Speaker 1 (00:00):
How you doing. What's it been like these last couple
of days, finding your new home.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
It's great.
Speaker 3 (00:04):
It's a crazy week, but I'm happy to be here.
I'm happy to call Jacksonville home. Be a Jaguar, get
to work, see the facility, meet the staff. You know,
it's been great, grateful.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Did you know much about Liam Collen or his system anything?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
And I've heard about him, I've I've seen his success,
I've seen the way his offensive run. I'm just happy
to be here with him, talk with him, meet him
in person, and go win some football games.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
What is it that sold you on coming to Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I think there's a lot of new potential and opportunities here,
you know. I think looking at the roster, looking at
the coaches, hearing what they're trying to do here, that's
something I wanted to be a part of the change,
you know, and I hope I could do my part.
I want to do my part. I want to win
football games and get that done.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
What do you feel like you bring to the table here.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
I mean, obviously we know you spend talking at all
five positions on.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
The offensive line, So what do you feel like you
can contribute.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
To jackson Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Some of that just wants to play and win.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I wanna uh, I wanna understand the technique better. I
wanna understand uh coaches ideas of UH technique, assignment's fundamentals,
and and master that so I could show UH. So
I used to be a good leader in the room,
you know, be a good leader to the guys. UH
bring winning football here, and I just like I said,
I wanna compete. I wanna help a team win whatever
(01:24):
fashion that looks like.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Do you view yourself as a guard and a right guard?
Speaker 7 (01:28):
Do you feel more most comfortable here.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Or yeah, I'm comforble anywhere. I think I believe they
brought me in here to play guard. But I just wanna.
I wanna win and contribute.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
So how much pride do you maybe take in the
versatility of your game just being able to play all five?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
It's not it's not very confident.
Speaker 8 (01:41):
Yeah, uh, a lot of pride.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I I take pride in understanding the game and like
understanding the technique. But when I go out there, I'm
just a football player, and I'm an offensive lineman, whether
at center, guard or tackle.
Speaker 6 (01:55):
I just that's what I.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Wanna do Have you talked to any of new teamments yet?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Every downstairs a good guy, excited to meet him, excited
to work with him. But right now just a staff
and then new people coming into at About technique?
Speaker 9 (02:08):
Is there something uh dramatically different that you're gonna have
to learn in terms of technique here?
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Uh, I don't know. I we haven't started talking technique yet,
but I'm sure. I mean playbook wise, I not have
to learn uh calls, tendency, stuff like that. Uh, but
that's all a part of it. I enjoy that stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
You talked a lot about being more physical upfront. Is
that something you bring?
Speaker 9 (02:30):
Yeah, you said, I mean, obviously you come from a
program that's knows a lot about winning.
Speaker 7 (02:38):
What makes you think that winning's gonna happen here? Based
on your.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Conversations, the belief, the culture, everybody is on the same mindset,
everybody's sending the same message.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
And just the energy I know it's a whole new staff.
The energy that uh, everybody's giving off is excited, ready
to go. It doesn't feel like a four and thirteen
team when I come in here. Uh, they seem ready
to go, and I'm ready to go.
Speaker 9 (03:03):
Youth I mean it's pretty young staff, young, GM young everything.
Speaker 7 (03:07):
Is there something about that that like is it exciting
or big reading?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Maybe that brings the energy. But then maybe some of
the old guys up there don't like that either, you know,
they could bring the energy to.
Speaker 8 (03:18):
Maybe maybe that's it.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
You mentioned a little bit about leaving beforehand.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
What hast have been like getting the note since you
got here?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Great guy, Like I said, it brings the energy, a
great football mind, seems to be a great leader. I'm
excited to be part of his team.
Speaker 10 (03:33):
All right, appreciate Robert Hansey, nice to meet you all.
Thank you guys for coming out.
Speaker 7 (03:41):
Uh Nick Mullins was coming in.
Speaker 10 (03:44):
I wish like that guy doesn't look as good as
just this morning.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
What's it like in the stay with William and have
that familiarity with what he looks for.
Speaker 8 (03:57):
It's super exciting.
Speaker 10 (03:58):
I really enjoyed working with Liam last year. I'm really
looking forward to working with him again this year. The
way he kind of uses his offense to his players
strengths is something that I think that he's going to
do a great job with here with the group we
have in the group we're building, so I'm very excited
to be here, very excited to work with him, get
to know everyone else. I've already been a ton of
(04:19):
people today and it's been a lot of fun. So
we'll see kind of how things grow. But I'm looking
forward to getting to meet everyone and get to work
in a couple of weeks here.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
You hopefully you have this chance. When you saw that
bitch Morris was.
Speaker 11 (04:30):
Retiring, yeah I was.
