Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is media match, a roundtable of Cowboys insiders, dropping
wisdom and offering sizzling takes on the current state of
your Dallas Cowboys. Now your host knew, he scrugs.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Media mash coming to you from the Star on Frisco.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
That is the home of the Dallas Cowboy Jean Jaques Tailey,
author and former Cowboy beat writers. Here we got Nick
Hair's before we Star telegram. I am Newy scrugs just
left the Cowboys locker room. So the pickets, but we
did get a couple of people talking. J Davian Cloanney smoke.
Oh so Diggi Ziel spoke was there for those talked
to Donovan az Roku, who'd you talk to.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Me so shoddy today?

Speaker 5 (00:38):
And his press conference mentioned something when he was asked
about Jaden Blue and he said that, you know, he
likes some things from the kid, he also doesn't like
some things for the kid. He needs to see more
consistency from him. And he's liked what Malik Davis has
started to put together. He said that is a battle
to watch moving forward. So I went over to Malik
Davis and I said, you know, how does this feel
an opportunity here you when you left this building last year? First,

(00:58):
did you ever think you'd be back in here? He said, no,
I really didn't. And uh when he was not called
here for or called anywhere for training camp, he was
doing his own training camp in southern southern Florida and
he was replicating the schedule that the Cowboys were doing.
So like everything that the Cowboys did, he made sure
he was doing it on his own. And sure enough
he got the call from the Cowboys what was it
a day before.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
The Rams game?

Speaker 4 (01:19):
And then he went and balled out in that Rams game.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
And he's had a couple of practice quad elevations, has
a look good on special teams, has had a few tackles,
and got some work against the or with the second
team offense in garbage time against the Broncos. Now apparently
maybe trying to buy for this RB two spot.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
So let me just throw this out here because this
is just just my thought process that FuMB will hurt
Jayon Blue.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
It really did that fumble.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Because if it's what the one thing you have to
do as a running back is protect the football.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
There was also some blitz pick up stuff that was
not pretty from him. So and that's that's certainly factored
into this.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
That's not good.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
No, that's what those of those people who were rushing
him into the lineup. Where's Jayden Blue? And we ain't
seen it now. I don't always agree with coaches. I
really don't. Nobody who ever covers the team always agrees
with coaches. But you do have to ask yourself when
certain people don't play or their cut time is cut,
you have to ask yourself why. Like they want the
best team they can have available, they want the best

(02:17):
players out there playing, So somebody's not playing, it's fair
to ask why and then go investigate you.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well, I'm quick with Nick here where people were trying
to rush the guy to the lineup. But there's things
they see and I think all of us understand, and
is if a guy is a quarterback can't pick up
the blitz and it's a guy you can't trust, You've
got too much money invested in your quarterback to have

(02:46):
a mistake.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I mean Steve, Steve.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Young's career ended because Lawrence Taylor, I mean Lawrence Phillips
couldn't pick up bltz, didn't know what he's doing, got
smither Ens and the guy one more concussion into his career.
But you have got to have people back there who
know what they're doing. And then if you have issues
doing that and oh, by the way, you're fumbling the ball.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
No, baby, that that that's.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
If I'm not mistaken, Christian Grinkowski missed the block to
get Tony Wilmo hurt like out for several weeks because
mister blitz pick up. Yeah that was a long time ago,
but that just popped in my head.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
But this is this is this is how on a
roster where there's a challenge to get to get a
shirt each week. I mean, we saw Jonathan Mingo sitting
on the bench last week. You know what, Hey, yeah
you're activated. Guess what you know, get that saluted service
shirt because we're gonna go with Ryan Lannoy And you
were correct.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
I think you might see Mingo this week. I think
you might see Mingo this week. Just keep it there.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
I feel like Henry David threw so I love him,
love the row is actually looking at the throw yesterday
and it's deep right in Emerson.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, I had a whole deep thing on.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
That scholar.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
He is teach, he's teaching. It was a chance with
Scotland School. But yes, of course I saved.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
I saved my note doctor Scruts from from mister Stand's class.
And so I'm looking at Nose from nineteen eighty seven
to nineteen eighty eight, Henry, David Throw and Emerson.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
So yes, very much.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
So you you have to make sure you're looking at
this roster this year. But oh, by the way, Nick,
what you about what's next year? Jonathan Mingo is a
guy who's gonna be here.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
So if we don't care, I'm trying to win now,
I'm trying to win Monday.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Can he help me win Monday? He might be able
to win Monday? So Nick, what was the thought process
there about Mingo? So far as what you're saying, you
believe we might be able to see him, Jerry say.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
That's always no, no, no, I just think you didn't hear
that on the show. You think you might see Mingo
this week?

