Speaker 3 (01:27):
At least we could do on the football field.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
Right There are football players on the football field, and
we're here inside the SBbc podcast studio. Mickey Spagnola has
many things to report. What he just heard from Brian
Schottenheimer at a press conference. Who's gonna play on the
football field at noon Sunday at at and T Stadium
at noon noon? Yeah, noon game.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
I was trying to figure out how to get you
a seller that stupid drink.

Speaker 7 (02:01):
Yeah, yeah, see I don't even energy drink.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:08):
That was like that, ain't no mountain high enough? You
went the other day. I still can't believe.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Ain't no mountain high enough?

Speaker 7 (02:16):
Well they found it.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
There is a mountain.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
There is a mountain.

Speaker 7 (02:20):
Send Detroit pretty flat there, but tell me about it.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Found the mountain.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
Ever since then, got more mountains too, Yeah, we got
more mountains to climb.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
Can you play cornerback?

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I can, Yes, you can? All right?

Speaker 6 (02:32):
In my mind, I think I think I could actually
give you.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
You could give us what you can give us?

Speaker 6 (02:40):
What two third downs? I'm no longer a corner and
I'm not coming down to cover No.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
One slot? You know what I'm thinking?

Speaker 8 (02:50):
Last night I was watching the Seattle game, watching pook
in the cool When you said I would love I
was like, dog.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
He is six two to twelve man. What I'm like?
Why should wish we could get a time machine?

Speaker 6 (03:07):
Helvenson walls against you wear him out.

Speaker 8 (03:11):
Let's go to work the moves moves. Okay, you gotta
show me some moves.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Talk we can we can just limit here locally.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Work is too amazing.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
I'd like to see him go up against j s
N the product of rock Wall School.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
I have to back off of him a little bit.

Speaker 8 (03:26):
No, you would book if you say that about Pooker.
But jas I got to meet them strength for strength ASN.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Let's do this. He's shifting, He's.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
Got hit totally different wide receivers to me one place
with strength and of course leverage. You know, j s N,
that guy is just I think you'd be more incind
to be jamming him at the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 8 (03:45):
You're trying to be more physical. Miss what that's the
name of the game, right, Yeah, but I can I
can catch Pooker. Okay, I can't. I can't catch JSN.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
That you can't.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
It's not that not from here, I can catch him
if I'm backing off eight yards, yeah, then I could
keep my leverage.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
But yeah, if you missed that guy, it's over.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
You know what. My favorite moment of last night's game
the Thursday night game and won by the Seahawks in
overtime thirty eight thirty seven. My favorite moment was the
coin flip for overtime, when both teams send out one
player for over for the coin flip, and here comes
the future Hall of Famer Matthew Stafford out of Highland
Park High School, who, by the way, twenty years ago
this week won a state championship game fifty nine to nothing.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
And then on the other side, who do the Seahawks
send out? They send out Jackson Smith and Jigba And
so here you got two Dallas products and they're the
best players on the both teams going out for the
coin flip.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Taking over the world. Man, that's right, yep, the entire world.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
So, Mickey, do you want to give us an update
on anything?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
What would you Where would you like to start?

Speaker 6 (04:49):
Well, you're the one that attended a press conference, pres
conference I did, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
All right, We've got breaking news all over the place
in the last twenty four hours.

Speaker 7 (04:58):
Are on bland out.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (05:04):
Some sort of irritation to that fifth meta tarsal that
he had fixed and he needs another surgery.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Oh wow, So he officially made well, second opinion is
being being He hasn't officially been ruled out yet.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Now how does he feel?

Speaker 7 (05:24):
Schottenheimer basically said, he's it's like losing two people because
you've got an outside corner and a slot corner that
can do both in the same game.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
So dies that change anything in regards to Trayvon.

Speaker 7 (05:36):
They said they're still looking at how he practices.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
Right away and then everyone's and then he's looks like
he's having fun again playing football. Yeah, well let him
have some fun out and ping pong.

Speaker 7 (05:56):
Ping pong two or table tennis, table for you want
to call it. Yeah, so, yes, he probably needs surgery.
I don't know if maybe you know, they they repaired
it with a screw in there in the fifth metatars.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
That's what you do.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
And and it's the reason why he missed ten games
or whatever last year.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Last year, yeah, because it was then.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
And also the reason he missed weeks two and three
this year.

Speaker 9 (06:29):
I don't know the giants in Chicago, so it's something
they've been dealing with. And they didn't say he had
been when the irritation started or whatever, but you know,
he hadn't been himself this year.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
I don't think. I don't think it is performed.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
I don't think he was never more evident than the
Arizona game.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yeah, and so that was it.

Speaker 7 (06:53):
So I think it's one of those things where you know,
if if maybe the screw broke, I don't know. I
haven't gotten a chance to talk to anybody about it yet.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Talk to the talk to the surgeon, talk to the
what the hell happen kind of what kind of screwed
you put in there?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Right?

