Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hawks Live presented by the Dining District at the Bellevue
Collection at Bellevue Square Center Court, every Thursday from seven
to nine, live on air on Seattle Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
No.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
If you're your host, Michael Bumpis and Paul Moyer.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Welcome back to Hawks Live presented by the Bellvue Collection
on Michael Bompas here at Bellvy Square Center Court every Thursday,
well the next two thursdays. I should say, Man, it's
been a long season. We had a couple weeks off,
but now we are back.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Man.

Speaker 5 (00:29):
Lots has happened since the last time we.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Got together with our people here at Bellevue Square. Man,
the Hawks have been They've been on a losing streak
and as of late, they lost to the San Francisco Forward. No, sorry,
the Cowboys. We got to the Ford Dowartis next. They lost
to the Cowboys, and the offense did some things. Man,
nine to fourteen on third down. Actually, let me back up, Moyer.
How you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Man?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I got right into it. I even saying with something
to my man's man, how you doing, Moyer?

Speaker 6 (00:56):
Well, we've been out hanging out already prepping for this thing.

Speaker 7 (00:59):
I'm good. It was a good trip.

Speaker 6 (01:01):
Went to Dallas for the game, really thought, damn we
were gonna win that game. Felt good about it going
into it as well. And we should have won that game, Bump.
I mean we actually we probably should have beat them
by twenty one points.

Speaker 7 (01:14):
There.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
We just the some key plays, three fourth down plays
that we should have executed on. One of them would
have probably won the game. We were up five points
at that time. I thought we just did some really
good things offensively. But now, Bump, and it was good
to see my grandkids, my kids.

Speaker 7 (01:32):
That was fun.

Speaker 6 (01:33):
But now we got we got a team of forty
nine ers. That man, they're playing at another level, another level.
Last time we played them, I actually thought we matched
up pretty well. I was somewhat confident that we would
compete and win that game. I feel the opposite today,
which means we're gonna probably win Sunday. Forty nine ers

(01:57):
are just playing at another level. Now, I don't mean
a skill level.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
Let's hold on on the Niners. Let's talk more about
the Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (02:05):
Well, you're you're the hoe.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Let's talk more about the cowboys.

Speaker 7 (02:07):
Oh, there we go. Oh that's the first question.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
It's the cowboys, all right, well, we'll get to the Niners.
We know what they present. They beat up on Philly,
got everybody shook right now. Okay, but let's talk about
the Cowboys. What the Niners? What the what?

Speaker 5 (02:19):
The Sea Alls did well against the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Man good on third down nine to fourteen, the best
they've been all year. The offense finally shows up Gino
Smith three hundred and thirty four yards, his second highest
total of the year, three touchdowns, the most he scored
this year. DK Metcalf looks like a number one receiver
one hundred and thirty four yards and three touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
The positives were on the offensive side.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Of the ball.

Speaker 7 (02:43):
Yeah what Dk?

Speaker 6 (02:45):
Also, what hit about twenty three miles an hour on
that one touchdown?

Speaker 7 (02:48):
Beautiful throw.

Speaker 6 (02:49):
And they really work their corners, particularly Darren Bland. Even
though Darren had an interception, he's got five interceptions for
touchdown and NFL record. We absolutely schooled him for over
two hundred yards. Would have been worse. Now if one
of the big plays. I have five plays that turned
that game around. I mean, it's the first time in
history that somebody scored thirty five points, never punted, lost

(03:11):
the game. That was Unfortunately the sixth time in NFL
history that two teams never punted in a game, and
the Seahawks were really good offensively, but it could have
been better. And what I mean by better is we
had a fourth and one that was there.

Speaker 7 (03:25):
It would be would have ice the game.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
We were up five points at the time, and we
just didn't seal it off properly. We went for a
fake that the guy tried to jump outside. We should
have let him go outside. He ended up coming inside
making that play. That probably the biggest one. The guy
that we count on more than anybody, who's the most
dependable player. We have one of the clolest cats in
the world. I mean, Tyler Lockett drops a touchdown on Bland,

(03:50):
who would have had the probably given up four touchdowns
at that point, you know, pushing two hundred and seventy
yards that would have put us up, you know, at
thirteen fourteen points that point, so really disappointing. And in
the refs, I mean, I don't like to bring the
rest in, but man, I mean two pass interference calls.
It just were not pass interference calls. I don't know

(04:10):
what it is anymore. So frustrating game. We played really
well even I would say defensively at times we had
four sacks. Dak had not given up a sack or
they hadn't been sacked in three games previous.

Speaker 7 (04:23):
It's just the.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
Key plays getting off on third down. And to me,
the biggest play of the game for me personally was
we had just taken the lead seven to three. We
had gotten a sack on deck. It was third and sixteen.
We're going to get the ball back and they get
a first down on us, and shit, and it was
a checkdown and we had two guys not play it well.

Speaker 7 (04:44):
I won't going to all that. Those are the.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Things were used as a coach. Go they they weren't
better than we were. We just didn't execute on the
key plays that you know, if we just play football,
just do what we're supposed to do. Break on the
quarterback on top, be in the right position, use help
in tackling. We win that game going away. So disappointing,

(05:06):
and you know, it's three games in a row now,
you know, and that Ram game we should have won.

Speaker 7 (05:11):
We gave up a fourth quarter, League gave.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
Up ten points there, we're up eight points on Dallas.
You gotta finish games, man, Otherwise, you're six and seven
in your fight for a playoff spot.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, you got to take advantage of these opportunities, man,
some more positives. The Hawks were four for five in
the red zone. That's been a struggle, right, third down
and red zone. Also six or six what oh.

Speaker 7 (05:31):
I said, we're six and seven.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
I met six and six.

Speaker 7 (05:34):
People are gonna say he doesn't even know what our
record is.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Also something that needs to be tied up a little bit.
Just the penalties.

Speaker 7 (05:40):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
You mentioned that some of the calls were bogus. I agree, man,
I am a receiver, Okay, I understand if I played
in today's game, I might just be starting my media
career like three years ago because nobody will be able
to touch me.

Speaker 8 (05:53):
Right.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
But ten penalties for one hundred and thirty yards. That's
the second time in three weeks that they've reached about
one hundred and twenty plus yard. When it comes to penalties,
you have to clean that up. You can't leave it
in the hands of the referee. But on the other side,
the Dallas Cowboys had nine penalties for one hundred and
twenty seven yards as well. Time of possession has been
an issue throughout the year. The Hawks possessed the ball
for twenty three minutes, and the Dallas Cowboys thirty six minutes.

(06:16):
Dallas Cowboys put together some drives twelve fourteen to fifteen.
Dak press out did a good job just taking what
the defense is given him. But you said something to
me at dinner tonight, and and it's stuck out because
you know, I do a daily show Monday through Friday
ten to too bumpa Stacey holl at your boy Curtis
Rodgers on the ones and twos. I see his people
sayre wifey over there.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
When we do this show.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Man, I'm surprised with how many people are still saying
get rid of Gino, get rid of Gino.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
I go, look, man, all right, you have to know.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Who this team is at this point of the season, right,
A six and six team, so they're mediocre, but they
have the potential to put together some performances.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Gino had himself a game.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Now, he did have the interception, but overall, what does
you think of his performance?

Speaker 6 (06:58):
It was the best game of the year by far,
is what he let the ball loose it last week?
You know the other times I'm like, man, you got
to throw in windows that doesn't mean to be reckless
with the football, but you've got to take the shots
when you think you can thread the needle. And he
did that that first touchdown to DK. I mean they
tried to undercut it. They knew it that he was

(07:18):
going to undercut. His bland is always trying to undercut.
He threw it high, beautiful catch, you know, great throw.
He did some great things. There was a couple again,
I got a nitpick. I mean there's a couple of times.
Actually one of them was that fourth down and four
play that he threw to jsn If. He had a
stepped up in the pocket on that one. It was
a beautiful pocket, but he felt heat on his left

(07:40):
side and he retreated and threw it, you know, kind
of a hope throw, you know. So he could have
had a darn near perfect game. But he played really
well versus a cowboy team that's very good in the secondary,
very good pass rushing team, great linebacker, safeties. We're gonna
need that again, man, because this again, I'm not gonna

(08:01):
talk about forty nine ers.

Speaker 7 (08:03):
It's gonna be tough. Defensively.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
We were talking about to wrestle a little bit, right.
Dallas had a drive for seventy five yards. They went
forty because of penalties on that drive, they had nine
first downs.

Speaker 7 (08:18):
How do you get nine first downs on seventy five yards?

Speaker 5 (08:22):
That's a great question. A lot of penalties, penalties.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
We had five penalties on that drive. We had a
holding penalty. Now other holding penalty illegal hit, pass interference,
and pass interference. It's like, okay, already, I go enough.
I mean, those aren't all holding penals. Are not all
pass interference penalties. At some point you hope they leave
it away. But that's what you dealt with in Dallas.
By the way, man, I am not a Dallas Cowboy

(08:47):
fan anymore. And I don't like their fans. I don't like
I do not like their Please he was.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
The Lions did.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
He didn't show the pregame show for two hours at
Jerry World, man, and you walked around, you got to
know the lay of the land. But when the stadium
got filled, you weren't filling the virue.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
They were obnoxious. The press box was awesome. Their amenities
are amazing. Their food, man, you would have loved it.
They had everything, I mean, halftime have spread.