Speaker 3 (04:45):
That's okay, okay, that's so we see ming So we
see Mingo?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Who sits?

Speaker 4 (04:51):
I think it would be number one?

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Why does Nick say that would have smiled on his face?

Speaker 7 (04:57):
Well?

Speaker 6 (04:58):
Number one ain't give you an nothing, no special teams.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
That's not Ryan Illinois number one.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
It's John Yeah, number October JT.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
So we'll see, we'll see. It's early in the week.
I will say that it's early in the week.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
But in the game, they've got to win. They got
to win this game. They got to win this game or.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
What be trouble?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Trouble if you if you have if Okay, you're in
second place right now, you've got playoff hopes and staying
second place.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
You got to win this.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
I mean, I feel you, but I'm always like, they
really don't. They like to really, but they really don't.
They really do. It's not there's no much in November.
There's like the wins, one of the wins. Hope to win, wishkay,
but it ain't no musk.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
So audience on the J j T win loss.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Starting year, you had, you had Denver's l L and
you had this is a w and you had because
of Columbary fact, there you go, the one.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
I keep dying playing y'all. This was not one of
my six dubs, because you're always gonna lose to somebody
you supposed to beat. And then I had them beating
the charges later was that was Carolina. They go splip
out Carolina and Arizona flip out. That was one of
them they supposed to win later.

Speaker 8 (06:05):
In the year.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
See that's how I got my six. I'm still playing
with three.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
I'm putting down right now. I'm going you.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
All in, You, Jim Fossil, you all you shoving them
all in for this game.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
One week shove for Monday night? Is that the crib
for Monday night?

Speaker 6 (06:21):
You told me Calambarton at the crib.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
That's coming off a foot injury. Calamarion played a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
If you're going to if you're going to get him,
this is the time to get it. Coming off foot injury,
a little a little shaky, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
This is it.

Speaker 6 (06:39):
And magic and a little pouch in his pocket. I'm
just saying, might have Kevin here, all the short people
representing Tom Cruise, everybody, everybody the crib. Just bring Usher
Ye and Legend out there, Andy DeVito.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
John Legend was out of the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Get the dominutive. When you saw the first time I
didn't hit you.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Like little Yeah him and Bruno Mars.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
Yeah, so Bruno people, that's the thing about. At least
Kevin Hart is cut up now. Yeah, you're not skiddy yeah. Yeah,
that's the thing about Brunos.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Oh man, you little land skin.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
You can't never do drugs disappear right.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
That that part.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
He's good, Bruno brun fantastic.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I saw Bruno do a show.

Speaker 8 (07:29):
Man.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Bruno's good. I like, so I was smart, go to
show alone. See buy one ticket. Singles are easy to
get low they are fact.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Let me know. I didn't have to connect. I just went.
I just went.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
I said, give me a single, and next thing you know,
I was it was on the side. It was on
the side, and it's like real sea.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
Yeahimples.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
It was great. It was a great It was a
great seat. Man does a great show.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
So yeah, I mean, if you're going to if you
want to take a you know, lady friend, I would
recommend it.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
He did the Joe Flecco. He went to the concert alone.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
You see him talking last week about Yeah, I've been
Oh man, I believe in that.