Speaker 10 (04:32):
I was hopeful to work with you know, Liam again,
but as free agency was coming up, I wasn't sure
I was going to. Look, I've never done it before,
it's my first time. So sometimes I think things fall
in the right place, and I think things happened for
a reason. So I think I'm supposed to be here,
and I have an opportunity to help this team, help
this organization, which is always going to be my number
one goal is to help this team win. So that's
(04:53):
exciting for me to have a chance to do that
with someone with some familiar faces and some new faces
as well.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
What's it like being able to say Florida just not
having to move too much?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I guess yeah.
Speaker 10 (05:02):
I mean I just moved to Arizona, so super super easy.
I do like my off season stuff there. So we're
in the middle of that. But I mean, like me
and my fiance mar like we love Florida, we're excited
to be back and forth, We're excited to be here.
Like there's so much opportunity. It's a new it's a
new deal for us, and anytime that comes up, it's
just looking the ways you can make the most of
it in every situation.
Speaker 9 (05:23):
So going from starter to back up back to starter,
is that how much does that you carry?
Speaker 7 (05:30):
Or like motivation you madea you didn't hear, you know,
make the most of it the second time.
Speaker 10 (05:38):
I mean, I'm always motivated to make the mostivated. I'm
always motivated to help the team win in any way
I can. I'm always motivated to be the best player
I can be. None of that's gonna change. None of
that changed last year, none of it's gonna change this year. Ideally,
it's never gonna change because those are the things that
are important to me. So I think being myself, being
who I am, is gonna help this team. Uh So
(05:58):
every day, just try to be the best myself, Try
to lead others, try to bring others along, try to
be led by those who can teach and who I
can follow. Those are the things that are gonna make
us great men and great players and the great organization together.
Those are the things that I want to really really
hang my hat on.
Speaker 7 (06:15):
Outsider, Are you work with Trevor and start pulling that relationship.
Speaker 10 (06:19):
He seems like an awesome dude. I just met him
for the first time. We talked for a little bit.
It's cool, I think for both of us. Because I've
been in the system a year. I think that'll be
helpful to him. He's got a ton of knowledge and
he's a great player, so that'll be helpful to me.
It's very exciting to get to work with another new quarterback.
He seems like an awesome dude, like an awesome family guy.
So it's gonna be a lot of fun getting to
(06:40):
work together in a couple of weeks throughout offseason, mini camp, camp,
all that stuff. I think we're really going to be
able to grow and bond as a team as a whole,
in a unit, in the offensive line room and offense
defense as a group.
Speaker 8 (06:51):
I think it's going to be very very good.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Look it out to you.
Speaker 7 (06:54):
Working with Liam last year, his approach.
Speaker 8 (06:59):
Strength, Yeah, I kind of allude to it earlier.
Speaker 10 (07:02):
I think one thing he does really well is he
focuses on our strengths as players. Uh, he kind of
has a he knows what he wants, but if we're
doing something better, he's not gonna try to fit the
square peg into a round hole.
Speaker 8 (07:13):
He's gonna he's gonna lean on what we do. Last year.
Speaker 10 (07:16):
You know, in Tampa, we didn't expect to run as
much of gap scheme as we ran. We came out
and like we were running it really well. So we
leaned on that and we kept running it, and we
kept running it well, and that became one of our
calling cards. Even though when he got there around this
time last year, that was not that said, that probably
wasn't his original plan, but you can see how he
adapted to it and used those strengths that we showed
(07:36):
on film as a team and made it our whole strength,
made it our identity.
Speaker 12 (07:42):
Is that adaptability part of the reason why you think
he's the guy that can help get things on the
right track here.
Speaker 7 (07:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (07:47):
I think that's a huge characteristic for a football coach
to have. You want to be able to listen to
your players and do it put them in the best
position to win. I think that's probably that would be
what a lot of coaches will tell you, as their
main job is to put your play.
Speaker 8 (08:00):
He was in the best position to win. I think
he does a great job.
Speaker 10 (08:02):
Of that, and I'm excited to see, like what nuances
he has to our offense because I loved it last year,
loved being a part of it, Excited to play more
in it because I think it, like I said, does
fit us well. He'll make it fit the players because
that's just how he does it. So I think it'll
work really well.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Robert, did you know Patrick McCarry at all? Have you
ever bumped into him, met him? Or is that brand
new relationship.
Speaker 8 (08:24):
That's a new relationship. He was.
Speaker 10 (08:26):
He's played with a couple of guys I know pretty
well in college and when he was in Baltimore, So
I'm looking forward to getting to know him, getting to
beat them. By all accounts, he seems like an awesome dude,
and the people I know said that I'm gonna love him,
so I trust those guys' opinions too.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Were going to stress the imbordance of you guys being
physically dominant up front and running the football just from
what you've seen from him from last year.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
How does he improve that.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Aspect of the game, just just being able to be
physically dominant running the football.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
How does he stress that? How do you guys feel
about it?
