Speaker 1 (00:05):
The NFL never sleeps. The roster is ever evolving, and
it's all about finding the edge. This is the last word.
The off season home of the Indianapolis Colts.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Is Friday the thirteenth. Welcome in? Does that mean good
things are bad?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Is? How did I go all Friday and not even
realize that?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Wow, I'm not a scary movie guy. What does that mean?
Does that mean omens positively or negatively? Should I expect
to win the lottery? Or be uh have my tires
slashed on the way home?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I think it's one of those things. It's like raining
on your wedding day. Some people say it's good luck,
some people say it's bad luck. Oh right, So what
do you think raining on your wedding day is?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Like?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Oh, I just didn't think we were gonna get an
Atlantis morrisse at drop in about forty five seconds into
the show, But here we are. Hell yeah, I love that.
There you go, Casey Valley a big Alanis Morisset guy.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Oh I was a massive Alanis Morris that guy back
in the day. Not so much anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Does you have new music? I mean, yeah, Jagged Little
Pill was a great album. I mean, you know, I will.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I'll take your word for it, all right. How about
that right in my wheelhouse?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
You know, it was like you turn on the radio
and it was mix of pop and some rocks. So
every channel they were playing it.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
B ninety seven. Casey Value, I'll be here until midnight. No,
we are the last word. We're gonna be here for
the next half hours. So we are the weekly off
season radio home of the Colts Again. That's Casey Valley,
I'm Matt Taylor. We're inside the Indiana Union Construction Industry
Radio studio talking Colts Ball for the next half hour.
So we're gonna get you back to Pacer Talk with
(01:38):
JMV and just a little bit leading you all the
way up to game action tonight, Game four of Pacers
and Thunders coming up eight o'clock pregame show, eight thirty. Tip, Casey,
where are you watching the game tonight?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
I'll be at home. I'll be watching it at home
and right got the kiddos with you. Yeah, So we've
we've had this little method where we keep the kids
entertained easy. You know, hey, hey there's a big run here,
come on back down and then you go play with
your toys. And luckily it's you know, it's summertimes. We're
letting them stay up a little bit later, and my
whole thing is here, you go. They haven't been in
the in the finals in twenty five years. Who knows
(02:10):
who they're gonna be against. I want my kids to
be a little bit able to enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
I'm glad it's a Friday night, so everybody can stay
up a little bit later.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
I don't have to watch it on delay on the DVR,
you know, don't talk to me, put the phone down,
don't text me. Alerts can be you know, hide those
because I want to watch it organically and feel all
the excitement. All right, we're talking about the excitement of
mini camp that just wrapped up this week for the Colts.
Three day mini camp done and over with. It also
means that the off season workout program is done and
(02:38):
over with for the Colts. So, casey, the next time
you're gonna see everybody, players and coaches and staff on
the same field, that's gonna be the first day of
training camp in late July coming up at Graham Park
in Westfield. So let's get into the nitty gritty here.
Case meister, What were your overall big takeaways from camp
this week?
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, I thought, I think what we've kind of talked
about all week is the the smooth operation that Daniel
Jones has had of the offense. I think everything has
looked pretty fluid to this point, which not necessarily was
saying that I didn't expect it, but this soon. I
was not anticipating it, being almost so comfortable inside the framework,
(03:17):
which is a really good thing. We know we're gonna
have a competition battle between he and Anthony Richardson, you
know when Anthony can get back on the field, But
right now, Jones is taking full advantage of everything he
can right now. And it was a really flawless week
for the offense, especially that first group.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
No question about the offense looks The word I use
is crisp, right, It looks sharp. Yeah, And we talked
about this earlier this week. Daniel Jones doesn't look like
a guy that was signed on March whatever. He looks
like he's been here the whole time. Command of the
huddle is good, situational work looks really good, look really
good in the red zone two minute drills, and then
(03:53):
people around him are kind of starting to thrive a
little bit. I mean, Michael Pittman junior looks really good,
ready to take off a big year, and we talked
about this guy. I think on Tuesday, ad Mitchell might
have had the best just big play, splash spring out
of all of the skill players. I mean, Tyler Warren
looked really good. But Jim Bob Cooter, offensive coordinator for
(04:15):
the Colts, just raved about the jump that ad is
experiencing great attitude and just stepping up his game, getting
more out of him and more comfortable in year two
within this offense.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
And one of the things when you watch ad Mitchell,
I mean, the talent is there. His route running is
not an issue at all. He is so incredibly quick,
Like there were a handful of plays this week that
he was able to make a move and a lot
of times I stand next to Bill Brooks, who is,
you know, a ring of honor wide receiver for the Colts,
and he just goes, oh, that's a good route. And
