Speaker 5 (00:41):
Thanksgiving is now over, but there's.
Speaker 6 (00:43):
A lot to be thankful for.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
How y'all doing good?
Speaker 6 (00:45):
A minute?
Speaker 7 (00:46):
That was?
Speaker 5 (00:47):
That was so much fun? Yeah, that was so much fun.
Speaker 8 (00:49):
We needed a full long holiday weekend to celebrate and relive.
Speaker 6 (00:54):
Yeah, y'all celebrate? Well, yeah we did.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (00:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (00:58):
By the time I got home after nine o'clock on
Thanksgiving after working the game, all the dishes had been
leaned and come away and save my plate and love
the microwave it and enjoy Thanksgiving.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
You bet you had a nice bio old plate right
before the game, like and then I came to the
game around like one ish.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Then I still ate there.
Speaker 6 (01:17):
It was pretty great. Yeah, great day for Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:19):
Yeah, Legends does a great job at the stadium putting
on a good spread. So thank you to George was
Sigh and his group for making it special for those
of us who have to work.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
Yeah, absolute appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
I know, the Cowboys had a nice little spread as well.
They had the mac and cheese, they had the yams
on the field, and I'm trying to.
Speaker 10 (01:34):
Make sure they had a little bit of every touching.
Speaker 6 (01:38):
You know, I don't like tech. Okay, I thought it's okay.
Speaker 8 (01:43):
It was cute though, because after the game, you know,
players go out in the field shake hands and everything.
And Tyler Booker was getting ready to head towards the
locker room and then they went and they grabbed him.
They handed him one of those silly turkey hats and
said get over here.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
So he was.
Speaker 8 (02:00):
He the offensive line and basically the entire starting offense
was on CBS with Tracy Wolfson enjoying the turkey and
of course Jake. Everybody's eating a turkey leg except for
Jake Ferguson, who puts his whole hand up that bird
going for the stuff. And I guess, but anyway, and
then just eating it like it would you know. Yeah,
(02:22):
that was like it was a piece of cotton candy.
Speaker 11 (02:24):
You know.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
Yeah that that was so fun.
Speaker 8 (02:26):
But to see what I one of my favorite memories
from that game will be the delight on Tyler Booker's face,
like me, I get to me and he sprinted over there.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
Man, he was ready to take part in it.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
People.
Speaker 8 (02:39):
But we forget you know that these players, especially the
ones who are who are new to it, you know,
they grow up watching this game and they see all
of that and then to get to be part of
something that was so special and just a great energy
and a lot of my homies showed up. You know,
a lot of red in the stadium, but it was
(03:00):
a really special atmosphere.
Speaker 10 (03:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
I can't forget about the guys who had are just
kind of new to the team as well that haven't
played a Thanksgiving Day game, you like Quinn Kenny Clark.
Speaker 6 (03:10):
A lot of excitement there.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
But the Cowboys get the win over the Kansas City
Chiefs were going to.
Speaker 12 (03:16):
Prove doubters wrong. Thirty one, twenty eighth the final.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
They're now six five and one in the season, one
three straight and you had everything from this defense continue
to stack really good performances like a Jadeveon Clowney with
a two SAT game. Demarvin Overshown of course stacking good
games this offense as well, Dak Prescott playing at a level,
an elite level. Just talk about you know, what was
(03:42):
the biggest takeaway for you, Ayisha in that win over
the Chance over the Chiefs.
Speaker 10 (03:47):
The biggest takeaway from I want to say, collectively this
last three games, you know, this three game streak that
Dallas has been on is the trenches.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
The emphasis on the trenches.
Speaker 10 (03:57):
These gentlemen have won the line of scrimming and the
majority of the game.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
In all of these games. And that's the difference.
Speaker 10 (04:04):
And I think that's so impressive given you know, the
short amount of time that these guys have to recover,
you know, the game planning, all of those things. I
just feel like that is the part that stands out
to me is that not only did they beat these
teams during this stretch, is that they haven't and they
obviously self the lines come up, they were able to
out physical them and to wear them out to where
(04:25):
you start getting into the fourth quarter and you see
obviously there's some guys and the Cowboys that are fatigued,
but the other team is far more fatigued. You turn
on the film, it's a lot of hands on guys hips,
a lot of huffing and puffing. Secondly, the thing that
stands out is the Clipboard Warriors came out to play.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
I call them the.
Speaker 10 (04:42):
Clipboard Warriors the coaches, because there are when you're in
a stretch like this, game planning is so important. You know,
the way that you time things, the way that you
do your install how these guys are absorbing information.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
And if you look within this Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 10 (04:55):
Game, there are things offensively that they were doing that
they were setting up last week against Philly, So there
was a lot of detail it felt like that went
into this game plan. Even on the other side Ebra Flus,
they gained plan for this game, and you know, during
this time a lot of time game plans mesh and
you kind of have to, you know, roll it to
the next week. I thought they did a fantastic job
(05:16):
still mixing things up and being versatile. So to me,
the Clipboard Warriors stand out, and this team being ready
to play and being incredibly physical despite fatigue.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
And not having enough time to recover.
Speaker 10 (05:28):
It shows how inspired they were and also too that
they really took this stretch seriously.
