts,

(02:14):
first reactions when you guys heard the news.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
I was happy for him, Yeah, I was happy for him.
I mean like it was bittersweet obviously seeing someone that
is basically like a no, like a I don't know
who is the word I want to use.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
But he's been a staple.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
He's been very important to what the Cowboys have wanted
to do, but also to just the example he sets,
the leader that he is as a person, how he
treats his family, all those things. It is a it's
a big loss. We're talking about a surefire Hall of Famer.
Anytime you lose one of those people, you're gonna feel
the impact of that.

Speaker 7 (02:46):
So for me, I was just happy for him.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
I'm always happy when guys, you know, feel fulfilled in
their career, but they feel comfortable enough to transition out
of football, because it's not an easy decision for any
of them, I'm sure.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
So just happy for.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Him again, a little bittersweet because that means you've got
no problems this way, but him as a person, Very
happy for him, very happy for his family.

Speaker 7 (03:09):
I'm sure they're going to be excited to have him
around more.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (03:12):
Yeah, growing up watching the Cowboys, it's always sad when
you see these legendary players finally decide that it's time.
But I wasn't too surprised by it. In fact, I
think we were all kind of just waiting for it
to become official. To your point, happy for him and
hoping that this next chapter of his life is just
as fulfilling as the last one has been. And so yeah,

(03:36):
it's very bittersweet. My questions now is like, Okay, how
does this impact the current team, and not even so
much like the order of the offensive line and who's
going to be where and who shifts to what position.
But this is a guy that he doesn't just teach
your offensive line things you ta. You hear the running
backs talk about how much he teaches, then your quarterback.

(03:56):
You know, every position essentially on the offensive side of
the ball, tight ends, wide receivers are going to miss
out on a little something because Zach Martin is no
longer in that locker room leadership wise, just mindset and
knowledge that is just so irreplaceable when you have a
guy like Zach Martin so interested to see kind of
how the dynamic shifts and more so who becomes that

(04:19):
offensive line leader with who you have now.

Speaker 9 (04:22):
And I have the same sentiments that you guys kind
of put out there. I mean, Tyler guy in Cooper Bebee,
You're going to Zach Martin to ask him what it's
looking like for them because his input matters that much
because he has a leader of this team. Also happy
that he did have his twenty twenty three season where
he held out, got paid and got what he deserved
on his way out. I hate that his eleventh season

(04:45):
ended with injury. I don't I think if he was
able to he would. I think his body I don't
think this is.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
The this is the end.

Speaker 7 (04:53):
That ankle was bothering him even last year, and.

Speaker 9 (04:56):
There was there was a moment I remember writing an
article where both his ankles yeah, we're heard, and I
was like, and it was it was listed as questionable.
I said, how are you gonna play in both of
his angles out? So his body gave up on him
and you hate to way that soon that ended. But honestly,
I mean Nicole listed of all his stats and there's
really arguably been no other offensive lineman to be able

(05:18):
to do what he's.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Did and we're talking about accolades.

Speaker 9 (05:21):
So happy for him, but bittersweet and now like it's time,
all right, what does this rest of this offensive line
look like now that that piece is gone?

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Yeah, you can't really put into words what Zach Martin's
meant to this organization, honestly, but best of luck to
him and his family as he kind of transitions to
life after football. But it's a whole lot of transition
in here, specifically for this offensive line. Really good, oh
sorry for.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
This offensive line.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
There's just still a lot of questions in terms of
whether the Cowboys uh draft a guard put Cooper beebe
move him out to guard like he played in college.
Now that Connor Riley's now the off it's a line coach.
Keep brock Coffin starting at ride guard because you saw
him play so well in place of Zach Martin this
year or this past season, so I want to start there.

(06:10):
Faith in brock Kauffman or do you have faith more
faith than Cooper BB playing at guard?

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Possibly this season? Anybody can, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
Honestly, this is going to be a training camp thing
that I'm really excited to watch now because you don't
lose either way, and when you're put in a position
a spent, especially with your offensive line, that it's a
win win either way. To have Cooper BB and Brock
Kauffman on the same line together, there's no wrong answer.
So for me, I think it's just kind of up

(06:41):
to the coaching personnel and staff to decide if Cooper
BB is going to stay planted at that center position
and if you know this past year was enough for
him to stay in that spot, or hey, let's try
it this way.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
You already know what Brockaffman can do at center.

Speaker 8 (06:55):
So for me, I'm excited like the fact that the
choice is between Cooper bb and brock Kaufman. It was
sad that only one could be on the line, but
now that you can have both and we get to
hear more about bra Khaffman's little chirpy self, it's really
exciting and he brings that juice to the offensive line
that you definitely need, a very old school, gritty football mindset.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
So excited for both of them.

