Speaker 1 (00:01):
Wow, Jordan and Jake.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I go good, I'm excited, ready to go the home stops.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
He throws at a crossfield. Guess who, Jeorge Grouse. Here
are your Panther Hall of Honor members, Jordan Gross and
Jake Delome.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Jordan Gross here, Jake Delom, you're here right, yes, sir,
I am here, okay? So that means we can happen
to Jordan Jake podcast coming off to buy, Recharged, refreshed.
It seems like it's been a while since we played,
but to Germany. Well, you and I didn't. The team did,
got the win, back to back to buy and now Jake.

(00:41):
As I logged onto my computer to get ready for
our podcast today, I see that a pair of Panther
legends were among the twenty five semi finalists for the
Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty five.
Luke Keigley and Steve Smith.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Your thoughts, well, I don't need to say a whole
lot about Steve.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I think I think he should have been in already. Biased. Yes,
but I just I watched it with my own two eyes.
I think Steve should already be in.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I'm hopeful that people will truly look at everything, and
and and I don't know, I just I'm I'm unbelievably
biased when when it comes to Steve and many guys
I've played with that have went on to other teams
that were with some of these other guys that are eligible.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
When I say guys the receivers, because there's.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Kind of a little glut of them there, well whatever, whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Steve Smith, hinz Ward, Reggie Wayne.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, there's just a there's kind of just this you know,
football players there, and you.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Know, I just I'm very biased when it comes to
Steve in that regard.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
That Luke's gonna be on the Patrick Willis path, right, Well,
they're like twins.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
They're like twins, and really it's identical the years they
played the All Pros.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
It's not exactly identical.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
It's close exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I think I think Luke has one extra All Pro
and Luke is the defensive Defensive Player of the.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Year, So maybe that bumps him up a year.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I think it does.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
He could be first ballot. Like, it wouldn't shock me
if he was first ballot, but that would put maybe
they put Steve in this year Luke next year. That'd
be sweet.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, I'm not exactly sure that whole thought, that whole process.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Man, I think is Darren Gant a voter for the
whole thing? OK?

Speaker 2 (02:39):
So I know it's a very thorough process, and uh,
the presenters do a fabulous job of presenting their cases,
and so listen.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
I think Luke is one. I really truly believe Luke's
the first ballot. I think everyone knows in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
And the difference I think one of the main differences
with Luke and and and Steve is that Luke was
on television probably a whole lot more than Steve due
to the success of the Panthers or the Cam Newton effect.
I mean, I'll call it what it is. It was
the Cam Newton effect. Cam was must see TV, right,

(03:18):
and the Panthers, you know, they started to kind of ascend,
and Luke was drafted I believe the year after Cam,
in twenty twelve, Cam was eleven, and so there was
a ton of prime time games and so the world
got to see this, you know, stunt of a linebacker
who came out early from Boston College, was an All
American in college, came out after three years.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
And just dominate. And you know, there's the videos of Luke.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I think that's another thing that's going in Luke's favor
is that you see all the clips, the NFL films,
the clips, and it's not only him miked up and
the other players, our players talking about him, but it's
the opposing team and the opposing quarterbacks. They're like, he
would call out our plays like verbatim. He knew every

(04:06):
single one of them. And I think that's something that
you know, everybody know he played here is new and
certainly Steve was the same way. But I just don't
think Steve had as much maybe exposure in the prime
time games, and hell that's probably due to me. You know,
I cam in the quarterback during that during that Cam's way,

(04:30):
and then you know what, I'm okay to admit it
because you know why, I like Cam Newton. Cam Newton
and I friends proud to say with friends, he always
treated me with the utmost respect, my family, everything, and
so I'm a huge fan of.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Cam and he's way cooler than you. What has been fun?
So talking about these Hall of Famers, we got another
one in Julie Peppers. As you know those guys along
with Jonathan Stewart and Thomas Davis and John Beeson, they
all went over to Germany. And I know it's old information,
but just more content is trickled out, you know what
I mean over the last ten days or so of

