Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to another episode of the Game Preview Podcast presented
by LifeLock Ethan Greenberg, Cynthia Freeland in the House.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Jets Eagles. The Jets Snap, They're losing skid take down.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
The Denver Broncos. Final score thirty one to twenty one
in Denver. The Jets now two and three, welcoming in
the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. Before we dive into this, Cynthia,
on paper, do you think this is the most challenging
matchup the Jets have had yet so far this season?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
I mean Week one against the Bills seemed pretty challenging
as well, so probably this one just because this is
not a familiar opponent you don't play as often.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
But I don't know between the.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Two like a fully stocked shelf of Bills versus you know,
like I mean, the Eagles have had a chance to
play together now, so it's kind of six of one
half a dozen of another.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
But I need to shout out your social team.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
I totally forgot about this when we were talking ahead
of the podcast. You're whatever whoever thought to like make
fun of Adam Rank who I'm on NFL Fantasy Live with.
It was so funny. I don't know if you understood
his response that he was like put himself he photoshopped
his head in like Kevin Jaane's like the King of
Queens thing. I mean, Rank is an idiot and like

(01:15):
I love Rank, He's like the funniest idiot ever. But
like that was I was on the floor laughing. It
was so funny.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
They're like with Aaron Rodgers face, that was so good.
Who Ever did that?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Wow, I'm glad you mentioned that because I thought you
were going to mention just the Kevin James Sean Payton
photoshop that Aaron Rodgers mentioned on Pat McAfee.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
We're going next level.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
We're talking the Adam Rank and the Aaron Rodgers bum comment.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
So good, so good.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
It was whoever? Social team?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Right, social team?

Speaker 4 (01:45):
But I mean, well, well.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Cynthia's still laughing about it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I think obviously, if you get shouted out by one
Cynthia Freeland, two Aaron Rodgers three Pat McAfee, you're doing
a pretty good job.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Sony days later, right, Like that's true virality.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
We're talking about this like several days later.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Virality. That's a great word.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
So you're gonna hear from Jeff Ulbrick today if you're
listening to this podcast, and he was great. He sat
down with Eric Allen. They talked about what makes this
defense go. They talked about Bryce hoff the matchup a
little bit, and before we dive into it, Cynthia, I
just think this is so interesting, uh one, the Jets
of not being the Eagles in franchise history. They're zero

(02:29):
to twelve against the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
But I was going to bring it up.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
You said it, not I said it. I said it
because I think this is just so funny. I have
to bring this up that the other streaks in terms
of like franchises who were or are winless against other opponents.
This is like in a little research packet's notes that
I believe the NFL network sends out and they the
other team names include the Brooklyn Tigers and Dodgers, the

(02:57):
Frankfurt Yellow Jackets, the Buffalo Bison, the Minneapolis Red Jackets,
and the Columbus Tigers. Like I didn't even know that
those were real football teams back in the day.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I'm glad we changed some of those names. I mean,
maybe we could talk to the Commanders. I still don't
like their name. They should have kept it at Washington
football team that was better. But look like some of
these names are like like you know, bees and like things.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
You're like, I'm not that scared of a bee. Like
we like bees. We don't really want to get the.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Frankford Yellow Jackets.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
They won the NFL championship in nineteen twenty six. Oh
my god, great, yeah, okay, great and you know, funny
enough to bring this full circle. They were based in
Frankfort f r A n K F O r D, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
which brings us to this week's matchup.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
And because there we go, look at you, Yo, that
was unplanned posting right there.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
That was unplanned because I legitimately had no idea where
Frankfort was. Like, it is hard for me to say
Frankfort period because I feel like, if you're listening, you're
thinking I'm saying frank Furt with a T, it is not.
So it's basically, I guess what the Philly the Philly
Eagles were back in the day. But this is what
I want to do because typically we just you know,

(04:12):
we break it down as we usually do.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I want to have a.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Little bit of a game instead where we get to
we usually we're teammates, and we'll be teammates again when
we do How well do you know your co host?
But I want to do a draft because the Eagles
have so much talent and I feel like everyone talks
about the Niners and the Eagles as the two most
talented teams on paper.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
So with that being said, we're going to draft.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
We'll alternate picks the most important or best Eagles.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
And then we'll compare how we do.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
So with that being said, Cynthia, you get first pick
because you're the guests and because I said so, so
you get first pick.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Well, I mean, you can't really go anywhere else besides
the quarterback position with your number one overall pick, especially
because we've seen Jalen Hurts. You know, he battled through
the flu or his illness symptoms or whatever.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
When he was playing the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
We see him now using his feet a lot more
and kind of came together last week against the Rams
to get that nice like where we see him in
his sweet spot, meaning dealing the ball all around, not
just to aj Brown, but in that case to Dallas
Goddard as well. So really it's Jalen Hurts. Maybe it's
the O line, that's the secret one. But that would
be taking five people and I just felt like that
wasn't the right rule for the game. So I'm gonna

(05:29):
go with Jalen Hurts for this one. And it's going
to be hard to defend such a dual threat.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yeah, I guess it's a good point.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Are we individualizing the offensive and defensive lines or are
we going to collectively do it?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I think you have to do it individually because I
would rather want to do it, and.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Like because because on defense, like the O.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Line feels like it's a group, but the defense feels
like because like I wouldn't want to have to talk
about all of the Jets defense defensive line as like
a you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Oh you know?

Speaker 4 (06:00):
So that's kind I feel.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
And what let's do five player teams? How about that?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Great? Perfect?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
So, But speaking of.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Jalen Hurts, I do want to mention this because he
threw for over three hundred last week.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
He had seventy two on the ground.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
The Jets defense a little susceptible the past couple weeks
to quarterbacks chucking it and running between Patrick Mahomes and
Russell Wilson. Those two guys combined for one hundred yards
just rushing, and Jalen Hurts obviously is a very much
a dual threat, debatably the top one the Jets have
seen this year. Maybe other than Josh Allen, I think
he'd be the only other one you could make in

(06:34):
that argument. How do you go about stopping Jalen Hurts
knowing he has debatably the best a line in football,
two extremely skilled position players at receiver, one of the
best tight ends in the NFL, and a number of
running backs who can get the job done.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
And that's a lot. So how do you go about it?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
The good news is is that even though the like
you talk about, like Patrick Mahomes or Russ Wilson, by
the way, two those are two of the best, like
the Russell Wilson's rushes weren't really the word I'm going
to use is a factor like that was kind of
like Smith Like, it was like it happened, and they
were like it felt like they were willing to give
that up to not allow other things to happen. I

(07:16):
think that it's the trade offs, and that's where Robert
sale Like really succeeds is figuring out which trade offs
to take. So they have tendencies just like everyone else
when they line up with certain heavy personnel, like does
what has Swift been doing?

