It'son alongside Brianna Aldrige, Christy Scales, Aisham Morrison. Ladies, Good morning,
Good morning.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Mike's be loud now.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Are y'all okay? Are y'all?

Speaker 6 (01:01):
Are y'all?

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Are y'all tired?

Speaker 7 (01:02):
No, we're preparing for the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (01:06):
That's a great week.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
It's actually, I don't know, it's like a sad week
too though, you know. It's fifty three man roster cut
down finalize today at three pm Eastern time, sorry, Central Time,
and just a lot of movement will be happening over
the course of the next couple of hours. So far,
there is a list we'll just kind of break down
those guys and just we'll play roster, practice, squad or

(01:31):
cut for guys who they have some tough decisions to make,
and a lot more on the show today, but just
a quick update on the guys the Cowboys have cut
is Denzel Daxton, Troy Pride, Tyler Neville, Nick Broker, Josh Kelly,
John Stevens, Lyle Collins, Christian Matthew uh and then as
of today they put they released I'm Sorry Wave, Trey

(01:52):
Shawn Holden, and yesterday they also moved Phil MafA to
I are just ladies. Thoughts on so far that cuts
the Cowboy have made.

Speaker 9 (02:01):
I don't think I know that tray Shon Holden. He
caught a lot of traction with fans and media as
training camp went on. But one thing we need to
clarify is there's a big difference between release and waiver.
So a guy like Treyshon Holden is a rookie if
you're four years or less in the league. If you
are not a vested veteran, you get waived, which means

(02:22):
that you're exposed to waivers. So thirty one other teams
can claim tray Shawn Holden. If he goes unclaimed, then
the Cowboys, I know that they would desperately want to
sign him to the practice squad. But I think with Trayshawon,
no matter how well he played in training camp, it
was going to be hard for him to get into
that top six or top five because he doesn't have

(02:45):
the special team's experience and be able to go in
and on game one and contribute on special teams the
way that Jalen Brooks and or Ryan Flinoy can and
so I think that that's what hurt him.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Yeah, I agree, I'm sure that's the biggest difference.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
And you know, as Nicole said, this is it's a
delicate time for guys. I know that we're interested in
team building and things like that, but it is important
to remember that some guys they've played their last down
in football in preseason this week.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
So empathy is your friend.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
But in regard to Tree Shawn Holden, I do think,
I do think. I know that I know that fans
often be like, oh, I'm afraid that this guy's gonna
get picked up. I do believe that he has a
little bit more interest than what people think. I think
because some of the behavioral things, and that's stacked room
in Oregon. He fell in this draft. I think him
being with the Cowboys for six months, an NFL team

(03:38):
being able to call over here and be like, hey,
how's he been, how's he been in practices? Him building
some rapport and stuff like that will be beneficial to
him on the waiver wire. So hoping they get him back,
but if they don't, Ryan f Illinoy and Jalen Brooks
have been impressive in preseason as well, so I know
that decision is gonna be tough as well.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
Between those guys. Any other surprises see all on that list.

Speaker 7 (03:58):
I was gonna say that I don't all the names
on there like nobody's like a surprise. I think, like
you guys touched on it. The wide receiver rooms, we
talked about wish we could keep all these guys, and
we were having trouble like would we keep five? We
we keep six, and it you know, it fluctuates on
what they have to do on some other needs as well.
I think it's going to get interesting when you're looking
at of Flinoy and looking at Brooks, because if you
would have asked me maybe two and a half weeks ago,

(04:20):
I would have been all in on Brooks and then
Flinoy just really wouldn't go away, and he's made some
splash plays and like Christy was mentioning the importance of
special teams, I think got that surprised me is how
well or how much he's been able to pick that up.
So it's like, who do you want to take your
chances when you do talking about waivers, because I think
any other team right now find interest in those guys
and tray Shon Holden as well, like unfortunately, so that

(04:43):
group was so stacked when we started it kind of
you know, I've heard Brian Schoenheimer say so many good
things about Holden, Like Chrissy mentioned, he became kind of
a favorite out there, like a little underdog story, and
we know there's some familiarity there with the wide receivers
coach going back to his organ days. But but yeah,

(05:04):
nothing is surprised, and it's just gonna get tougher from here. Honestly,
they have a with the I think the injuries with
certain other groups is going to really influence who you
would like to keep and who do you'd like to stay.
But yeah, injuries is the name of the game right now.
I think going to really impact with three looks.

Speaker 9 (05:18):
Like Mingo, you know, opened up a spot for brook
Sanders and off as well. You know that's open to
another spot. Does that mean they're going to keep Miles Sanders?
What does it mean for docing on? But in regards
to special teams with Illinoy, I talked with c J. Goodwin,
who is the ace of special teams and he's the

(05:38):
go to guy. Go talk to him. I always make
a point early in the season and training camp, all right,
who do we need to keep our eye on? And
he told me that before the final preseason game Friday
night versus Atlanta, that they were going to give Florinoy
a longer look at gunner because they Jalen Brooks and
c J. Goodwin have been gunners for this team and

(06:01):
they wanted to give Ryan a longer look. By the way,
had a nice conversation with Ryan. Did you guys know
that his wife is is taking ministry classes, seminary classes Nate.

Speaker 7 (06:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (06:13):
A really nice young man and very nice family. So
good for him if he's able to survive these cuts.

