He'll go on twenty four and Mickey number where you
thirty three?
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Twenty four?
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Do not deserve Kareem's number. I think it was seventy. Yeah,
he was seventy three.
Speaker 7 (01:28):
Seventy three, now thirty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
I'm gonna I just ran across the picture you have
in my junior high basketball uniform.
Speaker 7 (01:39):
Come on, man, you gotta do as Monday.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
We got it, man, we got we all man.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
Beat the team that you wrote a book about.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
I had thirty three before he did.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Okay, yes, you did, Yes, you, that's great.
Speaker 6 (02:00):
Did he have thirty three at Power Memorial? I don't believe.
I don't know, all right, or you sal Power Memorial
came before U c l A.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Oh that's yeah, yeah, all.
Speaker 6 (02:12):
Right, So here we are. Yes, Mickey did write the
book on the Dallas Washington rivalry and the new chapter
on Christmas Day.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
I don't know if that gamefied.
Speaker 6 (02:26):
First in eighty six yard touchdown pass? What do you mean?
Speaker 7 (02:28):
Yeah knows, he knows. I don't nobody know. He knows it?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Now, Hell you turn the TV off after that?
Speaker 7 (02:36):
Yeah, they can pack it up this.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
And all all I do. I see him catching on
the run.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
He gone, ain't he gone?
Speaker 7 (02:47):
All right?
Speaker 4 (02:48):
And I saw a seventy two yard run also.
Speaker 6 (02:51):
By Bill Bill? So how many watched it live? What
do you mean you watch the game?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
What's your game?
Speaker 8 (03:01):
I know you did?
Speaker 6 (03:02):
You were the okay? Confused Christmas at now? Oh no,
I've got to work around the family.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
I had to.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
I had it on and then the family again, the.
Speaker 9 (03:14):
Family getting away, kids come out, The family arrived at
the house at halftime, watched the second half.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Let me just tell you what it is you're taking
too long.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Yeah, all right, Bill had to shoot the starting lineup.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
They don't even know what you're talking about, don't well
you it I did, but that didn't mean anybody saw it.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
I did not.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
I'm surprised that none of the guys in there.
Speaker 6 (03:41):
Follow you, Bill, but I'm not surprised. Our tradition group.
Our tradition on Christmas is I announced the starting lineup.
Speaker 7 (03:49):
I line up.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
It started with just my daughters back in the day,
and the family has grown where they've gotten married, and
so we line them up and then they go in
to see what Santa brought, okay, and so we go
by age youngest oldest and this year, now I've got
five grandsons and three daughters, three son in laws, and
(04:13):
so we line them all up and starting with twenty
three month old Parks. He comes in and I mean
we they say their name and what their age.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
Is, and so it's a great tradition.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
Like so, my daughters are their thirties and I'm Jessica,
I'm thirty.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yes, and we're doing this again. Wow. Yes, it was
cute when we were thirteen.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Do they announce their schools?
Speaker 3 (04:40):
The son in laws don't like to do that.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
Laws so I say you, Oh, so, Colin, you're back
for another year.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Hey Colin, you're still here because it unless your name again.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
Anyway, that's what we did on Christmas.
Speaker 7 (05:02):
Good deal, man, I'm sorry I missed that. That's what
I do with my cousin. I have a double cousin.
She's married, name is Bridget. She's married to a guy,
and she never was good with relationships, but this guy
came along and man, she's perfect. That's perfect for each other.
And every time I see him and go, oh, wow,
you're still here. Yeah, I tell her husband. The husband like, hey,
you're still here. Congratulations.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
I thought I was the only one that had a
double cousin.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, double cousins.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
All right, So here we are after a week. Well,
we got one more game left here in week swiming
team tonight, we got the Rams and the Falcons. With
Rams with nothing to play for. Really, they can improve
their seating. They can't win the division now. And the
Cowboys have one game left against the Giants at noon
(05:48):
on Sunday, Dallas time, and they can improve their record.
They can't improve their record.
Speaker 7 (05:53):
Same thing applies.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
Are they going to try to improve their record? I
think so Okay. By the way, we've got a Brian
Schottenheim press conference coming up at one thirty. Locker rooms
open at twelve forty five, and that's when we start
getting answers on who's going to play this week, where
we probably won't get any answers, but that's when the
question can be asked.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Well, see, we got a couple of days here to
work on this and discuss it, and we'll see how
we practice. That's going to be that opinion.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Yes, what do you think what should should should everyone play?
Should we play to win the game? I mean playing?
We played to win the game? But should we should we?
Speaker 3 (06:34):
It?