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Right?

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Like, how have they been using him?

Speaker 3 (07:29):
And I think that one of the things that now
that we've had enough weeks of film, you can see
some of the Eagles tendencies, Like when they line up
with certain personnels, it's often going to be to aj Brown, right,
like we saw a lot of like DeVante Smith last
week ran like all of the routes and had maybe
one catch for six yards something very crazy like that,
a very low low number, and it was because they

(07:50):
weren't the the rams weren't tricked into thinking that this
was the DeVante Smith catch. So yes, he did drop
one whatever, we were not gonna wry about that. But ultimately,
you know, the tencies are now on film and they're
able to figure out how to anticipate those tendencies and
get the better one on ones, like I'll put Sauce
up against anyone, right, Like, I think that there's a

(08:12):
lot of pieces of this defense that match up very
unfavorably for the Eagles offense. But again, it's about, you know,
the way that they're prepared and study, and it's very
fitting that we have a defensive coordinator talking in this
matchup because that, to me is like the most important
and crucial part because if the Eagles get this crazy lead,
it's gonna be very hard to come back. And then
that's for any team. The Eagles are a very very

(08:32):
strong team top to bottom, but you know it's going
to be the defense that really bolsters the offense in
this one.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
I totally agree, and job well done. DeVante Smith one
reception on five targets for six yards. It was aj
Brown who did most of the damage. He had one
hundred and twenty seven yards that led the team. Dallas
Goddard went over one hundred for one seventeen his eight catches,
meaning Dallas Goddards eight catches led the Philadelphia Eagles in

(09:00):
a twenty three to fourteen win over the Los Angeles Rams.
The Eagles are five and zho so the quarterback a
big reason for that. So you went, Jalen Hurts and
I'm struggling where to go because I'm trying to play chess,
you know what I mean, Like I'm trying to think,
like where Cynthia gonna go next? And when you look
at like who is the best player on the rest

(09:21):
of the team. This is gonna sound a little crazy
if you're unfamiliar with who I'm gonna say. It's hard
for me not to go with Jalen Carter because and
so I'm gonna go with you. I'm gonna go with
Jalen Carter because those who don't know the ninth overall
pick out of Georgia. There were some questions leading up
into the draft, like he was in not he was

(09:43):
not technically the only one in legal trouble, but there
was a legal thing going on, and people who are like,
I think the aura was like how much does he
really love football? Talent wise, he was the top if
not top three players, and just in terms of pure talent,
and is it crazy to say sin Like when I
look at the numbers, he's like top of all defensive

(10:04):
tackles in the NFL. In terms of like pressures, he
has two sacks. He has at least four pressures in
every game this season. There's only one player that has
at least four pressures over a longer streak, and that's
Micah Parsons. And if you're in the same breath as
Micah Parsons, You're doing a damn good job. So all
this to say, is it crazy to think that Jalen Carter,
at a young twenty year old or a young twenty

(10:27):
plus year old, is already playing at the elite level
of interior play or is he just benefiting from how
stout that Eagles d line is.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Well a little bit of both, because if you look
to see, he's actually right up there with Aaron Donald
and Aaron Donald's back this year for those of you
who haven't watched Rams games.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
But ultimately, Aaron Donald has been wrecking that interior.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
He's been like the poster boy of defensive tackle or
interior pressure play since he joined the league. Right So,
when you're looking at Aaron Donald and you're looking at
Jalen Carter and you're seeing that similar numbers are happening,
what you're not seeing is the same rate of double
and triple teams. So, yes, he's getting a little bit
of the benefit of the fact that there's a lot
of really good rushers on that defensive front, but he's

(11:13):
still making the most of it, right like, just because
he's not being double Like, okay, great, we don't actually
know what he would do. If he's being double teamed
at that same rate, likely there'll be a dip and
then he'll figure it out and figure and rate the ship.
But he doesn't have to because they've got to stop
everyone else too. So especially because there's a missing piece,
maybe like one of my favorite players on the interior

(11:34):
o line not able to play for the Jets, I
agree with you that Jalen Carter is going to be
a nasty force to deal with.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Okay, so I'm going to side it.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Just we're gonna do three player teams because that way
we get six players.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
You know, we don't eat up the whole clock.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
So with that being said, your second pick in the
Philadelphia Eagle draft is who.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Well, I gotta go with AJ Brown, Yeah, because we've
seen the guy. He's in the hall in the targets.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Right.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
That was a nice game from Dallas Goddard against the Rams,
and it will probably mean now that Defonte Smith is
the guy who catches, like, you know, the most the
Lion's share of the targets. But Aj Brown seems to
be the guy that Jalen Hursts is looking for, and
they scheme him open, they find the mismatches he's not
like he's standing in one spot and has like a
signature go router, you know, like Stefan Diggs on a
hitch is like unbeatable, but maybe other routes not so

(12:23):
much his favorite, Right, So I'm looking at AJ Brown
in some diversity in these deep passes and the fact
that you know, when he's targeted on ten plus aer
yard passes, that number goes way up for Jalen Hurts.
And I'm thinking, you know what AJ Brown like sometimes
like the simplest answer is the right one.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
So I'm going to go with I'm going to go
with AJ Brown.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I think it's a great choice.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
And AJ Brown is obviously one of the best receivers
in this league and he's the eagles number one option.
But I think what makes them so scary is that
even though if age is what you said earlier, like
AJ Brown had six receptions for one hundred and twenty
seven yards, but just as easily as DeVante Smith had
one cast for six yards, like it could be reversed

(13:04):
any given yes, And like, so with that being said,
what is why why do they compliment each other so well?

