Jeffrey Gorman and Matt Taylor are back with this week’s edition of The Last Word, the Colts' offseason radio show. They dive into the team's in-house free agents and discuss which players the Colts should prioritize and reflect on the 2025 rookie class, including standout seasons from Liatu Latu, Adonai Mitchell, and offensive linemen Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves. Finally, the guys are joined by Clark Judge, longtime NFL insider from the *Talk of Fame Network* and Pro Football Hall of Fame voter. Speaker 1 (00:05):
The NFL never sleeps. The roster is ever evolving, and
it's all about finding the edge. This is the last word.
The off season home of the Indianapolis Colts. Now here's
Jeffrey Gorman and Matt Taylor.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Welcome in every Friday evening ninety three five one, mayte
Matt Taylor, myself. I'm Jeffrey Gorman coming up on tonight's show,
may Tey. We're going full steam ahead. The super Bowl
is in the rear view mirror, and we got a
lot to go over because this is going to be
a busy off season for the Colts. We'll get into that.
We're also going to talk to Clark Judge from the
Talk of Fame network. He's also a Hall of Fame voter,

(00:45):
so we're hopefully going to have a chance to tee
off on Clark Judge, jeff for a couple of minutes. Maddie,
I mean, what are we thinking out there? Adam venteris
still on the shelf, the best of ever kick footballs
with a great passion like no one else has ever
done it. Yeah, we're gonna have some fun. We're gonna
tee off on Clark a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, that's why I said, when I invited him on
the show and I reached out to him, I said, hey,
can you be a punching bag for like twelve minutes.
You know, you are one out of fifty guys that
represents the entire group, right, So we're gonna just take
our shots at you. You're gonna have to sit here
and take and explain how this new process works and
why guys like Adam Viniti and Regu Wayne are still
out in the cold when it comes to Canton, Ohio.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
But now Clark's a great guy.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
He's gonna give us some more insight in the process
and what it looks like for Adam Vanenterian regu Wayne
down the road and their prospects of one day getting
into Canton. While talking about the Colts, lou Ana arumos
here his thoughts on Anthony richardson this offseason.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
So it's gonna be a good conversation.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
A whole lot more coming up with Clark in a
little bit. But maytay, we got the free agency primer
time of the year right now, and the Colts have eighteen,
that's right, eighteen unrestricted free agents in that locker room
this offseason. Some of the big names, Dioa, dangbo EJ.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Speed.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
This is gonna be a busy offseason for Chris Ballards.
Some of these fellas are gonna be back, some of
them not gonna be back. We gotta start shaping this roster.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah, you mentioned Adoi, dang bo e J Speed, Julian Blackman,
some other starters, Moeli Cox, Ryan Kelly, Kylon Grantson, Will
Fryes so eighteen in total. Like you said, unrestricted in
house free agents this offseason for the Indianapolis Colts, and
free agency officially begins March tenth, and up until then,

(02:26):
all of those guys in house, just like all the
other teams in the NFL, their in house free agents
can negotiate with their teams, but then at noon on
March tenth, they can negotiate contracts but not yet sign
them with other teams. That's known as the legal tampering period. So,
believe it or not, that period of time is gonna
be here before you know it, which is why we're
talking about this. And the Colts have some really interesting

(02:49):
and I think in some cases hard decisions to make
based on the guys they bring back for next season
that are up in terms of contracts.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Go ahead, mate, give me some big names, biggest priority
for the Colts this offseason. You got anybody that you
think right now they're not going anywhere, they're staying put.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Well, I think you can make a strong case to
want to bring back most every player on that list.
But if you're asking me for a priority list, I
think you start with the guys who have started a
lot of games and played big time roles, and then
you factor in depth at that position, how tough it
would be to replace that player, etc. So with that
of mine, Jeffrey, I think you have to start with

(03:27):
I'm going with Will Fries. To me, he's turned into
a really nice player. And when he went down with
that fractured right tibia in Week five, Jeffrey, the Colts
had to turn to an undrafted free agent in Dalton Tucker,
and then when they felt like they needed to upgrade there,
they had to bring in Mark Lewinsky off the street
and he had to start the final couple of games
of the season. So, to me, Jeffrey Fries is where

(03:49):
I would start. He's really turned himself into a mainstay
along that offensive line that was really good last year.
He was a seventh round pick, but he's really come on.
He started twenty nine straight games that he's appeared in,
and at the time of his injury, he was ranked
number two, the number two guard in the NFL, and
the ninth best offensive lineman in the NFL according to