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Is that playing or not?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yes, that's not just not just him not just got
a couple of wide receipt Yeah. Man, we got some
studs on this team.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
I don't want any of them to participate necessarily in
this game.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
What if they're incentives on the line, then that's up today.
There you go, and I think a lot of guys.
Maybe I don't know what that is, but that was
my question.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
That's a good question.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
Who has incentives on the line in this.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Last Yeah, I don't know that there is as many
contracts made with production incentives. Maybe games play incentives, but
not like, oh, if you get a thousand yards of receiving,
you get five hundred.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
I think all of them pretty much exceeded. Yeah whatever,
our stars, our playmakers.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
Yeah, Dak got to thirty touchdowns on Thursday, has over
the high round number.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
What year was it? Maybe it was eighty nine?
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Was it?
Speaker 4 (07:30):
One of the running backs had an incentive and Jimmy
didn't play them because he did to save money. I
see Jerry Adam out might have been Paul Palmer, does
that k yes?
Speaker 7 (07:44):
Sense?
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yes, running back? Yeah, that's right. He went to the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Had he had a springed ankle or something.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, those were the good old days. Everybody was honest.
You know what I think everybody from the top of
the deck.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
I think that plays a half.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
You think so?
Speaker 6 (08:02):
Yeah, I think it depends who's playing left tackle. Is
Tyler Smith playing?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Oh yeah right, I don't think it matters who's playing
left tackle?
Speaker 6 (08:13):
Well, no, six sacks talking about the other day, it
wasn't all it was.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
It was pretty much across them. Boy.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah right.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
I just don't want him to because, you know, as
much as he looks like he was having a good
time out there amongst his you know, struggles, and because
that was one of those games you win ugly, you know,
you just go out there, rivalry and all of that.
But no, I didn't like the fact that he had
to work real hard, I mean real hard to win
this game.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Well, and it was it was the numbers.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
It looked like he was having fun though.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Misleading right, sacks six times, hit eleven times, had eight
passes defense mean, battered around right. Yeah, he threw for
three hundred and seven yards and put up thirty points.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
How do you how do you figure that's this is
the kind of offense we have's and that's the way he's
been playing.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
That's how good damn hand be right.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
That's that's how our offense has been. That's what they're
accustomed to.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
Can I ask an important question. I'm sorry I didn't
send you guys to run down today. I'm slipping a
little bit coming back from vacation. I know that disappointed
all of you, Yes, but when it goes down, when
it comes down to Dak and the season that he's had,
and you're running back the season he's had, are you
a little disappointed? After watching all of this football and
(09:28):
to know that with all the production that you have
that you're missing out on the playoffs. And I'm looking
at you, but I'm not really asking you because your
expectation was never that they were going to make the
playoffs anyway. But are you a little disappointed by having
that type of output and still missing the playoffs even.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
Though I didn't think they went, I'm still very disappointed. Yeah,
I still think this this offense was wasted on this
entire season, on what we were doing and the capabilities
that we have offensively.
Speaker 6 (09:55):
Absolutely, and it's wasting a healthy season from the quarterback.
Speaker 7 (09:59):
Thank you guys for saying that. Yeah, I just I
didn't want to be on an island, you know, in
my disappointment, you know, for the production that we had. Offensively,
yea have a twelve.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
Hundred yard right, It's very frustrating to watch all these
other teams. They have these offensive players and everybody's doing well,
but defensively, we are still playing at the bottom of
the bell. And that's just it's extremely frustrating when you
sit up here and you watch, you know, even a
subpar game. You know, this guy's still throwing for three
(10:29):
hundred yards, but it's a subpar game, you know, wasting
all of this effort, wasting all of these numbers on
a defense that really doesn't deserve it.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Although I did see a team that's very, very good
have to score forty one to win.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
I saw that last night as well.
Speaker 7 (10:46):
And so they were up against a team that's pretty
damn good.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Well, yeah, you know, I understand.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
And their defense is you know, they've that defense is
just as bad as anybody in regards to injuries.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Talking about the Nineers the injuries though.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
What an amazing job they've done considering their injuries, starting
with Nick Bosa before the season started, Warner, a Hall
of Fame linebacker. They lost their first round draft pick
Michael Williams, who was playing well as and they had
already lost in free agency Hufanga who's on the number
(11:19):
one defense of the league with the Broncos, and Dre
green Law who's on the number one defense in the
league with the Broncos, and they had already replaced them,
and yet here they are. They're in a position if
they beat Seattle, they get the number one seed in
the NFC.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Player that is correct, and it all goes back to
why can't we do that?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Because you lost players too, but.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Why can't we be why can't we make the playoffs? Right?