Speaker 2 (13:13):
In terms of AJ Brown and DeVante Smith.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Well, you have to you have to factor Dallas Goddard
in there as well. Part of it is because the
way that they that O line gives Jalen Hurts extra time.
You know, that's a huge deal. And Jalen Hurts now
being able to make multiple reads and then defenses having
to respect Davante and Dallas and AJ Brown and then
figuring out like, look like, you know, there's a Jalen

(13:38):
Ramsey sized hole in their defense for the Rams, So
why not target a very inexperienced corner with a guy
like AJ Brown who is massive. So you just get
your exploiting mismatches in that in that regard and sometimes
you know, like it you draw the the good end
and sometimes you don't write like the routes at AJ

(13:59):
Brown that they dialed up for the specific game against
that specific type of you know, they have to account
for Aaron Donald by doing X and Y, so those
tend to favor the routes that are run by AJ
Brown in this particular way, right, So that was their
strategy against the Rams last week we saw, you know,
a J. Brown's been kind of like this year has
been like really getting open, finding extra separation. He has

(14:21):
has increased his percentage of routes run where he has
at least three yards of separation, so that's considered wide open.
So it's easier to throw the ball to a guy
with wide who's wide open, rather than to a guy
in tight coverage who you never know it could go
the other way, even if you're the most preciseive haassers.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
And AJ Brown has one hundred and twenty five receiving
yards at least in each of his last three games,
and no Philly players ever done that four straight games.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
But he's been great for the Eagles lately.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
There was that one little like blow up quote unquote
that TV car or like maybe AJ Brown's not so
happy with Jalen hurts well between weeks three and falling out.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yeah, between weeks three and five.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Yeah, it does winning fix.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
And he leads the NFL in receiving yards between weeks
three and five, so like, clearly they figured it out.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
It was early in the year.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
A J.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Brown's a great selection, and I'm going to go I'm
keeping on the offensive and defensive line theme because I
want to go with an offensive lineman. And I think
most people listening to this would think, oh, he's about
to say Jason Kelcey. I'm going with Lane Johnson because
Lane Johnson, Jason kelse did you think Jason.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Kelcey, of course, yeah, Well he'd be a great option.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
There's another Kelsey Swift duo in this matchup in terms
of yes, yes there is, yeah, you like that.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
That was I'll give myself a pat on the back
for that. I want to go with.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Lane Johnson though, because Lane Johnson, I saw this stat
this week has not allowed a sack since twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
That is I mean freacausely.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
So, what was John Solano even born then? We don't
even know.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
We don't have confromation John Polano catching strays love that
love that.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
John Solano was probably still in college, maybe he was
maybe even high school at that point.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
We don't even know.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, he was probably well I don't want to say
he was drinking in somebody's basement, because he wouldn't do
such a thing.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
But there were definitely people consuming doing pears.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Yeah, his knotty peers were doing that, but not him, not.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Our John Polano, not our Nope.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Well, that's a great question. We'll check in with him
after we hear from Jeff Fullbrick. So he can have
a chance to you know, respond to the ricochet or
the stray that he just caught.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
But Lane Johnson's a freak okay. And like Lane Johnson
played with torn growing at one point last season and look,
I stubbed my toe. It hurts this man. Torre is
growing and blocked three hundred or two hundred and fifty
plus pound men in reverse.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
That's his job.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Okay, that's not normal so to me, especially with the
way Bryce Huff has been playing, and Bryce Huff lines
up a lot of the time over the right tackle.
Bryce hoff coming off a career high in terms of
pressures with eight pressure rate at forty percent, He's definitely
carving himself out a role. But Lane Johnson is the

(17:25):
krem de la Creme of the NFL. As is this
Eagles offensive line. And Cynthia, I want you to help
me out here, because when you look at who the
Jets have played so far this year, the best offensive
line they've seen was the Dallas Cowboys, and the Jets
really didn't have a whole lot of push along the
line that game. You just chalk that up to being

(17:45):
on the road, or do you think that, like, you
know what the Jets are gonna have to bring a
little bit of the heat, like we saw last week
when Quincy Williams was sent on the blitz.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
I think that they're going to have to bring more heat.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
But I think part of the asterisk were the Cowboys
for me, is mostly because it was adjusting to the
first week. Like the entire offseason was spent planning for
Aaron Rodgers to be the quarterback. Like even the defense
feels that, right, So now you're having this big switch
and although people are like, well it's not the same
size as the ball, the whole thing is different, you know,

(18:19):
the whole operation becomes different.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Then, so let's be honest.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
I think that whole game just in general, you're kind
of like, well there was some learnings from it, but
on some level you got to let them get us
like which team, like, you know, fair, unfair whatever.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
A lot of media was saying, is Zach Wilson slowing
to be the quarterback?

Speaker 3 (18:38):
And that's annoying and it's very distracting, and it's very
you know, there's just a lot of things that were
you spend all this time, you know, like you spend
all this time planning.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
And then it's just different.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
So and you have it's it's going to take a
minute to readjust no matter what.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
So who is your final team member of Cynthia's Eagles draft.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
I'm going to go with DeAndre Swift?

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Okay, probably because I mean, look, like you know, I
think he's got these explosive plays. He gets to stand
behind that O line it excuse me, works with Kelsey
and Swift.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
The whole thing just.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Matches, it does Would you like some water?

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Yeah? No, I was just joking there for a second.
I'm good. Now, No, we're good.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
I'll do it when when when when the defense quarter
starts talking? But look, DeAndre Swift, the thing that makes
him so interesting are those the ability to have explosive plays.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
He didn't do that in Detroit.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
In part because they didn't have the type of plays
or the real threat of the dual court, the dual
threat quarterback, so he wasn't able to kind of get
those opportunities and looks. So I think you're starting to
see DeAndre Swift be the guy that the Lions initially
drafted him to be, but it didn't work out there
because Jared Goffs the pocket passer.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
He just is.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
I think it's a great choice.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
And the Jets haven't been great on in rush defense
so far, but they've only allowed eight total touchdowns this year.
Their red zone defense's top three in the NFL. Their
goal to go efficiency is number one in the league.
So that's definitely something to hang your hat on, because
if you're the Jets, you're gonna want You're gonna want
to see a lot of Jake Elliott, hopefully compared to

(20:21):
Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
And when I say see Jake Elliott, I don't mean
in terms of extra points. I mean in terms of
field goal attempts.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
So with that being said, you're going DeAndre Swift. So
your team is Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeAndre Swift. I'm
Jalen Carter, Lane Johnson. I'm gonna say Dallas Goddard because
you already hit on, you already touched on the receivers,
and Dallas Goddard is feels like he was kind of
slow to start the season, feels like he's fighting his

(20:48):
stride and he is one of the best tight ends
in the NFL. You know that Jalen Hurts very much
enjoys having Dallas got her on the offense. He looks
to him quite frequently as well, as we saw last
week he led the team with eight receptions. So I'm
gonna go with Dallas Goddard and the Jets are gonna
have to account for him, whether that's a linebacker, whether
that's a little bit of a big nickel package with

(21:09):
an extra safety on the field.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Hopefully DJ Reid clears concussion protocol.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Fully so that way you can live on a little
bit of an island if you need to reed and
garner against AJ Brown and DeVante Smith. Devote a little
more attention to Jalen Hurts and you know, for more
on this matchup. I think it's time we hear from
Jeff Albrick with EA. In that way, Cynthia gets a
little bit of a water break too.