Speaker 5 (07:08):
He cares about the hippos.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, right, talk to us.

Speaker 7 (07:13):
I guess I'm fortunate and I didn't have a screw
put in there.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
It all comes back to Mickey, that's.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Right, some kind of way.

Speaker 8 (07:21):
Got experience degrees of Mickey got.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
Plus years, right, you know you have you can relate
to everything.

Speaker 8 (07:31):
Yeah, you can give us some third downs.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah, well, let's let's be in the back. I got
to be back here. Let's look at it.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Yeah, so who's playing?

Speaker 7 (07:43):
Yeah, on Sunday, let's look at who's playing or potentially playing?

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Right, it changes everything?

Speaker 7 (07:48):
Well, it does because nobody in that secondary now and
if they don't say, well, we got to play digs.
No one's been in the NFL more than this being
their second year, all right, Revel rookie, Carson, Taling Carson

(08:10):
second year, Ready Stewart second year and really didn't play
his first year with the Bears. Uh, Traquez Bridges rookie rookie.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Come after that, and then.

Speaker 7 (08:24):
Maybe maybe Josh Butler, who's on his day Josh Well
has been on I R R ye right, just started
his practice. So when he practiced Wednesday, Uh, it was
the first of the year. And I asked him, I said, so,
when's the last time you actually practice? And he goes, well,
the week of Thanksgiving last.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Year, which was not a practice.

Speaker 7 (08:47):
This wasn't a practice last year. Torres a c L
and was on I R and then went through all
didn't training, no training camp and wee.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Weeks and and by the way, he's second year even
though he's your second year guy.

Speaker 7 (09:05):
So the only veteran they can turn to is C. J.
Goodwin and he's basically the special guy.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
So he's gonna play some corner.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
Well, he has to be ready, right right, So I mean,
and if Butler doesn't get put on the fifty three,
which they should have room now because Bland will get
put on I R.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
I would imagine. Uh. If not, then they only got
four corners. And they're younger than the thieves.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
Yes, yes, younger than thieves. So and they don't have
skins on the wall like that, Steves.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Either there's no Dennis Thurman back there, and your defensive
front or your team has only got one sack in
the last two games.

Speaker 8 (09:50):
Are you guys in have you entered the realm of
worry about Doron Bland's foot since he's went just like
Bill soccer.

Speaker 6 (09:58):
To have to go in a again into that same incision.
That is tough man, just to have to go through that.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yeah, but it's a bone.

Speaker 6 (10:07):
Oh sorry, that makes it better.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
I'll throw another name into the mix as possibilities bone
still in six weeks.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Okay, I don't want to have to go back in again.
The question are you worried?

Speaker 8 (10:22):
No, not at all about I mean, and this has
been something repeatedly that he's had to deal with over
the last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
It's both feet. Wow, okay, so but you have responses
are not making me? I don't know where you're all right?
Same bone twice. This is a tough guy right here.

Speaker 7 (10:43):
I think he's done both both I remember, okay, or
maybe I'm confusing. Let's hope you Marcus Lawrence, who played
pretty damn well last night.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Always he's been balling all year. Yeah right, yeah, just
didn't have.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
A last and you're about to throw it out. Corey
Ballentine on the practice practice would be another possibility of playing.

Speaker 7 (11:03):
Even when I looked at the practice squad, I didn't
see his name, but maybe.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
I skipped over it. Oh, that didn't give you the squad.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Who knows. I haven't checked the practice squad lately either way.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
So today is Friday, and if we start talking about Diggs,
you asked him about Diggs and they go, well, we
just still got to see how he's practicing.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Right, it's Friday.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
His window is up.

Speaker 6 (11:24):
Yeah, I mean they got to make they know tomorrow
if he's closing fast, So come on, man, And.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Then they have to make a decision whether he's gonna
play Sunday before they find out whether Sunday matters or not,
meaning before the Eagles play the Commanders tomorrow. They got
to make the decision by three o'clock.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
And and see, so this is the moment where you say, okay,
this is one of those moves of well we we're
out of it anyway.

Speaker 7 (11:52):
Oh, I know why I missed a cornerback because they
list him as a dB.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Oh about time.

Speaker 7 (11:57):
Okay, but they did list Clark no children as a cornerback,
but I think.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
He was a slot corner safety.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
It was Clark on the at this point, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (12:07):
You just they just well and here's here's the other thing.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
So we mentioned all these.

Speaker 7 (12:14):
Corners, uh limited, Butler he only well it's Josh because
he hasn't practiced forever, Carson limited, and Savon Revel limited.