Speaker 10 (06:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
And another thing to point out is with you know
Phil maffa shoulder injury out of practice yesterday from you know,
the opening period where media could see he It depends
on if they move him to season ending I are
or design designation to return. But I do believe Christy
correct me if I'm wrong. They can only do two
guys like designation designation to return. So a lot of

(06:42):
decisions to make there, because you got guys like Kaitlyn
Carson who that cornerback room, depending on Traymond Diggs is
healthy to you know, play week one.

Speaker 8 (06:52):
We'll talk about that as well on the show.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
You also got Jhonathmingo who is out for quite some
time as well. So just there's a lot of it's
a lot of decisions to make there. But we're gonna
play a little game instead of start bench cut right,
it's a little remix roster. Who makes the roster, who
makes the practice squad? Who you could all right, already,

(07:14):
all right, barnacles game.

Speaker 9 (07:16):
I don't want that responsibility, don't have too No, I'm
not I'm ready.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
What Chris said, That's why.

Speaker 8 (07:24):
He was like, you gotta know, and I'm like.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
I just don't have enough information.

Speaker 9 (07:29):
It's like when I judge the cheerleaders. You know, there
are thirty six that make it about forty four forty
five get invited to training camp. They're like, Christy, you
can't have sixty five uses. So I'm like, so I
can just like wanting to.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
Be Yeah, can I update really quick?

Speaker 6 (07:43):
Archer just reported that the Cowboys are placing d N
Peyton Turner on injured reserve designated to return with broken
ribs Tater tied.

Speaker 8 (07:51):
Oh guy.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
He'd been dealing with the rip issue since first the
first preseason game, and it became worse US Atlanta. He
will miss the first four games. Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo
Nie will also be.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
On I are wow, that's your two guys.

Speaker 8 (08:08):
I would that was a question mark.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
What does that mean for m HM then?

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Because he's got to be either season ending injury or
he makes the roster right and I don't see I.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
Don't see a reason why.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
And even when you start getting into that cornerback room,
I think that there. I know that people are up
and down seeing that Israel mccwambill play so late into
the game in this last preseason game. But when you
start talking about I mean to me, out of the
two of those guys, I think is he has the
more versatility and he's shown more in games so far
in his career, and then also to a guy like

(08:40):
Zion Childress who splashed and has made some and I
think the Cowboys would like to develop him and see
what else he has in attained.

Speaker 9 (08:47):
Came on what about?

Speaker 5 (08:49):
Yeah, I mean that's a that's another thing that's going
to be down the pipe.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
But I want I wonder what they decide there.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
It stressed me out, but I think I think Diggs,
Diggs and so something and things being shaken up a
little bit.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
We're still no uncertainty, but some the fact that he
is back as early as he is and at least
practicing and being active, I think that does shake up
this room and very much. You're going to fall initially.

Speaker 7 (09:12):
Because it seems like he's come again. Nothing definitive, but
it seems like he'll be. He's pushing to be back
in those earlier weeks. So they're just maybe trying to
stay afloat because now now you're able to look at
a room and build with your number one cornerback in
the mix, like you said, so vand aid.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
On there, I'm screaming, all right, ladies, let's let's get
back to it all right real fast. I'm gonna go.

Speaker 8 (09:39):
Slaying a game I forgot.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Yeah, sorry, all good. Let's go with Princeton fant ooh
tater top roster practice squad cut. I know you're welcome.
That's what I'm here for.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
I'm gonna go practice squad and I'm only gonna go
practice squad because I do think that a lot of
what he do in kind of that h back form
with like tight end running back field, what he can
do in the blocking game, special teams.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
I do think that if you were to.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
If you were to lose Lippy or anything, I think
he could fill in and fill that role. Well, but
I do think uh Rivaldo shows some things, fair Weather
has shown some things in the passing game, also in
the blocking game, and so Barnacles, well, I think that
that's the comp to me. Sorry, sorry, but I would
say practice squad right now because I think he has

(10:30):
some value later on if you need him.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Let's actually say, let's start talk Rivaldo and Prinson fan together.

Speaker 8 (10:37):
Let's let's do that.

Speaker 9 (10:39):
Okay, So yeah, okay, fant is practice squad and elevated
the first three weeks, and then it'll fall out after
that because the attrition will you decide whether he gets
moved up to the fifty three man and Rivaldo. His
nickname is touchdown Valdo, by the way, after the first yeah,

(11:02):
well well so he caught the touchdown pass in the
first preseason game in l A. Right, so the media
we go into the locker room afterwards and the entry,
I mean, it just happens to be right where the
tight ends are, and Jake and all them are like, oh,
y'all come in to interview touchdown Valdo.

Speaker 8 (11:19):
You're like, touchdown Valdo.

Speaker 9 (11:21):
So uh of for Valdo. I'm going to go with
practice squad as well.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
Okay, yeah, I like them both.

Speaker 9 (11:30):
I think I think that they wave him he can
slide through and that he'll be practice squad like you.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
Yeah, I agree with Christy all last part. I think
that's someone you're not worried about being picked up. So
if you keep on the practice squad like you said,
he flashed, but I think with the group there's just
too much there. And then Princeton fant same thing that
Ayesha was saying. When I'm looking at what the room has,

(11:57):
I mean, at the end of the day, that room
had them injuries. Last year, you got one guy who
started a training camp on a boot, so I think
if you can keep on the practice squad to do
that as well, because he does bring certain versatilities and
just again kind of buried in the group right now
is when they're healthy.