Speaker 8 (05:33):
Christy, Yeah, yeah, I think the Malik Davis touchdown run
clipboard wars there, but also went to your point of
you know, making the blocks Booker, who we talked about
a moment ago, a good block there, and then I
totally agree.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
With you, Ayesha. And the one thing I would add is.
Speaker 8 (05:53):
I wouldn't say so much unexpected but recent returners or
guys making their their debuts. You mentioned overshown, but what
savone Revel has meant what? Yeah, and a guy like
Malik Davis who was unemployed three and a half months
ago and then making you know, the most arguably unknown
guy on the field at the time making the forty
(06:15):
three yard touchdown run and showing out on Thanksgiving Day
in front of what almost fifty million people watching on TV.
So I think that stands out as well. And it's
something that Brian Schottenheimer talked about yesterday in his Sunday
press conference, was about Revel. What he's done has really
(06:35):
allowed them to do some things with their fronts and
the rest of the defense because of how well that
he's come in and played.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yeah, no, that actually the way that they that Eberflus
is going to be able to scheme up, things will
possibly or possibly not change considering he does get maybe
a Trayvon Diggs back potentially, but no. Still talking about
this game, though, my biggest takeaway was probably Dak Prescott.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, Like he's been awesome man. You
(07:02):
talk about even this offensive line he gave credit to
where credit was just saying that, you know, they've blocked enough,
blocked well enough for me to be able to make
things happen. But when you just look at that film,
like sometimes they're not and he's literally having to roll
out make stuff happen out of nothing. And granted he
does have the pieces to get there, like CD, like
(07:22):
George Pickens, but George didn't really show up to like
that third drive of the game, I believe in the
second half.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Yeah, I had a couple of drops early, had a.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Couple of drops early, but no, I mean Dak Prescott man,
Like even the first drive of the game, the turnover
which was the interception, and for them to come down,
come back and drive down the field from their own
twenty five like that, that was what's my biggest takeaway.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Yeah, and it's when they're backed up.
Speaker 8 (07:48):
You know, it's like, which is a good field position? Kevi,
it's ninety two yards to go and golly it's and
we're like, no problem, they got this.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Yeah, So imagine what they could do on shorter fields.
Speaker 10 (07:59):
You know, that's something that's been stressing me out as
of late, is special teams wise. You know, this offense
is having to operate down the field. And to your
point of call, I think that does make Dak Prescott's
performance that much more impressive because the control.
Speaker 6 (08:15):
That you have to have backed up and.
Speaker 10 (08:17):
You're going up against you know, you go up against
a Vic Fangio defense and then you go up against ah,
why why is his name Spagnolo?
Speaker 6 (08:28):
Spagnolo?
Speaker 10 (08:28):
I don't know why his name was escaped me. And
then you go up against the Steve Spagnolo's defense, and
you know, there's so many different moving parts and you know,
to your point, I thought that he handled the blitz
incredibly well, I think, I want to say, I want
to make sure I have his numbers pulled up the
way that he handled the blitz, he read the blitz well,
there were times I thought that he maneuvered in the
pocket fantastically.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
One thing about Dak.
Speaker 10 (08:51):
Prescott, you can tell very early on what he's feeling
like with his footwork. Early in this game, I was
worried about his mechanics, but he stayed true to his
mechanics even when there was pressure in his face, even
when he knew that he was going to take a hit.
There were times he was releasing the ball as he
was getting hit and he still is following through. So
you know, I think this is the veteran the ten year.
(09:12):
You know, Dak Prescott. That that ball that he threw
where he escaped the pocket, you see him kind of
turned at the Tony Romo turn and kind of spin out.
And that that that two point conversion that he threw
to Pickens on the move with the with the toe tap,
and I mean, just ventish Dak rolling out to your
left and throwing that dime.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
He was on the money. I agree with you.
Speaker 10 (09:32):
I think this is one of his best performances of
the year, which is hard to do. And to your point,
to go up against this defense and have to you know,
not make mistakes and to have these guys confidence to
go downfield.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
I think he just exuded that.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Against pressure ten of twelve for one hundred and eight yards,
two touchdowns, an interception, but he did not take a sack.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
So I think those are some good numbers.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
Okay, I don't know, maybe a little bit.
Speaker 8 (09:59):
Yeah, but but you know, I would just say one
other thing is credit the aggressive play.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Calling as well. When we talk about some of these
long drives and everything.
Speaker 8 (10:07):
It's not just oh, you're backed up near your goal line,
so let's hand it off twice and it's like no,
let's throw a bomb to CD.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (10:15):
Yeah, So but that's trusting your quarterback and knowing that
he can handle it. And let's also credit the Javante
Williams of the world and people like that who help
with picking up on the blitzes and things like that.
But yeah, I love your point, Ayisha about that dime
to Pickens and then the spin and just you know,
the getting rid of it to Javante for the three
(10:38):
yard touchdown pass was very mahomes the end it will
and then throwing the dime to Pickens.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Great play by Pickens too.
Speaker 8 (10:46):
I mean, that's one of those stretch armstrong inspector gadget
arm kind of deal to go out and pluck that pass.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
But yeah, that was really impressive.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
I remember last year we were sitting up here in
here talking about they couldn't really finished games or didn't
have I won't say heart enough to finish, but they
just couldn't figure out how to finish games down the stretch.