(12:34):
So they're not all totally healthy, but they're gonna have
to totally play.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
I'm telling you, guys, this is the moment. What they
do with Diggs will let you know what they think
about the rest of this season. Bottom line, you used
to at about tanking.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
This is as close as you're gonna get to tanking.
We need him. It's not tanking.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
No, it's as close as you're going to get to
when you listen to my words. Okay, okay, it's as
close as you're gonna get to. You're saying, this is
what because then not gonna They're not if they know
they can improve themselves with Digs, right, and like, no,
we're not doing.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
It because because they want to keep.

Speaker 6 (13:07):
Him, They want to keep him healthy for later on
down the line, and that don't mean here. So if
they if they really, if I would think, if we
were still in it, that they would make a crucial
decision to play Digs that's what I believe. That's what
if we were still in it, we still had a
chance to win and this happens, maybe, and this happens.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
All of this and we got cornerback, you still say maybe.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
If you still have a chance to go to the
playoffs and you don't put your best team out there there, that's.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
And I know right now we don't have a chance,
So he's not.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
Going to put They do have a chance if well,
And we need to make sure everybody understands what the
deadline is on Digs right now. It's his twenty one
day window. They have to make a decision when this
twenty one days is up or else if they don't

(14:08):
activate him, he is done for the season. So let's
just you just narrow it. I'm not talking about them
making the playoffs, but I am talking about what if
Washington beat Philadelphia on Saturday, then there is a percentage
one percentage chance, okay, and then the Cowboys win on Sunday,

(14:30):
and then you also got Thursday's game against Washington, and
so it's another if Washington beats Philadelphia, we've got another
week where there's actually two games that where the Cowboys
still have a possibility, and Philadelphia's going to Buffalo next
week and then they close against Washington.

Speaker 7 (14:48):
So and to answer hecmas question about a chance or
however you put it, there was a chance going into
Detroit and they didn't activate him.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
Yeah, so but they still had more veterans available.

Speaker 7 (15:05):
One.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Well, that makes a big difference in mister n B.

Speaker 7 (15:09):
Yeah, but still they needed more help obviously giving up
forty four points.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
Well, and at that point Diggs had only practiced. They
had week two practices that week or whatever. They were
coming off of many buy and and then they made
the same decision for but if you.

Speaker 7 (15:27):
Were desperate, because you had a chance, you to put
them out there.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah, and they did not with that with just one
week of practice. I don't believe it.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
But right now, the more telling one was the Vikings game.

Speaker 8 (15:39):
So you guys are not as high on savone revel
as you were a couple of weeks ago, because in
that Detroit game, I think you were a little bit
more confident.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
I'm still confident.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
He's a rookie, Okay, Yeah, So you got rookies and
practice squad guys, and I know you're not very high
up on the practice squad guys at all with them.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Roster.

Speaker 7 (16:04):
But it's nice to put a guy in there that's
a second year guy getting experience, right, But not everybody right.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
Everybody, Well, we're now talking about Josh Butler as being
he was a practice squad guy last year, right, and
then got elevated and showed he had a little something
and so.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Boy, that's some optimism.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
I'm just saying, they're pretty desperate in the second, right,
there is no doubt.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Just blitz every place. Let's do it. Everything else is failing.

Speaker 8 (16:38):
So you're saying, lad McConkey is coming to town at
twelve o'clock and uh, keenan Allen, Yes, so good luck stopping.

Speaker 7 (16:46):
That's gonna get pressure on on Herbert we are, Yeah,
everybody else has.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
He said we had one second? How many.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Well, just how many pressures forgets that I know how
many pressures we've had in the last two or three weeks.
Nine that's it for real?

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Uh it was one.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
One against Minnesota and eight against Detroit.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
You can get on two hands.

Speaker 8 (17:16):
Well, this is definitely the game that Eble you know,
changing his he can vantage point, you can see things
a little bit better.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
It could dial it up now ever, since I have
now become more I hate it. Here we're Celsius right.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
Arattnimer said, when you're up in the box and you
have issues, you have a better chance to address the
issues because you see him so and he's right from
that standpoint.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
But who are you going to address him with?

Speaker 6 (17:52):
Belichick always stayed on the field. Yeah, he was never
in the booth. I'm just thinking about d c's Ernie
Stoudt always on the field. Uh So this is just
I'm just pointing out how different this is.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
That's all was. I think Ernie Zamp was on the
he was up in the booth. He was in the book.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
Oh yeah, with his pencils.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
I was in the booth. I told you that story yesterday. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Did you say it on the air? Did you share
it with the class or did everybody?

Speaker 7 (18:22):
Okay, I wasn't here, so with these guys, yeah, okaybout
everybody else.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
It's ow.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
He saw the millions that are watching.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
He saw the.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
Troy Aikman going under center, and they had called to
play and it just got hiked, and he was yelling
at him for that.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
Didn't I wasn't listening.

