Speaker 5 (00:35):
Welcome into Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented by Vizline.
Speaker 6 (00:38):
Here in the s WBC studio.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
I'm Nicole Hutchinson alongside Breonna Aldridge.
Speaker 6 (00:43):
And a Issha Morrison.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
And I don't know if it's like a good morning, ladies.
Speaker 6 (00:49):
It's more so of like a I don't know, it's
like a.
Speaker 7 (00:52):
Morning morning, but we go because we got some who
not good news.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
It's like a mix of emotion with news. I don't
really know how to feel yet, But ladies, the Cowboys
traded Michael Parsons yesterday, a deal that was done with
the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first rounders
let's just say future first rounders, and they also get
Kenny Clark, a defensive tackle, three time Pro Bowler. Let's
(01:20):
just start with the thoughts when that crossed your mind
when the news broke because let me tell you something.
It was sunny yesterday and then it just seemed like
the mood change and God said, hmmm, I don't know
how to feel about this, and then it started lightning.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
So I want to know y'all thoughts.
Speaker 6 (01:39):
Let's start with anybody.
Speaker 7 (01:42):
Mm Wow, it was a nice quiet Thursday afternoon in
my office and our intern said, popped up out of
his chair and said, Micah's headed.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
To the packers.
Speaker 7 (01:54):
And I'm just like, this kid is I was like,
is it even a reputable Like I'm not even kidding,
Like I'm like, I'm thirty minutes out the door that
we talk about.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
And then I look and I'm like, oh my goodness, right.
Speaker 7 (02:06):
I tweeted initially the unthinkable happened. That's what my initial
tweet that I put out there. I'm I think shocked
because I think myself and us sitting here and all
of Cowboys Nation, Jerry Jones, I don't think anyone took
(02:27):
Micah's August first tweet of requesting a public trade seriously.
And I mean that not in I mean that in
the fact, not serious, Like, yes, there was tension, and yes,
he was clearly upset to request the public trade, right.
You didn't see that with the CD LAMB thing of
you definitely didn't see that with Dak when they went
through the same situation last year.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
But I just felt like this is what this is
how they.
Speaker 8 (02:50):
Do things right all the time.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:52):
So I was just like, yeah, things are not looking great,
but Micah's just trying to get some attention and like
kind of put his foot down. But when he said
he did not want to play for the Dallas Cowboys
on August first, yeah, he was for real. And I
think it's just crazy how it unfolded. I think the
last week, and I know we'll go over the timeline
(03:14):
and stuff, but I just think the last week really started.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
To trend down.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
That picture that kind of went viral of him at
the airport requesting a second opinion on his.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Back, Yeah he was going with Greenberg.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Yeah, he was going yeah.
Speaker 7 (03:31):
And it's just so many people like literally, I know
y'all can't see this, but these are like all the
notes that I took from the presser yesterday because it
just was just like so much because you had all
these questions and I'm not even sure that all the
questions are answered.
Speaker 9 (03:44):
After the press.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I think that's the frustrating, frustrating part right now, because
it was kind of like like the first answer.
Speaker 7 (03:50):
I think Nick Harris tweeted the first answer to the
question Calvin asked was eleven minutes and thirty seconds, and
I forgot what the question was because it was just
why did I trade persons?
Speaker 5 (04:02):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (04:02):
I was like, oh boy, so that's that's that's that.
But yeah, still a little little stunts. I know it's
quiet here at the start, not sure because if it's
eight am or if it's because it's a little gloomy outside.
Speaker 8 (04:14):
But how you show what you got?
Speaker 7 (04:17):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (04:18):
Well, first I want to say that my first reaction.
Speaker 8 (04:24):
Was, y'all.
Speaker 9 (04:27):
Well, first of all, it's different too because when you
work for the Cowboys or you're around this organization, like
if you got anybody in your family that's a hater
or MC hater or friends or whatever, they gonna let
you know.
Speaker 8 (04:39):
So my So that's initially.
Speaker 9 (04:40):
How I got it, is that I had cousins like
what's going on down there?
Speaker 8 (04:44):
Because I was like, what what are you talking about?
Speaker 9 (04:47):
Because I had a bit of weirder day yes weird
day yesterday? And then I mean you get on Twitter
and you see what happens, and I did feel like
my initial reaction kind of was shocked, But then as
the the day went.
Speaker 8 (05:01):
On, it did started to make sense to me.
Speaker 9 (05:05):
And I will say even the night before there was
some weird rumblings or some weird conversation going on where
you just like, ah, maybe.
