Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, Jordan and Jake, I'll go good.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm excited, ready to go the bump stops.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
He throws at a crossfield. Guess who, George Gross.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
Here are your Panther Hall of Honor members, Jordan Gross
and Jake Delome.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Jake Happy. First Fall podcast of the season. It's Fall.
I know it doesn't feel like that where you're at, Jake,
but September twenty second, rang it in and I want
you to know that. In true cheesy head coach fashion,
for a team meeting on the first day of Fall,
I made my team watch Kenny Chesney Boys of Fall
official music video. How do you feel about that?

Speaker 4 (00:41):
I love it, man, And you know what, I'm starting
to kind of feel the fall because it is miserable
hot down here and humid. But you know why, as
we're recording this on Wednesday morning, by the time Thursday
morning comes up, we are going to have our first
official cool front in South Louisiana.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
What is a cool front? Well, like ninety five.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
No, we're tomorrow the high is gonna be like eighty four.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
That's a cool front.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Yeah, because it's gonna be like sixty two, sixty three,
sixty four in the morning. So it's gonna feel glorious
for about three or four days, and then it's gonna
get back to a little bit, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
But we're starting it is turned. We kind of feel it.
We feel it turning.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
We got leave change in here now.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
No, no, we're still We're still cutting grass, green lush.
There's no leave changing anytime soon.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Here. After I watched I made my team watch that video,
and they liked it. You know, it's a good video.
Then I tried to work in and see if they
noticed lyrics from the song into just my random talking.
I do the team like, hey, guys, they don't just
let anybody in this club. Okay, you mess with one

(01:56):
of us, you get us all. And some of them
they picked up on, but others not. That's what's fun
about being me right now.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
There's no doubt. Well, how was the game Friday night?
You were coming off a box? Got okay? Oh did
you have to break? Did you have to break any
type of no computer, tablet or any white board?

Speaker 3 (02:16):
That have to Okayode just praise like crazy. The other team, though,
did It was their homecoming and they had played fireworks
for immediately after, so it was a little bit interesting.
Because we won and then there was fireworks and so
our team had a lot of fun with that.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Did you use the whole They don't. They just respect you.
You're their homecoming.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
You gotta go that one every time. You can do
it every time, Jake. It's like in the pros there
have chose this game to retire his jersey and honor him.
They think that we're going to be There's always some
way you're being mistreated, you know what I mean. Sure
they didn't have the respect to schedule us for their
home cut. Wait, no, that doesn't work. Never mind, Now

(03:02):
it's going good.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I looked us up.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
We're ranked three and eighty nine nationally. Just so you know,
I love that straps I love. Okay, Hey, speaking of fall,
I have to tell you a story about my one
of my best friends growing up. His name's Chad. His
son is a sophomore outside linebacker on our team. Good player,

(03:25):
fast kid. Well dad, we were hanging out this weekend
and dad named Chad says, I think I can beat
Cooper his son in a race. And I said, Chad,
don't do it. You're forty five. I'm telling you. You
never sprint like he's active. You know I'm doing air
quotes right now. He's an active dad, strong guy. List waits.

(03:46):
I said, you're going to pull your hamstring. No, I
can do it because Chad, back in the nineteen hundreds
was when we were in high school, was very fast,
right track guy. He said, Chad, you're going to pull
your hamstring. I want to do it. So it comes
to p yesterday chat and Chad says, Coop, we're racing
after practice. We're all out there watching my youth football

(04:07):
teams get ready to start their practice. How far are
we going? What do you think? He says, Jake, forty
yards forty yard dash? And I said, Chad, that's a
bad idea. You want a twenty Nope? Forty All right,
here we go on your mark, Get set go. The
guy didn't make it twenty five yards.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
I was going to say twenty seven. I was going
to say it. Twenty seven yards is when he started
to hamstring.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Lock up. The man down. He falls and this is
a good looking forty five year old man. But Jake,
this is what happens. We think we're better than we are,
and then you race your kid and you fall down,
and it's just I'm not I don't like the whole thing, Jake,
I don't like the whole thing. Oh man, did you
have it?

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Do you have it on video?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Possibly?

