Speaker 1 (00:03):
Now to Chim Sookie with the Panthers postgame show exclusively
on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Postgame show of your First Place Carolina Panthers, Yes, who
win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers twenty three to twenty
Do you know the fun? First place alone at eight
and seven Tampa Bay at seven and eight, another late
drive led by Bryce Young that included a forty eight
(00:34):
yard field goal by Ryan Fitzgerald and then Laythan Ransom
seals it with the interception late in the game as well.
We had a lot of folks come join us here
in the North Lounge for the fifth Quarters show. We're
going to be here for a while. I would say, tonight,
Mike and you change.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
That was fun.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
This was a challenge, and this was a team that's
been win one, lose one. It was our week to
win one. And now with that the Panthers in the
driver seat in the NFC South.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
And just a lot of energy too.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
I just saw Mike Toban and James Edison, two of
the favorite Panthers here screaming it up there to oh
my no, there's bucket buck here in the neighborhood.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Too bad?
Speaker 4 (01:06):
This Yeah, there's a lot of Panthers that's been here,
but this was an incredible and incredible game. Indeed, and
let me just say this about Ransom. Last week, Ransom
had a play that was really questionable that really hurts
the team. This time he has a play that helps
the team where he seals the deal. Good job, mister Wreslam,
absolute job, absolutely well.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
Good complimentary football.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Right.
Speaker 6 (01:28):
I mean, the offense took the lead on the field
goal and then the defense did their job getting that
turnover to seal the win.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
It was an up and down game, kind of like
how the season has been. Who went back and forth
as Virus who had the lead, looked like Eugene on
that Ransom interception that Baker was expecting obviously an out
route where that was cut on the inside there. So
I looked like just a miscommunication by their offense.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
And I want to talk to Greg Olsen when he
when he comes to join us here, because.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I thought the same thing. There was an incut.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
But I thought that the improvisation that Big was into,
I thought that he assumed he was going to run
out while he was still dedicated to his in Rowe.
So I just thought it was a miscommunication on that part,
and I thought maybe so on Baker because Baker was
hoping that.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
He was going to go to the outside and Ransom.
Good job.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
One thing, he's in good position, but he had his
eyes on the quarterback in this one regard, which actually
helped him out. Typically I say, don't keep your eyes
with the quarterback, get to your man, but this time
having his eyes with the quarterback almost like in his
own situation.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Helped him out.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
And they kind of forced a money pocket there. Yeah,
for Baker Mayfield too, So I think they kind of
sped him up on that plane.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
I think that in the combination.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
Yes, And we'll find out about the about the route later,
but whether it was a miscommunication or not, but it
was good play on the defense.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, but there was there were people in the face
and Baker really did fill the heat and he's tried
to step up in that pocket and and throw the
ball off to his left hand side.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
That was a good job.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
And you know, I was really, you know, maybe hard
last week on coach at Gerald for one night he
sat back in his zone against the Saints and they
were able to march down this time not so much.
We saw a number of blitzes today on the outside
people dropping back to cover and also some man the
man zero blitzes that really paid dividends today.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
It got Bacon Macherel off the spot and.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
He wasn't as comfortable throwing the ball as he would
have been because he's really dangerous. In my opinion, he's
gotten better and better with time, no doubt about it.
First time he's lost to the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Wow, really as a Tampa Bay looking at four and
one because he's been fourg no since the move and
it was helped you one hundred and forty five yards
touchdown interception.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
And you know, e Jamie talked.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
In the pregame two about Mike Evans and while he
did have that touchdown early on just five catches thirty
one yards, Yeah, you know what, uh I thought?
Speaker 4 (03:48):
You know, they tied to go ahead and go at
Mike Mike Jack who was covering Mike Evans on that play.
They caught him on the back shoulder faith for the
test style. But then Joe, they came back to that
same play against Mike Jack and he actually defended extremely well,
so a lesson learned. They were hoping to take advantage
of the height differential between Evans and Jack, but it
(04:09):
didn't pay out the dividences that they thought it would
pay out. All right.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Was joined by a special guest here for Panther Panther legend,
Brenson Buckner joining us here in the house.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Dude, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
What was your day like today, Brenston.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Oh, it's a great day. It was a great day, man.
Speaker 7 (04:24):
It was great to be back in the state em
and see that Carolina Panthers spirit from the fans. Most
of all, you know, I missed those days from my
planing days, playing in big games versus Tampa Bay. To
see that today brought back memory. So it was great today.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
And how about the atmosphere today, Brenston, And how that
really tied into you know, the players feeding off that,
and I think that was kind of it showed out
throughout the throughout the course of the game.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
It definitely does this time of year when the games
means something and you can have your fans out here
with the energy and the noise that they brought. Players
feed off of that, especially when you are a young
team that's trying to forge an identity, which we're seeing
with the Carolina Panthers, right now you look for that crowd.
That's the that's the comfortability. I've been making up a
word that you get from your fans being at home.
(05:08):
You sleep in the same bed, you drive the same route,
you dress in the same locker room. Then you come
out and you got eighty thousand people. Who's behind you?
You can take on the world.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
You know, you guys had an incredible defense. It was you, Jake,
there was a Rooker and Julius Peppers, Wallace. There was
a number of guys there who contributed that really set
the tone for what our defense is. What do you
think about this defense? And particularly when you see Derek
Brown trying to hold it down as you guys held
it down, Well.
Speaker 7 (05:38):
I see a defense that's that's fortunate identity.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
But Dereck Brown is a man.
Speaker 7 (05:42):
You talking about the solid foundation, the bill from upfront,
who can rest the passer, who can stop the run.
But what I'm really seeing this a lot of young
players starting to take their role. And you know, just
like like I, do you need youth that that that
can take their spot this time of year, they play hard.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Ransom.
Speaker 7 (05:58):
I've been watching Ransom make plays since in high school
in Arizona, and to see him make that play today,
that's remind me of or just watching them, and these
guys are getting their identity. You got Horn on one end,
you got Jackson on the other end. They're solidified in
the cornerback position and the inside linebackers are really growing.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
You know.
Speaker 7 (06:15):
I think at the beginning of the year everybody would
say that was a weakness. But those guys have found
their groove to it. You can see that. You can
see the machine starting to turn the right way. Everybody's
starting to move in the right direction.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Because, like I.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
Said, you don't need Superman, you just need a whole
bunch of super friends.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
And everybody get a job done.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
How often times there's the defensive tackle, particularly when we're
talking about a four to three or three four, that.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
You have to go ahead and take on a double team.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
And when you have to take on the double team,
what is your responsibility? What would be Derek Browns, what
would be Wartons, what would be the other brown What
would be the responsibility in Robinson take it on the
double team?
