but who knows. Man, that team's on fire, and especially
at home. Pack out that q TV, I believe so
should be.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Just to translate, that's the name of the stadium. Yes,
at stadium, Yes, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Pack it out. I thought I was so upset that
I took my I took my son on the visit.
He was there last Saturday. Uh so he went to
he was invited to a game, and I was upset.
I'm like, these guys are going for five and oh
and I know it's an eleven o'clock game. It was,
it was. It was full, but not as full as
it should have been.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
These saturdays have been pretty steamy though, too. And if
you don't are not in the shade, you have to tell.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
You don't have to tell me. I was out there.
So here, I am at the stadium. No one's paying
me to be here. And it's hot, all right.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Well things are heating up here on mixed shots.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
You guys like the list I sent you this morning
is pretty long, but I had plenty of stuff in there.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Bill, I didn't see every morning ever. I was listening

Speaker 4 (02:38):

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Heard the voice man, you know, it was Mike from ESPN,
And then I heard this other deal man sounds like
a brother man.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Okay, who is this man?
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Mister heck Ma has a doing Friday night job moonlights.
He moonlightsall moonlight.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
We play.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Yeah, he moonlighted all day Saturday. What do we talk about?
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Meanwhile, Mickey's all dressed up today.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (03:09):
A business business attire Tuesday for you?
Speaker 6 (03:12):
BBS eleven?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Okay, eight twenty, Okay, I'll start checking that out.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yeah he was surprised, Yeah, surprise.
Speaker 6 (03:24):
Now wait, yeah, he does some of them.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
During the Fortunately I actually missed out. Fortunately not been
asked to do it this season.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
So well we got you if I seduled here tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Okay, all right, all right, And how do you know
that he.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Does not because I just talked my way out of
doing Thursdays on Tuesday?
Speaker 4 (03:47):
All right, let's move on. Before we let's move on.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
We watched the Monday Night football last night a little bit. Yeah,
we scouted our next opponent so boring.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
It was so boring both games.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah, both games. You could see that. In the first
game when the Jets are playing the Dolphins, you kind
of anticipated that. And then when you consider what the
Bengals are trotting out there these days, playing at the Broncos,
that wasn't gonna be much of it.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Say good luck. We ran out the words just good luck.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Well, we had some breaking news last night in the
Dallas for sporting community as Bruce Bochie and the Texas
Rangers are parting ways. They're looking for a new manager.
So I was dealing with that last night, and so
I then tuned in late or maybe an even third
quarter of the Broncos game, and they were talking about
the Cowboys Buck and Aikman where it was twenty one
(04:44):
to three. Yeah, I'm like, oh this. I thought I
was watching the Cowboys game again because they were just
talking about the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
Mark Chase wouldn't happen.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Yeah, I don't blame he's talking about talking to everybody.
I know it's not going to be at all.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Dad.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
I love that. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
He's going to the coach, Hey, coach, what do you
want me to do?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Now? Man?
Speaker 5 (05:05):
As a coach, what do you want me to do
right now? There's nothing I can do. Let's wait till
we get in the locker room.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
Should have offered him to hand them the ball. You
want to play running back?
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, we see how that turned out.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah, well you better you bet if you got a
starting quarterback, you better hope that starting quarterback stays your
starting quarterback and doesn't get hurt.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
And it doesn't matter who you are.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
That's right, all right? So what's the big concern right
now on this Tuesday morning is for a Tuesday afternoon. Now,
as far as this team is concerned, after seeing the
Jets last night and going forward, here got the Jets
and then Carolina.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
Making sure you keep fields in the pocket, you know what?
Speaker 3 (05:46):
You know what the big concern is. My big concern
is Okay, yeah, you had that forty forty tie on
Sunday night, but this game up coming up is bigger
than the last game. It's right, because you better or
beat the Jets.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
We always have to guard against complacency. I don't know why,
thank you.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
I mean, we talk about it. I imagine they're complacent.
You won one game, one and a half, one and
a half okay.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Once again, but.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
Understandings it says one right.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
That's if your glass half full, it's you've won one
and a half games. No, I don't see it that way.
