Once again.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Here's Michael Bumpus.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Seahawks win on the roll thirty to twenty five, defeating
the Los Angeles Rams, improvement to ten and seven and
tine a franchise record for wins on the road seven
of those things on the row seven to one. Gino
got paid today. Hits him in cinemas Man. He made
six million dollars today. He was twenty of twenty seven,
two hundred and twenty three yards and four touchdowns, which

(00:42):
is a career high.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
He was only sacked two times.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Zach Sharpney had fourteen carries for fifty nine yards. Kenny
Mack and jow seven for forty nine. Gino had two
runs for fourteen yards. Noah Fense scored his first touchdown
of the year. He had five catches for sixty three yards.
Dk metcalf miss This is one thousand yard season by
a few yards. He had three catches for fifty three
yards in one touchdown. AJ Barner had a score. We're

(01:07):
seeing if JSM was going to break the single season
receptions record.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
He ties it. He had four catches on the day.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Tyrese Knight led all guys on defense with ten tackles.
He had Ernest Jones with nine, Devin Witherspoon with eight
tackles and two passes defended. The Hawks improved to ten
and seven. Mike McDonald the first Seahawk coach in franchise
history to get ten wins his very first season.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
The Hawks were six for.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Eleven on third downs and the rounds were five for four. Team,
we got lots to do when we come back, We're
gonna break this all down the season. I got Big Red,
got Brian Watches and Paul Moyer. That's coming him next
on the un Call Bank Radio Network. This is the
Seahawks post game show on Michael bumpas with the Fellas.
The Hawks improved to ten and seven on the year.

(01:56):
We are joined now by the voice of the Seahawks,
Steve rabel Ray.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
That's how we're doing.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
I'm tired, but I'm thrilled for these guys. You know
you could tell during pregame warm ups down on the
field with the players and coaches, how much they wanted
to play this game, how excited they were to get
back on the field and have one more opportunity to
win another game. And man, it took almost every bit

(02:22):
of the sixty minutes for him to do it, but
they found a way. And I don't care what people say, Well,
they played against a bunch of backups for the Rams. Listen,
those guys are professionals and they would be playing in
games for the starters.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
Where those starters hurt.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
So the Seahawks did what they had to do, and
it was a tough slog. At times. They made enough
mistakes maybe to lose the game, but they didn't. They
won this football game, and that's all it counts.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
So there are some things we were looking for this game,
rave seeing if JSN was going to break Tyler Lockett's
single season receptions record. He ends up tying it, and
I letd at Paul Moyer and he made a good point,
he said, that's probably fitting.

Speaker 7 (02:59):
Right.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
We don't know what's going to happen with Tyler Lockett,
if it'll be back or not, but to tie the
record with Tyler on the squad seems about fitting.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
Yeah, I think it is.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
You know, I know that Tyler was the first guy
to go up to JSN in the last couple of
weeks and say, listen, this record is on the line
and you have a chance to break it. I hope
you do, but I think you're right deep down, all
of us kind of like the thought of Tyler Lockett
hanging on to a record like that for a while longer.
Who knows how long it took a long time to
set that mark at one hundred and one. So yeah,

(03:31):
I'm happy for JSN. He had a great season, a
breakout year. He has proven his certain worth not only
to this team, but his ability to do just about
anything he's asked. Go deep, run the short routes, run
go against men, a man coverage zone, make big catches.
He's done it all. Run the ball on a fly,

(03:51):
sweep out of the backfield. He can do it all.
So it's been fun watching him and he's only going
to get better.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Big Hat had himself a day as well.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
He has two secs and now up to what eleven
secs the most buying and tear defensive lineman. This was
a move that I think Schneider's grinning about, and obviously
the rest of the Seahawks fans are what did he
mean to this team this year?

Speaker 8 (04:11):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (04:12):
What can you say about Big Kat?

Speaker 5 (04:13):
There's so many things that he's able to do inside
that we don't see. You know, He's not the guy
on every defensive formation and every defensive call to get
a chance to make a sack. Sometimes his job is
to draw the double team and let somebody else do
the work. Those guys up front have to be selfless.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
And they are. They have all played that way this season.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
That's what Mike McDonald demands of his defense, and that's
why those guys play so well together, and why when
you threw in Tyrese Knight and Ernest Jones right behind
them as linebackers, that defense.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Really came together.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
But Leo Williams is one of a kind, and I
hope he's going to be here a long time. He's
a wily veteran, but he's also just such a big,
physical player. He's tough to he's tough to get around
when you try to run around him, and hey, ask
other guys. TH's guys for quarterbacks. He can drop back

(05:08):
into coverage and take it ninety two to the house
with a pick. So this guy can play for as
long as he is physically capable.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Last one I got for your raves. Gino Smith had
a great day. Twenty of twenty seven two into twenty
three yards, four touchdowns, completed seventy four percent of his
passes today, needed to complete sixty nine to hold the
franchise record to become the ninth quarterback excuse me, nineteen
quarterback in NFL history to finish the season with seventy
percent completion percentage. Man, it's it's been an up and

(05:38):
down season for Gino when you look at the bigger
picture of it. But end of the day, successful year
for that guy. What did this season mean to him
and for this team?

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Well, it certainly means a lot of things.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
You know, right now he continues to be the quarterback
in the next season for the Seahawks. You don't know
what happens every off season. Everybody, every team is different
and there are certain salary cap situations that you have
to take into account. But if I had to guess,
I would say that Gino really likes it here and

(06:10):
he would really like to stay here and play, And
I think John Schneider and Mike McDonald and the offensive
coaches like Gino and know that he can make plays.
I mean, you don't complete over seventy percent of your
passes and not be a good thrower. Today, four touchdowns,
no picks. Only had a couple of them that even
were in the range of maybe being close to intercepted,

(06:31):
and they weren't.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Gino had a terrific game today.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
He is as good you know when he is on,
as pretty much anybody out there, and he can make
throws into traffic that not a lot of guys can
for completions and touchdowns. So a great season in so
many ways for Gino. And everybody's going to point to
the interceptions. Yeah, I get it, but some of those
weren't his fault. He played well enough for this team
to win ten games, and probably well enough for this

(06:54):
team to win more than that.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
We just didn't.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
But let's see what happens next season, one seas further
along in this offensive system and one season longer with
all of his weapons. I think Gino's can only get
better each season.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Agree one hundred percent raise for the last time this year, man,
I appreciate you and everything you do, and to represent
the Seahawks and get home.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
To your bride safely. Man, I'll talk to you soon
and bump.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
We appreciate you guys, Thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
All right, that was the voice Steve Rable.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Today's game is brought to you by ticket Master, the
official ticket marketplace of the Seattle Seahawks and the NFL.
Lots more to do when we come back. We're gonna
break this whole thing down. A Seahawks win thirty to
twenty five. Seahawks win their final game on the road,
improve it to seven to one on the road and
winning ten games this season. On Michael Bubbas with Ray Roberts,

(07:44):
Brian Waltters, and Paul Moyer. This game didn't mean much
if you look at it from thirty thousand feet. Now
you get you get a ground level. There's some things
that needed to happen here, allright. You got Gino who
hit a couple of incentives. We're looking to see if
JSN was going to break Tyler Locket's record. We have
dk Metcalf who set a record of his own with
touchdown receptions. There are some things to play for him,

(08:07):
and the Rams didn't suit their best when it came
to that offense. But that offense actually played pretty good defensively.
They have their guys out there, and the Hawks were
able to put up thirty points overall. Man, you can
look at this game and I'm already getting some text
in of people saying it didn't mean anything. But if
they would have lost his game, Paul Moyer, it would
have meant something to him.

Speaker 9 (08:25):
Well, it would have meant something. It did mean something
to the Rams, and then they were playing their tails off.
And look, I've already got a couple of my text too.
I go, we put some guys on IR who would
have played today. Abraham Lucas probably would have played. I mean,
job we may have got. I mean, so you know,
let's just take that away. It was still a game.
It's NFL all that stuff, and both teams wanted to win.

(08:48):
I thought, here's the pause if we want ten wins.
Rookie coach Mike McDonald. If Mike is going to be
a very good head coach. We already know that his
leadership and his decision making, decisiveness and decision making with personnel,
scheme making changes this year. Man, it's I don't want
to say it's unprecedented, but it's really rare what he did.

(09:09):
I'm excited to see now that with him and John
Schneider really understanding each other towards this offseason, some young
guys got to get more playing time. Look Mike Durrell,
you know right tackle. You know he's going to continue
to get better. He got to start another game. Who
would have thunk that he would have even had a
chance to start any game this year. We had Pritchett
who was in there. He gots he got a learning lesson.

(09:31):
I'm going to keep that part. He got a lot
of experience today. And when you go up against McVeigh offense,
you're going to get you're gonna get experienced very quickly
in their schemes because look, they weren't pushing the ball downfield. Man,
it's a lot of underneath stuff. It's a lot of
quick screen. I mean, you just got to be thinking
every single play. And you know, again, I think it

(09:52):
was great. Jsn TI's Tyler Lockett. I think that's very
fitting on that. You know, for for most catches in
the season, would have liked to see get a thousand.
You just want guys to hit their individual goals, but
the big one man with Player of the game. You know,
in my mind again we talked about it's just Leonard Williams.
How hard he played. I mean he had two sacks

(10:13):
and you go watch that game. How disruptive he was
with double teams and knife and through and intellectual all
that stuff. So took a lot of time there on
my postgame little piece. But stop it already. Ten wins,
very positive. I don't care who they played. You know,
they could have played their startings. We might have beat
their starters by thirty five points.

Speaker 10 (10:32):
Right, Yeah, I will just say like obviously, like as
a fan, you want to see the team success as
a fan is in the playoffs, super Bowls and all that.
But sometimes to get to that place, the team has
to have small victories. And this is part of that
small victory getting to the ten wins. Like you know,
we said at the beginning of the of the show,

(10:54):
the foundational pieces of it, the branding pieces of it,
the culture pieces of it, all of that stuff is
cemented in a game like this because it would be
very easy for christ McDonald to go like, eh, well
we're not playing for anything, Let's play a bunch of
backups and like we were talking about this could end
up being a preseason game, but he said early on
in the week, we're playing to win the football game.

(11:15):
And you saw starters play late into the game, you know, going,
you know, trying to win the football game. The play
calling was looked like it was designed to win football games,
and so all of that stuff matters, and so it
may not be the ultimate success that a fan would want,
but the season is a successful season for a first
year coach, and to win, to have ten wins and

(11:37):
to go into a game like this that really kind
of highlights the character of players when there's nothing quote
unquote to play for and you still show up and
you play to win the football game. That's also establishing culture.
Like we said before, look at Pete Carroll when he
first started two seven to nine seasons, Dan Campbell started
out three thirteen and one. So like it all bills

(11:59):
towards something, even though fans want the immediate, uh you know,
high level success right now.

Speaker 11 (12:06):
Yeah, I think I think what you said there is
dead on ray and the culture is the most important
thing here because you want you want guys to walk
into this building, into into the vMac, into the into
loom and Field, especially guys that have maybe never put
on a seat uniform yet you know coming in there's
gonna be some new guys next year, and you want
them to know that this team is all about winning
like that, that's what's important is winning.

Speaker 12 (12:25):
And when you go when you have.

Speaker 11 (12:27):
Nine and seven, you're out of the playoffs and and
you start playing backups, you don't then it's not about
winning for you, and and so I think going getting
that tenth win, Unfortunately, it's it's not the year to
have ten wins. That's what's uh, you know, that's what's crazy.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
They would make We got, uh, Mike MacDonough at the
podium now focused.

Speaker 13 (12:47):
On what our new goal was, finishing the year the
right way. And it's a great team win. I mean
it wasn't that wasn't necessarily pretty, but I'll tell you what,
like we we we bought. We fought through some injuries
and some guys that necessarily planning on playing a big role.

Speaker 14 (13:01):
I mean, we can rattle those guys off.

Speaker 13 (13:03):
But guys stepping in and playing good football for us
and ultimately winning the game, Guys like Hardy Burns and
Kenny McIntosh, Mike Jerell at right tackle. I mean, there's
a lot of guys in there that, uh that stepped
up and did a great job for us.

Speaker 14 (13:17):
So it was great for us to h It's great
for us to close the season out the right way.

Speaker 15 (13:36):
What did you think of Gino's game?

Speaker 13 (13:39):
Yeah, I mean talk about one of the guys that
that fought all the way to the very end for
us and putting a drive I mean part of the
course for Gino coming you know, coming another fourth quarter comeback.
I'm not sure what number that is, but great drive
this round together at the end, great great throw to Noah.

Speaker 14 (13:56):
I got it, played a great game.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Wanted to learn Mike, maybe you learned up these guys
this week.

Speaker 13 (14:02):
Yeah, I just we got we got, we got, we
got the right guys and they got the right mentality.
Just just really proud of just the cohesiveness, the connection
that we built and having each other's backs, just kind
of fighting like fighting through when it's not when things
don't go your way and whether well, you know, it's
it's ultimately our responsibility to put ourselves in a better

(14:23):
situation at the end of the season. But coming out
of the weekend, just the resilience and uh, the positivity
was just.

Speaker 14 (14:31):
Was really cool. So proud of our guys.

Speaker 16 (14:33):
Was you know who seriously heard it.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
All at the end or what or do you know? Uh?

Speaker 13 (14:36):
He was bent, he was he's fighting through at the end.

Speaker 14 (14:41):
Uh No, that was it was a hip yep.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
That season.

Speaker 15 (14:47):
But the conditionally he did going out on the land
in that kind of carrier.

Speaker 14 (14:54):
Well, I frankly, I I didn't.

Speaker 13 (14:56):
I didn't feel like how this o n our our
off season and next season was not predicated based off
of how this game finished. But you're of course you
want to you want to finish the season with a
win and finish on a positive note.

Speaker 14 (15:10):
And the process that.

Speaker 13 (15:11):
We put into it, it was was big for us
just understanding who we have and the type of guys
we have and the resilience that we have was.

Speaker 14 (15:18):
Uh was really cool to see.

Speaker 10 (15:20):
Lean sixty r last eight I think, and end up
with ten wins and all that.

Speaker 17 (15:25):
Do those things kind of matter to you?

Speaker 16 (15:26):
It means me a lot of going forwards.

Speaker 13 (15:28):
How you finish the season, Yeah, shows us we can
grow and evolve and make make adjustments throughout the season
that are necessary for us to win. And I mean
you look at some of the splits we had, which
are positive. We can put meeting behind the season kind of,
you know, tomorrow or whenever we have our end of
the year conference or whatever. But our road record is
something that we're proud of. Our division record is something
we're proud of. Obviously, we have to we have to

(15:50):
do a better job at home, but there's a lot
of things to be proud of you coming out of
this game.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
The most important thing you learned this season about.

Speaker 7 (15:58):
What it takes to be.

Speaker 14 (16:01):
Then where do you start? Where do you start?

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Men?

Speaker 14 (16:03):
It's just I think it's the.

Speaker 13 (16:05):
Mentality that you have to have if you're always learning
and you're always growing and uh, you're always evolving. And
that's when we talk about chasing edges, trying to stay
ahead of things rather than being a reactionary. I think
that's really important. And you got to balance that with
being steadfast and what you believe and doubling down in
your principles when times get tough, and and trusting your people.
There's there's so many lessons learned from the from the season,

(16:26):
and we're gonna grow from this.

Speaker 14 (16:28):
I really believe this at the beginning of something.

Speaker 13 (16:30):
Really special, and I'm excited. I mean I kind of
wish we could just kind of I want to want
to go back.

Speaker 14 (16:37):
I want to go back to work.

Speaker 7 (16:38):
Man.

Speaker 13 (16:38):
We need we need to, we need to, you know,
take a deep breath here and think about how we're
going to move forward.

Speaker 14 (16:44):
But I'm excited to get back to work.

Speaker 13 (16:47):
What happened, well, I gotta give Buyern a lot of credit.
I mean, this guy's really really tough and fought through
you know, his back was was hurting him throughout the
week and decided to give it a go. So he's
a he's a he's a tough dude. He's gonna be
easna be fine. Just decided didn't didn't finish the game.