Speaker 8 (18:42):
He doesn't tuned out because you told you DeMarcus wear story.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Okay, yeah, thank you, and you're okay.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
So this is this I won't dwell on it, but
it is a story of out coaches being in the
booth calling place. Okay. And I've just thought of it
last night when I'm watching the end of the Seahawks game.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
And how about the.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
Two point conversion call from Clint Kubiak.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
There, Hey, I got two. I just got two points.

Speaker 10 (19:18):
You.

Speaker 7 (19:19):
But I'm talking about picking up the ball, going to
just give away to the official.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
That's why you always carry it out, That's right, you always.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
I'm talking about the game winning two point boy to
the tight end, the blocking tight end, Eric Saubert, who
the Rams had no idea that this guy might go
out for a pass, and and they called time out
twice before. Uh and you know, they show us spread
formation first of two by two Kubiak does, and then

(19:49):
they finally after they called time out, they come with
the trips to the right side and still spread out
empty and uh so then they throw it to the
blocking tight end who did a great job of patience
of holding his block and then releasing it. Anyway, but
it reminded me. Clint Kubiak in twenty twelve was a
graduate assistant at Texas A and M. In fact, they

(20:12):
had a Johnny Manziel's Heisman Trophy year and they played
Oklahoma and the Cotton Bowl and blew him out. Cliff
Kingsbury was the offensive coordinator, and Kingsbury had taken the
Texas Tech job, and so it was left to their
assistance to call place well. The designated offensive coordinator was

(20:32):
their running backs coach, Clarence McKinney, and he normally is
down on the field and so he was going to
have to go up in the booth call plays well.
It was the day of the game and he got
called feet and he said, man, I can't do this.
I can't call place up here. And so he had
his two gas. His two gas on that staff were

(20:54):
Clint Kubiak, who now the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks,
and Riley Dodge, who's now the head coach at South
Lake Carroll. Those two were up in the booth and
they were the eyes in the sky, basically calling plays
as gas in a Texas A and M forty one
to fourteen win over Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl and uh,
but it goes to show that not all coaches are

(21:18):
comfortable with going up top. And because they've got a
comfort level, this is where I've always called plays. And
to your point on abra Flues, when was the last
time that he called plays from up.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
He could remember?

Speaker 7 (21:29):
He said in Missouri when he was the defense, which
is twenty years ago, six through eight. Yeah, they went
to the Big twelve championship game then got beat beat
by some red team red.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
All right, so we got a lot to get to here.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Yes, still our.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
Picks at the end of the show.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
More bad news I'm not picking. Yeah, more bad news coverage.
Well got more, I got got one, I got right.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
Hear what makeser's gotten? Next on mix Shots.

By the way, Cowboys practicing right now, and it appears
that Cede Lamb is back at practice. He is missed
to be due to illness, and he is back. I
have a visual evidence of it on Twitter right now.

Speaker 7 (24:46):
Somebody took a picture. Someone did they had room in
their cloud for it.

Speaker 8 (24:50):
There you go, Mickey, don't miss the shot though, you know, man,
that's why mix shot.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
And it doesn't matter that the conversation happened off the
air nobody else he's talking.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
We laughed, all.

Speaker 5 (25:12):
Right, So what was it that you're hiding from us?

Speaker 7 (25:14):
Well, we can discuss running back because uh Lipke and
quinnin Williams are still in concussion protocol, although they were
limited yesterday because they did some running.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
So we'll see what happens today.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
Supposedly they're both trending towards playing on Sunday, but you
probably wouldn't know that till later.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
What's today, Friday?

Speaker 7 (25:42):
Hmm, Yeah, they got to be able to do something
again today before they can clear concussion protocol. So Jaden Blue,
you gotta have three running backs.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Don't you.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
House Davonte, he's on the injury report.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
He was on the injury report. He only played twenty nine.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
Right, he had come out and then something it was
a stinger. He said, okay, well he's certainly whatever treatment
he got at halftime seemed to work.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
He needed time to man to get the feeling dragon
people there. He was dragon people, so you would need
a third one and so and then MafA hasn't practiced
but two days since training camp when he got hurt.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
Phil MafA the seventh.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Round, I got been a minute since we heard that name,
and Guidan's not going to play.

Speaker 7 (26:36):
He's still out still with an ankle rehabit, and it's
a high ankle spring, so that's reasonable. And I saw
Nate Thomas who had been starting walking around with a
rap on his shoulder with ice. Now he left the

(26:57):
game this past week in the fourth quarter and achem,
I d energy came in and that wasn't real good.
So left tackles somewhat concerning.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
I would think I need to look for practice squad tackles.
I don't think they there's Marcellus Johnson is listed on
what is.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
Well, let's go inve doing these days? Yeah, actually he.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
Got signed by somebody. I know it was a joke, but.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
He did.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
He did resurface to your point, you know, having sat
here for literally sat here for four years, however long
it was, got picked up by the Saints and then
let go quickly and here in the last few weeks
got picked.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Up by somebody, which one, well let's go, let's go.