Speaker 6 (08:12):
When you had kids, man, sometimes at the back, back
back in the day, Man, when I was covering to beat,
I had some. I had some when I was covering
the beat beat close, I was.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Right there, Brough, I'm like there, see see that, I'm good.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
Yeah, I didn't take advantage of. And you should know
you should not follow my lead. You go in all
these cities. I think I told you to travel. You
should take advantage of going to New York. But wherever
you're going, man, had them kids and stuff. I'd get
to that hotel room, lay it down to sleep.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
I got to Denver.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
I got to Denver on Saturday at about eleven am,
and uh slept until about five thirty.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
See yeah, I mean I had full.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Plans of going out. It was a nice day.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
I was like, man, I'm get out. Let me put
my stuff down. I put a lot more of my
stuff down.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Bro put me down road trips. We can't sleep trips,
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
So I don't have kids yet, that's gonna be a problem.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
And then a lot of times it would be if
my kid was playing football or something on Saturday. So
you stay home and watch the game, then hit the flight.
Then by the time you get to this, see everybody,
Clarence Hill, let's go. You're like, man, I got nothing
for you. Yep, I got nothing for you. If you're
not in the hotel lobby, I got nothing for I.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Love Clarence Hill. I stopped doing that decades.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
Ago was legendary.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Now that's during the Bushes. I got tapped out during
the Bush administration.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
This reminds me of a funny story. Barry Horn, great
feature writer for the Dallas Morning News early nineties early nineties,
had a story where Jerry said, I'm going to give
you twenty four access to me. That was the story
twenty four hours with Jerry Jones. Wherever I go, wherever

(09:55):
I go, you can go.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
My man Barry Horn came back. He said, I lost him.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Twice because here it was like that. You turn your head, man,
it's gone like a ghost. It would be a great story.
But yeah, the fact that he loves him twice with
twenty four x's, that's crazy, is crazy?

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yes and know yes, yes and no. I mean we
got a bodyguard.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
You do some things, and I'm sure there was a
phone call, something would happen and you.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Need to shake him. Well he got ship.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah, that's right, you need to shake Verry Horn and
going hear the next thing the little track brow I said,
Oh yeah, the rich and powerful know how to move.
They knew how to move, so very good. All right,
let's get break in here. When we come back what's
the bounce back we should look for from Dak Prescott
coming off a performance in Denver which was not good
because he's had to carry this offense so much to
do it next with Jack and Nick, I knew he

(10:48):
this is the media.

Speaker 9 (10:49):

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Jacque Taylor for more beat Right of the Cowboys and
author joints us along with the cares of the four
fourth Star Telegram. All right, so this has been pretty interesting, Nick,
because now you got up my mind thinking a little bit.
So you think we'll see Mingo this week and we
could possibly not see uh Jalen Tolbert Malik Davis getting
some love from Brian Schotttheimer at the running back position,

(13:38):
which means Jade Blue could possibly be moved to the
bench because of the fumbling issues there. What else could
be happening because Shotty said there would be some changes
and they have way too many penalties. There are number
two in the league in terms of penalties committed here, so.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
I've tied Adam.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Kids.

Speaker 6 (13:55):
You committed pre snap this week at the create. I'll
see you in the next quarter.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
See the next game.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Well, I mean, are they good at it?

Speaker 6 (14:03):
You gotta you gotta have some you know what, maybe
I just have a private conversation, not the team meeting.
I'm bringing Tyler Gutting up in my office. Hey, young man,
you flinch before that ball gets snapped. I will see
you next week.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
I mean, you had nine You're gonna run out of
guys because they had eight of them in the first
half of dinner.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Run out of guys.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
It's like left tackle some You know, you treat everybody saying,
but you treat them all differently. Uh, you're fair with everybody.
So we got different standards with different folks, you know.
Tyler Smith, Yes, you can get your whole illegal procedure.
We'll let it pass. But Tyler gott do you don't
get no pass and we can pick out whoever else
you don't want to give a pass to. Uh, you

(14:45):
ain't get no pass on no defense. Well, I guess
that's not a pre snappilly James Houston, you lying up outside, dog,
sit your butt.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Down, and the thing for me and when I'm surprised
at Shoty was here the McCarthy when they had these
same problems. So I thought this would be something that
would change, and it hasn't changed.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
What did Bill pars says teach us?