Speaker 6 (12:12):
And Brevin coming back to practice yesterday's a huge big
change that room. Yeah, these injuries, getting some of these
guys back is shifting guys down the roster now.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
So it's just is wet it.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Is, y'all know, it's funny. This is a sign note
before we get to the next one. Would have got
a tight he showed, He showed god type the build
like the way they carry them to They're literally all
the same. And that's why it's just so funny, like
seeing you know, the type of guys in that room
that I just wanted to make sure I do that
out there.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
There's a versative do you do you think that it's
versatile enough? And that's what I'm asking because that would
That's something that I thought about with Valdo Infant as well,
is the fact that there's you have the receiving type
tight ends and then you have the guys that are blocking,
and then you have a few guys that are kind
of that hybrid. I think that they have some balance
in those top three and then the other guys that
we've been talking about it. Yeah, Ravaldo and Fant are

(13:05):
guys that if needed, if they needed to.

Speaker 5 (13:07):
Elevate, you wouldn't have to switch a whole bunch of.

Speaker 6 (13:09):
Stuff because some of the skill set is versatile, If
that makes sense you great.

Speaker 9 (13:13):
You made a great point about Fan with lip key
because he can do a lot of the same thing.
So because if something were to happen to Hunter and
him go out and you didn't have a guy like Fant,
if you can trust to recognize and do all those things,
he gets a lot of work like Hunter does in
practice in some of those different roles.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
And something with Fant is that you know, he told
me he's one thing was a point of emphasis for
him was his route running and his catching ability. You
saw him kind of get some first team reps. It
was an open practice, I believe it was Wednesday, just
you know, getting that trust with you know, Dak if
there are opportunities. So I think he's definitely grown in
that area for sure as well to kind of like

(13:53):
balance that tight end room in the skill set. So
let's go to the running back room. I'm gonna go
do spine. Are y'all rostering him practice squad cut?

Speaker 5 (14:04):
I think it's uh.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
I think they could get him back on the practice squad,
But I do think, just given how the room is.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Looking, Emily David Sorr, I'm both of them out there,
Emily Davis, I don't. I think those are both guys
that maybe you would try to get back on the
practice squad, but I don't think that they make the
roster at this plasphere.

Speaker 9 (14:30):
Yeah, I'm with Aysha, Yeah, and you hate that for
for Java a fan favorite and played really well on
Friday Night, really did, and then afterwards in the locker room,
just offering such a great perspective, he was asked, you
know what if you know, what's it like during cuts
and what if? And he's like, you know, going on
three years, what a blessing this has been, and you know,

(14:53):
hopes it can continue. But I mean, if if you
cut him, I can see someone like an Andy Reid
or something like that having some fun things for a
guy with his kind of skill set. So I hope
that he would be able to slide through when the
Cowboys would bring him back, because when you talk about
the right kind of guy that you want in the
locker room, He's definitely one of them.

Speaker 8 (15:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (15:14):
I remember talking to Duce after his preseason we're on
the road somewhere, when he did very well and unfortunately,
like Christy said, he did have a good game in
Game three. But I feel like this is kind of
the same story that he's had where he shines in
the preseason, and not to say it's strictly his faut.
Don't think he was always utilized correctly with what his

(15:35):
skill set is, unfortunately, but now when you have other
guys in here, some rickies who are figuring it out
or looking like they're figuring out a little bit faster,
and ironically, I think I shared this with you guys.
I was talking to Duce's agent and who was just
happened to be at the game and we kind of
communicate covers a few other guys, but he was just like, man,

(15:57):
I just hope, you know, Duce gets those opportunities, and.

Speaker 8 (16:00):
Da da da, and how it was quiet here a
moment ago.

Speaker 7 (16:02):
That's kind of how my reaction was, because it was like,
you know, like everything Chrissy said, this is.

Speaker 8 (16:07):
Someone you want in your locker room. He doesn't give
up and he could have.

Speaker 7 (16:11):
It was pretty rough last year for the whole running
back group. But I was just like, I was like, yeah, like,
you know, hopefully he can. But I in my head,
I'm like, I don't even know if that all the
opportunities can do it. I think he has to do
something amazing because you have the film office, which obviously
them putting you know, his injury or what have you,
but obviously they're looking at him differently. You have Malik Davis,

(16:31):
who's on the couch a couple of weeks ago, come in.

Speaker 9 (16:33):
And kind of, you know, my greatest hit of the presepts.

Speaker 7 (16:38):
Like I hope, I hope Malik is someone who they
can keep on the practice squad because he's proven if
someone goes down, he can come in there and.

Speaker 8 (16:46):
Make some type of impact.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
But I just think having a guy like Jayden Blue
now in the mix, they clearly have Jamonte Williams in
a bubble wrap ready to make him Harvey one.

Speaker 8 (16:56):
So you hope that works out or what have you.

Speaker 7 (16:58):
But I just think even if it doesn't, I just
don't see a spot for douce On and maybe he's
you know, tired of maybe there's somebody else who can
utilize him a little bit better, and maybe he doesn't,
you know, like I said, might be fighting for to
get a fresh start.

Speaker 8 (17:13):
It's it's happened for other teams, other guys.

Speaker 7 (17:15):
That we got in other position groups who are flashing
here and didn't have a great, you know start, And
maybe that's Deuce's story somewhere else.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
So all right, let's move to the offensive line.