Speaker 7 (27:49):
So and if you were looking at the offensive line
to see young guys play, do they have any I'm
and you've seen Cornelius is on I R right, they
know who Hoffman is, right, TJ.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Bass, and then Bass he's a guard, but.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
He played left tackle in college. He's not going to
play in the pro.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
I think he can play with it.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
He would be an emergency guy.

Speaker 6 (28:18):
Hey man, wherever we put you, you play, you play.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
I don't care.

Speaker 5 (28:23):
I mean they have a pro bow left guard who's
played left tackle before.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
That's a thought. And then Bass the guard.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Right, this is that would be an emergency.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
This is that time. Well, you know I would call
and before the win on the fan.

Speaker 5 (28:40):
I don't know what I was saying.

Speaker 6 (28:41):
Was that last week when you were just saying that
we were finally healthy?

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Besides Geiton?

Speaker 5 (28:47):
Yeah, yeah, I'll throw another thing in on the on
the whole Trayvon Diggs and activating him. Here's another factor
on that as it relates to the Eagles game. They
could activate him before the Eagles play tomorrow and then
if the Eagles win, decide not to play him because
the game doesn't matter on Sunday. That's another thing that

(29:09):
could happen.

Speaker 7 (29:10):
He could be one of the inactives.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
To get to forty eight. Why would you do that?

Speaker 5 (29:15):
Why it would be for the whole reason that we've
been discussing all week that his contract up and you
don't want to risk an injury going into Okay season.

Speaker 8 (29:23):
So all right, so Hunter Liftkey potentially being out is.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
His contracts not up, but you can't move on from it.

Speaker 8 (29:29):
Yeah, Hunter Liftkeyes being out just as far as him
the utility knife that he is in the blocking and
also in past uh you know, getting out in the
flat for Dak. I really worry about him being out
because I don't think Blue or anybody else can fisure know.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
What they did in the game. They used the tight ends.
The tight ends to like, okay, Princeton.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
Fant could be a gay yeah, right, but they were
using span Ford. Yeah, he would line He didn't always
stay there, but he would initially line up there and
then move. And they've used Lipkey. It's kind of a
unique situation. They put him like right between the guard
and the tackle, like almost to the line.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Of scrimmage, looking after the blitz, so.

Speaker 7 (30:17):
They you know, kind of that would be a pass
if they.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
Gave him for that role. Princeton fence traits are fit
more for that novel. Obviously obviously not to carry the football,
but for past protection purposes. He fits that mold more.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
And by the way, last night, I saw a blitz
that didn't work because the running back picked the guy up.
He ran right into it. So just because you call
the blitz doesn't mean you're getting pressure.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
One.

Speaker 8 (30:49):
He was at the bar last night and he saw that.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
They didn't have your blue ches. I was watching two
things at once last night. What was the other evericks? Oh?

Speaker 5 (31:05):
Yeah, flag?

Speaker 3 (31:06):
And then I switched to the Stars.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
Yeah did they win? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (31:11):
Four three?

Speaker 5 (31:12):
Everybody's winning.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Stop, everybody's not winning. Right here.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
We're gonna have our picks coming up right here. I
think Everson just previewed his pick he brought.

Speaker 8 (31:23):
He Look, he's wearing his cowboy year a little dated,
a little dated, but he got it on.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
It doesn't happen often, you know, And I pointed it out.
I was like, well, I look at this says dated.
But because you.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
You know, you'regether with your stuff, Yeah, you're up to date.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
They can't say that he got this. He got the
smokers gloves, but they.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
Made show those off. I don't know if they available
for Christmas present.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
No, they probably gave it to holiday. Go talk to
the media head that takes one of these. So what
I think I've got that same shirt with.

Speaker 6 (32:03):
You should because me and I with our old butts. Yeah,
that's what that's what what they give us. They want
us to go on an appearance and we don't have gear.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
So yeah, that's the where it goes.

Speaker 5 (32:14):
They give you the old stuff, man, give the old guy.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
There you go.

Speaker 7 (32:20):
Probably got the finger finger tipless gloves.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
I got.

Speaker 7 (32:25):
I was you know what, I'm checking in at the
at the media, parking on on on Sunday or was
it was Sunday?

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Yes, I can't remember.

Speaker 7 (32:35):
Thursday Sunday And the lady comes and it's on your
app right, so it's on your phone.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
I show her the phone.

Speaker 7 (32:42):
She goes, she brings her little deal there and she goes,
can you push that?

Speaker 3 (32:46):
I go, what do I got to push it for?

Speaker 7 (32:49):
She had gloves on and she couldn't push on her.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
I have to go like yeah, yeah, parking lot.

Speaker 5 (32:59):
I had to have some mercy for her.

Speaker 7 (33:01):
So I was thinking, they do have those gloves to
go skiing like that so you can work your phone?

