Speaker 1 (00:03):
No to Brett McMillan with the Panthers postgame Show presented
by Southern Star, unofficial Bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate
the spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Well, this is not how I saw.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
This day going. But I got up today. Yeah, I
don't think. I think none of us did.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
That was that?

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Hey, welcome to the North laud here for the Panthers
postgame Show presented by Southern Star and official bourbon of
the Carolina Panthers. Along with you, Gene Robinson, my Pachica
will be here for the next roun hour along with
a bunch of fans. As we're watching the late game
start and the early games finish.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Not the kind of game we hoped and expected.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
From the Carolina Panthers today as they fall to the
Dallas Cowboys thirty to fourteen.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
The Cowboys team that has struggled this year.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
But I think, guys, as we look at this one,
we hope it's one of those three steps forward and
one step back.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
But certainly not the Panthers team.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Not the way let's say the last Yeah, certainly not
the Panthers team we've seen the last five weeks.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
Not the way look you know, as let me just
be a football player.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
I thought from you know, the office line and the
defensive line that that game was one of the trenches.
Dallas Cowboys were extremely aggressive moving our defensive line off
the ball. They're getting four and a half five yards
a clip. And then on the flip side of the
flip side of it is that we couldn't stop the
onslaught of the pass rush by the Dallas Cowboys. They

(01:28):
had six seven sacks, close to seven sacks, and a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Of pressure, a lot of pressures.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
I thought in the very first beginning, we had our
first drive before Bryce Fumball like, okay, we're gonna be okay,
we're gonna be We're gonna be good.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
We're gonna survive this. No, it didn't.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
It just seemed to get worse and worse and worse.
And you know what, it just comes down to, Dallas
Cowboys play well and we didn't.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
Well.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
You talk about that opening drive, Eugene, I mean, the
Panthers looked great.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
They look absolutely great coming out of the box. It
was a drive that was.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Thirteen plays, eight minutes and twenty four seconds.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Every play during that drive was a positive.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Shay and then the Panthers got down into the red
zone and then on a it.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Was a first intent from the eighteen yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Bryce was scrambling, did a little spin move, which was great,
and then as he was tackled, he fumbled the ball.
The Panthers lost the ball, and Mike and.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
I were talking, and instead of sliding, he dove, and
that's why you end up losing the ball when the
guy was putching the ball out because of that.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
I'm sorry, no, but Mike and I were talking at
the time and have talked subsequently during the game. You
would like to have seen what would have happened, because
you hear you had a Dallas team that was really
really had nothing to play for today and lost a
real disappointing game Monday night, and you know you just
pushed him right down the field. Yes, is this a

(02:56):
team that would have quit if you know you've been
just got a team that will have laid down if he'd.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Been pushed right down the field at the beginning of
the game.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
No, I don't think the Dallas when the college boys
will lay down. But what it does mean that you
got to make those plays. That nice spin move that
Bryce did and he was running and trying to go
ahead and make something happen.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I totally get it. Guy punched out the ball.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
That's just a good defensive play by the by the
defendive linebacker. However, if you make that play, you put
the defense in a hole and you put the defense like, oh, we.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Got to worry about this guy. We got to worry
about this guy.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Instead, they got confidence and more confidence as a game.
War Or went on saying, Oh, we don't have to
worry about Bryce because no, I we're collapsing the offensive line.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
The line is in his face.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
He's trying to you know, fight, you know, trying to
find out where he can throw the ball. The receivers
not even catching the ball too as well, and so
f that step.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I'm going to dude, this is gonna be a tough game.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
It's gonna be a tough game offensively to get some
traction because at all phases, whether it's a quarterback, offensive line,
and at the receiver, it's not happening. That interception by
the very first place you want to went to theeling.
Everybody gonna say, Bryceton interception.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
No he didn't.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
They look to the cat that I thought he had
an opportunity to catch it, it gets bad in a
way and the linebacker catches it. And so from that standpoint,
I'm like, I don't blame Bryce on that one. I
don't really blame dealing that one out. It's just a
good play. But you got to be able to make
those plays when they come to your side. The catch
is that you got to make them because you put
the defense in a hole, and that's what you want

(04:30):
to do when you're trying to get up on top
of a team. And I think you're right. I think
it would have somewhere, but it didn't end on that
drive with that.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Fumble and Mike, you were pushing the Dallas defense down
the field. Yeah, instead, you get no points on the board, Right,
you give the Dallas defense a chance to get off
the field and make some adjustments.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Right, And you know they they were able to, you know,
not on that next ensuing series, but a little bit
later they got to go down and score and then they.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Get the field goal.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Now, all of a sudden, they're starting to feel pretty
good about themselves. You know, this Dallas team. I mean, yeah,
the record coming in wasn't great, but this is a
team was three straight twelve win seasons. Yes, they were
a team that was picked to uh, you know, to
be a contender for the Super Bowl. So it's not
like a bunch of bums.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
Came in here.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I mean, this is no, no, no, no.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
You know, now they're not playing is up to their
ability maybe this season, but they've done double a bunch
of injuries, you know. I know, Michael Parsons being back
has been helpful. And Brad Scham was on with Zogie
on the pregame show, and I knew something was My
first inclination was, oh it was Brad Scham was like, oh, yeah,
Michael Parsons one hundred percent. It's like, you'd rather see
Michael Parsons out then.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Michael Parsons is a beast.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
I don't care on anybody seem He's just one of
those guys that if he gets on the outside technique
and you could tell he gave equanto anybody on the outside.
They gave him a lot of trouble on the outside,
and that it's called a wide nine technique when he's out.
A little bit further was you can really reach them
with your arm. You have to reach them with kicksteps
in the back with the speed of Michael Parsons and
just to get off use his hands. My goodness, it

(05:57):
was just too much for Equanta to go ahead and handle.
And now your quarterback has to get up in the pocket.
Now he's fighting and all this stuff. And instead of looking
down the field, now your quarterback's looking for those little
pockets where do I need to run and those those
holes that he was looking for just to menace immediately
because of the the Dallas Cowboys defense.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
An you think about the rush, it wow, Dallas put on.
I mean, Bryce had been doing a good job about
getting the ball out about what like three four seconds,
But yes, they sped up the Panthers. They messed up
the Panthers timing, and I think that's kind of what
what kind of went things went.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Hey, yeah, and then we were almost relegated, particularly towards
the end of the game. We're relegated to throwing that
ball like laterally like this one before, and set it
down downfield.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
That's what we were reduced to.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
And that was because of the pressure and how quickly
the Dallas Cowboys got on top of the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
I mean, just the blisters and things that they were doing.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
They were blistering, and they were like, okay, we could
just do with a four man rush, and now they're
doing it with a four man rush. And so they
put a lot of pressure on the Carolina Panthers and
they went man to man that touched down by Coker.
They were and man and man because they've been blissing
all day long. We came an empty backfield. We said, hey,
let's take a shot down the field. It's a shot
down the field. Now, Bryce, throw the ball a little

(07:13):
bit deeper. I don't want the receiver waiting for the ball.
You have to go and throw the ball. Throw a
little bit sooner than that. But it worked in our favor,
and so we had our chances, but they were diminished quickly.
And if I'm being honest, man Dallas Cowboys was just
a little bit too strong, a little bit too much.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Well, you felt like the Panthers had a chance to
get the log touchdown, have the ball first in the
second half, and then the first play in the second half,
Bryce fumbles the ball, Dallas gets it, and at that
point the third quarter was an absolute disaster for the Panthers.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
I know that came up in the very first part
and then we got a sack and had to give
it the ball.

