We got Brionna Aldridge as well in the studio or
missing Jess Navarez. Hopefully she feels better and can be

y'all feeling y'all good?

Speaker 5 (00:53):
Just welcome back, Welcome back, Good to see you at
the table.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Yes, y'all, you're remissed week, Big week, get to figure
out who our nuggets are going.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
To be Happy Draft week?

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Hellout, All the speculation can go away and we'll just
know for sure who's who and who's doing what. So
that's all yeah, yeah, rewarding.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
We got a chance to hear from the new head coach,
Brian Schottenheimer, Jerry Jones, Steven Jones, Will McLay as well,
and they had a lot of great things to say
from ranging from you know, kind of waying needs to
best player available, assessing the outside free agents, and how
they kind of feel confident heading into the draft.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
They also talked about the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Position and Jerry Jones made it clear Dak is the
guy straight like that the goal for the twelfth pick.
There were just so many topics, so many questions being asked,
but I want to hear from you two ladies of
just what do.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
You feel like.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
The biggest takeaway.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
From that press conference was I'll start with you, Bree,
Please go, Brie.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
It was a it was a lot to unpack.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
I will say sometimes I would hear a question and
I had more questions after the answer. I don't know
how you guys feel about that, but tidbit off what
you said the quarterback question. It's been so floating around,
so I was very like tuned in. I heard a
question I know started with Jane Slater and that one
kind of left me like, what did he just say?

Speaker 6 (02:13):
And then he kind of clarified it.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
When it was brought up again, and yes to your
what you just said, Nicole, Like he was pretty clear,
like we just invested a lot of dollars in Dak Prescott,
and unfortunately when you pay the top guy, injuries can happen,
and it we got the short end of that stick
for this season. And I think he was kind of touching,
kind of touching on that with the whole idea of

(02:37):
the Cowboys are late and they're behind, but he sees
it more as being careful and strategic because they just
showed you what happens when you pay top dollar and
what could happen on the other side. I did find
it interesting, though, I don't know about you guys, but
when I heard the QB question, I didn't cause I
know Jane had mentioned like, if Derrick Sanders is there
and just happens to fall to you or twelve, and

(02:58):
he obviously it was very like, it's very unlikely that
will make this big move because we had Dak. But
I didn't really hear him say that if you know
this great quarterback is there, that they wouldn't take it.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
If I don't know, did I take that differently?

Speaker 4 (03:13):
I mean, he talked about injuries. Yes, I think one
of the biggest takeaways to piggyback off a view is
they are cautious. Yeah, there's a lot of caution in
their tone when it comes to signing players and and
things like that and scared money, don't make no money.

(03:34):
But that's that's one of the biggest takeaways I took
from the whole the whole thing. You can finish your point, Pree.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
No, that's I just want to because I was like,
did I read that? But I think that's what it was.
What you just hit it right on the nose. Was
there being very cautious. I also, you know, we've talked
about it. They've made a lot more moves even though
they're not splashes in free agency, and Stephen was just,
you know, kind of stood on business with that.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
You know.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
I think he felt like, Okay, we did all these moves,
made a lot better moves.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
Credit to us for this season how we moved.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Now in the draft, we have a little bit more
breathing room or confidence when you're talking about best player
available rather than addressing maybe a need or dep or however.
So it sounds like they're going in pretty confident. And
then also the question about having I know in the
beginning the Schottenheimer Hier wasn't the sexy higher, but I

(04:28):
think now when we're talking about the draft, it's kind
of like, if we're looking at a positive, this is
someone who has a lot of familiarity and what this
team can do, especially when you're talking about the offense.
I know there's a couple of wide receivers that are
sitting there that could be available at twelve, and he
made it pretty clear like, hey, you know, speed is

(04:48):
what would be great, but that's not going to be
the determining factor. I know that's been a lot of
questions with some of the wide receivers, So I would
say some of my questions have been answered, but still,
like I said, some of the answers to the question
since just kind of felt like the run around, if
you will and you, just like I used to said, you.

