Speaker 1 (00:17):
And welcome in to Jaggs am j P. Shadrick in
for Kannanie Stevens. This week, it is Week one, the
Carolina Panthers come to town to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Is going to a busy program ahead. Brian Sexton and
John Osier coming up. Let's get right into it ahead
of the Panthers Jaguars match up. Our big Things present
about g eh A Government Employees Health Association benefits for

(00:39):
federal employees and retirees, and yes week one, the Jaguars
need the winning results certainly, but the opportunity and the
process are key for the head coach.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
So it is very important. I wouldn't say, you know,
the season's lost if we don't, you know, have the
much success that we would like to have. But you
definitely want to see that jump that we're talking about
in terms of the physicality, the toughness of nature that
we want to play the game. That's really what I'm
looking for, and to see how we respond to adversity,

(01:11):
because there's going to something's gonna happen in the game
that doesn't go our way, and I'm more so I
want to see how we respond to that and that'll
help me as we moved throughout this season seeing how
we do that, and that helps guys come together as
well as a team Brian.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Of course, that has been a hallmark of the Jaguars
over the last couple of years, adversity. They didn't handle
it very well the first opportunity to see at the
Sunday Well.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Jickie, I mean, since the midway point of the twenty
twenty three season, it's been more adverse than not. And
we've seen enough slow starts around here. The Jaguars have
only won two of their last five opening days, and
they've only won four of their last ten. So when
you've got a new coach with a new regime and
a completely different approach, you'd like some success early, especially John,

(01:56):
when you consider that there are the Bengals, the Texans,
and the Niners coming up in the first month of
the season. You never want to say first win, the
first game is they must win. But this is a
big one.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Yeah, Unfortunately, those numbers you just gave mean they're better
in week one than they have been for most of
the regular seasons lately. Look, I loved Liam's answer in this.
You can't in the NFL put everything on Week one.
I think they have a good chance to win. I
think if they play well, they will win. But for Liam,

(02:29):
I liked that he's looking for certain things. I think
he's looking for physicality defensively, how they respond, how they play.
If it looks like what he wants it to look
like and they have a bad break at the end
and they lose, it's not the end of the world.
But I think he wants to see, you know, the
Liam Cohen team start to look like a Liam con team.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
I remember guys, Week one of twenty twenty, they won
the football game and then lost to the next fifteen
in a row to in the regular season. Let's hope
that's not the case certainly this season. Big thing Number
two setting the tone that we're talking about the quarterback
Trevor Lawrence. It's year five in the NFL and he
needs to take a step.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
That'll be a really important for Trevor, especially in a
Week one where you're you don't know what you're gonna
get right. We have an idea, you can go off
the tape and the stats and all that. It gets
thrown out the window at times, especially in Week one,
So it'll be very important for him to be able
to live in that gray.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Man, This isn't.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Exactly what we were hunting up. How can we continue
to find a completion and take care of the football?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
All right? Another new offense shown for Trevor Lawrence just
third now in five seasons.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
Yeah it again.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I like his answer because as we listened to Liam
talk more and more about quarterbacking about Trevor, he talks
more about that time in the gray. It feels like
they believe that they can set up this offense to
where it can run well, to.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Where when there are clear reads.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
That they're gonna times where they can get play out
of the quarterback position no matter who's there. Trevor's task
is to continue developing in the offense and get to
that point where in the gray, Brian is when things
break down. In the gray is when good quarterbacks can
become great. It's when you pay elite guys. In the

(04:20):
gray is everything. And I think that's gonna be a
huge theme this year, how he responds when everything's not
set up perfectly.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
I don't know what to expect, but that's the storyline.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Well, we saw three series from him in the month
of August, and while he didn't show mastery, he showed
an understanding and a different how to say this, a
different level of play, right. I mean it looked to
me John, and we've talked about the New Orleans game,
there were those two third down throws on that initial
series where he climbed the ladder of the pocket and

(04:51):
instead of running, which is something he would do, man,
he just threaded the ball to the tight end on
both of them, Brenton strange. So there seems jp to
be a different level comprehension or mastery or whatever word
you choose when you talk about where Trevor Lawrence is
at this point, and then there's this and this is
not as easy to put a finger on. I talked
to him the week the Friday before the Dolphins came

(05:13):
and just asked him about his perspective. You know, he's
he's stood there and talked about, well, it's new, it's good,
you know, after Doug Peterson came in, and now after
Liam Cohen came in, and I asked him about the
opportunity for him to step into this role to be
the guy that Liam Cohen said he wants, and he
said that Liam has opened all the doors for him
to be the leader that this team says it wants.