Speaker 7 (06:48):
Well, their jobs on double team is not to give
up any movement, and that means just to hold the
point as much as you can to buy time for
your linebackers to get down here or try to slide
through a gap. But what we're seeing from Robinson and
Dave Brown right now, they're taking on double teams and
they're tossing them and making plays. Now that's bonus, you know,
(07:08):
that's boneus. That's buying a bitley and getting the rems
on it already. But most of all, on the double team,
you just tell people, if they got to put four
hands on, you make them keep four hands on. You
were playing with an extra guy now, and those guys
doing a great job now. But now they're to the
point where they're filling the double team thun to come off,
and now they become a viable guy and getting off
and making plays.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
When you look at the interception that sealed the game,
you really have to credit the defensive line as well
because they got a Baker kind of off the spot
and that allowed Ransom to being a good position to
make that catch. How important is it as a defensive
lineman to do their job to help the back end.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Of the defense.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
A lot of times in today's world, we want to
count sacks. Sacks is just a tackle on the quarterback.
It's more important to move this guy office by make
him feel uncomfortable because we always say tipping overthrows.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Got to get those.
Speaker 7 (07:53):
Yes, when you start making a guy like Baker Mayfield
moves that he can win the game with every throw.
Now you're playing with house money, and that's what they
did today. He got out a couple of times, was
able to run, but for the most part they hit him.
They made them feel uncomfortable, and they got him and
Mike Evans off the same page.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
All right, pressure, last thing this team for nine weeks
now has been win one, lose one.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
What do you think it takes as a football team
to remain consistent and keep things going in the positive way?
Speaker 7 (08:19):
Just don't take a step back from this game is
because what we always say is from the coaching side,
when you win, you.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Can coach a little bit harder.
Speaker 7 (08:26):
Look at the film and be very critical of yourself
because you're feeling good about the win, and just say, hey,
what could we have lost this game?
Speaker 3 (08:32):
What can we improve the stuff that we did?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Good?
Speaker 7 (08:35):
Let's build on it. But don't look too far ahead.
Look right at Seattle, looked them in the eye and say, hey,
they coming to our spot. And by any means necessary.
We got to get this win.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
You know, as a coach too, I want you to
come put on your coaching had What do you now
as you tell your guys, what do you tell yourselfer's
ball schemes and what things look like and how you
can go ahead now and take advantage maybe of a
Seattle Seahawks or maybe the next time when you've put
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, what would.
Speaker 7 (09:01):
You be doing well? Will tell them that, Hey, they're
gonna have worried about what we do. Now we know
we can get after this pass. We know we can
we can hold their top wide receiver. We we know
we can run on this defense and take some chunks offensively.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yes, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
We took some.
Speaker 7 (09:16):
Chunks offensively because I think we Carolina has a mismatch
our wide receivers versus their cornerbacks.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
And I just think now the plan.
Speaker 7 (09:24):
Starts to unfold, because when you go into a game,
it's a lot of ifs and butts. But now when
you win like you did and you see it, you're like, hey,
I'm my coaches, was right. The way we practice was right,
the way we met was right. Let's improve on those things.
Do the ordinary things better than Tampa Bay, do them
better than Seattle do them. And when you're at home,
momentum swinging to your side because it's a special place. Now, Eugene,
(09:47):
you play here, Carolina has a special place. People don't
want to come here and play. You know, it looks
all nice when you laying, but you get in this statement.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
You see those black end zones.
Speaker 8 (09:59):
Time go to work.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
I love to throw back black end zones today as well.
That's Panthers legend.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Brenston Buckner, Thank you for being here, Brests. No'll go
more to come from the North Lounge. Fifth quarter show
Jim along with Mike and Eugene twenty three to twenty
Panthers beat Tampa Bay on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
YEP, and back here in the fifth quarter the Panthers
winning twenty three to twenty over the Buccaneers. I am
Mike Pachika, Jim z Oki, Eugene Robinson alongside this drive
around the League brought to you by the Honda Dealers
of the Carolinas. There are a couple of games just
underway right now. Arizona already three nothing over Atlanta.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
So the just underway.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
That literally about eleven to fifty to go in the
first there Denver and Jackson Wilson playloff implications potentially with
that game scoreless nine to forty.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
Four to go.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
Pittsburgh is at Denver, that game coming up in about
six minutes, along with Las Vegas at Houston, New England
at Baltimore Cday Night game, and San Francisco is the
Indianapolis that'll be the Monday night game. From earlier today,
Buffalo knots off Cleveland twenty three twenty. James Cook had
one hundred and seventeen yards on the ground a couple
of touchdowns. Josh Allen only nineteen attempts on twelve completions
(11:15):
one hundred and thirty yards. Chargers over Dallas with thirty
four to seventeen. Dak Prescott two hundred and forty four
yards in the loss. Justin Herbert was twenty three of
twenty nine, three hundred yards in the air and he
had a.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Couple of touchdowns.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
Cincinnati just walloped Miami today forty five to twenty one.
Joe Burrow three hundred and nine yards in the air,
four touchdowns, So that'll be the fifth win of the
year for Cincinnati Miami. Maybe a tough losses they tried
to think as they still think about playoffs, but tougher
road now head for them. New Orleans continues to play
well down the Stretchers, though twenty nine to six over
(11:48):
the Jets and Tyler Schuck forty nine attempts better than
that record shows absolutely three hundred eight yards, one touchdown,
no interceptions. JJ McCarthy had a rushing touchdown. Minnesota beats
the Jets sixteen to thirteen, and Tennessee over Kansas City
twenty six to nine. And you've seen the effect of
not having Patrick Mahomes on the field for Kansas City
(12:10):
going back to the Burton Yeah quarter it certainly so.
That is our drive around the league, brought to you
by the Hog Dealers of the Carolinas.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Listen back to a couple of highlights from the second
half of the Panthers win over Tampa Bay twenty three
to twenty. Got two plays for you here. This is
Bryce Young happy to add lib and the third quarter
rolls out to his left side. I fin'ds JT. Sanders
in the end zone for our Panthers touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
League get Coker.
Speaker 9 (12:36):
McMillan to the left, Dat Sanders to the right, Bryce
to the shotgun. Buccaneers have not blitzed much today. Here's
the snap pressure off the edge. Brice dancing in the pocket,
tried to old Vada sack.
Speaker 10 (12:48):
He does throws back of the episode, wide open touchdown.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
Car all line up.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Panthers would come down get the go ahead field goal
and that was from Ryan Fitzgerald with actually two twenty
to go in the game, and then Baker Mayfield. Bucks
have the ball one more time, but there's a miscommunication
on their pass attempt and it's a rookie Leathan Ransom
here with the pickoff to steal the victory for Carolina.
Speaker 9 (13:22):
Leap in the pocket, Mayfield bouncing around the pocket, throws
and it's picked up.
Speaker 10 (13:26):
The thirty picked up by Carolina Panthers football Lengthan Ransom.
The rookie comes up with one of the biggest plays
in this season, a diving interception.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
And that would seal it for the Carolina Panthers, and
that would be your whataburger? What a moment of the game,
grilling delicious food for seventy five years. What a burger
just like you like it? And Eugene right there we
were playing the final interception by Leathan Ransom. There the defense.