Speaker 8 (05:13):
There is some maybe this is.
Speaker 9 (05:16):
Whatever this has come to is that it can't be mended.
And I think that's what Brie was saying, is like
this last week thing started to really trickle down and
it felt like there was gonna be a conclusion, and
it just so happened that this ended up being the conclusion.
So for me, I'm still struggling to make football sense
of it because I sit up here and watch how
(05:39):
defenses react to this player and what impact this player has.
But I also am trying to take in all of
the thing about this type of stuff when it happens,
is that eventually we gonna know, yeah, and we're gonna
start here, We're gonna start hearing and getting more and
more information on what was really going on behind the
scenes to kind of help us understand how this even
(06:00):
became to be.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
Yeah, And I want to give credit to Jane Slater.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
She was one of the few people that that reported
it initially, but she had also said something which I
could kind of agree with because I've heard similarities within
the locker room, and she had said that basically, like,
you know, one, I hate that it happened, you know,
this way, just because you know, you had opportunities to
(06:27):
possibly get better draft picks, you know, if you were
able to get more for your bang for your buck basically,
But she had said that, you know, she kind of
heard within the locker room that it was time to
kind of part ways, and and that's something that I've
kind of been hearing within the locker room as well
with a couple of the guys. So maybe it was,
(06:49):
but I hate that it it came down to this.
And you know, with a guy like Michael Parsons, I mean,
you you simply just cannot rep k him.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
You I don't. We've said it before the production that
he makes.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
Uh, it's very hard to kind of get that type
of player back. But I mean, there were some of
some things in the press conference that stood out to me,
and me and I Su were talking.
Speaker 6 (07:15):
About it yesterday.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
Was excuse me, was the fact that they want to
stop the run, right, this has been an achilles hill
for this team last year, the year before before I
got here, And I think that it just came at
an awkward time, you know. And granted, yeah, you do
(07:38):
need a defensive tackle because you don't necessarily know what
you're gonna get out of Massie Smith.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
Let's be real, but I think that you could have
gotten a little bit more.
Speaker 10 (07:48):
What you think.
Speaker 8 (07:49):
I think you could have got a lot of bit more.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
And uh and do you think that that that stopped
their reasoning excuse me, was was validated? Do you think
that that was an actual reason to trade Michael Parson's thoughts.
Speaker 9 (08:04):
Well, I mean I think it was more than I
think it was more about more than just about stopping
the run. And because I think if it was about that,
some of the decisions that you made prior to that,
some of the decisions you would have made during free agency,
some of the decisions that you maybe even made during
Like I just feel like if that is what you
were looking for, then this is something that would have
(08:26):
been addressed sooner. And even so when you look at
the compensation, I know we're gonna get the little intricate details.
When you look at the compensation, I just feel like
they could have what they're gonna have to do to
maximize this. Maximize this is flip.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
It and reverse it.
Speaker 9 (08:44):
Somebody need to talk to somebody that worked with Howie
over there with the Green folks, some other green folks
in Philly and figure out how to really maximize this trade.
Because if you're saying the two first round picks and
the defensive tackle is is enough, I don't believe that
because we have to wait. There has to be development,
(09:05):
We have to see this. This is a proven player.
This is a proven player, and I do believe looking
at Kenny Clark checked out some of his tape last night,
this is a gentleman that can take on blocks, can disengage,
can two gap and what I mean by that is
he can hold double teams and allow linebackers to play
free and be able to field gaps and things like that.
Speaker 8 (09:25):
He can penetrate.
Speaker 9 (09:26):
He has some power behind his pads and how he
can really push the line.
Speaker 8 (09:30):
But I do think he does help your run defense.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
But I'm.
Speaker 8 (09:36):
It can't just be about that.
Speaker 9 (09:37):
And I will say also to even in the presser,
there were certain comments that this is something that is
well known about Michael Parsons and other edge rushers in
the game, is that when they are speed rushers, sometimes
they're lighting the butt and you run at them, and
that's how you take advantage of them. You can take
them and you can scheme away from them and take them.
Speaker 8 (09:58):
Out of the game. And I know Nichol's gonna get
to that.
Speaker 9 (10:00):
That's like some of what I was hearing as well
is that they thought. It sounds like they thought that
the way that teams have schemed around you and schemed
around Micah to be able to be successful in the run,
it's something that they will that they can live without,
maybe and try to evolve the line as a whole
so they can be better against the run. It just
(10:23):
it makes football sense, But not right now and not
with this player.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Yes that Stephens said, you can scheme pass rush, you
can't scheme stopping the run.