(05:03):
that time over there. Man, they look like that a blast.
We've got to get on that. Next year. Jake like
second tier. So they rolled out like the top tier.
Then next year maybe it'll go to like the second tier.
If we could podcast from over there, that'd be sweet.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I'm all in listen.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
This year was at some family obligations, and I wouldn't
have traded that for the world. But yeah, it certainly
looked like they had a great time. I know the
time I spent in Germany playing there. Those fans really
enjoyed football.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
They loved football.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
And that was thirty almost, you know, thirty years ago,
twenty five years ago.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, it's a nineteen hundreds, that's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
And so just seeing the videos and the and and
the ticket request that was wanted, and for the Panthers
to go over and together get a win and got overtime.
It was a good game. It wasn't like it was
this blowout of a game. It was a good game.
Goes overtime, you know, and win it on a kick
by Eddie Piero.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Uh. This last weekend changing changing uh topics drastically. I
escorted one of my players on a unofficial visit to
University of Southern California. Went to the coliseum for the
first time. Nice venue, Jake, you've been there?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Nice? No, I have not never been there, never played
there or anything.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
So no, So that's good.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Uh. Yeah. I got to meet Lincoln Riley, who I
was impressed by and soak in some sun. Had a
dinner with old teammate Ryan Khalil, nice, who is putting
on muscle. He got like he did the typical lose weight,
you know, and he got kind of he got kind
of too thin and two week looking. I was teasing

(06:46):
him over you the last couple of years, and he
finally got back in the GM. Now his next all
thick and his muscles are big. He looks sweet.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I should have you, I should you should ask him
to send you a picture.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
That would be that'd be cool to see, you know,
the train transition from the all you know, I go
back to three of my offensive linemen that blocked for me.
You Ryan Khalil and Trevelle Wharton and how Finn each
one of you got after you finished playing.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Travell Wharton Baltimore, Raven's assistant, he's kind of he's it's
kind of blurry because he was assistant a line coach.
Then the headline coach passed away during training camp. Then
they brought in George Warhops, who's kind of co line
coach right now over there. But yes, hey, So back
to the Panthers. Last week, you said that if the

(07:34):
Chiefs win, then this will be a trap game for them,
and if they lose, it'll be a git right game
talking about them versus the Bills, which was an awesome
game last weekend. So they lost, So now you're saying
this is the get right game for the Carolina Panthers.
Let's talk our way through this thing.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
So yeah, Jordan, and I said that because that's exactly
how it was going to be portrayed in the media,
and that's how it's going to be looked upon. And
I'm doubling down on that because the last couple of days,
I've listened to a lot of I'm a big fan
of NFL radio. I love listening to a lot of
the guests I love when rich Gannon is on there.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Some of the other guys, just legitimate guys.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Alex Smith does an extremely good job, and then Jim
pat Kerwin and Jim Miller in the afternoon.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Sometimes if I'm out and about.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
I'll put it in I listen to him, and it's funny,
every single one of them.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Just just in passing.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
They talk about, you know that everybody was talking about
the Buffalo Bills and the Kansasity Chiefs game, and teams
are starting to separate, and they talk about Detroit and
the NFC, and yes, Kansas City got their first loss,
and and it's assumed that, oh they're getting their first
they're gonna go back on the on the winning streak
starting this week in Carolina. And so you just keep

(08:53):
hearing that over and over again, and that's all that's
being said. So they're not giving us a snowballs chance
in hell that we have an opportunity to go out,
play well and upset the Kansas City Chiefs. And you
know what, Jordan, as a former player or somebody and
in that if I would be in that space, I
would love it because it would just mean that, you know,

(09:15):
we don't have a chance what is that preparation like
this week or do they take us likely? Do they
prepare not as much? And you say that you don't
know what guys do and don't do. But it's just
that kind of mindset while we're playing the three win
Panther team and and we're gonna get get right against them.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
I just believe that, Jordan.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I think that's a human nature element that plays out
every year in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
You got to think though, that the Panthers are excited
about this one right. It's I like the matchup because
you're coming off of your by and you've got the
premier team. Before we started recording, you said, is Taylor
Swift gonna be there? That's like something to discuss every
time the Chiefs play, You know what I mean? Are
they gonna are there? Gonna be a sweet shot of
having her up there cheering for her boyfriend every time

(10:03):
he touches the ball. So there's so much hype around
this team. I like, I liked that we're playing the
Man and Bank of America. Fans are excited. There's been
some winning happening, and everybody's rooting for Bryce Jake right
like he's been under criticism and fire this year and
he got They went with Dalton for a couple of
weeks and now he's back. And to see him smiling
and winning and throwing the ball down on the field