You talked about it last week, they played that soft zone,
Orleans came down. How important was it to come back
(14:03):
the next week and have that fresh in their minds
of the sourness the disappointment of New Orleans and to
correct things down the stretch defensively to close this out.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
I thought Coach Jerald played coach a really good game
in this one regard.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
There were more blitzes, there were more things off the edge.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
There were more people like faking like they're gonna blitz
and then blitz.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Or then break or jump out.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
We've seen that with dj Wantam, we saw that with
Rose Boom.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
We saw that all across the field.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
I'm telling you the last play on the interception that
even the four man Russ got so much push that
they were in the throwing lanes that Bacon Mayfield had
to move out of his spot and find a place.
And when he went to find a place, he assumed
that the receiver was gonna break on the out route,
and he broke on the in route, and Ransom, who
(14:51):
had his eyes on the quarterback, realized that, oh this
is a gift. This is a freebeat, and so that
really worked out for us. But it was the pressure.
So I once again I was critical on coach last week,
so I.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Don't want to be critical this time.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
I want to say big up to you because I
thought what you did today, with the help of the fans,
with the help of all the noise, is that you
moved people off Baker off the spot by getting people.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
In his face and Mike this was a Baker led
offense and had all these skill position guys they've been
injured on the office alive. But so if the Patherns
all year long, they had all the running backs, they
had all the receivers, they had Kita in a tight end,
and the Panthers defense was still have behold of the check.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
I mean one hundred and forty five yards passing for
Baker Mayfield. I mean that's pretty impressive when you look
at some of the number. I mean, he's had some
couple of three hundred games this year. I mean he's
put up some lot of yards. He's kind of scrambled
and made a lot of plays, but the Panthers are
able to kind of contain.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
The mug and keep him off the spot.
Speaker 6 (15:46):
Made him uncomfortable as we heard in that the interception
called the end of the game.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
And this is what I like about it, because I
really believe what a quarterback is as dangerous as Baker Mayfield,
who's mobile enough to go ahead and to create things
with improvisation and to throw the ball.
Speaker 8 (16:01):
He throws a.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Really nice football down founfield. Whenever you've got a.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Guy that's that dangerous, you got you got to pick
your poison.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
If you sit back in.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
The zone where you better be squeezing the zones and
squeezing people in there because you don't Baker's gonna find
the guys. But then if you don't want to do that,
if you blitz them, you take the chance of Mike
Evans being one on one with you, and he might
come up with a touchdown. He might come up with
a pass, but they won't always come up with a pass.
And then most likely if you do blitz, you may
(16:29):
get an interception because it's the pressure that Baker is
not expecting.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
He's not expecting that.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
And so, like I said, once again, that was a
great job because I saw a number of blitzes that
I was calling for, and I saw them out there
materialize and not let Baker may feel be comfortable back there,
you know, don't forget he got a lot of guys
he could throw the rock too, too.
Speaker 6 (16:50):
Yeah, And I thought last week the issue was kind
of the untimed not this is ever a good time,
but at the untimely penalty at the worst possible moment.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
Yes, five for what five.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
Thirty penalties today eight to fifty six for Tampa Bay.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
So they cleaned up the penalties. They didn't have high
of those silly Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
It was on that it was eleven last year.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
I mean last week, for like one hundred and three hours,
it was crazy if the foot with those Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
And not only that, but this team is not historically
a bad penalized team.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
We're not.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
If we average somewhere around four or five penalties. Okay,
that's that's pretty much the mean the norm.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
And we didn't see a lot of passing interference calls either.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Yes, I've gotta tell you what I look, I'm excited
for the Panthers this way, and I'm excited for the
fans in one regard. The stadium was packed.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
This room is packed. The room is packed.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
I've seen so many black Jersey Paths of Jerseys. That's
six a quick complete blackout off there. So this was
our standing and then the noise, the energy, I mean
when you when you're hearing the study and you're like,
oh my goodness, this is a playoff atmosphere, and.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
This is what it was. And we took one from
the Tampa Bay Bucket. Had to have this one, like
mathematics not eliminated. But you lose this one, you completely
have it taken out of your hands as far as
getting to the postseason, winning the division championship.
Speaker 6 (18:08):
And that's why I like, you know, we had the
opportunity in the first half to kind of be out
in the stands and just kind of soak up the atmosphere.
Sometimes in the press box you don't really get the
mood of the stadium, but it was electric.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
I was working in the press box the whole time,
so I hope you guys got to capture some of
that well.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
I went down in the gallery, and in the gallery
they have really great food down there. But in the
gallery you're closer down to the edge and how much
of with where you can see all the activity and
all the acts where.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
The panther legends go yah.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yeah, the legends and so being down there, you got
a taste of like, oh my goodness, literally you're literally Charlotte.
But to kind of test to go ahead and fill
the vibe and the energy down in the city sounds great.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I'll have to check it out sometime in the future.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
So the Panthers waining over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers twenty
three to twenty Coming up in this postgame show will
from coach Canalis, a player interviews Christian Balboniou join us.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
We'll here from the guys in the booth as the
Panthers walk away today with first place all to their
lonesomes in the NFC South, beating Tampa Bay twenty three to.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Twenty He's the penths postgame show line from Bank of
America Citio.

special guests, highlights and updates from around the league.
Speaker 10 (19:28):
Complete touchdown, right side makes the catch.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Touchdown fathers Now to Jim Zoki with the Panthers postgame
show exclusively on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Back in the North Lounge where the Panthers fans. Panther
Nation is celebrating nation twenty three to twenty. You know
that's right, taking over the entire nation. Beat the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers to prove to eight and seven. The Bucks
have lost six of their last seven games. Now they
fall to seven and eight. Glad we're not doing Buccaneers
talk today.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
John Cannon's is silent. Today.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
We heard the interception that Leith and Ransom recorded that
sealed the victory. Let's hear from the player. Now joined
by the guys of the booth.
Speaker 9 (20:09):
We're joined by Panthers rookie defensive back Leith and Ransom.
He made one of the biggest defensive plays of the season,
maybe the biggest, the interception to seal the win at
the end. Leith and describe the moment to make that
play and secure a massive win.
Speaker 11 (20:27):
Man, it felt great. Man, I just want to thank
God first and foremost. I mean, I'm facing all that
adversity I faced last week, you know, with that that
play at the end of the game. I was real
hard on myself and really just worked and grind this
week and you know, to buy into the game plan
and just got blessed for a great opportunity.
Speaker 9 (20:42):
You believe in signs and redemption. Like when did that
kind of lock in for you? That you go from
how last weekended to how this weekended?