Speaker 6 (21:31):
Brick, thanks for joining us today.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
We'll being here.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
So you are pinchingting for the head coach, so we're
expecting a big time. Okay, that's cool, all right, So
let's start at the end of the game against Denver Broncos.
That play Does it speak to the contributions of getting
from everybody on defense? You got an emerging star at
linebacker and Quincy Williams comes in with the stripsack.

Speaker 7 (21:53):
And then you have.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Bryce Hall, a guy who was forced into the starting
lineup because of injury, and he comes up with the
scoop and score, and that's some months to win.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Yeah, really cool. First of all, Quincy, I would challenge
anybody to say there's a linebacker playing at a higher
level than him right now. So cool for a kid
that's just came to us cut from the team that
drafted him, that's always a struggle. That's always tough, and
to come here and refocus himself and really commit to

(22:25):
a process and and just to see these incremental improvements
from year to year and now finally you're seeing the
byproduct of it all. He's playing at a, in my opinion,
at all pro level. For him to finish the game
off like he did is so cool, and it's just
it's so well deserved for for all he's put into this,
and then for Bryce to pick the ball up and

(22:46):
score the way he did. You know, Bryce, obviously, our
first year here as a coaching staff, he was our
starter for every single game and he played good football.
And then obviously we we draft Sauce and we signed
DJ Reid, and that's difficult and I've lived that life,
you know. I was in San Francisco when we drafted
Patrick Quillis, and safe to say I couldn't beat out
Patrick Willis, So you know, I became a backup, and

(23:08):
I became a special teams player and embraced that role
as well. But that's never easy, you know, for anybody,
you know, because you start to see yourself in one
light and then all of a sudden it's taken from you.
Bryce is such a unique individual because a lot of
guys will will pout, a lot of guys will get negative,
and and that is the opposite of what Bryce did.

(23:29):
He embraced his role in every way. And although I
know it still burned inside that he wasn't the starter,
he approached every day like he was the starter. And
because of that, when he had his opportunity, he took
advantage of it and played at a at a really
high level. And it was I'm just so happy for
him because he could have gone sideways when when DJ
and Saw showed up here and he didn't, So really cool.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
How did it feel playing with the lead? Finally, in
that second half, there was a street there where le
Broncos had five possessions this eighteen yards.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
Yeah, like that that's I'd like to say, that's that's
our defense. You know that we don't do a lot,
so it gives us the ability to really absorb information
from an offense. So as the game gets going, I
feel like we play at a at a higher level
because you know, by the fourth quarter, everything's been shown,
and because we play so little defense, we know it
is actually how to pick everything up. We know what

(24:23):
the matchups look like, we know what the formations look like,
all those things. So it's really cool to see us
finish it in that way. But saying that we need
to start better, we need to start faster, we need
to start with better energy, focus, and we're gonna we're
gonna unturn every stone to do that this week.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
What goes into that as far as starting.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Quicker, I'm gonna do everything. I'm gonna I'm gonna emphasize
it in the meetings. You know, we're gonna start a
little different in our meetings. We're gonna start a little
different our walkthroughs, start a little different practice, and hopefully
kick in a mechanism where you know, it just becomes
a part of who we are in our DNA. Now,
it's not catastrophic the way we've started. It's just stuff

(25:04):
that's just not indicative of our defense and some mistakes
that we typically don't ever make. So we got to
clean it up. And knowing that group, I know we will.
You've got to like what you're getting.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
As far as scoring, you guys scored nine points against
le Broncos. The previous week, you had a safety. That's
two consecutive weeks now with the safety.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Yeah, we pride ourselves on that, and we understand that
the ball is how you win this game, and getting
a ball and scoring is I don't know what the
statistic is, but it's it's close to one of the
biggest stats out there as far as winning and losing
games when you score on defense or special teams. So
that's huge, and that's always a goal of ours whenever

(25:48):
we doesn't matter we get we get a fumble, we
get an interception. Practice every single time we go to
the end zone with it, you know, So we try
to train ourselves to just that becomes what we do.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
And speaking of getting contributions from everybody, he sent Jamien
Sherwood on a blitz there and then al Woods who
was a game day enact of the previous week, gets
his hands on this former teammate, Russell Wilfson.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
Really cool. Yeah, Al's a guy that's just he means
so much to us. Not obviously he crossed the white line.
He is a problem for offenses because he's just so
big and strong, massive human being in there. But he
also brings a culture element to our team. He has,
you know, different level of professionalism. He's played twenty seven

(26:32):
years whatever it is now, he's played forever, you know,
and he's played at a high level and he's really
showing these young guys what a pro is supposed to
be on and off the field. So he's meant a
lot to us. So for him to have that moment,
that opportunity, especially against next teammate like that and a
critical play in the game, really cool, you know. And
Jamian's another one that's just since we've gotten him here,

(26:55):
he's just gotten him. He's gotten better and better and better.
It came as a converted safety and it's safe to
say he is officially an NFL linebacker.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Now, you talked about Quincy before you play the position.
What do you think about that pairing that you have
Quincy and c J. Mosley, because I would argue that
c J. Mosley hasn't played better in his career either.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
Yeah, I wouldn't trade this linebacker tandem for anybody in
the league. And that is the absolute truth. That's not exaggeration,
that's not because I'm here. We got we got Quincy,
who is this just amazing athletic talent that is starting
to now put his football intelligence and pairing that with
this athleticism to create this really cool player. And you

(27:39):
got CJ who has just unmatched instinct and he's just
he's such a unique problem solver. You know, you're always
going to get unscouted looks and unscouted plays every single
game that you play, and without a high level processor
in the middle of your defense to really fix those problems,
things can go sideways on you pretty quick. And he

