Speaker 1 (00:05):
Snake guys on the clock. This Texans game is over.
So join me on the field in the locker room
in the tunnels wherever postgame along with my good pal
John Harris, the radio sideline reporter, as we break down
a little bit of what just happened with your Texans
in today's game. And please take a moment to like
(00:26):
subscribe and review this podcast. There's nothing else like it.
Nobody else is on the field post game like this
covering your Texans. Here we go, John Harris. That was
another wild one in a different way. Defense only gives
up sixteen points today, bananas.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Huh, Yeah, I mean it was a it's just kind
of a weird game. You know, they get ten right
out of his shoot, you know, their first three drives,
you know, they got ten and then they ended up
getting only one scoring drive the rest of the way.
I thought, defense, you know, played incredibly, did a really
good job on Kyler for the you know.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
For the most part. You know, he had a couple
of plays where.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
You know, he got out and he did his thing,
you know, and even the touchdown in the you know,
the touchdown in the in the third quarter, Yeah, third quarter,
it was stopped you know, guy's just it's tough to
tackle that guy, you know, and you'd have a hard
time telling me that guy had an ACL tear. My goodness,
But defense came up a big one, need too. I
thought Stingley's interception was a big turning point in the
second quarter, and the offense just gave it up too much.
(01:21):
Just tough day for the offense, and now you got
to regroup and get ready for a game next week
for the AFC South lead against the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's odd to say that tough day for the offense
because at one point there in the second quarter, it
looked like this offense could not be stopped. And Tank
Dell has that forty yard touchdown catch and I was
standing down there, probably ten yards away from you, but
we see Dell make about a zillion little moves and
CJ bien just enough time, just enough time because he
knows I think that Tank's gonna do that. You have
(01:47):
a chance to do that, And Tank makes a hell
of a catch there at the end.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I mean that was that play is just massive because
I think as I was watching it and we were
kind of talking about it upstairs, like I think he's
going for a few here, just trying to get three
points and CJ got a look he liked and you know,
threw it beyond Marco Wilson ended up hitting it deep
out a tank. But you know, there's at one point,
I think of the first half of like three hundred
and fifty yards offense, I'm like, they're gonna just crush
this thing. And just the second half was You'll give
(02:14):
credit to the Cardinals. Jonathan Gannon made some adjustments and
what they were doing. They played a little bit harder,
they got the right mix on the field at that point,
and they were really good and they made plays on
the ball. They made plays when they needed to, plays
in the red zone. I mean, you know, look, if
you get three turners in the red zone, you're gonna
have a shot at.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Winning any game. And that's what they were able to
get today.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
And hopefully the offense can shake it off, Hopefully CJ
can shake it off, and we can get back to
work against Jacksonville and keep the turnovers at Bay. And
he's listen, he's the rookie. He's been avoiding those interceptions
all year with really great reads, great throws, and today
just caught up to him, and that's gonna it's gonna happen.
It's gonna happen to a rookie quarterback. You just hate
that it happens, but it happens in the game that
(02:53):
you win, and that's you can live with them.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, there's clearly some things you got to clean up
offensively on the ground. You have another one hundred yard
day from Devin Singletary, but almost all of it comes
in the first half. What you saw the first half. Goodness, gracious,
it's gonna it certainly should pay dividends for this offense
down the line in the weeks to come, right.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, I would hope. So, you know, it was a
good Cem Motor run. It just hit me that all
five interceptions have come and wins for the Texans, which
is weird. It's the strangest thing I think I've ever seen.
He threw one against the Saints that went for a
first down later through one last week, aast the Bengals,
and then he threw three today, So all of them
come and win, So haven't heard us, which is kind
of interesting. So, but the run game really kind of
kept everything at bay. It just really couldn't get it
(03:31):
going the way you wanted to. But I got to
take off coaches going in first presser. But yeah, it
was just, you know, tough day all round. But they
don't put ugly win or one pretty win. They just
put w and that's what we came up with.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
And it's the third in a row. Thank you John
Harris for the time. Texans had not won three in
a row since twenty eighteen. On a roll play in
the Jags next weekend. Let's go back into the locker
room and talk with some more folks. Hey, Devin Singletary,
tell me about the first half, in particular, you on
the ground was working.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
What was going right for you?
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yeah, you know, big guys getting getting a lot of movement,
you know what I'm saying. Uh, And we was just rolling.
We had a lot of a lot of momentum. And
we was rolling.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
On an individual front. Though, what were you doing?
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Well, Man, I ain't have to do much. I just
I just really had to run, you know what I'm saying.
The big guys up front was creating holes. The guys
on the outside a getting clean box and uh, just
just being me, you know what I'm saying, Just finding
ways to make a play.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
You kind of relive and retell the touchdown. What happened
on the run there?
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah, you know, uh, I think it was on I
think it was George. He got off to the to
the backer that put me on the safety right now.
I don't know if that was a tight end or receiver,
but somebody somebody else came and cracked the crack the
safety and all I had to do is make a
move and get to the end zone.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
When the offense is running the way it's running and
I'm saying on the ground and in the air like
it wasn't the second quarter there, it looked like you
guys are unstoppable.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Yeah, you know, that's that's big.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
You know, we talked about executing all week, and you
know we was we was able to execute enough to
get to win.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
You Yeah, how about on the other side of the ball,
what you saw, defense only gives up sixteen points to day.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
That's big, that's big.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
You know, that just shows you know, we got what
it takes, you know, and that's gonna be big for
us down the line.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Devin Singletary, thanks for the time, yes, man, no problem,
all right, We got right tackle George fan with us
right after a victory. George, how sweet is today?