I say that you won a game, and you really and.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
You've won one and a half games and you've lost
two and a half game.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Sure I'll take that.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Well. Any worry is the complacency, but also playing down
to the competition ever since. As you always talk about,
I think the Jets are bad team, and you know
they're they're head coach just like our head coaches, trying
to implement culture. Uh, they do play hard. They have
some names on defense, a couple of guys I wish
I could take them back on the plane. Oops. Yeah,
I can't say that. But they have a wide receiver,
(06:59):
Garrett Will. I think it's very good as well stretches
the field. Look, here's the thing. Brice Hall from Iowa State.
If you've ever watched this guy play, he was the
man coming out of Iowa State. Has had some injuries,
but still is a pretty serviceable running back in this league.
I think he's the key for them as well as
well as justin fields. You don't want to see him run.
(07:21):
But you also don't want to see Bruce Brice Hall
getting off on his Cowboys defense right now. I'm like you,
guys are looking at the all twenty two of the
last game and you're saying to yourself, Matt Ebraflus has
got to be kicking the desk saying to himself, what
do I have to do in order to fix this?
Can I keep it simple? Stupid? You know, like everybody says,
(07:43):
can I keep getting more simple than But I gotta,
I gotta, I gotta dumb it down even more so
that we don't have two guys running free on national television.
And there are times when the defense was there, but
the players just didn't make the trase true. And that
really on third down, we had several chances to get
(08:05):
off the field on third down.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
If I'm gonna concentrate on them, what.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
They were on third down?
Speaker 2 (08:11):
What was that? Eleven for fourteen.
Speaker 6 (08:13):
Eleven for fourteen and one for one on fourth down?
Speaker 5 (08:16):
So if you look at this game, several opportunities, So
what worn for fourteen? Several opportunities for us to stifle
a drive. I don't know if that's play calling as
much as is Guys don't have any heart they're afraid.
I mean, come on, when the time comes, I mean,
I am. I've been on the on the this is
(08:37):
my first time on the field.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
You know.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Here, I gotta make this play. Oh, got missed it. Man,
I feel bad about missing that play. Here there's another
third down. Oh, here's my chance up. Missed it. I
mean that's what I saw. I saw a bunch of mistackles.
I don't know who calculates that. I would imagine.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Well, they were still At the time of Schottenheimer's press
conference yesterday afternoon, he was asked specifically how many mistackles
they were. They were still, they.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Were still.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
He I think, I think he said, at this moment,
we're still counting it was.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
It was.
Speaker 6 (09:11):
It was bad. The total of mistackle.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
We need a number. I don't know.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
I don't but that bad is bad.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
That's not the system. That's the player. Yeah, that's the players.
That's not the system.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
I can't put that on before so Bill asked, what
are you worried about? I think their biggest worries themselves.
I don't care what the Jets got. You got to
take care of yourself. You've got to correct the mistake.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Clean up your own house.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
That sounds good.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
That sounds like.
Speaker 6 (09:42):
What's the place that cleans your house? Pro something or
the other pro serve whatever. Yeah, just take care of yourself,
make make make tackles right, Uh, perform your assignment right.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
You know I thought there was. I'm encouraging things from
young guys, right, which bodes well going forward. But you
just got a third down is just awful, just and
trying to work hard to get to it.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
I was trying to enjoy myself and the hon this club.
I'm big tim and you know I'm up there with
the rubbing.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Shoulders with the big time.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Wow, I know, I mean it was dropping. I had
to man, it was so unique, you know.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
And I'm trying to eat and like casing at the
man while I'm trying to eat, be cool food, not
going down well, mistackles all over the place.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Man, Yes, that was.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
If you're like that on third down, you're not going
to be able to beat anybody eleven for fourteen. Your
offense can't even help you when your defense can't get
off the field. And that's again the rest, well, they
are getting plenty of rest extended drives and I think
eleven for fourteen, and then I asked the number about
the tackles simply because I think in the football game,
what you expect five or six, but maybe ten to sixteen.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
You know, it was more than that.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I hope not. I hope not. I really don't, cause
this defense really needs something to feel good about. Man,
it's over the last couple of weeks. Man, these guys
haven't really had much, and every week has got to
be hell for them.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
Well, I mean, if nothing else, when you have an
offense like this that's doing well instead of trying to
pale and being considered to be pale in comparison, yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Be inspired by them. You know.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
Okay, guys, man, y'all did it again. Yeah, man, we
got your back, almost got your cussing up. Sometimes got
show you I got you back, just onetime. I mean,
the offense would appreciate. Just give me one stop and
all of a sudden we'll be thinking momentum.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
We'll be thinking optimistically as opposed to pessimisticy.