Speaker 8 (07:20):
And what I really like about this offensive line is
the youth around it and how that impacts, you know,
kind of your draft process, not just this year, but
when you even start getting into like quarterback development and
that entire thing. It's nice to have a young group
that's going to grow together and learn together and seems
pretty stable as far as not missing or losing any pieces.

Speaker 9 (07:44):
I think it's like a scary but exciting thing because
you're looking at the coaching staff around who is and
to think of Cooper Bebe's former coach now coming back
to him.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
That's so much.

Speaker 9 (07:54):
We keeps using the word familiarity for the offensive side
of the wall. Personally, I would love to see how
BB thrives back to where he started, where he was
most comfortable at and as just his point if you
need him to go and switch over, he can also
do that, as he proved he could still bumps some
bruises right of his rookie season. But I'm I'm more

(08:14):
excited to see with this coaching staff's UH lineup looks
like knowing again the familiarity there with what they what
Kooper BB was able to do on the college level.
And then I would not be surprised if the Cowboys.
At first, I was like, they're not gonna I think
you mentioned it too. It's like the one they're not
going to address the offensive line with their early draft pick.
And now I'm like, Cowboys have done it six out

(08:38):
of the eleven.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
This last seven. I said I wouldn't, I wouldn't be
surprised at.

Speaker 9 (08:44):
This point, I'm sorry that wouldn't be surprised.

Speaker 7 (08:47):
They're so like And that's why I'm on the fensive hove.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
So because like when I look at the Dallas offensive
line and the guys that they have right now, the
only position that I think you don't have like any
depth that is right tackle, correct, But other than that,
obviously we let you have Tyler play right tackle, which
we'll see if that's something like well, I think we're
gonna get Like Jess said, some of this stuff will
be answered in training camp, Like if there hasn't been

(09:12):
like a sure fire improvement from that left tackle position,
then we could see them try to maybe move some
things around. But I think you guys are kind of
on the on the money with the fact that you're
kind of set with your interior right now, and I
think that's a luxury going into the draft to not
have to go reach up or go up higher for
offensive lineman.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
The center class is okay.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
I think they can maybe find someone in the later
rounds and convert them to a center if necessary. My
thing about and it's about to sound really selfish and badment,
my thing about brock k Hoffman and Cooper BB I
agree with you. I think Cooper b B he's gonna
become a really good center. I think he's obviously developing.
We saw improvement from him, but him at guard, and

(09:54):
that draft tape was something to be admired, So I do.
I do agree with the idea of him going back
to guard, but with brock Hoffmin being at center, I
think brock Hoffman and TJ.

Speaker 7 (10:05):
Bass awesome richards.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Those gentlemen, if those are your backup players. And I'm
not saying like I think Hoffman has earned he is.
He's an adequate starter in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
He is.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
But when you look.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
Across the season and you see seventeen games and you
see the like the physical turmoil these guys go to
go through, there's so much value in having depth in
that way. So for me, I would be okay with
Dallas maybe going in the later rounds and picking up
a center or another guard or whatever the case, maybe
even though they need to do tackle, but even if

(10:39):
there's a lot of tackles in this draft that are
to me guards and disguise as tackles. So I'm like,
I want brock Hoffman. He's earned the opportunity to compete.
But I'm also like, well, what happens if you know
someone goes down knowing that that guy can come in,
knowing that a TJ. Bass can come in, knowing that
awesome Richards can come in is a luxury And I

(11:02):
kind of want to cater to that not saying that,
and again it's weird. It's a weird place to be
because I feel like that's just me kind of being selfish.
And want to be like security security, you know, but
also too It's like, but I do think the Cowboys
to you get ladies point, they have put themselves in
a position.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
The players have put the team in a.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Position to go into the draft and not feel like
they gotta press and pick a first rounder or a
second rounder.

Speaker 7 (11:27):
You don't. You can find.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Value in these later rounds and maybe convert one of
those guys to a swing or whatever the case may be.

Speaker 7 (11:35):
So I'm on the fence about it, sister.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
It's O line maybe a possible option to be per
Stephen Jones, selectively aggressive.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
And and that might. Honestly, it would be even better
to go that.

Speaker 8 (11:50):
Round because it takes time to train and convert any
offensive line, even if it is you know, the same
position in college. Its time to develop. And so you know,
for me, get some veteran guys in here, like too
many DOGA has been that that guy for the last
couple of years, right, your veteran presence that he's a
plug and play kind of guy because he has experienced,

(12:12):
he's done it, he knows.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
What to do.

Speaker 8 (12:15):
Look ideally, that's how you figure out that situation. Aisha
of having depth, especially in the tackle position, because I
just think there's so many.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Other draft needs. Yeah, they already without a.

Speaker 8 (12:27):
Fourth that would be ideal to really attack other things.