Speaker 11 (20:51):
Yeah, there's a verse I like to read. I don't
know the exact words to it, but it's basically, you
kind of got a weather the storm. You know, God's
gonna put you through a lot of trials and stribulations,
but I think always at the end the tunnel, there's
gonna be light and there's gonna be a reason that
He does that for you. And I think you know
today was an example of that. And you know this
is one game of many we got to keep winning.
So I'm excited for this moment, but I'm ready to
get back to work.
Speaker 8 (21:10):
Lathamish Jake here.
Speaker 12 (21:12):
I guess my question is this, you being a rookie
and you played at a great program right Ohio State,
and you guys played from national championship, won it all
last year? What is it like physically for someone like
you a bye so late in the season. Where are
you at body wise? Just the whole the whole the
year of an NFL season. To try to explain to
someone how long and how difficult it is.
Speaker 8 (21:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (21:33):
I mean, luckily, I have a great routine that I
kind of learned from Ohio State of just how to
stay on top of my body. Recovery is huge, doing
the little things, you know, to get your body right.
But yeah, it is tough, man. I mean you don't
feel close to one hundred percent until his game day
and then you know, he just repeat over and over again.
So you know, I think our head coach does a
great job of finding ways that you know, we can
get extra time to work on our bodies, work on
(21:54):
our minds, and you know, I feel I feel great
right now this time of the season.
Speaker 8 (21:58):
Lathe and congrats on the player. That that was awesome.
Speaker 13 (22:01):
You just trying to talk about the energy that these
fans brought a Bank of America Stadium to day.
Speaker 11 (22:05):
Man, amazing energy, amazing energy. I think the most exciting
game I've been a part of, especially this year.
Speaker 8 (22:12):
Yeah, it was great. You know on them.
Speaker 11 (22:14):
Defense, we need we need the fans, We need that energy.
So you know, by them helping us, you know, make plays,
get them off sides, you know, do what we can
to affect the offense. Man, we appreciate that so much,
and we can't wait to do it again next week.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
One more question.
Speaker 8 (22:27):
Have you ever ended a game on a pick like
you did today?
Speaker 11 (22:31):
Never a pick, never a game we picked, so you know,
the first of hopefully many.
Speaker 9 (22:35):
And Lathan, I want to end on this. You played
in championship games, in championship moments, big games, college football,
playoff championship Michigan right.
Speaker 8 (22:45):
At Ohio State.
Speaker 9 (22:47):
How does that help you in these situations that you're
now in, this in the part of the season where
you're essentially playing playoff football from here on out.
Speaker 11 (22:55):
Yeah, I think you know, it prepares you so much.
I mean I remember back to when, you know, my
first big game. Until now, it's just you know, just
going back to your training. I think, you know, just
thinking about sticks, situation on formation, you know what their
tendencies are. That's what I learned that you have a
good process of you know, when a moment might be
seeming like he's getting big, go back to your training
(23:16):
and lean on that. And you know, that's what's helped
me so far to this point.
Speaker 9 (23:18):
Leath And congratulations, heck of a game, heck of a play.
And I think we're all excited to see what's ahead
for this team.
Speaker 11 (23:24):
Yes, sir, thank you.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
You know, I want to give credit to the strength
of the conditioning program for that the Carolina Panthers have,
because don't forget when the rookie comes in they have
about twelve to thirteen games.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
You got seventeen games. Your season is.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Much much longer, and I can remember having that fatigue going, man,
why am I so tired? Why am I legs so tired?
And then you kind of got to get your second win.
The fact that he could be in this type of
shape and this type of win that he has, that's
a credit to the coaching staff and the program that
they have from conditioning and strengthening that they continually do
throughout the season to make sure that you were tip
(24:01):
top shape and to make sure that you're not thinking
like as a rookie, man, I'm tired. I mean, I
like what he said, but that says speaks a lot
of what's going on about benderstood.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
This might be one of the best rookie classes of
players from Teddero McMillan Fitzgerald. We take for granted is
that four game win he kicks. He's hit this year.
As far as you know, I have a two minute
mark in this game today. You talk about scot and
Princely Prince etn especially with the special.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
Teams, but his futures are running back. I like Mitchell
Evans and what he can bring in the future. It's
just a really good draft class. This class has been
really uh probably like the bach mark of of of
of a good class that Dan Morgan is going to
get noted for because Dan Morgan and Dave Canal is
when you look at it and you peel back to
Lazers to go like this, hey man, we got some
(24:48):
guys who've been balling and contributing big time, you know,
and who who saw that the number one pick would
be Tedoro McMillan.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
I didn't see that.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
I look, I was looking for a line backer slash
edge rusher. We were talking about that guy Jaalen who's
down in UH and down in with the Falcons. I'm like, dude,
Jayleen Walker. I was like, dude, I'm looking for that guy.
But the half McMillan be the number one guy played
the way he's playing, then that's great insight and that's
great scouting. Good job by then they don't need my help.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
Well, And I like what Lathan Ransoms started off the
interview with by saying and that you know that he
took it personal last week.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
Uh, you know that he was kind.
Speaker 6 (25:28):
Of the go yeah, here he was and instead of
being you know, poudy and oh woe is me?
Speaker 5 (25:33):
He what did he say?
Speaker 6 (25:34):
It's I put the grind on, I got to work
and it paid off.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
But it also speaks to coach Canalis and and and
the secondary coach that they put him back out there.
It's different if he doesn't get the chance to go
ahead and prove himself, but they feel so strongly about
him that they put him back out in that same situation.
And now it's not a run play, it's a pass
play and he and he castes in. So that's you know,
(25:58):
that's great confidence and that young man, and that speaks
well of the coaching staff.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
And also to himself.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
All right, great stuff today from Lathan Ransom injury updates
you brought.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
To you by Atrium Health. Doing more to keep you moving, achieving,
striving at every agent stage so you could live fully.
And the Panthers did it today without Trevin Wallace, no
Turk Wharton and no Ikiakwanu. Yosh Niman did as usual
a great job filling in on that offensive line at
left tackle.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Much more to come.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
You can come join us if you're still inside the
stadium or at the North Lounge fifth quarter show Panthers
a winner over Tampa Bay now in the first place alone
twenty three to twenty. You're listening on the Carolina Panthers
Radio network.
Speaker 14 (26:34):
Go Pathers twenty three Buccaneers twenty final score.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
From back of America Stadium where we are in the
North Lounge, fifth quarter show Carolina with the win alone
in first place in the NFC South and got two
to go, Gotta play Seattle, They play Miami, and then
we'll see Tampa Bay at their place coming up two
weeks from today. Before we go on, let's talk with
the former offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Bucceers. We
(27:07):
know him as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers,
Dave Canalis.
Speaker 9 (27:09):
We're joined by Panthers head coach Dave Canalis. Dave, let
me just start with the atmosphere. Describe what you saw
and what you heard from the fans.