And the way that the like they've come a long
way is what I'm bet it's.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (11:12):
But here's the thing. What happened to Philadelphia and to
Kansas City. They both shot themselves in the freaking foot
in the second half in the last two Cowboys games. What
did the Cowboys do avoid those huge penalties and mistakes
for the most part and then overcome that initial interception
(11:33):
where the Blitz did get the offense and credit CD
Lamb for the breakup on what might have been a
second interception. That was Nick Bolton right the linebacker who
nearly had it, and CD went from receiver to defender there,
because that would have been a very different game. If
Kansas City had gotten not takeaway and potentially done something
(11:56):
with it, you know, Cowboys would have been in a
deep hole there. So you know, everything went right for
the Cowboys. They didn't shoot themselves in the foot and
the other teams did. And you don't expect that necessarily
from the two teams that competed in the Super Bowl
last year. But Cowboys benefited from it. And here you
(12:17):
are three game winning streak and a chance to surpass
the Lions, you know, with a huge game on Thursday,
with so many implications.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
You talk about penalties. How about Cede Lamb drawn a
couple of pis as well to move the sticks. But
a bounce back game for CD is Why are you laughing?
Speaker 12 (12:36):
What's funny?
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Why are you chuggling?
Speaker 12 (12:38):
I just love it.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
Because I love it because expect to see more of it. Oh,
absolutely expect to see more of it on.
Speaker 10 (12:44):
Both sides with both of those guys like McDuffie is
one of the best corners in football.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
And the panic. That's the thing about this offense.
Speaker 10 (12:54):
And to your point, Christy, I want to say that
I think that the Dallas offense is so stressed.
Speaker 6 (13:01):
It's so incredibly stressful, you see.
Speaker 10 (13:03):
I mean again, even with a coordinator Likeulo, we're watching
them like really well Spagnola rather really go through trying
to figure out what's gonna work with these two guys.
And then you got third and then you just have Flerinoyd.
That's just consistent, like he's efficient. When they throw the
ball to him nine times out of ten he's catching it.
That's just so much stress on a defense. Girl, go ahead,
(13:25):
No my bad?
Speaker 6 (13:26):
Uh was my point?
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Oh ceede Lamb sorry, bounce that game for him. I know,
the second drop of the game. He was targeted on
third down three times, caught all three passes on the
third downs. But just an elite I mean shoddy also
talking about the fact that he had that look in
his eye.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Yeah, was there any doubt that's it's going to dominate?
Speaker 8 (13:44):
No? Absolutely, no way that he was answering the having
to answer the questions last week after what for him
was a disappointing game. You know, it was a win
over Philadelphia. He knew that he had some drops, he
didn't play well, and you see him kind of poudy
at the end of the game, even though it's to
win and it's like, oh, somebody gonna pay for this.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
He made people pay and certainly happier in postgame. You know,
you got to hear from him talking about I saw
everybody's comments, I saw what everybody has to say, and
y'all felt me. But just talk about what drive of
the game was the turning point for you ladies that
y'all knew. Okay, this was a game that the Cowboys
could get.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
M Wow, I didn't.
Speaker 8 (14:23):
To me, the Malik Davis touchdown was like, oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
Shot, it was cooking you hear me that that was
that was it for you?
Speaker 5 (14:32):
For me personally, but I don't know what do you
think for me? Maybe second hand?
Speaker 10 (14:38):
No, it was it. It was it was the bomb.
To CD, I said, oh uh huh.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
There we go.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
They gotta go. They feel they feel away, you.
Speaker 10 (14:45):
Know, like because you and that in that moment you're
You're like when you going up because of my homes,
You're nine times out of ten trying to play keep boy.
It's interesting because I think people are trying to play
keypway from you now, but I think you're trying to
play keep away and for Dallas to be like, nah,
like we want to stay aggress except to Christie's point,
we want to stay aggressive.
Speaker 6 (15:02):
It's there. That's one thing that to your point in
the call.
Speaker 10 (15:04):
Earlier about how well Dad Prescott played, he took what
the defense gave him and baby if he saw.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
George picking's a CD.
Speaker 10 (15:13):
Lamb one on one on somebody he felt I couldn't
guard them, which was pretty much nobody.
Speaker 6 (15:17):
He was tossing that thing.
Speaker 10 (15:18):
And I mean again, like I appreciate their their ability to.
Speaker 6 (15:23):
Kind of put the nail in the coffin. I know
that sounds bad.
Speaker 10 (15:27):
I think it goes back to your point in the
code about last year saying like they can't close out
on they can't close out games. They seem close, they
come out to sluggish. In the second half, you can
see them put the foot their foot on the gas
and games, and it's so awesome because it's balanced because
a lot of teams can't like, don't get a twisted.
Kansas City did a pretty good job bottling up the
(15:47):
run early in this game. There were you know, Dallas
wasn't getting much on the ground, but they just.
Speaker 6 (15:53):
Stick to it.
Speaker 10 (15:54):
They do they stick to it until it works, and
then when it works, then really from there you can
just do whatever you want to do.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
And I thought that's what they did in the second half.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
Of the game, because it's play action, right, I mean,
they have to respect the run to set up play action.
And this is the most we've ever seen dak under
center in his career.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Yeah, heavy play action in this game.