Speaker 9 (10:33):
But you But in fairness though, that's quite literally what
Hebraflus is doing. He is the way that his system
is set up, with the slant fronts, with the shifts,
with all those things, he is scheming to stop the run.
Speaker 8 (10:46):
And so I felt like there was.
Speaker 9 (10:49):
Some you know, palm trees, Miami palm trees, sitting back
with your feet with your drink sipping.
Speaker 6 (10:57):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Facts Looking at I felt like, okay, there was that
seems appropriate.
Speaker 9 (11:04):
Some glass is needed in some of the comments here
as well. So I don't know y'all like it, don't.
It still don't make sense to me, but I think
it is gonna eventually make sense to all of us.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
What you got for it doesn't make football sense.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
I mean no disrespect to Jerry Jones, but what happened
in the press conference overall, like I know a lot
was said, is that Steven They tried to convince everyone,
uh huh, that Kenny Clark. Kenny Clark was basically the
(11:40):
motivator to get this going. Literally like they wanted a
note tackle. They wanted they weren't talking to any other
teams unless that position was on the table.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
That's what stood out to me.
Speaker 7 (11:54):
The second thing that stood out to me, he said
when he hired Brian Stenheimer, it was already on his
mind what he could get from Michael Park. Somebody is
I'm not gonna call nobody was calling nobody's father a liar.
But what's heading in And I'm just like Ryan Schottenheimer
(12:15):
a couple of days ago, was talking about Micah Parsons
and him having good conversations after you know, some things,
him taking a breather on the medical table, what have
you coming into the game with nachos or what have you.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
He was backing him up.
Speaker 7 (12:31):
In training camp about he was dealing with a lingering
back issue. We all have our personal thoughts on that,
but it was at the end of the day, his
head coach was backing him up.
Speaker 6 (12:40):
Right.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
My other, my other thing that stood out with this
whole situation is dak is thirty two years old. Everyone
is saying his windows closing, right, and it's beyond that.
It's the thirty year drought. It's the Eagles are the
Super Bowl champs. It's the commanders are getting stronger around you.
(13:05):
And not only do you take your best I'm not
gonna say player, but best defensive player to the NFC,
to the Packers, the person did anybody remember what happened
in twenty twenty three?
Speaker 9 (13:20):
Oh, you ain't gotta talk to twenty sixteen or twenty fourteen.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
I need you try to let it go, please sew.
Speaker 7 (13:27):
It's just like if it just feels like this is
going to be something that's gonna come back and haunt
this team, not just talking about week four when they're
facing Micah Parsons and Brian Schottenheimer has to put something
together to stop Michah Parsons. It's beyond that. And that
was the thing. It was like it the last week
(13:47):
is when it started to feel like Jane Slater again
credit to her, a couple of days ago, said I'm
not gonna lie things. I look at things differently at
this point because this is the first time where I've
reached out to both teams and nobody has confirmed nor
deny that there's been a trade, our request what happened
(14:08):
or our conversations. And then a couple of days or
was it even forty eight hours ago, was like, okay, well,
now this is the first time the Cowboys are saying
they're open to hearing conversations because Steven jos was staying
on business not that long ago saying we're not listening
like they were. They were kind of like laughing it off,
like you know, we're not listening to trade.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
Yeah, I remember sitting right there listening to them.
Speaker 7 (14:28):
Yeah, we're not listening. We're not listening to that. So
a lot changed. But I think the issue and the
frustration is if it makes football sense, right, I think
we can all agree number one, and maybe, like you said,
maybe it makes football sense in a couple of years.
This is not a move that lets Cowboys Nation know
you want to win right now. That's that's that's the
(14:48):
number one. Yeah, this is a team that's rebuilding.
Speaker 8 (14:52):
You voluntarily got worse.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
Yes, yes, you got a nose that situation.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
The interior defensive line got stronger.
Speaker 8 (14:59):
ID, Yeah, it did get stronger.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
But the only reason why the defensive end room looks
so powerful is because Dante Fowler was who came coming
off a really good season, was your number two behind
Michael Parsons. Now you're taking a lot of more faith
and it comes from your number two. To me, it's
like you if Cede Lamb was in the picture, like
right now, Ceede Lamb and George Pickens look amazing. But
(15:23):
imagine if you take Cedee Lamb out of the picture, Well,
now you just put all your eggs on basket for
George Pickens leading that room. That That's exactly is what's
happening to the defensive end room right now.
Speaker 8 (15:31):
Yeah, and Donovan Azaraku comes to mind.