Speaker 7 (07:50):
That might be the worst fifteen minutes of football we've seen.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Absolute was a sack fumble, a sack fumball, sack fumble. Yeah,
my goodness. You don't want to start that way coming
out and you know that you're going to get the
ball a half time.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
The Panthers in the third quarter gave up four sacks
in ten plays, which includes punts. They got out gained
in the third quarter one hundred and sixty to minus five.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Yeah, time of possession was ten oh five to four.
Fifty five plays they ran seventeen to seven.

Speaker 7 (08:22):
So that was the game.

Speaker 6 (08:23):
There you go, that's the game right there.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Oh, we got a lot coming your way over the
scores from the early games. We'll also hear from the
head coach. Let him talk about what happened today from
his perspective.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
A lot coming your way.

Speaker 4 (08:33):

the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas. There's a lot of.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Christmas spirit in the room here. I do saw Christmas
some sparkly sweaters. I saw a guy walking by with
the with Christmas lights on his on his overalls.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, very nice, I.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Know, Michelle jeff Ovo on the corner. It got the
a little the dazzled thing going on right now.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
That's right out here. Yeah go that'bsolutely very nice. The
Christmas spirit is alive and well, yes it is.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
Even though the Panthers didn't deliver today thirty to fourteen
the final. The Cowboys went at the Cowboy fans with
the with the Cowboy Christmas hats. They're happy. But yeah,
not a great day for the Carolina Panthers. We'll let
you know what else happened in the National Football League
in the early games Today, the PORST Game Scoreboard brought
to you by the North count of Education Lottery and
Digital Instance. It's a whole new way to win mobile

(09:35):
games and loads of real cash prizes registered today to
play Digital Instance. So Mike Pachico a way off from
the early.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Games, all right, Kansas City on the Road beats Cleveland
twenty one to two seven. Patrick Mahomes nineteen of thirty
eight hundred and fifty nine yards had two touchdowns. So
Kansas City now thirteen and one on the year. Houston
at home beats Miami twenty to twelve.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
CJ.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Stroud through for twenty at eighteen of twenty six hundred
and thirty one yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. The Jets
go on the road they pick up their fourth win.
So Aaron Rodgers sixteen to thirty in that game, two
hundred and eighty nine yards passing three touchdowns. Jayden Daniels
leads the Commanders over the Saints twenty to nineteen and
the Caesars Super Dome.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
So the Saints.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Scored with no time left, and I saw the replay
they went for two and did not get it.

Speaker 7 (10:24):
Wow, no good, no good, No soup for you, those
soap for you.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
So the no bringing the Saints in, no marching the
Saints in the.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Yeah, they replaced the first quarterback, cham Ratler went in.

Speaker 7 (10:38):
But they just came up a little bit short. Yeah,
it just came up a little bit short.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Baltimore on the road beats the Giants thirty five to fourteen.
Derrek Henry no touchdown, sixty seven yards on the ground.
But how about Lamar Jackson twenty one of twenty five
Eugene two hundred nine yards in the year, five touchdowns,
no intercessions.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
I still think he's one of the best quarterbacks in
the league, and when he's on, he is absolutely the
sensational NASA team.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I think you need to watch out. If I have
some will continue.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Did I see something that Dion's kid is posting stuff
on the Internet or posting stuff on X with himself
and the Giants logo?

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Oh wow, oh, okay, okay, well Giants are like giants
or two and whatever.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Now, so well, that's like the reverse Peyton Manning, right,
I know, exactly, yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
With the Giants hold off for ars Manning though I'm
just asking. It's saying, just saying actually even starting right now.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
I know.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Well yeah, but dark old Joe, Well, what's the word
Deon's kid in New York?

Speaker 7 (11:34):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Cincinnati beats Tennessee thirty seven to twenty seven yard borrow
through for two and seventy one yards, had two picks,
but through for three touchdowns. At the early games, Tampa
Bay has a touchdown over the Chargers. That's in Los
Angeles about that's really about eleven minutes ago in the
first quarter. Otherwise, no score in New England at Arizona,
Indianapolis at Denver. How about this game? Buffalo and Detroit

(11:57):
will be keeping an eye on that, Yes, we will
throughout the That could be a Super Bowl matchup ten
and three Buffalo against twelve and one De Trent. I
think I saw something today or heard something on the
pregame show. This is the best matchup this late since
like the real team merger. Yeah, okay, two teams with
these good yeah, so that's gonna be one we're going
to keep an eye on. Also, Pittsburgh is at Philadelphia

(12:18):
Sunday night. Tonight, it'll be Green Bay at Seattle.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Ufour two of your teams.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
And then we have two Monday night games at eight
o'clock tomorrow, Chicago at Minnesota, and then Atlanta is at
Las Vegas.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Don't sleep on Chicago. I know Minnesota needs to win
that game, but don't sleep on Chicago.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
I'm just saying, well, I see Richardson just ran in
and Anthony Richardson just scored for Indianapolis as they take
the lead on the Broncos, and the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Is still in the playoff hunt in the AFC.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Yes, I know.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
I'll tell you what I remember when when I was
playing and you know that you're in a playoff hunt,
it just it just does something to you.

Speaker 7 (12:54):
I mean, you give your at extra ste.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
The practice a little bit differently.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
You just you think differently because you know that you
have a chance and the opportunity to possibly go to
the super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Well you need that this time of year too, don't you.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Absolutely you need something that continual motivation too. I mean,
and plus everybody wants to get towlosed in November December.
I mean, if you win in November December, you almost
kind of guarantee your ticket to go ahead and get
into the playoffs. And so we know it is really
paramount that you win during this time. These teams are
gonna be fighting and clawed and scratched and try to
go ahead, and he gotta win because if they but

(13:27):
he gotta win in December and and well in December
right now, that's we know it punches your ticket.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
You guys talk about you know, you talk about it.
A lot of people are looking at the Lions and
Bill's game as a positive Super Bowl preview. Then you
got the Philadelphia Pittsburgh game, Yeah, which is you know,
the battle for Pennsylvania.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
Both those teams in the first place right there.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
And don't forget Kansas City. Man, I'm just saying that
team has been a throwing in every one side. When
he got Patrick Mahomes, he's like Brady, He's like Montana
in my opinion, he's just that guy.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
They got the horse.

