a victory Clorsday edition because it's already Thursday of work week,
getting ready for the Lions Thursday night. Boy, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
The page turns very quickly as we get into the
month of December.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Man, I love it. I love it.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
And guys, I hope y'all had a happy Thanksgiving and
ate plenty of turkey and dressing and got an opportunity
to enjoy your families but also enjoy that game on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
And that game on Friday. Yeah, it was a lot.
It was a lot for Bill. The game on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
It's a lot going I was talking about the Eagle
game on Friday. Yeah, I mean but significant. It's a
repercussions here.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
It's a lot. It's a lot going on.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
But it all started with a man a performance by
the Dallas Cowboys. Guys that I cannot wait to get
into Mickey's book of Ballding over here and all the
notes that he's taken and everything that you wrote down
during the game.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Come on, let's get into it.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
And by the way, Everson was plenty to be here.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Be here tomorrowson, You're not fooling us. We know what
you're doing, flat tire. We know what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
A flat tire.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
Get out and fix it, anybody.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
My biggest fear is getting to my truck in fighting
a flat tire. So I'm not going to say anything
about ever since having a flat tire, I'd have done
the same thing for.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Oh God's got there and get it done.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
There you go, now it's raining. In fact, I've got
a nail in my left front tire. I've I've been going, Okay,
do I it looks like it's pretty sick.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
That's a ticking time bomb. Billet taken care of, all right.
The mayor of South Lake somebody called this guy.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
The air and the tires not gone down? Am I
good to go? Could I just go with it?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Or no you can't. You can go get it fixed?
All right?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
I got some time this afternoon. I'm going to stop
my discount. Yes, there you go. All right, Now let's
get into the important business at hand. Man. What a
Thursday it was. What a great Thanksgiving topped by a
cowboy victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
And they tore up that turkey afterwards.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's always literally always a good part on Thanksgiving Day
when they are turkey legs in the locker room after
the game, I think there was. It was a three
leged turkey.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
Everybody had a leg and then somebody picked up the
carcass in their hands off.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
That was Ferguson.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Yeah, the picture of he violated the turkey, so I will.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Leave look that was That was one of the better
performances I think I've seen in quite some time offense, defense,
special teams.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
All the way around.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
I think it was awfully impressive that they could do
that on a short week against an opponent like the
Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. So yeah, that kind
of convinced me that something special is brewing here. As

(05:07):
I wrote in my headline that you know, now you've
got some expectations that can they keep this up going forward?
And got a week to prepare for this Detroit game.
It's not easy having to go there, but at least
you feel like there's possibilities down the road.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I want to talk about those possibilities, and it's been
Dak Prescott in his performance for me going ahead to
head with Patrick Mahomes, that's what everybody was talking about,
and Dak, you know he stood up under pressure like
he always does. Three hundred and twenty yards twenty seven
of thirty nine, and ceedee Lamb, who had all the
attention for all the wrong reasons because of drops in

(05:51):
against Philly Man. What a way to come back in
a tone for those mistakes. Seven catches one hundred and
twelve yards in a touchdown. Now said he was gonna
have two, but he only had one. But either way,
my picks to click was right on. And since we
all celebrate our genius on this show, I think I
almost nailed the score too. Ever, since not here to
back that.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Up, I was going to ask him, dude, text.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
But that's okay, But that's all right, it's all facts.
Just trust me, now, believe me later on. Okay, thirty
one twenty eight is that what you had?