Speaker 9 (15:34):
And now the push, the back and forth that we
heard about James Houston and him making this roster makes
more sense. Isaiah land coming back over from the Colts
undrafted free agent that they drafted a couple of years ago,
It makes more sense now that they felt like they had.
Speaker 8 (15:49):
To go a little deeper at that position.
Speaker 9 (15:51):
If this was something that was kind of sort of
maybe on the table, but not on the table, but
for real on the table. So for me, I'm just
trying to follow some I know I had.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
It makes sense once, but.
Speaker 9 (16:06):
Not like it did register to me, Like dang, Like
they really are going to whoever these pass rushers are
going to have to earn.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Their just job got harder.
Speaker 9 (16:18):
Their job is harder, and they are really gonna have
to earn any double teams that they get, any favorable
matchups that they get.
Speaker 8 (16:26):
Because if I'm a.
Speaker 9 (16:27):
Different team right now, if I'm an offense, like and
I know that I got Dallas on the schedule, like
I ain't gotta worrybody living no more. He is the
only person on your defense outside of maybe a Trayvon
Diggs that was there before that you have to really
I guess Osa as well. I also maybe falls into
that category. But this is someone that people have to
plan for. Yeah, game plan for, change their game plan. A.
(16:50):
He took tight ends out of the game. He made
running backs have to sacrifice their bodies, and like, who's
gonna step up there? It's just yeah, I don't know
what you got a call.
Speaker 6 (16:59):
I just know I was gonna say, we're gonna take
our first break.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
I want to dive into, you know, the winners and
losers of this trade up next in the next segment
and talk about, you know, who's that next man up,
who's got to carry the load? Now that Michael Parsons
uh is now with the Green Bay Packers and we
will see him week four, I'm stressed the hell out,
but we're gonna take our first break. Will be back
(17:21):
when more girls talk boys stop.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Who that's great?
Speaker 8 (20:09):
What else is john?
Speaker 6 (20:10):
It comes?
Speaker 7 (20:10):
Really?
Speaker 8 (20:10):
What else?
Speaker 7 (20:11):
The game?
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (20:14):
Let's get through the right.
Speaker 8 (20:16):
This is painting.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Like it's hard.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
It's like hilarious, but not like funny hilarious, Like.
Speaker 8 (20:23):
It's not funny hot.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
It's like funny weird, like it hurts bad.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
So you just y'all know what's funny.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
I actually like looked up the taxes that he don't
have to pay, so.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Like I did, it don't matter though, it don't matter.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
It looks brand on paper, but like the CPA, I
hate you. Yeah, no, he'd be owing three point six
million taxes, so technically that'd be like what forty four.
Speaker 6 (20:45):
Or forty three million dollars.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
So technically, if it's really hurting, what I'm getting is
I know right, what I'm getting is he would have
been earning the same amount of money. I'm just trying
to make myself feel better, but I cannot.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Okay, what you you and it makes sense.
Speaker 8 (21:03):
That's just what we gotta try to make sense.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
We got to to some degree, absolutely, But he you know,
one thing that did stand out is and we're gonna
get to you know, Kenny Clark, what he brings and
just the winners lose to this trade.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
Guys who stood out. But one thing that did stand out.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
To me is that Jerry said that it was a
unanimous decision about trading Michael Parsons, the front office, the
coaching staff.
Speaker 6 (21:28):
Why are you out of the camera, are you okay?
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I'm okay, because unanimous decision.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
And I mean, but Shoddy has talked about the fact
that he's enjoyed the fact that, you know, he does
feel like he has a voice, right, the entire coaching
staff does have a voice when they bring in players,
even before the draft.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
I mean, hearing that, what does that do for y'all?
Speaker 7 (21:52):
I mean, that's just the that's just I think it's
what you gotta say when you like podcast. Ahead listen, Okay,
I grew up in a house with five boys.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
That means a lot of egos.
Speaker 7 (22:07):
Okay, I know what happens when someone can't apologize or
admit that they're wrong. Jerry, My story that I did
last night ended with the perfect quote from Jerry because
he said, in April, I gave him a deal, a
good deal.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
He said, it's.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
Actually more guaranteed money than what is reportedly being offered
from the packers. And then he said, but then after
the deal was done again, in Jerry's mind, deal's done,
he said. Micah then came back and said he wanted
to negotiate. Then Jerry laughed, He took a couple pauses,
(22:47):
and he said it's pretty clever, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
I think.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
And that's how my story ended because that told me
everything that I needed to know about the situation. And
I don't think we need to sit here and figure
out much more.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
I mean, it was egos. At the end of the day.