Speaker 2 (15:10):
It was penalties weren't his I don't coach, that's number one. Now.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
I don't like the car players dumb, but players who
are prone to make penalties are players who are prone
to make preesting that penalties or who lack focus.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
They just like disciplined focus.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
Yeah, so you're not really going to fix most of
those guys. That's who they are.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
But there's okay, so without punishment, and that was my
next thing is yeah, real, when there's no consequences, that's
when you do things, when you keep repeating the mistakes
because there's no consequences of a mistake. But if there's
some consequences that come with them, sick the usually you say,
oh I don't want that, or even well you just
said you ain't got nobody the ability to have guys

(15:51):
in the room come down on you.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
Ain't nobody.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
And I got that ability when the right Harrison, they
had people that had to visit New England when you
did something wrong, you know, Teddy Bruce, Ki ride Day,
Willia mc gets it, you messed up.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
They had, they had reinforcements.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
Now that's that's a very interesting point, very interesting because
when you look back to the quarterback Troy Akeman, you
didn't have to visit nobody. He would meet you on
the way back to the huddle and tell you by yourself.
And as nice at Troy is, he should drop a
lot of bombs on.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Folks and the ball and you know, and if you're
a player, who was you know, a receiver to make
me y'all get the ball again? If Tom Bradley had,
you know, it's great. On the broadcast say I don't
know fight trust him again. Consequences, repercussions, what's happening here?
And and I know Shotty talked about a little bit.
What can he really do?

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Then?

Speaker 5 (16:45):
As far as changes going into this week, there's the
little personnel changes you can make. You could talk about
Perry on Winfrey coming in and factoring into the defensive
tackle rotation.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
But I give it the same lazy. Look y'all are
giving me.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
It's just what it is.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Yeah, this is this And I like Perry and Winfrey
decent player.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Yeah, it'd be with it be due.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
You know, you'd like him in a different situation, and that.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
Has like a rotational guy that can give you some
juice off the bend, not as a hey, we bring anything.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
We need you, what you got, what you got, come on, man.
That's and that's where they are scraping the barrel here.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
And that's that's like going to summer school to trying
to find a spelling be winner. It's just it's not
gonna work.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
It's gonna be hard, man, It's gonna be hard. Yes, yes,
it's gonna be very hard. The Cowboys are in a
tough position. But I still think despite all that, they
win this week. They play better at home, So they
play better at home. You were embarrassed and they got
to come back from another embarrassment.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
But you talked about deck needing to bounce back. I
don't really I don't really even see it as a
deck issue. It's a it's a if your defense will
not give up a touchdown or points on every drive.
Did you realize that the defense of getting up points
on like fifty the drive.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
But here's a surprises, not more, but here's the Yes, you
know the defense is doing that. And if Dak Prescott
can't carry the offense, then you're gonna see what we
saw in Denver. It's gonna get blowed out. They only
Denver only had eight third down opportunity.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Well, here's what I mean, Doug. Now we're splitting hairs.
Most of the time we split hairs between greatness. This
time we splitting hairs between raggediness. Okay, there's a difference
between your normal bad and what we saw Sunday. The
normal bad is it's a couple of punts mixed in there.

(18:34):
It might be a turnover. This was just touchdown, touchdown.
So if Arizona does that again this week, Dak Prescott
will play.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
His numbers will be just like.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
They were last week. Because you'll be playing from behind.
You'll feel pressure to score every drive because they can't
stop anybody and it rolls downhill. So for Dak to
bounce back, the defense just need to give you the
regular bad performance, just the regular badness.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Like the Carolina game.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah, the regular badness. We live with that.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
Yeah, don't be giving us this extra badness, this extra serenist.
We can't handle that.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Just give us regular defense.

Speaker 6 (19:12):
Hey, twenty eight tall, can y'all keep him to twenty
eight we got.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
You instead of six? Can he just give him four?
Six schns can just do four?