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Now? I had thirty three twenty seven something.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
Another okay, you remember what you had twenty six twenty three,
So I had to spread right three points.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I had forty eight forty six, which was the score
of mahomes first college game at AT and T Stadium,
his Feast of Fenst. Yet he lost his first NFL
game at at and T Stadium.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
This is about time. It's about time.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Kyler needs to get in line next for losing the
game at AT and T Stadium.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
But my pics to click, I had two I had.
I had Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott. Is my pics
to click. And if I would have told you Patrick
Mahome is going to go to twenty three of thirty four,
four touchdown passes in the game, whod you fought? The
Cowboys win that.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Game until Dak went twenty seven of thirty nine for
three hundred and twenty yards and two touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
And then Dak also had a pick mixed in there.
He did he spotted seven nothing get out of the
way or right, yeah he did.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
That's just like the Philadelphia game. If you're gonna fall
behind by twenty one, dude in the first quarter, then
you got the.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Time to come back pick up.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
And so I mean, look, the stats on Dak are
just like you just repeat it.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
We're there.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
But again ceedee Lamb and his performance and George Pickens
And somebody's got to tell me why George Pickens didn't
start the game, Mickey, Somebody's got to tell me.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
Schottenheimer said it was whatever they were in they started
with I wrote it down. By the way, they started
with a full back in the game, maybe two tight
ends in a full back, So yeah, there was I
think there might.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Have been only one receiver.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Oh no, they had for Noy in there as the
other wide receiver. They were going to run the football.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
So we have packages that do not include George Pickens
and he didn't start the game. So okay, hey, that's
just that was my biggest question about the game and
why he wasn't on the field for those two plays.
But again, I think that performance by your wide receivers. Man,
you gotta love you gotta love that you got two
viable threats that everybody has to look out for.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
And oh we got to have four, right, that's right.
Fear foursome here as Nate and Frisco is making his
way to ever since, see big smile on his face.
Does have a big smile on his face, and rightly.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
So, good morning, good afternoon.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
No one likes to talk about Thanksgiving Day performances as
much as Nate Newton does. How you do, how you doing,
Good to see you, Nate.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Doing our arms, Yes, good to see you guys. You
guys want to continue the conversation. Yes, sir, I was
telling great. Tell Nate you okay, you good, coming go
on talking about too great.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Who was your pick to click making? Quinn Williams, Okay,
that worked.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Went out on the limb on that one, and you
picked Lamb.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
I did, but that was a big limb. Yeah, I
mean got after that, after the bad game. I'm just
I'm just saying. I mean a lot of people shine
away from that.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
A glimpse at the play sheet. They were going to
feed Lamb. I mean, hey, they were feeding Lamb on
Turkey Day.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
Coach Shotinghahmer set all week what the plan was with
CD and he.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
He said, leon for that first long drive for the touchdown,
it was all pretty much Lamb all the way, yes, sir,
to the end zone.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Great, great Nate. How was your Thanksgiving? Man? It was beautiful?

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Man.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
I like you all conversation man, good, good, good. You
know picks the click? How about you make with your
what you was? We know you picked obvious?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (10:00):
I had two picks to click, I had my homes
in Prescott.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Wow, I'm leaving here with something.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yes, that was what was that? That had to be
for me to be right? Both of them had to
have great days. And both of them had great days.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
Because he had forty points for each team.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Right, wow, wow.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
But we did have the first pass, right, we all
said it's going to c D Yes, and it did.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yes? Okay, man, what was that was his pick to click?

Speaker 4 (10:34):
We don't don't remember brother leave for one of these
few minutes, anybody, Wow, it wasn't Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
I don't remember which one it was, Yeah, some another.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
I think it was Javonte Williams. Yeah, because he kept
talking about how they had to run the football.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
And they ran in a little bit they did.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
I mean Javante had seventeen carries for fifty nine yards.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
He should have picked.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
How about Malik Davis with a forty three yard touchdown run?

Speaker 4 (11:02):
That was That was just a great game that I
think the Cowboys played.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
I mean, it's nice game. I enjoyed watching it.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Man, Like I talked to this gentleman here a lot
off air. I'm just enjoying the season.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
It's been. It's been a nice season.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
The mid season acquisitions is starting to work out, and
I'm enjoying it.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Man.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Has it changed the expectations of this team since the
acquisitions and the success that they've had. No, you know,
I'm still that guy that's I'm going to wait and see.
This is a year where I think coach Schottenheimer design
deserves to not be judged so harshly. Is his first year.
I mean, he can talk about ost moos is all
they want. This is his first year been the NFL

(11:45):
head coach. He's gonna make a few mistakes, he's gonna
learn and he's but he's got the personnel. I mean,
I think they've given him the right people. All they
got to do is stay healthy, and I'm somebody, especially
within the trenches, stay healthy and let's just see where
this thing go. I mean, well, if they make the playoffs,

(12:07):
won't be no bigger cheerleader than me. If they don't
make the playoffs, I still still it won't be no
bigger cheerleader than me.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Let me ask you, Nate, as we turn the calendar
to December. Now, when uh with Jimmy Johnson, did he
once you got to December, did he spell it out
for the players at all? What the playoff picture is?