Speaker 7 (13:59):
That's a d let it't know how to do themselves.
They won by two touchdowns today.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
Well that's right.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
They didn't need any kind of any like last second
heroics al right.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
So still ahead, we'll have some highlights of today's ball game.
We'll also hear from the guys.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
In the booth.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
We'll hear from a Niche and Jake was up there
today and also Jim. We'll hear from them, get their
final thoughts down the road. We'll hear from the head coach,
and go over today's stats as well. So stay with
us on the Carolina Panthers postgame Show. You're listening to
Panthers Football presented by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
He's the postgame show presently by Southern Star, unofficial bourbon
of the Carolina Panthers. Celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 8 (14:40):
So Red gifts Straight up the Middle touchdown, Touchdown.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Carolina Reaction and analysis to today's game with special guests,
highlights and updates from around the league.

Speaker 8 (14:51):
Complete touchdown, right side, next the catch, touchdown Panthers Now
what about it?

Speaker 9 (14:58):
Now?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
What no breadfit?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Tiling with the Panthers postgame show exclusively on the Carolina
Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Hey, we're walking back to the North Lounge here back
of America Stadium. Panthers fall to the Cowboys today, thirty
to fourteen. The finals score. Four turnovers by the Panthers
today and that led to ten that Cowboys points and
that'll hurt you any day of the work. Actually no, sorry, yeah,
ten Cowboy points. That will hurt you any day.

Speaker 6 (15:28):
Of the week.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
And the big thing about those turnovers, they were just
momentum killers. I mean they just absolutely stopped the momentum
and then they gave momentum to the Dallas Cowboys. I mean,
just the enthusiasm of an interception it just incites the
entire defense, or the enthusiasm of a fumble when you're
moving down getting in the red zone and you're like, oh,
there's a fumble. It just ignites your side, the bench

(15:51):
and whatnot, and so it gives up out the office
and then it gives up above the offense and a
good position and with good feelings. So this was a
really tough game because the turnovers really helped and you
aided to the win for the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
They just got momentum and they kept the momentum.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Well, let's go over some of the highlights of today's
ball game as we present the Panthers postgame show presented
by Southern Star and official Burbon of the Carolina Panthers
celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas. As we talked about earlier,
the Panthers gave Dallas the ball. First, Dallas did get
a first down, but then the one sack that the
Panthers had today really ended that Dallas drive. Panthers got

(16:28):
the ball at their own thirteen went on this long drive.
It was a drive. Things covered thirteen plays, eight twenty four.
They got down to the eighteen yard line. But that's
when this happened.

Speaker 8 (16:45):
Every sight ends to that side and then you bring
Lewis over from a pistol set Tompkins goes wide left.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Here's the snap.

Speaker 8 (16:51):
Young play fake, rolling to his left, looking up the field.
Parsons almost had him. Young spun away from Parsons, dives
across the fifteen, lost the ball at the end of
the play, it's a fumble and it's recovered by Dallas
at the fourteen yard line.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
So no points after that long drive, time consuming. Every
play during that drive had positive yards. Yeah, and it
was a really good and they're getting great protection. Bryce
Young was getting great protection during that drive too.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
And you felt that we had a chance, and we
felt like we looked like what we've been looking like
against Kansas City and what we looked like against Tampa Bay.
We had that momentum, you know, it was so encouraging.
And so they have that mishap at that time. I
know that Bryce, I mean, I know it's a fumble,
but you got to give the deepest credit because the
linebacker kind of pushed the ball out. So, I mean,

(17:43):
whenever we see fumbles, it's not like in the back
of be like, oh we fumbled.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
No, there's a defensive guy.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
And our job defensively is always how do we take
the ball from him. So they work on punching the
ball out, hitting and ripping.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
You see a lot of that.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
You saw a lot of it by the Carolina Panphis
as well, So yeah, that really hurt us.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Well, the Cowboys only went three and out, so it
was one of those turnovers that we talked about. It
was not an opportunity turnover, it was a prevention turnovers.
So the Panthers got the ball back unable to do
anything with it, and then the Cowboys started moving the
ball and they went on a nice drive themselves. It
took ten plays and finished with Well, we've seen this
guy in the enzone.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
A bunch.

Speaker 8 (18:25):
Ceedee Lamb of motion. Man trips to the right, rushes
in the gun down all back in there off his
left hip. Here's the snap. Rush Bookie throws right side
end zone for Lamb. Dived catch is made for a
touchdown front right corner of the end zone.

Speaker 9 (18:43):
Dallas takes a six and hing lead.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
All right, they made it ten to nothing and right
at the end of the half. The Panthers did create
a turnover much similar to the Panthers turnover earlier in
the game.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
It was in the red zone.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Cooper Rush fumbled the snap, Panthers recovered. And then the
next play after that, Bryce looked deep.

Speaker 8 (19:04):
Forty two seconds to go pack the ball and throw
seventeen the empty it out yondos.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Of the guns.

Speaker 8 (19:10):
Poor man rush.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Rice throws deep down plays over here, right open.

Speaker 9 (19:14):
He's got the forty five.

Speaker 8 (19:16):
He's got midfield down the right sideline, like Coker hated
three yards for the store.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Wait, what's Coker got the ball? Mike, he turned on
the afterburners. Man, he was gone.

Speaker 7 (19:27):
He sure didn't.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
You know.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
One of the knocks about him early on in his
career at holy Cross was maybe not having the Jets.
But he certainly that's something you know, he was working
on in the in the you know, in the draft process.

Speaker 7 (19:38):
He was signed as a free.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Agent, and he just man, when that kid's on the field,
you gen, he just makes plays.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
He makes a lot of players. I'm glad to see
him on the feel. They came out of an empty backfield, said,
they have three receivers on my right hand eye too,
to my left there's no back, and also the quarterback
and the gun he draws back.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
There ain't a man and man defense.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
And so when one of the guys let him go,
He's the only person can get him is a free safety.
In the free safety, I've been in that position. You
gotta run a long way. All Bryce has to do
is put the ball out there because you can run
underneath it and now just outrun the opponent. And he
did exactly that. But what I what I like about
that play has gotten back into the mix. It got

(20:16):
us back into the frame like, okay, if we hold
him again and score again when we're.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Back at it. Well, the Panthers got the ball to
start the second half. Man, oh wow, first play.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
Here's what happened.

Speaker 8 (20:34):
Pistol set with Hubbards and running back Thompson or rather Tompkins.
The motion man Yo to throw in the pocket and
take him down. The ball comes out, fumble is Dallas football.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
It is osa o diggy sewa.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
Hell yeah it was.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
It was a sack bubble and that just turned things around.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
This is the Christmas time, so we think of Dickens
and the Christmas story, but really was, if I may paraphrase,
a tail of two halves.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Yeah, exactly was, And that absolutely turned the game around.
The Panthers did get one more touchdown and that ball game,
and that was courtesy of mister Bryce Young's legs.