Speaker 6 (11:49):
You know, the sad part is two of their third
down stops came in overtime, but the first one met
fourth down. Because you're in overtime. I was there one
fourth down there one fourth and sixth, and then they
stopped them on third down to force the field goal.
So they really didn't stop them. They really third down
(12:13):
if you think about it, because you gave me.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
They didn't stop the drive. Yeah, stop hitting.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Can I guys? Can I clean something up from yesterday? Yes?
Because I see you, guys that the people that listen
to our show a little different. They tweet you immediately
after the show. I just want everybody know that I
know the rules of overtime, okay, and that I do
know that they were going to get the ball back, okay.
So when I was talking about going for it on
(12:39):
fourth down, I just just want I knew I knew
you okay, Okay, I just when you said it, I
knew you know okay.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yeah, I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
You know what, It didn't take away from your point.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Your point was nobody agreed with nobody agreed with me.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
Well, here's another level of concern on that series of downs,
on not going for it on fourth down. So I
went back and looked at the first three plays right
first and goal at the five span, Ford and Bass
(13:17):
pulled and they missed Gary. He went unblocked. That's why
he made the.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Tackle Williams for a one yard game.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
Yeah, they pulled and he's right here and this guy
went here, and this guy went here and Noble.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
So there's bust on offense too.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
There was a bust on that play. Second down, Pickens
got doubled and he tried to go in and then
he tried to go out like he did on the
touchdown pass was a Giants the Giants game, and he
wasn't open and comes from the right side, right, and
(13:58):
he's chasing down at the twelve yard.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Line and Ferguson, Ferguson guy block and he missed the
block well. And and Schottenheimer said yesterday, which we should
have by himself, we should have had Javante over there
right helping him.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
And then third in goal, he's lay.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
That Schottenheimer admitted yesterday, didn't light He didn't. He wasn't
proud of the play call. And he was looking right accountability.
He was looking right and.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
Williams was open.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
So he was open in the flat, but he was
running sidewalk trying to look there well, and he was
running sideways. There was a corner who would have come
off and would have at least made contact with him,
whether he made the tackle or not, probably would have.
I don't think Gavante would have got to the end zone,
(14:48):
primarily because he's running towards the sideline to catch the ball.
That's right, and there's enough. There was a defender over
there in position, and the other.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
The open guy was and the right and Steele would
have got called for holding. I saw that, and and
and Smith and Hoffman missed the block in the middle
which caused Dak.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
To he couldn't look pocket was collapsing. Yeah, and he
just so.
Speaker 6 (15:15):
Now, if you're the play caller and you sit there
and go, okay, we malfunctioned on the first three drives
from the place from the five, Do I give him
a fourth? Or do I take the field goal? And
by the way, to go through his mind also just
to influence him not to not to say, well, you
(15:35):
should have gone for it or not. But when you're yeah,
if you're deciding should I kick it, you're saying, well,
he didn't function very well on the first three plays.
What's my thought that we're going to do well on
the fourth? Plus I needed the points.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
You think you think a timeout would have been wanted.
Speaker 6 (15:53):
How many do you get because they already had taken two,
but then they were done. They were done, right because
they took one on I thought they took well, maybe
the second one was on defense. I take that back,
but I thought they took timeouts.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
And this I don't know. I just being at the game,
watching the defense and the way that they function. I'm
just saying this, this team, for as hard as they fought,
for as long as they fought, if that game was
gonna end in a tie, I was cheese lou because
of It's just how hard they fought. And at that point,
the defense, to me, if hold them to a field goal,
(16:31):
if anything right, I would have bet anything that you
can hold them to just a field goal, right, but touchdown,
they're gonna have to drive it all the way down
on you. They're gonna have to do They're gonna have
to do that. This is this is what I'm saying
to win the game basically in that in that scenario,
and if I'm the Cowboys, I'm thinking Lafloor, if he
gets down there and he does score, it would have
(16:52):
probably been a decision for him to go for two
to win the game.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
So you'd had your.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Yes, yes, if made a touch I'm living in land
of if right now. Okay, we score, we kicked the
extra point, We kick off to them, they have to drive.
They score a touchdown, But then do they kick the
field goal to tie it up or do they go
for the win?