Speaker 7 (12:32):
That skill positions are.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Much needed, much much needed. Look around the NFL.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
The top offensive lineman free agencies, free agents, Trey Smith
guard Chiefs number one. Uh, you have Ronnie Stanley from
the Ravens, Lark Jackson from the Rams, Drew Dolmen from
the Falcons, Mackai Becden Eagles, Dan Moore, Junior Steels, Cam Robinson, Vikings,
Will Fries Colts.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
What position will Coi Beck play.

Speaker 10 (13:01):
His guard?

Speaker 5 (13:02):
You might be able to give him for two dollars
because he got hurt. I think I believe he got
injured in the Super Bowl. I wonder how serious the
injury is.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
They got Ravens gotta tackle.

Speaker 7 (13:16):
And that's the thing about it too.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Is like as we talk about offensive line, they got
to be decisive on it. Like the scouts are going
to be having to work with the you know, the
area scouts are gonna have to talk about it like, hey,
do we need to go because those guys are gonna
go quick. Those top offensive lineman real quick.

Speaker 7 (13:32):
Fasten hery. We'll see them gone in the first couple
of days.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
So if Dallas does want to attack free agency and
get an offensive lineman, they're gonna be aggresive. It's also
gonna tell us a little bit about how they feel
about a Hoffman or a Tyler guy, whatever the case
may be, or an Austin Richards.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
So, yeah, Connor Riley, who on this offensive line, do
you feel like he can get the most out of.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
The most out of maybe who we hope?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Yeah, yes, outside from Cooper, Sorry, let me outside of Cooper,
outside of Cooper Tyler got Yeah.

Speaker 8 (14:06):
I just feel like I'm gonna say I think the
hy the hype, I even heard his so to me,
it's his personality and interviews is is a little I
don't want to it's a little I don't know, he
was following me Taylor got in.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
He's he's a I'm not talking about like human being.

Speaker 9 (14:24):
I'm talking about like it's just kind of like mellow
mellow one. It's like I'm saying that because I heard
when he first got here he was the opposite, is
what I'm trying to say. He was very up more upbeat,
and then I don't know if it's kind of like
also being a first round pick, you gotta kind of
like be able to realize that everything you say can

(14:45):
turn into a type of story. But I just like
who my coworkers described when I got hired and who
I saw in the scrum. So maybe not like Nicole's point,
like a one on one, but it was it was
kind of different, and.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
I feel like he was just feeling. You could tell
he was week by week, Uh, criticism for sure.

Speaker 9 (15:03):
Yeah, And it was just kind of like I saw him,
you know, like I'm traveling with the team and I'm
seeing him more and more and it's just kind of
like I just felt he was. I could see the
weight on him. That makes sense. So I'm hoping maybe
his second season he just can get out of his
own head. Know the mistakes are going to come, you know,
the critics are going to come, but you're here for

(15:24):
a reason. The Cowboys saw something in you for a reason.
So that's what I from him.

Speaker 7 (15:28):
I would say, Terren Steele form me.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Tern Steel is a gentleman that obviously went through the
ACL He's the only offensive lineman that you have on
this roster that has played every snap in the last
two seasons. And say it again very reliable. Yep, very reliable.
I look at post injury, by the way, post injury,
and you saw I did see an improvement in his

(15:54):
game as the season went on. Obviously we saw some
cohesiveness get better across the offensive line in general, but.

Speaker 7 (16:00):
In regard to.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
What is the coach's name, Connor Riley, in regard to
how he like sugar, in regard to how they like
to run the ball, and a lot of the things
that the previous offensive lines have done under these two coaches.
If I'm let me go back, what who's the who's

(16:24):
the other who's the offensive coordinator? Clayton Adams? I'm sorry,
but Clayton Adams in the way that he likes to
run the ball is it's obviously creative, but it intends
to get his offensive lineman on the move. When you
talk about Tanyon Steele, that's where he thrives. His athleticism

(16:45):
is what really shines through, and then also to the
ability to get to the second level. And I I
also have always said about Tanon Steele is that I
think he's a gentleman that has to feel the game
and the running game. If if there's gonna be an
uptick in the running game. He's gonna be able to
wear guys. I think we'll see an improvement in his
past pro with that. But I just think the things
that Clayton Adams likes to do with some of the

(17:06):
pull in and things like that, will allow Terrence Steele
to tap into some of the things that he does
really well that maybe screen game that he has not
gotten to do consistently here as a cowboy to start,
So Terrece Steel, hopefully he has an uptick and play.

Speaker 8 (17:21):
Dang, I'm gonna be different because y'all sick the top two.
I'm gonna go a little different round. I'm gonna say
Tyler Smith, and not because I think Tyler Smith needs
the best brought out in him. I think we've seen
that just uptick significantly from Tyler Smith, and he's done
everything he's needed to do.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
I personally see him.