(04:48):
it seemed like it was always appreciating ball. And that's
the thing, and it's it's one of those things when
you watch what ad Mitchell can do, I mean, you
get the football on his hands and just watch out
because the talent level is through the roof. So I'm
really looking forward to see what he does in his
sophomore season.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Here.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, you talked about Daniel Jones and the opportunity at
hand here or taking all of the first team reps
at quarterback these final two weeks of the offseason workout program,
Anthony Richardson dealing with aggravation and the ac joint of
the throwing shoulder. That's the same joint that he sprayed
as a rookie and had surgery on. But how big
of a leg up now? I mean, based on what
(05:26):
we've seen and just the opportunity that he had to
take all of these reps with the first team offense. Casey,
how big of a leg up does Jones now have
when it comes to this quarterback competition.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
We knew it was going to be a big leg
up because of the reps and how valuable getting all
those reps and especially on tape. So that now as
we're leading into camp, that's what the staff's going to
be looking at. They're going to be diving into what
they saw throughout this week, and we mentioned it our
eyes we saw pretty crisp, take it a word out
of your vocabulary. There, we saw a crisp run of
the offense from Daniel Jones. So that is a massive
(06:01):
leg up as we head into camp because ultimately, when
you look at what he did in mini camp, it
was really positive and really good work. So that definitely
gives him a leg up. Now, it's one of those
things I'm not saying we wanted him to come out
and not look good. Yeah, but what he did definitely
I think raises that bar and it pushes him a
little bit more up that ladder on who currently is
leading that quarterback competition, and you know it's important to
(06:23):
be available and he's available well.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
And like we talked about these last two weeks, OTA's
and Mini camp, not that the other stuff wasn't important,
but these were very important weeks six practices going up
against a live defense eleven on eleven, seven on seven,
we're getting all of those reps.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
With the first team offense case he all to himself
to show consistency. That's been the biggest word that Shane
Steichen and the rest of the coaching staff and Chris Ballard.
That's the word they've used to describe what it's going
to boil down to in determining who wins this quarterback battle.
So a big chance to show consistency and consistency, like
(07:05):
you said in availability, that's part of this unfortunate equation
for Anthony Richardson. Again, the competition is far from over,
but Daniel Jones got a lot of run that he
would not have received had there been a healthy Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
And ultimately, we have talked about this. There's a reason
that Daniel Jones is here, and it was to push Anthony.
But it's also when Chris Ballard.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Talked at State Farm Insurance policy.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Right, it was ultimately he has yet to show that
he can play an entire season. And that's why Daniel
Jones is here. And here we are seeing the fruits
of all of that because you put the competition out there,
you bring a guy in, you know how these world
class athletes are. You give it an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
And sometimes it doesn't matter, you just need.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
An opportunity, and Daniel Jones is definitely making the most
of that.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
All Right, we've talked a lot about the quarterback situation.
Let's go over to the defense and who has stood
out to you the most about the Colts defense this
spring now under lu An Arumo Casey.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah, so it's been it's been a handful of guys.
I think one of the guys that's really stood out
to me. I think I mentioned him a couple of
times already, but Cameron mcgron. I felt like he made
the most of his opportunities. We have talked about Zaire
Franklin and Jalen Carlis, but a couple of linebackers who
have not been out there, and it's gonna be one
of those things that you know, with this defense, linebacker
(08:25):
is an area that they're outside of Zaire Franklin. There's
not a lot of NFL starts and experience there, so
you're gonna have to have some guys step up. And
I thought Cameron mcgron had a really good week here
in mini camp.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
But then I'm gonna go to build depth right in
that regard just see more action out of him against
frontline players.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, and that's one of the things that I felt
like we saw. But then, you know, we have both
mentioned what this secondary is going to look like, and
I think we saw a lot of that, especially during
this week that there are a lot of pieces in
that secondary that are really going to help this team
moving forward. And that was something that you know, we
put into question a little bit last year where the
(09:03):
depth wasn't there, and this year I think we can
all retract that and say the depth is there.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Oh yeah, I want to talk more about that coming
up on the other side. Hey, reminder, though twenty twenty
five single game tickets are on sale now. Nab them
up at Colts dot com slash tickets to purchase your
duccats through Ticketmaster, the official marketplace of the Colts. Speaking
of home games case, he announced today that Jim Irsay
will be inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor at
(09:29):
Lucas Oil Stadium during the September seventh home opener, the
first game of the season against the Miami Dolphins. Awesome news.