(10:24):
and using his feet, Like, who doesn't want that in
the Panther front office, on the Panther fan base, aren't right, Jake,
Like everybody would love for Bryce to be who we
all know he can be.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Yeah, Jordan, there's no doubt.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
And I think you see it with his teammates and
with the team and how they react towards him and
the things that are said about him. I mean, listen,
the kid, take the quarterback out of it. He's a
great kid. I mean, just super respectful to everyone, just fun.
He's fun to be around. The players obviously that they
enjoy him. And you're seeing the same thing play out

(10:59):
this year, Jordan. With Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.
It's you know, Jane Daniels is playing extremely well, and
now bow Nicks is really playing well, and then Drake
May is starting to play and I'm hearing this week,
Oh you know, Cayleb Williams is the fourth best quarterback
in the class and it's just we want to just
right right off these kids right away, and it's so hard.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
This game is so hard.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I keep saying that there's thirty two quarterbacks in the world.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
It's one of thirty two. It's a difficult process and
it takes time.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
And you know, I'm anxious to see Brice to go
up against a Kansas City defense. I think this is
a top five defense. They will come from all over
the place. They're gonna challenge our protection schemes. They're going
to blints, They're gonna play up man the man on us.
So I'm anxious to see what do we do, how
do we prepare? This is another great opportunity. Maybe Adam
Thielham is back on the field to go along with

(11:52):
the young kids that we have at receiver and tidy
end for ust.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Does Jonathan Brooks make his debut this week?

Speaker 2 (11:59):
So I don't know, man, I'm just excited for the opportunity.
Dj Wanams he had a huge effect on the game
two weeks ago, and I'm sure he was really sore,
haven't played it over a year. But he got that
extra week in between to get right. And we're getting
some players back. There was maybe a pitch count for
Jordan Fuller. So, man, I'm like you, I just how

(12:20):
great is it you get to play against the world champs.
You're feeling good about yourself, You're coming off a couple
of wins, you have a bye, you had the week off.
Your body should be somewhat recharged. The mind should be recharged. Man,
let's strap it up and let's go. Let's go play.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
You mentioned Jonathan Brooks, though you know Cuba is not
too bad. He's been running incredibly well. So like, what
would the hype be around Jonathan Brooks? Like a couple carries? Maybe,
you know, I'm not downplaying the significance of getting him healthy,
but there's probably not a giant role.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Well yeah, I agree with that. But like Miles Sanders.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
You know, Miles had a I believe an ankle, our
foot injury, whatever it may be when he got caughted off.
So files would come in and he would get a
couple of carries, he'd get some screens and things like that.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
I'm anxious to see that now, Tuba. So I will
say this, Jordan.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Monday night, I went back and I rewatched the coaching
copy of the Giants game in Germany. And just wanted
to rewatch it again and dive into it a little
bit deeper. Tell you what, Tuba Howard running through tackles,
making guys miss getting into the second level, watching the
offensive line, and I don't want to We can call

(13:34):
out all the guys, Listen, they're playing great upfront.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
But I'll tell you this.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
For Kade Mays to be on another team on somebody's
practice squad, to bring him in and to come in
and the task he had and trying to help block
Dexter Lawrence, that was.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
He did a great job.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
J and I we didn't to me, we didn't talk
about him enough last week.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
I thought he did an absolutely great job.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Uh, along with Hunt and big Lewis and certainly Brady
Christensen going to left tackle and take Timo and right tackle.
But man and Cuba, you know that there's a reason
he's having success running the ball. Yes, there's holes there,
but he's running through those holes. He's running with confidence.
So yeah, just a tip of the hat.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
And listen, did you Chris Jones, this guy's.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Like, he's not bad. Chris Jones is not bad? Well,
what do you do because Ikey's supposed to be getting
healthy too, right, and yeah, has been playing well, do
you Christianensen did a nice job, like it's kind of
do you mess with one two in a row? Do
you mess up a good thing? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Jake, Yeah, Jordan Nett, listen, that's a that's something the
coaches can figure out. I think Ikey was playing pretty well,
to be honest, especially you know, Ikey's run blocking some
special to watch in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
You know, Brady can be that swing guy. I think
body type WI.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I think Cade looks maybe more like a sinner body
top wall wise, to go along with the other two
big bodies that we have inside. So yeah, that's something
that coach Canalis and coach Gilbert gonna have to decide from.
But as we record this on Wednesday, maybe we'll get
shed some light as the week goes on on exactly