Speaker 7 (23:07):
I think Michael Parsons challenged Jerry and away the other
players haven't and that's just the reality.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
Like, if you think about it, I think CD.
Speaker 7 (23:15):
Maybe did like one cryptic kind of tweet last training camp,
but didn't really go back and forth with Jerry, didn't
really call out the front office Micah did all those things.
Micah has a great platform, and I think I don't
think Jerry Jones liked how that that felt.
Speaker 8 (23:32):
Yeah, and he's universe Like.
Speaker 9 (23:34):
That's the thing about Michael Parsons is that his talent,
you know, exceeds you know, just cowboy Land and that
you know, a lot of people don't like the Cowboys.
We already know that, we already know what time it is.
But there are people who don't like the Cowboys but.
Speaker 8 (23:48):
Loved him some.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
Michael Parsons, he's a universal player. And so the the
outpouring of support that he has gotten in the pushback
in the you know, we talk about you know, the
Jones and stuff like in the headlines, but it's like
some of them headlines were against them during this process.
So I do think that there was some real and
(24:11):
that was my concern the whole time. Bring that was
my concern the whole time Nicole was given how nasty
this feels like it's getting. I don't understand how we
can just sign a piece of paper, slide you your money,
and you're gonna come to work.
Speaker 8 (24:28):
And see me and be all trummy.
Speaker 9 (24:31):
I didn't think that that it was possible to mend
what was going on. And once it got to that point,
then that's what I was, That's what and that's what
I mean.
Speaker 8 (24:38):
It's like I want.
Speaker 9 (24:39):
To be really upset about this because it don't make
football sense, but I also am sitting here waiting for
some more of what was really going on to surface,
because this was clearly a serious a serious feud or
some some serious disagreements going on, Like this ain't no
small thing, and so I think that you're right, Breeze,
(25:00):
Like once I heard once I heard Jay say that too,
I was like, oh, in.
Speaker 7 (25:04):
His mind, and that's that's when it should have you know,
it's game on. But instead of like Nicole was saying, okay,
we're not getting it still done and then and then
that's when, after money and all the situation, what they
could do. They even said, like the picks they have,
they can make a trade and get some splash.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
I don't think that's gonna happen. That's not that's not what.
Speaker 8 (25:25):
That's not what they do. And that's what I'm saying, is.
Speaker 7 (25:27):
Like it a'll make sense for right now, this feels
like it feels it feels like a rebuild. And when
it comes up when it comes to what you were
talking about with the coaches, I'm not going to say
that we're not in those rooms right, so I'm not
going to say that other people in position groups, what
have you maybe weren't on board. But to say it
was unanimous, it's kind of feels like a stretch.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
But you never know.
Speaker 7 (25:52):
I will say when that uh question what the pressor
about Micah recently, remember when he was like sitting at
the table and didn't look great and Mike actually said
something about Twitter like it was basically like over exaggerated,
what have you? But I think and from what I
remember from McCarthy, McCarthy's approach would have been like I.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Didn't see it. I'll have to see it and then go.
Speaker 7 (26:16):
From there, kind of like McCarthy style was kind of
like dismissive of those type of things. But Brian Schohenheimer
kind of stood up there and basically said, like that's
not acceptable behavior, like straight up He's like, I haven't
talked to Mike about it, but I will have those conversations.
But that same time frame, like Micah was on Twitter
saying it was like downplaying it, it's not what it is,
(26:39):
and that kind of stood out to me as well,
because Shohenheimer kind of seems like he don't play those
kind of games that compete every day that we're talking about, right,
he doesn't care if.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
You're the superstar or what have you.
Speaker 7 (26:51):
Like, there's a certain standard in a culture, the culture
that they're trying to build. So again, I don't feel
like it was a unanimous decision, but but maybe it's
something with conversation when you're talking about the type of
culture you want this locker room. Maybe certain things were
kind of the tipping point in this last couple of
weeks that didn't fit the culture they're trying to bring.
(27:13):
But I think with this franchise, when you have a
generational type of talent like Micah.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
You kind of just deal with I know, some of
those things.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
I know it's hard for us to make sense of
it right now, but I want us to try make
sense of it with breaking down what Kenny Clark does bring.
I mean, you talk about, you know what the Cowboys
are losing. They're losing a big, big, big, big big
part of this defense. Four time Pro Bowl or three
(27:43):
time All Pro Defensive Rookie of the Year fifty two
and a half sacks in his career, nine forced fumbles,
four humble recoveries, absolutely a game wrecord. But you get
a guy in Kenny Clark who's played in the NFL
for nine seasons, has only missed eight games, by the way,
in his career thirty seven tackles in twenty twenty four.