Speaker 7 (09:16):
It was really good. I'll tell you how how how
good it is.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
In Texas postgame they bring out the CagA Raiders keg
for the for the press. I'm like, they bring out
the keg yes and have beers on the postgame show.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
I know you here, that me my god, neven Keg.
You know what, let's give it a six pack would
be good.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
Yeah, six pack. But look, we played well, really disappointing.
Two of our last three games we should have won.
And now look three games ago we were tied with
Dallas six, six and three, and they've gone on a
run that's pretty amazing, and and we've we just haven't
able to finish the games.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Yeah, it's uh, it's been tough.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Now, we knew that there was a god in front
of us, right, It started with the Rams. You didn't
get that one, and then you get into the forty
nine Ers and the Cowboys, and you got the Niners again,
and then the Philadelphia Eagles, and we all saw what
the forty nine ers did to Philly in Philly, So yeah,
we know this is gonna be a tough task in
front of us.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
So we shall see.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Man.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
But you know what, I know you're excited about the Niners.
I know my guy, Paul Moyer. He watches a lot
of film. He texts me at like midnight. I gotta
tell wife he don't worry. It's Paul Moyer. It's nobody else.
He's got all these ideas. So coming up next, man,
we'll dive into that opponent, the week fourteen opponent. It's
the San Francisco forty nine ers that is next, and
we are back right here on Hawk's Lot.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Hawks Slid presented by the Dining District of the Bellevue
Collection at Bellevue Square Center Core, live on air on
Seattle Sports.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
You are listening to Hawk's Slab presented by the Dining
Gusus after Belty Collection, every Thursday for the two Thursday
right here at seven on Seattle Sports Station seventy ten,
we havet Belvy Square Center Court. And now it's time
to look at this week's opponents to San Francisco forty
nine ers. They went to Philly. Last week they beat
the Eagles forty two to nineteen. Rock Perty had a

(11:16):
day nineteen to twenty seven, three hundred and fourteen yards
and four touchdowns. Christian McCaffrey carried the ball seventeen times
for ninety three yards and a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Deebo had a rushing touchdown.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
He also had four receptions for one sixteen and two touchdowns.
He is the first receiver for the forty nine ers
is two thousand and one to have three touchdowns in
a game.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
The Niners have been rolling their last four games.

Speaker 8 (11:39):
Man.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
They have one games by a combined score of one
hundred and thirty four two forty nine, and the Hawks
are included in that streak about a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
So when we look at this team, there's no denying
that they have weapons.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
You got Deebo, Samuel rock Purty, who people are considering
an MVP candidate, Christian McCaffrey. You got George Kittle. Did
I say iyuk already? I feel like there's so many guys.
I don't want to leave anybody out. Yeah, Jennings as well,
you've been watching film, You've been studying this team. What
are your thoughts when you look at this matchup in
the forty nine ers overall?

Speaker 6 (12:11):
Well, they're talented, obviously. I mean you can make a
case for I was just doing it sixteen guys who
are Pro Bowl caliber type of players. They have talent,
and I don't know if their talent is massively better
than everybody else, but they're really good across the board.
I think Deebo Samuels is there is there's not another

(12:34):
player really like him. I'm not sure if there is
a McCaffrey either. They're defensive line. All four of them
are Pro Bowl caliber players. They're two inside linebackers. There's
no question they're the two best inside linebackers.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
In the league.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
But what makes him so great? I'll even throw perty
and they're gonna give him a little love. He's having
a phenomenal year. I consider him a point guard. He's
got to have pieces around it, but he's a very
good point He's a Jason Kidd type of player, but
he's not a He's not a Steph Curry. You know,
he's not a shooter. You know, he's not going to
score on his own. But he got weapons all over

(13:10):
the place. And when they didn't have Trent Williams and
they didn't have Deebo Samuel during their three game losing streaky,
they only scored seventeen points in those three games.

Speaker 7 (13:19):
So you know they're they're talented. But here's what separates them.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
I watched them against Philadelphia, and I don't know if
they they play like that almost all the time, but
that was personal to them. They kicked their butts, I
mean kicked it everywhere. And when I mean kick it,
I mean they're wide receivers. Kicked the wide receivers butts.
Why physically got in their.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
Face, knocked them on the ground, stayed on them.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
They were relentless. You watched their their their linebackers. Man,
I tell you what, if I was a Seahawks, I
would put that film on. I'd say, boys, this is
how we have to play. They're not more skilled than
we are, but they don't. They never quit. They are
sidelined to the sideline. There's never any You don't see
one player job, not one. And I don't know if

(14:10):
that's coaching. I don't know if that's them the DNA
of the type of player that they draft. But when
there's a play away, that whole team is sprinting. So
you don't see a lot of miss tackles because if
you miss one, the other guy's right there. I mean,
you don't see the miss tackles. Man, They're relentless. The
way they break on the football. McCaffrey, you think of McCaffrey.

(14:31):
You would think of him as a finesse player. You're
not finess, no, man, he's physical. He will run over
you now, and he's got that kind of you look
at him and you go, oh, it's not that fast. No,
it's that fast. He runs away from fast guys. So
they got it all.

Speaker 7 (14:47):
And Purdy is great feet in the pocket.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
He really knows where to go with the football quickly
and probably the best thing he does.

Speaker 7 (14:56):
To me, it's not his accuracy, it's certainly not his
arm strength.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
It's the ability to let the plays extend and then
check it down. And he checks it down when you
get deep and lets his players get out in space
and do their thing. It's the most impressive team I've
seen in years, the way they're playing. They fight for
every inch. You know how you hear the old cliche

(15:21):
you got to fight for every yard. Not them, They
fight for every inch. It does not match.

Speaker 7 (15:27):
You're out in the open field. If it's third and
if it's first and ten, they want it to be
second nine, not second and seven.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
And I'll tell you what, man, if you don't match
that intensity and that physicalness, I think we match up
skill wise.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
I really do.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
I mean, in fact, you watch the second half of
the game we played against four and as we played well.
I mean, we have players, but I it's impressive. It's
the most impressive thing I've seen in a long time.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Yeah, they had a good game against the phillip f Eagles.
They were eight for eleven on third downs, one for
one on fourth downs. Add four hundred and fifty six
total yards to the field of for Eagles three hundred
and thirty three.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Here's the stat that sticks out to me. Discipline team.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Five penalties, forty seven yards, getting to the red zone,
taking advantage of every opportunity, four trips, four touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Those are the things that good teams do.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And also when I break down the film of the
forty nine ers, they do a great job of manipulating
the edge of the defense. That's why you see all
those motions and orbits and all that. What they're gonna
do is that last man on the line of scrimmage,
whether he has his hand in the dirt or he
is standing up, if you motion this way, you're gonna
shift your shades.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
Boom.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
They shift the shade and then find a way to
bring a guy back. And now they pin the corner,
do a great job of getting on the edges. That's
where they want to hit you in the run game. Now,
in the past game, You've been saying this for years now.
I've been working with you for about seven years now, right,
and You've always mentioned no matter who the quarterback is,
it could be uh, Jimmy Garoppolo, it could be Trey Lanz,
it could be Brock Party.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
They want to hit the middle of the field. Everybody
knows that they're going there.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
But they do such a good job of expanding the
defense east or west in opening up those holes. So again,
when we talk about how to defeat the forty nine ers,
I think there's always a common theme when it comes
to you and I and the rest of the crew
when we break things down. Stop them from hitting the
middle of the field. But it seems like teams aren't
able to do that.

Speaker 6 (17:19):
No, it's hard because they they look. Last week, brock
Purdy had two passes to drawing a plank on his name,
Oh Deebo Samuel. Two plays he threw to him. It
was for forty eight and forty six yards, so ninety
four yards the ball traveled combined four yards and nobody

(17:43):
blocked for Deebo Samon. He broke two tackles on his
first one and he just outran everybody on the second.
So he's a really special player. McCaffrey has the same thing.
I think what makes San Francisco better now is perty's
not afraid to throw outside the numbers and he knows
where it is. Whereas the old guys they didn't want
through outside the numbers, they didn't recognize it quick enough.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
He does now.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
He has some flaws and you've got to get around him,
but he's really good with his feet in the pocket. Also,
here's some crazy stats though, I mean I think, well,
they throw their average in two hundred and fifty one
yards two hundred and fifty five yards a game passing,
we're averaging two hundred and thirty one. Gino's throwing it
one hundred times more than he has, you know, if

(18:28):
they're not throwing it that much. And so when you
were talking about all those crazy emotions and what they do,
and they run powers and they run traps and they
run ice, I mean, they run everything. It reminds me
you're gonna hate this, but it reminds me of Bellevue
and the wing tea and the reason why we used
to run the wing t is they go.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
They may be able to stop it for a quarter.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
But nobody has it, particularly in high school, that kind
of focus to be on their key every single snap,
every snap, because if you don't on one of them,
the plays gone. And I watched Philadelphia last week for
a quarter and a half they shut out San Francisco.
Matter of fact, their first two drives were three and out.

(19:09):
The next two and a half quarters they scored forty
some points and put up four hundred and fifty yards
on them. So that's what I mean is you got
to want to be in it physically, and not just physically.
You got to be focused on your key every single play.
And I'll give you an example for San Francisco. I

(19:30):
watched Fred Warner. It was an extra point and Fred
was in his stance and he was off the ball.
He was the guy that you know, they usually pull
guys out in case there's a fake on a field
goal or a pat right, and so he was in
his stance as a linebacker, and all of a sudden,
the balls kicked.

Speaker 7 (19:48):
And he immediately turned and he stared at his key.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
He didn't even look at the ball after it was kicked.
It was I mean that kind of detail, attention to detail.
He focused every play And I tell you, man, that's
to me is what separates San Francisco from every team
in the league right now.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Another thing that does is that at every position they
have guys who gets yards after the catch and yards
after contact. You talk about getting to the football and rallying,
you have to do that this week. So eleven hats
to the football. That's that's simple football, right, rally to
the ball. That's what they gotta do. All right, A

(20:27):
come join us here at Hawks Live at Bellevy Square
Center Court, where we have a chance to win gift
cars from the Dining District at the Bellevue Collection. Tonight
they are giving away gift cars to Patty Coins, Irish
Pubs and Jackel Neessa. All right, when we come back,
we're gonna hear from one of the tackles man, second
year man, Charles Cross, that is next right here on
Hawks Live.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Hawks Live presented by the Dining District of the Bellevue
Collection at Bellevue Square Center Court, live on air on
Seattle Sports.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Going back to Hawk Slide presented by the Dyning justic
after Belview collection every Thursday right here on see I
was four seventy ten. We're a Bellvy score Center courting.
Now we are joined by starting Tackle Charles Cross. Charles,
how you doing a little good? We are good man,
thanks for joining us on a Thursday.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Question. Are you a Fortnite guy? Man? Because that that
old mad drop a couple of weeks ago. My son
was all on it. Uh you a gamer? You a
Fortnite guy? What do you do in your spare time?

Speaker 4 (21:29):
I do?

Speaker 8 (21:29):
I do play Fortnite occasionally. I actually played it like
the first time, like last week.

Speaker 5 (21:36):
Do you like the new the changes? My son was
complaining to me about changes of the game, and that
is nod in my head, like I know what he's
talking about. Charles, I don't know what he's talking about.