Speaker 11 (08:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (08:56):
I think you know, again, like using our stranks to
the team's advantage. That's what That's what's important to him,
and that's why. That's how you become good run the football,
not by trying to make your players do things they're
not gonna at. You looked at like look at Tampa,
how they how they improved last year. But it was
you know, we all bought into the scheme. We bought
(09:17):
into them as coaches, and that that's that goes a
long way too. It was easy to buy into because
of the way it's presented, because it's it's simple enough
to understand, but complex enough to confuse others. And it's
exciting to be able to take that next step in
the same system. Some guys get new systems every year.
Some guys stay in the same system or whole career,
even though it's rare. I've had a few now, but
(09:37):
I'm excited to have another consecutive one and grow in it.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Were there other teams that you were kind of weighing
on where to side with.
Speaker 11 (09:46):
A little bit.
Speaker 8 (09:47):
But I'm here now, and I'm excited to be here.
This is what this is the most.
Speaker 10 (09:51):
This is what's the important because, uh, the opportunity I
think we have here as a group, the opportunity I
have as a player to get to know people, to
grow as an organization, to improve all those things that
we care about as football players, as professionals like this,
this is a great place to do it with the
right people in place, and I'm excited to be even
just a small part of that.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
What's good as far.
Speaker 10 (10:13):
As here just that I know that I've been here before,
we did our joint practice here. They have a great team,
they have a great roster. I honestly, Liam had a
lot to do with it because I know him and
I trust him. I believe in him deeply that he's
going to do everything he can to make this organization
as best as it can be.
Speaker 8 (10:32):
So obviously that's the main factor.
Speaker 10 (10:34):
I've walked around for like three hours today, I met
twenty people and they've all been unbelievable. So like he
did a great job of whoever was here that he
kept and whoever is new. I don't know who's who yet,
but everyone I met has been awesome. And you know,
as far as building a team, an organization and a culture,
like that's where it starts. So again, like super happy
to be a part of it. Glad they believe in
(10:54):
me and want to give me this opportunity and I
intend to not let them down.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Team makes from those doort practices.
Speaker 10 (11:03):
Was just that it was hot, but uh no, it's
like I know we have a strong we have a
super strong group, and that I'm looking forward to getting
to know them personally as well as players, because you know,
the joint practice, you're still camp mode. You're going on
your own stuff. You're in the preseason so playing like
didn't play versus them last regular season. But as far
(11:25):
as on a personal level, it'll be really fun to
get to know new guys and make new friends and
grow grow together. Like I said, and as football players,
like we have a great roster. I think they did
a great job with who they brought in. Like it's
it's exciting. I saw it kind of as the process
was going, it was like, wow, they get some we
got some dudes, and it's gonna be a fun, a
fun group to be around. When we can buy in
to the culture, to the program, to what's important, that's
(11:47):
it's gonna be great in.
Speaker 9 (11:50):
Thirty five your thirty six starts player snap is durability
and availability with.
Speaker 7 (11:55):
One of your strengths.
Speaker 10 (11:57):
Yeah, I think that's a Yeah, I'd call that like
a that's a standard because the things you can control,
you have to control them. The things are out of
your control are gonna happen and then you have to
respond to them. But as far as like trying to
stay healthy, doing all the little things you can do, like.
Speaker 8 (12:12):
Those are just things you have to do as a professional.
Try not to They don't take that stuff lightly.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
So yeah, what was it like just the process of
you know, what's the legal campering window.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Opens and what was it like?
Speaker 9 (12:30):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (12:30):
It was it was actually the smoothest free agency that
I I I've been through so last few years it's
been you know, like some days weeks that I you know,
we're you know, going back and forth with teams.
Speaker 6 (12:41):
So I think I feel like this is the smoothest
free agency I've I've been through.
Speaker 12 (12:47):
What's coming to Jackson We were talking about, you know,
just building the culture you know, and being a cornerstone
of that that that rebuilding. I've always wanted to be
a guy to you know, be known for that, you know,
be known for a culture and be known to you know,
change culture. So I I I I love uh uh
(13:07):
a good competition and I love a good challenge. So
I feel like this was ah the perfect place for
for me to go out there and show that I
belong in the NFL and belonged and to be as one,
you know, known as one of the guys that you know,
changed the culture.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
At what at what point did you know if you
were calling ties with dallon space.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
It's funny every every every off season, I think I am.
Speaker 12 (13:31):
But uh but uh uh this time, w it just
felt a little different because you know, I had the
season I had last year, and people r start to
recognize the type of player I was, so you know,
it couldn't be hidden anymore. Uh, and you couldn't give
me you know, just the the the the team friendly
deals anymore. So uh that's when I recognized when I
had the year and I I felt the buzz. I
(13:52):
knew that, you know, maybe it might be my time
to you.