In that, man, I got you, and so yeah, I'm
with you. It was saying the same thing.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
They also didn't have their starting quarterback for several games
this year too, and then the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
He is playing great, the Ravens they have a chance
the weekend arisen from the coming weekend. Yes, you know
that's the kind of frustrating stuff that you know, I
want that kind of fortune to where we can somehow
salvage that. And so it goes right back to you know,
our defense as well on what do we do. Players
(12:17):
are coaches in regards to the adjustments that we make,
and so that's gonna be a weird offseason.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
I think the word for everybody when you asked them,
if you could sum it up in one word, it
would be disappointed. You're disappointed with the way that this
season went down. But for people like you from the beginning, Everson,
it was never a this is one of those seasons
where you could you could win it all. It was
always the players that we have. You looked at the
talent that was on the roster and you were never
(12:43):
over evaluating the guys that you had. And this was
before the Quinn Williams trade. Yes, and so when we
talk about where this defense ended up, you have to
make sure that you set the expectation where it needed
to be. Masie Smith was your one technique. You didn't
have much else out the trade. I don't have to
go into the talk about Michael because it is what
(13:04):
it is. But after that, you you're decimated. You had
nothing even before the injuries. It's on the inline as
far as talent is concerned. And I know we're going
to turn our focus towards the draft and all these
other things in the next coming week, but you know,
if you're just real with yourself coming out of camp,
the talent was never there.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
You know, you talk about drafts at this point.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
I could see us using those drafts to get more players.
I mean, would I would try to get more players.
I don't know if I want youth on this team.
Talk about free agency. Free agency, yes, I would like
to get some veterans in here. I really would to
have them all and have them work together the entire
off season, and that way we can be more solidified
(13:51):
for twenty twenty six. I don't know about bringing in
a bunch of young guys. We always have a bunch
of young guys on this team. So I know they'll
be talking about high roile draft picks, but we already
have a lot of talented young guys on this team.
I just want to see, you know, can they be
brought together to realize their potential. And that's something I
(14:13):
thought would happen as we settled in, and it didn't.
It seemed like we just imploded on the defensive side.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Well, and here's the other I don't know about you guys,
but eight eight and one sounds a hell of a
lot better than seven to nine in one to me.
I know it's only one game, but it sounds better.
You could, at least at that point, instead of just saying, god,
(14:41):
we were just bad, you could say, well, if I
had won that game, if one second had gone away
from that other game and I got the ten wins,
you would have said, okay, right, it is torture.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
It ain't killing me.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
But oh, rather do that and suffer than just say
what we weren't worth it?
Speaker 7 (15:05):
Right?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Right? You want to say that there was at least.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Hope, Yeah, yeah, and there was and there was that
was so it would reflect that better. But still we
know history and the history is what is right now. Yeah,
history will be what we're looking at right now.
Speaker 7 (15:22):
Before the season started, Mickey, what did you like? I
know you were asked what I thought.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
I thought ten wins was reasonable?
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Okay, so too, Yeah I thought ten wins were good.
Speaker 7 (15:33):
You thought they were too?
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Yeah? I did, I should did.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I thought the offense would be good enough to get
them there.
Speaker 6 (15:40):
Wow, And you think about it, I mean, even looking
at what happened this season, the Arizona game is the
one that I mean, when you look at what those teams,
all the opponents records are right now, I mean, yeah, Carolina,
the Caroline's playing for division title on Saturday afternoon, okay,
and so they're better than what people expected.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
Them to be.
Speaker 6 (16:01):
And it was a road game, okay, Arizona at home
that Monday game. That if you win that game and
everything else stays the same on the season. Now you're
playing to be nine to seven and one. You're just
a half game basically off of a ten win.
Speaker 7 (16:18):
Season right now. And I agree, and I agree especially
that I guess when I look even think about the
Arizona game. We were never really in that game.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
Right, we were getting I'm not saying I'm not saying
that it doesn't even make any sense. I'm not saying
that was a game that slipped away.
Speaker 7 (16:31):
That a game. So the game for me, the game
for me is the green Bay game and the green
Bay game because I thought in that game you played
well enough to pull off the victory. And there were
times where and we have argued back and forth about
Shoddy's decisions not to go for it to go forward
in certain instances, I thought the green Bay was the
green Bay game was the one that if you get
(16:53):
that game, then everything about your season is completely different
at this juncture right now. If you pull that, yeah,
I would say it.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
Was just too many things were able to happen after
green Bay that could have remedied that time. And so
if you're gonna look at games that you could have won,
if we don't get the drops, we could have won
the first game, no.