Speaker 8 (21:45):
Oh well, this is from the last time I played.
It's been a while, but it's a it's a cool settle.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
I don't even get the Fortnite thing, but I don't
know what it is. I'm so out of school.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
I mean, look, I was in that Tendo guy right
doing nor super super Mario things along the way. Hey,
real real quick man, tell us how your season's going
for I mean, last year you played every game. He
had a couple in or an injury this year and
missed a few. But you know, just tell me how
you feel the season's going, how your body's reacting.

Speaker 8 (22:14):
Oh well, as far as the season going, you know,
you know, just taking me one week at a time,
you know, just trying to improve week by week, working
on little things, you know, just trying to improve on
the run game past game. We're just trying to through
wherever I can to, you know, help the team.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Man.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
You guys have had a lot of bodies.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Man, I want to say nine to ten different starting
lineups tied for the first I believe when it comes
to lineups in the NFL when it comes to the
offensive line. But now you've got a Lucas back. Man,
what is it like having a guy? You guys held
it down last year? I believe it was the first
time since the seventies that two rookie tackles started the
whole season.

Speaker 5 (22:51):
Man, what's it like having a Lucas back?

Speaker 8 (22:54):
I mean, it's always good. It's always good. It was
great with a K but you know, he just brings
the h Another admission to our game. Man. It's uh,
he's just such a great player. It's just great. Heaven,
he'll bat you know, you're a little better force of comfort.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
Yeah, definitely. It was nice to see him in there.
I mean him and Bradford on that side that they're mallers.

Speaker 7 (23:17):
Man.

Speaker 6 (23:18):
They they they can move, move a pile, and uh,
it was it was good to see him get back there.

Speaker 7 (23:23):
Hey, we we knew this gauntlet coming in.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
You know, you had the forty nine ers, you had
the Cowboys, you got the forty nine ers, you got Philadelphia.
But Charles Man, you you've had to face the gauntlet now.
I mean you have had Nick Bosa, You've had Miles Garrett,
You've had Micah Parsons, You've got Nick Bosa again. Man,
just talk about that, I mean yeah, I mean mentally,

(23:46):
is that tough for you? You know, to go week
after week about truly the best in the business.

Speaker 8 (23:54):
Oh, for me, it was it was uh oh it
was fun. It was like competist, compete, So for me,
I feel like it was it was. It was great.
It was great we to compete, go out there and
play against hold the bitch guys. Oh so I feel
I feel good about it. I feel great about it.
You know, I'm excited about the competition that's coming up. Uh.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
You guys are six and six right now, still in
the playoff hunt. Obviously would love to get a win
this weekend. What's the mentality of the offensive line?

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Man?

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Because you know a lot of the love goes to
the outside, right, but we all know it starts and
ends with you guys. Man, what do you think about
the challenge this week? And and how how are you guys.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
Feeling about pushing this team forward during this playoff run?

Speaker 8 (24:38):
Oh, we feel good. We feel good about it. You know,
just trying to take where we get a time, you know,
plays to get it as a group, be on the
same page. So that's how we look a at it.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
Watching San Francisco on film, I mean they're talented, there's
no question. I mean, their fronts good. We know that
their linebackers are really good. But there's something about them
that it's just the way they get after the football.
Are they on film? Do they appear to be the

(25:10):
most physical team you guys play for this year?

Speaker 8 (25:15):
I fast a lot of good defensive this year. You
know they're they're going over them. Oh no, we just
gotta we gotta go in and we gotta do our
job and compete at a high level.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
What's you know, as analysts and fans, we look at
the game from the outside end, and we saw some
of the calls these referees man put in you all
last week, and we're.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
Bad for you guys.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
You guys got to be in the moment right in
and and still execute and get on to the next play.
We're allowed to gripe about some of the calls of
referees I put on you guys as a team, How
do you guys handle that? Do you even acknowledge it
or do you just kind of say it is what
it is. Let's move on and uh and get ready
for the next play in the next game.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
Oh, you know, we on the control and we take control.
So you know, we just gotta see the what is
you know? Make you just get better for me?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Hey, Charles, so man, you're you're up here in the Northwest,
the second year that you've been out here. You're entering
your second winter. You know, you got Christmas coming up?
You got any plans with the family they coming up?
Or are they kind of just let you focus and
do your thing during the season.

Speaker 8 (26:26):
Oh thank you. They get a chance to come up
a good amount on the majority of the time, they
just let me focus on You know, I talked to
a lot throughout the week, so we're still We're still
having a great relationship.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
All right, Charles Man, We appreciate your time. Enjoy I
guess the new maps on Fortnite, the new skins. I'm
just gonna throw terms out there. My son say to
me all the time in these v bucks or all that,
so I don't know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
Charles Man. Hey, we appreciate your time and good luck
this weekend.

Speaker 8 (26:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
That was good, Charles Cross starred and tackled. This is
gonna be big for these guys. This is gonna be big.
I mean, like you mentioned, you got Michael Parsons coming up,
you play Michael Parsons's got Nick Bosa. We all know
what the defensive line looks like for the Philadelphia Eagles.
They've been good over the past few years. I mean,
what do you what are you expecting out of these guys?

Speaker 6 (27:22):
Well, I think, first of all, I thought we protected
pretty well last week, and I thought we did a
good job on Parsons.

Speaker 7 (27:28):
Who is man you can have a great game. He
gonna get free, you know at times.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
Uh you know, and you know, the one play where
we didn't block him, you know, was scrutinized a little bit,
even though on on the board it looked like a
good play.

Speaker 7 (27:42):
I thought he protected well.

Speaker 6 (27:44):
San Francisco they said they sack us six times two
weeks ago. I want to say it was six six,
six times, and you know it wasn't all on the
offensive line. And you know, you get behind. Now we're
throwing a ton, and you know the game can change.

Speaker 7 (27:56):
At that point.

Speaker 6 (27:57):
We were trying to get some long routes without we
could take some deep on them, and with that you
got to protect long enough. And they were in their
sprinter stands like they always the forty nine ers. But look,
I mean, Charles, you watch him, man, he's an athletic guy,
you know, for a three hundred pounder. I mean, he
looks like almost a basketball player the way he moves.

Speaker 7 (28:18):
He's going to continue to get stronger, which he's gonna
need to do.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
I mean.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
The one thing about the West, the defensive lines where
you got to go up against are incredible. So I
was trying to get to say Hey, he's the most
physical team you've seen, and he's like, eh, you know,
just just one of many. So maybe I'm not seeing
everything I saw on film after all.

Speaker 5 (28:40):
And that's a good point you make about the NFC West.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
I mean, you got Aaron Donald, you got Nick Bosa,
you got Armstead, you got Chase Young. Arizona, despite their record,
has been playing some decent football as well.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
And remember Paul Moyer. We laughed at JB.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Long a couple of weeks ago, a few weeks ago
when he said, look, these Rams are gonna make a
push to the playoffs. We did not believe them. And
Al Saul knotted up at six and six. Obviously the
Rams have the tie breaker. It's gonna get interesting here
as of late. That's why I'm looking for that Rams
Ravens game. I want to see how the Rams handle
the Ravens. We know what they did to the Hawks
over there in Baltimore, So I'm excited.

Speaker 8 (29:18):
Man.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
I know that it's it's a tough place for the
fans to be at six and six with high expectations,
but they are still in the mix and there's a
lot of football left to be played. But when we
come back We're gonna go around the NFL and talk
more football.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
That's next right here on Hawks Live.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Hawkss Live, presented by the Dining District of the Bellevue
Collection at Bellevue Square Center Court, live on air on
Seattle Sports.

Speaker 5 (29:46):
Welcome back to Hawks Live.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
We are live here at the Dining It well, it
was presented by the Dining dis you got the Bilby Collection.
Every Thursday right here at seven o'clock on Seattle Sports
seven to ten, myself, Michael Bumpas, and my god, Paul
Moyer ak A Moyer will break down what you need
to know about this game and other games. So let's
go around the NFL. Just an update of what's going
on on Thursday night football. The New England pages are

(30:11):
of twenty one to eighteen, with about eleven minutes left
in the fourth quarter of the Pittsburgh Steelers have the football.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
This is a game of the backups. You got Zappi
for New England.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Got Mitch Trubisky for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don't care
who's playing, where they're playing. If it's football, I'm always interested.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
Boye.

Speaker 6 (30:31):
Well, I'm interested because we got to play Pittsburgh later
in this year. And their offense has been pretty anemic.
I was telling you earlier. It's really interesting because you know, Tomlin,
their head coach, you know, nationally, you know, I think
we all respect him.

Speaker 7 (30:46):
I mean what he's done.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
All they do is win, right, and a great, great program.
And I was listening to a show today and how
their local media just trashes them.

Speaker 7 (30:57):
You know, haven't won a playoff games, which blows my mind.
We want to playoff games since twenty sixteen.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
That doesn't feel right.

Speaker 6 (31:02):
That's seven years, man, I mean there's something to that, right.
How he doesn't manage quarterbacks probably so stuff.

Speaker 7 (31:11):
We're not in the weeds on that.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
We're up here and people want to fire Pete Carroll
right fourteen year all we all we do is win.

Speaker 7 (31:18):
We've never had to really rebuild.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
We retooled a little bit and went to the playoffs
when everybody thought we were gonna completely rebuild. So you know,
it's just perception, isn't isn't always reality. So I'm interested
in Pittsburgh because you know, to get to the playoff.
I mean, we're not gonna get the tiebreaker on the
Rams now they're tied with us. A matter of fact,
I think we'd lose most tie breakers, so we're gonna

(31:41):
have to actually have a better record than everybody else.
We need the Rams to lose to Baltimore this weekend.
We need to steal one this week or the week after.
We're gonna have to win ten games.

Speaker 7 (31:53):
I don't think.