Speaker 6 (13:54):
Know, separate what are you impressions of his energy is
in his unmatched man.
Speaker 12 (14:00):
He was excited to meet me, and we talked about
you know, just changing the culture and me being you know,
in the forefront of that, and that that makes me
very excited. So I'm just excited to be a part
of something like that and excited to be around like
the mighted people that want to go out there and
and compete and and and change the culture and change
the way people see, you know, the the Jaguars nationwide.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
How do you would.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
You would contribute to that or as a leader or
or means as a culture center.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
Uh, just you know, just being a pl football player.
Speaker 12 (14:29):
I am just going out there competing, you know, to
my best ability of going out there trying to dominate.
And you know I am a bit of a trash
talker out there, so you know, just giving you know,
my opponent and you know, a rough day, so just
you know, hopefully that you know that's contagious among the
team and and and and just being who I am
as a football player.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
A lot is that where you're most comfortable are.
Speaker 12 (14:51):
I actually started my rookie year, I started outside. I
started playing you know, uh, corner outside. So Nichol was
an adjustment for me, so I never I really didn't
play nickel until I got into the NFL, so.
Speaker 6 (15:02):
I found the niche here.
Speaker 12 (15:04):
But I I'm comfortable playing anything, honestly, safety, corner, nickel,
d line linebacker.
Speaker 6 (15:10):
You know, I played a few you know, linebacker snaps
and that list.
Speaker 12 (15:14):
But uh yeah, I'm I'm I'm comfortable doing anything the
team needs.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
And you going out going out there and competing.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
What what what makes a good thing for uh, you.
Speaker 12 (15:23):
Know, uh high IQ. Understanding what the offenses wanna do. Uh,
Understanding what the coordinators wanna do, you know, in the
run game and in the past game, and being able
to go out there and run with guys, so being
able to understand you know, how they how they wanna
affect us in.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
The past and run game.
Speaker 12 (15:38):
It's it's basically you know, uh uh a more you know,
agile linebacker, you know what I'm saying. So, uh just
understanding those things and and and and being smart and
and and finding ways to go out there and make plays. Yeah,
that's just That's what I feel like a Nicholas You're
living the.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Better last year because you sort of take that.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Jump and that befos.
Speaker 12 (15:58):
Honestly, it was just I knew that coach Zimmer put
an emphasis on a nickel spot, so he he he
put me in positions to go out there and make
more plays. I know, we were a match defense. We
were a match defense for the last you know, four
or five years. But he put me in positions to
go out there and blitz and and different things like
that to you know, you know, really just showcase that
(16:19):
I can do more than just just that. So he
put me in position to go out there and make
plays more so than I've been in you know, late
as of you know, those other years. And yeah, it
was it was definitely a good fit for me. Yeah,
I mean I trained like a maniac. I trained like
I just got out of the combine man. So I
know that's the basis of everything that I do. So
(16:40):
just if I feel like you can get better in
this league as you as you become older, and I
feel like I'm definitely still in my prime. I feel
like I've you know, overcome an injury and I played
really well after that. So you know, just taking care
of my body, eating the right things and and training
and and and keeping the main thing the main thing.
That's that's what I wanna do. So I want to
(17:01):
be a football player, you know, as long as I can.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Run so m and you can tell us about uh chuma.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
Uh yeah, Man, he comes to work. Uh, he comes
to work.
Speaker 12 (17:11):
He does his job, man, with the utmost excu the
utmost confidence, and he understands that any situation that he's
put in, you know, either he's he's being a rotational
piece or a starter. He comes in and he's he's
he's ready to lock in and you know, be an
integral part of that officeive line. So he's like a
spark plug man. He goes out there and do his
job at an extremely high level.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Seems like you brought a lot of your family here today.
Just what do they mean to you? What does this
transition mean to your family?
Speaker 6 (17:39):
I mean the they mean everything for me.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (17:41):
They my wife when I was going through my injury
in twenty twenty two, My Liz Frankauh. She's the one
that had to put up with me cause I knew
I was a I was a little mean back then,
but she she's definitely the the main reason that I
I came back to you know, full form and uh,
you know, just making sure that the house is right
and you know, the kids are right, and you know,
keeping me right mentally. I kind of joke with her,
(18:04):
but I think I might put it on payroll as
my pr r uh cause uh yeah, she gets me right,
you know, cause I do kind of fly off the
hinge on on ig and Twitter stuff like that. But uh,
she helps me out a lot. But yeah, she's she's
everything to me and my kids are.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
You know.
Speaker 12 (18:18):
I just want to see my kids, you know, do well.