Speaker 3 (17:13):
They don't go for two to win. They didn't go
for they didn't go for the win. They didn't go
for the win. When they had an opportunity at the
fifteen yard line on they were throwing out in the
flat twice.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
I mean, they weren't.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
They weren't it. It was like it was don't do it,
don't do it. Let me just stay And I'm thinking
myself further in the hole, trying to get away.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
And I asked him the way Lafleur was playing it
on the sideline, he was playing for the field goal.
He was at the end even after when they didn't
have any timeouts left and the clock goes all the
way down to nothing. He was had to be shocked
that Love was throwing for the m zone there just
for the urgency.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
We got lucky. They got the got lucky, and we
could have gotten lucky on it.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
They got the ball back with four forty to go,
plenty of game playing the twenty. They went all the
way to the twelfth, all right, and there was still
thirty two seconds.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
And yeah, they had a couple of plays to play with. Yeah,
they really did.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
And I'm sure the way he called the plays he
wanted to make sure. Well, we're gonna try to score
a touchdown, but I don't want to lose the field goal.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
I gotta say, I understand where heck is coming from,
because at this point our offense is on the road.
They really haven't stopped us much in the second half.
Go with your strength, go with your momentum. You're saying
no momentum because you messed up three plates place. Yeah so,
but if you have someone as hot as our offense
(18:39):
was at that time, yeah, let's just roll the dice.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Guys. You know, the momentum is there. We're right here.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
We wonder what four yard line or whatever, it's only
four yards away. We finally we get it four yards away.
That's our best opportunity. I do understand that. And considering
the fact that your defense hadn't stopped them all day,
that also bowls for me. Saying I'm going to go
for the seven because they could easily go down and
(19:06):
score the way things have been going all day. So
I get what you're saying, but it ended up being.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
What you're doing is you're basically betting the game on
one play.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
That's it. Yeah, that's it. And that's a hell of
a gamble. And that's a And I've talked to I
won't say your name on air, but I've talked to
a player, former Dallas Cowboy player, and it's like, you
don't know what that what those guys are like over
there in that locker room. You don't know how fragile
the mentality is over there. So you don't know if
losing a game like that where a coach makes a decision,
(19:37):
what that says to your locker room. So I get it.
There's so many different intangibles to making that decision that
imminently ending in the tie was the right thing to do,
because I guess nobody's feelings a brill.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
If you were a player and your coach said, I
believe in you guys, you know, let's go for it.
I believe in my offense, and then you guys, I mean,
the play was there, but you got another someone mess
up again, like the first three players. Do they still
feel good about their coach? I mean they should because
he put the ball in their hand, the faith in you,
and if they don't make it as a coach, I
(20:11):
feel good.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Welcome. I gave it to you, Yes, I gave it
to you. I shall appreciate you coming over here to
this lonely place. I've been sitting here for a minute. Man,
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
But they won't get blamed for the loss.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
You, Yeah, that's who will take it.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
There you go right.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
I'm looking at the fourth and sixth play at the
twenty four yard line. I'm like, I'm thinking, Okay, that's
where you can win the game. Okay, you all got
to do a stop them on fourth and six. Yeah.
I'm sitting there looking at at that play. And they
threw it to Golden over the middle.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Over the middle, three cowboys standing.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Around, there's two other there's a tight end and a
running back in the flat. There's nobody near them. Love
had three different places to go with that football. Yeah,
to convert on that.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
And he picked the guy that was getting covered by Murray.
How do you have Murray?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Well, Murray was dropped I know he was second break.
Let's take a break and come back and ever since.
I will let Everson look at the play and we'll
talk about it when we come back here, I'll make
shots in just a second.
Speaker 7 (21:14):

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Rest in peace?
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Man?
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Come on other our bagel. Romo passed away a couple
of years ago.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
What beagle do you have?
Speaker 3 (24:13):
And I don't have a beagel anymore. The other one
passed away a year ago.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Chris the room.
Speaker 10 (24:19):
That was the best part of the That was the
best part of COVID. What the feet and it's a

They had good lives.
Speaker 10 (24:35):
But if anybody has the beagle want to donate to Bill,
he's taking us.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Probably not taking.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
We've got two other big old, big old dogs now.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
So good as we'll see them in a dog day eleven,
the time that the Cowboys play.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
That's a good question.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
Don't they have a noon start?
Speaker 2 (24:56):
That's got to be they have noon.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
It's a jit, it's got to be a noon game.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
They're not. It's not this.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Oh which game is it? Which Sunday?
Speaker 6 (25:03):
Is it Carolina game? Oh?