Speaker 6 (05:04):
Don't know until you know.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
And I think you messaged me earlier this week and
you're like, I can't wait for Thursday to be over.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Yeah, I guess, yeah, I'm absolutely to answer your question.
Called so few of the things I wrote down is
it's that they really do think they can get an
impact player at twelve. That's important, whether that be personally
from what I am taking from what they're saying, and
then obviously like they try to say that, they basically

(05:30):
try to say that what they have done in free
agency and things like that with the offensive line has
nothing to do with what decision they're gonna make. I've
been very vocal about the fact that I think the
Cowboys need to go skial to start out. I mean
investing in a first round pick for an offensive lineman.
And that is a whole nother thing because how many

(05:54):
times did we hear it's the person.

Speaker 6 (05:57):
It's the player. You hear that a lot.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
It's the player. Yeah, we we can look at the talent,
but it's the player. I thought it was a little
subliminals in there.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
I think I personally thought that they were saying they
were saying some.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Stuff without saying some stuff about you can look at
the tape, you can look at all that stuff, but
they are trying to invest more moving forward and knowing
the person and if that player, and also too, do
they love football. I mean, it just was interesting to me.
And if we're being transparent, if we're being honest, here

(06:29):
your last two first round draft picks. That has been
a question unfortunately through their first couple of years. So
that was a big takeaway that I had. And then
obviously with the cornerback thing, we know that Stefan Gilmore
met with them or it was I don't know if
he's in the building today or if he was in
the building, and you ladies you know what. I just
know he was he was here. Okay, but what choed, Look,

(06:55):
I'm looking at the camera. He was strolling around the
Star right. Yeah, the training table is so good that
that that they, you know, are definitely looking at cornerback
as I believe it is a need.

Speaker 6 (07:10):
Yeah, it is.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
It's a serious need. Obviously, Kayln Carson coming back. We
heard them speed glowingly about him, but we still don't
know what he's gonna be. The no house guests and
being willing to tackle.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Hello, babe, we must be in Miami because it was
a lot of palm trees and stuff like. It was
a lot of shade, low key subliminal stuff and then
being able to have Lin Linten and play press and
things like that.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
So I took I took some like I took the caution.
I could hear the caution in them. I can hear
the assertiveness of wanting to make sure they know the
players better as people now like I feel like there's
more of an emphasis. They brought up n I L.
They brought up all the players getting paid and how
that ties into MIL talked about how that ties into

(07:57):
players hunger. It's I was in. It was interesting. Shout
out to David Moore. We appreciate you for what you
have done for the association and the team as well,
but beabe mix.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
It kind of goes back to out sorry subliminals, uh
and and the going back to the player that they
they want to be invested in the player as far
as these draft prospects. And it's something that Shoddy stood
out to me is what Shody said about how do
you and I believe it was Nick Harris's question about
how do you value traits over production and kind of

(08:37):
weighing that out, uh, and he had just said that,
you know, of course the game film is the number
one thing, uh and sometimes those forty times can be overlooked,
But it was it was something about the fact that
the traits of a player is something that.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
Is very crucial for guys like shoddy for Jerry go.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Ahead, my bady, you know I was, I was gonna
go ahead continue.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
That's something that that really stood out to me. Uh.
I love that Jerry Jones brought up the stories just
about how you know, when the thirty visits players came,
he had made sure that they called their moms and
their dads just to kind of see those type of
interactions to see again what type of player they're getting.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
So I thought that was pretty cool too. Yeah. Well,
and that goes back into how much do they love
this game and all of that stuff their commitment. But
to your point about the production, I remember two years
ago when I sat at the combine with Will McClay,
production is something that is very important to him and
as of late, Actually, when you look at the draft,

(09:36):
I think that actually Will McClay mentioned it is that
you see a lot more twenty three, twenty four year olds. Yeah,
these guys are coming out older. A lot of these
guys are opting to stay in college a little bit longer.
Also to COVID reset the whole way that things are
going as far as people's player's eligibility and things like that.
So we are seeing players come out older now and

(09:59):
for some position that is a good thing. I think
that quarterback is something that we see that people are
excited about when guys have a little bit more time linebacker,
stuff like that. But it's it's the production in comparison
to the trades. From Will McClay standpoint, I, from my understanding,
it's always been the production, because trades are fantastic, but

(10:20):
also to like have we in the NFL. You don't
got time, a whole bunch of time to wait and
see it, and unfortunately we are not as much of
a development league anymore.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Woul y'all think about Jerry and Steven just talking about
how much input the staff has had. I remember hearing
that where Jerry was speaking on shoddy and how he's
kind of made sure that these coaches, not that they
didn't want to be invested in the whole draft process
at all, but he's kind of made an emphasis of

(10:52):
making sure these coaches are kind of going to these schools,
talking to these guys and just really staying on top
of this process.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
What did y'all kind of gather from that?