(15:18):
you know how they're gonna play out.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
What do you think the significance of feeling potentially being
back from the hamstring is, and especially with Bryce Young
who last year at least loved to throw them the ball.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, listen, I think Adam feeling on the field at
any time is a good thing for us, just the
way he plays and the tenacity he brings, the mindset
that he brings. Yeah, I think it's just a positive
for us. Listen, his last play was a touchdown catch
down the right scene against the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
That was a catch. It's one of the catches of
the year.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
How fabulous it was full body extension to be able
to hold that catch in.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
No, it would be extremely if nothing else. If he's
just in uniform and you know you got him out there,
you get in the huddle a couple times, you know
what I mean, Jake like that, that's a huge boost.
Before we wrap up, have you watched the Greg Olsen
Kart Talk episode with JJ Jansen yet?

Speaker 3 (16:15):
A matter of fact, Jordan, I watched it last night.
I sure did.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Those are so fun, man. I think JJ does an
excellent job that the production team with setting the golf
cart up with all the cameras and everything, and then
have Olsen back in house talking about his youth football.
I love he said before he starts all his production meetings,
he just at the coaches on the other like Dan
Campbell or whoever ask about his middle school football team.
They want to see film. That's incredible.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
I think it's awesome and you know what those guys
and Greg mentioned it in the court talk about Hey,
I don't know if they're just trying to appease me.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
No, they're not.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Those guys have been working these eighteen to twenty hour
days all week long.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
This is just something a little different.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
And if they can see, because every football coach played
pee wee football or junior high football, you want to
see there's something pure and special about that. But how
about those kids, Luke Stu, Greg, Greg's dad, I mean,
the coaching staff on that team.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
How about that? I mean what if I mean, what
if you had that? How great is that?

Speaker 1 (17:16):
No? It is fun to watch from I don't know
how Olsen has the time and energy to do all
the things he does. Jake like every weekend, traveling all around,
prepping for the games, coaching. He's like a superhero. He
has always been incredibly high energy. Though I don't know
if you've been around him very much, but it's ridiculous
the amount of energy he has.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Well, I listen, I was around him some his last
year or so when I started I'm at him.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Along the way and then started doing the radio.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
So it was coach Rivera's last year, which gosh, I
think that was Greg's from what I remember nineteen unless
I'm off a year last year in Carolina and just yeah,
it was.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
It was pretty comical.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
I'd sit at breakfast or something off to the side
he would just talk and him and JJ and that
bunch and Luke and Christian.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah, so that was awesome to see.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
And yeah, very good guy in my opinion, If not
the top broadcaster in football, I'm not so sure that's
much better than him.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Well, he had took a pay cut this year. And
that's something for another time to discuss Jake. That's about
that's not only talking about on Jordan and Jake. All right,
are you calling this game?

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Yes, sir, I'm excited back to Charlotte. Yeah, there's gonna
be great. Look Crisp in the air, looking forward to it.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Man, text me if you see Taylor Swift because I
heard she likes to go to Chiefs games.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Well, I don't want to say this, but supposedly I
think she wants to call the game with me. Well,
she's I was told that because Luke's now a semi
finalist for the Hall of Fame and he's not sure
if he's gonna be able to do this anymore, you know,
because you know he's he's now you know, on a
on another category. I guess you could say, I think

(18:55):
she thinks she wants to come do some some Playboy
play color with it.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
He's going to be big time in the booth too.
He won't even talk to you anymore.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
What am I gonna do? It's gonna hurt my feelings.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
I know it shall be like I'm here with Hall
of Fame semi finalists Luke, Keikley, and Jake.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Yeah, that's all right, George, I'm used to it. I
can handle it, all right.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Well, good luck, have a one time. Let's get the win.
Why not three to back.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Back to back, keep pounding, let's go. And Luke broke
the drum. I don't know. I'm sure they did Germany.
I'm sure. I'm sure Luke replaced it.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
They're probably gonna have a video of him, you know,
putting a whole new drum back together.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
He did it.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
You know you can do it. He's a he's an
NFL Hall of Fame semi finalist. So the sky's the limit, alright,