Speaker 9 (17:24):
Nicole, you're not giving Europe.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
I'm sorry. I know. I'm trying to go quick because
it's so many humans. Yeah, no, I'm sorry. I'm just
trying to move quick because we got.

Speaker 7 (17:34):
A whole bunch of other stuff to hit going on now.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
Show breaking down fifty three roster didn't even get to
finish last week, So I'm sorry, I'm sorry. All right,
offensive line, Johnny Cornelius, Cornelius, Sorry, Cidek, Charles, they've already released,
like Collins, They've already released, so waved. I'm sorry. Nick Broker,
Uh so yeah, I'm gonna go Johnny Cornelius, Citek Charles,

(18:00):
Uh huh. Darren Christian yep, which ones are you rostrating?
Practice squad?

Speaker 6 (18:06):
Could I think you keep for new this I think
he showed some good things in practice. I've noticed the
more I want to say in the games that I
didn't practice when I was president at training camp, like
his feet, like he's how he's able to bounce to
the outside, he can leave block pretty well.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
He has some power behind his pads.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
And obviously the Cowboys decider I picked this is someone
that they want to develop. But I do think he
showed some poise as a tackle at that right at
that right tackle position, and I do think that's a
position that's been malnourished for a while. As far as
Sadi Charles, how do you, I want to say, is
I dentergy?

Speaker 5 (18:45):
I will say he.

Speaker 6 (18:46):
I know he has some swing value and I also
know that again he has manned that right side and
it hasn't looked crazy when when they were with the twos.
And so I do think that's a gentleman that out
of those veteran guys that you signed, is someone that
I'm a little bit more interested in keeping over Charles
at this point, I know Sadik had an injury also

(19:07):
to through camp. And then the last man, the last
gentleman was was it Broker Noman.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Believe that's all I said.

Speaker 8 (19:18):
Yeah, it was Christian.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Christian, you're Christian? I'm sorry, No, yeah, no, all right, cool, No,
I can't see. That's why I like it's practice squad
roster cut.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Yeah, I bet him.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 9 (19:35):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
I think you guys, I think they're gonna run with
ten and call the day.

Speaker 9 (19:40):
I'm worried that best. I'm worried they may go nine.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Nine.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
I think what we said nine last.

Speaker 9 (19:45):
Week, I think so well.

Speaker 8 (19:46):
I've been hearing that.

Speaker 9 (19:47):
I think you're gonna have to go along on the
defensive line because with Micah, even if Micah is signed
today or if he's signed next week, do you do
you expect him to go out and do forty five
plays now? So I think you're going to have to
go long on the line, and that bodes well for

(20:08):
like the James Houstons of the world. Right, So, I
think you may have to go short on offensive line,
or you may only go five wide receivers and hope
that you can slide Jalen Brooks through.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
That's lad though.

Speaker 9 (20:22):
I look so last week, excuse me, last year in
the opener, Micah had sixty nine plays. That's a ton.
The next week he had forty four. But let's say
there's normally about sixty five plays in a game. I
don't think it's reasonable to have even if he gets
some practices in, even if Trayvon gets practices in in

(20:45):
place that you would have them do, certainly not Trayvon,
But I can't imagine more than like twenty five plays.
So you have to go You have to go long,
which means you have to go short elsewhere, and it
may be offensive line. I say yes to a Dentergy
because he can be your swing Cornelius. I think they

(21:05):
can slide him through and get him to practice squad.
They're going to have to take that chance. Christian no,
and Sadiq Charles No, because you've got on the interior
with TJ. Bass brock Hoffman. You've got guys who can
be backup guards. And what about Awesome Richards. I think
Awsome Richards is on the bubble here and I would

(21:27):
have had him as one of my ten or nine
going into this season. But when he got leapfrogged by
Nate Thomas, you know, so it's it's going to be
really interesting on this offensive line. Thomas bass Hoffman.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
I got to listen.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
But with the y'all saying, I think I do agree
with you that you probably can sneak.

Speaker 9 (21:49):
I'm not advocating either way. I'm just saying I think
the reality is it may be nine.

Speaker 7 (21:55):
No, I agree one of those groups is gonna be
shorthanded because of how contract situations barcles.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
That's just how that's fired.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
Yeah, that's the frustration of it all. It's not nobody
believing Mike is not gonna be ready. It's just you know,
it's the facts. But out of out of everybody, just
keep it brief. Fund Gole, I know you didn't kind of,
but I agree with it what both of them said.
Corneliaus I picked just because I feel like anytime you
have a guy that you invested in the draft, you're

(22:24):
gonna that he has the upper hand of some of
these other veterans that came in. And unless the other
veterans come in and really shine, then I don't I
don't see it.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
You know, the names like if I have to go
look like who and see what they did?

I just want y'all know.

Speaker 6 (25:39):
Next week on'sn't hit me that football is coming and
my mind start feeling football ishlive your body.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
No, no, I'm serious, like you, that's a raven things.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
But no, no, no, y'all, like football's is here, there's
just nothing like it. I can't wait and it's gonna
start smelling like pumpkin spies, and especially.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
At twenty six. I think pumpkin spices on the mined
side today.

Speaker 9 (26:04):
Oh really wow?