Speaker 8 (21:19):
Second and goal from the six. Don't play up the
drive Young again and the gun covered off as left him.
Here's the staff. Bryce looking right, rolls right. Oh, didn't
see a shadowing him. Young will run and into the
end zone untouched along the right side. It's twenty seven
to thirteen. Bryce Young with his second rushing touchdown.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Of the season.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
That's the last time the Panthers could score. They threw
an interception after that. It was an underthrow by Bryce Young.
He had feeling open but couldn't connect on it. Final
score thirty to fourteen.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
The Panthers fall to the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
And I think the biggest thing that we really haven't
touched upon yet either is the panthers inability to get
a running game going.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
I know, and that's one of the strongest parts of
what we've been able to do.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
We weren't able to run the ball effectively.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
I know.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
They got into an eight man box.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
That means this eight guys light of scrimmage, then man
and man coverage. So I totally get it. Today they
were saying we're going to stop the run. Yep, for
make Bryce with his arm, and not only that, they
stop the run, but they did something a little bit
better because every time d dropped back, he had a
Dallas cowboy in his face.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
How about that third was exactly he was under.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
He was harassed in the entire third quarter and the
fourth quarter, if you will. So it was very difficult
for us to run or to pass because of the sacks.
There were six sacks by the Dallas Cowboys, and they got.

Speaker 7 (22:43):
After it and they four came that third quarter.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Right, Yes, Yeah, Michael Parson has been on the outside.
He's he's just a beast and you and you got
to account for him. You just have to account for him.
So this was a really tough game for us not
to play our best.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Well, and I look at it this way too, as
we kind of kind of alluded to a little bit
in the first segment. But you know, Dallas comes in
as a wounded animal. That's sometimes the worst animal to
face because it's a team that had expectations. They haven't
matched those expectations. There's all sorts of swirl about. You know,
the head coach, his contractor is up, like McCarthy. I'm
sure Mike Zero was tired of hearing about his defense.
The coordinator tired about hiring his defense is underperformed and

(23:18):
today was kind of the perfect storm for them against
the Panthers.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
Yeah, but here's let me just be on flip side
of that is that we played so well Kansas City,
we played so well, we uh to Tampa Bay, we
played so well at the Eagles spot. Even though we
lost those games, we played so well. We didn't play
nearly to the ability that we could play, nearly to
the ability we can play.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
And our offensive line didn't block nearly.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
As well as they blocked against Kansas City, as against
against Tampa Bay, against Philadelphia. So I'm saying we didn't
play our best game and then Dallas took advantage of it.

Speaker 7 (23:51):
And it was talked about too. Brett and I talked
about it at the time.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
You know, you wonder if that first series goes a
different way, how does that change the complexion.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
Of the game, And would definitely change a complexity the
game because you put a stool on the board. Now
you send us a message of defense. We can hold
a thirteen minute drive and walk it all down down
your throat and that's what we will setting up. But
that didn't materialize because of the fumble.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
All right, still ahead, we'll hear from the head coach,
Dave Canals with the final thoughts from Jim and Jake
and a niche show. Stay with us here on the
Carolina Panthers Postgame Show on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network. Hey,
welcome back to the North Lounge here at Back of
America Stadium. It's the Panthers Postgame Show presented by Southern

(24:34):
Star and Official Burbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the
Spirit of the Carolina As along with Mike Pachico, Eugene Robinson,
and I'm Brett mcbellan.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Glad to have you with us.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
A great crowd here head the North Lounge as the
Panthers fall to the Cowboys thirty to fourteen.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Pot of folks getting ready.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
For the Christmas season, A lot of very festive folks
here at the lounge today. Hey, we're ready to start
the Panthers' locker room show, brought to you by Southern
Star and Official Burbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate these
Spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Are going to head back to.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
The booth where the guys have caught up with one
of the top receivers.

Speaker 10 (25:05):
Today Haap is Rookney wide receiver Jalen Cocher joining us
now for a four catch, one hundred and ten yard day,
including the eighty three yard touchdown. We're looking for some
happy things to talk about, Jayalens. We're gonna start with that,
the eighty three yard touchdown. You guys get the ball
back off the turnover there. You talk about that play
and how you're able to get behind the Cowboys defense
to get that big score before halftime.

Speaker 11 (25:26):
Yeah, I mean a little bit of a broken coverage.
It seemed like, you know, the safety state in the
middle of the field, the corner didn't bail, look like
they were trying to get to like a Cover three
or something, and I just happened to be in the
right spot. Bryce saw me, and you know, as soon
as you catch it, you know you want to are
You're thinking, is don't get caught?

Speaker 8 (25:43):
Jalen Anish here, first one hundred yard game in the NFL.

Speaker 9 (25:47):
What does that mean to you?

Speaker 7 (25:48):
That's huge?

Speaker 11 (25:49):
I mean, especially you know, coming back from injury, you know,
trying to you know, make make an impact on this team.
I feel like, you know, it's a blessing. I'm so
grateful to be on this team to you know, have
these opportunities, you know, have a great staff, you know,
working me and getting me back.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
It's awesome, It really.

Speaker 6 (26:04):
Is, Jalen.

Speaker 8 (26:05):
Steve Smith told me you were a confident guy. But
being an undrafted rookie and having the impact you've had
this year, what has that taught you?

Speaker 11 (26:14):
Yeah, I mean I feel like it's just, you know,
everyone's got a shot. You know, I always said it.
You know, I was under recruited, you know, went to
FCI school, you know, but if you're if you're good enough,
they're gonna find you. And those opportunities delivered to you
got to make the most of it. So that's kind
of the mindset I take into every game, you know,
just whenever I whenever I have an opportunity, just complete it.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
Jalen, this is Jake Dillome.

Speaker 12 (26:36):
My question is this, and I asked our director of
college scouting this. At halftime, you're six foot three, you're
two hundred and thirteen pounds. You broke every single record
at your college for receptions. You catch the ball with
your hands, not with your body. You can jump out
of a gym. How in the hell did you not
get drafted.

Speaker 11 (26:55):
Yeah, you know, I'm really not sure.

Speaker 12 (26:58):
But yeah I'm not either. Like I played fifteen years
in the National Football League. I watch receivers. You're an
undrafted rookie free agent from a small school, you run
routes better than ten year veterans, you know how, you're
a quarterback friendly and you catch the ball with your hands.

Speaker 9 (27:11):
It just blows my mind.

Speaker 11 (27:13):
Yeah, you know, I feel like it's just it's just
gonna make the story a little bit better.

Speaker 9 (27:16):
That's what I love to hear. Jalen.

Speaker 10 (27:18):
Don't say it on the air, but if there's more
of you at holy Cross we need to know about
for next year, please pass that on to the scouting department.

Speaker 9 (27:26):
I will thank you, sir, good talking with you. Thanks
Jalen Coker.