Speaker 2 (12:30):
He would tell.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
You briefly, once we started winning, once we knew who
we were, he was he would just you know, tell
us why we would need this upcoming game. Uh, you know,
uh if it was a home feeld, you know, situation
of who you are. I mean, just little things. He
wouldn't never get too far away from the game at hand.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
He did not believe. Uh you know.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
He was one of them biing guys that you know,
don't don't eat the cheese, don't for all for the right,
but don't drink the kool aid.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
And you know.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
But he but he would, especially with like three or
four weeks left, like now it's things getting down to
the to the end.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
He was getting in the money time.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Yeah, he would say, hey, fellas, this is why we
need this game, this is why this is so big.
And at this point here, every game is a big game.
You know, the Cowboys that put themselves in a position
now where every game is a big game. The media
can't make it no bigger than what's already is in

(13:32):
your mind.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
The reason I asked you is I was listening to
Rich Ginnon on NFL radio and he was talking about
playing for Marty Schottenneimer, and he said that one of
the things he appreciated about Marty and he didn't make
a big deal about it. But once they got to December, okay,
and now it's money time, and Marty had his saying,
now you're playing with my money, okay, And he said

(13:55):
that Marty at the beginning of the week, he just
real quick, like he say, put up on board or whatever.
This is the playoff picture. This is what we're looking
at right, yes, And so from that perspective coming out
of Thanksgiving weekend, now before you're looking at okay, wild
card race whatever. But the first job of a team

(14:15):
is to win their own division.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
And now if you look at the path for the
Cowboys as we enter December with five weeks left, really
the best chance for the Cowboys to make the playoffs
is to win their division. Yes, because of what's going
on in the NFC West with all of them. Whether
the Rams got beat yesterday by Carolina, but they've got
nine wins. San Francisco's got nine wins, Seattle's got nine wins.

(14:38):
And then you look at the NFC North with Chicago
beating Philadelphia on Friday, they got the best record in
the entire conference right now. But with the Packers record,
you got the lot you're playing the Lions this week,
but there's only three wild card spots left and the
Packers as well as the two NFC West teams. It's
tough catching either any of those teams, but Philadelphia is

(15:01):
in your sights now, and with the Eagles losing to
the Bears, Eagles basically the way it breaks down for
the Cowboys the rest of the way. If the Cowboys
go five and Oher went out, the Eagles have to
go four and one to win the division. If the
Cowboys go four and one, the Eagles have to go

(15:21):
three and two. So what you're looking at right now
is if the Cowboys go four and one and the
Eagles go two and three, only when two of their
last five games Cowboys win the NFC East. That's the
best path for the Cowboys to win to make the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
So you're to answer your question about Jimmy if you
remember Nate the ninety three season, you lost the two
games in a row to Atlanta and then Miami on Thanksgiving,
You're sitting there at seven and four, and he basically
came out and said we got to run the table
to win the division. And they didn't run the table

(16:01):
until overtime of the fifth straight win against the Giants. Remember, yes,
and that allowed you to win the division, because if
you lost that, you're not winning the division and you
wouldn't have had a home field. And I remember afterwards
Darryl Johnston said, I don't know if he ever could

(16:24):
have coached us any harder than he did during that
five game streak because he knew we needed to win
every game. And as it turned out, those were his
last five regular season games with the Cowboys. And I
remember Darryl telling me that that it would have been
hard for him to come back and coach you guys