Speaker 10 (16:14):
That was something that you know stood out in this game,
and I'm excited about that, especially even going into this
next week because you got another team that is very
heavy play action, so your defense has at least a
look see at kind of like what that is to
deal with the.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
Offense like that.
Speaker 10 (16:28):
But to your point, yeah, a lot of play action
really trying to set I felt like Shoddy really was
trying to set things up this game.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Yeah, and good point about the run game because I
remember at halftime I looked at it.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
I was like, dang, only seventy two rushing yards.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
But you can't look at the numbers honestly with this
team because they're just getting a couple of yards, but
sticking with it, like you mentioned, because that's all they
need to set up the play action. But my drive
of the game was probably Javonte's touchdown. Of course, kept
off by the two point conversion, but.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
That's when Pickens had that hurdle on second.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
And age, so sick that was right in front of me.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
Yeah really, oh yeah, yeah, that was like the Pickens drive.
Speaker 12 (17:05):
It was, Yeah, he had two catches.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I believe on that drive of course two point conversion,
but he really set up that touchdown for Jamonte Williams.
Speaker 12 (17:12):
At that point, I'm like, okay.
Speaker 10 (17:14):
Yes, because you got closers. Yeah, Like Pickens shows up
in these big moments. You got CD Like, you got
guys that in these moments where you're like I need
for my guy to be better than that guy. You
got guys to do that.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
And when you talk.
Speaker 10 (17:28):
About Pickens, like all the way around, I think this
was one of the best. Going back and look at
the film, I thought this was one of the best
games from the wide receiver Corps as far as a
usage standpoint and how they meshed and like what made
sense in that moment, Like even I just thought like
the way that they were setting things even like like
(17:48):
you said, the Pickens drive, Yeah, they like how many
times have we been in games and we've been like,
he's unguardabled, just keep giving it to him.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
They can't stop it.
Speaker 10 (17:58):
That's what you're doing football, So they stop it, you
keep doing it. This team hasn't always done that. This
team has sometimes gotten conservative. Sometimes this team has been like,
oh well, this guy haven't gotten touches, and like we
don't care. If they can't stop it, then you keep
doing it. And it was awesome to see Shoddy and
Dak and those guys just go at the Lord.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
Have mercy on McDuffie.
Speaker 13 (18:21):
He didn't deserve that he gave him.
Speaker 8 (18:24):
Yeah, yeah, sure, but you got to cry for him.
Speaker 10 (18:29):
But definitely the worst game of you know, his young career,
and it just and to your point in Agow, I
felt like, I think that's so dope that Pickens kind.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Of had off start a little bit.
Speaker 10 (18:40):
A couple of drops, and but he comes out and
finishes the game. CD does everything in the first half
and then Pickens is like, all right, I got you,
big bro.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
And then they mess at the end.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
How about ting, Yeah, I'm recovery.
Speaker 10 (18:52):
Shout out to you, Turping that part that shout out
to Turp because we know we've been kind of I've
been kind of hard on you, bless you kind.
Speaker 8 (19:00):
Of Yeah, yeah that was And and here's the thing.
What did we see last week in the locker room?
Was Cavante Turpin sitting at his locker with this huge
ice pack on his left shoulder. I mean, he's been
playing hurt for a few weeks now, and yet he's
the one.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
It was a hustle play.
Speaker 8 (19:20):
And other than George Pickens, the only Cowboy in the
vicinity that had any chance of getting at that ball
was Cavante Turpin because he continued to hustle the whole play,
and when that ball came out, he went from fast
to warp speed and got on that ball. Because as
soon as the ball came out, I'm like, oh my god,
they're going to get it.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
And Patrick Mahomes go lead a game when he touched down.
Speaker 8 (19:42):
And within that millisecond of Turpin getting on it. But
what a what a huge hustle play. And what do
they say in football, good things happen when you hustle
towards the ball, and that was and that was encapsulated
by Turpin on that fumble recover.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
And let's also give a shout.
Speaker 8 (20:01):
Out to Junior Adams, right, the wide receivers coach. It's
his first year with the Cowboys, and because all the
people that you mentioned, you know, it's contributions from everybody.
Speaker 13 (20:12):
You in my notes, give Junior Adams some love. Verbatim Man,
I agree with Christy, this is one of the guys
that isn't getting you know, we haven't talked about him much,
but when you talk about what this receiver corps is
doing and the balance that exists there, we've seen Ryan
Flinoyd take an uptick obviously.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
To picking standards. I'm sure everyone standards. He's having the
best season of his career.
Speaker 10 (20:38):
Cede Limb is continuing the season he was having last year.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
So I do.
Speaker 10 (20:43):
I think these gentlemen are getting some fantastic coaching and
that's showing as well.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Junior Adams has done a great job.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
Junior Adams, this entire and coaching staff, but specifically on
the defensive side of the ball, because we got to
show them some love. Sure they held the Chief scoreless
for two quarters, but on that note, we're going to
take our first break up next to the defensive side
of the ball here on Grosstalg Boys Stock.
Speaker 7 (21:04):

Appreciate it, Chris, Cowboys of course defensively continuing to build
weekend week after week out.
