Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
This is media Mash, a roundtable of Cowboys insiders, trumping
wisdom and offering sizzling takes on the current state of
your Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Now your host New East scrugs. It is that time,
media Ash.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
It is a Wednesday as Dallas Cowboys head towards Charlotte,
North Carolina to take on the two and three Panthers,
and Cowboys are two to two and one. Dallas has
one of the last three meetings against the Panthers. Last
meeting December fifteenth last year. Thirty for the Cowboys, fourteen
for the Carolina Panthers. Today, in the locker room, I
(00:47):
decided to go ahead and be Clark. No, yes, get
teen team. Oh we had to go ahead. I mean
conco see everybody buckle up. They they know. The only
thing Frico need to say is I am him. No
just he need to just like Jesus, I am. I
am the NFC offensive player of the week.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
So yes.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I talked to Kenny Clark, I talked to Osa Digge Zoo,
I talked to Sam Williams. I talked to Solomon Thomas.
I love the pause from Solomon.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
I don't think he knew what you we talking about.
If I'm being honest, he knew, you know, he didn't
play with him.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
So he paused. Osa also paused. Sam kind of laughed
about it.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Because they yes, Nick has been talked about.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
It's been talked about, and they know, I mean, Shoty
Shotty came out earlier this week. Shotty mentioned, so they know.
I mean, so in this part we understand. I mean,
this is a social media team, right, I mean, I mean,
and if they didn't know, Trayvon Diggs, let him know,
somebody in their family, somebody, let you know. You can't
(01:53):
have that happen like that. Then if we're just gonna
be the first ones to bring it to you, they know.
And yeah, I wanted to hear what they had to say,
and so Solomon because then I came back to him
again because I'm like, oh, you took you took a
you took a little breath and like a little let
me choose. Don't let me say what I want to
say right now. But they know, man, they know is good.
(02:16):
Thank you, Rico Dale.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I think it's funny, man, Rico data.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
I mean, let's gets the people up. Twenty three for
two oh six and a TV last week against the Dolphins,
against the Doves twenty six, I'm sorry, twenty eight for
eighty three in the first four weeks of the season,
so you know.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Spot opened up.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
Hubbard went to IR so he finally got those consistent carries,
he said all he said all last year. He's like,
once I get consistent carries, I can the production will
come with it. We saw that on the back half
of the season last year with the with Dallas.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
But no, I thought it was said like in jest.
I don't think it was said it was.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
It was like, y'all let me go, y'all didn't want
to pay me, bucket up, fellas run through.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
And I don't think it was that. I really don't
think it was that. This is a guy who wanted
to go back home. He had the opportunity to and
he did.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Okay, so he had opportunity because they said, kick rocks,
we ain't paying you that.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Much, so that there could be a little bit of
that in there. Don't get me wrong, but the quote
was are you excited to go play against dllas next week?
He's like, yeah, you know, I love those guys. Those
guys know what it is. They better buckle up. I
would say the same thing if I was playing you
Knew Me next week, and I got a lot of
love for you KNEWI.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
And so this is the beauty of doing the players lounge.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, Bury Church, Tray Moore and Anthony your set and
they were all like oh no, oh no, I'm just
plashing like you're gonna go say that, And then they
Dorset talked about the time when Jamal Lewis was on
that run for two thousand yards and they were coming
out to Oakland. He's like, oh, we were all like,
you're not about to You're not breaking a record on us,
not in our house.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
So they went through it. All three went through.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Like the scenarios of like why no, this is why
except we gonna hold them up. I mean, we're putting
in extra time this week since you have something to say.
The personal pride of like you're not going to do
this to me.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Let me tell you, Nickolas gonna happen every time he
touched the ball, Every time you run the ball, time
you get tacked, bug up, young fellow.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Every time he cared about or its or the seat
belt seatbelt?