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Oh? Very sweet?
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Man?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Like my assume I came in locker room. I said
it right away, it's a it's an NFL victory, man
like this, this is one of them. Grinmy victories right here, Man,
like this is you can win one of them, like
right now. You know it kind of shows you can
do it later on this season. So I feel like defense,
if you look at the last three three weeks, we
had three game winning streak. It came down to the
last last draft. Last two was offense, man, and defense
(05:45):
came up eight for us this week. Man, So we're
coming around as a fourteen right now. Man, I'm really
happy and proud of our guys. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
I want to touch on that in a moment, but
you just brought up the defense. Yeah, sixteen points allowed
on the day. That's a dangerous, very very good quarterback
over there.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah. I mean, like I said, Man, these dudes making
some plays. Well. College is coming back showing he's e
laite quarterback again. We got guys that are making plays. Man.
Stein had a hell of a day always on the line, man,
those guys played really really well. Uh. Happy for our
defense tip with for our team.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Hey, winner lose, there's all this stuff you can improve upon,
you guys. At one point the same quarter didn't look
like the offense could be stopped. What was going on
right then? And how do you keep that going for
a full game?
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah? Man, those dudes get paid too, man like that
the offense, that defense coordinator get paid too, man, you know, so,
so they gonna go out there and make some adjustment.
I think they make some really good adjustments. I think
we stopped ourselves a few times. This week's gonna be
a really a really huge week for us to go
back and watch the film and really fix those things, man,
because you know team's gonna be looking at it and
trying to find different ways to stop seven in this offense. Man. So, uh,
(06:48):
this week were gonna were gonna dial in and go
out there and uh go out there, fix the fix
the mistakes we had this week and get ready for
next week.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Second week in a row. Motor gets motor Singletary gets
one hundred yards like what are you guys doing up
because he says, tell them, I mean, what are you
guys doing up front?
Speaker 3 (07:03):
For man, we make it a certain effort. Man, like
we we we we're taking a challenge right now to
be the best offensive line in the NFL. Uh, we
know we stand and we know where we want to go.
There's some things we need to fix. There's a hundred
yard hundred hundred plus yard again, rushing yard game again,
but uh, it's still not to our standard. We got
a standard in our room that we want to get
to and we're gonna, we're gonna keep going to get
to it.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Is that the coolest part of all this. You guys
win and it's not to your standard.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah, Yeah, I think it is. Man, I think I
think we left a lot on the table. Uh, And
I know that in that room, in the offensive line room,
we're not happy with it, you know. So, so we're
gonna we happy to get the win. We're not happy with
our performance in that last in that last quarter, in
the last half. So uh, we got the guys in
the room to do it, and we're gonna we're gonna
make sure we get it done.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Not happy with it, but you're happy enough to go
celebrate and have some fun.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Tonight, right, Yeah, most definitely, most definitely most that.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
George Fake have a good time thanks so much for
the time you Well, I'm doctor Christian Harris. Another game,
another win. How sweet is today considering what you guys
as a defense were able to do, especially late.
Speaker 6 (08:02):
No, I mean it's real, real big for the team's
really trying to keep stacking. I know, we know we
got to take this thing one. We got a time
and go one and know every week at a time.
So I mean, like I said, I mean it's just
great for us to get this one right now.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Dangerous quarterback, good quarterback. He only gets the end zone twice.
She only allow thirteen points as a unit. How impressive
is that? When you think back, I think about what
y'all were able to do.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
I mean it's major for us and our confidence for sure.
Speaker 6 (08:23):
I think you know, also one major thing is us
expecting us to do that, expecting us to perform, expecting us.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
To do the details, be on the details so we
can have a outcome like that.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
And I think you know, mainly right now is just
consistency and trying to continue to build on that.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
You're able to block a few passes I might have undercut,
you might have had three or four, but you were
batting down some balls today what's.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Going on in that.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
I mean, you know you got a shorter quarterback, a
low ball flight, So I mean, you know you're watching
d Lineman. You know, coaches emphasizing with them throughout the week.
You know, get your hand up, so you know, whenever
I got my opportunity to come off the edge, I
just try to take advantage.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Tell me about what you guys did on the final
drive as a defense.
Speaker 6 (08:57):
Just really, I mean, I'm not gonna lie. It is
playing ball, like trusting it coach, whatever he was calling.
I mean, I think you know that that tackle for
loss we had on that last drive, I led the
second and fifteen I think you know, like it was
regular man covers that it was a great call for us,
and they ran the screen and you know he was
able to build momentum off for that and just sending
pressure at him.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
And you know, I mean that's really it.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Three wins in a row. What's next for you guys?
Speaker 6 (09:21):
Man, Keep going, keep stacking, trying to get another one.
Just want to know every week, so you know, you
call and you put in the time throughout the week,
and then you know, you go try to execute on
Sunday and regardless of the result. You you know you
reset on Monday. So this is what we do.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Big time game and a big time win.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
Thank you, Christian Hirst, so I appreciate you