Speaker 14 (17:07):
Uh reek uh x Ray.

Speaker 13 (17:08):
Came back negative to my knowledge on his ribs, I'm
pretty sure he's pretty sore, but he's gonna be fine.

Speaker 14 (17:15):
No long term injuries coming out of it. Trey had.
Trey had a knee. We'll see how long.

Speaker 15 (17:20):
He and Julian Love had, especially considering musing moving parts.

Speaker 14 (17:23):
Of corn just what he kind of talking about.

Speaker 7 (17:27):
Julian.

Speaker 14 (17:28):
Yeah, he's just such a just such.

Speaker 13 (17:30):
A steadfast force for us back there. And then when
you have all the moving parts to your point, John,
of of backups and guys, you know, practice squad guys
coming in and out, calming it down. And it's not
like we're it's not like we're we're gonna adjust on
how we call it and make the necessary adjustments.

Speaker 14 (17:45):
But there's still communication to be had and poised to
be had, and he'd provides that for us.

Speaker 17 (17:52):
Gino had a quart a bit of money on the line,
he dad with his escalators. Did you have to have
a conversation with.

Speaker 14 (17:56):
Him and about not you know, going shoot, he's the one.

Speaker 13 (18:00):
He's like, I just want to go win. That's all
he cared about. He was He was awesome all week.

Speaker 14 (18:05):
He was male. Keep our conversations private, but he uh,
he was great.

Speaker 13 (18:09):
Man.

Speaker 14 (18:09):
What just he was awesome? He was awesome.

Speaker 13 (18:12):
He all his focus all week was just about going
out the right way and getting the tenth win.

Speaker 10 (18:17):
Just the way he finished the season.

Speaker 16 (18:18):
What did he kind of show you?

Speaker 13 (18:21):
Well, I wish you would have held onto the ball
in that one. We got bailed out on the off
side call. But outside of that, I mean, it just
feels like he's a talented runner, you know, so just
he needs to have a great offseason and keep growing.

Speaker 14 (18:32):
But he's showing that he you know, he's a heck
of a football player.

Speaker 13 (18:35):
And uh, I love how he finished his runs and
it seems like he breaks a lot of tackles. You know,
it's a tough guy to bring down, so he's a
talented runner. And round out his game, keep working and
try to take his game to the next level.

Speaker 18 (18:47):
You mentioned before, ye did it again today.

Speaker 14 (18:52):
Yeah, he did it again today.

Speaker 13 (18:53):
So far for the course of jaur specialists all year
been dynamite. So really all three guys have done a
great job.

Speaker 18 (19:00):
And about yeah, I just you know if any if
you you know, he didn't he didn't need a punctuation
exclamation point, but he sure added one today on the
work that he's done.

Speaker 13 (19:12):
And I think our front just those in order for
Leo to come alive, you have.

Speaker 14 (19:18):
To rush is one. We've talked about this the whole season.

Speaker 13 (19:20):
But he's doing it within the lens of playing with
each other and playing off one another. So just the
defensive front of has just done a great job of
playing together, playing off one another, growing together, so that
that's that's the type of football team you want to create.
Guys that you know, connected group that played play for
one another.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
They did some screens sometimes this game.

Speaker 13 (19:43):
Yeah, yeah, they look, you got to credit their game plan.
They did a great job they had They had a
great plan and we had to make some adjustments as
the game went on.

Speaker 14 (19:50):
A lot of those plays. You know, good job by them.
I will always rebuttal that we need to play those.

Speaker 13 (19:56):
Plays better and uh, those that will be something we'll
look at, you know, throughout the off season. But we
could have been better in those moments as well.

Speaker 17 (20:06):
Important win or how.

Speaker 13 (20:09):
Well, like like I said, I mean, our our approach
to the off season and what we feel about our team.

Speaker 14 (20:13):
Wouldn't have changed based off of the win loss.

Speaker 13 (20:16):
But of course it's great to finish with it with
a win, to get the ten wins. I mean, all
those things are really important. But like the tone is
just kind of similar to what I'm talking about right now.
It's here, we're excited about our future and we love
our guys. I mean, it was it was a it
was a special group, man, and we we understand that
it's not going to be the same same groups.

Speaker 14 (20:35):
Just that's the way the NF the nature of the NFL.

Speaker 13 (20:37):
But I think everybody will look back at this team
and be and be proud of our effort and the
things we work through.

Speaker 14 (20:43):
Ultimately, we fell short.

Speaker 13 (20:45):
You know, only one team is gonna come out of
this thing, you know, feeling like they achieved what they
what they could have. So un fortunately ours ended too early.
But I'm excited to get back to work. I think
our guys are excited for our future.

Speaker 17 (21:01):
Anything else, thank you?

Speaker 14 (21:02):
Okay, all right, thanks guys.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
All right, that was your head coach Mike McDonald kind
of putting a bowl in the scene and explaining exactly
what this season meant, where he thinks this team is
going and uh and what needs to be done. And
we're we're sitting here talking about playoff scenarios or whatnot.
And you bring up an interesting point for the Rams.
I know we're focusing on the Seahawks, but if you

(21:25):
were Sean McVay, you might have played your guys this game.

Speaker 9 (21:27):
Well, he knew before the game started.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Actually, you know what, save it, because let's go there,
we're doing.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
Another season.

Speaker 16 (21:40):
Did that the way you guys wanted to?

Speaker 19 (21:44):
It's important, you know, we're trying to build foundation, you know,
to get to ten wins four and tune. Division is
a you know, it is a good thing, and so
you know, we're just we were trying to find that motivation, uh,
you know, to try to go out there and attack,
and it's division game, and so we're just trying to set.

Speaker 14 (21:58):
The tone go into the off season.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
When they got down there that last drive, I think
you made the first down, but I guess.

Speaker 19 (22:07):
My asid is you have, you know, forty five seconds
left in the season, give it your all, like they
have to still get in the end zone.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
And so that was you know, that was what it was. Yeah,
when you.

Speaker 19 (22:18):
Kind of can go all out for that last moment, uh,
it just it tells you who you are as a player.
And so on defense, I knew we had those guys
just to go out and finish it.

Speaker 11 (22:27):
Didn't have already start fourth.

Speaker 19 (22:30):
Thou Yeah, especially you know already Hardy Burdens. He has
been there all season and when he's gotten his chances,
he's made plays.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
He's a vet, he's experienced.

Speaker 19 (22:41):
He kind of knows the game, you know, on a
deep level, and so yeah, it's like when he goes
in there, it's just like clockwork. We trust him, and
so it's good to have depth. Obviously once this offseason,
we got to continue to get depth. But it's good
to see him go out there making plays.

Speaker 14 (22:57):
For you and coming in personal.

Speaker 19 (23:01):
Just making sure I can get on everybody's cadence, making
sure I can communicate, whether it's you know, Nee Mayah,
Trey Brown, Reek already, you know, me and Coke communicate
pretty clearly to each other. Just making sure we're all
just on the same level because everybody receives and gives
information differently, but everybody is pretty tuned in, so we
have we have a good grip.

Speaker 14 (23:21):
To do that.

Speaker 16 (23:22):
What was the weak.

Speaker 19 (23:26):
Basically the league was weird, I mean player wise, like okay,
let's go out there and practice, Uh, get the.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
Plays and just you know, just give it our all.

Speaker 19 (23:35):
Coaches they're trying to find ways to create jews and
energy and you know, create create a flow in the
building because you know, it's tough when you know that
you know you can't get you get what you want
out of the season. And so kudos to you know,
Mike and crew because they found creative ways just try
to get us going. We got several highlight tapes of
the season. Uh, different things were showing and so it

(23:58):
was that that was a vibe. Yeah, just to get
some energy. Just really just have fun this last week.
We know kind of what it is. Let's just have fun.
I mean, he he was the heart of the defenses here.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
He was steady all year.

Speaker 19 (24:20):
Uh and to be you know, as far as his
career as he is, and to play at you know,
this all pro level is just awesome. He puts in
the work, He fights through injuries, he fights through you know,
aches and pains, and uh, he does all the tough things,
make the tough decisions to be out there for us,
and uh. Yeah, to see him just reap the benefit
of the rewards of all his work is uh, it's awesome.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
I hope he.

Speaker 19 (24:44):
Gets all those accolades that are still out there.

Speaker 14 (24:46):
Because I think he deserves them.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
I can't say enough about Leo.

Speaker 14 (24:48):
You guys know that's my guy.

Speaker 7 (24:52):
All right, you guys, safe flights back.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
All right.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
That was Julian Love Hawks fans, Celerate Blue Friend at
your local Western Washington McDonald's getting free medium fries with
any one dollar purchase every Blue Friday and only in
the McDonald's at for e We're gonna bring the guys
in and get more plays at the podium. That is
next here on the up quad Bank Radio network. Seahawks
win on the road thirty to twenty five. GINO hits
some incentives, JSN ties a record, and we got lots

(25:20):
more to talk about. Let's pause ten seconds to give
our network stations a chance to identify themselves.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Here in the umpquad Bank Radio network.

Speaker 15 (25:27):
KIRO seven ten AM, Seattle, k i r FM, HD
one and HD two, Tacoma, Seattle, the home of the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
It was a win on the road. The Hawks improved
to seven and one on the road. They also won
six straight games on the road. That is a franchise record.
It's tough to win games in NFL, even harder on
the road. Big Ray, when you if you were Olu
or Lakin or any of these offensive lignment going into

(25:57):
this game, well, what's your mentality?

Speaker 10 (26:00):
Well, like I said earlier, man, it's like you get
paid to do a job and you want to finish,
and then you don't want to be embarrassed either. Like
I mean, if you kind of just went out and
rode your helmet out there as an offensive lineman, it
can get really ugly for you because there's some those
dudes on the other side are trying to get to
the ball, trying to sack the quarterback. Maybe they have incentives,
you know, maybe they this is their first time getting
to play all year, and the family's watching and all

(26:22):
this other kind of stuff. So you can really set
yourself up for looking like, really really bad as an
offensive lineman if you're not going out there trying to
finish the game and play hard. And you know, that
starting line played the whole game, So I think there
was something to be said too about kind of creating
a foundation for that group and having them have some success.
They rushed for over one hundred yards and did a
pretty good job most of most of the day in

(26:44):
the run game. So in the trenches, it's really hard
to take a day off because it's like it's like saying, hey,
let's go box every day and this day, I'm just
gonna put my guard down. You can punch me in
the face, like that's not going to happen. So at
some point, your manhood, your mind, wisdom of what if
you want to call it, you know, it takes over
and you're just not gonna allow that to happen. So

(27:04):
you got to go out there and play the game.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Gino had four touchdowns to four different receivers, completed seventy
four percent of his passes. Like we mentioned, hit some incentives.
What you see in that pass game be well, we
got a no Offen who had a day. DK scores
a touchdown AJ as well, and Jake Bubble gets a
rezone touchdown.

Speaker 11 (27:20):
What I saw is the team not dependent on the
pass game, and that's what we've kind of talked about
all years. You saw a lot more play action today,
a lot more Geno under center, a few play action plays,
and Gino looks comfortable there. He was able to step
up and make some good passes. I thought the offensive
line played well. I mean the improvement. You know, the
Rams brought their starters on defense and they allowed seven

(27:41):
sacks the very first game they played the Rams. This game,
only two sacks on Gino, and so that's huge improvement.
Being able to see Geno just sit back there in
the pocket a little more than usual. You can see
what he can bring, how efficient he can be, and
how and he doesn't make those the same kind of
mistakes that have been haunting him he's been. I mean,
the Seahawks are seven and one on the road, and
Gino has thrown two of his fifteen interceptions on the road.

(28:04):
He has been an incredible road quarterback. And he continued
today with four inners or furn four touchdowns today and
you just love to see what and he got the
tight ends involved. Good to see Aj Barner again in
the end zone. Noah Fan got in the end zone
and that's just another weapon that he utilized today.

Speaker 9 (28:22):
Yeah, I think it's remarkable. I mean, our only loss
was second road game at Detroit, and you know, we
all know what they're all about. Seven and one on
the road, it usually means you're a good team. You know,
it's hard to win on the road. There's a lot
of teams that you know, finish seven and one, six
and two at home and then you know five hundred
or less on the road. It's hard there. And there's

(28:44):
there's a bunch of studies that showed teams that make
it to the Super Bowl always have winning records on
the road, you know, So it just shows that you
can run the ball, you play usually good defense, all
those things. Look, I think what I'm most excited We're
going to do a lot with the players this year.
I think for the most part, most of the defense
comes back. We got to keep getting better, you know,
we gotta put more competition at corner. We need more

(29:07):
depth at linebacker. You always want to keep working for
ed dressers. But you know, let's go to someone and
hear from them instead.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
All right, let's go to the podium here from QB
one gen know Smith, Good afternoon, everybody.

Speaker 15 (29:21):
Yes, and you get to finish the year you want to.

Speaker 12 (29:23):
But how hard it was for you as as a
team to go out get away?

Speaker 7 (29:27):
Yeah, I think winning was always gonna be the most
important thing. You know, anytime, shoot man, anytime you don't
have a chance to really control your destiny, it's always
gonna suck. But you know, for us as a team,
we want to close out on the on the right
note and finish the right way. And uh, you know,
I'm a guy with a lot of integrity.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Man.

Speaker 7 (29:44):
I love this game. I love my teammates, I love
the organization, and I just feel like that's what leaders do.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Man.

Speaker 7 (29:49):
You gotta go out there and you gotta give it
your all, no matter the circumstance, no matter what the
record says, no matter the situation. So you know, for me,
it was another opportunity to go out there with my
teammates and grind up win. What do you do? Yeah,
I feel like, you know, that's a tough question, man. Uh.
Proud of the guys, you know, proud of everybody, uh,

(30:11):
the way they fought, you know, part of our coaching staff,
proud of our you know, our front office, just everybody
in the building. But uh, also feeling disappointed for everyone.
You know, don't get to go to practice and get
back to it, you know, those are things that I
look forward to, man, and I can't, you know, go
to practice with my guys on Monday. Got to wait
a long time to get back to work. And uh,
I know a lot of guys sacrifice this year, a

(30:33):
lot of guys putting a lot a lot of work
and really deserve more football, but uh that's not the case,
you know. So you know, just feeling for the guys, man,
you know, wishing we could continue to do this thing together.
I love every one of my teammates, man, I love
every part of this organization, and uh, yeah it sucks.
It sucks.

Speaker 8 (30:52):
Set it high for touchdown passes and another four quarter
high US type come back.

Speaker 16 (30:59):
So does that mean.

Speaker 7 (31:03):
Yeah, I mean winning games. That's the most important thing.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
You know.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
We got ten wins this season, you know, should have
been more. And uh, I believe we got the right
right guys in this locker room. You know, personal stats
aren't a big deal for me. I'm not out here
chasing accolades. I wanna win, and I wanna win for
the guys in that locker room. I wanna win for
our coaching staff. I wanna win for our front office.
You know, all the people that were our kitchen staff
are strength staff. All the people that work so hard,

(31:27):
man like, they deserve, you know, to to have the
best of the best. And so you know, for me personally,
I expect to do well. But again, it's a team game,
and you know, I just wanna wanna be there for
my teammates. What encourages you, uh I I you know,
I just believe we have a bright future. Man. I believe,
uh we're getting better.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
You know.

Speaker 7 (31:47):
It's coach McDonald's first year, and just all the things
that he's battled through, the way that he's led us.
I told him that, man like, this is the way
that he's led us throughout the season, and you know,
all the ups and downs of the season, you know,
not starting out the way that we wanted to, but
you know, we grouping at the bar and then coming
out and having that fire, and I thought the intensity
you know, in our practices and the way that we met,

(32:07):
the way that we talked ball showed up on the field,
and uh it gave us a chance at the end,
and that's all that matters. But anything else, man, I'm
just I'm just focused on winning. I look forward to
the future. I look forward to, you know, getting back
to getting my body right and getting strong and getting faster,
coming back a better player.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
How do you how can I could ask you concur
how you feel at the end of this season of the.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Direction of the team.