Speaker 7 (17:13):
And if maybe all of that is what we're doing
right now. But I'm like that Green Bay game. Even
if you win that game and you lose the Arizona,
you're still in better footing as far as the playoffs,
is con.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
I think I think the games are more consequential as
we got towards the end of the season. True, I
wouldn't necessarily pick a game. So you know, at the
beginning of the season, Uh, those games that really made
a difference, Like you said, there was the only game
first of us at home, and you know that's I
think half the season was already behind us then, so we.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Had a chance to really make so quarters.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
At that time back up quarterback for them.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
So it just you know, to me, that was much
more egregious.
Speaker 6 (17:52):
All right, let me ask you this at the beginning
of the season, all right, we were talking about all this,
this six game stretch from Thanksgiving week until Christmas Day
at the beginning of the season, would you have taken
three and three, yes, a three and three record against
the likes of Philadelphia, Kansas City, Detroit, Minnesota, the Chargers
(18:15):
in Washington, knowing what that Washington was in the conference
championship game last year.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
If I recall, if I recall, I was not I
was not afraid of those three games. I think I
said something like we would we would have whethered I was,
we would have uh polished some things off up until
that moment, and I thought that we would be prepared,
(18:38):
more prepared than anyone thought we would be for those
three games. If I'm not mistaken. That was my thought process. Yeah,
we were going to take our licks before that and
then we were going to be ready for that stretch
and that it kind of worked out that way just.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
And as it turned out, they went three and three
or that six game stretch. Now a lot of that
had to do with what happened in Kansas City, what
happened in Washington, in Minnesota as far as injuries go
and stuff.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
So yeah, well you were looking at and you're talking
about that that stretch of the season. You're looking at
a commander's team that played, you know, well into playoffs
last season, so you thought they were going to be different.
You thought things were going to be completely different, different
with the Lions Kansas City. So obviously three and three
that would have been the best case scenario. But no
(19:25):
way you could have known that your defense would have
been this woefully bad Before the season. I mean, we
were talking about Chicago, like, man, we should just go
to Chicago and run over those guys. And now you
look at the end of the season, Chicago is pretty legit. Right,
Maybe you could look at the Carolina Panthers and say
maybe they weren't. They were not what you thought, you
know at that point, and still they are back and
(19:46):
forth as far as their season is concerned. But not Chicago.
Chicago is a damn good team.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Right now, what is Carolina now? Eight and eight? A
chance to win the division?
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Right right?
Speaker 7 (19:58):
It speaks Yeah, this thing the moment that we wasted
here with all the parody, right, yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
This was our time. This was it to me, we
really wasted a golden opportunity because no one expected much
from us, but we did not realize that no one
got much.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
From the entire NFL in regards to parody and who's
at the top.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
And will say this, if Quinn Williams was on this
team when they played Carolina, they would have beat Carolina.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
Yeah. Well, then when you're talking about parody and all
of that, this super Bowl, if you could pick two
teams to play in the Super Bowl, I bet there
are two teams that didn't. One of them is probably
didn't play in the Super Bowl last year. And it's
going to be a team out of complete left field
that's going to be in that in the running Jacksonville
(20:48):
to me, and I'm just saying, like, Jacksonville is one
of those teams that I never in a million years
would have thought that Jacksonville would turn out to be
the China. No, that's what I'm saying. So so imagine
a man ain't meet again. You understand what I'm saying.
So it's like the way that the league has gone
this year. And even looking at San Francisco last night,
(21:10):
I was saying, this may be the year for Shanahan
to finally get one, because you're not gonna run into
a Kansas city.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
Everything's up in the air.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
Everything is so up in the airir of this season
blew it.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
That's why we blew a supporting Yes, that's why we
blew it.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
All right, we continue with more mix shots.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
At the moment it was sobering.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
Yeah, it was right.
Speaker 10 (21:31):

of ordinary Americans who did the extraordinary. Get your tickets

Speaker 6 (23:41):
All right, we are approaching the end of this season
on Sunday at noon against the New York Football Giants,
and welcome back to mix Shots. Bill Jones, Everson Walls,
Hecma Harrison, and the star of the show, Mickey Spagnola,
who was spending Christmas in the Nation's capital.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
I did, and then I stayed.
Speaker 6 (24:04):
You did, Yeah, you didn't come back on the charter.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
No.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
I flew up on my own.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Ice was on. I was on your ice.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
I saw it.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
I was chasing. I went.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
I walked by this huge building or what's that? And
it was US customs and ice. Wow that, and I said,
stay away from that. There never know when they just
have something to do.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
Let's let's change the subject.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
You were in d C.