(05:36):
Now it's up for him to go and take it.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
You got to go step through that threshold, though, and
then get this team going in the right direction. It'll
help when Travis Hunter's on the field. The Daily Travis
Hunter Update. This from James Gladstone. Though. Yeah, he's gonna
be on the practice field. He was on the practice
field last week, but it could be week to week
to determine how much he's used an offense and or defense.

Speaker 6 (06:00):
And also there's a competitive advantage to not knowing what
side of ball he's going to.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
Be deployed on.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
Fully, what if that's half, if that's a mixture, All
those sorts of things can vary from one week to
the next, and I think the fact that that exists
is certainly a hand that will keep close.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, we'll see what happens week to week Brian on
this one, but the matchup will come into play. But
again they did trade up to number two. You want
to see him on the field both ways. Well, it's
so interesting, you know.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
At one point last week I asked Jeff Loginman, you
know where do you think he should spend more of
his time, And then I asked Mark Dufner, the former
linebackers coach I know is going to be on Happy
Hour with you this week, what he thought, and they
were completely one hundred and eight degrees different. This kid
is so talented and he's got such a broad skills set,
elite ball skills that, at least I've been told, talk

(06:49):
about a competitive avantage, John. I mean, week to week,
they could put him offense seventy percent of the time,
defense thirty, flop it the next week, go fifty to
fifty one week. If he is all to stay on
the field, which is obviously going to be a challenge
at this level for him. It's not going to be
as easy as it was at Colorado for him to
play as many snaps. But he can stay healthy and
be a factor for them on either side of the ball.

(07:12):
Why do you have to narrow it down?

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Yeah, let it go.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
I think he's going to play as a starter whenever
they're in situations where a slot receiver can be on
the field on offense and then on defense.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
That's what I'm not sure about.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
I think he will be better initially on defense. May
not see it though, because where he's great on defense,
is anticipating the ball and going and making a play
on it. To me, I don't care how much Travis
Hunter does or doesn't play. I think the measure will
be impact plays in big moments, which has been a
problem for this team in recent years. If he makes

(07:50):
four or five plays this year a JP that tilt scores,
he played just those four or five playss as far
as I'm concerned, because it's about impact and this team
hasn't had big plays in big moments enough in recent years.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
If he's that, he's a success.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
And just one more point on him. You know, we
talked about Trevor Lawrence. Trevor has Brian Tom Jueter, who
is I think one of the best, if not the best,
player on this team. Now he's got Travis Hunter right
and a better offensive line. When you start putting the
pieces around Trevor like Hunter and you want to start
measuring Trevor's success, Hunter's going to play a big role

(08:29):
in that too.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
No doubt about that. Our big things are in. There's
plenty ahead. We'll return and dig into James Gladstone's press
conference after the final fifty three on the roster were
named This is jaggs af Welcome back to jaggs Am

is Wednesday, Week one, the Carolina Panthers in town to
face the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday one o'clock kickoff. The

(09:21):
game presented by publics where shopping is a pleasure. Well,
the fifty three man roster cut down last week and
then the day after James Gladstone, general manager, met with
the media. Yeah, a lot of turnover on the roster.
It happens a lot when there's a new general manager
in place, but a lot of new blood for the
GN to look at.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
It wasn't something that you intentionally set out on saying, hey,
we're going to turn over this percentage or this number
of the roster. It was an organic approach. And I
think when you have high demands for players and expectations
as standards, it can become easier to sift through who
who makes the most sense moving forward, and who makes
the most sense for being here. Certainly excited about the