Speaker 7 (32:31):
Uh I I felt great about you know, the direction
of the team last year. Obviously there were some changes
made made and you know we got a different group
this year, but that's the NFL. Every year is gonna
be changed over and you you can expect that, but
you can embrace that as well. And so I feel
great about it. Like I said, man, we fought, We fought,
you know it, And like I said, it didn't start
out great, but we found a way to put ourselves

(32:53):
in a position to get to the playoffs and play
some more football. And yeah, I feel great about the guys.
It sucks today because, like I said, man, the season's end.
It's like the last day of school and you know,
all your friends are going away, but uh, you know
look forward to getting back to it.

Speaker 10 (33:08):
Do you feel like the the off baby just needs
some coduty and consistency.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
When you have a lot of young guys.

Speaker 7 (33:15):
Yeah, I mean you're right. Uh there's a lot of
young guys on the offensive line. There's a lot of
young guys on this team. And uh, this team is
I'm telling you, man, this team is is is heading
in the in the right direction. Man, this team is
on its way. And that's with or without me. These
guys in this locker room, these coaches, this organization, out
standing organization, and I believe in it. I believe the

(33:35):
best of the best is gonna happen for this team.
And uh, you know, I just wanna continue to fight
with these guys this year. You know, Uh just from
the yar it's it seems like forever ago. We had
that first conversation and and we talked on the phone,
and this is before I got to meet him. In person,
and uh, everything that he he said he was about,

(33:56):
that's exactly what he was about. He's a man of
his word, He's a man of character. He understands how
to lead, He understands how to push the right buttons
and get guys going. He treats guys like, you know,
like men, expecting guys to uphold the standard. And uh,
just the way that he goes about his work. He's
a diligent worker, extremely smart, extremely smart guy. And uh,

(34:19):
you know, just to be so young and to have
like the wisdom that he has, and like I said, man,
just the way that he carried himself the entire season.
Things weren't always great. I made a lot of stupid
mistakes and he had my back the entire time. And
I think, you know, when you when you look at
a coach like that, man, I think the players are
gonna rally around him, The organization's gonna rally around him,
and uh, you know, I believe everybody's gonna, you know,

(34:41):
follow his lead.

Speaker 16 (34:43):
Well, so how you get checked out on the sidelin?

Speaker 7 (34:46):
Yeah, I'll be all right. That was a really unique
situation for you, and you have knowledge to speak during
the game. Were you aware any of.

Speaker 16 (34:54):
That or how did you comport that life?

Speaker 7 (34:56):
Yeah, I was just trying to win. You know, I'll
tell you I hate throwing in completions anyway, so you
know those type of things aren't Like I'm not worried
about that. I try to complete every pass that I throw,
and uh, you know, usually during the games, I'm like,
you know, if I'm ik if I have one, I'm like,
I got hit five in a row. That's just how
I play. You know, I wanna hit ten in a row.
I went to you know, twenty completions in the row,
and Uh, I wasn't thinking about anything other than winning,

(35:17):
you know. Uh it was it was great to get
that uh that last drive for us to go out
there and score Noah get his first touchdown. That's how
It's crazy. That's my first touchdown the season, but for
that to be, you know, the the game winner, biggest
touchdown of the year. So, UH just wanted to go
out there and win. And uh, you know, I'm appreciative
of the guys for the way they battled in this game.
Obviously had nothing to play for, but still had everything

(35:38):
to play for.

Speaker 16 (35:39):
It without me, Uh do you thought conversations anyone.

Speaker 7 (35:45):
Uh, I mean, I got a bright future. I think
y'all can see that. So yeah, I and I believe
we have a b a bright future together. Yeah so
that I obviously I'm just saying that, but yeah, we
we all have a bright future together. Yeah, you'll.

Speaker 17 (36:00):
Negotiate on what's gonna be important to you in that respect.

Speaker 7 (36:04):
Those are things that I'll talk to the people that
I need to talk to about. I appreciate the question,
but you know, I like to keep a lot of
things internal in the house, and you know, with respects
to everybody involved, I think it's the best way to
do it. You know.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Uh, Catcher shit was working all the tight ends.

Speaker 7 (36:19):
Yeah, I thought, uh, you know, just our boot game,
our play action game really came alive, especially early on,
and I thought, no, it just played a spectacular game.

Speaker 8 (36:26):
Man.

Speaker 7 (36:26):
He made some tough catches, especially that one at the end.
I thought, Aj was you know, being his normal self
going out there and just you know, being a a
big dude with the ball in his hands, hard to tackle.
And you know, those guys are a big part of
our offense, and we can when we can get them going,
you can see how our offense can be you know
that much more dynamics first TV this too, I think,

(36:47):
oh yeah, Bobo, yeah.

Speaker 16 (36:48):
Yeah, just uh, I guess.

Speaker 7 (36:54):
One on one, throw it to Bobo.

Speaker 17 (36:55):
Man.

Speaker 7 (36:55):
He uh he made a He made a great catch,
you know, run a great route. I thought the scheme
was great. You know, we had a kind of an
RPO on there, and if we got one on one
to to Bobo, we throw it up and uh he
made the play. I think Grub is an excellent, excellent coordinator,
you know, even even even better man. And uh our
first year, obviously there were some ups and downs. There
are some things that we can improve on, and we'll

(37:17):
we'll work hard to to get those things fixed. But
uh I I believe in this system, you know, I
believe this is a really good system and it's gonna
be really good for a long time. I think Grub
has exactly what it takes to be a great coordinator
in this league. And you know, it's his first year. Man,
got give the guy some grace. You know, he's figuring
things out too. And uh, I thought he did an
outstanding job leading the group. I love the passion that
he brings to the game, and uh he made me

(37:38):
a better quarterback.

Speaker 20 (37:39):
He talked to us Thursday about UH something he had
grown in the aspect of UH attacking schemes and structures.

Speaker 16 (37:45):
I don't hope you not about that too. Have you seen.

Speaker 7 (37:50):
For sure? I can think you can. You can think
of a bunch of plays today where we you know,
had the advantage based on scheme and these they there
were things that Grub did today that UH allowed me
to go out there and play UH a sound and
clean game. And so like like you said, man, he's
only gonna continue to get better. And you know, as
he gets to dive into the off season and really
look at the ways that he can get better and
that this offense can can get better. You know, I

(38:11):
think he's gonna have an even even better second year.

Speaker 21 (38:14):
You mentioned somebody else, Da sa Hi his type of
man kind of out there.

Speaker 16 (38:16):
How did you see that?

Speaker 7 (38:17):
I mean, you kind of man even killed, even killed
exactly what you want from a coordinator, you know, being
a thermometer in the room, knowing when to get the
guys going, and knowing when to calm him down, and
and those are the things that you look for and
a great coordinator, and I think he did that with ease.

Speaker 17 (38:31):
Sorry if you were asked about this why already?

Speaker 5 (38:32):
But the touchdown the KA Where do you feel like
that ranks along your highlights of this season?

Speaker 7 (38:37):
Uh? I don't know, honestly, that's a good question. But
you know it's good to get DK in the end
zone and uh you talking about the spin move and
all that. That's uh M's part work in the pocket, Uh,
trying to find a way and you know I thought
it was. Uh it was a good play.

Speaker 6 (38:49):
Yeah else yes, whatever his future?

Speaker 7 (38:53):
Talking about what do you mean the franchise to the offers, Man,
I can go on all day. We be here all day.
Uh talking about Tyler Lockett means so much to me,
you know, just to see an NFL player of his caliber,
to have the humble demeanor that he has and the
selflessness that he has, and just the way that you know,

(39:17):
thousand yard receiver cons consistently, the consistency that he's shown,
and the leadership that he's given the DK and Jackson
and all those guys in that room. Man, it you know,
it doesn't go unnoticed. And uh, you know, like I said,
he's one of my best friends. Man, He's a guy
that I played against in college. So I know exactly
what he could do all along and just being around him,
his family, his wife soon to be a dad. Uh

(39:40):
you know, he's a special guy, man, special person and
a special player.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
I think it was.

Speaker 17 (39:46):
Talking to Sherman to each other.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
One of the best quarterbacks.

Speaker 7 (39:54):
Uh yeah, I am yes, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
That was Gino Smith had himself a good day, finishes
the season with over seventy percent completion rate. Our Quarterback
V was brought to you by a t mob exclusive.
While this partner of the V Seattle Seahawks. When we
come back, we're gonna break down this year, talk about
dk JSN, Tyler Lockett, everybody involved.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
That's next on the up quad Bank right on network.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
This is the Seahawks post game Shaw Michael Bumpus with
the fellas Brave Roberts, Brian Walters, and Paul Moya.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
We're gonna go to the podium here from Tyler Locke.

Speaker 21 (40:31):
Now I feel so important.

Speaker 7 (40:36):
All right.

Speaker 22 (40:37):
First off, I just want to start off by saying,
I think our equipment staff and our athletic training staff
should definitely get a raise.

Speaker 21 (40:45):
I think that they did a tremendous job.

Speaker 22 (40:47):
I think if you see the things that they do
day in and day out. Our equipment staff literally has
to stay overnight just to be able to put our
stuff back where supposed to be, to get us ready
to be able to practice and stuff again. Literally they
barely even sleep. We come back on Monday, we got
seven eight hours in still pulling the all night or
just to help us the athletic training staff. And I

(41:09):
couldn't tell you one time one of the training athletic
trainers went back with me af right after the game
so we can get some treatment going to get ready
for the next game. So, I mean it just speaks
volumes the people that we have in this building and
been blessed to be able to know them, some of
'em for ten years, some of 'em for six, some
of 'em for one, but definitely gotta get 'em a

(41:29):
shout out. Ooh my bad, I miss somebody's stuff up.
Oh I'm still recording.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
What was it like.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Day or you know?

Speaker 21 (41:45):
Ah?

Speaker 22 (41:45):
I mean I think it was a I think it
was a good game. I mean I felt like this
last year. So obviously you never know when it's gonna
be the end, you know, because I kind of plan
on playing again. I know it's not the very very end.
It'd be different if I was retire, but yeah, I
mean I think it's, you know, always gonna be somewhat sensitive,
just because that could have been the last time you

(42:07):
put on a jersey. So I'm glad I ended with
a catch, you know, just in case. Glad we ended
up with a win. And you know, one of the
cool things was, like in the beginning of my career,
it started off first of Rams and maybe the last
game of my Seas career, possibly it ended VERSU the Rams,
and we was able to win that game. But I mean,

(42:27):
just truly incredible. I'm just glad we was able to win.
Glad we was able to fight back, regardless if they
had their players playing or not. And yeah, I mean
I went out there and you know, I just played,
And yeah, you might have some emotions and different thoughts
that go through your head, but you got to get
all that stuff out or learn how to play through
it when you're out there in the game.

Speaker 16 (42:47):
I saw you after.

Speaker 21 (42:53):
Yeah, I always did that.

Speaker 22 (42:54):
And then when we got Mike as our head coach,
I didn't know what I could and couldn't do. You know,
I used to do it a lot when people as
a coach, and so I kind of had to figure
out his schedule and how we did certain things, and
so I kind of picked back to doing it, I
think after five week and then I hit it twice today,
but it was because one of the games, I think

(43:14):
when I got the Steve Largin Award, I didn't hit it,
and so you know, I'm like, I gotta make sure
I hit it twice.

Speaker 21 (43:19):
And so yeah, pretty good, pretty good at throwing the ball.

Speaker 7 (43:26):
They said they want you back.

Speaker 15 (43:29):
Did you come back?

Speaker 22 (43:30):
Regardless of h that's an agent that's an agent question.

Speaker 15 (43:35):
You know.

Speaker 22 (43:36):
I think it's gonna be a lot of conversations and
I don't really know what's gonna be said or what's
gonna you know, like it's easy to say that we
want you back, but I mean you still gotta be
able to have those conversations and figure out like what's
gonna work, what's not gonna work, Like what's the role
gonna be, like all that different type of stuff.

Speaker 21 (43:53):
All I can really do is enjoy the fact that
I'm about to have a girl.

Speaker 22 (43:57):
And you know, learn how to take care of her
and two thogs, and from there, I just let my
agent kind of talk to them and kind of see
what it is that they want to do and how
they want to go about using me and how they
want how they.

Speaker 21 (44:09):
See me fitting with the team.

Speaker 22 (44:11):
But you know, regardless, man, ten years with the same team,
I think the only people that's done it since I've
been able to play on this team was kJ, Bobby
and Russ And so I mean, I think it just well,
it makes it like it's easy to play for ten
years with the same team when I played with three
of them, but it's very difficult to do just being
able to play in the NFL. And so for me,

(44:33):
I don't take it lightly. I think I've had so
many great relationships with not just the players, but everybody
that's been inside of the building, from people on the
second floor to people on the third floor, to our
nutritionists to the strength and conditioning coaches. They need to
get a raised too, by the way, both of them.

Speaker 21 (44:52):
But yeah, I just.

Speaker 22 (44:52):
Think overall, man, like, that's what makes coming into the
building fun. When you have relationships with people outside of football,
it makes you excited to get up to be able
to go and try to achieve this journey that we're
all on to try to get to the playoffs to
win the Super Bowl, or just create a team that
wants to be able to play for their coaches, that
wants to be able to play for.

Speaker 21 (45:13):
The community in the city.

Speaker 22 (45:14):
And so I appreciate the city too, man, I think
the city is amazing. I'll always view Seattle as a
college town. And yeah, maybe this isn't the end. Maybe
it is the end, but you know, I always will
be a Seahawk through and through.

Speaker 21 (45:32):
We can call John and Joey up here right now.

Speaker 22 (45:35):
I think that'd be easy for everybody, right, Like, I mean,
I don't know. I mean, I'm sure they kind of
have their time frame, people that they want to extend,
people that they want to talk to, and I'm sure
that it's a lot of stuff they got to figure out.
So you know, I'm gonna be patient kind of like
talk to my agents, see what he thinks and stuff
like that, and we'll just kind of go from there.

(45:57):
But you know, I'll probably have a lot more to
say tomorrow when we ectuit meetings. But I mean, I
just appreciate everybody, I really do. I don't really cry
like that miss Season ten wins only coach and Seayaf's
history to do it. I mean, you know, I think
that says a lot. It's hard to get ten wins

(46:20):
just in the NFL in general. The fact that we
was able to get it on his first year, I
think that's incredible. Yes, we missed the playoffs. The projections
were what five wins in the season. I definitely would
have made a lot of money had I put in
on a parlay, had I not played football this year,
because I believe that we would have win won way

(46:41):
more than five games. But I mean, it just says
the type of culture that he's trying to bring. It
says a lot about the people who believe in him,
the coaches that he selected to be able to make
this thing work. And you know, we just got to
make sure, man, that we don't lose to these NFC teams,
because those are the things that hurt you when it
gets to all right, does the strength of schedule fit?

Speaker 21 (47:02):
What does the division look like? What does the conference
wins look like?

Speaker 22 (47:05):
When it comes to the records, because that's the thing
that hurts us because I think we tied with what
maybe somebody else, I don't know. We tied with the Rams,
but they beat us. When you go all the way
to like the fifth or the sixth thing, and so
we can't just shoot ourselves in the foot.

Speaker 21 (47:18):
We gotta be able to go out there and win games.

Speaker 22 (47:21):
And we won this game and it was close, but
we got to be able to make sure we're winning
more games when it's close.

Speaker 17 (47:29):
That you want to go.

Speaker 10 (47:31):
Up there your record.

Speaker 17 (47:32):
You guys tired and.

Speaker 5 (47:34):
Right next to each other.

Speaker 22 (47:35):
Yeah, I think, I mean, shout out to Jash for
wanted me to still be right there beside them. So yeah,
I think I just found out that we tied when
I was walking out to do another interview. But I mean,
I think that's dope. Man, Like, at least I'll be
able to share it with somebody. Sometimes it's lonely up
there at the top, and so being able to have
somebody that you know was able to come be a

(47:56):
part of the team and took off in year two,
It'll always be cool at this moment just to be
able to talk about how great of a player JSN is.
How I think he's going to continue to thrive and
continue to do a lot of great things as long
as he continues to get the same opportunities that he's
getting and it's kind of cool to share that in
a record book with him, for sure. Hey, man, I

(48:20):
think Gino left it all out there on the field.
I mean, obviously, you know, people saw him limping and
stuff out there, but I mean, I think he was
just incredible with just being able to lead us back
to victory and just being able to seal the win.
Hopefully he was able to reach his incentives and stuff
like that. We were definitely shouting out Lil because Lil
hit his incentive.