Speaker 7 (24:36):
What was the reason.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Just to spend Christmas together?
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Okay, So we flew up a good stuff.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Went to the museum on Wednesday and Friday, and what
a good idea game. On Thursday, I just decided that.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
You went to all the museums and those two.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
On one on Wednesday Friday. I'll do like that man
walked by the house on Friday.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
You saw there East Wing?
Speaker 4 (25:04):
What wasn't there?
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (25:07):
Did y'all stay near the mall?
Speaker 4 (25:08):
We were at the j W. The team stayed at
the j W Marria, which is right there.
Speaker 6 (25:15):
I love that. Back when they used to see it's like.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
A six ten minute walk to the White House and
six ten minute walk to the mall. You can walk
the mall. So we went to on Friday, went to
the African American Museum of History and Culture, which I
took a picture for you because there was a display
(25:40):
of Eddie Robinson.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
I don't know if you've been there, but there was
a display of him. And I've got one for John Wooton,
who was in that group picture when they were m Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
When they were offending Bill Russell.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
Muhammad Ali for would you like to explain John Wooton?
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Yeah, John uh played for the Cleveland Browns. He was
the starting guard during Jim Brown's career, and he went
on to become a player agent. He became a cowboy
front office guy and then went to Philadelphia as their
personnel director and then was the head.
Speaker 12 (26:26):
Of the.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
Fritz Pollard Fritz Pollard John still still going. Yeah, give
him a call and later anyway, I saw the picture.
I've seen the picture. It's it's a great pick.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
The iconic photo of Muhammad Ali. Was he signing not
to go to war?
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Yeah, he makes the press Yeah, they did have the
press conference because he was going to get punished for.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Yeah, being and they had all those super behind him
giving him support.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
I think that Bobby Mitchell.
Speaker 13 (27:01):
Willie Davis was there, Packers, Yeah, Gramley State, Bobby Mitchell, Yes,
was there, Kareem was there, Bill Russell was there.
Speaker 8 (27:11):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
And and then then you're gonna have to help me
with this O. Jay's attorney, uh Cock Johnny, Yes, he was.
He was in that picture as a young Boston Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Yeah, I should have known that. Yeah, yeah, I was.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
But see what happened a couple of years ago.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
It might have been.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Jason kept the team there after the game against Washington
and we went to the museum. Yes, and we got
a tour for the whole group, right, and guy was,
you know, lecturing or whatever. And we got to the
sports part and it's like, oh man, look at this
and they got the picture of John Carlos and and Smith.
Speaker 7 (27:59):
Yes, the Olympic picture, the Olympic.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Picture, and there's a statue they have replica, and I'm going,
oh man, I took the picture. I'm watching the video
up there. And it was like, uh, but we got
to catch a plane.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
We gotta go.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
And I said, wait a minute.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
The best part, the sports part. I must to spend
an hour in there.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
You can't. And it's it's it's layered, like yes, I
went with my family. I took my mom. It's a
d C and we only got to the bottom floor.
I thought that was just me. No, no, no, let's see.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
I kept saying.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
I kept saying, we gotta go, we gotta Oh. I
know what's up there. I don't want to miss it
this time. But you know what the cool thing was
to see all the people, their father's mothers talking to
their kids through the history. I mean, we live this right,
and uh it is it is amazing. Yeah, well worth
(28:53):
the time.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
Spent there.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
So anyway, that's what I did for Christmas.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Good job.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Uh heck, there was no rundown this morning. But I
want to leave it to you for you if there
was something that you would have for us to talk
about in this second segment, what do you think you
would like to talk about?
Speaker 7 (29:10):
Man, I'm so conflicted this morning about everything going Dallas
Cowboys right now. I got an opportunity to talk to
my uncle over the weekend. Joe Green is my uncle,
Lady Jo So so before I said, I I got
a ton of uncles. Let me let me make that clear.
And I was talking to him about I made the
(29:30):
mistake of saying and having in the conversation about teams
playing up to play the Cowboys. And he thought that
was absurd, and he said, you know, nobody played. Nobody
gets up to play you guys. He's like, when I played,
you know, when we were playing, I got up to
play the Cleveland Browns. You know that was our game.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
That's crazy that the rivalry is between Cleveland and Pitts,
Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
Speaker 7 (29:57):
But he but he even mentioned but he even mentioned
Cincinnati as well, and saying, you know, the Bengals games
like that, those were more important. But when we were
talking about the playoffs and I was said the same
thing about missing the playoffs. His thing was in those
years that they were, you know, had their playoff runs,
you knew when you got into the playoffs when you
didn't have enough to sustain and stay right. And he
(30:18):
was like, that's the worst feeling going to the playoffs
knowing that you don't have enough firepower to compete. So
would you rather be in the playoffs without enough firepower?