Speaker 5 (11:03):
I would say, it's just I like how I think
for me, looking back, when I saw the higher I
was just like, how is this different?

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Right?

Speaker 5 (11:13):
This is I felt like I wanted like that splash,
exciting higher, But like I said, I think having that
familiarity shotting is coming in here and he knows what
he wants. He's built this staff, and I don't think
they're just blowing smoke saying what they're saying, like they're like,
this is gonna be different, and this is this different?

Speaker 6 (11:33):
Is Schottenheimer's way.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
We know he's a huge locker room guy and like
you had mentioned, that is a price.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
He set it over and over.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
He had to sit down with Bill Jones as well
when I was listening to pieces of it, and he
is all about character. And I know obviously you need
the skill, like Ayisha mentioned, they need to draft for
a skill, but you it doesn't matter.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
You can put a We've seen teams.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Be built with a lot of skills and they don't
go nowhere. And that's because what's in the locker room
and it matters, and injuries happen and now you need
someone else to step up. But how is someone going
to step up if there's that you know player, you
know they didn't play, So now you know what I'm
saying like, there's just like the character in the locker
room matters, and I think this locker room needs that

(12:18):
more than ever right now.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
Yeah, with Shaddy, I see not saying that it's different,
but I'll say that the emphasis to him is is
really making sure that everyone feels included and there's not misunderstanding.
I feel like last year there was times that there
was miscommunications and things like that. I think that they're

(12:41):
trying to mediate there being less miscommunication than being on
the same page. Obviously, Will McClay mentioned that the process
has been easier, especially with the draft process. As you
were mentioned Brie with Brian Schottenheimer already kind of being
in the building. But Brian Schottenheimer is a He's very
meticulous and he is very detailed. So I feel like

(13:03):
he's checking a lot of boxes. And I believe we
saw that in the hiring process, the coaching hiring process,
when you look at the gentleman that they brought in,
specifically on the offensive side, there is a cohesion when
you talk about emphasizing the run game, being creative in
the run game, emphasizing offensive line play, and that they

(13:25):
have a plan. So I'm just happy that there's some
level of a plan, and it seems like they're on
the same page. I mean, I know we talked about
the Mavericks and and some other random, uh miscellaneous topics.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
But what I took learned a lot I did what
he talked about j Z and how you know the
Holy five min tra with Des Bryant and how it was.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
A lot jay Z.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
So when he went about jay Z, he talking about
like like d jay Z get away jay Z.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Short.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
But that's what he was saying, and he got his
phone number.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
That part what it then, it's that on brand hold on.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
He was trying to tie in the fact that the
whole Michael Parsons contract thing and uh saying that he likes.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
To go to the source.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
He likes to deal with the players, because no, it's
not demeaning as far as not dealing with the agents
or attorneys. It's more so of the players are in
the building every single day. The agents are not in
the building every single day. Ye, so when guys are
missing meetings, when guys are not doing they're supposed to do,
you can't pick up the agent and say, hey, your
players not doing what he's supposed to do. Because that

(14:31):
ain't gonna hold no weight because he said jay Z
was nowhere to be found when it canadas Bryan's meeting screaming.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
All right. So but another thing too that I did
take away from the conversation when they started talking about
the Michael contract and all that stuff. First of all,
I say this with the most respect. Paying your quarterback
is not cap suicide.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
It's not.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
It's not. We've seen it done in the other for
other teams. I understand the sentiment and understanding the that
it does make a difference financially and how you have
to navigate things. Yes, maybe just get better and navigating.
I'm just I just don't think that that. I don't
like hearing that as a reason to be, you know,

(15:16):
cautious about free agency and things like that. It's that
is how teams are being built right now in the NFL,
and so it it was interesting. It was interesting. It's
they sound very cautious.