Speaker 10 (27:29):
There, humble guy too for catch his one hundred and
ten yards add a touchdown, big one today, but he
obviously would prefer to have the win today, but that
was not the case. Cowboys win thirty fourteen. Back down
the hall we go with Breton michae and.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Eugen Well and there's a guy who's been banged up
a little bit, and we're gonna give him a hardest
working player in The game presented by sun Belt Rentals,
the official rental equipment partner of the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
You know sometimes has overridden about being a draft choice
in an undrafted I know what. I'm undrafted guy, so
I understand what that's like. But it doesn't diminish your
ability to play. It doesn't diminish what you're able to do.
And then football is really about confidence me against you.
I mean some people are scared of running backs. Oh
don't want to hit Derrick Henry, he's too big. Well,

(28:12):
I never thought about that. Whether he's Dereck Henry or
Peterson or you know, Earl Campbell, it doesn't matter. I'm like,
that doesn't matter. You got to just go out there
and play in the game that you love. That Coca
has been playing eph since he was a kid. It's
so today, So I don't care that he's not drafted.
I know one thing, I want to get to rock
to Coca because he gonna put some work in.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
And I think also too right, it's fundamentals. I mean,
he catches with his hands exactly, he knows routes. I mean,
I don't care what level of football, whether it's pee wee,
high school college. If you're in the right spot when
you're supposed to be in the right spot, more often
than not, good things are gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
This absolutely, and it's a confidence thing because he's not
afraid of the big stage. In the big moment, you'll
be surprised. A lot of guys get out there and
you can say, Hey, you're going up against Dion Sanders,
who you're going against, Jerry Rice, going to business guy
right here, and you can like, oh man, there's too
big a moment for me. Some some guys don't even care.
They look, if you beat me, beat me again, I

(29:07):
don't care. Let me see what's gonna happen. And they
want to test their ability against your ability. So I
like the fact that Cocher is so confident and he
knows who he is and he knows that.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Throw me the ball. Bryce, Uh, Bryce, I'm gonna go
ahead and put some work and.

Speaker 7 (29:21):
I'll take a guy with heart and he died, you
know that.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
I mean, that's the one thing analytics can't No, you
can't analytic that.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
No, And you know everybody gets all measurement. Oh the
guy is six ' four two point fifty. I don't
care it didn't matter. You got to beat that guy
across the line of scrimmage with from you. That's that's
what comes out to football is an individual game where
you have to beat the guy across from you. And
if you're able to do that successfully, yep. And I
don't care how you figure it out to do it, man,

(29:48):
you can be successful.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Skill and want to you know that's right. Hey, I
want to talk just briefly. You talked about hitting guys hard.

Speaker 9 (29:55):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
There was an.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Interesting play, yeah, very controversial play the first half of
this ball.

Speaker 6 (30:01):
Yes, it was past.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
The CD lamb and he's he's in the middle of
the field, wide open and Xavier Woods he caught the ball,
Xavier Woods let him up, he put shoulder on him
and the official called him for unnecessary roughness. Now my
question is it's sitting there in the press box and wait,
wait a minute.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Are you not allowed to hit the guy when he
catches the ball.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
I mean he had him hit him hard, but he
hit him with his shoulder and the official called him
a necessary roughnesst.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Greg Olsen was in the booth today. What easy and
greg Olsen.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Said, if you're not allowed to if you're going to
call that illegal. Then we may as well just let
the guy catch the ball, let him touch the.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Ball, and go ahead and just tag him and put
some flag footballs on him and grab a flag. Look,
you should be able to hit the dew and you
hit a man on his shoulder. If I go shoulder
and shoulder with you, it's cool. If I took my
shoulder in the head, I get it, that could be
a foul. But it went from shoulder to shoulder. The
fact that it was violent. He stopped his momentum and
he went backwards. Well, that's what you supposed to do.

(30:57):
I'm supposed to go ahead him put that thing.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
On your baby.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
That's what I'm supposed to do if I let up.
All right, I'll tell you what. Here's the converse of that.
You go ahead and let up, and let a receiver
who's running full speed hit you and you let up,
he's gonna knock the crap out of you.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
They should throw a.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
Flag on that because he's doing the reverse. So you
gotta go ahead and do your best. And I'm thinking
the referencerees you made a bad decision. And when you
look on your film and you go back and y'all
y'all get graded on that stuff. You gonna realize that
that was a shoulder to shoulder hit and it was
legal as all get out.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
It was legal.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
In fact, you know that's a bunch of stuff. Instead
of getting a letter in his locker, he should get
a check for seven thousand dollars, say, hey, we made
a mistake.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
Oh no, here's a fun thing about those lines. You're
gonna get that fighting right in your locker. They're gonna
take it out to check the next day. So it's
coming out to check, all right, it's coming out to check.
But Xavier, there was nothing that you thought. It was
nothing that you did wrong.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
You. I thought you made the right decision.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Let's put us back in the day Jack Tatum said,
when it would come and hit you, and they would
do it like a laryat right, hit you with a
forum in the face.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Dude, I mean.

Speaker 7 (32:06):
Those guys, wouldn't they do well?

Speaker 3 (32:08):
If you account for the money that they made back
then they would have had negative money.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
If I if I've got if I would hit people
the way I was hitting people back in nineteen eighty
five to nineteen ninety ninety six, I'm fine a bit
because you can't.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
I can't hit you in a face like that if
we used to.

Speaker 6 (32:24):
Yeah, well.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Ceedee lamb six pounds.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
He catches that ball, he's going to lower his shoulder
and he's gonna pole over a defensive back first opportunity
he gets because he's got that ball.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Exactly, And nobody off accounts for this too.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
When a running back is running and officer back is
coming up, the running back typically lowers his head and
hits you right in the face. Nobody ever says, hey,
the defensive backs if you got ran over.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
They don't throw a flag on the running back.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
They think he's protected himself, so they don't put They
don't call it both ways. I'm venting. I know i'm vncing.
I know I'm hitting. But that was not a bad hit.
I would that was not a bad hit. That was
a good hit.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
I agree one hundred percent if shoulder with his shoulder
didn't hit his head. And yeah, if you're gonna let
the guy catch, that's the thing. Your answer is, let
the guy catch the ball and run. Yeah no, no,
I let you catch the ball and run. And if
you're getting I'm gonna hit you on the sideline too.
But I'm hit you.

Speaker 7 (33:19):
Yeah, we didn't.

Speaker 6 (33:21):
We need to go to if we're gonna do that
flag flight football.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
That's right, that's like, although you can make the argument
today was flag football because the the Cowboys had fourteen
penalties and the Panthers had eight.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
Yes, wow, that had a different kind of flag. Yeah. Yeah,
there were a lot of flags today.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
All right, Hey, before we take a break, we're gonna
pause ten seconds to take the dutification. It's the Carolina
Panthers Radio Network. When we come back, well still here
from the head coach. We'll also get the final thoughts
from Jim and.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
A Niche and Jake. So stay with us.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
You're listening to Panthers Football pers and have by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Back to the Panthers postgame show, presemly by Southern Star
unofficial bourbon of the Carol I know pan theories celebrate
the spirit of in Carolinas.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
Hey, we're here at the North Lounge back of America
Stadium'm glad to have you with us along with the
Gene Robinson and Brett McMillan. I am no I Brett mcgillan,
I think I just got hit hard. Just happened, no
telling let's see. Let's go ahead and go ahead and
go through some of the stats from today's ball game.

(34:24):
Bryce Young, he was nineteen of twenty eighth to day
for two hundred and nineteen yards.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
He had an interception.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
He had had two interceptions, one touchdown, and two fumbles
during the game Cuba, Hubbard only ten carries on the
day for thirty two yards.