Speaker 6 (19:22):
That was said day We Got you, Fellas, just twenty
eight play.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Just make make Murray play from the pocket coming off
a foot injury. If you can make him play for
the pocket. I like their opportunity. I like the chances,
but also I just believe there's a pride factor. Nobody
wants to get embarrassed, and these guys got embarrassed again,
And I just feel like on Monday night football back
here at home with Dak Prescott having a game where
he was not his best nineteen or thirty one hundred

(19:49):
and eighty eight yards to two interceptions with a rating
of fifty one point five, he's gonna bounce back.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
The other thing is they don't have that pass rush either,
so uh, playing from behind and with the Broncos pay
you know what that was? That was essentially the Cowboys
and the Dan queenn they get up on you and
they unleashed the pass.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Russ well under.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Dan quib but it's also this is what they've been
here now for what the past four five years. A
team that can't beat good teams. They have a problem.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Pain't worried about that basic right, right, this is it.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
The next two weeks you're facing two last place teams,
Arizona last place in the NFC West, the Raiders last
place in the AFC AFC West. So these are the
kind of games that they win. And then you get
this game at home. This is where the Cowboys win.
This is where I feel confident.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Are these the kind of games the Cowboys win?

Speaker 5 (20:36):
Though they lost to the Bears and the Panthers lost
to the Cardinals, those are on the road.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
I'm talking about Vegas specifically.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
And and and so knew he's doing the claris He's
already looked past the cut. No, no, no, no, I'm
not looking Look they've won with the last three meetings.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
The last time they beat him was twenty sevthings. I'm
not looking past. I think you were embarrassed so much.
And the path fact in the past you have looked
past them, and you got a guy like Dak Prescott
who's like, okay, yeah, let me make sure we can
handle our business because we've looked over the path we
got beat. But I also think this is after Denver.
I just think they'll respond, I do. I just think

(21:14):
they respond, and they respond at home on National TV.

Speaker 6 (21:17):
Here's a question, and I don't know the answer to.
I don't know that you guys know the answer to. Well,
Dak Prescott give you the I'm pissed at y'all no
talk this week. And I don't mean literally no talk,
but give the vibe of the cliche. Did y'all and
miss that. I'm upset with y'all defensive side of the

(21:39):
ball meeting no just team team Okay, okay, because when
he talks about we got to stop talking it and
play it, and we didn't play that. Stand up will
he be like.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
That's not him.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
That's what I said.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
It's never going to be him. I can see CD
doing that.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
You know ced path too much. I ain't listening to
CD exactly. That's why I asked if Deck would do it.
I mean, CD is a great player. I think CD's
heart is in the right spot. But CD is just
as liable to pout asy as a high five. And
that guy case saying nothing to me as a player
on the team. You didn't get I mean he was
down in poud two weeks ago. Ytion them.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
We're gonna take a break on that one. Let that marinate.

so I saw on my phone today, Yes, is this

(25:12):
trade rumor real? We talked about in the texting pickets?

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Man, shut up?

Speaker 6 (25:19):
No, I'm sorry. Did you tell them then?

Speaker 2 (25:22):
That was my Yeah, that's my mission reaction.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Then I'm like, what what who's giving you that? What
kind of feed? Or it's all my feeds? Who are
you following Facebook? Okay, I gotta get off Facebook. Look
at me, get off Facebook?

Speaker 6 (25:35):
Yeah, look at me, get off Facebook.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
I will let them know that because yes, and I said,
I'm just gonna lay it out to you in this terms.
I said, just me because I'm at the gym when
I get this, and I'm not trying to jump on
a whole busson. They traded them for three. They traded
him for three, and you're trying to trade them unless
you get a one, you're not making this move. But
then at the same time, because of who George Pickets

(25:59):
has been in the past, nobody's going to give you
a one for him. Plus he's going to be a
free agent at the end of the year. Nobody's gonna
give you away one for that.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
They acquired for a three and a five.

Speaker 6 (26:07):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
So yeah, you would have to get a one in
a five.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Okay, So right out of it, it does make sense. Then,
just knowing who Jerry Jones is, this is the names
still tenness. He to make the playoffs. You're a second
place right now. This is not a move that you
make if you think you're gonna make the playoffs. You're
eighty two years old and you still are out here
selling hopium with more of the season ago.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
It's not something you do.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
He's also a man who likes to collect stars.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
It doesn't make sense.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
And oh, by the way, your number one in passing
yardage in the NFL. The one thing you can do is.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Throw the ball. Move the ball.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
And Jerry once again about stars. Jerry likes guys like
George Pickens, makes highlight plays.