Speaker 15 (27:19):
Black towels waving everywhere, everybody in it. The whole time
we're getting the offense getting delayed games on the other side,
false starts, just like it's supposed to be. In the
Bank Bank of America Stadium. Our fans were electric today,
letting them have it, talking to the officials, talking to
the bucks. I mean, it was amazing celebrating the big
plays that we made, and we just feed off of that,
(27:41):
you know, and the whole group could feel the support
and the belief of not just our team, not just
the whole staff and organization, but our fan base being
here knowing what's at stake. It was unbelievable. I can't
say how much I appreciate the turnout and it felt
just right. It was unbelievable.
Speaker 12 (27:57):
Hey, coaches, Jake, I got two for you. One of
them is is okay? Our kickoff team. Was there any
decision on the last kickoff to just go it to
the end zone with it? I know we didn't, which
was huge because they got the ball in the twenty
then the ten with penalty. Was there any discussion about
just getting into the end zone because they have gotten
some positive returns?
Speaker 8 (28:14):
There was.
Speaker 15 (28:14):
There was a lot of conversation about that. We just
trusted Ryan to hit his change up, which we know
he can put the ball down inside the five and
and he went for it, you know, and if he
overkicks it goes in the end zone, then that's fine too.
But he took a shot right there to try to
get it down. They were expecting the low kicks, you
know that we had been throwing at them, doing a
good job of getting the ball on the ground or
coverage unit just kind of got out of gaps a
couple times. But beautiful execution on the kick.
Speaker 12 (28:37):
And one more thing, Bryce, So I saw he got
stepped on by Corbett early early in the game, right
and it's on that same ankle, and you saw him
pretty ginger for the next few plays and he get
it taped up. But that's twice the Atlanta game when
the ankle got stepped on, and you could tell it
was an.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
Issue in this game.
Speaker 12 (28:53):
It's like, is there a hyper focus that comes over
him when there's an injury or something of that nature,
because it seems like fourth quarter Bryce stepped in today
and it seemed like he did the same thing in Atlanta.
Is it something you see different on the field because
I just noticed it from the from the booth.
Speaker 15 (29:09):
I bet you there's something to that, Jake, And I
know that Bryce plays amazing when his back's against the wall,
and you know, whether it's via injury or whether it's
just the time of the game, you know, in the score,
he just continues to come through. He stays focused and
he trusts his guys and he gives him a chance
to make plays.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
You know.
Speaker 15 (29:26):
But about as far as getting stepped on, we gotta
look at that. Is it the splits, you know, do
we got to get our feet a little bit deeper,
you know, coming out of it. So we gotta we
gotta get that fixed.
Speaker 13 (29:34):
Coach Luke, Congratulations, good bounce back from last week. Just
watching Nick Scorton in the energy that he brings on
the defensive side of the ball. Just kind of talk
about him growing as a young player fro when we
drafted him in April to where he is now.
Speaker 15 (29:46):
Yeah, he knows what he's doing. He's comfortable in the scheme,
understanding how to play blocks, different run types, transitioning to
his pass rush. I thought he had some amazing rushes
and you know, on two really good tackles that I
that I respect, you know, with Tampa and I'm just
really I'm proud of t mac lathan coming up with
the big play. All the guys that we've given opportunities
to help us, it pays dividends down the stretch.
Speaker 13 (30:07):
Hey, one last question on the touchdown pass to t
mac in the beginning at the sorry at the end
of the first half, Bryce brought brought J T.
Speaker 8 (30:15):
Sanders in. Did he see zero based on formation? He did?
Speaker 15 (30:19):
He undressed it right there, and and you know, we
really thought there was two calls. They were either going
to go with their quarters kind of inside palms on
the slaughter or they were going to bring zero. And
Bryce saw it, got the protection sorted out, the guys
gave him enough time, and he put the ball perfectly
in the back high back five of the end zone.
Speaker 8 (30:34):
That's just good coaching, right, It was.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Beautiful, Dave.
Speaker 9 (30:36):
One last one, Leathan Ransom. The way last week ended
to the way this week ended. What does that say
about a young player?
Speaker 15 (30:44):
It's poetic and and you know, you talk about a
guy who's who's a national champ, and you know, coming
to us from Ohio State and the type of belief,
the mentality, you know, the guy so into it, just
waiting for an opportunity. Was it was so poetic that
he got a chance to affect the game right there
on that biggest play, Dave, thank you, will talk.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
To you tomorrow, all right, thanks guys.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Lathan Ransom, he was a Buck b U c K guy.
That's right now to Tampa Bay Buck. He through the
good kind of Buck and the Panthers.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
Winning twenty three to twenty in a lot of different ways.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
And this was a kind of a grinded out game
in a lot of ways. Both teams were back and forth,
but the Panthers. It's kind of like the inverse of
last week against New Orleans. Either team could have won
that game last week, but Alfos final drives, the Panthers scored,
then they stop him the other way. This time he
was the Panthers doing what the Saints did to Carolina
last week and closing it out.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
It is so important that your your quarterback is they
diagnosed what the defense is doing.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
You know, we talked about a couple of test seuns.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Whether we're talking about Santas or we're talking about McMillan.
Bryce has to diagnose if they are man and man
coverage and then make some adjustments and then he has
to throw you open because typically it may not be
a go route that he's gonna end up running that
little nine row.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
He may switch it to a run.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
To nine because I know that I got to get
really the ball very very quickly, and I'm gonna throw
you up and down deep. So I'm gonna give Bryce
some love and some credit too, because I'm like, that's
not easy to as you've got so many defensive backs
moving and linebackers moving, it's not easy to go ahead
and decipher that.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
That's why on the flip side, the office.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Puts somebody in motion and they see with the motion,
if the if the defender goes away with them to
the other side, if it is, it denotes that maybe
you're and man and man defense. And it was so good, good,
good kudos to Bryce Young. Got give him props to
able to decipher what's going on and hit on that.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
That's big time.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
And the other thing too is we've seen you know
what three straight weeks now with no interceptions. I mean,
so protecting the football, you know, and Dave Knallis has
been preaching that since day one, not not just this year,
but you know, going back to last year. And you know,
not only not only you know, protecting the football, but
now we're seeing this team do what past Panthers teams
have done when they're successful, which is winning that turnover battle,
(32:59):
making making the plays, playing complimentary football, and then making
the winning plays and winning time.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
And though, don't you think that with the parody in
this league, and there's so much parody in this league
that you know, I don't care if you're playing the Rims,
I don't care if you're playing the Lions. I don't
care if you're playing the Seattle Seahawks any given day.
I mean, particularly with our office and what we can
do defensively, that you always have a shot to win
the game.
Speaker 6 (33:23):
And we talked about this side Joe. You know, sometimes
it's not that you win the game, it's just that
you don't lose the game.