(28:04):
One sack he's had thirty five. I'm sorry his entire career. Again,
they're but also different positions. But just talk about you
know what you're getting out of k Clark that you
feel is validated for this Michael Parson's trade.
Speaker 9 (28:20):
I mean, well, when you talk about defensive tackle, the
nose tackle in particular, if a team has one, they're
typically holding them for ransom and they're not going to
give them up.
Speaker 8 (28:30):
So I do.
Speaker 9 (28:30):
Understand within the conversations of the trade, if this team
doesn't have a season defensive tackle, we're not going to
take them. Also, too, we already know how inexperienced and
how inexperienced this defensive tackle room is, so I understood
that side.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
Of it as well. Nicole, you mentioned his durability.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
It sounds like a shout out to Jama Shoulder for
much Shoulder rather for dropping a little bit of information
about Kenny Clark and kind of the down year he
add to his standards last year sounds like he did
have a foot injury. Played through that foot injury, which
is why the physical today is going to be very
intricate in finding out if he's ready to go.
Speaker 8 (29:11):
Hopefully he is.
Speaker 9 (29:12):
But as the player, when you talk about the player,
he can play one tech and he can also play
three tech. This is a gentleman that can again take
on double teams. He can disengage and go meet the
ball carrier in the hole.
Speaker 8 (29:26):
Now what he also can do.
Speaker 9 (29:28):
He does have some good penetration, He has some decent
get off. He plays with a lot of power and leverage,
and he is able to use some of his hands,
use some of his hand usage and also to dip
his shoulder to influence how blockers have to take him
on and stuff.
Speaker 8 (29:44):
He seasoned.
Speaker 9 (29:45):
You see him read read offensive lineman as he's playing
the game. So he is going to immediately help this room,
this very young room that needs some experience, that needs
some in depth, that needs some depth. So I think
the ability is there with him, and you are getting
a good player. Now when it comes to the other
(30:05):
part of it with the draft picks in twenty twenty
six and twenty twenty seven, Like my concern is is
are you really going to maximize what you can do
with those picks. Like there's different scenarios that they can
use to where they can get more picks for that
first round, for those first round picks for them to
(30:26):
be able to really finagle. I don't know if Dallas
is going to really finagle those first round picks and
not just go with the first round picks because that's
the easy thing to do. That's the easy thing to do.
It's to trade up and just wait and do it
like that. But like, let's get let's get creative and
how you try to figure out how to really get
more guys in here, more suitable guys or maybe even
(30:47):
a couple stars to fill this roster. Because to your point,
Breed and to your point of call, it does feel
like this team, given how the years on the coaching staff,
I think most of them signed three year deals. Maybe
they're trying to establish something else here and maybe this
year it's not gonna look all super pretty and stuff.
Maybe they're gearing up for things next year. And by
the way they freed up quite a bit of cap
(31:09):
space to navigate as well, So I think all around
it makes sense. But with Kenny Clark in particular, I
want us to just welcome him and also to in
retrospect to the room he does help this room immediately
get better, to help the run defense save freedom.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
Nineteen million dollars of twenty twenty five cap space with
the Michael Parsons trade, by the way, now hold an
estimated forty two million dollars, second most in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (31:36):
And this is ladies.
Speaker 9 (31:37):
Is this Do you think that that has anything to
do with having considering having to pay Bland.
Speaker 8 (31:44):
Tyler Smith baby yours.
Speaker 7 (31:46):
Biggs was having it like, don't forget darn Blam was
saying before we left Foxnard, I hope we My agent's
been in talks da da, I hope. I was like
they got one. I was like, they gotta deal with
so much more right now. But yeah, they're a lot
of people that are gonna have their handout that are
important part of this team. So I don't think they're
gonna go do anything with that extra money that is
(32:09):
in the cap space. And I don't think they're gonna
do anything with those future first round picks. I think
this is what it is. It's gonna be straight up.
They're gonna roll with what that's what it feels like.
Speaker 9 (32:20):
Well, and then that's but that makes lesson Like with
that in mind, noch, it makes less sense because if
Jerry said I could have we could have had this.
I've been thinking about this since I hire Brought and
Scheinheimer and stuff like that. Then you guys could have
really really really really really maximized.
Speaker 8 (32:37):
Doing the draft.