Speaker 8 (17:39):
Becoming that offensive line leader this But what I want
to see is that continue and I want to see
that really mold out for him with the help of
this new coaching staff. I want to see that confidence.
I want to see that that leadership aspect of his
game really grow.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
Especially with that is that Martin you're going to need that.

Speaker 8 (18:01):
And I feel like Tyler Smith has slowly but surely
kind of been stepping into that role in Zach's shadows.
So for me, I need a coaching staff that's really
supportive of that. U supportive of him and in this
you know journey of him becoming that guy for the
Cowboys offensive line, because hey, very big shoes to feel
impossible to fill Zach martin shoes, but you can start
paving the way to have your own shoes filled eventually.

(18:23):
And so I think Tyler Smith, if he continues on
this growth pattern, is going to be in that situation.
So I need a coaching stuff that's supportive of that
and helps him continue to grow and learn him that way.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
That's a good that's a good one because I see
we saw last year. I think he is, to your point,
starting to step into starting to step into you know,
being like, hey, I'm kind of like a foundational piece
of this offensive line, and I think that's that's something
you'll see.

Speaker 7 (18:49):
So that was fantastic.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Big this offensive line is That's what I'm nuggets. But
that's what that was my point.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
Like the youngest oldest, sorry, oldest.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
There's still they're little. They're all younger than us.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
I mean, but Hoffman have been in the league though
half of my.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
Bed I think, yeah, he might be might be Hoffman,
it might be regardless.

Speaker 7 (19:10):
But they are very young. Your point such a.

Speaker 8 (19:12):
Luxury to have a young offensive line that gets to
grow together. And that's the point is, if you can
continue to retain talent and have them grow together, you
could be looking at such a strong offensive line in
the next few years. If anything that's exciting for Cowboys
fans going forward, it should be the strength that this
line can have if all continues to go well and

(19:33):
just pumps me up.

Speaker 7 (19:34):
Well, that's where I'm at.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
I'm like, give me whatever it's gonna be, make it
what it need to be, Like if this stop doing
this game going back, like, if it's gonna be like
and keep stay healthy. How many times do we talk
about continuity and all these things all year, the year
before last year, and so whatever their five is, baby,
I want to see it in camp.

Speaker 7 (19:56):
I'm trying to say them together.

Speaker 9 (19:58):
First week start, I remember it was like like every
day the ones. The next day we're asking they're like, oh,
we want to see well, uh, the other teams are doing.
We already see so like at that point and that
to hear to what you just said when you're getting
into the season, even McCarthy's things like September.

Speaker 7 (20:20):
Is the time to win games as many as you can.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Well, it's a little.

Speaker 9 (20:25):
Easier, and it made like that makes perfect sense, Like,
and you can't do that if there's no continuity there
and you're still trying to figure things out scheme wise,
you need to just you don't have you haven't had
the luxury of continuity because of injuries across the line
and whether that goes back to Tyron Smith and constantly

(20:46):
having to change that out Zach Martin. I mean, and
no knock to these older players goats, we know that,
but that's just the reality of as you get older as.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
An offensive lineman, you don't.

Speaker 8 (20:56):
Have that stability to play every single game like you
used to. So that's also another perk of having such
a young line is they're not so injury prone and
you can play more games together.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
Andrew Big also hit the defensive line as well, but.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
You know it in it who oh thank you.

Speaker 9 (21:14):
Idang just always want us to complete the sames because
I feel like that just makes it more fun.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
That's I'm in trouble, oh so diggy.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
So we're gonna take our first break and talk about this.
I was like, who we did?

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Get hey? I was like, who are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Yeah, I don't think so.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Yeah, mm hmm, I hate you.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
I'm really.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Hi, ladies, guess what.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
What that felt like?

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Another one?

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Now?

Speaker 3 (24:30):
I'm just scared.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
Scared.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
She has she has the fear in me. So I'm like,
can't help it. See anxiety for Stephen Jones has.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Said that the conversations or contract talks have already started
with Cowboys defensive tackle Oh so dig you sua shout
out yep to him, yep, love to see it.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
Uh just what.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
Does them obviously beginning the talks with uh, oh so
you about their intentions this season this off season?

Speaker 5 (25:04):
Already said it he did, He said, he like, hey,
this man is important.

Speaker 7 (25:10):
He smart.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Maybe he heard your letter last week. Probably, Yeah, I
think that's what.

Speaker 7 (25:25):
Even flu you ain't got no DT.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
No, no, I'm talking about Stephen Jones. Maybe they heard
our letters.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Probably, But I just think it's also too that there's
a demand.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
We talked about it.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
There's a demand, like there are people who are.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
Interested in OSA.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
I being nosy, I was like, oh, y'all like to like.