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yes, so so. I mean even Kenny Clark was like
he started choosing his words. He got to come through us.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
They ain't.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
No, they it's been I mean, look any first off,
you're not a good coach if he ain't got it
got film room? Oh oh you ready? You can bring
us some seatbelt. I mean, dude, I'm bringing out about
seatbelt and everybody lock on Friday.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
I mean, why do we have See this is a
good conversation, Nick, Why do we have seven hundred and
fifty to fifty different religions because we got seven hundred
and fifty different.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Rights of the Bible.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Right, That's why we got Baptist Church, and then Greater
Baptist Church, right, then Greater Greater Baptist Church, Methodist and
the Living. Everybody said, I agree with you, I'm for
the branch. Off started my own interpretation. All my people
rolling with me. So you could say, hey, it's just friendly,
and US players will be like, Okay, it's gonna be
(05:12):
friendly when we bust his brain when we bring that
bike to him.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Maybe that's a touch.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
So when Calvin Watkins asked, oh so, DIGGI Zua, you
understand the emotions behind it. He's like, yeah, but you're
not gonna sit up here and disrespect me like that.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
I mean that you could.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Just tell there's they're leaving stuff out, Nick, They're leaving stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
It makes for a fun game, It does, because that's
what's gonna happen at the end of the day, and
the Rico gonna say I told you all to bucket
up after I put that one fit on you.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I said, what breest All did to you?
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Or they're gonna say, oh, you buckled up for twelve
for twenty two, okay doubt ful.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Look, first off, thank you ric O'Donell. I love it.
I love it. And of course me being you know,
we go team Petsy.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
We're coming. We're coming right for you. I mean you
had to master Instagram.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I mean, you know, I got to get it. I've
got to get it. I mean it was said, what
do you think I mean? Did your head coach? He
shot He wasn't even asked about it. Shoty offered it
this week, so I was like, Okay, he's starting to
grow with me. So so Shoty comes already know I
can't wait to see you, know, Shoty oh, I like
shot I'm starting to figure you know, I can't wait
to see Rico. Good player, you know, really like it.
(06:21):
But Rico, we'll be ready, we'll buckle up. So so
he's already like, hey man, goodness, you know I heard.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
What you said to don't worry. I let everybody know
Shoty is three. He's like, I know, we we two
two and one, but we still look down our nose
of Carolina. I needed something to make sure we were
had attention, attention of the Panthers this week. And I
don't have to have any doubt about whether my defensive
players have full attention on the Panthers this week.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Look and then well, good on, first off, good on,
good that Rico had that day. Good player, just not
a player I would have paid for any big, any
large sums of money.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
I mean, he's an average player, right right, But like
I said, he wasn't.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I was never with hey man, give him you know,
five six million, you know, no, we draft somebody or
do what you did with Javonta Williams. And so far,
guess what, it's working out great for jamont Williams. Oh yeah, Schottenheimer,
Clayton Adams, Connor Riley. They figured out how to get
the most out of this kid. He looks like he
did back when he was running with Tarhels. So good
for them.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
You know, there's a I think he's stirred in the
league in rushing fourth or fifth in attempts, which is
all good. Uh, And already I love these conversations to
pop up so quickly. And we're gonna pay him, We're
gonna get him done, We're gonna sign to a new deal.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Fans are trying to extend him right now.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
We can we just let it play out and we
just see what happened.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Let me ask, though, would Rico be having the same
type of success knowing his physicality kind of matches what
Javonte has, knowing his between the tackles ability kind of matches.
Speaker 6 (07:50):
No.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I was all about, where would you think he would be.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Understanding this run game scheme and how it's been so effective.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
I think what we saw at the Rico last year
was what he was. And if you'd have made him
the full time guy, maybe he gets one hundred and
seventy more yards.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
But I just thought he was just he was.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
One hundred and seventy more yards. He would have been
twelve fifty.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Okay, twelve fifty and just nice running back. You know,
I just didn't think he was He was not a
guy I would have invested long term dollars, that's all,
you know, if you were going to get him back
on on a team friendly deal, which he wasn't looking for,
you know, or you didn't have any other options. But
but I was looked at, you've done this, you won
(08:32):
seven games with him, Go get it back, you know,
that's all we're talking about, Ashton gent and looking at
other players. So there was a judgment. Who he liked
the kid from Wreston Henderson Henderson Okay, so there were
other guys. Hey man, let's turn thank you for your service.