Speaker 6 (34:38):
Not the kind of day that we.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Come to expect from Cuba, and most of those yards
he got were during that opening drive. He had twenty
two of those yards during the opening drive. A Boon
his first appearance, had two carries for fourteen yards. Cocher,
as we talked about, four catches one hundred and ten yards,
included the eighty three yard touchdown. Feeling had five catches
for fifty one yard. Moore had two for nineteen. Hubbard

(35:02):
had four for seventeen, and a lot of those came
during that opening drive as well. Tremble had two for
fifteen and then they only had one sack, did the Panthers,
and that was by J. C. Horn and that was
on the Cowboys opening possession.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Mike, what you got, well, you know, some of these
numbers a little skewed as we would expect for Dallas
dated twenty four first downs, eight more than the Panthers.
One number that we like to kind of highlight here
every show third down percentage Cowboys. Cowboys were fifty percent.

Speaker 5 (35:30):
They were incredible with that. I mean, hey, Cooper rushed it.
You gotta give him credit. He did an amazing job.
Amazing job. They kept the ball and they converted on
third down when you need to convert, and he did
a great.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Job of it.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Panthers though, three of eleven twenty seven percent total yards
four ten to two thirty five. This is the big
number for me. Panthers weren't able to establish the rushing game.
They only had sixty yards rushing. But Dallas and you
mentioned the individual numbers two to eleven total team rushing yards,
and that to me is one of the big stories.
They were able to establish the run and the Panthers

(36:03):
were not.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
You got to give the the Dallas Cowboys offensive line
a lot of credit. They they were taking guys who
weighed three hundred pounds and would place them in the
linebacker's lap. They were doing a great job of pushing
guys off the ball and now on the running back
down them all he's doing is like, let me pick
a hole here. They would do some stuff where that

(36:24):
he's looking on the cutback and saying, oh, I can
go to my right hand side. He cuts back, he
picks up another six seven, eight yards because now the
safety has to come up and make that tackle. So
I thought it was one in the trenches by the
Dallas Cowboys. Their offensive line played better than our defensive
line and they pushed you off the ball. That's the
plain bare knuckle, you know, you know Rita's digest. They

(36:47):
were just better to offensively against our defense.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
And it showed because they possessed the ball a lot more.
They had thirty three, almost thirty four minutes to twenty
six for the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
Yeah, think about it after, you know, after the Panthers
opening drive, it was like eight to three.

Speaker 6 (37:02):
Yeah, yeah, that was that was the opening drive.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
So it flipped big time after that funnel flip to
this injury report brought to you by a Trim Health.
You deserve to live your best life and Atrium Health
is here to help. The only player that went out
that did not come back in it was Xavier Leaguet.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
He had a groin injury.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
Everybody else that left the field and went into the
tent came back out and continued to play.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
You know, and le Good had a look.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
They did a couple of reverses with him, like some
speech stuff and whatnot, and he had a chance when
he cut back. I thought he had a chance to
actually cut the ball back up inside. And he decided
to make a little cut and go to the outside.
You know, I'm not it's not a bad idea, but
I thought there was more room to be had inside.
I think when he watches the film, he's gonna go
like this, Man, if I make that cut, I'm gonna

(37:47):
pick up another seven, eight nine yards or maybe brick
a tackle and be.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
Going to the house.

Speaker 5 (37:51):
And so, you know, I know it's hindsight, I totally
get it, but I thought he could have made a
different decision when it was happening in real time, and
it just felt like, Man, he cuts me this, I
think he's gonna pick up more than just a first down.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
He's gonna get He's gonna get some yards.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
You know.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
There was one time the Panthers had it was like
third of a mile and Bryce did an amazing escape
job and ran out and he almost he got back
to the line of scrimmage and then chucked the ball
down field and there were a couple of people around
us in the press box. That kind of went, oh,
he should have kept running, but there was no way
he was. There were a couple of guys between him

(38:26):
and there. He was still, you know, fifteen yards short
of the first down marker, and there were still a
couple of guys there. He made a beautiful pass down field,
but unfortunately it just it kind of tailed off a
little bit and took Coker.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
I think it was. It was it was execut look
at and here it is.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
I thought that.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
The only thing that I thought technically he did something
wrong is I thought he should have threw it more
in the field of play and not on the field,
not on the outside. But the fact that he's he's
running to his left hand side, the ball is going
to travel like the way it traveled to the right
to left because he's running that direction.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
It's hard.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
You got to square your shoulders and throw that boss,
so it's hard to get something on it. And so
I was like, all right, that's a good play, but
I'm expecting to tell all But if he throws it inside.
I think Legott has a better chance of catching that ball.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
And you know, we caught the wall.

Speaker 7 (39:13):
You just didn't catch him.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
He didn't catching the bolls. Yeah, so I thought he
had a better chance, so.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
Throw They had to throw it over a guy too,
So yeah, that's two feet over to the right.

Speaker 7 (39:22):
It said, beautiful plower exactly.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
And that's that's the only thing I was like, Man,
I wish you would have thrown the ball back to
more to the inside, you know. But you know what,
I can't suckond guess your brice. I mean to get
out of that little that little uh squirm or whatever
it was, that little mess of people, and you got
out of that.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
I'm surprised you even got out of that.

Speaker 6 (39:41):
Yeah, it was, it was. It was an amazing escape.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
All right.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
Still ahead, we'll hear for the head coach, get the
final thoughts of Jim Aniche and Jake So stay with
us on the Carolina.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
And welcome back to this half this post game show,
presented by Southern Started Official Verbo of the Carolina Panthers,
celebrate the spirit of the Carolina's coming to you from
the North Lounge and the fifth quarter here at Bank
of America. Say yes, sir, we're going back to the
booth now where Jim Aniche and Jacob caught up with
the coach.

Speaker 9 (40:13):
All right, guys, thanks to welcome back.

Speaker 10 (40:14):
We're joined by the coach, Dave Canals now following the
thirty to fourteen outcome against the Dallas Cowboys today and coach,
obviously a couple of things and categories could be pointed
to there, but four turnovers obviously huge, especially that long
drive in the first quarter to not come away with
any points there. But what were some of the bigger
things you were looking at today?

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Yeah, I think you hit it.

Speaker 13 (40:35):
You know, it starts with the ball, and anytime that
you turn the ball over like that, you know, the defense,
you know, had to respond to some pretty difficult situations
and they got ten points off of turnovers today, which
really put us behind. And you know, once you go
to a pass mode, you know, against against a really
good pass fresh, particularly Micah Parsons, and the pressures you

(40:55):
know that Coach Zimmer can throw at you. You know,
they we really played into the opponent's hands and wanted
to be able to control it by running the ball,
by playing good defense and they were able to do
that today.

Speaker 8 (41:05):
Dave, the offense didn't seem to be able to get
into a rhythm after that first drive either. What do
you attribute that to?

Speaker 13 (41:13):
Yeah, it was just you know, some it was like
hit or miss, and I got to watch the film
to give you a clear picture of what happened, you know,
But you know, it comes down to third down. You know,
we had a pretty bad day on third down, and
then the turnovers, you know, and that kind of just eliminates,
you know, the opportunities that you get to play balanced offense,
and at a certain point you got to go because
of the point differentially.

Speaker 6 (41:33):
Hey, coach is Jake?

Speaker 2 (41:35):
I question?