(28:00):
consistently every single game gets us on the same page,
and he elevates everybody around him. And I would agree
with you. I think he's playing his best football, which
is saying something for a guy's played as much really
good football that he has.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
You got a lot of dubs and talent along that
defensive line. Can you speak to Bryce Hoff his percentage
of snaps last week forty four, most in his career.
He's always getting around the quarterback. And how bar Jermaine
Johnson the steps he's taken here in your two in
the physicality that he brings to up position, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
For sure. Like Bryce is a guy that I know
that from the outside, sometimes you look at him as
kind of a DPR pass rust specialist, but I think
he's he's becoming way more than that. He's becoming an
every down player and you see when he gets opportunities
to play, all he does is make plays, you know,
and it's not just affecting the quarterbacks. He's getting better

(28:54):
at defending the run and becoming a really good edgsetter
as a defensive end in our scheme. So about his future,
he is an ascending player in my opinion. And Jermaine
is a guy that you know, you can't speak enough about.
The guy came in here year one and he was young,
and he was a rookie and still fighting his way
as far as what it takes to be a pro.

(29:15):
And he has found that, you know, and you know,
it's really cool to see him progress. Like the talent
was always there. But now the process is right, you know,
the meeting habits, the practice habits, the walk through habits,
all of that, taking care of his body, the nutrition,
the regent. All that he does is really taking his
game to the next level. And I still believe he's

(29:37):
got way more in the tank. So it's gonna be
fun to see him progress and become the player that
we all know he's capable of becoming.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
Michael Carr is second. What does he mean to this group?

Speaker 5 (29:46):
He is our Swiss army knife. He is our I
call him babybacker because he's he's a linebacker, he's a dB,
he's a corner, he's a he obviously plays nickel. He
does everything for us. He fits into the run game.
I mean he is and not just I'm not talking
about like a sea gap or on the edges on
the perimeter. I mean he is a b gap fitter

(30:07):
in the noise, you know, where the linebackers live. And
he does it consistently. And he's physical and he's tough,
and he's smart and he's athletic. And I always get
teased because they say he's my favorite player on my defense,
you know, just because he is such a Swiss army
knife and he does so many things for us. And plus,

(30:27):
if you know Michael Carter, you just you love the
human being that he is too. He's so selfish and
such a great teammate and works so hard at this thing,
and we are so lucky to have him. To think
he's a fifth round pick, it just blows my mind.
You know, I really think that's a byproduct of COVID.
You know, it was a year where you really couldn't
get your hands on kids, because I really believe if

(30:49):
more teams had more access to him, he would have
been a Day one pick for sure.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
How are teams approaching soft Gardener differently in near two?

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Definitely less targets, definitely, you know, it's a he doesn't
get tried a whole lot, you know, which I know
can get frustrated to him because he wants the noise.
He wants he wants to be targeted, he wants to
be thrown at, he wants to be attacked. He loves
that challenge. So definitely less, you know, But at the

(31:18):
same time he is he is you know, it's finding
his way still. You know, he's a guy that really
understands defense at a higher level. Than most second year players,
you know. And his next challenge, as we've talked about,
is really getting the ball because the elite corners they
get the ball on a consistent basis. And I know

(31:39):
that's hard when you're not getting targeted as much, but
still that's still a place I think that he can
he can go to another place, and he will because
he does. He's another guy that absolutely works at it
the same way that those other guys do.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
Let's talk about the unique challenge ahead with the Photelphia Eagles. YEP,
can compare their offense to anybody in the league right now.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
I mean, we just finished about a five hour session
watching you know a lot of their stuff, and it
feels like like Madden a little bit, you know, make
make belief plays. It's like you can tell their offensive
coaches have a whole lot of fun structuring their offense
and putting things together. Just because of all the talent
and the unique players that they have on their offense.

(32:19):
It's gonna be a tremendous challenge. Their run game is
unmatched right now. You know, they just and it's not
just it's it and it's everything. Like sometimes you might say, oh,
they're just a smash mouth team. They're going to be physical.
And then you might say there where they are a
gimmick team, you know, a game plan driven team where
they do a lot of stuff to attack your scheme.

(32:42):
They're both they will absolutely they'll line up and quarterback
under center and hand the ball off and they're run
right at you and knock you off the ball. And
then the next play they're going to be in gun
and it's going to be his onery bypass where Jalen's
pulling it and there's guys leading him. So they've got
all the toys and the whist in the in the
run game with real physicality to back it all up,

(33:04):
you know. So it's gonna be a it's gonna be
a tremendous challenge for us, you know. And then the
passing game, goodness, gracious. You know you've got a j Brown,
You've got Smith against a knife for come. Yeah. Then
you've got Goddard who's coming alive. You've got both backs
who are using the in the run game. So there
is every level defense gonna be challenged. There's no there's

(33:27):
no uh. It's not by accident that they're undefeated. It's
not by accident that they went to Super Bowl last year?

Speaker 6 (33:32):
How patient do they have to be, meaning they're gonna
get conversions at times? They're so good a third and
fourth down, So like you guys have been very good
at it throughout the year. As far as defending every
blade of grass, yep.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Yeah, that's the that's the makeup, that's the DNA of
this defense. You know, if there's a blade of grasshold
defend it. And they've proven that over and over again.
Whereas we haven't necessarily been the defense we want to
be every down, you know, like we have improvement and
we need to We need to be better and we
will be better because I know the makeup of that group,

(34:07):
our red zone defense, I think is a clear indication
that of the makeup of this defense. The fact that
going into this game we were ranked one whatever it is,
and even following the game, I think we're still top five,
that it shows that, you know, you might get a
few conversions, you might move the ball on us a
little bit, but when push comes to shove, we're not
gonna let.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
You in there without giving away the game plan. What
are you going to do against Hurts who's a dual weapon,
right any's so big and physical.

Speaker 5 (34:37):
As a runner, I don't think you can live in anything.
You know, you have to. You got to. You got
to consistently challenge them with with a lot of different stuff,
whether it be fronts, coverage, picture, you know, like we've
talked about in the past, like sometimes the front four
got to handle him. Sometimes you got to devote another

(34:58):
guy to handle him. So I think variety, and I
think and at the same time us really embracing who
we are and what we do and being true to that.
And we pride ourselves on being physical and that we
get eleven of the ball, and that has to come
to life too. You know, sometimes you play a team

(35:18):
like this, you get so you go down these deep
wormholes regarding scheme to stop them, and you know, and
we've all been victim of losing the essence of our defense,
losing the essence and the style of our team at
times because of that. So we've got to make sure
that we never lose sight of what really makes us special.
And that's that's a style in which we play.