How long do you think? How long do you think
you guys would have stayed in the playoffs with the
defense that you have, And it just kind of resonates.
It's one thing to make the playoffs, but it's another
thing to be right back at the house because you
(30:39):
don't have the talent, as.
Speaker 6 (30:41):
We've discovered yet you can make the playoffs, and if
your stays not very long, it feels like it went
by in a flash, just like that.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
And let's be real, Uncle mean Joe, Yeah, I know
he is what he is. But when you get to
the playoffs, everyone does get up, especially for the playoffs
to play the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Everyone tries to play their best.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
He says that because they were the freaking Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
So yes, he can say that.
Speaker 7 (31:08):
Because there said I didn't think that was absurd either,
So anyway, thank you.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
So it's not absurd.
Speaker 5 (31:19):
They're going to get in the players, and especially these
days when the Internet and social media is so enthralled
and in regards to rivalries and everybody's trying to make
their own point and things of that nature. So the
hate for the Cowboys may have grown on one side.
I'm sorry, the empathy for the Cowboys may have grown
on one side, but the hate for the Cowboys has
(31:41):
certainly risen because of social media.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Well, and I think it the teams that were lesser
teams got up for the Cowboys, right, That's what happened.
The teams that were good, they were well, were on
the same level, right, right, But.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
They kind of really enjoyed it one day.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
They enjoyed that a little bit, Yes they did. I mean,
your quarterback doesn't get a whole bunch of undue criticism,
unwarranted criticism than any other quarterback because he's a Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Just be real about that.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
Are there any playoff teams for you guys? As far
as your projections looking at who's gonna make it and
who Isn't that you're a little you're a little surprised
by their lack of fire power going into the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
That the defenses, they've never been like this when they've
had their playoff runs, especially when they have an offens
is clicking like this one. Uh yeah, Yeah, I'd say
the Niners. Uh, they tease you just like the Cowboys
were doing two years ago. You score a lot of points,
you can be a little bit inconsistent on the defensive side,
(32:56):
and that's kind of what you're looking at.
Speaker 7 (32:58):
That doesn't bode well for playoff football at all. Yeah,
for me, it would be. And just picking the AFC team,
the Bills. The Buffalo Bills are shocking me right now.
You know the m v P Josh Allen. Obviously he's
having the herculean effort to win games, but just the
lack of talent that they have a certain positions.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Wide receiver, yeah, was their best receiver.
Speaker 6 (33:26):
I apparently blew it on Keon Coleman. He can't even
get active. He's a healthy screen.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
He's a head case.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
I didn't realize he and I pride myself on the
draft for trying to figure out that very thing. And
he seemed like a smart guy, and he seemed like,
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
Was on good yeah, you know, because you know everything
that he thinks is so cute or whatever it is,
it ain't working from because at standpoint CD, my man,
you know this ain't well. You know, I remember they
had a picture of him, a video of him, I
mean just dancing his butt off in pregame when he
(34:06):
was a healthy scratch.
Speaker 7 (34:07):
Lack of awareness, that's all that is. I mean a
lot of guys that just don't have it. That's maybe
teaching him how to be a pro, and he's that's
the that's a horrible learning lesson for a guy like
that that should be.
Speaker 6 (34:18):
Impact late first round draft pick last year, in his
second year, he should be the guy there is, you know,
and I understand he's not a fast guy. You know,
separation is an issue. But talented man, yes he is.
That's why I was intrigued by him.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
So sometimes you can, you know, you can fool people into, hey,
this guy's got this energy and all that. Well, some
of that energy might be unnecessary. You know, it's the
where he's he's making more out of what's going.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
To transition to the NFL is more than just what
you see on the field, right There could be other
things going on there.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
He's got to have somebody in this corner.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
I'm sure seeing he's tried to talk to him, I
would imagine, but he's got to have some grown man
around him somewhere to let him know what's going on.
But it doesn't it seems like, I say, too late,
obviously too late for this year. But you just don't
want that reputation, and right now he has that reputation.
That's something that people actually thought. That's how CD might
(35:16):
be coming into the league. I mean, we knew about
him in Oklahoma because right Oklahoma.