In fact, today is boss Man's birthday. It is yeah,
fantastic birthday gift and announcement as far as that goes.
Jim Irsay will become the twentieth honoree, of course, joining
his father Robert Ersay in that elite club as well.
(09:50):
Jim passed away May twenty first, laid to rest on
June second, and the Colts are developing additional chances for
fans to remember and honor Jim Mersey's legacy. In the
weeks leading into the home opener, We're going to share
more information the club will later this summer as far
as that goes. But as it relates to Jim Irsay's
name physically going up in the Ring of Honor Casey,
(10:12):
I think that we should. It should be a permanent
reminder that the city of Indianapolis is not what it
is without Jim Irsay and his stewardship of the franchise
that saw the Hoosier Dome and the RCA Dome give
way to Lucas Oil Stadium, and I think how those
facilities have been a cornerstone for expansion and have also
(10:34):
helped the growth of the Convention Center and the growth
of downtown Indianapolis. I mean, simply, without Jim's commitment to
this town, there's no Lucas Oil Stadium. If there's no stadium,
there's no Final Fours, there's no Super Bowls, there's no
College football playoffs. There's probably no NBA All Star Games. Yeah,
you know, no Olympic swimming trials, no Taylor swift, no
(10:55):
royal rumble, no matter what you're into, none of that
happens without the greatness of jim Irsay.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
And I think there's also something to be said that
there's no guarantee that the Colts are here. It is
football and that was where you know, he made his
hay because of what the brand of the Colts are.
But I think just the city of Indianapolis is not
what it is without the success and everything that he
poured into this city. I mean, I love that, you
(11:21):
know what the Simons had to say on the day
of the passing about how he not only helped this city,
but he helped sports in this whole state and everything boom.
So I mean it is a great tribute to We've
talked about it at nauseum that he has gone way
too early, but it is going to be something cool
that every time you walk in that building now you're
going to see that name up there.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
So the home opener just got sweeter with jim Irsay
going into the Ring of Honor against the Dolphins week
number one, and again that's coming up on September the seventh.
We'll double back to that secondary that we were talking
about when we come back. We'll be joined my cornerback
Jude juw Brinz. He's part of a very deep cult
secondary and he's going to be playing with a big
time chip on his show older this season, with something
(12:01):
to prove after two injury riddled seasons to begin his
career with the Colts. We'll talk to a motivated Juju
Brents when we come back here on the Last Word.
Stay with us ninety three five one oh seven five
the Fan.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
We talk Colts football every Friday on the Last Word,

(12:46):
here with Casey Valier. Join the Colts in Berlin. That's
coming up. Place a deposit to unlock early access to
official Colts Germany and travel packages. Visit on location exp
dot com slash Colts Germany for more information. You know, Casey,
one of the things we learned in this offseason in
terms of feeling really good about things going into training camp.
(13:09):
We teased it there at the end of segment one.
The secondary you've got buying them ward justin Wally Ballantine,
and then you have guys that are gonna team up
with them like Jalen Jones and Kenny Moore. The second
that unit could go from an area of sort of
a weakness to a big, big time strength from one
off season to the next. I love what I saw
from the secondary in the spring.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
I couldn't agree more. And you know, there's also a
name that I know. This is strange to say because
we haven't seen him play at all, but this staff
has been very, very high on Daniel Scott, the safety
out of cal and he has been He's had two
brutal injuries. Juju Brence has had some injuries, not to
the extent of what Daniel Scott has had, But Daniel
Scott's gonna come into camp and he's a guy in
that depth. Back in as safety that they've been very,
(13:52):
very high on. So you add that in the mix too.
There are a lot of guys competing for a few
spots and that's a good problem to have.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Unfortunate thing about Daniel Scott, he's a draft pick. He's
never seen a regular season practice, I know, because he's
had just that bad of luck with injuries this time
of year. So hopefully he can progress and get within
the mix. But again, don't forget about Juju Brents Now
all right, he's gonna play a factor within this defense. Inevitably,
they always do. If you're on the team, you gotta
(14:20):
prepare an act like you are the starter. He's really
excited for his third year with the Colts. He's played
Casey in just eleven games in his first two years
in the NFL Torres Meniscus and mcl in Week one
last year, played in just nine games as a rookie,
dealt with hamstrings and quad injuries in twenty twenty three,
and we spoke to him earlier this week Casey and I,
(14:41):
and we asked him how he feels this offseason has
gone for him after two really frustrating years to begin
his career with the colts.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
At my eyes has been great.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
I think the main thing for me is just just
being intentional every single day.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Body's feeling good.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
You know, have some little things here and there, but overall,
I feel like I'm in a good spot being to
get back there and just be able to compete.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Sure, it's been good.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
And what are your first impressions being inside this lou
An Remo Defense?