(10:04):
group that we got in the moment, but can't say
that it was with any intent to get to a
certain number of percentage of roster turnover.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
John and Bryan back with us now, and Yeah, the
headlines out of that last week, of course, is that
the previous regimes draft picks, a lot of those guys
were turned out of here, and they're gonna try to
see what else they can do to build this team.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
A lot a couple of those guys have landed in
other places, and it's not always a case of they
can't play, it's just they don't fit the system or
the culture that we're here.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Well, it rosters turn over anyway in the NFL to
tune of about fifteen or sixteen players usually, So I
got twenty four. It made sense. I mean they wanted
to bring I think you knew in James Gladstone's first
press conference when he talked about how much rookie free

(10:53):
agents had played for the Rams. They're not scared to
have young players, you know. The running back situation probably
exemplifies it the best. Lecquent Allen and Beachelle Toton. I
expect those guys to have key roles. In another philosophy,

(11:14):
maybe one rookie running back would be in that situation.
These guys don't mind playing to Collis a free agents
make the fifty three at defensive end another example. They
are not going to be afraid to throw these young
guys and that contributed to the turnout.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
They have six defensive ends, six edge rushers right at
four of them are new now one of them, Smoot,
had been here before, but they weren't on the roster
in twenty twenty four, So that tells you what they
thought of that particular position group. And look at the
defensive line in general. They had Tyler Lacy and Jordan Jefferson,
two young players they were developing, and then they get
a shot at Colin Saunders and say we can't pass

(11:50):
this up. It's just the way that it works.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
One of the draft picks this year, Caleb Bransaw, is
unable to go unfortunately, a season ending injury for the
defensive back, and James Gladstone knew this was the right
course of action to put him on IR.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
Yeah, it's unfortunate. He had a non contact injury on
his foot that ultimately we put him in a boot
with the hope that it wouldn't result in surgery. Checked
after the boot came off and it was clear that
it was going to have to we were gonna have
to go in and so he ended up having the surgery.
Still had optimism that there was a chance towards the

(12:26):
back half of the year that he would be able
to return and do a designation for return. Unfortunately, it
ended up being that it was going to be too
close to the buzzer, so to speak, and it would
have been some version of trying to rush him back.
Looking at the long game, it makes the most sense
to make sure his recovery timeline isn't rushed and we
can go about it the right way for him. And yeah,

(12:49):
it's it's disappointing because he is somebody that we certainly
had a very vivid vision for and he was progressing
at an extremely high rate. But nonetheless, we got a
good group that is ready to to bring it to
life on the grass and play together playing tandem and
looking forward to seeing that here against Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
There were certainly some high hopes for Ransaw after early
in training camp, and then the injury happened, and John
it's now really a fully revamped the defensive back room,
safeties and at corner without Ransaw. There's a lot of
new faces out there on deep.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, they were ready for this because they brought Dewey back,
They brought Andrew Winger back and really like him in
that spot. I think realistically they hoped that at some
point this season Ransaw would sort of take that position
and show what they think he's gonna be, which they
really love this guy. They think he is a long

(13:43):
term type of guy who can start.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
When you draft a safety in the third round, is
what do you expect? They love him.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
They're gonna have to wait until next training camp now
for people to see why they love him. Well, I
don't think this affects him long term, but for the
short term, it's too bad.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Well, and listen, of all the position groups that needed
to get overhauled, this was the one. The safety position
was just so unreliable last year. The number of big
plays in the fourth quarter, you all remember them. So
you bring in Eric Murray, who is a veteran that
they have confidence in. You bring Dewey back, You lose
Ransaw and it hurts, but Antonio Johnson had a really
good training camp, and Rayon Lane, who is more of