Speaker 6 (35:37):
Do you think you guys live for these moments? Going
back to week one, Based and Josh Allen talk about
Week four face and Patrick Mahomes the way you guys
rose to the occasion.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
Yeah, I think that's the nature of this group, and
you know it's it's funny. A lot of groups would
would look for the easy way out regarding a game
like this. This group embraces this challenge, so I know
they're fired up. They're already begging for cutups and game
plan tips and all those things. So we're ready to

(36:08):
get rolling on these guys.

Speaker 6 (36:09):
Thanks Brick, you did a great job, and that's see.

Speaker 5 (36:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Heads up, Jets fans.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
There are more identity threats than most people realize, and
you can't catch them all on your own.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
It takes a team.

your own US based identity restoration specialist will work to
fix it back by our million dollar protection package. Plus,

A lot of great stuff on Bryce Huff The Jets
defense going up against a challenging offense, it's time to
bring in John Polano. You're doing all right from earlier.

Speaker 8 (36:55):
I'm just trying to mend the wounds that you guys
caused in my chests while I was away. Just Laine
Johnson's stabs left and right.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Were your friends drinking in basements in twenty twenty.

Speaker 7 (37:06):
I'm not going to incriminate myself.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
But I didn't say you. I said your friends, hypothetically.

Speaker 7 (37:11):
Speaking, and the year twenty twenty a lot was going on.
I was plor I don't really remember.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
Yeah, I guess hypothetically speaking.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
You know, that's a good point, because you were definitely
taking six feet apart protocol, of course, so this is
all hypothetical.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
People were six feet beers were in my hand.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
There was also hypothetically that you had friends in twenty twenty,
all right, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
I mean I got paid back.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
I couldn't speak, so I you know, and I couldn't
say all bricks because I was afraid with the tea
that I'd be like all right like that, so I
couldn't speak, you know, like I got paid back. I
got my karmic retribution. Happened, So we're it.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
With that being said, are we doing the same thing
as last week? You get to know your post? Yes,
we are rock and roll.

Speaker 7 (37:52):
Find if you guys really know each other.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Oh yeah, well you saying like one we could have
been a fluke, but now yeah, you guys.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
Went through for three last week. But gosh, I gotta
get you on one of these.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
All right, yeah, let's let's fired up.

Speaker 8 (38:03):
Well first, before we get to that, I just want
to shout out the Rochester Jefferson's as one of those
teams from well back in nineteen sixteen NFL but NYPFL champions.

Speaker 7 (38:14):
They go in that same category as the Buffalo Bisons.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
They are the Jeffersons like the Thomas Jeffersons.

Speaker 7 (38:21):
I can't. I have no idea, but they're from my hometown.
So go Roches.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
Al right, great, yeah, yeah, rock and roll, rock and roll.

Speaker 7 (38:30):
Like R O C H.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (38:34):
All right.

Speaker 8 (38:34):
So for this first one, so again just to refresh
the rules, Cynthia is going to get her answer to
the question. Ethan is going to try and dip himself
into Cynthia's brain, pull the answer out I got, and
match them.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yeah all right.

Speaker 7 (38:47):
So let's find out how well you know your co host.

Speaker 8 (38:49):
So with a team from the City of Brothers Love
coming to matt Life Stadium. One of our two brothers,
Quincy Williams, had an absolute breakout games the Broncos with
two sacks, a force fumble attackle for loss and actually
throughout the season kind of breakout guys has been a
theme for the New York Jets. Break has really come
up off the mat. Xavier Gibson had a huge punp return.

(39:09):
He was undrafted guy Cynthia who is a breakout star
the New York Jets are going to have, So Sunday
I have.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
To think of who Cynthia thinks will break out Sunday.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Yes, and when you.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
Say which side of the ball we'll go defense?

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Okay, yeah, I was singing defense. But here's my question.
Does breakout mean just breakout game this season? Like it
is not a breakout of their career? Is that what
you're saying?

Speaker 8 (39:37):
No, just a single game? I mean I think Quincy
and Yeah really taken yes level.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
But like, for example, if I wanted to go with
one of like the A list Jets defenders, I could.

Speaker 8 (39:47):
Sure absolutely Oh yeah, yeah, you're not going with anything,
what would Cynthia go with?

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Yeah, you're right, you're right, what would Cynthia go?

Speaker 3 (39:52):
I will say While you're thinking about that, I had
to turn in my homework for Game Debut, which is
a show that's on Friday Network and it's paying homage
to Bryce Huff. So okay, we have to when we
pick our like tapes for each game or whatever what
we want to talk about. It's that's so if you're interested,
I can send it to you because it's very it's
very good.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
I would love to see it.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
Also, Uh, speaking of homework, John Palano did his homework
and he watched Anchorman, so that's good.

Speaker 7 (40:21):
Back to the first episode.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Yeah, shout out to and JP did not watch Anchorman anyway.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
So who is Cynthia thinking of? That is a great question.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
And I'm going defense and I'm buying time as I'm
explaining who is a breakout candidate? And my gut wanted
to say Quinn because you said Quincy and she's nodding.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Her head, So I think I want to say Quinnon Williams.
Is that right? Absolute it?

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I don't know why I thought Cynthia was going to
say that, but I don't know it just felt like,
you know, he's been kind of quiet. This is a
big game, and now like this is this is your
time and if the Jets want to win this game,
usually it has to do with interior pressure messing up
the quarterback. Shout out Giants Pats in eight or whatever
year that was. So that's what I'm going with final answer,

(41:11):
love it.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
That's what I was thinking of, because I'm like, well,
if we're gonna go with you said, we're allowed to
go with the A listers, So I'm going with the
A lister. We talk about interior, We talked about Jalen
Carter being disruptive, like let's talk about big Q, like
we need like what like this is absolutely a game
where you see his versatility helping stop the run is
kind of to me like such an under run stops

(41:33):
are such an underrated part of that defensive tackle game
that you need to have, right, Like.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
You can't just be great rushing the passer.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
You also, especially if you're gonna line up that close,
meaning not on the edge, you have to stop the run.