Speaker 7 (25:42):
You know, so them trying to get ahead of it.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
At this point, it's still kind of behind, but we
will tell what we can get. I'm actually happy to
see that they're trying to get it settled out and
and I know OSA wants to be here, so let's
just get it over with and then you can start
again to your point earlier, to your point earlier, just
is like, just like the offensive line, If I know
what my defensive line look like, life is going to

(26:06):
be easier moving forward, especially going into the draft. So
I'm happy that they're prioritizing it right now. I hope
something good comes from it. Do you guys, Do you
ladies see him being franchise tag?

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Possibly? I don't. What does it make sense? Doesn't make
sense to.

Speaker 7 (26:24):
Have to look at the use the tag.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
You don't have to look at the price of the tag.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
They didn't use their franchise tag last year, So I
wonder if twenty.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Five who else could be franchise tag?

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Though?

Speaker 8 (26:33):
Who do you think, Micah? Depending on the price, Depending
on the price. No, I'm just saying I don't if
you ask realistically, that could Yeah, talk about a five Now,
we're not manifesting that, we're manifesting. This still gets done.
Both deals get done and that's it.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Yeah, truly. I mean I don't want to be the
Debbie Downer, but.

Speaker 9 (26:57):
This, this organization doesn't have a great reputation right of
getting deals done in a timely matter one needs to
get and that's why they're in the position that they're
in right now. This is why Micah's contract is raining
down in this moment, right because if this was done,
OSA probably wouldn't be that serious because you already got
Micah down. So they put themselves in a situation where

(27:21):
the free agency in this position is just not that glamorous.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
OSA is one of the top guys.

Speaker 9 (27:26):
And when you're looking at the free agency we've talked
about this last week, there's no guarantees when you put
your hand into that draft. There's nothing guarantees as soon
as you get that person on the field that they're
just gonna magically make an impact. So they need someone
who's gonna make an impact automatically looking around the league,
and this is what I wanted to ask you guys today.
So we got the highest DT in the league. Obviously,

(27:48):
it's Chris Jones thirty one million a year coming from
the Chiefs, right, you go, top ten. Dexter Lawrence is
twenty one million a year. That's top ten. So I
ask you guys, is Osa top ten DT in this league?

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (28:04):
Yeah, he said to make possibly twenty one million or
more on if he gets a new deal.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
Sotly, I think a lot of people will argue no, really,
but they're not correct.

Speaker 7 (28:15):
I think a lot of people will argue no.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
Obviously, this past year, I think what's probably his best
year as a cowboy. I feel like he is going
to be more productive and I have seen a difference
in him on tape and productive production wise when he
does have a true nose next to him because he
is a three tech. This is a past rushing three

(28:37):
tech as well, which is his strength. So it's one
of those things too where it's like, do you have
to look at his I look at osa in like
a different perspective.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
I look at him year to year. What did he
develop on? How did he get better here?

Speaker 5 (28:50):
I think what we saw from him last year is
what we should expect from him moving forward.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
Is he's going to rush the past or he's going
to be disruptive.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
You can use him in twist, you can use him
across the offensive line, and we'll see him be successful now,
I think. But like I said, I think a lot
of people wouldn't would argue that he's not top ten
just based off of the fact that they haven't seen
it consistently, like year after year after year. But at
the same time, can we just talked about it. Defensive
tackle takes time to develop, So now he's kind of

(29:19):
going into that place to where, again, what we see
is what we're probably gonna get. If you're telling me
you're gonna get the last nine weeks of the.

Speaker 7 (29:25):
Season, Osa, how do we nurture that? How do we
figure out how to cap that consistently?

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Because the last nine eight to nine weeks he was
one of the best detackles in the league. He was
what top ten and rush stops, he was top three
in pressures. So it's like consistency that people can see
a team that needs to win right now. But again,
when you look at the market right now, OSA is

(29:52):
the top dog.

Speaker 9 (29:53):
Other teams are gonna come. If not calling, they're calling
now now. Stephen Jones says, we're having conversations. Okay, well
we know what the market is. So are y'all going
in there and be like, hey, appreciate what you've done.
Here's fifteen mil. What am I gonna do with this?

Speaker 8 (30:09):
Well?

Speaker 5 (30:09):
They got that spirit, they got that spirit their.

Speaker 9 (30:14):
Putting money on the table, and that's where I think
is the issue. Like everyone's getting excited that conversation are happening.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
And yeah, I don't give a little credit. Thank you
for having this conversation before the combine. Okay, that is good, Yes.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
But.

Speaker 9 (30:29):
I'm not I'm not bodying. I'm not buying in because
I've seen how and not just this team. I've covered
two other NFL's teams. GM say one thing and then
you look, that person's gone, and we back with two
for the price of one.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
And that's that's a little bit scary to me. I
don't know.