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Well they do, they do, they do.

Speaker 6 (33:11):
Anyway, I've seen the product. God the gloves you touch
them and they're supposed to be able to warm my
hands and also have the this is an episode of
Shark Team like this.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
Yes, our content manager hecma. Is there anything else that
we need to get to before we come back and
make our picks here in a second.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
You know, Look, we got a.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
Couple of minutes before we need to take a break.

Speaker 8 (33:34):
The dark Cloud arrived with Mickey with the information on
injuries right away, and we.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Haven't arrive with Everson and his lack of energy come back.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Is that what it was? Something? I don't know. We
got one more segment to time the.

Speaker 7 (33:48):
Chargers right, because they got a lot to play for. Yeah, well,
if they win and there's four scenarios that other people
have to lose for them to clinch a playoff spot, Okay,
they come in voted for bear a lot the Chargers.
If they win and the Texans lose to the Raiders,
that's probably not gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
Right, Raiders are not beating anybody.

Speaker 7 (34:11):
If they win and the Colts lose to the forty
nine Ers, that's possible, right Monday Night game third one,
Chargers beat the Cowboys and Colts tie with the forty
nine ers. They're in and the last one is the
Chargers tie the Cowboys and the Texans lose to the
Raiders and the Colts tie the forty nine ers. They're

(34:32):
in so anyway, they got a lot to play for.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
They come in motivated. Great, Okay, go.

Speaker 5 (34:39):
Ten and fourteen coming in here the Los Angeles Chargers.
So who wins on Sunday at noon? And who are
our picks to click? When mix shots continues at.

Speaker 3 (34:50):

Speaker 5 (37:56):
Well at the start a good question park and saw
State Arkansas State Oversouri State in the Xbox Bowl.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
Okay, Kyle Yellman's called that game.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
For Compass.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
I believe.

Speaker 5 (38:12):
Okay, all right, College Station tomorrow at eleven am.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
The Aggies hosts the U Tonight though.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
It's Alabama Oklahoma eleven am Tomorrow, the Aggies played in
the college football Playoff. The Aggie you play for a
volleyball national championship tomorrow night too. They won last night,
they did?

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Ye see I'm I'm looking at Miami and.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
All right, Miami, Who's winning state champion? No One picked
all of them. All of them are winning state championships, right,
all our locals, right of course. Okay, but you got
no Texas. You got the Barnborsco start tonight, yeah, South
Oacliff at noon or tomorrows got the three o'clock game
in DeSoto, the seven o'clock game.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Okay, so there risk goes tonight yeah, seven o'clock. Yeah, okay,
And what else we have tonight? Nothing? Now? Nothing? Now.
Stephenville is playing Kilgore right now, Stephenville, what's the score?
It's zero zero halftime, half time.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
That's hard.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
I need.

Speaker 7 (39:18):
There's been a lot of turnovers, three things like.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
Kill that's what my mom's phone.

Speaker 7 (39:25):
Stephenville has picked off kill Gore twice in their red.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Zone, once in the end zone. Wow.

Speaker 7 (39:30):
Okay, all right, I want one guy for each of you.
Who you want to see play more snaps tomorrow night
or Sunday night at noon?

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Does Philly win or lose? Oh? Very good?

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Does Philly Winter lose? Philly is losing?

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Okay, so then that's different. Yeah, if Philly wins, it's
a different question.

Speaker 7 (39:53):
Well not really, because the only one that concerns is
the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
Yeah, I'm in cabable of pulling for you either team.

Speaker 5 (40:00):
But you want to see Jaydon Blue before the season's over.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
No, I'm going with them.

Speaker 8 (40:04):
I want the Commanders to win, so obviously, Philly boo,
they're gonna lose, so by a washing.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
Who do you want to see play?

Speaker 8 (40:11):
You know what I want to ask Lea Foul? Can
I see more of number thirty five? I mean, we've
been complaining about linebacker a lot, you know, but then
there are some guys that just haven't got the opportunities.

Speaker 7 (40:22):
He gonna play be instead of overshown?

Speaker 8 (40:26):
Well, no, not instead of I'm saying with and I'm
also saying based off of the pressure that you need
to get. He's one of those Tasmanian kind of guys
that I think you could send on the Kama Kazi
mission to get to the quarterback. So Lea Foul is
one of the guys. If you asked me that question, I.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Can get answered middle linebacker. Damn it. I'm I just
want to see him, Mickey.

Speaker 7 (40:48):
If somebody has Mickey, you asked me a question, I
give you an answer.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Don't give me all the other things to go with it. Okay,
there's the answer, all right, what's up with you man? You?
You and these glove.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
This is a day Okay, Mickey asked the question, let's
let's flip it up.