Speaker 4 (41:46):
So that's what he does so well.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
And again with this dual threat quarterback, you've got like, sorry,
it's gonna be too bad for him some pancakes.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Perhaps the interior defensive line play between these teams, or
is just sickening between Quinn Jalen Cards. Yeah, Fletcher Cox,
I mean it's insane.

Speaker 8 (42:05):
It's unreal, and even on our side, we're gonna have
to try and stop that tush Bush.

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Yeah theush.

Speaker 8 (42:09):
I love how solidlated it out today, giving Jalen Hurst
just eleven kisses from the defensive line.

Speaker 2 (42:14):
Sure, sure, sure, all right, what's what's our second question?
All right?

Speaker 8 (42:19):
So the Jets last week against the Broncos obviously came
away with a win, but they did only come up
with three field goals and no touchdowns and a turnover
in five red zone trips against the Broncos, although.

Speaker 7 (42:29):
They moved it really well.

Speaker 8 (42:30):
They had twenty two offensive points a season I four
hundred and seven yards.

Speaker 7 (42:34):
What does what player needs.

Speaker 8 (42:37):
To play well in order for the Jets to have
more success in the red zone because the Eagles honestly
do not have a super great red zone defense.

Speaker 7 (42:43):
So far, they give up the third most.

Speaker 8 (42:45):
Touchdown percentage even up seventy five percent of their red
zone trips from opposing teams have been ended up in touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
So I need to think of a player like who on.

Speaker 8 (42:54):
Our defense is going to be sorry, pardon who on
our offense going to be crucial against to convert against
the Eagles in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
Okay, So just just to clarify, this is excluding Zach
Yeah Wilson. Okay, all right, because would.

Speaker 4 (43:10):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (43:11):
Okay? So who is Cynthia thinking?

Speaker 1 (43:14):
Well, there's only one of two answers here, And to me,
I wanted to say Garrett originally, and then I was thinking,
you know what, he had a good game last week.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Who I'm about to say?

Speaker 1 (43:31):
Cynthia was talking a lot about Dallas Goddard and I'm
gonna go Tyler Conklin.

Speaker 4 (43:39):
Let's go the hair the hair.

Speaker 3 (43:42):
Yes, But also the fact that we talked about this before,
like you know, the safety play is a bit sus
like and they've got you know, the linebackers and coverage
look a little different, right, So if you're talking about
that level kind of in between where the coroners are
and in between, that's a really good yeah for the
tight end to really end up, especially in the red area.

(44:03):
And he's just as a strong catcher and like the
extra first downs that he gets the team are really invaluable,
and those could translate with the more vulnerable wow like
his vulnerable red zone defense, those could translate to touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
Sixty seven yards. Last week Tyler Conklin had that led
the Jets. So to his four catches he had along
of thirty seven and that route that I tweeted when
he put a when he put the linebacker on skates,
Alex Singleton, good night, Yeah, let's give me some of
that against the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (44:33):
Absolutely, absolutely, all right, right for the third one, I'm ready,
all right, let's rock and roll. So you mentioned Zach Wilson.
Obviously he's gonna play a huge factor in this game.
He puts a huge factor in every game. He plays
the most important position in all professional sports. In my opinion,
he really played well against the Broncos. I know his
stat line only said zero touchdowns, one interception, but he
went above seventy percent completion percent. Ellen Wizzard post game

(44:55):
was saying that he was showing leadership in a really
rocks environment come back home, that we'll play against an
Eagle secondary that has not been super super awesome. It's
been thirtieth and passing touchdowns allowed twenty fifth in passing
yards allowed? What player on that Eagle secondary is kind
of susceptible to giving up some points?

Speaker 1 (45:15):
All right, great question. I don't even know the guy's name.
So this is where I'm gonna go as I buy time.
I thought you were gonna say, like, who should you
like watch out for? And that one thousand percent would
have been Darius Lay, Like who should you like? You know?
Oh uh oh yeah, Big Place Lay? Like I'm staying
away from him now, oh way.

Speaker 4 (45:36):
Stay away from Big Place Lay.

Speaker 3 (45:37):
Anything that rhymes away, slay, stay all of it, stay away.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
The The problem is is that the Eagles I think
I think we kind of touched on it, like the
Eagles secondary.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
Yeah. Yeah, now that's where I was gonna go.

Speaker 7 (45:55):
Are we cheating up here?

Speaker 5 (45:56):
No?

Speaker 2 (45:56):
No, no, no cheating. No, there's no cheating.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
This is a So you're listening to this, you didn't
see nothing because you literally are not watching this.

Speaker 7 (46:07):
Look gonna say, I need to bring out the Zebras.

Speaker 2 (46:10):
Yeah, yeah, bring them out.

Speaker 1 (46:11):
I'm sure they'll get the call right anyway, James Bradberry
is a very good cornerback, so I wasn't gonna say
him and Cynthia kind of mentioned this in her answer,
and we've kind of talked about this little pregame. There's
a guy who played at the East West Shrine Game
Shrine Bowl game where Cynthia watches every year. His name

(46:32):
is Reid Blank and Ship. That is my answer.

Speaker 7 (46:35):
Can you expand?

Speaker 2 (46:36):
I think Cynthia can expand why.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
Well, look, there's a lot of good options.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
Right.

Speaker 3 (46:42):
We talked about how the corners are great, and we've
seen like the safety level be where the question marks
happened to be this year. Obviously adjusting to a new
defensive system, obviously a new coordinator, the whole thing is
a little bit different. But I think that when you're
watching this game and you're thinking, well, how are they
giving up so many you know, passing opportunities, especially with

(47:03):
the front.

Speaker 4 (47:03):
Like that, Well, the truth is the safeties are figuring
out what to do. And it's not read Blake Ship's fault.
It's it's just, you know, he wasn't a super high draftic.
Not that that doesn't always matter, but you.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Know, it's it's one of those things where it's he's
only in his second season, and that first season it
was a little bit easier because the defensive system that
they had was apparently a little easier for them to
get and they also had an easier schedule to start
their season last year than they did this year. So
we're just seeing a little bit, a little bit of
a learning curve moment. It's it's not to say that
he can't be great eventually, it's just to say that,

(47:35):
you know, that's an area like I'd rather target him
than I would the corners.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
Yeah, I think that's a great way to go about
this Eagle secondary that is talented and Dary Slay's talented,
James Bradberry's talented, not saying they're like, you know, the
top two corners in the league, but they're still very
good players. So that's cow what I'm looking at as well.
You know, my biggest question Cynthia in terms of Zach
will is like when you look at what he did

(48:03):
last week, the formula was obviously through Breese Hall. When
you look at what the Jets an Eagles matchup is
this weekend, the Eagles lead the NFL and rushing defense
like they've only allowed they're the most rushing yards they've
allowed to a single player was last week. Kyron Williams
fifty three yards, which is not a lot. Bryce Hall

(48:24):
and Bryce Hall Breesall. It's like the death of me,
Bryce Hoff, Bryce Hall, Breesehall. I mean, this is this
is crazy, This is tough. But Brice Hall had one
hundred and seventy seven rushing yards career high, career high
twenty two carries.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
But it seems like.

