Speaker 1 (00:05):
Snake eyes on the clock. This Texans game is over.
So join me on the field in the locker room
in the tunnels wherever postgame along with my good pal
John Harris, the radio sideline reporter, as we break down
a little bit of what just happened with your Texans
in today's game. And please take a moment to like,

(00:26):
subscribe and review this podcast. There's nothing else like it.
Nobody else is on the field postgame like this covering
your Texans. Here we go. All right, this is a
tough one. Texans fall on the road fifteen to thirteen.
How disappointing is today?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Oh Barry, I will not put this one on the
defense at all, this one. Yeah, yeah, last drive.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
This thing should have been twenty three to twelve in
that final drive. And you know this should have never
been an issue. But offense just today really didn't hold up.
It's into the bargain and be honest, they what five
passes were batted down, couldn't make big down the field.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
The run game was spotty.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
When they got a big run, it was because Damian
Bierce made Brian Burns missing a backfield. It just was
disjointed very much so offensively, Uh, and that's that's a shame,
because you know we're about to fly home after this
one and just kicking ourselves at you know, three and four.
We lost two games now on the final you know
field goals, you know, the one in Atlanta. You know,

(01:26):
I felt like Desmond Ridder played his guts out. Not
gonna say Bryce Young did, but I feel like Desmond
Ritter did everything he possibly could.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
And I felt like the offense did slug back in
that Atlanta game.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Today, I felt like the offense was just not slugging
back for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Game Carolina played a solid ball game, having Burns.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
And Muvu on the field. They were questionable coming in,
but they were they were prime playmakers and just did
things that were not very Texans like. So now you
got to trudge back up hill three and four, try
and get this thing back, going against a really good
Tampa Bay Buccaneers team at home.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, massive bummer. What do you think was going on offensively?
We saw Jared Patterson leave with an injury, but before that,
things weren't clicking all the way as far as Stroud
having time at time, I mean, what did you see
that they kind of threw things off in your mind.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Well, I feel like uh isro Ebro called a really
good game Carolina. Start there to give credit where it's deserved.
I feel like we call a really good game against
the Texas. They're just you know, they're very quick in
the passing lanes. The linebackers were very quick. They made
some you know, knock them in. Lubo had one or
two knockdowns where he was kind of rushing and kind
of not and he just knew to get his hands up,

(02:34):
kind of knew where the Texas were going to throw
the football.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
This is also they didn't get Dalton Schultz involved a lot,
and I thought they would do that. They really didn't
get him involved a lot. They couldn't get the boots
and the keepers really working, and they had really no explosives.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Tank had a couple of nice runs, made a couple
of guys miss and that really kind of got things home.
But they just couldn't get anything down the field at all.
It's just nothing down the field. And I think there
was it looked a little disjointing the offensive line. There
was one play they ran where it looked like the
left side of the line, you know, Ler mean and
Titus just they looked like confused, like they were blocking
one play and there was another play, you know, the

(03:10):
throat to Noah Brown that got called back for I
think it was Noah, it was Nico. They got called
back down field. There was no reason for a man
to be downfield. That made no sense. So it's just
kind of some weird, odd things that happened today, and
unfortunately it's gonna uh, you know, put to Texas at
three and four, and you know, I'm trying to Drew,

(03:33):
I'm trying to come to grips with it.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
It's hard because that's the team. You should have beat them.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
He they had ten times you probably beat them, but
you play them at their place and you.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Allowed them to be in the game.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Once they got in the game, you know, you got
to stop on the goal line and you're like, okay,
like this is it.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
They're gonna fold it.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
They folder to give me credit for that. They played hard,
made plays and they needed to right. Young made plays
when he needed to. And I don't want to hear
anything about that dude being small, because that guy's got
the hard hard as big as the stadium.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
He was, he was the major reason that they're going
home with their first win in the year.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
No doubt. You're about to get on the bus here
to leave for the airport. But that defense sacked him
six times and made life hard for him, and he's
still he stays on for that final final possession. I mean,
what did what did you see defensively? Actually, let's rewind.
What did you see that gives you hope? I mean,
you lose by a field goal as time ticks off

(04:24):
the clock. Surely there were some things that went in
your favor that went well for you today. And I'm
not just talking about Cam Johnson and his six punts,
four of which we're inside the twenty, one of which
is the longest punt franchise history.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah, I thought Cam was gonna be my player of
the game grew, I mean, I really did.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
He was phenomenal. But I mean, look, the defense is
able to get.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
A ton of pressure and I think you know, they
ended up with fifteen points and they ended up with
I think ten where off the field on third down
and there's a holding call down the field Thurday nineteen,
we're holding. And then there was one where John Gernard
just happened to get to face mask and Bryce Young,
you're best a the sack. You're off the field if

(05:06):
you don't grab his face masking. I know Easter said
and done, but you know he had six sacks. You're
all over Bryce, but Bryce Rice didn't stop. But you
had one turnover that turned into a field goal. You know,
the defense, the defense did everything possible today that it
could and gave us fifteen points. You know, offense is

(05:27):
gonna have better days, that's for sure, just today was
not one of them.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
All right, John, you gotta get on the bus to
fly back to Houston. Good to talk with you. Let's
do this again. We'll recoup, we'll regroup, get back together
on Tuesday, doing in the lab. But until then, man safe,
travels home. Texans dropped this one fifteen thirteen.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
All right, brother,