Speaker 6 (15:32):
They have a plan. I wish I knew what it was.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
The Micah thing stood out to me because we talked
about it so many times. At the end of the season,
They're not winning, and Mike is still like I want
to be here. I don't need to be a He
literally said, I quote, I do not need to be
a forty million dollar man at that time. Right. That's
that's a lot has changed in this offseason. People have
got big contracts. But the thing that stood out to

(15:55):
me was when Steven said, Micah has a number, we
have a number, and we're not there.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
And that was very clear to me.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
And that was probably the most clarity I've gotten on
the last couple of weeks. And you kind of ready knew, right,
the market has changed, and that's what happens when you wait.
Going back to caution, I know why the Cowboys, it
seems like they do what they do right, they don't
want to invest whatever. But my thing is when Steven
hadn't mentioned today, you know, you get about five or

(16:23):
six players that you pay top dollars, so we want
to be cautious on who we give it to because
you only get five or six players.

Speaker 6 (16:30):
That you can really pay top dollar and make. That's
what you're surrounding your team around.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Well, the issue I have is, you know, Michael Parsons
is this team.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
You know you have to.

Speaker 5 (16:41):
Pay them, so be as cautious as you want in
that you're just letting the price go up.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Yeah, And I think some of that comes from again
like when you talk about the five or six players,
who are the five or six players that the Cowboys
have paid top dollar two as of late. I would
say Terence still got paid after his A c O,
which was kind of weird, but do what you gotta do,
do what you gotta do. Pay Dak, he dealt with injury,

(17:09):
CD is dealing with some debt with some injuries last year,
played through them, still dealt with some injuries. Trayvon Diggs,
we don't even know we're gonna see him suit up again.
So it seems like they're kind of like waiting. It
doesn't make it doesn't correlate to me when it comes
to Micah, like you're saying, like it doesn't correlate to

(17:29):
me when it comes to Micah. But the caution that
they're having is it seems like, well, we don't want
to we're nervous to play pay players because what if
they get hurt? And that is football.

Speaker 6 (17:40):
Facts, that's the problem.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
That's that's not avoid it's not it's not something you
can avoid like you have to. And also too, we
have to remember that contracts are not for what players
do in the future. It is for what they have done.
So it doesn't make any sense to me with them
being like mentioning the injury. That was something that was
brought up multiple times today like all of the what

(18:03):
if this guy gets hurt, what this guy gets hurt,
what this guy gets hurt? People gonna get hurt, honey,
and they trying to push the season some more games
like that's something that's gonna happen. So how do you
supplement that with having depths? And that's kind of where
we are right now.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
I want to take a quick break, real quick, and
I want since we've thrown the thrown around the word cautious,
think about this question right here. Can the Cowboys afford
to be cautious with the twelfth overall pick in this drafts?

Speaker 4 (18:31):
We'll be right back with more Girls Talk, Boys Talk.

Lyrics absolutely, all right?

Speaker 11 (21:46):
All right, ladies.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Well we talked about, you know, a little We touched
on a little bit about just how the team feels
as far as heading into this draft. So far, they
feel confident because they have addressed a lot of needs
and off season with free agents. They've signed twelve outside
free agents, to the team.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
But uh, there's some.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Talks and reports about the possibility of trading back for
more draft capital. But as of right now, the Cowboys
have the twelfth pick in the draft. But y'all talked
about them being cautious earlier in this press conference, So
I do have to pose the question of can they
afford to be cautious in this draft when it comes
to this twelfth pick in the draft free.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
I guess I'll start and say, now, I think they
they need somebody whoever they take Denis that can make impact.
I want to right now, right right now, we don't
want to talk about I get my lingo one here.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
I don't talk about development.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
I mean, we know it's a part of the game,
but not developing to the point where they can't step
on the field and make impact players.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
So I know they got their boards, you know, I
think Steven mentioned the hardest part.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
Is, you know, sticking to your board, even when you
got that spicy name that's coming to stick to the
Cowboys board. You paying all these people to do this
all off season. Stick to your board and hopefully everybody
watching it can have confidence in that board.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
But yet they did the impact player like it's time
to win right now.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
Every other team in the division is getting their life
together and the Cowboys are just stagnant.