Speaker 12 (24:19):
Talking about Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
That is one of the most elusive quarterbacks in the NFL,
and he played pretty much elite twenty three completions for
two hundred and sixty one yards for touchdowns, absolutely carving
extending drives for the Chiefs. But you know who played better.
Who had a better day in the office The Stallus defense. Hello,
three sacks on the day, pressuring with him when he
(24:43):
needed to as well.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
Talk about this defense.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
I feel like we've of course we say it every
week because the first what nine weeks of the season,
they it wasn't the best, but they've certainly turned it
up a notch. Jadeveon Clowney, this defensive ends.
Speaker 12 (24:57):
Have certainly improved.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Quentin Williams has been the factor of how this defense
has taken that next step as well.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
Are you sure what you got?
Speaker 10 (25:08):
Well, well, they got off al fussing the other day,
but they got off the field on third down.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (25:13):
You know that's something that Dallas has struggled that. I
heard Shoddy talk about it yesterday.
Speaker 6 (25:16):
He's like, it's weird.
Speaker 10 (25:18):
It's weird because they're getting teams in a lot of
third and lungs. And they did the same thing with
Kansas City on Thursday, so that they got Kansas City
and quite a few third and lungs and they just
couldn't overcome it. I thought that the biggest thing for
me was, you know, we got to give Matt Eberflus
a lot of love. You know, we've I know that
I've been critical of just kind of how things were going.
(25:38):
I feel like we stated here on the show is
that I think he kind of got the ingredients and
now he cooking a little bit more like you were
just saying, Nicole, you know, kind of ready, ready in
the middle of that defense and getting that pressure. That's
making your secondary, you know, that's making your secondary be
able to do more. He threw the kitchen sink at
Patrick Mahomes too. I mean, they did so many different fronts.
(26:00):
They obviously they did the five man looks, they did
a couple of four man looks. They had some nickel
blitzes from Reddy Stewart, They had the linebacker spying at times.
Speaker 6 (26:08):
They played some nickel.
Speaker 10 (26:10):
I mean, they really tried to trip up this quarterback
because this is a very smart quarterback, and they did.
There were times where he was holding onto the ball longer.
Obviously he had to scramble. I feel like this defense
is starting to obviously get into a rhythm. But Matt
Eberflus is deploying these guys in different ways, a good
(26:31):
mixture of man in zone. You know, these guys are
getting oppressed, get their hands on guys a little bit more,
be physical at the line of scrimmage. So to your
point earlier about maybe getting Trayvon digs back, I think.
Speaker 6 (26:41):
This scheme and kind of how things are.
Speaker 10 (26:43):
He will fit into kind of what they want to do,
hopefully better than kind of how it looked at the
beginning of the year.
Speaker 8 (26:50):
Chrissy, Yeah, I just think it shows that it's a
players league and once you get some guys and get
some pieces, Yeah, yeah, exactly. So you know all the
heat that Iberflus was taken from fans and media early
in the season, right once you yeah, exactly, yet as well,
yeah sure, but but once you get the players and
(27:12):
then he can do all of these things, and I
think Ayisha's on the mark there was able to mix
mix things up. And you know, as as much as
Patrick Mahomes, what he does on the move is so
much a part of his game throughout his career. What's
different to me, and even against Jalen Hurts, it's that
when this team is in pursuit and and I'm including
(27:34):
Clowney here, you know, at his AARP advanced stage, and
yet they're still closing on I can say that because
I'm twice as old as Clowny, but but you know,
they're they're closing, right, They're closing on him. And it's
not just the young guys like as Roku that are
de marveon overshown with his speed and and and and
(27:55):
it's solid tackling. That's the main thing, is emitdying a
lot of the yards after contact.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Is it perfect?
Speaker 8 (28:04):
No, But for the most part, it's flipped the script
where it's the Cowboys who were getting the yards after
contact and the opponents basically the defense shutting them down
because earlier in the season or at the midpoint, you know,
that's it was exactly opposite.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Yeah, and I thought, honestly, like I didn't think this
was the best tackling game for them, but enough enough
to get the guys absolutely, so it's pursuit right, yeah,
and you know the guys being there to help right
like that. I think it was that clowney second sack
where Quinn Williams literally had my homes but I think
(28:41):
he faked him out a little.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
Bit and then it went.
Speaker 12 (28:45):
Almost sliding.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
But no, there were so many almost That's what Patrick
had tweeted.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
I love the word he said.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
It was so many almost in that game, which I mean,
to go up against the Super Bowl team like that
and hold them.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
To like I said, what thirty on third down?
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Yeah, in two quarters scoreless like five or thirteen.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
Five down, it was impressive.
Speaker 10 (29:08):
Well, I mean, I love that you brought up the
tackling part of it, because when I went back and
watched the game, I felt the same way as well.
The beginning of this game, you know, Kansas City City,
when they came out in their script, they really created
a lot of spacing to west for the Cowboys, and
that's given Dallas some trouble this year playing the flats.
You know, the linebackers coming down the corners taking good
(29:28):
pursuit angles when they're having to come down and tackle,
that's given Down some trouble. So I want to say
earlier in that game, I did feel like the tackling
wasn't up to par.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
But to your point, Christy, as.