Speaker 8 (26:06):
That's yeah, earlier and earlier, a little hop fort Texas.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Let's get back to it all right, Defensive line, because
Christy was making a really good point about just playing
like a Parsons. If they do sign them today, they
sign them tomorrow, if they sign him next week, if
they sign him next month. Realistically, the amount of snaps
that he's playing or he possibly will play, should not
be that much. But we also don't know. So just
where do you feel like the personnel with the D

(26:32):
line is and who would you roster, who would you
practice squad? Who would you cut? Christian mus start.

Speaker 9 (26:37):
With you, Well, I tell you the ones that the
biggest surprises of camp and preseason or Perryon Winfrey and
James Houston. So the fact that Peyton Turner I are
designated to return surprises me a bit. We didn't get
to see all of them, all of what he can do,

(26:57):
even though he played in those games, just because the
injury did come so early in that with that first
preseason game that literally every play after that, he'd be
you know, the next couple of games, he'd be kind
of hunched over and stuff. I mean, so I admire
him for playing through what is among the most painful
injuries you can have. But yeah, I think I think Houston.

(27:20):
I think Houston and Winfrey have done enough to make
this team. So how are you doing?

Speaker 8 (27:24):
Yeah, you can I.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Practice squad.

Speaker 9 (27:30):
I don't know that. I don't know that you can
get him through. That's the issue though, because.

Speaker 8 (27:36):
The ends is messing up everything.

Speaker 9 (27:37):
Well, I just again, I just think you might have
to go a little longer on ends if if Micah
and it's not that Micah wouldn't want to be out
there fifty plays, forty five plays. I'm just wondering if
it's reasonable that you don't want him to to have
a soft tissue injury in the first game or first
two weeks because he hasn't you know, gone through. Has

(28:00):
he been working out? Is he in great shape? Yes?
But there's football shape yeah, and there's non football shape.

Speaker 8 (28:06):
Hold the people.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
I'm sorry, uh, she said James Houston Pairy on Winfrey.
I just said, deep intive line. Where personnel wise, who
are keeping who.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
Are you cutting that's confusing the Peyton is confusing me.
With respect.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
Now, I do understand that the coaches, I think they
valued him from the run stopping ability. They were moving
him on the inside. I saw during practice and because
he's so tall and he has all that length, he
was able to slip some of those guards and help
out there.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
I do what they.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Gotta do, take care of the player. That's fine.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
Who is the other gentleman, Tyrs Week Whereas I think
that he's giving you some things in the passing game,
in the running game, James Houston as well. I think
James Houston really came in here and messed up some
people's day too.

Speaker 7 (28:49):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (28:49):
Yeah, I think that he changed how a little bit of.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
How that edge room looked as well than what we
initially thought. Because Tyr's we've been around for a while.
They've kept him a while around because he's a gentleman
that helping the run and does have some pass rush ability.
But I think with James Houston showed as it's just
like especially just as a pure pass rusher, put some
stink on that room.

Speaker 9 (29:08):
Yeah, you think Ernest Brown, I think they like what
they from Ernest Brown.

Speaker 5 (29:12):
Pray Saints. I hope they do keep him. I hope
they do.

Speaker 6 (29:16):
With this defensive line and what I believe in talking
to the guys in practice.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
What they want to do, they need.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
They want guys that can get off the ball, have
high motors and and tackle well. And I think with
this defensive it just the line room. They're wanting all
these guys to funnel and contain. And I just feel
like they want length and speed on this on this
defensive line.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
To me, so that's just what I think is gonna prevail.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
James Houston pulling a Carl Lawson how he came in
last year? Yeah, late last year.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
It's a great and definit you know, five sacks.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
I think I think he pulling.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
No, no, no, no, no, that's on me. That's on me.
That's some out.

Speaker 7 (30:00):
You're good, Uh, what what happened with the We we confident.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
That, I know you're gonna say, Mazzi, Yeah, Are.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
We confident that that's just that's just setting stone? Are you?

Speaker 9 (30:13):
I think that they don't want to give up so
early on a first round.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Draft pick this year?

Speaker 6 (30:23):
Three right, Yeah, that's a nice way to say it,
all right.

Speaker 8 (30:26):
I think I think I think that's the I think.

Speaker 7 (30:29):
That's the pride of not just the Cowboys, but Jerry
Jones is this is a this is a place where
they like to draft and develop. And I don't think
we know that Jerry Jones has a lot to say
so in what's happening next? And I just think he's
someone who's not gonna throw in the town a first

(30:50):
round draft pick yet regardless. And then I think, to
be fair, like, yes, there's been like my my list
had oh so saw them and Mazzi, Perry on Winfrey,
And I think out of the group, Perry on Wiffrey
maybe for me was more of a surprise, a good
surprise that I saw out there.

Speaker 8 (31:09):
But I also think it's someone brought this to my attention.

Speaker 7 (31:13):
Is who's really outside of we know what Osa and
Solomon can do. Who's really outshining Mazzi Smith? Or is
this just the fact that you haven't seen what you
expected to see out of a Mazzi Smith going into
year three that other rookies or people who weren't expected
to do is great.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
They're not They're doing a serviceable job.