Speaker 6 (23:23):
And that's just the facts.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Yeah, they don't. They can't afford it also too, because
their last two drafts have not been the best when
it comes to production and immediate impact and things like that,
and they got and that's something you gotta be honest about.
I understand putting on a happy face and finger waving
and stuff, but at the same time, like I think
Jerry mentioned today, like, oh, you know, you were one

(23:45):
of the best drafting teams in the NFL. You are
we in the present because in the present, your last
two draft classes have given you very little. So it
does put a lot of pressure on you to go
into this draft and get immediate impact for your first, second, third,

(24:08):
and maybe your fourth round pick. And that's also too,
why fans have been so stressed about the lack of
movement and free agency and things like that, and the
way that they have attacked free agency, because you would
not have to do that if you didn't have so
many questions with the development or lack thereof from some

(24:28):
of the players that you have taken in the first, second,
and third round, and they even includes de Marion Overstown,
who is coming back from injury, who is a bona
fide star. I mean, from your first three rounds and
the last three draft picks, last two draft picks, you
have gotten very little production that has hurt you, and
it trickles down and now you're in this position. So

(24:50):
to answer your question, absolutely not.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
So then are you selecting the twelfth pick for best
or best player available or best player available or trading back?

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Sorry, it depends on what it looks like with the
quarterbacks in this draft. I think that's the thing about
draft day and that's why I hate my drafts. I'm sorry, y'all. Yeah,
I know you're y'all. That's y'all, jam Yeah. I can't
get jiggy to it. I cannot stand them because there
is no real way to know what's gonna happen on
that night and if there is an opportunity for some

(25:22):
trade backs. The Cowboys did lose. They don't have a
fourth round pick in this draft, and I think, as always,
the fourth round pick is very rich. It's very rich
this draft class with running back and there's gonna be
people there. Can you find an opportunity to try to
get something extra, whatever the case may be. They surprised

(25:43):
us last year with going and getting Cooper beebe whatever,
do somebody do something, So I hope that they are
adamant in what they see. But I think obviously the
quarterbacks are gonna have a lot to say about how
the board falls this year moving forward.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Yeah, I'm really interested this this this quarterback classes.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
It's it's it's it's not bad. It's not bad. I
don't think it's as bad as a class as what
people try to make it seem like. But it's just
it's not flashy in the way that some of these
other ones have been. I guess you want to say,
you said you would go running back twelfth pick? Did
I still still position? I don't care what it is.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
Okay, I don't care what it is. Do it cool
whatever you do?

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Skill position can you afford? Now there's conversation about them
possibly getting a corner that early. How do you ladies
feel about that? I wouldn't mind going cornerback.

Speaker 6 (26:39):
Then that early?

Speaker 4 (26:39):
You talk about just the depth of that position.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
You don't like you mentioned you don't know when Trayvon
Diggs is coming back. You got Kaylen Carson as of
right now, I'm an of course, but you have Kaye
Kayer Elam who they signed in the off season. You
don't really know what you're getting out of him, but
possibly if he's a new system, maybe he could get
he's a little.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Bit more production.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
But that cornerback room is.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
A little it's it's a little suspicious, but I doubt,
I doubt. I think when the Cowboys way, when I
think it's their offseason moves, is kind of their way
of putting a band aid on what they see.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
So I don't feel like the Corners.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
I think that's why they've gone so heavy with making
some signings from free agency when we're talking about the
old line room, because they don't I don't think they
want that to go.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
That's not what they want to invest in.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Early this year.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
In my eyes, it's a spicy offensive move. That's just
how I see.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
I pray it's a spicy offensive.

Speaker 6 (27:39):
That's just how I feel like they see what we see.
Last year. I've said it one too many times. It
was boring to watch.