And I want their their their to know their their
their dad you know, just goes out there and goes
to work every day. And that's what I want. That's
what my legacy I w for my That's what I
want for my legacy to to show my kids that
that daddy went to work regardless of the situation.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
All young defensive backs on this team, how was important
is it to you just just become one of.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
The leaders about whatever.
Speaker 6 (18:39):
I I talked to Jarian a lot.
Speaker 12 (18:41):
Uh we trained together in Dallas, and he he told
me even before I signed, before he knew I was
gonna be his teammate, he was like, I don't have
a vet, you know, I haven't had vets. So I
was just and then when I signed, he was just like, Man,
I I'm I'm willing to do whatever to be successful.
Speaker 6 (18:55):
Man go out there and and and they have my
best year.
Speaker 12 (18:58):
So he's ready there, he's hungry, he's accepting, you know,
my you know, uh, I felt whatever you know, type
of toolitch that I I had for in me.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
He accepts it. He's listening.
Speaker 12 (19:08):
You can tell that he's he's actively listening and he
he's hungry for it. So I'm I'm pretty sure like
like him. Uh, the the the rest of the guys
are just like that. And you know, I'm just I'm
excited to you know, just give any lot any knowledge
that I can for those guys to be better football
players and better men. So that's that's a role I'm
I'm I'm fully capable of and I'm I'm I'm.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
Ready to accept that. I that that res r responsibility.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Or changing culture.
Speaker 12 (19:33):
You're what sold you that this coaching staff, this group
was the right one to kind of flips.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Things here in Jacksonville.
Speaker 12 (19:38):
Uh you can tell you know the way that they
they they did things in the in the off season
with uh, what they focused on so I knew that
I was one of their first signings, and I knew
that they they wanted to change the culture. So I
knew that that that was the opportunity for me to
go out there and show people that you know, in
the NFL, that I'm a serious football player and and
show the the the Jaguars that you got the right guy.
(20:00):
So it was a challenge for me, and I knew that,
you know, we had the right people in the head
and they're signing the right people to go out there
and make change. So that's what I'm excited about, go
out there and make change because I'm I'm real familiar
with change in Dallas. It's been a few regime changes
while I was there, but and it was always a
challenge of you know, can this guy you know, fit
(20:22):
this game or with that scheme. So it's it's a
new challenge, and I want to show people that I
can do whatever, and I can be a really good
football player in any situation.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Than you appreciate.
Speaker 13 (20:33):
I was very excited to stay with Grant.
Speaker 14 (20:35):
We've worked together for the past three years and it's
been really cool to watch his development from starting out
as just like the assistant of the head coach, just
slow a year by year, just more and more football
game planning, and uh, I'm very excited to be here
and very excited to work with Grant and the rest of.
Speaker 13 (20:50):
The staff.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Offensive actlib.
Speaker 14 (20:54):
Yeah, he's super detailed. Any question, you're gonna get every
single detail to that answer. Great explanations, very clear, very
great communicator. He's a hungry young coach. I respect his
background so much, just starting out as a low level
assistant at Baylor and uh, you know, working his way
up and he's gotten everything that he's earned so far,
(21:14):
and and his skills creating matchups, getting guys open. He
did a great job of helping in Minnesota and can't
wait to see it come to fruition here in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
What stood out about Jackson Well, why why pick here?
Speaker 11 (21:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 14 (21:30):
I think just all the opportunity, fresh start, you know,
to help build the culture. It was great talking to
coach Cohen today, just the energy that he brings, and
obviously my relationship with Grant being familiar with the system.
I feel like we all come from some sort of
umbrella of the West Coast offense. Every team that runs
(21:51):
it has little nuances and differences but we're all gonna
be speaking the same language.
Speaker 13 (21:57):
So there was just so much opportunity.
Speaker 14 (22:00):
All the factors made sense, and I'm glad it worked
out the way that it did and fired up to
be part of Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
What was exciting about the idea of working with Trevor?
Speaker 14 (22:09):
Yeah, I mean I I was telling him earlier actually
when I met him. I've had some some of my
best friends are actually the receivers coach at Clemson, and
uh so I've actually followed Clemson for like a long time,
so I got to watch him at Clemson.
Speaker 13 (22:25):
And he's a great player.
Speaker 14 (22:26):
He's done a lot of really successful things. He's got
every every tool in the bag that you need to
be successful. So I told him, like, I'm I'm here
to help you as much as as much as you like.
I like to think that my familiarity with the system
and the concepts that we're gonna run and the way
to operate. I feel like that's gonna be beneficial for
Trevor in the whole room.
Speaker 13 (22:46):
And uh, I can't wait to get started.
Speaker 9 (22:49):
Grants approach help young quarterbacks or or developing quarterbacks as
you have.