Speaker 12 (41:35):
So I guess just sitting here, we get a touchdown,
then we kick it off and they return it to
the forty, and then we get a fifteen yard penalty
on special teams. What's the you know, how frustrating is
it when we're trying to climb back into it and
we have an extracurricular activity It seemed like we've had
we're having a few of those weekly show up.

Speaker 13 (41:54):
Yeah, it's a really frustrating part of that. We got
to get out of our football and you know, we're
addressing it and we can. You know, we just got
to continue to go to these guys and talk to
them and just realize that in this league, you just
can't give opponents anything, you know, in anytime we're giving
field position up, you know, particularly when their run game
was working as well as as it did against us.
You know, it's just it puts us into a bad

(42:16):
spot along with the turnovers.

Speaker 10 (42:17):
Even dark daves have some bright spots. So Jaileen Cocher,
that undrafted rookie four catches one hundred and ten yards,
the eighty three yard touchdown. Just his development and what you're
seeing out of him as he gets towards the end
of his rookie season.

Speaker 13 (42:28):
Yeah, just making the most of his opportunities, you know,
working himself back to get on the field, being available
for the quarterback when we call on him, you know.
And so he's he's doing a great job of just
being you know, engaged in what we're doing, working really
hard and making big plays for us, you know, something
that we hope we can count on.

Speaker 9 (42:44):
All right, Well, coach, we appreciate your time. Thank you
for joining us.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
Okay, thanks guys.

Speaker 9 (42:48):
Coach Dave Canal is there again.

Speaker 10 (42:49):
The overarching story though thirty to fourteen Cowboys win over
the Panthers. As we check in once again with Brett,
Mike and Eugene all.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
Right, Eugene thoughts on what the coach had to say.

Speaker 5 (42:59):
You know, coaches right, he said, he's gonna have to
look at the film. But a lot of the offensive
power and output was really thrown by the Dallas Cowboys.
I thought that, you know, because Zimmer came with a
really good scheme, eight man front. He's gotten guys up
in there to stop the run. Tuba was ineffective because
why because you got guys you got you gotta beat
that one guy when it was eight man front and

(43:20):
it just didn't materialize.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
This didn't happen.

Speaker 5 (43:23):
And then defensively, I know of the four turnovers, and
the coach talked about that and it put us in
some awkward spots defensively. But if I'm being honest, I
thought in the second half, I thought that the defense
got pushed around by the offensive line of the of
the Dallas Cowboys. It seemed like we just couldn't we
just couldn't get out of their way, and they were

(43:44):
getting four or five yards six yards a clip every
single time. And so that two hundred and eleven yards
I got rushing, Well a lot of that yards I
thought was they came in that second half.

Speaker 3 (43:54):
Yeah, it was smash mouth on both sides of the ball.
About that run on the ball, and they were able
to keep the defensive line. You and I talked about
this Brett walking down here. Just didn't seem to be
enough pressure that you would like to see from the
defensive the Panthers defensive side of the story.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
Yeah, and so we'll see how it all plays out.

Speaker 4 (44:12):
As we talked about five weeks of great play, they
encouraging play. Step back this week back the team responds
before the Arizona game next week. Still ahead, we have
the final thoughts coming from Jim, Jake and Aniche and
our final three and outs as well.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
So stay with us.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
You're listening to Panthers Football presented by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
Back to Bred McMillan with more of the Panthers postgame
show preseem by Southern Star un official bourbon of the
Carolina Panthers celebrate the spirit up in Carolinas.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
Welcome back to the fifth quarter. Wrapping things up here
at Bank of America Stadium. Panthers followed the Cowboys thirty
to fourteen. Panthers Cowboys legend Roger Staubach over there where
the cowboy hat, Oh yeah, over there. I guess you's
gotta be happy with that Starbucks, big old Rogers stack.

Speaker 7 (45:04):
I don't think that's him.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
Army by the way, Yeah, they did Robinson, the offensive
lineman that had the he was the up man in
the fake punt and he ran down.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
You know they love that, the big men love that. Now.

Speaker 4 (45:21):
Yeah, I'm still upset with Rogers stockback for getting hurt
and letting long They come in and throw the touchdown
pass against the Redskins that year.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
Thanksgiving, and at least you're not holding onto things. He
tried ruined my Thanksgiving and only everything.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
You know.

Speaker 4 (45:33):
The only thing Longly ever did in his career was
getting a fight with Starbuck in the locker room, which
was not a good career move.

Speaker 5 (45:39):
Now, and what about the tight end man who dropped
Jackie Jackie Jackie Smith It.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
Yeah, the Cardinals, he's with it. He was the Cowboys
and Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (45:48):
Yeah, he was going across. It was good to Pittsburgh,
still is. And he dropped that Testyle pass by throwing my.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
Poor guy's did most of his career of the Cardinals
and never made the Super Bowl till then all right,
let's go back to the booth and get stuff about
today's game, and so he could reminiscing, and then let's
get back from Jim Aniche and.

Speaker 9 (46:02):
Jake all Right.

Speaker 10 (46:03):
A setback, fourth in a row for the Panthers, but
this one not competitive, Unlike the other three against really
tougher opponents. In this case, Panthers just overmatched by Dallas,
and there were a number of reasons. Again another day
where they had difficulties on defense stopping the run. Two
hundred and eleven yards given up in that department. Rico
Dowdell had one hundred and forty nine ceedee lamb, he's

(46:24):
a problem for everybody, but he had one hundred and
sixteen yards and a touchdown grab today. And Bryce Young,
although efficient nineteen of twenty eight, part of four turnovers,
two interceptions, two fumbles, he was sacked six times, looking
over matched at times against this Dallas defense, which did.

Speaker 2 (46:38):
Not come in with glowing numbers.

Speaker 10 (46:40):
They were giving up the second most points in the league,
second most rushing yards in the league, but Dallas on
this day was better a niche and for Carolina step back.
And again I think big picture, no one's panicking about
that overall, but based on how they played really over
the last five weeks, it was disappointing to see this
at home TWN.

Speaker 8 (46:57):
Yeah, and I think, really, you don't want to boil
it down to one thing, but if you look at
two things. The one area where the Panthers have struggled
really since Week one, when Derek Brown went down, that's
been against the run three straight games. You give up
two hundred plus hard to win in the NFL doing
that when a team runs for two hundred yards on
the ground and then four turnovers. So given how they

(47:17):
had played over the previous five games and had showed progression,
I think what you hope is that a game like
this is the blip in the radar, A game like
this is the aberration and not some regression to the mean.
And I think there's a lot of optimism that still stands.
You got three more games to show people that when
they beat New Orleans, they beat the Giants. What did
people say, Jake, Well, let's see how you do it

(47:39):
against Kansas City. And then when they go and took
Kansas City to the wire. Everyone walked away and said, Okay,
this team looks like it had turned a corner. The
Tampa and Philly game further evidence of that step back. Yes,
I don't think it's a sky is falling moment. Even
though there was some regression today. Bryce will be the
first guy to tell you that he's capable of playing

(47:59):
much better. We've seen it. But it was a lot
of ill time penalties and some of those mistakes. Jake,
you get into a second down and five to now
you have a fall star penalty, and you put yourself
in predictable passing downs, which they did a lot today.
And this is the one team with Michael Parsons.