Speaker 6 (41:08):
No, Well, if he was going to ask me, I
want to see Bridges has has tasted a little success,
even though it was a bad game. I want to
see what Bridges can do when he comes in. You
might have to Yeah, I know we will. Yeah, I
know we will. I'd like to see him.

Speaker 5 (41:22):
He just stole mine.

Speaker 6 (41:23):
If that's what you want to say, Wow, that's funny.
I just want to see if he can contribute. I
want to see those long legs and arms. I want
to see if he can you know, mature and you
know you want to learn something throughout the season. You
don't want to digress. I want to see if he's
learned something, to see if he can progress.

Speaker 5 (41:39):
I have another reason why, but I'll save that reason why.
I want Bridges to play more. Go ahead, Mickey, what's yours?
Trying to find somebody? Yeah, not like a lawyer. He
wanted to ask a question.

Speaker 7 (41:56):
I was searching on offense right, Well, they're off already playing.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
Do you want to see Diggs playing?

Speaker 6 (42:05):
That's a good That is good.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
I love this guy man. Yeah, right, you know how
to strike a nerve, don't you. That's a multi purpose
statement to strike a nerve with. That's good gosh. How

(42:36):
to find somebody ignored.

Speaker 7 (42:41):
The answers?

Speaker 3 (42:41):
No, I don't want to say.

Speaker 7 (42:43):
Okay, okay, okay, all right, is anybody on the defensive
line that hasn't played.

Speaker 5 (42:55):
There? You go, oh, Columba sooner, but Perry on Winfrey
a little bit more. Yeah, he's been so are you
thinking Quentin's plan? Yeah, I know it's it's.

Speaker 7 (43:06):
Yeah, But who's going to play in place of them?

Speaker 5 (43:08):
Well, that's that's an interior body that wouldn't be playing.

Speaker 7 (43:14):
I've seen Toya. I know what he is, right, Nah,
Schamar James. If they can figure out how to get
him on the field, can he play middle linebacker?

Speaker 3 (43:24):
That's this? He can't. He can't. Yes, he can.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
But the question is has he been training to play right?

Speaker 3 (43:31):
Right? Right?

Speaker 5 (43:33):
Because he's out on the field.

Speaker 7 (43:34):
I think he can success blitz from what I've seen.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
Yeah, I'm going to say he's showing us that he can.

Speaker 7 (43:41):
Like he can get to the cornerback like he wants
to run into somebody, hopefully practicing it right, that's right,
that's right practice blitzing.

Speaker 5 (43:49):
And that could be something that happens if they get
eliminated at some point in the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
That's true because they know what the other guys can do.

Speaker 5 (43:57):
Right, we get something on tape?

Speaker 3 (44:01):
All right, right, time to make you gotta answer? Who
was your guy? Dame was bridget yo, but you didn't
say why. I'm going to okay, Oh right, that's part
of just pick to click. Here we go, Here we go.

Speaker 6 (44:13):
No, Milton, No, we don't want to see Joe playing.
Love me some Joe, but don't want to see him play.
It's just because of the position that he plays. All right, guys,
I am looking at still gotta go with my Cowboys.
I look for him to win, but the score I
only see a score in twenty eight points. With these
issues that we're having, especially injury wise, even on the

(44:37):
offensive line, our consistency hasn't been there. Everyone sees that
the way to play the Cowboys offensively you gotta blitz them.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
And we even knew.

Speaker 6 (44:46):
That before this this season. They were more conducive to
being blitched two years ago because our wide receivers weren't
as good. They still blitzed us, but it's not because
of our Why Rechie he was if we can get
the ball off, We're okay what that has done. It
has caused our point production to go down. So I'm

(45:07):
looking at U's only scoring twenty eight points this time,
only only twenty eight points. That's how good our offense
has been, as you know. So I'm looking at twenty
eight twenty four, and my boy Pickings, he's gotta reservice, resurface.

Speaker 3 (45:21):
He has to resurface. I'm looking at him having over
one hundred yards received. Okay, oh, okay.

Speaker 8 (45:27):
All right, I'm gonna go with a Donovan and it's
gonna be as a rokup as my good player. I
think he needs. He needs to a comeback game. Last
one wasn't his best and we got to get pressure
on this quarterback in this Chargers defense, Chargers offense that
hasn't scored a ton of points. So Donovan has a roku.

(45:49):
I'm gonna go with twenty four. I like we said
twenty four. I like that number. Twenty four. I'm gonna
go twenty four to twenty is my score in this game.
And I'm definitely definitely going with the Dallas Cowboys winning
this one.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Gotcha, that's a good one.

Speaker 7 (46:06):
You got You said something. I was going to look
it up on the Chargers and I never mind.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Oh, come on.

Speaker 7 (46:18):
Your turn, Mickey, Travon Diggs twenty no triggers.

Speaker 3 (46:24):
No, I wasn't.