Speaker 21 (48:38):
But yeah, man, even.

Speaker 22 (48:40):
Besides all of that, man, it's just the fact that
everybody on this team wanted to play for each other.
They wanted to go out there, and they wanted to win.
And it makes football so much easier when you know
the next man cares just as much as you care.
It's hard to be able to get that because in
the league you get paid so much money, and so
many people could have tapped out and say, you know what,
I'm ready for free aid agency or I'm ready for

(49:01):
the offseason so I could get away from all of
this stuff. And the biggest thing that you always hope
is to have a team that could be able to
buy in, not just when camp starts because everybody's.

Speaker 21 (49:10):
Ready to prove themselves.

Speaker 7 (49:11):
Right.

Speaker 22 (49:11):
But when you get to this part of the season,
when it's November, December, but geting of January, you'll be
surprised with how many people usually like are no longer
bought in.

Speaker 21 (49:22):
And this team was bought in from.

Speaker 22 (49:24):
The very jump, even when we were on that losing
game streak and fans were going crazy, people were going crazy,
it didn't matter. People still bought in. And I think
it showed like who we were as a team and
who were going to continue to be.

Speaker 21 (49:39):
All right, appreciate yiad Man, I give God all the glory.

Speaker 7 (49:42):
Happy New Year.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
All right?

Speaker 4 (49:44):
That was Tyler Lockett throwing it out there like I
don't know if this is my last game in Seattle.
He realizes that there's a big cap hit. If he
comes back, things might change. Decisions have to be made.
What'd you make of Lockett at the podium where, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (49:59):
Look he's he's just a consummate pro. He's a business guy.
He understands it. They got business decisions to make. I
hope he comes back. I just don't know what to
look like. None of us do. But as you mentioned,
and we all have access to it, it's a big
cap hit. I think this year he was probably being
paid about three million for every hundred yards. You know,

(50:21):
that's you know, from a value standpoint that you can't
go in. You can't make that kind of a cap
hit with that kind of production. But my god, he
you know, I think ray or Be well, you guys said,
you know player coach. You know he's just let him
go and still be a part of it. I mean,
like if he's our fourth wide receiver, you'd be pretty
happy with that. I don't know what that number is,

(50:43):
you know, I don't know if it's one million or
six million. It's probably somewhere in between there. So look,
it's he's not gone. He's still going to be around.
He's going to be a part of this community forever.
He's not going away. Father time. We all know it
wins at all times. It's hard because we've seen Doug Baldwin, Lee,
We've seen Russ Leeve, seen Bobby Wagner. I mean, it

(51:03):
just happens, you know, and then here's Tyler and it's
it happens quick too, I mean DK and then obviously
js N. Look, I just think he is such a
fan favorite. It doesn't matter. I think people are prepared.

Speaker 5 (51:13):
We know.

Speaker 9 (51:14):
I hope they find a way to get him back,
and that'd be really cool because I just can't see
him in another uniform and he wants to play, So
let's go see is that possible. I don't know.

Speaker 10 (51:24):
Yeah, I will say he got a year's worth of
words in yeah and his uh and there's one post
post postgame comments there and he mentioned just about everybody
in the organization, all the way down to the yard crew,
the sports medicine staff, like all of it and uh,
and so he just I don't know if he mentioned

(51:46):
the broadcast team.

Speaker 9 (51:47):
He got cut off. You know, we all need to
get it.

Speaker 10 (51:51):
But the thing I love about Tyler is that in
his own way, he just always shoots it straight like
he might not. It may not be brutal and how
he does it, but it's also not like, you know,
always a soft land in either. He just kind of
calls it like like he sees it. And I think
in the locker room that goes a long ways, and
so he's not one of the dudes it's kind to

(52:11):
get up and say something all the time just to
say something, but he says something when he feels like
it needs to be said, and people tend to listen
to that because he's just not a you know, all day,
every day in the locker room talker type of a dude.
And so there's a lot of respect for that, and
thens just the way he's going about his you know,
building his career and the way he's played here and

(52:31):
come up in big moments and made big catches, you know,
like we're I think we're talking like this year, like
maybe the one signature title locket type catch was that
first down catch against Denver in the first game, the
one hand catch across the middle of the field. So
I didn't see many of those this year, but to me,
like I said, player coach, just because he just seems

(52:52):
like he would be good at that, Like he could
handle that, Like he would have the maturity to handle that.
So maybe he's the fourth or fifth receiver receiver of
something to get in there if you have to. But
during the week he's also helping coach and breaking out
film and breaking out players and running routes and all
the other kinds of things. So he just seems like
he would be a cool dude that way. I don't
know if that's something he would want to do, but

(53:12):
he seems like he has the temperament to be able
to handle something like that.

Speaker 12 (53:15):
Player, coach and real estate agent.

Speaker 21 (53:17):
It's a lot.

Speaker 11 (53:18):
That's a lot, a lot going on in Tyler Lockett's world,
you know. But whether he is this is his last
game he ever played with Seattle, or he signs he
gets he plays for four or five more years, they
figure that out.

Speaker 12 (53:28):
He's one of the top.

Speaker 11 (53:30):
Two most polished wide receivers for the Seattle franchise and
and you know, memories of all his toe toe tap
catches and all that the best to ever do that
just an ultimate pro And I mean just to get
up there and thank the equipment staff. I think we
can all understand, and the sports medicine, you know, the
hours that those guys put in behind the scenes. And

(53:50):
it's pretty cool to have a player just go and
realize that and kind of speak out publicly because you
don't you don't get that, you kind of take that
for grant.

Speaker 2 (53:55):
A little bit. Sometimes Yep, big up out of Locke.
We'll see what uh this future looks like.

Speaker 5 (54:23):
You know it takes a shotgun snap, looks far side,
throws backshoulder throw follows cot Bobo touchdown Seahawks. Jake Bobo
cost his team five a little while ago. Now he
puts six on the board.

Speaker 6 (54:38):
For the Seahawks.

Speaker 5 (54:39):
A four yard touchdown catch and the Seahawks on the
board first six nothing.

Speaker 4 (54:45):
Jake Bobo scores his first touchdown of the year.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
Jim Mieller cod wiham Man.

Speaker 3 (54:51):
It was a long time coming. But does it make
the touchdown any less sweet?

Speaker 23 (54:55):
More sweets better than it comes in the final game
of the season.

Speaker 8 (54:59):
Yeah, question, I don't know if it's sweet regardless. Yeah,
you know, so I was just happy, you know, contribute
to a win. Obviously would have liked to contribute a
little bit sooner in the year, but that is what
it is. And you know, I'm just just happy to
get Mike to ten minutes, to.

Speaker 7 (55:14):
Be honest with you.

Speaker 3 (55:15):
So you scored the touchdown, you hand the ball to
Michael Jarrell. Is that what I saw? Why?

Speaker 19 (55:22):
Mike?

Speaker 8 (55:22):
Uh, you know we're in the same area locker room.
You know, we've got closer throughout the year, and obviously
he made the start today and he's been great for
us all year. So I saw him and figured, uh,
you know what can make a big guy happier than Yeah,
I was just happy to.

Speaker 17 (55:37):
Have a home for sure.

Speaker 23 (55:38):
Tell him I said that he might have deflated that
ball with how hard he Yeah, that was That was.

Speaker 3 (55:43):
What it really was.

Speaker 23 (55:45):
So it was Jackson's season, and to watch Jackson and
Lock it together, what did you see.

Speaker 17 (55:50):
In their relationships?

Speaker 11 (55:51):
So cool?

Speaker 17 (55:53):
You know, just didn't have those guys you throw a
DK in the mix. Those three are so funny around and.

Speaker 8 (55:58):
It's it's an awesome a combination of you know, locks,
metal Jacks at the same time, they're they're bull of
you know, they're all new things from each other.

Speaker 17 (56:07):
So for all to be around all year, for sure,
what did.

Speaker 23 (56:10):
You feel on the sidelines because I was watching you
guys celebrate, Whether it was DK's touchdown because she knew
what that meant, or Leo sack because you guys knew
what that meant.

Speaker 3 (56:18):
What was the general feeling?

Speaker 17 (56:20):
It was cool? I mean just because you know, obviously.

Speaker 8 (56:23):
We be and we were going to go in further
after this game, right, So I think a lot of
this game was I mean, it's the purest forming football.

Speaker 17 (56:29):
We're just out there quite for each other at this point,
and that was really fun. This game had a little
bit of a different field than some of the other
games because we were we were true just ruded for
each other. And then in their sea room, you know,
that's what d K getting.

Speaker 8 (56:43):
Yeah, it stinks because he didn't get to it to
Bok was eight shy or something like that, and see
him for one end at.

Speaker 7 (56:49):
The end of the year.

Speaker 17 (56:50):
It was awesome to see what Jackson did.

Speaker 5 (56:52):
You a long day.

Speaker 17 (56:53):
It was really cool to be a follow fresher.

Speaker 23 (56:55):
How long do you get a chance to enjoy this
when how long do you enjoy an off season before
you get back to.

Speaker 17 (57:00):
Low To be honest, I'm giving myself. I'm saying like
a week and a half.

Speaker 8 (57:07):
That usually means we'll get up to like six or
seven days and stuff to U.

Speaker 17 (57:15):
Yeah, this was a sweet we'll enjoy it. Obviously got
step to tomorrow and you know who wrong. But there's
always work to do, and I'm sure anybody else on this.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
Team tell you it does feel the way though. To
end on a high note as we get.

Speaker 16 (57:28):
That back to your bump.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
Thanks Jan. That was Jake.

Speaker 4 (57:31):
Bubble scores his first touchdown of the year. Last year,
he started off fairly quickly, scoring two before j SN
got his one. The value he brings to this team,
I think red zone and special teams like that's how
receivers gotta gotta make the squad. If you're not the
one of the two of the three, you got to
make your your money on special teams.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
What you think of Bubble this year.

Speaker 12 (57:50):
Be yeah, I mean, and you saw him. He's in there.

Speaker 11 (57:52):
He's a he's a four core special teams guy. He's
on every single one. He's blocking. You see him in
there a lot on the run plays. He's he's in
there digging out safety. He's doing the dirty work. So
you know, Bobo's a guy that's kind of going to
be his role right now. You have players ahead of
him that are gonna get the majority of the passes.
But what you do is he gets an opportunity to

(58:13):
score touchdown, which I don't think he has had this year.
I don't know if he has had a target in
the end zone this entire year. But there's your first one.
He caught it, made the most of it, and now
he has, you know, a good taste in his mouth
going into the off season because he got himself, you know,
a touchdown.

Speaker 12 (58:27):
So he's just he's a.

Speaker 11 (58:30):
Guy that you're gonna be able to plug in everywhere.
And that's what you like about him too. He probably
knows every single position, every three wide receiver, all three
wide receiver positions. He's got to know him because he's
that fourth guy, and he's got to be able to
back him up whenever he is or whenever he gets
the chance.

Speaker 12 (58:45):
It's his job.

Speaker 11 (58:47):
Is a tough job, I will say, because it's pretty
much what I was too, is you just have to
be ready at all times. You may play three snaps,
you may play forty snaps, but you just don't know,
and it's just you're just kind of waiting on the sideline,
am I going in? You're watching his DK need a
break because he waving you in. Okay, I guess I'm
going in. So he has one of the tougher jobs
as a wide receiver and he's really done it well
this year.

Speaker 10 (59:06):
Yeah, I think it's pretty awesome too, Like, uh, just
listening to how he talks about Tyler Lockett, and you know,
I think earlier this week, Tyler said that his greatest
contribution to the team was that he, uh, he sacrificed,
so he you know, he gave up a lot of
you know, what he may have wanted to do and
things like that for the betterment of the team. He

(59:27):
did everything that he asked and so you can see
maybe a little bit of that rubbing off on Bobo
because he had to do special teams and lock and
all this other kind of stuff. So maybe maybe that is,
you know, Tyler's the greatest contribution to Bobo.

Speaker 2 (59:42):
Let's go back to the locker room, Jim Calla with
already burns.

Speaker 23 (59:46):
Already, there were lots of a lot of big plays
on that final drive by the Rams.

Speaker 3 (59:51):
How close for you to getting that interception?

Speaker 9 (59:54):
First of all, post at.

Speaker 10 (59:57):
A big calls, A man made a play.

Speaker 23 (01:00:00):
Okay, so first play after the two minute warning, what
happened I don't know who was supposed to be in coverage,
but that was a big play down field.

Speaker 16 (01:00:07):
What happened?

Speaker 24 (01:00:08):
Oh it is a good a good skame.

Speaker 17 (01:00:11):
It works. My man covers.

Speaker 9 (01:00:13):
You gotta think I'm going to go.

Speaker 23 (01:00:16):
You came back and set it down to Okay, so
it's four than three.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Game is on the line.

Speaker 21 (01:00:22):
You're in coverage.

Speaker 23 (01:00:23):
First of all, how much do you enjoy that moment
and that pressure?

Speaker 17 (01:00:27):
We call that that moment to death?

Speaker 6 (01:00:28):
All well, here you what.

Speaker 9 (01:00:30):
They did talk about the woman all the time.

Speaker 23 (01:00:32):
You have to vent on that moment a fall and
for your personally because you were the man in coverage.

Speaker 17 (01:00:39):
How did you read that play?

Speaker 12 (01:00:41):
I know he was selling me a lot.

Speaker 17 (01:00:43):
He wasn't going to the way you know what pulls me.
I knew playing back game thought said oday, I want
a big play.

Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
How good does it feel to contribute? I know you've
had some injuries.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
To this year.

Speaker 23 (01:00:52):
I know you've battled back, but to contribute in a
big way today, I'm feeling good.

Speaker 6 (01:00:56):
You know you want your hand.

Speaker 17 (01:01:00):
The involved That means.

Speaker 23 (01:01:01):
If your verses round you are that, you know exactly
what that means.

Speaker 15 (01:01:05):
Help?

Speaker 3 (01:01:06):
Can that help?

Speaker 17 (01:01:06):
This team built?

Speaker 25 (01:01:08):
Is Tom man, that is the perfect That's exactly what
we want to hear, Plum.

Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Because we get that back to you.

Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
Thank you. Jena was already burns, he said himself.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
An interesting year too, like being activating, going to practice
squad is being ready. That's what veterans do, man, They
stay ready, so they ain't got to get ready. Breaking

(01:01:46):
Coming up next, we'll hear from Michael Durell and Michael Dixon.

Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
That's next on the Upcombak Radio Network.

Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
Seahawks went on the road thirty to twenty five beating
the Rams. They are now ten and seven, are finish
the season ten and seven, seven and one on the road.

Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
That let's go back to Jim Miller. She caught it
with Michael Jarrell before.

Speaker 23 (01:02:04):
We talk about your overall starting what you learned in
the time between starts? How good did it feel with
Jake Bobo handed you that football to Spike after the touchdown.

Speaker 16 (01:02:13):
Oh man, felt good.

Speaker 7 (01:02:14):
Man.

Speaker 26 (01:02:14):
I've always wanted to find a touchdown and then you
know the game. I never did that before. That was
my first home.

Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
So when he added to me, I was like, man,
I gotta I wanted to punch them all.

Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
You did that?

Speaker 23 (01:02:23):
Did you have any idea he was gonna turn and
give that to you?

Speaker 16 (01:02:27):
Nah? Nah, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
I didn't.

Speaker 16 (01:02:28):
It wasn't playing. It wasn't it wasn't playing.

Speaker 23 (01:02:31):
But I'm glad he did that in him over though,
And I'm glad we got a chance to see you
start again.

Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
What did you learn in the time in between?

Speaker 26 (01:02:39):
I learned that, like you know, to make you know,
make sure you take every rep you know, don't have
to take every rep for granted, you know, like you know,
keep working hard.

Speaker 17 (01:02:50):
Look at every game like a lesson. You don't learn
to build the ball every game.

Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Don't get too hot and don't get too low.

Speaker 14 (01:02:54):
And you don't just keep it going.

Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
Was it easier to go out there this time? Did
it feel like things had slowed down at all?

Speaker 5 (01:03:00):
Oh?

Speaker 16 (01:03:00):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 7 (01:03:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 26 (01:03:01):
I had great vest to help me out, but you
never help me to work on things and shout out
to them I appreciate them. They've they've helped they slope
the game down whole lot.

Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
Do you actually mean the vet who's standing right next
to you.

Speaker 26 (01:03:12):
I'm Jason Peters, Yes, Jason Peters going forward sight all
my vests.

Speaker 17 (01:03:17):
Even even with other people on.

Speaker 26 (01:03:18):
Online, olut the entire Olan Charles, they all stowed it up.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
Slowed down.

Speaker 23 (01:03:22):
For what will it mean for you to get an
entire offseason right, not preparing for a draft, to get
a chance to just focus on your body and focus
on football.

Speaker 14 (01:03:32):
Good back to the on board, you know, reponds and things.

Speaker 26 (01:03:35):
Look at what I would look at what I know
my flaws in the season, going to the off season
and try to build like, don't think of my strengths
and keep working on my strengths and just keep working
on weakness and show that's all I want to do.

Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
And maybe just work on the forum spanking of football.
I'm just gonna throw that one out there.

Speaker 23 (01:03:49):
You never know when that one's gonna happen again.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
Yeah, but we'll get that back to you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
Thanks Jaen.

Speaker 4 (01:03:54):
That was tackled Michael Drell, the sixth round pick out
of thinley Man. We saw a lot of guys at
that tackle spot this year, Big Ray, what would you
make of Michael Drew like to paint a pitcher or
give context my man went to a D two school
sixth round pick, not expecting to see much of them
because of injuries and the team experiencing he was thrown

(01:04:16):
out there would you make of them?

Speaker 10 (01:04:17):
Yeah, honestly, Like obviously everybody wants to be a start
in the league. I don't know that he is at
this point a dude that you would have as a
consistent starter. But he could be a guy that you know,
plays back up, swing tackle. He could be one of
those utility dudes that play up and down the offensive line.
I think he's athletic enough. He's he's shown that he

(01:04:38):
can play, you know, at this level at you know,
with certain types of players, Like I don't know, Like
I said, if you play against a pure power rusher
type of a dude, I think he might have some issues.
But against some of the more finesse pass rushers, I
think he does well and and he you know, he
does okay in the in the running game, there's a
there's a big leap from any level of college. Even

(01:04:59):
when they try to say, oh, I played inn SEC
and the NFL is gonna not be that hard. It
is still that hard. And so to come from where
he came from to try to be in this league
and have success, it's gonna take a while. It's gonna take,
you know, and it's gonna take patients from the staff,
you know, like today. You know, I don't know if
it was a great day for him today, but he
hung in there and battled and fought and all those

(01:05:19):
kinds of things. So he is a he's a project.

Speaker 6 (01:05:22):
You know.

Speaker 10 (01:05:22):
I was surprised that the Seahawks kept three rookie linemen
because then when you get to these places, like at
points in the season, we need backups. They're all dudes
that hadn't played before, and that's a tough spot to
be and when you're trying to you know, build a
team and win games, to meaningful games and things. So
I think he'll be around for a little bit and
they'll give him a chance to develop and get stronger

(01:05:43):
and get more reps and all that kind of stuff.
But you know, I think he is what we thought
he would be, you know, coming from from that league
to this one.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
All right, let's go back to the locker. Room, Jen
caught up with Michael Dixon.

Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
Okay, no, we usually don't talk to you, but after
a season like.

Speaker 23 (01:05:58):
This, we have got to talk about how you flip
the field consistently. After all the years you've been in
the league, where does this one ranked in terms of
how you feel you performed.

Speaker 16 (01:06:09):
I feel I feel like it'stly my best year.

Speaker 24 (01:06:12):
I feel like last year's with me my best Ye
I'll cool down, so I kind of add lunch something
you every year and try and add to my game.

Speaker 3 (01:06:20):
What was the thing that you learned this year that
led to improvement.

Speaker 16 (01:06:25):
I mean, it's kind of hard to say right now.
I just really liked my head space bes I.

Speaker 24 (01:06:30):
Kind of didn't let things out of my control frustrateley.
I kind of had my cues that I would look
at and just try and be the post and I
wanted to be the team.

Speaker 23 (01:06:40):
When you look at this defense and how it turned
a corner midway through the year, what did that mean
for you every time you took the field.

Speaker 16 (01:06:47):
I love it.

Speaker 24 (01:06:48):
I mean meatingham deepen saying the defense cool yet thanks
When you run off from the defensive gases to the
best I love it.

Speaker 23 (01:06:57):
Is it better than watching your teammate Jamike just kicked
fifty plush yarders like it's nothing.

Speaker 16 (01:07:04):
It's close close. I love, I love both. Jami was
on a roll this year.

Speaker 23 (01:07:08):
How did you see special teams evolved just as a
whole across the league?

Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
There were some world changes in some tweets. How'd you
see that change?

Speaker 16 (01:07:18):
I think, like you mean, like the k started not
as exciting because I thought it was going to be
a To be honest, I'm sure they're.

Speaker 24 (01:07:29):
Gonna tweet it again, but I mean I really liked
how how Jay coach his ship who don't want to
respect to him, and I think he did a great job.

Speaker 23 (01:07:38):
We've talked about how the defense can now pick up
where they left off last year.

Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
Right, it's a complicated system for Mike. Is it the
same with special teams or does.

Speaker 23 (01:07:46):
It not make that much of a difference Having familiarity
with the coach.

Speaker 24 (01:07:50):
I think it will make a different, Yeah, because you know,
early on in the year we'll still.

Speaker 16 (01:07:55):
You know, like adapt into a year system and your
style and you got to coach. But I think he
really started to face it together and yeah, trust trust, Okay,
I do this up saving.

Speaker 23 (01:08:10):
Okay, Look I hope that there's a Pro Bowl trip
in your future.

Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
But what does your off season hold?

Speaker 24 (01:08:18):
Kind of float around a bit and nobs yeast see
me an ugly to Spain only very view flowed around
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Yeah, you deserve some time off. Thank you for that bump.

Speaker 23 (01:08:29):
We'll get that back to you and let you guys
talk special teams for a bit.

Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
Michael Dixon average fifty seven yards per punt today. He's
currently third all time in average one second at some point.
But you mentioned it, Moyer. He's just getting started in
his career seven years. Some punters played for about twenty
five of them.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Thanks.

Speaker 9 (01:08:46):
I could barely walk so beat up after my seventh year.
And yeah, he's just getting started. You guys. Never made
the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
Really just he's never made the Pro Bowl. I don't
think all pro. He's never been all pro.

Speaker 9 (01:08:57):
Did he make the Pro Bowl one year?

Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
I think he's made a Pro Bowl, right, he might
be right. Maybe his rookie year, I think so.

Speaker 9 (01:09:02):
And a lot of it. You know, he's Ozzy er In,
you know, got some pub there. Yeah, just real quick.
He has really been a bright spot. I mean he's
been so consistent throughout the years, and you know, you
don't want to talk too much about punters and kickers,
but you know, he's he's been a good one, and
he gonna his career is going to continue. Man, he's
he's gonna be about a fifteen year career when he's

(01:09:22):
all said and done.

Speaker 12 (01:09:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (01:09:23):
Something that goes underrated as well with a punter is
the fact that he's got a hold for the kicker.

Speaker 12 (01:09:27):
And I think that's a big job.

Speaker 11 (01:09:28):
And I'm sure Jason Myers appreciates Michael Dixon like nobody else.
I mean, it's just that that relationship. But man, those guys,
You're right, Moyer, like, these guys can play fifteen twenty
years like it's nothing. I went my first year in
San Diego. We had Ciphers I think, who was like
sixteen seventeen years in. The long snapper was Dave Benn
was twenty years in. And it's just these guys just

(01:09:49):
keep on doing it as long. There are guys you
don't I don't know why we're talking about him because
you don't really want to talk about him.

Speaker 12 (01:09:54):
Is when you're talking about him.

Speaker 11 (01:09:55):
Usually something bad happens, you know, especially the long snappers
who I didn't mention all season.

Speaker 12 (01:09:59):
By the way, just so just so you guys know
last year. That was last year. But anyway, it's just
one of those things.

Speaker 3 (01:10:04):
Take it for crated.

Speaker 11 (01:10:05):
But it is a tough It is a tough job
what he does. I mean, just as a punter having
to hold and having to flip the field like that.

Speaker 27 (01:10:12):
Yeah, kicker, they're not real football players.

Speaker 7 (01:10:22):
Oh man.

Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
All right, Well, big ups to the kickers, the holders,
the snappers, all the specialists who play eighteen holes when
everyone else is all right, when we come back, we'll
give you our game, MVP.

Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
That is next.

Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
The Seahawks end the season on the high note, defeating
the Rams in their house.

Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
Ten and seven.

Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
Seahawks in their season with a win against the Rams
and Mike McDonald becomes the winning his first year head
coaching franchise history.

Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
He also got a DK metcalf.

Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
He joined Randy Moss as the only player in NFL
history to record fifty receptions and nine hundred yards plus
five touchdowns in each of their first six seeds. And
I think Justin Jefferson is going to join that crew.
Jamar Chase is going to join that crew. Maybe even
Ceedee Lamb I don't know the numbers, but that's what
I feel. But him and Randy stand alone right now.
But that's not about him. Maybe it is about him.

(01:11:12):
Sorry for our game, MBP, who got her done today.
Moyer has the stats in front of him, he has
a pen in front of him.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
He's ready to go. What you got.

Speaker 9 (01:11:23):
I'm gonna go first. I wanna go last.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
I'll go first last, All right, go ahead, Yeah, I'll
jump in there.

Speaker 10 (01:11:30):
I think I'm gonna go with Gino Smith just because
this dude has taking a lot of heat all year,
came into this game with all the load of incentives
to capture and he finished twenty for twenty seven two
and twenty three yards and four touchdowns and another game
winning drive. And so just because of a lot of

(01:11:53):
the heat he takes, and you can you can give
this to a couple other guys, I'm gonna go with
my guy, Gino, even with the warp sid it thro.

Speaker 11 (01:12:06):
I'm gonna agree with you on that, Big Ray. I
think I think this is the type of game you
expect from Gino all year long. As far as the
numbers wise, you don't. I don't think any team really
wants their quarterback throwing it forty fifty times a game,
and I feel like we've asked Gino to throw it
over forty times a game many times. But this is
this is Geno at his best play action, sitting in
the pocket a little more time, moved a little bit,

(01:12:28):
but you're not asking him or throw. You have a
little run game involved with him as well. And I
really liked what we saw from Geno. He was dead
accurate as usual, didn't make that big mistake, and three
for four touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (01:12:39):
So Geno's my MVP, all right, moy, wait before we
go to you, let's Paul Sen seconds to give our
network stations a chance to identify themselves here in the
Umpquall Bank Radio Network.

Speaker 15 (01:12:48):
K I R seven ten AM, Seattle, k I R
O f M, HD one and HD two Tacoma, Seattle,
the home of the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (01:12:57):
See your MVP required a granted, that's a good way.

Speaker 9 (01:13:01):
We wanted every station to pause there for station identification.
Look twenty for twenty seven, seventy four percent passing quarterback
creating one thirty seven point eight career high four tds. Phenomenal.
But my game MVP is Leonard Williams. And it is
I mean two sacks, you know, for an interior lineman

(01:13:24):
to have eleven sacks to be as dominant as he
was in the run game, and he was dominant this year.
He may handle people. And there were some games where
we said, oh that it's been a long time since
we've had a defensive player where they go, got a
game plan that guy right there. Yeah, and it sometimes
didn't matter. Again, I think there's a lot of help,
you know. I thought Jaron Reid had a really good season,

(01:13:46):
and certainly the linebackers came to play, you know, over
the last eight nine games. But I thought with Leonard Williams,
I'm so happy for him. I mean, he got completely
hosed on the Pro Bowl. It's it's a joke that
he wasn't voted in on it. He's going to get
in because one of the guys isn't gonna play. But again,
Gino phenomenal year. I really do believe that. I'm glad

(01:14:06):
he finished the way he did, hit all his deals.
But I think Leonard Williams was the MVP of this
team this year. For me. You know, there's JSN certainly
had some good years. I think Gino played well Charles
Cross all all the things, but Leonard to me was
dominant from the get go.

Speaker 10 (01:14:21):
And the cool thing about Leonard is that some some
defensive lineman just play one side of the ball, or
they just play over the nose, or they just play
with the guard. Leonard played up and down both sides. Yeah,
two point samas, three point samas. There So a couple
of plays against San Francisco where he just man handled
even Trent Williams.

Speaker 6 (01:14:39):
You know.

Speaker 10 (01:14:39):
So this dude is like a legit, like big time
disruptive player in the middle of the defense. And like
I said, it seems like from that press conference where
he kind of took ownership of things his then the
realization of the raw numbers started to kind of come
to life versus just having the metrics with the press

(01:15:00):
and all that. The thing that would be interesting to
see is his his double team rate, because this dude,
like was is double teamed a lot, and he made
a lot of like not just talent and saw it plays,
but effort plays where he just kind of outworked the
double team to get a sack or get a pressure
or make a tackle for loss. So, uh, the guy
like I would agree, like I know, earlier. We picked offense, defense,

(01:15:21):
all that stuff. But man, if you had to pick
one team guy uh for the MVP, I think I'd
ride with you with Dell.

Speaker 11 (01:15:27):
Here, here's what I'm so excited about, and that is
next season having a guy like Big Cat and then
you have a guy Byron Murphy coming in healthy, we hope,
and if he can make a jump like JSN had
this year as a rookie to the first year to
second year, if you can have Bira Murphy in there too,
being a disruptor like Leonard Williams.

Speaker 12 (01:15:45):
This is something.

Speaker 11 (01:15:46):
It's a that's a front two there, thew defensive tackles.
Could you could put him up with anybody in the
league with those guys, Yeah, I agree, and we all know.

Speaker 9 (01:15:54):
Look that second year you become a professional. You learn
how to. You learn how the first time how to.
I guess you don't really out checking books anymore, but
because they got all their CPAs and stuff. But you
learn how to become a man. You know, you're you're
paying bills, you have real money, you have your home.
Now you've this is your profession. You're around other professionals
have done it a long time. The thing about big

(01:16:14):
cat is now he's in his thirties. There's a lot
of guys who get big contracts don't live up to it.
This guy got a new contract and had his career year. Yeah,
I mean that is saying that's leadership. Man, You've got
to be excited for that that offseason. I agree with
Byron Murphy. It does what he's capable of doing because
he was double teamed every freaking snap And I said

(01:16:35):
the right word freaking snap in college and I don't
almost I don't even know. I mean, all of a sudden,
now he's going, oh, I'm singled. That's weird. That's different.
So yeah, he's got to make the next leap for
us to continue to grow as a defense.

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
All Right, my game, what we're doing now, Game MVP,
You're mine? Would be many Gino or Leonard. Yeah, I
was trying to decide who to roll with.

Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
You know what I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go to
Michael Dixon. Let's go game MVP.

Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
When we come back, man, we'll put a ball on
the show in the season that's coming to the next year.

Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
On the Umpquadbank Radio Network.

Speaker 5 (01:17:15):
First Down and ten from the Rams sixteen, Smith from
the shotgun takes the snap, Blitz is coming through the.

Speaker 6 (01:17:21):
Middle, ball is caught up ended. Fan is he into
the end zone? He is touchdown?

Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
Seahawks Fan live flat on his back, hangs on to
the football, helped up by his teammates.

Speaker 6 (01:17:35):
He said, what happened?

Speaker 5 (01:17:37):
They said, you scored from sixteen out and the Seahawks
go back on top thirty to twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
The call the game is brought to you by Beacon
Flumbing South.

Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Freaking call Beacon, that's no offense going up to get
that football where we were trying to decide if he
were in or not.

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
With slow motion confirmed that.

Speaker 4 (01:17:56):
And uh no of Fan, I think what I expected
out of him this year.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
To get a little more run after the catch.