(16:47):
that hard all over again in another season.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
One thing about the better coaches in the league, you know,
like I tell people certain things out on debate on debate,
when it comes to coach Johnson, one thing he one
thing he had an ultra focused man. And I don't
know if he went back in this in his in
his office and laughed after some of the he said

(17:17):
he said, you know, I bet he did.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
He had an ultra focused man.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
That was like everything he talked about was always about
the game. It was always leading to the game, it
was always you know, it's like each guy he had
he had to have the memory where you don't forget nothing,
a photo or photographic memory because.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Each guy he had a snapshot and each guy.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
You could listen to him because I used to follow
and he would say this to Leon Ledder, he would
say this to Charles or he wouldn't even speak to
j Novichik.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
That's just a relationship they had.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
They'll both just nod their head at one another. He'll
have something different from me. It's like, but it all
led to the game. All was about the game. So
I loved I loved him now, hated him then, but
loved him now because I understand who he was and
it's about winning. It's it's it's about winning, and that's

(18:15):
the only thing that if coach shottenhamuch if I can
give him any it's about winning coach.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
And people say, yeah, well that's obvious. No it's not,
because if it was, if it.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Was obvious, Kansas City wouldn't be in a position A
in and Philadelphia wouldn't be falling off this ledge.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Well, so you got to understand it's about your division.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
If you if you go back to yesterday, how he
started his meeting with the players and basically when he
was asked the very question about the NFC East the playoffs,
and he said to us before the practice, he said,
the most important thing for us is today's practice, tomorrow's practice,

(18:58):
in the next game. I don't want them thinking about
what they got to do to do this, this or this.
And during the practice they normally do their stretch and
they do these little drills running through the whatever you
call it, and then they go usually break.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Into their individual drills.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
Well this time they didn't break into individual drills. He
had a team meeting, gathered everybody up and talk to
him before the practice, and the last thing you could
hear from where we were standing, he yells out, let's
have a such and such good practice today and under

(19:43):
no uncertain terms was the word before good.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
You can fill in the blanks.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
And that was the message to the team about doing
a good practice on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
You know, I'll say it this right quickly because I
know we need to go to a break. Is Back
in our day, and I hate to compare back in
our day, it was not allowed to have a bad
You were not allowed to have a bad practice, right,
you know, because it just wasn't gonna happen either. Troy

(20:20):
was gonna stop it and look at Jimmy. Jimmy was
gonna stop and like, hey, fellas, this ain't how you win.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Start practice over.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
So but now it's so many regulations and rules, so
you can get halfway through practice.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
You ain't starting to practice over now.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
You may stop them and try to learn them that
things are going bad. But back in the day, now,
this is how we're gonna do it today, start this
over if we can be over halfway through the practice
and I We're like, oh lord, we gotta get this
right because we already had something planned out for practice,
so we got to get this right now.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Well, I figured it was either him yelling or Troy,
I mean Troy dak right, and it ended up being him.
So he set the tone for what they were doing yesterday,
even though they weren't in pads.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
So you got to pray.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
I think his word to them, just keep your head down,
keep working day by day by day.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Yeah, okay, we're just getting started here on a victory
Monday or is it Thursday? Edition of a mixed shot?
So much to get to with Nate Newton filling in
Forever Soon Walls next.

All right, heck Mat Harrison doing the honors. Everson Walls
usually has our reids coming back. We speaking of Pro Bowlers,
we got a six time Pro bowler in our midst here.
We're looking back at the Chiefs, but we're also looking
ahead to the Lions. And one of the reasons I
think that the coach had to say that to the

(24:21):
players focus on today is because you don't want to
read about what's going on with the opponent this week,
right is they have been struggling here lately, the Lions.
But the Lions are in a position where they are
as almost as desperate as what the Cowboys were a
couple of weeks ago, and what the Cowboys still need