Speaker 8 (30:42):
I think OSAs say also matters in this because I
know he would like to stay in Dallas ideally, Like
I have multiple sources that can confirm that that I've
talked to that continue to say that. If it's up
to him, I think he chooses to stay.

Speaker 9 (31:00):
Now.

Speaker 8 (31:01):
Do I think he should take a pay cut if
somebody else is offering something better. No, I don't think
that for any player in any situation. But I do
think Osa wants to stay here, wants to continue to
play here.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
And if people want to argue he's not a.

Speaker 8 (31:18):
Top ten better better for the Cowboys, look, you don't
have to you don't have to argue with anyone, right,
but uh, is he a top ten to your point, Bree.
I think in terms of money, he's probably estimated to
get paid like one, but I don't I don't really care.
I just need osa Re signed on this roster because

(31:39):
he can be a top ten or not.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
The Cowboys need him.

Speaker 8 (31:41):
Otherwise you're in a more desperate situation without him than
you are with him on this offensive line, especially not
knowing what's gonna happen with Tank, especially not knowing the
health of Tank if if he returns Micah, not knowing
that situation, with that contract, there's a lot of question
marks and with those quests could be very negative outcomes.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
I don't want to say it, but you could.

Speaker 8 (32:04):
You could have a very empty defensive line if none
of those things work out. So for me, if you're
starting conversations about one of those dominoes falling, that's what
I need to hear, because at this point you could
be three for three, one for three, two for three,
or none at all. Like that's the reality of this business,
in this situation that the Cowboys are in this year.

(32:25):
So if you start with one, maybe the other dominoes
will fall in a line. But for me, get him
paid right, see what he wants. Go from there and
I do think just in terms of business, like, yeah,
look when we get job offers, Okay, do we sit
there and we take the first offer? No, you do
a little back and forth. You know you're worth you

(32:46):
sit there and you kind of go back and forth.
But yeah, I think if it's up to Osa, he
he does want to stay in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
What do y'all think DeMarcus Lawrence is gonna do?

Speaker 9 (32:56):
Lee?

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Well, not, don't. I don't think. I don't know how
to say that.

Speaker 5 (33:01):
I'm gonna be really short, That's all I got.

Speaker 7 (33:03):
I don't see it.

Speaker 9 (33:04):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
You don't you don't see them resigning him, or you
don't see him playing football.

Speaker 7 (33:10):
I don't see them resigning him.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
I will say in regard to the fact that he's
had multiple foot injuries and those things, like, I'm sure
DLA probably feels like he still can play, so I
wouldn't be surprised to see him in the commander sure
see stop. However, however, however, I do think, yeah, I
don't see it. Here back to the Oster conversation though,

(33:34):
when you look into this draft and this is that's
the part that's stressing me out because I know how
these folks here work, and this defensive tackle class is
one of the best we have seen in years.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Okay, so you want to miss they want to miss
the mark if.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Our team like, yeah, the team like coupons may be
at the register holding up the line.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Everybody left some phone.

Speaker 7 (34:00):
So but but they're gonna whip out.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
I already know what you're talking about too.

Speaker 7 (34:04):
They're gonna whip out that coupon.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
I don't want to see no coupon.

Speaker 7 (34:07):
I don't want to see it either.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
But I want to say that the fact that this
draft class is so rich at that position, I want
to add to what you got.

Speaker 7 (34:17):
I think it's smart to add too.

Speaker 5 (34:18):
Not necessarily replace Micah and all those stuff and start over.
But baby, like you're Linnville, Joseph gonna be on this
team again, I'm just Carlos Watkins is gonna be on
this scene again. You don't have any three texts. This
is not a conversation like this is not I think
it's so pointless. And understand people talking about the money
and stuff.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Who cares you do start with nothing?

Speaker 5 (34:41):
What you gonna do? Start with nothing?

Speaker 7 (34:42):
Who's gonna go play three tech?

Speaker 9 (34:43):
I mean every we talk about this seting us right, bye,
this is.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
It's not I'm not it's not if I have to
do it, be upset.

Speaker 7 (34:53):
I'm sorry, y'all.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
It's it's time to spend the check.

Speaker 5 (34:56):
It's time to spend the money.

Speaker 9 (34:58):
You're behind because you put yourself in the situation. This
is a copycat league. It's time to copycat. You got
the people in your division doing it the right way.
Just take a couple of pages. You just gotta figure it.
You gotta figure it out money wise. You gotta pay
what you know works, ohso works for this team and
what they have.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
Micah needs to be next.

Speaker 9 (35:18):
And that has to be put to bed because I
said it before. Having Micah on your team and taken
care of and guaranteed for how many every years to come?
That is a bargaining chip when you go get the
next guy who wants to win championships. I come from
a franchise that didn't win this long drought, and when
they finally started winning, when I was talking to players,

(35:40):
well why did you come here?