Speaker 6 (35:20):
Gassawa, there was a track record of three years of
him where how tough he was and how he was,
you know, doing all the right things and stuff. But anyway,
answer your question to the obvious ones, also are whoever's
going to win the NFC South and whoever's going to
win the AFC North too. There's not a lot of
(35:41):
hope for either one of those.
Speaker 7 (35:43):
Now that the what was you said it was a
twenty three years that the NFC East had been won
by different twenty one.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
Two thousand and four. Which Eagles did it?
Speaker 7 (35:55):
Mickey would have kill you? Paining you? Let me say
killed paying you for the Philadelphia Eagles to play in
the back to back Super Bowls.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Oh will it pain me?
Speaker 7 (36:07):
Yeah? But I don't care today. Just care today. I
know you don't care, but just care today.
Speaker 5 (36:13):
What I prefer it there today?
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Just put that on.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
I told you after watching the Netflix thing on the
NFC East and I saw inside of Sirianni. I had
a different opinion.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
And see my daughter is like no, him and my
daughter they're like, no, don't feel that, don't And I
was like, man, well, first, I've always liked how you
run the team, but you're right when you watch the
NFC East thing, Yeah, it's it's it just shows you
a different light because we always see him as this ericant.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Little Yes, yes, it's like Napoleon.
Speaker 7 (36:55):
I don't like him at all.
Speaker 6 (36:57):
Yeah, but you know what I like.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
And then they showed it after the game, I think,
celebration in the locker room would they win?
Speaker 6 (37:06):
Was it thirteen twelve twelve? Right, Buffalo Missigs.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Celebrating like it was the end of.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
The world, and well he was coming back home and.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
He basically he basically was saying, I don't want any negativity.
We won, right, and you know what, that's their season.
They have not dominated, but somehow they have a recipe
with success. Yeah, it would pay, and they won because
the quarterback didn't throw the ball.
Speaker 7 (37:32):
It would pain me. It would pain it.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
It would pay.
Speaker 7 (37:34):
It would It would upset me to see them continuously build.
They lose their offensive coordinator. Uh, he goes off and
gets a head coaching job, and they get right back
to the super Bowl. It would it really would one.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
It would pay.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
It would pay me because I do not see it
at all. I don't see it.
Speaker 7 (37:54):
And I didn't see it at all last season, and
somehow they pulled it off last season. I thought it
did you. I thought Jalen Hurd.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
The way Barkley was running, and the last even.
Speaker 7 (38:03):
With even with the way that Barkley was running, I
thought that it would be on Jalen Hurts to make
a throw and.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
The defense man and he just last year was all
going good, Yeah they are, So that's that was That's
what I was looking at from last year.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Barkley running the ball and the defense.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
They didn't even have forty plays yesterday. I think it
was thirty seven. They ended up in cold.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
And that's that's buffalo style. And they went in they
won with the buffalo style.
Speaker 6 (38:34):
Okay, what do you want to do in the last segment,
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
Man's take a break. I have to figure.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
Talk about he's still mad. If you beat the Giants,
you finished five and one in the NFC East with
the best division record.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Wow, that's because that is.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
The Eagles are going to be for it.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
That does not let me feel it.
Speaker 6 (38:57):
So when we come back, crown crowned the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
We did it.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Have a read. I'm good. I'm over waiting on something
to do.
Speaker 7 (41:27):
Go talk to the lady that does all that man.
Speaker 6 (41:29):
Yeah, yeah, anybody know her.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Alone, let her relax.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
We could we could promote I think Tuesday there at
the at the stadium, they're having a Battle of the
Bands for the Cotton Bowl.
Speaker 14 (41:47):
Oh okay, right, all right, like like the band Grambling
gonna be here, the Battle of the Bands of the
teams in which is Ohio State in Miami?
Speaker 3 (41:59):
Oh okay, the that would be so boy? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (42:02):
Can they not bring Grambling in for it?
Speaker 7 (42:09):
You cannot say the expectation is completely different, Can I
say that?
Speaker 4 (42:14):
Well, they're not going to go out in March. They're
just gonna.
Speaker 7 (42:19):
Music much at the same time, Shout out to everybody
that's gonna be there at the Battle of the Yeah,
I apologize my co host State, you know, shout out
you got.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
That's gonna be terrible.
Speaker 6 (42:37):
By the way, since you brought it up, Yes, it
is so absolutely ridiculous this college football playoff and how
they wait three or four weeks before they start playing that.
You're right, yeah, absolutely a continuation yeah, you got it.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
These teams are they haven't.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Played right, so you have no idea, and.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
You know they're not practicing hard because they don't want
to get anybody hurt.