Speaker 16 (33:30):
But I'm amazed by the talk shows and those who
go on social media that they don't understand that because
we're gonna spin right now of nine weeks of win one,
lose one, and after each one we're either going to
the super Bowl or fire everybody.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
The memories have gotten so short.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
It's like we're the greatest example of what you're talking
about in the entire NFL. And this is a team
right now that the postseason began today, would be in
the playoffs as a division champion at this moment. And
don't forget year we won five games, we won.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
And we do this.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
So this is a mark improvement too. And the fact
that I think that we've gotten so hungry and and
and we're kind of almost taking the Panthers for granted
that we're like, hey, you actually can beat a lot
of people, and you can, so we take it for
granted that we're really coming from a deficit from two
wins then five wins, now we're eight wins.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Hey, I'll take that in a heartbeat. If you'd have.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Told me we'd have had eight wins this season, I'm
going like this, Yeah, I'll take that all day. The
narrative is that we could actually be in the playoff.
What I'll take that too, absolutely, no doubt about that.
I had to be the point at you, but I
was just like.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
You, you know, it's about you.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
Yeah, But if we're sitting here, hopefully the Panthers beat Seattle,
but if they don't, it'll be like, how do they
do that?
Speaker 2 (34:49):
It's the worst Exactly were drafting.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
Next year exactly, And I don't want you to get
into that roller coaster, Ryan, And that's when I think
that I thought, Dan, I think we might be off.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Aren't we off? Yep?
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Testing one, two, three, Okay, we're back, We're back. We
did not pay the power bill.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
We have so much energy down here in the North
Lounge using all the energy.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
Oh, we on the generator.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
We are in generator power from this point on here
at Bank of America State. But it's a very large generator.
Let's go ahead and do this. So take a time out.
We got more to do as we continue, we'll hear
from the Luke and Jake and a Niche in the booth,
and more to come as we talk from the North
Lounge at Bank of America Stadium, fifth Quarter show. Pathers
a winner over Tampa Bay twenty three to twenty.

Back to the Panthers postgame show live from Bank of
America Stadium, exclusively on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
All right, so the Panthers in first place by themselves
as they win twenty three to twenty over the Bucks.
Jim's Ochielom and Mike Pachico, Eugene Robinson, the guys who
called the game in the booth. Let's hear from them
right now and what they thought as what they saw
in the game today.
Speaker 9 (37:29):
Not all wins are the same, and this one felt
different from the get go Panthers twenty three, Buccaneers twenty.
The win for Carolina gives the Panthers' sole possession of
first place. And here's the playoff scenario now for Carolina.
If they beat Seattle and Tampa loses to Miami next week,
the division belongs to Carolina, Charlotte gets a home playoff game.
(37:54):
If the Panthers beat the Bucks in week eighteen, the
same applies. The division belongs to Carolina and Charlotte gets
a home playoff game. I want to start with the
fans and the crowd because they made a difference today. Luke,
you know what it's like to play in front of
(38:15):
a jazzed up crowd. You did it in twenty fifteen
when this place was bonkers, Jake, You've done it in
the past. These fans take a bow. They made a
difference today.
Speaker 13 (38:25):
Oh absolutely, And specifically as a defender, you can't tell
me that this crowd noise on these big third downs
didn't draw a couple of false starts bumping back five yards.
It changes the approach of ej of a vro on
his defensive play calls. He gives us five yards of
bonus yarders to play with on the defensive side on
third down. And just the energy that you feel and
(38:45):
that you can't tell me on that last drive when
we walked out there and the crowd was into it,
those guys don't get energized to go out there and
close that game out. And that's exactly what we did.
And that's why you play the game of football. That's
why you play games that matter in December is the
energy in the atmosphere, and we certainly had that today.
Speaker 12 (39:02):
You know, I think I'm just I'm proud I'm watching
these young guys make plays.
Speaker 8 (39:07):
I think that's the biggest thing.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
I just like Nick s Gordon.
Speaker 12 (39:10):
I know the stat sheet shows like two tackles and
and things like that and to assist.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
But he showed up.
Speaker 12 (39:18):
He showed up on the screen that now never now
never show up in the stat sheet. But he read
screen right away and he retraced and Baker had to
throw the ball like just little.
Speaker 8 (39:27):
Plays like that.
Speaker 12 (39:27):
Those are the things Latham Ransom with the big interception
to make sure he created the football. Our young receivers,
t Max showing up today, obviously Cocher, who we love,
Jimmy Horn the one play you know we're able to
get him the ball. It's it's juice, right, And I
guess Jimmy Horn, maybe this is me as a quarterback.
When you go in motion and you run full speed.
(39:47):
That makes me so happy inside because the defense you
have to always you don't know what that's like some
guy's lolligag. Just little things like that. I'm and Baker listen.
He threw fo one hundred and forty five yards. One
play was forty yards late the game. Other than that,
I think our pass defense was really really good today.
Speaker 9 (40:03):
And Bryce Young again in crunch time, he finds a
way right the last drive leads Carolina downfield. They kick
the go ahead field goal, Ryan Fitzgerald from forty eight yards.
He's hit some clutch kicks as a rookie this season
out of Florida State. Another young guy. But Jake, you said,
if there's something about Bryce young in those boiler room
(40:28):
moments where he just has a coolness and he finds
a way to make it off plays and to get
it done down the stretch.
Speaker 12 (40:35):
Yeah, there's a calmness about it. That's one thing. There's
a calmness and you know he just make plays. You
feel confident because he wasn't the easiest today. I think
special teams wise, we gave up a lot of yardage.
I think Tampa had the ball. Their field position was
a lot better than us on a couple of occasions,
one time starting on the plus side of the field.
So it wasn't like it was all easy as a
fairly clean game penalty wise, only one turnover.
Speaker 8 (40:58):
I believe the whole game.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Was to ceil it.
Speaker 12 (41:01):
So listen, I'm I'm just proud. Christian rose Boom was
another one. I think he showed up today. Him and
Claude and chairlest and Luke could probably speak more to
them like Rose, you felt Rose Boom, you felt Claude,
and you saw some of the plays that they made
that was huge today.
Speaker 9 (41:15):
And Luke, when you talk about the youth, I thought
this team grew up today because this was a game
where there was no margin for error. Neither team turned
it over. You had to maximize every possession, Every defensive
stop mattered. Tampa had three long, time consuming possessions. The
game shrank. This team was up to the challenge.
Speaker 8 (41:37):
Oh and absolutely, And it's just it's consistent growth.
Speaker 13 (41:40):
And I think this is one of the first games
that we've we've won that we've needed to really win
in order us in order for us to stay alive
in the playoff picture. This was a big step for us.
We needed to win this game and there was pressure
on the team for a lot of reasons. Number one,
we should we we didn't play great last week. We
come we come back to home to play Tampa two
(42:00):
out of the next three weeks. We needed to win
this game to give ourselves a chance. And this moment
wasn't too big for us. Like you said, we played clean,
we cleaned up the penalties from last week.
Speaker 8 (42:10):
We got good.
Speaker 13 (42:11):
We got good additions from Nick Gordon, t mac lathan,
Ransom had the big pick, Jimmy had the.