Speaker 7 (31:33):
And I think if it's a serviceable job, and we're
talking a former first round pick in year three with
the new DC in here, who maybe feels like they
can pull something out of more or maybe you never know.
This is not Matt. Matt Eberflus had nothing to do
with when Mazzi was here. This may be something where
he doesn't in the inside and internally doesn't want to,

(31:54):
but they're like, hey, you got you gotta try to
figure this out.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
Well, can I just say one other thing about Mazzi?
When you it's not just the first round pick investment
of hey, we want to we want to be right,
we don't want to, we don't want to miss on someone.
There are financial implications with every one of these moves
and the investment in the first round pick. If you
cut Massie, it's over seven million dollars in dead cap space,

(32:19):
so you're getting nothing and he's counting over seven million
dollars against the cap. So if it's even between a
couple of guys, mm hmmm in your mind and how
much you think they can contribute, which way you going
to go?

Speaker 7 (32:33):
They just got And then to your point too, if
you can get him in to look serviceable and you
don't feel like you can build well like Chrissy said, well,
now you get something out of him, like you can
you can make a trade of someone.

Speaker 8 (32:48):
Else steps up or what have you. It's not just.

Speaker 7 (32:50):
Losing money, you can. I mean, this is a business
at the end of the time. Question what before we
enterre other positions. I'm sorry, what do you feel like
eber Flus.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Can pull out of MASI that nobody else. Nobody else
has like that.

Speaker 6 (33:09):
Flues but white Cotton, he's fantastic at what he does. Uh,
and we've seen him develop young townly for a while.

Speaker 9 (33:18):
Can you make him faster off the ball?

Speaker 5 (33:20):
That's that's really the if you when you look at Mazi.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
That's honestly one of the biggest problems is the get off.
And I know that's something that the coaches got with
him on very early.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
The previous to the previous regime worked.

Speaker 6 (33:34):
On that with him because his stands come out of
college a little different. But Mike, I think I think
I want well, first of all, if I'm being honest
about what I've seen on the tape, perry On Winfrey
has looked Miles more efficient at the position, and obviously too,
they're using Perryon at different places. But it just I
am I'm concerned about what if this is, if they

(33:57):
are going to play him, if they are going to
keep him, how many snaps he getting a game, because
I am I do think the motors the motor, and
the motor's going to be the motor, and I know
that those bigger guys do not typically have motors. I
hope they have an adequate rotation for him so he
isn't tired out, because that's something we'll see later in
games with him, is that he will start. He will
the paths will get high. You'll see him huffing and puffing.

(34:18):
His hands are really non factors when it comes to
when it comes to engaging. So for me, I don't know.
I just I know the money matters and everything. I
do also care about the precedent that's set, and if
there's a standard, then I hope that the standard is met.
And I do think this is his third year, he
deserves a little bit more time. But if it's not there,

(34:41):
I do not think that this is something that you
can sit on and wait on and just continue to
wait on, especially when there might be gentlemen behind him
that are developing or doing what they need to do.
We'll see what coach Whitcotton is able to do.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
But that's all I got Rainy on.

Speaker 7 (34:56):
And then what Nicole just to touch on when you're like,
what what can he bring on? What can they bring
out of him that hasn't been done? Yes to your guys'
is both of your guys's point. You know, they're certainly
like coming out the ball, you can't how do you
make that better? But I think it's also like you
have to think about the mental aspect of it and
where he's at. Because just to go back to Kaye
when I had that conversation with him, people could have

(35:16):
said the same thing in Buffalo, like people are actually
surprised that this man is not only making the team
but as a starter on it, Like they can't believe
that this is the guy who's coming into his fourth year,
had three not great years in Buffalo. And he straight
up told me, he was like, this is the first
time where people believe in what I can do. And
I was in a situation where they he had three
different dcs in Buffalo or three different play callers in Buffalo,

(35:38):
and he said, no one, I was only getting opportunities
because other people were hurt. And I was never their guy,
so you never know with a Mazzi Smith. There's been
a lot of changes here since he's been here as well.

Speaker 9 (35:48):
He's a different guy.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
Yeah, And that's a lot to ask from.

Speaker 8 (35:52):
That's a lot to ask.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
But my only counter that will be also two's that
Dusty NFL unfortunately very much so a lot of guys
just and a lot of guys have to do it
as well, and so I have plenty of empathy, but
there does need to be a standard of play and
that it needs to be met. And I'm not trying
to have this linebacker corps that I believe is gonna
be one of the better ones you've had in years
getting their asses knocked around.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
All right, all right, cool, all right, line backer room,
let's talk about it.

Speaker 8 (36:19):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
All right, Shamar James.

Speaker 8 (36:24):
The live backer room is my favorite room.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
Buddy Johnson, Damone Clark, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (36:32):
Darius Harris, what is?

Speaker 10 (36:34):
What is?

Speaker 8 (36:34):
What is Buddy's buddy?

Speaker 5 (36:36):
I know that he's played, but what was his injury
earlier in the preseason.

Speaker 6 (36:40):
I felt like he got banged up in that first
game or something like that. It doesn't he's been around
for a while. I do think that Harris is a
guy that they do like because of the blitzing ability,
some of the special teams things he's able to do.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
Do you know anything about some of the stuff he
does on special teams?

Speaker 9 (36:54):
Did he do anything?

Speaker 5 (36:56):
He didn't play a lot of teams this year.