(24:41):
to be because lost to the Packers at home on Thursday.
Injury situations on that team, They've lost Sam Laporta, their
tied end Aman Ross Saint Brown goes down four plays
into the game on Thursday with an injury, and you
know that team is going to give the Cowboys their
best shot on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Well, all he needs to do is remind him the
last time they played him.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Right, but the Hooking Ladder last year.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
At forty seven to nine got their butts beat.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
A bigger blow was Ragnaw I'm not being ready. Yeah,
they thought Ragna was gonna come under retirement and he's
got a bad strain.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Great, just the fact that, just the fact that they
are entertaining. The thought of ragnow coming out of retirement
tells you how they feel about the interior of their
offensive line right.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Now, and they will better be because the guy we
should have picked to click on Thursday was givet to
Davian Clowney. Do you see on the tackle chart the
first three guys that were tied with six tackles each,
Clowney not here from the start, Savon Revel not here

(25:52):
from the start, the Marvin Overshown, not here from the start.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
So when they asked.

Speaker 5 (25:57):
Ibra Flus about the influence of these new guys that
weren't here from the start, he was like he soft
talked it, like, well, it takes all eleven da da.
Clowney had six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss,
and two quarterback hits.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
That's exactly what they.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
Need from a veteran guy like that to come out
and play the way he did. Now, he didn't practice yesterday.
They didn't have an injury report, but he was doing
the chords with brit before they started Somewhat. He's got
a neck thing going on, so he would have dnped

(26:39):
all last week. He was limited with a neck and
then he was full the day before the game. But
if that guy can play and create that pass rush. Uh,
somebody asked him, why are you guys doing better on
this now? Like he gave all these reasons, right, and
then at the end he goes, but of course it's

(27:01):
about pressure, right, right, they got pressure on the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
Yeah, I wish you just go ahead and be honest
and just say what it is.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Is what it is is, Quinn Williams.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
You get a guy, you get a guy that can
influence the middle of your defense, and it takes the
attention off of the offensive line. And now you're starting
to see Osa Diggi Zula even play a hell of
a lot better. You're starting to see the pressure from
the outside. And guys like forty one, who have you
guys been talking about as a roku and how much
better he looks. And look, I think originally when you

(27:33):
what you were talking about, it's just the way that
this season has gone. And I'm telling you, guys like
Quinn bringing Quinn Williams on has made so many other
parts about this This defense looks so much better. And look,
you were high on Jadavian clowning from the beginning and
you're starting to see the impact that he's having when

(27:55):
he doesn't have to deal with the same amount of
chips and things because now they have to account for
somebody so much bigger in the interior of this defensive line.
So like for me, I just feel like the message
that coach Brian Schottenheimer is delivering to delivering to his
team as far as control the controllables and ninety three

(28:15):
whatever was that Jimmy told y'all, man, he got through.
Guess what, you got a ring because of it. This
team right now they are red hot. They are red hot,
and if they can continue on this trajectory and control
what they can control, whether you, however you get in.
I just want to see this team get in because
they damn sure getting hot at the right time.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
And if you look at Williams, he had four tackles,
quarterback hit and the pressure he applies in the front.
So of the top six guys that had tackles, only
one guy had been here previously, Donovan Williams. Because all

(28:55):
of a sudden, Logan Wilson showed up four tackles, right
and and so this influence of new guys has made
a difference again.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
And I'll be a little bit more specific.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
Yeah, this influence of better talent, Yes see, it's.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
I don't care.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
You know, people people will hey man, just to be
on this level one percent one per No, No, no,
better players with high IQs are above average IQs give
you better results.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
It ain't just guys.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
You can go, hey man, hey, look at her, he
played for the thunder Lightning. Let's go get him off
the street. No, that don't work. Better players, better players
will get me better results, and we'll be you know,
like supills to use to say, what does he run
a four to three? Hey, I know how to use him,
bring him in him. It's better players.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
That's up.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
We're facing every guy that you named is better than
the guy that was was in every every guys and
the guys that were hanging on the edges are two
safeties that were hanging on the edges to see how
this thing was gonna go.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
And now all of a sudden they're like, I ain't
give me thirty snaps.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Let me get better. Let me look at a little
more film. That's what makes it better. This guy Quinny
and this guy Logan said the right things. I'm here
to do my job. That's on the field, in the
in the study room. Now, guys like these are our
new leaders. This is who we're following. Boom, you get

(30:40):
better results.