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Well, that's definitely a new Carolina Is that noon? So
is the Jets yet?
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Two? Yeah? Jets at noon?
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
And by the way, the Cowboys will be back home
to take on the Commanders a three twenty five kickoff
on Sunday, October nineteenth.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
Well, they're looking forward to an uneventful road game.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
That's right, no weather, and we need to have one
of those twenty three to ten games or thirty.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
The boy defense.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah, Stims said yesterday, one of these weeks, we're going
to have a ten three game.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Hey, guys, that ain't gone. I would say, be ready.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Don't have it all right, Everson, you took a look
at the fourth and sixth play from the twenty four
in overtime for the Packers, and so what did you
make of it?
Speaker 4 (26:03):
That was a cover two that they were playing.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Diggs was playing loosely on his side because there was
no threat from the backs coming out of the backfield the
other side. I don't know who that was. I guess
was Bland that was playing brought him inside. He stayed
about fifteen yards because he was looking back at the
quarterback and all you saw was a quarterback love. That
was everything was timing, West coast timing, everything was timing.
(26:28):
As soon as his back foot hit, he threw the
ball and that was Golden that ended up catching it.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
What's the guys? Ready, Ready, Ready.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Was trying to go down the scenes with him, but
he didn't run the scene.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
He faked going the scene. He pivoted came right back
to the curl.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Route because they needed six yards for a fast It's all.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
They needed was twelve years.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
But so now Ready, of course we're thinking, oh, let
me take this scene because we've been getting burned by
the scene all year long.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
And that's what he was playing for.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
And I think Golden knew that because the move that
he made, he faked going up the scene, pivoted came
back wide open.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
It was almost as if they were matching up.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Man the man, and they did a good job. I saw, uh.
They doubled Kenny Clark and the guy cut Fowler on
the pass rush, and they didn't really get there.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
They weren't going to get there. Even if you could
let show it release, he's not going to get there.
That's the West coast.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
West coast, So you're you can't even you can't send
a linebacker, You can't send five.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
You could send the linebacker, get it out, but the
odds of him getting there one two, three, four boom.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
So its hands up?
Speaker 4 (27:40):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Can we talk about it? Something possible?
Speaker 5 (27:43):
They did that pretty much the entire fourth quarter. They
didn't give him a chance for the sack as much
as they could because everything was about timing, and that
is a problem because we don't reroute receivers, so they
are free to go down the field untouched, which I
(28:03):
think is a flaw in this technique.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Well, I was just gonna hit on something positive silver
lining from the game, and that's Kenny Clark as I
just saw you guys, you just mentioned him. Having ninety
five on that defensive line is different. It's different to
see a guy playing that technique and playing it well
too gap and shooting the gap. However, he is getting
it done for us upfront, and you can tell the
(28:28):
difference that he makes even for Osa Diggi Zua, the
way that he plays also when it's those two ninety
five and ninety seven in the game at the same time.
So man, I don't think Cowboy fans even realize the
benefit yet of having Kenny Clark on the defensive line
because of how bad perception, you know, how bad the
defense is playing.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
He played fifty eight snaps in that game too, fifty
eight of the seventy eight snaps on defense, and Osa
was at fifty three snaps. So they use that combo
in there a lot in that yet it's a lot
snaps for interior.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
It was.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
It was a different look in regards to Caleb Williams
just sitting back there having all day.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Uh, they did a lot of play action.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
You didn't see Love and those guys doing a lot
of play actions. So once again, the blitz is gonna
get there. You got to disrupt him with the hands up,
but otherwise they're not going to be sitting back there
with a five to seven step drop.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
No, this everything was quick.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
Everything was quick, except for the third play of the
game or whatever it was when they hit the deep pass. Yeah, first,
but he had a lot of.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
That's not really their game though, Yeah, play action.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
I just didn't see much of it to where he's
back there able to survey the field in that manner.
They wouldn't allowing him to do that, but they still
weren't able to get to him as much as he wanted.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
To players that we need more from Clowny.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
I thought he did all right. I mean he only
played twenty that's not bad.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
I got it twenty three twenty.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
How'd you feel against his past? How'd you feel about
his past? Rush? And he's pretty solid snaps?