Speaker 6 (26:46):
Different between stars and defensive stars. You like stars between
offense starves and defensive stuff.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Very fair. It doesn't fit who Jerry is. Was that right?
In my response?

Speaker 6 (26:57):
No, yeah, you're right right, I mean it was right.
I'm surprised you gave him that many words. Must have
been a close friend, some people's non close friend. We've
been shut up though.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Some people deserve grace. And it was in the morning
ate something.

Speaker 5 (27:11):
Some people are writing about it, some people were writing
about it out here.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
I get it, and so and that.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
That's my other thing is we have so many people,
there's so much clickbait going on out here that people
don't even, you know, make sense of it. And I
was I was someone the other day was talking about
making a trade.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
For a really, really, really good.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Defensive player, and I just said, can you look at
first up, go look at that other team who gave
that defensive player all this money. What would it hurt
them under their cap to move the Secondly, you get
this player, and this player is as good as you think,
why is the other team doing it?

Speaker 6 (27:48):
So you ask it Folks to be logical, right.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Like there's there's tripping.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
There's never logic for the other team you're getting. And
Buck Showalter, when he was managing the Texas Rangers, once
told me, he said, Nui, people always think that you're
going to f somebody in some trades.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
It's not really how it works.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
It's just really not only in fantasy football.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Right, It's really not these trades that are proposed by
people out of time somehow. Hey, let me tell you
how I'm taking your best guy and I'm giving you
these nickels and dimes, Honey, how it is.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
It's really not how it is.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
In all these scenarios where Cowboy Fan has Jerry making
a trade. You're trading for this really really good player,
and you're parting away with stuff you don't won't right,
and it doesn't make sense. Na, And people who don't
understand the draft have no real clue what it means

(28:43):
when you're having two.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
First round picks in your hand.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
First round picks are tremendous, tremendous assets, and if you're
going to have a roster like Jerry has where you
have a quarterback making sixty wide receiver making thirty five, I.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
Mean Detroice, and you figure out just fine, Yeah, they
got eight folks making twenty of them more.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Some people figured it out. Guess what around here? It
kind of hasn't happened that way, right, Yes, the Eagles
have figured it out. Kind of hasn't happened around here
that way, right, Okay, So if you're going to wait
to pay people, the prices go up.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Lamb's price went up. Probably should have got.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Him earlier, right, Yeah, should have probably got back a
little bit earlier. Right, yep, But you didn't. Should have
got Michael a little bit earlier, right, you didn't. So
if you're going to play the waiting game, you're gonna
pay a higher price. So that's the thing. So these
great players that these people want to get rid of,
they're not cheap.

Speaker 8 (29:37):
Now.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
So it's just I just find it just kind of
amazing at times when people because trade dead lines.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
What the four next Tuesday?

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Okay, election day November four.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
I don't see an impact player coming here the way
people think. If everybody's thinks somehow they're gonna go, he's
gonna go get some mica.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
I can see a couple of mingos. I can see
a couple of mingo mango m hm.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
And even then.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
My issue becomes, do they fit the scheme or they're
gonna be comfortable in the scheme? Can they run the
scheme and make the adjustment? Yep, that's a that that
ain't easy people, do you plugging? No, it ain't like that.
It's not in football. Baseball trades are easy because baseball Okay, man,
hey you bad fit. Okay, gohead center. Okay, you can

(30:24):
do that. Now you were playing over here? Okay, what's
the defense? Like you know, old just because it's four
to three doesn't mean the four to three The matter
ever Reflus is running is gonna be the same four
to three that somebody else was running.