Speaker 6 (31:55):
I don't think nine to seven is gonna get us in.
But yeah, so Pittsburgh, excuse me, or nine and eight's
gonna get us in. I think we're gonna have to
win ten. And that's why Pittsburgh is interesting to me.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
According to the stats, nine and eight gives you a
sixty three percent chance to get in. But you're looking
at what's in front of you. I think that's why
you're saying that might not be enough. You got the
Rams at six and six, the Vikings at six and six,
and the Packers at six and six, so you're gonna
need some help either way.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
You put it all right.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
So when I say these words, tell me what organization
you're thinking about. One of the worst, the most poorly
ran organizations in the last couple of decades.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
The Jets.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
The Jets. We're going right to New York now.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Aaron Rodgers responded to some leaks out there that Zach
Wilson was reluctant to play for the Jets because of
being injured. Now Aaron Rodgers come back, he goes, that
is chicken poop and that has no room when it
comes to an organization trying to change the culture and

(32:55):
be a winning coacher. Now I hear that, and I go,
Zach Wilson, you are paid to do what. You go
out there and do your job. If you're capable of
being the quarterback for the Jets and they ask you
to bead, you go out there and do that. Now,
Zach Wilson. Also, I understand where he's coming from because
he's probably looking at that offensive line and hey, man,
ain't nothing out there for me. But you're getting paid
millions upon millions of dollars. If it's your time to

(33:18):
go out there and be the quarterback, you go out
there and play some ball.

Speaker 6 (33:20):
Well, Aaron actually was upset with the organization for leaking
something and he said, there's been a lot of leaks,
and he said, that's where this organization I used to
to get their act together. There's no place for that.
And it's hearsay, right, I mean, there's nobody has come
out and said it. As Zach Wilson's denied it. I

(33:40):
think he said, like, you know, hey, you know, I'm
not gonna maybe be here next year.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
You know, what do you think?

Speaker 6 (33:47):
And who knows what was said there. I think they've
addressed that it's a bad organization. I just feel like
they've lost this team, and losing does that very quickly.
And if you don't have a leader, true leader at
the quarterback position to keep everybody in place, it makes
it even tougher.

Speaker 7 (34:06):
And you know, Aaron likes Zach Wilson. He said, look,
he's a great kid.

Speaker 6 (34:09):
You know, I'm pulling for him. You know, he probably
hasn't had the best he hasn't been dealt the best hand.

Speaker 7 (34:14):
Along the way.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
But normally where rumors come out, where there's smoke, there's fire.
He probably said something either in jest or just you know,
in a conversation. Man, there's no play to me, there's
no place in that.

Speaker 8 (34:29):
Man.

Speaker 6 (34:29):
You play, You're paid to play the game. I hey,
you know what, my my organization, it's the end of
the year. I'm not going to come work the rest
of the year. You know, I'm paid to show up
every day And and do a job. So, but that's
just a bad or. Cleveland was is obviously a horrible
one also, I think Arizona. But the Jets is probably

(34:50):
the worst organization for a long time.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
Yeah, the Jets had a couple of years when they
were decent, made it to the AFC Championsship game with
Rex Ryn and Mark Sanchez at the quarter spot. Let's
stay with the quarterbacks and talk about a local guy.
How many Huskies do I have right here? Husky fans?
Husky fans? Okay, you can raise your hand. All I
want to say to all of you are go kugs.
But I respect what the Huskies are doing. All right,

(35:13):
give me the booze.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
I love him, especially when I beat him three times.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
But that Jake Browning, Jake Brownie had an opportunity to
do his thing, and I was happy to see that man.
He was thirty two or thirty seven for three fifty
four in one touchdown, and he looked so calm doing it.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
There was no panic.

Speaker 9 (35:34):
Man.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
We've seen a lot of backup quarterbacks get opportunities this year.
Guys been hurt and Rogers started this whole thing the
very first week, the very first play that he had
for the Jets.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
Man, what did you make of Jake Browning's performance?

Speaker 6 (35:47):
Well, for I couldn't believe the stats. You know, I
knew he was playing. I was kind of watching it,
But now, sad I was looking, I go, is he
like he was like twenty eight for thirty two or
something like That's that's almost unheard of, and that's almost
an NFL record type of percentage for that many throws. Yeah,
it just goes to show you. I mean, brock Purty
is a good example. Brown is a good example. You

(36:09):
got good pieces around you, and you you know when
to get rid of the football, you know where to
throw at. Browning was always that guy. He just didn't
have a real strong arm. Right, You can be successful, man.
You don't have to throw a bullet one hundred miles
an hour. You know, you don't have to be the
fastest guy.

Speaker 7 (36:25):
You can. You can compete in this league. And so
I thought it was great.

Speaker 9 (36:28):
Man.

Speaker 6 (36:28):
I was really excited for him, and I was just
all that, what's going on with the Huskies. Let me see,
let me tell you Daniels from LSU. I'm gonna do
a little heisman on this right now. He was an
Arizona State quarterback. He transferred to LSU. I promise you,
if he was at Arizona State with those stats, he
wouldn't even be in New York.

Speaker 7 (36:47):
But he transferred to LSU, and he's gonna now win.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Hold you saying with forty touchdowns yes, and ten rushing
testdowns over one thousand yards, ye.

Speaker 7 (36:57):
Think he'd be in New York from Arizona State. I
don't think no chance.

Speaker 6 (37:01):
They lost forty two to ten to Florida Stair, forty
two to twenty five to Florida State.

Speaker 7 (37:07):
They lost three games this year. You got it. Pennix,
who's undefeated. He's beat bow Knicks twice.

Speaker 6 (37:15):
Bow Knicks gets Pack twelve player, a first team Pack
twelve quarterback. It's a popularity contest, man, it's media. There's
more media back East. Down South Daniels are gonna win it.
If Penix was down South, if this was if they
were in a Big ten next year, he gets to sing,
hands down.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
It's popularity contest. Penix deserves it. Freaks me out because
they look, if you're behind enough, you know you can throw.

Speaker 6 (37:41):
And by the way they played crap this year they
played I mean they played some bad teams sec whether
they top heavy their bottom part, are not good football teams.
So that's how I feel about I saw him that
when he was at Arizona State. We're like, not, he's
just not a gamer man.

Speaker 7 (37:59):
He's it's just not that guy who's gonna win the
big game for you. And I still believe that. But
I'll tell you what. I may take him though in the.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
NFL because he is athletic, he's got a pretty strong arm,
he's you know, obviously the statistics are there, but three
go look at this the scale of when all of
a sudden he became the guy. He wasn't even he
was an afterthought, and all of a sudden somebody said, oh,
he's got forty touchdowns. What's he should be now? The
number one favorite guy for the Heisman? I don't get it. Man,

(38:28):
to me, wins matter a Heisman trophy on top of that,
and I know we're spos talk about the NFL. It's
a joke anyway. It's not the best player, it's the
best quarterback. So why don't we just separate it. Let's
get rid of the Heisman. When's the last time a
defensive guy won the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
I couldn't tell you.

Speaker 7 (38:44):
Yeah, thank you. It's happened twice, I think in history.
That's all I gotta say.

Speaker 5 (38:48):
So, I agree with everything you just said.

Speaker 7 (38:51):
Should we save it for your show?

Speaker 3 (38:52):
I'm your guy, So I'm just gonna go against you, okay,
all right, and I'm going.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
To say that you are just better that he left
Arizona State.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
And it was Charles Woodson in ninety seven, but you're
just mad that he left Arizona State.

Speaker 5 (39:06):
He's going down to the Bayou and he's bawling right now.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
Man.

Speaker 7 (39:09):
I'm happy for him, Man, I don't.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
I'm with you one hundred percent, though. I think Michael
Pennick should win the Heighesman.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
I think that.

Speaker 6 (39:17):
Pannicks was at Alabama and they're twelve and zero, same statistics.

Speaker 7 (39:22):
Who's winning the Heisman Trophy?

Speaker 3 (39:23):
Jayde Daniels, I'm dispensed with you, man, it's Pennix. I
think Pennix is the more NFL ready quarterback as well.
I think that it's difficult to win all of your
games no matter what league you're playing in.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
You could be in three A football in the state
of Washington to.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Pack twelve football it's hard to do because you gotta
stay healthy, you gotta get lucky, you gotta win some
tight ones. And they've done exactly that. And they beat
the Oregon Ducks two times, and it's hard to be
the team of that caliber two times. So much talent
over there.

Speaker 5 (39:55):
So I am a koog okay go kug's but I
respect Michael Penn and the Huskies and what they've done
this year. It's been fun to watch.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
All Right, Hey, come join us here at Hawks Live
at Belvy Square Center Court. Well, you'll have a chance
to win gift cards from the Dining District at the
Bellvy Collection Tonight they're giving away gift cards to Patty Coins,
Iris Pub and Japanessa. When we return, we'll go inside
the film room. We got DK seventy three yard touchdown,
Zach Charbonage's thirty nine yard screen pass, and then the

(40:24):
final play Gino just couldn't connect with DJ Dallas.

Speaker 5 (40:27):
That is next right here on Hawks Lot.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Hawks Live presented by the Dining District at the Bellevue
Collection at Bellevue Squares Center Court, every Thursday from seven
to nine, live on air on Seattle Sports.

Speaker 10 (40:40):
No.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
If you're your hosts Michael Bumpis and Paul Moyer.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
Welcome back to Hawks Live every Thursday right here at
Bellvy Square Center Court Thursday, seven pm on Seattle Sports
seven ten on Michael Bumpus with my man Paul moy
gave it's time to do what we love to do, man,
break down film and makes sense of some of the
biggest plays that we saw this past weekend.

Speaker 5 (41:06):
Now, this first play, I mean we were waiting for
this one, Moyer. We were waiting for.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
Mister dk Metcalf number fourteen to put a game together,
let alone one of the biggest plays of his career.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
Man, So let's get into it made.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
Gino Smith finds miss a DK Metcalf for a seventy
three yard touchdown.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
Dallas in the backfield.

Speaker 10 (41:25):
Gino from the shotgun with three receivers to his right
JSM one of those guys four man rush.

Speaker 5 (41:31):
Gino steps up, throws us like what a catch there?

Speaker 9 (41:33):
He goes DK forty thirty twenty ten to five touchdown
Shayhawks seventy three yards DK Metcalf on a perfect slant
route thrown.

Speaker 5 (41:49):
By Geno Smith.

Speaker 9 (41:51):
Holy Catfish won away to start this one for the Seahawks.
You getta stop on, d you go right for the
juggular and those Seahawks go on top sixty three and.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
They picked up the third down.

Speaker 7 (42:07):
I gotta throw that in there, Dave.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
That's the fastest forty thirty twenty ten. You know again,
it's the fastest.