Speaker 8 (42:17):
Excuse me had the big play in the beginning of
the game. We're growing up in front of our faces
right now and it's good to see.
Speaker 9 (42:24):
The Panthers will have at least one, maybe two chances
to clinch the division over the next two weeks. Again,
beat Seattle. Hope Miami beats Tampa. That's one way to
do it. Or just go and beat Tampa on the
road in week eighteen. It is all in front of
the Carolina Panthers seeking that first playoff berth since twenty
(42:46):
seventeen and that first division title since two fifteen. Final
score from Bank of America Stadium, Carolina twenty three, Tampa
Bay twenty huh.
Speaker 4 (42:57):
Oh, you know it's a party when Eugene break glass
not your first rodeo doing that.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Then did you buy them?
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Just like a yeah, no, dude, this is these are
about good glasses, man. I gotta go back to Warby
Parker and do my thing. Warby Parkerson. That's not the Walgreens. No,
it's not the wal Greens man.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
This is the real dude. This is a progressives man.
I can see.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
I can see you this beautifully book that's right this
this script right here. I can't read it. It's too close,
but beautiful. I can see you from here.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
You kind of look like the Monopoly guy. Like mon.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
With that, I think past go with that.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
I think we might want to take it that. I
bet you can find something at Belk and Bella is
a partner of the Carolina Path Monicle. Your hometown favorite
in the Fashion game, whether it be a monocle or
full selling glasses since eighteen eighty eight. If you did last.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
Minute gifts like eyeglass, like your Belk has the gifts
they want at prices you'll love.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Plus you get your gifts the same day when you
buy online, choose free store pickup at Belk in the
game since eighteen eighty eight. Jim, Mike, and Eugene, we
need more to come from the North Lounge. Postgame show
rolls on Next Panthers a winner twenty three to twenty
over the Buccaneers on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 6 (44:13):
Back in the fifth quarter, alongside Eugene Robinson, Jim Zochi Io,
Mike Bachigo. Take a look at the lates scores here
today in the NFL, Arizona at home these a second
quarter scores Arizona thirteen to three over Atlanta. Jacksonville is
at Denver, that game eleven forty to go, just underway
second quarter, all.
Speaker 5 (44:30):
Even at seven apiece.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
Pittsburgh at Detroit Steelers three to nothing, thirteen forty one
early in the second quarter there. This one's still in
the first quarter for twenty eight to play in Houston,
and it's the Texans a seven to nothing lead over
the Raiders, so seven to nothing there. Tonight will be
New England at Baltimore. New England can win clinch at
a spot in the playoffs with a win tonight against
(44:52):
the Ravens in Baltimore.
Speaker 5 (44:54):
That'll be a twenty start Tonight. San Francisco in Indianapolis.
Speaker 6 (44:57):
Also playoff implications in that game that tomorrow at eight fifteen.
Earlier today, you had Cleveland losing at home to Buffalo
twenty three twenty the Chargers on the road beat Dallas
thirty four to seventeen. Cincinnati wallops the Dolphins forty five
twenty one. New Orleans has been playing well, and Jim
(45:17):
said a team that's maybe better than the record would
indicate twenty nine six winners over maybe a hapless New
York Jets team. Minnesota goes on the road in the Meadowlands,
beats the Giants sixteen thirteen. Tennessee at home beats Kansas
City without Patrick Mahomes twenty six to nine, And we
talked about that game just exemplifies how bad you need
a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (45:38):
You gotta have a quarterback. Your quarter is, particularly a
guy like Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes reminds me a lot
of Tom Brady, where he makes every receiver good around him.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Every receiver, Yeah, he just makes them better.
Speaker 4 (45:50):
What we're talking about, Wes Walker, we talk about a
hole game, which I mean you're talking about Amadola, it
didn't matter. Oh you talk about Tyreek Hill, Exavy Worth,
it didn't matter. Kelsey, that dude, he just makes people
better around him. And so he has that magic. And
the fact that he got hurt a c L and
he's not there, that would severely affect that team.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
I think they're about to have a two year reset
there excess. He will retire, he'll be out of my homes,
will be out next year. Next year, they'll have to
figure out what the quarterback situation is but it's it's
gonna take a little rebuild back.
Speaker 5 (46:23):
In nine months. That's gonna be tough.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
It's hard to do. He shouldn't push a no, ACL
it's no joke.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
We saw that with Johnson Brooks slide.
Speaker 4 (46:29):
No, it typically is what what you it's nine to
twelve months. This is a really good year.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
It's a year.
Speaker 5 (46:35):
It's about a year.
Speaker 3 (46:35):
It's about a year.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
I mean Achilles tendon and you and I know this
is so that was a good nine months for me,
you know, and so I'm like, Okay, I'm better. I'm
feeling better. Way you feel a little comfortable. But you know,
I think the a year, given a year, I think
that's the appropriate time for a.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Cl especially a player of that caliber. You don't want
to rush that back too soon.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
No, not at all.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Great athletes like eug and I both know that's.
Speaker 3 (46:59):
You know, that's right.
Speaker 5 (47:01):
How many Super Bowls between the two of three.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
Have some Pro Bowls in there?
Speaker 4 (47:06):
We got three those two we were both undrafted coming
out of high school. In college there you go, I
mean no scholarships. I think scholarship also undrafted as we
went into the NFL exactly.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
So let that's how we were all very similar career paths.
All right, before we take a break, which we're going
to do in a moment, let's first pause ten seconds
for Station ID on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
All right, we'll take a time out here.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Two more segments to go as we continue to wind
things down from the North Longe. Fill my voices echoing
now and Amy and Dan are leading. Yeah, everyone is
leading us. Got to clear the place out. But we
have two more segments to get you out of your
parking decks and on your right home. And I'm sure
we'll be sitting in the parking deck.
Speaker 8 (47:44):
Will I mean.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
But the atmosphere and the energy was absolutely beautiful. So
big up to the fans. Big up to the Bank
of Panther fans. No drive safe. We appreciate you. More
on the postgame show coming up next Panthers win over
Tampa Bay twenty three twenty.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Back to chim Ziki live from the Bank of America
Citium with the Panthers postgame show exclusively on the Carolina
Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
We have we catched up a drama on the North Lounge.
Somebody lost their phone.
Speaker 5 (48:17):
Yeah, somebody lost their phone.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
So if you think you lost your phone and you're
listening to the show at the same time, we have
an extra self phone.
Speaker 5 (48:23):
We know your name.
Speaker 6 (48:24):
We won't give it out, so anybody just wanting to
get it, We'll ask you three questions.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
If you get all three questions right, it may be
your It could be your phone, cell phone.
Speaker 5 (48:32):
Oh you get a yespy a turtleex.
Speaker 2 (48:33):
In the meanwhile, we have this.
Speaker 5 (48:35):
Is a life phone.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Your Jeen's now he is just doing photos with fans.