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Aggressive?
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Uh, it's fast paced, balls to the wall like that
type of mentality. I think it's just up in your face.
You know, it's gonna make you, you know, have to beat
us type of mentality. So I think for us it's
a good switch up to allow us to you know,
be able to challenge guys a little bit more out
the line. You know, we got a lot of longer
cornerbacks who have leaves, so we're able to get up
there and disrupt routes or whatever the case may be.
(15:30):
But it definitely is a little bit more aggressive obviously.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Of Juju Brents is with us. How long does it
take you to feel comfortable inside of New Defense? I
know this is year number three for you, but you know,
new new coaches, new terminology, new schemes. It's just it's
a lot of subtle nuances, I would assume, right.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
I think the main thing is just learning the terminology
first one, so get into playbook, the doe dealing, just
study and all that. But after that football football. Like
I said, it's a lot of us just being aggressive,
getting up in Gud's face. And you know, that's that's
what I love to do. I'm a long cordner. I
like to put hands on guys being able to you know,
just throw off their time where the case may be,
but it is, you know, there's gonna be some growing
(16:06):
pains at first, just have some mistakes, but that's why
we got OTA's and once we get to camp, sure,
continue to keep making those stakes, but keep improving. And
then once we get to the week one preseason, you
know we rolling.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
So do you feel like you're close to just being
out there and playing and reading and reacting and not
thinking with this new defense?
Speaker 4 (16:22):
For sure, it just allowed you to play fast.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Like I said, continue to keep learning the little nuances
here and there where it's like some little caveats within
the defense, but the general basis of it, I feel
like we all kind of clicking on those full cylinders, right,
now and then we you know, just keep building off
of it.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
But I feel like we're picking up pretty good.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Now when you look at the way the year ended
last year, there's been a big emphasis in the secondary
with the additions with cam bind them and you know
Mooney Ward you also add justin Wally and in the
in the draft. When you look at all of those pieces,
you know from the outside looking at or looking at
it on paper, it's a pretty deep secondary.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
What if you've seen so far out of the group
as a collective.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Facts and interchangeable parts, that's what we'd like to see,
you know. We all want to be able to get
in there and be able to be able to contribute
the best way we can possible. Obviously, it's only gonna
be possibly what five guys at one time in the
back end that can be able to be out there.
So I think it's just great competition for all of us,
you know, and allows us to you know, figure out
who's the guys who will be out there and then
if your second stream whatever, just you know, on your road.
(17:20):
So I think it definitely brings a room to a
different level by adding guys, like you said, buying on
Mooney Wiley in the draft and just gonna make all
of us better.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
One of the guys you came in with, Jaylen Jones,
He's taking massive strides the first couple of years. Yeah,
I mean, I know how close that bond is between
you guys coming at the same time. How impressive has
it been to watch his career grow and then also
now you join it back up with him this year,
it could be a fun year.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
I love it. I love it definitely.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
You know last year for me just being able to
sit back, just taking like the more mental aspect of
the game, being able to just watch all the guys grow.
Definitely Jayleen, you know, taking big steps. Just proud of the
way he just went out there and competed every single week.
You know, it wasn't always pretty for all of us was,
but I just like the way that he had, you know,
just the mentime to go out there no matter who
it is. I always give him jokes about it, like, bro,
(18:07):
you gotta change your number, Like bro, now, like I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Just own it.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
So yeah, forty bro, I don't know you a corner
is like is too bulky or too big or what.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Once you get above, like thirty five you a corner,
it's just a little different.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
I don't know, you gotta target on you. But he
loved it.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
Though he loved the challenge, he loves he loved rocking forty.
I'm just happy the way he continue to keep regressive.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I'm learning some unspoken rules of the game here, like safety.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
You might be get away with it, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
What's what's the difference between corner and safety? Terms of
the number?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
A little bit aack?