Rego turned the page. If nobody signed him and you
could get him back one more time on a decent deal, yes,
(08:53):
but I thought he was looking for something more. They
weren't exactly sold on him. I had no issues with
him walking out of the door.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
So here's a question, and I don't think we know
the answer yet, although perhaps Nick has some insight. Is
this running game, let's say, over the next three years,
if they can keep this staff as currently comprised together,
is this running game going to be about the runner
or about the scheme. Meaning for a while, whoever Mike
Shanahan put there in Denver was going fifteen hundred yards
(09:22):
four point six, right, it didn't matter who you put
back there. So is this running game going to be
a scheme running game where as long as you got
a competent runner back there, he going to do his thing.
Or is it going to be, oh, we need to
have you whoever that special dude is to maximize the
running game.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
I don't want to take anything away from Javonte here
before I go into this, because he's top three in
the league and rush yards over expected. That has to
do with the type of runner that he has been.
But that game against the Jets shows you that it's
a scheme thing. Because you can put four different offensive
linemen up front, still run the same scheme, and still
be able to pay running lanes open for your runners.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
I think it's more of a scheme thing.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
Again, Notice credit to Javonte Williams because he's playing above
the standard.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
He really is.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
You ain't gotta apologize for it, man, It be what
it be.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Look, look, the Shanahan's scheme system is very good but
I would also say this, you find a special back
and you put him in the scheme, then you get
Terrell Davis. You know, you get a Hall of Fame performer.
But if not, can I get Alvin Morse?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
That's what I'm saying. Can I go to Alpren Morris
to have a guy who had a good year? Yes, yes,
he can have a really good running game like that.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
And so I always say, if it's the scheme and
not necessarily the player for different things that you're doing.
Even with San Francisco, with Shanahan out there, it's clearly
the scheme because whenever they put in that offense, it works.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
And then you see you get a Christian McCaffrey and
you take it up. So that's what the Cowboys have.
That's the question they have to answer for themselves at
some point time. Do we go get do we do
what Green Bay did where they invested in Josh Jacobs
and go get yourself I feel an elite runner and
then you can go there, or do you keep doing
this here Givonte's gone and you come back and you
(11:01):
just do something else with another guy. I would like
to think they would say, let's let's try to spend
a second at least a second day pick on them
back next year.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
At minimum, they.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
Only have one Day two pick next year right now,
as of right now, they could always trade back one
of those first round.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Picks, and we talked about that before and now I'm
very much about that. If Green Bay ends up having
a real good year and they're finishing, you know, twenty nine,
thirty thirty one, thirty two, you know, move out of
the first round, try to get some more picks, especially
if they're the quarterback. Market leads to somebody saying, hey,
I want to come back in here at the end
and go get a guy so I can get a
five year deal. I think the Cowboys could be a
(11:45):
very They could be played, could be playing with some
power here a little bit, and even depending on where
they are at the first round, you could even drop
down a couple for their pick.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
You could trade that.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
You got options. The bottom line, you got options. But
I do think they need to would dress this and
get someone who's going to be here for the next
four years to get some continuity there for the coach
and the offensive line and everything else. I am one
of those who still believes in the run game I do.