Speaker 1 (04:55):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
It may have been shown to the team. Anyways, you
went into a game and the Panthers went thirty and one,
thirty to nothing. It appears that had to have been fun.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
It was fun. And you know, Jordan, I tell you
why I knew we were going.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
To win one because I just felt we were a
better team than we showed and we put ourselves in
a buying And two, I think our defense is going
to be okay. And three is when I got to
the stadium. Did not speak to Luke Pryor. I mean
talk to him during the week a little bit, but
nothing about what attire I was wearing. Did not skip

(05:33):
Jonathan Stewart about the attire and.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Everyone knows what you're wearing. Well, Luke and I we.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Wear a panther polo and stuff like that. I mean
that's kind of we're professional.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
And like you well, yeah, like last week you were like,
you want me to get them to have them get
you a panther polo. I'm like, is it required? No,
I'm like, well, what are you doing well.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Just we representing the Panthers, Jordan, I just think that anyway.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
So we get there and Luke shows up and I'm
already there and he and I have the same exact
Panther Polo did not speak to each other about it. Yes, yes,
walk into the broadcast broadcast room to see d l
Zokie Aniche and all the boys. Stuie's in there, same

(06:20):
exact shirt as Luke and I.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Yes, we knew he was over. You feel like that
had a direct on the game.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
It did because as bad as we wanted them, the
Panthers to get a win, especially week one at home,
for our crowd to get the twenty five season going,
we just knew it.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
There was no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
So like like in the locker room, it was probably
flat before the game until somebody saw you guys on
the pregame on the field and like, hey guys, Rice
Young gathered up the team. Well they.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Fotage and all have the same pole. Hello on we
gotta do this for them. Let's go, and they're all
like ah. Then they play the Boys.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Of Fall well run out.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
They did not.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
It was in the tunnel before the offense was introduced
and they're not going to show this video. I have
it because it's this top secret. That's exactly what Bryce said.
And when he finished, he said, we're doing it for them.
He goes get the smoke going, and the smoke machine
started and they introduced the offense.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
I'm just saying, yeah, well, so now you should just
wear the same dang shirt next week.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
That will let's just say, probably in the works.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Other than Polo's matching. What was the deal, Jake? Why
did give me your rundown? Because it was awesome, very simple.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
We did not turn I think one we were fed
up at the team. Two, we didn't turn the ball
over on offense. We did have the one misshap on
special teams. And three, I just believe our defense week
one week week one, you can just tell it's like
we aren't there yet. From the preseason, it just it
wasn't happening well against Arizona. Our defense played pretty darn

(08:06):
good spot in Arizona ten points early on. We played
pretty darn good and we came out and our defense
played attacked numerous different players physical play.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
And yes, you can single out a bunch of.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Players, but Derek Brown, I'm just telling you this guy
is just different. We we know how great he was
in twenty three, broke the all time record for solo
tackles by interior d linemen and to miss him last year.
This guy is just he's different, man, He's just different.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Played great. H you know.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Morig, you know a Shawn's in there, the young both
young defensive ends. I just I don't know JC making plays,
Shaw Smith away, Mike, we're making plays guy Lathan Ransom
calls to fumble on the punch out at the end.
You're just kind of seeing it and we just built
off of it. I think that was the biggest thing.

(09:02):
We built off of it. Offense. I think we left
some points on the board, and I think offense will
say the same thing.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
We did some good things. We stuck with the run game,
which I loved. That's something that I loved. I think
we need to stick with that this week.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Although New England has done well stopping the run, I
just don't think they've faced true running teams yet to
be very honest. So that's what it was, Jordan, was
a complimentary game. You felt the crowd and we can
all say we haven't felt this in years. I know
ever since almost I've started doing the radio. Maybe the
first year in nineteen, which was Wrivera's last year, might

(09:39):
have had a game or two early on.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
But this is what stuck out to me.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Between the third and the fourth quarter, we had the
football and the quarter ends and we have to.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Swap sides of the field.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
The whole stand stood up and just started cheering, and
it was like, okay, like they appreciated what they saw.
Let's hopefully we can build on this going on forward.
That that stuck out.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
To me last week was anybody in the crowd, we're
in your Saint Polo.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
You know, I'm not sure, I'm so confident concentrating so
much of the game. I apologize.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
No, that's what you got to do. Though, you know,
you and I are in Arizona and it's like, gosh,
you know they finished strong. Okay, now we're going back
home against Atlanta, which usually travels well and all that,
and then you just stomp them. The energy injected into
the Panther Nation has got to be sky high because
not only you didn't just win, but it's like a

(10:32):
significant win. Booshy up in the power rank Like the
power rankings don't matter but that's what all the you know,
fans watch all that stuff. All right. Now we're twenty one.
Now we're one and two, and the you know, we're
one and two. The NFC South is wide open. We
stuff Tampa, Tampa Bay's looking good at three and oh
but we're ahead of Atlanta New Orleans. Like just so
many things are cured. Jake with a significant home win