Speaker 5 (42:16):
Twenty two miles per hour.

Speaker 6 (42:17):
I believe twenty two point like seven. It's the fastest
of the year from fastest since twenty twenty. I mean, look,
we know DK is fast, and DK knew he was
gonna get a touchdown, but I think he wanted to
prove a point too as well. I wouldn't call that
a slant. I would call that more of a skinny
post because.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
Called a bang bang. Yeah, that's why I call it.
Five step is a bang. We'll call it seven a post,
and a three is slant, at least in my offense.

Speaker 6 (42:41):
Yeah, I mean, you know, he completes it at fifteen
yards and it's just inside the numbers. We used to
call it a skinny post. They didn't get all the
way into the post. Not an ind route, it's not
a slant. Two things on this h Dallas tried to
disguise this, so they pretended like they were gonna double
or over the top on DK because DK was a

(43:03):
single wide receiver to the offenses left and we had
three wide receivers to our right.

Speaker 7 (43:08):
And so Gino looked at the safety.

Speaker 6 (43:09):
The safety pretended like he was going to go over
the right, over the top, but he came back down.
I don't really know what they were doing on their defense.
I don't know why they did it, and Gino read
it perfect. It's it's good protection. We knew that the
pocket was going to get It's gonna be muddled at times,
and you're still gonna have to make those throws. But
the pocket's nice, you know, and he when he has

(43:31):
time and he can step into the throw. You know,
Geno's incredibly accurate. I think they practiced this a ton
because what's what's the corner's name, I've already drawn a
blank on him. Yeah, think you He liked to undercut
a bunch and that's how he gets his interceptions. So
they threw this saying Hi, I knew and he was
going to undercut it. It is a It's probably one

(43:52):
of the best throws I've seen Geno make, and it's
one of the best catches I've seen DK This is
not an easy catch and throw, and you know the
rest is his after that.

Speaker 5 (44:00):
Yeah, this is when I knew he was healthy.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
Man, I felt like the last few weeks who was
struggling a little bit. And what I think is, I
think that safety is looking for the crosser by number
three and number two receiver on the backside, because you
see the back or flow to the flat with the
running back. So that makes me think that, Okay, that
corner probably has his deep third or quarters in that
safety is looking for the cross road.

Speaker 5 (44:22):
Either way you put it.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
Gino takes him there with his eyes too, right, Okay,
you're looking for the crosser. If that's the case, I'm
gonna take you there with my eyes, snap back to
DK and then boom, put it on a line in
a hands catch by DK.

Speaker 9 (44:36):
Man.

Speaker 5 (44:37):
The windows are small in the NFL. You got to
be able to replete this special that.

Speaker 7 (44:41):
That window is about the size of my hand.

Speaker 4 (44:43):
I mean it.

Speaker 7 (44:45):
There just wasn't much room there. And you know, and
that's what Gino's capable.

Speaker 6 (44:49):
We saw that last year and this was a first
game where I just I just felt like, you know
what I'm gonna throw what I see, I'm not gonna
wait for them to get open because at the time
he's really not open.

Speaker 7 (45:01):
No, but he put it in a perfect spot.

Speaker 5 (45:03):
All right, let's get to this next play. Oh my gosh,
you know what the Seahawks did.

Speaker 7 (45:08):
What do they do?

Speaker 5 (45:08):
They had a big play on a screen.

Speaker 3 (45:12):
Geno Smith finds Zach Charbona for thirty nine yards on
the screen.

Speaker 10 (45:16):
Pass second and ten, empty backfield for the Seahawks in
Dallas territory.

Speaker 5 (45:20):
Quick thrown near side to Charbonne.

Speaker 9 (45:21):
Who's line up one, and he takes off inside the
thirty breaks of tackle twenty fifty to ten down to
the five yard line. Go Zack Charbonay catches a swing
pass as he lines up wide to the left side.
Dorrence Armstrong, the defensive lineman, then finally chases him down.

Speaker 5 (45:40):
Coach, you got are you wanting to go?

Speaker 4 (45:41):
All right?

Speaker 5 (45:41):
Let's get it all right? So this is what happens.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
You got an empty backfield, You got three receivers to
the right of Genome. You got Jake Bubble and Zach
Charbonay to the left. This is just a numbers game
right here, Moy. They know they're gonna run this screen.
So you got your left tackle on your left guard,
who are going to show passpro for a second, and
they released leave two guys free. Right What the Senate does?
He blocks down on that one or three tech right there,

(46:06):
and the five tech is free.

Speaker 4 (46:07):
You let him go.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
He realizes, Look, if it's too good to be true,
it probably is. He tries to reverse back a field
and it is too late. What I love about this
is you put your best blocking receiver on a corner
and Jake.

Speaker 5 (46:17):
Bobo Boom, you go and get him. Now you let
the big boys go free.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
If you got two of those guys on a backer,
one lineman takes care of the backer, the other guy
goes to the safety, and the rest is just Zach
Sharbonna being elusive with the ball in his hands. I
saw this play and these are one of the moments
when I thought to myself, Man, I wish Moyer was
here so I can see his reaction, because Moyer would
be going nuts if he saw this go down. When

(46:41):
you saw go down with your in Dallas, with your family, man,
a big play man. We've been waiting on something like
this to happen in the screen game. It finally gets done.

Speaker 10 (46:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (46:49):
I give credit to Shane Waldron on this too, because
the last thing I'm thinking, I've got sharbon A and
Bobo all the way out to my left or defense
is right. They ain't throwing it to them because I've
got JSN, I've got Tyler Lockett, and I've got DK
to the right. They got four guys over there. They're
kind of confused too. They get lined up a little late.

(47:09):
I'll just close it with this. What I really liked
about is you got Cross and you got Lewis out
quick and man, you want to get big guys on
little guys, and they double team. Basically one of the
safety linebacker that they had in at the time. They
shove him all the way out and then Lewis sees
it's kind of like it's a double team if he

(47:30):
goes to my left and I'm gonna keep going out
for the safety comes to my right, and then Cross
would have gone to the safety. And then Lewis sprints. Man,
he's run at least a five to two forty here,
but he knocks the safety on his butt as well,
and that wears guys in ethic. He made him do
a somersault. Just really good.

Speaker 7 (47:50):
I loved it.

Speaker 6 (47:50):
But just the whole game plan was good. It was
just just when you thought they were going to do
one thing, we'd come back for a run. Then we
run a quick screen. We run a screen that we
would never think we would run. And we're gonna have
to have a bunch of that this week.

Speaker 3 (48:03):
All right, final play here? All this one hurt Moyer.
You got the game on the line, You're driving down
the field. You get to fourth down, fourth into with
a minute and seven left on the clock, and Gino
Smith can't connect with DJ Dallas.

Speaker 10 (48:18):
Dallas shows blitz, they bring it, Gino gets rid of
it and he can't complete it. Gino is hit in
the backfield again by Parsons, who has just been a terror,
and that's going to do it as the Seahawks just
have no answer for number eleven tonight, Michael Parsons. No
matter where he lined up, he seemed to be in

(48:39):
the backfield the whole time.

Speaker 5 (48:41):
What'd you see?

Speaker 6 (48:42):
Well, I really would like to talk to the players
on this one. I think this is a design play.
And again this is one of those you get up
on the board and you draw it up and you go,
this will work, and so they blitz us. Man, there's
no question about the sending six guys and we've got
five lineman. Actually we really have a tight end at

(49:04):
Chips as well and helps on us. But they decide
they're going to leave Parsons, who's to the offense is
right wide open.

Speaker 7 (49:12):
I saw this.

Speaker 6 (49:12):
It was a Notre Dame in game. I think it
was a college game. Somebody showed this where the back
came all the way to the other side.

Speaker 7 (49:19):
Quick.

Speaker 6 (49:19):
There's nobody covering DJ Dallas. If this is to him,
he's got to go now. He cannot waste any time
because we've got a guy free, and more important, he's
got to get also past the guy that Abe Lucas
is blocking, and that's.

Speaker 7 (49:32):
Where he runs into him.

Speaker 6 (49:35):
I almost when I looked at it again from the
end zone, and I've looked at this play a bunch,
and I was one hundred percent sure I knew this play.

Speaker 7 (49:43):
I'm not sure that DJ wift on Parson.

Speaker 5 (49:49):
You think that he was going to pick him up.

Speaker 6 (49:50):
I think he may have been picking him up because
he throws a look at me. If you look at
the end zone at the last second, he throws an
elbow at him. I would have liked to see him
come underneath Abe Lucas and just get out to the flat.

Speaker 7 (50:01):
There's no one going to be there. It's going to work.
It will absolutely be a first down if that's the design.

Speaker 6 (50:07):
If he was supposed to go over there and actually
pick him and pick him up, which I would have preferred,
they didn't do that, but that's fine. Sometimes you know,
you're not sure how we're going to slide and how
they're they're lined up. You can't always get that perfect.
There's going to be mismatches at times. But if he
picks them up, we've got JSN.

Speaker 7 (50:26):
Open on an in rout. It's it's open.

Speaker 6 (50:29):
So you know, at first I thought that was the
Notre Dame play right that people saw, and I said,
what I get it. Notre Dame has better players than
that team. So again fourth and two. I didn't have
a problem whether I just it wasn't executed right.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
Yeah, we heard Genal speak after the game. He said
that he was supposed to release. I think DJ just
hesitates and doesn't get there.

Speaker 5 (50:53):
All right.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
Hey, make sure you get onto the Bellevue Collection dining
just there's so many great restaurants to choose from.

Speaker 4 (50:58):
Today.

Speaker 5 (50:59):
We had our pre meal from Patty Coins. I had
the chicken sandwich. It was bomb.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
It's privately owned, it's a family restaurant and they're actually
from Ireland to have a great happy hour three to
six pm and then they turn up again from ten
to one am every single day.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
All right, when we come back, it's time to talk
that talk.

Speaker 6 (51:18):
Well, I got to give Patty Coin some love here.
First of all, get their owners. Their local owners are
the nicest people in the world.

Speaker 7 (51:25):
To go there. It's a really cool atmosphere. I kid
you not.

Speaker 6 (51:29):
It's the best fish and chips I've ever had my life.
It's not even close. And I've been fasting for seventy
two hours, so I've been waiting for that. So I
did have the fish and chips and a couple other things.
Didn't kill myself, but I totally honest, best fish and
chips ever had my life.