(14:23):
a special team's guy. The draft pick from the Naval
Academy proved that he could play in.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
A pinch when you need him to. So you've got
an upgrade.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Overall, It's not exactly what you wanted it to be
because you don't have Canon Bransaw, who I think was
going to be the star back there, but you still
have improved the position and now you just have to
wait for him and hope that he recovers.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
What they love here is that they think Murray and
Winguard will have the communication in the back end at
a high level that can work for a year until
you get Ransom, who they do think is going to
be a star sort of going. But they think it
improves because I communication communication will.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
Be better now.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Of course, it's been a busy preseason for roster changes.
Three trades already from James Gladstone this preseason, and of
course the roster down to fifty three. It will never
end though that evolution continues throughout the year.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Good teams can be built throughout the course of an offseason, right.
I think the great teams continue to evolve throughout the
course of a season. So to say whether or not
we're at the spot where I think I thought we'd be,
I can't point to it right now. What I can
say is we won't stop, and stagnition is never going

(15:39):
to be something that you see from us. So I
look forward to still what lies in front of us
and know that Job's not even close to that.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
You know, he's going to be bold what he needs
to be. He's proven that already this season that, yeah,
game on. We'll see if this roster changes how much
week to week, but they'll always be out there trying
to churn it.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yeah, to be honest with I'm not sure where you'd
go and look exactly right now and say, well, that's
absolutely a weak spot. You know, they improve the offensive line,
they improve the defensive line. We just talked about the
secondary wide receiver. With the investment in Diami Brown and
Travis Hunter, the running backs, the two that they drafted
that you've talked so much about, Tuton and the quint Allen.
I suppose if there was a big play linebacker, you know,

(16:19):
somebody that they really wanted that could fit into camp's
defense perhaps or yeah, but at this point they're just looking.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
Well, they've done the addressing.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
I mean clearly, when you trade or acquire two defensive
tackles during training camp, they believe that was an area
that needed addressing. I don't think in the long run
you will see this sort of training camp trade activity
from James Gladstone. But they had to get into training

(16:50):
camp to see sort of what they've got, and once
they did, they made some moves that they think they
needed to make.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Ideally you wouldn't be making them, but when.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Your first making over a regime, you have to figure
out what there is and then I figure out where
you need to short term get yourself better so that
you can start developing in a long term.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
And then and then you just roll the ball out
and play. Yeah, see what happened at some point, And
that's what's gonna happen this Sunday at one o'clock when
the Carolina Panthers come to town to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
We'll return in a moment and we'll dig into the
AFC South. A lot of changes in the division this year.
Will break each team down when we return on Jags Am.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Shadrick in for Chatannie Stevens. It is Week one, Carolina
Panthers coming to town Sunday at one o'clock. Brian Si,
John Osier alongside, and we look now at the AFC South.
It'll be a little bit before the divisional games began with.
I mean, let's start with Brian, the Houston Texans and
the team that won the division of course last year,

(18:16):
but some question marks in the backfield.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Now, yeah, listen, I thought Joe Mixon was the guy
that really made it all go last year. He ran
for one thousand yards and had eleven rushing touchdowns, had
twelve touchdowns total six hundred yard games, including one against
the Jags, were averaged five yards at carry. He took
some of the heat off of CJ. Stroud. And the
reason that matters is Stroud still got sacked fifty two

(18:39):
times last year. But so they fired the offensive coordinator,
they overhauled the line. They've got Nico Collins, but Stefan
Diggs has gone. Antonio, I'm sorry, Tank Dell is gone.
There's a lot that's different in Houston this year. And
they were counting on Joe Mixon. He's got what they
call a non football injury, means it didn't happen on

(19:00):
the field, but it's a foot and ankle and he's
out at least the first month, which means the Jags
won't see him in Week three. I mean he is
six and twenty five pounds. He's a low that's gonna
hurt them.