Speaker 6 (30:09):
Thought he did? I thought he I mean there were
times there was some pressure and he looked like a
guy that hadn't played any football in a year. But
I thought he was active. And I like the fact
that he went to the head coach after the game
in the locker room and apologize for not being more
of a factor in the game.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
How many snaps did he tell you he went that
forty six six years ago? Okay, he did get there,
he didn't get.
Speaker 6 (30:38):
The forty halfway there. I don't think they figured he
was going to do that at age. What is he now,
thirty thirty, two, thirty three, whatever it is?
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Stop. But it was enough. It was enough too. I
was still balling sid.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
So yeah, and I thought, you know, I pick to
click by the way as a Roku and he Schottenheimer
and Jerry said that he's he's coming along like that
was his best game. He was really active, and they
see him getting better game by game by game. So
(31:15):
I'm thinking, let's see he had forty forty snaps. I
bet he gets some more because he's doing a better
job against the run. Now. I know there was one
run play that he got caved in and Jacobs got outside.
But he's turning into more of a a full defensive end,
(31:36):
not just a designated pass run.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
He played seventeen special team snaps too.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Yeah wow, and he was a saw go for it.
Speaker 6 (31:45):
Just when you tackle the guy for a loss, don't
push him in the ground again.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
And let's see Dante Fowler with thirty four snaps for
Dante's Fowler, he played forty snaps.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
Yeah, yeah, I want to get more out of him.
Was playing.
Speaker 6 (32:02):
I wonder, well, we haven't seen we haven't seen much yet.
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
He's got three tackles on the season that you're but
his expertise is two quarterback pressures, two quarterback hits as
far as the NFL not the coaching film, so.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
They need I really expected more of him.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
They needed more from that. Yeah, yeah, But I think
the the encouraging thing is that they had young guys
out there playing, playing more and sort of playing well.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
I mean in moments, in moments.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
Think about Nate Thomas going in there and playing both
tackle positions in the same game.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Now, that was positive. I mean that was positive, especially
when you came in here on a Wednesday, I believe
it was, and asking the question who were we more
terrified for? Was it the center guard comeball? Was it
the tackles? And it ended up being neither. Well, everybody
played for your solid with help.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
And the significant thing on that he didn't go into
the game initially due to injury. He went in in
a rotation basically where Steel came out for four plays
and he came in and played right tackle, and it
was that was a coach's decision. He's going in like that.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Yeah, I have never liked coaches that rotated offensive.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Well, well, I think it wasn't a rotation. No, I
misspoke by saying rotation. It wasn't a rotation, but they
did give him some time early in the What did
in the first half of the game, what would you
call it?
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Were you about to say?
Speaker 6 (33:30):
They were preparing him to play.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
And Shot Nimer talked about it yesterday with him and
with Shamar James. We're getting these young guys on the
field because they're going to, as he put it, they're
going to need them sometime, but also just to see
how they do.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
And remember the guy played.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Fourteen fourteen pass snaps, pass protection snaps and did not
give up a pressure.
Speaker 6 (33:55):
Nice and think what steals You know what, He's susceptible,
dude getting beat in pass rush. So I'm thinking they
were thinking. No one said this, but if Steel starts
struggling with Micah, we might need to get somebody else
out there in those passings.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
At your point, like that, you better hope a move
like that works well.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
He had him out there and taking advantage.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Yeah, to your point, consider who they were going up against, Yes,
and they're picking to get him some rents.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
This is Sunday Night, Man.
Speaker 6 (34:30):
Sunday Night. In overtime, when Guyton gets the concussion, he
went to the left.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Tack and so he had already gotten a blow. I mean,
you've got a chance earlier in the game.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
I see that. That's what I'm talking about. Next man up,
that's the mentality that I'm talking about. And I'm saying shot,
he's looking for a lot of those guys on the
team right now.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
He's looking at his practice field. Guys.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
Which one of those can show me what cams just
showed me? That's good stuff.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Man.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Well, the other thing he tells you is they've they've
paid Terrence Steele a lot of money. I mean, he's
on an eighty million dollars time tract. And for the
coaches to have the freedom to be able to, Okay,
if you want to play this second year player I'd
never played in an NFL game before, go for it.
You know, that's your coaches decision.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
So so, guys, are we prepared to have the conversation
about the linebackers, Sam?
Speaker 3 (35:18):
And we're going to have that when we come back
here on Mixed Shots. In just a moment, we're talking
to linebackers.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Next.