Speaker 9 (36:58):
Uh uh, But that was just because you didn't have
guys that normally play teams playing teams some of the
starters and stuff. But I think I think Buddy Johnson
on teams would be really good. But I think he's
a practice squad guy. He is a three year player,
so he would have to clear waivers. I think Justin
Barron is a guy that's definitely practice squad. They gave

(37:22):
him the nearly quarter million dollar bonus excuse me, not
bonus guarantee because they think that he's, you know, uh,
potential practice squad guy. And I think Dumone Clark had
the most outstanding training camp that he's had and a

(37:43):
good preseason and so much so that they didn't even
have him play that final preseason game. So I'm really
happy for Damon, who's been a guest on Girls Talk,
Boys Talk. But yeah, I think that that Buddy and
Darius are not not going to make the team and
and I'm not sure if you can bring fit both
of them back on the practice squad.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
Might just be one or the other. But yeah, knee injury,
that's what it was. They with uh.

Speaker 6 (38:11):
Clark, I think you get just like your point that
you were making earlier about elam de Moon, Clark struggled
last year with the system that Zimmer had them in,
and that was something I had conversations with him about
and just being a scheme fit and fitting with that
culture regime, and that just is what it is. And
he's really you see ebra Flus's influence on this linebacker

(38:33):
room so much already. I remember some of the guys
staying out there like he can't help himself, Like he'll
go around because he asked, He'll go around to the
other position groups, but he.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
Lingered at their linebacker room. There's a little bit more.

Speaker 6 (38:44):
And so DeMont Clark, Yeah, the decisiveness from him, the
way he's reading the field, I think that's made a
big jump. And so I do I agree. I think
he's a gentleman that deserves to make the team.

Speaker 9 (38:55):
Yeah. Dave Bargonzi, who's the he's work. He had been
here before, great guy. I knew him from before, but
he'd worked with Flus at Fluce's other stops, so he's
like an extension of Flus. And so d'mon is really
benefiting from the coaching this year?

Speaker 4 (39:12):
For sure?

Speaker 7 (39:13):
What you got here when we did our little projections,
the only name that Nicole mentioned I did have Damon
Clark on my list of linebackers. I think basically what
you guys both just said, this was someone coming in
question marks. Okay, if he doesn't do it this year,
this might be the end of the road from him.
Had so much promise coming out of LSU. We just

(39:34):
didn't see any of that coming here. And got to
talk to him after his uh that second preseason game,
and the words that he was using the theme of
our conversation was confidence is convenance, is just showing on
the field.

Speaker 8 (39:49):
You love that for him.

Speaker 7 (39:51):
I do think Buddy Johnson like veteran guy if you
will going into your three, big fan of Buddy Johnson.
I think he had more influence on the special teams.
Anytime you can be a utilization to the special teams,
I think you have a chance of being on that
practice squad.

Speaker 8 (40:09):
But yeah, I think Demon Clark is the star of that.
But what list so happy for what?

Speaker 5 (40:14):
He no more?

Speaker 9 (40:15):
That's it?

Speaker 4 (40:16):
All right, ladies, We're gonna take our second break. We
gotta go, but we were back talking cornerbacks and treyvon Diggs.

Is sixty times? Time is moving? It is just like
it is for this fifty three man roster cut down
that the period. All right, Palm cornerbacks, ladies, who y'all
making the Who y'all have making the roster? But do
y'all have on practice squad?

Speaker 8 (43:23):
Who are y'all.

Speaker 6 (43:25):
Cutting?

Speaker 7 (43:27):
Man?

Speaker 9 (43:28):
Yep, yep, yep, yep.

Speaker 6 (43:31):
How many?

Speaker 9 (43:31):
I think? Mike Smith on the practice squad. Let's go
in safety safety. Mike Smith on the practice squad and
bring him back. He would be waved. He's a rookie.
I think it's going to be interesting. Are you able
to keep both Keemon Hall and Zion Childress. I don't
know if you can. And then I don't know if
you can keep Mukuamu. But we talked about him earlier.

(43:53):
I love his position flex that not only can he
play safety, but you can bring him down in the
box and and the other guys don't don't have that
kind of versatility. So you you've got a hybrid safety
cornerback basically box guy that no one else can provide.

Speaker 5 (44:13):
How many that's a tough one. How many y'all think
they keep me?

Speaker 4 (44:17):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 9 (44:19):
Six were you counting safeties and cornerbacks together?

Speaker 5 (44:23):
I'm gonna talk about it.

Speaker 8 (44:23):
I just talk about the corner I was just I
was talking.

Speaker 5 (44:27):
Okay, yeah, my brain.

Speaker 9 (44:30):
And oh he's he's made the team. I think yeah.
And let me just say one more thing. I'm still
not convinced that one of the corners that's going to
be on the fifty three man roster is not from
another is a member of another team right now? Okay?

Speaker 5 (44:49):
That somebody needs that means somebody get in the boot
for real.

Speaker 7 (44:52):
Yeah, I have a question Christy that maybe you can
answer a little bit better because I feel like it's
it's a little different because I think Brian Schottenheimer's new
to us when we're looking at how he does things
in the preseason. So when I saw is he out
there playing so much in Game three as late as
he was, like, did that had any red flags to you?

Speaker 8 (45:11):
Because I just feel like for a guy, yes.

Speaker 9 (45:14):
Yes, but at the same time, his position flex, he
could also play safe. He really played safety and not
corner in that game, so they needed they needed enough
bodies to get through the game, and he could be
a body at both positions. So that's one where it
kind of hurt. It's like, awesome, Richard's awesome played. He

(45:36):
backed up at both left tackle and at guard, so
they needed him to get through and he was going
to play third preseason game anyway. But the fact that
Booth was not playing in that final preseason's, wow, that
was great for him. I didn't but but is Andrew
Booth better than someone that you could get that's on

(45:58):
another squad right now that's gonna get released.