Speaker 5 (19:13):
Yeah, it is gonna hurt him.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
It's become very vogue this offseason to say that the
AFC South is down and then it's a very gettable
division and the jeduwars weave they can win the division.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
To me, this team.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Is it is still the favorite because I think they're
a very physical team.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
I think their defense is very good.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
And I sort of trust them to know what they
are and want to play, which is a big deal.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Mixon hurts, but this is still the team that Jedwarys
have to go try to get well.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
They're gonna still try to run because they brought a
Nick Chubb. I don't know what he's got left after
the multiple knee injuries that he suffered with the Cleveland Browns,
but their ability to run the ball because it also
protects a defense, it's among the best in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
No, I'm totally with you.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
They're still the frontrunner in the AFC's house, even without
Joell Mixon. But I think this is that hole in
the dike, so to speak. You've got have to plug
it somehow. And I don't know Chubb has enough left
to be the same guy.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
And Stroud's a huge storyline. You thought he was as
sending as a rookie. I like him, but there were
things last year where he has to get back to
rookie Stroud in order for people not to think he's plattoning.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
I think he's gonna be fine, but he's a storyline,
all right.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Now, Let's go up to Indianapolis, John year old stomping
grounds and there are quarterback conversations. So we had for
the Colts Daniel Jones as the starter. Anthony Richardson, a
top five pick, is on the bench.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Yeah, and you know there's two sort of angles here.
One is that, boy, do we give up on quarterbacks fast.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
In the NFL? You've moved on from Richardson. I get
it they probably had to.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Move on from him because of how he has played,
in his style and all the things.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
They're sort of in the water.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Sort of an assumption out even with Daniel Jones, that's
going to be a disaster because of what happened in
New York in this day and age. Brian, we talked
about a little bit with Baker Mayfield last year and
guys second chance guys.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
The Colts were like eight to nine last year. There's
a roster there.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Don't necessarily think that because they moved to this that
they're easily gettable. Daniel Jones, this is his shot, and
it's been happening more and more that give up guy,
which he was in New York becomes rebound guys.

Speaker 5 (21:36):
So that's really intriguing for that franchise.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
It's huge because otherwise they have to go draft again
next year.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Right, Yeah, you're hitting reset again. Done Moore. Well, here's
what they've got going for them.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
They've got Jonathan Taylor, who is one of the best
backs in football, and a very good offensive line. They
just re upped the young offensive tackle Quit Nelson, still
an All Pro caliber guard. They're going to be able
to play the ground game, which is what changed Dykin
likes to do, and give Daniel Jones plenty of time,
plenty of opportunities for a play, actually pass.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
And get it down the field.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
They've got a new defensive coordinator who came in lou
from Cincinnati. That's kind of where the hole seems to be.
I think with Jonathan Taylor or Daniel Jones, they'll move
the ball and score points. The question is do they
have enough on defense.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
To me, no franchise and I lived it for ten
years up there. No franchise exemplifies importance of quarterback in
the NFL the way this franchise has for what the
last almost thirty years in es since you have to Payton,
you had elite followed by elite dumb Luck back to
back Manning, and really since Luck left, they have been

(22:45):
in that seven to nine wilderness of trying to find
the guy, still trying to find the guy. And they
showed right dipped at the right time to get Anthony Richardson. Well,
if you dip and the guy's not there, yea, sometimes
it's until you can find the rocket ship back to

(23:07):
the top.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
So they exemplify what this league is right now.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
I think it's interesting because Daniel Jones. People forget how
mobile a quarterback he is. He ran for over one
hundred yards here against this team a few years back.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
He's prototype for being able to be the bounce back
guy because he has the ability get with the right program.

Speaker 5 (23:23):
You moved back. He's interesting.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
All right, Let's go now to Music City, USA and
check on the Tennessee Titans. They had the number one
overall draft pick and selected Cam Ward out of the
University of Miami. He'll make his debut against the Denver Broncos.
Cam Ward's path is certainly interesting, from incarnate Word to
the PAC twelve to all of a sudden showing up

(23:47):
in Miami and leading them to a ten win season
in the best offensive season in Miami Hurricanes history. This
is not the Miami Hurricanes anymore. This is the National
Football League. This is assaulting Broncos defense that I think
you want a hot take, Yeah, here's a hot take.
Here's a lock. The Broncos will shut down cam warden

(24:08):
the Titans in Week one.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
Well, you'll think, I mean if I'm walking anything, but.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Sorry, I forgot. It's not a happy hour Monday.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
We don't walk on here here The Titans are as
you know, it seems like every year there's two or
three franchises draft early, throw the guy in and sort
of see where it goes. We were there what in
twenty one? You know, he's the only storyline that matters
in Tennessee. This year, throwing him in against the Broncos