Speaker 7 (51:48):
Go to Patty Coin and get if you like fish.

Speaker 5 (51:50):
And chips, and I kid you not, the chicken sandwich
was bomb.

Speaker 7 (51:53):
Yeah, the listious food was really amazing.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
All right, we'll we come back. It's time to talk
that talk. This when we pick on some some topics. Man,
the Seahawks, will they make the playoffs. It's Brock Purty,
the MVP of this league. We'll let you know that's next.
Right here on Hawks Live.

Speaker 11 (52:14):
It's time to talk that talk with Michael Bumpus and
Paul Moyer on Hawks Live.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
Welcome back to Hawks Live, presented by the Dining District
after Bellvy Collection. The show is every Thursday at seven
o'clock right here on Seattle Sports seven.

Speaker 5 (52:28):
It is time to talk that talk. This is when
me and Moyer throw some topics out there.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
He lets me know that he thinks he's right, and
I agree with him sometimes and sometimes I don't agree.
So let's see how we feel this time around. Moyer,
first topic. That's my question to you. Yay nay, let
me know how you feel the Seahawks will still make
the playoffs this season.

Speaker 6 (52:50):
There's no question we're gonna agree on this one. Yes,
it's gonna be tough. We really need to win this
week and to make it easier from a tiebreaker standpoint,
because if we lose this game, we're zero and four
in our division, or excuse me, we're one and four
in our division.

Speaker 7 (53:09):
That man, that's part of a tie breaker.

Speaker 6 (53:11):
It's another conference game, that's part of a tiebreaker, So
I'd really like to win this when I I think
it's gonna be tough. I watching Philly on film. I
think we'll beat Philly when they when they come here.
But that would be four losses in a row, and
that's that's a streak you don't want.

Speaker 7 (53:28):
We're good.

Speaker 6 (53:28):
I think we got to get to ten wins. I
don't think nine and seven is gonna nine and eight
is gonna pull it off. I know it's sixty three
percent of the time. It works every time, but I
don't think we're gonna I don't think nine and eight
is gonna get us into the playoffs.

Speaker 7 (53:44):
We we gotta win one of these next two and
in sweep the final three.

Speaker 3 (53:48):
Man, if we played in the NFC South, we'll be
right in the mix. Got the Atlanta Falconus that six
and six, they hold the fourth seed right there, but
but you're right behind them. The Cowboys are nine and
three to the fifth seed. You got Minnesota sixty sixty
seven seed, and then you have the Green Bay Packers
at sixty sixth with the seventh and then you.

Speaker 5 (54:05):
Have the Rams right in front of you. So no,
I think we are gonna agree on this one. Because
we keep hope a lot, and we know what's gonna
take this weekend.

Speaker 3 (54:13):
It's gonna take a great effort. Can you cause turnovers?
Can you limit yards after contact and yards after the catch?

Speaker 5 (54:20):
That is going to be key.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
But if this offense could do anything close to what
they did last week against the Dallas Cowboys, you would
think they would have a chance. But no, it's it's
gonna be tight. And you put yourself in this position.
Let's see how resilient this team can be.

Speaker 6 (54:34):
Yeah, you can't give up fourth quarter leads. They come
back and bite you. And now we're in We're in
the position we are and I do believe Pete's right.
We'll say when they make the playoffs, they will be
battle tested. They will be a tough out because of
the type of teams they've had to play and prepare for.
And so these are playoff games and you know we
got we gotta shine, all right? Next one man, this

(54:56):
guy is having an unbelievable season. A lot of people
think he's a system quarterback, but here's some stats on
this guy. He's seventh in the league in passing yards,
but he's thrown at seventy yards seventy less times already
than just Geno, Right, I mean that's not compared to
some of the other guys. First in the NFL and
completion percentage seventy point two. He's fourth in touchdowns with

(55:19):
twenty three, which again I think he's twenty eighth or
twenty ninth in pass attempts. That's a remarkable stat. Number
one in QBR seventy five point six. That's a crazy number.
Number one QB rating one sixteen. He's firsteen yards attempt,
first ten yards completion.

Speaker 7 (55:36):
Rock perty Will he win the MVP?

Speaker 5 (55:40):
Now we know what type of award.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
This is the last time a non quarterback won the
MVP was twenty twelve.

Speaker 5 (55:46):
I believe it was Adrian Peterson and.

Speaker 3 (55:49):
All he had to do was come back from an
ACL and rush for two thousand yards. Right, you look
at this award, it's become a quarterback award. But look,
Tyreek Heels having a better season than he is. Hill
is on pace to receive over two thousand yards. And
I think that other positions don't get enough of love

(56:09):
when it comes to the MVP.

Speaker 5 (56:11):
But we all know what drives this league.

Speaker 3 (56:13):
Who's the first guy you see on the commercials. Who's
the last guy you see leaving the field? Who does
everybody want to interview? It's the quarterback. I don't think
I think Rock Purdy. I think every quarterback is a
system quarterback. You get in the right system, a system
that fits you, you are a system quarterback. Dak Prescott
system quarterback to a system quarterback. Even Pat mahomes the
system quarterback because Andy Reid allows him to do all

(56:35):
the things that he does. So when people say system quarterback,
I'm like, everybody's a system quarterback.

Speaker 5 (56:40):
You got to get into your system. But is he
the MVP of this league?

Speaker 2 (56:43):
No?

Speaker 4 (56:43):
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
I'm gonna stick with my receiver buddy and say Tyreek
Hill right now is and should be the MVP of
this league.

Speaker 5 (56:52):
You know what's messed up?

Speaker 3 (56:53):
What's that a couple of years ago Cooper Cup won
the Triple Crown and wasn't even really in the race
for MVP. We know how this is going to go.
A quarterback is probably gonna get it. But I'm going
against the grain. Tyreek Hill Hall at your boy.

Speaker 6 (57:08):
Yeah, he's got some serious consideration. You know, I know
that Deebo Samuel won't, but I could almost put him
up there when I watched him last week. Look, he's
got one hundred and sixty yards rushing. The man is
he's at nine hundred and twenty seven yards. I'm sorry,

(57:28):
are you? Are you right now?

Speaker 7 (57:30):
He's got nine hundred and twenty seven yards receiving.

Speaker 6 (57:32):
He's averaged eighteen point five yards per catch, eighteen five.

Speaker 7 (57:37):
Matter of fact, their whole offense they got.

Speaker 5 (57:39):
Hurb ain't even the best on his team.

Speaker 6 (57:40):
George Kittle's averaging fourteen to seven, Deebo Sam's averaging fifteen
to five, Jennings fourteen one. I think we have one
guy above those numbers. I think he's under serious consideration.
I think if he gets the number one seed in
the NFC, I think he's gonna win it.

Speaker 7 (57:59):
Now, here's the good news for that. The last the
last guy to win the MVP and win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (58:07):
It's like twenty years ago, you know, and I want
to almost say it could have been Tom Brady.

Speaker 5 (58:14):
I don't remember it, or Elway. I feel like it
might have been Way.

Speaker 6 (58:17):
I'm telling you, it's been a long time, and you
know what, our producers probably gonna find it and say
that was two years ago. But it was a long
time ago because it was one of those weird stats
that you didn't really want to win the MVP because
no one ever won the Super Bowl. Right, but he
is certainly deserving of it when you have those kind
of numbers, and those are they're beyond great numbers. If

(58:38):
he threw the ball one hundred times more, it's not
even close.

Speaker 5 (58:43):
He ain't the best on his team.

Speaker 6 (58:45):
But here, okay, how about this. He's fourth in touchdowns.
He I think behind Mahomes. I bet Mahomes throwing it
two hundred times more than him.

Speaker 5 (58:55):
It's see Mahomes three hundred and one time.

Speaker 7 (58:59):
And it was it Mom's war too, Okay, Kurt Warner
ninety nine before that. So I was right, other than
the great Patrick.

Speaker 5 (59:07):
I was right, other than gonna bring my wife into
the situation. Huh Well, there was all this stuff first.

Speaker 7 (59:13):
Twenty years ago or twenty twenty two.

Speaker 5 (59:15):
All right, you say yes, I say no.

Speaker 7 (59:17):
I say yea.

Speaker 5 (59:18):
All right, we got more to do.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
We'll be joined by Kenny McIntosh right here in person.

Speaker 5 (59:23):
That is next on.

Speaker 1 (59:24):
Hawk's Live, Hawkss Live, presented by the Dining District of
a Bellevue Collection at Bellevue Squares Center Court live on
air on Seattle Sports.

Speaker 3 (59:41):
Welcome back to Hawks Live on Michael Bamas with Paul Moyer.
We are joined now by Seahawks running back Kenny back Intosh.

Speaker 5 (59:48):
Give it up one more time.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
Oh my god, you gotta say, man, we we we
pretty much related, man, because your brother went a while
doing I'm a cool so that makes us fan.

Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
I just figured out that information when I walked up here.

Speaker 8 (01:00:03):
That happen.

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
But that's crazy though. Yeah, man, but what man believe
two years ago they went crazy.

Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
He gave us a run game when we really needed it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
I definitely, definitely.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
I remember one game that was thrown out there and
my parents told me they couldn't even see the field.

Speaker 6 (01:00:20):
That's a and that's a long way from home, man,
that's not even Seattle.

Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
Man.

Speaker 7 (01:00:23):
That pullman, that's.

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Fathering their father.

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
You know what I'm saying, I'm at the bottom of
the mount from South Florida, and what I'm saying, that's
so yeah, that's that's too far.

Speaker 4 (01:00:31):
I don't know how he did it. I don't know
how he dealt with it.

Speaker 7 (01:00:35):
And sorry, I've taken you on a different route.

Speaker 6 (01:00:38):
Was gonna bring it there later. But you know, his
brother went to Notre Dame and then he transferred to
Washington State. Not a lot of people do that other
than bump Us who went there right out of high school.

Speaker 7 (01:00:47):
But what what got him there? Uh, to Washington State.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
So he ended up going on Notre Dame, like you mentioned,
after going to being there for like two or three years,
I want to say, he ended up leaving, went Juco
East Mississippi left, he went Crazy East Mississippi, broke records there,
and then ended up at Washington. So you know, he
just had, you know, a trust little journey that bed
he made. You know, you know, everybody goes through ups

(01:01:14):
and downs and stuff like that. So you know, and
fortunately he got this opportunity to go, you know, play
in the XFL. I want to say, I believe in Houston.
So he got his chances and he studied working, he
studied grounding for the opportunity again. So they kind of
worked out.

Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
Yeah, was on last chance.

Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
You ah, man, they left the year before he got there.

Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
You know what I'm saying. He just left the went
to I think it was in Indy. He just left.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
But that's man, that's the school that everybody watched on
Netflix and everybody seeing the man yelling in his screen,
IM in the stands and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
He was there.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
I went there actually to go see him there and
witness it myself. So it was a you know, a
nice experience.

Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
One man, you five hundred yards receiving your last year
at Georgia.

Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
Yeah, is that?

Speaker 8 (01:01:57):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
Is that something that you kind of grew into or
did you receive the ball in high school as well?

Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
I grew up, you know, just wanting a ball in
my hands, man, And then I actually played different positions.
You know, I was an athlete. This as an athlete,
so but it was just something about that ball being
in my hands. So I fell in love for playing
running back. So it wasn't even just running back. I play,
you know, most positions, like I mentioned, so quarterback. Just

(01:02:23):
having a ball in my hands.

Speaker 4 (01:02:24):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
But when you mentioned catching catching the ball something my
dad always did for me when I was a little
boy in the house, man just talking about me. So
you know, catching the ball was just you know, nothing,
nothing major to me, just so you know, the second
second nature, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (01:02:38):
So it was just easy.

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
So running routes and stuff like that, and just being
an athletic person I was, and you know translated easy.
So after I figure out that was a special team
in my game on the football field, you know, I
just bought into it.

Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
And you started stopped doing running backs drills. I'm not
gonna lie. I started doing running wide receiver drills.

Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
I wanted to run routes and you know, be crispying
my routes and stuff like that, because I knew that
was gonna be separation from you know, me playing running back.
And you know they already divided running backs and my
dad played running back. So that's how I knew all
these things when I was younger. So he taught me
all this always been in my ear and let me
know about that. So you know, I had to stand
out and do something different in my game, and you know,
being able to catch the ball with something that separated

(01:03:14):
me from a lot of guys.

Speaker 6 (01:03:15):
Well, you mentioned you're you're an athletic guy. I mean
you come from an athletic family. You mentioned your one
brothers running back at Washington State.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
I think it's a dj J R McIntosh at Washington State.

Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
RJ mcantoish Miami.

Speaker 6 (01:03:28):
He was Miami defensive end played in the NFL for
for a few years as well. What other things you
do in high school? From from an athlete standpoint.

Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
I played basketball, I played I ran a LiOD track
outside of my high school, you know school, but I
did track on the side. But basketball was mainly my
main focus at the football.

Speaker 7 (01:03:46):
Everybody thinks they can play basketball and have you had
to go and shoot and uh and I did.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
A few times. I did a few times. I can't
tell you my record right now because but no, I
did a few times though, I'm you know.

Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
I get out there.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Hey, so you know how this goes in high school? Right,
There's three states that think they got the ballers. Cali, Texas, Florida.
Now I'm from Cali. We're from Cali. And now I
went trained in the NFL in Florida, and uh, that
was my real when I go, Yeah, these Florida boards
are something different.

Speaker 8 (01:04:21):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
And one of my dudes told me he played at
Florida State. He went on to play in the NFL
for a while.

Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
I don't know if he was gassing me up or not,
but he was like, yeah, man, we going chase rabbits.
I go get out of here. You ain't chased. No, ding,
that's real.

Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
No, that's that's real. That's real. Man. People go out
there and chase rabbits for real.

Speaker 10 (01:04:36):
Dude.

Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
Well, I can't speak for myself.

Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
I'm from Sport Laddale, but I don't seen and heard
people from North Florida, up north a little bit, you know,
up there, that do that and chase rabbits. I actually
played against guys on the teams and you could just
see the separation of the difference of it's cratle speed
that it is up there. Because I'm from South Florida
and you know, playing against people from Florida that's you know,
up north, and you know everybody says South Florida got

(01:04:59):
to speed. But going up north a little bit, them
boys the chase little rapids man and man them boys.
You can just see it on the field, just see
the separation. You know, it calls on the game. So
it's crazy. It is different there. It's something about the
water though they say though it might be water down there,
the water might be different.

Speaker 6 (01:05:16):
But now with that being said, you know, Georgia thinks
they got a bunch of athletes, to which they do.

Speaker 7 (01:05:22):
And you a Florida kid, your your brother goes to Miami,
how do you end up going to Georgia.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
I wanted to win, man, I wanted to win, I
wanted It was a lot of things I wanted and
that Georgia provided me.

Speaker 10 (01:05:37):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
So like I'm bringing you back to high school, Man,
I went to a private school in high school, Davy, Florida.
Not too big, we want. They wanted the national championships.
I want to say two years before I got I
got there in my eighth grade year, so I started
playing eighth grade football varsity football for five years. So

(01:05:58):
that was another reason why I went to the school
to go there to play varsity football. So then after
I got my offer to go to Georgia, getting out
of Florida was like a no brainer, you know what
I'm saying, because Florida schools wasn't Miami. Ain't like the
old Miami Florida, not like the Florida or Florida Florida state.
They just had their great best year, their best year
this year and didn't even made the playoffs. So what
I'm saying, so Georgia was, you know, the next thing up,

(01:06:19):
and I wasn't able to feel that, you know, at
high school, like I said, we went in the biggest school,
Like I could have went to Saint Thomas acquaringness. Everybody
know about Saint Thomas is an American heritage down there.
But I ended up choosing Georgia because I wanted an
old line. That's one to me, being a runner back.
I needed an old line to run behind that's gonna
protect me out there.

Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
And I wanted to win. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
I want to go out there and compete with the
best of the best, playing in the SEC best division,
and you know, out there and compete with the best,
Like I said, running best.

Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
It was RBU.

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
First of all, Georgia's RBU. Everybody knows that. And you know,
I consider myself to be the best. So you know,
coming from South Florida, we got a mentality out there
and we're not scared to compete. So that's something I
always had in my head as a young kid, and man,
when I knew Georgia was offered, it was a no brainer.

Speaker 6 (01:07:06):
Well and when you did, I mean not very many
guys get to say they are a two time, you know,
college football champion back to back. But but Georgia, when
you went there, they they weren't what they are yet.
I mean they obviously they mean great, great name. I
mean I had friends from California actually went to Georgia
when people weren't going to the SEC. But they just

(01:07:29):
the experience going there, all the recruiting trip, talk about
just uh, Kirby smart and what made it something so special.

Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
That well, like I said, they actually were was on
the verge of you know, winning. They was just going
through bema. Bema was up in the road they couldn't
get over, you know what I'm saying. So actually I
told this to Kirby before I committed to him. I
told him I wanted to beat the reason or part
of the reason that we won, or beat THEMA. So
that just talking to Kirby, man, like you said, I
taught to him, had you know, countless of the conversations

(01:07:59):
with him, and just how he kept it's so real,
not just him the whole coaching stuff, the relationships we
built on the old line of coach of course, you know,
he just kept it so real with me and just
made me feel comfortable man. And I felt the brotherhood
there and that's something that you know I had at
my high school and something I want to go into college.
So the brotherhood is something that you know, caught my

(01:08:20):
attention and also them, you know, they was going to
the national championship but just not winning because BEMO or
going to SEC championship, just not winning because of Bama.
And I wanted to be because of your competitor, like
I mentioned, I want to be, you know, a part
of that team because I knew he was. Even so
if you see the games, you know what I mean,
SEC Championship, they were supposed to win. One call messed
it up the game, you know, so little things like that,

(01:08:40):
and I just knew that Georgia was going to be
the team you know, beat them.

Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
And they did more than that, you know what I'm saying.
They did more than that.

Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
You know, God blessed me with two national championships, like
you said, and you know, not a lot of people
can say that.

Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
No longest flight ever took was leaving Washington State and
going to Afford lot of them to train. The longest
flight ever. I hop off the plane and I'm like,
I'm in a totally different place. I'm on first of
calling things Turnpike, I'm like, what the heck is the turn?
We got a big o wa Iguanas in the middle
of the time, Pike like, it's a whole different world man,
And yeah, I was there for eight weeks and it

(01:09:16):
took some adjusting.

Speaker 8 (01:09:17):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:09:17):
So now you did the opposite. You went from down
there up here. Man, What was that journey like and
what are the differences and how do you like it
up here?

Speaker 8 (01:09:25):
Man?

Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
First of all, I live it up here. I got y'all,
got me up.

Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Here at a great time when it was the summer,
the sun was, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:09:33):
Got you everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
You know, everybody was outside, you know nowadays like nah,
this time and season, people not outside no more. You know,
it's raining, it's foggy, you know, and stuff stuff like that.
So that's the number one difference, the biggest difference there.
But you know, down south, Uh, that seemed I'm not
gonna lie. I'm kind of happy guy got me out

(01:09:55):
of that scene. You know, Like I always experienced being
away from the house. I'm the youngest out of my family,
so I always did things differently. Literally, I was spoiled.
I was able to do stuff different than my older saying.
So I wasn't always a home as much. I was
always gone. So that's probably another reason I went to Georgia.
They get away, you know what I'm saying. So now
that I look at it, that I think God blessed

(01:10:17):
me by coming up here, you know, getting away from
South Florida, because you know, it's the same like people
people that's not from there. You know, I hear this
all the time, people that's not from there, and they
go to visit, they fall in love with it and
stuff like that. I grew up with it and seeing
it and did everything I can do down there, you
know what I'm saying. So of course that's my home.
I'm always going to, you know, go there. I'll always

(01:10:39):
be back there and find my way back there, you
know what I'm saying that. But up here, man, it's
just different.

Speaker 4 (01:10:43):
Man. I just love the people here. I love the fans.

Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Number one, I think they know the twelves I said,
I love them. I think they're you know, special. I
think the brotherhood here on this football team too as well,
like I mentioned, and that takes that takes too far
away if you.

Speaker 4 (01:10:57):
Don't know that a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
So that's why I mentioned it, because the brotherhood and
what the guys do on the day and the basis
not a lot of guys can do it, man, and
it shows and you know, the beat it for your
brother each and every day, it shows a lot as well.