Speaker 8 (35:26):

That's the day before the commanders are here next twelve
game on the nineteenth of October. All right, Cowboys have
lost player off the practice squad, Buddy Johnson, oh No
added to the Indianapolis Colts. According to Aaron Wilson k
p r C. Well, he's gotten playing time. They haven't
(38:15):
elevated in the last couple of games. Did the first
to first.
Speaker 6 (38:19):
And for uh special teams purposes linebacker.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
And he was elevated the first game against Philadelphia. He
has not been elevated since then to the last three games.
So he gets so he gets signed by the Colts
and that's a three game varsity guarantee for him.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
So Bill, I need to do this in real Bill
Jones fashion. Buddy Johnson from Kimball Highest, Right, come on.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
No, I was I was going there.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
Okay, he's cutting off, trying to tell us what he knows.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Uh now he's not that that's so good. So that's
and that's the kind of stuff I thought happened to us.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
He'll be back.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
That guy's getting poached off of the practice squad.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Yeah, well that's men happen, And it happened last week
with Zion Childress went to Houston. And that shows you
you've done a pretty good job in your scouting department,
your personnel department, where you got guys that other teams want.
They're sitting there on your practice.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
Squad was the ones that we have on the field,
we neither reverse that.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Okay, uh and uh.
Speaker 6 (39:27):
The Leie Hooker update, Yeah, it sounds like Cooker. Schottenheimer
mentioned he'd be out a couple of weeks. So he's
got a toe injury. So that means that they jan
Yer Thomas took over for him in the game when
he got hurt, and I would imagine that means he's
the next guy up.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Big, big week for jan Ye because he's going up
against his brother, Azara Thomas for the Jets.
Speaker 6 (39:53):
Hey, and the guy turned the guy turned the game
around with the block.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
Oh after that, I if they can't extra point, I
don't think we have over time.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (40:04):
I mean, I just don't think.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
I don't think.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
The way it looks, I mean, because we were able to,
you know, make the comeback.
Speaker 6 (40:12):
We had those block a kick and it goes right
into your guy's hands and your guy returned it the
whole way.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Michael down, Yeah, Michael down down.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Marqui smell and tell us why this is a significant Tuesday.
So all the guys that were on the reserve list
had to from the start of the season had to
be on there for four games. So the four games
are up, so now they're eligible to start them practicing. Uh,
if they so choose, and if they're ready, and you
(40:46):
can have twenty one days to have them practice before
you have to make a move to either leave them
on I R or NFI for the rest of the
season or you to activate him.
Speaker 6 (41:01):
On the fifty three. How many guys so thinking that? Uh?
Pertains to Jonathan Mingo, Josh Butler, Kayling Carson, and Savann Revel.
I think that's the four guys that are in that situation.
You can call him reel savone Revel Did I say Revel?
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Sorry?
Speaker 4 (41:22):
I keep I think it should be Reveled. He's he's
he got French.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
That's why we have to remind.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Right, that's that's French all the way and.
Speaker 6 (41:34):
And so uh it and Schottenheimer said that there could
be some movement they needed to talk about it. So
they probably have a couple guys. I would think Kayling,
Carson and Mingo, since they at least had been in
training camp, could start practicing.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (41:54):
And you know they they elevated Jalen Cock cop Cropper
for the game off the practice squad. So I think
if Mingo will see how much time he needs to
get ready to play.
Speaker 4 (42:08):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (42:09):
And then Kaitlin Carson also participated. Shoulder Carson Carson, it
was either shoulder or hamstring. He was a hamstring he
was recovering.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
AuSn Uh.
Speaker 6 (42:30):
So those guys, you might start them practicing and say,
all right, are they ready to play on Sunday or
do they need another week now? As for revel Uh,
I was talking to him yesterday and I said, so,
your rehab looks really good, and he goes, I am
doing well, And I said, what do you think And
(42:51):
he said, I haven't played a game in a year,
and he reminded me they got hurt towards a cl
the third game in East Carolina season last year. So
not only has he not played, he had practice and
put a helmet on. So he's going to need some
time Tony.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
One day day ramp up is going to be important
for him, Yes, as well. But Kayln Carson, it was
his knee.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
He obviously I was about to say that he had
a hyperincented knee on July twenty ninth. Okay, and so
at the time of the end of camp that was
a roster move that they made.
Speaker 6 (43:26):
So and at least he played last year, right so.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
But he had injury issues.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
They would love.
Speaker 4 (43:32):
I was going to say to get him out there,
right and then he did much time.