(24:41):
is something the Titans most franchise, most franchised.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
I feel like they have to do that now.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Usually I think there's three or four weeks where no
matter who you are, you're just lost.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
So you would anticipate him being lost. Although I think
he's gonna be a good player. Yeah, I do too.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
It's year two of their transition, right, I mean they
were the last Caveman football team. They clubbed you with
Derrick Henry over and over and over, and that allowed
whoever was playing quarterback to have a chance to breathe
and throw the ball downfield. Now they're going to a
modern offensive system that's quarterback centric, and they're now in
the first year with cam Ward giving him his opportunity,

(25:17):
and they've got to build a team around him. I
keep hearing that they like their offensive line, right. They
spent a lot of money on the left tackle they
brought in from Pittsburgh. They drafted the kid from Alabama
who's the right tackle. So if they got the offensive
line right, they might be something to contend with this year.
I mean, not contending for the division titles, but they
might give you everything that got on a given Sunday afternoon.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
And it's interesting what teams are doing, but the Bears
did it last year a little bit. When they do
after Caleb Williams. Sometimes that first overall pick is a quarterback,
its first year head coach. Everything's sort of starting with
the Titans. It's not that it's second year head coach
with rookie quarterback. What that does to the clocks as
you move on, how you're judged is interesting because you

(25:57):
know the head coach will be judged based on two
years quarter back one.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
Just an interesting dynamic going on around the lead.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
We don't forget they changed generalman too, so I mean
they've changed a lot there, not just the quarterback. That's
an interesting story to see as they kind of figure
out who they are.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Locket Broncos over the Typans. How about that confidence Jaguars
sweep of them as well. We'll come back in a moment.
Jaguars have named their captains for twenty twenty five. Will
break it down after this on jags Am. Jags fans

(26:40):

for fans. Welcome back, jags Am. Oh yeah, and this
game this Sunday is presented by publics. We're shopping is
a pleasure. Craving a chick and tender sub right about

(27:01):
now on jags Am, Glad you're with us. J P.
Shadwick in for Kai stevens our final moments here with
the Brian Sexton and John Ozer. The Jaguars have announced
their captains for twenty twenty five, first year under head
coach Liam Cohen, and here are the results. Trevor Lawrence,
Robert Hainsey on offense for Yer Luikin, Josh Hainz Allen

(27:22):
on defense, Jordan Lewis as well, and Logan Cook special
teams the punter. There you have a gentleman. The captain.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Lewis is the story to me among the captains, not
that he doesn't belong, but that he clearly does. He
just got here in free agency, and it wasn't like
he was this high profile superstar corner. He was really
good in Dallas, but here he's been a superstar through
the course of August. He's been a guy who's made
play after play after play and taken a secondary John

(27:50):
last year finished the season limping into January right and
turned their perspective around. They are a much more confident
bunch than they may have a right to deserve to
be at this point.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Well, and he's important because Eric Murray and Wingard or
veteran guys at safety at corner. It's good for them
to have Lewis bringing Hunter, even Jarion Jones along a
little bit.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
It's a young room. You need those two guys to
be good. I'll talk about Hainsey and Lewis. Over a
ten year period.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
You don't have a lot of UFAs who come in
and be captains except when you're doing a regime change.

Speaker 5 (28:34):
So this felt very logical to me.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
You have a team that's installing a new culture when
you go a new direction.

Speaker 5 (28:41):
The offensive line.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Clearly needs that, the secondary clearly needed that. You have
two captains, two veteran guys as leaders. Makes sense to
have what thirty three percent of your captains as new
when you were going in a new direction. So those
two guys deserve it, and good for the six captains.
It's a big deal to players when they're a captain,

(29:02):
or it should be.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
The game week is here. That means John, you and
I will be back doing this again this afternoon with
Huddle Up with Bucky Brooks four o'clock today.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
Whether we went to or.

Speaker 1 (29:12):

hopefully tie back in Thursday morning for jags Am. Thanks

Brian and John, I'm JP Shadwick and it's jags Am.