(04:09):
Pro Football Focus. So, as you mentioned, the biggest caveat
for him is the injury. But you and I talked
with him at the end of the season on locker
room clearout day and he was moving around pretty well.
He was feeling good. So if he's trending towards being
close to one hundred percent by the spring, that I
don't think there's much too. I don't think there's much

(04:30):
negative on his free agency resume, if you will, So
he would be a guy that I would start with
in terms of priority. But everybody else you mentioned too
has a case. But he's really a tough guy to
replace based on the value that he's giving you the
last couple of years in the player that he's turned into.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Hey, we're gonna see some new faces. Some old faces
will be coming back, but those rookies from last year,
they got a season under their belt. Hopefully different players
across the board that year one jump to year two
is always a big one. Let's stay there with the
rookie class. Matt Taylor, Leatu Latsu Okay number one at
NI Mitchell number two. Those are last year's top two
draft choices. Just give me a synopsis of their first

(05:10):
year in the league and what you expect out of
those two in year two.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Well, lotso, I thought it was solid. You know.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I go back to a conversation we had with him
near the end of the season. He said, Jeffrey, if
you remember, you know, he said in college he could
just go dominate the tackles across from him because he
was just better than they were. But in the NFL,
all these tackles are elite, and he's not just gonna
predominantly win every down like he did at UCLA and
at Washington. But still had a pretty good season as

(05:37):
a rookie, played over half of the snaps, which was
probably higher than what the Colts were expecting before the
injury to Samson, ebcom and training camp. I'm excited for
a lot too, in the sense that now he can
kind of take some time off hone his craft, rewatch
some of his own game film, catch his breath after
that last season at UCLA. Then he goes to the

(05:58):
draft process, the Colts offse workout program than the longest
football season of his life. With eighteen games, It's just
a lot for rookies right across the board, So I
think you're going to see a much more impactful football
player for next season. And then for ad Ni Mitchell,
it was a year I think defined by growing pains.
He said at the end of the season. There were

(06:18):
a lot of things that went into his up and
down rookie season, just twenty three catches, fifty five targets,
and a little over three hundred yards.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
He said.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
In college he was the VET, he was the pro,
but up here in the NFL, he was a rookie,
a guy learning for the first time, and a lot
of different things to process. So I think with one
season under his belt, he's now going to be able
to focus on taking what he learned applying it to
his performances next year. Hopefully the quarterback situation for him

(06:47):
is a little bit more stable. But I think, certainly
Jeffrey he's capable of a lot more than what he
turned in this past season.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
That's Matt Taylor voice to the Colts may tay you
talked about it earlier. You know, I'd like to see
Ryan Kelly back, Like I said, I like what he
brings to the offensive line, and obviously with Will fries
At playing at the high level that he was. But
let's not forget about mac gunnslves Tanner Bordolini from last
year's draft class. Bordolini getting spots starts at the center position,
and Gonsalva is moving all across the line. You feel

(07:16):
pretty good about these two going forward.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Yes, absolutely, and their presence, specifically Bordolini's, really impacts Ryan
Kelly's free agent stock. I mean, I'm speaking for the
both of us, Jeffrey. We love Ryan Kelly around here.
Great guy. He has been a great cult, great leader.
But the harsh reality of the business is when he
didn't get a contract extension last year, going into a
contract year, plus the drafting of Tanner Bordolini, it did

(07:41):
raise some questions about his future with the Colts. So
he is a free agent. We're going to see where
that lands. But Bordolini came in and played well in
those starts at center when Ryan Kelly was banged up,
and then gonzalves to your point Swiss Army Knife left
tackle and right tackle, and with Braden Smith's person matter,
it's fair to wonder if Matt is not in the

(08:03):
mix to really compete for the right tackle job starting
next season. So those guys played a lot, they played
well at combined thirteen starts last year, and I think
they're both long term factors along that offensive line after
being drafted last season.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Good stuff today. May Te love the outlook and what
we are looking for for twenty twenty five Colts fans.
Don't forget the NFL Combines coming to Indianapolis. Mayte, myself,
Casey Valier, Lara Overton, JJ Stankovitz will all be down
there bringing you to the latest and the greatest, potentially
seeing who the Colts will be drafting in the first
round and beyond. Don't forget the Colts commitment to the