(12:14):
I still believe in the run game. I still believe running.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Actually, see what it has done to the offense this
year is consistent and so you can marry your passing
game to it. Now, you guys, your play action is
open and it's made a difference in our offense. And
it's good to see because we haven't really seen a
running game for a minie.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Well, it also helps your quarterback, That's what I mean.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
It helps your quarterback, and your quarterback is really good
when you're able to mix both in here. Speaking of
the quarterback, the stats are out here with what he's
been doing so far has been pretty impressive. I'm not
calling him MVP candidate the way other people are. It's
way too early for that. But he's doing is he's
doing his part. That's all you can do. Your part,
do more of the medium. Ash here with Dick Jack,

Courtesy of Toastito's all Right Media bash. Heere with the
Jean Jaques Taylor form Cowboy Beat riter and author. We
got Nick Harris other Ft Wall Star Telegram. So Nick,
we were talking the first segment about one Rico Dado,
the NFC offensive players the week. You're trying to downplay
a little bit, but Rico Rico spoke to the Charlotte media,
(15:40):
go ahead, play a little bit hit for the people here,
play a little bit.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
I know you said, hey, they gave you five years, Yes,
so they didn't sign him. Yeah, a little bit that you.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Know, you kind of went fayback or you want to
show them that you know, hey, maybe you need to say.
Speaker 11 (15:58):
For sure, never moment about the good game versus mo Man.
They didn't allow me to allow my dreams for about
five years there or so. That was the nature and
then that a lot didn't return there.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
It was the all age.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
And I never do for the food.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
See it's the part that I like right here, Ricos.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Cat you said mother though last week.
Speaker 11 (16:27):
They got a mother hunk said on that that was
his name. It was a very game. And I know,
just take pride that bull ship stain that I wouldn't come.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Said, I mean.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Playing against buckle up them, trimpster. I will be coming,
trips up tight. I'm him, I am, I will be coming.
He like Jesus had that.
Speaker 10 (16:52):
I am. I am.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Nick Nick Nick.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
There's no nothing we Nick. We take this right back.
But I hate that we found this out. But we
took this would have been gold.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
And I think, okay, I think maybe there was a misterpretation.
He wants to go after this front office right, rightfully,
so right everybody. I don't know if the players should
be taking it personally, That's what I.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Mean by Nick is clearly a pacifist. I'm not. I'm
not we want that.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
I'm not actually an instigator.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
I love instigating.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
This is j Cole middle child taking down names, writing
the list. I'm getting them hit. Okay, that's that's what.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
And at the top, it's at the top it's Jerry Jones,
Stephen Jones, and he came off.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Jerry ain't strapping. Jerry can't play, so everybody else got
to pay. Everybody else got to pay tides. I mean,
this is this is simple.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
We could have been listening to hit him up all
week man.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
And as he should, as he's been listening to hit
him up as.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
He come up.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Crup men, Okay, this is fun tomorrow, locker room, easy
for you again, just up, go back and forth.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Tell us what do you think about this? I don't
want there to be any missing repretation. This is what
he said from his own mouth.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Yeah, Flus, what you say, Flus? Do you have the
mash Do you already have the mash up ready to go?
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Put it on a loop? They walk in the locker
room just just playing on the loop.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
I mean, so somebody, you know the video departments been
charged of putting together for Saturday Night.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Well, I remember when Tony Sperano was coaching the Dolphins
and they won a couple of games.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
The first place he said.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
The division runs through us, and everybody's like yeah, yeah,
then and then Belichick plays it and you to see
it like that Indian you know Belichick, you see this, this, this.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
And so.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
I mean it was easy for Bill fired on up.
Speaker 9 (18:40):
So.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
I mean it used to be.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
At the Patriots fired up nothing in North Carolina when
you let your girl put so so look, it's a
problem it's a problem, man. It is a problem all
day long. Man, and.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Dudey double down on it. Man, he doubled down. I
stand by what I said.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
And obviously the Cowboys, the Cowboys got some issues here
in the run game, I.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Mean right here.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
So herisau with like six explosives, lives with eight point
one yards per carry.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Yeah, a defense.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
The Cowboys are twenty third and rushing one twenty seven
point four, so you know, all right. And when it
comes to rushing offense though, the Panthers are tenth one
twenty eight a game.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
So okay, something got to give. Something got to give,
got to be ready to go, got to be ready
to go. So I love it. I love it.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Your quarterback is playing really well right now. Dak Prescott
leads the NFL with fourteen big play passes twenty five
plus yards or more in twenty twenty five. He also
leads the NFL and completions one hundred and thirty nine,
ranked second in passing yards one thousand and three hundred
fifty six eight. He's tied for third and passing touchdowns
with ten. I'm not one of these people sitting here
talking about MVP. It's October Okay, ask Carson Wentz about
(19:56):
early early predictions for an MVP. All Right, it is
a long way to go till the end of the end.