Speaker 10 (29:39):
The game went on, it did get better, for sure,
and you did see you know, the rally to the ball,
the hustle to the ball, and also to I initially
thought that maybe some of the tackling, especially in spots,
was you know, guys fatigued, especially as you get into
the third fourth quarter of the week that they were having.
But I mean, Christy, I think you make a great
point about I think tackling is going to be important
(30:00):
in this game coming up in a couple of days,
so you need to be tackling better than that. But
Savannravel is somebody that I want to definitely makes to
make sure that I savone ratherville. I want to make
sure that I highlight his play man. How exciting is
it to see him come out and be confident. I
mean when you look at you know, players like Xavier Worthy,
(30:22):
these speed guys. You can see him carrying these guys.
He's creating a lot of small windows. I mean, his
body naturally creates a lot of small windows like he's
He's such he has such length that I do think
that quarterbacks are going to struggle with where to place
the ball with him because he really, in comparison to
some of these receivers, he he takes up a lot
(30:44):
of space. I think that he is still getting some
experience and reacting quicker to some of those shorter throws
at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 6 (30:52):
But he is so tough and just a cornerback.
Speaker 10 (30:55):
You know, when you think about a cornerback, you look
at how he deals with the press. He's physical, He's
not afraid to get his hands on guys. I like
his ability to still turn and run, and I just
keep an eye on him because I feel like his
his ability and if he's able to kind of steady
one side of that defense, I mean, look out. I
mean some of these you know, Dallas didn't get didn't
(31:17):
get really any sacks in this game, if I'm not mistaken,
But they did. They got they got three three got
three sacks in this game. Two of those sacks were
covered sacks, sacks. Two those sacks were covered sacks. And
so that, to me, that says a lot about this
Kansas City offense that is so unpredictable. Pat Mahomes is
a guy that can make something out of nothing, and
they have guys on the back end, you know, they're
(31:38):
they're not just like, don't get me wrong, like Juju Smith.
Shuster is someone that people aren't really like clamoring over,
but he's still a guy that can catch passes. And Dallas,
I thought, you know, played one of their better games
defensively in coverage and uh savone Revel was a big
part of that.
Speaker 6 (31:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
Yeah, the way the exact phrase that Shotenhaimer used yesterday
and talking about Revel was tying up receivers doing a
great job of tying up receivers. And that goes back
to what he said earlier in the press conference when
asked why is the defense better on third downs over
the past few games, and he says, it is tighter
(32:14):
coverage and it affects the quarterbacks and they have to
make the tighter throws and you know, while also being
under more pressure from the front seven. So combine all
those things together and yeah, it the third down has
improved dramatically.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
Now we're already since we're already talking about savone rebels
cornerbacks in this room. The Cowboys did activate Trey Von
Diggs's twenty one day practice window yesterday, so he was
out at practice Christy, you got a chance to see
him up close first.
Speaker 8 (32:49):
Yeah, but we we didn't get to see him do
any of the like real defensive drills other than the
group work the position work, so didn't see him really
go against any receivers in the life.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
But he looked like he was moving around.
Speaker 6 (33:01):
Well.
Speaker 8 (33:02):
The one thing is Clowney was working in the end
zone with the on the resistance cord with the director
of Rehabilitation, Britt Brown. But you know, I don't know
that he's going to like show up necessarily, well, may
show up is limited on an injury report this week
if that continues. But I think that just maybe the
(33:23):
fact three games in twelve is managing all that kind
of thing. Hopefully it's more of a management kind of thing.
Speaker 6 (33:28):
Lord, I was concerned.
Speaker 10 (33:29):
Yeah, I mean I tweeted about it where I was like,
I'm keeping eye on this because he's.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Been he's been, it's been important.
Speaker 6 (33:34):
He's been incredibly important.
Speaker 10 (33:37):
And just to see him play the run is one
of the most It's fun because you see him reading
the offense, you see the know how in the experience,
and I think, you know, again we talked about earlier
in this season, one of the losses that isn't talked
about enough is the Marcus Lawrence. It's like, it doesn't
matter how you feel about him. He was still one
(33:58):
of the best edge defending in the NFL last year,
in the year before that, even against the run, and
you know, you kind of replaced that with Clowney, and
I think that that's that's huge for this defense Dallas
since the trade deadline, I wanted to go ahead and
run the defensive numbers.
Speaker 6 (34:14):
Their opponents are are.
Speaker 10 (34:16):
Their twelfth in opponents points per game, twenty fourth in
yards per pass yards per game, my bad, and then
second in rush yards per game, and they're also eighth
in sacks. So I mean, you see the improvements that
I mean the rush yards per game. Teams are having
to pass the ball on you. It's not that they're
just passing, and you see them having good pass yards.
(34:38):
So that to me is inddictive in the numbers as well,
is that teams in this third three game stretch they
are having to pass the ball because you are really
really choking the run.
Speaker 6 (34:49):
And then also too, you.
Speaker 10 (34:50):
Look at the sacks, you look at the ability to
get to the quarterback a little bit more. That's something
that Dallas hasn't been doing well. So that points per
game really stands out as well. You know, you go
from being literally like worse the it's one.
Speaker 8 (35:00):
Of the words twelve.