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Well, von Miller's on.

Speaker 9 (35:42):
The team, and I respect von Miller and I think
he's got some years left. I've seen him just win
a championship. And do that somewhere else. This is a
win now team, right, This is that's the purpose. You
got Dak in his prime. If you will still pushing it.
You just signed CD, you have Micah Barsonsaria. Those are
bargaining hips for people who want to come and win.
But you have to start showing that you're doing something different,

(36:04):
and that is spending the check, spaying the money.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Sorry, I all gonna say it says a lot about
them starting with Osa rather than getting Michaeh's contract done.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
I was gonna bring that. I was gonna bring that up,
but you don't. You don't want to get me st
But they're like schimmatically.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
They're roadies and like you said, also makes a Micah
better and Michael makes an OSA better.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
I mean, and they're But here's my thing. I'm talking cap.

Speaker 8 (36:31):
You know, salary cap. That's all we hear about right here.
It's not and it's important.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (36:36):
If you want to have the flexibility to pay these
players such as and ohso what they want to get paid,
guess what you need to do first is pay Micah.
And it's like the big contracts that come up every year.
We have the same conversation last year was if you
pay Dak, you can get all these free agents, you
can have all this flexibility, you can pay your guys.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Blah blah blah.

Speaker 8 (36:56):
I don't want to have that conversation again this summer,
but I feel like probably will just based on history
and what history tells us here. So I will be
interested to see what price OSA can and will take
if Micah's contract is not taken first, because it makes
you wonder how much more could have been offered if

(37:17):
Osa decides to go elsewhere.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
For more money, If that makes any sense.

Speaker 5 (37:21):
I care about the messaging too, No for sure, And
what I mean by that is Osa has done his job,
He's earned his next contract. The man has also been
very reliable. I think I mentioned last week, only missing
one game his whole.

Speaker 7 (37:35):
Career thus far.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
So you're talking about durability, you're talking about now production
as he's developing. He's extremely coachable. He doesn't give you
any problem outside the locker room. He's a locker room guy.
If a guy does all of that, why is it
so hard for him to get what he's what he's earned?
And I look at a guy like a Marshawn Neeland

(37:57):
who's young and coming up like, set the example, set
the tone. If you, like Bri said, if you want
to change how people look at this team, and if
you want more players to want to come here, treat
your own like you need to, and that is going
to spread through your locker room and and things like that.
Because again, like if I'm a young guy like Kneeland

(38:17):
and I see that Osa. They're different position groups. But
I see if Osa and work this tail, I've been consistent,
barely missed games, been healthy, been productive, and he has
to go through the ringer to get his.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Payday and what's look at them crazy?

Speaker 5 (38:31):
No, it's messaging matters as well, and it sets the
tone for your locker room.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
And it's not it's not changing the Dacks contract.

Speaker 9 (38:39):
You knew what the market was, Micah, you know what
the market is.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
You know you have to pay him now.

Speaker 9 (38:44):
Osa, I'll give a little grace because I think even
talking to you guys, okay, like, what do you think
it's a little between. It's a little bit in between.
So that makes a little bit more sense. But Micah,
there's no reason why we're still talking about that contract.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
We're gonna make our second break real fast. We were
back and more. Girls Talk boys Talk person It is
a line.

But I do yourself a favorite, go get you a
baked potato from records in Dallas. You said, infusion, Oh here,
what your guy is coming?

Speaker 7 (42:11):
What sister?

Speaker 3 (42:11):
What quarterback room.

Speaker 7 (42:14):
Has it was there?

Speaker 3 (42:16):
It was there.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
The infusion is there with like different abilities from each
quarterback that they have on the roster right now, Dak Prescott,
you know what the heck?

Speaker 8 (42:27):
Yeah, yeah, we got.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
We got what I tried. That's right, I tried. Anyways,
the Cowboys say they want to drive the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (42:36):
That obviously means that Trey Lance will no longer be
here in Dallas, which is crazy because they gave up
a fourth round pick for him.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
But we're not gonna talk about that.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
But I do want to talk about real fast before
we do have to go, is why do you guys
feel like Trey Lance wasn't a good fit?

Speaker 3 (42:52):
And I'll start with you just.

Speaker 8 (42:53):
To be honest, I just feel like the lack of
opportunity wasn't there for him to actually grow where it mattered,
which was game time reps. And I think this season
was potentially his greatest chance at getting those game time reps.

Speaker 3 (43:05):
Especially when Dak went out.