Speaker 1 (48:39):
If you're the Eagles, you're like, let's just let's pay
a little more attention to that. What does Zach Wilson
need to do that he either hasn't done or what
does he need to continue to do in order to
exploit this Eagle secondary and pass defense, which statistically, to
John Polano's point, is not great.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
He just needs to take the checkdown passes. If they're
there right, obviously their first option is going to be
a deeper pass, and if that's guarded by one of
those two corners, then look be able to be versatile
in the pass game. It's not to say that like
look like Breeze Hall is going to be able to
get some more chunk plays. Kyrien Williams is a brand
new player. That O line is not great, Like they're better,

(49:25):
but they're not great. They're missing some pieces for the Rams,
and the Rams offense was getting Cooper cup Pack, so
that matters too, because you know they wanted to try
to work Cooper cut back in. They've already got Pooka
Nakua too too out well like that, and they're more
of like running anyways, they like they cam Akers is
now in Minnesota. That tells you how they value their
running back position. Right, So it's just gonna be a

(49:45):
little bit different. It's it's gonna be kind of still
one of those things where you're getting Breeze Hall from
chunk yards or you're using him. Maybe it doesn't look like,
you know, ten yards per rush something crazy. It's still
okay to get four yards on first down with the run, right,
like like settle down, like play in within the structure
of what the offense is trying to do. With Nathaniel

(50:06):
Hackett trying to figure out how to play within that structure.
Don't try to go you know, crazy, just go within
that structure. Because there's that the passing defense specifically has
some holes and I know Nathaniel Hackett can exploit them.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
I think that's a great point.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
And you know, I wanted to end this podcast with
a little bit of fun here because John, you know,
Polano and I made a little day trip down to
Philly a couple of weekends ago and we did a
little bit of a cheese steak review, which you can
that's a teaser of what's coming out this week for
a video.

Speaker 7 (50:41):
But Followthenberg on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (50:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, plug it up. Cynthia, What is your take?

Speaker 4 (50:47):
Do you not have your own? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (50:49):
But I don't have any cheese steaks online. You want
to check out the Ethan Greenberg.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
Says, I think Cynthia's trying to Cynthia's trying to be
nice because she she sent you astray earlier in the Podcas,
you can't make.

Speaker 7 (51:01):
Up for it.

Speaker 4 (51:02):
They make fun of each other.

Speaker 2 (51:04):
You're right, You're right. It was great.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
That's basically like that's how you know you're made on
the podcast, you know what I mean. It's like when
you're Italian, you need to be to be made. You
got to be made fun of on the podcast in
order to be welcome. So with that being said, what's
your take on a cheese steak? Are you going whiz?
Please tell me you're going wiz. You're definitely not.

Speaker 2 (51:24):
Going whiz cheese steak?

Speaker 3 (51:27):
So when I was in Philadelphia actually doing Jets preseason,
like a number of years ago, I tried like four
different ones, and I kind of liked all of if
I'm honest with you, but for different reasons.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
So what's the place called?

Speaker 3 (51:40):
Like the market, like you go into the thing terminal market, Yeah,
terminal market.

Speaker 4 (51:45):
And I just liked it all. So I'm not your
best answer because I was like, sure, my answer is.

Speaker 2 (51:51):
Yes, it's hard cheese steak.

Speaker 4 (51:55):
Like it's cheese and meat and bread. You're good. What's wrong? Nothing?

Speaker 2 (52:02):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (52:03):
So similar to pizza, Like, what's the most important part
of a pizza?

Speaker 2 (52:06):
Is it the sauce, the dough, the cheese?

Speaker 1 (52:08):
Is it for you, Cynthia, the steak, the cheese or
the sub or the HOGI whatever you want to call it?

Speaker 4 (52:16):
Cheese?

Speaker 2 (52:17):
I think the cheese.

Speaker 5 (52:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (52:19):
I just feel like if it's not right with that,
it can, like it really can change the taste of
the meat and the bread, you know, like you mean
like yeah, cheese was just too much or not right.
But I feel like the other ones, like again, they're
all important. It's all it's about like the the you know,
the sum of the parts, not the individual pieces.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
All right, Well, that's a lovely way to end this
week's episode of the Game Preview podcast.

Speaker 4 (52:44):
Come pizza is better New York Pizza, greater than greater
than cheese sikes. Just what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (52:52):
You know, terrible l A is the worst pizza of
anywhere in America.

Speaker 1 (52:56):
But not true that pizza that is the home of
the New York Pizza department in Tampa Bay. That's a
story for another time. And uh, that is how we
closed out the Game Preview Podcasts presented by LifeLock Jets
Eagles week six at MetLife in the four o'clock hour.
Cynthia will run it back in two weeks because the
Jesseph bye week.

Speaker 4 (53:14):
Next week, have John, You're gonna what are you gonna
do with amas?

Speaker 5 (53:18):
John?

Speaker 2 (53:18):
That's a good question.

Speaker 7 (53:19):
I'll have to regroup.

Speaker 2 (53:21):
Yeah, get a steak, take a breather. He's going back
to Rockchester.

Speaker 8 (53:26):
Rock check out with the Jefferson's get a garbage play garbage.

Speaker 7 (53:30):
Yeah with Cynthia, that's just dumbfounds me how you've never
had one.

Speaker 1 (53:33):
Well, she'll have one next year. We'll make sure to
get some New York pizza in the moment.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
And I just went New York. Now, I want a pizza, okay,
and there's.

Speaker 3 (53:41):
No there's no satisfying There are literally no satisfying pizza
out here.

Speaker 4 (53:45):
Yeah. I gotta figure it out. I gotta figure it out.
I gotta come east.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
I need pizza, pizza, she needs her cards. I'm angry.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
Do it up.