Speaker 4 (01:18:01):
I think he had his moments he was he is
the most are the Yeah, the most explosive tight end
we have on this roster. You got aj Barner, who
I think is gonna be good, Parl Brown who was
really just signed to do some blocking.

Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
What'd you make offense season?

Speaker 9 (01:18:16):
First off? I mean our two tight ends were leading
receivers today. I mean at least from catches targets. I
mean Fan had six targets, five receptions and Barner was
five for five there, so both of them got tds also,
and Grubb wants a tight end. We need production from
the tight end, you know. Again to me offensive line,

(01:18:37):
I think we got to I think we got to
add a piece to the tight end. I think we
need to get a dominant blocking tight end, a dominant
one if you want to make this running game the
way you need to, because there was times where our
titands just didn't quite get it done, particularly in some
short yarded stuff. Fan is a skilled player. I mean
he is a He's a threat in the passing game.
He's become a capable blocker. You know, if he's your

(01:19:01):
second best tight end blocker, you're okay. So yeah, again,
was hurt a bunch this year, you know, didn't you know,
you know, it didn't get quite the games and opportunities
that he did. That's good for Barner because he got
some opportunities. Need Barner next year, take a step. Fant
still under contract to maybe guy add another third. Whatever
he does, he's got to be really good at it.

Speaker 10 (01:19:22):
I mean he's gone to finish the year with like
five hundred yards receiving, you know, which you considering the
receivers you have on this team, that's probably not that bad,
but you would probably want more production in the red zone.
I think the one touchdown is probably you know, if
he had like six or seven touchdowns, you know, red
zone type deals, I think that that would look a
little bit different. And then, like you said, Paul, I

(01:19:43):
don't think he was much of a blocker when he
came to the team, but he became a willing blocker,
which matters too, But he's not going to be a
dominant blocker. I don't think that's the kind of type
of tight end he is. And and you know, I
don't know about the other two developing into blockers, but
it does help when you have a tight end that
can do that. It can help if you have a
tight end that can do both. The only you know,

(01:20:06):
there's a couple of tight ends in the draft. I
don't know if those are the dudes that you go
after though, considering the other things that you need so
that you can have time to even get to the
checkdown if that's where the tight end sets most of
the time. So but yeah, I've always liked Fan because
he seems like a dude that can catch the ball
for ten or fifteen yards and take it sixty seven

(01:20:26):
yards for a touchdown, like he has like that type
of speed. It just never happened this year. But at
the end of the year he has respectable numbers other
than in the touchdown space.

Speaker 11 (01:20:36):
Yeah, and one thing I like too as a pass catcher,
he's efficient and he doesn't get his number called a lot,
but when he does, you know, his targets are you know,
he catches four for five or three for four. You know,
three catches four targets and so when when his number
is called upon, you know he's catching the ball, he's
not letting that thing hit the ground. I think he
only had a couple of games where you know, he

(01:20:56):
had over two or over two or three passes that
were incompletions to him. So he's been very efficient. I
think he's got about a seventy five percent catch rate
as far as that goes. But yeah, I think he
could be a big weapon to use in the red zone,
a big target for Gino that you'd want to see
a little more of it.

Speaker 12 (01:21:14):
I don't think they utilize it all this year.

Speaker 9 (01:21:16):
I think also is look, it's been a few years
where we just had to keep the tight ends in
too much too, you know, to help protect I mean
the revolving door at right tackle, at right guard, at center,
you know, to finally get it somewhat solidified. I thought
protection was pretty good. Gino does a good job of
moving around there too, But we solidify that. Maybe they
get how they really wanted to utilize them when we

(01:21:39):
first got them.

Speaker 2 (01:21:40):
All Right, so the season is all said and done.
We're gonna go around.

Speaker 4 (01:21:43):
We're gonna do exercise, okay, guys, right, exercise one word
to describe the season for you. Guys, I'm gonna give
you a few seconds to think about it. Many ways
you can go. The offense started off hot, defense kind
of took over after that. Gino broke some records, DK
broke some rerecors. Jason I had a record. There are
different places that you can go. So hopefully that's enough

(01:22:04):
stallin for you. One word, one word word, one word
to describe the season for you.

Speaker 9 (01:22:10):
One word, one word, one not I was this word
that creates a sentence.

Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
I know it right, I'll do I'll do this real quick.
I'll I'll buy you some times.

Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Twelve together, you helped the Seahawks fifty fifty revel for
Zenta by Starbugs Race over one million dollars for our community.

seahawks dot com slash community. All Right, you guys are
all scholars here, Yeah, okay, went to Virginia.

Speaker 10 (01:22:38):
I'm gonna go to a s U. I'm gonna go
with the word, uh, intriguing. Intriguing, Yeah, because there were, uh,
there's a lot of things that kind of pique your interests, like, oh, man,
like if we just had that person or had just
that call, this thing would look really cool. We had
a player that looked that played like this, that unit

(01:22:59):
might be a better or you know, show up better
like that type of thing.

Speaker 21 (01:23:02):
And then.

Speaker 10 (01:23:04):
Just watching them, watching the whole staff, all this newness,
try to navigate this whole world in this new space
and this season and players and all that kind of stuff.
To me, it was it was intriguing towards like this
positive piece of it though, like there's something there that
they're that is good. But it was intriguing watching them
trying to figure it all out.

Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
Be walked.

Speaker 12 (01:23:26):
I'm gonna go with one word to describe this season was.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Adventurous, adventurous.

Speaker 11 (01:23:32):
I think I think this whole season was like a hike, right,
You're going on a hike. You're and you're getting into
you're finding ways, fighting different paths. Maybe you're going off
the beaten path here, and that's when you're finding ways
to lose games you never thought you could. But then
you're also taking up challenges and you know, you're hiking
up hills. I'm just going with this. By the way,
this was unplanned, I don't know. So I'm just gonna

(01:23:53):
see and and you're you know, you're winning some games,
you're going on streaks, you're getting momentum.

Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
Go.

Speaker 12 (01:23:57):
I just think it the whole season with his adventure.

Speaker 11 (01:23:59):
It really was that it just went all sorts of
different ways and kind of you're along for the ride,
you're not. You really never knew what was next. You
didn't know what team you were going to get at
any point of the season. Sometimes they look like Super
Bowl team. Sometimes they look like a team that should
be fourth in the NFC West. So that's what I'm
going with.

Speaker 9 (01:24:15):
Yeah, this it's a tough one actually, because I'm like,
what was the season? The word that popped out for
me was optimistic. But it's because it's this crescendo that's
been built for where we're going, right, And so I
don't know if we felt we were Super Bowl to
I never felt that I felt we could win. I

(01:24:36):
was hopeful. Yeah, we started with hopeful that we'd get there,
and then at the end when it's the conclusion here
is I'm optimistic about the future. And so good question,
hard answer.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
All right, Mine is complicated.

Speaker 5 (01:24:53):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
It was a complicated season.

Speaker 4 (01:24:54):
You got shifting on the offensive line, you have a
three game winistry four game losing streak, a four game
winning streak, trying to figure out if Gino's gonna be
the guy? What are you gonna do with DK? Like
we had all these questions that we knew we're gonna
have to be answered. At the end of the season,
it's like we're finally here and it's just complicated, like
what are you gonna do to build off of this season?

(01:25:15):
What's real and what's not? So that's my word. It
was complicated. Yeah, all right. Today's final score Seahawks thirty
Rams twenty five. You've been listening to the unquall bank
of radio network. I like to thank the people who
make are broadcast possible. Production assistant is actually Oaks Studio
coordinators Brady Roebiic and Max Strobel, executive producer of the
Seahawks Radio Network's NASA Choby. Unfortunately, the season has come

(01:25:38):
to an end. We thank you all for listening to
us all season long. It wasn't the final outcome that
we wanted, but this team has a really bright feature ahead.
The next time you hear for us from us will
be in August to begin the twenty twenty five season
on the Seahawks Radio Network. For Seattle stations, we have
another hour Hawk Talk, but if you are leaving us,
thanks for listening. For Paul Moyer, Ray robertson, Brian Waltchs.
I'm Michael Bumpus Seahawks WIM thirty to twenty five over

(01:26:01):
the Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:26:01):
Talk to you next season.

Speaker 15 (01:26:12):
This is Hawk Talk Postgame, our joint presentation of Cairo
News Radio ninety seven three FM and Seattle Sports, brought
to you by your book, Wi Carrier, Heating and cooling Dealer,
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and by Pello Windows and Doors
of Western Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
Welcome to Hawk Talk on Michael Bubbas with Ray Roberts
Brian Walters and Paul Moyer.

Speaker 4 (01:26:36):
The Hawks finish on a high note, beating the Rams
thirty to twenty five. They end the season with a
ten to seven record, seven and one on the road,
in a six game winning streak on the road, which
has never been done in this franchise. But yeah, let's
break this whole thing down. It was weird watching this one, fellas,
because we're watching this game, and I think one or

(01:26:56):
two you guys pointed this out a couple of times,
like the stress we would be in during this game
if if we were playing for a playoff spot or
something like that, it would have been entightened that room.

Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
But it wasn't.

Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
We're watching this and we're just evaluating players and trying
to see who's.

Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
Gonna do what.

Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
And and I was, at least while watching this game,
just going through the whole season trying to make sense
of it. So let's do that real quickly, Big Ray,
ten and seven, seven to one on the row, three
and six at home. Just your your first thought after
the clock hit, zeros and it was time to start
this post game show and talk about the team not
going to the playoffs.

Speaker 10 (01:27:30):
Yeah, well, you know, in our last segment, we talked
about the one word that described the season, and I
used the word intriguing, because intriguing encompasses like the curiosity
and sometimes some excitement about what could be or what's
to come, and and so that's the way I look
at the season like it. It was intriguing because you

(01:27:51):
have this new coach who had you know, he's a
coach in the league, but it hadn't been a head coach.
You have an offensive coordinator that was super successful in college.
You haven't a of some college like collegiate type coaches
coming into the to the system coaching for the first time.
You have John Snyder without Pete Carroll. You have you know,
a defense that had players taking on roles they hadn't

(01:28:15):
had played before, as far as starting in the amount
of reps and things. You changed linebackers in the middle
of the season. Uh, you know, you're you're still trying
to figure out what the offense is and what it's not.
You have a quarterback who's a polarizing figure, but we
also know that these are, you know, a really good
football player. So there's just a lot of things like
that that were intriguing, intriguing to me. And uh, and
so it was unfortunate that, you know, the overtime game

(01:28:38):
against the Rams, the loss against the Giants, two games
that you one game you on paper you should have
won and the Rams game you should have won that
one based on how you played until right down to
the end. So amazing that those two games or that
one or two plays had that type of impact on

(01:28:58):
this team to where you get ten wins and you
don't make it to the playoffs, and then everyone's trying
to decide whether it was a good season or not.
And it really came down to maybe two or three
or four plays in those two or three games.

Speaker 11 (01:29:09):
Yeah, watching the game unfortunately almost felt like we were
watching preseason game because you just didn't really have a
care of the outcome.

Speaker 12 (01:29:15):
But you just want to see.

Speaker 11 (01:29:16):
Players play well, hit their incentives and kind of make
their own names for themselves. But yeah, bigger, I mean,
it's crazy how one play two plays Really, that's what
the whole season comes down to. And you could even
call it not even a play that you did, it's
it's if the Cardinals, you know, from the five yard line,
the ball doesn't bounce off I think Bride's helmet and

(01:29:38):
the Rams intercept it, then this game actually meant something.
One play did that, and then you know you're fighting
for the NFC West Championship.

Speaker 12 (01:29:44):
So yeah, is this season is a success? Yes? And no,
but but yes.

Speaker 11 (01:29:51):
Because the first year head coaches to get ten wins.
You're actually the first team I've said this many times
already that has had ten wins and didn't make the
playoffs and say expanded the season to seventeen games. I mean,
that's something every other team has has has made it.
You're the first team since twenty twenty with ten wins.
The Dolphins who didn't make the playoffs in twenty twenty
to not make the playoffs with ten wins. So there's

(01:30:11):
a lot of things that didn't go your way, but
just one or two plays. That's what the season comes
down to. That's why everything is so important. That's why
we always harp on it as well, how big that is.
But you got to get better at home. I think
that's the big thing for this team. The way they
figured out the away games somehow, I don't know what
their secret is. Keep that, but you got to win
games at home. That's that's kind of the key to

(01:30:34):
this because those games you're expected to win, and I
think that's the biggest thing. That's where this team let
things get out of hand for them and got put
in this tough situation.

Speaker 9 (01:30:44):
Yeah, really close. You know, I'll break it this season
up to the good, the bad, and the very good.
You know, the good was the first three games of
the year, we go, oh, we got a defense, and
you know, partly it was you know, we didn't face
the best quarterbacks at the time, you know, Bowneckt with
the rookie a New England and then Miami. You mentioned
the home games. We lost five or last six at

(01:31:06):
home too good teams other than the Giants, you know,
I mean, you lose to Detroit or excuse me, you
lose to Green Bay and Buffalo, you know San Francisco
at the time, those are good ones. But the good
we start off the bad. Man, we lose five of
our next six, and we're reeling. I mean it's bad.
I mean, defense is taking a nosedive. We're trying to

(01:31:27):
sort things out. We hit the bye week and man,
all of a sudden, the very good hits. And this
is where I'm optimistic. This is where we got the
right head coach. I don't want to say I was
question It's too early to question it, but I was curious.
All right, this is true adversity. He's never experienced this
as a head coach. He's got coordinators, coaches, players, upper man, everybody,

(01:31:50):
all the weights on him. He's a young man, thirty
seven years old. Man, that's a lot. And well he
comes out of the bye weekend. We make changes. I mean,
we know, all have our linebacker, we got all new linebackers.
Were just the way we're using our secondary now. He
slowly starts putting his system back together. Slow he said,

(01:32:12):
we got to get good at some things. And all
of a sudden, the very good kicks in and we
win six of our next eight, and you know, we
run off four in a row. There, get back in
the playoff hunt. So I am really optimistic. You talk
about one player, two plays. I mean, again, sorry for
calling your name out, but I've got to because the
play was so big. We're playing Minnesota. We got to

(01:32:32):
stop on third down. I've got a corner who's lined
up all sides. We get off the field. We're off
the field. They've got to kick a field goal. We
win that game. Instead, they you know, get a touchdown
the very next play. You know, we've got the lead
in the fourth quarter. One of our very best players,
Julian Love. Julian Love by the way he you know,

(01:32:53):
he just I get how we played that cover two
and Jefferson the way he took the route and then
Widen he just didn't expect the ball to be thrown
the way he did, and Darnold made a great throw.
But you know, those are the games you gotta win those,
you know, giants. Obviously the block field goals were going
in to tie the forty nine or skins of the
ram game. We're going in for the go ahead, not

(01:33:14):
just to go the game is tied, we're about to
go up seven or three. One hundred and three are
touchdown the other way. You know, this could have been
a really good year without a complete team yet, So
I'm really optimistic. I think there's so much positives and
maybe some of the Homer in me at the same time.
To be brutally honest, for us to get where we
got to want to get, we have to get better everywhere.

(01:33:35):
I need Witherspoon to get a little better. I need
more interceptions from him, more impact plays along with all
of his great plays. You know, our linebackers there, I
think they get better. We need Derek Hall to take
another step, which was a huge step. May Mafe all that,
and then the offensive line that is without question, we
get that jump. Look, man, I'm gonna say, why wouldn't

(01:33:59):
we be a super boll contender next year? I think
with our defense and some of the skilled people around us.
But we got work to do.

Speaker 6 (01:34:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:34:06):
For me, the work starts in the trenches. And Will
Schneider kind of changed his approach. Doesn't like to overpay
I guess what he calls overpaying offensive lineman. But with
a new headed coach, you never know. You get new influences, right,
new voices talking to him. So we shall see. But no,
I think this season was It was satisfactory for me
because this is what I thought this team would be,
understanding that there's gonna be some bumps in the roads

(01:34:26):
and that everything's new, it's fresh. You got to figure
some things out. But they got a bunch of talent.
But every year you never have the same team coming back.

Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
I hear Michael Parson say, let's run it back with
the same guys. You know, dang well, that ain't gonna happen.
They don't happen on any football team. Even the Super
Bowl champions have a different locker room in some aspect.
So yeah, it's about getting better. I'm with you one
hundred percent right there. Okay, when we come back, we're here.
From Tyree's Night, Jen Mueller caught up with him. That's
next on your home for the Seahawks, Sattles Warts seven
ten and Communists Radio ninety seven to three i.

Speaker 15 (01:34:54):
FM THISK Talk Postgame, a joint presentation of Cairo News
ninety seven twenty FM and Seattle Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:35:04):
You are listening to talking Michael Bumbas with the Fellas,
Ray Roberts, Brian Walters and Paul Moyer.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Let's hear from Tyree's Night. Jim Muller call it with.

Speaker 23 (01:35:12):
Him a little bit different look today for the Rams
with Jimmy g at quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
How did that change things for you today?

Speaker 7 (01:35:19):
I don't want to say a chance, Dame from O Bro.

Speaker 20 (01:35:21):
I know, quarterback, a book quarterback, regardless we were behind
the center. You know, I just felt like as a
whole I just had to play that.

Speaker 23 (01:35:27):
Like at the start out you get a sack on
the opening series.

Speaker 17 (01:35:30):
How'd you get to him?

Speaker 20 (01:35:32):
You know? You know he gave me a one on
one in the center, you know, and I just want
my match. I just blessed that he called a call.

Speaker 7 (01:35:37):
I made play.

Speaker 23 (01:35:39):
Now, did you know you had it all the way
because we were waiting to see who got credit for
that sack?

Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
Considering how many of you guys were right there, I know.

Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
I was dead.

Speaker 7 (01:35:47):
I was getting half roger by who who's either the
other half?

Speaker 10 (01:35:51):
Man?

Speaker 20 (01:35:51):
It turns out they gave it to EJ. I don't
know how you even got that cause he ain't even
do any That.

Speaker 23 (01:35:56):
Was crazy, Okay, So that's gonna be settled in locker
room in some sort of a meeting. The fact that
this game comes down to a defensive stand, what does
that mean for you guys to come up with that
play at the end?

Speaker 7 (01:36:09):
You know it just like you said, it came out
to a defensive stand. So that means the whole game
that went on to the water y'all. You know, we
ain't have enough to move playing for.

Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
Today, So.

Speaker 7 (01:36:18):
Let you know that we got a little harder. You
got sustemed that we set ourselves.

Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
What have you learned from Leonard Williams.

Speaker 17 (01:36:26):
That boy monster.

Speaker 7 (01:36:27):
You know, I never feel like him, never played they
you do make me better.

Speaker 23 (01:36:30):
Were you as excited as he was when you saw
him get the sack that got him to ten this year?

Speaker 20 (01:36:35):
Oh yeah, you know, we just you know, over the
last five weeks or whatever, he did a lot of
monsters terrist So him just finished off with ten just
shows that he'd been preparing well this season.

Speaker 23 (01:36:44):
Where do you think you took the biggest jump in
your game play recognition?

Speaker 20 (01:36:49):
You know, if you go a little bathroom on three
games up there early and the season in the last
eight or seven wherever I played us, he'll pick the
john away.

Speaker 7 (01:36:56):
Me just moved and left the right. So I think
it was the biggest jump.

Speaker 12 (01:36:59):
So how you approach this offseason?

Speaker 20 (01:37:02):
You know I approached it like instead of Ricky, you know,
the person last stay I signed, the crew just got
to continue to burk and honestly just come ready finis ship.

Speaker 17 (01:37:10):
I know I'm pretty sure to get her spot.

Speaker 23 (01:37:12):
Is there anything I think I would hope you also
take a little time off, time off in.

Speaker 20 (01:37:16):
The cards days, but you know, poking forward to it, man,
you know.

Speaker 17 (01:37:24):
Ricky season, first offseason has a lot to look forward
to him.

Speaker 23 (01:37:27):
Yes there is, and certainly for this defense as a whole.

Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
Bump will get that back.

Speaker 16 (01:37:31):
To you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
Thanks Jamee. That was ty resent night.

Speaker 4 (01:37:34):
The young man was was thrown into the fire, what
halfway through the season or after the trade deadline and said, look,
go get her done. And uh, Moyer, you said you
were wrong about him. You said you didn't think that
he had the juice to get her done, but ended
up being solid for this team.

Speaker 9 (01:37:48):
Yeah, probably one of my biggest I just didn't see
him being that good of a player. You know, again,
I will see how good he is. It's his rookie year,
and I think he played a really good role. You know,
in college he was productive. He made a lot of tackles,
but I didn't think a lot of impactful tackles. You
guys have heard me say this. But man, he's got

(01:38:10):
a really good feel for the run game and he's
got a very good feel for the pass game. So
I'm excited again. I'm optimistic about next year. I'm just
reading here. You know, Ernest Jones said he's optimistic about
getting a deal done. He said they're close. He goes,
I believe it'll happen before free agency happens. I hope so,
because now you get too he's twenty five years old,
maybe twenty six, his birthday was coming up, and then

(01:38:33):
you know you got Tyreeve Knight, who you know again,
they're going to try and get more linebackers compete, can
compete competing and keep building this roster with depth. So yep,
really excited about McKnight.

Speaker 7 (01:38:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:38:43):
I think he's a really kind of a raw kind
of a player too, because I remember in the preseason
coach McDonald was saying that, like he doesn't always look
right like when he's going about his business, but he
makes a ton of tackles and so they had to
try to balance whether they wanted to look right versus
him with the production with the tackles, and so it

(01:39:04):
got to a point where they threw him in there
and that's what he's doing. So like there are times
where I saw him like take on the block and
do it like a three sixty span, Like that move
didn't work, but it was kind of interesting to watch
him try it. And but you know, like Dave talks
about going underneath the blocks a lot, and he is
really good at that. He's able to get underneath the
block but then get back square to the line of

(01:39:24):
scrimmage to where he can put his body in a
position to make a tackle. And so it'd be interesting
to see how he improves, you know, over the year.
And then even listening to Ernest Jones was saying that
the two of them just really connected. From the first
time he walked into the locker room, they just became
really good friends. And so he felt like it felt
like he felt when Bobby Wagner came to the Rams,

(01:39:46):
and he was saying, like, man, here's Bobby. What he
learned a lot from Bobby, and so he felt like
he was passing down what he was learning to this
young dude. And so some of the times when I
was watching the film, even watching them, when they settle
in their stance, it was almost like they were doing
synchronized settling, like they were doing exact same moves, look
exactly the same body position, all that kind of stuff. So,
like Paul said, like, he's did some great things. Now

(01:40:09):
you've got to see if he can keep building on
that so that he doesn't this isn't the same player
he will he won't be the same player next year.
He'd be something different.

Speaker 11 (01:40:17):
Yeah, And to get into his numbers a little bit,
you know, he only played what eleven games I believe
as the linebacker because they filled in earlier in the
year as well. So he played eleven games he had
he had seventy seven tackles as a linebacker in those games.
So you're averaging about seven point seven tackles, you know,
you do put that to seventeen games, you're averaging about
one hundred and thirty tackles for a year. And that's
pretty good. That's with the tops. He's a tackler and

(01:40:38):
that's what you like about him. He doesn't miss a
lot of tackles and you know, he gets the job done.
I don't you know, maybe not be flashy, not making
the big play, but he is gonna tackle.

Speaker 12 (01:40:49):
And that's what he was in college too. He was
a tackler.

Speaker 11 (01:40:51):
He set records for tackling for the amount of tackles,
and he showed that's what he can do here for
the Seahawks.

Speaker 7 (01:40:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:40:56):
I'll say two things that you are just commented to.
It thinks you said he has a really good field.
He doesn't run around blocks. If he sees a runner,
he'll come underneath the block, but he keeps it so
tight and he'll find a small window and he makes
those tackles, I mean, very high percentage. The other one
is he stops runners right, he's not a wrap around guy,

(01:41:19):
and to carry next to three four yards when he
hits him, it's a down. Ernest Jones was similar. And
you know again, when all of a sudden you make
a tackle and it's second down and seven versus second
down and four or three, it's a big difference difference.

Speaker 4 (01:41:32):
I like the way you describe they were synchronized in
their movements. Yeah, you know that means the big home
he's teaching a little hominge and he's watching film with him.
I can imagine, and I'm sure you've been that mentor
you to Paul, you b Waders that you're sitting next
to the young guy and you're just having football conversations
while you're watching film and they're just taking it all in.
So I'm glad you guys see that from Tyree's nine
on film man, because that combo can be something special.

(01:41:54):
If Ernest Jones stays who he is and if Tyree's
Night continues to grow, all right, we'll we come back,
We'll give you our high light recap that's next in
your home for the Seahawks heat the Sport seven to
ten and Calbra Who's Radio ninety seven to three FM.

Speaker 15 (01:42:06):
This is this Hawk Talk postgame, a joint presentation of
Cairo News Radio ninety seven to three FM and Seattle Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
You are listening to Hawk Talk and for the last time,
it's time for the high light recap.

Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
Let's get into it. The game starts off in the
Rams out the football.

Speaker 4 (01:42:23):
They got a punt, The Seahawks punt, the Rams punt
and then the Seahawks get on the board. They go
five plays, fifty five yards. Shake Bobbo gets into an
in zone for the first time this year.

Speaker 7 (01:42:32):
Do you know?

Speaker 5 (01:42:32):
It takes a shotgun snap, looks far side, throws, back
shoulder throw, bowls cock Bobo touchdown Seahawks. Jake Bobo cost
his team five a little while ago. Now he puts
six on the board for the Seahawks. A four yard
touchdown catch and the Seahawks on the board first six.

Speaker 11 (01:42:51):
Nothing good to see Bobo getting the inZone on the
last game of the season. You know, a little hesitation
off the line of scrimmage on the fade route and
Gino put it up where Bobo can get it, and
Bubbo used his height and went up and came down
with the touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:43:04):
That made the score seven to zero. The Rounds will
get the football. They go nine plays forty four yards
got to kick a field goal put on the foot
at seven to three, Hawks get the ball back to
bag Drives. They score. Seventh plays seventy yards. DK reach
an end.

Speaker 5 (01:43:16):
Zone from the LA twenty tight trips left side. Gino
has time, steps up, spins out of a tackle.

Speaker 6 (01:43:22):
Now he throws to the end zone.

Speaker 5 (01:43:23):
Coddon touchdown. Say Hawks d k metcalf A Kello Witherspoon
his teammate.

Speaker 6 (01:43:33):
For a cup of coffee.

Speaker 5 (01:43:35):
On coverage that time, Gino doing a great job stepping
out of trouble, stepping up and throwing a twenty yard
dart to DK in the.

Speaker 6 (01:43:43):
Back of the end zone.

Speaker 10 (01:43:45):
Now that's a pretty cool play by Gino because he
didn't just step up and out of trouble. They did
a three to sixty spin. Came out of the spin
and throw a put it, you know, through a dime
right to DK and DK was able to catch it
for the touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:43:59):
Gino looking good in the pocket the Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:44:01):
They would respond.

Speaker 4 (01:44:02):
They go eight play seventy eight yards, making a score
fourteen to ten.

Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
Jimmyg finds Tyler Higbee.

Speaker 5 (01:44:08):
At the sixth play fake Garoppolo looks he's gonna dump
it off into the far side.

Speaker 6 (01:44:12):
Clap touchdown. Still Hicky Witherspoon was in giving chase.

Speaker 5 (01:44:18):
It looked like Higbee slow block and then just released
into the corner of the end zone. A six yard
touchdown reception in the Rams draw out a fourteen to
nine with the Seahawks on top.

Speaker 9 (01:44:29):
Yeah, he described you right. It was just he delayed.
It looks like he blocked. We dropped off and then
he just went into the flat, which didn't have anybody
there to rally for it.

Speaker 4 (01:44:37):
See also, we'll get the football and they go nine
plays thirty five yards. They kick a field goal seventeen
to ten. Three straight possessions. What they score now the
defense shows up three plays later, Julian love Win interception.

Speaker 5 (01:44:49):
Third down and seven rivers in the backfield. Rams are
one to five. On third down, Garoppolo from the shotgun
Blitz is coming throw far side. It's intercepted far side
of the field. Turning up field Julian Love and is
twisted off his feet at the forty five of Seattle.

Speaker 6 (01:45:05):
The Seahawks we thought got to take away earlier in
the game, it was overturned. This time they get one
and it's gonna stand.

Speaker 9 (01:45:12):
Yeah. Julian Love drops down his safety spot and he's
gonna take the hook the flat area. He reads the play.
They clearly coach this one up, but it was something
they had seen on film. As soon as he saw
the play, he worked right to the sideline and looked
up the out route. Quarterback just didn't think he was
going to get there in time. And again great coaching
and a guy who really understands this game, Julian Love,

(01:45:34):
who should be in the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 4 (01:45:36):
Seahawks will not get any points off of that turnover,
but the Rounds will get the football one more time
before the half. They kick a field goal. It is
seventeen to thirteen. At the halftime, the Seahawks are up.
Hawks get the football. They go three plays, zero points.
Got to put on the foot. The Rams get the
football and they go nine plays forty yards.

Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
But you know what we got. Leonar Wins with a sack.

Speaker 5 (01:45:56):
Laroppolo is going to go under center, who's a big guy,
but he's gonna turn play fake, He's gonna get chased,
he's gonna be dragged down by Leonard Williams. And that
makes and even ten on the season for Leo, his
second career ten sacks season, and Dave, we talked about
it for an inside defensive lineman, almost unheard of Williams

(01:46:19):
now ten sacks on the season, the first se Yawks
player with double digit sacks since Frank Clark back in
twenty eighteen.

Speaker 10 (01:46:27):
Yeah, like we know what, two or three of us
had Leonard as our key hawk of the game and
just thinking that he's gonna play with a different energy
finally came to life. He was able to get to sack,
to get to double digit sacks. Leonard Williams had just
been a beast of a player all year long, even
when he wasn't getting the raw you know, numbers, he
has really been an impactful player on the defense. And then,

(01:46:49):
like we talked about earlier, after this press conference, taking
ownership of what needed to happen, his season just really
took off from there. And this was a culmination of that.

Speaker 4 (01:46:58):
The Rams will kick a field goal after that Secon
the fifty seven yard field goal make the score seventeen
to sixteen.

Speaker 2 (01:47:03):
The Hawks are up.

Speaker 4 (01:47:03):
Hawks get the football and they respond ten plays seventy
yards A J. Barner with a four yard touchdown. Fourteen
It's give me twenty four to sixteen Seahawks.

Speaker 6 (01:47:11):
Sharvi and any of the.

Speaker 5 (01:47:12):
Single setback phanto in the backfield now plays out.

Speaker 6 (01:47:16):
Do you know as time goes back to the middle
of the field, it's caught. It's a touchdown Seahawks to Barner.

Speaker 5 (01:47:25):
AJ Barner is making a name for himself catching touchdown
passes here as the season goes on.

Speaker 6 (01:47:33):
What a great job by that young man, just finding.

Speaker 5 (01:47:36):
A little dead space right between two linebackers in the
end zone. And Barner now comes up with his fourth
touchdown reception of the season.

Speaker 11 (01:47:45):
And AJ Barner had five catches on the day, none
were bigger than this one. And remember he actually had
the ten yard play to get the first down to
set up the and goal situation for the Seahawks offense.

Speaker 12 (01:47:54):
This play was unusual.

Speaker 11 (01:47:55):
Barn's on the right side line of scrimmage and he
hesitated block and then east all the way across line. Screamers,
you're almost posted up like a basketball player, and Gino
Smith stepped up and threw it low where only aj
Barner can get it for the touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
The Rams just won't go away. The twos are out
there and make him plays. They go nine plays, seventy yards.
Jimmy g finds Tyler Johnson for a four yard touchdown,
making the score twenty four twenty two.

Speaker 5 (01:48:18):
H'g be the tight end on the right side. Play
fake h'g be itch to the flat. There's a throw
across the field touchdown.

Speaker 6 (01:48:25):
Ball is caught in the back of the end zone
by Tyler.

Speaker 5 (01:48:29):
Johnson Garoppolo rolling out to his right side. Pretty tight coverage.
Witherspoon was right there. It's just tough to defend a
perfect pass four yard for a touchdown. And the Rams
bound down by two, twenty four to twenty two, and
they're gonna go to the two point conversion.