Speaker 5 (30:41):
And you know what, just listening to Williams talk even
a better person, Yeah he is. He knows this game.
He's kind of soft spoken.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
For a big dude, like yeah, big way, funny way, yeah,
big funny guy.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
You know he but it ain't funny when he gets
on the field.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Now.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
The thing about him is he exhues team play. Yes,
I've never heard him say me, me, me and a.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
You know, and I'm talking about his mannerisms. Don't say that,
you know. It's like the team, the team. Same with overshown,
it's the team. It's us as outside forces are their
friends that they listen to make it about them, you know.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
And let me give you an example. He he did
his media thing.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Out in the hallway.

Speaker 5 (31:41):
When he finished, he went right to I forgot who
had it, but the Jets game was on the phone
and he was still interested, hoping the Jets would pull
that game out yesterday, at which they did and they did,
and he watched it to the end. Right, you know
what dawned on me so I don't did the before

(32:04):
before the trade had had they won a game, the Jets,
I'm trying to they won and won. So what occurred
to me is and I asked him and he kind
of soft played it. I said, you know what, you
came here and you were with a team that was
on a losing streak, and now you're here and you
haven't lost the game yet. And he goes, well, yeah,

(32:26):
but I'm just trying to do what I need to do.
And you know that does you know any But he's
soft played it, right, But I would have thanked God,
Praise the Lord. I'm on a team that right, right.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
And and and.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
So yeah, he's that type of guy. Those guys are
listening to him too, by the way they're they're following
him because they know. Think about it, before he got here,
this team had not had a Pro Bowl defensive tackle
since Jason Hatcher, and that would have go back ten years,
eleven years to twenty fourteen. So they've got somebody that

(33:04):
knows what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Well.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Think about Quinn Williams. In college at Alabama, he played
in three straight national championship games, won a national championship,
and then he's stuck on the New York Jets for
five years. Way to put it in perspective, Bill third
pick in the draft, right, but he's stuck on the
New York Jets. And now he comes to a Cowboys

(33:27):
team that seemed kind of to be out of it
when he got here. But things are rolling and a
lot of it is because of him. And now he's hungry.
I mean, he's hungry to have that same thing he
had six years ago when he was at Alabama.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
The bottom line is, and these coaches are all connected,
you know, And I tell a heck all the time.
Tell me from the team aspect. Don't tell me from
the individual aspect, you know, don't let your emotions ride
up in it. Nick Saban is a out of that
tree that we all talk about, the Bill purselves and

(34:02):
all that team team.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
He he recruited.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
His players in the first One of the first things
he looking in there and say, son, are you scatter competition?
If you're scattered competition, you don't go to that that
team because you're you're not guaranteed to start. I'll start
a freshman over you. It's about competition. So these guys
learn that I'm gonna be playing with the best. So

(34:29):
you know what, I'm a cheer for the best because
that's we competing every day.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
That's how it was.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
Our offensive linemen are gonna be after this training camp,
are gonna be better because Quinny.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Is an A plus player.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Now if Clowney makes it back to training camp, uh.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
He's a B player.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
I'm talking about guys that can make your offensive line better.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
That's that's what I've been always about.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
When when we went to training camp last year, y'all
saw me just looking around like, Okay, now we don't
play the rams, we don't scrimmage around.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Now we know what a good team looked like.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
When I was trying to say, it's just good, make
you good, great, make you even better.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
One other thing on Quentin Williams is he also came
to a team where the defensive line coach was his
former coach with the Jets. Yeah, Aaron Whitecotton. And so
the transition coming in here, White Cotton knew what he
was all about and gave him the freedom that hey,
this is your room, okay. And Solomon Thomas was his
teammate there in that same mo the learning curve, and