Speaker 10 (35:02):
And you know, and I know that some people are
still kind of worried. I mean, a three game sample
size is a good sample size. I think this line's
game will let us know for real, like we're finding
out who this team is in real time, you know,
I feel like that's what I feel like. I feel
like we're finding out who this team is, what they're
made of in real time, and whatever happens. I'm excited
(35:22):
about the fact that they are establishing an identity here
in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
And you said three game stretch might be a sample size,
but at this point of the season, I think it
actually kind of carries a little bit more weight, just
because first, what five weeks, teams are still trying to
figure themselves out. Hell, we were trying to figure ourselves out.
And so now you have teams probably playing their best
right now or of course they're.
Speaker 6 (35:46):
Banged up, whichever the two.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
So yeah, I think it says a lot about this
Dallas team when you think about this. Was one of
the biggest questions I was asked in postgame was Okay,
you guys have rattled off three straight wins beat.
Speaker 5 (36:00):
Two Super Bowl champion teams.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
What does it say or what kind of message does
this send to the NFL? And you know, got a
chance to hear from some of the guys, but I
want to know, like, what's y'all's input on what message
does this send to the NFL to other teams in
the NFL.
Speaker 8 (36:14):
Well, I think it's more the way that that the
guys responded to the question, and that is, Hey, there's
it's still the company. It's just setting us up for
what's to come, you know, not resting on your laurels
of what you've accomplished.
Speaker 6 (36:26):
But hey, now now.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
It's the time that's coming.
Speaker 8 (36:29):
So does that make sense, like focusing on what's ahead
instead of celeb you know, oh yeah, now we're here.
It's like, well, let's see I can do the next thing.
Speaker 6 (36:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (36:39):
I think the message that his sense is, you know,
people already knew that your offense was potent, but your
defense coming along really does to me make you a
stressful team to go up against. You know, you're you're
becoming a team where it's not there's not that much
room for error, especially with the offense being on that
side of the ball. Another thing too, one another thing
(37:00):
too that this defense has done.
Speaker 6 (37:01):
Better is take the ball away.
Speaker 10 (37:03):
That's something that coming in with Matt ebraflush you expect.
You know, that's kind of his track record, is that
his defenses take the ball away. And that's something that
we hadn't seen at the beginning of the year, but
you know, that's something that we're starting to see more
consistently from this defense. As well, and you're giving this
ball back to this offense on a short field. That's
(37:25):
a really tough situation to be in for opposing defenses.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Yeah, I think the message that it sends is and
I can't remember who it was, so I'm not going
to point it out, but one of the players in
the postgame was like, we can compete with some of
the best in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
It's absolutely true, Which.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Is absolutely true, and even to you know, like like
I said, with the offense last year would have been
a whole different ballgame if you know, we were talking
about a twenty twenty fourteen because of course, your offense
gives you a short field throwing that interception. Having to
defend a short field against the Kansas City Chiefs huge problem.
They give up two scores on the first two opening
(37:59):
drives for Kansas City and still force what four straight
punts on those next drive. So I think it's also
the resiliency that this Eberflus defense has started to play
with as well. We're going to take our second break
here on Girls Boys Talk and dive a little bit
more into this Trayvon Diggs news being back, and of
course the Cowboys have signed a new running back to practice.
Speaker 5 (38:21):

Welcome back in a Girls Stock boystock presented by Visit
Line in the SWC Studio. Nicole Hutchison, Ayisha Morrison, Christy
Scales and Ladies Cowboys have added a new addition to
the practice squad, Israel a Banacanada to the Practice Squad.
Like I said, former Fifth Round pick played at pitt
Of course, the Cowboys have had interest in him since
(41:41):
back in twenty twenty three when he was drafted. So
just talk about, you know, the new addition. And honestly,
I mean, yeah, I guess I'll start with this one.
This is an indictment on Jayden Blue. Let's just talk
about it. I don't want to we ain't got that one.
A wee bit, get straight.
Speaker 6 (41:57):
To it, a wee bit.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
Yeah, yeah, because you have a Lee Davis that has
certainly emerged as you're running back to of course stacking
good games. But Jaden Blue was expected to be that
potential running back too here for.
Speaker 5 (42:13):
The Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
But yeah, it does.
Speaker 10 (42:15):
So you say, yeah, well they're looking for Yeah, they're
looking for some explosion. I think that there's some I
mean the way this offensive line is starting to really
work and get to the second level and some of
the stuff that's happening, like I think Dallas is and
I think that's why Malee Davis is getting burned because
they want somebody that can you know, they Javonte the
season is long. Javonte is you know, very physical, taking
(42:38):
a lot of physicality. But they need another guy to
threaten the defense from a more shifty speed perspective.
Speaker 6 (42:45):
And Israel being a kind of fits that.
Speaker 10 (42:48):
I mean, twenty touchdowns his last year at Pittsburgh. He's
kind of bounced all over the place. I know with
the Jets running back room. I remember, you remember last.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
Year it was like four deep. It was so any guys.
Speaker 10 (43:00):
They just wire harvesting running backs, and he was one
of the gentlemen that kind of got the short end
of the stick there.
Speaker 6 (43:06):
He's kind of just been bouncing.
Speaker 10 (43:08):
This is a crazy athlete with insane, you know, breakaway speed.