Speaker 9 (32:38):
Actually, as a matter of fact, you might have had
That's why it doesn't feel like this was a part
of the plan, because, Babe, I would have held somebody
for I would have heild somebody for ransom. You hear
me with Michael Parson's when we're talking about I asked
scouts at the Senior Bowl.
Speaker 8 (32:53):
I remember, I said, what is the position that it is?
Speaker 12 (32:56):
Like?
Speaker 8 (32:56):
What is what does the position that's changing? Football? Speed?
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Rush?
Speaker 7 (33:00):
Sure?
Speaker 8 (33:00):
So like the value is there? Now, babe, how much
they pay him? Forty forty?
Speaker 6 (33:06):
Said forty million a year?
Speaker 4 (33:10):
Five byebe Now that's a penny.
Speaker 8 (33:18):
Don't get it twisted, though.
Speaker 7 (33:19):
How did y'all feel about the number, ladies, how did
y'all feel about the I mean mill gap from what
was offered before. And I'm sick because somebody asked me yesterday,
what did Michael say he was willing to take it?
Speaker 5 (33:33):
He said forty Oh he really said, I really said
forty A forty million dollars per year player, That's.
Speaker 6 (33:40):
What he said.
Speaker 7 (33:41):
But then I remember I was standing there when Clarence
was like, because he said, I don't he said, I
don't have He said, I remember, I don't have to
be the highest paid. Hello, I want to stay here.
Clarence said, does that mean thirty eight? Clarence is childish?
Speaker 4 (33:57):
That was That was that?
Speaker 7 (33:58):
And it's just crazy, Like it's just honestly crazy to
where we got in this point. And yes, I agree
with that. You're in ten percent. You know, it's not
like Kenny Clark is a bum, not at all. Right,
he's thirty years old. I think that's like some people
are looking like we gave up a twenty six year
old in its prime.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Okay, a twenty six year.
Speaker 7 (34:15):
Old one of only three, one of only three players
to record twelve plus sacks and at least four.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Seasons and it last five. Okay, we all know the
stats there, right.
Speaker 7 (34:23):
But it's like we strengthen a part of the defensive
line to take the way from the from what was
the what was the strength? And I was talking to
a d line coach yesterday just randomly, just I just
wanted to get his thoughts, like what is like, what
is this? What does it say to you? He said,
is it tells me that now you don't have a
(34:45):
strong four. And it tells me that now you got
to bring down another guy, and now that leaves your
possibly your corners in isolation and they need the one
on one. And I'm like, don't get me started on
the cornerback room right now, because you're praying that Trayvon
Diggs is healthy enough to come out week one, and
(35:06):
even if he's healthy enough to get on the field,
he's going to have that rep count. He's not going
to be the Trayvon Diggs right away. And then you
got to look at other guys. We signed two guys
that I had to google that I hadn't hurt. I'm sorry,
I'm just a little fun but and they could come
out and do great things. But you're taking your secondary
has a lot of question marks, a lot of injuries,
(35:29):
and you just we all know that this is all
one accord. Like you were talking last week, Ayisha about
you know your hope your d line can hold up serviceable, right,
so your linebackers aren't washed out early in the season.
And it stretches even further now to the secondary because
now you're asking, all right, I.
Speaker 9 (35:48):
Feel but I feel like that's what was in my
bad Sorry Chris, but because I think that that's what
they were saying though in that pressure. If you listen
the and that's well known about these these defensive ends
that are.
Speaker 8 (36:03):
Lighting the butt. If you want to beat them, you
run away from them or you run.
Speaker 9 (36:08):
Directly at them, and we saw teams do that to Micah,
and I felt like in that presser last night.
Speaker 8 (36:16):
They were saying, we have been trying to correct. I
don't agree.
Speaker 9 (36:20):
First of all, let me disclaim and say I don't
agree with the stopping the run thing and whatever like this.
Speaker 8 (36:24):
It's a collective thing.
Speaker 9 (36:25):
It's it's always been a collective thing, and they haven't
had the necessary piece to pieces to do that in
a long time from just a personal standpoint, so let's
start there. But I will say that it sounded like
to me that they were really emphasizing, we know teams
run at him and it's a it's a problem. I
don't know if they're I think they were trying to
validate it by saying it's not gonna get better with
(36:49):
this player.
Speaker 8 (36:50):
On the field.
Speaker 9 (36:52):
That's what I was hearing with the with a lot
of what was being said, because I was sitting here
just like, why do they keep bringing up stopping to
run and it's like a record and in comparison to
Michael Parsons and what Michael Parsons brings. And then furthermore,
the leadership thing, because we heard that was the buzzword
this offseason.