But I will say this, Dak Prescott's doing his part
on a team that I did not think was going
to make the playoffs. I said they wouldn't make the playoffs.
But right now, Dak Prescott doing his part.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Nick, Yeah, certainly. And you talk to all these receivers
and I think you get a little bit more of
an understanding. But when you talk to Schottenheimer, I think
you really truly put together why this has been the
year for him so far. He said he's seeing his
progressions better than he's ever seen him, and it's they're
going quick for him. And when you can see the
see the field like that year ten in the NFL,
these are the kind of things that happen with it.
(20:31):
You can get a guy like Ryan flennaway one hundred
and fourteen yards in a game. You know, when CD
goes out for two weeks, your offense doesn't skip a beat,
and so it only has you wondering what it's going
to look like when ceed's back in the fold, because
it's just going to continue to open up. That's a
that's less chance of this offense getting stopped. Now.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
I think we've discussed it.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
It's DAK has the answers to the test right now,
and so everything is slow down. It's you can't fool him,
you can't trick him, and so he understands what you're doing.
What who's should be open based off of the coverage
I'm looking at, that's just a matter of can they
block it long enough for him to get it up.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
I don't know about MVP just yet, but comeback Player
of the Year write it.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Look MVP talk foolish for anyone at this point time.
It's way too early.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
But what I will say is when you're making sixty
million dollars like dak is, that means there's other players
that you kind of can't afford because you're taking up
the one and they need you.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
You need to develop, you need to you need to
make up for that.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
And when you see a guy like Ryan Flinoy sitting
up here put up one hundred, that reminds Meho and
Tony Romo had that great year where Laurent Robinson made
him look good and got him paid. George Pickens is playing.
I was one of those like, hey, cool down on
the whole. You got a number one in Ceedee Lamb
and a one A and.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
George Picking, like I got to see it. I've got
to see it in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
He never made a Pro Bowl, Like, you know, he's
got potential and he's got talent, but let me see it.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
We're seeing it.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
And with Ceedee Lamb out Pickings like the touchdown of
Sauce Gardener, Dak's got enough, Hey, man, go get it,
go make it. They're hand fighting down the field Pickings
and Gardener.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
It was great. It was a great competition.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
And he pulls the ball in that to me says,
this is what I need from my quarterback and here's
your tight end right now.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Who's out here balling?
Speaker 6 (22:17):
I was.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
I wondered did they pay Jake Ferguson too early? Dak
Prescott is finding guys. They're doing it with an offensive
line that is compromised, so he's not holding on the ball.
He's doing his part. That's what's that to me should
be the focus more than MVP tal So I.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Think that all goes into having the keys to the test,
the answer the test, which is now you can throw
people open.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Now you can help elevate.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
See the whole knock on deck I think has always
been he's really good, but he doesn't elevate the people
around it.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
And now he's elevating people around to.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
The point to where I kind of want to ask
the question you asked earlier about the run game. Could
you throw anybody at receiver and at work with the
way Dak Prescott's playing right now, you throw a guy
like Ryan Flinoyd's in the mix, he gets one hundred
yards and a half.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Where did that come from?
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Look, but Jalen Tolbert the week before, you know, in
the Packers game, here's jayl on Tober making contributions out here.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
And I ain't ready to go there yet because the
only guys who've consistently done that over years were who Anon, Roger,
Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Hall of Famous.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
I ain't ready stepped there yet, right, but yes, where
Tom could go out here? And here's Wes Welker, Here's
Danny am Mondola, here's Chris Holgan, just dudes.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
You know, winning champions.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Brandon LaFell, I mean, you know, but but so far
he's doing his part and that's the thing where for
the Dak haters out there where you cannot criticize the
guys doing his part, and that's what you're looking for
from your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
And they're making life Megan life tough.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
And I thought this was gonna be a tough game
against Jets with four offensive starters out, with the defense
having issues. Marshawn Neeland wasn't there, he was an act.