(08:39):
growth of high school girls flag football. It continues the
team's goals to launch one hundred high school girls flag
football teams by the fall of twenty twenty five, and
the Colts are providing up to ten thousand dollars in
resources for the first one hundred schools that join. We
need your help. Get your local high schools and the
communities involved. Visit Colts dot com slash Girls Flagged to

(09:00):
learn more. That's Colts dot com slash Girls Flag. Well
we come back. We're gonna tee off with Clark Judge
about why he didn't put Adam Venteri and Reggie Wayne
into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Actually he couldn't
do that by himself, but he is a Hall of
Fame voter, and hopefully he gives us a little bit
of clarity as why as two of those Colts greats
are still not in the Hall of Fame. That's coming

(09:21):
back with a whole lot more. Matt Taylor Voice to
the Colts. I'm Jeffrey Gorman. This is the Last Word.
Ninety three five, one oh seven five.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
The fan can't get enough football.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
You are in the right place.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
This is the offseason radio home of the Indianapolis Colts.
The Last Word with Jeffrey Gorman and Matt Taylor from
the Indiana Union Construction Industry Radio Studio.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
I mean, with first and foremost, if you think about
bringing a defensive player to help up host our unit.
First of all, lou is a well respected DC in
this league. I could just from the Pro Bo. Every
single player that I met that played against him, that
was on the same team as him, even offensive guys
from Mixing to Jamar to all those guys had extreme

(10:05):
respectful lou and just talked about his defensive mind and
his ability to put players in positions to succeed. And
then you know, we got probos at this point, player
makers at all three levels, you know, and myself, the
Forest and Kenny Moore, so you know, add another dynamic
playmaker to that mix, whether the secondary, d line or
linebacker room is only going to add to that and

(10:28):
help make this an all time unit.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
That was Zaire Franklin and his synthesizer player on the
Jim Rome Show this week Coach Defense, may Te, I did.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
I got into that Zaire Franklin and Booker T and
the MG's what a combination.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
But it works?

Speaker 6 (10:44):
Baby.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Yeah that was nice.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
But hey, I hear what he's saying. Obviously excited about
lou An Rumo coming in, may Te. He's saying, one player,
one elite player away from this defense being very, very dominant.
Are we talking about one elite player away from this
thing being elite?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Well, I mean that's certainly up for debate. But I've
been on this for years, agreeing principally with Zaire Franklin.
There's way too much individual talent on that defense. Like
you said, Pro Bowl players, pro Bowl caliber players in
all three levels of that defense.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Way too much.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Talent to collectively be where the defense has been the
last three years. So lou an Arumo coming in fresh
perspective on things. You bring in an edge rusher to
the mix, You bring in another savvy veteran in the
secondary into the mix that can help disguise coverage and
play smart tackle, well, then I think you're really onto something.

(11:40):
But that defense, I agree with Zaire Franklin, way too
talented for it to be where it is.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
But they've got a lot to prove.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
The core is still coming back for next season, and
I think they've got a chip on their shoulder after
what happened last year, plus something to prove with a
new voice in Loui an Arumo now as the defensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I wonder if Chris Ballard listened to that SoundBite or
read a little blurb from the Jim Rome Show talking
about one of his defensive captains asking for a little
offseason help. Hey, it's coming up the free agency right
around the corner, NFL Combine as well as the draft.
Don't forget the last word. Brought to you by our
friends at Meyer Meyer, the official super center of the
Indianapolis Colts and proud sponsor of hundreds of local sports

(12:22):
teams across the Midwest. Time now to sit down with
Clark Judge from the Talk of Fame networks. And he's
been covering this league a long time. And I love
talking to Clark Judge, and most importantly today he's a
Hall of Fame voter. So let's find out what's happening
in Canton, Ohio with Clark Judge. Recently, Clark, we saw
a couple of the Colts not get in another time,
and like on behalf of a lot of Adam Venteri fans.

(12:45):
I just kind of wanted to start there. And when
you talk about the greatest at their position ever to
play the game and the guy doesn't get in on
a first ballot, does that soil it a little bit
for this guy's legacy as far as not getting in
on the first ballot.

Speaker 7 (12:58):
No, it doesn't. I've said this many many times before
and I'll mention it to you guys when You've got
a class of potential physicians and a med school.

Speaker 6 (13:07):
What do you call it?

Speaker 7 (13:08):
The guy who graduated last.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
In his class.