Speaker 7 (46:25):
I wasn't ready for this one. I picked on the fan,
but I try to be consistent. Picked the Cowboys twenty
four to twenty.

Speaker 8 (46:32):
You don't feel so good about that, any boy, do
I don't flip flop.

Speaker 3 (46:36):
It's your show. Flip flop if you want to.

Speaker 7 (46:39):
They're gonna just kick more field goals than Oh that's right,
Dick or the kicker, Nick or.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
The kickicker the kicking.

Speaker 7 (46:44):
So the Cowboys will kick more field goals and a
two point conversion and they'll get to twenty four twenty two.
And I want to see, Well, they haven't scored, but
in the last four games, three of the four they've
scored no more than twenty two points.

Speaker 3 (47:04):
Chargers coming in here though, right to play the Cowboys
right here? It does? So who is you guy? So
you can't pick No, No, can't pick Aubrey.

Speaker 7 (47:21):
Uh, I'm gonna go with my guy that I want
to see Samar James.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
They're gonna blitz them. Somar James has a sack.

Speaker 7 (47:31):
Yes, wow, that'll be as many sacks as they've had
in the last two games. If that happens, that is
what guys stand on your heads on Monday.

Speaker 5 (47:40):
Yeah, Lamar James, Schamar James who had zero snaps on
defense against the Vikings on Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
Well, because I want to see him play. Okay, we'll
see it's gonna happen. Listen to me.

Speaker 5 (47:56):
It's not often that the Cowboys have played the Chargers,
and not often they played them here at home. In fact,
you have to go all the way back to nineteen
ninety the last time the Cowboys beat the Chargers at home.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
Did you know that nineteen ninety used every second second
game of the season or.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
First first game of the season. That's right, first game
of the season, a seventeen to fourteen win. Troy Aikman
scored the winning touchdown on a one yard run, and
that would be what did you ask who played quarterback
for at that time? Probably Mark Vlasic, what or Vlassic

(48:34):
last Classic Lastic Billy Joe Tolliver was on that team. Wow,
how about that Billy Joe out of Boyd Texas seventeen
fourteen is not going to be the score. Twenty seven
to twenty four is the score, and it will be
a game winning field to goal. Bye Cameron Dicker, the kicker.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
Oh oh, break round here like it?

Speaker 5 (49:02):
Dicker?

Speaker 3 (49:04):
So what are we doing here? And the pic?

Speaker 6 (49:07):
I don't wait wait wait wait, go back, go back.
So Dick or the kicker is going to kick the
winning field goal?

Speaker 3 (49:13):
Uh huh okay.

Speaker 6 (49:14):
So I don't even know how I put it down
input it. I don't even know how to put that
in this. I got Chargers somewhere around here.

Speaker 5 (49:21):
And uh the Quez Bridges, who, by the way, in
April was a seventh round draft pick of a Charger
Los Angeles Chargers is going to be the pick to
click an interception for Trequez Bridges. But the Cowboys Trayvon
Diggs does not play in this game.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
But the Cowboys or to lose. That's what you're saying.

Speaker 7 (49:43):
You know they lost.

Speaker 6 (49:44):
I mean I stand up and say that, Bill, never,
this is this is unusual.

Speaker 5 (49:48):
You have never wanted to depress you further?

Speaker 3 (49:51):
Yeah you did, man, I don't even know how to
put this in there.

Speaker 7 (49:54):
Nineteen ninety.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
After they won that opener, they lost three in a row.

Speaker 7 (49:59):
To it seven and season, and they they fell to
four and seven.

Speaker 5 (50:06):
Or in the Rams or.

Speaker 7 (50:08):
Three and seven, and then they ran four straight wins
to get to seven and seven. Troy Aikman got hurt
in game fifteen, Babe came in. They lost that one
and the start the next one in Atlanta, and nobody
wanted to play. It's rainy, was muddy, and they still

(50:29):
had a chance to go to the playoffs at seven
and nine until either the Rams or the Saints they
were playing each other. I can't forget which one needed
to lose, uh, and they didn't.

Speaker 5 (50:43):
They kicked a last second.

Speaker 7 (50:44):
Field goal to win, and that eliminated the Cowboys from
the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (50:49):
All of that because that the Cowboys played the Chargers.
Bill yeh, all right.

Speaker 7 (51:00):
Year in nineteen ninety ninety seven and nine.

Speaker 5 (51:03):
Yeah, that was a good year.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
Good year because it turned ended up in Tampa Bay.
He's stuck.

Speaker 5 (51:09):
Oh for the show.

Speaker 3 (51:12):
I knew what sure saying. You didn't slip that by me?
I get that, Budy.

Speaker 5 (51:15):
See it all comes back to Everes, Okay, have a
very enjoyable football weekend and how about we do it
again at high noon on Monday.

Speaker 3 (51:27):
Go Cowboys, Cowboy Nation. I hope your team wins, even
if Phil does.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