I thought this would be a problem, and they didn't.
And the quarterback is doing his part all right. When
we come back here on the medium ash, what should
concern the Cowboys about this Panthers offense and defense?
Speaker 3 (24:07):
We'll talk about that next right here on Dallas Cowboys Deck.
Speaker 7 (24:12):

(26:37):
So here come the Carolina Panthers are two or three,
Miami had a double digit lead. They come back and
they win that football game. Uh, when they went down
to Atlanta earlier in the year and laid it on
them so if you're the Cowboys, I won't call it
a trap game because they're not good enough that they
should be overlooking anybody here.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
But don't mean they won't.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
It just gave was kind of trap game a little bit.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
So many people injured. I didn't think it was.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
You thought it was like a realistic like, hey, they
could lose.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
This is that I said that matter fact I picked
the Jets.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
I picked the Jets too.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
I did not, but I was worried from the standpoint
that because we didn't know what if there would be
four starters down. You thought they would be three, but
then when we saw four, it's like, okay, Tylers was active,
but he's not playing. And when I was doing the shows,
So so if someone goes down amongst your backup office,
like where do you go? How how deep can you
keep going into this? Well, then just the fact that
(27:29):
the Jets, you know, they had Tampa beat mess that
up that at some point you're gonna win a game.
But if you're gonna win a game, he's gonna be
at home. Giants ended up winning it gets the charges
the week before, like things, at some point in time,
you thought things were gonna land land Aaron Glenn's. Well,
they remember the go Jason Garrett Special when they didn't
have two tackles up there like twenty nineteen and lost,
So I was worried about it.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
They made things happen.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
So now, good on the Cowboys here, But going into Charlotte,
not last time, but two years ago when Jimmy was
out there with Jimmy Johnson showed up here and Jerry
had the whole Hall of Fame. Now that first quarter,
the first half when Frank Wright was coaching, they gave
the Cowboys a battle. They made too many mistakes, but
they fought them. And it's going to be a fifty
(28:15):
to fifty crowd. Okay, there's a lot of Cowboy fans
that live in North Carolina. I know this from experience.
But those Panther fans who are there ready to cheer
for them, so they're they're going to fight you. It's
just not easy, and I think we All you gotta
do is look across the league. Last week, here's Tennessee
coming from behind and beating Arizona. You saw the Saints
(28:39):
Kellen Moore get their first win. You can't get beat
in this league. There's nobody who's just like, well, we'll
be fine. I mean the Chargers, you know, the shock
me one more time as they got beat. So it's
some stuff going on in this league right now.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
I don't see it necessarily as a trap game. I
think they have enough talent on both sides of the ball,
especially defensively. Man, I love that defensive Caroline. If they
just had some sort of pulse offensively, I feel like
they'd be all right. I feel like this is a
six win team this year, which is sain't a lot
for the Carolina Panthers. It is six seven wins. I
think they could be in that range. You know, they
need to go in and make sure they have their
seat belts.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Buckle up, buckle up, trap, strap it up, get a
Hans device, get the whole thing Man device.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
But they have won two games this year, so you know,
like I said, undefeated at home, Cowboys got say two wins,
So you know it's there shouldn't be an overlooking Caroline.
You're not that good, so it should be full attention.
You have Rico talking to you.