Speaker 7 (13:10):
I'm a doctor, you know. Yeah, make sure it was
whether you go in the first time or your last
year of eligibility, which is twenty years down the road. Now,
that said, the most qualified candidate in this class, in
my mind was Adam van Ry. For this reason, he
was one of two people at his position on the
one hundredth anniversary team. Now, I want to make sure

(13:30):
before I go any further, you understand this. I'm not
criticizing the board. I'm not saying what happened was wrong,
but I will tell you that it approximates what happened
to someone who's his resume is very similar to Adam Vanity,
and that's the kicker whose records he surpassed, Morton Anderson.
I mean, Morton Anderson was the all time leading scorer

(13:53):
when he retired, and he not only was an All
decade player, he was a two time All Decade player,
which means he was the best at his position for
twenty years. Now he's not on thee hundredth anniversary team,
and I think that's significant. The both of multiple All pros,
multiple Pro Bowlers, obviously one of the big differences as
Venitarry went to Super Bowls, he was won four of them.

(14:14):
That's a big deal and that carries a lot of
weight in that room. But he's a specialist, and we're
not eager to jump on specialists no matter what the
resume is. I mean, you get really can't come up
with a better resume than what Adam Vanity says. Not
only did you look at it in black and white
and see it on a piece of paper, but you
watched him so many game winning kicks, with that forty
five yarder in the blizzard at Foxborough probably the most noteworthy.

(14:37):
But he went two Super Bowls, the last minute kicks.
I don't need to tell you, guys, you know it.
But what happens is that he made it to the
final seven, and that that's great. But Morten Andersen took
him five years of eligibility and four tries as a
finalist before he finally cracked through. And I'll never forget
what happened. Someone said when there was some discussion, it

(14:57):
was some pushback and so and mentioned, well, let's to
say punters and kickers need not apply, Okay, because this
guy's the best, you're gonna get That kind of convinced people, Yeah,
maybe we should put him in, and we should and
we should put this guy into more at Vanitaria is
gonna get it. He just didn't get in on the
first try. But as I said, I'm not trying to
justify either side. I just kind of understand the process.
I thought he actually got farther than I thought, just

(15:20):
knowing the history of that room. And we've got what
four specialists in Canton four, We've got Jon Stener and
he's the only first ballot, especially said the Hall of
Famer kick a Ray up on a Ray.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Guy.

Speaker 7 (15:30):
Took great guy over twenty years. He's the best punter
in my lifetime. Took him over twenty years to get in.
Morten Anderson and I told you about him. And Devin Hester.
Devin Hester, one of the all time great returners, got
in his third try. So now we have an adventitarian.
As I said, I just look at that resume and think, gosh,
it's hard to beat that. But when it comes down
to the seven and you have to pick five, it's

(15:51):
gonna take me way too long to explain this. But
the situation. That's just not going to work for many,
if any people, beyond the minimum of three. Right, they
say there's a minimum of three modern neer a candidate's
and a maximum of five. What it does is it
splits votes left and right. I guarantee a Keikley inventitary
probably split votes. Andrews and Willie Anderson Tory hope they're all

(16:13):
Hall of Fame worthy. They didn't get in that and
that's what happens. That's exactly what happened.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Clark, really quick, what do you think of Reggie Wayne
getting into the Hall of Fame with this new committee
the way that it's set up, which I believe you're
not a great big fan of the way it's set up,
if I'm not putting words in your mouth, but this
new system that they have is going to keep the
likes of Reggie Wayne waiting a little bit longer.

Speaker 7 (16:34):
It seems like a little bit, I think a long time.
Look at how it's look at how it's set up.
You have seven candidates, You take the top five. The
four who didn't make it this year are grandfathered in
automatically next year as finalists. So we've got four finalists
right there. I mentioned where they were a keik Ley
Hold Anderson inventitary. So they're already grandfather. They're gonna be

(16:57):
finals next year. That means, okay, they're eleventh possible. Well,
who's coming up next year? Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald doesn't
take a rocket signs disfigure. They're going to be not
only candidates, they'll probably be first ballot Paul of Famers.
And then you've got, oh, wait a second, we've got
Frank Orr third all time lead in Russia. Would he

(17:18):
be a finalist? Let's just say he is. Okay, that's
down to eight now eight openings. Well, Larry Fitzgerald plays
what what was his position? Wide receiver? Okay, he's added
to the mix. You already got Holt. Who's going to
be in there? Holt and Fitzgerald then are two gimmes.
I don't think it takes a genius to figure it out.
That's gonna happen, all right, Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith. We're

(17:38):
not doing four people at one position for that few
number of available positions. But Reggie Wayne hasn't gotten any
tracks in the last two years. He didn't make the
first cut. Steve Smith was in for the first time
this year. Does that mean Wayne stays because next year
is I think seventh year as a finalist. Or does
it mean that people go listen, he has no traction.