Speaker 5 (30:36):
And these are our signals, I know, they're a little
bit different from your signals. That signal means something different
over here. You know, there's a lot of things that
go into all.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
That, right, So these things matter in the NFL, and
we're just talking about you know, hey man, it's once
a week. It's it's it's different, it's different. So that's
why you don't really see so many quote unquote spectacular,
big type trains.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
You just you just don't.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
So anyway, it's just my two cents, man, that's my
two cents on I just could they use the linebacker, yes,
because they use a safety. Yes, off season, there'll be
no difference making.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
They better take those those first round picks all the
way up until draft weekend, all the.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Way up until draft weekend.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
The only reason you move one of those first round
picks is to move back in the draft.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
That's it, to acquire more picks.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Yes, yes, that's it.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
They should not be fine trading for any expiring contracts
right now either.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
They have no business doing that. They don't.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
They shouldn't be trading a seventh round conditional pick for
an expiring contract right now.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
If you're going to truly help your defense next year,
you need to hold on all the assets that you
have in terms of draft capital and.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Work off that.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
And and oh, by the way, I believe they're going
to try to sign George Pickens even if all you
do is put him on a on a one year
deal franchise, and that's.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Still going to be money.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
So whatever you think you're gonna do, you're gonna have
to put aside thirty million dollars for George Pickens.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
It's gonna have to and I would pay that number.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Thirty Absolutely, I'd pay the number. I'd sign it right now.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Yeah, I'd pay the number. I mean, I'm just saying
that's going to be the minimum here. So I'm gonna
pay George Pickens. So I'm gonna have a sixty five
million dollars receivers and it's sixty dollars quarter back. So
if I've got that going on, okay.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
Good, think you don't have forty seven million dollars pass.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
Rusher Defensive play of the year that guy? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Has he won one?

Speaker 2 (32:24):
About two? Is he keep doing this? Keep doing this?

Speaker 3 (32:27):
I mean, hey, let's the Ivory's been good. If the
Ivory lt comes up, he might get it. But you know,
we'll see. See he's pretty good. He's pretty good by
the way.

Speaker 6 (32:35):
Uh, and his team is going to be winning.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
I'm like Miles Garrett going to Super Bowl?

Speaker 6 (32:41):
Would that not be a trip?

Speaker 2 (32:43):
I think that happened.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
He went Super Bowl MVP.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
I picked them to win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
I mean that one I have them is I think
I picked Detroit, but clearly them Detroit is not a
stretch for either one of them.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
I didn't take Detroit because they lost coordinators. That was
why I didn't.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
I couldn't go to the Bills preseason. Bills over Detroit,
though Bill's over.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Detroit, Detroit, Green Bay.

Speaker 6 (33:05):
I see either one of them.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Now look that I think that division is that strong
or unless somebody out of the you know in West
super Bowvie, Wow, it would be. But at the same
time I looked I look at him as a Fred
Dean type of piece. Yep, this guy right here helps
you go there. They already had a good defense.

Speaker 8 (33:28):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Now you put that guy there.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
I mean Michael Parson saved the Green Bay game here, Yeah,
I mean Jake Ferguson tried, and you know he's.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
Only going to get better as the season goes on.
It's more in tune with that scheme and the defense.
What they do and what they can allow him to
do is they get more familiar.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Jake can't hold up on Parsons, so he gets to
Dak and it looked like that was about to walk
in for a touchdown, but he got dragged out by
Michael Parsons.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
I mean that play right there, won the game. In
my opinion, that won them the game. I mean, the
game tied them the game they were about to lose.
They were about to lose.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
So Michael Parsons's he's that impactful of a football player,
and at that time he was still kind of getting there.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Ramp it up. Now he saw what he did last week.
The dude's good. He's good there. So I think that
the Green Bay Packers have an offense and a defense
to to get to the super Bowl and win the thing.

Speaker 6 (34:18):
Wild.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
You know, we've seen worse.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
We've seen worse around here, right, Uh yeah, yeah, Hey, hey,
you know, good for him, good for him, good for him.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
And you know, it just means be picking thirty second first, he'd.

Speaker 5 (34:33):
Be picking thirty six because you're gonna move back, get
some picks. That's what you need to do in that scenario.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
Hey, look, I'm for that all day long. Yes, move down,
go ahead, get a I'm with that all day long.
So at some point in time, we'll do the draft show,
won't we.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Okay? All right? Uh, Nick's got a right here. He's
got stuff to do. I gotta go do some TV.
I got stuff to do. He's got stuff to do.
That's why you're dressed.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
I want to make Yeah, I ain't got nothing to do,
all right, Nick Harris, Jean Jacques tailor to expressed.