Speaker 5 (27:46):
The offense was boring, and that's got to eat at Shadi,
who was here a part of that we don't know
how involved.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
We talk about that all the time, but it's got.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
To eat at you a little bit as you do.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
You feel like this whide receiver class or cornerback class
is a little bit more deeper where you can take
maybe more of a chance on selecting a cornerback in
the second third round.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
Yeah, that's where I would do it at. But then
why I receive forby I'm gonna need you to go
to the first. Okay, I'm gonna need you to go
to the first. Now, there are some gentlemen that I
think are gonna be there, like in the second, like
Jalen Royals and some of those gentlemen. But like, if
you have the opportunity, go get a guy that can
beat people against press and threaten the defense and open

(28:31):
up this offense. Lord, have mercy, like do something please.
And the thing is also too is I'm tired of
and the thing that that Jerry going back to the
press or you know, Jerry started talking about Sakuan and
you know what he's done for Philly, and he did
what a lot of people did and it kind of

(28:52):
attributed a lot of the success. Like yes, sa Quan's special,
but that offensive line is that it's that good also too,
But baby, a good running back will make an offensive
line look better than what they are as well. It
goes to me. It goes both ways. And also to scheme,
you got a guy and Clayton Adams in here that
can make something out of nothing. I always thought that

(29:14):
James Connor was a formidable running back, but with the
Cardinals in their play style and the way that they
were able to they were able to run the ball,
it gave him a level of explosion because of scheme.
I think it all ties into it. But don't tell
me noun a running back don't make an offensive line
look better than what it is in real life.

Speaker 11 (29:34):
That's fair.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Yeah, that's all the other I also want to ask
it since it's a hot topic for today. So if
I Gilmour being back at the building, if he were
to be back in Dallas, thoughts, what could he do
for this Roger, Thank you.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Jesus, hallelujah. He should have never let Adam Chefs already
shut that down though, Yeah, he already shut it down. Yeah,
we know with respect. They literally love like I feel
like every time we get there's like a little wind
of a player. Maybe like all the media be like
to get a snack, it's gonna it's gonna be enough

(30:05):
for me.

Speaker 11 (30:06):
Dog.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
I think it would be very wise of the Cowboys
to get him back in here. Obviously he's a little still,
he's still aging, but he's interested in me because he
like he seemed like Curry to me, Like he just
it's not killing him. Aging is not changing his play.
He had one of his best years again with Minnesota
last year. Like, clearly this is someone invests him and
invest in his body. He's reliable. He had the injury

(30:29):
at the end of the season, you know, the in
the playoffs. But I don't know I would do it
because you need depth and you need mentorship in that room.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Ain't nobody Thron's the oldest one in that No, it's
probably Kye. Yeah, and he's still trying to figure out himself.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
He's still figuring out things.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
That's the crazy part when you mentioned it earlier, Like
Kaye is twenty four years old, right, but so can
some of these people come straight out of the draft.

Speaker 6 (30:55):
I think that's what makes the draft so interesting.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
It's different. Yeah, I'm please just do it, y'all. He
probably only gonna want like five dollars in a hamburger, Like,
just sign him?

Speaker 6 (31:09):
What is the five dollars of a hamburger is crazy?

Speaker 4 (31:13):
But you know, actually, you know it ain't got expensive
out here. You tracks in these days days it's worth it.
It's worth it. But but I but in regard to
Stefan Gidmore too, I know that we see this often,
is that a lot of the older free agent veterans
will wait until training camps or the end or whatever.

(31:36):
So maybe when he was in here, he was getting
a snacky and being like, y'all gonna call me, I'm
just gonna wait, make sure my phone ain't on D
and D boss.

Speaker 6 (31:46):
Since the.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
All right, I'm stopped.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
All right, we're gonna grostock Boys Stock would be more
draft talk coming up right after the break.

I want to pose the question, do you keys.

Speaker 11 (35:01):
You're stupid?

Speaker 4 (35:02):
All right?

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Who could be on the hot seat player wise on
this roster if a young draft pick comes in and
it's hot and ready.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
To work, girl, nothing hot ready?

Speaker 4 (35:19):
I got out to just for this hot little season.

Speaker 6 (35:24):
I love Little Caesars. Sorry the new yes, I do.
There's like three of them in there. It's disrespectful.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
But back to the question, I don't even know if
this has to do specifically with the draft because I
don't know if the Cowboys will go this way. I've
covered another team where it did go this way.

Speaker 6 (35:43):
It was very shocking.