(17:59):
Listen to start concentrats and Steve Smith maybe come back
to regulate. I think again, if you're looking at three
people for the foreseeable future, unless those rules change, if
you're looking at what seems to be three people for
the foreseeable future, as I've mentioned it to you, because
of the difficulty of trying to separate, you know, seven

(18:20):
and splinters votes and everything. So let's just say we
got three. Okay, We've got Breese and we've got Fitzgerald.
I'd say his first ballot. Guys, next year, I'd be
surprised if that weren't the case. That means you've got
one other spots, So you got picked one of these four.
All right, how about the following year. Let's see the
following you we've got Ben Roethlisberger, Adrian Peterson and Rob Gronkowski.
Who okay, maybe you got spot for one. That means

(18:43):
one of the four here, okay, what about the following year,
We've got Tom Brady and kJ Watt Okay, I think
you can see where this is going. I mean, there's
very little room for maneuvering upwards, and that's bad news
for someone like Reggie Wayne. I'm not saying he's not
getting in, but I'm just saying, all of a sudden,
that's a real hit of people at the bottom end

(19:05):
of the totem pole. And those five guys who didn't
make it the first year, well, you know Suggs was
the first year guy. Well, okay, he'll be back or assume.
But Reggie Wayne's been there for a long time and
there may be voters to say, listen, we need to
move on. I'm not saying that's gonna happen. I'm just
saying that might. He's certainly Hall of fame where the
all fifteen of these guys were. But a guy like
Fred Taylor, I mean, this is the second year there.

(19:27):
I could see him being supplanted by somebody. I'm not
saying it's happening again, but I could see that happening
as a possibility until unless they change these bylaws. That's
what you're looking at. Guys. It's a very stagnant group,
and I know they wanted to make it tougher, more
exclusive to get in the hall. It's what Dion Sanders said, right.
I don't disagree with him. I think there have been

(19:48):
some instances where we lower the bar some However, I
don't think they envisioned this happening. And if you just
do the map, probably more the ruling exception. I think
this is probably the new normal until get it changed
in the Bible.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
There's no doubt about that.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
That's Clark Judge with us longtime NFL insider from the
Talk of Fame Network. You're listening to the Last Word
the offseason radio home of the Indianapolis Colts. I'm Matt
Taylor along with Jeffrey Gorman bringing things back to the Colts. Clark,
what do you make of the Colts potential now on defense?
Lou Ana Arumo is in defensive coordinator. How much belief

(20:23):
do you have in the core of the Colts defense
that's been together for a while now under a new
scheme and some new twists on things with Ana Rumo
now in charge.

Speaker 7 (20:32):
Well, you tell me, I saw Louis an Rumo and
Cincinnati did a great job and that when they got
to the Super Bowl, it wasn't just Joe Burrow. It
is Louis an Aruma's defense. Terrific guy, a terrific player.
They had Jesse bass In as a safety. Once they
lost Jesse Bates, I didn't think they were up to
super Bowl caliber, and honestly, I would tell you that
this past year. I was a big Josh Allen Lamar

(20:54):
Jackson MVP guy. I mean one of those two, right,
But if you actually meant most valuable, not most valuable.
Joe Burrow. Yeah, he didn't have a defense, he didn't
have a offensive line, didn't have a running game. But
lou An Rumo doesn't need to answer to anybody me.
I think that was a great pickup for them because
he did more with less. At times. With Cincinnati, they

(21:15):
just had few key playmates. They lost too many guys.
I mean they had some, you know, Henderson's one of them.
But you've got to get the players. You get in
the players you get in the right players, he will
he will give you the defenses capable of going a
long way, and he demonstrated that now clearly he had
a superior quarterback and Joe Burrow is one of the
best in the game. So I think that's something I

(21:36):
don't worry too much about kind of worry about the
other side of the ball, to be honest with you,
and specifically that position, quarterback.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Yeah, let's let's pick up there. Last one for me.
You mentioned Anthony Richardson right, good transition. Obviously had his
ups and downs last year. Talked openly at the end
of the season about being needing to be much more
intentional with everything that he does from here on out
starting this offseason. That's your belief in AR being able
to put it all together. And I guess better said

(22:05):
put up better individual results starting next season. From how
you cover the league on a national basis.