Speaker 9 (01:48:46):
Yeah, we didn't play great defense in the second half,
but this was just a play that just takes a
long time. And they work the back of the ends
and he starts towards the kind of the post like
he's gonna run across the route, actually wheels all the
way back to his right works back of the endzone.
I'm really good throwing the corner of the end zone
by Garoppolo.

Speaker 4 (01:49:03):
That made the score twenty four to twenty two. The
Hawks will get the football. They got a punt it
and the Rams get the football. They score a field goal,
making the score twenty four to twenty five, and they
Gino got to put together drive once again. He does that,
finds Noah Fan for a touchdown thirty twenty five Seahawks first.

Speaker 6 (01:49:19):
Down and ten from the Rams. Sixteen.

Speaker 5 (01:49:22):
Smith from the shotgun, takes the snap, Blitz is coming,
throw to the middle, ball is caught up ended Fan
is he into the end zone?

Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
He is touchdown.

Speaker 5 (01:49:31):
Seahawks Fan lying flat on his back, hangs on to
the football, helped up by his teammates.

Speaker 6 (01:49:39):
He said, what happened?

Speaker 5 (01:49:40):
They said, you scored from sixteen out and the Seahawks
go back on top thirty to twenty five.

Speaker 10 (01:49:47):
Man, I don't know if I can describe that any
better than Raves did right there. But no offense, first
and only touchdown of the season he had. I think
he led the team in receptions in yardish. Receiving yardish
today put him a I think right at around five
hundred yards receiving in one touchdown. So good for Noah
been able to cap the season off with a touchdown that.

Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
Made the score thirty to twenty five. But it's not
over the rounds. We'll get the full ball. With three
minutes and nineteen seconds left in the game, they go
all the way down to.

Speaker 2 (01:50:13):
The Seahawks nine yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:50:14):
Jimmy g on fourth down, can't connect Garoppolo on fourth.

Speaker 6 (01:50:18):
Down from the shotgun, looks gonna.

Speaker 5 (01:50:20):
Throw back inside, low throw hits the ground incomplete.

Speaker 6 (01:50:25):
The Seahawks are gonna win this game.

Speaker 5 (01:50:29):
Garoppolo, for all the good throws he's made, has thrown
a half a dozen passes blowing in the dirt.

Speaker 6 (01:50:35):
To his intended receivers, and that was.

Speaker 27 (01:50:38):
One of them.

Speaker 5 (01:50:38):
Good tight coverage by the Hawks. The Seattle defense makes
a stand.

Speaker 11 (01:50:43):
Yeah, fourth and three with your ten game season on
the line. This is a little world route on the
outside by the Rams receiver and already Burns played it perfectly.
There was nowhere for Garoppolo to put that ball except
for low, and it was too low where it bounced.

Speaker 12 (01:50:56):
To the receiver and the Seahawks come out with the win.

Speaker 4 (01:50:59):
That will be at this Seahawks win thirty to twenty
five in La, improveing to ten and seven on the year.
Today's game recap is brought to you by Michels Shoe
Casino Resort, Bigger, better, the best in the Northwest.

Speaker 2 (01:51:10):
When we come back, we'll give you our unsung hero.

Speaker 4 (01:51:12):
That's next on your home for the Seahawks Seattle Sports
seven to ten in Kyra News Radio ninety seven to
three FM.

Speaker 15 (01:51:17):
This this Hawk Talk Postgame, a joint presentation of Cairo
News Radio ninety seven three FM and Seattle Sports.

Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
This is Hawk Talking.

Speaker 4 (01:51:29):
Is now time for your unsung hero, who probably doesn't
lead in a category in the stats, who might get overlooked.
This is why I have the experts here, because they
don't they don't miss. They see these guys and they
show them some love. So let's go be Walt. Who's
your unsung hero?

Speaker 11 (01:51:46):
Well, you know, I was tempting to go with Sharbonnet
because he has zero catches for thirty two yards, which
I thought it was pretty cool for a running back.
But I'm not gonna go that direction. I'm gonna go
aj Barner. I liked what he did every time he
got the ball.

Speaker 12 (01:51:59):
In his hands.

Speaker 11 (01:51:59):
Felt like he's trying to run someone over and picking
up a first down. He also got that touchdown late
in the game, and we don't get to talk about
him all that much. So I'm going Aj Barner. Five catches,
thirty four yards and a touchdown, all.

Speaker 2 (01:52:11):
Right, AJ Barner, Big Ray who you got?

Speaker 10 (01:52:15):
Only because I was excited that he finally in the
last few weeks have been able to get on the field,
and every time he's touched the ball, he's done a
pretty good job with it. So I'm gonna go with
Kenny McIntosh. He had seven carries for forty nine yards
seven yards of carry, But it wasn't just the it
was the way he ran the football. Like he he
doesn't quite maybe have the breakaway speed that Canon has,

(01:52:37):
he doesn't quite have the power that Sharbony has, but
he has something combination of both, and so he's able to,
you know, get through the hole and get downfield into
the second level pretty quickly, break some tackles. So excited
to see what the future holds for him in this offense.

Speaker 9 (01:52:53):
Yeah, I'm gonna There's two guys tonight that to me
got snubbed for the Pro Bowl, and one of them
was my MVP. I think somebody else had it too,
is you know, Leonard Williams. The other one was Julian Love.
Julian had that interception, and again it was a good interception.
He read what was going on. He didn't just sliding
backpedal into you know, his flat hoo hook area. He

(01:53:16):
actually turned, ran to the sideline, knew the play, then
looked ball thrown to him. He also had three passes defense.
He was all over the board the first half, and
you know he finished with six tackles on top of
the So he's my unsung hero for the last game
of the season.

Speaker 4 (01:53:33):
I like a big Ramma ride with you. Kenny McIntosh.
It's interesting what he's done with his opportunities. He doesn't
get a lot of carries, but he has a run
or two that makes you scratch ahead and wonder why
he hasn't beginning playing time. But coaches have their reason.
But I'm glad that they might have found something in
Kenny McIntosh. I think whether Ken Walker's bag, Zach Sharvion

(01:53:55):
his back, if these three come together and actually get
a rotation in, they could be something special in that backfit.

Speaker 9 (01:54:00):
What's Sharboney's coming back.

Speaker 2 (01:54:02):
We know.

Speaker 9 (01:54:02):
I mean again, I think a lot of it. There's
been two guys drafted the last couple of years, JSN
and Charbonay that some people question was that the right pick?

Speaker 7 (01:54:12):
Right?

Speaker 9 (01:54:13):
It's turned out to be pretty good. Uh, and we
need them. But are you guys comfortable Let's say K nine,
We just say, hey, look man, we're up against the
cap guys. We don't have a lot of money in
the offseas, so there's gonna have to be some restructuring done.
Some guys are going to have to move. Just hypothetical,
would you be comfortable charbon Ay and Kenny Mack is
your two league guys going into next year off.

Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
Of what I've seen the last with three four weeks,
I think I got to be comfortable with it, even
though I'm going to be checking in on Knine because
you know he's going to have a run or two
that makes you just realize or appreciate how special he is.
But for the better of the team, right decisions have
to be made and if you can save some money,
I think I would be right with you about you,
Big Gray.

Speaker 10 (01:54:54):
Well, I just think the way they want to play
football on offense, those two dudes fit the style better.
It doesn't mean that Canon isn't a good football player,
it's just a to me, it just seems like there's
a style conundrum there where, like you know, this Canon
is more of a cutback run to daylight, you know,

(01:55:15):
maybe not always find the block, and you're gonna have
to deal with your share of minus yardage with him
because then he can maybe make a big play at
some point. And but I think the way that they
want to be on offense here, they want to be
it's almost like ball control between the tackles, downhill, physical football,
and I don't know that Knon fits that in this hypothetical.

Speaker 11 (01:55:36):
Yeah, I think Canine's a guy that you want to
have the ball twenty twenty five times a game. You know,
then then he's gonna he's gonna start breaking these long
ones that he's capable of. Charbona is the kind of
guy that, if their offense is going the way it's
going now, you want to have the ball ten to
fifteen times where he's just gonna kind of overpower a
defense and he's gonna pick you up those two three yards,
gonna run the scheme that you draw out, draw up

(01:55:59):
he's gonna hit that hole and uh, there's not gonna
be much else to it, but he can get it done,
and he's gonna he's gonna overpower you a little bit.

Speaker 12 (01:56:05):
So I would be okay with it, I really would.

Speaker 11 (01:56:08):
I think that might be what this offensive line needs,
is just a little bit of the consistency that they
know where this back is gonna.

Speaker 10 (01:56:15):
Go and availability is a big bill down you know,
yep so.

Speaker 9 (01:56:19):
And just throwing this out for you guys, I mean,
Kenny McIntosh going into this game is averaging five point
one yards per carry, Zach Charbonnay average four point two,
Kenth Walker three point seven.

Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
All right, some think about let's pause ten seconds to
give our Seattle stations a chance to identify themselves here
on Hawk Talk k.

Speaker 15 (01:56:37):
I R O seven ten AM, Seattle, k I R O, FM,
HD one and HD two, Tacoma, Seattle, the home of
the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (01:56:46):
All right, when we come back, we'll give you our
final thoughts on the season that's next in your home
for the Seahawks. Sattles Sports seven ten and KYWRA News
Radio ninety seven three FM.

Speaker 15 (01:56:54):
This Hawk Talk Postgame a joint presentation of Cairo News
Radio nine seven three FM and Seattle Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:57:04):
This is hog Talk, the last one of the season.
The Hawks in the season on a high note when
in thirty to twenty five beating the Los Angeles Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
We didn't think it was gonna end like this fellas.
We didn't think. There were times during the season where
you felt like a r this.

Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
Might be a playoff team, and then they bring it
back down to reality and then they pump you back
up again. But the last week we were watching football
and hoping and praying for help and we just didn't
get it. The Hawks, they were they're supposed to do
in that game, but when it came down to the
Green Bay and the Vikings game, you needed to win
one of those, just couldn't get it done. And then
we see the Green Bay Packers lose today to the

(01:57:40):
Chicago Bears. How crazy? Yeah, they're trying to win. How
crazy is the NFL? I think that should put some
things in perspective for people who question what's going on
over here. But I think we're feeling good about this
team rather be in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:57:54):
But end of the day, they are really are big, right, Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:57:58):
I mean I think if you had to rank all
the teams, the Seahawks would be somewhere in the middle,
which probably means they're going to beat the teams that
they probably should beat, and they're probably going to lose
to the teams that are slightly better to them. So
they're just kind of right there in the middle, and
sometimes has a good spot to be. Sometimes it's a
difficult spot to because then you got to figure out

(01:58:19):
how to you improve from the middle. Sometimes it's easier
to improve from the bottom. So I think that'll be
their challenge, you know, for this team, is figuring out
those pieces that they need. But I thought that, you know,
first year coach, a bunch of new people, a bunch
of new players doing different things, making changes, a player
retires of the season, all these different all these different

(01:58:40):
types of things that have happened. For our first year
coach to be able to respond to those things relatively
all positive ways was pretty impressive. And for them to
get the ten wins. The ten wins obviously, yes, you
want to be in the playoffs and play for the
super Bowl and all that, but also set in the foundation,
like we said earlier, the brand, the culture, all that
stuff important too. They went out they won the football game.

(01:59:02):
It was probably tougher than they thought it was going
to be, but they still won the football game. So
I'm excited, like you said, head into the off season
where we're going to draft somewhere between fifteen and eighteen
or is it settled at eighteen somewhere like that, So
hopefully there's a good quality player to add to the
team and then and then what you're going to do
in the rest of the draft, you know, like what
you know, what other pieces you're going to find that's

(01:59:23):
going to improve the team. Free agency is going to
be exciting to kind of see what they can or
cannot do, and that hopefully a lot of the focus
will be on the guards, in the guard spot and
improving that. It is the biggest need on the team.

Speaker 11 (01:59:38):
Yeah, and I think a big, big win for this
season when you look at a couple of the things. One,
you're four and two in the NFC West and that's
improvement from last year you were two and four in.

Speaker 12 (01:59:47):
The NFC West. So I like that about it.

Speaker 11 (01:59:49):
You're starting to be able to you know, you're becoming
even or even better than some of your divisional foes.
Still whipping up on the Cardinals a little bit, and
now even you got yourself the level playing field with
the Rams and the forty nine ers in one on
away games.

Speaker 12 (02:00:02):
That's pretty remarkable for a team to do.

Speaker 11 (02:00:03):
So there's a lot of good to look at this team,
Big Ray, you just said it. I think upfront is
going to be the big That's where all the focus
needs to be as far as getting better. We know
it's not going to be the same team. There's gonna
be a lot of different pieces elsewhere as well.

Speaker 12 (02:00:17):
It's never the same team.

Speaker 11 (02:00:19):
But I think that's going to be the main place
of concern for this team in the offseason.

Speaker 12 (02:00:25):
I like Gino. I think Geno's the guy.

Speaker 11 (02:00:27):
For everyone out there, you know, debating whether Gino will
be the guy or not, I think you.

Speaker 12 (02:00:31):
Have to stick with Gino.

Speaker 11 (02:00:32):
I think you have to give Gino a fair chance
under an improved offensive line. I think that's kind of
the how I'm seeing it, because today today was a
perfect example of that. When you look at how Gino played.
They were able to use a play action a little
more under center. The run game was going a little bit,
but it opens up so much more for him, and
the protection was so much better that way, and that's

(02:00:52):
what you want to want to see today. I thought
Gino played a Jared Goff type game as far as that,
that kind of the play action kind of thing like that.
So that's kind of where I see this offseason head
and defensively, I think they're fantastic. You sign Ernest Jones,
that's no brainer. That's probably the number one thing on
the offseason list for this defense. But all in all,

(02:01:15):
you have to call this season success. Any other year
you're making the playoffs. It's just unfortunate that the NFC
North was so dominant this year with the Vikings, Packers
and the Lions. And guess what, you played two of
those teams pretty tough. You played the Lions shorthanded and
you gave him a good, good run for it.

Speaker 12 (02:01:32):
Should have beat the Vikings and you let the.

Speaker 11 (02:01:34):
Packers game get away from you a little bit. So
you're right there, you're right there, ready to make the
next step. Hopefully that's you know, an eleven twelve game
team or game winning season next year, maybe even thirteen.

Speaker 12 (02:01:48):
You go along those lines.

Speaker 9 (02:01:50):
Yeah, it was a good season, it just wasn't good enough.
We tied for tenth best record in NFL with was
a six best record in the NS and that's where
we're one game at. We're the only ten win team
this year didn't make the playoffs. We're one of only
three teams that had a positive point differential that didn't

(02:02:10):
make the playoffs Cincinnati and Arizona, or the other two
Arizona because they blew out the forty nine ers this year.
I think it'll be interesting to see we're the favorites
in the West next year. I personally think we will be.
And we'll see how all this free agency plays out
and all the pieces are and a lot you know,
I'm read already about San Francisco. You know about Kittle,

(02:02:32):
hoping he comes back. They've got some free agents they're
hurting for money too. So I'm gonna go back to
my thing. I'm really optimistic, you know, to finish ten
and seven, to win six of your last eight games
to be the team. I think Minnesota just may have
taken the lead on Detroit, a team that's won fourteen
maybe fifteen games, and this all said and done, it
shows where we can be. I don't really think I

(02:02:55):
think there was three games that got away from us
that we I don't want to say should have won,
but definitely could have won. That was the Giants the
Rams in certainly Minnesota. I don't think there's one game
that we won that we should know, you know. So
to me, I'm like, okay, and I think the one
you said seven to one on the road. Man, we
just got to clean up home field advantage again and
we're back to what we're used to traveling. We're more

(02:03:17):
importantly hosting here at loom And Field for playoff games.

Speaker 2 (02:03:21):
All right, man, last one fellas last one.

Speaker 9 (02:03:25):
That's the only sure thing is I think we'll all
be back with this broadcast with a huge race. Thanks
to Tyler Lockett.

Speaker 4 (02:03:35):
There we go today's final score. Seahawks thirty, Rams twenty five.