(35:35):
so it's like, go be you. Okay, you you are
the leader of this defensive line.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Just remember just remember what you had before he got no, no, no, no, no,
let's not no no, I don't know, but.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Remember what you had you, He'll tell.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
I ask people all the time, do you know what
greatness is? And if you know what greatness is, then
you know we got We still got a lot of
work ahead of us.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
All right, we'll come back with more mixed shots and just.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
All right, Mickey, what else do we need to know?
Because you were here on Sunday a workday for you,
wasn't a work day for the for at least me year.
I don't know about the rest of you, but we're going.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
To take one minute away and this is for you.
Oh okay, going back, I know this is before you
were born. It is you remember Bubbles Cash? Sure, not really,
So this is the morning news on Sunday. Bubbles Cash

(39:05):
was a back in the late sixties.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
No, I do not remember her.

Speaker 5 (39:10):
She was a stripper here locally and in Fort Worth,
and she came to the game at the Cotton Bowl
in sixty seven, and she had a miniskirt on and
she had two cotton candies in front of her rather

(39:32):
endowed breasts. She came walking down the aisle and the
whole stadium outside, and the whole I turned that off,
old figures off out there, stopped down and started ooh
in honor because she came in in the middle of
the first quarter, right.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
It ended up being a.

Speaker 5 (39:53):
Big story in the Cowboys history where uh Bob Hayes
said something to Don Meredith in the middle of the huddle.
He goes, bubbles bubbles cash is here? He goes, who
who goes bubble cash? And so as the story goes,

(40:15):
John Eisenberg wrote this in his book, and he said
Mereth called time out so they could all look, and
Landry starts screaming, what did you call time out for
and goes, it's bubbles cash. So they tracked her down

(40:36):
she's seventy eight years old and basically talked to her
about how she upstaged the whole game and how the
players start giving her their tickets so she could come
to the game and never showed up until the middle
of the first quarter so.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
She could make an entrance bubbles cash, bubbles cash.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
I thought you would know, I don't know, you don't
remember that.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Sort of that. Yeah, anyway, Wow, so just a little
break from so yeah, so.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
That they called Bob knew from the start who it was, Bob,
hang it out of you.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
Fact, she got so famous that Johnny Carson wanted her
on the tonight show and she uh worked for these
brothers here that ran the strip joint and they said, no,
you got a contract here, you can't do that.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
No, ill a story, stay away from that. Nick.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
Yeah, with the double ds.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
You know what I'm saying. Yeah, No, I'm talking about
another another. The guys knew about it.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
That's what That's what we needed to know from Sunday,
right right, I asked.

Speaker 4 (41:52):
And then we talked about how we need the players
to focus.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
Hey, so Sunday, Kayln Carson was returned to practice. Hooker
was out there doing stuff that we saw. Pickens showed
up a little bit, Lady was I bet he was
doing stuff inside and he practiced, And I guess they
didn't have to do a a injury port, but they

(42:20):
would have all been limited, I'm guessing. And think about this.
Pickens has already had a career high by two yards
forty two yards, and Williams Javante needs forty five yards
for the first one thousand yard rushing performance of his career.

(42:41):
So that's what you needed to know from Sunday, all right,
and Monday they will be out here as soon as
we finished twelve fifty and start practicing if they're outdoors,
because it started raining.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
If you guys noticed, I.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
Did not notice. But okay, well that hasn't stop often
before from no practice side, just and it worked pretty
well for them before they keep winning games, that's right, okay.
And by the way, how about that Eagles game. I
mean the Bears ran for two hundred and eighty one yards.
Speaking of one hundred yard rushers, they had two in

(43:18):
that one game against the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
Anytime the Eagles lose, it's a good day the Bears.
And we talked about the Bears and the Panthers, two
teams that on fire right now.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
Howwoys lose it on the road to both those teams.

Speaker 4 (43:33):
And it don't look too bad now right see the
way that the season is going for them.