Speaker 7 (22:11):
Yeah, he certainly has talent. I mean, you have the
talent and there are times when you see him and
go there it is. I mean, that's what we're talking about. Now,
let's get going and Nei'll take a couple of steps backwards.
There's no consistency there. And yeah, it's a great running back.
So it was justin fields. You know, he's a great
running back too. You need a guy who can also
be a really good quarterback. He doesn't. That'd be great

(22:31):
And I haven't seen that consistency there. I see some
passes sometimes I go, what what certainly got to complete
a lot more than fifty percent of your passes and
in this game more like sixty sixty five, close to seventy.
But you have to make the plays and they're dialed up,
and I haven't seen that from him. I haven't seen
the accuracy that I want. I haven't seen the progression
that I want to see. Some vestiges of it, and

(22:51):
some instances where I think, you know, maybe that's the guy?
Is that the guy? And there's just such inconsistent consistency
that they're really is it any way you can come
to a conclusion. To me, this is a huge off
season for him. He has to demonstrate to them that
you don't need to look elsewhere. And can it happened,

(23:12):
Absolutely it can, but it probably has to happen. Now.
I've got back to San Diego Chargers in the early
two thousands when they had Drew Brees. After three years,
they essentially gave up on him, and so they drafted
Eli Manning and we know what happened there. Eli Manning
was traded for Philip Rivers. They wanted Philip Rivers. He
was going to be the starter, except that's when Drew

(23:34):
Brees became Drew Brees and they won a division title
and then went whoop, Now we've got two good quarterback
about the kids. Things worked out because the following season,
the last game against Denver, Breathe hurt his shoulder. You know,
we know what happened as a free agent goes to
New Orleans and Philip Rivers takes over. You don't have
that situation there. But Breathe in his third year demonstrated

(23:54):
to them he wasn't the guy they thought, and so
they drafted Philip Rivers. That's a cautionary tale for Anthony Richardson.
Great talent, but he's got to put it all together.
If he doesn't, somebody's going to move on, and that
would be the administration. I think they go, we need
to look elsewhere because we're not getting anywhere here. We
haven't seen enough progress to keep this happy. And fortunately

(24:15):
for the Chargers, Breeze turned it around this fourth season.
Anton Richardson could but really depends on what happens in
this offseason is certainly what happens next year.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
He loves quarterback play, He loves the Beatles, he loves
the who. He loves Todd Rungbren and we love you,
Clark Judge, appreciate you taking the time. Hey, real quick,
what sort of any asterisk does anything going up against Mahomes?
He kind of laid it done in this recent Super
Bowl and that guy's going to walk into Canton Hall
of Fame one day, But boy kind of laid an
egg on that. Were you expecting that out of this

(24:45):
Philly d No?

Speaker 7 (24:46):
I was not, because I had seen the Philadelphia defense
two years earlier and I thought, boy, they're going to
get after him and they couldn't. They didn't, And I
thought that defense was as good as this, but it wasn't.
It wasn't coached by Vic Fangio. And there's an interesting
thing here. I talked to my wife about this afterwards.
A few years ago, I had podcast with Ira Hoffman
and we had Tony Dungee on. Tonny's been someone I've

(25:07):
known for many, many years, and so is Ira. And
I did ask him at that point, is there anything
you can do to stop my Homes? And he said sure?
And I was like what he had said, Yeah, you
rush only four guys. You don't blitzen. He will carry
you afar to get blitz him. But you rush four guys. Now,
the key is you have to have the right four guys,
and I'll take you back farther than that. I go

(25:28):
back to two thousand and seven and twenty eleven with
the Giants versus Tom Brady. After the twenty eleven game,
I went into camp the next year, I saw Ocumannor
and I said to him, you know what I gotta say,
you guys, you finally drove home a lesson to me.
He said, what's that? I said, A great pass rush
by four guys trump a great quarterback. He looked at me,
when where have you been? What's wrong with you? Where

(25:48):
have you been? And And that's what it came down to.
If you can pressure him with those four guys. As
the Giant pressured Brady with four and dropped everyone else
in the coverage, it confused as a quarter back. And
it should you watch the homes when people blitz him.
He does just dissect the secondary anyway. He just he
tears him apart. But Fanjio was confident enough that he

(26:10):
didn't deal up one blitz now one and that's the
team that had been blitzed. I think until like a
quarter of the time brilliant maneuver. He thought, my defensive
line can overpower your offensive line, and I'm gonna prove it.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
And he did awesome stuff as usual. Clark Judge. Follow
him on Twitter x at Clark Judge t of You
can find him on the Talk of Fame network and
a great podcast Talk of Fame too. Hey, let's catch
up after the combine, after the draft in that area
and find out what's going on in the AFC South
and see if we're gonna find out how many quarterbacks
we have in that AFC South pretty quick, Clark, let's

(26:42):
do this down the road.