Speaker 6 (43:37):
And then everybody keeps reminding us about Overshown. Meaning when
you're talking about the linebackers, they know eventually he's going
to be ready. You know, they kept saying Thanksgiving. But
think about it. Thanksgiving is four days after the Sunday game, right,
so there's no day, no way a guy comes back
(43:58):
and plays on Sunday and then four days later is
ready to go again on Thanksgiving. Or if he doesn't
play on Sunday, he's not going to practice one day.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
Coming off a rehab.
Speaker 6 (44:08):
Yeah, right, so he's got to be ready early November
to be able to play that part of the otherwise
you gotta wait till after thanks.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
I got more unpopular opinion. I wouldn't bring him back
this year. This guy is a cl M C l
pcl moniscus.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
So then what do you do about the linebacker position?
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Well, I mean that's a segue.
Speaker 4 (44:32):
You're lying.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Well, the brightest spot, the brightest spot in our future
is agent zero is Overshown. They were ports in time
in the game, I'm watching him blitzing. I'm saying, oh
my god, he would have definitely gotten to the quarterback
because of his speed. Right now, I'm just I think
when I'm Jack Sambourne, when I was talking about him,
I'm literally he had eleven tackles. At the end of
the game. When I checked the stat sheet and I
(44:54):
was there watching the game and it didn't I was like, wow,
he had eleven tackles.
Speaker 6 (44:57):
While you you concentrated another ones you missed.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
I don't know what I was whatever I was stuck out,
It's just whatever I saw. When I looked at eleven tackles.
I was saying to myself, what.
Speaker 5 (45:09):
He had eleven tackle He was all over the place,
but he wasn't always successful.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
Correct exactly got five yards down the field?
Speaker 4 (45:17):
Yeah, well, I mean sometimes that ain't his fault.
Speaker 5 (45:20):
If a linebacker's tackling five downs because someone didn't slow
him down. But if he's down the field and he
misses that tackle, then that's something.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
That he saved.
Speaker 4 (45:30):
The tie.
Speaker 6 (45:33):
Put in the back right, Too bad it didn't pop
up and said.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
Why didn't you just turn around? It's too bad?
Speaker 6 (45:39):
Sure, he was so worried about getting there.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
He followed up, yes he did, Yes, he did, so
he had They.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Both almost ran into the gold post.
Speaker 6 (45:49):
So I thought I thought it was indicative. There were
times when they were out there on one of their
change up defenses that they only had one linebacker out
there and it wasn't him, it was Murray. So usually
that's the guy you keep out there, your middle linebacker,
and so I think that was indicative. And the fact
that Shamar James played what you.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
And on that fourth down play it was Shamar James
and Kenneth Murray on the field.
Speaker 11 (46:17):
Right.
Speaker 6 (46:17):
He played twenty six snaps. They're getting him ready. They
see the athletic ability he has, and I think he's
going to start getting more snaps. And they had him
ready to be well. Luis File was the third because
they had they had Dimon Clark inactive, but they had
(46:38):
James active. So that tells you that they are seeing
something that they want to get him on the field.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Can I tomorrow's show? Can we talk about Blue the
running back tomorrow?
Speaker 4 (46:50):
Can I?
Speaker 2 (46:50):
Can I go ahead and put that in?
Speaker 4 (46:52):
Okay, Blue the rundown Man.
Speaker 6 (46:55):
No, No, we got it already. First First, First, segment,
Blue is gonna take over. Okay, Well, you know the
other guy that's also eligible to come off is Ma MafA.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
I like him.
Speaker 2 (47:11):
I already got them.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
I got Williams off of IS insurance.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 6 (47:18):
And if they need somebody, they can.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
He's good special teams too, right.
Speaker 6 (47:24):
Right, yeah, yeah, So they've got guys coming back. But
as I pointed out today on the fan, it's like, Okay,
it's great, these guys are gonna come back. Now you've
got to make room for him. Somebody's got to go.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
That's tomorrow show, right, Okay, that's tomorrow shows.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
We still got to get back to the linebackers.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
Yeah, I'm more on the line I hear. I'm working
with more more on the linebackers tomorrow too. So Blue linebackers,
I'm still sitting the list.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
They don't even have to.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
Change, all right, all right, and how about we do
it again tomorrow at high noon?
Speaker 4 (47:59):
All right, old Cowboys, ready for you this time.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