Speaker 5 (43:37):
I am the happiest for Bryce Young everything he had
to go through because and the criticism he took for
being wasn't he the first court was first, and he
had nobody around him. Now he's got a team, and
look what he's doing. I'm doing the same thing now
that he did at Alabamon.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
By the way, relating back to Quentin Williams, What makes
a big difference on that Carolina defense is the big
guy in the middle of their defense, Derek Brown, who
was hurt all of last year. But this year you
see what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (44:09):
But that's a different that is a different team. And
obviously Nate knows a lot about the Rams, And I mean,
I'm dialed in on this game and I'm watching Stafford
and Young go back and forth. But defensively, it's the
fact that the Panthers they're so stout up front and
they mitigate that that Kyen Williams they're running back, who
is all well, I love him too. But when you

(44:30):
can stop the run and you can make them one
dimension of it changes everything for the MS. But the
Panthers are just a good team.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Man. Speaking of Derek. As you were talking.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
There you go, all right, Nate, you got a final comment.

Speaker 4 (44:46):
No, sir, I just just joy to be on y'all
show man. It just comes you know, hear you your people,
you know, do you'll thing?

Speaker 3 (44:52):
Man.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
I just I'm just excited, man for the Cowboys. Just
one step at a time. I'm not I'm not gonna
get overly excited about what they're doing. But I just
want to wait and see. I want to watch an
enjoy the game. A lot of times we as announcers
have to always have this super opinion. How about just
watching the game and talking about what you really see.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
Since we've got you here, one final comment, Okay, one
of the big things that the way I look at
left tackles is if the if I'm watching the broadcast
and the left tackle's name isn't mentioned, he must have
had a decent game. Yeah, Thomas started his making his
second NFL start. He also started the Jets game starts

(45:36):
for Tyler Geidon. But what are your thoughts on him?

Speaker 4 (45:40):
He's got a lot to learn, but he plays well enough.
This whole offensive line has played well enough. But as
two people I add to this offensive line, I add
Jason Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (45:56):
He's done.

Speaker 4 (45:58):
Jake Ferguson has done a great awesome job. And I
add that to this offensive line. He's did a He's
done a great awesome job. These kids have a long
ways to go in a short time to get there,
So they just got to keep improving and keep playing
together because coaches is the coaches are scheming up success

(46:21):
for them, and all they got to do is just keep.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Playing, keep playing, keep playing.

Speaker 4 (46:25):
You got a rookie at left tackle, you got a
rookie at right guard, you got a second year guy
at center, so just keep playing. And then you got
a guy that's injured bad as your left guard, so
keep playing, keep playing.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
I'll add the offensive coordinator Clayton Adams to what you're
talking about. In the offensive line coach Connor Riley.

Speaker 5 (46:43):
Yes, and if you notice, I know, Tyler Smith's at
left guarden, but they were running left.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (46:52):
Yeah, he's sucking it up between him and Nate Thomas.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Yeah, they were running left. They a bu jard of
their play.

Speaker 4 (46:59):
They One thing I admire about Smith is he got
some old school in him.

Speaker 2 (47:05):
He gonna grit. You know.

Speaker 4 (47:06):
You'll see some plays where he's limping badly, then you'll
see some play where he's.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Okay, you know.

Speaker 4 (47:11):
And I like that that grit determination and them with
their offensive line coach and the way they are scheming
things up much success. I understand now why they doing
the two back things. I understand because what's you call
it is a power back. Thirty three is a power back.
But they do want that guy with just a twitch

(47:32):
of quickness to him. But let that be elite. Don't
let that I don't want number nine. He gonna get
number I'm telling you number nine gonna get caught one day,
and it ain't gonna be pretty.

Speaker 5 (47:43):
I'm just telling If you need to know about Tyler Smith,
go look up Bill's uh story on him last night.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
Yeah. Yeah, it's worse. I mean, he is the real deal.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
He's what you're looking for as far as makeup goes.
First round draft pick.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
Yeah, oh yeah. I talk to a lot of people
about him, just to make sure he's all right.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
Yeah, all right, very good, And we're gonna turn our
full attention to the liltt Lions tomorrow as we get
you ready for Thursday Night Football with the return of
Everson Walls on mix shots tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
Thank you, Nate, all right, Everson, go Cowboys. All right.