Speaker 7 (26:43):
Yeah, let's catch up after my next Todd Runggren concert.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
Yeah, yeah, hopefully it's coming up with you.

Speaker 7 (26:48):
What's that, April?

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Whoa there it is Well.

Speaker 7 (26:53):
Richfield, Connecticut. He's doing Birdbacker. It's gonna be a I'm
really I'm fired up for it. I am fired up
for it.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
So Jeff your well, I know guys up there to
promote shows. So I'll get us the backstage passes. We'll say,
hey to Runger. That's a deal, all right. Cee you
in April, Clark Judge, thanks for the time. One of
my favorites right there. Yeah, we will be watching some
music together. Clark Judge, Hey, you want to see the

When we come back, we're gonna give you the Forum
Credit Union Question of the Week with showcase Casey Value.
We're gonna be talking some Valentine's Day as well, and
one of the worst songs ever created by a Beatle ever,
and I'll give you a hint. Paul McCartney coming back
with the Last Word ninety three five one oh seven
five The Fan.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
This is your weekly fix on Colts football, The Last
Word with Jeffrey Gorman and Matt Taylor from the Indiana
Union Construction Industry Radio Studio.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
Hey, I'm all for the Beatles, guys, I'm all for them,
all right, not this one. And I know this isn't
a Beatles song. This is a McCartney song.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Awful, you know what that song? What's wrong with this?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
It's just it just doesn't do it. I mean, be
be Bett, I mean I do like the horn section.
I'll give those guys present.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Little Chicago actions on rent.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Too much going on, McCartney with your silly love songs.
Get out of here. I understand. Though it's Valentine's Day.
I get it.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
If you don't like this song, Jeffery, you probably don't
like the classic Christmas hit The time is right, I
actually neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
I didn't think I could hate a song worse than
he loves. But you're right, we're.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Just bagging on a beatle on him Friday.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
I know. But I love McCartney, but he's had a
couple of clunkers. Yeah, I said it, all right. I'm
just gonna be right.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
There is Valentine like Tom Hanks. Everybody thinks Tom Hanks
is immune to.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
A bad movie.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Oh that's good.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Good, there's a lot of bad. I mean, people are
gonna be throwing tomatoes at the radio right now. But
Tom Hanks has made some duds. I'm just gonna say,
all right.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
Plenty of time, Matt, go ahead and start start at
the top. Give us one bad Tom Hanks movie.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
What was the one where he was stuck in the airport?

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Oh, Forrest Gump, No passenger, No, I I was like
that one where he's in love with that's Tom Hanks.
That's that's locked in an airport. And by the way,
I just that's I just can't oversee that he's got
a guy on speed dial that he can get out
of the airport. So here it's timed out for the
Forum Credit Union Question of the Week, and it's a

(29:54):
good one. I mean it's quite simple. It's Valentine's Day.
May take Casey Valier, what is the worst and core
is Valentine's gift that you've ever given or received? I
want to start with showcase Casey value.

Speaker 6 (30:06):
This one wasn't me, but it was a friend of mine,
and I'm gonna totally throw him under the bus. He
tried to be real creative and he had this is
like he's probably twelve or thirteen, and his parents had
just bought a new fridge, so we had a fridge
box and he put a whole bunch of those packing
peanuts in it, with a bunch of like different little trinkets,
and like, you know, I had a picture of him

(30:26):
and then you know, some candy and he gave it
to my neighbor and she just kind of was like
what do I do with this?

Speaker 4 (30:33):
And he was like, you're my Valentine? Have you?

Speaker 6 (30:35):
And she's like going through all this stuff with him
standing there like, oh thank you.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
He's twelve.

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Oh yeah, so like twelve thirteen were right before heigh school.
It was the most awkward and we were all sitting
there watching this unfold. It's like dust and sorry, man,
this one missed the mark big time.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
Poor guy. Heart was absolutely right. Heart was absolutely there.