Speaker 14 (22:56):
Yeah, I think it just starts with like the foundation
when we get here for day one Phase one, I
assume that the installs are just gonna be from the
ground up.
Speaker 13 (23:08):
Sorry, that's mine one year old crying out there.
Speaker 14 (23:10):
Sorry about that, but yeah, man, you start day one,
Day one phase one from the ground up. It's formations,
it's snap count, it's emotions, and then you start doing
day one concepts and all, and all of a sudden
you look up and you have an install, and you
have a you know plays and at that point you're
able to run plays. And so like Grant's detailed philosophy
(23:32):
of just clear communication, explaining everything from a foundational level
and building it all the way up will be tremendous
for the whole room and along with Coach Waldron and
Coach Cohen and UH coach Whipple as well, like the
entire staff. Like I said, it's gonna be a great
foundation and be able to hear that as a younger player,
(23:53):
If you were a younger player, it'd be very beneficial
just learning the system, how it operates, what makes it go,
what makes it good, Why are these playpass concepts you
know so beneficial to the run game and how it
all marries together and there's so much that goes into it,
and they do a great job of teaching it. Is
(24:13):
it when you first pick it up by going to
be Trevor's first year in it right for a first
year seeing it, how difficult is it to get right?
I think the biggest things is, I'm sure there's other
offenses that are like this. I'm sure out there somewhere,
but just the fact of you can put anywhere or
any player at any spot on the field and do
(24:37):
whatever you want. I mean, really, it's a giant puzzle.
You got to put all the pieces in the right
puzzle to create the concepts to put the defense out
of disadvantage. So it takes a lot of hard work.
That's anything in life, you know, Like, it's a lot
of hard work. Puts a lot on the quarterback. But
previously it's been a lot of fun to play in.
And I know once Trevor gets that grasp, he'll fill
(24:59):
the same way about it, very.
Speaker 7 (25:03):
Similar age year.
Speaker 9 (25:04):
I think, what what's that like to have somebody like
so close to be you know, your.
Speaker 13 (25:10):
Your coach, right, Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
Speaker 14 (25:13):
I mean me and Grant and everybody else part of
that offensive coaching staff loves football. Like to be in
this business, you have to love football. So the commonality
of just loving football and it's it's worked, it's working
play basically, you know, he worked hard. You appreciate the
conversations you get to have about football, about life, about
(25:35):
all sorts of different things. You know, a couple of
fun jokes and stories along the way, and that's what
made that's what makes football so great is you know,
whether you're older or younger, you know, like just guys
who love football trying their best to achieve common goal.
Speaker 13 (25:50):
Off the field, it's still coach the player dynamic. Don't
get it twisted. Good cool. You guys appreciate it. Yeahs
appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
What was it like the process of taking jackson.
Speaker 15 (26:06):
Home free agency is always a whirlwind, and you know,
you never just never know what's gonna happen. So luckily
Jacksonville stepped up and we got a deal done. And
here I am and I'm excited to be here.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
What did you know or or maybe what have you
learned about the defense and coach and seven it sort
of why.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
You fit with the defense.
Speaker 11 (26:24):
It's kind of a mix of trees.
Speaker 15 (26:26):
So I know some of them, you know, have a
package background, and we kind of mirror defense from you know,
where I was at in Houston, so kind of the
terminology is similar, little subtle differences here and there, but
s schematically, it's pretty much the same from where I
came from.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
What do you feel like like you break to this defense?
What what can you add?
Speaker 9 (26:46):
Uh?
Speaker 15 (26:46):
I think just multiplicity At this point, I did a
lot of stuff of you know, playing down, playing high,
playing in the slot, so.
Speaker 11 (26:55):
I had a variety.
Speaker 15 (26:57):
Of places that I played on the field, and so
that's I think that's what I bring.
Speaker 11 (27:00):
To the to the table.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
What's your first impression?
Speaker 15 (27:03):
My first impressions, I haven't had too many, so they're
very limited. But I'm sure I'll have a uh a
bigger impression here later on.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Were you happy that you could stay in the division
and have that familiarity.
Speaker 15 (27:15):
No, for sure, it's always nicest stay within the division
that you've been playing in the last few years. You know,
five years I was in Houston and the familiarity between everybody,
it's uh, definitely nicest still be in the a FC South.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
What was the dealing from the other side of this team.
Speaker 11 (27:33):
In terms of what what do you wanna know specifically, yah, h.
Speaker 15 (27:36):
Wh when you were getting ready for them as a
Texan how your new team will Yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:40):
What what did you view the program for.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
What it was at the time as.