Speaker 9 (48:18):
You can't do that. Now you can't.

Speaker 12 (48:20):
And I think the thing that when I look at it,
ten carries thirty two yards Chuba Hubbard, I mean, that's it.
Like we've got to rely on this guy a little
bit more. We're not there yet passing game wise, although
we've seen some nice progression, but I think it was
a lot of it was a line of scrimmage game.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
They beat the line.

Speaker 12 (48:39):
They beat us on the line of scrimmage offensively versus
our defense, and especially in the second half, they got
our got after us pretty good defensive line against our
offensive line. But like you said, I'm hoping this is
just a blip in the radar. It's one of those
games that we've shown some pretty good football. But now, hey,
we got to look in the mirror, like there's still
a lot more left to be played for There's three games,

(49:00):
and these are three very important football games with all
these young players. We're not sure what Legetz issue is.
He got a little banged up today. Coco was back,
That helps, but Bryce he was. I haven't seen him
that animated or disappointed then since last year early in
the season. He wasn't a happy Bryce today, and I
just think that was because how the game played out.

(49:23):
Thirteen plays in the first drive, he gets to the
fumble and just we never gotten that rhythm.

Speaker 9 (49:27):
He just never seen happy out there on the field.

Speaker 10 (49:30):
Yeah, difficult after what was a tight game at halftime.
Panthers got on the board right before the half of
the Jalen Cochre eighty three. Our touchdown made it ten
to seven, and then Dallas just took it in the
second half back home for Arizona, coming up next week.

Speaker 9 (49:42):
Guys, Thank you, thanks for our crew.

Speaker 10 (49:44):
Harold Hamrick, our technical director, Jerry Doubt, our game site
engineer in the studio with Wendell Black, David Eads, Matt
Hogan and Barbran Putman, Amy Martin, our broadcast manager, Eric Filman,
our affiliates manager.

Speaker 9 (49:53):
Thanks to Christin Balboni.

Speaker 10 (49:54):
Great job on the sidelines going through the rain today
down there at times of David Langdon, our executive producer.
Finals score were Cowboys thirty, Panthers fourteen. Back down the
hall we go now with Brett, Mike and Eugene.

Speaker 4 (50:04):
All Right, thanks a lot, Jim, and we'll take one
more drive around the lake, brought to you by the
Hanted Dealers of the Carolinas.

Speaker 6 (50:10):
Mike, what are you going on to the lake games?

Speaker 3 (50:12):
Well, speaking of Arizona, they are in action. They're playing
the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick's probably happily he's
in Chapel Hill right now because they're trailing ten to
nothing on the road to Arizona. They to Williams Fumbel
recovery the Cardinals did in the end zone after a
Highland field goal, So now ten nothing in the desert
Denver at home trailing ten seven to Indianapolis Buffalo. Three

(50:36):
rushing touchdowns, two by Josh Allen, won by James Cook.
They lead the Detroit Lines right now twenty one to
two seven. Very big game right there, yep. Two playoff
contenders going at it right now. The Chargers at home
have a touchdown lead over Tampa Bay Philadelphia a touchdown
at home better than Pittsburgh Green Bay Seattle to Eugene's

(50:58):
former teams. They're playing tonight, and then we have two
Monday night games Chicago at Minnesota, Atlanta at Las Vegas
in the Chiefs game. Something to keep an eye on
this week will be pat Patrick Mahomes. He looked like
he may have stuffer a little bit of an ankle injury.
They think it could be a high ankle spring so
watch out now. That'll be something to keep an eye
and hopefully it's not that, but sources say that it's
a possibility have a game Saturday and then the following Wednesday.

(51:20):
So that's the worst time to get I mean, that's
never a good time for that injury, But any kind
of ankle injury, you don't want two games in that
short amount of time.

Speaker 5 (51:27):
They might want to think about going ahead and shutting
him down a little bit too, because you need him
going forward in the playoffs, no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (51:33):
Yeah, they've already clinched the West.

Speaker 4 (51:35):
Yeah, and yeah, he was already complaining about seven games
or three games and ten days.

Speaker 6 (51:41):
That's a lot.

Speaker 2 (51:42):
That's a lot.

Speaker 5 (51:42):
And I'm just saying I would actually probably shut him down.
Get that ankled heel if since is hyakusprain. Those things hurt?
Oh my goodness, they're painful.

Speaker 4 (51:50):
They've proven they can win on the road in the playoffs, Yes,
they can.

Speaker 6 (51:53):
Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (51:54):
All right, when we come back, it'll be time for
our three and outs. You're listening to Panthers' footballpers and
to have Morris drinkins.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
The Panthers postgame show continues. Pre see them a by
Southern Star unofficial bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the
spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 4 (52:12):
Well, the big voice guy said it. It is the
Panthers postgame show. It's time for our three and outs,
and mister Pachico, why don't you kick us off?

Speaker 7 (52:19):
All right?

Speaker 3 (52:20):
So my first one, this is gonna be a theme here,
and this is things that we need to work on obviously,
and today hopefully is an aberration. But coach kind as
mentioned what I'm about to mention as well. You gotta
be good on third down, both offensively and defensively, meaning
you got to convert on third down to keep drives going,
you got to keep the other team off the field
on third down, gotta protect the football, and you have

(52:41):
to establish a running game.

Speaker 7 (52:42):
And today we were kind of zero for three in
all those categories.

Speaker 5 (52:45):
Well you got the same three I got because I
was like, look, you gotta protect the ball. Those four
turnovers did you the sacks you gotta protect the quarterback,
the sacks did you in and then you got to
establish the run on the offense side of the ball.
We weren't able to establish a run. And defensively, this
is maybe a fourth one. Is that your defensive front,
that front seven, possibly that front eight, you got to

(53:07):
stop the run, and we weren't able to stop the run.
If you can't stop the run, you give a guy
like CD Lamb and any quarterback what a guy like
ceedee Lamb eat your live. And so we got to
do a little bit better than what we did. I
think we took a step back, but I'm still optimistic,
all right. I got better discipline. Eight penalties today, some
of very costly times. This team cannot afford to be

(53:29):
taking steps backwards when you're trying to get the offense
moving forward.

Speaker 6 (53:33):
Let's take a positive at it today.

Speaker 4 (53:34):
Jalen Cocher, a kid that's been hurt, outstanding day to
day with over one hundred yards receiving. And then finally,
the twenty four hour rule is an effect. Twelve hour
rule forget about this thing. Yeah, that's right the way
you think about today for until tomorrow you show up
in practice, get out of your mind. You had five
good weeks in a row. Put this behind you, watch

(53:54):
the film, learn from it, put it behind you, and
let's get some positive vibes going moving forward, because next
week you have your home finale against Arizona right here
at Back of America Stadium. The stadium show starts at
ten o'clock on the Fox, followed by the countdowny kickoff
at noone kick off just after one o'clock, and then
we'll be back here for the postgame show just after
four once again the final. Today, Cowboys beat the Panthers

(54:15):
thirty to fourteen.