Speaker 8 (37:10):
Was leadership, leadership, leadership. And then I remember last year
in the locker room, we.
Speaker 9 (37:15):
Were hearing guys aren't in the right place, Guys aren't
playing their role, Guys aren't playing their position the correct way.
Guys are jumping out of gaps and they're not supposed
to be. So I'm hearing all this underlining stuff, and
that's why I said, I'm like, I'm trying to stay
patient because it sounded like they were saying to me,
this player helps us get better stopping the run and
this one doesn't.
Speaker 8 (37:33):
And at the same time, listen, I ain't about to
go and it acts like that's the reality.
Speaker 9 (37:38):
But I do think that that's like something they're trying
to tell us in between the lines, and that's what
I thought.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
I want to ask pose this next question in our
next segment, Who's the next man up? Think about it,

Speaker 4 (40:57):
You know, we got gotta have a good time. This
me a long. It's gonna be along. Who absolutely who's
the next man up?
Speaker 6 (41:05):
Ladies?
Speaker 4 (41:06):
Huh? Which it's gonna be. It's gonna be a couple
of them, huh. I don't think it's going to be
a collaborator.
Speaker 7 (41:12):
It's gonna have to be a defensive end by committee
right now, I think you just got a kind of
I mean to me, Dante Fowler, there's gonna be a
lot more expected from him to lead this group than
was twenty four hours ago. You're hoping Marshawneeland, you know,
pops out, That's who I'm looking at.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Rookie Donovan as.
Speaker 7 (41:37):
Roku who maybe, oh Lord could chill a little bit
twenty four hours ago if you will. Yeah, a second
round pick looks like it got a lot more important.
And I think our conversation that we had, like going
back to training camp and Michael was in practicing and
you were like, I think they have a lot of
confidence in what dominant is a rock who can do
(42:00):
and how that don't make that face because they gonna
that's what they when I was like, now, them using
him in his spots doesn't seem like, Oh, they're just
doing this because he's not here.
Speaker 9 (42:10):
They're doing it because he's permanently not gonna be here.
Speaker 8 (42:13):
If there's a possibility permanently is not no.
Speaker 9 (42:16):
But uh so for me, you know it's gonna sound crazy,
but hear me out, hear me out, hear me out,
I think who I'm looking at to step up. I mean,
Donovan is obviously someone that you're gonna be looking at.
I do think it is gonna take him some time
with certain things, but I do I will say I
think the marioovershown is like gonna be important when he
(42:37):
gets back on this very much.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
So hopefully gets back faster.
Speaker 9 (42:40):
And I wonder, I wonder we got to see him
do some past rushing type things. They use him as
a blitzer, but there are times that they did line
him up in that sea gap, and so I wonder
if that's something that they lean into because he's kind
of that wild card twitchy.
Speaker 8 (42:55):
We'll see how his body is when he returns. But
I do think that he might be a guy that you're.
Speaker 9 (43:01):
Leaning on or looking to make, you know, a jump,
because he is, to me, one of those guys that
you plan for. The teams were starting to have to
plan for because he was being utilized all over in
different stuff. So for me, that's going to be it.
And Donovan is Araku at this point, which.
Speaker 7 (43:18):
Sucks, But over shown is a is a game changer.
Michael Parsons is a game game chair right now.
Speaker 8 (43:24):
Don't see a game changer on the field.
Speaker 6 (43:28):
Well, they better because week one, six days.
Speaker 4 (43:32):
Figure it out, Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (43:35):
They were also brought up yesterday in the press conference
the Herschel Walker trade. You know, back in what nineteen
eighty nine, I wasn't alive, But yeah, fine, comparisons, yes,
and the Cowboys had some success obviously after that. But
you know, we will see as time goes on how
much the Cowboys have benefited from this trade.
Speaker 6 (43:57):
Who steps up, who doesn't? But but yeah, week one
is right around the corner, and.
Speaker 4 (44:02):
We gotta wrap up the show.
Speaker 6 (44:03):
It's gonna be a lot of fun this season. Well,
I don't know, is it.
Speaker 8 (44:05):
Well, I'm sure we're gonna be talking about it too again.
Speaker 6 (44:09):
Absolutely, Well, Monday, girls, Monday, what's to day? Girl? Today's Friday? Friday.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
But that's a wrap of today show. We gotta go
because they got another show today.
Speaker 6 (44:19):
All right, that's the girl?
Speaker 4 (44:20):
What that was her? I said? Nothing? This has been fun,
all right.
Speaker 6 (44:26):
We will be back here next week on Monday. The
Cowboys kick off the season.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