Speaker 6 (30:58):
We still we still give him some some grief about
that twenty years later.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, well, give us an update on the kid. Is
he scarved?

Speaker 4 (31:06):
He's married, has.

Speaker 6 (31:07):
A couple of kids, doing just fine for himself.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
So perfect, mate, your turn. You've been married a while now,
mayte give me a bad Valentine's case? Yep, so you
may have given Sam.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
Right, Well, this is thank goodness. This is not a
Sam story.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
But good as you guys know, I had a hair
band phase in high school. So I made the brilliant
idea back in the days of like Napster and LimeWire,
I made a hair band mix CD to a crush
I had in high school for Valentine's Day. So songs

(31:41):
like Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse Jeffrey, I Remember
You by skid Row Without You Motley Crue, you know,
Love Walks In by Van Halen, which I will still
argue that's a great song. But yeah, but you know what,
looking back on it, wow, But at the time it worked,
and Casey you can probably appreciate this too more than Jeffrey. Uh,

(32:04):
that's a lost art that this generation does not know. Absolutely.
The the mixed CD or mix tape was such a
powerful display of emotion, right you going to the trouble
to put a list of songs together that you think
describes the way you feel about someone. Our kids will
not know what that's like, and you have to you

(32:25):
have to put the special words on that with the sharpie.
Don't forget because you're writing it at the top right,
and well, what they're gonna get. I mean, that's a
good one man, that's not corny, and that's not the
worst Valentine's Day gift of all time.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Tip of the hat to you. You're like doctor Chicago,
like a as a lover for half the year.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Yeah, I felt like Fabio handing that over to her Locker.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
I'm telling you, I got nothing. I've been a lone
wolf for a lot of years. So, I mean, it's
a mad made sort of holiday. And I think the
worst thing I ever sad was like just a meme.
You know, it was like Happy Valentine's Day. It was
like very corny. I mean nothing, I'm terrible when it
comes to that. Hey, the fan forum section you can
go to colts dot com interact with other fans online,

(33:06):
post a topic, participate in various discussions regarding your Colt's
forum credit union helping members live their financial dreams. Guys,
let's get it going. It is Friday, so let's get
fired up.

Speaker 7 (33:17):
All right?

Speaker 5 (33:22):
Good?

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Great, wonderful that go? Hey see value, let's hear it.
It is Friday night. It's about eight degrees I heard
in Indianapolis right now. So what's got you fired up?

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Like you would know?

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Yeah, I know, right am?

Speaker 6 (33:35):
I fired up? And I hate to be critical. Super
Bowl parade is over? Why did they wait so long?

Speaker 2 (33:41):
See?

Speaker 4 (33:42):
I like the fact they wait until Friday.

Speaker 6 (33:44):
I'm just is this normal practice lately? Like I feel
like most of the time, it's like, all right, we're
gonna have the parade on a Wednesday. You know, the
Super Bowl's done, you have your obligations the day after,
and then you.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
Have the parade.

Speaker 6 (33:55):
If I was a fan of Philadelphia, I would love
it being on a Friday. This might as well. Take
the day off off of work, go into the weekend.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Absolutely beats a heat of a Tuesday or Wednesday. I
just right in the middle of the week. That's where
I'm confused.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Is this normal.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
President's Day is Monday? I think it's genius. Okay, more
teams are gonna see more teams.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Doing mar Absolutely, Maddiochi, what's got you fired up?

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Well, I'm right now in defense of the Eagles parade route,
I'm fired up. I got some hoops tonight, right, you
got IU and U c l A. I'm fired up
to try to put my kids to bed tonight. I'm
it's a competition for me to see how well bedtime
goos tonight after them being jacked up on Valentine's Day.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Candy that's all day long.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Also, I'm fired up that there the Bluff Road is
getting some potholes filled this weekend.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
I feel like it was like driving on Mars. Jeffrey.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
I already got one flat tire this this winter. I
don't need another one. So fired up about Taylor. The
government love filling potholes.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Bluff Road out in the sticks, I imagine. I don't
think I've ever been on Bluff Road, but boy's just
been a fun one. I'm just gonna leave with this
my Valentines and I will be going to an in
and out Burger later. Those are only available on the
far on the West coast. As you know, I am
in parts unknown. I'll leave it at that. Where I
am at right now, in and out Burger is available.

(35:13):
So guys, I am saying, audios, have a great weekend.
I'm going to stuff my face with the double double
casey value, Matt Taylor. I have Jeffrey Gorman coming up
next PSP and Radio