Speaker 5 (43:02):
So did we have any issues in regards of that.
As far as players that you know opting out, a
lot of that going on.
Speaker 6 (43:09):
Well, if they're not playing in the in the playoffs,
they're all opting out. So if you transfer Portal playing
for the draft, you.
Speaker 5 (43:17):
Me a player, I would say, you know what, I'm
not gonna I'm gonna opt out, even though.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
I put up with it.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
Saturday to the starting wide receivers Missouri, we're not playing.
Speaker 5 (43:30):
Now that now that this is this is Al game
that was that was a bowl game. I'm talking about
the playoffs. We have players opting out.
Speaker 6 (43:37):
No, there there are probably some backup players. In fact,
the backup quarterback for Texas last year who went to Duke,
he opted out before the playoffs started. Okay, actually I
guess the year before there was two years ago.
Speaker 4 (43:51):
If you're playing for something, these guys not everyone though, right,
not everybody all, I think the majority of.
Speaker 5 (43:57):
The majority of course, yes, but but and when it
comes to bowl games, yes, but when it comes to
the tournament, do you have some players.
Speaker 7 (44:05):
Opting out, especially if you're a locked like a first
round it's a lot of money on the loan.
Speaker 6 (44:12):
Yeah, I don't think you're not. I don't think that
you'll see a starting player, but there are backup players
who I'm sure have gone into the transfer portal.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
We've seen starting players opt out, haven't we? On the
playoff with the tournament.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
I haven't recognized it as much as just the meaningless
Bowl game.
Speaker 6 (44:32):
Okay, yeah, right, which, by the way, think about the
Cotton Bowl game last year. You had Ohio State playing
Texas in a semi final game last year in the
Cotton Bowl, and here you got Ohio State playing in
a quarterfinal game against Miami. And as you watch that game,
which is New Year's Eve, and think in terms of
the Cowboys in the draft, there are some prospects and
(44:54):
I'll try to make a list by Wednesday on the
Wednesday Show guys to look forward to on Ohio State
and Miami. From a draft standpoint, there's only one name.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
You got to a point out. That guy's name is
Baine rhyme rhymes with pain.
Speaker 7 (45:13):
Okay, there he is. I don't know this guy.
Speaker 6 (45:16):
All right, so we'll have a report on that on Wednesday. Okay,
watch them.
Speaker 7 (45:20):
Okay, Chris, you got any tickets in the game, Chris Bean.
Speaker 6 (45:25):
Even but even how about yesterday you had? Uh? The
key play in that Ohio State Texas game is uh
Texas was down on the on the goal line and
Sark ran the ridiculous sweep play and so which put
him into a fourth down play. And then Youwers got
(45:46):
sacked fumbles and Jack saw Your runs for a touchdown
ninety yards to seal the win for Ohio State. Well,
yesterday Jack saw Your had an interception and Quinn Ewers,
by the way, in his second NFL start, beats a
Tampa Bay team quarterback by Baker Mayfield twenty to seventeen.
Speaker 7 (46:03):
I heard to say a little bit, what but Quinn,
you're as beat Baker Mayfield?
Speaker 6 (46:09):
Oh no, uh Baker in Tampa Bay this last half
of the year. What is hey? They're arrow is pointed down.
But they still got a shot against the airline Onaday.
Speaker 7 (46:19):
But with on.
Speaker 6 (46:20):
Losing record, by the way, there seven and nine.
Speaker 4 (46:23):
And the Saints are exploding in a.
Speaker 6 (46:26):
Row right right, so wait found quite a second.
Speaker 3 (46:30):
They found their quarterback the Panther.
Speaker 6 (46:32):
The Cowboys are seven eight and one. The Panthers are
eight and eight, and the Bucks are seven and nine
and they're playing for a division title. So Jerry needs
to petition division move into the NFC.
Speaker 7 (46:44):
Soon as we get over there, they'll improve and it'll
be by the way.
Speaker 6 (46:48):
You talk about a team improving in the NFC South,
look out for the Saints. Look out for Kellen Moore's
Saints and their quarterback Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 7 (46:57):
Guys, they beat Tennessee. So let's just be a but
they got is it five in a row row?
Speaker 6 (47:03):
Yeah? Okay, order all with him and a lot of
it against the n f C South or the a
f C.
Speaker 4 (47:11):
Seth starting sooner.
Speaker 7 (47:13):
Shud door through two interceptions and they still be.
Speaker 6 (47:16):
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 7 (47:18):
Let's name for Frisco and all black. Uh, I got distracted?
Speaker 6 (47:25):
All right, you got a final comment.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
I'm good.