At this point, this show is just broken down. The
Panthers season Stay Ice Cold was Zippy Ice based right
here with Charlotte Ice Provider at Bank of America Stadium,
keeping your drinks at the Panthers cool all game long.
Zippy Ice, keeping Carolina cool, one game at a time.
We have one conversation that's happening right in front of us,
(48:58):
right here. That's all part of the excitement, the chaos
that is the North Lounge.
Speaker 5 (49:03):
I think we have the magic of radio. We have
found the Ora phone.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
I think his name is Wayne. That might be Wayne's phone.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Our winner is Wayne, who wins his own phone back,
but he likes to go as Jeremy.
Speaker 4 (49:12):
Yeah, hell yeah, what second on have we got people
you know doing that thing and detective and calling people.
Speaker 6 (49:19):
Jeremy, maybe we should send it to the lab and
have the the lab.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
We have to send it back to the lab to
make sure it belongs to Wayne and Jeremy. So we
do have a segment or two here to do. Other
post gave show Panthers win twenty three to twenty. As
we said, it's been a team that's been up and down,
back and forth, but that's good enough in this year's
NFC South for first place with the game to go.
And uh, guys, it's been a while. I mean it's
been yes, yes, it has years since we've been in
(49:45):
this mode of having a playoff possibility. We're not in,
we're not out. We're in first place with two to go.
But this is fun. It brings back a lot of
memories of it's fun having the will throwback field today
with the end zones and the the old logo cat
at midfields. So it's got a lot of good vibes
with this game.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
So I saw Ricky pro today.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
I saw Thomas Davis, greg Olsen, Bristin Buckner, Uh yeah,
Captain Monument, James Anderson.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
I saw a.
Speaker 4 (50:12):
Number of Carolina Panther players here, right, And I know
they had to feel the energy, and I know they
had to feel what it felt like because it brought
back so many memories to have this Bowl filled with
so many Panther fans yea blacked out indeed and screaming
at the top of their lungs the entire time. Absolutely beautiful,
(50:33):
brilliant and so this was this reminds you of the
yesteryear's this would have remind you of.
Speaker 6 (50:38):
And they played the way the teams of yesterday one did, right.
I mean they made plays when they counted defense in
the offense and special teams, all kind of complimenting each other.
Speaker 5 (50:47):
I mean that's really what you're playing for.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
You're playing for each other, but you're also trying to
play for each kind of Each segment has to have
their have their moment to shine, and they were able
to do that.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
And with the people that you know we had Ikey
was out and he was being replaces.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
We had, Uh Wallace was out.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
We had a number of key positions that's out and
it hasn't been any drop. Its I gotta get this
OFFICEI of line a lot of credit too, because with
the how transit has been with so many people in
and out. This group has done a great job of
holding it down and providing not only depth running but
also the protection that Bryce needs. And I thought today
(51:25):
Bryce played extremely well. They had a batted down ball
but no interceptions, and he threw a couple of people
open for test ups. Longer throws. Longer throws too when
the Cocher obviously and Team MAXX, so that was fun
to see from him too.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
Right, will take one more time out and then we'll
come back. We'll pick our hardest working player of the
game and Sayara goodbyees here from the North Lounge as
things wrap up here in the fifth quarter with the
Panthers a winner today over Tampa Bay and take it
o our first place in the NFLFC Southward a twenty
three twenty victory.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
The Panthers postgame show continues line from Bank of A
Meriga Stadium, exclusively on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
Two large pieces of business to do in our final
segment following the panthers twenty three to twenty win over
Tampa Bay, where the Panthers go to first place in
the FC South. First, we thank our crew yes, and
we can't do it without Eugene.
Speaker 4 (52:17):
We let's start with let's say start with Bernie who
Bernie Bernie?
Speaker 2 (52:24):
Which was Bernie? Which was.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
Right there?
Speaker 4 (52:30):
Bernie both huh which was Brax Miller.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Do you see Matt Hogan?
Speaker 3 (52:36):
I have podcasts, missus left.
Speaker 2 (52:38):
People not visual to us because they're in other places
of the stadium. Are Harold Hammock, Jerry Dowd do ow D,
Wendell Black Black.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
You shall not Dot Davids, Jesus he'll send to worse.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
Ben Blevins say no words, you get a word in
edgewise with this group.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
Episides a thing.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Amy Martin, that's my favorite. Thank you, Amy, Thank you, Yes,
Eric Fiddleman Fit he showed me the the broadcast map today.
Very impressive coverage with our forty stations started Fit. Kristin
Balboni on the sidelines, bony And in his thirty first
year out of the University of Missouri and William Jewell University.
David Langton stirring a.
Speaker 5 (53:21):
Drink, the straw deal deal, Thank you deal.
Speaker 4 (53:24):
Now say but we said, we said putt no, you
want to know, we said Byron put We say put Byron. Sorry, Sorry,
what put left you off the list.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
I thought I thought you were Bernie.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
He left you off the list. Do it.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
Let's do it the right way Byron.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
Putman put who I walked into the building with today,
albeit slowly.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
Let's pick our hardest working boys. Injured. He's injured, he's
got a knee injury. Hardest working player of the game.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
Brought to you by sun Belt Reynolds, the official rental
equipment partner of the Okay here giving me a hard time.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
He's got a knee. He got knee injury.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
You're right, who do retake? Is the hardest working player
of the game?
Speaker 4 (54:03):
Well, I said, because the Kwantam was out, I think
we go Nyman Becauseteiman. When you as a left tackle
positioned as one of the most pivotal plays that you
have to play and you have to protect the blind
side of Bryce Shung. The fact that we haven't even
hurt a peep or hair, there was no.
Speaker 3 (54:21):
Penalty, stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
He had to be doing his job extremely well, and
particularly with some of the stuffs they're doing.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
So I'm going with Josh Yesh.
Speaker 6 (54:28):
I'm gonna say I agree with that. I also think
warrants a honorable mention too for Ryan Fitzpatrick who went
three for three, had that kick to the ball and
the end. So definitely agree with you about Yosh, but
I think Ryan Patrick has to be single out too.
Speaker 3 (54:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
Put it on the officsive line. The officeive line has
been playing some great ball all year long. Guys have
been in combination with different combinations and they have not
had any droppings pick up.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
So going with thenman, my pick was Bernie Bowles. Bernie
because they took three shows for recognize him. I mean, Timmy,
that's the hardest working guy who does it for no recognition.
Speaker 3 (55:04):
Yeah, he does no recognition.
Speaker 4 (55:06):
Bertie Bows All right, So the Pathers win next Sunday,
back here got Seattle last home game of the year,
and Eugena I'll be back here talking with you afterwards
as well as the Panthers win.
Speaker 2 (55:17):
We say goodbye from the Bank of America Stadium and
the fifth quarter show final score Pathers over Tampa Bay
twenty three to.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
Twenty Carolina Panthers football. He is brought to you by