(10:55):
and a shutout like that is dang near impossible in
the NFL. I don't know what the statistics are, but
like to have a shutout that barely ever happens, Jake.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
No, it does, and I want to say we talked
about it during the broadcast. Maybe against Detroit in twenty
twenty was the last shutout that the Panthers had, So yeah,
that's few and far between, is very rare.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
But yeah, just proud of the effort, certainly, never not
proud of the effort.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
I mean, I think our guys play hard, but you
just you sensed it and you felt it, and it
was interesting.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
We kind of talked to it.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Derek Brown was our player interview right after the game,
and in essence, it wasn't celebratory for him. He was like, hey,
that's one week, okay, like we've got to do it
again next week. I think fed up And that word
has been brought up. All those two words have been
brought up. But you heard it from the team leader.
I mean when we getting off the bus, we want

(11:53):
Derek Brown walking off the bus first. I mean, they's
a guy I think we need to follow. And it's
like enough's enough and Dan has listened.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Guys that Dan signed, like you just you felt it.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
You felt number seven all over the field, trem Morrick,
you just you felt his presence. You felt some of
the young, you know, players like Nick Scord.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
It's a motor. It's a motor that doesn't stop, you know,
Princely long Lengthy starting to gain more confidence. You just
you felt some of the young guys and some of
the free agents that we signed. And listen, I don't
know when.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Turk Warton's gonna be able to come back, but the
effort and intensity that he plays with to add to
this mix. Whenever he's able to come back, hopefully it's soon,
sooner rather than later.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
You know, I think it's good for us.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I've heard some online chatter, read some I should say
about is this like twenty thirteen. That was my last
season a number of years ago. But on that team,
we had a third year Cam Newton, We had a
really good defense, we had some talented players on offense,
and we found ourselves at one and three and just
pissed to be to be frank, we went to Minnesota

(12:59):
and had our enough is enough moment as a team
and beat Minnesota and then went on a run end
up being twelve and four. Now, I don't know that
that's like what we can expect here, but when you said,
like fed up, Jake, that's that's how we were in
twenty thirteen. And to see it come to fruition this
week and man, momentum is a good thing and we

(13:19):
look ahead, Jake, I know we got New England this week.
They're one and two, Miami's oh and three, Dallas is
one and two, and the Jets are they're zero and three.
I believe right, So like, yeah, there's winnable games the
next four games, Jake.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
No, this certainly is.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Now we're gonna have to trap it up this week.
This team should have two wins. I mean, like they.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Gave it to Pittsburgh last week.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
I mean the turnovers they had turnovers inside the five
yard line.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
They just I don't know.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Week one, they lost twenty to thirteen to the Raiders.
They just weren't they weren't smooth, you know. And they
beat Miami which was which was the entertaining game. And
then last week got home against the Steelers. They feel
like they let one slide because of the turnovers, turnovers,
and then that's gonna be every week in the NFL,

(14:13):
and that's something the bugaboo with us the first two weeks.
We won the battle last week and obviously the scoreboard
looked the way it did.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
But it's going to be a tough matchup. Well are
you traveling to this game? I am not.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
This is my first game that that I have off.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
So ill you don't get to go stay hi to
Rabel and talk about two thousand and three.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Uh no, Jordan, I mean, why would I do that.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I the Patriots are a funny organization in relation to
Carolina Panthers, because there's obviously significant history that you and
I were both a part of, but not a real
common opponent. And fact for you, here the only stadium
I never played in, really I missed the only time
in my eleven year career. That the Panthers traveled to

(15:01):
New England was the year that I broke my leg.
So I've been there. I went there as a part
of the radio broadcast in fourteen, I believe, but only
state I've ever played. It. Not a real common opponent
that we come across very often. But as I said,
a lot of Panther fans do know that there's some
serious history.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Yeah, big history. Certainly it's the Super Bowl, and you know,
I go back to it. You and I had a
good laugh about it. In Arizona. We played them in August,
the second game of the preseason, second or third after
the super Bowl, and it was like a regular season game,
you know, whatever reason. We had an ash, they had

(15:40):
an edge, and the starters played through halftime and it
felt like a regular season game. And you have a
great story that you probably can't stay on air about
you and Rabel at halftime or during the game when
he might might have taken a shot at you. But yeah,
it's a And then we beat them in two thousand
and five in Carolina with we got after Brady. I

(16:04):
can remember that game. Our defense played lights out. It
was Week two or three, early in the season. We
got after him.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
The stadium was rocking and we were able to win.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
And so yeah, it's we have a little bit of history.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
You could say this is random, but I want to
bring it up. There's an NFL game this weekend in Dublin, Ireland.
I feel like if the I mean Frankfurt was awesome
when the Panthers went there, I got watched it from distance.
I gotta go catch one of the next time the
Panthers go international, Jake, we got to go catch this thing.
And maybe we work it, maybe we don't. But how

(16:37):
cool to go play a game in Dublin, Ireland, can
you imagine? I mean, I'm stereotyping what I believe Ireland
to be as far as consumption of beer. But how
many pints are going to be consumed on that day?