Speaker 8 (43:07):
Cowboys were out of playoff contention. There was a lot
of opportunity there for him. So for me, I'm just
going to give it to lack of opportunity. I don't
really think it's his lack of effort. I saw effort
being put in for him to grow and learn, literally
from his first day of being so behind and so
confused at how the quarterback drills work to him kind
of learning and growing, and I saw that whole progression,

(43:30):
even in just the small portions we had to practice.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
But to give up that fourth round pick just as tough.

Speaker 8 (43:36):
Some notable names coming from the fourth round Jake Ferguson,
Tyler Piottish, Tony Pollard, Dorn's Armstrong, Dalton Schultz, Ryan Switzer,
Dak Prescott so oh, you know only one right, however,
not that he coaches, Yeah, go ahead, everything, Well, I
just want to point out how significant that fourth round was.

(43:56):
You're right, and for what because guess who's also back
wildcare So.

Speaker 3 (44:01):
It's frustrating.

Speaker 8 (44:02):
But to wrap it up, I don't think it was
on Trey Lance's lack of effort. I really hope whatever
happens for him going forward, he gets the opportunity to
put more of that effort in wherever he happens.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
To go next.

Speaker 5 (44:17):
Yeah, I'm honestly mad at like the more that I
think about his career as a whole. To start, I'm
mad at everybody. Yep, I'm mad at everybody. I'm mad
at them for drafting him that Hi, I don't care
what anyone says. I'm sorry because I feel like from
the time he got in the league, the whole thing
has been.

Speaker 7 (44:35):
He hasn't played that much. He hasn't played that much.

Speaker 5 (44:36):
Ay, the NFL is not somewhere that you come to
learn how to play quarterback.

Speaker 7 (44:41):
It is not.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
No one has time for that in this league. Literally,
we hear them talk about with the NFLPA just a lot,
the limitations on practice, the limitations on how many how
much coaches can get their hands on.

Speaker 7 (44:54):
You as a player.

Speaker 5 (44:55):
He didn't. He never, to me, was in the position
to develop in the way that he needed to be
when he got in the league. Like he wasn't even
to me, he wasn't even a Jalen Hurts, and Jalen
Hurts went later because he had went to different teams
and people weren't too fond.

Speaker 7 (45:14):
Of his production. Whatever the case may be, he wasn't
even there.

Speaker 5 (45:16):
So for me, it's just like I think it's a
lesson learned for everybody in the league. And that's why
we're seeing even in this draft class quarterbacks, older quarterbacks
are starting to have value. People are okay with going
with the guy that's been in, that played college five years,
six years because they want the experience. So for me,
my heart goes out to him. I really feel for
him as a person and as a player because what

(45:39):
he was brought into was never like, it's not going
to serve you. No one in the NFL has time
to teach you how to be a quarterback. Can they
teach you how to be a better quarterback, yes, but
to be one absolutely not.

Speaker 7 (45:51):
Yeah, So empathize with him.

Speaker 5 (45:53):
I hope everything works out with him, and that's how
I feel.

Speaker 7 (45:57):
But I'm I'm mad at everybody.

Speaker 9 (45:59):
Yeah, I agree with literally everything you just said, because honestly,
I'm a barrier girl, right, So I'm keeping an eye
on the nineers of that time, and I was rooting
for him because it was a risk reward.

Speaker 7 (46:09):
It was a very much award.

Speaker 9 (46:10):
Twenty six games he started high school and college. If
you look at all the quarterbacks that came from that class,
the numbers are significant.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
That was Like you said, we remember the storylines. It
didn't work.

Speaker 9 (46:20):
So why the Cowboys decided to put all that faith
and give up a fourth round pick is beyond me.

Speaker 3 (46:26):
We know he's athletic, and I used to be like
what he did something else? Like I played the quarterback
like it's something.

Speaker 9 (46:32):
Else offensively because the boy is talented. But like you said,
this is the NFL. We don't got time opportunity. McCarthy
said that all the times more opportunity. This is not
the place where you get opportunities. So almost feel bad
for him because you saw the effort. I remember him
going in and they had packages and he had negative
three yards and came out for one play.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
How what am I doing?

Speaker 9 (46:50):
Like, how do I get better as a player if
that's what We're losing four games in a row and
I get a shot one play and I come out
because I make a mistake, Like I can't grow that way.
So I think he does make him he's young, Like
I said, he's athletic. He might make his way to
another roster, but it's not gonna be here, especially for
a quarterback who is injury prone.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
Dak Krestow has two season injury season, any injuries.

Speaker 9 (47:13):
I we don't know what he's gonna come back as
you need somebody who you could throw in there and
can keep the band aid and keep it afloat, and
it's not try lance for the team.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
We're going to dive into that quarterback position next week,
but we have got to go so on that note,
this has been a great show.

Speaker 6 (47:30):
Lad Time the way up, he go home, all right,
Brian Morris and Justin Mars, Brianna Aldrejohnclehadchison will be back
here next week.