Speaker 5 (46:01):
They're gonna see.

Speaker 6 (46:02):
Yeah, I think he mind is gonna end up being
a practice squad guy.

Speaker 9 (46:08):
Think he can slide through. That's a very valuable thing
to be able to play in the slot.

Speaker 8 (46:14):
I agree.

Speaker 9 (46:15):
I agree, it's risky. It's all I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (46:18):
It's risky.

Speaker 6 (46:19):
I wonder, are we going to see who's gonna be
the the other boundary corner? Is it gonna be It's
gonna be bland. If doesn't play, it's gonna be bland.

Speaker 8 (46:29):
Both Elm and Booth would yeah.

Speaker 5 (46:33):
And planning the land in the slot, and then Booth
on the on the boundary maybe pray saints all right.

Speaker 9 (46:39):
Uh maybe, I mean that's that's how they were working
early in camp. I think the first three weeks of camp.

Speaker 7 (46:45):
I think this is the afloat I was talking about
until Trayvon and he still think you got some bone
rebel coming back.

Speaker 4 (46:51):
So you got Josh Butler.

Speaker 9 (46:53):
But but when I was gonna say, what is the
update on rebels, he's still not practical.

Speaker 5 (47:00):
The update is that there is none when we talk
about this room.

Speaker 6 (47:08):
So I want to say, I'm pretty sure that they
are still interested in Zion childrens.

Speaker 5 (47:12):
I just think that he's gonna depending on if they
want to.

Speaker 6 (47:15):
Go youth youth, then they'll keep them if they don't,
which I'm kind of leaning towards maybe not like him being.

Speaker 5 (47:22):
A practice squad guy and them.

Speaker 6 (47:24):
Going with the veteran guys to start, just because, like
you said, you're trying to stay afloat. So maybe he's
a practice squad guy just based off of that. I'm
another gentleman that interests me in regard to the safety room,
Nicole is Elijah Clark. Oh yeah, Janye Thomas had a
very quiet camp.

Speaker 5 (47:40):
That's my big dog dog.

Speaker 6 (47:43):
A lot of time with injury, but he missed a
lot of time and when he was out, guys like
Marque's Bell and Elijah.

Speaker 5 (47:52):
Clark took those snaps.

Speaker 6 (47:53):
So I wonder if Elijah Clark during that time built
enough rapport with the coaches and what they've seen. And
he's a tackling machine, what a sound tackler in the run.
I wonder if he's a guy that they want to
stash on the practice squad, maybe bring it.

Speaker 9 (48:08):
I think they'd love to stash him, But.

Speaker 8 (48:11):
Boy, he's hard peoplesh.

Speaker 6 (48:13):
The only good thing is that cut they is a
million zillion people now, yes, So maybe he'll get.

Speaker 9 (48:18):
In you have over eleven hundred players that are going
to be unemployed at three o'clock Central this afternoon.

Speaker 4 (48:24):
Real fast, Who's the who has the toughest decision to make?

Speaker 9 (48:29):
God?

Speaker 4 (48:30):
Who has the toughest Because it's like the show Chris's
over It?

Speaker 5 (48:36):
I hit my.

Speaker 8 (48:38):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 9 (48:39):
I've heard it refer to that before.

Speaker 4 (48:41):
So who's got the toughest decision to make?

Speaker 7 (48:44):
Go?

Speaker 8 (48:46):
You mean like position group, position, position group DBS.

Speaker 9 (48:51):
I think there's just so many moving parts in terms
of injuries and young players that would be hard to
slide through the wave of wire.

Speaker 4 (49:02):
All right, what you got?

Speaker 9 (49:04):
Oh gosh, wow, that is as.

Speaker 5 (49:07):
Okay, what's the question?

Speaker 6 (49:09):
Sorry, no, no, no, no, we're talking about the We're talking about
the safeties and what's going to be the hardest cut.
I think it's I really do think the cornerback room
is the most stressful because of the injuries. And I
do think the Easy and Keemon conversation might be one
of the hardest. It's between Easy and Keemon and Children's
and Keemon, because you got to figure out who has
the most upside, who fits the most right now, Like

(49:31):
it is a difficult decision to make, So to make
that's the biggest that's the hardest one.

Speaker 7 (49:36):
I think the dB as well, But just to be
different here, I'm gonna say the running backs because I
think they're dealing with their own injuries. I think Javonte Williams,
we're putting a lot of faith in that situation and
we haven't seen him take a single snap.

Speaker 8 (49:51):
So if that doesn't go right, then what do we
what do we do? What is my like? You keeping?

Speaker 7 (49:56):
Miles Sanders? We know fil Mafa's that was the guy
who we were excited about. Kind of the surprise he's injured. Now,
Malik Davis, we talked about him sticking around possibly, Who
am I missing? Kaden Blue? He's injured, but he's dealing
with the same injury I think that he had before. Yeah,
so that's kind of concerning, if you will, like, it's

(50:16):
pretty early to be dealing with that.

Speaker 8 (50:19):
So yeah, that's that's my question. Mark. How many keeping?
What are we doing there?

Speaker 3 (50:22):
All?

Speaker 4 (50:23):
Right?

Speaker 9 (50:23):
Ladies?

Speaker 4 (50:23):
Well this has been great. We will be back here tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (50:25):