Speaker 5 (18:38):
So like I don't think the quarterback, but like if
you look to us right in his lift and he
see big forty, is like, all right, I might take
a shot.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Oh man, I'm gonna have to throw the challenge flag.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Man spoken rules playing corner.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
But but why can't he rep forty and be the
best forty in the NFL playing corner?
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Right?
Speaker 5 (18:54):
That's what he takeing he likes I'm gonna be the
forty that I'm gonna make the change to wear forty.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Change the perception, right, changing changing the game right there?
That's juju. Bran says with us, you said last year
was more mental than physical, right. You only played two
games week one week eighteen Week one, uh Terrier meniscus
mc l injury. What was the hardest part of that?
Because it was a frustrating start of the season after
(19:19):
your rookie season, only playing nine games. How tough was
that to deal with?
Speaker 4 (19:22):
It was?
Speaker 5 (19:23):
It was very challenging, just be completely honest with you,
especially after my rookie year.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
You know, I'll just having some pretty high.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
Strides because you're doing everything right, doing everything right, man,
taking all the boxes. Just week one, it was just
so detrimentally because I was putting so much work in.
It just takes that one play and it's a contact play,
guy fall on my leg and knee injury.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
It was tough.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
You know, I thought I was a bit to keep
playing on it, but you know how to scan doctors otherwise.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
But I think for me, I just accepted.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
A head on being able to early on in my
career face that adversity and it's definitely going to play
you know, some big games from you back in my
years now. So I've been to the deep waters, like
I know what it looked like. Sure I faced the adversity.
I know how to deal with it. So I think
that's the big thing I gained and then just my
mental aspect of the game, like I'm out there right now.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Thing he's just slowing down for making play. So it's good.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
So it's it's safe to say maybe a little bit
of a silver lining blessing in disguise is that there's
nothing from a football standpoint, there's nothing you can't overcome.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Now, nothing nothing that Uh it's solid mentality.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
And it's just something that the same in life.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
I mean football, yeah for sure, but man, like life,
go throw some curveballs at you. Like everybody says, his
body respond to it. So I think for me that's
been a big thing man. So like I said, I've
been hit with all the curve balls now feeling behind me. Man,
just keep going forward.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
That's juju Brince, whether us in case you mentioned the
guys that were brought in the off season, but Chris
Ballard went out of his way to say, and Juju Brince,
he still has a ton of confidence in you. When
you hear Chris's comments and you read those words, what
kind of confidence does his confidence in you, you know
bring to the situation.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
I love it it definitely does you know. I wouldn't
say rial Schwortz, because I've never lost the confidence even
though I haven't been able to be out there with
the guys. Man, that's the one thing it's like, once
I am back out there, it's right where I left
off at The confidence isn't going nowhere. Appreciate mister Valley,
you know, just continue just to you know, stick by
me and man, once you get back on track, we
go up and roll with So I think for me,
(21:22):
man like, I just gotta be out there as simple
as that. Get the reps and rest.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Go take care of yourself now from you know, an
outsider looking in. You talk about the new defense in LOUDROOMO,
what is something to expect if you're you're looking at
at this defense compared to what we've seen the last
couple of years.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Like I reiterated, it's gonna be aggressive, but we also
do have, you know, different nuances to be able to
switch it up, throw different looks at the quarterbacks where
it may look like, okay, we got a one high
and we pulled out too much. We just throwing the
stuff around. It's just real difficult for the quarterback to
get like a real feel for the game. So I
do like that aspect and then man, it's just like
I said, you gotta beat this, you gotta be aggressive
(21:58):
and go put it in your face.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
And with all of that, how I mean, is that
something you had done in the past. Is that a
type of defense you kind of you know, be that
hybrid We can do all kinds of days.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Comfortable with that for sure.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Back in college Kansas State, you know, they had a
lot of confidence in me to put me out wide
if I had to hold back at being rovers safety
in the back end, come down here and make some plays.
So I'm very confident in being versed on those type
of areas. But like I said, it's kind of similar
a little bit in the sense but it was at
three down in college.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
But you can't do that in the league, right.