When he is able to get in the open field,
he can capture the edge, just a lot of like
drive when he puts his foot in the ground. I mean,
he's not the he's not the biggest guy, but if
you watch him when he was in Pittsburgh, he was
a guy that could take on some physicality and can
run through between the tackles as well. But this is
(43:30):
an explosive player, and he was an explosive player. So
I wonder how Dallas decides to use him, if they
do decide to bring him in.
Speaker 6 (43:36):
But just a good depth piece for.
Speaker 10 (43:38):
Now, and I'm glad that they made her move with
the running back position because we haven't heard anything about
Phil MafA either. So if you're trying to go on
this run, you need another back. It's about to get cold.
Speaker 6 (43:51):
You know.
Speaker 10 (43:51):
Javonte has to be able to take breaks sometimes like
he does. And I think you know, Dallas is searching
for that guy. I think that's why Malik Davis is
getting opportunity too.
Speaker 8 (44:00):
Yeah, and more of a complimentary turn. You mentioned MafA
because he's more of a physical kind of guy, right,
and more of a speed guy. But the thing when
Cowboys fans, at least those of us who remember.
Speaker 5 (44:15):
Seventies and eighties Cowboys.
Speaker 8 (44:17):
When you hear a writing back from Pitt, what's the
first thing you think of Tony dor Set? Well, this,
Abandoncanada actually broke Tony dor Set's record at Pitt, not
for like total yards but single game. Dorset had had
the record for like forty years, single game record like
three hundred and six rushing yards, and Abandon Canada actually
(44:38):
had three hundred and twenty rushing yards in the game.
So if you can break one of Tony Dorset's college records,
you must have something going for you. But yeah, he
was a He's from Brooklyn, New York and was a
track star there and everything.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
So to Ayesh's point about his elite speed.
Speaker 4 (44:54):
And you need somebody to like I usould mention alleviate
Gavonte Williams.
Speaker 6 (44:58):
I'll say Jaden Javonte.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Williams, especially at this point of the season. But Javonte
close to what he has hit a career high nine
hundred and fifty five rushing yards on the season, forty
five more to hit his one thousand yard mark. But yeah,
I think that's it's gonna be tough because now you
have a Davis who is you know, emerging as potentially
that running back to position.
Speaker 5 (45:21):
You need to see a little bit more from Jayden.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
The biggest thing about him, which we've heard from Shoddy
talk about it, We've heard from Clayton Adams as well
talk about it, is understanding the physicality at this NFL level,
and that's something that hopefully Jaden Blue does.
Speaker 8 (45:36):
Yeah, and look, it's special teams, Okay, it's special teams
as well. Yeah, and if you are not the starting
running back for an NFL team, you have to contribute
on special teams.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
And he's not the.
Speaker 8 (45:48):
Primary returner for the Cowboys because you have Cavante Turpin.
So if you're not the primary returner, if you and
you're not the starting running back, you have to be
in coverage and Malik Davis is better at that than him,
and Malite Davis is the personal protector on the punt
(46:08):
coverage because je Ye Thomas is on is on n
f I with migraines non football injury. So you know,
you there's only so many active among the fifth You
have fifty three on the roster, but you have to
have either five or six in active game day, and
(46:29):
if you're not on coverage units, then that's why, you know,
really one of the main reasons why Jayden's not playing.
Speaker 10 (46:36):
It's also true that's good to know, but I think
Dallas is also trying to take advantage. You know, you
got teams really again you talked about early, talked about
the wide receivers earlier teams are it's really like damned
if you do, damned if you don't. And Dallas is like, well,
if you're gonna be damned, we're gonna drag you even
further with the run.
Speaker 6 (46:54):
But it's yeah, the defenses have to make decisions.
Speaker 10 (46:58):
You can't drop all these guys in coverage should try
to stop the passing game and then just ignore that
this offensive line is moving guys off the ball. Tyler Booker,
I thought had his best game of the season, and
it had a fantastic stretch as well, So I was like, yeah,
I think Dallas is trying to figure out how they
can be explosive, just as explosive in the run game.
And not to say that Javonte Williams doesn't have any
(47:20):
you know, good runs. He does, it's just those some
of those breakaway you know, really really put your foots
with Malie Davis.
Speaker 6 (47:27):
You're getting something. You literally just in our I formation
kind of have some guys staggered. I saw. I mean
Brevin span Ford.
Speaker 10 (47:33):
Had Ford had a hell of a game blocking on
the interior and inline. Man, I think Dallas is trying
to figure some things out. If they're gonna go on
this run.
Speaker 12 (47:42):
Well they're figuring things out.
Speaker 4 (47:43):
We are gonna figure some things out and break down
this film tomorrow. Cowboys, Lions Are You're excited?
Speaker 6 (47:49):
I'm scared? Huh, Well, Gibbs because out a motion and
running it's dizzy. Yeah, like I ain't in to move
all that.
Speaker 8 (47:59):
Got you got hours you gotta take dramamine before you
watch their films.
Speaker 6 (48:04):
That's a compliment.
Speaker 5 (48:06):
No, it's it is.
Speaker 6 (48:07):
It's a compliment. Well on dream, Are you ready?
Speaker 5 (48:10):
I'm ready?
Speaker 12 (48:13):
Absolutely not really, I'm scared.
Speaker 4 (48:16):

at eight am on Girls Talk, Boys Talk, presented by
a Basiline.