Speaker 15 (27:45):
A divisional divisional opponent? We know they gonna bring it,
and uh, we gotta be on top of our game,
and whoever comes out and does the right thing every play,
that's who wins. So that's how we viewed it, and
that's how we view every game when I was there.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
So playing these guys for for years or however long,
you know, did you get time to learn any of
the new players or or any other players from the Draguars,
become friends with.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Any of them?
Speaker 11 (28:08):
Or I wouldn't say friends.
Speaker 15 (28:10):
I mean you look at the scouting report every time
you play, so it's like, yeah, I've seen his face before,
so uh that's kind of where the familiarity it is.
Speaker 11 (28:18):
But other than that, not really.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Thoughts about Trevor from playing on the other sideline.
Speaker 15 (28:24):
Uh, real precise quarterback, go through his processes and uh
he can he got a big arm, live arm, he
can get the ball down the field and stuff like that.
So uh, real intelligent guy from you know, scouting him
on the other side.
Speaker 7 (28:37):
You switched teams a few times.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
What's the biggest challenge when he kept getting do in
your organization?
Speaker 15 (28:43):
Uh, I think just getting acclimated seeing all these new faces,
like seeing new media people doing stuff like that, like
I'm bad at names, like I gotta do a better
job of remembering names, and you know, and just being
comfortable with where you live at and and things of
that nature. So I think that's always a hard part.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
There's what your defensive back.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
From this team is stuck into leadership role?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Important for you?
Speaker 11 (29:06):
Uh, It's definitely important.
Speaker 15 (29:08):
In the previous DP backfield I was in, I had
a lot of young guys there too, and hopefully we
can jail together and just work together. And you know,
they can lean on me whenever they can, cause you know,
I've been in the league for it's next year, it'll
be my tenth year, so you know, I'm an open book.
Speaker 7 (29:26):
Ye alright, thank.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
You, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Thank What was the forty eight hours like for you?
Did you have an idea where you might be headed
and why should you pick the Jaguars?
Speaker 11 (29:39):
Uh?
Speaker 16 (29:39):
So, man, I was just working out and uh, just
back at home. I let my agent, Uh kind of
hindle everything because you know, I j it's a new
process for me. So UH, my agent gave me a call,
you know, Jacksonville, tell me about the situation. I think
it's a wonderful situation that's going on right now. And uh,
you know, I take it here.
Speaker 12 (29:58):
Do you know anything about the coach many of the
coaches or players here before him.
Speaker 16 (30:03):
Uh Brian Uh Brian Thomas Uh kind of new Trevor
a little bit already, not not necessarily like knowing, but
I knew where where it came from. Uh Clemson. Uh
played against him one year, so you know, I I
kind of like him what he did at Clemson, So
I expect big things.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
What is it about this team that makes it seem
like it's a wonderful tr uh transition?
Speaker 16 (30:23):
Oh man, it's it's it's a change that's going on
right now. You know, there's coaching changes and stuff like that,
and that's pretty much where I just came from. It
was a whole like culture change, so and I c
I could see it, see it being here and then
making big things happen at the same time. So you know,
any little change k for a progress and for what
we want here at this organization for what?
Speaker 4 (30:43):
How?
Speaker 16 (30:43):
How they want things at this organization. Everybody wants to win,
and I feel like we can make things happen.
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Transition Is this you Worner Orner Raleigh?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
No?
Speaker 7 (30:53):
How mey for Orneration Charlotte No, no what?
Speaker 16 (30:59):
So it's time breaking down place out. I was born
in Newport News, Virginia.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
Okay.
Speaker 16 (31:06):
Uh Uh I moved to Charlotte when I was around
about five years old. Uh So I stayed in Charlotte
form most of my life.
Speaker 13 (31:13):
Uh.
Speaker 16 (31:14):
I do have some people in ra in Raleigh though, Okay,
But uh I went to school in Chapel Hill. Uh
and just you know, got drive by the commanders in it.
And my my home base is still Charlotte. So I'm
a Charlotte natives.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
What do you say? I mean?
Speaker 7 (31:28):
Has it's all kind of the same region, right yup?
Speaker 9 (31:31):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (31:31):
What is this for you? How big of transitions to
to to move out of that area?
Speaker 16 (31:37):
Uh it's it's warmer, I can tell you that. Uh
it's not not it's not too far from home. But
uh you know, ma'am, I'm I'm just excited to be here.
Speaker 11 (31:47):
Uh.
Speaker 16 (31:47):
And it's a new opportunity and it's it's a change,
and you know we love changing and you know, only
be better with change.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
What kind of clicked for you late last season?
Speaker 12 (31:56):
You explosed in the playoffs, cause the life is going right,
so situation right matchups?
Speaker 16 (32:02):
Uh man f w I just think you know, first,
you know, I thank God for everything that that happened
throughout this past uh year. But I just I think
time and wise and what was going on and what
was in the plan at the time.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Uh.