Speaker 5 (35:46):
But person I think is in the hot seat is
Jake Ferguson. Like he's playing on the last year of
his contract. He's coming off a not so great year.
I know he was injured for a lot of that
looks like he was playing through injury. But that was
somebody going into this season that a lot of people
were hyped up about because of the production he had
the season before, and it wasn't there.

Speaker 6 (36:07):
He's got some guys behind him.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
I don't we know the Cowboys don't like to pay
top dollar, and I just think if somebody steps up.
I don't know if Fergie Delicious, one of my favorites,
is somebody who's gonna disappear, and interesting that.

Speaker 6 (36:28):
I would think Lunda would fight for that one.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
That's interesting. I will say, we do have to take
into account Jake Ferguson's injuries also take into account this
This goes into the overall production of the the offense
as as it's it's formulated. Do you have not had
a two tight end that can take any pressure off
of him. That can that that you know, dictates, that

(36:54):
dictates a defense at all, That can that can sit
in twelve personnel and really be a threat, like you
haven't had another threat like that. I know we did
see Schoolmaker have some improvements. That's who I think need
to be school looking over his shoulder. Yeah, that's who
I think needs to be paying attention to what's going on.
Because prior to John Stevens even getting injured, we were

(37:16):
sitting up here thinking that John Stevens might be the general,
the gentleman that comes in as the to tight end
as well. This tight end class has some guys in
the middle rounds that I wouldn't mind, like like Luke
Lakey out of Iowa a six six. We already know
how Iowa tight ends. Get down with the get down listen,

(37:37):
I would say it would be personally, I think it
would be more Schoolmaker than Ferguson, despite the fact that
Ferguson has dealt with some injuries. And then I would
say I'm trying to think, Uh, I guess maybe I
don't want to go I don't want to take nobody off.
I guess I would say also to maybe Jaalen Toper.

Speaker 6 (38:00):
It's gonna be my second Yea.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
As much as I think that Jalen Tobert is gonna
be comfortable in shoddy system, I do think he is
going to continue. I believe he is also in a
weird position because of Turpin, because if they decide to
have Turpin as more of a you know, Swiss army
knife and this Clayton Adams offense, then that is does

(38:25):
does he become the two? And then with a lot
of these receivers as well, you get a receiver and
maybe if you decide if they go if they double
different receiver. Most receivers coming out have return ability. Now,
Doug and I understand they just paid Turpin, but they
they're also looking at him, and they said that they're
looking at him to take a step as a wide receiver.
So kind of to me puts puts Tobart in a

(38:49):
weird place too, where he's really gonna have to step
up this year. I think mine would be.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
And I hate to say this because of just his
story coming out of the draft, A mine's gonna to
reduce fawn and which is unfortunate just because he hasn't
been able to see the field a lot I mean,
he's had Hella talent in front of him.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Rico o'dowdell.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Of course last year, even Zeke Hunter Lipke stepping up,
and now with adding two outside free agents and Javonte
Williams and Miles Sanders, that's a problem.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
But the Miles Sanders thing, that's what immediately. They have
a lot of similarities in their style and that's that's
that stood out to me immediately as well. So I
would agree with you as well as that. I think
that Ducevawan is in a weird place as as well.
But if we're keeping it one hundred thousand and fifty million,
like they didn't rule out I hate it. Who I

(39:45):
want to throw up? You're gonna they didn't rule out
offensive line, Yeah, the door and I know and I
and again like I don't think quite honestly, we saw
Duke Manuwether, who works very closely with a lot of

(40:05):
players on the team. He very blatantly said on Twitter
this week someone asked him directly, how do you feel
about Tyler Guidan's development? What do you think he's gonna
bring to the table this year? And he said, heyo,
that's up to him. That's up to him, and and
that is a different tune than what Duke has typically
spoke about him. He has faith in him, confidence in him,

(40:26):
he works with him. But do the Cowboys feel convicted
by you know, what they've seen from him so far?
How long is it gonna take for us to see
if he has improved in that position? Like, I want
to be patient with him. I think development is important.
I don't want to just give up on him. But

(40:46):
if they take a tackle, that's at messsary. That's a
message right there. If they take a tackle, it would
be not a tiny bit. And that could be too
because I think Terrence Steele they look at him different
with Clayton Adams system. Clayton Adams system wants an athletic,
get up the field type guy less, it's not super

(41:07):
duper power power power power, So to Terrence Steele is
maybe like a really good fit. I think we'll see
him succeed with this that left tackle position. If they
pick up a tackle at any point in this draft
is gonna be kind of weird to me, especially since
they've invested in the free agency as well. So who
you got another one? The other one?