Speaker 1 (16:51):
I'm sure a great amount.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
And from talking to all the Panther contingent that went
to Germany last year, they absolutely loved it, everything about it.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
They loved everything just and the fans.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
And I'm very partial to going play overseas, playing in
NFL Europe, those fans they bring it. It's a different
type of energy, the singing and things of that nature
that they do during the course of the game. It
is an awesome atmosphere, but I was so disappointed.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I shouldn't say that.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
I just couldn't make it last year due to family obligations.
But from here on out, you know, ifever we get
a chance to do that again. Man, I'm looking forward
to it.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Is there any rhyme or reason too? And I don't know.
I could do a quick Internet search and find this information,
But since I'm talking to you and nobody's listening, is
there any rhyme or reason too? When you go play
in Europe? Do you know?

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Well?

Speaker 4 (17:49):
I think some teams maybe have I'm a Jacksonville win
a decent they have gone a decent amount. And I
don't know if some of that was some fantasy nints
of things of that nature. I'm not exactly sure, to
be very honest.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Well, maybe I'll find out next week, or I'll forget
won't bring it back up. One or the other will happen.
Last thing I got for you, Jake, The Hall of
Fame class of one hundred and twenty eight has been
released and for one more year. Jake, Congratulations, you and
I are both amongst the one hundred and twenty eight.

(18:26):
That is awesome.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
I'm glad you told me I need to call start
getting fitted from my gold jacket.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
I mean, that's pretty cool. In a fade away, Jake,
I got news for you. You're not making it, and
neither am I. But someday we're going to be not
on the nominee list and that's going to be a
sad day. But for now we can enjoy it one
day further amongst other Panthers. Luke Eakley he'll be an

(18:54):
automatic finalist because he was in the final seven last year.
Steve Smith he'll be he was a finalist last year
as well. We always talk about those two, which I
want to But now you got Greg Olsen TD, first
time nominees, Ryan Khalil, five time pro bowler, three time
All Pro. That's Hall of Fame career right there, A

(19:16):
great friend. Jake Delone, Jordan Gross, Wesley Walls, Missin Muhammad,
John Casey, Peanut, Charles Peanut, Tillman, Eric Metcalf, Linebacker Lee Woodhall.
Are all the ones who panther tized. What do you think?

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, honored Humboldt, I mean that.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Is not about you. I'm talking about the last You're
I want to know about the last.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
Come on, yeah, listen, Luke, I truly believe he gets in.
I was honestly shocked he didn't get in last year.
To be very honest, I can't understand why. But if
it is what it is, I think he gets in
this year.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Steve.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
You know, yeah, I've always said, I've talked that nauseam.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
How I feel about that.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
I'm worried in a way because Larry Fitzgerald is another
one that comes up. It's another kind of long jam
at that spot. So I don't know how that's gonna
play itself out. To be honest, with Reggie, Wayne, Tory, Holt,
Smitty and now Fitzgerald to the bunch. Yeah, I don't
know if that she's gonna be a timing issue there.
So you know, I would love to see you know,

(20:26):
Greg and TD and certainly Ryan. Ryan's got credentials. But
we'll see. But I feel good about Luke, man, I
really do.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
The best thing about Luke is last year, after he
didn't get in, I called him. I'm like, eh, you know, sorry,
but I think he'll be okay. He's like, yeah, honestly,
it would have really messed up some plans I had
in August. If I would have got yea, that sounds
just like him. If he does get in, are you
gonna wear the same polo that he's wearing? It is
acceptance speech?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
If that's what.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
If he tells me what he's gonna wear to that,
then I promise you I would yes.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
All right. Well, and Joey, what are you gonna do
with the weekend off?

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Well, I'll be here, man. It's a lot of things
I'm gonna do.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
I enjoying the cool weather.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Yeah, it's gonna be beautiful.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
I'll probably go to high school game, catch that my
high school, the Turlings Catholic Rebels. And I'll probably catch
one of my college games. I can only catch a
few this year. This will be one of them. So
do that, and then I'll be buttoned up watching the
Panthers at twelve Central, one o'clock Eastern on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Muted with radio broadcast.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
That's one hundred percent. That's exactly how I do it.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
All right, Well, have fun, man, I'll talk to you
next week, I think and two and two it's doable.
Let's go for it, man, how nice would that feel
a two week swing?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Yeah, let's build on the momentum, and then we get
to come back home. Let's I agree. I just I
feel confident. Hopefully we have a good week of practice preparation.
I think we all know. I mean, you prepare, you
get ready to play and go strap it all.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
You messed with one man. You got us all the
boys a fault Jake