Speaker 16 (32:16):
You know, you can say things happen for a reason,
and I I was just given the opportunity, uh and
I had wanted to take advantage of the opportunity that
was given to me. And I'm uh grateful for that.
Speaker 7 (32:25):
You mentioned Bruhan hu hu exhying.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Is it the you know, be in the same room.
Speaker 6 (32:28):
As a now uh man.
Speaker 16 (32:30):
I I saw what he did this past year, and uh,
you know, and he's a dog, and you know, and
just being beside him, being two two dolls and being
two competitors, I think we can we can do big
things on this offense.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
What do you feel like you bring him to the
table here?
Speaker 16 (32:43):
Oh man, just just a uh that dog mentality uh
uh people can always evaluate. Uh, you you got a speedster,
he can go deep and all the other stuff. But man,
at the end of the day, i'm'a hold myself to
a highest standard and i'm'a holding people around me to
a highest standard. So just bring that dog mentality in
in order to be great and wanted to be great.
Speaker 8 (33:02):
That's what I bring on.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Your deal is always kind of gambling on yourself.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
You like that?
Speaker 16 (33:06):
Oh yeah, most definitely you have to gamble on yourself.
Speaker 8 (33:08):
Who w a Suposta.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
Game on somebody else?
Speaker 13 (33:16):
How?
Speaker 7 (33:16):
Gambling?
Speaker 16 (33:17):
Yeah, I t I take that bet on me.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Did you watch any.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Uh Tampa last year to get a sense of Liam
and what he likes to do offensively is see kind
of visualize yourself in there and.
Speaker 16 (33:28):
You don't under so uh, I mean we played him
twice last year. Uh kind of got a good understanding of,
you know how how you wanted this office to go.
Then he had some some guys over there that that
made some big plays as well. Uh, you know, far
as the run game in the past game, it seemed
pretty balanced to me, And I think I think you
have some things to draw up for, you know, for
for the guys that's here, so I expect me things.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
You ever had too many opportunities so far in your career,
you know, to go out there, catch masses, all all
that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
So how is this for you to be able to
come in here get.
Speaker 12 (33:59):
More just how much?
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Some times maybe potential? Do you feel like you have
to show to s to the rest of room?
Speaker 6 (34:06):
Uh?
Speaker 16 (34:06):
Man, I at the end of the day, I I
still have to earn it. The opportunity that's given to me. Uh,
it's a handout. That's not something that I'm looking for.
Speaker 6 (34:13):
Uh.
Speaker 16 (34:14):
But at the end of the day, you know, uh
what the process is going through all of this, you know,
I j I just wanna go in there and work.
And I feel like there's there's a lot more on
the tank that I have that hasn't even been shown yet.
Speaker 8 (34:24):
So looking forward to it as a.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Team last year, what what what end that playoff room?
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Like?
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Can you describe how it was the wife or whatever?
We ah, Man, it's just.
Speaker 16 (34:36):
Man, we w We were so close, you know, and
we was always always there for each other. We can
communicate like what we saw and and we had some
some older guys in there like Bobby and Zach Ertz
and you know they they kind of let Jayn Jayden
lean on them uh a whole lot more so, and
we all needed on each other. And we we had
some guys that can that played uh a different type
(34:59):
of role and for us, like how they had the
standard was it was always clear lit and we kind
of understood that. So I think that that run there,
we just fail on each other and became like kept
that brotherhood going. And that's what got us through the
the hard times, the tough times. And and you could
see like we were finishing finishing games. You know, like
(35:19):
a lot of games were close, but we'll finish because
that's what that's what we wanted to do. And we
trusted in each other to get things done.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
And that's what happened.
Speaker 16 (35:27):
Go that fast in the locker room, oh l we
did last year.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
What's like is uh is a player going against him.
Speaker 16 (35:40):
Ah man I and I I like him a lot,
you know I I I've been against him for a
couple of years and you know, he's he's real fundamentally sound. Uh.
He he get chippy a little bit sometimes too, but
I mean that's that that's a part of the game.
But I think him coming in just being a dog
that he is and being high he is. I think
he can make a big difference on the defensive side
as well.
Speaker 7 (36:00):
What's your special teams background? What's your role? Sorry, what's
your special teams background?
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Your role for this team?
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Specialism life recording?
Speaker 16 (36:08):
Uh so, I I didn I did did I played Gunner?
I did, Like I mean, the kickoff rules a little
bit different now, so I mean I didn't. I did
that too, so but for real, it's just man. Special
teams a little different. You gotta have a different mentality
of playing special teams. You gotta be a real dog
for that. So you know, I plan to bring that
here as well.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Armcher. Oh yeah, okay, right, th
Speaker 6 (36:32):
Alright, thank you, thank you.