Speaker 7 (29:36):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
The offense has been playing terrific at a very high level,
and so you know I think they'll do well this week.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Jonathan Gannon find one hundred grand by the Cardinals, And
I want to ask you this, Jacques, just being you know,
a long time beat right here, having covered so many
different Cowboy coaches, seen anything like that when you when
you cover the team here with all the different head
coaches that were I was trying to think that, you
know what, where coach puts hands on player and gets
find one hundred grand and has to apologize to the
(30:04):
player Mario di Camarado who while he went to the
end zone let go of the ball before he cross point.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
There was a a player.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
From the Cowboys, high profile player once hit an assistant
coach in a similar situation on the sideline, but it
was before it was in the nineties, so it wasn't
like a bunch of cameras when nobody saw it, and
the coach called me and said, you won't believe what
this twelve let a cuss word did, D D D D.
Now you know me can write that, Yeah, so I'm
(30:36):
all hyped. I've written it up. Then I made a
mistake and answer the phone again. Man, you can't write that.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
You can't put that out there because the player was
so whole high profile, the story would have never gone
away and.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
You know.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Already published. Man, I don't know what to tell you.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Ordinarily I do that, but he was one. He was
really the guy who told the guy that happened to
a client. Not only was he a client, he was
my first client. And so it's the first and so
on the coaching stuf understood, understood. And so the beauty
of it was I had not told the office. I
(31:15):
had just been working it.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
I had told the PR department though that this is
coming though.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
That's probably where he messed up. Uh you know what
it probably is, that's probably where he messed up.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
But I had Rich made a call coming. Rich fixed it.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
And so what happened was I told because Rich coment, Hey, Hey,
come see me in my office.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
What man, that's jack. You know we can't have this.
And so this is how the business works for those
of you who want to know behind the curtain. I
don't want to. I'm gonna write it.
Speaker 7 (31:50):
No, we do.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
What can we do? You owe me one, matter of fact,
you owe me two for this one. And that was
the agreement.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Okay, I got to I got to the call in
whatever I call him, and he was a man of
his word. And I called him in one that year
and one about a year and a half later.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Were they worth it. I wouldn't call him in unless okay, you're.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Not calling him bout practice car elevation.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
That's when I was putting that wooden bullet clans his ass.
Now he would deny it.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
But hey, you go back and check the clips, baby,
See now, now I got to worry about the petty
things I got. I'm gonna I'm getting the call.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
We used to keep school. Are you talking about me?
Speaker 9 (32:34):
Man?
Speaker 3 (32:35):
A lot of podcasts?
Speaker 9 (32:36):
No more?
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Man, take a lady, reallyand that's what you're doing, real lid.
And we put the board educationing off the chef to
come with the holes in it. I don't I catch you.
I will catch bullets for you. That's the thing. That's
why you're my boy. I don't want to catch I'm
trying to live a life. But that was back in
the day. I mean, you know, no sensitivities and proclific
(33:02):
nick they don't go away. But after the break, I'll
tell y'all who it was. Thank you, thank you very much,
And those of y'all listening, you just have to wonder.
That's good.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
You know, let's end it right there, because I got one.
You can go to Jock's book signing whenever he released
his new book. Yeah, tell you that's practice report.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Eighteen players on the do we have time for another podcast?
Eighteen players on this injury report for Donovan Wilson did
not practice for the elbow knee. We knew he wasn't
out there, so we expected that he left the game
late against the Jets. Let's see, I'll run through some
of the drown Blaine shoulder limited, JA Damian Clowney hip limited,
Trayvon Diggs knee limited.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
I mean that's a given.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
James Houston knee limited, Marsha Neeland returned to the practice
field ankle limited. Tyler Smith and Tyler Guidon returned, both
limited that the one day. Thomas ankle limited. Nobody knew
that's out. Jack Sandborn concussion did not practice.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
We knew that one though. No no real surprises, but
obviously it's lengthy, all right.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
But Tyler Guy, who had been in concussion protocol, is limited.
So that's a positive. Okay, all right, appreciate it. Nick,
Care's what we're start telegram the author Jean Jacques Tayl
was about to drop the nuggets about what happened once
we get off. Hey, Chris Beam, our producer, Thank you
very much on New Distress and Media Match. We'll talk
to you next time we're here on Dallas Cowboys dot com.
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