Speaker 5 (22:26):
But it definitely has had some little different or similar
nuances that I can see.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
We're kind of intertwine.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Final thing with Juju Brints, going back to those tough
times you had last year, how much of a chip
do you have on your shoulder? Because I think it's
safe to say that we as those that cover this team,
the fans, I think it's pretty safe to say that
we haven't seen the full version yet of Juju Brinz.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Yeah, haven't you haven't seen in the man. I just
want to say, stay tuned like a boat or any
even know Chip is right. It's just the utmost confidence
I have it myself, the pride I have in myself. Man,
Like I'm playing in my city. I just want to
make my people proud. And it's been a blessing. Like
I said, everything that I've been through, like it's all
just led to this point where I'm at now.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
I don't take any negatives from it.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
You know, I'll give a lot of credit to my
mom and just my support cast is to keep me grounded,
right like when it happened, is go happen.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
So this happens, it's gonna make it sweeter too.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
Oh absolutely, so stay tuned.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
It's coming the hometown kid right there from war in
Central High School, that's Juju brents Now. I got to
ask you are you are you following this this Pacer run?
Did you grow up a Pacer fan? As a who's
you're an Indie native?
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Come on, it has been twenty five years, has been
the finals. I won't eat well. I was just born
in two thousand, so yeah, I always been a Pacer fan. Okay,
I'm a real like David West. Yeah right here that era, yeah,
don't my early all right, they're looking forward to it, man.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Heck yeah, hopefully we see you wearing the blue and
gold uh in Games three and four coming up. Juju,
thanks so much for the time man. All the best,
great luck, great health and all good things has to
come here in.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Twenty twenty five. Appreciate it. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
That's Juju Brinz here. We're back here live on the
last word. Casey Value again. I'm Matt Taylor. Just a
little bit of a sight. He was talking about David
West and you know that era of pace. I mean
that was ten years ago.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
It feels like yesterday, isn't that true. I mean when
they showed Danny Granger, I think during one of the
you know, I forget what series it was, I was like, oh,
Danny Granger, I mean he just got done. Oh eleven
years ago.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
I'm old. I am old and crusty. When he's talking
about the the Eastern Conference Finals runs against the Heat
and Lebron James and Dwayne Wade, I mean, that's that's
forever ago, but somehow it's it's in the in the
not so wayback machine in my brain.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yeah, Lebron's been on like four teams, no.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Doubt so, and he ain't playing the finals.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
I want to tell you that.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
So good on Juju brnts. He's really giddy about, you know,
playing in this lou Anaroumo defense, being more aggressive, playing
some more press manned man, showing that physicality. But Casey,
it all boils down to availability, end consistency, no values
and performance like you talked about. He's got a tough job,
but consistency and availability as everything. And you know that
(25:08):
Juju knows that, and you're just rooting for him to
stay on the field and show finally what he can do.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah, you're rooting for that too, especially because I think
his skill set really lines up really really well with
this Ana Roumo defense. I think what is able to
offer in a couple different areas, you really want that
to be on the field. Little Narumo talked about it
this week about how he's got to be able to
show that he can consistently stack days day one after
day two to day three. So let's hope he can
stay healthy.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
All right. The Colts have teamed up with anthem, blue
Cross and blue Shield to recognize school teachers, administrators, nurses,

you by Meyer, the official super center of the Colts

across the Midwest. Casey Value. Here, I'm Matt Taylor on
the Last Word, the off season Home of the Colts.
More Pacer coverage with JMV coming up in just a
few minutes. We're gonna close out the show here case
talking about the Forum Credit Union question of the week,
(26:47):
which is outside of quarterback obviously, what is the Colts'
biggest you know, question mark or hanging Chad, whatever you
want to say heading into training camp now that the
spring is done.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, I would say mine is interior offensive line. We
know we have the battle there at center with Tanner
Bordolini and Danny Pinter and then also kind of seeing
the progression of Mackensalves. So those that's kind of my
biggest question mark. Which is a good thing because I
think you like everything that you know, all three of
those guys I just mentioned you like with the offer.
So that's a good thing, a good battle to see,
(27:19):
and that's kind of really my biggest question mark as
we head into camp.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
All Right, Tanner Bordolini the starter at center. Gut feeling,
that's what my gut feeling says, yeah, Ad Gonzalveez at
right guard, correct, yep. And then who's kicking.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Oh man, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go, Spencer Schrader
just because I think they really liked what he offered
last year. There's kind of confident he is back. I
know he's got a very small sample size, but this
staff really really likes what they saw out of Spencer Strader.
So I think he's gonna win that job.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
And we talked to Spencer Strader last week on the show.
That show is up on demand. It's archives, So if

NBA Finals. Pacers get a done tonight case I think so.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
I'm sticking to what I said the other day. I'm
gonna say they win both of them.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
At home, going up three to one.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Yeah, make it very interesting. Heady, megdo case.