Speaker 3 (41:27):
I was gonna say, but I don't really know how
to feel about this one, only because they lack in
depth with this position.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
I was gonna go Mazi, I forgot.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
About I say this just because of the slow development that.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
So you ain't saying nothing in the sister the way
this defensive class, defensive tackle class is.

Speaker 3 (41:54):
Yeah, if they don't see it from him, it could
and they need something out of him this year, especial
with Ebrofus scheme.

Speaker 4 (42:02):
So it's it's necessary, it has to happen. And walteron
Nolan is a gentleman at an old miss that has
been there's been a little you know, just about that
time you start hearing a little whispers a little unit.
Walter Nolan is a guy that I think the Cowboys
are interested in that that could get a little funky too,
that your little get a little funky too. I want

(42:25):
Marshaw Kneeland better come to play as well. I know
he came off of injury last year, but we need
sign Yeah, we need him to come to come on
with it as well. I think he's gonna be alright though.
I think he's gonna be alright as well.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
I'm gonna press I just hope and I think the
wide receiving room is you know, I saw a lot
of Maybes and talent in Oxnart and when we got
to the start faded away.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
That's just the fact fact what you.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Said earlier, it was you thought it was Miami here
with all the palm trees.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
This is just a lot of is getting some.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
But it's draft week. I'm gonna be positive. I'm gonna
remain positive.

Speaker 4 (43:04):
It's a new way. Wait wait wait wait wait wait
what about the safety room.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Yeah, well they resigned Belle Marquise Bell, the sign of them.

Speaker 6 (43:16):
Yeah, you got Donald.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
Wilson, Malie Cooker.

Speaker 6 (43:19):
I mean that's a good that's a good group right there.

Speaker 4 (43:20):
Dang, I wish somebody would have axed Tater Tots. I
should have text you because I do want to know
how this staff views is real mccuamo, because if they
view Israel mccuamo as a corner as he was drafted,
then maybe maybe that maybe Stefan Gilmour isn't in the
somebody that they want. Maybe they don't feel as stressed

(43:42):
about corner because they believe that Israel can play corner.
We've seen him play corner. I believe he's a boundary corner.
That's what he was in college, that's what he does.
I want to know what this staff feels like about him,
because I think that will tell us also to it'll
give us a little bit more certainty about the depths.
And I'm saying depths because in the cornerback room right now. Yeah,

(44:03):
all right, Lord, have mercy. This has been great.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
We got about what's today Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, less than
forty eight hours.

Speaker 4 (44:10):
Let's do a little over. Two more sleeps.

Speaker 6 (44:12):
I gotta go bed two more times.

Speaker 4 (44:13):
Yes, okay, two more sleeps, and then we're gonna have
a nugget till the two nuggets.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
Till the twenty twenty five NFL Draft. But for girls talk,
boys talk, we're gonna sign off because we'll be back
here next week for night. Nicole Hutchison, Aisha Morrison, Brianna Altriche.

Speaker 4 (44:28):
And Justina Bras, who is out for the day.

Speaker 6 (44:30):
We'll see y'all back next year, next night.

Speaker 4 (44:32):
In our jazzy, in our jazzy.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
Oh wait, well wait, don't head out yet, because our
very own producer, Jasmine Marshall, who's been amazing here for
all her times in Dallas. I wish you could come
back or can she show her herself?

Speaker 4 (44:47):
Can we not do that? Beam comes on camera STUF,
so I think I see Beam doing all right too.
That's crazy. I love you, but they love your girl
and we love her.

Speaker 3 (44:55):
She's been here, she's been phenomenal, phenomenal producer, phenomenal person,
a little friend. So best of luck to you girl.
Hopefully you have much success. All right, sad day probable,
We'll see you'll back here next week.