Speaker 6 (01:11:11):
Yeah, I mean I was going to ask you that
that just that you talked about the love and the
brotherhood when you're at Georgia, and obviously what Kirby belt
there is it similar here.

Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
With definitely many I said that my Fireman catch up.
But everything since I got here, man, and even the
coach is gonna say, Man, everything I seen at Georgia,
I see here and I want to say Kirby got
it from Pete of course, but everything is just similar.
The meetings, the walkthroughs, the practice, everything just how we

(01:11:43):
go about things, how he want us to think. How Kirby,
You know, Kirby, that's another thing.

Speaker 4 (01:11:48):
Kirby man do a.

Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
Great tremendous job of getting the guys to buy in,
buy into their roles, buy into what the responsibilities, you know,
getting them to grow up and to be a man.

Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
And I think that's what took us far at Georgia.

Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
You know, we used to have these meetings called called
me is just to you know, dive into your brain
and mentally, like we already know, you know, five stars
for the stars. He don't care about that. You want
to know, you know, you mentally tough, you know what
I'm saying. So that's the little things we did at Georgia,
and they got us far, you know, because we already
knew he was gonna be physically prepared. But when they
get to that time, how you're mentally gonna be, you know,

(01:12:20):
that's gonna take you far away.

Speaker 4 (01:12:22):
So that's another reason.

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Do you hear about Because I'm obviously Georgia put guys
in the league, right, she got dues you played with
who are in the league at different teams. Do you
ever compare stories about how the culture is different, how
experiences are different with with your former teammates from like
different teams.

Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Yeah, of course, man, of course a lot of guys
don't got to like me. I can say that right
now up here. Man, Pete take care of us. He
do a tremendous job. I can just see that already
now by by how the old heads are on the
team and how they take care of their bodies and
stuff like that. So a lot of guys on the team, man,
they're not getting the same amount of you know, love

(01:12:59):
that we uh at dealing with Pete here and stuff
like that. So a lot of guys going through it
like it is like they're still in college, if that
makes sense, going through camp like it's still in college.

Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
If y'all know what that is.

Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
It's harder, you know what I'm saying, you have the
more pass on you, you out there longer on the
field and stuff like that. I'm not saying that we
don't do that here or we don't compete, because that's
that's that's the theme of the you know, of Pete's memo,
you know what I'm saying. So all it is you
got to come and be compete each and every day.
So I think, I think, I think Kirby and Pete

(01:13:34):
are you know, definitely one of the talk coaches, and
they you know, they the game because just how how
mentally prepare they get us.

Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
That's well, you know, like we're we're affiliated with the team,
right we covered the games pre halftime in post so
we always ask about guys, and we ask about you
and and the word is like you never have a
bad day, like you show up the same every single day.

Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
I'm sorry about that again, but I'll try to you know,
show up and be the same person going because I'm
you know, like I said, I'm my brother's keeper. Man.
Even if I'm having a bad day, you probably won't
know about it because I don't want you to, you know,
feed off my energy because I'm having a bad day.
You don't got to have a bad day, you know
what I'm saying. So I try to, you know, Hiday,
even if I do have a bad day, you know,
hide it with a smile.

Speaker 8 (01:14:14):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Everybody then they can't tell you if I'm smiling, what
I'm going through. If I'm smiling and stuff like that.
So but yeah, man, I just try to keep my
energy high, man, bring the team together, bring laughter to
the team, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
Be that just my character.

Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
That's the type of guy. You you know, I can't
play football, I'll be angry, you know what I'm saying.
I can't. I can't play football. Man, I'm gonna go
out there and do something crazy. So you know, as
long as I be myself and you know, keep that
smiling my face, make everybody else love, you know, just
may just make sure they're in a good mood and
stuff like that, it's gonna take it as so far
away believe it or not.

Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
So I learned that at Georgia as well, too.

Speaker 7 (01:14:46):
Well, we we could talk to you for I really
could now. Just you know, we we do this every week.

Speaker 6 (01:14:51):
We have people and you know, just the way you
think through your your thoughts on this man, you just
you got a great soul. I mean it comes out
a really natural I got a real quick last question.

Speaker 7 (01:15:02):
Now you're up there.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
What are you we got to.

Speaker 7 (01:15:07):
What do you like to do on your free time?

Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
I like the fish. I like to watch movies. I'm
a good movie guy. But I do like to go
out there and get on that water. Sometimes I cast
it out to ease my mind peaceful.

Speaker 7 (01:15:19):
I like the bowl.

Speaker 4 (01:15:20):
I'm a good bullet. I'm a competitor.

Speaker 7 (01:15:23):
I don't have to go anything.

Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
What it is doing.

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
We can do whatever, ping pong, trash ball, whatever, it
don't matter, what to do, stacking our chairs, musical chairs,
whatever it is. Man, I'm gonna beat a competitor and
go out there, you know, to give it my man.
That's that's something I'd like to do.

Speaker 5 (01:15:36):
So that's what I like, Kenny Man.

Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
We appreciate your time, appreciate we can't wait to see
what you do. Man, we watched during camp.

Speaker 4 (01:15:45):
We know, man, I can't wait to shoot.

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
All right, Man, give it one more time for Kenny McIntosh.
All right when we return, man, well we'll close this
thing off. Give you our final thoughts. That's next right
here on Hawks Lit.

Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
The specific Northwest is the perfect backdrop for the holidays season. J. P.
Pettergat Hawks Live presented by the Dining District of the
Bellevue Collection at Bellevue Square Center Court, live on air
on Seattle Sports.

Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
Welcome back to Hawks Live. We were just joined by
Kenny macintosh. Man, if you want to hear a great interview,
make sure you go back and you listen to that.

Speaker 5 (01:16:24):
Me and Moyer have been doing this about four or.

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Five years, interviewed thirty to forty players, and clearly one
of the best ones.

Speaker 5 (01:16:32):
That we've had.

Speaker 6 (01:16:33):
Yeah, that was That's an impressive young man right there.
It's just, you know, just the thought he has and
his answers, and you know, they just weren't coming out.
You know, a lot of like you come out of college, mean,
you're coached a little bit in the media. But he's
he's absolutely for real. He's he might might be my
new favorite player.

Speaker 7 (01:16:53):
So be pulling for him.

Speaker 6 (01:16:55):
And you know, look, we knew when we drafted him
that he had something that was great. One he could
come out of the backfield that he played in a
big time college, a big time playmaker.

Speaker 7 (01:17:05):
I really wish they'd give him some time. Yeah, he
definitely deserves it.

Speaker 5 (01:17:08):
It's about tom Ola. He has some injuries, but now
he's healthy, We're gonna see what he does. But we
know that he is explosive.

Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
He gets his hands on the football, he can go
and you're gonna need those exposive plays this weekend because
you know what the forty nine ers can do, right,
They got four or five guys or liable to take
it twenty thirty forty yards to the house. So I'm
excited just to see how this team responds because they
lost a game that they felt like they could have
even should have won, and now you're playing against an

(01:17:35):
opponent that just re established themselves as one of the
best teams in the NFL. So I think, win or lose,
you're gonna learn what the character is like of this
football team.

Speaker 7 (01:17:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:17:46):
I mean when we lost to the Rams, that was
a heartbreaker, and we did not respond well the next
week when we got beat up by forty ninitors.

Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
Thought we responded pretty well. I don't know what this
one's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (01:17:58):
Here's what I don't think San Francisco is gonna play
as well as they played last week. They were determined.
They played that game like it was a Super Bowl game.
They play it pretty much that anyway. But you know,
maybe there's a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:18:10):
Of a letdown. We've got to win.

Speaker 6 (01:18:12):
The challenge is man, it's on the road, the ton
grass outdoors. Yeah, just you know a lot of things,
you know from that road game.

Speaker 7 (01:18:22):
It's gonna be tough.

Speaker 6 (01:18:23):
I'll know in the first quarter though, right, and it's
got to be we make this thing more physical than
I've always I've always said that because you know, the
forty nine ers are not that big. You know, you've
got to be able to maul, but they're quick and
they're tough, so you better be able to match that,
and actually more than match that, I mean, you've got
to actually put them on their butts.

Speaker 5 (01:18:45):
So tough game coming up, though, Yeah, it's gonna be
a tough one.

Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
I want to see the same type of assertiveness that
we saw out of Geno two. I like what you
said about that throw against the Dallas Cowboys, that slant
a DK medcalp. He made it look easy. That's not
an easy throw, right, There's so many things that you
need to do. Take this safety with your eyes, slip
or himps, get back, and now put it in a
place where only your receiver can get it. Knowing like

(01:19:11):
you mentioned that Bland is going to try to undercut
that thing assertiveness, and even him with his rushing touchdown,
there was no hesitation in his rushing touchdown.

Speaker 5 (01:19:19):
It opened up, he saw it, he went for it.

Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
I think that's when Gino was at his best, right,
when he's playing confident and being assertive.

Speaker 6 (01:19:25):
Yeah, and I really I want to get him up
in the pocket. You know, he he when he steps
into throws, he's much he's he loses it when he retreats.
Now again, it's natural to say, oh, I feel cornered.
I want to escape, right and I want to get
out of the pocket. But the really good ones step

(01:19:45):
into the pocket and you have to trust it. So
you're from California, have you ever you know, been surfing
or boogie boarding?

Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
Yep?

Speaker 7 (01:19:53):
Man, and you get that wave, Man, you got to
trust the wave.

Speaker 6 (01:19:55):
He's not going to crash on you that you know
you're in that tube and it goes silent and it's
like you're in a zone. And that's what stepping up
in the pocket is. And uh, he did that again.
I don't know what that degree of difficulty throw was
to DK, but I'll bet it was one of the
top five for sure, you know, toughest throws to make
all right this year?

Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
So well, you know, we got one more week of
this moyer.

Speaker 7 (01:20:17):
Yeah, everybody, come out. MAT's holiday time.

Speaker 5 (01:20:19):
Last week.

Speaker 7 (01:20:19):
We got gotta be festive.

Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Got a thousand people in front of us right now. Man,
the loyal twelves that we have. We appreciate you guys
coming out tonight.

Speaker 7 (01:20:28):
And I'll bring my I'm gonna wear my Christmas finest.

Speaker 5 (01:20:31):
What you're wearing a match, I want to match.

Speaker 4 (01:20:37):
Let's do it.
